"It's fantastic. This movie, although you look at these opening scenes in Detroit, yeah, it's dated. You look at the vehicles that cop cars, the cruises, yeah, this is a movie from 1984. But nevertheless, my word. I have to agree with you. This is just such a fun film to watch. And of course, it's the first movie that had Eddie Murphy in a title role that really this is the one that propelled him to international stardom. Yeah, he's in trading places before this. He was in 48 hours before this. But this was really an okay, this may be a horrible thing to say, but I think this may be the Pinnacle of Eddie Murphy ever in history. And it's not to say that his later work wasn't phenomenal. It was. I mean, he was very successful guy all of his life. But this film, there's just something about this movie in particular, even better than the second one. The second one's iconic with the jacket and everything like that. But man, this movie is just so dang good. And you are right to say that it is a bit dated, but I actually think that's a lot of its charm. This movie came out and what it was. 1984. Thank you for and that synthesized axel F axel foley music. It's so iconic and it creates this, I don't know, this sensibility, this mise en scene as they say in the film film world, film criticism world. That is just so perfectly 1984. And I think that it inspired a lot of the different films that we got in the 1980s. It created a lot of the feel of what cinema became in the 1980s because it was just so dang cool. Yeah, and with, as with several of the movies, we've already reviewed her making movies great again. It's kind of a ground breaking movie in and of itself. A kind of category basta, because, and I don't know how much behind the scenes stuff you watched, I watched a couple of behind the scenes making ofs and then interviews, years later, with the principles. And Murphy makes this interesting point that before this, any cop movie, you know, whether it's dirty Harry, whether it's the French connection, the cops were serious, would do, this is where and you see this with taggart and with the judge reinhold character, they're actually human beings. They're real and also they're fun. You can imagine going out with these guys for a laugh and it's not somebody who's gonna instantly plug a bad guy full of holes a la Charles Bronson. This is a new kind of funner cop movie. Oh yeah, yeah, and it's so much fun. And in fact, we'll probably get to this later, but there was at one point another actor that was going to play. There were multiple actors. We will get to those in the latter half of the movie. Let's talk about some of the other actors in the cast already because it's such a big cast. Let's talk about I love Ronnie Cox. We've got Ronnie Cox is the lieutenant. We've got an amazing, amazing villain. Stephen burkov, judge reinhold. We've got John Ashton. Talk to us. Oh, my gosh. Tiny, tiny piece, but I love this guy. Paul Reiser is one of axel F's top buddies in Detroit. I mean, he begged, he begged to be in this movie and they gave him what about like 6 lines or something. At the very beginning. And he does a good job as a sort of like nebbish friend that doesn't want to get his buddy in trouble. Let me read some of the movies from 1984 because this movie had some stiff competition that year. We had Indiana Jones temple of doom, we had Ghostbusters, which we covered a couple of weeks ago. Gremlins, Karate Kid, red dawn, which we've also covered, terminator, romancing the stone footloose nightmare on Elm Street 16 candles, the never ending story, splash, revenge of the nerds, police academy, the last starfighter, Star Trek three, and Conan the destroyer..

"We are here to make movies great again. I'm Sebastian gorka, and we are joined as ever. By mister Reagan, Chris Cole. Beverly Hills cop. Oh jeez. Why did you pick this move? I love it. Why did you pick this movie? Well, let me just say, I think this may be my favorite movie that we've done so far. And it's not because it's necessarily the best movie that we've done so far. But the reason is because I think it's the movie that I've seen the least often since I was a kid. I think probably it's been the movie that the longest amount of time has passed since I've actually watched it. And I kind of forgot how good it was. You know that it's a legend sort of intellectually in your head, right? You know, there's this legendary film. But it doesn't have a sequel like Ghostbusters does recently. You know, it hasn't been in the news like Back to the Future has recently. A lot of these films are kind of still in the public consciousness for whatever reason, Beverly Hills cop seems to have faded into obscurity and I'm not really sure why, but it really is a masterpiece. It's fantastic. This movie, although you look at these opening scenes in Detroit, yeah, it's dated. You look at the vehicles that cop cars, the cruises, yeah, this is a movie from 1984. But nevertheless, my word. I have to agree with you. This is just such a fun film to watch. "8 9 O one four three 806 8 9 O one four three 806 8 9 O one four three. That's 806 8 9 zero one 43. Hi, this is Elaine Hendrix on animal radio. Please, adopt his head. It is animal radio and we are with Betty professor rob Myers. There's just told us about the celebrity bat house auction where you can buy a bat house built by a celebrity like Ben Affleck. So what a genius idea. If I win this auction here, I will have a bat house and I will use it for that purpose or is it just a if you build it will they come? Yes. Yes. So here's so there's two things about this, right? Well, one is you could buy it as a collector's item and have it in your house because it was built from the set by cast and crew, it was painted on the set by casting crew. And then some of them are specifically autographed by Ben Affleck. So you can keep it. You could put you could put a shellac finish on it a couple of coats to finish on it and put it outside. If you wanted to keep the artwork on it. But all these bathhouses are completely functional. So as long as you don't mind if a woodpecker pecks on it a little bit or the snow builds up on it or the wind blows on it, every single one of these bathhouses is made to scientific specifications that will work to attract bats. This is wild. Okay, we've put links over at animal radio dot com to both bat conservation dot org and the eBay web page where you can bid on these bat houses if you'd like. Hurry up, you have to April 4th. Yes. So you got to do it now. The auction's already started so you've got to get over there and do it now and make sure that you get your bids in and of course you're helping the bats. I don't think I'd ever say that in my lifetime. I got to go check it out. I want one. Rob, thanks so much for joining us today. Thanks a lot for having me on. And you know, many people don't know that bats are important. And this is one of the great things that we can do is to teach people that bats are economically and ecologically important, but there's things that people can do in their backyard like put up a bathhouse or donate money to our cause. There you go. And if you drink the tequila, you're going to want to protect the bats. That's all I'm saying. Is that there's a little bad on that. It is a bat on the Bacardi label. I don't know. There is a bad on the Bacardi label. And it was because they actually fermented the rum in caves and bats were in some of those caves. So they liked the bat. They thought it was really cool and they put it on their logo. You know, so much. You know, everything about that. He certainly didn't know a lot about bats. Very bad. He took that out of my mouth. I'm Laurie Brooks, be on the lookout because ticks are on the move all over the country now. They're spreading. New research out of Kansas suggests that the lone star tick of bloodsucker named after the state of Texas is nearing the Colorado border now until recently, researchers believe that the lone star tick was pretty isolated in the eastern third of Kansas, ecological models had suggested climate change has expanded the amount of habitat in Kansas, which is now suitable for the lone star tick, which by the way is a vector to numerous diseases. Felix the cat, who happens to be a girl cat, has been working like a dog catching vermin from a train station in England, and she's been rewarded now with the official title of senior pest controller. That title comes with her own ridiculously cute uniform, which is a bright yellow cat safety coat and her own official name tag. They say Felix arrived at the station when she was only 9 weeks old and has since spent thousands of hours keeping the platform's free of things like pigeons, rats, and other train station intruders that passengers don't want to see. During her downtime Felix is often seen watching over staff in their cozy ticket office or sitting next to passengers on benches waiting for their next train. I'm in Wyoming. Wyoming. Okay. Yes. How can we help this? Well, I have a question for doctor Debbie. Okay, what can I do for you then? Well, I have three cats, okay? My oldest is 12 and her digestive system is, well, I have to watch what I give her. Otherwise she throws up or she gets the runs really bad. My other two that are younger and they can eat almost anything. But my question is, I took my boyfriend and him and I went looking at dog food and cat food and dog food, but we went to a nice like an organic place and we looked at like the Paul Newman and the maneuver and all that. And we were looking at the ingredients. Then we went to Walmart and we looked at other ingredients in whiskers and. Things like that and there's such a big difference. My question is, what are the good ingredients in what are the bad ingredients and candy and dog food? Are they the same or I mean, what do you look for? And that is a hard question. So you're really making this challenging for me. And the reason it's hard is because there's not a blanket answer that we can say because every pet is different. So sometimes life stages or health conditions might lean us towards one diet for one pet versus another. Now, some generalities that I can tell you is that when you're kind of looking in comparing labels, now I have a lot of folks that will say, I looked at the label of old Roy and I looked at the label of this expensive boutique food. And they have the same actual ingredients listed maybe in a different order. How do you know which is which? Well, a couple ways. One is that I always look at the ingredients and we want to see because cats are carnivores. They eat meat primarily in the wild. So we want to make sure we got a good quality meat protein listed as one of the first couple ingredients. That's very important. I

"That's just how I refer to her. Okay, and how long has she been your dog? Well, I got her when she was 8 weeks old, and that was ten year over ten years ago. She'll turn 11 in February. And yeah, she's the most precious thing in the world to me. She's my little family. And she was diagnosed with cancer. That's correct. Back on September 21st, she was here at work with me at city hall and she walked over to me and I could tell something was wrong and when I picked her up, she suddenly fainted. And I knew something was just wrong. I thought she was having an allergic reaction to some new treats. So I rushed her to the hospital, and within a few minutes they said, okay, here's the problem. They stole me at her spleen had ruptured and she was bleeding internally. And so if she didn't get immediate surgery, she would have died that day. So I got her surgery, put it on the credit card, has most people have to do it on a person like that. And then a week later, they contact me. The veterinary hospital contacted me and said, hey, I had some bad news for you. Did we did a biopsy on these spleen and it turns out she has blood cancer. It's called hemangiosarcoma. And so I went in and we talked about it. With, without treatment, she would only have lived one to three months from the time of diagnosis. That's about a 50% chance of one to three months with chemotherapy. She is has a 50% chance of living 6 months and about a 10% chance of living one year. And that's from basically the end of September. And what did you decide to do? Did you go ahead with the chemotherapy or not? Yes, it did. Yeah, she's gone through three of her 6 rounds of chemotherapy. And I'm also trying her on a couple other naturopathic type approaches that are backed up by research. I only put her on stuff that's been supported by peer reviewed published empirical research. And so turkey tailed mushroom is one of those things that kind of sounds hokey and corny, turkey tail mushroom, but the University of Pennsylvania published some good research on this a couple of years back. So I've started her on that because what that would do is hopefully it fights against the cancer, kind of like the chemotherapy does. It's not going to cure her. There is no cure at this point for what she has, but it's something that will eventually consume her. That's too bad. She's my family, and the most precious thing in the world to me. I just want to say for most people that don't understand a dog can undergo chemotherapy. They go through it very well and their hair doesn't fall out as well. Oh, I didn't know that. Is that correct? That's right. Well, that's what's happening with her is that she seems to be fine. It makes her a little bit nauseous. I've noticed that. So she loses her appetite a little bit, but I can give her a couple of appetite stimulants that way she doesn't start to get weak or anything. And I've also changed her diet over to a pretty much all meat diet. And I always gave her a very good dog food, you know, the stuff you buy at the pet store as opposed to the grocery store. So, you know, she's had a very good life. It's just unfortunate that I'm going to lose her about four or 5 years early. But yeah, she's a wonderful little animal. How long has it been since the diagnosis? September 28th is when I got the bad news and that was about two months ago. It's animal radio celebrating the connection with our pets and the mayor of albero Massachusetts Paul hero is joining us. His dog was diagnosed with blood cancer, and that's when he decided to take a road trip of sorts. What'd you do? That's right. It was just, I hadn't been on vacation in over three years. And so I was planning a trip to the Middle East, but then what happened was I got the bad news and I said, well, if time is limited with her, I'm not going to spend it overseas for the next two weeks or two weeks out of that limited months I have. So I decided to take a ride to go meet her breeder in Canada on Vancouver Island, so I drove out and along the way I stopped. It had a bunch of national sites like Niagara Falls and Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone National Park and Seattle. And I was taking pictures, but nobody knew where I was going. But I was posting pictures of her. It's not really cute when the mayor posts pictures of himself on Facebook. But there's nothing cute about that. It's kind of just kind of just a little whatever. But if you post pictures of this dog, this cute little dog going from one state to the next day from one national site to another. I mean, it's sort of just kind of caught fire. And by the time I got to Seattle, people had already been chiming in like crazy, the posts had been getting hundreds of hits. I had already picked up hundreds of new Facebook followers. And at the end of the day, I picked up over 2000 new Facebook followers. You talk about all these monuments you visited in a breeder, but you're leaving out one very important one. And that's the freeway gas station hot dogs. Yeah, that one, I mean, she loved it. I caught it up into little pieces for her and she gobbled it right off. She thought it was Christmas come early for her, but she was later on though. Oh, you know what? We all mock those hot dogs that are turning in circles at the convenience store, but we're all salivating at the same time. So I'm sure that was great for her. What else did she get to do on the trip? And did she enjoy it? Well, yeah, what she likes the most was spending time with me for 12 days. Because she and I have a very special bond. I mean, she's family to me. A lot of people have asked me, hey, how do I get one of those dogs? She's absolutely beautiful. And I say, well, would you pick out your girlfriend based on looks? No, but don't pick out her dog based on looks. You know, you're asking for trouble. So you got to have the right temperament. And she and I have just that right fit, that a lot of people have with their dogs. And so, but spending time together 12 days all day, every day. That's what she liked the most, maybe she liked seeing and smelling the bison when we were in Yellowstone National Park because I put down the window and I was holding on to her harness, so she would jump out the window and make a run for it. But I think she really enjoyed that. Her little heart was pounding and then there was also an Elk that she was looking at and her little she loved that she just had her head out the window just looking at them and smelling them and it was just really nice to spend all that time together. And because she doesn't know what national sites are like the Mount Rushmore or Niagara Falls or the Grand Canyon. None of that makes any difference to her, but she got to just spend time with me. That was what she liked. And she's still here, isn't she? Oh yeah. She's a home right now. Okay. And how's she doing? Oh, she's doing very well. You wouldn't know what that she has cancer. If you met her, her energy level is still just as what it used to be. If she's our excitement for every day is what it always was when I come home and she's happy to see me and well I'm hoping she well surpasses that 6 month and yearlong Mark. I am too. And that's why I'm trying her on a couple of different things. I've had people reach out to me from literally all over the world suggesting I tried one thing or another. The only thing I want to put her on is what's been peer reviewed by and published an academic, there might be something out there that people are experimenting with right now. For example, a lot of people say try CBD oil, but if I don't have any published peer reviewed research that I don't want to put her on it. Well, we're right on the cutting edge of that really the research that's being done on that. Yeah, you can buy it on the Internet. You can buy it in Providence Rhode Island, which is not too far away. Here in Massachusetts, a couple of years back, we legalized marijuana through a ballot question. And so here in the city that I mayor of, we have a number of shops that are opening up, you know, this is a non psychotropic element of marijuana is what it the marijuana plant, but yeah, it's becoming increasingly easy to find. You sound like a great mayor. If you're as good a mayor as you are, a pet daddy. I'll tell you a couple of things unrelated to her that I did hear an adult. One of them is like city hall, pet friendly. So now when people come to city hall, we actually love it when people bring dogs into even lizards. People brought lizards in the dogs and, you know, we actually, the people here love animals. And it really, because we're here doing government work all day. And then all of a sudden, somebody walks in with a little fur ball, and it's like, oh, who's this? You know, when people get excited. And then people come out of their offices, and they all hover around as one little animal for maybe a couple minutes, then they go back to their offices. And they go back and sit down at their desk a little bit happier, which is good for everybody because then when they answer the phone, they're a little bit happier when they get up in their doing that when they go back and sit down and they're doing their work again. They're a little bit happier to do their work. So just having the animals come into the work environment really makes it a nicer work environment. Miura has been part of my sideshow. I mean, she knocked on doors with me and she was standing in front of grocery stores with me and collect signatures and we go walking parades and we'd go to where else we'd walk, go to senior homes and on schools. So I mean, she's been part of my political identity for a long time. We need more politicians like you. Yeah. Paul, thank you so much for spending time with us today. Great, thanks for having me on and let me tell my story about my girl. That is mayor Paul hero of attleboro, Massachusetts. Well, it's time for us to get on out of here. It's time for us to bounce. That's what those kids are saying these days. Bounce. We gotta bounce. Yeah. If you need to, doctor Debbie's so him. I'm like, huh? I can't even fake him. I know. "Good. What's on your mind today? Oh, I need to get infamous wisdom on dog food. All right. What's your particular question there? Well, I started off all about a hundred years ago with then went to science diet. Then went to purina pro, then went to neutral. Now trying to go to Blue Buffalo. Okay. In the never ending search for what is the best dog food? Oh, it's a nebulous question, isn't it? And it's hard to give an accurate answer for just everybody. Tell me about what kind of pet your feeding here. One to 14 year old shepherd husky and the other is a three year old corgi rat terrier. Okay. In any kind of health conditions problems that you're dealing with with these guys? Other than 14 year old just being 14. Just the usual kind of aches and pains and kind of the old dog type things. Yeah, unfortunately, I think probably next two or three weeks I'm going to have to put him down. You start to get better. At 14, at 14, that's anyone would say that's an amazing lifespan, especially a large breed dog. I'm thinking steak is what I'm thinking and baking. What he's entitled to, yeah, at this point, definitely. Definitely. So as far as what is the reason that you've kind of jumped around from brand to brand, was it that pets didn't accept it and like it or were you not happy with how they were doing on the food? Just always looking for better. It's always looking for better. More nutritious, better ingredients. Yeah, well, some of what you've mentioned were some very large companies that have a lot of sound nutrition and a lot of research behind their food. So I can't really find fault with a lot of the brand you mentioned. It's really for me, it's a matter of first and foremost, what we try to feed and also what the pet likes and what they accept because no matter how good it is for you, if they don't eat it, then it's a waste of your money and effort. So that always plays a role in when I'm making a diet recommendation because every pet is different and if we've got a little finicky poodle that will only eat semi softer canned food that really kind of the frame down. Now if you are going more with a cable based diet, there's a lot of good brands that you mentioned there and I don't really have qualms with many of those science diet I am all of those are at the top of the list. There's a lot of brands out there. So I'm probably going to hold back saying that there's a single best food, but I would try to find what works good for your pet, what provides consistent stool quality and hopefully if it's a better quality food, we see less poop and that would be one of the big goals that I would have for you. Okay. And then it's good and safe to stay with neutral. You know, yeah, and we do have some concerns going on currently with some of the food recall with the cats in neutral. As far as but I think that's still a good company and a lot of these recalls that they're doing now are more a little bit proactive rather than reactive versus what we went through in a few years ago. So I don't necessarily have a problem with that. And if your pets, if they like, the cube will science that or items or you mentioned so many different ones. Is there one or two that sticks out that you felt the pets did better with? Yeah, if it's working for you and it gives you good consistent quality, then yeah, absolutely. I wouldn't feel bad about that. Give that a shot, let us know how it works there. I appreciate your time today. Now let me just make sure I have this straight because I maybe I just missed something here. This guy's dog is a few weeks away from being euthanized and he's wondering what kind of food to feed it. Well, he's, you know, what he should feed dogs in general, not just Jude one. In my last two weeks, make sure it's cheeseburgers. Okay. I'll make sure he put it in your will. And cake and ice cream. No, that'd be on mine. My list. Mine too. You are listening to animal radio, call the Dream Team now, with the free animal radio app for iPhone and Android. We're off to find our next adventure. This is animal radio. Hey, Joe. Yeah, how you doing? I've got a question. I've got a 50 year old blue eagle. I've had him since he was 14 weeks old, of course, he goes everywhere with me. But he has this thing he does. Pete. The spot that's been marked, or he'll pee and turn around and lick it. What I'm wondering is he missing something is his diet? I mean, when he does it, he knows I don't like 'cause you're hanging his head, but why. But now when he licks at his tongue goes fast and he'll actually start foaming at the mouth. Okay. Now, is this fella? Is he neutered? No. All right. Well, what he is doing is he's reacting to the smells and the scent hormones or basically the pheromones in that urine. So while it's a disgusting thing to imagine him licking urine, he's actually reacting and slightly overreacting to the presence of those pheromones. So the best thing I could say is get this fella neutered, not only to stop this behavior, but also to keep him healthy, keep the risk of prostate problems and cancers out of bay and far away from him. So that would be my recommendation. Get this guy neutered and you may see that that does decrease some. But even if he did still do that and he still has this the best thing I could advise is keep him on a leash or even a head collar when you are taking him out for his little exercise and try to keep him away from doing that. It's really a matter of just restricting the access as well. But yeah, the frothing at the mouth and getting all excited that is he's just picking up on those hormones and thank goodness that doesn't happen for people. My God, could you imagine going out to clubs at night? I'm embarrassed when he does it. But now even in his when he does his own faith, he's still after the prayer mounds and all that, right? We are some dogs will lick their own urine and that's where it kind of becomes just a bad behavior. So I would definitely stop him from doing that. Now, he's just going over those areas and marking afterwards. Yeah, he's just doing the whole territorial thing. So yeah, I think the first thing I'd say is let's tame this fellow's hormones down a little bit. Rain moves in and then when you were actually afterwards, I'd say when you're walking and exercising, we'll work on those things and trying to restrict the time and the amount of effort he's spending smelling those things. And that's when you say, okay, we're done. And

"Hey it's Vinny Penn coming at you with another party animal installment on animal radio. Well, we did it for those of you who listened to these. Segments of mine here told you a ways back that my 5 year old daughter Stella. She's ready for a pet. She looked at a lot of different pets. I wanted to start her off with the fish. Oh, as a matter of fact, she actually had already, she's had a turtle and a frog, but they've since moved on and it was time to get her another. I wanted to start her with a fish. I think that's the good starting point for any four or 5, 6 year old. We went to the pet store, and we picked out just the most beautiful pink fish, Stella picked her out herself, picked out a great one. We got the nice little aquarium and she dressed it up and decorated it really nicely. We went down to the beach earlier that morning. She picked out a beautiful rock to put in the tank. We were all set up. She looks at the fish and it's called a beta fish. If I'm pronouncing that correctly, BE, TTA. So it's not essentially a goldfish. I don't know. This was kind of a new terrain for me, even though I had goldfish when I was a kid. I think they were goldfish. I had two cheech and Chong. But this is called a beta fish beta fish. Nonetheless, Stella looks at her and says, I want to call her Magnolia. And it was really a moving moment. I looked at my daughter and I thought, that name is fantastic. We can call her Maggie for short, and she smiled, she thought that was a great idea. We got in the car with the little carrying case for the fish and Stella stared out of the whole way home, I was saying, I love you, Magnolia. I love you Magnolia. Got home, transferred her into her new home, dressed it up and Stella was look iron said she's so beautiful. so much for buying me dandelion. And I said, dandelion, what happened to Magnolia? And she said, no, I changed her name. I want to call her dandelion. And I said, all right, you know, the dandy, for sure. That kind of works. Go with that. Dandelion it is. Not too long afterwards. One of my acts comes over. First thing Stella wants to do is take her to see the fish. She says, you got to come with me. You've got to come and see my fish. She runs over to see the fish. And I hear my aunt who's 91 years old say, hey, that looks just like Nemo. Magnolia, who had become dandelion, had now become Nemo. So I have to sit still down and say, oh, look, we can't keep changing the name. It would be like all of a sudden today, if I just started calling you Sarah, to which stellar replies, I like that name Sara, I go to school with the Sarah. I want to name the fish Sarah. At this point, I'm a little bit out of my mind. I'm confused. I don't know which way is up. I don't know if it's a girl. I always heard girls were fickle, but this was bringing it to new heights. Suffice it to say that this morning, as I'm leaving, to come and cut these segments, I say to Stella, I'm going to go and talk about Sarah the fish today. And she said, what kind of fish is it anyway? I heard you telling someone that it wasn't really a goldfish. I said, well, daddy's learning as he goes. Same as you. I think it's called a beta fish or a beta fish and Stella says, all right, daddy. We'll go and tell everybody about Betty then. Vinny pan, party animal animal radio. "For us on the behalf of animals. You know, here in California, we get lots of calls about ferrets, but here in California where the studio is, we're not allowed to have ferrets. What is the reasoning behind that? Why is it some states allow it in some states don't? Yeah. So California is one of the only two states that doesn't allow it. And it's the only non island state. The other one, of course, is Hawaii. And the legal reason in California is because as far as California law is concerned, ferrets are exotic wild animals. The more practical reasons seems to have to do with concerns about invasive species and the impact on agriculture. And this is what I think Hawaii and California have sort of different scenarios. Hawaii, being an island and having a lot of history with invasive species has very clear concerns about what would happen if tiny weasel got loose on their in their state. California already has a variety of weasel creatures in the state. So it's harder to really see what the practical concern with ferrets is. Particularly because domestic ferrets are not known for their shall we say self preservation skills. They don't tend to do well in the wild. Denver, Colorado is a place you can just drive down the street and get a dime bag of pot, but if you have a pit bull, it's illegal. It's one of the places with breed bands. Stand on that. So we're opposed to breed bands for a variety of reasons. Fundamentally, they don't work. The things they're meant to address are preventing harmful interactions between humans and dogs. And they just don't serve that purpose. We have the data indicates that it's not really the breed of an animal that speaks to its likelihood to, for example, bites someone. How it's socialized, how it's trained and the environment, it's kept down. And that's really true regardless of what the breed of dog is. Also, we find that the impact of those laws is that it makes it more likely that banned dogs or dogs that look like a band breed will end up abandoned abused or in shelters. It could create sort of a doggy criminal underclass, which serves no one well. Where with David rosengard, he's the staff attorney for the animal legal defense fund, doing very serious work, but we're going to find out some of the weird laws on the books coming up next right here on animal radio. "Pet cams. So whenever they come in, we set them up for the studio animals. And they do some pretty wild things. I actually saw like ladybugs on the computer. I don't know what she's writing or what she's doing, but she did much smarter than we actually think. Robert's gonna drink in that bottle, too. Bottle of scotch you had hidden, you know? Also, from animal planet, the vet life, doctor blue is on the way. But first, let's visit with 11 year old. I think she's still 11. Emma or Emmy Perry, how are you doing? I'm doing great. How are you? Very good. You still are 11? Yes. We're calling you today because you are an incredible young Gayle who's doing some amazing work for the animals. You've created Emmy's hope. Tell us a little bit about it. So I have a website called Emmy's Pope and we network dogs. We take pictures of them at the shelter and their information. We put it up on the website and I encourage young kids to make a difference with adopting and also we take home and foster dogs and find them homes ourselves. Wow, that is incredible for someone of your age to be doing that. Now, what made you decide to do this? Well, my mom took me to the shelter since I was really little. And I just saw so many dogs that need it in need of help and home. So you said, you could make a difference, huh? Yes. Well, that's cool. Now you also collect things for the animals at the shelter too if they need a blanket or anything. Is that correct? Yes, we go, usually we go to petco before we go to the shelter and I save up money and I get the dog's dog beds and food and stuff, and we bring it to the shelter. Wow, what are your friends think of this? Most of my friends enjoy it too, but some are too sad to go to the shelter. It is pretty sad. It can get pretty depressing, huh? Yeah. Did you ever get to the point that you thought maybe it was too tough for you to deal with? Well, no, I didn't, it makes me sad that I know it would make me more sad to know I wasn't like this was happening and I wasn't doing anything about it. Sure, I completely understand it. How many animals do you have at home? I have four dogs in a rat. Four dogs in a rat. I love it. My animals are foster failures. You know what a foster failure is? Yeah, we have one. You thought you were going to adopt her out, but she fell in love with her, didn't you? Yeah. I bet your animals are pretty lucky to have you, huh? I would hope so. I bet you're one of those gals that spoils them, huh? Yeah. What do you think the most spoiling you do to your animals is? Well, what's my rat? He has clothes and my dad made him his own plate pen, which takes over the living room. Wow, so your whole family. The whole family's into this too. Your dad's helping out with that too. And what do you want to be when you grow up? Well, I still want to be an actress, but I also want to keep on doing work with animals. We were just talking about that. Loria, our news director was just saying how surprised she was. How many actresses and actors are involved in helping the animals? Did you know? Yeah. How many animals do you think you've saved over your years? A lot. Too many to count, huh? That's a good thing. Do your friends want to help you, or do they help you at all? A lot of them help I tell them to help network the dogs by putting them on their social media and stuff. That's cool. She goes to the shelter with me, and she does a lot of stuff with animals with me. That's cool. I always figure out when I can get my Friends involved, and we have so much more power to help the animals. And that's why I have Judy over here and Laurie and Joey over here. And Doc halligan, all these people I brought him in together because I figured we could make a big difference. And I think that's what you're doing, huh? Yeah. And I have to say, I love the Kleenex video. Oh, yeah. What's this video? I haven't seen it yet. What is it? You'll need a Kleenex. What is the video? So I did this video, and it was like for awareness of adoption, and then at the second day of filming, I thought it was just gonna be the same. And then they surprised me by having the way we walked to the front of the shelter and there was a huge crowd of people and they had a made of a free adoption of that. And then so like 72 dogs got adopted. Wow. That's pretty incredible. Well, you keep on doing what you're doing so well and tell everyone what you're doing because it's important that everybody knows that they can help and they can make a difference. Okay, thank you. If we were here, we would all give you a if you were here, we were there. We would all give you a collective hug, okay? We do an Emmy sandwich. I like that. So everyone go to Emmys, hope, dot com and help out. Yeah, the website, and why S hope dot com will put links to everything you've heard of today's show over at animal radio dot com. Emmy, thank you so much for joining us. Thank you for having me. Take care. There she goes. That is incredible and inspirational. It shows that really anybody at any age can help. I think she started doing this. She was around 6 years old. And it's important that the kids, you know, they learn at a young age. That they can help animals because so often kids go the wrong direction. They don't respect they don't respect animals. And to see this, it just look at the hairs that they are standing up right now. You're listening to animal radio. If you missed any part of today's show, visit us at animal radio dot com or download the animal radio app for iPhone and Android. Hi, this is Paul Reiser, and you're listening to animal radio. Every minute you're here, you're not harming someone else. Well, this portion of animal radio is brought to you by Basepaws. What is base pause do? Well, you know those DNA tests where you find out about your family tree and you learn about your potential health risks. Yeah, I'm familiar with them. I've actually done it. I know. Well, this one's for cats. Base pause can trace your cat's breed type and origins, and breed influences their personality, as you know. Their traits and most importantly, hereditary genetic health conditions. This is the information that can help your cat live a longer and better life. Well, after the test that I give you a report on your cat? Well, of course, in the report includes your cat's breed, their dental health score, vital information about their health and a whole lot more. You know, I have two kittens that were found on the streets of Los Angeles, and they claim their brothers, but I'm not quite sure because they grown up now, and they're, you know, I know cats are different colors, but they're so different, so different in size, so different in personality. I'd really like to know if they are true brothers. Now write this website down, it's base pause dot com.

"One. Yeah. And it really opened the door for N and if you can admit, that's one of the great things about sitcoms. Is that when like Will & Grace, I will tell you that Willie grace did more for gay rights than any number of things. But if you try to watch Will & Grace right now, you're going to want to cut yourself. Because it doesn't feel super even liberal. It feels, it feels hard. You're just like, no, I know what you're trying to do. And at the time, they were trying to do they were making him into a person. You know, who happened to be gay. And that's the thing with Elaine as a character. This could be because they couldn't write outside of themselves, but Elaine is just as shitty as the rest of them. She is just as like I'll break up with the guy. I'll fuck the guy. It's just like she deals with it in a different way. The human. They're all superhuman. Yes. Yes. And that's what I love about it. That is pretty great. It is, I don't know, yeah, I think that her character on that thing was because they didn't want to make Caroline leifer. Was who it was based on, I believe, right? Carole leifer. I think so. Yeah. But they didn't want to make it too comedians. And so I forget what Elaine did for job. Elaine, she did a lot of different things, but ultimately she worked. She worked in like fashion, but more of an assistant. She worked for John o'hurley. She was like his assistant and helped him with things. So it was this loose kind of fashion but not like in the artistic element of it. Okay, okay. Like I know that George worked for the baseball team for a second for a hot minute and then yeah, what did George like George then got the estate and then he didn't. George was unemployed of all the people George was unemployed. And then Michael Richards, he was always, he was always running some scam, right? It's always some scam. Did you like the Paul riser spin off of that show? Did you know that did you know that the Helen Hunt Paul Reiser? TV show and friends are in the same universe as Seinfeld? No. Yes. Oh my God. Oh wow. I might have just blown your mind. Yeah, oh my God..

"Welcome to episode three 6 one of Shi podcasts. I am your co host, Jessica kupperman with me as always. The very glowy today elsie Escobar. How are you miss Escobar today? I guess I'm glowy. I'm good. I'm good with Chloe. You look good. Thank you. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Yay. So yesterday was Father's Day. Yeah. Do we care? What did you do for Father's Day? Nothing, really? We watched Stranger Things episode two season four. Oh. That's a good one. My husband and I restarted the entire series because by season four, we couldn't remember who was bad and who was good and what they were fighting. So we just started it over. Yeah, you know, I have to say, usually we do that, but then we just started this and you know what's really interesting? Pop right back into it. And like, I think they have a 62nd intro that does the whole thing in a minute. And then you're like, oh, okay, got it. You're caught up in 60 seconds. Brilliant. We realized, unfortunately, when Stranger Things started, it was like a few months after Emily died. So part of probably why we can't remember a lot of it was that, I mean, I didn't figure that out until after I had restarted. And I was like, why don't we remember any of this? 'cause I mean, I remember, there are certain episodes that definitely stand out. Right. Like will disappearing or will terrorize or just whatever. But the nitty Gritty is something that we've forgotten. So then when we started rewatching it, and I was like, wait, when was this? And then when I realized I was like, oh. I don't think we were paying the attention to very much. Right. I mean, you know, it's just hard. We were just probably a little brain dead. It's been good, though, because I have so much more clarity on. And Paul Reiser and who he's supposed to play and some other people that are in there. Like, I've forgotten Paul rise, was even in it in the beginning. Did you? Yeah. Well, I actually watched interestingly enough, I watched the first three seasons three times. The entire thing, three times. I now said, I'm sure..

"I see, I feel like she may be too, that's funny. But no, I saw the company me and my partner are, you know, we shot the man, look out for a lot of people that's in the Washington area. I mean, it's a tech that's earlier now. So we tried to come up with some ideas and you know, for a business. So I got a dog, you know, he got dogs. We love pets. So we just thought about a lot of people who ain't able to get their pets to the vet until the growers. I mean, a lot of people work. I mean, it's a government based town, but we just try to help out a lot of bad government and military in this time by giving their convenience to them making it the work back and forth while we can manage their pet back and hold to the ground with some sort of day care until the weather we're having. Yeah, do you have to take them anywhere else? I mean, does anybody call up and say, hey, take them down in the park and walk them a little bit, or I haven't gotten that kind of phone call yet, but the weirdest question I had was, do I maybe talk? Do you baby talk? Why are you guys laughing? That's not funny. It wasn't where the meat, I guess the guy felt uncomfortable asking me that. All the time. So I guess he felt weird and uncomfortable and asking you that, but when you asked me, we hit it off real good. So did you baby talk for the dog? Yeah. Of course. I have a dog I have a pit bull and she's like almost a 180 pounds and she was big as a house. So I had to be with baby talk to him sometimes. Baby talk to my animals all the time and you know what they're thinking, they're thinking, dad, why are you baby talking to me? That's a silliest thing ever. So it's interesting that you say that because baby talk that I got to know my animal a whole lot more than we probably thought I would have. Do you think they talking maybe talk if they were talking to us? Do you think they'd talk to us and maybe talk? They probably used some strong filings. Yeah. So how's business going? When did you start the business? April 1st, this year. Okay, so it's brand new. It's fresh. And I see a picture of your van here. It looks like it's just freshly wrapped. How's business going? The Washington Post actually gave us some traction. I'm so happy that, you know, they looked at it for one of the games. I do a lot of promote myself. I do the old fashioned promoting, not actually walk the street promote. So that's what I've been doing. I've been hitting a lot of local dog parks and stuff that I go to myself. I've been hitting a lot of little downtown areas. And I bought this little watch post guy while I was out on my promotion. And I was like, well, what do you know? Everything happens for a reason. Yeah. Have you thought about Shark Tank? Going on Shark Tank, get a little money, maybe open up some franchise across the country. How many vehicles do you have right now? We have two vehicles. And how many people are you working with? Are you doing it all by yourself? Or do you got some friends helping? No, just me and my partner right now, just me and him right now, but just starting it up, but I guess it has to be gained some traction or whatever, man. We can get around, maybe we can hire a couple of folks, but you know, we working with some vet techs right now and whatever man, you know, to help us out. Well, you know what, I think your business is fresh, it's brand new and I think you're gonna have some amazing stories to tell pretty soon as soon as the first politicians dog gets in the car, I want you to call me up. Let me know. Let us know for and tell us the story the first time a flamingo gets in your car. Our boa constrictor. We want to hear about it, okay? I have a great radio show, man. Well, thanks man. Thank you. We appreciate it. We'll talk again very soon, okay? Okay, you guys have a good day. There you go. Daniel Williams of Washington, D.C. in his little business. So I've been corrected repeatedly by a token client for calling the wrong sex. And I'm usually very good at this. Occasionally I will get it wrong and I will own up to it when I do it wrong. But I didn't. I was like saying, oh, he's so gorgeous. It was a she? It was a meal. And I said he was gorgeous. It was a gorgeous cat. Just a defense to that. Handsome? Yes. I guess so. And then another point I had said something else. And I said, we'll be doing this now. And I think it was interpreted as he will be doing. And I just was like, oh my gosh, some people have such a chip on their shoulder. I was just really shocked. Well, gorgeous, I think, really, I mean, if someone said that I was gorgeous, I would say that's a compliment. I would be very flattered. No one's ever said that. But hypothetically, if somebody said that, that would be, I don't think that's gender specific. I mean, when we're talking about a cat, am I being just the opposite sensitive on this? "Vellani, news director Laurie Brooks, and now here are your hosts. How Abrams and Judy Francis. Thanks, big guy. Good morning dog father, how are you doing today? I'm wow. I'm getting royal treatment here. Good morning. That was just going great. How's things with you? Splendid. We have a cancellation on today's show. And poor Judy, she works so hard to really book the show and get the guests on time and in the right place. And you just had a cancellation with like in the last 20 minutes. Yes. So that most shows would be in a bind with that. By 19 years of doing this and we've had a million celebrities. Well, we've not a million. Probably close to a thousand great celebrities and experts on the show. So we're going to reach into the vault today and pick out a celebrity that we've had on the show. The big question. That's actually good because we've had so many great guests on. That's a problem. Sometimes I think back at some of the guests that we've had on. And I always say, oh, would it be cool to hear that interview again? So that's pretty cool. It's like, it's like, it's like a rerun, but it's not. It is cool. It is a flashback, but it's a problem in that. How do you pick? Which one do you pick? There's been so many. If there's one that comes to your mind, let us know. I know you were talking about Josh Duhamel. Yes. Because you think he's hot. Of course. And he is. I, of course, think of Jenna Fischer, but I think she's played a couple of times. Yes, we have. You know, who else was funny was Paul Reiser? Yes, that one came to my mind, too. So if you have any ideas, let us know if there's a particular celebrity that you've heard on the show in the last 19 years that you'd like to hear again. Can I give my request? Yes, absolutely. Okay. The last interview before he passed away, who was it? Our Davy Jones? Yeah, Davy Jones. The monkeys. Yes. Yes. Remember? We would have last interview. Okay, so let's write all these down and we'll kind of pick one before the end of the show today. Of course, between now and then it's all about you. Call now Judy will get you all queued up. Joey, what are you working on for today's show? I want to talk about the importance and why everyone needs to go see their professional groomer, not just the dogs with coat, but all dogs and cats. High end, what's going on with your schnauzer? Trying to get her to get back of eating her dog food. My husband gave her some table scraps and now she will not eat her food she's gone two days without eating and I had to try to figure out what to give. She's just not eating anymore. That's the one and also the second one was vitamin for her see what she recommend. We've heard about that. I'm sorry. Okay. Sure. Now, the first question I'll have for you is what did your husband feed her that she just wants to turn away from dog food? Oh, she's a little crocodile and he has given her a hot dog. Oh.

How are you doing? Not too bad, not too bad, pretty good. Where are you calling from today? Right now I'm in bush, bill. Florida. Florida. Okay. And what's going on? I have the entire Dream Team here for you. Well, I have a domestic shorthair. She's about 20 21 pounds. Totally cow. She's always been a healthy cat and her mother. I say her mother. My wife, she, as the open buffet, which is the open football, she just pours the bag of fluid in and the cat eats insatiably. Nonstop. I mean, we come home and she hops down off the table and runs through the food ball. We come out of the back of the head out of the back of the house and she hops down off the table and runs through the football. And she stays indoors, or does she go outside? No, she's an indoor cat. Okay. So, and then so what's prompting you to call because you said she's always been big, is there some change in her health or something that has you concerned? Is the insatiable appetite or is it just that the food's there? And I'm going to eat it. Copy a little bit. I know that. Yeah. So the truth is that for dogs and cats. I mean, just like people, everybody has a kind of a different hunger set point. When we feel like we're hungry. Some of that set up on the type of food we eat, some of its genetics, some of it's based on our activity level. So for a kitty that is, I'm going to presume that at 20 to 21 pound a week for her is excessive, that she's overweight. So if I had a picture of her and I could see her for cats that are generally that big, unless there are Maine coon, they're generally kind of potato shaped and they got a little head. So if that's kind of what her physique looks like, then she's going to fit into the obese category. And the sad truth is about 35% of U.S. cats are actually obese. Overweight or obese. So it is a huge amount. And some of this is where learning is there's some strategies and changes that we can actually adopt do different things to help. And I think it's really important to recognize first that cats in the wild, whatever kind of cat it is at Tiger domestic cat that's outside. They are actually hunters. So they basically are going to go out and chase their prey, eat it and consume it. That prey is actually very high in protein and fat, but it isn't so high in carbohydrate, and that in fact, if you look at what a mouse is made up of a mouse is like only maybe one or 2% carbohydrate. And the reason this is interesting is when we look at dry food, kibble that you pour in the bowl. That is generally around 40% carbohydrate. So the difference is if we know cats are meant to be carnivores, but we pour this kibble in the bowl. That is essentially carbohydrate is energy. And if she is putting on weight, she doesn't need that level energy. But the unfortunate thing, so the unfortunate thing is, a lot of these high carbohydrate diets actually, they actually want to keep eating it. So we know that if we switch cats that are having this type of problem to a higher protein and limited carbohydrate diet, it actually kind of resets their hunger level because protein and fat have the benefit of affecting the speed at which the stomach empties. So it makes them feel fuller, longer than if they get a lot of carbohydrate. It's kind of like, if I sit down with a bag of chips, I feel satisfied. I love to eat them. I'm going to keep eating them, but next time I'm going to say, okay, where's my dessert now? I want more. Whereas if you eat a good protein meal, you feel a little bit more satisfied for some time. So for cats, we just have to think a little bit differently. So what this means is that if we're thinking about what's the best food for some cats, it may be best to go to a canned food because canned foods are actually much lower in the carbohydrates. There's a lot more moisture in there, which is good for their kidneys as well. So.

"The first movie she's just another part of the cast. She's part of the ensemble. And this one she's the lead and she's the strongest character like you said, she's by far. The best thing in the movie character wise. Paul Reiser plays a great scumbag. Oh, yeah, true. So, you know, it's a very different role for him. He fits in, well. And Lance henriksen as the Android bishop. They all have weird milky blood. That was weird. He and home was the Android in the first one. Bilbo RIP. But after they've and again, I'm going off of just this film, but when they've been showing Prometheus and alien covenant and they show Michael Fassbender is David and that Android. You're like I wonder why they even sent space marines at all, like, can we get a whole marine force of David? Yeah, androids. You crazy Android shit. Yeah. Because they're not wanted by the xenomorphs either. They're used to host. Yeah. Yeah, because I'm not wrong in the aliens just basically reproduce. They need like human bodies. Yeah, send the androids. You know? Yeah, they're basically, I think in other films, it's shown that they're kind of a viral plague on any living creature. They just want just desolation just to destroy any and all living creatures. Yeah. Interesting. So scale of one to ten, what would you guys give it? Let's start with Tay, because I know you're a little more skeptical. You know, and this is gonna sound bad, too, but I still think it's a great film. So even though I might rate it higher because I know what it was. I know it was a great film. I goddamn. I feel bad being like, yeah, 6 and a half. Same as fucking trimmers. But it was like because I know it's not. But it was like, that's just for me. It didn't connect with me, but it's like, should it be probably a 7 and a half? I was like, honestly, even maybe an 8. Probably. I was like, just because of what it did, what it accomplished. But for me, my if someone was like, hey man, you know, should I watch timbers or aliens? Sadly, I'm probably gonna say tremors, you know? But if you want to see a great cinematic film and just love everything, then go with aliens. Yeah. I can see either one. It just depends on what you're in the mood for me because I love tremors and I think it's great. I'm biased in my personal opinion, but I think aliens, I would say an 8, and I feel okay with that. Placing it there. Same. I don't know where I would put again, I always say godfather jaws. And for me, you know, the original Superman with Chris reeve are almost ten out of ten films. But yeah, this one is definitely up there, especially watching it as a kid, and then watching it again as an adult, I'm like, oh, I enjoy it on another level. Yeah. Even more. Yeah. Same here. I mean, I'm probably 8 8.5. I was like, it's definitely an 8 film. But it's like, for me, it's just, it wasn't that for me, but I know goddamn well what it is. It's one of the greatest films of all time, but I don't know. I get that, though. Sometimes I just don't connect. What is the first one you get then? Out of ten. Do you like it better or the same? Because I think I would still say an 8. I think for me, I would say it's an 8, but you watch it for different reasons. Yeah. Again, because tremor is also I would say it depends on the mood you're in..

"And so you knew are both peter falk and alan arc. My two heroes. Because the in laws is my favorite comedy at best of all time and to to meet peter that day and become friendly and then work with alan arkin on the film indian summer and become friendly with him for life Yeah it it's a bit surreal But he p allen told me the story of how he put the in laws together as a film sitting at home one night watching late night television all rice. He saw peter falk on the tonight show and he is as allen. Tell told me at the time. I had a little juice at warner brothers and i called the president of the studio. I said i wanna be a picture with peter falk and he said great. What's the what's the picture. And i said i don't know he annoys me. I think is the is the story and The studio when you figure it out let me know and so then. I had read a very early draft of blazing saddles written by andrew. Bergman with the black fella who comes into this. Western town is actually a jazz singer from the forties. It was the most fucked up story. I've ever read And they didn't make it. Obviously but i remember it stayed with me as just surreal and crazy and hilarious. And so i. I'm the one who selected peter and andrew bergman to write and direct and again had just enough juice at the studio to get the damn thing setup. How about that miraculous. Yeah we andrew here actually that so that would have been the tax x version before it became right right. Yeah it was much more militant. Yeah yeah and we had alan arkin here too. He we had allen and an atom. We did a father's day show with alan and adam last year i you what a what a what a national treasure we got to put you on the spot and make you tell the story though of calling riser when you were young performer. So good and it's let me plug the book to kevin a. It's called how. I slept my way to the middle. Really funny gr- great stories. Great backstage stuff and i. I think one of my favorite stories in the book. Is you calling riser in his hotel. Well yeah so. I was san francisco comedian. And you know i. Seven eight nine years old would watch comedians on on the tonight show and collect them like base. My friends collected baseball cards. And so when. I started doing stand by an already had many years of being devoted fan of comedians and their nuances in there there's presence but also when they ever made the transition to acting So wanted don rickles in kelly's heroes And so on. It really really grabbed me and also instilled me with enough a stupid confidence that well a clearly starting out. A standard comedian to become an actor is a path which i'd already devoted myself to the standup comedian. Part and i hated school. So the idea of going to acting school just sounded like the worst possible. So when i saw the marquee the paul reiser was in town. I had loved his work in barry. Levinson's movie diner and as many comedians did it was truly inspirational to ups. Who wanted to be film act. And so i didn't know if he knew or cared about peter falk but i knew it was recognizable enough so i got the number of the hotel. He was staying at while performing in san francisco from the club. Booker and You know back then you could say to who whatever receptionist answered the phone at the hotel. Could you ring. Paul risers won't planes and there was no questions just put through just rang his room. I didn't need a room number these days for the longest time i stay on the name. John love that we know will bother me. But so i i i just called them up and they put me through and he answers the phone. Yes hello and i just launched into it paul. At least this preto falk. I'm in. I'm in town and we are the wife and i saw your name on a marquee. Someplace called cobb's i thank anyways. We would love to come to the show tomorrow night while he launches into such reverence and and and over joy. Just can't believe that. Peter falk tracked him down and his talking to him in his hotel room so much. So that within three or four minutes of his adoration for the real peter fault. I couldn't stop doing. Peter falk for fear that he would never speak to me again because he was so happy to be talking to. Your phone would have gone from. That's very funny. To what is the matter with you. You know i just i. It played out in my head. If i were to break character so i didn't i didn't. We talked for over ten minutes and i never broke character and he spoke to peter. Falk threw me at the end of which we arrangements were made. I was beautiful. Was go to the second show. And then after i hung up i realized i had to call back and bus myself but it also meant the end of any chance. I had a friendship with with paul reiser. Because it just wasn't going to go out. So i i called him back and sure enough. They put me through his room once again and he answered yes. Hello and i said politics peter again. Listen i have bad news. The bed noses. This isn't peter falk. I'm a local comedian. My name is kevin pollack. And i'm the biggest fan of your stand up and you're acting you're working. Diner was the most and he just stopped me. You're a bad guy. Can i be honest. We are not a nice person that is really but he also had a little bit of laughter. Voice i could. He let me off the hook instantly and And we did become friendly became friends. I love that you once left. A crank call on allan arkins machine so the way it goes is i was in the habit of calling people as alan arkin for a while and just to leave messages on their voice answering machine and i had not seen in quite a while we ran into each other and we set up dinner with the wives for a couple of weeks down the road. Two weeks go by. I call nut morning and to reconfirm. But i got his voice answer machine and i spoke to it as alan arkin and i said hi. Paul eleanor can. How're are you. Listen a big fan. I don't know what your schedule's like we'd love to see you. You could come over. You could stay for a while. Whatever works for you.

But we'll talk to the Weber Grill Master coming up in a couple of minutes. Among the new things that you can watch this weekend. Today would be a good day with the rain. If you wanna do a little binging of the Kaminski method, it's been such a popular Syriza's for the last couple of years. The third and final season drops today on Netflix. With Alan Arkin. Sadly, out of the show, he decided he did not want to do a third season actually killed his character off off the show. That's you know, one of the plotlines of the third season of how is best Buddy, played by Michael Douglas deals with the death of his friend but adding to the serious now, Kathleen Turner. Who was so great with Michael Douglas in Romancing the Stone and Jule of the Nile and War of the Roses. They're back together again. She plays his ex wife in this new season. So you know, we had a great time not only talking about the serious but also Michael's father, who recently passed away. I think he was 104 years old 102 104. Great Kirk Douglas. Also part of our conversation with Michael Douglas. Good, Dean. I'm good hope Chicago's treating your well very, very well and getting better every single day. Thank God, uh, talk to me a little bit about the popularity and really in the longevity of Kaminski method. It's it has to be beyond your wildest dreams. I would think Hey, it is, You know, this is the whole thing came out of left field from the very beginning when my agent submitted me this television at the television script But it's my Chuck Laurie. And I read it. It was just It was just great writing. I mean that feature films. Television is such a good writer shut. Where is just great? And so we went off on this on this escapade and everything worked out like you Hope it to be been. Your script is in is the foundation is they're wonderful shape. You got somebody like Chuck. You know who's delivering every week. Great Casting is everything you hoped for. Um, we originally also End up for two years is two year commitment that I was having so much fun. I wanted to just to kind of finished, and the stories are tied the whole thing together with a bow before he left, So we went for another year, Alan, I think after two years of pretty strenuous work for anybody any age, but Alice cases a few years older than I am. Said that that was it for me. And so we were with a little nervous about starting a third season, particularly when Chuck several good to start with his funeral as a way to make sure we're gonna start our comedy with the funeral of Alan Arkin Island, but once again Don't question shocked and it is a beautiful, beautiful job. Great performances by everybody this year. Paul Reiser's Sarah Baker, My daughter, Kathleen Turner. All the kids the cast. I love the time I have a bittersweet but a very happy feeling a bag, boy, And I think your audiences are going to enjoy this year and we'll feel the kind of tying the whole pick the whole story together with the big both. Yeah, I got to back you up. You know to Kathleen Turner. Just that you guys are back together again on reunited. I mean, you two are One of the great on screen couples of all time laughs as very that's very kind of you saying it. I certainly appreciate her. I mean, she's she's really covered my ass. I number of occasions on romancing the Stone and Jule the night two very, very difficult productions that I was producing, as well as acting and And she was just great. Evan shut brought, talked during the second season by one and introduce an ex wife and I immediately thought of the war of the Roses. And Kathleen can't believe his 30 31 years ago. Um and it shall be great. She's we just fell right into it again said Nice, nice joy. When you work with an actor before and you you like each other. You get along. It's where the real real joys of acting is the comfort factor acting with somebody that you know. Yeah, I couldn't have a visit with you today without expressing my condolences for the loss of your dad. He was just one of the greatest guys have the luck to be able to interview him several times through the years and enjoy him on screen like everyone else. I wonder if you have favorite roles that your dad did favorite movies. Projects in which your dad start. Oh, yeah, My My favorite, which was also Dad is a movie called Lonely are the brave that was written by Dalton Trumbo wasn't very successful film small, black and white, but a beautiful picture, which we always thought, you know. Eventually, it's really again really renowned, get known everything and never really has. But that would be one of my favorites. And I think, probably lust for life, but he played the van Gogh. Was another one, too. That was really impressed. I forgot. It was my father. My father, you know, agree to Michael Douglas talking about his dad, Kirk Douglas talking about his new season, the third and final season. Of the Kaminski method that drops on Netflix today, a little bit later, and I'll tell you about some other things that you might want to, you know, take a look at either at home, or a lot of the movie theaters are back open again. In fact, some of the new movies are exclusively In theaters like Quiet place to that I'll give you my review on or crew.
