"So like we've done every step along the way Ray. Talked about we're going to continue to monitor going to continue to evaluate and when the conditions improve, which were confident they will. Then, we're going to evaluate what we can do in terms of all sports, not just football. But it's clear based on the medical. Advice recommended we don't start with contact practice our. Football coaches others came together and felt it. We're not going to be up to start football and our follow Olympic sports on prime as plan which already delayed. September. Twenty six and it's a point to give clarity. To do now, there's been a ton of great uncertainty and great anxiety a forever. We also feel a responsibility based on all the trends that we've seen try to give some of that certain team clarity, and that's why we've said knock before January first people can plan you know emotionally psychologically as well as physically. And we got a lot of work to do and we don't have every question answered right now. So we're GONNA dig back in our directors football coaches, football working group others peers from other conferences. To continue our scenario planning all along I. Think we said You know we got scenario ABC. And we moved from scenario. ADA SCENARIO BE in. July. WENT TO CONFERENCE only ten game schedule, and now you don't remove into an. But what that looks like we've got more work to do but know that as soon as we feel comfortable. And it's safer and some of these questions are answered where we feel more comfortable. As soon as possible, we're going WANNA play. Larry. Scott the Commissioner of the pack twelve and a number of his colleagues explaining the rationale in the science behind the PAC twelve decision today to cancel the college football season they followed about an hour later than the big ten who also. Has cancelled and we will get reaction for many many people including Kirk heard Sri. In the next hour we are coming right back. To listening to the Paul Finebaum show podcast. Okay, we welcome you back certainly a fascinating watch and listen to see what everyone was saying add in the PAC twelve, the big ten, PAC twelve both gone and it is going to be. Utterly. Fascinating. Watch to see what happens with the other three lakes on a lot of. A lot of confidence in at least the SEC to continue as well as the ACC. But we don't know about the pack Excuse me big twelve. Let's get some more calls here. Get some reaction and. Jim. Apologize Him Jim is up next. Go right ahead Jim you're on the air. I'm just telling you strike fall I am I. Am I am so hard and I can't tell you that that's the most phenomenal. Learns got the most brilliant gone sports. He told it like it was told me like he should be he's rational reasonable. He's not self-centered. He's not selfish and he's not stupid. I mean that was phenomenal that guy is terrific. I mean, tell me tell me tell me what you say but beyond is by Jim He has probably the worst reputation but I thought he was very poignant there. I did not think the big ten commissioner handled his we didn't play that but I watched it. He he he spoke straight he didn't. He didn't give a thousand page document. He just talk right to the the issue was only honest public compelling probably truthful and totally as you say straightforward and honest I mean I I mean I I left I left out of my chair. I never expected to see anybody involved in the high level sports like he is say the things he said that is exactly correct ball. I don't care what anybody says it's responsible sunny anything different he said. That lady before him to ask the question about accountability and that's what it should be. We're GONNA we're. GonNa hit the brake. We'll come back in a minute but right now, Jim your three commissioners who are going to have to explain to their constituency. That they're not paying attention to the same protocols at the Big Ten and the PAC twelve or laying out we'll take a break two more hours to come including a conversation with Kirk herbstreit at the bottom of this hour..

Vanderbilt adds games against LSU, Mississippi State to 2020 football schedule

"About Mississippi State we showed you. Are traveling to Georgia. We showed you that on Georgia schedule they have haven't home game at added to their schedule obviously, and that will be vanderbilt. So it's vanderbilt making their way to start to face Mike Leach in his first year at Mississippi State. I imagine the Mississippi State folks for happy about seeing vanderbilt no disrespect to the commodores but I think there's worse opponents that they could have drawn particularly in Mike Leach's first year not having the benefit of having a spring practice or off season conditioning program. This gives kind of the opposite ends of the Eastern Division, Standings at least from last year and see I want to remind people to as you're watching this keep this in mind you don't see dates. No. The dates are not out at this particular point. In fact, the dates that you thought you knew erase them they are gone. There will be new schedule with new dates to

"Yeah. It'd be fairly stunned if they if they don't do the same thing too big that they were always going to be in in lockstep with them and and that's just that's just the way it was so and you know word could even be looking by phone could even be true trickling out trickling out pretty soon Yeah it's it's coming and I really think that they are going to You know they're going to notice what interested. And I apologize. I. Know The reporters walked away from my phone for four or five minutes a day and I I feel like I missed Mr. Year. But felt good by the way to get away. My Mom my question now though, and if what you say is true and certainly I believe that it does. What happens to the big twelve the ACC and the SEC we've seen all the posturing and I don't know how you can describe it in any way other than posturing What does it mean? I it's interesting. You know there seems like a genuine commitment from the ACC and the SEC follow. But whether they follow through with that will We'll. We'll see. Do you. Do you do you? Do you think as possible to go on when? When at least two, maybe three have gone down three conferences I should say. I think that would create a special kind of pressure for them to withhold for for weeks when the same variables that made this appear untenable too many including medical experts and I talked mostly about call the return students to campus I. Think a lot of those variables I think a lot of those variables remain and I i. think it's going to be hard. I you know look. You Know You saw the ACC expert the spoke to Sports, Journal today I mean there are a lot smarter people than you and I looking at this from a medical perspective in giving them advice and if they if they say, there's a path to go forward where they could try it I'm certainly don't object for them. you know don't object to them trying. What would it look like? Though you covered the sport from from a pretty high altitude. Now that. We're expecting to two major conferences to go by the wayside. If it by the way, do you think the big twelve will will will fold as well? Well. That's the swing. Right that's that's like Ohio and a presidential election rights. I feel like I really feel like. I'm probably using that my call but I really feel like that's going to dictate how how the rest of the how the rest of the sport unfolds from from here there were there were folks calling around trying to rally rally support in the big twelve today and I was so by high level big shore yesterday that things were. Divided. I. Don't think it's it's it's unanimous and I do think if the PAC twelve unfolds we think it will here in the next hour in the big ten makes its decision. It will put you know it will put pressure on the It'll put pressure on the on the big twelve. So I would think hope that the big twelve bulls who wants to play. Is that. They. Can kind of get a presidential consensus to at least run it out for a few weeks and try. To start One thing. I think that's important fall like in sort of all the micro that we've gone into the last forty eight hours is that. The the big obstacle here is maintaining and sustaining an entire season that's still remains the big challenge for college football and then I think we we've lost a little bit of sight of that. On different medical issues and different things like that. Pete I know it's a crazy busy day. We appreciate you making a few minutes and we hopefully we can catch backup if if the dust ever settled thank you for your time. Paul. Thank you. You got it p Tamil. Obviously, we're in the middle of a breaking story The big ten has gone down. You've already heard several reporters, pete included who are forecasting that the PAC twelve will make that announcement within fifty minutes. So the idea of two of the major conferences in College football shutting down operations for the fall in its August eleventh. Within a few hours of each other is simply unprecedented around we're in for one long afternoon we'll be right back. You're listening to Paul Finebaum show podcast. We welcome you back. Appreciate your being here. The Commissioner of the Big Ten has spoken. A. Lot of questions whether teams can change Conferences Krisher, the SEC Greg Sankey earlier today on Fox radio. Would you take a school for one year only in the SEC The, probably, any number of legal contractual media, I could just go down a list of reasons that that's not quite practical. So that that will be my answer and avoiding any tortuous interference claim saw the Dan Patrick show on Tuesday more. Patrick is in Mississippi your next to Patrick go right ahead. Hi Paul, how are you doing it? All right. So we day the big ten is out. All right now, both no one wants to the big twelve and PAC twelve is out and the next hour left. So that leaves big twelve SEC sec. Now let's say hypothetically. That all three of those conferences gets the season up and running able to complete a season without any hiccups and in a perfect world that happens. Now what does the playoff picture like that? Look like I mean you have potential you might be undefeated Clemson a one loss notre dame. One loss are undefeated, Texas or Oklahoma, and then you got all the teams Alabama Lsu. Florida Georgia all within two losses they're undefeated. I mean, how does that look at the end of the season with the playoff picture and if one of those teams come down the playoff champion do they forever have an Asterik by that by that National Championship? I. It's. It's an illegitimate national championship if it's only being contested with a three conferences Believe there's no way that there will be legit. I mean assuming we get that far that would be pretty remarkable There's no way we're going to have a legitimate national championship national champion this year. That's what I was wondering and remember. Remember. something. Board. In the College Football playoff consists of the five major conferences and others. and. If you lose and you can argue I, mean the PAC twelve is is a. Basic nine factor, but the big ten is not I mean the big ten. Probably. Adept. Interest. You can't. You can't have a legitimate national champion without the big ten. Think about that for a second. I agree. I I. Don't I don't mean to be a doomsday or but. But I really think legitimate national champion right now is probably the least important question that leaders of college athletics have saving the sport.

"They are they've had nine thousand deaths. So if you look at it from a US point, you know we should have in again one desk too many but. We got one hundred, sixty rather than forty thousand right and we're having a September eleventh every three point three days. In over thousand S. so if you look. Heartbeat imagine that will have football. You know the other confidence that kind of liability and faced with that kind of medical baths and just look at the number cases that we have right now. well said, thank you very very much of thanks for the call more from Kevin Warren his comments going to resonate very loud leap. He said there is simply. Too much uncertainty. It doesn't mean that we're giving up forever. We're going to continue to gather the information. There is just too much uncertainty and it will be extremely interesting to hear another commissioner, and again it's one thing for a commissioner to say. We're progressing forward. It's another thing for commissioner. Say we are going to play the season. We have not heard that, yet let's move on and Kevin is in north. Carolina Kevin you're on the air it's. I'm. Trying to do too many things, I can't find my cursor go right ahead Kevin you're on the air. Your. Up. Yeah. Thanks for letting me. Visit again. surprise at Espn Hasim picked up the story Nebraska's GonNa play in a newly formed league called the territories of the United States conference. It's It involves waamp, the Northern Mariana. US Virgin Islands American Samoa, and Puerto Rico. the big ten and GonNa, play all the Games in Lincoln. So big ten network and have some content You know they're gonNA. Be paid the visiting teams are going to be paid in Bitcoin the first game will be October third against Guam. Guam is waiting to practice because they have rugby football, but they don't have American football. So fuller passes is is limited at this point, but they're going to be practicing put him on pads. So the first game would be Tober to the third against Guam. Second game is northern Mariana 's tense October the seventeenth. So be the Virgin Islands. But? The bottom line is that. In. Nebraska? Once place I don't really think it matters a whole lot They, they're member of the big ten. Not. A recent member but. More recent Maryland and rutgers and. That's their decision to make the but that's part of the reason why you have conferences and that's part of the reason why even though conferences may not always agree with one another members. You're supposed to be unified at the end you don't. Issue a statement unloading on the rest of the member institutions. It wasn't like this was a eight to six vote by all accounts was a twelve to two boat. We are. Going to head to the break up Pete Thamel joining shortly we really look forward to hearing from to WHO has. Probably been the most ominous Forecast or out there in college football, he told us the other day that his colleagues in the coaching ranks of. Nicknamed him pandemic. We'll talk to him coming up next. You're listening to the Paul Finebaum show podcast. And we welcome you back. It has been an extraordinary afternoon already if you're just getting. On board that the big ten has announced it they are done for the fall, they'll try to play in the spring someone who has been trying to. Try to warn us about this for a long time as Pete pandemic or pandemic Pete Pete Thamel joining us pete, I couldn't help but Think you today it's a day that. Unfortunately has arrived that we we based on, but you've been telling us for a long time was probably going to happen. Thanks for being here appreciated as always and your quick reaction to what has already happened in what May only be the beginning. Yeah I I think I really want to start with you got fourteen t try and all high level athletes you know have come back for weeks at a time taking risks sacrificed a lot and they're all just gutted right now you know and I think in the short of the You know the way a lot of us look at this from thirty thousand feet we lose out on that but just talking to talking to a couple coaches quickly today you know some of them were preparing. You know what they might have to say in the morning and you know moving around team meetings as time went, and then just you know. Looks on their kids faces. I. Just think it's You know it's it's a dark day for football. It really is a I'm interested because yesterday and early even remove today many prominent faces have spoken out. And there were some. Who thought it might have an impact but in the end, it doesn't seem like. The big ten presidents at least all. Nebraska we're paying much attention. Nebraska certainly an interesting an interesting topic we can get into a little bit later we will but. You know I think a week will look back at what was pretty hectic Monday with a lot of public statements quite a lot of posturing and really at the core of in Nebraska fits into this coaches sort of pandering to their base right and certainly a genuine genuine intense in desire to play. But I think when when harbaugh coaches generally all around the country have. kind of fallen in line in this like it randomly you don't see pack twelve coaches popping off that they wanna play right now there's been some exceptions around in different ways the most part in in the big ten's always pride itself is unified league and people don't step in line gentlemen all that. But when would he stuff that you know the league sort of is Pits mythology on and I think harbaugh put out that list yesterday thinks the play there became a little bit of like. Well, wait a minute if he's going to go the populist. Route of rallying the base. Then Scott Frost amped it up quite frankly that could have been that could've been a pep rally that he that he held in the held in Lincoln yesterday and then I think there was pressure on Ryan Day James Franklin to to go out and deliver the same message because you know they're they're recruiting against recruiting against Michigan I don't really think they're recruiting brass concerned what we've seen on the field, but it's It's so I, think that was. Amplified. Really not getting a ton of information right and so all of a sudden put faces emotion behind it and I think he gave President Pause and I and I think everybody sort of sat back and reevaluated for day. But I I really believe this was this was essentially decided upon on Sunday and as they sort of went to draw to a close to everybody took a pause and breath, and then they decided back where they were. That's that's my read on how these seventy two hours. Seventy two hours where but that's that's like you know. that. Was Very Windy Road to get but I think in in retrospect I don't think these last forty eight hours will be viewed as dramatic as they may have been playing out on twitter. Pete, the PAC twelve is announced a press conference an hour from now What do you expect? I'd be fairly I'd be fairly stunned if they don't..

"But like maybe they should I mean if Nebraska's Diane to play, let's Nebraska and Iowa are just dying to play football. Is it right for the big ten to say, no, you're you're not permitted if you can put together a schedule I mean I'm sure it's not GonNa happen but I think you could make a compelling case that they should be able to You know that their finances or such, and you know their case caseloads are such that it's going to be less risk that other schools but you know I mean interesting. Factor in this case, Paul is that the the chief physician in charge of infectious diseases for the big ten is from the University of Nebraska. So if he is advising the league that you shouldn't play, then it's hard to turn around and Tell Scott Frost. Okay. You guys can play different scheduling. Beyond that, any I wanNA I wanna ask you about the other three leagues and certainly You've heard all the conversation during the last forty, eight hours in all the the resolute comments coming from commissioners of an executives of those religions What do you think's going to happen now? I mean I, think they're going to try We have all saw the news from the ACC where it's medical opinions or such that you know that they can move forward. Obviously the SEC wants to try that big twelve one try. So I don't think they'll. They'll announce anything. That's soon I. Think they're going to run this out a little bit I think ultimately. They won't be able to play because they'll realize that just conducting practices and you know tens of thousands of students coming back to campus. E. It's too risky but yeah, I look I'm not somebody who says Oh because the big ten did it or the PAC twelve year that did it all the other schools have to you can do whatever you want like to me that's not going to. that. Shouldn't be a reason why one conference decided to do one or the other. And finally, Kevin Warren is the new commissioner of the big ten He replace the legendary Jim. Delaney has come under vicious attack from Saddam quadrants of the industry lately you know him well, you spoken to him quite quite recently. Still early in the process. But how how would you grade him so far? Well. He was the other reason why I thought squad strongly that the big ten was not going to play you know if Jim Delany was still the commissioner. Is Brilliant was TV contracts and I think he would have done everything. He could fulfil this TV contract and make kids schools riches. He did for a number of years thirty years Kevin Orrin from his first moment has talked about health safety. Well, being you know let's get voter initiatives. Let's be in touch with our student athlete. I is we've talked about his son plays for Mississippi state tight end. He is in touch with these guys his whole. Let's do what's best for them. So I, don't think at the end of the day. He was going to be able to look himself in the mirror and say if this is medically risky, this is the best for them. So I don't want a great yet because honestly it's going to depend on the fall. Hey, if the FCC and Big Twelve and ACC play football and they're able to pull it off like these. Are Full off. He's not gonNA look good. But if you know if it ends up being an issue if they try and fail, then he obviously is going to be able to say Look I. You know we took the right course here. Teddy I, know you have a lot to do thank you for joining us. Thank you very very much. Thank you for telling US early on what was about to happen great reporting. Always love being with you Paul. Have a great one teddy Greenstein from the. Chicago Tribune Big. Ten Commissioner Kevin. Warren has made his first public comments and he said that big ten infectious disease, the Big Ten infectious disease taskforce made it abundantly clear. That there was too much uncertainty regarding potential medical risk that mirrors almost exactly. What Commissioner. Steinbrecher. told us here yesterday when he'd said his task force said it was unequivocal going on on his comments, the the mental and Physical Health and welfare of our student athletes has been at the center of every decision. We have made regarding the ability to proceed forward and it was abundantly clear. So the ball has now moved west the expectation. Is that the PAC twelve will also go under and then that leaves three more conferences. The the the odds of the College Football playoff legitimate championship is probably over. The of a season. For some remain alive. But for how long is to question, we will get your reaction to that. We have a number of guest that we will work through including a well-known commentator who played in the big ten all of that coming up next you're listening to the Paul Finebaum show podcast. And we'll be back a great to have everyone here on a busy busy day. We wondered about this for so long and we're going to get a lot of reaction starting off with pizza who has been telling us for weeks. If not longer that the college football season would not happen Sean Windsor Ricardo, the business analysts, we'll get his take on it all. Later in the program Kirk herbstreet. It has been a long time since we have spoken to Him Paula Deen on the On the heart issues and Greg McCoy a little bit later on as well The University of Nebraska has issued joint statement from its Chancellor and Scott. Frost saying, they still hope to play They're the they're the ones that have been saying that they hope that they'll find someplace to play very few people are taking it seriously that a member of another. Conference would be able to do that whether teddy is right or not, and whether the big ten will allow them to simply Impossible to gauge right now, and it may not really be a significant question not that Nebraska's really done all that much in recent years. Let's go to pat to get some reaction here from our callers before we come back with more guests, pat. Thank you. Hey Paul. Thank you. Kurt herbstreet is now well evidently. He's back. I have two predictions It's going to be a domino effect. It's just going to be a matter of time. all of the. Power five will eventually end up canceling the season because general councils are now in charge and they're explaining the presidents and chancellors what the discovery process will look like in the multibillion dollar liability suits that they'll have. two and three and four and five years down the line. my other prediction is next year it's going to be ugly with the players and they will. Form a union or whatever you WANNA call it. And it's going to be ugly wants you think Yeah I. Think you're right. You're absolutely right about the liability issue pat I think ultimately that is going to. Be The overriding factor. It's interesting where Kevin Warren just said he said as things began to of involved a number of cases spiking and death's. All the decisions that we will make in my tenure always put the health and safety at the center. It's it will be interesting to start comparing the comments of what he said there of what others are saying in the ACC of what Greg Sankey said today Bob Bowles. Has Said and we'll say so fluid situation you've heard that a million times less fluid than it was a one of the most important domino's have gone down and the expectation John Paul reporting earlier today that the pack twelve would be the next and then it becomes a game of how long can the other three hold on or will they be able to hold on? It's it it changes the dynamics it may not change them today but ultimately it changes the game considerably Jonathan is up next Jonathan you're on the air go right ahead. On Fall we're doing well. So you know I'm not really surprised that that the president's we'll take decisions at the big ten to seasons that they that they took basically just given the fact that you know there's a lot of things that we don't know about it especially to. Your previous talking. Hard issues, nervous assim issues though some things just outside the respiratory concerns that people have but also to. One of your guests talked about this as well. Can you imagine you know Being University of Alabama SEC or the big ten and there's a three or four billion dollar lawsuit because again we want these young men entertain us. And you know they're sick. They have these long term issues. It could be ten years down the line fifteen years starting Alon is a this'll Dick. The schools won't have that on a lot -bility this in front of them. you know I think firstly, and secondly you know if you look at this whole situation, it really this just shows the Martin just General Del your in response to Cova Relook at situations the country we have three, hundred, thirty, million people Germany has. People. So we're about four times larger..

Greg Sankey: Football season to kickoff on September 26 to allow universities to focus on healthy return of campus communities

"Lied to welcome the Commissioner of the Southeastern Conference Greg Thank you to the Program Commissioner. Thank you every time I talked to you. You've just gone through a very. Long Day of meetings, we're thankful that you're on and the hallways well. Well it is a you've described aptly the. Long processes and we're simply in this very unique experience and. we're ready to start though in that I think good to provide some context and the destination that people can look forward to. And I'm sensing you know a lot more I'm sensing this decision came as a as a result of safety precautions and concerns can can you explain why September twenty six well a lot. Then it begins with we wanted to set a start date and that's really the point of emphasis in its follows are returned to campus. And over the last two weeks of August we're GONNA have tens of thousands of people back on our campuses and our locales We're going to be reengaging in education. It will be different is we live in this cove environment and we need to make sure that happens and happens well, in our athletics programs operate in the context of our universities despite what some may right from time to time That is absolutely our reality and this decision is a recognition of that reality wanting to make sure we we welcome people back that whatever learning and change has to happen around our campuses takes place in a great way, and that will allow us to play the football season. Commissioner as you wait. To September twenty six what are the the key? The key data points the key. Entry points however, you would like to describe them that you will be focusing in on aside from the student part of the play. We've been paying attention to ten formation. I've always been careful as I talk about data because they never want somebody to say well, they're looking only at that. It's it's really a broad array. And a piece of it has been our student athletes have adapted and our teams have adapted to this environment and recognition that Kovic going to go away and so the ability to support a healthy environment is absolutely the priority and and one of the mantra shared. It was actually on the president's call was to go slow so we can go fast so we can can ramp up and take time to play. We have looked at you know the public health information that that really anyone can access in our communities and our region and I've been with you before. generated a bit of stir on on another. Network show on a Saturday morning that you know these trends have not been positive and and we're still listening to our medical taskforce who just looked at it and say we can slow down want to give ourselves a chance to play football the adjustment to conference only is about we've been playing college football in this country for one hundred and fifty consecutive years. We celebrated that last year well over eighty five years of crowning champions in the SEC and we WANNA make sure able to do that and There are parts of it that we regret but it drove our decision to to have teams compete for a championship this year to the greatest extent. Possible. This season was scheduled to begin the SEC I should say on September fifth. Would you have been comfortable starting on that date? Right. Now, to say that things are going to be significantly better There was discomfort comfort for me discomfort from a number of our programs not universal. This is an act of bringing people together Paul. It's one of those times where you're in my friend, Mike Live was great at that and and I'm grateful for those learning experiences because we've had to come together and make some really difficult decisions and and the reality is for the last. Four months we've been in this hard decision making mode really as you references I joined. And I think as we look for, we can get it through Kinda. What's happening in the public health domain We we need to see improvement we need people to stay healthy. We need these testing po positive testing rates, go down We're not going to eliminate Kobe, but we can address the public health issues to allow our young people to be educated in to allow our young or young student athletes, beaten football and other fall sports is our desire.

"Live sports are back just like the rest of us. We're all getting back on the road stopping at a friend's place to watch the game or stopping to grab a bite at our favorite spot in between those stops, there's always shell to help you make the most of the stop you need to make. The Pride Passion Than Pattern Three of college football leaves here. These Paul Finebaum, show our to podcast. We welcome you back and If you missed the first hour, you missed quite a bit live where we run the air, the big ten announced it had cancelled its fall football schedule and just a few moments ago we are. We have learned that the PAC twelve intends to do the exact same thing. We hope to have live coverage of that at the bottom of the hour petite pizza more from Yahoo was with US earlier, reporting that news Ross Dellinger who is with us yesterday and has been with us. So often just reported that. that. FBI schools now, not playing football fifty-three FBI schools playing seventy seven that gap is starting to close but the three remain There are more than just three, but two three power, five conferences that remain are the SEC. The ACC and of course, the big twelve Kirk. Herbstreit will join us a little bit later on. You may remember he was the least optimistic analyst back in late March of the upcoming college football season, we will continue with your phone calls at eight, five, five, five, two, four, two, seven, eight, five Shannon is up next in Georgia Hey, Shannon. They. Well thank you. So, unfortunately, I I, guess when I heard Roy Moore coming weeks ago on your show I kinda made my mind up. This was probably coming for a couple of the competences. but I wanted to share a quick story on Saturday. Our company took us on a trip down destiny and we were able to. Do some deep sea fishing and we took with US A. we didn't have a full boat. So we took two more art charter and we had a guy that has just retired from Louisville Police Department after twenty eight years. And on a fourteen hour trip, you know a lot of time when you're sitting and riding and he said to us that. They had had all their officers who dealt with all the riots in the unrest and Louisville. when in right after Memorial Day when all the coverage stuff was was in full year. They hadn't had one single outbreak. Among the police department. which I thought was really encouraging news And I guess my position here is that you know. A calculated risk everything, we do the tax risk and. As a coach and player, and I mean you know that you're taking the field? You're you're taking a of. A risk walking out there you know it could be a knee injury a torn labrum, and if you don't think it's a calculated risk asked Marcus lattimore I mean you know his story? You know he was going to be a first round pick and just completely destroy his knee. and it just it's just heartbreaking for these kids. To, see this happen. Yeah I agree with you and that's the part the that's a little bit hard to really digest right now, Shannon happening and And it seems like Deja Vu because we watch this in in March but the difference in March I feel. was, most, of the college basketball players had finished their season, they just didn't get the chance to play for the championship I felt more. For the baseball players and those who season was was just in the embryo. But this is something that every one of these young men. Came back to campus in June at some risk we all know that. They push through I, was talking to a father of a player in Big Time College Athletics yesterday and and and the players have become very panicked hearing what we're talking about here every day. I mean young people do pay attention and and and they would imagine if you're. in California or Arizona or or Ohio state or any of those schools right now you're you're shaking your head like what what just happened Where you've got kids to that you, you have a kid maybe missed part of last year or return from injury and worked his butt off to get back to where you could play. Now going be taken away from him. He's willing to take that risk to walk on the field and he sacrifices body for three years for university, and now he's coming off an injury for this fed of course but he's turned off an injury for his senior season and and all of a sudden he's told that even though he's learned to play and take that risk and take care of himself, he's undergoing to have that opportunity you know and I just. I don't know I. Think is a shame that that we can allow certain things going to society but we're GonNa tell young people that are trying hard working towards go they don't have that opportunity follow. Do you think the SEC place in the ACC play big twelve plays? These kids to transfer out and yeah I mean that is that's probably the most difficult thing to answer right now Shanab it's a great question and I I would think the the NC double is not going to make a decision on an anyone on anyone being in the portal. Until. This all clears up and. One thing that I as dysfunctional as this looks right now. He's five men who run these big conferences at some point have to work together. Otherwise. Thing is complete and total chaos. So that's the one thing that. You you you. You can't look past right now and I don't fall. The Or the big twelve or even the SEC from from. Moving four right now and and trying to do whatever they they feel is in their best interest but. Forget all the posturing that you. You saw yesterday from big big ten coaches including today. the tweets from the players comments. It didn't. It didn't sway the big ten presidents. One bit they still I thought they might. Pause today and take a deep breath and let all this settle down they they powered right through it. Let's get to the calls more guests to come plenty of guests later on and Henry is in north. Carolina. Hello. Henry. was going on Paul how you doing I'm doing well, thank you. Right, Christoph I'm I'm very disappointed in the NC double A.. And them not being they WANNA be the focal point of everything else. A lot of things. But. This is where they should be looking at the protection of the kids the protection of the sports in integrity of the NC double A. in reference to everybody needs to be on the same ground, the NCAA, where are you wha wha what's the problem? And also, I'm I'm with what's going on. You have to protect these kids. Yes. Kids want to go to the pros kids want to play but let one of these kids get this sickness and they have a lifetime of sickness to deal with. What is everybody going to save? Then all they went out there and play because they love the sport but they didn't have to. They can wait until the to get vaccine on this thing simas down. Let's not rush into a people. Sports are GONNA come back. That's all I got to say. Thank you. Thank you very very much. Appreciate it. Let's continue with more calls water like reaction here Calvin is up next in Florida Hey Calvin, you're on the air go right ahead. Hey Paul because of the issues in college football I, see a NFL development league starting. What do you think about that? I think it's a good idea myself because college. College athletes are going to figure out pretty quickly. Especially, if we have a spring league that all they are paid employees, they're they're no longer college students and I think. We're seeing a little bit of it What is it the? G. League. in the NBA got the initial the wrong. But that that you're seeing players go straight there. Thank you. Thank you very much. We'll take a break. We have a lot going on here and many guests coming and going a I hate to keep saying the same thing if you've been with us. For the last hour and ten minutes but the big ten announced right as we came on the air that it was shutting down for the fall and the pack twelve is..

"The SEC, making it official, they will begin the season on September twenty six they will play in conference games every school will likely add. Their next to rotation school. So let's We can take a look at what that means. In terms of everyone's opponent. Alabama will add I. Believe. This is correct. Again, this is not a well, let me check the official announcement and may be in there but they they will add Florida and Vanderbilt. Okay It is not in their correct. Okay. This this is speculation. Let me make it clear. This is not the. But we're speculating Alabama will add game at Florida and Vanderbilt Arkansas at. And a trip to South Carolina Auburn will home game against South Carolina, road game at Mizzou, Lsu, UK, and Tennessee Mississippi State Vanderbilt in. Uga. Tentative Ole Miss Tennessee in UK. Missouri and Florida. On the other side Florida adding Alabama and am, will you talk about some major till two if we get that for Arkansas and Mississippi State on Georgia's schedule? That's a significant break Kentucky. LSU and Mississippi. Missouri an Auburn. South. Carolina Auburn in Arkansas Tennessee, Mississippi state and Lsu and excuse me. Mississippi. And LSU and. Much. Sure. That game is I think that game could be a Knoxville lane kiffin in. KNOXVILLE. Again as a head co as first time as a head coach and other than Tennessee and Tennessee Lsu and. Vanderbilt Mississippi State Alabama. So again, the official announcement is out, we will talk to the commissioner in a few minutes. This. I'll just read you the commissioner's comments, and again, we will talk to him shortly after careful consideration of the public health indicators in our region. ACC sets 11-game fall football schedule

"The ACC has made a lot of news today and eleven games schedule Ten conference one non conference over thirteen weeks the first game somewhere. After the first weekend of the season, and there will be one division of the big story out of this as Notre Dame. Andrea. Adelson covers the. ACC College football for ESPN, and we are delighted to welcome Andrea to the program. Andrew thanks. We knew this day was coming. We didn't think Notre Dame was going to be left at home. But your reaction to everything we have we have found out here in the last hour. Notre Dame being discussed as an ACC member for this just one year only it football is something that has been under discussion for the last several months says the ACC coaches, athletic directors, and Obviously League membership and Jacks war break at Notre Dame try to figure out the best scheduling model for US moving forward in order for us to try at least play a season with some uniform scheduling and a little bit of equity while also trying to eliminate long-distance around the ACC, it's impossible to do that. But at least they can try and bringing notre. Dame into the fold and obviously helps the ACC in terms of the number of MARCI Games now in the conference and it helps. Notre Dame because they're able to fill out an entire schedule, they're going to have opponents that are following the exact same protocols because that is in the ACC policy everybody's got to follow the same medical and testing and health and safety protocols and Notre Dame is eligible for the ACC championship game. This year without the divisions, it's going to be the top two teams based on conference win percentage Notre Dame would be eligible for the Orange Bowl. They don't make it into the college football. Playoff. So alive folks inside the League feel like this is a win win even though it's just for this one year this is kind of a a dream scenario of seeing Notre Dame's football in conference.

NCAA makes no decision on fall sports amid coronavirus

"News coming. To what we thought could be one of the bigger stories of the day the according to people, the NCAA Board of governors decided not to make a decision. They had been expected to cancel the fall championship. That's all of the other sports that are played in the fall. They were under severe pressure by the power, five commissioners and others not to do it, so they have kicked. That can down the road, but. they will ultimately vote and They are not expected to send a good message. So The their next meeting is August four.

"The NC double a board of governors decided today to postpone at least until August fourth a decision that could have canceled fall championships for all the sports that they govern including football and some divisions it. It wouldn't have affected power five football, but it wouldn't have sent a very ominous message. They will dirt. They will reconvene in a couple of days, and by then we may hear more from the other commissioners, the three commissioners that we have not heard very much from including the

Former Kansas State president Jon Wefald on college football amid pandemic

"Dr John We follow the former president at at Kansas state. Thanks for spending a few more minutes with a doctor. I wanted to ask you you mentioned. Where the college presidents are, but but some have pushed back and said while it wall. It is a dangerous decision to green light at cancelling. It might be even worse when you consider the financial risk You've sat in those chairs. You sat these NCWA committee meetings. You've been part of negotiations. What's at risk for college athletic departments and colleges themselves? Paul I'm already there because there's not going GonNa be a college football season this year, so I mean. Look at the the big ten's already canceled. But forty two games the the PAC twelve is canceled like thirty six. So and in the presence are are are in charge of the entire university. So you know when I hear Ross talking. I understand completely. He's got every scenario looked at. But, even if everything's perfect there and you get a multitude of students getting the covid nineteen, the president's are going to call the season off, but here's the deal I'm already. Looking at the consequences, and and they are bleak. the University of Minnesota did A. Long Study and was in the Minneapolis Tribune. Let's say they're athlete budgets one hundred, twenty three. And if there's no football season for Minnesota and the big ten. Their athletic budget, just kind of in half and say for. Let's say the sixty five power five schools. Paul. There's no football this year. Their athletes budgets are close to cut in half, and in some cases more in some cases less. But will you saw Stanford I mean Look Stanford is one of the richest universities one of the best universities in the world, and they've already cancelled eleven, so called Olympic Spring Sports and. You're going to see other schools in the power five conferences eliminating. Those sports left and right here in the near future, because they won't be able to afford like at the University of Minnesota if they go from one hundred, twenty, three, million and that budget's cut in half. They're GONNA have to start eliminating sport, so it's going to be devastating. Who wants to eliminate sports? But here you've got this great school. Stanford that's already eliminated eleven, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. And so for Kansas, state. Let's say our budget is like eighty five million well, it would go down to thirty eight to forty million, so we would have to cut sports to. So the consequences of the limited, he's coaches and telling teams We just can't afford anymore and their moms and dads are furious. No it's GonNa be very painful. And Athletic Departments Are Really important all of our schools and. And you know if you lose half your budget because of this pandemic call covid nineteen. Oh i. tell you what it is. It is GONNA be so devastating Paul I hate to think about it because you know once that college football season half the budget for most of these half-baked departments. It's gone into the night. Actually, we feel. Let me go back. Something I I know you've answered it and I don't mean to be repetitive, but. Okay, but we talked to people and you've. You've addressed one or two of the interviews and. I'm struggling because there's such a disconnect I'm talking to people every day. I had commissioner on from another conference earlier and they're optimistic. Glass half full and all this, and then you're. You're not even. You're not even taking a breath and just saying there's not going to be college football. The same thing you seven months ago and I'm I'm trying to figure out you know. If what you say is true. Why are they saying with? They're saying. Well. I suppose you could call wishful thinking. I'm a quintessential. I'd be doing the same thing Paul was. president or Director today. So I I, would all the I mean I'd be doing exactly what you're saying. They're saying. If you're not sure you don't think they really believe it. Well I. Don't think they've really looked at it. Seriously I don't think I think. Really. Underestimating is enemy called Cova nineteen. It's everywhere in in some cases in America is on the uptick, and it's had an increase that you know a lot of places are. Kind of dangerous to go. But you know I see. Here's the deal this covert nineteen. Let's say here. We have sixty five universities. In, hundreds of athletes and coaches that wanted to do a perfect job and start the season on September fifth and go through twelve games, and so forth in the problem is. They're not in control. This is an enemy. That's everywhere. Kind of little communist, running all over the place from China. And so they could just wake up one day and find out that three hundred fifty students at Kansas state have developed covid nineteen.

Conversation With Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson

"Delighted to welcome. To our program, a very important guests at this unbelievably strange time from the Mountain West Conference Commissioner Craig Thompson Commissioner thank you very very much for making the time I I, I can only imagine what your schedule is like. These days especially Zoom Bill Assuming there is one good afternoon. Paul good to be with you. You know I hope to mode no more about The next ninety minutes to two hours I have a four o'clock board calling five o'clock standing Monday de call, so we all compare notes and Kinda live by that old adage. God gave us two ears and one off for a reason, right? We're trying to learn from each other. Well we appreciate you making time I'm curious before we get down to some of the obvious questions Since, this occurred you. You've been very obviously active in in the NCAA, basketball tournament, having chaired the the men's basketball committee, and it all started there, and and I know in in your many many years is as commissioner. You've experienced so much but How do you? How do you prepare yourself for something like this? which is literally off the charts. Really is and you know again you don't because. no-one there might have been a few people worldwide They'd be well into their hundreds that were around nineteen eighteen. Spanish flu days, but For the most part, nobody's dealt with any of this Paul. So it's all new, and and it's It's disconcerting. It's hard. It's sad, but it's It's life and it's something we. We have to adjust to and and moved from. In as you get closer to what are really critical decisions, other conferences have made these choices many have not What what do you weigh as you're about to go onto? Another call here how how do you determine these things? Well, it's really got to beat a the safety and the health soccer you I think it's simply going to come down to what is the risk tolerance for for all the various groups just within our FBI subdivision and certainly there's. A rank and file and differences between the autonomous five leaks and a group of five leaks, but You've got you've got. A ton of governors. There's fifty state governors in that up BS group, one hundred thirty board of trustees, regions, one hundred thirty university presidents and Chancellors hundred thirty athletic directors under thirty head, football coaches, and I guarantee it dollar on the same page, and so you know we're. We're just trying to adjust on what makes the most sense for my university and ultimately our conferences. And everyone has a different set of circumstances as you said Commissioner Thompson but. It is late I think you know that we all we all know that. As you are about to go on these calls here in the next hour or two How do you start narrowing the window and coming to? Conclusions! Well we all kind of went into that false pretense and hope that fans should be better in July and August and we had time right back in March. We had four months to figure this out when we've got probably less than four weeks. A couple of weeks a big date coming up on Friday with you know the the six week period starting extended team practices, and then most camps opening somewhat in that August seventh time friend I! I had a good exchange with one of our head. Football coaches today saying you know I don't even know what to do. Because of campus regulations and concerns, we have one institution that's had nearly one hundred football players for little over a month. Now Paul and we have another institution that literally has no football players, conditioning of or working out degree, and so you know we're all over the map based on a local and university, muncipality rules and regulations and. I said this for months gone on standby. One of one of the big concerns and focal points for us is the state of California They just announced today that they're going to delay. The start of their prep season suggested until December or January didn't give an exacting, and they join a couple of states that the prep seasons have been canceled altogether one of our states New Mexico, so just just trying to deal with all the nuances and differences in rules, policies and allowances. As you as you try to deal with with some some issues before that certainly, the non-conference issues a lot of non conference. Games have been scrubbed. I. Has that been a major issue for you or Were you in reasonably good shape. Well it is a big issue, and of course years of all years. This is our twenty seven season A. We had more home games against PAC twelve than any time in our previous 21-year-history, we lost home games. Ucla at both. San Diego State ally. Utah, Colorado Washington state calendars on a state. They were GONNA play at the new two billion dollar NFL stadium in Las Vegas against UNLV so a lot of people like to point to that financial loss of losing the the six road at twelve games and a and a guarantee. Those seven home games from from both of financial interest level, and then ultimately you know television perspective CBS. Fox Aren't real thrilled. You know that we lost those seven home games. Talking to the Commissioner of the Mountain West Craig Thompson discussing all the variables. Commissioner. We. We've talked to so many different commissioners over these past few months, and as you as you so eloquently pointed out a minute ago. Everyone has a different set of circumstances and challenges you maybe more than than most because of the geographical aspect. But how do you think and it shouldn't be that hard to think about it since it's not far off? How how do you ultimately come up with what you would say? Good solution, not only for your member institutions, but for the safety of the athletes. Well again. You not to lean on your medical people and that's one of the. Major aspects of this board call coming up in an hour, so Paul because It's the first time that they in a while. They've heard directly from the the medical advisory group and you know they don't depend on them. You know they. They are the experts, will we? The board are economists and Then different walks of life. They're not medical people, per se, and so you know you really have to lean heavily on what makes sense I. I said four months ago and I I contend today. A lot of this is going to be perhaps probably triggered by what happens on our campuses. What they look like in the next month or so you know everybody's either hybrid mostly online You know there's GonNa. Be Certainly people walking around campus, but you know you. You really can't expect to have a college athletics if you don't have a fairly open in some degree. Campus. Commissioner I, it's no secret Wherever conferences are located and and and spread that football pays the majority of the bills there. There's some outliers of course but What's at stake you just from a revenue standpoint? Well you know. Let's all kinds of figures in I I know that A couple of our department said have lost Well in excess of ten million dollars now, and then could jump into without football alum Paul you know double and triple, and you know those are not insignificant numbers. They're smaller than the world. You live in I lived in Atlanta. For four years. New Orleans for twelve years both children born in New Orleans and well versed in an SEC football, and what it means in a walk of life, and so it's different, no question it's different I live in Colorado and and what it's like in Western states, but but none the less. You, do not escape whatever love your Ad. That football is probably that you know eighty eighty five percent of of an athletic budget, and and so it's so very important, but you know as harmful as painful rather as it is from the financial perspective now that cannot be the driving force won't be the driving force. It will be that the health and safety it'll be university decisions. You know I've always. Always felt. The presidents of universities and chances have an extremely difficult position now more so than ever because they're pushed him pulled in and all these different directions and you know I. Don't know how the decision will. Ultimately made would fall looks like from terms of football. I don't know who makes that decision, but Hopefully they'll be some clobbering collective. Let's let's go right to the College Football playoff. Can you even imagine a world where pick a number? Three conferences can play in the fall and seven up to play in the spring. What happens to see a p.? Is there a CFP? Does that make sense to have a CFP? I guess it might depend on those three conferences are and I use. You know you, you're GONNA have to look at this for for the good of everybody, and and you know the collaboration and collective exchange and we've seen conferences. Do things unilaterally I mean as a commissioner. You Work for twelve schools. You don't work for honored thirty FBI schools, and so you're doing what's right, and what's your membership is is directing and advise you to do, but we do have to get together and get the same page in some regards spor for the sake of the CFD for instance and the bowl system. I know at least I'm told in talking to your colleagues commissioners. We wind down. I know you've got a lot of meetings to that. You are a collaborative group. I mean that's a fact. I mean we see that all the time but it but I wonder though. Because we've already seen some some. Some schisms as we had the big ten, and then everyone else said something else I mean the PAC twelve and the big ten, and do you. Are you concerned about the stability of of what you do every day and try to work with everyone else within the framework of college athletics. I am and I'm not I mean again. We try to work together, but at the end of the day our plan for fourteen or ten members, order media have will dictate. What direction are leagues go and I know the NCAA takes a ton of shots, but the NCAA is membership driven. It's schools that are that are ultimately making decisions and the conferences the exact same way, so you know we can compare but I. I am concerned about The postseason college football, the the CFC's a five hundred million dollar enterprise NCAA. Basketball Championship is a six hundred million dollars in a prize number of conferences of two hundred and fifty to three hundred million dollar annual TV, contracts, and and we can't go ten I don't well. Yeah, anything's possible. You could go ten separate ways I. certainly don't think it's going to be that way at the end of the day. Commissioner will let you get back to your meetings, but thank you for making time. It was just a pleasure to to hear your perspective as someone who is so well respected. And revered in this industry we be well and let's hope for some good news. Stay safe yourself my friend.

"Say hello to you on a Monday afternoon. We are marching through the. Month of July, we reached the twentieth day, and by this time in a week or two. Hopefully we'll have some good news or some news whatsoever about where we're going. If Eddo Sharana was in charge of college football, we wouldn't be having all these conversations. We would be getting ready for the season media. Days would be today perhaps, and it always will be telling us what to do. Well, that's what he thinks. And that's what he hoax and over the weekend with Mardi McGee he had this to say. This about my decision, the my gut feeling is gonNA play where we're preparing to play. I don't want my person like any other way. L. Coaches are thinking another way whether we start September a little bit later I don't know that for sure. Whether we play incomes outcome outburst. Whatever that happens I don't. That doesn't bother me. I. I do believe we're GONNA play. Certain that we are going to play I and you guys will agree with this. Sees, football. say Louisiana. SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey says “critical decisions” will be made later this month

"Has been a much anticipated day. When it became known that the SEC was going to meet in person, in Birmingham, today it had been a regular scheduled meeting, but regardless it was extraordinary. It is now over the SEC has just released. A statement! Saying that no decisions were made today about the upcoming college football season. We hope to get more on that from the Commissioner of the southeastern. Conference Greg Sankey, commissioner? Thank you very much. I know it has been. A Very Long. Day Good afternoon. Has Been that and right from a meeting to the Finebaum show what could be a better way to cap a busy busy Monday. Well I, we've all we've I've I've read your statement about Hoping to gain more information or Waiting at least. To the end of the month and I'm curious based on what you have been saying. In terms of the prospects of the season and the concerns and the fact that things. You said the other day you, you're running out of time to correct things What are you looking for? And what are you? What is your conference looking for over these next two to three weeks? That will help you. Identify the proper decision to move forward. There are any number of. Opportunities to learn which is the way we've always viewed What was it play out, so we'll go back to April. One of the guiding points and I think I've shared with you this. This comment from one of our faculty members is take as long as you can to make major decisions because you will have better information. so my comments last week over the weekend on Mardian McGee or an indication that the trends. Are Not what we desired not what we had experienced a bit earlier in the summer very much in the wrong direction, and that that's problematic. That doesn't mean that's the finish line. Things will never change. We've seen the news around cove in nineteen. alter itself in different ways over a number of weeks. And so what we've identified, it is an opportunity in late July. foreign important check in the see what our public health reality, so that's one big picture element. We were told from the beginning. Take as much time as possible. You make better decisions we've also. Experienced since June eighth the ability to support our student athletes and a very healthy way, within our athletics, programs or other activities that are permitted today, more that could come for most program beginning, July twenty fourth, which NCAA is permitted third point, the autonomy, five conferences have been working diligently now for weeks and months to develop a common testing expectation. Expectation an isolation expectation. The NCAA after the Senate Commerce Committee hearing in which I participated in Washington DC has been engaging in developing similar standards for its entire membership, but his worked collaboratively over the last eight or nine days I think we're moving towards a destination for those protocols and I know that we as five conferences have been working diligently our. We've read their health protocols. A NASCAR race Wednesday, that is in a what was a football stadium several years ago in Bristol Tennessee with thirty thousand fans in attendance first time to see a larger crowd if that opportunity still exists so all of those are important learning opportunities, but the fundamental is my first point, which is we have to see? See a change in public health trend to build the comfort that will have an opportunity to compete this fall and plenty of people can say Oh, you shouldn't. It's not going to happen. Make predictions, and they go back to Governor Cuomo in June. WHO said I'm done with predictions. I'm done with models. We're GONNA. College Athletes Forced To Sign Coronavirus Waivers To Return To Campus

"The last couple of days you certainly seen stories circulating the various schools are requiring players for voluntary workouts to sign waivers. We had Alan Green on earlier from Albany. said they talked about it. They decided not to. So. What does it really mean I? Know what it sounds like. It sounds really bad does heather has done some reporting on that and so much else, and she joins us from ESPN. Heather, great W on. It's always a pleasure. I know you know what it means, but I'll let you take the audience through the process. We said hello to you. Hey Paul. Thanks for having me on I. I think the best way to describe. It is through reporting, which is what Ohio state athletic. Director Gene Smith told me when I spoke to him last night and I asked him. Is this a way to protect yourself? Is it a liability issue? and His answer was no. This is not a legal document. That's why we're calling pledge, and that's because athletic directors throughout the country are concerned about what happens when these college kids leave the confines of Control of athletic facilities. And you know this is, this is the concern as departments are bending. Bending over backwards Paul to not only meet CDC guidelines, but to exceed them to protect these student athletes, but as soon as these players Wanna go to their favorite Taco bar to their girlfriend's house or the other bar whatever it might be all bets are off, so gene Smith is saying is we put this plan in place to try to get them to promise to us that? When they leave the athletic facilities, they will wear a mask. They will social distance. They will be responsible and do what they can to protect themselves the team and stop the spread of the corona virus. I'm glad you explained that. Because we've all been reacting with our is Eyebrows raised heather beyond that. You can't just look at your television and get a snapshot that the numbers are going up because we're. We're in a different spot here. Fourteen weeks in. We were weak, one two or three, but. Some of this negativity comes at really inopportune time as college football moves, everything else moves toward an opening what? What is your reporting? Tell you about where we are well. I've been on the phone all day. Actually trying to answer that question because things are changing and I spoke to Florida. Athletic Director Scott Stricklin today, because he's in Florida where cases arising, and he's still very optimistic. That college football is going to start on time and we're. They are located. I don't WanNa. Use the word safe, but they don't have a lot of cases within their outlet department right now in the community that they're in and you know I was on there. Zoom call last week with. With her doctors and they did a fantastic job again putting things in place to protect student athletes. Now you go to Houston where they had to shut down everything because there were not only six positive cases, but the keeping they were symptomatic. I don't know what to what degree, but that's important because it reminds everyone that they are student athletes. Yes, they are not invincible. Nobody knows exactly how this is going to impact the person that actually gets infected by so I think that's important to remember and I also talked to big twelve. Commissioner Bulls beat today. Yes I'm still very confident that we're going to have a college football season. You're going to see college football games, but it's going to be interrupted. It might be at levels at different places based on the resources that they have going to have outbreaks. Some schools will be able to handle them. Some schools will not and then finally I just hung up with Shane Lyons. Who is the chair of the Football Oversight Committee and he had a great quote, he said the coronavirus is controlling us. We are not controlling it. So as he said as I, sit here today I. Think we're going to have a college football season, but anybody who tells you that they actually know is lying.

Bakari Sellers talks about the death of George Floyd

"Are really looking forward to the next gas considering all the things that have transpired especially up in Minneapolis. Our next guest. We just played a clip from CNN. This morning is Bakari sellers. Who grew up in the State of South Carolina? His father a noted civil rights pioneer. He's been very close to the South Carolina Program Practicing Law for many many years and continuing to to this day in Colombia. And as we say hello to Macari I want to ask him about Certainly the news of the day but we also want to mention for just a second to his brand new book that came out the other day my vanishing country Cari sellers. Thank you very very much for joining us. It's great to have you on the program. Man I I love your show Thankful for this platform and thank you for having me today on. What is a a truly tough day for most of us in this great country? I WanNa talk about that but I just wanted hug for a second. About what compelled you and really push you to writing this book. I mean you're still very young man usually Mars for old decrepit people like me but still on your your early thirties. I'm really interested in how you got to this point. Yeah so you know I. I wanted to write a political book and I'll be honest which Paul that no one wanted to buy it. And so when I sat down and talked about my story coming from the Orangeburg massacre in February eighth to sixty eight where my father was shot. subsequently imprison all the officers. Who fired shots into? The group of students were charged and found guilty. Three young men died in Smith. Samuel eminent Delano Middleton My father was shot and imprisoned. I chronicled that all the way through my rise to being young black elected official in the country. All the way through Charleston South Carolina. Where I lost my good friend Clemente. I'm in the Charleston massacre and so I just highlight the ups and downs and the trauma that comes along with being a person of color and what I the reason I wrote. This book is so that we could All have some sense of understanding so we begin to have conversations about healing this country And you know your book comes out during a pandemic and it also comes out around the death of Ahmad. Aubrey the desktop Brianna Taylor. Now we had this death in Minneapolis. And so I think it's an evergreen book and You know it's a discussion. It's difficult but necessary to have the car. It's it's so easy for all of us to talk about. No one should act this way but I wanNA get deeper because in watching what you did this morning and really knowing you quite well and hearing you speak out on so many other issues. I really want you to get to the heart of the matter here. this is bigger than than an isolated incident in. Minneapolis or Georgia or somewhere else. Is it not it is and you know. It's it's not just myself but you see you see all these athletes you see Lebron James of the world you see. I'm all the list of NBA players goes far and wide and even young college athletes are taking span. Because Y- for me personally it's about what do I tell my black children in this country and I know a lot of your listeners are like here we go again a. Why are we going down this path? But it's the fact that I have to have conversations with children that others do not and you know the crime that was Allegedly committed was forgery of a twenty dollar bill. He didn't even know that there's evidence to say he didn't even know that the twenty dollar bill was fake But regardless the penalty should not be a death penalty crime and so now I have a fifteen year. Old Daughter should be fifteen on June first. Who is about to Get her permit. You wouldn't do. I tell her. What do I teach her? I'm raising twins that are seventeen months old and one is a boy stokely. What do I tell him in? So that pain and this is not new You know it goes back to Emmett. Till and mega rivers Jimmy Jackson in the Orangeburg massacre the massacre on the campus of Jesse Jackson State in Kent State all the way through The recent incidents that we've had and so the question is when will it stop and I you know. I think that we have to begin to have difficult conversations in this country and some people don't want to have but I'm pressing forward to make to let people know that there is a real pain in this country and and there's painful by a lot of people today particularly black people in this country and we have to hear that pain. He wrote the other day. Being Black in America is almost perpetual state of grieving. I I know I know you well enough to understand but I want you to explain to to those out there and your political commentator. You're you're you know what I'm referring to. How do you explain that to the rest of us? You know. I I say that before you turn me off turn me down I say? Why don't you turn me up and let's have a conversation? Where is listening and understand and I come from a place where my father was literally shot a law enforcement and I had the utmost respect for law enforcement officers. My that was literally shot. My father was taken away from my family because he was actually arrested. For that night I father became the first and only one man riot in the history of this country. He was charged tried and convicted of rioting because he was a member of the Civil Rights Organization. They denied bond and they housed them on death row. My mother had to carry my sister my oldest sister their oldest child. She carried and gave birth while my father was in prison. And so when you talk about that trauma that emerged from my father went through the burden of being a black man in the south with felony. You carry all of that. And I'd had a great deal of success in my life and my job is to make sure that others are able to get access to those blessings as well and then I lived through the Charleston massacre. Paul like my good friend. Clemente painting he was was murdered in Bible. Study You know he let somebody come into his church. He set them beside him and he was shot in the net. And so when you think about all of these things and you think about the fact that I'm now living for them and there's no one there's absolutely no one in their right mind. They can lie to you. They can call in today until you that amount all day deserve today. Brianna Taylor. She was an emt worker. They served been no knock warrant. Went in and shot her and they can't tell you. The George Minneapolis deserved I either. And so that is what I'm saying. We have to begin to understand the reasons why and before you turn the conversations like this down. Let's turn them up. And let's have an honest conversation about how we move forward to broaden this because you of all people know it's twenty twenty. The political season never ends and a lot of people bacar just already made up their mind not so much the election but about everything this conversation. We're having the pandemic and I want you to try to take us there because I preach on this program. I don't want to talk about politics. But you can't get away from politics and especially at a time like this one hundred thousand people who died Do through the growing virus The overwhelming majority of these individuals especially in these large cities. The data points are are people of Color. I mean we have to talk about that This season is upon us. And you know regardless I want people to exercise their right to vote their right to vote safely You know you politics part of everything we do in life and you know I ask. 'cause I'm a big game cut fan and I was like the way to get you know my game friends and my. I don't have any clemson friends but you know the the people who go to school at Clinton though the way you get them to stay at home and stay inside and say that if we do not stay inside we won't have football season and so we're living. A lot of people are living through a great deal of trauma You know we're we're pausing we aren't able to go out. We aren't able to be with loved ones. If you get sick and have to go to the hospital you have to go by yourself

Just you give me a page number. He this this book has looks like five hundred pages. You give me a page number. Wait a minute three hundred page one through three hundred. I want to give you a fact two hundred fourteen two hundred fourteen so we go to page two hundred fourteen of the Phil Steele preview. That's East Carolina Pirates. It is their preview Phil. Here's why Phil Steele is is unnecessary. If you look at the Phil Steele Book He will tell you every statistic from East Carolina not just this year but like the last ten years that does seem unnecessary. Give me a position position on the football field side in tidying in case you're wondering Zach Zach Bird is the starter but Anthony Wally second-string Gerais Simpson Third Jerry Lewis Fourth and Nate Clark Fifth. If you are human being that is sitting out there going you know what I need to know the fifth-string tidy and on East Carolina I would say you should seek help and the fact that Phil Steele Nailing knows it but as anybody who's ever read magazine can attest writes it in the smallest type but they don't even make type that small. I find this book fascinating and I wonder if there's anyone in America that reads all of this. Do you think any anyone reads all of this. Do you think anyone outside of Carolina in that area. Maybe maybe we'll say their conference. Anyone has actually read the page that has East Carolina on it. I can't imagine they would so let me ask you a question. Do you know who the coaches at East Carolina John. I do not Mike Houston K. information another question. Can you name me a football player that played in East Carolina ever Chris Johnson. Finishes Fifth and West where do you think they finished third in the West. Maybe second and I'm not convinced that Texas is GonNa go to the playoffs all burn. Here's one of the things I learned about Texas and I every time somebody every year I hear this is the year for Texas the two schools that I always here on the come up that seemed to never actually get up our Texas and Tennessee so I am not pudding either of those ts in the playoff Texas much much farther along than Tennessee but I would not put them there and I'm this all burn. I'm not gonNA bath. Our fans going to say it anyway. You're not gonNA win the West. It's a freshman quarterback Kevin someone try to save his freshman quarterback. What could happen to him? Go ahead on thing that favorite job could freshman quarterback basically good luck with that one all right so let me do this real quick. I want you to matt quickly. Tell me each game. You're going to beat Texas state. Are you winning Clemson by going to lose a game that Clemson you'll beat Lamar. You're going to beat Auburn at home. Yes Arkansas at home yes well. It's an Arlington Alabama at home. Yes Oh yes. You're beating Alabama at home. Yes I'm very confident my team that you beat Alabama all right. What about against Alabama? We're about an old miss. Yes yes Mississippi State at home. Yes South Carolina at home at Georgia loss at l._S._U.. Win All right so now if you believe that's your record then you're in the S._E._C.. See Championship game you just pick them third but if you're only losses to Georgia and you beat Alabama then you have the tiebreaker. You're in the S._E._C. Championship game too but I'm looking at the fact that I don't know what Alabama's record is going to be but I mean it doesn't matter what the record is. If you have one loss and you beat them you own the tiebreaker against them. You're going to the championship game in that way. Well now. You have congratulations. If it's up to me there will be absolutely no there. We absolutely no country from the modern era because that's not. If you don't WanNa put your name on what you say seven seven two seven seven four five five four and I get these text right here. I already have one when I met you gotta understand. It's a different kind of caller here. Unlike your show. You have to let them talk if you cut them off. They'll get upset. We've done this a lot. I unlike Paul I don't analysts let people go on and on. We've got things we have to get to your still bitter about it on this show then on K. S._R.. That's your your quick on the hang up button on Kesar. We've got a lot to get to on that. Show on this show a little bit more time. I've got great producers here Spencer Alan Spencer. I can't see the call thing because I'm looking at a sheet of paper and a picture of Mike and dog if you could if you could put it there all right so but before we get the phones athlon magazine I just picked up the athlon as the preview and they say many things but one of the things the athlon preview does is they write the S._e._C.. Coaching jobs best to worst okay not the best programs but if you just had a choice of any job best to worst which one would you take. Let me ask you have not seen this drew I have what do you think the best job in the S._e._C. is. According to Adlan we'll go with Alabama see. That's what I would feel. It's not what they have. They have the best coaching job in the S._e._C.. Georgia Second Alabama Third Florida Fourth L._S._U. Fifth Texas am. I think that's nonsense isn't it I mean I guess the theory is if you go to Alabama you got the legacy of save and you have to go yeah. They have to be considering following. Say Georgia probably has a better recruiting base because the state of Georgia produces more players but Alabama is college football right like if you're talking historically the programs that when I think college football if you're putting the Mount Rushmore of college football programs you're putting what Alabama Notre Dame U._S._C. Ohio state. Is that WHO I'm putting on it yeah. I don't know you'll see maybe I'd have to look at throughout but that's probably what you're doing. Georgia is probably not in the top ten so that's odd to me that they would have Georgia as the best job. I don't think I agree with that and as we just learned ten minutes ago the fans that's all everyone talks about his Alabama. You're around Alabama football. We just the first caller how the team's going to be so the fan base is by far the most passionate too. I think I would rank them Alabama one. I would rank Florida too. I mean I know they're not now now. What is now but Florida's a job? There's players ever on every street corner. I'd go Georgia three. I'd say A._M.. Four and L._S._U.. Five I think those are descended. I'd probably put Auburn six. I'll still put l._S._U.. Over eight they got a lot of talent Louisiana and just has all the money Texas has a ton of town and has all the money most. I think they probably more money than every school in the country huge fan base I mean it's a sleeping giant in terms of they've always underachieved because they were in the shadow of Texas but they're not anymore so anyway. Let's go to Matt in San Antonio and am by Fan. How are you man Jones? Uh No one time about the alien news..

But you know, I definitely understand that you guys a possible top ten pick. Everybody situation's different. You know, gritties follow ready that those a family decision that he made. Don't won't you around about bad at it. They'll do a do agree with it, not necessarily, but everybody's different understood a situation. So this has become a big topic of conversation in in college football. When you think about it? Do you think it's a good idea or do you think like coach, Ron, you know, it'd be a team, I sport. I don't know how very many of us can relate to the opportunity to make a lot of money and perhaps. Get ready for that versus hanging out with your team won last time. Or does it say something about some of these bowl games? Anyway, one of the topics that will discuss the show begins now..

"Pageantry of college football lives here. This is Paul finebaum show. Our to podcast. Welcome back to the program where in Fayetteville and. The biggest share of the day has just gone up. Because Chad Morris has joined us. Popular man in these parts and the the forecast calls for him becoming even more popular. How are you coach doing? Well, see everybody out in excited about opportunity. We in front of us. I talk about your son. I know he's toward the end of his high school season. Over was how in park. Yeah. He's a quarterback. How's he doing? Well, they just finished up last night to know and having a phenomenal year for player of the year and just doing great things. And so the whole team is proud of him. That's quite a program there. And so what we're what years he's junior? So he's still got all the time. He's got a year left. And so we'll put in a pretty hard crew. Trying. Got to be careful coach too many business. I know I know at least, I know his mom, so that's good. That is a good point. I think you I think you can let her do the recruiting. But I've heard quite a bit about his his play. Let's talk about the play of your team huge gain. The mar- LSU comes to town. This is as you well know, quite a robbery and they're coming off of disappointing loss. But then you've you're coming off a bye week. Yeah. You know, I it is Paul traveling all over state being here, and and just hearing the stories and the of the robbery of this game. And now to be able to be a part of it tomorrow night. You know, we're really look forward to opera -tunities that we have in front of us. I really believe you know, coming off the bye week is much needed late in the year. He had opportunity get our legs back up underneath this. These guys are in a great mindset. We've had had great work for the last couple of weeks, and you know, senior night, and we're gonna we're gonna go out. And and we're we're gonna we're gonna see what we can do. So it's a be a great opportunity for. Yeah. I think it would be a fair statement. You correct me. If I if I'm not, right? But the everyone knew this going to be a tough transition. These were not your players. This is not your system. You're trying to make a lot of dramatic changes. I realize three games left. But how difficult has been? Well, you know, no one could have foreseen where we are. Right now. You know, in, you know, could speculate we knew we were gonna rebuild and we knew it was going to take a, you know, a group of guys coming together, and and and pulling her weight this year, and and we've seen that we've seen we've seen growth in this program this year, and it was disappointing. I not think we played very well against Vanderbilt, but leading up to that game we played extremely well and gotten better every week..

"If when Alabama was bad before Sabin got there, did they feel worse about themselves than they do today? Actually not. Here's Alabama football. I mean, there's Bryant and then they're saving in the interim was terrible. I mean, Alabama. How to coach, Alabama, a coach, Mike, do bows wanna championship, but got fired because he was having a relationship. Dennis Francioni came next and he was replaced by a Mike price who never got to his first game because he got into a scandal and then they had more more failure. But at every juncture, Alabama fans either would live off the past or look to the future. They are not. They're not a group that ever doubts who they are and what they are going to be. But but I think your overall point is a good one, but I will tell you one story, Harvey Updike back to him. I got to know him. Not that I really wanted to, but I did. He came to visit me once or twice. I actually visited him in jail and he, I asked him one time. It may have been in jail. I mean, he's in an orange jumpsuit and I said, Harvey, why didn't you do this? Why did you go to a store by pesticide and poison tree? He said, because I had to, I said, you had to. He said, yeah, he said Auburn, cheated to get Cam Newton. We were head of them twenty four to nothing, and and he called him scam. Newton scam Newton brought them back. And then they had the nerve to desecrate the bear Bryant statute at Bryant. Any stadium he said, and I had to do it. I said, you had to do it for whom I did it for Nick Saban. He said, because he couldn't do it himself. And I mean my, he was dead serious. He felt like he had done this. I mean, I'm sure a great defense lawyer could have gotten them off. I think in the end it was some type of insanity plea. I don't know what it was because the guy the guy was off his rockers to a certain degree, but a lot of Alabama fans liked him. They felt like he was standing up for them. Now the elites. The the, the elite alums who sit in the boxers, they wanted nothing to do with this guy. Remember rand, Joe Scarborough's become friends with this guy. This guy should be banned. So of course, he's banned. I mean, this guy back on campus, Joe, but that. That's the economy of a fan base. You always have the the upper crust. Then you got, and I relate. I mean, don't ask me why. I mean, I, we were not wealthy. We were middle class people, and I'm not running for public office on on some socialist campaign, but but I relate to the the average fan who who, who is scorned by by those wealthy people. And they say that this is a part of another part of what we do is they say the those who didn't go to the school have no right to cheer. That's ridiculous. I mean, this is pro football where everybody's a family if you want to cheer for Alabama because you live in Alabama, you you live in Kansas City. That's great. You're still the same fan as the guy who pays fifty thousand one hundred thousand for the box. We will continue in a moment with more of my conversation with Paul finebaum. But I, I want to tell you about linked in, you know, the right hire can make a huge impact on your business, and that's why it is so important to find the right person, but where do you find that into. Visual. You could try posting on the job boards, but can you.

"And so I regret, I wrote a column that gained some notoriety I, my first column was in the aftermath of bear Bryant's death and new era, and eventually I moved into radio, and that took a very long time as well. So. So I most people had not heard of me until I got to, yes, Pnn right before that. But so the career I'm loving every minute of this people say it must be arduous. I know. I mean, I'm in, I'm sitting in New York City. This is where I always wanted to be my family's from here. So I don't care what anyone else says. I mean, I I am at at turns sixty a couple years. I'm having the time my life at a time when most of my friends are long gone from the industry. So how how what were you doing before I knew of you? What were you doing on that? Tuesday before I woke up on Wednesday and said, Paul finebaum is someone I need to know and need to get involved. We were doing a radio show in Alabama greeny and it had expanded to a regional basis. And probably the most significant thing that had happened was Nick Sabin came to Alabama, two thousand and seven. I changed. Radio stations are ratings quadrupled. It was the saving affect that still going on in two thousand and ten Sirius XM picked up our show and it. It gave me an audience and voice to two people that had never heard it before they liked it. They thought it was crazy. It was a caller driven show. We, I say this with all the respect toward you, we were not Mike and Mike where we could grab the A-List guests. I mean, we were in Birmingham, Alabama. So we turned the show into a caller driven show and became an insane asylum. And all of a sudden he's normal people that had never had a voice or celebrities, and I am brace that, and I think that's really what happened. So the show goes national and things that you're on national series. XM is a great medium, but there's a lot of stations. Something happened in two thousand eleven that that probably was the biggest change. We had a guy call our show. He talked. He didn't really believe what he was saying he was. He was rambling on. And then finally, he admitted on the air that he had poisoned the iconic tumors oak trees at Auburn university here our that the iron bowl. Okay. And I thought where they put a scam, New Jersey owned, bear Bryant's statue. Well, let me tell you what I did. I went to Auburn, Alabama, Khalil, thirty miles away. You're not poisoned the to tumors traits that they, they're not dead yet, but they, they definitely will roll damn tied. Nothing happened for couple about two weeks later, the story blew up. The guy's name was Harvey Updike. It became one of the biggest stories in college football, and if you're not an Auburn fan and he'll follow the south, these trees are the are their religious experience for Auburn fans after every win. They roll them with toilet paper. There were tears and that that became part of a thirty for thirty by ESPN. Roll tide war eagle, which gain me some more notoriety. But the biggest moment of my career interestingly was because of a print article went right back to the beginning in two thousand and at the end of two thousand twelve, the New Yorker magazine had not done a piece on a college football person in about ten years. "Welcome back to I'm interested. I'm Mike Greenberg and my guest this week absolutely fascinates me by the way I have had people tell me that I use the word interested too much podcast. I'm going to do my best not to people telling me to drinking game. Now, people are listening to the podcast and they're taking drink every single time I used the word interested and just as quick side, I have a terrible personal association with that because when I was in college, I remember going to the Wrigley field bleachers to watch a cubs game and we were, we used to do a beer and inning. And then we decided one game we were going to do a beer run, and the cubs gave up eight runs in the first inning, and I don't remember much of the rest of that day, so I must be careful with those things anyway. I digress the the idea here for those of you who are new to our podcast is that I just find interesting people and talk to them about the things that make them interesting to me. And my guest this week is someone who is a phenomenon that I don't know that I fully understand. But over the course of the next forty, five minutes or so, hopefully we will figure it out. He is the mouth of the south. He had hosts and incredibly not just successful, but I think important from a sports perspective, radio program, hosted TV show on the SEC network is part of college game day, which I think at this point is ESPN's most successful show most significant show and has become an incredibly important part of it. He's Paul finebaum and here's the way Paul I will start. Why are you looking at me like then I just can't believe I'm here, but anyway, keep going where where were you otherwise expecting to be? No, I'm just I'm loving this introduction. Okay. Well, that's good. Thank you. I pride myself on those. Here's how I would describe you. My knowledge of you. I've been SPN a longtime. I've worked in the media, a longtime, and I feel like on a Tuesday, I had never heard your name in my life. And on Wednesday, you are one of the three or four most important voices in the sports conversation. Paul finebaum. How did that happen? I, I would love to give you a dissertation that that sounded intelligent and well-thought out in even maybe a Ted intellectual, but but I don't think there's an easy answer. What I did greenie is I was a newspaper guy. I loved it. I never thought anything would be better than that. I felt like if I hadn't gotten to the New York Times by age thirty, my life was going to be over and it didn't work out. I got involved in some things, especially lawsuit that circumvented my career from progressing and I was devastated. So then I became a columnist knocked around Alabama, and it just kept moving down the road a little bit. And a couple years ago, it finally happened where people outside of a very small region began to to hear my name. So I don't. I know you talked a lot of people that that sometimes. Pinch themselves and they're not really sure where they are. I'm one of those because I've seen it from all sides in. I don't. I still don't believe that even though I love hearing what you said. I'm not sure I quite buy in to that description. Is the the loss that you refer to? Is that public knowledge about? I don't know at what happened. In another lifetime I was newspaper reporter. I was an investigative sports reporter. And we broke a story. I won all these awards that usually get you the next level. And I had a job at the Philadelphia Inquirer that I was about to go except the job on Monday, and they called me Sunday afternoon and said, we don't need you. We've just found out you were in a lawsuit, and it was one of the most devastating moments of my life that this whole career that I'd built from college came to an end and in some ways, I'm not sure I still have recovered from that because that's what I wanted to do. I'm glad now and see the state of the newspaper business. What year was this is in the early eighties also interviewed and Chicago. I thought that was going to get a job there..

"He's the best best the Paul finebaum show podcast, welcome back to the Paul finebaum show. This is our number two. I'm Brad Edwards filling in for Paul today, and let's get back to your calls starting with I'm and good afternoon. Great. Gore's going. Great. How are you. I'm doing well, man. It's good to hear your voice on here. It's been awhile since you've sat in and there's been too long. Yeah. Yeah. And you wonder smartest men at ESPN I know SEC network and that kind of thing. But the bottom line is everybody works for. Yes, Pnn everybody works for Disney and everybody works for somebody who may anyway, like this. You know, I'm not one of the callers that needs to be coach you my favorite. What you think about our quarterback, how are we going to be this year? I don't take coaches. I don't follow players. I don't care what coaches said. 'cause they all say the same nonsense we'll go. Joe power and fast wins means weekend, but you know, I enjoyed talking to guys like you because I enjoy listening to callers and listen to different opinions. But I always enjoy when one of the guest house come in because it's three, you guys can to rotate a lot and all three of unique to yourselves and great personality. And you control the show just like insure. Well, thank you man. You know, let me ask you what you think about this. Caller will call in about his team, Wendy. What do you think about my team? We got chances then on Wednesday, same caller, same thing. Now, what do you really really think about our team and chances and then on Friday? Is there any hope for my team and chances? I mean when when you hear people asking the same questions about the same team, they do those people listen, or do they get so one track in what they want to say. And then when the bell goes off, like a desert, when you pull somebody up, does the shock go through them and they just get stage fright cause they know millions and millions and billions of people all around the world in little satellites, best story to stars and throw the dark holes in suck O's and everything else and being back, do you think that kinda makes them a little nervous that does happen every now that you can tell you can tell when you're listening? I can tell what I'm hosting. When the the click happens and you're, you're on the air and. Then all of a sudden you can sense the person discount of. I wish I had some smooth sauce and a wish I knew where these more runs worse. We wake him back up, but there's nothing you can do. That's nothing you can do. They just gonna be who they are and you know what? On Wednesday and Friday, you're when asked same question, and that's who they'll be up until they wake up in the middle of the season and three and six. And that happens for more of them than there are nine or no, yes, it is. And you know, the one thing of learned about Nick saving, Nick Sabin when you listen to them and all the all the media people, they, they just got Nick, Sabin perched up there. You know, Nick Sabin went through this thing where all we need is a game manager. A game manage. I saw we need. We don't need the superman of superman quarterbacks. We need a game manager and guess what? Auburn has always had quarterback running backs in tackles, and, and but savings getting managers. Now, the sudden saving has to have tackles and tied ins and and quarterback. He's got to have a quarterback. Pudding, Nick Sabin up on this pet store. The game is so far out in front of Nick Sabin. He has to catch up, but everybody says, oh, he's the best there is the best to ever will be. And right now who bear, who bear, who shook who break this one, we are Auburn, Tigers our damn equal. We're only getting faster great..
