I know a lot of interesting conversations of happened that way, and of course, you can support US financially. This show does take a Lotta time lot of editing. Lot of storage and music and all kinds of behind the scenes cost. So if you can support US financially all we've ever asked for as buck show and you can do that through a one time donation through paypal or you can set up a subscription service that charges you for each show that comes out. We put a new show out every two weeks. So for example, if he did a buck show and every two weeks, it'd be about twenty five dollars a year. So way cheaper than a magazine subscription and it makes all this possible I. Do not want to fund this show with advertising or sponsors. We get asked about that pretty frequently but I a whole bunch of different reasons which I've said, many times on the show I don't want to do that. I. Don't like to have in that stuff at the front of the show. An awesome want you to know that these are authentic conversations with real people and these are just our opinions but our opinions are not being skewed by sponsors or advertising dollars and think that's a pretty toxic business model. So I hope you dig that. You can support us. If you go to cloud may dot com you can find the places to support. You can do it through Patriot dot com for slash cloud-based mayhem. If you WANNA recurring subscription, you can also do that directly through the website try to make it really easy and that will give you access to all the bonus material a little video cast that we do and extra little. Midnight Moment 5 - Social Media - burst 1

"Greetings citations my fellow patriots. Welcome to the moment host by meetings. Something that is that notorious have been around for a very long time social media. It's no longer really social. We actually sat and looked at everything objectively of course what does it really become nothing more than ads base Mr and Mrs you who bragging about how good their is even though the snow that it's not a political sounding board for ninety percent of the world to bent their frustrations, their angst, their disdain for whichever party platform, they choose not to mention the actual ability for people to speak to each other. Now relies more on a personal device. Versus actually using your voice that said what the Hell's going to happen when y'all break both your hands can't use. Thumbs y'all going be Butte can't talk to anybody the art of speaking is obviously a dead form of communication. Everybody's got to be on their phone tablet computer email whatever you wanna call it or thumbs are what they used to speak with rather disappointing. Actually those of us in the generation X. Whatever you WANNA call still know how to write cursive still know how to pick up the phone. And call somebody still can write a letter. It's ship it off in the US. PS they're not against different story. The point that I'm really trying to get to is social media has no longer become been a social thing. It's one thing or another. It's nothing more than just a giant bent platform for everybody out there. God knows if you've got to sell something, put it up there online you can't reach people on television because quite frankly people are tired of watching three minutes of programming and fifteen minutes of. Sorry. Now. I can remember way back when watch program you got eight and a half minutes program three commercials that was it, and then back to your program, they filled up with entire thirty minutes spot with the program. But Hey, last time I tried to watch anything on television and had been neutered and chop down to the point that I felt like I was watching a spam program of nothing but ads By this, go get this. You need this you're a loser you don't own twelve of these. nope not happening folks. We've got another segment coming up right after this brief break. Stay tuned. Really, Shop Dot Midnight Patriots Dot Com for a limited time. You can save fifteen percent on your order starting now. and. Now back to the show. So where we dive further and further into the rabbit hole, we would understand that social media is not social in. So much of the actual definition of social you want to keep up with friends see what they post on facebook want to find. Love and all the wrong places plenty of hidden acquitted places to go there too. It's disheartening to be for somebody that grew up. Knowing how to write a letter to express feeling in a written word versus here let me throw this in an email and hope that you understand it. Sorry. His plane as a text on the screen. But it has no heart it has no feeling has no. Guts real rather. Harder related is now saying that you know we need to go back to stone tablets and you'll sign A. Bloody fingerprint but it's nice to actually be able to read something that was written by someone who took the time to lay out a nice. He's paper, grab a pen and actually right not. Doctors Chicken scratch. Let me throw this on here and making notation. Well, there you go. Doesn't work folks honestly I'd rather go back to media has manipulated and destroyed the ability for people to social. Unfortunately. As we've seen as of late. The politics involved across every social media platform is enough to make anybody puke. It's not a this is what we're doing to try and better the country were trying to implement this. We're looking to get this. We're going to abolish this. It's now this is my opponent and they're ugly and if I tell it to you enough times, you'll believe it to sorry guys but. Not going to be manipulated like that truly, and unfortunately, social media has now become a narcissist tool remedy relation as much as I am. Having to research topics for our broadcasts and our mid, I've always and saw and so forth individual conversations accordingly it's disgusting that every time you turn around, it's one thing or another being degraded demoralized dehumanized smeared from one side of the other. It's depressing truly what all that said I, leave it up to you folks to research find out for your own stuff. See what goes on. We think I'm blind. Love me no. I'm always available for discussion whether it be through some form of social. Media. Funny I say that or when the time is, right we'll open up all lines and have you give us a call and we'll talk then until that point in time this is phoenix signing off everybody. Joy Your evening. Midnight Moment 4 - Voter ID and A Conspiracy Theory - burst 1

"Jury of Nation. Part hair and it's time for another installment of Liberty Virus via the midnight moment delivery system. that. I was night three of the Democrat National Convention Day One, hundred, sixty, fifteen days flattening curb. It allows unlucky enough to over here made me throw up in my mouth a little bit I gotta be honest with you wanted to wash the taste out with out. But. In the end, I settled for for a Nice Cup of coffee. George Carlin one said I don't have pet peeves. I have made major psychotic fucking hatreds. So in the spirit of both George Carlin and my complete total annoyance with current events, we're going to cover two topics with you. Tonight the first is a voter ID, and the second as a self developed spiracy theory that I would like your indulgence to entertain as strictly a mental exercise though in our society, there are things you. Have to show ID for buying a gun getting prescription painkillers buying alcohol buying. We'd words legal of course, a buying porn. You have to show ID at the DMV the board, an airplane to board trained drive an automobile the list goes on and on and on survivor is going to be required to do any of the above things or you know conduct adulting in any way as it always is lot why states not have a? Statute that requires valid identification busted as yourself that question for a second, you may not like the answer I mean Article One section. Four of the US Constitution states the times, places and manner of holding elections for Senators and representatives shall be prescribed in each state by the legislature thereof. But the Congress may at any time by law make or alter such regulations except as to places of choosing senator I mean there was. An assumption clearly present in our constitution that citizens right to vote is protected under free speech under the First Amendment. But in a citizen right the but I mean article two section one clearly spells out that our founders framers specified who could and couldn't be president no person except the natural born citizen or citizen of the United States at the time of this adoption of this constitution shall be eligible to the office of the president. Neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained? The age of thirty five years have fourteen years been a residence within the United States our founders and framers carved out specifics. Do you really believe they had any intention any intention at all for non citizens to vote in our elections? Give me a break. So if they're going to push the agenda and by the way I'm speaking to leftists and liberals who seem to think that showing identification at a polling place is somehow minority voter suppression Oh really then I say, well, no, I devote no idea by guns no background checks ever for anything. No idea to buy booze or weed. Or board a plane. Is it. Any wonder that liberal states have started issuing driver's licenses to illegal immigrants? Because if somehow some way. We restore common sense in order to our republic and require a valid form of identification vote illegal immigrants will be their voters and their voting block. I'm not suggesting we give up the right to an anonymous ballot that's absolutely protected by the First Amendment I get it. No. One has stating that your driver's license number be attached to your ballot. But. If you can't get into a bar without id if you can't buy liquor without ID, why should you be able to access the polling place? I just want to point out and make it clear the blatant outright shitting hypocrisy and quite frankly left racism in the claim that somehow requiring an idea vote is minority suppression really I mean here in Colorado most liquor stores that I frequent require id for every transaction and believe me I do not look twenty one or younger bars and nightclubs in this area often use a barcode scanners. Id and I know that it's that way in some other states, somehow all of this is okay but somehow requiring an ID to vote arguably the most violent in the world voting is minority voter Suppression Racist Bull Shit. So as the assertion that minorities by the way don't have an ID or don't have the ability or somehow incapable of getting one, I mean the bring specificity again. Zona adults over the age of eighteen are required. To carry ID at all times. That's whether you're walking down the street driving your car or otherwise, and that has been in effect since World War. Two, this is not something new. This is not something that the Clintons or the bushes or anyone else do any time in recent history this has been the law of the land for literally decades. Whether that laws right or wrong as up to you. But really do we really need any more outside influence in our country regardless of what the political spectrum you stand on our guys we've got another segment coming up right after this break. Stay tuned. Midnight Patriot nations spartan here with a shameless plug for our new gear shop shop dot midnight Patriots Dot Com. T shirts, hats, hoodies, mugs, phone cases just about everything else in between we got you covered whether you're looking to embrace your insomnia, show your patriotism or make a liberal hood. Explode. Really. Shop. Dot Midnight Patriots. Dot Com for a limited time. You can save fifteen percent on your order starting now. And now back to the show. So what are the talk about now is? A conspiracy theory I fully admit it. I have no evidence of this except what may be going on around us and some thoughts that I have from the Golden Age of talk, radio in the nineties I sometimes get what I refer to as nuggets of Universal Truth from what most people would consider fairly odd sources. You know movies, songs, sports, overhearing pieces of a conversation, etc one of the things that was kind of profound to me and rain true didn't I didn't really understand the time was the movie captain America the Winter Soldier. Now there's a scene again. Tomorrow will because they're fantastic and I'm going to kind of summarize here there's a scene where they're in a bucket in they're talking to basically an all German scientists. Brain is good put on on a computer and all creepy but isn't that scene they talk about humanity's freedom came. and. One of the things that they said was if you try to take that freedom, they resist humanity needed to surrender. It's freedom willingly. And they finally created a world. So chaotic that you vanity was ready to surrender it's freedom for its own security. Now I know that sounds bizarre and maybe I'm maybe I'm just being paranoid maybe I'm suffering from the Kobe. Kobe lockdown paranoia or whatever you want to call it. The understand this if you wanted to usher in a gestapo-type National Police Force. It had no loyalty to the constitution but only the politicians you know Kinda like Nazi Germany. What would you do? Well. First of all, you'd have to get the police to quit. So if you control the purse strings for the police, department what better way to get them to quit than it, cut their wages, cut their budget and then make them liable for I. Don't know everything. What if he told them to stand down while like Portland Eighty. Three nights of rioting destroys property assaulting assaulting citizens decade the police to quit what about like new? York. They cut the budget of Major Crimes Unit and shootings have gone up. To three hundred percent. Since that happened now, I wanNA make it clear that I do not support a national police force now. Yes we can argue that yes, we have we have federal agents the DA's the ATF the FBI etc. But none of them are actively patrolling the streets but how do you do it? How do you implement a Gestapo of social justice warriors that are essentially thought police, which is what the what's the leftist seem to want anyone that that goes contrary to their narrative anyone that disagrees with any they say politically. Well if you get all the local cops to quit, you have to have something because your citizens will not bag. For protection somebody did is friendly to that idea wins the White House than the Federal Police Force. Is created and then we end up like Nazi Germany. They're already talking about making kids where buttons identified that they either have or have not been vaccinated for Covid. Nineteen. One. Just go out and do yellow stars. Pink triangles. Any sense does you have to question yourself and even do the mental exercise of what's the end game now? This Shit I. GotTa Tell Ya None of it looks good. That was your mental exercise in your midnight moment I'm Spartan have ago. Thanks. Thanks for joining us for another edition midnight moment. "That won't show up in the public feed and access to our discord board where we're building community and gauging deeper conversations around the show. Here's a sneak peek at some additional Patriot only content. Somehow. I. Knew I lost something someone brought it up this idea that it. It's a way of getting at the whatever the problem of life in some sense right? Like you can call it original send you can call it whatever like it's there's That that weird wrongness that is part of. Life like that. Okay. There's so much beauty, and then there's like something's kind of also really weird and hard and. And and you could make an argument that that's just. That comes out of looking at things in a non helpful way to which you could do. But I think we all know that feeling right like I lost that I knew I lost something I don't know what it was. I say this is an example of being pushed by like my friend by circumstance by like of having to try to learn how to write this way better than I think it's a good example of me learning how to write in story. Midnight Moment 3 - burst 1

"Good. Evening Fellow Patriots by cryptic here, and this is your midnight moment for Aug today's topic GonNa be about racist. I, know it's a topic that makes people squirm in their butts pucker tightly and be quite uncomfortable. But we need to have an open discussion help change the mindset, raise awareness and. To learn how to be united. Tell me I know I know it's a topic. No one knows how to openly discuss without coming off as racist. Or. Insensitive. But hear me. I believe some of the contributing factors to why there appears to be a larger racial divide than when I was growing up is because of you guessed it black lives matter organization. The way people were raised generation to generation. And the biggest of them, all the media look the beyond him is a Marxist organization now wants to destroy our great us from with it. They don't care about, America they don't care about US Constitution the bill writes we the people or that all lives do matter if you don't believe me just check out their website. They only care about their own agenda fundraising and the lives they saved matter because those lives and deaths narrative. Quick Search on Marxism Socialism or for that matter Venezuela and determine for yourself if it sounds good. That it's the way you want to live because if B. M. continues to successfully extort companies, corporations and individuals like through cancer culture and threats of violence and is not stopped than that is what the USA is going to become on a week clear here I do support the message but I am saying stop supporting the organization. BLM is bad for everyone except themselves and their financial benefactors, AK George Soros. I support. Peaceful protests to convey a message for positive change in anchorage anyone and everyone to exercise their first. Amendment, right to help make that change. But when you went to take over city box, burn down businesses and destroy communities in the name of a cause or because you just want to start shit regardless of your race you my friend are a piece of shit and deserve to be treated as. Such you might be saying cryptic you mad, Bro what's the matter with you? Listen I believe there are some genuine people caught up in these rights protests that do believe in the message, but they're supporting the wrong groups in the wrong causes because they do not understand the difference between the message black lives matter and are equal to everyone else and the black live movement wants to cause chaos. I believe there are a few Batman racist cops out there. But. They do not outweigh all the upstanding cops that do protect and serve the communities and upload their host to the law and the US. Constitution they swear to protect just like there's some bad racist people in every race. But if we should not define race by some bad apples, why should we defy law enforcement that way I feel gutted? To my core that families have to raise their children to handle situations and interactions differently based on their color, everyone is entitled to be treated equally under the law and protected by the US Constitution regardless of race religion sexual. Orientation etc.. Now, if you're going to act stupid tough or disrespectful when you're putting the situation that otherwise would be a civil interaction then that's on you. Not those that you put into that situation by behaving badly disrespectful or breaking the law. But on you is a message back lives matter important. Absolutely I believe black lives matter as much as every other life and yes, I've heard it many times. Owners matters a racist term and not the same as black lives matter. You know what I have to say that fuck off all lives matter American lives matter if you need a racer colored in front of that, then you are promoting racial superiority and is you that are the racists? We are all humans. We all bleed the same color. In this audience, we are all Americans we all deserve to live our lives to the fullest of our abilities. I personally would not support any organization such as the him for one minute because their agenda is rooted in eliminating history. garnishing or eliminating everyone else's rights to virtue signal to the rest of us while making themselves out to be morally a racially superior everyone else fuck that. Had take a short break here. We'll pick up back on this topic after the break. Potential patriots is his pulse bargain with a shameless plug for our new gear store. That's right. Midnight Patriots now offers t shirts, coffee mugs just about every other researching where on your body the check it out go to shop midnight Beatrice Dot com is way to both embrace your insomnia, display your patriotism, and tell your governor go. That Shop Dot Patriots Dot Com fifteen percent off right now for a limited time now back to the show. Welcome back everybody just to recap who are talking about racism today and the reason things are fucked up as they are. So we call him Morgan Freeman. said it best on you gave a few years back to the best way to defeat racism is to not talk about it. I think he. To stop using it as justification for failure. Now, why we should have discussions to help figure out how to break the cycle racism and raise our children to not see your judge. People based on color but instead of on a person's actions and the way they represent themselves look if you're an asshole I'm a call you an asshole regardless your skin color because that's how you come off. That's how you act. Has Nothing to do with how you look what I take for Mr Freemen's quote is that don't use skin color identify a person. Let me ask you listeners this when you're talking to your friends to telling the story you say, Hey, I was out with some friends last night in this guy tried to pick a fight with me or you say, Hey, I was out with some friends last night in this white guy. Black Guy. Guy Etc. tried to pick a fight with me. And that's the part about not talking about race. I am focused biggest supporters of racism the fucking media, what the media is the biggest supporter of racism. Even as much as they try to say, they stand united the media's no longer news is entertainment and opinions and other ways garbage that leads to racially divide us all. I posted this on our facebook page a little while back. There were two articles written by the same new source when high headline read. Missouri. Women. Fatally. Shot by sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop. She was on art, the other article headlined red. Black man shot dead by Atlanta cops in Wendy's dreitzer. Both written two days apart by the same source. This right. Here is the problem. The media purposely motivates racial divide and rights. Sorry peaceful protests to sell papers and to drive the agenda of the left NBL. Going back to Morgan Freeman quote. This is what I take away from not talking about race media could to published the second headline without talking about race and it would have still had the same effect. But no in order to sell the story and helped push agendas, they've got to go ahead and add in the race aspect racism is going to disappear. Is By being able to have intellectual and civil conversations about what is causing. Thank you tuning into this week's midnight moment. Devolver Digital’s Fall Guys Is One of PS Plus’ Free Games in August

"Frankfurter writes in the Patriot Dot, com kind kinda funny games like you can't and says good morning blessing in Tim Fall. Guys was in Beta test this past weekend, and it seemed like it was an absolute smash hit. Hit, even bigger news. It's going to be free. It's GONNA be a free game with PS plus for August. It seems like this is the first time in a long time. A Sony has pushed a brand new game two, plus rather than letting it hit the marketplace. Do you think this is testing the waters to what xbox has been doing with day? One releases on game pass, or are they just giving us a new game late in the generation to keep us hooked into their ecosystem, thanks. Thanks for we do Frankfurter. I don't know what that means. For what you do, raise what he meant. But I don't know he making a Typo into thanks for. Either way we appreciate it. Mr Frank I appreciate. I do think that it is is the last thing they're. They're just giving us a new gameplay to keep us in the ecosystem combined with I imagine, it's on the fog. Is Deb side of or pub side of them? Wanting this to be played by as many people as possible. We've seen so many different games get massive legs in success because they were put free to play or not free to play in the case of this, but you know what I'm talking about like yeah, heavily discounted, or they're more accessible than it would be to a larger group of Gamers, and that kind of gives it that groundswell especially for a game. That's GONNA. Be As heavily streamed asphalt guys is. I think that there's a potential especially this late in the generation all that and the fact that it is on PC. As well that this game could be huge in a way that like even gang beast wasn't like. ABC's was like such a youtuber moment in time, but I think that. Moment of time still going to be fair, but I think that fall guys kind of having a launch that it's about to have I expect really big. Thanks for this game. Yeah. This is one of those situations where everybody wins right like you get a cool new game for PS, plus like one of the more exciting games you've got for PS plus over this last year Fog is going to get a huge player base which is big for game. That is sixty players in in each match. Right like you. You want this game to his players as possible and it's and it's a console exclusive to playstation, and so like you really want ways to have that play base be big and this. This is one of the main ways that they can do that. You know on top of the fact that this is GonNa be a game as heavily stream. Stream there's GonNa be a game that is going to be a content driver so yeah I think that's big, and then also this is going to sell ps, plus for a lot of people for that same reason right is this game is heavily streamed. If people are watching youtube, videos or people are people are playing this game and having a blast, and you see that Oh. Wait this games free on PS plus I'm GonNa. Have my mom give ps plus or I'm going to get. Because like has pluses like however money made dollars a year, or if you want to get it for way cheaper for a month, right like boom, that's a gateway drug that gets you part of that ecosystem working. It's working at both ways for both parties in ways that are going to lift this thing to success and yeah. I think this has potential to be the next rookie league in that sense like I played some of the. The Beta over the weekend, and it is an absolute blast. One thing about it is I. Don't know like for me as a singular player. I don't know how much I don't know how how long I'm GONNA. Play this game like Rocky League I. Think had replay ability and I think that's the thing that works so well for that game. Is that like there's something about rock league? That makes you just want to play that game forever. Rotate, there's a competitive more like the one on one aspect or whatever it is, but it is very. It's more sports like whereas fog is is a bit more just pure fun. Yeah like. Party yeah, it is it is? It is a party game I think with that I. Don't know how how much legs it has like months and years down the line like I don't think he's going to have the Rocky League tail, but I think in the moment. This game is GonNa blow up so large because it is fun I. Get Very Fun

Five hundred and continued to expect the Tesla will exceed guidance of five hundred thousand vehicles delivered this year. All this being said nothing that we talked about for the fifteen minutes. Really Matters. We already learned the good information yesterday when he said that they would be close to break. Even if that does apply to profitability, we already know Tesla had a great quarter whether they deliver eighty thousand vehicles or a hundred and five thousand vehicles. They had a great quarter. Quarter in the midst of global pandemic, and this shows the potential for Tesla in the second half of the year, and beyond that's what's important. The long-term term outlook the quarters provide support for that outlook, and we already have that support from that deal the last point I wanna make on. This is when Tesla does release quarterly delivery and production numbers in the past at times they have included other detailed information in that release while that has been happening less frequently recently, it wouldn't be unprecedented for Tesla to include some other information, perhaps something like reaffirming guidance which they put on, hold the last quarterly update. At least it's worth considering so ebbing said if you appreciate this analysis, I do put so. So much work into this and I think it's pretty valuable, though I should probably wait until we actually get the numbers to say that, but I provide all this to everybody for free ends. The only reason I'm able to do that as the support that I receive on Patriots Sophie do find this valuable, and you want to help me continue with that sort of model at really appreciate it if you would check out that page at Patriot dot com slash Tesla, daily podcast, and the link for that is in the show notes. That will wrap it up today, though as always thank you for listening. Don't forget to subscribe and sign up for notifications and I'll see you next time. Thank you..

Getting Credit for Your Housekeeping Effort

"Thanks for joining me today. This podcast number two forty and I think I'm going to call it getting credit for your housekeeping housekeeping effort those who understand my struggles those of you who don't just listen as wow now. I understand other people but instead that are like Oh yeah that's me Already know what that title means. So anyway I'll go into it here in just a minute before I do. I want to make sure that you listen to last week's episode with Rhonda. I really love these strategy sessions that I've been doing with my Some of my people from who are patrons through Patriot dot com slash. Assad comes clean And the end we we just got to talk through some things and I've heard from several people who were like. Yes I also live in the country and understand how easy it is to Just kind of spread your stuff jeff out on land. You know that kind of thing and so I love it because it brings in other people's unique situations and we kind of get talked through what might work mark what to try in those situations so go back and listen to that one too but you don't have to stop. Now go ahead and listen to this one and then go back later if you missed it. Okay this is what made me think about about this subject. So I I have an adult child now. I've mentioned that I'm sure I have It happened over Christmas. I say it happened but you know he just had a birthday but they. It's not like I didn't know it was coming for the last eighteen years anyway. So we're we're in this kind of interesting phase of life right now where he's getting ready to launch if that's what you want to call call it Often to his own life here soon anyway. He is a senior in high school and it didn't really make a huge difference in the fall because of football but now that football is over he has early release. So that's pretty common. I know it's an a lot of different different places. A lot of people I know. Have Seniors and up. They've finished their credits or the majority of them and they don't they have some free periods and so they could to leave school early if if they get that done as part of their schedule so he leaves school at. I think it's to fifteen usually gets home around two twenty five and it didn't make as much of a difference during football all because he basically would come home. Be Home Work on homework for thirty minutes and head right back for football practice but Now I'm just going to be honest to totally cramps my style uh-huh and here's why okay so I've talked before about my routine of how I handle things and how I get work done and stuff like that. Well I basically basically you know I my kids off to school and then I work work work work work work and I work best in the morning. I'm a morning person and so I I work and that's when I have brain power and energy and you know especially like working on this book right now that I'm working on I you know I go to the library for as long as I can handle it. you know which opens at ten sometimes tended to or whatever and by the time to thirty like comes around usually. I'm done like that's kind of my if I'm going to give yourself permission to chill out for a little bit before I kind of get going on and the on different stuff other things. It usually is right around two thirty. I mean like between two and three. That's Kinda my okay. I'm GonNa take a little break here. I will often put off eating lunch until then and then I'll be like okay. I'm going to read a book while I ate my lunch or I'm going to Watch a show or whatever will on Monday I guess it was no it was yesterday. I don't even know whatever one day this week. 'CAUSE y'all don't care which day it was. I mean I have been going literally nonstop like I had just been to the library. I had written two eight thousand words. That was my goal for the day. Might even Trent Twenty five hundred. Anyway I was zapped like zapped. I had left the library and I was like okay. Hey I am going to. I think it was about one forty five when I left so I'm GonNa go home. I'm going to eat that leftover soup so I'm gonNA feel like I am having a great. You know decently healthy lunch and I am going to watch a show and I was like really looking forward to it so I get home and end. I get all that together so by the time I sat down it was about two o'clock and I watched a show and it was the second one you know. It was a thirty minute show and I was like. I'm just GonNa Watch one more because you know what I'm exhausted. I did really good work today. I'm going to do this. And he walks it now. Granted I had changed back into my pajamas like I was. Oh that's embarrassing but I'm just you know why not be honest with you guys anyway. So I changed back into my pajamas. I come home I had been an real close like the entire day to that point so come on. It's a lot to ask a writer anyway so I come home and because 'cause I was finally home I changed into my pajamas and I'm sitting on the couch watching a show and eating. My lunch might decently healthy lunch. And he walked in and he goes this and this is a sweet kid you guys. He's one of the sweetest of the kids living in my house. I'm just saying and he goes. He Goes Oh take the day off today and I was so offended. Look I was like you know and I went. This is why he cramps my style to come home at this exact hour of the day. I'm like I can work and I can work and I can work but if he comes home and that's when I'M LAYING DOWN IN HIS MIND I've been laying down the whole entire day. You know or I have been sitting there watching. TV The whole entire day because that's the only awareness that he has of my time anyway so I was very it. Did it hurt my feelings and I did kind of you know. Say No explains things but I also get it. I mean like I'm not mad because I get it. I get that you only are aware of what you sec- okay and it made me start thinking about how that is one of the huge frustrations for a lot of us in our homes. You know I mean you know I wasn't. I was writing yesterday. I wasn't even necessarily working on the kitchen or anything like that. But that's our frustration is like I want credit for this stuff that I have done a specially in the beginning when it all feels so completely unnatural and you. Who are you know trying to make a dent in not having done what you needed to do? So it's that much more overwhelming. Both in how much there there is to do. Because you're digging out from maybe you know never having had a dishes routine and you're just getting started or whatever but also you know just really pushing passed all of those mental hang-ups that you have against doing it this way and really. Do I really have to do the dishes. Everything that I buy. Whatever all all those things make it such this huge looming thing like I have done something major and we want credit for it all right? Let's take a moment to talk about one of this episode's sponsors better help. Some of the stuff we're talking about today. Ultimately comes down to relationships and expectations and the stress can be greatly increased when there's stress in those

Growing Your Business Through Podcasting with Matt Medeiros

"Hey everybody and welcome to another episode of how I built at the podcast that asks. How did you build that today? My guest is a good friend of mine and a repeat offender here on the how I built. podcast Matt Medeiros. He is now a sales over at Paisley. He is still the host of the Matt Report and he is the host of a relatively new podcast called we are here over South Coast FM Matt. How're you Joe? It's always a pleasure to grease the airwaves with you. Your former Co host of we are former CO hosts in a different life. Yes yeah absolutely back before you were a Paisley you're doing. Was it a weekly or biweekly. Show up whenever I was whatever. Halftime called plugged within radio on DOT COM Fantastic well I'm glad to be back on the airwaves with you sportswise allies life is drastically different. You guys have one year. Your Red Sox won a world series since we last were on the show together. The giants are terrible. But the Yankees just picked up Garrett Cole for an obscene amount of money. I'm excited about twenty twenty. I'm still crying over the patriots loss from last Sunday. So that's I was. I was at the Eagles game As we record this. The Eagles played the giants on Monday. And I was at that game and the for I wish the game ended after the first first half many others. But that's not what we're here to talk about. We're here to talk about Uh specifically kind of building your brand and your reach through podcasting which meant I feel like you've done Exceptionally well especially in the general kind of wordpress base base where we operate a lot so maybe we can start off a little bit With who you are and what you're doing these days. Yeah so I do in the work precipice anyway. My report DOT coms honest where I do all of my Open Thinking for better for worse on a podcast and blog over there but doing it now for going on eight years and was really thinking back to Just a lot of the stuff that I've done both video and audio in the wordpress base I've you know I've never counted the episodes. What's but it's probably somewhere north of five hundred audio episodes and Maybe five hundred issue videos all about wordpress crescent more recently as an reason as last year started a local podcast for local entrepreneurship. I'm about an hour south of Boston. It's called the south coast of Massachusetts and You know doing sort of the same thing highlighting entrepreneurs in my south coast region. And it's a totally different animal. Like comparing you yeah. Traditional Internet podcast versus local podcasts. But we can maybe chat about that stuff today and of course selling over at Patriot dot com. Yeah that's so I I definitely do. WanNa talk about that because Well first of all for the Matt report you pump out like I feel like tons of really really good content like especially your. Your videos are really thoughtful. Feel like you're good at that How do you come up with that content is it just like whatever? Are you just like such a good thinker and then you record those thoughts are or do you have like a list of content cover so this is my biggest challenge and it's one of the challenges. I am really trying to focus on on. Twenty twenty is to actually have a content calendar in have a process in have a purpose the purpose for the last seven years. Joe Has just been to talk out loud to meet people to have conversations and for when I say better for worse. There's some things I say that people don't agree with that they don't liken it sort of affects me and then there's things that people attached to latch onto you but I do this simply well on the wordpress site in the business side. I do it because I simply love wordpress and I simply love building businesses in seeing things form out of nothing and my whole you like you said I create a ton of content. I create the audio stuff. I do video. Oh stuff for my report which is like critical thinking pieces and then I do to`real still on the plugin touch channel which are more just like yours. How you use something in wordpress and these all all of these things come up as they just pop into my head and I just do them the south coast 'em podcast? I'm being amusing. That as a a sort of my my lab experiment to map things out and for that show I actually do have things mapped out because I have such limited time time that if I didn't have a plan for that show would never get to it like I would never get things done and actually using it in finding new processes Aziz over there and say you know what I'm going to apply what I've learned doing that stuff over there which is like one on one level stuff to bring it to the Mayor Report in twenty twenty just to give give myself some kind of runway some kind of breathing room.

The Allure of Extra Space & The Challenge of New Schedules

"Am talking to. I think it's Rhonda. It's been about a month since we recorded. This and I think I thought it was RENOVA. And then she told me is remanded but now I'm worried that I thought it was romance and she told me as Nanda so you're gonNA find that out in the pike. I guess I could go listen right anyway. but You're gonNA find that out when I do a little bit on. The podcast comes on but I I enjoyed talking to her so much. I mean I have had so much fun talking to kindred spirits because it's like Oh yeah we're kindred android spirits so we get each other and it's just nice knowing that we're all each other's people so Anyway the things that are unique for her situation are that she has had a major job change and with that came a major lifestyle change so she went from Three hours of commuting every day cashew working from home but then does doing a lot of traveling and so that was interesting. We talked through. Just I mean that's a huge. That's a huge thing as you start to get a few things under control and then life changes then you have to get those things back under control in your new situation. So we talked through that she's also got adult adult children living at home One lives at full home full time and one who is in school and then comes back occasionally and stuff so we talked about that kind of thing I I another thing for her is They have a lot of land and so the outdoor decluttering. You know it's like oh well. They're really is space for this. And this and this so that can be a real challenge. Sometimes I know well sometimes I know for me personally I lived. It's a lot of years thinking by the next place where I live. If it had this much space then I would have no issues with clutter and yet that's just just not how it works right the more space you get it presents. N. dot com slash a slob comes clean all one word And you can find out that and also have a link to it in the show notes. Okay enjoy this conversation with Renata Rhonda Iran data. Hi thanks for coming on the PODCAST and being willing to talk about all of your issues with the world. Thank you for your help. So you're willing to go by your real name Rene Window which is really pretty name. Where did that come from? Thank you my parents actually made it up. My Mom always said I knew you'd be a little different so I'll give you named her with it and here we are. I love it I love. That's so you filled out your form that we had in the kindred spirits group and so I know a little bit about you but I want you to tell everybody else. Can you tell me your unique life situation. Okay Well one of the unique part is I live in a remote rural town and I live in in the country outside of that town so for us to get anywhere. It's you know an hour to get to any urban area and Also living out in the country means I. I don't have neighbors so it's a blessing and a curse because I don't have the pressure of people just stopping by But it's also destination place so people come out you kind of have to let them in your house and go to the bathroom and all that kind of stuff and I'm married for twenty one years. Today's actually our anniversary. So thank you and we have to adults blitz and so we have a twenty year old and she lives at home on the weekends and works out of town on weekdays and then we have eighteen year old. Who's going to community college college so back and forth everyday so young adults just getting started still under your care basically would you say or yes? Yes under my care but now not under my control. Oh my word I think you just gave me a panic because I have the eighteen year old. WHO's get to be done really soon with school so okay but as long as you still pay for everything you you'll have some of that control tree true? Yes okay. So let's get into tell me some of the things that have been successful for you. So far like what strategies have had the biggest impact on your home. Well I go back and forth on being able to implement and not it just depends on my schedule. A lot to I was in a very stressful schedule where I was commuting muting a total of a little over three hours a day not home too late at night and so it was like every excuse in the book to have routines and that has changed and now I work from home and that's a whole new set of learning but after we got some. I'm kinda starting from scratch but I have had really good seasons where I have made sure that the dishes were done before I went to bed every day and then something would happen like I broke my foot and then that didn't happen again and it took us a year to get back in that routine So I think that's the number one major helper. That is the game changer. In meeting produce anything else and I go through seasons of being able to declutter kind of regularly. And then all the sudden dodge okay. You had mentioned that the dishes done before you go to bed does have a huge impact. When you're in that routine? Yes yes so like tell me what what kind of difference it makes. It makes a difference in the first of all if I want to cook anything. I don't have to clean the kitchen first so therefore we eat better food and we eat you know food and because we all have popcorn for dinner sometimes right. I'm not alone. You shouldn't do that. The best enters And then just the feeling of having that done relieves the burden. That would hold me back from doing other things because I'd say why can't go work on this because I have have to do the dishes so it just. I don't know it creates clean slate for the day right right. So tell me about the container concept how that has impacted your home It it is a rule that I can comprehend and a started. Just see it differently like my husband and I both are very optimistic and so it would be a lot of accumulation. It'll projects and what if since some days and accumulate accumulate accumulate until realizing. Oh I don't need to buy another cupboard because I have covered container and so if it doesn't fit in there have to make a decision versus not ever having to hold myself accountable to make a decision on what stays in what goes and now impacted my buying because I'm not. I know that I'm only going to go for projects that are current day or I'm going to say no because I have something else already in place but I WANNA do. I'm getting better outside to. We have a hobby farm which means we have a lot of animals and learning the container concept for them to like baby. Goats are amazing but You can really only have so many in one area you know so. We're not going to add more baby goats or pack or whatever and so oh totally yeah totally so it's helped me create limits and I also applied it in my mind. My schedule of. How much can I reasonably ugly? Take on and put in a day because are thinking that you're gonNa work from home and getting a lot done isn't actually practical. There's only so much you can accomplish in the time that you

What's one of the biggest problems that we can see right now and abuse recognizing or naming it? Here's what he had to say I think it's important to start with Saying this I think one of the biggest problems that we have is The abusive person is often trying to dictate tape whether what they do is abusive or not And I think that's a problem because they don't get to decide that you know if somebody hurts me emotionally. They don't get to decide if that was hurtful or not. That's for me to decide and I think that that is one of the things that we lack is that a lot of people will do or say things and say well. I don't think that was abusive at all. So get over it and the reality is is not up to them and I often correlated with Racism I I've I've heard and seen very racist things Towards me towards others and a lot of times I'll hear the well I wasn't meant to be racist so I don't think is a problem like you know what what it's not up to you to decide that especially chilly if your Demographic has historically been the abusive one. You don't you don't get to decide that because you're moral. Compasses already compromised demise. So who gets to the termine abuse and.

'Borderlands 3' voice actor turned down role because Gearbox ‘wouldn’t go union’

"One on the report why Troy Baker isn't in borderlands three this is Kirk Kirk mckean over vg twenty four seven. If you remember we're of course do this whole Brouhaha for months. Now Randy Pitchford was asked on twitter. Hey is going to be reese. Randy said no troy turned down in Troy. I didn't turn it down. You guys said No. There's been back and forth. It's been ugly here's Kirk at VGA twenty four seven. We recently got a chance to talk to Baker during a fan event for wrestler replay. Let's play series the actor host alongside the other Troy Baker Nolan north. I love that during our chat he was openly disappointed that he didn't get a chance to play reese again in Borderlands Orlands three quote so they came to me and they were like do you want to do this. Baker explained which I said absolutely and then they made it impossible for me to do the role. It had nothing to do with money money. It had nothing to do. It had nothing to do with money. It had nothing to do with money. They just simply would not go about doing it the way that we needed to be done so then it it was like I never said no gosh I I worry Detroit. No he was talking to a reporter. It sounds like he's had a retro replay thing with Guinness just sitting there talking we we asked Baker to clarify what he meant by this scheduling conflicts or something else quote no it was simply a matter that they wouldn't go union. He replied and I can't do a non union union GIG without getting too deep into the weeds of that we had long conversations about this. We always knew going into it that this was going to be the thing they're gonNa take these characters and put them from put them from the tales from the series from telltale into Borland's proper. I've been waiting for this call. They were like do you want to do this and I said yes. They never they never because they would never move from that position. I'm not mad is invariably a complicated different. I'm sorry it's invariably a completely different different character but it's still sings stings fuck. It's hard to read quotes that are like just talking yeah. When it's a prepared quote we all go this garbage quote or a written word in general but when Choi's they're they're doubling up sentences over jabbing now the fun little kind of funny thing that we can do that but I want? I was going to bring in Chad's question because I think there's interesting. relation dossier Chad wrote in to Patriot dot com slash Kinda Funny Games says morning folks with the reveal this morning that Baker as a sack after member couldn't minute reprise his role of reese in Borland's three because gearbox wouldn't go union. Do you think this is something we'll see more of. Do you think this now becoming such a high profile story will before the hands of publishers to allow voice actors to unionize. I also wonder how often this happens. Considering it took one of if not the most popular voice actors sorry known to to make a headline that said I love the solitary solidarity intrigue continues to demonstrate that he is one of the kindest humans lot also. Let Your Voice Actors Union is Randy what the fuck cheers so yes. I already know where you're going with. This is an interesting story. If you all remember we hear kind of funny didn't animated series called kind of funny the animated series in episode one principal Christopher Walken it was played by Donna Troy Baker and the idea of course is that that'd be reoccurring character throughout throughout the entire run of the animated series well on top of that he was going to play two characters. He was gonNA play the principal. He was also gonNA play Troy who was like the Guy Oh I do. Remember who was a character in the show that just doesn't ever have voice yeah and the reason he doesn't have a voice is he's a Wendy's boyfriend. I remember that yeah I'd beef with Troy and we we we did a he pulled favor. I totally which is a gal do fucking voice view. He ended up getting kind of in trouble for it. It was more of a slap on the wrist. If you can't be doing that Shit so dr like hey we want to do the whole like series a kind of social. Whatever the hell it was at that point we had to go through his people and he didn't want to be that way he was he's like dude? I want to do this. Let's make it work but us us especially back then be the people we were. We got maybe two steps into that process and we're oh man it's complicated and it's going to require not too much money but the way that the money had to go was too complicated for what we were set up for gearbox they can handle that shape this and nothing that's of course the argument to be made here right is that kind of funny in the spare bedroom at the kitchen table and nick riding on these scripts was not the same as gearbox however there's a lot of different stuff going on here. Remember that when the David eddings lawsuit stuff was happening right and he was saying he that when he got replaced as claptrap this is a similar thing right that he left left in some he he worked at gearbox did the voice of claptrap and didn't get paid extra because of it. That's not the payment thing. I don't know anything about that other than what eddings has talked about publicly but that's still seems to be the case with how they do the voices in general right after the troy thing happened. I wondered if it was this based on what had happened with us. We obviously we had never had that kind of sag work a conversation before because we never did something like that before so it'd been so much time between borderlands two boroughs three I wondered after this happened with Troy was a union thing and then on top of that. I wonder how that would affect one actually burch who of course tiny team in the game is in the game. It is actually on the economy com slash wrong if I'm wrong about that doing tiny Tina's voice like I was wondering how she got around it because that's the other thing within the union ship makes everything so complicated. No longer on unions do a lot of great. I'm good. I'm not saying they're bad but I know like when I go and do the Lego Games because I'm not union. I have to do Taft Hartley Agreement. That's something weird like I. There's like paperwork on top of paperwork that is like we're bringing this person in because he s voice because of x y and Z yeah and so you know it's this weird thing of also talking to an extent here but for a long time not forever a longtime telltale didn't use SAG after voice actors obviously towards the end the change we're talking about in the borderland right here troy's in that obviously laurabeets in that all that but I remember and I'd have to go look at it now. There's there's something different about the credits where if you look through the credits of a telltale game where they use both union and non union they get credited in different ways interesting. There's so many intricate streak. I can't even talk to complications to use voice sag person or a a union voice actress nonunion voice actor that I I do wonder what this means for. How gearbox does it? You know I think chat ask in general I don't think so because I don't think this is something that happens often in many ways we've talked about. I think it is automatic. I'd imagine this happening all the time. I mean if it happened to us. I'm sure it's happening all over the place that you just don't hear about it because most people don't have podcast that years later the randomly telling the story sure you know but I think were going just different uh-huh directions with this one I'm saying I wonder how much this happens in terms of AAA Games. That's what I'm

Threats Mars Colonizers Will Face In Outer Space

"Today, we will be discussing what things can psychologically and physically harmed, astronauts when they go to Mars, and if you find this topic interesting make sure to hit the subscribe button. So you get new stuff every single day. Thank you everybody. Who's been listening to the podcast and also to our patriot patrons patriot dot com slash space. News podcast, you can help support future podcasts. Also become a space kit at for as little as one dollar per month. And I just soft launch space news pod dot com. It's a place where you can find new ways to listen to the podcast ways to communicate with the hit me up on Twitter, Facebook, etc. So if you're gonna chance go to space news, pod dot com and check it out. So human beings are going to go to the red planet. Eventually, it's just a given. We're gonna get there and before. Before we get there. We have to figure out the things that are going to harm us and one of those things is our body temperature and our body temperature can rise and lower depending on what kind of environment we're in. Now, if we go to Mars it's really stark compared to what it's like earth like unearth. It's weakened handle low temperatures in what we think are high temperatures of around one hundred hundred twenty degrees. Then you're in a court temperature starts going up. It's normal ninety eight point six ish, and then you're fine. But after that if you go higher than that, you could die of heat exposure. And if you go lower you could die from being to cold in Mars, the equator is eighty to one hundred degrees below zero that's in the summer. Okay. So Subir eighty to one hundred degrees below zero and during the day, sometimes it can be sixty five to seventy degrees Fahrenheit. So that's not too bad. And that's why humans will always have to be in some sort of protective thing, whether it's a pod that they're traveling in or whether it's a settlement on Mars itself, or in a space suit that can handle these kinda temperatures in if we have these structures in place while that could take care of the next thing, which is a lack of oxygen. There's very little oxygen on Mars and Mars atmosphere is highly toxic. It's carbon dioxide in nitrogen mix of those two. So we'll need a survival system spacesuit or like I was saying before in a structure that we could be in at all times. We can't really be outside of something like that. With you know, like if you go to the beach can square flip flops shorts in your fine. You can't do that on Mars. So anything we do on the actual surplus of Mars will have to be in a suit. But of course, you can take the suit off when you're inside of the colony in win year on Mars, there's microgravity this a little bit of gravity. You know? It's one third of verse gravity and micro gravity bone loss. Occurs leading to ask DO Perot SIS as well. As loss of muscle mass, strengthen endurance body fluids are affected, and it could change your cardiovascular system because of this and any sort of prolonged exposure to weightlessness increases risk associated with bone, demeanor location, lowered blood volume and also immuno deficiency. So there's health risks not only on the surface of Mars, but also inside your own body when you get there. So there's going to have to be ways for us. To figure out how to neutralize these before we actually send astronauts to Mars in the famous twin study done by Massa recently on the I s will greatly help our chances to survive on the red planet. And then we have radiation solar radiation in space, and on extraterrestrial worlds is kind of crazy, especially if they don't have magnetic fields and radiation sickness is on long term effect of offer travel, and we really not found ineffective solution to stop radiation from penetrating into the human body when you're out in space. There's numerous theories of how we do this. And some of them are really weird and wacky one of them in particular that I that I find funny is using human waste that you have in the bathroom in U Penn. The walls of the actual space station the spacecraft that you're flying tomorrow. Then just to make sure that there's an extra layer of something between the U and the. Radiation. That's going to try to kill you on your way to Mars. And it sounds disgusting. And it kind of is. But if it's going to help you survive on your way to Mars, I think, I would probably do it. I mean, where would the waste go. Anyway, you might as well use it right in the flight tomorrow is going to be really long. It's about seven months travel time in you're not gonna be a spacious beautiful space station. Like you see in the SCI fi movies. You're going to be stuck at a tin can something like crew dragon. That's going to the SS. It's about the size of sept- for some people. So something like that could be living heb module. But there could be things attached to it, of course, depending on how we send people there. So right now, we have a few solutions something a little bit bigger than crew dragon something with basically like living canister on the back of it. And then that gets jettisoned down. To the service of Mars them. When you get there. There's actually a living area when you get to the red planet, but think about this for a second as you're traveling the Mars, you can't get out if you ever been on a long car trip, when you you know, you have to take a bathroom break or you just want to stretch your legs, and you can just pull over to the side of the road or stop at a rest, stop, and you can get out of the car, and you can walk around or walk your dog or do whatever you wanna do while on the way to Mars. You cannot physically do that. You're stuck in a canister until you get to Mars seven months in this one spot. We don't really know the psychology of what's gonna happen. When people are stuck in that small of environment for that long time. And so far the longest day on a space station was four hundred thirty eight days, we didn't get a lot of research from that. Because it was you know, before we actually thought about going to Mars, and what we were actually going to compute. To need the resources to get to Mars so that data's kind of jumbled up, and we don't really have a lot of technology involved with the with the actual stay. So it can be done. Now. What happens when you spend that much time in a canister, you get to Mars, and then you stuck in another habitat with the same people that you went there with second due to your head. You know, what's the psychology of all of this? And we're not quite sure. So there's gonna be a few people that get to Mars, and then we're gonna have to study them in. We're going to have to see what actually happens to people than how to combat it. You know, because right now, we're just doing these studies the twin studies on the to figure out, you know, how biologically different people are when they're in space, and when they are on the ground, and psychologically, you know, we really haven't done a ton of tests with long duration spaceflight and also. Hesitation another planet. So it's not just the planet. It is not just space, and it's not just your body. But also your own mind is trying to fight against you for doing this. So if you can become all of that, you could go to Mars, and you can have a successful mission on Mars, and you can lead the human race into the next step

Switch port of persona five parentheses even best buy seemingly leaked us which version and parentheses. It is in fact, a moose oh style action game in the vein of dynasty warriors franchise. The game is called persona five scramble the phantom. Strikers in Alice is partnering with choline Tecmo and omega force Brian sees the dynasty warriors team for development. He slashes through waves of enemies in what seems like the metaverse of Shibuya, and you can see familiar Shimagami ten say demons persona slash personas like pixie and pyro Jack in the mix. The switch leak told you you flip flopped too soon. And to be fair you like yes, I did. But it was only for a day or two where I bought into the hype and stuff, but for the last couple of weeks, I've gone back to my doubtful ways of it's not happening. It's probably a fighting game. And then for them to come out with high rule or dynasty, warriors persona. No, I don't think anybody really expected. But this proves what I've been saying for the last couple of months is that a mainline persona title will never come to any console. That's not PlayStation because you're insane. If you don't think there's some deal between atlas and Sony. Well, Nick, Metzger writes in the patriot dot com slash kinda funny with a burning question with the announcement of persona five scramble if this sells well on switch.

The Psychology of Circles

"You can play along at home with our first story just draw a circle simple as that grab a piece of paper and something to write with and get to it this might sound weird. But you can actually learn quite a bit about someone's background from the way they draw circle. There's actual data and science behind this. So don't worry. We're not just talking about some pseudoscience handwriting analysis kind of thing. Okay. Did you draw your circle? Well, here are a couple of fun facts. If you're American there's an eighty six percent chance that you draw your circles counterclockwise. But for people living in Japan eighty percent of people draw their circles in the opposite direction. This data comes from November twenty sixteen when Google released in AI game called quick draw. It was kind of like the game pictionary you'd start to draw something and then Google's algorithm would try. Guess what you were drawing in twenty seconds or less courts. Use data from the game to look at one hundred nineteen thousand unique circles to see how different people draw them. They found that the direction that you dry. Your circle is quote linked to geography and cultural upbringing deep-rooted and hundreds of years of written language in significant in developmental psychology. And trends in education today, unquote, the clockwise and counterclockwise patterns, probably come down to language Japanese and Chinese writing follows a strict stroke order with characters drawn from the top left in the direction of the bottom. Right. A nineteen eighty-five study showed that most people living in China druthers circles clockwise, possibly because of the clockwise strokes in semi cursive, Chinese calligraphy stroke order is so important in these countries, it can even signal your level of education on the flip side Americans are taught to draw shapes counterclockwise to prep their motor movements for what's called magic see letter formation as in the curve in the letters C G Q and oh test this out on your friends. And see what happens weirdly, my initials are c g and I just drew a circle, and I started at the bottom and did it clockwise. That's so weird. I know. Well, I I can't do it now because I'm too aware. I hope everyone knew drew a circle drew a circle before. I started talking if you dislike being cold as much as we do. Then you come to the right podcast because we have some tips from the world of physiology to help you understand how your body stays warm in the wintertime, or you know, whenever it's cold as reported by exercise physiologist, John Eric Smith for the conversation. Your blood does a lot of things while it's coursing through your body. It's carrying nutrients and oxygen and other important stuff. And it also brings heat produced in your muscles to your skin where it gets released when it gets cold around you your body moves blood to your torso to keep your vital organs warm at the same time. Your body sends less blood flow to your skin that means less heat makes it to your skin. Celeste heat gets lost here environment. This helps you hang on to your internal heat longer. You know, how you shiver and your teeth chatter when you get really cold that's because bodies cranking up your muscle activity to help you stay warm that movement actually helps you break down more nutrients to crank. Up your internal heat. People lose heat at different rates, depending on their body size body fat and metabolic activity to smaller people with less body, fat lose more heat than larger people with more body. Fat more muscle. Mass means more heat gets produced and more body fat works as an insulator. So there's less heat loss. So let's get into how you can stay warm, obviously, warm clothing as helpful like, a hat and coat and gloves. But believe it or not it's a myth that most of your heat escapes through your head. Remember how I said your blood rushes to your torso to keep in vital organs worm? Well, that's why a coat will do you a lot more good than hat. If you had to pick one of the other, you'll keep your limbs warmer. If you keep your torso warm since that'll help, you keep a steady blood flow something else, they can help you. Stay warm is being physically active doing jumping jacks or running around makes your muscles contract, which breaks down more nutrients, which dinner is extra heat, but layers of clothing and physical activity can tip the balance past what you need to offset heat loss. If that happens. Get an increase in body temperature. And your body will start sweating to try to cool down, and that's bad. Because then you'll deal with more heat laws when your sweat evaporates one more thing that can help you stay warm though, eating your body. Temperature will go up when your body is busy breaking down food. That's why if you go camping you may want to have a snack before bed. So you stay warmer while you sleep hope that helps us they warm this winter or next winter if it's warm wherever you are right now, we'll wrap up today with a trick to keep you from choking under pressure choking is the thing. Researchers have actually studied for years they've found that we perform better the more. We have to gain. But only up to a certain point when we have too much to gain. We tend to mess up. Even if we're doing something we do every day. In other words, we choke. You might get sweaty palms or even feel nauseous, but choking is mostly a mental affliction the potential reward or loss of reward distracts you from the task at hand and your performance level drops choking shows up on brain scans as heightened activity in the ventral. Stratum that's the part of your brain where you analyze risk and reward. So November twenty eighteen a team of researchers from the California Institute of technology published a study on how to change your thinking to stop from choking. They gave participants hand eye coordination tests, which came with rewards ranging from zero to a hundred dollars for successfully completing the challenge in some cases, researchers asked participants to reimagined their situation or use what's called cognitive reappraisal strategy. The reward structure didn't change, but they were told to imagine the reward amount in cash already sitting in their pocket as they perform the task, basically, they imagined they already had that reward and participants choked substantially less when they used this reappraisal trick than when they thought of themselves as striving for a prize MRI scans also showed that reappraisal reduced the amount of activity in that risk and reward focused ventral stratum. It's not a perfect fix reappraisal didn't prevent all choking. But for an easy purely mental shift. It was a surprisingly. Effective antidote. So the next time you're trying for a major reward whether it's the World Series or a lifetime supply of chicken nuggets. Just imagine. It's already yours. You're not trying to prove you deserve. Beating Procrastination, Sand Science (w/ Vince Beiser)

"Today. You'll learn a trick for actually using your vacation days, even when you're super busy and the science behind white darkness is actually faster than the speed of light will also learn about the hidden science of sand in a clip from the most popular interview eve done in the last year. Let's satisfy some curiosity in you manage to get away from the office this summer because it's healthy to take a vacation from work. Don't feel like you missed your chance though, because we've got some advice from a time management. Coach might help you use up those days and stay sane at work. I like it. Yes. I feel like I need to take this advice. I feel like you do too. Ashley not that. I don't like seeing you around the office. In two thousand seventeen fifty two percent of American workers with paid vacation days left, some of them unused that added up to a whopping seven hundred and five million unused vacation days overall or two million years, which is about how long it's been since humans appeared on earth and working too much has been linked with heart problems, mental health issues and a decrease in work quality in general. But a recent study by glass door found that worries about job security are the main reasons people don't take vacations, so what can you do in an article for Harvard Business Review business owner and time management? Coach. Elizabeth grace Saunders advocates something that's brilliant in its simplicity micro vacations. That's when you get out of the office, but you use a day or less vacation time. And even just one day comes with a lot of benefits you won't have to find a replacement to handle your work, you won't come back to a mountain of emails, and you can do a micro vacation once every couple of weeks. Nobody said you can only go on one big vacation every year. Year you might want to avoid taking a Monday micro vacations since a lot of people send important emails on Mondays. And you don't wanna come back to his billions messages in your inbox. But how does the three day weekends out? Take off a Friday once in a while. And another big thing is that micro vacations can be free. You don't have to spend time making a vacation itinerary or spend money on plane tickets if your job allows it you could even take a half day to take a long lunch with a friend or catch a met navy movie. You've been wanting to see whatever you do. Don't lose your vacation days. You need a vacation. Trust us. The best employees is take the most vacation days. That's true. You keep saying that to be. I don't understand why. Oh, I'm not gonna say anything. Sinned is one of the most important materials in human civilization and were running out of it. If you don't believe me, that's okay. We've got an expert who might be able to convince you we recently had the chance to talk to Vince buys her author of the world in a grain the story of sand. And how it transformed civilization? Here's what he told us. So we consume more sand than any other natural resource in the world except for water and air. That's how important it is. I mean, I say in the book, it's the literal foundation of modern civilization. And that's that's no exaggeration. Because as you say, it's I mean, you toss off concrete and glass, but really if you stop and think about concrete and glass, that's basically what our cities are completely made of every shopping mall apartment block every building in the modern world that gets built is made out of concrete, and that's an enormous amount. So we use about all in. We are using about fifty billion tons. Of sand every year that's about that's enough to cover the entire state of California about two inches deep every single year. That's quite a bit. That's quite a bit. I've got a giant world map on my wall imbed room and right in the middle. So you know, what's there? It's africa. And right in the northern part Africa. There's a big old desert. So how can there be a shortage? If the Sahara exists that's a really good question. The answer is because that desert sand is basically useless to us, and the reason for that is it the greens or the wrong shape. So desert sand has been eroded by wind over thousands or millions of years tumbling, and tumbling and tumbling and tumbling and that has made those grains, kind of rounded as opposed to the kind of sand that you find in river beds or lake beds. Flood plains even the bottom of the ocean. That sand tends to be more more angular. It's got a lot more angles and corners to it. So it locks together the way the. You needed to form a stable structure? So the thing that we use San by far the most thing that we stand for the most is concrete and to make concrete you need those same greens to lock together and desert sand just is to round to do that. It's like the difference between trying to build something out of a stack of marbles as opposed to building something out of a stack of little tiny bricks, so all that desert sand, totally useless. He's nudie curiosity. You might not know that when we first launched our podcast a weekly show where we interviewed scientists and authors from around the world will back by popular demand. Eight one to no it's faster than the speed of light the speed of dark. No, really. It's a thing. That's how fun little physics lesson. And we'll preface this by saying, please don't get mad at us. We promise it's true. Even if it's kind of hard to wrap your head around. Yes. This is the second time we run this article. And we got a lot of emails about it before. And I have done my due diligence. This is absolutely for. Sure. True. All right. Here's how it works. Even though nothing can move faster than the speed of light shadows can still move faster than the speed of light a mentioned, you have a light that's powerful enough to reach the planet Jupiter. Okay. Got that. Now, imagine that it casts to be mccone that's broad enough to cover the entire diameter of the planet. When you pass your finger over that light, the shadow will cross the entire diameter of the planet. That's a distance of more than eighty six thousand miles. The speed of light is one hundred eighty six thousand miles per second. So if it takes less than half a second to move your hand that distance. Then that shadow will have broken the speed of light. Remember how he said that nothing can move faster than the speed of light. Well, that's the key shadows are nothing. A shadow is a not thing shadows are the absence of something specifically photons or particles of light since there's nothing that's actually traveling the distance thing that's moving is an area. Where photons aren't there's no information that's being transmitted faster than light only a blockage or lack of information. That means you're interplanetary shadow puppet. Show doesn't break any physical was which means we're right? And we hope you're not upset with us for this brain teaser. But we promise it's true another way to think about it is that the shadow only has the illusion of moving is actually the region that has light and has no light that is changing. Right. So it's not physically moving across the planet. Right. It just looks like it is right. You love this article. But you kind of hate it too. Oh, yeah. The love hate relationship.

We tell our actually the truth in his little as forty five minutes. It's makes me kind of paranoia not gonna lie where am I lying? You might be. No, you're definitely not. I am also paranoid about this. Are you? Yes. Well, Cody, this this banter is really engaging or is it it's definitely not. Or is it for this study out of Brandeis university? Researchers used electro encephalopathy or EEG to monitor the brain activity of younger and older adults while they answered questionnaires now in this study, the older participants was -nificant we more likely than the younger ones to accept the lie. They had told less than an hour earlier as the truth and by older group. I mean, the group was aged sixty to ninety two and the. A younger group was aged eighteen to twenty four according to the researchers the findings suggest that telling a falsehood scrambles older people's memory, so they have a harder time remembering what really happened in effect giving greater credence to the lie. This is a relatively small study with forty two participants on half of the questions on the questionnaire. They were given they were told by the researchers to lie and forty five minutes later, the respondents answered the same questionnaire. But we're told the answer all the questions. Truthfully. The central research question was did the lice stick and the data revealed that lying engaged the brain processes responsible for working memory, this finding suggests ally can embed itself in memory and come to feel Israel as the truth lying creates a new memory for something that didn't happen. So if you catch somebody in ally than remember, the person may actually think the lie happened, if it's not the first time, they've told it, I think the main takeaway from today's episode is that researchers need to study whether dogs can tell whether you're lying while watching a meteor shower, right?

To familiar words than they did two unknown words, interestingly, the dogs brains reacted differently than human brains, their brain activity spiked when they heard unfamiliar words, whereas human brain activity spikes, when we hear familiar words, we're not sure why dogs react differently to the unfamiliar or how deep their understanding of our words goes, but this study at least suggests that our speech is more than background chatter.

The people at the are NBA and ours couldn't deal with the pop side and the people on the pop side were confused as well. And quote, this is crazy because according to my brain, Lenny Kravitz has been famous forever, but industry pressure on artists of color can be very real Santa gold who has another John rebuffing black artist encountered this problem too. And she still talks about how a lot of her music. That is not hip. Hop gets categorized as hip hop. Anyway.
