"It. So it was a big hit to say the least this weekend for me. And Wakanda and I are both singing the praises of food. You could understand that we know what we're talking about. Let's take a, let's take a look. Try as you might, you can't beat our meat. It's backyard butchers dot com, use that promo code JR, I'm telling you, you're gonna be glad you did. So here's the big idea that Ricky steamboat pitches to Vince McMahon when he comes back in 1991 to the WWF. Quote, I'd never had a match where I worked as a heel. When I started in 1976, I was always a face. And the reason for that was the heel would always lead the match. Now for me to graduate to be a heel, most times you started out as a face, and then you got good, transfer over to a heel, and you were the guy in charge. So I never had an opportunity to work as a heel, although in the WWF in 91, I expressed my desire to work as a heel, and the response I got back was that it would never work. Said I was the consummate baby face, and it would probably hurt my career. I tried to push them to do it hard and said, let me go into a mask. Let me go under a full suit and cover up my body. I won't throw any chops. I'll just kick and punch and I'll be a heel. Then the big surprise. If we can carry this thing through after about a year or so, have somebody finally take the mask off and hopefully the response we would get from fans will be, oh my God, all this time it's been Ricky steamboat, but they wouldn't buy it. That's an interesting idea, Jim. Do you think it could have worked? Well, it's all about execution. It wouldn't be my first choice, Conrad. You know, I think that pat Patterson's instincts are around the money. Ricky was a baby face. That's what people wanted to see him as. And so and I understand and appreciate Ricky's desire to repackage himself and to hit the reset, but I really do. But I just never thought and maybe I'm too close minded on things like this and even in the aforementioned and often talked about Austin turn. I just didn't feel it. And I think that's for Patterson was. He just didn't feel steamboat being a heel. And that it would work. And Patterson's so much influence events don't matter like that. That it was scary. So a pattern didn't like it. There's a good chance it ain't gonna happen. Steamboat has said they told him they were going to start him off slow and build him back up to the top of the card in a few months. Well, after about 6 months, he still in the opening or second match against guys like the Brooklyn brawler or Paul Roma or skinner. He's obviously frustrated and gives notice. And they ask him to do two stretcher jobs at the October 21st TV taping. As a reminder now, this is after he came in in March of 91, so now in October, he's asked to leave and given his notice and they want him to do two stretcher jobs for the undertaker in IRS, steamboat apparently refuses. He's fired on the spot. Of course I know you're not there at this time. You're on the other station. Are you hearing about this? What's the industry thinking of. His inability to assimilate, I guess? 'cause that's the way it feels from the outside looking in now. Well, the, I think, oh, heck, the dirt didn't travel as fast then as it does now. There you go. So it wasn't like a topic of conversation on the lips of everyone. But he heard rumblings. Right. And then anytime you have a talent, IE, in this case, Ricky steamboat that might be become available again at some point in the future. That does raise a certain level of curiosity. You know, is there something we could do with Ricky as the innocent coming back here? Does he really want to wrestle anymore? How much does he want? Of his own time as he wanted to vote to his career or are we on the other side of that now and he's looking to figure a way to exit this long-term career or not? So many questions has to be answered. But if you find out that a talent of his stature and his skill set may become a bad way to join your team again, one has to be interested. Well, they are interested. It takes a whole month and he shows up in WCW at the clash of the champions. Savannah, Georgia, November 19th, just like he debuted back in 89. He's a mystery partner. This time substituting for Barry Windham. He's going to team up with Dustin Rhodes and they defeat arn Anderson and Larry's biscoe that very night to win the tag titles. Made it feels like whenever it doesn't work in the WWF, just come back to WCW. If we're gonna put you in a title picture, man, right away. Well, that's the most convenient title they had. The tag team titles are kind of been floated around here there in yawn. And steamboat was renowned as a tag team guy, even though he was a former NWA champion and had that treasury with flair that we've discussed. But is the roots of Ricky steamboat as far as main event star level was as a tag guy? And I don't know how dusty was thinking. But, you know, the more that best it could work with steamboat, the better Dustin was going to become. That's the influencer guy has. So steamboat was influenced three other guys. The opponents and

"We do do we do do, listen to me. A set of tapings what we did earlier today was great. I didn't tell you right before we clicked record. It's wonderful. We did that together. Just like you and I went to different schools together. That's right. There's a dark match try out for Paul Roma. I want to say that again, y'all. This is no kidding. 1998, and we're doing a dark match tryout for Paul Roma. The former four horsemen gets a couple of matches and never brought back, of course we recall he was one half of power and glory and one of my, I don't know, guilty pleasures. I liked that tag team, but he doesn't get another look here, just these two matches and adios. What'd you think of Paul Roma here in 1998? Great body, nice guy, no charisma. Oh, okay. That's your answer. It's fundamentally sound. He just didn't connect with the audience enough to make the old man happy. All righty, didn't expect that, but there it is, baby. We start to say seeds of dissensions in the nation are growing with rock and Farouk. They're both trying to act like they're the leaders and comma and delo we're having a tough time and always leads to them losing matches to Ken Shamrock. And this is one of those slow build storylines that really get over great. In real life, Rowan, any issue about him, maybe being transitioned out from being a leader or did he not take it too seriously as long as the checks cleared, I'm good with it. That latter part covered it all. There you go. He was working for a payday and earned as much as he could and the way he did that was to perform at a high level. He did that. He knew what his job was, his job was to accentuate and embellish The Rock's TV persona. I thought that Ron Simmons did a great job in that respect. That was his assignment, and he pulled it off. Something we couldn't pull off, though, is cornett coming out with Dennis Carlos and Howard Brody, the president and vice president of the NWA. They're going to mention old great champions like luth as and Harley race, and they're going to announce that they're going to crown a new NWA North American champion. Jeff Jarrett is going to be taking on Barry Windham, the former NWA world heavyweight champion. And they do what master would call a terrible match with Jarrett mainly clowning around rather than wrestling, and his Wyndham set up a superplex coral so distracted the raft cornette hit Windham with his tennis racket and jira is crowned champion. They do a big presentation in the ring with cornett brodie and corus. And of course Jeff Jarrett, and then here comes stone cold. The first three get out of the ring, Jarrett doesn't see it coming. He gets the stoner and of course we all know famously, Austin mocks the Jarrett strut. And man, this actually is Fargo strep, but go ahead. Yeah. This whole thing is dead right away. Getting the water, baby. My goodness. Like, don't get me wrong. I love the idea of Jeff Jarrett and stone cold. Having some sort of receipt for the promo and dust up and go to a program. But that doesn't happen. And this segment where it feels like once upon a time we're actually going to put some resources and effort into this, we're going to sign the real NWA world champion and we're going to crown a new North American champion and we're going to bring in these figure heads and we're going to have cornette cut these scathing promos. All right, here we go. Oh, never mind. Let's just dunk on it. I'm also just kill it. Right away. And then not build to a match with him and Jarrett. In hindsight, probably not the best idea. No, and I don't think Austin had any interest in whatsoever and working with jif. So why does it happen? Why even let stone cold come kill it if we're not going to turn it into a match? I think when the more the deeper we got into the NWA content, the more that Vince felt, it was not going to work. Right. So cut it off. Gotcha. And that's what they did. And they used Austin as a tool as a mechanism to cut it off. Well it is cut off deader than Kelsey's nuts as somebody used to say. Next up, we would see the outlaws beat the headbangers and after the match cactus and chainsaw come out and cactus doesn't interview you introducing himself to WWF fans, saying he's going to bring blood and barbed wire into the WWF in 1998. And that his childhood hero is chainsaw Charlie, one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, and then of course chainsaw does, what's described as being a Terry Fox style promo. Well, duh. And then we see even Don king do a taped interview on raw that's really going to get the mainstream hype going for Mike Tyson. Was the deal always to have king appear was there. I think behind the scenes, there was some, hey, we'll do this, but not without dawn king, and all of that may be happened in the middle of this. Was there originally an idea that maybe Don king would be in Mike Tyson's corner for something and Vince McMahon would be in somebody else's corner or some such? No. No. Okay. We needed Don king for a sound bite. Okay. We need a Don king to get to married on our TV. Back to Mike, where she has a strong relationship with over the years. So no, there's never Vince would never get in the ring with Don king because how do you trust him? You know, he's not

"They said these guys are perfect. And unfortunately, what the movie wanted to pay and what WWF wanted for their services. Big gap. Gotcha. So they suggested Paul Roma and Jim powers. WWF did. Because they would work for the money. The wild stallions. So they came out. To do a screen test. Well, it didn't make the break. And then I think like I said they ended up with roddy and for the bad guys. For the bad gotcha. And I had to call back WW F and say, well, they're not going to use those two guys. Right. And they said, well, I'll let the boss know and probably be disappointed. But that was it. It wasn't right for the movie to make happen. Well, the next thing, though, now Ed and I had developed a bit of a relationship, he was a fan of certain musical tastes that I had and we talked a little bit more comfortably. And it was easier to get ahold of them. I would call them, are you going to call back? And at least I had shown him that I had the ability to try to connect talent. With a real job. I wasn't just some person out wanting to meet wrestlers. So then, of course, I had seen Jesse on Tuesday night Titans. Everything from his reverend attitude to prince, show me on the phony prince. Oh, did he? Oh, he brought on an impersonator. And he tried to convince he kept saying McMahon, look at this. Prince is here. I brought prince to the show. That's great. I didn't know that. Tuesday night Titans were one of my favorite viewing spots for wrestling. And I said to him, I'd like to connect with Jesse Ventura. And he said, well, I don't know, let me see out of the blue. I didn't bother him again. Out of about two weeks later, he goes, hey, I think I can make a phone call happen for you, me and Jesse. I said, great. That'd be wonderful. We got on a phone call together. No zoom. Nothing like that. You're able to even get three people. Connect people on a party line like that. And now we're still in 1985. And again on with Jesse and at the end of the conversation, Jesse says, hey, when I'm in LA next and I'm going to ask to be booked there when I can be. Why don't we meet? Well, now it turns out where he was going to be in LA on May 16th, 1985. And I was looking through what we call breakdowns. What parts were available for actors all over. And I saw there was a role in a show called hunter at Stephen cannell productions. And Stephen cannell was doing the 18 and big time big, big top television producer. He's no longer with us as well, but Stephen Jay can Allison. Good for you. And I called up the casting head of talent, Simona, and I said, I've got someone for you for this role. It wasn't a big role, but it was very dramatic, physical role. And he said, well, can you come in and audition? And that's when I said, Jesse, when do you think you could be here? I said, I have an audition for you. Really? And that was the first time he came out. We met. I had never met him before. There he was with I die and the big guns and you know, and the hair and everything. And the 6 earrings in each ear. The jewel in his dimple. And I sat there, I was sitting in the lobby of Stephen cannell productions a few other actors were there and he walked in. And he taken a cab, and he walked in. And I looked at him, and I said, gee, I hope this is a guy saying. Because he looked very intimidating. And friendliest can be. He's such a great guy. Jesse winter. Yeah. Just wonderful guy, you know, we were talking, and I said, well, let me if you want me to go over the material with you before you go upstairs for the audition. He goes, sure, I'll read it a few times. You read through it and he felt comfortable with it. Went up, I got a call an hour and a half later. At my office, that was cell phone. My office, we want to hire Jesse winter. That's great. And I thought, okay, great. I felt very, very good about what I had done. And Jesse said, wow, that was easy. And you know Jesse will, you know? He will look at that till categorize it. It's okay. That's how I did it. And I'm going to do it again. I'll tell you another part of that story about when he did it again. But that was my first client in wrestling. And he did the job, he came out to do hunter. And that night he had wrestling in Long Beach, so I had a stop time for him. I was almost set with him, we're there with Fred dryer. He did the scene in a couple of takes, did a great job. And sure enough that we had to leave and go to Long Beach and I drove him to Long Beach to wrestle Tito Santana. He just said on my podcast a couple of weeks ago, it was his all time favorite opponent. It was a great match. He called him Chico out loud of the ring. And he said to me after we were going home, what I was heading home, getting it back to where he needed to fly out. He said, can you believe an arena with somi Latinos? Yelling for me. I said, well, you know, everyone loved just. Everyone, even though he was the bad guy.

"Yeah. I would think they'd have access to all these. I think. I think the key is that we're going to get all these what julie style said before. They fired him We're gonna get all these. Eventually i think is the word right. Yeah because you know. I mean i understand. It takes a certain amount of time to get all these two to clear to ec wsb case to wipe out the original music. But they don't have the rights for But yeah it's it's i know it's a it's a time consuming process. I get upset. When i their stuff that i know they have because it was on it was on when they did. W w twenty four seven and we haven't seen it yet. There's plenty of old stuff from plenty of old stuff from the garden in the spectrum from back in the day that were that are there that we're still waiting on and I think there's enough stuff that they can be uploading pretty much forever right. Well you know maybe maybe that's the strategy you know maybe time it out I know with ring of honor's ringside membership. We do have quite a bit We have all the shows and then We kind of stagger out some of the other older things just re added o. H. goes ultraviolet which is pretty cool. You become a ringside member and get discount on that So we we kinda stagger things in a way that you can't see everything at once but You know. I'm wondering if that's the same thing. Maybe so they don't burn out there viewers. Because if i took a week off from work i would probably just sit home and watch you know i only watch the network and watch the ringside membership stuff and just veg out. So i could blue rally hundred hours of this stuff and no problem. I'm married. I can't do that anymore but i i get the i understand. I understand completely all right. Five one five six five nine three four five we also Let's see we also didn't really get the get to talk much about be shows now east w they would do shows and they would. They would sort of stagger who got left off the The house shows so you'd get to see you know maybe so maybe two or three of the would you consider the top guys wouldn't make it and i mean that and the fact that they weren't running seven days a week is how they managed to keep the tally somewhat fresh. Because that's a that was a very High impact style there Do remember but any Do any wwf. Wcw shows where you got to see you know not necessarily hulk hogan stand up i. Yeah so the the big one that comes to mind I went to. Alan allentown fairgrounds in nineteen ninety. One and this was after they had stopped taping. Tv there This this was the very famous ag hall though and they actually did a did an outdoor show at the fairgrounds and it was It was big boss man and The mountie steel cage and all right. That was actually an awesome really match. But i remember. I was really confused and disappointed. Because i have the results up and i remember there being so many switches and things like that. So they had announced cocoa. Beware versus paul roma and paul roma this september. And so paul. Roma had just left so it became koby. Wherever's is the brooklyn brawler and then it was supposed to be. Irs versus jim knight heart They did a thing where jim knight heart had then figuring ford to death by ric flair on tv So incontinence continuity about continuity yeah irs versus tony atlas. Who had been gone for a good nine months by that point And then i got to see the rare combination of the new rockers. Mardi janetti jim powers Shane douglas had been filling in. But we got jim powers Versus pat tanaka and colonel mustafa and then we also all right. Yeah we're supposed to. Jim duggan vs sid justice. I remember being pumped about sid But he got switched out four typhoons and so we a we got a very interesting card That was my first ever. wwf show. Yeah some of the other big cards. I i'd seen In two thousand one. I went to see a wwf. Show at state where arena or at. We've two thousand two rather and there was a fella named ross mcculloch and is the first and only time i'd seen him. He was a seven footer face. Tommy dreamer i think he'd beat tommy dreamer and i'm just a very cool presence. You know. legit seven foot guy But i be just kind of came and went so be shows. Were kinda neat. Because you know the wrestling nerd. I kind of go through results and you'll see russ mcculloch kind of pop up and you know here today. Gone tomorrow Kind of thing and you kind of wonder you know why you know why they were there while they weren't you know in the eighties. Brickhouse brown was a guy that seemed to pop up on. Wwf shows all the time But he was always kind of a mainstay somewhere else so. It's always interesting to see things like that. I'm looking through Looking through the first show. I remember capital center landover maryland july twenty seventh nineteen ninety Quite the the main event Hacksaw jim duggan and tugboat defeated earthquake and dino bravo that. Because you know duggan and tugboat we're trying to the injury to coke and you'll recall that one. Yes the match. That i remember enjoying a lot was Demolition beating the hart foundation long match the ability at ringside for smash crush that end the big boston and db aussie. That's that's good now. The rest of the show The african dream akeem defeating pez wildly. Yeah Paul paul roma feeding paul. Diamond nothing roads a rare appearance for him. this is before he actually debuted on wwf tv defeated playboy buddy rose and the warlord overstaying houston..

Television was like nineteen ninety-five where there is some back door deal allowed one of the irish channels to show a live match on saturday afternoon from any which english people weren't able to see. I don't even think it was. I think it was a five or ten minute. Delay wasn't really yeah. I never knew that. I think it was like a trick. Trio foy start or something if i remember remember headed wow that's all it wasn't technically life. I think was the holiday of ask interesting dot stephanie ninety-five era. That was happening. Because i remember watching spurs match with klinsmann than elite dimitrescu. And that was the time where they had ozzie. You less formation that they got criticized for because it was like five striker. Five for like a Nick barmby dimitrescu teddy sheringham. A pasco in clinton's men all just round page ashfield yet the For yesica ninety. Three ninety four dumpty. Wcw we would have been watching album or and or if was a mainstay on television like he was he wasn't the top e. but he was very much a prominent. He'll was on the show pretty much every week. In a featured spot and he transitioned from being a solo guy to being part pretty wonderful. Paul roma on. I remember specifically pretty wonderful robes like it was an act Stood out to me at that time. Like hollywood glunz did as i got older and that became a distant memory because it ended a i remember when the last things ever saw was them promoted hogan coming in. They had the disney hogan arriving at the disney studios and i never remember seeing anything with hogan on their after that. So i can. That was around the time to end it. And you know when you're when you're in your child years early teens like a year will seem like a lifetime so very quickly after ending. It seemed like a distant memory. But whenever i would think active whether it's in the early happens or whatever whenever i take box era the Pretty wonderful paul lab or would have been very much image. I would have thought about it. And i think that's where he mostly was on my radar from. Oh yeah about. I definitely remember the early prayer. Pretty wonderful ron leagues. They were pre prominent. I think there are tag team. Trump's very early on as soon as they formed as a ham. We've talked about this in paris and actually did you go to the nineteen ninety-three dublin. Wcw show sadly naw savvy. Knock putting over to leave before to show obama chain joy. Listen to wade. Old pro wrestling focused radio shows. They clearly just to talk the back..

"Lend eddie graham as well worked in memphis midsouth mid atlantic georgia championship wrestling and joined the wwf. Nineteen eighty-three and even before that he had a tag team in mid south with ted to be aussie winning the mid south tag team. Titles against Michael hayes and terry gordy In nineteen eighty and I think he even. I think even teamed with the junkyard dog that same kind of that same area. He was a single star in mid south five time. North american heavyweight champion beginning in may nineteen seventy eight and from the team with With jimmy snuka mid-atlantic. I mean he was all over the place and he worked with a whole bunch of the greats of course joining the the wwf after that when he when he started he joined in. Vince mcmahon's national expansion. Plans order was he was one of the principal individuals involved in the promotion of the very first wrestlemainia of course he. He teamed with roddy piper against hulk. Hogan and mr t. at the inaugural wrestlemainia eighty five. But then on top of that he is one of the key components that made wrestle a nut wrestlemainia but but hulkamania work. He was the complete diametric opposite of hulk hogan an attitude right. He was still charismatic. Abbadi guy sure. All of that but orndorff was in personality. The perfect foil for for hulk hogan if i if i remember correctly and i didn't if i remember correctly After the wrestlemainia match roddy piper blamed orndorff for the loss so that led into an angle where orndorff aligned with hulk hogan only to turn on hogan after that in orndorff joined the heenan family. So you know he was. He was perfect in this type of situation to be the he'll and especially a fantastic foil for a whole cogan and of course i'm pretty sure a lot of you have read a lot of the history of paul orndorff. Of course he was. He headlined the big event at In toronto at the toronto exhibition stadium back in eighty six. Eighty six where The event drew like seventy. Wwe says i think seventy four thousand people drew. But i think it's like sixty one thousand paid. Look i mean these are details. It was a huge event and he was. He wasn't the headline. he was main eventing with the with ogan in love. Wwe in nineteen eighty Where where he'd wrestle in multiple places in his last major run was with Wcw in late nineteen ninety two where he formed pretty wonderful team with paul roma one. What a way to what a way to go. But he transitioned out of the ring in nineteen ninety five Started working as an agent for wcw. And i think It's around this period. Where the the legend the big story popped up where he where he he knocked he not vader down got got into a fight with them and just clocked down..

"Past week yet so i i really got into wrestling around wrestlemainia. One bank eighty four. Eighty five is as far my. Wb payment misery wonderful. Was that guy to hate because in a lot of ways. The bizarre over of whole. Kobe like incredible physique. But you know he was that guy that you just wanted to hate. Because he's so he's so You're not always the best promo guy. That's why they have piper that later bobby heenan but just phenomenal technical wrestler and then had the worst in the power to back it up And then you get down later. Life like the With paul roma wbz. Pretty wonderful tag team you know. Just just the solid solid career I wanted to tell this story. I thought about it this week after after hearing about his acid. And you talk about you know so young so about probably three and a half four years ago i had some friends of mine That were booked on a big Independent show in georgia and it was like superstar euro things where you had a bunch of legend coming in and then a bunch of independent workers and mr wonderful was on the show and he was in decent hell but at the time he was able to cut a move around us the move around well the promoter of a show building gutter are set up and then disappeared in not just disappeared disappear with everybody's money and a bunch of guys start looking for track down to his mother's house and one of the guys are wonderful told him. Hey you know we found this promoter. We know that you know attract our money and or nor hop in the truck with these guys and drove to the house and begged on. The guy's door is listen if you don't you don't get in the boys our buddy in the next thirty minutes. I'm kicking down the door a kick your ass at sixty seven years old Like blown away by like you know. Here's a guy who's alleged sticking up for all of them you know and it was really just really funny. Stories like we. I think that show happened on a friday as those guys are rocket city the next night. Tell me that story how crazy it was but you know like i said like he's one of those guys that was just the quintessential he'll Just the guy that you love to hate and just a beautiful solid. Great career In in business so Disad -em passing than. I thought somebody great post on facebook showing like all the members of the heenan family. The passing on. I said Hunter heenan families gone. Yeah like except for hukou. That's true the of our burien right. But i think like every one of hogan's opponents for the first year four was was warrior wrestlemainia six. He was six. Yeah so everyone is opponents from wrestlemanias wonder five of now passed away so just just crazy. How the wrestling will work just shows you also like the guys like you and me have been wrestling fans our entire lives. It doesn't seem that long times about wrestlemainia you know wrestlemainia. Five doesn't seem that long ago you look and you're like man that's like thirty five years ago forty years ago it's it's crazy how the time flows through the rest of the. Yeah i by the way. I'm remiss jira barberry was not part of the family so hakuou yet. He is the only member left of the heenan family. Unfortunately still with us Were brooklyn brawler. Also yeah and then. I'm also seeing these photos of our burying with the heenan family so i think that's kind of up there. There's a whole bunch of there's also blanchard arn andersen obviously but the core eighties or lowered. When you family think of andrei bundy or door. Mr perfect you brought rude but the bundy you think of those core guys. Big john study john. Yeah they're all gone and then later into the late nineties when he started getting the Who's the the brooklyn brawlers. Brain busters those guys. But you know that a family from like eighty four we like eight like that was the heel faction of wwe was tabbed. They're right. I think he had that He was working as a baby face and he was like hogan's protege and then that led to what i think it was not the big event. What was it in toronto to remember. Was this saturday night main event. Maybe maybe on something. They usually like the war to settle the score. No that wasn't a really big shows in toronto. It's set up what they would do on tuesday nights for like a month. You know they would be these big super shows. I think is your sense made a band or one of those take shows for ide- to recap when you what happened. It was the big event. That's what it was called so august. Twenty eighth nineteen eighty six exhibition stadium in toronto ontario canada. It was a special house. Show it drew a crowd over seventy four thousand fans which was an outdoor attendance record at the time And it was featured on vhs tape then it would later popped up in the deputy network and was headlined by hulk hogan defeating paul orndorff to retain wf world champion. He won via disqualification. So that was the big event in toronto headline to round the hogan orndorff feud of the time so sad news. Wwl famer paul orndorff. Mr wonderful passing away. The age of seventy one thoughts and prayers. Go out to he and his family and friends and fans during this time. I hate to always talk about this when we lose wrestling legend and we lost another one this past week in mr wonderful Dr trae. let's wrap up this week. "Said you're changing her name here tweaking. The stuff is like pain. No it's to the man behind the curtain. You know i it's it's it's just baffling how they pulled us off. The tray like what is actually ever done to deserve to call up like i like. We talked about the the best. Male resident at the league is benjamin ted. So not sure. If there's just a somebody in the office was like h. She's cute. Bring her up the main rock. But then are you giving up on mandy rose by sending her to 'cause once you go to jeff we don't see a lot of people come back from Is a little bit baffling how all these things lay out in the name changes like recall her knocks because it rhymes with mocks. Like i don't really get that. Like let her have her name. And then the hell. I liked economics. But you can tell me taking more deserving to be called up into kodi like that to me is really crazy so i appreciate them trying to strengthen the women's division because you know outside of the top few women have been you know a little bit lacklustre depth divisions but it just doesn't make sense in it is kinda like about the horrible stuff it literally is like inex- is on its own different universe in time-line than the rest of wwe. It's disrespectful to the fans at That watch it each and every week that you're just supposed to always forget about what they did in annex t Until he until it's convenient it doesn't it doesn't make any sense at all it'd be the same thing. If if they call up carrying cross soon. I like i just feel like once i saw shots. He knocks by the way speaking of carrying cross. I'm mealy thought that like when carrying cross hold up he's just going to be called carrying right like or cross. It's gotta be one of them and that's going to be his name cross vs breaks. Yeah it's it's it's one of those the no surprise daming pretty. Savory obviously got to keep his name. May because vince is like no. we can't call them damian. Damn at the confusing for jake. The snake roberts. Snake damian is okay call me damien be hansa blackheart. You know it's it's just the thing like shotsie ember. Were such a great tag team. It really truly were and you have shots debut and leaves her tag team partner behind to tied with knox with no background or story whatsoever. Like why are we doing this by the way. I'm waiting there for them to start smelling shotsie like they spill biggie. Lighter name is literally shot the dot dash with an eye. Though for no reason your way back you make ricochet irish and column rick use for. I'm i'm sticking with joke because literally they call them that on a down down. I i think the best still is. You know it was. At three weeks of vignettes hyping teague knox return she finally returns at the great american bash to have the payoff to get revenge against kansas. The ray three days later on smackdown. There's no follow up the following week on on the next day. And she's got it she's gone like basically vince came in and said fuck. You van a aaa cheer. This is done. i'm taking her. I don't care like at least. They followed up. The indy hartwell dexter room stuff. And i thought that was dead for awhile. I thought lewis is getting like. I was actually just thinking about that. I was thinking it's funny. How you bring that up. Because i was thinking like man. I haven't seen decks alumnus on television a long time. And the whole andy hartwell thing in pop you know. He finally pops up then. The other one was bobby fish. Like bobby fish was was going. After pete done and only larkin. They're going to have a match. And then like i think the match there's going to be a follow up. There was a vignette with him. Like kicking a punching bag. And i'm coming for you. And he disappeared for four weeks and then pops up against diamond mine. So yeah it's just bizarre it tr- we just need more undisputed era guys from registered era guys with one another i guess in annex taste so it's disappointing ultimately like happy for the wrestlers but we're just disappointing that the execution because if you're like out to train i and you invest all this time where you're watching mondays. You're watching tuesday's you're watching friday's for the wb products. Then you watch somebody. From the tuesday product goto the friday product. And you completely forget about the entire history and past of the rest on tuesday products. Like why the hell am. I watching like ultimately it's like. Why do i watch like especially when annex t and i know it doesn't show this viewership to me longtime wrestling fan. One of their best brands if not the best brand year-in-year-out is nfc. It's like its most exciting. Most energy most fun. And we don't give a shit when they leave annexed and you just blow it all up. It's just bizarre really bizarre such. Wbz thing to do you hate it. Like i feel like when we look back in time we're gonna find out according to reports. I mean we talked about recently that they were going to go down the pc. That vince wanted more. Fresh new blood on the ross wanted swap. Some people out. Like i don't think the end of it like i think you're going to see some stars from ron smackdown. Make the way to annex seed. You're gonna see similar now in the mail brands. As well like i'm expecting carrying cross and bronson read in the next month or two to be on raw smackdown like that's that's my expectation at this point and you may see some names. That are recognizable. Like a mandy rose on raw come over tannock see get a little bit more play than they were getting on raw smackdown each week but then again in I think two and a half months. The draft is coming crazy theory here. But why don't you have raw smackdown and all involved. And not just ron smackdown and do all that shit. Then it's shocking crazy. That's a part like we just go from like excitement. Fans are back to. Here's the shitty booking like it always goes back to that like no rhyme. No reason completely forget about it. Be happy for the rest of the for. Forget about everything that you just watch the last eight months on an xt. They're up here now. No reason whatsoever teagan in cianci didn't over the reference but here they are now tag team with a logo and everything Sabin a news as we switch gears here earlier this week. "Torch v. i. p. Let's move to some other topics here. I will go back to Money in the bank talk and the return of crowds. I do want to address the death of paul orndorff or paul ornoff as owned off. Hokkaido can always had trouble saying the are in orndorff for some reason he. He died Just few days ago at age seventy one actually yesterday at age seventy one. And was i think greg in the conversation. She should be in any conversation as the best opponent for hogan. The orndorff hogan friendship and break-up is cited as a template for long-term bookings in pro wrestling's realm subtleties that that foreshadow it turns and it also just produced at the box office. The the hogan feud. It didn't have that iconic wrestlemainia mo- hogan andre type moment. The timing just didn't work out but orndorff was a fantastic fo in those early hulkamania years in the eighties. What to talk about a little bit greg and in his place in legacy in wrestling you're talking about the the formative years of hulkamania in the wwf. You can't have that conversation without paul orndorff and and the role he played. And like you said you know from a box office standpoint from a creative standpoint. It was a tremendous success and a lot of people you know. We'll talk about hogan's partnership and then Turn with with macho man randy savage as one. That was a very creatively. Well done and so. Sometimes you know the the orndorff thing sort of gets lost in the shuffle. Because you know you have. His opponents like andre. The giant which was was a much bigger match at wrestlemainia three than than any match. Like you said with with orndorff. So it's sorta does get unfortunately lost in the shuffle a little bit but it was still at that you know. It was the combination of hulkamania breaking out in the wwf. Combination of wwf. Really going national and and booming in the united states and getting on mtv. And you know. Saturday night's main event and things like that so He was an important figure in those Early days of hall mania in the wwf. and it it was the upward trajectory of hulkamania. Orndorff helped it and it was. You know guys like orndorff. It was guys like andre the giant and guys like that who kept hulkamania on that upward trajectory. Time so Sometimes that he doesn't get the credit he deserves. I think But yeah certainly an important figure. And i mean when you think of wrestlemainia one i think of hulk hogan i think of mr t. I think of roddy piper. I think of bob morton. And i think of cindy lauper. Personally i think even. Jimmy don't get before thinking paul orndorff which is kind of sad but i think that at the time order was not the primary character in that in that tag team feud with everything that led to wrestlemania one. But by the time warner really had that great feud with With hogan he had taken he had moved up to another level and that was the peak of his career but he had so many good years as not quite sure how to how to categorize work before. Wwe but because he definitely wasn't a journeyman he was a rising star but he wasn't like a centerpiece buzz generating attraction before that so he was just a good fit because he wasn't the best in ring worker but he was he he he was a good promo and had an or a to him and then a physique that fit with vince mcmahon was looking for at the time he was just a good fit for the wwf during during that time period. And it's why he he probably rose again. He wasn't a great promo and he wasn't in the top tier at all in terms of entering work. Yet he had other strengths that were needed to be a top star during that era. Yeah unfortunately for me. You know when i started watching wrestling in the early nineties you know looking at nineteen thousand nine hundred ninety one. He had already left the wwf by that point. He was in wcw for a short time. But i didn't really get into. Wcw until a few years. After i got into the wwf. And and you know my. I think first impression of paul orndorff in. Wcw was as part of pretty wonderful with paul roma so my my introduction to wrestling came at a time when he was sort of out of the public eye in terms of you know a comparison to where he was in the early eighties so Unfortunately i he doesn't have a as great a spot in my memory of professional wrestling in the early days of my viewing as he does for a lot of people who did live through that that early hulkamania days era and can see him as more important historical figure than someone who maybe didn't start watching a little later when when during the ninety s when orndorff wasn't wcw. I felt like he deserved better than he got into. All these. Www it during the early nitro years was just as collection of all these wrestlers. Who had been big names and they were just under utilized in others. Weren't you know it had a lot to do with politics. A lot had to do with what eric bischoff was familiar with or what other people are familiar with who who they liked and wanted to work with but there were more than a handful of wrestlers in the nitro years is like man. They should be getting more out of this purse. More out of this wrestler. They have more to give than getting an order was one of them and i know he had the issue with the atrophied arm and they it's not like they didn't do anything with him but the the the recognition of what he meant. During a stretch of of those early wrestlemainia years i felt was lacking that oral wasn't celebrated. By w w as much as it could have been well. Yeah and what's really curious about. That is when hulk hogan got to wcw and maybe you know the arm and and how broken down orndorff was at that point. Maybe they didn't believe that he could have been put in a Major singles feud. But you know when hogan came any brought a lot of his cronies into wcw and he relived a lot of his old wwf. He had a feud with roddy piper. He had a feud with with the warrior when they brought him in. And and guys like that. So you know orndorff played a very big role in hulk hogan's early days in the wf. I'm sure why he didn't push for orndorff to do something with him a little more than he did. Yeah i mean there was The hogan and savage faced orndorff and paul roma pretty wonderful team on episode of of television. I don't think it was nitro. So but yeah. I mean it's just that what so. Yeah i i remember watching those years man there. There's something here that they could do. That would be fresher but again i think we'd have to get into the weeds on the exact timing of the politics and who was pushing for main event spots but i i understand the rationalization of his age at that point and he just wasn't the same and he also was just perfect for that that mid mid to late eighties wwf. The the strengths were what was valued by vince. Mcmahon at the time in the weaknesses didn't matter in wcw argue you know yet. Ten years to his age ten years from his peak as star and then the fact that he wasn't a great worker at a time when that was going on but he wasn't super tall and he didn't have friends in the right places it it led to him not really having a huge second stint as as a top star. So yeah but i mean be used for a couple of years a few years in w w in a pretty decent way but i always felt like there was more to get out of him during that during a pretty long span in.

"Son kind of sort of made a debut last night from what I'm told I didn't get a chance to watch it. I was watching playoff basketball, anything having to do with ARN Anderson. I am in folks aren't Anderson's one of those guys? I just liked him As a kid. I know we just played the ric flair for the music at Ric Flair probably had something to do with it. But anything having to do with ARN Anderson? I just like like, I know he was in the four horsemen which were supposed to be bad guys and heels and all that stuff. And yes, you know what didn't like Tele Blanche in I certainly didn't like Paul Roma. Certainly there were times I hated Ric flair when I was a little kid. Wanted Ric flair to lose everything like Dusty Rhodes. What do I mean? What? I'm shooting fish in a barrel. We just lost. This was the anniversary of us losing him a few years ago just to stay five years ago. Just this day or yesterday, I should say And that's the beauty of having Twitter. Still, man is there's always video. Remembering the greats from yesteryear. Including the great dusty roads. We get to remember him every day because of that. Which will play that theme coming up at one o'clock as we are what to do. But I love ARN Anderson. And you damn well better play my arm at the end of the show or I swear colander. I'm going to drive there and it's going to be a beaten. I'll give you the I will give you a spine buster right there in Central Jersey. Are you ready for that? Um well, better be. I'm not ready for that. Speaking of fights again. I brought this up right before Brian Baldinger joined us. I got tweeted a video. If you're going to have a fight in the stands, high ground winds. I don't condone fights in the stands. I think they're dangerous. I think they're stupid. I think that there's a lot of elderly people might be around you. People can't defend themselves who you could roll in and hurt others because of your momentum falling forward. But If you've got to fight the stands, for whatever reason you better have the high ground. I'm willing to tell you if you're up there in the nosebleeds if you're in the 700 run to the other section Run as high as you can. Then run back over. Come back down and then fight the guy. If you have the low ground, get the high ground and then start your fight. Do not go low ground, which which makes this fight with the Nuggets fan and the jazz fan even more impressive or the Phoenix fan? I beg your pardon, the Sun's fan and the Nuggets fan even more impressive because the Sun's fan has low ground he's in the lower sees in the lower Row. And he still gets the win. Did you see this real quick? Connor, Did you see this? I did not see that. No, I got a pot. I got away. I got to turn that sound down because I don't want anybody say anything. Where you have Denver. You have Denver fan who puts away something in his pocket, and then he's ready to take a swing. Suns fan grabs him by the top. He made a total mistake. He overreached. This is the problem. I'm watching this video. You have a girlfriend in there. See, this is where the fights are getting crazy because I said a couple weeks ago there was a White Sox fight. Two women were fighting a guy got in the middle. They started beating him up. It was like an episode of Jerry Springer. So can are you watching this now? Get on my twitter and watch this right now, Connor. As you see, Shirtless, Basketball Jersey guy or excuse me, bareback Basketball Jersey guy. How do these guys start flights? I've never been in a situation like this. You're in a loud basketball arena. So they reach up Guys behind. Put your stuff away. Then takes a swing. He takes another suite. He got one good one, and you can tell, but he reached too far and when he reaches too far The guy from the low ground. Grabs him by the top of the jersey and then just starts feed them. How many do we see here? Let's see. Two big swings falls over, got in the low ground 12345678 while eight fence, feed some nine shots overall and gave one to his buddy. And then starts yelling sons and four Quality went for the guy in the low ground. Quality win. I can't condone such practices. This guy definitely had his nose broke. I can't condone such practices. The cops are right there. I think this guy might have spent a night in jail by for what? All it looks like. But if you're going to talk about a win quality win and kept his son's jersey pretty fresh, but I can't still condone it because he's going bareback. With the jersey on Now I have to tell you from personal experience of being in an NBA arena from years ago. They're back Jersey. Guys going to start something, man. It's going to be a good start to the night. It's going to be a bad ending into the night. It's going to end dramatically. It's going to end with nasty texts being sent to a girlfriend or perhaps an ex girlfriend. There's definitely going to be some bloodshed. There's going to be problems. If you go out with one of your buddies Now that we're going out and having good times again Hey, listen, I'm I'm getting past it. I'm gonna be 35 this month. I'm I'm too old for that stuff. But from my memories If you go to pick your buddies up, you guys are going out. Somewhere in one of the districts having a good time. Maybe you're in Kansas City. You got a guy in a basketball jersey with a bareback shirt on you send him back into his apartment. You tell them to go put a shirt on underneath or wear something else. Because it is a heat seeking type of thing, Man. There's certain things where You put it on night's gonna end badly. I say one of those old timey cabbie hats that they wear the newsboy hats. Whatever it is, I think somebody's going to draw back and swing at you. You were a basketball jersey with nothing on underneath. You're just showing the guns. Someone's going to test you at some point or your boy is going to get out of order..
