Plus, a 6 man elimination tag team match has been inked as well when you lose a fall or a decision you must return to the locker room. Ricky steamboat, Shane Douglas, and Dustin Rhodes will meet flying Brian Pillman, stunning Steve Austin and Barry Windham. That should be a tremendous contest. This Tuesday, WCW stars will be live in the Georgia mountain center in Gainesville, Georgia, 7 o'clock, is starting time on Tuesday night and Gainesville on Wednesday, WCW travels to the cradle of the confederacy, meaning Montgomery, Alabama, at the civic center, that'll be a 7 o'clock start in Montgomery. This coming Wednesday night. And then on Thursday, I have blairsville, Georgia, the old middle school on Thursday night, also Little Rock Arkansas, Barton coliseum, Friday night, and pell city, Alabama, at the civic center in pell city, Alabama on Friday night. These are benefit events in pell city and in Blair's world, Georgia, and then on Saturday tonight, Monroe, Louisiana, the civic center, and Albert and Georgia at the middle school gym that'll be on Saturday the 9th of January, and then one week from tonight, WCW will be in the Crescent city of New Orleans, Louisiana, downtown at the municipal auditorium, and then we'll be back at center stage here in Atlanta on Monday night January 11th for a national television taping of WCW Saturday night. I was speaking to you before when I said on a firsthand basis that was one of the top 5 matches ever seen in my life. So it leads me to ask, what kind of wars are these two going to have when it's no longer the king of cable on the line, but the world's heavyweight champion? Very good point. First of all, what is Brent? Why is Poland or coming out of retirement? Well, he's not coming out of retirement like in the last few months. Paul's been resting quite a great deal. I think up in smoky mountain wrestling and he's been doing some other independent circuits in that type thing. So he decided to make another run at it and even though Paul is about, you know, I'm 41 today as a matter of fact. Thank you. And I live that long. I said, it's amazing. But he keeps himself in great shape. I really believe that the guys got a lot of competitiveness left in him. And I think the guy could be a major player here in WCW if he could stay healthy. Great, secondly, Jack. I have to check. I think you could be translated. You know I made that about four months ago in van Vader or 6 months ago in van Vader was the heavyweight champion of the world. I said, now wouldn't that be an interesting match? Do immovable object against the or the immovable force against the unstoppable object? I think it would be a matchmaker's dream. No, I'm not quite sure I'd have to go home and really think about ways to beat van Vader because to tell you the truth in my mind, there is none coming to it. But I certainly welcome the chance. "And I like that scenario. I like the passing along the information. The skull session is cooling down after a show having a Bruce here something and talking to the match over. Those are invaluable times. And steamboat was able to master. So I thought it worked out okay. The tag titles were anemic anyway, Conrad. So Lisa gave people something to talk about. No doubt, no doubt. They're going to lose the titles on January 16th, arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton at a house show in Jacksonville and we know that he's going to start a feud with Pauly dangerously in the dangerous alliance stable, specifically Rick rude, we've talked about these series of matches a lot in our archives, grilling JR dot com. Particularly the war games and wrestle war 92 showings, but how about that Iron Man match? It was only 30 minutes, but beach blast 92, I mean, this is an era where we're not really trying things like Iron Man matches on pay per view, but if you're gonna have two guys do it, it's probably no two better conditioned athletes. She could have picked in this area now. Yeah, probably so, yeah. Both of them are very talented. Yeah. And I think that's where that kind of salvaged steamboats passionate again. It pushed the right button, getting in there with rude. I was rude was such a great heel. An athletic wrestling heel that could kick ass and the guys respected his toughness is tenacity and so forth. So I don't know. I thought that was a good booking quite frankly. And again, steamboat hoping again that he's still a top guy and that rude communist nerves and not be paranoid because he knew steamboat wasn't going to screw him. He was going to go out there and they were going to have an unselfish, great performance. And I thought they accomplished that. Well, they definitely did that. And we're going to close out 92 with steamboat having a very short television title run. Defeating Steve Austin at clash of the champions 20, and then he and Shane Douglas are paired up and when the unified tag titles, which are both the NWA and the WCW tag titles, at the next clash in Macon, Georgia, on November 18th, and they're going to lose those on March 3rd, 1993, right about when you're finishing up with WCW, they drop them to the Hollywood blonds, stunning Steve Austin and Brian Pillman, and later steamboat would feed with Paul orndorff and lord Steven regal over the TV title and get one last shot at the title and a series of matches against Ric Flair. They had another match, not nearly discussed as much as that 89 trilogy, but spring stampede 94 was yet another example of what these guys could do, maybe a little older, maybe not as bright a light, but what a match, man. They were just the perfect pair, no? Yeah, I wasn't there then. I left. This short time before that. Yeah. Yeah, what the hell are you? Are we supposed to be surprised? They had another great match? No. I don't think so. His final match is in WCW would save him defeat Steve Austin for the U.S. title at the clash of the champions in August, but unfortunately he has to forfeit the title due to a back injury. And then shortly afterwards, he's fired by FedEx. Thanks to our Eric Bischoff, he's still out when he's injured. And against this news, and that's it. He's going to retire from wrestling and stay away for several years. Kind of a sad ending, you know, this is a guy who had done it all. Former U.S. champ and TV champ and tag champ and Intercontinental Champion world champ and then and I'll end with a FedEx man. Yeah, I think not specifically referring to Eric's Eric's FedEx. But I thought at the end of the day, steamboat deserved better on his exit from our business. Yes. I thought he had paid enough dues, he had contributed to mightily, so I thought that he probably deserved a little bit better treatment on his way out. I mean, out out, then he got. I'm not blaming Eric for that. Just the way the lay of the land was, but all of a sudden it was inadvertently perhaps, but steamboat became the forgotten guy. Hey, all you remember

Did he dementia? Is that what it was just some sort of mental? Yeah. He was badly neurological issues for a very long time now, and he ultimately passed away yesterday due to it, and I'll tell you what he arguably Is one of the greatest wrestlers to ever step foot in a ring. I mean that dude's physique. Obviously the dude was a body had the body. Do you concur, Mr Kendall? He was he was He carried that match in WrestleMania? Because Piper couldn't wrestle Hogan could wrestle T certainly couldn't wrestle. He was the only guy out there who could actually wrestle. He was also a great amateur football player was drafted into the NFL. Participated in what was arguably the first version of mixed martial arts. Back in the 19 seventies was a tremendous talent. One of the greatest pile drivers in the history of wrestling. I would have loved to have taken a pile driver from Mr Wonderful Paul Orndorff will mark that tape. And they got him. Thank goodness. This is going to be an unusual All Star game because controversial went into Politics in baseball win. The game, originally scheduled for Atlanta was moved over the voting bill that was passed by the Georgia Legislature and signed into law by the governor. What are we expecting tonight? Well, we have protests outside up. Michael Bowers, our national correspondent. Good morning, Michael. That's a good question. Jimmy. We didn't see it. Last night at the home Run Derby. We did see new commercials that were being run new political attack ad, hoping to remind viewers that hey, that game that was supposed to be held in Georgia is now being held in Colorado. But let's not forget it was supposed to be held in Georgia in Atlanta, Georgia, and until the voting rights thing had happened, and then pressure coming. From the Liberal Democrats were really pushing companies like Coca Cola and Delta and Major League Baseball to do something. It wasn't until that point that you had Major league baseball make the decision to leave the game from Atlanta and take it all the way over to Denver so that they could have what appeared to be at least this point in time, the pressure taken off it. That's the message largely coming from the commercial that aired last night. Although I don't really I I did watch the entirety the home run Derby. I don't remember seeing the commercials. So either I didn't See it or it wasn't memorable enough to recall. But there's going to be another one that runs tonight during the All Star game that highlights that Major league Baseball is a victim here, as is the state of Georgia, and that the economic impact of the move was at the foot of the Yeah, at the foot of the radical left woke crowd. That's what they're pushing. And I think to me this is largely a national commercial for midterm elections. This is A specific target on Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock, who we know No. One back in January, the spot that had been once a seat filled by former senator Johnny Isakson. And so Warnock is going to face re election here in November. 2022. This looks like the big push at least the starting point for a big push from the Senate Republicans campaign to take back both of those Georgia seats. And again, saying that this is somehow major league baseball. I mean, if you remember back to April when want Rob man for the commissioner said he sat down and talked with players. He talked with the union. He talked with the other group. The Players Alliance, I think is what it was called, which is an organization of black players formed after the death of George Floyd that he had all these discussions before making a decision. That Major League Baseball fundamentally supports voting rights and all Americans for all Americans and opposes restrictions at the ballot box. That didn't sound like a victimization to me a major league baseball, But that's certainly the picture that's being painted here. Well, Even the Democratic politicians who originally back this stopped and said, Oops, wait a minute. We just took a lot of money out of the pockets of people have to vote for us. Mhm. I mean, just think about those businesses that surround the field in Atlanta. I mean, just think how much money they lost. Because of this $100 billion, according to what the commercial says $100 million because of the All Star Game move was ripped away from the city of Atlanta. Right. And so I don't know if Atlanta was a victim. I mean, they've got They could have put pressure on their politicians to say Stop it. Shut up! This is ridiculous. What are you doing? I mean, things are gonna happen all over the country you might not agree with, but that doesn't mean you're going to pull money away from your citizens that are holding the boat. I mean, it's it's It was absurd. And now some of those politicians are trying to say Oh, no, it wasn't us. We didn't do this. And you know what? Who else is in trouble with this, too? Is Fox news? Fox News pounded on this and pound on this and pounded on this, I guess who has the game? Fuck exactly. So it's both. You know. Stacey Abrams. Senator Warnock. Fox News. All of them have got to sit there and realize you know what? Maybe Each and every state in each and every vote. We can't take a position like this because we got to remember the people who are voting for us are the ones who are going to benefit from it. If we do it again, we're just stupid and well.
