"That it's not gift giving anymore. It's the sort of lease model in it and it's done within the context of international conservation and endangered species conservation. That's how it's allowed if you like internationally. So all pandas are part of captive breeding programs. And those captive breeding programs, they happen in zoos. So what seems to happen is that a number of zoos around the world would like to have a panda exhibit. And that in some ways puts the zoos in a sort of Premier League of World Series. But if you'd like to ask for a panda, you first of all have to build relationships in these international networks of panda keeping, of which, of course, the Chinese state forestry department, they manage the Wu long breeding center, they're very influential in it. But the panda is a national treasure, so it's classified as a state national treasure in China. That means they can only be allowed to go out of China with the approval of the Politburo. Now, of course, the highest level of decision making in China. They have a pretty busy agenda. So what seems to happen is that when there is a major trade deal going on between one country and China, the zoo in the western country or also ASEAN countries as well or Australia. That gives them an opportunity for the zoo and the state forestry department to recommend to the Politburo as part of their bigger agenda of talking about this trade deal to recommend that this zoo gets a panda. It's quite regulated. It goes to quite a high level, but you almost need that window of opportunity associated with the trade deal to do it. And then of course, then as this happens, they sort of other side of it. It's a nice seal of approval. It's a symbol of that trade deal because the panda comes over or it's announced that it's coming over the politicians usually get involved in that. And it's sort of symbolizes long-term friendly relationship. We are at least in the Chinese mind that the recipient country is going to host a living national treasure of China. When you put it like that, that's quite significant. That was the doctor Paul Gibson speaking to Monaco Sunday Muller, you can listen to the conversation in full by tuning into the latest addition of the foreign desk and that's all for this edition of the briefing. It was produced by Tom Webb and our studio manager will snore a Huell. The briefing is back tomorrow at the same time at midday here in London 7 a.m. in New York City. I am Marcos hippie, goodbye and thanks for listening.

The Bible Recap

"If Moses, who wasn't good with words, had taken a spiritual gift test, he probably wouldn't have tested as a prophet teacher or leader, but those are the ways God's spirit equipped and used him. So there's not always a correlation. If you want to know what your spiritual gifts are, one way to tell is by asking other people how the church is currently being built up by your presence. You may have the natural gift of administration, but as far as church is concerned, God might have given you the gift of knowledge. Paul even says we can ask God to give a spiritual gifts that we don't have. That means our gifts can change over time. They're given by God and as always, the giver is the one who chooses what to give. As far as the gifts that are signs of the spirits in dwelling, some people believe that those were only used in the first century to give validity for God's work in the early church. This belief is usually referred to as cessationism, meaning those gifts have ceased. Others believe these gifts are alive and well today, though there are still nuanced beliefs in that camp about how certain gifts should be used. This belief is usually referred to as continuationism, meaning those gifts continue. We've linked to two articles with more info on this in the show notes. The list Paul Gibson chapter 12 isn't exhaustive. We see other gifts listed in Romans 12 and ephesians four and first Peter four. However, in the final verses, he does seem to give a ranking because he refers to the higher gifts. The Corinthians were fixated on one gift primarily, speaking in tongues, which Paul mentions last in his apparent hierarchy. He emphasizes the need for diversity in the gifts of the body of Christ because the spirit uses each unique gift for one unified purpose. Regardless of whether you believe the gift of tongues is just the gift of being bilingual, or if it's something more, it has obvious benefits for building up and unifying a church that is beginning to cross lots of language barriers. Paul says he will show the Corinthians a more excellent way. Then he dive straight into talking about not just using our gifts but using our gifts with love as our motivator. He says if love is in our motivating factor, all our good deeds are multiplied by zero, or worse yet, they can even be harmful to the body. He tells us what love looks like and how love acts and says ultimately, love will outlast everything, even faith and hope. What? How will it outlast faith and hope? When our faith is made manifest, faith won't need to exist. It will be proven, and when our hopes are fulfilled, we don't have to hope for those things anymore. They'll be realities. I can't wait to be faithless and hopeless. But love will remain, always. In chapter 14, Paul tells them they should all desire to prophesy, which at the very least means to speak truth.

"And it sort of symbolizes long-term friendly relationship. We are at least in the Chinese mind that the recipient country is going to host a living national treasure of China. When you put it like that, that's quite significant. From what we know of past experience of panda diplomacy, what conditions does China imposed upon or request from the host country? Like, how big a thing is that to prepare to host a couple of pandas? Oh, it's a big deal. So the host country. And it's actually not a host country actually, and it's the host Sue, which is a private enterprise or can be charity. So first of all, they will have to demonstrate that they have the technical animal husbandry capacity to host a very difficult to keep animal. That is non trivial, having that. So it's only the more established, well resources can do it. Then, of course, they have to have the place to keep them. I mean, you're looking at 9, 10 million U.S., but the enclosure of the exhibit for it. And then you also have to lease it from the Chinese state. And it's roughly a $1 million a year to do that. So you sort of checked out that you've got the technical ability to leave it, because this is good, because everybody will be embarrassed if one of the China's died. It just wasn't great. You need to demonstrate that you've got the business button, I suppose, to be able to maintain a panda or a pair of pandas during the period of their lease. Paul, thank you for joining us that was doctor Paul Gibson of the University of Oxford you're listening to the foreign desk. Sending.

B2B Marketing Now

"Very different. So it's that combination of the account based marketing approach and customer experience coming together. I can't base experience. So it's not as a whole new thing. It's just bringing together the bits that we know work into a single place. And I think that messaging bit is really a key part of it. So, you know, if you've got someone who's just starting their bio journey, they're brand new to maybe to the market, or they've never heard of you as an organization. You can't go in there with a call to action straight away, because you're just going to lose them. You've got to have that emotional feel to get them thinking, that brand is really somewhere I want to be someone I want to be talking to. Once I start showing some more relevant buying solutions, then you bring in the logical side of it. So the educational stuff on all around that, getting them understanding why, you know, what they're trying to do is really relevant. And it's only when they start showing buying signals and start engaging with you. You bring that call to action in there and really start honing down on why it's you that they should be focused on. Then they get to the stage or it looks like we could close this deal. Then you move into the validation phase and it's really best practice and making sure that they're fully understanding all the concepts that make sense to them. So you're really getting that entire bio committee, not just the people that are being sold to sales, but the rest of that buying committee understanding yet right brand right product, right solution, this is really working. And then beyond sale, once you've sold that, it's really nurturing the customers so that you can continue with your best practice advice so that they are able to maybe upsell to another product or something else that you offer additional services, whatever it may be. So that it'd be ex approach, bringing together that customer experience with just spoke about with the account based approach. We've always agreed as the right thing. Is really the essence of ABX. And of course, the last piece of the puzzle, what based marketing, there's always the goggles on, oh, that's mark is it. Now we know all areas of the business should really be adopting this account based approach to be that the sales team, the SPR team, the customer success team. And if you combine it all together, so you're all looking at the same data you're building in the same strategy you're working together. It's a lot more effective. So it is an acronym, but I think all we're really doing is trying to bring all those key bits that everyone probably agrees is the right thing to do together under one umbrella. Don't make sense. It does make sense. And I think going back to what you said earlier, now that the CFOs are also getting involved in the conversation, it does make sense to kind of encompass you have your sales, your customer success, your marketing, and how are they all falling under this umbrella to drive revenue, which makes a lot of sense. And I have to share, I had read, John Miller, he was a guest on our show, you're fearless leader, a few months back. And we were talking about ABM and social, but I had come across an article that he described account based marketing as fishing with spears, and I had a little laugh because he basically acknowledged that when you fish with spears, you poke the fish and being poked by a spear isn't necessarily so pleasant. And he kind of talked about how ABX is more about encompassing more. You're not poking that fish, but again, being a little bit more broad. And I love that analogy. But with that, kind of leads me to start wondering, you know, Paul in your role in your career, I mean, there's a lot of change going on. Leaving out the last few years, but what on earth is keeping you up at night professionally as you see all of these shifts in the market taking place as a sales leader as VP emea? It sounds like such a royalty role. What is up? Yeah, absolutely. You can't knock the VP term, right? I think that's very much in American view of job title. But I love it. I love it. And it's a difficult one. I mean, one of the things that we've already touched on a bit, I'm not saying it keeps me up at night, but that's surprised me is the number of leaders be they sadly, there's a Martin leader that really do admit that they're a bit blind to what is going on. And there's a lot of initiative and guesswork and intuition going into I think that's what I'm going to do next year rather than having the data to back it up. And I don't know how much of that is down to over the years. It's being very much seen as a strategic approach that takes a lot of time and effort. And we haven't really got the time or the effort to do that. So let's just throw stuff out there and see what sticks. I heard the term spray and pray a lot. So advertising here, there and everywhere. And hope that some of it sticks. Yeah. And let the B2C world, right? That makes a lot of sense, because if you're selling boots or something and you think you identified someone who's interested in buying boots, of course, your target then, but your target, everyone else, because it can be other people who want to buy boots at the same time. So it makes sense. In the B2B world, if it's not a company that you can sell to and it isn't a good fit. Does it really make sense to focus on them? Because the best case scenario is you get them to engage, and you throw an opportunity to sales. And sales being sales are probably go after it because they might be able to close it. The chances of closing it very slim because it's not a good fit. And if they do close it, it's not a good account. So the chances of renewing it and having a good experience for the customer are indeed the businesses isn't really there. So as I say, it doesn't sound keep me up at night, but it does surprise me. How many, sometimes very sophisticated organizations just go and get a budget and throw it here there and everywhere and hope that some of it sticks. When today, there's technologies and data out there to make sure that you can focus all of your time effort and resource in the right places. And yeah, so it doesn't keep me up at night, but it does surprise me. No, listen, I think it's good to talk about surprises as well. And, you know, something that I think is interesting with account based marketing specifically or ABX, if you will, is one, I do think it gives marketers the ability to earn a seat at the strategy table because as you said, it kind of eliminates the guesswork of did this work or did this not work or kind of go with our gut. It does give us the data to be able to really guide us. And that second thing I'd like to share is I do think in a time now more than ever as more and more strategies if you will are going digital, sales and marketing really do need to be aligned. And when you think about how you kind of even structure or begin the conversation with account based marketing, or the first thing marketing has to do with give sales a call, hey, let's talk about which accounts are going after. So it does force this alignment, this communication and a new way of working together that as I said in the beginning, as a marketer and someone who has spent ten years in sales, I appreciate that more than ever. So I do think that that's really interesting in terms of thinking for 2022 and I would say dissolving this old myth of sales and marketing don't get along. I think we've made strides against that. What I'd like to ask now again for anyone listening in and everybody I think right we're always learning ABL always be learning if you will. Where are some of the places you go to, whether it be publications, podcasts, maybe you follow some influencers, micro influencers in the space, to stay up to date in the ABM kind of strategy or the field. What are you reading? That's a great question. And I probably won't pick out any individual pace because I'm a consumer of all sorts from everywhere. And so there's thought leaders that have been around for a long time. There's new thought leaders out in the space. And I would say this would I, but having the likes of John Miller in the business is huge. I mean, he was the founder of marketo and engaging. So he's got lots of experience and knowledge. And not to plug at all, but his new ABX book that you mentioned is a great font of all knowledge. So, you know, here there and everywhere to be honest, I listen to podcasts like yourself. And I'm always up to date as much as I can with what's going on. But it's a constantly evolving base, right? I think there's always new players in the space. And it's good to get their take on it. Because often they have a different approach which harnesses things. Cool, cool. So we'll encourage everybody listening in to go follow both John Miller and Paul Gibson on LinkedIn so they're shooting out these new pieces of thought leadership and maybe new approaches. I have two more questions for you before we close out our show. The first is LinkedIn. We can go on LinkedIn and search for Paul Gibson. There's a few that do come up. You find the one for demand base and we can learn a lot about you. And the same rate can be said if we Google your name. What I want to know right now and I'd love for you to get a little radically transparent with me is what's one thing that you can tell us about yourself that we can not find on your LinkedIn profile or know from Google. By me, that's how I answer this one. No, I think from my younger days, I've always been a bit of a surfer a bit of moschino and one thing I always wanted to do. I don't know if this is a sort of alter looking for. But I've always wanted to do is open up a rum and surf shack or a raman ski shack. So a sticker hut on a beach to the tropical island or up in a mountain somewhere and hire out surfboards and skis and then at the end of the day they come back and we sit and over some cool music and a bit of rum, we just talk about the day. So I don't know if that's the sort of thing you're asking for. That's something I've always wanted to do. I'm probably getting too old to do it now. I might just have to settle on the ram and forget the surfing and yeah, one of those dreams that I've had since I was a young kid. I mean, I'm one day one day. One day, listen, one day, what I have to ask though because I know you're sitting in a Mia, where do you surf? I don't know anymore. I used to, I used to follow the sun. So I used to go down to new key, which is down in Cornwall. Around there a lot, but I went across a lot in Europe, Portugal and places like that. And then I took a 18 month sabbatical and went traveling around following the sun, so I went down through Hawaii and I did Australia and all around there. So yeah, anywhere anywhere there was a way but I would give it a go. All right, well, we're hoping to see that ramen surf shop, and maybe the next that's the 5 year plan here. So we'll keep an eye out for it. My last question for you Paul. Anyone listening in, they want to learn about ABM. They want to know more about demand based. They want to learn more about surfing, where is the best forum or channel to reach you? LinkedIn is always good. And I'm open to anyone having a chat on LinkedIn. I don't know if you've got my details, I can share them, if not after this. I'm very open. I'm an open book as they say and happy to talk to anyone. As I say, you can find me very easily. I'm on LinkedIn. I'm not necessarily me, but we have a really good dbe resources just set up. So anything you want to know about ABX ABM, lots of really interactive videos with customers and lots of knowledge. That's a really good place to go as well. Fantastic Paul. Thank you for joining me on the radically transparent podcast, brought to you by octopus. "Transparent with me? I haven't date Jen looking forward to it. You're making this sound very old already. 15 years behind me. 15 years. A lot has changed in those 15 years. And where I would love to start because I find it fascinating, would you be able to maybe give us a brief journey? I know it's 15 years worth, but maybe we can trim it down to a minute or so of your professional journey and really what attracted you as the first employee really taking a risk there over in emea to demand base. Absolutely, yeah. And I'll try and do it in a way that I don't sound too ancient, but yeah I've started, I suppose where it might take world started. It was back in the Microsoft days. I was part of the Microsoft team that built and launched the first ever CRM version as we all know dynamics today. And back in those days, obviously, it was very new and very early, very exciting. So that was a great grounding on all things martech. And that moved in through an ESP I worked for mobile technology, predictive analytics, mainly in the B2C space and there's a great point actually. Why did I go into demand based? And I suppose there's about 7 years ago they approached me and one of the things I'd found over the years that there was a reliance on CRM and marketing automation systems which at the time were, you know, hugely being invested in and seen as very valuable, which of course they are, but they relied solely on the known audience. And there was this whole roughly around 95% of the audiences out there were doing things anonymously on and off their website. They just didn't know about. And then I was approached by this company called the mom base. And the first thing they said to me was we helped clients turn on that 95% of the anonymous traffic. So they understand where they should focus their efforts on the unknown buying committee rather than the no. And it's still as relevant today as it was then. But to me, it was a no brainer. And I was like, wow, and that's the missing best of missing pace. So I was very excited to jump in both feet. So I think that's phenomenal. And ABM, I feel kind of as marketing has evolved. All these big trends and everybody's, you know, kind of jumping. I think at one point it was content marketing. Everybody's doing content marketing and now, you know, account based marketing, you're hearing it all the time, and I know we're going to get to later in this episode kind of where it's going, perhaps. But in a quick one liner, what value today does demand brace, demand based, excuse me, you really bring to your customers. And it's involved so much over the last two or three years of putting it into one sentence will be tough. And I talk too much as it is. But I'll try. So what do we do? We help our clients really understand from their ICP accounts. Which ones are in market right now? Buying journeys and what buying signals are they giving to help our clients understand who they should focus on, what messaging they should utilize and what channels they should make use of within their marketing stacks as we call them. And then roll out activities around maybe email or advertising, et cetera. The idea being we help them build a better more relevant pipeline with faster sales cycles, higher average order values and close rates that go up. So that sells and marketing line at the second to them. I don't know if that was a sentence. I try not to breathe in it, but that was a really rapid way of saying, you know, end to end all the things we've been offering. Oh, I love it. Anything that says sales and marketing alignment. I'm totally on board with and for. And that kind of leads me into kind of this account based marketing and you know, I'm not trying to sell it short here at all. And, you know, you're coming over into the episode from demand based, which I know ABM, it's really what demand base is all about. But I do feel like right now it is a super hot strategy. I don't think you would talk to any sales or marketing leader right now and they wouldn't have heard what ABM is or not sure what ABM is. It's a pretty solid part. I think even after looking at those two transitional years, I'll call them off the pandemic. We've seen kind of everybody pivoting towards a more ABM approach. But what I do find interesting, the more and more marketers I speak with is that there are still a lot of us, sometimes myself included, right? Who we really think we're doing account based marketing, but in reality, when I speak to some of the experts who really do live eat sleep breathe account based marketing, we're actually not even close. So I was hoping we could get a little bit radically transparent if you will about what marketers may not know about account based marketing or we can approach the question a little bit differently and your opinion, what don't we know that we should? Yeah, that's a great question. And again, multiple answers around that one. I think what's interesting as we said, I've been doing this for about 7 years now for them on base. And it's changed dramatically. I don't think anyone's ever disputed that account based marketing works as a tactic. But I think what's changed over the last 7 years, it's evolved from that manually intensive. Each of those accounts we've got to build microsites for we've got to build this big plan and strategy or whatever, which takes a long time. And it's actually quite an expensive as I say time consuming manual process. And with the introduction of technologies like a demand based and others out there as well, it's now turned into something that can be scaled. So you keep that understanding. You want to be personalized. You want to be relevant based on what they're doing and how they're doing it. But now with technology can scale that across all of your relevant accounts. And that means all of the sales managers and all of their accounts are getting the same approach that once upon a time just that key account used to get. So I think that's a big thing that's changing. You mentioned planning. And I think this is fascinating now. And one of the things that I talk about all the time, not just with marketing and sales, actually, more and more with CFOs, which is really quite an interesting subject is the strategy for a lot of marketing and salespeople is still built a lot around that. It is that guesswork. I hope what I did last year will work again this year. And I hope that those accounts I want to go after the right ones. And I think often what's missed is the power of data that you can get in these technologies now allow you to understand, actually, these are the combinations that I should be focusing my efforts on. And these are the marketing strategies I should have. As opposed to saying, well, last year I spent a million pounds on advertising. I'm going to do it again this year. Now CFOs are getting a bit smarter, and they're saying, well, okay, well, where are you focusing that a million pounds? Who are you marketing too? So I think what is actually changing is that account based marketing is getting more sophisticated. And I think it's really making sure that we've all got limited time budget and resource, right? Let's make sure every element of that is only spent and focused on those companies that a we can sell to and beer in market right now. So I think it has evolved, and I think now technology is still making a far better part of that overall process. You can't do technology about strategy. You can't do strategy without technology. It's that combination of both, which I think has really taken a while to be adopted. And the other thing I would say is, I think the European market has had to be much more sophisticated, even perhaps than the U.S. market. Because in the U.S., there are so many companies, right? But even if you did a fairly average campaign, you're probably going to be fairly successful in getting a number of accounts engaging. In Europe, it's a lot smaller market and there's a lot more players in there. So you have to be much more sophisticated. So my view is actually account based approaches are probably even more relevant to Europe than they are in the U.S.. That's why U.S. colleagues. That's really interesting. You know, I want to also kind of dive a little bit into we talked about 2022 planning. And I think what you're talking about, okay, let's rely on the data. We want to understand which accounts we.

The lines of mr vegas and more is edgy. And then soco music we borrow from each other because music is But soka is definitive in terms of is just very as i said is very happy is very high energy level. Yeah because you so. He's hand but I think I think I'd rather talk about the 62 points that Steph Curry through in nine recently. Uh, a career high a career record for Mr Curry. Oh, yeah, They're they're you know, they're gonna be okay. This year. I think I think you're gonna be okay. James Harden, moving to the Brooklyn Nets. What do you think about that? Um I think there's too many egos and that room. I don't look at that going well for them. Okay? Re and Katie. All right, Mr Gibson. Let's sell it for to my son on that my, my youngest son because she tracks everything. Nanba. He's an and he's a hoops fan, huh? Yeah. Okay. He's my son. Okay. Alright. He's your son. He has to be a hoof in and warriors. Them, Uh, Paul. Nice share that that love of the Golden State. Worse. All right, Retek, her democracy, Senor Real quickly is what Um, it's a fire one C four all volunteer organization that Basically our purpose is try and make it as easy as possible for people in the community statewide to keep informed, engaged in all, and so we offer tools, Log radio show. Zoom in ours. We just did a zoom special speaker eat off. We're gonna do one with Senator worth at five o'clock, all kinds of stuff like that. We got a whole raft of bills that were supporting or the 2021 Legislature and we'll talk to you a bit about that. We'll probably talked again assed we get into the session. Good. All right, Uh, people have to do what they have to sign over their firstborn or do ah, Blood oath or what Tonto to join, and maybe zoom in with Senate Majority Leader Peter Word tonight. No, it's it's a lot easier than that. You can just go to retake our democracy dot ord and on the right there, But there's a button to sign up for the blogged. If you click that one. You'll go directly to the option of signing up for the blogger or the alerts over both, and the alerts go out every day, basically during the legislative session. Telling people whenever one of the bills were supporting is going to go before committee. We send our folks. The bill summaries, speaking points and contact information for all for the legislators will be hearing it. That makes it really easy for them to weigh in. And, um so you can sign up for that it retake our democracy dot ord And as you mentioned at five o'clock today, we're going to be speaking with Senator Peter worth about the legislative session for an hour. That's a constituent zoom. I'm so if you are, and you don't have to be a constituent. We prefer constituents for this, But the speaker and the senator are both like State leaders and such constituents from throughout the state have a vested interest in and what they do, and Senator Wirth and speaker Ego both are given toe how they're the most important people in the roundhouse in terms of Bills perceived. What bills get toe What committee? One bills get hurt on the floor. And so we want them to hear our priorities. And if you want to sign up for that You have to do is go to retake our democracy dot organ hover over the legislation. Um, menu in the home page and you'll see partly down. Retake conversation are con versus Senate District conversations or something like that. It's very clear. And you can just, you know, Click on the zoom, invite there and you're in the zoom room. All right, if you're in the zoom room, Can you go down to the chat button and had comments and questions during the zoom? Absolutely you we've got since we've got a limited amount of time, right? We had a team put together a syriza. Targeted questions because you know when, if you open it up to everyone, you know, maybe a bell that they're real interested in like abortion decriminalization, You know, that's real important, but either worth is Make sure that happens and we don't need to spend time talking about it. So we're gonna We're really focusing on bills where we're kind of concerned There might be some roadblocks. With the chair. The chair will be open and people can use. Yes, yes, and we'll send the chat to the speak senator, after our guess is that Paul Gibson? He and his wife, Roxanne, are retake our democracy. Local organization actually statewide organization Now, are there particular themes in this session that you're really going to be focusing on? I mean, pull that the cool thing that you guys do. Is you narrow things down. We're not gonna try and take on the entire session and every bill in all of that you narrow it down to me. Do you do a lot of research and provide a lot of good information around certain topics and certain bills. Yeah. Way started working, Probably right after the primary, um, working with allies like Mexico voices. New energy economy common cause Mexico Environmental law center prosperity works all those kinds of organizations we communicate with thinking, Mexico. We try and find out what they're pushing. And what we did this year legislative bills they're pushing on. What we did. This year was is really different. Normally we waited and had a team scanning bills is that they were pre filed, and then we developed our list. This time we developed the list weeks ago of 15 What we called transformational bills and our criteria for that is basically these air bills that are going to Uh, have the biggest impact on new Mexicans statewide, especially the most vulnerable the Mexicans and are going to take this state and maybe new directions and so transformative directions. And so we had those bills out quite early, and we actually have a survey and you can take the survey by going to retake our democracy dot organs. Survey. There's a button.

"In my opinion, hopefully it'll get back and back to normal and hopefully the woman who was injured by gunshot will recover and the law enforcement officers will recover as well, anyway. Curfew goes into Effect in D. C in 25 minutes. All right, Mr Gibson. What's on your mind right now? Local issues. The Legislature what he won't talk about Um, well, I just want to amplify and something You just said it When you said grenades. I went. Oh, my God. And it's I think it's smoke grenades. So I think the police are actually trying to do something. Well, they're flash bangs, so they're not. They're not. You know, they're just they're They're too stunned people. Whether they're protestors. They're using them. Or the police. They're using them. They're not going to injure people. They're just going to scare people. Well, I hope they arrest people. Lots of them. In any case, Let's talk about cheerier things. You know, since I spoke to you last time. I can't remember when I last spoke to you. It was on your show generally recently because you're on my show about three weeks ago four weeks ago, But in any case, retake as 15 what we called transformation of the bills that were advocating for the roundhouse. And we have a survey that we're asking people to take on doll. You have to do school, retake our democracy dot or g'kar and sign up and take the survey so that we have a better handle on You know which of those bills you like the most and which ones you want to fight for? And we asked people also to sign up or our statewide legislative alert because we're going to continue to do that. We've been doing that for four years. And, um, threw that you will get any email in the evening the day before Bill is going to a committee or the floor for a vote. And you'll get it. Contact information for the legislators will be hearing the bell speaking points a summary of the bill, the bill number etcetera, etcetera, and all that comes to you in a timely basis, and now Because this is a statewide effort and because The Legislature will be held by zoom people from throughout the state can weigh in and so we've actually seen an explosion in our numbers. You know, we've been doing zoom in ours. We call them zoom in ours. We had one with Senator Wirth and Speaker Egolf and pro TEM elect Mimi Stewart. The first the second of December and we had almost 360 people on the zoom and you know that Z many times what we would have had if we had done it in In Santa Fe, and it's also had people from virtually everywhere in this state. So we're diversifying our base and We've also created a new advocacy strategy. I mean, this year we got had our list of bills. 2.5 months before Bill started being introduced formally this Monday. And because of that, we've been able to, you know, talk to legislators Early. One of the things Roxanne noted many times last year is that she had the feeling that legislators already knew what they were gonna do when the hearing opened. And they've made up their mind. And so what we're trying to do is have discussions with legislators and their constituents, not just anyone and retake. But retake folks who are live in and vote for those ledge senators and we're focusing on the Senate. And so we have 567. We've done four and we've got several more scheduled With senators and their constituents, and the purpose of this isn't necessarily to try and convince them of the merits of our bill, but to hear what they think. And so, for example, in one of our in our very first one with Mimi Stewart, she really just sort of, uh, ex Exposed herself is not really understanding what the bill was about what it would build. Be specific. What? Bill Health Security Act? I'm sorry. Okay. Good moderation there and bringing me home on that one. The Health Security Act. And she was talking about how we really need to understand, Maura what the costs are gonna be. And you know, aside from the fact that we've had three studies that show that it will save the state money She's correct in that the bill the way that I mean the plan the way it is articulated. Now there are a lot of teased across and eyes to die. That will change things. And so but the but the bill this year Calls for one year study done by a board a state board of people in the Mexico who will they're not really studying. They're gonna work through the details. This is how it will work. And when you do that, then you will know this is what it will cost. All right. And so then the plan is in 2022 to get it implement. I guess it Paul Gibson from retake our democracy, he said. You have Maybe three or four more of these coming up with constituents and people from retake and everybody conjoined these across the country there on zoom. Easy to do, everybody can you know? All you have to do is log in correct. S O tell specifically which senators in which Bill so People can say we all I'm put to put a note on the refrigerator for that. So, so I just wanted to tie that last comment. Uh, because, miss, uh, speak speaker, Senator Stuart Really showed she didn't understand the bill very well. And one of the board members for Health Security or New Mexicans campaign was on the call perfect at rather than call her out. Quietly. She had conversation gave her information and then subsequently, Senator Stuart was on a zoom with the Unitarian Universalist Church. And when someone asked her about the Health Security Act kind of put her hands up and said, I get it, I get it. I'm all in favor it out. Good job, So that's how it works. The whole point is to identify where someone doesn't really. And this is no knock on any senator. There are so many bills and so little time and no staff. So you know there's no way they're gonna have read through the thousands and thousands of pages of what bills will look like. And they are citizen legislators. They are amateurs. Did you know today's the birthday of the State of New Mexico? We turned 108 today. Happy birthday, Steven, A Mexican Happy birthday state. Alright tells it like a specific bill and and senator that will be in one of these zooms that people can tune in on. So it doesn't quite work like that. We have teams that we've organized and we have about 200 people so far, and we're adding every day and they are all organized in different teams got you and those teams are specific to that senator. So when they talk, they won't be talking to a bunch of people from Santa Fe. We took Peter Worst word on this one. Said, organized these things by constituents, and so we have and so on our website under the legislation menu in the home page of hover over it, you can get our strategy. That's one page. You can get our bill this That's another page and you can get our schedule of zoom's with senators that have been scheduled. So all that information is there and you don't have to be a policy want to do this? I mean, we're organizing this so that three or four people on the call. Know which bills they're going to introduce. They're going to ask them about that. They're gonna be well prepared. The other people are there to show..
