Joe join a growing community of like minded thinkers who aren't afraid to question the narrative with that said onto our final story of the thirty. This is another story out of the wall street. Journal it is. Here's the headline pandemic hangover. Eleven trillion dollars in corporate debt stressed companies piled on debt as interest rates plummeted but could face a reckoning in the next economic downturn. So i'm going to tell you what that means. I'm gonna tell you what i think about it. So this. what they're saying is that there was all this subsidized debt. So interest rates were way low even though these companies were less viable because there is no business so there are less capable of dealing with the debt but they needed it more and all of a sudden the rates were less than they otherwise worse so three different kinds of businesses are the main categories of what who took advantage of. This one was refinancing old war. Expensive debt you're just a regular healthy company and you just said okay. This is an opportunity for me to take. This is lower. Interest rates will just refinance all my debt. That's fine Companies that were viable and just wanted to weather the storm by borrowing money just thought it was reasonable thing to do. They knew what they pay back. When economy came back. That's okay too but the last category is struggling businesses. That borrowed the money to stave off bankruptcy. Now those companies are. I would assume really going to go under now because let's say that this is part of the whole plan to that. I thought literally from the first minute of lockdown. The first minute i said well one of the things they're doing is highly aggressive in two ways. It's poor people can't stockpile stuff from costco and have a room for everybody at home. And they're the ones who are gonna lose their jobs because they they're a lot of times blue collar worker so that's bad for them but also mom and pop shop small businesses. They are not going to be able to stand not having any income for year. Those are the ones who are going to go under. I would say this is going to make that worse giving them dead and the.

We talked for a half an hour. About how four prophet racism persists in the education criminal justice and immigration systems. If you want to hear the full in depth conversation had over to patriot dot com slash woke up in his book. Jim talks about the concept of strategic racism. The idea that racial inequities are baked into our systems by design in order to make the wealthy even wealthier. I asked jim to talk about how the fight for. Racial justice isn't just about educating people but directly challenging our institutions that uphold and profit from racism. It's very exciting. That there are a lot of people now particularly after last summer who started to recognize the urgency to end systemic racism. And it's very exciting that lots more people are joining this movement joining these efforts. I mean i think the movement that's being built right now can finally achieved that goal. But i wrote the book because there's very little understanding of what and who stands in the way of that In a lot of these dynamics that you're talking about right. Because i wanted people to understand that the biggest reason why systemic racism persists is that these dynamics pre covid during covid which are so devastating for so many people of color and so many communities of color are for a lot of large corporations and wall street banks enormously profitable. They are the biggest reason why we have these deeply unjust policies on the books and they're also heavily invested in preserving and expanding racial inequities which i refer to as strategic racism. So the book is really intended to give people a road map of what it's gonna take to truly dismantle systemic racism. Because while it's very doable. There's still not enough people. Supporting racial justice efforts and far too many people posing them and as you say a lot of those people are getting even more wealthy and more powerful results of this global

Actually there's maybe this tiny Theory justification for the science of repressed memories and lindsay. And i took well lindsey. She's the scientists took a look at the evidence and we did see a little bit of the other side of that just to give a full picture of the possible science there There's some interesting stuff we stand by. Basically everything we said in that first episode about repressed memory and and the panic and all that stuff is still totally valid. But it was worth you know. We like being totally clear as c. Say on this show presenting a full picture of the science and so we delved into sort of the other side of that so super fascinating episode. Oh that sounds awesome. I haven't heard this week's sl yet. Largely because i was prepping late like one. Am your time on the night before. So i feel like it's it's okay buddy. I know. there's a game here that i would really enjoy. If i could just get into it. So i feel like this with this new hitman. Three is the perfect opportunity for me to give it like one more. I'm really gonna try. I'm really going to try to get into. I'm excited about it. I think my wife my About her favorite. Pop the assassin's creed. Games sneaking around us astern people. That's literally all you do so might be it might be hookup as well. I'm very keen to try. I'm also very glad patrick. Click onto the question for me. Hold on because. I think that question might lead into diego's question he wrote into patriots dot com slash. Kind of funny games says hi guys. First time longtime reviews for main three are out and largely positive. My question is simple as someone who never played one of these. Is it worth starting with three or their changes to the mechanics so minimal that maybe i should start with cheaper option of hitman to grabs me from their. Thanks much love. This is a big question. Not just the hitman to the back levels legacy stuff but is hit. Hit me in three a great jumping off point if you've never played before right. This is what you were talking about with club. We and we and we see this every time a big new game series brings out a game right like like one of the most commonly asked questions i've heard in the last year is like where do you start with for example the yakuza games. Many of the right should you. Can you start with like a dragon. You wanna stop zero. Always different ways to get into it. And so i'd every game is different right and every every series is different understand. Why the questions coming from right especially. Since i saw recently that i owe think tweeted something about it. Meant three being the the concluding chapter in a hitman. Trilogy edgy when i when i hear that that makes me a bit nervous like you wouldn't for example to just jump into light. Return of the jet is the first hours from the emerson right. Still be a great movie but a lot of stuff wouldn't make sense and you'd be a bit lost because you know it's picking up story threads been percolating through the previous two films. You would be like who's this guy share. What's going on. And on. I wanna you don't wanna have that feeling but i feel like these days especially we've really games when like years between games. It's it kind of behooves game developers to make sure each new game can function both as the continuation of what's come before legacy players but can also be on boarding can be an entry point for people like you as a game developer or published. You really know helping self if you say oh yeah. This is really only accessible to people who have already played hitman. Because you never gonna grow your your fan vice that what you've got to You you've you've got to have each game be an accessory. An accessible new entry point. And i was very glad to see. Patrick clinic. Asked the same questions anything's into similar position to me intrigued to try. The new one has spent a of time with hitman before. Certainly no up unlike the balaji in the lower. What's happening with like agent. Forty seven's store. I couldn't tell you a single fucking thing about agent forty seven and now he's a ball dude with a barcode on his on the back now and that's nice people is the. Is there much mortar. No probably any of it. But i was very glad to see this morning that apparently a lot of people had replied to patrick and the consensus. Yet you can just jump into say hitman three and whatever problems with like not knowing what's going on so that's what i'm gonna do. I also do have. The hitman wanted to legacy editions. That came whatever deluxe super duper pack. The i got so. I might try those as well but i'm just going to jump into three because that's going to be the one that is most optimized for next gen and like you know it's gonna it's gonna it's gonna have the most valuable learnings from one and two right and i think it's you and me. Gary have a very similar hitman story. Where i remember getting that i hitman. Ips two and bringing it home in popping it. It'd be like oh. This isn't what i thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be more like a metal gear at the time and so i fell off and so every man. That's come but let's talk specifically about this trilogy hitman one and two i pop on. I usually play the first map in the first couple mission. Maybe i into a couple of maybe one more. And i'm like i get it. I see what this game's doing it's not for me like something about it doesn't click and i'm right there with you of like. I know that there is a game there that i could get into but i've struggled to do it and so hit me three. I m coming in very much. And i've played on part of the review on. Ps i love you so far. I'm three missions into the six maps or whatever so there you go it. Was this idea that i'm playing it. I like it. But i don't and i don't and it's the hold up for me is in the over the you know. There's the individual individual maps with your targets and their intricate plots. And what to do. They're right over over. That is layered this the end of the trilogy story. That's happening right. And i think even for me starting at never having beaten hitman one or two but starting those games they do a great job of like. Here's what's happened in the previous games here. Who's these other two players. You're with our this is what's going on. Go for it.

Good day internet at patriotair dot com slash dpd s. Let's start with a few things you should know. Amazon has discontinued its prime pantry. Grocery and household item service products previously available in pantry will now be available like any other products on amazon. So it's not going away to gather but the service itself prime pantry launched in twenty fourteen offering reduced shipping on up to forty five pounds of household goods for a monthly fee. Amazon node vied prime pant pantry subscribers about the closure in december and then issued refunds the. Uk's competition and markets authority launched an investigation into google's privacy sandbox. That would block third party. Cookies in chrome regulator received complaints from the marketers for an open web coalition saying the plan would abuse google's dominant position in online advertising. So the investigations going to evaluate. If the privacy sandbox changes would concentrate advertising spending market share with google samsung launched the galaxy chromebook to a cheaper version of the galaxy chromebook at launched last year so instead of four k it has a ten eighty p lcd screen with less storage fewer cameras less ram. It's also heavier and thicker overall but it also now starts at five hundred forty nine dollars instead of one thousand dollars. That has a thirteen point. Three inch nineteen twenty by ten eight hundred sixteen nine. Lcd touchscreen with the dual core intel seller on five twenty five you upgradable to an intel core. I three ten ten eleven ten one. one zero. You eight gigs. Ram and one hundred twenty five gigs of storage for six hundred ninety nine dollars a shortage of semiconductors affecting automakers. Volkswagen said last month that they needed to adjust first-quarter manufacturing plans around the globe because of the shortage. Now honda says it will cut domestic output by about four thousand cars this month at one of its factories in japan nissan is adjusting production numbers for its note hatchback model and ford has moved up previously planned downtime at a kentucky plant for its sport utility vehicle factory to the jin chips all right. Well we're talking about cars. Let's talk about the the apple car. Yeah a lot of rumors as of late will really over the last few years. But but but the rumors had resurfaced recently and hyundais. Now talking to apple about kerr's so says the company hyundai representative told cnbc quotes. We understand that apple isn't discussion with a variety of global automakers including hyundai motor as the discussion is at its early stage. Nothing has been decided. Korean economic daily said that apple suggested the arrangements and hundred was reviewing the terms that involved e production and also battery development hyundai has had his own battery platform called e. g. m. p. going into production later this year. So might be saying what you're doing. Reuters sources say that apple would like to produce a passenger vehicle by twenty twenty four however might not be that date bloomberg's mark gurman reports in thomas e. v. from apple is five to seven years away and michio recently said he wouldn't be surprised if it takes until twenty twenty eight. Yes what's probably going on. Here is apple and i think this significant part has decided to start investigating how they would build. Whatever it is. They're going to build whether it's a whole car or an integrated platform and they're going to different manufacturers and parts suppliers and folks like magna including hyundai. And saying what are you got. How can you help us with this. And is a great company for this because they make parts they make systems. They make full cars. There's all kinds of services in the conday company that could play a part with apple so it may not be. That apple knows what they want from hyundai. It may just be that they're going and saying hey let's talk. You do a lot of the kinds of things that we think we're going to need. I'm pretty excited about this. I just got my first hyundai ever this year and my perception of this story was weight but hyundai currently uses android auto and a lot of their their cars. So i would love to see. How apple would integrate Hyundai's current technologies into something that is very useful for that apple ecosystem not just looking at e itself but also the The the systems inside of it the controls in how they would manage that four a driver and a passenger in the car. Yeah i mean. I think that's one of the big questions that i have is okay. Let's say let's say it's hyundai that that applet ended up working with with clearly not set in stone at least from what we know at this point. But let's say it's the companies for kicks. Let's imagine that that's what it is. Yeah it is. It is an apple car that hyundai produces a lot of parts for the way that works with lots of other companies to produce other hardware for apple. I mean that that's the loftiest kind of goal that we're looking at and maybe that would take till twenty twenty eight at you know if if apple was lucky. I think it probably has more to do with like you said shannon not that you know android auto wouldn't still be prevalent in a lot of passenger vehicles but maybe at some sort of it's a special relationship. It's it's a special kind of os inside a car that is supposed to you. Know i don't know move some merch because What apple is providing on the software side is is. Is that much more interesting. I really don't know if you look at that. Bloomberg article mark gurman sources are saying that Tesla people that apple has hired are working on things like interior exterior. Drive train stereo. Desist the kinds of things. You need when you're building a car not carting a software platform so then the question becomes is it the apple car period. Maybe hendaye makes it. Maybe somebody else makes it. And you know they'll figure out how to distribute it or is it the apple car by sunday and you go to hyundai dealership to buy it the way you went to an. At and t. store to an apple iphone but it's really apples car in cooperation with sunday. Are there multiple partners. I mean that's all the kind of stuff we're waiting to see but it really does feel like we have gotten to the point where this is no longer just yeah. They're working on project titan. They don't know what they're gonna do to. They have an idea. It's more than just software and they're working out the details. Maybe they don't even know that yet. Well i'm interested to see what happens but we also have some other news. Security among the systems impacted by the solar winds attack is the electron filing system. Used by the us federal courts at investigation is underway to determine if confidentiality of documents filed with the courts was breached and as a result starting wednesday confidential documents filed with the courts will be stored on standalone systems. Not uploaded big difference so these are documents sealed from public access because they contain sensitive information like investigative techniques identities of informants and a lot more other. Us federal agencies affected included the justice department the state treasury and energy departments as well solar winds has engaged. The krebs stay most security consulting group to help deal with this attack. That firm was formed by alex. Stamos the former chief security officer at yahoo and facebook and chris krebs the former director of the us cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency or sisa. So krebs was fired last month. By the president after finding no evidence of with voting systems in the twenty twenty election. Yeah stamos first of all brilliant for those two to team up and smart for solar winds to engage them for what they say is Helping with transparency with companies that are affected But this we we are not done finding out how bad this is. There are reports that there may have been other ways that this whoever is behind this intruded beyond just solar winds. They're finding evidence of that. They have not been able to root out the people that got into this vulnerability from all systems yet. They're still in there in a lot of cases. And you know this. This kind of confidential information is exactly the kind of thing you fear that someone would get intruding into a government system informants investigative techniques that you can now learn from to evade being prosecuted or caught yourself. That's that's crown jewel type stuff it's it's very interesting. In fact krebs spoke on record saying that it could potentially take years to figure out how deep the solar winds attack actually went and how many different kinds of infrastructure. You know brands and everything that it might have affected so this is not something. That's going to die anytime soon. I'm glad that they are reaching out. Craig's and stay most though because that i agree with you tom. It's excellent. excellent team roku made a few interesting announcements roku says. Npd data shows that the roku s was the top selling smarter operating system in the us and canada in two thousand twenty thirty one percent market share in canada. Thirty eight percent in the united states That's pushed the samsung's tizen number two. At least we don't actually know samsung's ties and was number. One in two thousand nineteen also announced a wireless soundbar reference design that uses wifi for its roku. Tv ready program remember. Last year roku announced the program which had a designed for wired. Sound bars. The program includes tcl. Pokemon on an element has just announced. They'll join as well with two point. Two point one ready sound bars roku tv ready to expand internationally later this year as well. But here's the big roku news roku has agreed to acquire exclusive global distribution rights to more than seventy five Shows documentaries some of which had not been released before qube shutdown. So there'll be some new stuff that nobody's ever seen after their exclusivity deal expires. That'll happen in a bit more than a year. Depending on the show roku will still have the rights to show the content just not exclusively until thousand twenty seven the content will have to be presented in original increments of ten minutes or less. The deal doesn't let them stitch it altogether. The content will be added to the more than forty thousand movies and tv shows already available. In the roku channel shows include from Be anyway punked. Murder house. Flip and dummy which stars anna kendrick. I never watched the new punk. I heard had its moments. The whole qube thing. It's really interesting to me because it was sort of like. It crashed and burned so quickly. And there's a lotta shot and friday around folks in the industry about it. And i think that's not because qube was doing things wrong. It was because the company had raised so much money time. Because you know. They had meg whitman. Jeffrey katzenberg who are you know. Heavy hitters and there was a little bit of like you are being to embassies and therefore you shall fail. The company did fail and the idea that some creators will have a new life on another platform shows. That just don't even saw but people still worked on. And maybe you're really good. I think this this makes a lotta sense and good for roku to get exclusivity for at least a few years so does roku have to wait at all in order to start showing this content or can happen immediately. I don't know when the start date. Whenever the deal is you know goes into effect. Then they'll immediately be able to to show it so you know within a month or so it would be my guess anyway but no they. They don't have once. The deal is actually in effect. They don't have to wait. What's going on here. is that the baby. Production companies own the rights to their own stuff but they have a two year exclusive for each one of their shows with qube and those two year exclusives are now being transferred to roku so roka will be able to have the exclusive for the remainder of whatever. The period was with quick. That's why it's more a year. Exclusively goes away then they still have the right to show it until twenty twenty seven but the production companies that made it can now start shopping at around to other places as well so the production companies do hold the content and remember this is just the content. Qube is still in a over. Its turnstile technology which is holding it up from selling its technology and i would expect once it resolves that lawsuit should resolve it in a way that they still hold their technology. They'll sell that to so this isn't the last you're going to hear could be selling off a part of it. I would imagine. Gotcha yeah that whole. The whole technology part of qube was again was an ambitious thing that was released at a very inopportune time in twenty twenty when everyone was like. We're just sitting at home like we don't need this like mobile phone technology. It's like cool that you can shifted around but you can't even cast thing. I mean the company did fix that pretty soon after allow about she was just. I mean it's just did. The timing couldn't be worse but that technology when you think of it in a variety of other form factors such as monitors that swivel talked about some of those yesterday. I don't know that qube or tiktok or snapchat or all of the stuff where we're like. Oh yeah that's the. That's the portrait view. Rather than landscape view. That works for certain apps is is is all that this is four. I think there's more to it So we'll see what happens and there's patents and things that are always valuable because you can use those to extract some concessions and money and stuff. So yeah expect that all to come join the conversation in our discord which you can join by linking to a patriotic. Can't get in there and talk about your favourite qube shows with all the other discord folks. Just lincoln to your patriotic out at patriotair dot com slash. Dpd s all right shannon. How do you clone a security key. Well i i will say please do not stop using your security keys because of this story i will explain it. Researchers from ninja lab published a paper on thursday showing how you could clone a google tightened security gate this is a two factor authentication key which is very similar to a you. Be key that you have to plug in or tap in order to access an account after putting in your username or your password credentials. Were both so in order to pull off the clone. You would need physical access to the key for about ten hours. Sometimes a minimum of ten hours just kind of depends on how good you are at this. About twelve thousand dollars worth of equipment physical equipment and custom software and some advanced skills in electrical engineering and cryptography as well. So you have to remove the chip and then take measurements of it at a being registered on each account that you went to attack the measurements observe electro magnetic radiation as the chip generates digital signatures that let the attacker slowly deduced the private key so measurements take about six hours per account. That's not including taking apart. The original tighten security key putting it back together. Then you need to seal the chip back into its case. You also need the targets password in order for this to work. So the reason it works is because of vulnerability in the security hardware chip residing within the google titan key and that is called an eighty seven hundred x by this company called. Xp if it's exploited in attacker could grab the elliptic curve cryptographic private key for the account and the same chip is actually found in other two factor. Authentication physical tokens as well like There's a ubiquity that it's found in but chances of attack or very very minimal given the scope of the attack so if you do all of this without the target ever noticing then they would never duplicated key but again given the scope given how much it costs and everything behind the scenes probably when it happened to normal user. The point of these security keys being the best way to use For two factor. Is that you can't even get at your private key right you. Nobody has to be able to get in there like the chip. Just doesn't make it available so the fact that they were able to get in there and get it is huge. You know the fact that they were able to do this is significant. But i mean if you're not a target of an advanced persistent threat. You don't need to worry about this. No one's going to go to the trouble to do this. And even if you're a target. I would guess shannon that most of them probably would be able to notice if someone took their key for ten hours or more you. You likely likely would especially since a lot of people with hardware tokens like google titan will stick them on a on their keychain for example like with their house keys or whatever wherever they keep all those personal physical devices that they don't want lost or stolen they keep them all on engaging so if somebody was to take one of these out of your purse out of your gym locker wherever it might be and remove it for like ten hour street minimum. You would likely know that this would have happened. the neat thing about these chips inside of these. Google tightened security keys. And any other cryptographic hardware tokens like these is that. Even the manufacturer doesn't know the private key so the fact that they were able to find vulnerability on these specific chipsets is really interesting. And i think that's the important bit of that. Is is even though the google titan like the end all be all of really excellent. Two factor authentication. There's always. The potential that vulnerabilities can be found. So i'm happy that this research came out. It's so fascinating and it's so interesting in this means that an x. p. and other security chipset manufacturers that sell these teeny tiny chips to google or whoever the company might be They can build on this. They can research and figure out what the next version of their chipset needs to entail in order to not be vulnerable to this again in the future. Yeah i mean this is really a good security story right. We finally figured out because there's always a way right. We finally figured out the way you get the private key out of a security key and guess what it's really hard takes a long time and now that we know it we can make it even harder and hopefully you know push that barrier out even further and even if somebody did have time to do this and you didn't notice i was reading the paper because i'm a huge nerd and they go as far as using fuming fuming nitric acid in order to get like melt the epoxy off of the original google titan. How are you going to put that back together. In order for somebody to not notice like there's a lot of intricacies with this attack in order for it to actually be pulled off so chances are very very slim that somebody would be able to pull off so again as i said at the very beginning. Don't stop using your google tightened security key if you have one keep using it because chances are you would never be attacked with this. Just just know if you haven't seen it in ten hours look together strange. This is going to be in a movie though. I'm calling that shot right now. We're gonna we're gonna see this movie. Where like i hope so. Somebody goes into surgery and they take his key and they go out and do all this and they slip it back in because ten hours later. He wakes up from anesthesia on something like that. I just hope they talked to the researchers so they actually show it off right. Yeah Sony tv and audio announcements Starting with details for its own tv lineup. Sticking with lead ravi x four k and k. Tv's will support four k at one hundred twenty hertz variable refresh rate vr as well as a l l m low latency mode and e arc. These are all things that are important. If you've got a ps five now you've got sony. Tv they can go. That sony also has an improved a chip that is going to improve the picture and sound positioning. So it aligns with what you see on the screen. Sony's master series. Tv's will come with a sensor that adjusts white balanced immense. Your ambiente color temp. You don't have to do anything they'll just do it. Also an aluminum heat shield. That will make for brighter. All the sets will support. Hdmi two point one. Another big one for ps five dolby vision hdr angle tv. Sony also announced. It's three hundred sixty reality audio platform if you're not familiar with three hundred sixty degree audio places instruments and vocals in a virtual sound field around your head but using just the one speaker so you can do this in an amazon echo or google. Home sony will start streaming video with three sixty audio later this year. Starting with concert from zara larsson on january eleventh. And somebody's gonna make speakers that support this. It'll be may supported by other speakers as well. But sony is going to put out the are five thousand and three thousand They've got that dark cloth. Surface that all these speakers seem to have these days with either bronze or silver accents. Work with google and amazon assistance and can connect to select sony abroad via. Tv's as well as supporting wi fi bluetooth. Spotify connect in google cast. The speakers do automated calibration to the room. They're in donut. The press a button for that. Either and we'll simulate three hundred sixty degree audio for stereo tracks as well. The five thousand cost five hundred pounds or five hundred ninety nine euros no. Us price yet on the three thousand two hundred eighty pounds. Three hundred fifty nine euros. This seems this. Seems like it's shaping up to be one of the trends. Is this the sort of three hundred sixty degree audio while you're listening to your black bank and it's just one speaker or potentially a couple of speakers ativan. Maybe yeah yeah already supported. Yeah there's less of kind of like What do i have to do. Five point one surround or at least get a couple of speakers and make them a stereo pair type thing. I really haven't heard this in. I don't know. I used to hang out at magnolia at best. Buy all the time. And just like geek out on stuff like this. of course. this technology wasn't around at the time. But it's really come on. Let's turn on some stuff and see the speakers. Do it works well. Then that's awesome my first reaction because i got rid of my kind of pants speakers some years ago because friend of mine needed them more than i did and i didn't have room in my apartment but i miss that i'm also an a. A permanent now that's smaller and kind of has a lot of weird angles and i find audio bounces off walls in wiz. That wouldn't if it was more of a square box broom So i'm not sure that i'm the perfect target market for this. You're the you're the one puts this through its paces and sees if it really works. Yeah if i could actually work as advertised again with some funny angles in a big old frame. Then i'm i'm really into this and i've always been. I don't have a sony. Tv currently sorry zony. But i was abroad. Bravi a person for years. Nears i think what the new bravi line is coming out with. Looks really nice. And i mean not totally in the market for a new tv. But i like the fact that i might get a new sony again paired up with a sony speaker. You got three six. Yeah already got all this stuff. It's going to be a messed anyway. You slice it. But i like. I like this to be sixty reality audio platform. What would you have set up in your house. I was straight up going to mention sonos because if if it doesn't have the connectability to be able to work with all of my other platforms that currently have invested in. Then chances are i wouldn't buy it. So i do have sono says in my house and i do have some issues connecting those with other speakers in the household to like like my google hub for example so the fact that this works with google and amazon assistant the speaker specifically The audio speakers. I think that's pretty cool. I like that. They are bringing that in and i am interested because i do live in a household. That has very high ceilings. How this would work in that kind of environment. So yeah. I'm very interested in the audio aspect. Well you might also be interested in what colour has come out. Oh yes the folks who make things like toilets and and sinks and lots of appliances however. Been a real. Cas mainstay for the last few years for some cool innovations and this year is no different. Even though we're not in vegas koehler has a new smart bathtub called the stillness bath. That lets you use an app or use your voice using google or amazon's assistance to fill up the water or perhaps set the mood by changing the color of the lights around the tab or even add some fog. You know you wanna kind of pretend like you're in the then present routines also turn on features in a certain orders if you wanna get kind of creative. that's cool. Yeah the certain amount of limitations with the base model and the base model is not cheap so temperature and depth control models alone will cost around eight thousand six hundred ninety eight dollars. That's right it's almost nine thousand dollar bathtub. If you want the experience tower that lets you activate fog and aromatherapy. That will run you just over ten thousand dollars. Both models are available in july. There are real things and if you want the version with lights and floor grades for overflow fifteen thousand nine hundred ninety eight dollars available. This october signed me off. I won't be buying those. Nope not even a little bit but we could have taken a bath at s in the new in the pre show roger was like. Why would you want fog. It's like this. Why does anyone want to be on. Yeah racist luxury suites in hotels for sure as well as apple's houses sure yeah something well. Yeah it's it's that like hey look at what my bath can do people go. Wow very fancy and then you know ten years from now will be like remember when we thought it was fancied to talk to your bathtub so that it would start filling up without touching it but Yeah it's it's somewhat silly because of the price. But i'm not really much of a bath person but they do look very nice all right. Let's check out the mail bag but ads do it. Nick wrote in with a pronunciation. Ramps own neck. You are not alone he says. Ac's rog is an initial list. Because it's our og like fbi or cia. People say ron yet. They're lower end gaming brand tough not initially them. It's an acronym like scuba or produce you f but pronounced off. It's like ace's can't make up their name minds. Then there's strict which is our subbrand strikes as a word it's a completely nonsensical made up word. But it's a word and you pronounce it as such nick as honestly as somebody. That buys a lot of hardware. Because i've rarely had a bad experience with them over the past twenty years. I am baffled by some branding decisions. The one the bugs me. The most is the strict subbrand. Sometimes acis makes the tricks products. The high end product in the product stock yet other times. It's a mid range product. Would it be too much to ask for consistency and product. Branding twenty twenty one. Yes apparently apparently we feel your pain. Nick i love the dichter's just like i just need to vent you guys. Let me let me let me get this up. Just we appreciate that. Yeah i mean i. i'm with you nick. Everyday is a fresh new hell when it comes to reading out some model numbers but what is not is shouting out our patrons at our master and grandmaster levels. Only 80's Kids Will Fear This
"You're walking along the path in the woods. Maybe you're on a hike. Maybe you're headed to a picnic. The sun is shining and the warm breeze. Ruffles your hair suddenly. You're halted in your step. Your back foot is sinking into the ground. You try to play your other foot firmly to lever yourself out now. Both feeders sinking. It's quicksand. You'll be swallowed alive. You struggle to get free but that only makes it worse you'll be sucked under in a matter of seconds except my name's moxy and this is your brain on facts. Let me open. Today's topic that being things eighties. Kids were taught to be afraid of that. Aren't actually things we need to be afraid of i. This topic was voted on by supporters at patriot dot com slash your brain on facts and secondly that the research led me in directions. I wasn't expecting so the final product is as much a surprise to me as it will be to the listener. You do when your clothes catch fire and it always seemed like when not if the same thing you never see anyone on. Tv or youtube do when they find themselves doing surprise johnny storm. 'cause play. Stop drop enroll. Earning close burn you. Stop drop and roll because people burn to a message from the new jersey department of community affairs bureau virus thing if you try to tell me that a single year of elementary school passed in the eighties without the stop. Drop and roll lesson. I call you a liar. You were going to catch fire early. That much was clear but as someone who hates her home with wood and has been through two house fires and a lightning strike. Let me test that catching fire is not the inevitability we were led to believe but the lesson wasn't wrong as much as it was. Maybe a little late children's clothes and blankets catching on fire had been a common tragedy in households for centuries back in olden times when your heat and light and not a small amount of entertainment all came from some manner of flame. My mother's family actually lost a little one that way. Time and human advancement helped to drive down the frequency of juvenile incendiary casualties candles gateway to gaslight which was replaced with light bulbs and fireplaces were replaced with heat pumps the ignition sources were fewer and farther between but technology is nothing if not a double edged sword enter at the same time synthetic fabrics which rather than burning like cotton and wool would burn drip spread and adhere to skin. The truth of the matter is eighties. Babies were among the first kids to have a substantially lower risk of clothing fire incidents. Thanks to nineteen seventy five's formation of the consumer product safety act. Well actually a lot to nineteen fifty. Three's flammable fabrics act. But then i guess we should go back to nineteen forty-five end gene. Autry for those without a standing dinner reservation at golden corral for four thirty gene autry was a cowboy crooner who made his mark in radio tv and films for over three decades back in where a brand is a brand where the long hunt being celebrity. He had merch including branded cowboy costumes for all the little ones at halloween thousands and thousands of these were sold across the country. Then the tragedies began between late nineteen forty two and continuing until at least nineteen fifty four. An unknown number of children were badly badly burned. When the fuzzy fabric of the chaps came in contact with an ignition source and the entire garment would catch. It was three long years from the first incidents where people began to understand that something specific was wrong. Here that the material used for the chaps was the cause of these tragedies it was so flammable the entire outfit would go up in a matter of seconds before the child or parents even knew what was happening to react. This was the nineteen forties a time. Well before the constant global connectivity that we've been used to for twenty plus years so news of these incidents remained is located and the picture incomplete.

Cyberpunk 2077: CD Projekt Issues Statement
"Executives at polish video game publisher project s a took responsibility for the buggy release of the highly anticipated titles. Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven this week telling staff on friday in an email obtained by bloomberg that they will receive their full bonuses no matter how the game is reviewed previously. Cd project developers were told they would receive extra pay based on the game's critical performance. Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven. Which came out. Thursday is one of one of the year's biggest games and a monumental relief for the polish publisher which only makes a few titles every few years may only make new titles every few years the sci-fi role playing game sold more than eight million copies in preorders before launch and has been acclaimed for its mechanics and story but slammed for the number of glitches bucks as a friday cyberpunk. Twenty seventy seven had had a ninety out of one hundred on the review. Aggregation website metacritic a strong score that has nonetheless disappoint shareholders if that score dips below ninety. It may no longer meet the threshold. That cd project had originally set for bonus payouts quote. We initially had a bonus system that was focused on the game's ratings and the and the release date but after consideration we believe that measure is simply not fair under the circumstance wrote Adam hausky studio head and creative director for cyberpunk twenty seventy seven an email the saf quote. We underestimated links an complexity involved to make this a reality and still you. You could to deliver an ambitious special game. End quote. The bonus system see project read. You are project. I'm sorry use for developers working on cyberpunk twenty seventy seven complicated every month. Team leaders at the company gave out tokens styled after the studios logo a red bird to members of their team. They felt deserved. According to three current and former employees those tokens would have been transferred into bonuses. If the game met certain criteria like critical acclaim in a timely release under the new system those payouts will be guaranteed. Even though cyberpunk twenty seventy seven was delayed and the review score has been mixed this performance. Bonus comes on top of regular annual profit. Sharing payouts tim What is your reaction to all of this way the you. Where are you right now on your cyberpunk journey. I know tomorrow we're recording. A games cast patriot. Dot com slash. Kind of funny games. It's you it's me. It's probably amy. It's going to be blessing. We're bringing in paris lily. We're gonna have everybody. They're talking about what they've done in cyberpunk. So i don't wanna i don't know is the kids say you know. Don't blow your load portillo. Even i mean just tell me a bit of what you think. I am absolutely loving cyberpunk twenty seventy seven when early shocking for me a lot of that again not to go too deep into this but it is surprisingly linear for me so far with with how i'm playing the game and on my l. This is actually. I'm i'm really digging story and i i am lucky enough to be playing it on a super high end computer with thirty eighty graphics cards so i'm not getting the problems that everyone else is getting. I'm still getting a ridiculous amount of bugs. Like crashes way too often and just the game is so buggy that i'm not sure sometimes if things are intended or not and like that to me is the biggest. Where am i something. We'll be having on my. Is that like a weird glitch affect supposed to be there because it cyberpunk or is there something wrong and it's gotten to the point that it is definitely hindering. My experience with it adds. I like the game. Don't love the game. that's and i i want to love the game. There's so much there but all of this fucking bullshit like regardless of my experience liking this game. It's like this game should not have shipped and the way that it shipped is ugly like this is all bad and this this letter here is. We've talked for years about wanting more transparency from developers from publishers. For everybody honestly everyone every side of it. This is fame transparency. This this is like a lies straight up lies. It's a fabrication of the reality of what their actual intent is this to say. This is even trying to save face. I think is going too far. Like i don't even truly understand the point of this statement.

A Slob Comes Clean
Making the Best of It
"This is podcast number. Two seventy two. And i'm gonna call it making the best of it with a making with the little apostrophe at the end because when we're all living the lives that were living right now during times of corona. It's like mike and the best of it. We got to put an accent to it right anyway. So this is making the best of it and a couple of things before i get into it. I do want to remind you that if you would like to be a patron this is not a patron interview. Strategy session like we've been doing Thank you for the great feedback. On those i love. I love just have an opportunity to talk to people. And i also love hearing from you guys how it helps you just to hear. The strategies applied in different situations Your situation is unique so getting to hear the same principle applied in different situations just helps it to sink in more and make it easier for you to apply it to your house anyway. I love hearing that from you. guys I have really enjoyed those doing those. There's going to be a lot more. Don't worry but i'm gonna talk real quick this week about making the best things because oh my goodness you guys anyway. But i did want to let you know i did. Just set it up if you would like to. I said where you can do. An annual membership for patriot. I know there's some people who are like you know what i prefer to do. One check so that's like. I'm assuming sixty dollars for the year if you'd rather pay all at once and join for a year. You do have the option to do that which you know. It's one of those things where it could be easier f- to ask for this. As a christmas gift the only issue is that it then renews on that same card. And so you don't know but you know what i mean like if if you've been thinking about it and you've been thinking you wanted to join maybe that will make it an easier decision for you. I'm kind of that way. Like i'd rather just say okay. I've got this money right now. I'm gonna spend this and that's going gonna be You know. I don't have to have a monthly charge anyway so that is an option. Now let you guys know that you can go to patriae on dot com slash. A slob comes clean. If you don't know what that is. This must your first podcast. But it's basically i call it my kindred spirits and it's Several different things. First of all You're getting the show. And that's that's ultimately what you're doing is supporting the show that comes to you free of charge every month and in comes to tens of thousands of free of charge every month but it also is a just a way for us parts show and as a perk of doing that. One of those perks is a super secret. Facebook group We're just full of truly lovely people who support each other and earls speaking the same language like they're speaking my language of cleaning and decluttering and organising so that you know i know there's a lot of decluttering groups out there and i think those are great but the advantage of this and the reason why it's a perk of a patron of the show is that you get to bring up your unique situation and everybody's speaks in this language of clutter thresholds and the beauty benefit of less and better and all that so you know the the criticism isn't there of oh or or getting thousand different ideas thrown at you instead. It's hey we will help you work through this situation or give you perspective or remind you of the things you already know because you've read the books and you've listened to the podcast but it just comes from that perspective and it gives everybody just a place to kind of like what i used to do on the blog. When which i mean. I still do to a degree but especially in the beginning when it was just like okay. This is what i'm dealing with today. High gotta work through this situation and get through it. You know a lot of people just do that. They just post like hey. This is my before picture of my dishes. And i'm hoping to post a after picture and a little bit in the comments you know whatever to anyway. It's a great group lovely people and that's also who the who gets to apply to do the strategy sessions here on the podcast so Again that's patriot. Dot com slash slump comes clean. All right so let's talk about making the best of things so back in march april may. Oh my goodness which seems like such. A long time ago i would do podcasts. Kind of deal with what was going on in our situations at that point And i would say things like. Oh i hope this podcast is irrelevant soon and you know and i would try to keep it very. Not just corona time specific. You know what. I mean like. I would try to talk about things and be like well. This can apply anytime. But here's how it kind of angles into what we're dealing with right now. Y'all it is the end of november. I mean by the time you listen to this here in the us. It will be thanksgiving day. And it's is not over and i i'm just i'm done with pretending like okay. Well this'll be irrelevant. And i do hope. This'll be a relevant soon. But i also let's just in where we all are right now because this is crazy i also know that different places in the world are different. Different places in the united states are different. As far as what exactly you're dealing with but but this is a worldwide thing like we. We're all dealing with the same thing. We may be at different stages if things we may be having different issues but the core thing is that this holiday season is going to be different than any in my entire lifetime.

Your Brain on Facts
Thanks-myth-ing
"Most without equal for this recipe you will need one each skylark thrush quayle ortolan lapping. Golden plover partridge woodcock. -til guinea hen guinea fowl. Wild duck red pheasant. Wild goose boostered and fake pecker pluck and got the birds then stuff the smallest bird into the next smallest birds cavity and so on until you have one neutron star of bird meet paraphrased from seventeenth century cookbook and you thought her duck in was a new thing. My name's moxy. And this is your brain on facts. Two days after this episode drops. It is thanksgiving in the united states and the supporters at patriot. Dot com slash. Your brain on facts voted to go. Turkey talk today. So let's go through the myths and misconceptions by working our way through a painting an odd choice as this is an audio only medium. Certainly luckily we don't have to pick just one painting. Most paintings depicting the first thanksgiving in giant air quotes of sixteen twenty. One contain the same things about of puritan settlers dressed in austere black clothing. With bright metal buckles gathered around a table laden with food. Maybe the family patriarch is offering a prayer and a small group of native americans can be seen in the background. Maybe one or two in the foreground. If i were to show you jennie. Augusta browns combs. The first thanksgiving or the first thanksgiving by louise jerome farris painted within a year of each other in the early twentieth century. Incidentally you'd say oh. Yeah that was in my history book which year all of them probably. That's how we've been taught to think of historical thanksgiving's but we're not school kids anymore. So it's time to update that image paintings of the first thanksgiving referred to that feast in sixteen twenty one in plymouth massachusetts. What we actually know about the feast. Concretely is very limited. It mostly comes from a single letter. Written by a communist named edward winslow two hundred and twenty years later in eighteen forty one. His letter was published in chronicles. Of the pilgrim fathers by boston writer and publisher alexander young and it was young. Who called the gathering. The first thanksgiving even though the word thanksgiving doesn't appear anywhere in winslow's letter that feast wouldn't have been thanksgiving to the pilgrims. Puritans did observe thanksgiving days after fortunate events like a good harvest. The were religious observances. People spent the day in church often in silent prayer and they fasted rather than feasted. It's almost the polar opposite of the way we celebrate thanksgiving today. So that day wasn't thanksgiving and it wasn't even the first for a few reasons for starters. It didn't happen a second time. Let alone annually. So it can hardly be said to be the first of anything it would take more than two hundred years for an autumn. Feast referred to as thanksgiving too widely proliferate second. It wasn't the first meal shared by europeans and native americans in the new world. A reasonable drive from my home here in. Virginia is the berkeley plantation where a thanksgiving feast was held this one by the europeans alone. Three dozen settlers arrived in the chesapeake bay in sixteen nineteen on a ship. Captain by a man who had survived the winter of sixteen o nine in the jamestown colony a winter referred to as the starving time after a rough two and a half months at sea and another week on inland waterways. They finally arrived at berkeley hundred later called berkeley plantation on december fourth. They disembarked assembled a meal. From what shifts rations. They still had ham and wasters probably and said prayers of thanksgiving. It was declared that their arrival must be yearly and perpetually kept holy as a day of thanksgiving to almighty god end so it was for two whole years in march of sixteen twenty two. The poyton having noticed that the settlers weren't leaving and in fact were expanding their territory and kept trying to convert and civilize them attacked berkeley and other settlements killing over three hundred fair playboys if you ask historians in maine they'll tell you the first. Such meal happened not in sixteen twenty one in massachusetts but in sixteen. O seven in papa main. The popham colony barely lasted a year. Thanks to a fire in their storehouse during the particularly harsh winter and miscalculations like staying in a four right on the shore rather than moving inland where the forest could provide a windbreak. They arrived in the

Ryan Cabrera and WWE Star Alexa Bliss Are Engaged
"I think that social media is a reality in this world In the world that we live in in the world of sports entertainment. And i think that we have to learn how to live with it and i think we can actually use it as a tool for example recording this on sunday and today yesterday at the time this podcast comes out. It was everywhere. Alexa bliss announces that she's engaged A lot of alexa bliss fans are so happy for her lot of alexa. Bliss fans are very sad. Because i guess they thought that alexa bliss was going to marry them until she got engaged. It was so you're saying there's a chance. I saw on the not sam wrestling discord room. Where all are not. Sam shells that are signed up to patriot. Dot com slash. Sam wrestling. That we all get to chat There were a couple of them. That were upset. That alexa was engaged because they thought that that was going to be them. Unfortunately it's not but don't worry you still got the patriot community. You still got us. Not sam shells that are there for you. it's not. it's not all bad news but it was everywhere. She posted this video of of ryan. Cabrera popstar cabrera who she's been very publicly dating Proposing tour beautiful thing. You love is a wonderful thing and seeing join in holy matrimony and become even happier is wonderful. It's one of the happiest things if you are with the right person. The day the night the evening the afternoon that you get engaged one of the happiest times ever just such an expression of joy. It's beautiful. I love it but everybody's talking about it. I mean alexa. Bliss is a huge star. You know you've got. Wwe tweeting about it. And i probably should be. It's it's a little bit absurd to ignore it. You know not only is one of the biggest stars really realistically alexa. Bliss is one of the biggest stars in. wwe male or female. She's one of the most famous people in. Wwe so you know. And this is big. Wwe is big time. Now you got sasha banks over here on the mandalorian which you see. Sasha banks one of the big another one of the biggest stars in wwe and probably the biggest tv show. that's on the air right now. You see that happening which weird. The wwe isn't making a bigger deal out of that. Like if i were. Www shouting it from the rooftops. But you've got that going on at the same time you got to cherry public engagement. You know i mean. I feel like we should let's angle for a reality show. Let's get on the phone. I was watching total balas over the weekend. And i was like you know what i miss. When they would go to wrestlemainia. I was just sitting there waiting for them to go to wrestling. Like oh wait. There is no more wrestling. And that's when. I realized that i was watching total bells for the wrestling parts. They still got daniel bryan on the show. Obviously no more john cena. They're not going to wrestling shows anymore. So it's like oh. I like the balanced. But i'm still you know living in brima to seven but they're not gonna wrestling shows anymore so yes so let's get alexa. Bliss rang cabrera. Let's get blissfully something or other. You know you got bliss already in there you you got it. But here's what. I think needs to happen now that we've acknowledged. Wwe is acknowledged it's all over wwe social media platforms. I think that you gotta lean into it. And i think that you should use it. I think that this can be a lot of fun. Especially because ryan cabrera is also a public person. Here's the way. I think this needs to go. You had this segment on raw last week. Where nikki cross is talking to alexa. And there's this acknowledgement that they used to be friends. Which i think is great. We're not pretending that the election nikki partnership never happened is a big part of. Wwe at the time you know. We're still acknowledging it and alexis doing that. Weird phony friendly like almost like i'm in a trance. Peewee herman thing and nikki cross tells her alexa you gotta pick mere the fiend and alexa. As if it doesn't bother it all goes. Oh okay. I pick him. And walks away and nikki crosses befuddled by the whole thing befuddled. I love this. I think we need to keep this going. You know i look. This is the type of stuff. I want for alexa bliss and the this is why i say. Keep the fiend away from the universal championship. Keep the fiend away from the wwe championship because these are the types of stories. You can tell you know. I think that we should go back and look at who are friends. Were in annex t the start telling those stories and have somebody come out. Go like lexi. What are you doing things. You're you're not the same person what what's happening. I pick him and you know over. The course of a couple of weeks have her abandoning oliver. All friends and then finally ryan cabrera comes out on raw and it's like real life now it's like is this alexa. Bliss is this. What's her name lexi kaufman in real life. I don't know. I only know people by their wrestling names. But is this the real alexa. Bliss from real life. is the character alexa bliss now. We're mixing everything up. Which is what we should all be doing. That's the way wrestling is at. Its best mix everything up. And you've ryan cabrera out on raw and he's like alexa. I love you and she's like i love you. Do you know like yeah. Of course it you love me. I love you. We're we're doing great and he's like well. You're not the same person i thought. When we got engaged it would shake you out of this transfer inches. I'm not in a trance. I'm just seeing things for what they are for. The first time ryan cabrera goes lexi. I need you need you to pick you. Pick me or the fiend. She's kind of taken aback. She's like i didn't realize he felt that way. Ryan that's how i feel and she's like well net case i pick him. He's like what and then you hear bumble bumble bumble and the lights go out. Eat whatever those sounds are and tom phillips going. Oh no not here that's alexa. Bliss fiance pop sensation ryan cabrera and the red lights come on and the fiend is behind ryan cabrera and ryan cabrera's looking around and he's looking at alexa bliss. I what are you doing here. Like this is our real life and then he realized he gets his goosebumps. You realize the fiend is right behind him so he turns around and the phoenix cox's head and sticks his tongue out of his mask grabs ryan cabrera vice skull dips him over gives him a kiss on the forehead and he sister abigail ryan cabrera. Alexa bliss is real life. Fiance get sister abigail an alexa bliss just standing over him smiling. I love it man. I mean i i think that why not why not. I feel like it would be good for everybody involved. Like let's let's blur the lines here guys. Let's not pretend there's two separate entities as it's happening eventually we can tell the story of how like. Oh this is so wild in my personal and blah blah blah but while it's happening muster blending these lines with blurred altogether be like. That's a real fiancee right. Yup like the best is when you're trying to explain to a non wrestling fan. What storyline and what's not storyline. And they get confused because you're a little bit confused because you're not one hundred percent sure where the lines are and who's getting worked by what maybe. wwe tweeting about this was part of the storyline. All along are they even really engaged. I don't even know anymore. I don't know anything anymore. I guess i'm just going to sit here and watch monday night. Ron finds out. Find out what happens next. Because that's the way we should be watching anyway. Just let it play out and see what happens. I would love that if that happened. I would love it if that happened. Socket in our discord room. Says i love that. Sam has cabrera taking bumps like the fiend doesn't use the middle claw. He hit the mandible claw. After maybe alexa bliss puts the mandible claw him or something like that but is taking sister abigail. I mean we are laying out ryan cabrera. 'cause i want e. news. I want entertainment tonight. I want whatever extra whatever. Entertainment shows are left on television. I want people magazine. People dot com. I want everybody posting videos of being like popstar ryan cabrera. Remember him. Well i remember. I remember will now. He's getting laid out by the fiend on monday night raw. Because here's what happens. If you have a pop star that you grew up idolizing and he's getting laid out. Here's the way that works. You get the people who don't watch wrestling to not only get a glimpse of monday night raw but they get a glimpse of the theme. The is one the most unique properties the wwe has. The fiend is the type of visual. That went a non wrestling fan watches. They go what the hell is that. I'm going to have to tune in and see what that's all about. That's one of the strengths of the fiend. And if you got footage of ryan cabrera eating a sister. Abigail and his real life fiance alexa. Bliss is looking on happily in that weird fien state. You got money bro. you got money. I hope they're already thinking in that direction. If not. i'm in text. Bruce richard because somebody has to tell them get ryan cabrera on that show and lay that out. I think it'd be great. I think it'd be great. Congratulations to the two of them. But i have to believe that ryan cabrera. Whatever time of his life. I know i would if my fiance was a wrestler and she was like hey would you mind coming to raw and having the fiend. Give you sister abigail. I'd be like number one. That's awesome number two. After the show me. I get a picture of him in full gimmick. I really wish i could do that. I really wish i mean. I wish. I wish that. I could have one of the shows that i was at the fiend was at too. I wish i could just go like hey bro. Can we take a picture with you. Still in your gimmick and not. Be a weirdo. That doesn't deserve to be backstage. Because man do. I want that picture a really really. Do

Devolver Digital’s Fall Guys Is One of PS Plus’ Free Games in August
"Frankfurter writes in the Patriot Dot, com kind kinda funny games like you can't and says good morning blessing in Tim Fall. Guys was in Beta test this past weekend, and it seemed like it was an absolute smash hit. Hit, even bigger news. It's going to be free. It's GONNA be a free game with PS plus for August. It seems like this is the first time in a long time. A Sony has pushed a brand new game two, plus rather than letting it hit the marketplace. Do you think this is testing the waters to what xbox has been doing with day? One releases on game pass, or are they just giving us a new game late in the generation to keep us hooked into their ecosystem, thanks. Thanks for we do Frankfurter. I don't know what that means. For what you do, raise what he meant. But I don't know he making a Typo into thanks for. Either way we appreciate it. Mr Frank I appreciate. I do think that it is is the last thing they're. They're just giving us a new gameplay to keep us in the ecosystem combined with I imagine, it's on the fog. Is Deb side of or pub side of them? Wanting this to be played by as many people as possible. We've seen so many different games get massive legs in success because they were put free to play or not free to play in the case of this, but you know what I'm talking about like yeah, heavily discounted, or they're more accessible than it would be to a larger group of Gamers, and that kind of gives it that groundswell especially for a game. That's GONNA. Be As heavily streamed asphalt guys is. I think that there's a potential especially this late in the generation all that and the fact that it is on PC. As well that this game could be huge in a way that like even gang beast wasn't like. ABC's was like such a youtuber moment in time, but I think that. Moment of time still going to be fair, but I think that fall guys kind of having a launch that it's about to have I expect really big. Thanks for this game. Yeah. This is one of those situations where everybody wins right like you get a cool new game for PS, plus like one of the more exciting games you've got for PS plus over this last year Fog is going to get a huge player base which is big for game. That is sixty players in in each match. Right like you. You want this game to his players as possible and it's and it's a console exclusive to playstation, and so like you really want ways to have that play base be big and this. This is one of the main ways that they can do that. You know on top of the fact that this is GonNa be a game as heavily stream. Stream there's GonNa be a game that is going to be a content driver so yeah I think that's big, and then also this is going to sell ps, plus for a lot of people for that same reason right is this game is heavily streamed. If people are watching youtube, videos or people are people are playing this game and having a blast, and you see that Oh. Wait this games free on PS plus I'm GonNa. Have my mom give ps plus or I'm going to get. It was leaked. What's with the deeply ingrained bias against mobile games that so prevalent and gaming culture? I guess a different type of experience but so many people right off a game as soon as it's announced for mobile and I don't really understand how does that look I it looks. Getting Credit for Your Housekeeping Effort
"Thanks for joining me today. This podcast number two forty and I think I'm going to call it getting credit for your housekeeping housekeeping effort those who understand my struggles those of you who don't just listen as wow now. I understand other people but instead that are like Oh yeah that's me Already know what that title means. So anyway I'll go into it here in just a minute before I do. I want to make sure that you listen to last week's episode with Rhonda. I really love these strategy sessions that I've been doing with my Some of my people from who are patrons through Patriot dot com slash. Assad comes clean And the end we we just got to talk through some things and I've heard from several people who were like. Yes I also live in the country and understand how easy it is to Just kind of spread your stuff jeff out on land. You know that kind of thing and so I love it because it brings in other people's unique situations and we kind of get talked through what might work mark what to try in those situations so go back and listen to that one too but you don't have to stop. Now go ahead and listen to this one and then go back later if you missed it. Okay this is what made me think about about this subject. So I I have an adult child now. I've mentioned that I'm sure I have It happened over Christmas. I say it happened but you know he just had a birthday but they. It's not like I didn't know it was coming for the last eighteen years anyway. So we're we're in this kind of interesting phase of life right now where he's getting ready to launch if that's what you want to call call it Often to his own life here soon anyway. He is a senior in high school and it didn't really make a huge difference in the fall because of football but now that football is over he has early release. So that's pretty common. I know it's an a lot of different different places. A lot of people I know. Have Seniors and up. They've finished their credits or the majority of them and they don't they have some free periods and so they could to leave school early if if they get that done as part of their schedule so he leaves school at. I think it's to fifteen usually gets home around two twenty five and it didn't make as much of a difference during football all because he basically would come home. Be Home Work on homework for thirty minutes and head right back for football practice but Now I'm just going to be honest to totally cramps my style uh-huh and here's why okay so I've talked before about my routine of how I handle things and how I get work done and stuff like that. Well I basically basically you know I my kids off to school and then I work work work work work work and I work best in the morning. I'm a morning person and so I I work and that's when I have brain power and energy and you know especially like working on this book right now that I'm working on I you know I go to the library for as long as I can handle it. you know which opens at ten sometimes tended to or whatever and by the time to thirty like comes around usually. I'm done like that's kind of my if I'm going to give yourself permission to chill out for a little bit before I kind of get going on and the on different stuff other things. It usually is right around two thirty. I mean like between two and three. That's Kinda my okay. I'm GonNa take a little break here. I will often put off eating lunch until then and then I'll be like okay. I'm going to read a book while I ate my lunch or I'm going to Watch a show or whatever will on Monday I guess it was no it was yesterday. I don't even know whatever one day this week. 'CAUSE y'all don't care which day it was. I mean I have been going literally nonstop like I had just been to the library. I had written two eight thousand words. That was my goal for the day. Might even Trent Twenty five hundred. Anyway I was zapped like zapped. I had left the library and I was like okay. Hey I am going to. I think it was about one forty five when I left so I'm GonNa go home. I'm going to eat that leftover soup so I'm gonNA feel like I am having a great. You know decently healthy lunch and I am going to watch a show and I was like really looking forward to it so I get home and end. I get all that together so by the time I sat down it was about two o'clock and I watched a show and it was the second one you know. It was a thirty minute show and I was like. I'm just GonNa Watch one more because you know what I'm exhausted. I did really good work today. I'm going to do this. And he walks it now. Granted I had changed back into my pajamas like I was. Oh that's embarrassing but I'm just you know why not be honest with you guys anyway. So I changed back into my pajamas. I come home I had been an real close like the entire day to that point so come on. It's a lot to ask a writer anyway so I come home and because 'cause I was finally home I changed into my pajamas and I'm sitting on the couch watching a show and eating. My lunch might decently healthy lunch. And he walked in and he goes this and this is a sweet kid you guys. He's one of the sweetest of the kids living in my house. I'm just saying and he goes. He Goes Oh take the day off today and I was so offended. Look I was like you know and I went. This is why he cramps my style to come home at this exact hour of the day. I'm like I can work and I can work and I can work but if he comes home and that's when I'M LAYING DOWN IN HIS MIND I've been laying down the whole entire day. You know or I have been sitting there watching. TV The whole entire day because that's the only awareness that he has of my time anyway so I was very it. Did it hurt my feelings and I did kind of you know. Say No explains things but I also get it. I mean like I'm not mad because I get it. I get that you only are aware of what you sec- okay and it made me start thinking about how that is one of the huge frustrations for a lot of us in our homes. You know I mean you know I wasn't. I was writing yesterday. I wasn't even necessarily working on the kitchen or anything like that. But that's our frustration is like I want credit for this stuff that I have done a specially in the beginning when it all feels so completely unnatural and you. Who are you know trying to make a dent in not having done what you needed to do? So it's that much more overwhelming. Both in how much there there is to do. Because you're digging out from maybe you know never having had a dishes routine and you're just getting started or whatever but also you know just really pushing passed all of those mental hang-ups that you have against doing it this way and really. Do I really have to do the dishes. Everything that I buy. Whatever all all those things make it such this huge looming thing like I have done something major and we want credit for it all right? Let's take a moment to talk about one of this episode's sponsors better help. Some of the stuff we're talking about today. Ultimately comes down to relationships and expectations and the stress can be greatly increased when there's stress in those

How I Built It
Growing Your Business Through Podcasting with Matt Medeiros
"Hey everybody and welcome to another episode of how I built at the podcast that asks. How did you build that today? My guest is a good friend of mine and a repeat offender here on the how I built. podcast Matt Medeiros. He is now a sales over at Paisley. He is still the host of the Matt Report and he is the host of a relatively new podcast called we are here over South Coast FM Matt. How're you Joe? It's always a pleasure to grease the airwaves with you. Your former Co host of we are former CO hosts in a different life. Yes yeah absolutely back before you were a Paisley you're doing. Was it a weekly or biweekly. Show up whenever I was whatever. Halftime called plugged within radio on DOT COM Fantastic well I'm glad to be back on the airwaves with you sportswise allies life is drastically different. You guys have one year. Your Red Sox won a world series since we last were on the show together. The giants are terrible. But the Yankees just picked up Garrett Cole for an obscene amount of money. I'm excited about twenty twenty. I'm still crying over the patriots loss from last Sunday. So that's I was. I was at the Eagles game As we record this. The Eagles played the giants on Monday. And I was at that game and the for I wish the game ended after the first first half many others. But that's not what we're here to talk about. We're here to talk about Uh specifically kind of building your brand and your reach through podcasting which meant I feel like you've done Exceptionally well especially in the general kind of wordpress base base where we operate a lot so maybe we can start off a little bit With who you are and what you're doing these days. Yeah so I do in the work precipice anyway. My report DOT coms honest where I do all of my Open Thinking for better for worse on a podcast and blog over there but doing it now for going on eight years and was really thinking back to Just a lot of the stuff that I've done both video and audio in the wordpress base I've you know I've never counted the episodes. What's but it's probably somewhere north of five hundred audio episodes and Maybe five hundred issue videos all about wordpress crescent more recently as an reason as last year started a local podcast for local entrepreneurship. I'm about an hour south of Boston. It's called the south coast of Massachusetts and You know doing sort of the same thing highlighting entrepreneurs in my south coast region. And it's a totally different animal. Like comparing you yeah. Traditional Internet podcast versus local podcasts. But we can maybe chat about that stuff today and of course selling over at Patriot dot com. Yeah that's so I I definitely do. WanNa talk about that because Well first of all for the Matt report you pump out like I feel like tons of really really good content like especially your. Your videos are really thoughtful. Feel like you're good at that How do you come up with that content is it just like whatever? Are you just like such a good thinker and then you record those thoughts are or do you have like a list of content cover so this is my biggest challenge and it's one of the challenges. I am really trying to focus on on. Twenty twenty is to actually have a content calendar in have a process in have a purpose the purpose for the last seven years. Joe Has just been to talk out loud to meet people to have conversations and for when I say better for worse. There's some things I say that people don't agree with that they don't liken it sort of affects me and then there's things that people attached to latch onto you but I do this simply well on the wordpress site in the business side. I do it because I simply love wordpress and I simply love building businesses in seeing things form out of nothing and my whole you like you said I create a ton of content. I create the audio stuff. I do video. Oh stuff for my report which is like critical thinking pieces and then I do to`real still on the plugin touch channel which are more just like yours. How you use something in wordpress and these all all of these things come up as they just pop into my head and I just do them the south coast 'em podcast? I'm being amusing. That as a a sort of my my lab experiment to map things out and for that show I actually do have things mapped out because I have such limited time time that if I didn't have a plan for that show would never get to it like I would never get things done and actually using it in finding new processes Aziz over there and say you know what I'm going to apply what I've learned doing that stuff over there which is like one on one level stuff to bring it to the Mayor Report in twenty twenty just to give give myself some kind of runway some kind of breathing room.

The Allure of Extra Space & The Challenge of New Schedules
"Am talking to. I think it's Rhonda. It's been about a month since we recorded. This and I think I thought it was RENOVA. And then she told me is remanded but now I'm worried that I thought it was romance and she told me as Nanda so you're gonNA find that out in the pike. I guess I could go listen right anyway. but You're gonNA find that out when I do a little bit on. The podcast comes on but I I enjoyed talking to her so much. I mean I have had so much fun talking to kindred spirits because it's like Oh yeah we're kindred android spirits so we get each other and it's just nice knowing that we're all each other's people so Anyway the things that are unique for her situation are that she has had a major job change and with that came a major lifestyle change so she went from Three hours of commuting every day cashew working from home but then does doing a lot of traveling and so that was interesting. We talked through. Just I mean that's a huge. That's a huge thing as you start to get a few things under control and then life changes then you have to get those things back under control in your new situation. So we talked through that she's also got adult adult children living at home One lives at full home full time and one who is in school and then comes back occasionally and stuff so we talked about that kind of thing I I another thing for her is They have a lot of land and so the outdoor decluttering. You know it's like oh well. They're really is space for this. And this and this so that can be a real challenge. Sometimes I know well sometimes I know for me personally I lived. It's a lot of years thinking by the next place where I live. If it had this much space then I would have no issues with clutter and yet that's just just not how it works right the more space you get it presents. It's own clutter challenges so we talk through some of those things and I think you're just going to like her a lot and Enjoy this conversation so I don't forget if you want to check out. PATRIOTIC GOTO PATRIOT DOT com slash. slob comes clean. That's P. A. T. R. E. E. N. dot com slash a slob comes clean all one word And you can find out that and also have a link to it in the show notes. Okay enjoy this conversation with Renata Rhonda Iran data. Hi thanks for coming on the PODCAST and being willing to talk about all of your issues with the world. Thank you for your help. So you're willing to go by your real name Rene Window which is really pretty name. Where did that come from? Thank you my parents actually made it up. My Mom always said I knew you'd be a little different so I'll give you named her with it and here we are. I love it I love. That's so you filled out your form that we had in the kindred spirits group and so I know a little bit about you but I want you to tell everybody else. Can you tell me your unique life situation. Okay Well one of the unique part is I live in a remote rural town and I live in in the country outside of that town so for us to get anywhere. It's you know an hour to get to any urban area and Also living out in the country means I. I don't have neighbors so it's a blessing and a curse because I don't have the pressure of people just stopping by But it's also destination place so people come out you kind of have to let them in your house and go to the bathroom and all that kind of stuff and I'm married for twenty one years. Today's actually our anniversary. So thank you and we have to adults blitz and so we have a twenty year old and she lives at home on the weekends and works out of town on weekdays and then we have eighteen year old. Who's going to community college college so back and forth everyday so young adults just getting started still under your care basically would you say or yes? Yes under my care but now not under my control. Oh my word I think you just gave me a panic because I have the eighteen year old. WHO's get to be done really soon with school so okay but as long as you still pay for everything you you'll have some of that control tree true? Yes okay. So let's get into tell me some of the things that have been successful for you. So far like what strategies have had the biggest impact on your home. Well I go back and forth on being able to implement and not it just depends on my schedule. A lot to I was in a very stressful schedule where I was commuting muting a total of a little over three hours a day not home too late at night and so it was like every excuse in the book to have routines and that has changed and now I work from home and that's a whole new set of learning but after we got some. I'm kinda starting from scratch but I have had really good seasons where I have made sure that the dishes were done before I went to bed every day and then something would happen like I broke my foot and then that didn't happen again and it took us a year to get back in that routine So I think that's the number one major helper. That is the game changer. In meeting produce anything else and I go through seasons of being able to declutter kind of regularly. And then all the sudden dodge okay. You had mentioned that the dishes done before you go to bed does have a huge impact. When you're in that routine? Yes yes so like tell me what what kind of difference it makes. It makes a difference in the first of all if I want to cook anything. I don't have to clean the kitchen first so therefore we eat better food and we eat you know food and because we all have popcorn for dinner sometimes right. I'm not alone. You shouldn't do that. The best enters And then just the feeling of having that done relieves the burden. That would hold me back from doing other things because I'd say why can't go work on this because I have have to do the dishes so it just. I don't know it creates clean slate for the day right right. So tell me about the container concept how that has impacted your home It it is a rule that I can comprehend and a started. Just see it differently like my husband and I both are very optimistic and so it would be a lot of accumulation. It'll projects and what if since some days and accumulate accumulate accumulate until realizing. Oh I don't need to buy another cupboard because I have covered container and so if it doesn't fit in there have to make a decision versus not ever having to hold myself accountable to make a decision on what stays in what goes and now impacted my buying because I'm not. I know that I'm only going to go for projects that are current day or I'm going to say no because I have something else already in place but I WANNA do. I'm getting better outside to. We have a hobby farm which means we have a lot of animals and learning the container concept for them to like baby. Goats are amazing but You can really only have so many in one area you know so. We're not going to add more baby goats or pack or whatever and so oh totally yeah totally so it's helped me create limits and I also applied it in my mind. My schedule of. How much can I reasonably ugly? Take on and put in a day because are thinking that you're gonNa work from home and getting a lot done isn't actually practical. There's only so much you can accomplish in the time that you

'Borderlands 3' voice actor turned down role because Gearbox ‘wouldn’t go union’
"One on the report why Troy Baker isn't in borderlands three this is Kirk Kirk mckean over vg twenty four seven. If you remember we're of course do this whole Brouhaha for months. Now Randy Pitchford was asked on twitter. Hey is going to be reese. Randy said no troy turned down in Troy. I didn't turn it down. You guys said No. There's been back and forth. It's been ugly here's Kirk at VGA twenty four seven. We recently got a chance to talk to Baker during a fan event for wrestler replay. Let's play series the actor host alongside the other Troy Baker Nolan north. I love that during our chat he was openly disappointed that he didn't get a chance to play reese again in Borderlands Orlands three quote so they came to me and they were like do you want to do this. Baker explained which I said absolutely and then they made it impossible for me to do the role. It had nothing to do with money money. It had nothing to do. It had nothing to do with money. It had nothing to do with money. They just simply would not go about doing it the way that we needed to be done so then it it was like I never said no gosh I I worry Detroit. No he was talking to a reporter. It sounds like he's had a retro replay thing with Guinness just sitting there talking we we asked Baker to clarify what he meant by this scheduling conflicts or something else quote no it was simply a matter that they wouldn't go union. He replied and I can't do a non union union GIG without getting too deep into the weeds of that we had long conversations about this. We always knew going into it that this was going to be the thing they're gonNa take these characters and put them from put them from the tales from the series from telltale into Borland's proper. I've been waiting for this call. They were like do you want to do this and I said yes. They never they never because they would never move from that position. I'm not mad is invariably a complicated different. I'm sorry it's invariably a completely different different character but it's still sings stings fuck. It's hard to read quotes that are like just talking yeah. When it's a prepared quote we all go this garbage quote or a written word in general but when Choi's they're they're doubling up sentences over jabbing now the fun little kind of funny thing that we can do that but I want? I was going to bring in Chad's question because I think there's interesting. relation dossier Chad wrote in to Patriot dot com slash Kinda Funny Games says morning folks with the reveal this morning that Baker as a sack after member couldn't minute reprise his role of reese in Borland's three because gearbox wouldn't go union. Do you think this is something we'll see more of. Do you think this now becoming such a high profile story will before the hands of publishers to allow voice actors to unionize. I also wonder how often this happens. Considering it took one of if not the most popular voice actors sorry known to to make a headline that said I love the solitary solidarity intrigue continues to demonstrate that he is one of the kindest humans lot also. Let Your Voice Actors Union is Randy what the fuck cheers so yes. I already know where you're going with. This is an interesting story. If you all remember we hear kind of funny didn't animated series called kind of funny the animated series in episode one principal Christopher Walken it was played by Donna Troy Baker and the idea of course is that that'd be reoccurring character throughout throughout the entire run of the animated series well on top of that he was going to play two characters. He was gonNA play the principal. He was also gonNA play Troy who was like the Guy Oh I do. Remember who was a character in the show that just doesn't ever have voice yeah and the reason he doesn't have a voice is he's a Wendy's boyfriend. I remember that yeah I'd beef with Troy and we we we did a he pulled favor. I totally which is a gal do fucking voice view. He ended up getting kind of in trouble for it. It was more of a slap on the wrist. If you can't be doing that Shit so dr like hey we want to do the whole like series a kind of social. Whatever the hell it was at that point we had to go through his people and he didn't want to be that way he was he's like dude? I want to do this. Let's make it work but us us especially back then be the people we were. We got maybe two steps into that process and we're oh man it's complicated and it's going to require not too much money but the way that the money had to go was too complicated for what we were set up for gearbox they can handle that shape this and nothing that's of course the argument to be made here right is that kind of funny in the spare bedroom at the kitchen table and nick riding on these scripts was not the same as gearbox however there's a lot of different stuff going on here. Remember that when the David eddings lawsuit stuff was happening right and he was saying he that when he got replaced as claptrap this is a similar thing right that he left left in some he he worked at gearbox did the voice of claptrap and didn't get paid extra because of it. That's not the payment thing. I don't know anything about that other than what eddings has talked about publicly but that's still seems to be the case with how they do the voices in general right after the troy thing happened. I wondered if it was this based on what had happened with us. We obviously we had never had that kind of sag work a conversation before because we never did something like that before so it'd been so much time between borderlands two boroughs three I wondered after this happened with Troy was a union thing and then on top of that. I wonder how that would affect one actually burch who of course tiny team in the game is in the game. It is actually on the economy com slash wrong if I'm wrong about that doing tiny Tina's voice like I was wondering how she got around it because that's the other thing within the union ship makes everything so complicated. No longer on unions do a lot of great. I'm good. I'm not saying they're bad but I know like when I go and do the Lego Games because I'm not union. I have to do Taft Hartley Agreement. That's something weird like I. There's like paperwork on top of paperwork that is like we're bringing this person in because he s voice because of x y and Z yeah and so you know it's this weird thing of also talking to an extent here but for a long time not forever a longtime telltale didn't use SAG after voice actors obviously towards the end the change we're talking about in the borderland right here troy's in that obviously laurabeets in that all that but I remember and I'd have to go look at it now. There's there's something different about the credits where if you look through the credits of a telltale game where they use both union and non union they get credited in different ways interesting. There's so many intricate streak. I can't even talk to complications to use voice sag person or a a union voice actress nonunion voice actor that I I do wonder what this means for. How gearbox does it? You know I think chat ask in general I don't think so because I don't think this is something that happens often in many ways we've talked about. I think it is automatic. I'd imagine this happening all the time. I mean if it happened to us. I'm sure it's happening all over the place that you just don't hear about it because most people don't have podcast that years later the randomly telling the story sure you know but I think were going just different uh-huh directions with this one I'm saying I wonder how much this happens in terms of AAA Games. That's what I'm
