But i'm my my baby laptop but i don't have one way start. Tell me about the doc. What inspire that. What are we going to see. You know the comedy store itself you know in the history of the comedy store you know. My mom started with my dad. And nineteen seventy two. So i was four years old when they started it. I was a little kid running around there. In in in the nineteen seventies. It was a time where you know comedy just started. Someone's like music on the sunset strip. It was that kind of like that movement. And you had guys like jay leno in in in in david letterman and in all these. You know michael keaton. All these guys were there at the footsteps with my mom and my mom. I didn't know michael. Keaton did stand by the way. Yeah he's he's doing stan. I started years ago. I was not weird. It just It's just a fascinating story. So mike binder who's a An old friend who had known since the nineteen seventies love. Mike binder great writer and i loved his show might have married man on. Hbo was should've gone longer but he's he's is directed a lot of he started doing. Stand up at the communists threaten nineteen years salt. "And I would love to have you on the dog show recalls America that upgrade. This is Doug Smith they. Retired bus driver in Albuquerque you just. Talk about his life I would love it. Wait that there is a famous Doug Smith already. Though, right. The former Dallas Mavericks name, Doug Sniff but. That's it. That's the one. So. It's. Not only pandemic but it is the month normally where everybody likes to get into scary movies I, do any of you have a scary movie recommendation. Insidious is still like one of the scariest movies to me of the new era of move scary movies the original. Like that they're sort of like a are sort of paranormal. Hunters go to house. It wasn't that one? No No. No but but it's in that world I think it I think they may like a bunch of spinoff movies and I think insidious is one of those students was the original that had those people in it, and then they spun that off to the one with the doll. Annabelle. And all that stuff. But yet city is I'm always scared when people in the movie aren't responding in a way that you think they should and that's what makes you scared. And in this be, it's like that. You know there's that scene where the the baby monitor. The woman here's Weird Shit on the baby monitor it. She says, hello and I'm like bitch go get your baby. You know. So it's like you know. Though I, love that kind of A. Movie, that makes me. Feel you know. When you watch a comedy you go to laugh when you go to a scary movie, you gotTa get scared him I liked that but in city is the one for me. What about you? POLYGRAM FAVORITE? Scary movie I liked saw the saw movies are pretty fucking Dope Dude. Every saw I saw I disliked I just liked the way it was shot and just like the whole concept behind it was I don't know about the latter wants at the beginning ones I thought were pretty out. Chris Rock. In the newest version of it, he he He's producer Nath he produced that is a new saw yet I read rebooting and right. I feel like maybe he's even the director of it. So he's doing a lot right now he's making. So finally. Funny saw. She is GonNa rip some real good jokes. We've been waiting for it. Hills cop and you could put them together. What do you have? Do you have Any. Watching I'll give love to an old John Carpenter classic thing I love that movie. Theater Court Russell version. Yeah. Not as much. The newer version you saw the Mary Elizabeth winstead one. Yeah, and that got a lot of Hay but I I didn't hate it as much as you know most people did. But yeah, anytime you replace a male lead with a woman people people lose their share or somebody's. I didn't think there is too much wrong with it. I think it's just people maybe that and then on top of that. People. Look at it as a classic. So don't want to see it. Russell shouldn't be replaced by by anyone or anything to be honest. True. But yeah that movie as like you know some of the greatest practical special effects makeup in in the history of. Horror Films and Wilford Gramley Rides again to rest in Peace Welford. Also also I did A, I did a ten minutes short. Called Sin City Psycho where I play Play a site, a sociopath. It's Kinda like version of American American of psycho. House. No. But for Real, if you go to youtube page, you could see it I love I, love serial killer movies and stuff too and like crazy thrash I love thrillers thrillers I think are better than like horror movies for me. There's also thing going around that. You made where you you do something for a few good men. Are Yeah that that that's a new series that I started called classic scenes from classic movies as if Paulie shore got the role of Jack Nicholson, a few good men. So yeah, that's out. Now I also did a Alyssa did Annaba lecture so I started. Working. On that, I have a lot of time on my hands out here in Vegas I'm just creating a lot of really fun. Touring. Yeah I'd silence of the lambs that's A. Scary one love that Saudi is. Probably one of the scariest movies that fucking guy like fuck in a Anthony Anthony Hopkins, like he really I mean talk about locking into fuck enroll. When he played that role, it's just every little teeny nuance as an actor he just really embody this character and I thought. One of the classic examples of where something is performance driven my God because even the guy playing the The guy playing the buffalo bill or whatever. I know the actor's name. But like because of that role, any role he's that he's been in a lot of things. We see him as that character. His name is Ted Levine. fucking good. Yeah. He can be in like a comedy and he still gives you the current. See I wanna get lotion you know what I mean. Movie. Yeah because when you look at all the sequels, they have it two prequels and sequels. They don't they don't they don't hold up..

"So then I read the script and it was just basically it's a really funny premise. It's about a guy that won't leave the Guest House. You know I'm sitting in the back of the guest house getting sucked up and and I rewrote it and made it very. You know took the edge off it and just kind of you know. It did what I did with it, which is why I think people really like it's a very simple movie all in the Bio Dome Pali in the guesthouse following the army it's. Simple, in in it's done really well and people like it but. My point they're trying to make is in life in all your listeners listening to this shit, just keep going keep going. Always it's coming from here as long as your intention is not fame and money, and you're not some some weird alternative in your actually doing we do these podcasts because we love to do the fucking podcasts. God hours and then Oh my God like Oh shit. We're going to make money to five. That's awesome. Okay. But your motivation isn't the cash. No. Motivation is not the cash at. All right. It's getting an opportunity to talk to people that I respect and I think are hilarious. When I go. All right. How did they do that like how I want to know the things that like like and not being serious I've been a fan of yours forever but that Rogan episode was so vulnerable and then I go. That's a guy that has cut the bullshit out of his you are you in therapy. Now but I have been in therapy have been therapy. I was involved with this. Is Group therapy call MIT which has got masters in transformational training, which is kind of like letting go and I've been involved with it for for many years. So I kinda take the tools that I've learned from that Into help to help me deal with MSF with my mom died do that still really hard for me really hard for me because I'm not like you I. Don't have a wife and kids I don't have this love. You know like, I don't have this love. You know you come home every night you got your kids in your fan I. See it in. It's awesome like my mom was that. You're not and she's not here anymore and you know she might be she might be the. Queen of the Communists are but I don't look at our that way. She was my mom and I and I don't have anymore and it's really hard for me the this day especially with the holidays coming up right now I always get very Again. Having a it gets it gets hard for me because I spent so many so many years with. you know with Hanukkah Christmas and Thanksgiving she's not around. And You know it's it's it's it's hard because I was her baby. You know I'm the youngest and we were very very connected and we had a long run. My mom had a lot of years were to gather laughing in in doing things and I. You know nights took care of her last years of her life and that was really really hard on me. You know really hard on me.

"In Ohio and I made A. Joke about trump and they booed it and I went. That's odd. Ohio is not the place you want them to do that I. Can tell the trump supporter it's very simple. We're off talking wearing masks right now. Okay. That's not a good thing. Okay. So if we're all still wearing masks and obvious heated manages think properly remain it's like dude he could knock this out if he would've knocked the shit out four months ago and really kind of owned it that he would win like that I. Think I think he would have won like that. If the economy was back and everything was kinda rolling your Joe Biden. Because he wants to be president, he's only running for president. So Donald, trump's not president is taking one for the team basically. Your and your seventies eighties. Never, WANNA do that. Yeah. But you know what? He's been in the game for fifty years and he just doesn't he doesn't like what's going on. So again, he's saying for and everyone's like well, he can't run the countries to oral. You know what once he wins he's just gonNa tell all of Obama's people l. let's re re up this jet who's in he's already got all the people in place you know. So I don't know. I. Just don't like the ANC that's in the air. Obviously, all the obvious cities are fucking being torn up and it's just bad. You know it's one one world not. Not America fuck like you guys. By the way France is pretty fucking awesome and so is I love Scotland and Ireland while yeah. But we can't even go over there. 'cause. Donald Trump fuck us. I will. I think I'm ready for this ready for this virus to be done. And I'm trying to find a place to go with my kids for the election because election's on my birthday out of double down my birthday. November third. Down I told my girls I WANNA get a cabin get out of L. A.. Doing writing starts. Blah. Yeah. Well. I'm pretty much convinced myself that. Joe Biden's GonNa win. "Know Comey. Sore I. Don't need to go into detail means great deal. It's something I always wanted to be part of I ended up getting to be a part of later in life I think in one I was like forty. Or forty, two or something. and. and I and I really cherish the experiences I've had there and the friends I've had working there and all of it and his mom is solely responsible for that experience in my life. So for that, I am forever grateful the fact that he's someone I've been a fan of my entire of since adolescence. Is Not lost on me, and then getting an opportunity to sit and talk to him about what it was like to be on MTV what it was like to to do movies in. The movie stopped and what he started doing after that to talk about his mom where he gets a tablet emotional ended and really is you know heartbreaking you realize you know for a lot of us. You just move on and you think it's a new time in your life. You forget that was his mom you know like for us you're like, wow. MRIs gone. New. Management. Comes in. That's what you think you. "Said it's a rogue on the other day because Rogan is now playing arenas right and when I first started back in the eighties nineties. There's three or four guys that played arenas it was Eddie Murphy. It was Andrew dice clay and maybe one other person and now it's like twenty right heap hall so that's a way to judge it. Yeah I think so and I think I think you know obviously with social media back in the day there was none of that so we just has had radio and and now it's just it's explosion you know what I mean. It's an explosion so every comic. Has these big big big followings in in you know and it's let me look at Kevin Hart look at this guy and you're like what the fuck I mean. The guy is so big you know his bigger than anyone ever in history. Sorry bigger than Eddie Murphy. Bigger than Richard Pryor. Maybe not as good as a comic is them but but selling tickets I mean the guy's making millions of dollars fucking jokes folks. I make millions of dollars telling stories not even joked well but you know what I'm saying so it's just bigger now than it was back then I don't WanNa say the COMEDIANS are better now than they were back then. 'cause I don't think that's the case but but there's definitely some guys is like a ship Pal and Chris Rock and Bill Burr that are on the top of the game and obviously Louis Louis was for a while until that that situation happened. I mean he's still out there doing would it. Hopefully you know I don't know well. Let's let's let's talk about you so that the club is I mean I was there last night I could. I could barely get in and out of the parking lot and the back cars pollen in lines going around the block. I mean I was telling my Kaga. What a business model you have super a you have guys who could sell out arenas performing for free and waiting in line for free? They get paid. Well we gets paid. Hey I don't mean performance. I don't like I told my son. I said to him He's thirteen. I said look I'M GONNA go out and do comedy for free and this year Half the time the other half I'll get paid but when I go out and do a gig and get one hundred bucks or two hundred bucks or forty five bucks. Whatever I just counted? That's not me on a plane going to Chicago and getting paid. You know what I mean. Yeah so what I mean is is you have the best talent in the world performing for next to now now thin at your place and you just you know you couldn't say that if you had a a small rock club you know what I mean. Bruce springsteen and Youtube wanted to play for free like every single night. You know so good on Ya. Yeah well I think honestly it has everything to do with my mom. My mom started it. My mom is. It's still there even though she's physically not. They're mentally she's there. There's a respect me and Rogan. Talk about all the time you know. And she knew her you when he first came out and he knew how special she was so she created this place so as long as we do. Exactly what is there now. Don't fuck with it. I think it'll I'll be fine because it's the only place that I think. That is a place where young comics can develop in. It's got the history so everyone knows that you know. Sam Kennison was the doorman there you know. Everyone knows that you know you know Paul Rodriguez you know used to work the Westwood Clobber College. So it's it's the only it's to me it's the emerald. What city of comedy? It's where everyone wants to go and it's where all the stories are so as long as we keep it that way and don't fuck with it I think I don't think it gets going to change unless the economy takes shit or something else changes but I mean and it's also a place like where everyone is equal. You know there's it's no Chapelle the other night you know what I mean. He's just respect even sit something like. Hey I'm sorry that I got an argument with your manager at the club lobby and he said that to me right. I'm like do your fucking Chapelle like it's all good you know but Yeah so it's my mom you know. I believe it's my mom. She ran a and she passed a couple of years to about two years two years ago and she ran at the entire time. Yeah well she created the he she he created the the template of what the comedy store is. So everyone's kind of just following that template she ran in it Your Dad passed when last year. You knew you wanted to do like in terms of like stand up do. Do you feel like you ever had a choice. I mean just being around but you around seeing what you saw you know what I mean like like I had a choice but I mean not to pat myself on the back but I'm pretty funny. I've always been pretty funny. I've been I was funny when I was a kid when I was little I was. I'm the youngest of four four rial and I've always been the guy that you know that you know would come into a room and say something deadpan and people would just laugh and in it was something something that that I've always been I was a kid you know and then from there you know. Obviously I decided at the beginning of twelfth grade you know because the sat papers were coming out. You know everyone was going to college. I'm like I'm not fucking going to college so must start doing stand up. I started at the beginning of twelfth grade before or the movies before everything and I started doing standup at the beginning of twelfth grade and I just started taking it very serious I would like I would do my shows and I record my record my act on a little mini tape recorder and I would listen to it back and make adjustments and I took a very serious right you know and you you know and then from there you know obviously other things happen so how long before well so first off. How did your relationship go go with performing at the comedy store and I do remember million years ago when I was doing an open mic and like the eighties at the laugh factory? I think you came in in one up obviously in front of me because I was just doing open mics That could have been more eighty. It was probably no because I started in eighty six. So it's probably like this. That's when Damon Wayans was there. And all the Wayne's brothers and in that time right yeah sounds about right and So what was the question. I'm sorry I so you are. You're you're you're you're mom is running the comedy store. Yeah you WANNA get into stand up yes there's a there's a kind of a tricky thing where it's like. Your Dad owns the Patriots. And you WANNA play football. But you don't get to be quarterback for the Patriots you got to. We need to in. Have you gotTa hold the jocks chess right on the other hand you going over. The buffalo bills is kind of weird. Like you going to laugh. Factory seems little counter intuitive when we focus on this place so what was. How did that work well to this day? I'm not that guy. I'm not that guy where this is my club. I love and I can go on where I want right. You know. I'm still not that guy like I said at the beginning of the comedy store is the Star you know. And it's still the star so I've always treated it that way. Well you know I think people treat it. I think people treat it like a Dojo where like I don't care who you are. You take your shoes off you bow man. I don't care if you're Chuck Norris or some kid who just got off the truck like this is the Dow Jo- These are the rules. And this is what you do in respect the Joe and even to this day I mean I've I've been doing a one man show about my childhood. been working it for about six months. I worked every club in town except for the store. 'cause I just don't WanNa work the store you know. I don't want to do it there right right now. We're lucky to be pressure on you or you feel like you don't WanNa step hours. All Steve Reynolds easy. Who's got a one man show as well? He's a very funny comedian and he's got he says I don't want to do it the story either. It's just you just you want to wait for it. You know what I mean So well it is it it it is a situation I can. I can tell you from new personal experience. which is you go? You Walk in to the main room and bill burs up on stage and then mark marins going after him and then you're going and then the and the place is sold out. It's Saturday night and you're like Oh. I wanted to experiment with a bunch of Shampoo MOMS rule. And I'll tell you this now. Just see you know the the main room is is is more of a polished. Act Right so if you go into the main room and you do your twelve minutes. Make sure it's a strong stuff right and then if you go on the or atom atom put you later then maybe can mess with some stuff. Right just goof off a little try some new stuff. And that's why I was suggesting. Maybe you hit the belly room if you really want to try to valley room enough yes behrman stuff. But it's still hard and they're now too because that's always sold out. Well it look people. Are they pay two drink minimum. That WANNA laugh and they don't necessarily want you to ruminate on stuff that's half baked so I get it like you walk into that place you see those headliners headliners up on stage in the room is rock and and you know certain amount of pressure. Yeah and it's such a good feeling room that main room. I don't think there's a better room in town. Yeah I mean that room is like I mean it's such a like it's a classic room so feels they can almost feels like the dunes old. You know what I mean the feeling feeling of it now. I even look anyone who's ever played a place like us to do tax preparation and now they're doing comedy like you can feel it. It's not set it up. It's like the ceilings a little too low the stage got a weird shape too and you know the shape on that stage perfect. You just go out. You know you're right. It's very show. Oh business it's very show me. Yes so how do you at the beginning. So it's Young Paulie Shore. You're not going to college. You're in the twelfth grade. You're turning eighteen. I guess and you go. I'M GONNA make a go of it doing stand up Where and do you think? I'm just GONNA go talk to my mom and get some sets a at the at the comedy store or what do you do. What's the thought? Well when I first started I had other comedians right. My jokes Argus Hamilton wrote my first Joke Argus August Hamilton insists on stage. In front of me. Last night brought me out. Yeah so he's you know he used to be a coquette alcoholic you know he's used to go out with my mom and I was like fuck. I'll have this guy right my jokes. He's a great joke writer and back in the day argus you know. And he's still like super funny any still very relevant even his older his stuff is really good but he wrote a joke for migos polygraph from Beverly Hills. You're like a rebel without a condo. All right that's a fun. Good jokes I had other communes Angel Salazar wrote a joke for me by used to end with pop blocking thing. I used to dance. I used to do this shit onstage Zoya and all that shit so I used to do my jokes and with pop locking in in the first time I performed for my mom..

"Left in the game or at Fobel Wall Sound Leon. Let's heading down. You know decided enhance what was the final maximum Pata and he holds it out but he holds it down low. CV whole came out of his hand. Right Seconds Akhund not even two inch line and that's all right now. Everyone's now Leeann was laughing about it because they still won fifty five of the fourteen in or whatever it was but that was a hustle. Play when it wasn't gonNA make a difference not apples to apples but everyone loves the fact that Don bb who'd been vanquished on the field for three and a half quarters and was done the game was set. It was over that that guy sprinted the length of the field who's probably running a deep post or something thirty yards away from the play. From from from the line of scrimmage to run the whole. Everyone loves that he did his spirit. Spirit the spirit of the Game Guy Shitty. I don't dumb. Final score was fifty two seventeen and that would have made it sixty or fifty fifty eight nine or whatever but anyway the point is says the game was done he did it. We love it but guys feels about yes. Play to the whistle I your mathematically eliminated mandated but played the whistle. Now then you make same argument to the guy blocked the ball right exactly as planned to the whistle to the real problem is the menacing. Yeah it was something weird like a non-sport something to fight the the team. That is behind. Should play to the whistle just for just for appearances the team. That's ahead probably could've let the guy rundown on in score layup with no no time on the clock but they play to the whistle as well so far so good then the medicine right so the actions really weren't and it was the rough foul probably wasn't a good action either but it was really the menacing part. Okay now can I throw this out teams. I've been living with this for eleven years and I I would love. Love your your consistent. Take on this. Because you're no where my heart lies. I'm a USC Fan. But I'm GONNA try and describe this as accurately and non a compassionately as possible two thousand nine. UCLA USC USC is up twenty one seven with fifty two seconds left. The game is over. They have the ball. They are in the victory formation taking these recipes taken. They're they're gonNA take any running out. They're up by two touchdowns and they have the ball. "All right Paulie. Shore is with us in studio and home us. You know but I think come on crack or I'm homeless now. It's hilarious well. I'm very interesting talking to you because I was at the comedy store last night. I'M GONNA be there tonight. have been all of the comedy store store in the history that place in the reverence that people have and pulling in and seeing middays parking only written up on the wall in the back. So what's the what's it like because because I was talking to your producer you just started comedy pretty hardcore in the last year though right but then how long have you been doing stand up for you know I. I started off doing standup because I didn't know what else to do. You know in the eighties and I kind of I kind of I didn't take to to it wasn't I didn't have enough confidence. I wasn't ready to do it. You know I you know you hear those stories like Dave Chapelle started when he was fourteen and it's like I I was twenty. Three leaned started it. I just came back after I got tossed off the radio and started doing it to try to make a living and then last year I was like like I think I should try doing this. Like as a real comedian. Do you love it. I you know it's interesting. I find myself getting an point where I need. It's not even like I love it. I mean this like it's like a drug thing to get. We'll say doing this doing your show similar. It's like if three days go by and I haven't done it. I'm like what's going on. I gotTa do this. Yeah you're falling behind and then because it's the store and it's on sunset and you live where locking Yada so that's like a drive farther than Rogan rogin drives in from Calabasas. I know he really wants to stage. So you drive in from Lockyer Nada Locking Yada. How far is that like you go? Google you put your thing your maps in and it goes thirty five minutes. It is literally thirty five. Wow okay that is. That's it's the drive no traffic all for ten minutes. Yeah ten or fifteen. What are you planning on yet because Adam said you you ran long the other night you know that also I was? I was at the store where it was two nights ago on their. Which chapelle and Rogan? We're all sitting there and Adam e gets there and we're in the back in and I had got an email from your producer right and said hey can atom start working out at the store the Mike August right. Yeah so he hit me up up so I forwarded it to Adam Iga who's in charge of the COMEDIANS. and He. I guess he told me to tell you to call in. Yeah so the the way you have to do it. Everyone has to call in. I call on everyone calls in and you do your spot and And then he said you went on and you went on thirty two minutes or so I I. It's okay no oh you didn't know you didn't know I did. I should have. It was fifteen minutes at okay. I did twenty two minutes really bad and I felt horrible terror when you they about. I don't do fucking twenty two minutes I get off at sixteen. I did not know I wasn't the light I was in the room. I'd never been in and stuff like that and I felt horrible horrible. Yeah and he said he wanted to send you back to the laugh factor. We're going to send the flappers brought my give another shot. Do just tell them the fucking rules. Ah Producers No. It's true because the comedy stores the Star even know like we all have names like we all go. You've got dates. I got tour dates. We all have tour dates when we come there. The store is the star. See now I yeah I I completely get it. I mean I was standing last night. I was thinking about this. I was standing. Think back stage. IV standing with Joe Rogan. I was staying with. Whitney Cummings is standing with Marc Maron to name a few and I I was like Oh these guys are all headliners and they're all doing fifteen minutes for free And that means the store is the star. Yeah stores always been in the star. Yeah so let's let's talk about that history. And by the way I should say that speaking of touring and going out polly Scott Dates oshkosh Wisconsin this concert in Green Bay. Wisconsin Rockford Illinois and that's coming up February Twelfth Thirteenth and fourteenth and what you do go to poly short dot com for all the tour dates dates and all. That's going on so let's talk about because I didn't live in that world so I didn't have a reverence for that world and appreciate that world. 'cause I just wasn't in it but I see how much appreciation all the Comedians have the comedy store. And Your Mom and your dad who started it and you as well and and feeling that. Oh my God. It's an honor to be a part of history. Say you've performed here. You're on a regular regular rotation here and before I was just radio guy. Basic cable guy wasn't really in that world so first off. I mean that that place was Xiros right back in the day. Yeah it was Cero's back and I think the fifties and sixties was kind of like a Vegas type nightclub it's where Sinatra show was. It's where Sammy Davis. Was Bugsy Siegel you know fucking Marilyn Monroe. Everyone went there. It was like the club. If you think of Vegas. You'd think that Vibe and your dad and mom purchased it. My Dad actually got a got a call from a guy named Frank. Frank said Frank tennis on the building and he just he didn't Art Lebow own the main room so before it was just the original room in one thousand nine hundred. Seventy two aren't Lebow. Vo was the radio guys. Yes he he on the Big Room so my dad took over the Took over the original room. My mom used to take tickets at the front of the ticket. Eighty counter there. Yeah the radio room up front or so then after a while then the stores started doing well and then Art Lebow decided to sell. Sell my mom the The the big building which is were Cero's was Then they knocked down a wall and then they made the The one you get into will three two different rooms in the valley valley rooms upstairs right but it was two separate buildings initially. Yeah Yeah what year was that. Seventy two seventy two and the sunset strip was Kinda Outta the sunset strip back then. Obviously it had all the clubs and Jim Morrison and man's and had played there in the sixties and early seventies and stuff like that but they got it in. Your Dad was a comedian so his first impulse was. It's gotTa be a comedy club. Or what was the initial frank. SANA says Sam. Would you like to start a comedy room on sunset and because because Frank Sentence knew my dad was a comedian so my dad and Rudy deluca. Who was his partner his writing partner They wanted to call it the Sami showroom That's what they're going to call it and my mom's the one that came up with the name. The comedy store like the title of the Comedy Store Store so he just needed a place to work out. My Dad was the emcee So is more like it wasn't like he wanted to get into the comedy club business but he wanted. He wanted to stage. Aides to perform at the Red Fox was there. It was that kind of era. Yeah having this thought simultaneously when you pull up there very like oh my gosh right and hardest sunset strip most valuable real estate in the world. Someone's got to want to build luxury condos here in the next audio and say that and talk with No. This is a historical landmark. Like pretty much as a historical landmark. I mean I don't know if it is designated as a historic historic landmark but it is You think I mean you know better than anyone. The names that have passed through that place And what other place could say that. You know what I mean like. There's a it's kind of like the Chinese Chinese theater or like the capital records building. I think those are historical landmarks to see my feeling with like the Chinese theaters theaters. Like they were showing movies to Clark. Gable was in Clark Gable didn't go there and workout on a nuclear base. Yeah with all the names that you've had add through there at that time. And now we have Adam Karol we got to put your name on the wall all giant. You know somebody over there because you didn't go the normal way like you know you're supposed to work your way up as it. Could you be a doorman there for awhile. Shall and Park cars and stuff and maybe answer some phones. No the normal ways you develop you eventually become a pay regular but you should tell Adam that you wanna put your name on the side. That'd be cool. I Adams the booker and again. I walked into to that place and like I had this conversation with Jeff. Ross at says hi by the way I was just texting with him. Nicest isn't it. Yeah he smokes a Lotta. We'd all my God. He smokes a lot of weed. Yeah I think the people that smoke a lot of weed smoke more weed now legal. Yeah Yeah Jeff's the best is the best I had. I feel like honored to be in any way a apart of that group I am I I have so much pride they just let me let me go and chase them. Stand up what you should do is if you because you are a Europe Mir major star and you're also like trying to break into comedy you should what my suggestion is. Bring your wife life and just start hanging out there and just create you know everyone there. I knew the way so. Just hang out there and then what you should do is solely start popping up all the belly rooms got. Hey you got spot and you just kinda start. Oh that's JIM that Steve. That's when you start to get to know. PM Eastern flow you flow into the environment as opposed to like coming coming in. And I want to go on stage now. you start feeling it because there's so many rooms and there's so many nights and there's so many different shows yeah you you become part of the scene. 'cause like I saw Whitney Houston and what. He isn't Whitney Cummings last night and she was like. Oh we're in the back of the main room and I was like Oh when you going up. And she's like I'm not going up in this room going up in the original rumors valley or whatever room she's going up and people just kind of circulate yes. They're they think it's called a forget what it's called. Sometimes comics will go and do like three rooms at once not at the same time. Same night so that that place which has been going strong since the seventies early seventies and I always think of like I think of comedy comedy or anything like I think about the heavyweight division automotive manufacturing remember those years like mid seventies late seventies when all the cars were junk like even more vet was Kinda crap like everything was just kinda crappy. Ferraris weren't that good portions like in one thousand. Nine hundred seventy six. There was really nothing was any good. And then there's now get McLaren's center whatever. It is like supercar soon. Whatever and like the heavyweight division was that way like a bunch of tomato cans? Guys you never I heard of and then there's Ali and frazier you know and then there's some lean years you know. Where are we with stand up because it feels like this is John? Well it's massive and it's not you no it's like I said it's a rogue on the other day because Rogan is now playing arenas right and when I first started back in the eighties nineties. There's three or four guys that played arenas it was Eddie Murphy. It was Andrew dice clay and maybe one other person and now it's like twenty.

"Turn back home. I love the society. We have like. Someone's going to sue. The chair manufacture these old flooring and the best part is because we were watching it. The best part is one second left on the clock. Everybody went back to the locker room. You think game over. They can't be together to the only people who are allowed. Go back on the court where the five th of each that were already on the court. Everyone else had to sit in the locker room and they just had to bounce the ball back and forth and finish the game and the guys but I don't think it's the wraps apps because the announcers said and Brian you'll appreciate this. That's a new rule and they think it's for betting purposes. Okay Oh actually I I love Israel but yeah I guess so bounced it back and forth and then it would make sense. I appreciate initiative Nisa the Mexicans. Yes me to make further. You had a question for so I was okay so we were just listening the team that was ahead by twenty two dribbling out the clock one. The guy from the team that was down twenty two steals the dribble. You know Kinda just sneaks in their sales goes up for a layup. The team. That's up twenty two goes in for a hard block and then melee ensues talking talking about a block are okay let me establish this right away. Are we supposed as we're told from childhood by coaches. Are we supposed to play to the final whistle or are we. I'm not supposed to put it in the final whistle. I don't I don't fault. The guy played to the whistle. As as a as do I the announcers Ted go. Uh The block or steal or or. It's all just on because the clock me Let me just shed some light on this one of the greatest plays in Super Bowl. "The news with Gene Grad University of Kansas Forward Silvio Oviedo Desouza will miss twelve games as he was among four players suspended by the big twelve on Wednesday for their roles in a brawl between K. U. and K. State. Hey did you guys see that. I'm surprised only four games. Seem Pretty twelve games all thank you. I was actually watching this with my dad just randomly. I was like what everybody's rushing to the do they celebrate in a in a day of playbacks and everyone's getting alerts on on their phone and wristwatch and stuff when something breaks out in real time. And you're watching it real time. It's now right there with hearing when your favorite songs on the radio in queue it up. It's there it's the same product your air and real time happily so in addition to his suspension which which was the stiffest of the four. And you'll see why I'm gonNA show you the Jayhawks. David McCormick received two games. banned for K.. St James Love Will Miss Eight Games. Antonio Gordon Will Miss Three. So if you didn't see it let me just real quick. Tell you what happened. Then I'm going to show you Number and they do a nice play by play. But I'll just give you the the idea so. Kansas started dribbling pulling out the clock. While holding a twenty two point lead in the final seconds Case States Dewan Gordon stole the ball started dribbling down the court in an effort to secure one more layup. This according to Yahoo Sports so Kansas is Silvio Desouza. Sousa sorry sprinted behind Gordon came up with a massive block. He kinda stepped over him. Kind of said started talking shit a little bit and then it was. Both benches cleared one of the guys cash state and Kansas big like when the army the navy guys the same and yet you hate each except I imagine it's a big brother little brother thing with its case. Yeah I just WANNA put it out there to those Rich Whitey living up on the hill k.. State Kansas Army Navy crips blood cells. It's all just the same. Dos is what I'm saying. Same guys from the same narrowed each other. We look at it as I mean say. Hey somebody said the craps killed a bunch of KLANSMEN. I'd go okay okay. So that's good but we kill the budget versions of ourselves slightly. Why don't know why weird inhuman so that way K.? State rocks what do you think the the crypts and the bloods their entire CRIP and blood existence. It's probably goes back to the sixties here in La Right and is now been colonized by the rest of the country. There's CRIPS and bloods probably in Indianapolis and stuff like that right in the entire existence of the CRIPS and the bloods have. They killed one KLANSMAN. What very very good question not well done crips and bloods? You've killed hundreds of each other but not not one KLANSMAN. Fair question isn't a drive by live. I mistake on his horse. He's on the wrong street at the wrong time. One client. Yeah we should dig into that and I would ask any clansman if you ever got a crisper blood. I think I don't know I I don't I don't feel like they don't seem to kill each other. They don't kill each other but they would kill the poor black like I said orthodontist. I mean sorry now. Let's see I don't know plus on Maclean's thoughts on this but I'd like to asking a question how to because you're a sports fan and we're going to watch and they'll they'll write games..

"You'd be like this like he'd be speaking excel when I'm thinking about doing he'd be like you wouldn't brandon. Oh all right. Oh yeah you wouldn't. Yeah we've all been around that person where it's like you don't want their absence so what you do a documentary about that. I should do a documentary about doc. We do a documentary about that. Yeah Yeah Yeah because I think you're uniquely uniquely qualified to tell that story Last question for you how is it who how do you run the day to day over at the yeah comedy store like that place is hopping. I mean there's a line there's employees there's people coming and going drinks everywhere like are you involved with the operations how does it. How does that physically work? Well there's a guy named Eric and there's Curtis and there's I don't know there's there's Adam does the standard stand up stuff you got emily doing the stand up so just like any other business. I mean there's alcohol ordered white is Emily Emma MMA Lee. Yeah okay she does. She books a lot of the stand up. So it's like I said at the beginning as long as we keep it exactly how she had it and don't change anything even like they changed the They had changed the the wallpaper when people. I don't know why they did that. I wasn't there but the original room. No in the bathroom bathroom from the bathroom in the hallway You know they. They've changed the wallpaper and no one was there to kind of oversee it so then when we found out that they done that we like immediate went back to the way it was. So you know you talk about the glass. The glass piano in the back in the main room glass in there. It's a coffee table. Yes yes it looks like a grand piano but it's like a coffee ready busted up so as long as you know the comics it starts with the comedians like Rogan and all the people coming in then the social media tell people coming and then you make sure the staff is ready and you got you know and you start booking I can just starts flowing. So it's it's pretty much a fine oil machine so I gotTa tell ya its. He feel the history. Israel's just using place when you when you walk into it And I I think that you should look into getting it. Designated as is a historical landmark because it is by any measurement and historical landmark agree and it should go on forever wherever and one of the waste ensure does is to get it that designation. We'll have people on your show you know we'll put that out there on social. We'll see where it goes. Yeah the PODCAST. I should tell everybody is Pollack shores random ran which you're GONNA do do whatever you want to make great. We have this week. Is Mazda Brawny. "Of racing racing. I think I think it's funny. I think Amy Schumer. She has a baby or got pregnant. And I don't I don't know where she has. I don't know her at all so ah but from just observing her whole thing. It's hilarious because I'm not saying she used the fact to become pregnant so she can have a fucking act but a lot of people do. That's what you're saying but you know I look I don't know I'm GonNa because because I don't act is getting tired but I've done so many things and now I have to have a baby in order to like relate and stuff like what a lot of people do that. I don't know my here's my take on. Stand up if you're fat fat. You know big fat guy or if you're lesbian girl or gay guy or black guy or Spanish guy. Chinese guy or whatever's going on premises like white supremacist. The premises like let it be a portion of your act. Yes but it don't do not make the entire act around this yet. Say Me and the We's right I come out. I do pop up a couple of weeks and then it's finished right so coming out there doing the whole fucking you know what I mean right like I'll catch myself on occasion kind of rare occasion doing a couple Jimmy Kimmel jokes. But I don't want to be my whole acting I know Jimmy Kimmel. And here's some jokes about him kind of like the elephant elephant in the room. He I don't WanNa talk about a little bit. I just feel like when I see the Hispanic comedian just do all Hispanic whatever stuff or the gate comedian I'm like I don't know feel like I want these jokes to stand alone. I don't want them to just be based more into a couple of jokes. It's like you always. He's here people and I catch myself saying too old. You see that Black Guy was Asian. Goes you know at the end of the day. That's kind of racist just to call someone Jewish or this or that like we're all we all have hearts and heads and like that so it's like the idea is just two or three funny jokes kind of make fun of whatever your thing is and then talk about stuff that everyone relates well. But here's how you can achieve that if you're Chinese and you go out there and your entire act is being about Chinese then people will know you as the Chinese comedian. If you're Chinese and you just talk about topical things that are universal and funny. You probably won't be known as the Chinese he's comedian. You'll notice that comedian. Yeah I think that's a great point. I think that's important. Did you God what was the Japanese Comedians name. Who Dated Sam Kennison to my out Sukey? Yeah whatever happened to her great. I think she moved to Hawaii. I don't know where she lives now. She was her back story. Sorry she was just very funny. My mom loved her. My Mom told her where come on we come on. I'll come on and she would have the strongest you. You know ten fifteen minutes. She killed and she was great. How was her language? It was kind of broken up. You know wasn't writing all this jokes herself self. Yeah I think so. Yeah to my Otsuki up. She's great I and she started dating. Sam Yes that was funny where you with hanging our Sam at that. Yeah Yeah for sure. What was what was it about Sam that sort of out of all the comedians pass through that place that we've formerly formerly together? It was it was when I when he first came out. It was the Westwood Comedy Store and I used to feed I mean that was pretty much like a homeless guy. You know. And he'd smoke weed in the back in the alley with like his comedian friends and and I would feed them and I just thought he was crazy. It was like he my mom put on towards the end and he would do a going around one thirty in the morning and he would mostly just kinda scream cream and I thought it was something so I mean that was so fascinated about it because it was coming from a real place. It's not like he was just doing that. Stick it was like he was in this pain because he had just is finished. I think being married. So you gotta give ever been married. Look at this face. Oh I mean and it was just like guys that that got cheated on on or got fucked over by their wives kind of like men that weren't attractive in their wife went on to fuck some rich guy and left the guy that helped him develop develop. You know what I mean so Sam was like the he was the spokesperson for that kind of like all American guy that you know that that got shit on and how could he screamed so I just thought it was so fascinating and I was about fourteen or fifteen when he first came out. So that's when I was like I want to start doing stand up in the next couple of years thing is like my mentor so I just followed them around. I was obsessed with him everywhere. He went always followed him around. I just wanted to be next. So it wasn't a situation where he was Sam Kennison as we know him and you were poly sure and you met when you're both who you are like a homeless see looking comic. That was just off the bus. He came came from Oklahoma with Carl. And they were just staring their Transall. Carla Bo L. Kharlamov. That was his best friend and opening guy. And it's awesome. I an and he was just this fucking funny guy you were fourteen or fifteen. Yeah and he had a trench coat and he had a parade. How treats you when he was four auto was funny because I would just kind of fall around and do anything for him? He's at the it's funny. I was at the comedy star backstage. Few days ago a talking to Kevin Nealon and he was talking to me about the comedy store in Westwood and I was like. Oh Yeah I remember the comedy store in West next to the arcade machine Ashim and you'd get what dispatched to go work out there like it was like the basketball club. It was like you would develop there and once you got better there than you can go to the sunset room so sam starts out there. You're you're you're doing what I'm there I'm there with my friends. John and Glenn we would play like arcades next door and then watch the Comedians do whip cream hits and going to the walk in fridge and then eventually I became the short order. Cook there cooked for everyone on at like fourteen fifteen years old. That was a good cook because I cooking since I was little. Yeah was that something you've wanted to do or your mom told you. I wanted to saltwater fish tank like James Bond I wanted to get a big second get some push in my room and I was like James Bond got puss. I'm going to get. He's got a saltwater fish. Take so I I said mom I want to solve big hundred gallon solid fish tank with trigger fish and all that she says well. If you do that you got to work for it. And I'm like well. What am I going to do? She could be a cook at the comedy store in Westwood would so she just made me cook. I Cook for everyone was a good cook meat. Sam Sam how long do people start catching onto tip him and his ability or his first letterman spot. I think how long was that. After he showed up at West pretty close. I mean it was probably two or three three four years after that two or three years. Yeah it was like he had like the strongest. You know he had six minutes. If you if you Google Sam Kennison David Letterman. You'll see this is first spot and then after that that blew up and then after that Rodney Dangerfield got hold of them in now at that point you're now eighteen or seventeen or something like that and Youtube has been friends straight through just followed them around. Is your mom worried about you. Falling around that guy I know but then when Sam Service show up with guns and he was on drugs and all that stuff and he would show up at the store in my mom called the cops you know because he showed up you know fucked up. He's like looking for angel. Salazar something someone was fucking his girlfriend. Or I don't know the fucking eighty five was his first letterman appearance. Okay whatever that made you yes. Yeah so I was like in eleventh grade and dangerfield not. I met him once. He was a Douche to me. Yeah but I didn't know him Tom. Outside of that. Yeah did you. He was a Douche to me at the beginning to Mitzi son and no one in and and and I hadn't made it yet but then once I had made it that he was like awesome. To me You know and that was like the first time was like we're doing spring break in an e in and he was on my show. It was promoting ladybugs Docker Yeah the soccer movie and and we became very close and ever since then we were very close and he was always really nice to me after that I met him once when he was doing my MTV show and he was a guest. And I used to just go. Oh into the dressing room or whoever the next guest was gonNA say Cape and I go. Hey I'm and the host and not always go just say whatever you want out there whatever It'll be fine if we have a bad show. It's because I'm not not bad so just go out and say whatever you want feel free and that always just kind kind of tell people you're going to get some calls if some questions just jump in don't worry about it and I walked in and he was sitting there in his bathrobe. You know and I just want I. I just want to introduce myself. And he's like yeah. So why and I should because I'm hosting the show and I just wanted to tell you you know thanks and have fun out there. And he's like yeah okay why. Why would they come in here and I was like just paranoid from the weed or something? Yeah I just wanted to say hi. He's like okay. Okay all right all right like this weird totally weird exchange to have with somebody who we go thanks for coming on. But that was the only That's very rodney is very ironic area rows. I probably your first exchange for them with something like that. You can get the fuck Outta here. You know those like you. You know he is to is to try to get on stage at Dangerfield's in New York. Remember New York danger. When you were how old I was right when I started it was like Nineteen nineteen or twenty Yeah he was yeah it was his just like you know that's how it is. You know you don't it's part of it's part of the fight. You know what I mean. It's like you want to make it so you can get fucking accepted and loved by mitzi shore by Rodney Dangerfield so as part of our my struggle in a maintenance and that's just part of paying dues you know how a lot of things I would have never gotten Sean Penn and in Polisher is dead. If if you know he didn't like my stuff just the guy off the street and I'm like dude do my movie. It's really funny but he you've generally say you like my stuff and that's why I did it so is is comedians could be pretty territorial and sort of competitive and stuff that can be at least you know. Maybe it's in a good good way but they can be kind of competitive. Let's say so. I think once I think once you you're in that kind of like that class you know you're in the class the guys that it's not as right and it's like everyone's kind of doing everyone's podcasts. But but but SAM becomes popular and then you you kind of become more popular doing movie you know. Sam Wasn't doing movies like you were. I mean he's doing bits and pieces and stuff but I mean you were doing movies big time. How how did that change your relationship? He had died before Encino man came he died before he started doing movies. No right when Encino man came out actually the day that had seen him when he died. No I'm just kidding. No it was around that time. Yeah because he died in ninety two and seaman. I think came out in ninety. Two so eighty-five he's making it on Leiderman Urine Highschool and somehow it it it blossoms into this relationship and was was there any breaks like was there any like blowouts or I can't be around you. You're doing too many drugs or I can handle this just kind of stepped out when it got to gnarly just just naturally it wasn't. I never even told him I would leave the room. I just kind of left the room but as if he ever party was Sam and he saw you were leaving the room he stopped he would get in the doorway and he would rip his shirt open and he would say party only party colleague or roar not want you to leave and that was hilarious. Any of the worst breath. He's had the worst fucking breath anytime you because you had like coke and he was drinking alcohol and there was guns and hookers offers and Shit so like when you talk to him..
