"A lot of seconds and stuff like that but You know those those good barnes like him and and know the say top Barnes baffert him and Asmussen stuff like they can go cold and asks we had that incredible cold streak at Oaklawn. But it's just very unlikely they're going to stay cold for too long and I mean especially in a barn like chat. What the top quality horses that he has and everything so Not Surprised Dunbar. Road got to win but a win less the TEPPAN steaks on the grass and it was sharing. Who rallied from just off the pace? This is another one where I was just like okay. "Played Milwaukee one time. I remember way back in the seventies. Just once is that right? I think just once I could be wrong on that. But I I think he played in the seventies. I was in high school in the seventy s I remember that. I didn't go see him probably should've. It's one of those rare opportunity. I'm going to see McCartney Atlanta. Oh nice. Yeah. So as able to score some tickets paid for them. So I'm going to be seeing my first beetle. Never seen Ringo. Never saw John. I've seen Wrangham you have. I bet he's good. He's an entertainer if you will. So he's not a highly qualified health and drummer is that what you're telling me with the way you stay. He said is accurate now. Paul mckee. You're not arguing that genius. Paul mccartney. Oh, he's unbelievable. He's like seventy some years old. So I think it's one of those opportunities. I couldn't pass up. And I saw I'm a big Billy Joel fan. I saw him at Lambeau last year the venue. It's a football stadium, but actually plays really well for concerts. The sound was amazing. I expect that from Paul McCartney coming up next year. I think it's June. Danger. But it since you next year Lambeau Field that would be a fun concert. Are we gonna wrap the four at ten? I won't be a blue Christmas. It sounds like because the senate's is prepared to vote on the criminal Justice Bill, and as we talk about all the rancor and all the you're all man, and the hates that goes on in Washington DC, I mentioned that with our newest congressman Brian style. Earlier Mitch McConnell said yesterday that the Senate might vote on this new criminal Justice Bill which would change sentencing sentencing laws in the country and for a change and actually has bipartisan support so the measure would give judges more discretion in sentencing offenders for non non violent crime. So hold your taxes for nonviolent crimes drug offenses bolster the rehabilitation program for former prisoners. It would also call for placing federal prisoners close to their home. No more than five hundred miles. That'll be a challenge. Because as you know, if you live in Wisconsin, there are folks in our prison system. That are from all parts of the country. We actually bring in folks because we have capacity the president has supported this idea said yesterday, I think it's going to be passing hopefully famous last words, he said, it's really something. We're very proud of tremendous support from Republicans and tremendous support from Democrats argue that the president being civil and and having some fun with the bipartisanship, lots of years they've been waiting for it. There's been fierce opposition to this. Some Republicans Tom cotton of Arkansas. Said it would free to many people including some violent felons. My understanding is that's not the case. I think that's why it's getting bipartisan support. If you look at the prison system, it's very expensive and as states and the federal government tried to manage their costs with an exploding federal deficit. However that happened you can argue the tax cuts. You can argue it's it's a lot of different things overspending is certainly one of the things I think the biggest factory in why we have explained deficits, but there seems to be bipartisan support for this. And some Republican leaders centers not enough support at the moment. But it grew. There's the dumped about thirty four senators who have already signed on and in their lobbying extensive lobbying to get to the rest of that that majority which is fifty votes, George. Hartman spokesman for Senator Chuck Grassley, who's the chairman of the judiciary committee. So we have the votes were very confident Senate majority whip John Cornyn from Texas rand Paul which is always tough gets for a positive vote predicted the Bill would pass. So there's a lot of opportunity here. I guess the most encouraging thing that I take from this. Despite all the anger back and forth, and that was on full display in the White House yesterday when we were talking about immigration and building the wall and border security at least at some moments. Commonsense. Cooler heads, prevail. And when you're trying to manage cost of government, whether that state or federal reshaping, recreating the standards for judges and for some of the rules for nonviolent offenders makes sense. And that's why I think it's a good thing. So number four of our four at ten is the criminal Justice reform Bill seems to be on a track to at least get a votes, and according to the president seems very optimistic and applauded both sides in this argument. We might have a votes as as early as this year on the criminal Justice reform because that wraps up our four at ten coming up in the next hour a couple of things one eleven thirty five my newest feature Steve ruled the world, it's not a serious feature. Folks. It's gonna be fun. Today's about fast food drive throughs every week. It's something different. It's going to be just the things that are on my mind. And this one's been bothering me for a while. If you remember the old days. We used to do. There ought to be a law every Wednesday, my old friend, John J created that. And we had a lot of fun with that will be kind of phase that one out. So I'm bringing my new feature Steve ruled the world fast food, drive throughs. What is going on with some people's conduct? That's eleven thirty five and joining us on the phone after the news after Eric Bill says news, Ken Kratz, former met county prosecutor the prosecutor are former former county district attorney and former prosecutor in the Stephen every case is gonna join us on the phone. I want to get back to he's been on the show before when I asked him about all the net flicks making the murder one and two we didn't have a chance to really talk too much about that last time what he thinks of all this stuff. He's got a book out it's been on Amazon for a while kind of giving his his version of the events of the murder of Theresa hall back. So we're gonna we're gonna break it down for you giving give him a chance. At least explain what he thinks is going on here. And find out what he's up to. He's had an interesting life since those days, and we'll find out what's what's on his plate what he's working on. And we'll also welcome your calls and text that called the texts. Four one four seven nine nine one six twenty the accurate mortgage talk and text like they have a question for Ken Kratz shiping attacks that four one four seven nine nine one six twenty and we'll do our best to answer it. If we have time after the the Steve ruled the world will hit on a couple of other things I've been wanting to talk about the census form story for a couple of days now, and it's kind of gotten away from me with the breaking news. So if we get a chance mentioned that otherwise I'll even in tomorrow's show this question on the twenty twenty cents is form causing all kinds of controversy now on trial. And the question is simply this is a person is this person personnel asking the questions a citizen of the United States. A lot of folks asking the question is should it be there? So we have a chance to get to that today. Otherwise, I'll definitely put it on. Tomorrow's lineup for things to talk. About as I said, you can ask Ken Kratz a question. Text me four one four seven nine nine one six twenty anything on Steven Avery case. Even Brandon Jessie does he deserve a new trial? I'm guessing Ken crafts would say. No, what does he think? "Of. None outrage. Most Democrats as attorney general Jeff Sessions is fired. And the mullet probe is a new supervisors supervisor has already shown a disdain for the endless probe. They've playing millions of this spending. Millions of dollars. What does this mean for molar? What does it mean for this sense of bipartisanship? Do we have any at all this hour? We're gonna be joined by Paul Mckee at the bottom of the hour and Joe Lieberman. In fact, Joe Lieberman. I know the larger pack no get to you. But I gotta get Senator Joe Lieberman in here. Now, Senator welcome back. Brian good to be with you. Let happening listening to you. This is let me tell you going back to what you said at the beginning with Curt Schilling a wonderful guy, we spent a couple of days with him when he was campaigning for John McCain for president in two thousand and just take a moment. And let them tell you some stories but his baseball career including one I'll never forget about Cal Ripken. But I'll save that for him. And you know, Senator divert the the first Red Sox World Series since think nineteen fourteen he was a key player, and they didn't invite them back for the reunion. Yeah. Yeah. Not not good. Really why why was the he's an outspoken guys? That's the problem. I guess, but he's a great baseball player. And and and it's brings me to say this is a near gatekeepers fan. Win the World Series. So you gotta be grateful. All right. A couple of things first officer that exchange play we just played with Jim Acosta and the president have you ever seen a reporter more off the rails in that. Or do you think the president wanted it? You know, I don't know. I that's a heck of a question about whether the president wanted. It's things have gotten really bad, and there's a certain way in which the press some of the press and the president are war, obviously. And to a certain extent there there've been super aggressive. We're kind of facing or maybe even goading him to loses self-control. So we said that happened yesterday. And you know, is it good or bad firm? It's probably both. I mean, a certain number of people so good for you. Mr President another group says well presidents shouldn't lose it like that. So, you know, it's just honestly, it's so typical of the way things are alert people blame a lot of people for the division in our politics, Brian and a lot of people blame the president for everything pre existed him. But honestly, the the media has some responsibility to because that's where people get the news. I just think I never saw scientist respect. I remember if few interrupted the president and one on one interview President Obama you looked at as. Too aggressive in rude. Now, that's all you get. Yeah. No. It's just combat and. Honestly, it's not good for the country. I don't think we learn anything from it. In other words, it's not like this is what the process to do to get information to. So that the American people know what's happening in their government. It's just like crossfire. And honestly, the important stuff often gets lost in the crossfire. So I wish they could. I appreciate it. Incidentally, that the president said I guess over the last weekend when I asked him if he made mistakes he couldn't everybody makes mistakes he said he couldn't probably softened his tone a little bit. And I hope you appreciate it that I hope he does. I mean, obviously killing himself has president be pushed around, but if you if you softens his tone a little bit, I think it will make people who don't suffer their tone. Look more responsible for some of the division going on in our country today that that doesn't help us. So here is so we have split government. Now, the house goes about thirty plus seats, it looks like it's going to the Democrats. And it looks like the Republicans could be adding two or three seats depending on ours. Arizona goes, so what are your thoughts? How do we function from here? You've been down this road before I have, and and you know, a couple of things of generally speaking, sometimes when there's a president of one party and the other party controls one or both houses, you actually get things done because at some basic minimum level, they gotta compromise at work together or the government stops. And everybody loses from that. And what I mean is you gotta have a budget. You may have to do something about the debt limit who knows. So that opens the door to compromise. Frankly, I've thought through all the flack over the last couple of days you had a couple of encouraging things happen in her victory speech. Nancy Pelosi actually had a pretty good riff about unity. And fact, you want to listen to a little bit play cut there. Okay. I.

"Credits and by the way he bought the property at about seventy percent higher in two thousand eleven. Two thousand twelve than it had sold for in two thousand and seven before the recession right right that that's one of the questions is. Is you know why why the price went up so much, they reported is about sixteen point four, million back. In that was in two thousand eleven, and two thousand twelve back in two thousand seven when the CR g and play, Corp, affiliated. Entities bought it, it was reported as about nine point six billion so at the height of the market it. Was actually less than during the days. Of the worst recession. Since the depression right right and you know and really it was. Just. Two parties that had worked closely together who signed all the paperwork I mean. There there wasn't, a Bank there, was no appraisal the law did not. Require an appraisal to report this To the state for tax credits. So does he get the tax credit before you even develops the property because folks we failed to mention after the guy got nine million dollars in state tax credits which is the, equivalent, of. Cash right well you can sell those tax credits you can sell them probably for about ninety five. Cents on the dollar something like that I'm like yeah he hasn't developed anything they're they're it's it's still an empty parking lots and without. A football team can't even tailgate on them anymore so okay, laser gentleman here's what happened a fella, Paul Mckee. We've talked about him before buys a, piece of property at seventy percent more than the property had sold for five six, years, before. He gets a, fifty percent tax credit on the sale of property plus commissions and interest and other fees so. He gets a nine million dollar tax. Credit from Jefferson City. That's nine million dollars he hasn't done anything there yet And that's that's. A really good business that he's Well. The that program is is no longer with us the. Distressed area program did sunset in twenty thirteen, soco there are no more of those tax credits but you reported before this is the only time he did something like this because you did a story. Earlier, on what was, called the BUSTER Brown, building yeah the I. Mean that's the reason this this all came up you know this this transaction happened back in twenty eleven in two thousand twelve and with with recent issues that both the city and the. State and the attorney general have have brought up the attorney general's filed suit. To recover, some tax credits on a different transaction This has. Come up because it shares some similarities chiefly that it was seller financed and that the values reported to the state are. Much higher over just a couple of years over appraised value and over appraised value okay? So, has there been development at the BUSTER Brown building. No the BUSTER Brown building no longer exists that was. That was one that the city had to, acquire for the project the national geospatial intelligence agency and that is part of the reason that the city found out about some of these other transactions when. They, were fighting with, that property owner over, eminent domain and the. Price of the building that they were going to pay they got access to all these documents from mckee's company and started seeing some of these seller finance transactions that raised questions would it. Be fair to say that for some of the buyers of this real estate The buyer. Is in better position the higher the price, of the land the more he or she has to pay for it in this case he Paul Mckee the better financially he is which is. Of course the opposite, for the rest of us if we buy? Home for, fifty thousand dollars that's better than buying a home for one hundred thousand but in this case because your tax credits depend on the price of the property by you're better off the more the more money the more. Money. You supposedly spent on this new property well I mean? If, it was a a normal Bank-financed transaction. Not necessarily because he would still owe money on that he would only beginning, fifty percent of the value. In tax credits the difference here is he's just writing I owe us and not putting any money down initially and there are people that that he has past relationships wet so as I pointed out in the story some of. Those I owe you some of the notes that he signed over to the people who used to own this property our. Past do so the question is are they going to take the property back I mean Are, they going to get paid back do, they care that's really interesting Jacob Barker from the batch. Thank you very, much for sharing, your thoughts with us today really appreciate, thanks for coming down to our radio station today to explain some of these details thanks for, having me Charlie all right folks what do you think..
