That being, I understand the whole elbow thing and off season. I don't know if you guys forgot about that, but that was an issue. And we saw some balls lacking velocity early in the year. And I don't know if it was because he was on a pitch count or maybe he wasn't ready. I don't know. I mean, they're making a lot of money. They're secure and. They're not thinking about being the greatest all time. They know that this game should end this is something that's going to change your family's trajectory. And if that's enough for you, then that's enough for you. I mean, watching emotionally watching him walk away, guys are starting to walk away a lot early. The guys are starting to say, okay, that's it for me. I'm fine. "Would coordinate it with a game, so it felt like I was kind of doing something. So I'll tell you from personal experience sometimes the game is a shield to your own kind of antisocial behavior. And that's the thing you gotta dig a little bit deeper on. But I would tell you it's a bad, bad habit to get into. I wish I didn't do it, but the job has gone okay. So I guess I could justify it. I mean, I was at a wedding once, girlfriend, pretty serious, and I left and went to the reception bar before the reception started and watched the final four and had like ten cores lights with the bartenders. Actually doesn't sound bad to me. It sounds bad that you left something, but I had a fucking black one of the best weddings I've ever been to, but of course like typical me, I befriended the bartenders, didn't dance once. And there was a game on or not. I don't see you out there on the dance floor either way. No, it's about a hundred cores light shy of that. But you know, I had a blast and then by the time, you know, she came over and was like, do you know the other part of the reception was over there? And at that point, I was like, I kind of want to go out tonight, you know? So we did a popping at the reception and then we went out and the rest is history. So yeah, I know for a fact that girls definitely don't like that and as a guy who doesn't talk about sports for a living. I can't convince her that I do. The first when I first met her, was like, I'm going to have to see these. I'm going to have to watch these football games. But now she knows. But basically, you're going to have to come up with your teams, and that's going to have to be enough for you when you have good girls around. It's got to be your teams that matter. It's got to be a couple games a week. It can't be all the games all the time. I agree with you. A couple things. One, can you just pull out his phone? Like, I don't know why. Yeah, get the stuff. Yeah, get YouTube TV or whatever sling, whatever thing you have, and you can just kind of watch it on the go if it's a close game, then you can keep tabs on it and if not, then you don't even have to watch it. So then you don't really have to make a move anywhere. Get into radio, maybe sports radio. You're a fucking Secret Service. Just toggle between all the games. Sketchy as hell. But I remember my freshman year of college, I did not. I skipped out on the entire spring weekend to watch the 2007 NFL Draft. And that was three days. And at the time, I was like, oh, I'm awesome. This is sick. I'm super into this. And I look back like few years later, I'm just like, that was the dumbest thing I missed out on all this fucking cool shit there in the day. There's like free drinks, blow up tents everywhere, free t-shirts are being hanged out. I'm sitting there watching like Patrick Willis get drafted by the forty-niners. And I was like, that's a low for me. So I think, you know, pick and choose your spots, that's probably not it. If you don't have to watch like round three while you're out at the bar and NFL Draft or like a Knicks game or if they're down 20, pick and choose your spots. And I think the other thing too is sometimes maybe the excuses are worse, like if you're like, hey I have to go home because I'm like too drunk and you keep saying that over and over again. People are gonna be like this guy's kind of a disaster. And if you just say, hey, I want to watch this game. I don't think anybody's gonna judge you as much as the former. Yeah, I actually found that part of it kind of fascinating that you're rounding up how drunk you are to get out of something when you're actually not that trunk so you can go watch a game that you admittedly have no rooting interest in. Because your buddies must be like, man, you can never tell what he's drawn. He really holds it together. He knows when it dip, you know? He just bounced all the time. So we're not going to give you excuses. We're not going to tell you, hey, do this to keep getting away with it. We're going to tell you to start prioritizing it a little bit better because your rights are ready. I have, and I can sit there and say, well, wait, there was something going on because it was your career. So all three of us have more of a justification for doing it. But there are so many times where I felt like, oh no, I have to do this or I have to do that. You know, there's a couple of weddings that I wish I had gone to. And I did not go. "Let's compare the third years. Because that's where fred warner is played. fred warner. Last year had one hundred. Twenty five tackles two interceptions one sack if you go. Further into the things he had five tackles for a loss and seven quarterback which i think those are pretty important stats. Don't necessarily show up when you just look at the box score. Most of the time patrick willis had one hundred fifty two tackles so he had twenty seven tackles he had three interceptions so more interceptions he had four sacks more sex but also thirteen tackles for a loss and eleven quarterback hits thirteen tackles for loss as a linebacker. That's more than double what fred warner has. And i'm not trying. Put down fred warner. Because he's like. I said he's the best linebacker in the league. But stop with comparison to patrick willis. He is not patrick willis and it's unlikely he's ever going to achieve that level because there might only be two three. Maybe if you stretch it four linebackers in the history of the league that have achieved. The level patrick willis achieved. I agree. I like we have a weird thing. Now where if you're not the greatest in your position in the league or the greatest team straight like you're not great at all and that's just not the case but just to give people some perspective here. Fred warner made the all pro team last year. It was his first. All pro team. Patrick willis was the first team all pro in five of his first six seasons including his rookie year as a twenty two year. Old kid like no fred. Warner is not at. The level of patrick willis. And that's okay. That's during ray lewis rain to. He was first team all pro wall. Ray lewis is pretty much guaranteed a first-team team all pro spot like they don't says it all right there. He had an interesting article about fred warner now that he has this deal. I'm just gonna read this from. Ao co this suggests the forty niners expect warner to continue to build his game. They expect him to fill in the gaps and provide more contributions in areas where the forty niners might be lacking he goes on to mention sacks he goes on to mention tackles for loss. And like you've been saying levin like there is another level of performance that fred warner can get to. That doesn't mean he's not really good now but he can get better. Do you think it's fair for mayo. Co and for fans to say to fred warner. We need more from you. We don't want five years of just where you are right now. You're the highest paid linebacker in the league. You gotta give even more than that. You had me until the in there. I don't think it's fair to say we don't want five years what you have been. Because five years of what he was last year everybody would sign up for that. I don't think that's quite fair to say but to say that. This deal indicates the niners think that he can continue to get even better and achieve a even higher level. I think that's one hundred percent fair. I don't think they would have gone five years or i don't think that they would have built the contract like i talked about earlier in the episode. I don't think they would have given themselves at three. You're out if they were one hundred percent satisfied that he's achieved all he. Could you know what i mean. I think they've built it in a way to where if doesn't get to that higher level they can look to see where they're at and maybe use that out even though. I think it's extremely extremely unlikely. There's a reason they put it in there but yet that speaks to what we're saying there's another level he can achieve. And that would be the level. Patrick willis played out for like five years to start it. I do think like you said that that this contract means that the floor for fred warner is what we saw last year. That's essentially what they're saying when you pay guys like this that has to be the case because it's it's the salary cap leak and so when you pay guys at the top of their position the mega-dollars they have to perform like studs like jerry. Jones always says it's okay to pay a premium as long as you get a premium in return. It's okay the niners have these high salary. Cap hits expensive dudes if they play like the elite players that they are paid to beat. So hopefully fred warner can keep it going. He's been one of the most durable forty niners since he's gotten their knock on wood or i was gonna say you'd better be gonna right now. Whatever i don't know whatever ritual wine need to do to keep him on the field he's been there consistently and this is a good day for forty nine dollars and forty niners fans don't tainted by trying to compare the patrick willis or knock fred warner down. He's not gonna always drop the coverage even though clearly that's his best thing so he's going to be in coverage a lot but you could see some games were. Fred warner is getting a bunch of sex. Yeah i know that that d'amico rhines blitzing more has been a big talking. Point this off season the forty niners blitz at the eighth most rate or the eighth highest rate in the league last year. So it's not like they weren't blitzing last year only seven teams blitz more than san francisco last year. So i don't know how much more d'amico ryan's can blitz. I just think that it's going to get noticed more this year. Especially if if guys like bosa are back there then you feel like it'll get noticed more and talked about more but it's not like robert sala wasn't blitzing last year but think saleh's blitzes were a little different than would make orion's we'll do technically if you send one guy that's a blitz solid never really sent the house in order to me. Great one is currently greet. That's a massive massive difference like derrick. Henry is currently the best runner of the football in the league is not the all time. Greatest runner of the football league. And nobody would say he's up there with the walter payton's and barry sanders in nfl history in terms of running the ball and that's the difference between these two and like the eyeball test should be enough because the eyeball test shows it to but if you weren't around because we do have some younger fans out there didn't really see patrick willis de top. You can even just look at the statistics. Patrick willis had one hundred. Seventy four combined tackles is rookie season. One hundred and seventy four fred. He's somebody had fifty five hundred career yards so going in the ring of honor when you had fifty five hundred career yards is pretty unique. I would bet that there's nobody in any other teams ring of honor or whatever they call it that had fewer yards in the modern era. Obviously people from way back in the day. Yeah they had less because teams weren't passing it as much but like that. That's not very many career yards. He has this. just say what. He gets in but the fact that they didn't win the super bowl might hold him back a little bit. But i think you can make a team hall of fame if you don't start with that team. I mean how steve young start with the forty niners so that's not an obstacle he didn't play a majority of his career with the niners. Like it's not like. He spent his rookie contract with one team and then came over and spend a decade with the niners. He spent six seven. Maybe eight years with the cincinnati bengals and then spend what like five. What the niners. Like no actually split seventy seven. He was here seven years. He came over in two thousand eight. You just don't remember. They didn't have. They didn't have the success he did. You know in twenty eleven twenty. Yada yada but yeah. I think he's an interesting case because he did make those multiple pro bowls and he was a i. I have no problem saying he was the best defensive lineman on those teams. He was much better than alden. Smith as great as all and smith was getting to the quarterback he got to the quarterback and large part because justin smith was taking onto people and beating them often. I'll never forget the justice. Smith sack. I believe it was of drew. Brees where he's literally just shoving the offensive lineman into the backfield and he grabs breeze with one hand. And just drags him down. Obviously if not cam newton it's drew brees is a smaller guy. But he's still fully engaged with the offensive and is dragging drew brees down. He was one of the strongest dudes. I've ever seen on a football field. If you look a country strong in a dictionary it had a picture just because you looked at his arms wasn't like he was you know chiseled or anything. He had a lot of bulk. Obviously but he was one of those guys that you know you look at it. And he's like that's a big dude and he's ridiculously strong and there are guys that have crazy ripped arms bigger arms than him and weren't nearly as strong as almost like larry allen larry allen is probably the strongest person who's ever played in the nfl. His strength is just ridiculous but you look at him go. Yeah he's a huge dude but like his arms even fat on them a little bit of extra skin there and yet he was the strongest dude. Ever so it's you know if you have extra skin on your arms you you're not a crazy lifting weights type of guy. But he was just naturally crazy. "They lost the game and can't the one thing I've said about Kansas City. When I was talking about the back and forth. The two teams is A zoo. You know, I felt that camp. I had the better defense that usually wins the Super Bowl. But I couldn't get past the fact that Kansas City was so explosive and they could score a lot of points in the short run, but there was never any point in that game. That they showed any sign that their offense is gonna do. Anything. I mean, you know, they felt last year they fell behind who jumped out on a 24 to nothing Was that Houston last year By Casey? Yeah. That was just, you know, a bunch of turnovers in all of this Kansas City never looked to me. Like they had the ability to compete. With the Tampa Bay defense and anybody who doesn't think Your offensive tackles. The 2nd and 3rd most important positions at a football team did not see what happened to Patrick Willis. Paul, I don't think I've ever seen a quarterback so often run 25 yards behind the line of scrimmage.
