"Who holds four holes? 700. That's a cub fan talking about a cardinal. And another controversial week for the NBA, Howard bride of federal media joins us. Good morning, Howard. Good morning, Scott How are you? I'm fine, thank you. You're surprising me, Scott said, and I have to say, by rooting for a cardinal? Yes, how can a Chicago cub be so excited about a St. Louis cardinal? What is happening here? Well, you make exceptions for the great. You know, and that certainly Albert Pujols. They cargills one last 9 11 nothing. But Albert hit two home runs in the second was the 700th. Boy that puts him into some steam company, doesn't it? It sure does. And it's a moment like this where the rivalries do have to go away. 707 hundred home runs. That is very bonds, Henry Aaron, Babe Ruth, territory. And now one more. And that's it. It's the most exclusive company of home run hitters in history, and you wouldn't have thought that Paul holtz was going to get there because it looked like his career was pretty much over. At the middle of this season, he comes back and has a renaissance second half of the season and makes history doing it. Also, Yankees beat the Bo socks. Aaron judge had a single, but I read a website headline. He still stuck at 60. Stuck Exactly. We should all be so stuck. I think we can still say just one shy. One shy of tying the Roger Maris American League record for a single season home runs at 61. And with the amazing thing about this, those guys I do have to say is that he is still 13 home run shot all time record from 5 Barry Bonds back in 2001. Yeah, some of us don't recognize that record Howard, as you know. Because of steroids. Let me not be mysterious. After basketball, the NBA isn't playing yet, but it's sure causing a lot of headlines, isn't it? It's incredible. It really is, if you go back and you look at the two of the last four defending conference champions, the Phoenix Suns in 2021 and the Boston Celtics in 2022, both of them racked by scandal, Robert savra, the owner of the sons, and the WNBA Phoenix mercury, suspended for a year for fostering a toxic workplace culture in response to his suspension. He puts the team up for sale, both of his teams are for sale, and then in Boston, you've got the Celtics head coach, it may ado after months long investigation by his own team, by the Celtics. He receives a year suspension really rare thing for an off court infraction. And the waste that's been left by this over the past 24, 48 hours has been incredible in terms of the Celtics being very slow in their response and exposing their female employees to a scandal that had really nothing to do with virtually all of them. And finally, I'd cried. And so was everybody else I'd love to yesterday. Roger Federer. Ladies last game. Teaming up with his longtime rival Rafael Nadal in a doubles match. Boy it was emotional. Not the laver cup. This is the stuff and it's very, very sad and boy, Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal, last night at laver cup, incredible emotion. And think about where we are right now, end of an era. This is the greatest era of tennis, any of us have ever seen. And to have Nadal and Federer on the court together for Rogers last match was something. And let's not forget this is coming off the heels of the U.S. open where Williams retires as well. Boy, tough, tough times in tennis, but really amazing. Yeah. Tough but amazing. Howard Brant of meadowlark media, thanks so much. Thank you, Scott. The newest release in the Star Wars franchise is a prequel to the prequel of the original 1977 movie that started it all. The Disney+ series andor tells the story of how rebels formed an alliance to challenge the evil galactic empire and imperial TV critic Eric diggins has been watching. Disney+'s andor wants to make sure you know this is a different kind of Star Wars story. So early in the first episode, Diego Luna's character, a scruffy thief named cassian andor, gets in a fight. He is struggling with two guards employed by a corporation working for the empire and try to rob him. And he kills one of them. While cassian holds a gun to his head, the second guard pleads for his life. What happened? Cassian kills him, too. That's not the kind of fighting you normally see in Star Wars series, whether heroes and heroines cut down legions of faceless stormtroopers. But the series and or outlines a grittier, more down to earth story. Without Jedi knights, at least in the first few episodes. It's focused on people at the bottom of the ladder, abused by a net and corrupt authoritarian leaders until they fight back. Case in point, when the two dead guards are discovered, at first their boss wants to sweep the whole mess under the rug and pretend they died in an accident. His idealistic deputy disagrees. But they were murdered. They were killed in the fight. They were in the brothel, which were not supposed to have the expensive one, which they shouldn't be able to afford, drinking river, which were not supposed to allow. Both of them supposedly on the job, which is a dismissible offense. They clearly harassed a human with dark features and chose the wrong person to annoy. But the idealistic deputy believes in the empire and wants to arrest cassian, assembling a strike team to do it. The strike team's leader supports cracking down on distant, unruly planets. I've been saying all along we need a stronger hand with these affiliated planets

"His new book is unmasked. My life solving America's cold cases. Paul holtz, welcome to fresh air. Thank you for having me. You know, I think we should begin by just telling our listeners that we are going to be talking about some horrific crimes on the show today. And while we won't be giving graphic descriptions of crimes or crime, scenes, we will be talking about cases that involve murders and sexual assaults, so it may not be appropriate for all listeners. Paula want to start with a scene that's kind of at the end of the story of this quest for the Golden State killer. And this is at a point when you and other investigators have identified the guy you think is going to be him, a 72 year old guy named Joe Deangelo. You're nearing retirement from government service. And you do an unusual thing you take a visit to his house when he has so far had had no contact with investigators. Tell us why you went, what happened? Well, after 24 years of pursuing this Golden State killer, utilizing new technology, this genetic genealogy technology about a week prior I had been made aware that this Joseph Deangelo was possibly related to the Golden State killer, and after investigating him for a week, and realizing I was going to be retiring the following week, I decided he was a prime suspect, and every time I had a prime suspect in this case, I have to go see you. Where are they living? What are they driving? What is the neighborhood they're living in like? And so on a Monday, I drove up to Citrus Heights, California, which is in the Sacramento area, and parked in front of his house. His car was in the driveway. I knew he was home. But I have been here with prime suspects before, was he really the guy. And so I started debating. Well, I'm retiring tomorrow, actually just hurting my badge and gun in the next day. I'm not sure he really is the Golden State killer, so I started to debate. Should I just go knock on this guy's door? He's a former law enforcement officer. Maybe I can establish a bond saying, hey, you're a former cop. You understand how this goes. I'm looking into an old case. Chuckle chuckle, and let's just get this over with, give me a sample of DNA and you'll never be contacted by an investigator on this case again. If you're not the guy, but as I sat there, I realized the various aspects

"Of fictional crime scene investigators over the years, applying science, experience in moxie, to track down bad guys from clues they leave behind. Our guest today, Paul holtz, is the real thing. He spent a career investigating crimes in California, specializing in cold cases. He played a critical role in identifying one of the most notorious serial predators in American history. The so called Golden State killer, who is admitted to committing 13 murders and 50 rapes in the 1970s and 80s. In a new book holds rights about that case and others and about the day to today work of examining gruesome crime scenes analyzing evidence and speaking to survivors of horrific crimes and relatives of those who didn't survive. He also writes about the emotional toll the work takes. He's experienced nightmares, panic attacks, and marital issues and says he's used plenty of bourbon to self Medicaid. Since retiring from government work in 2018, he's continued to assist investigators and families as a private citizen. And he's become a celebrated figure in the true crime world. "The full things to help keep your immune system's strong 1888 94 tummy sleepaway fat dot com. All right. It's a 6.6 Brian comes is here on another one bites the dust. Yeah, we've lost another restaurant at the bank's pies and pints of But the other Facebook page yesterday, surprising a lot of people that they were done. The doors were closed, will not reopen at their location at the bank, so they still have Ah came within Liberty Center, where they will remain open. We've seen a lot of restaurants come and go, especially in the last year yourself from the banks area and, you know, city leaders were asked by the businesses that are down there five years ago. In fact, they asked, You know the state Legislature to change the law, which they did on. Then it was up to Cincinnati City Council to designate that area as They call it a designated out the refreshment area, But basically it means it would be an open area with plazas. And you know, park like setting where people could take the drinks outside mill basically between the two stadiums right there, where most of the businesses are located, and And for whatever reason, it got bogged down. Didn't get the support that they thought it would get. And counsel didn't act. You know for some time, then we finally heard in December. The mayor say, you know, we're going to go through with this. Now We know that the businesses are struggling, which the businesses said they were, you know, obviously, but forever, especially when the Reds are Bangles aren't aren't here. So you know, we're still expecting sometime maybe in April. Around opening day that they will be able to open that at last. What they do is shut down the street, You know pretty much from the Holy Grail down the where pies and points wasps and make that you know, just a pedestrian area. And ah walkway and put in some benches and trees and things and make it a neat little set. All the time was a 24 7 think that would be? I don't think I'll be 24 7, but it would be every day. That that would be an option if council approves the door as they call it, and Guess we'll see people who live there. That didn't like. The idea is that there was a little pushback from them and then you know they had the street Big Street parties on for big events, so they made a lot of money. You know whoever had those going on make money off of that, so they preferred to have it on the special days and not every day. But that is changing, and definitely the pandemics, making it clear the need for some other thing to do to boost business there. I saw the business carrier back in early December. I think that more restaurants have opened in Cincinnati than have closed during the pandemic. That's what amazing, you know. You think of that touristy area. You know the entertainment, so I mean, they're going to suffer, obviously, because people can't be out in the numbers that were before that struck me is a good idea to go into that business that's doing take out or, you know, maybe you lost your job somewhere else.
