"Arriving at your front door. I love dad. You know, it's interesting. And I like the idea of keeping that going because I think a lot of during the pandemic, a lot of companies did those sort of things. My company did a cooking class. Which was super fun. But I do think on that was everybody in the company. They did it for over three days. You signed up for a particular day. It was a lovely event. But I like the team aspect because I think that was a great way of keeping everybody in the company connected with everybody or meet new people or whatever it might be. But on your team, I think that's really important. And something super fun that people can do all together. And it is fun to get that stuff at your door and it's fair that unique experience with everybody. That's really cool. You said, what's a paperless post? It's just basically an E card, but you get to choose the envelope and the wrapper and the stamp and things like that. And so that's just like an E card. Yeah, very cool. Very cool. So what else? You got great tips. What else you got? I have more. Another thing that people don't do enough when they're remote is promote good work. And there's really great tools out there to, again, celebrate the wrap of a really grueling project. Or stellar customer service, just the list goes on and on. And we have tools in our digital workplace now that help us do that. For example, on teams, there's appraised feature. And someone can easily on the team channel or a company channel, pick the praise badge, and it's like a unicorn jumping over a rainbow or things like that. Those may be a little cheesy, but I'll tell you that just someone taking a moment to send that across and recognize someone else and promote their good work in front of a larger group. It feels good. It feels really good. So on teams, there's a praise feature on slack. There's add on apps like donut. That do similar things. And you know what? There's also a good old fashioned at the beginning of a team call. Just spend a moment and give a shout out. And those types of things that, again, used to just kind of come naturally when everyone was colocated. You really need to take a moment and celebrate. So those are some more ideas on sort of the kind of special events category. Don't you think that once you start doing these things, that will become the new norm? You work that muscle, it becomes more natural, do you find that that people sort of get in the groove of that and it becomes more natural? Yeah, I do. And you are always going to have a few people who are like a 100% into it right away. And a few people who are like, okay, now I've seen more people doing it. And then you'll have a few people who maybe choose to participate a lot less. And that's okay. That same with the office parties too, right? You never got a 100% attendance for all three hours that it was going on. And that's okay. So yes, I think that as people start building these new muscles that some of these things will come a little bit more naturally, but I also think that, again, when you're working through your team agreements, laying that out, that these are all methods that are team uses. To celebrate and promote good work, is helpful. And I think that there's also something to be said of scheduled one on one. So we talked about, how do you connect with your team? And build rapport with them. But there's also an element of how do you build your network outside of your team. And something that I did was schedule one on ones. And I'm not talking about I know everyone's like another meeting. This is maybe depending on who it is, maybe two times a year, maybe every quarter or something like that. Someone that you recognize, oh man, I see them in a lot of cross functional meetings. I should really get to know them or they seem like an interesting person or we started together. You know, just something that signals to you that I should connect with them. And almost everyone is like, absolutely. Let's schedule something standing. And so instead of doing it one by one, you've got to go and your calendar and set the four times a year. Every three months or every four months, however you want to do it. And then you just get on the phone and actually the best way to have these types of connections so that they feel organic is to take a walk. Now I live in Portland, Oregon, so it's raining a lot of the time. That's not always possible, but get away from the desk, make sure I personally don't think this is a video on type of situation that you need to have. It's just casual conversation, learning about the individuals and maybe some projects that they're working on. And those types of networking intentional networking have really served me well over the years. I think that's great. Well, I'm getting the rapid up signal, but I want to know as we wrap up today's show. You've given some great tips, do you have any words of wisdom or any thoughts for the future that you'd like to share with our listeners before we sign up? Yes. Hope. You know what? Yay. Hybrid work is here to stay. And we have an exciting opportunity to rethink the way that we work. My recommendation is to start with those awkward pain points around things like we talked about today. Connection and relationship building. And iterate towards something better. And this is a journey. We are in our teenage years. But if we do this right and we really experiment and iterate, we will arrive with a more productive workforce and for sure happier employees. I think so too. Thank you so much, Alexis, for being with us today. You've given me back a little bit more hope and I appreciate that as well. And I hope the same for our listeners. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us today. Thank you for having me here. You can learn more about Alexis by visiting digital by design dot work. "I saw on the east now. I think the netscape are plus one twenty five and i'm not a huge guy for futures. Wagers what did you think about. I know you you win. All what do you think about the plus one twenty five to win the east. Oh i think it's a solid wager. I think the nets have just over a fifty percent chance. And frankly i don't believe in milwaukee at all the fact. They've only got five played in the playoffs for their team last year and the crapped out the playoffs last two years. Those milwaukee teams were better. And this milwaukee team you look at boston's demise and phillies. The only thing that was really realistically seems to be standing in the way of the nets and remember the nets have had the big three of out for more than ten games not playing for their team. This team's only gonna get better and also guys chasing rings wasn't attractive destination. I don't think that brooklyn's done acquiring the assets lob city big men lobbing other big men as an as an addition. You gotta love this team are. Here's very needs to do now. Okay follow my buddy. "So paul while. You're here. Steve had a couple of points he wanted to make. And you can chime in on them. The first steve brice into shambo saved golf. What do you mean tiger. Obviously major injury. We're all wishing him well and doesn't look like tires can be able to play golf anytime soon. Who knows about competitive golf. But i'll make the case. Golf is boring. Golf got popular because tiger woods showing the motion wearing his hard honestly leave and basically making his opponents uncomfortable. Every other golfer wants to make their opponents comfortable. You know they're very cordial they're nice. They don't call anybody out. I love bryson to shambo anti-establishment all my clubs on my irons are gonna be the same length. I don't care the your three irons longer than your seven iron. That's not how i'm going to do it. You take john daly you give him a math degree from mit and three personal trainers. And what you get you get. Bryson campbell argued with referees. He doesn't bend the rules. But he questions them and he tries to drive to the fringe of the green on. Par-five severe dog-legs. This is a guy that everyone's going a bet on bet against and watch and because of that he's gonna drive golf and that's why you can see drafting volume this year. Betting wise be so much higher because of bryce into shambo love it. I love it. Look i dislike any guy. That's a golfer that like lifts weights like that and gets that much bigger. Well he had a strategy and it worked right. I mean he he basically said like if i just get stronger i can hit it further. Give me an advantage. I like it. You bet golf much do you. Paul very rarely. What i usually do is sunday morning before the final round out. Take a look at the leaderboard and maybe a pick to win it. And actually this past weekend. I did take the shambo he was about. I think i got him to twenty five. So i was feeling pretty good about that. I agree with steve though. I'm not a golfer. i do find it boring. He makes it more interesting. And i don't think anybody would argue with that. That drive e had over the water and it was at a happy gilmore. People were going nut. So i think he he does add an edge. I know there's a lot of people that don't like that. He was in the one bunker. And you could hear the. Mike's picked him up. Saying these are the worst bunkers on tour. Now i'm sure there of traditionalists that weren't real. Finding i founded humorous. All right steve gotta get your college basketball basic strategy because here we have all the conference tournaments this week will have selection sunday on sunday next week will be almost all talking about march madness. People had bed it filling out your brackets. We'll do all that next tuesday along with a bunch of nfl stuff because we'll be knocking on the corner of the new league year about. What is your college basketball. basic strategy. Avoid the needle in the haystack bets. And who's been listening to me knows that's pretty much my basic strategy and all these sports the time of the year that the fake batters the media guys have pretend to be they call themselves professional gamblers bullshit because they make recommendations that are and it starts with conference tournaments where they go out and they and they take teams have been playing better of late and just. The team has been improving. They think there's value to bet them to win their conference turney to win the big dance and then they do the well. Once all i need us remained my team to win a couple of games and then i can hedge into a profit. We know what your needs to win..

"One more. This is from january. Auburn at nine and seven is at missouri team again. I don't know if you have a lot of viewers in missouri ross but that missouri team was ranked number twelve in the country auburn at nine and seven favored by two in the game and covered the spread sometimes and again. There's no data year. As far as i know there's some people that only make wagers by looking at numbers. Sometimes i do believe that. There's a reason lines are what they are and those games stand out to me. So he so steve just to piggyback. He's probably paul's probably giving me twenty of these this year. And they're probably like fifteen in five i mean they. They've done very well. So i don't know if it's just a college hoops thing. But in general. Steve your thoughts on paul's fishy line theory. And if it doesn't smell right take take take the side. It doesn't smell right. Well makes a lot of sense. The one of the trends that the pros loved to play is for years. Unranked team favored against a ranked team. Because the idea is that the public's going gonna bet the ranked team and despite the public putting their money down on the saint. John's your example The pros no better and they're backing the unranked team and so to use an example. The auburn game. You cited and i'm not a college basketball expert. But i watched enough auburn games to tell you. The story changed completely. Because you're eve. Cooper their freshman. I don't know why he wasn't playing early in the year awesome. He's incredible and once he came in. If you just blindly bet the over and every auburn game you want them all of them seemingly because their offense got so much better now. Three cooper got hurt again so now. It's time to bet against auburn in bed under on auburn. But it shows how you know oftentimes a team record and the stats and data analytical guys. Put all that numbers in the computer. But if they don't have the parameter for threes cooper. They're not gonna value auburn correctly..

Which is something. Harry's never been known for don't forget even though he was in one direction. They bucked boy band. Tradition opted to not dance not new routines. But the video's choreographer. "Better, You know, more clear communication from the SD. So ideally, the department has learned and is, you know, gonna have a smooth roll out this time? Um, I mean, that's the hope, Right? Obviously. So last question, then Paul It appears and again. I don't cover this anywhere near as closely as you do or or other Seattle Times reporters, But it feels from the outside looking in that the governor has really dug in his heels regarding the the head of employment security. Susie Levine. Is there any sort of push within the Democrats who have governor in his ear that maybe it's time for a change at the top, or is he still convinced that Problems that exist in employment. Security should not be sit on the lap of the person in charge of the agency. You know, every time there's a new, you know you a bit of news about some problem with her psychotic or props that people have get through. You'll have people calling for the commissioner's head and I think that you know, the argument has been on the one side. You know, we've had all these problems and it's time for new leadership. And you know, why does she still have a job? I mean, that's the female. I get. You know it dozens of times after every story, and then you know a lot of Democrats, you know, in, you know, Libya will say this is the wrong time to change leadership, you know, and they they're saying that you know we're in the middle of the storm, and it would be hugely disruptive. And it's you know, it sounds great toe, you know, get fresh leadership, but the reality of it would be chaos. At the STD at exactly the wrong time. That is Paul Roberts, Seattle Times reporter who has been covering employment security issues and woes here in Washington State. Paul Thank you so much for joining Seattle Morning news. My brother Mike. There are new clues this morning about a possible motive in the RV explosion that rocked Nashville on Christmas Day. CBS News correspondent Moola Langi joins US from Nashville with the latest surveillance video captured the sheer power of the Christmas Morning blast, which brought downtown Nashville to a grinding halt. Yesterday. The FBI named 63 year old Tennessee resident Anthony Quinn Warner as the bomber, according to a law enforcement bulletin obtained by CBS News agents found a note while searching Warner's house that led them to a witness. That witness told the FBI they spoke to warn her about a week before the bombing. And that Warner gave them his car, saying he had cancer and didn't need it anymore. Gloves and a Beanie Hat were found in that car and DNI from those items were used to match the DNI gathered from the remains at the scene. We're still following leads, but right now.

"He is Greg coach. Fezzet legs Zimmer more than An. Zimmer he was my coach. Fantastic. Love Zimmer. He loves the Vikings. So I'm very curious to hear what he has to say to you right now. Yeah, well, Zimmer's my number four rated coats. I have a higher than anybody else I know of I think the dude Ross once worked with like like an eye ulcer that his vision was like. At risk and I think you missed one afternoon. That's my kind of guy. Stumble. Puts puts winning above everything else brings up some excellent points and by the way, the Vikings still get under nine. So absolutely get the best number and. And walked under nine. It makes absolute sense that they are decimated in terms of the losses they add and frankly not at draft picks in the Vikings. I think they had fifteen but how much of these guys going to help them with trove it and a limited camp as well? So the Vikings could well struggle. I did that Green, Bay plus three and a half week one against Minnesota for that very reason. To another really I mean first of all, they already lost trae Wayne's Mackenzie Alexander and is a rare roads, digs all that. But then now they lose Michael Pierce like Paul mentioned, and all those draft picks that we're going to replenish it. They're not getting a lot out of those guys this year I mean they were not anticipating when they had this strategy Kovin nobody was no I'm not blaming him but can be tough to get a whole lot out of. Those guys still have a battle offensive line. I'm kind of with Paul on that one I think the bears will be better I think the lions will be better. So <Speech_Male> let's say <Speech_Male> you're the average <Speech_Male> Joe you worked <Speech_Male> the nine to five yet <Speech_Male> a long day you <Speech_Male> come home you have some <Speech_Male> of those what do you <Speech_Male> call Daddy's sodas? <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Just call them beer. "Let me let me ask you Steve I. I. know the. Surprise teams emerge. Maybe it's maybe it is the Patriots maybe it's the buffalo bills maybe it's the steelers. But I do in my heart. Steve I find it hard to imagine a team other than the chiefs or the Ravens. Going to the Super Bowl from the AFC. So, talk me about putting a one hundred dollars down on both the chief set plus three hundred and the Ravens at Plus Three Twenty to win the AFC or thousand or whatever that dollar amount is Steve. Yes. So what's the matter easier and make them both three to one? So if you're going to Bet Baltimore and Kansas City, you gotta assume they gotta win half the time for you to break even and more than half you'd have a plus back I would much rather make the bet that I think is stronger and I agree with Paul I can't say it's good bet three to one Kansas. City. It could make a case is under valued the got better defensively under nola throughout the year last year tyreek Hill missed four games. You Really Miss Fighters. One game was against the chargers you went out in the first quarter homes obviously the KNEECAP injury but he also. issued. That's why largely that they can't see plane so bad at home losses to Andy Houston so you can make the case that this chiefs team is really actually better than expected. There is a little bit of a concern you talk about how it's hard to envision anybody else coming out while just last year the Ravens were spoke to win eight NAFF Games and San Francisco was supposed to win eight games and those teams spoke became the favorites to get to the Super Bowl. So things do happen but I'll fully endorse the chiefs three to one to win the AFC I like that. By the way you can place all of these bets on the draft. King, sportsbook APP I mentioned at the start of the show I. Love It. I downloaded have it on my phone I, of course, put my code. Ross. In to get the deposit bonus I don't really know I mean I feel like if it's actually your name is the code, you should probably get a higher deposit bonus like that's my name. Why do I get the same deposit bonus. Paul got this week. Well, you did it. You did it recently right David. Thank you very much. It's real easy to use. You can sign up no time. They have all kinds of propsed have live betting that you can do I mean every everything you want is all sports on that what I didn't realize which was a really big bonus and I don't even know if you know Ross. Gave me your bank account information so next time you look at your statements. Might be a few deposits into draft kings. Pursuant to these bonuses and I'M GONNA put Paul in charge of this. In fact, if you're living right now in eastern Pennsylvania I think you can pick up a free three thousand dollars simply or in Jersey simply by taking advantage of author. So many new players in Pennsylvania and Jersey looking to show all the investors look at all of my new clients that they're giving away these one hundred percent bones, these fifty percent bonuses. And you don't have to have a twenty five times rollover. You're looking at a one time rollover it's literally free money. So if you just map that a weekend and hit them all and you could even bet both sides of a game if you didn't want to take any risk at all and you can literally just arbitrage without any risk three thousand dollars. Wow Steve I'm going to talk to you after the show about that. Load by the way I want to get into those profits with you the second..

"Is Sole Purpose in life was to come and get one guy out, and now some of these guys are obsolete because I got face three batters see you can't put those guys out there to just face one guy a lot of reasons to like higher scoring but the markets aware of all this as Paul mentioned and I think it's been a proper adjustment for the most part in terms of the number being higher. One thing that as a better you hate uncertainty eight, the uncertainty of the middle relievers rookies. Your hate, the uncertainty of the extra innings. So maybe if you really like an under looked to the first five innings under instead of the game under should play out much more true to form. Got It. Love it. Steve gotta get to some. NFL. Talk. For a lot of reasons one is Paul has some NFL Betsy really likes number two that's my wheelhouse, and that's what we love talking about in the even money podcast and why we've been. So successful number three read a lot of opt out already including six New England patriots and there's still no deadline to opt out now I, will say this. I'd like to think most guys are GONNA opt out with opt out before they would fly to the city and get the stick up their nose. So I don't know how many more we're going to see I mean I think we'll see some more because he'd be like, oh my gosh, there's a deadline you know there's going to be thousands more I mean maybe, but I don't have any guys. Actually WanNa try if you'RE GONNA opt out, are you really going to travel to the team facility on a plane and then yet this the if you know, you're GONNA opt out. So we'll see my question is Steve. Your thoughts. On the actionable items so far from the opt out like are you sitting there Steve, refreshing Adam schefters twitter to see there's an opt out to just bet that team real quick. Do you have action on the Patriots? Let's start with you on this one. I. Think you should be because if you look at the Patriots, they pick up cam optimism their season win goes up to nine and a half, and then you get all this news I tower and other guys opting out and I gotta be honest. The Patriot way is all about winning. It's all about minimizing the fun doing your job and getting ratings. That's a great plan. I love the plan works. So well for a team that's supposed to win eight or nine games and I think the players are speaking loudly saying what? If you can make a case in either direction. Maybe this is not the year for me to play, and it's frankly a red flag with those patriots are saying.

"If, you're just the average baseball player and you're seeing some of these totals I'm seeing daily basis ten and a half eleven eleven and a half don't get suckered into underplays here just because you're seeing a big number I've seen a lot of those numbers so far and I don't think it's going to change. So couple questions here. First of all, I have never heard of coop before. All the at Bat. I am not getting Paul and you'll appreciate this. Years Ago I invented quo. And I tell my wife how important quo is when we're playing beer pong It's a quality opportunity. So you need to have the Ping Pong Ball. Hit at least the top of water to of the cups. What it as long as the ping pong all hits the top of one of the two cups. You gave yourself a chance. It was a quality opportunity. It was a quo. Okay. If you missed the whole all the red cups if you don't hit anything of your, that's Cara we can't control whether or not. It goes in. Okay. All we can do is just quo after quo after quo and usually it works it works. So before I get to Steve on, that my question. Paul about. Universal D. H.. I get. As starting pitchers get more stretched out. And if the heat wave doesn't continue, do you think that that changes how you feel? Most of it is the universal d. h. and that you still don't think people get suckered into the unders well as far starting pitchers that will change my philosophy because once you have these aces your grams of the world you're sure. When they're more likely to go one, hundred, ten, one, hundred, fifteen. Now all of a sudden you can see them going into the seventh or eighth inning and then you don't see the middle relievers I mean I was even watching the Astros the other night and Houston's a really good team. And I worked at their bullpen, it's rookie after rookie after rookie says the Houston Astros they're a legit contender in the American league maybe not the Yankees but they're one of the better teams and the guys they're throwing out of their pen I guarantee. Ross. You've never heard of them in your wife so I guarantee by the way I guarantee that. You're my question for you Steve Okay. So I will say this Paul came out, it was some numbers there. Steve Paul knows what show he's on. He knows you I mean, it was what fifty nine percent of the time they're getting however many runs forty eight percent time however many runs. What do you think mathematician? Well all a spot on. We are going to see more scoring this year than we've ever seen because we're not going to get the cold months of April in May. It's going to be freaking hot for another month. You've got the debates in the NFL parks. You also have the extra inning role where you start with a man on second, we've already seen some. Dead unders go over Grand Slam in Oakland seven to three ten runs instead of seven runs because you start with that man on second, we spoke about this before Ross, how that begets more baserunners with intentional walks in the light and all of a sudden that crooked number comes up especially when the visitor bats and of course, you got the left hand it specialists that..

"Eight hundred we get nineteen to one potentially despite parlaying each series. Okay. So I see what you're saying if you like that if you like those teams go ahead and just better many series bedroom as they go rather than to win the conference. Got It I. Want to get into some of your baseball stuff as well Paul and I'm the first one to admit it I said this last week I don't know a lot about betting baseball especially I mean I know a little bit about NBA Nylon About Baseball, which is why I love Beck ul dot co and the Q. L. APP. Their best bet algorithm scans hundreds of data points to give you the best bet recommendation for every game and gives you the reasoning behind why you should play. It right. But they'll tell you this is the five star. Bat here's why look I know this much, right Go to the APP store get it. You can also by the way, go to Belk L. DOT CO and enter code. Ross Twenty to get twenty percent off your first payment. But I know a bunch of the tuck heads, the patrons Patriot dot com slash RT media like Jim hines they swear by bacterial for the sports they're not that knowledgeable about and they said it's been really good for them like if you just do their five star bets, it's been really good. So you're going to bet you L. dot co enter Code Ross. Twenty for twenty percent off your first payment or get the Beck ul at all right. You texted me this one I thought was interesting Paul you said. You WanNA talk MLB higher run totals. Now we're talking over unders for baseball. Why? Well because the numbers right now seem really high compared to what people I think are used to seeing with a total that might be seven and a half eight, maybe eight and a half, and through Mondays Games, there were fifty, four played. There were four, hundred, ninety, six runs scored. That's an average of nine point, two runs per game, nine runs or more fifty, nine percent of the time and games. Ten runs or more forty, eight percent of the time in games played. So why is this happening? I think there are three reasons one, the Universal D. H. You don't have a pitcher now in the National League batting who doesn't WanNa be there who's just going to look at three strikes and sit down you actually have Wigham it editor in the National League, two starting pitchers or. Not fully stretched out yet. So some of them may only go seventy, five eighty pitches as opposed to a hundred plus what does that mean that means you get into bullpens quicker wire guys in the bullpen because they're not as good as the starting pitcher so you can get to them. If you remember the Yankees, Ninety six to two, thousand that great run they got into bullpens all. The time they took pitches. Now you hear about Coie, but the quality at Bat, how many pitches you see so that's another thing. Pictures aren't stretched out to deep into games number three. It's freaking hot out if if you haven't noticed already and the balls get a travel when it's hot out, so you're seeing a lot of home run. So my advice would be don't get suckered..

"The best that never was that's kind of me. I haven't hit the big time like you and Steve Have I didn't go to Princeton I didn't play NFL on not a two-time super contest winner like Steve. The best that never was that also be on my tombstone. So. Let's get into it because I know you've got a lot of thoughts and it'll be fun to see whether or not our resident mathematician. Steve. With them or says, you're a total broadcasting blowhard that does not understand the numbers. Those are really the only two choices. So let's get into Paul I since it starting tomorrow and there's a lot of excitement you have specific thoughts on the NBA's Eastern conference I know Stephen talked about that in recent weeks as well. What are your NBA Eastern conference thoughts? So I'll give you two picks here. Again, this isn't to win the championship. This is just to win the east. So we're not looking at the Lakers or the clippers or teams like that I like the. Celtics at plus eight hundred we've all heard the saying about the Jimmy's Joe's versus the XS and Os with Boston you get both you get talent and you get coaching Brad Stevens, got Butler to the NCW championship game twice they were in the Horizon League I mean that would be like your Princeton Team Point Alabama for a national title and he did it two years in a row watches out of bounds plays I think XS and Os. He's excellent and then talent. Wise. You have Kemba Walker, you have tatum you have Brown you have a Gordon Hayward as well. All four guy shooting thirty, eight to forty percent from three plus you have Marcus smart who I think is one of those glue guys kind of like a Patrick Beverley with the clippers just a guy who's of bulldog out there who really wants to win and in this situation with the bobble, maybe not everybody wants to be down there. So I having players like Marcus smart plus they play defense and maybe I'm old school. But if you look at points Awad, field goal percentage and three point field goal percentage. By opponents Boston is top five in the league. In all three categories they're second in points allowed everybody likes to score not everybody likes to guard. So I like Boston's ability to stop, and then the second one is the seventy sixers. Now, Steve can get on me here because you're not gonNA get the best number right now just check this last week you could have got the sixers at plus nine hundred I'm seeing now plus seven, fifty maybe plus eight hundred. So yet a better number last week..
