"A nice to recollect that too today. Listen to this, hey, John Williams, I'm taking Olivia Newton-John's death harder than I would have imagined. I did not own her albums, and once she was out of the celebrity spotlight that shone so bright in the 70s and 80s, I can't say there was a reason for me to think much of her, but it is something about my age, maybe. I'm 55 and the memories of her music and utter beauty inside and out that is crushing me. I imagine it has to do with her holding not only a place in time of my life, but also an innocence. Being grade school age in the 1970s, my girlhood innocence is forever wrapped in that era and she had her own feminine innocence about her. Whatever a remarkable woman. Reminds us that we can be sweet and vulnerable and remarkably strong all in one. At the end of the movie, Greece, when she came out with the black leather, I thought, wow. I don't know what that has to do with what this nice person just said, but I do remember her sort of transitioning in the movie and then of course her musical career transition too from being the woman who sang the pop songs even country songs to something that was more physical. Olivia Newton-John was born in 1948 in Cambridge in the UK to brinley Newton John and Irene Helen. Her Jewish maternal grandfather was the Nobel Prize winning physicist max born. How do I not know that? I mean, mister quantum physics himself, you talk about stuff that led to the Manhattan Project and you'll see max born's name come up. That was her granddad. He fled with his wife and children to Britain from Nazi Germany, Newton John's father was an M 15 officer on the enigma project. It Bletchley park, who took Rudolf Hess into custody during World War II. That was her dad. The youngest of three children. In 1968, she was engaged to, but never married Bruce Welch? Four years later, 1972, Newton John ended her relationship with Welch, who subsequently attempted suicide. In 1973 the next year while vacationing on the French Riviera, Newton John met British businessman Lee Kramer, who became both her new boyfriend and manager. For several years, Newton, John called their turbulent pairing one long breakup. He died in 2017, she married her longtime live in boyfriend actor Matt le tanzi, in December of 1984, they divorced amicably in 1995, according to People magazine, people close to the couple said the disparity between her spiritual interests in his more earthly ones was a key factor in the dissolution. She then met gaffer and cameraman Patrick McDermott, year after her 1995 divorce, with Matt lattanzi, the couple dated, on and off for 9 years, McDermott disappeared, following a 2005 fishing trip off the California coast, Newton John, who was in Australia at the time of his disappearance was never a suspect, a U.S. coast guard investigation based on then available evidence and released in 2008 suggested that McDermott was lost at sea. With a friend telling investigators that he had appeared sad, though not despondent after their breakup, in April of 2010 a private investigator hired by an American television program claimed that McDermott was alive in Mexico and faked his death for a life insurance payout, but did not provide proof. She married John easterling, founder, and president of the Amazon herb company in June of 2008. So that's a little bit about Olivia Newton, John, but you don't tell that story about her or anyone unless you talk a little bit about Greece, which was first set at taft high school in Chicago and first performed in Chicago as well. My eyes are not the first to cry the first production of Reese was a Kingston mines. The theater in Chicago, my son's first apartment in the city was a stone's throw from there. He said, do you know about this Kingston minds thing? I mentioned that to bob sirot and bob goss as only rob seurat could and would. I was there. Chicago fire, yeah, I was there. Greece is a musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey named after the 1950s United States working class youth subculture known as greasers, as only Wikipedia would put it. The musical is set in 1959 at a fictional ride el high school based on William Howard Taft school in Chicago, and named after rock singer Bobby Rydell, and follows ten working class teenagers as they navigate the complexities of peer pressure politics, personal core values and love in its original production in Chicago, Greece was raunchy. It was a raw, aggressive vulgar show, subsequent production sanitized it. The show mentions social issues, such as teen pregnancy, peer pressure, gang violence, its themes include love, friendship, teenage rebellion, sexual exploration, and to some extent class consciousness and class conflict. Jacob's described the show's basic plot as a subversion of the common tropes of the 1950s, alpha male into a more sensitive and sympathetic character is instead drawn into the man's influence in transforms into his wild roguish fantasy. It was she that made that transition actually. He did too. They sort of met each other on the other end of the spectrum. Greece was the first Greece was first performed in 1971, and the original Kingston mines nightclub in Chicago. From there, it's been successful on stage and on screen, but the content has been diluted, and its teenage characters have become less Chicago centric. At the time that a closed in 1980, Greece's 3388 performance run was the longest yet in Broadway history. It was surpassed by a chorus line a few years later, still it remains Broadway 16th longest running show Greece was adapted in 1978 as a feature film, starring among others Olivia Newton-John. The show's original production was directed by guy, or bereal, BAR IE, choreographed by Ron a K and produced by the Kingston mines theater company founded by Judith sekac, on Chicago's Lincoln avenue, the script was based on Jim Jacobs experience

"Facebook page. So I read something about the late Olivia Newton-John that kind of blew my mind a little bit that I didn't know. Olivia Newton-John's father was a British spy who once interrogated Hitler's top deputy. Did you know that? No kidding. Oh my gosh, yes. And that for the for her whole life, she never really found a man who lived up to her dad according to this news article that I read. And the news article talked about her former boyfriend Patrick McDermott, and you'll remember this when I tell you, but everyone's forgotten about it. One night in 2005, Patrick McDermott, who had been dating Olivia Newton-John, got on a small boat in San Pedro, California to go on an overnight fishing trip. He was never seen again. They found his wallet and backpack on the boat, his car was abandoned at the Marina. He was bankrupt. He owned nothing except for an old car. He couldn't pay his child support to his ex-wife, and he just vanished. So a year earlier, he had appeared on television with Olivia Newton-John. He disappeared, they had kind of stopped dating at the time he disappeared. But when he vanished, there were all sorts of suspicions. No one else on the boat saw him follow overboard. No one saw him jump. The deck was so crowded, people would have heard a splash, right? That's what detectives said. So they did all these investigations and one of them claimed that he was living in Mexico under a fake name with a brand new girlfriend from Germany. And that was in a town in Mexico that's really popular with surfers called sayulita. And one person in the town said, everyone knew who he was, really, but nobody cared. Olivia Newton-John hired Gavin de Becker, who was the world famous celebrity bodyguard and security expert to investigate her boyfriend's disappearance. And listen to this, to Becker investigate it, came back to Olivia Newton-John and said, I think you should drop this. And she did. And there's the mystery right there. What did that mean? Because I was surprised. I was surprised when she passed, and I loved her. I thought she was wonderful. But I kept looking for the story about the missing boyfriend and it really wasn't in very many places. I couldn't find it at all. I mean, you're the first person I know that's come up with this story. What did the bodyguard mean when he said, I think you should drop this. In other words, he doesn't want to be with you or that's not him. What's the other choice? Because to Becker's never going to speak, he's completely discreet. He's never going to tell you why and Olivia Newton-John decided not to reveal it publicly. Gavin de Becker said, you should drop this and I advise you to not ask the public for help. And the whole case she abandoned her search for this boyfriend and let it go. In 2016, she was asking an interview about this guy and she said, it's human to wonder, but those are the things in life you have to accept and let go. I live on, but of course questions come up. I don't know, bob, I don't know why to Becker said, drop it. No one. I think that's true. I think the guys still alive. He didn't want to be a part of that. So tell me again before we ran out of time. Her father was an interrogator of Nazis. Her father was a British spy he worked for MI 5 and he famously interrogate he took Hitler's deputy for afternoon tea at a famous hotel in London. For an interrogation. That's all I know. I never knew that until I found it. Do you think he said, have you ever been mellow? Do you think he said or never been mellow? Was it never been mellow or ever? The Nazis had never been met. I don't think they were ever mellow. I'm sorry folks. I apologize, you know. What do you want to get physical? You can't help who you are. And bob, we honestly love you in spite of that. But you're the one that I want. Always, yeah. Hopelessly devoted to you, my man. All right, straight up. Comedian, Chris, this Stefano, everyone needs a laugh. "Patrick McDermott dot com and I don't think it's there anymore. And here's my obvious question, I think. Was there any life insurance payout? There's supposedly was, but I don't know. You know, I mean, you could probably look that up, but supposedly that was the deal. But the big thing with the big thing would be that he didn't pay off the child support. Now, if there was a life insurance pay out, theoretically, that child support would have been taken from it. So that's why I say I don't know. And then there was there was a book written about it and I think somebody Klein was his name or something. And this guy said, oh, no, he's in Puerto vallarta and he's living under his birth name, pat Kim and all that kind of stuff. And then the ex-wife tried to get the book not published and it was a soap opera. And so now, I think it was about ten years ago, woman's day, which is an Australian weekly magazine. That report, that reported that he was alive and some town in Mexico living with his new girlfriend. But here again, nothing substantiating it. And then in the independent, a year later and new idea, which was another weekly magazine in Australia. They claim that he's absolutely alive in Mexico and we have pictures to prove it will the pictures were totally inconclusive and CBC in Canada published a story about a man from Manitoba who identified himself and his wife as the people in the photo from the Australian tabloid. So in other words, yeah, they're showing around this tabloid, seeing it's him, but then the couple had actually was a were vacationing there. He said, no, it's us. And that had nothing to do with McDermott. So for all you and I know we could have put on a pair of swimming trunks, accidentally fell overboard. Nobody noticed these was lost at sea bye bye. Possible. Many people who do go overboard though show up. Not all, but many do. You know, I've mentioned before. My closest friend who does my open of the show in fact, Steven B Williams. He was murdered and his body was found fairly quickly floating off Catalina island. So, you know, yeah, you're that intro, you said he was learning. He was absolutely. Just horrible, horrible, horrible. It was a money murder. He trusted the wrong guy and the wrong guy murdered him for the $2 million that he stole. And that was the deal. And so a fisherman actually a couple days later saw the body floating and then he was identified. So yeah. So we stole 2 million from your friend and killed him. Is that correct? That's correct. Yeah. Yeah. And well, he killed him because he didn't want to be found out. It's been on television shows and all that. Steven B Williams was his name. So Stephen B Williams made his money doing a voice overs announcing actually that money and he did make money doing voice-over. And he was a discharged Steven B and the hawk were number one morning show in Denver for years and he was also in Honolulu for ten years. But no, he made the money because of the sale of his father's house who died near Newport Beach. And the friend was supposedly an investment guy who was going to help him with the money. And instead he helped himself to the money. So he killed your friend and took the money which even inherited. Yes, correct. From the sale of the house. Well, and not only not only that, but part of that money was a trust for Steven's sister, because Steven's father, Bailey, who was an interesting guy, Bailey was a military all the way, and he was the assistant to try and think of his name now. But the guy who was in charge of UFOs and stuff like that. But anyhow, it'll come to me. But so his dad thought that Stephen would be a better money handler than his sister, which turned out to be nothing but lies because his sister while she certainly was a few cans short of a 6 pack wouldn't have done what Stephen did. But anyway, so she wound up penniless and then she wound up dying. So Stephen trusted wrong guy who killed him and ran off with his inherent Stevenson heritage. Yes, correct. The lever catch him? Oh yes, he's in jail. I hope so. Yes, no, he's not getting out anytime soon. And no one was, oh, well, see, and this is the best part of that because, you know, cons are so full of themselves. And always believe that they're smarter than anybody else. So he disappears, and he winds up working for like I used car lot. I'm not making that up in Montana. And he's talking to one of his fellow salesmen about how he didn't like to go on the water, how his wife drowned in a boat or whatever, by the way, I should mention what he did with most of the money was he was rehabbing a boat that he wanted to take around the world. So anyway, he has this whole story about his wife's tragic death and all this. While the other salesman is a retired cop, and he starts looking it up and hears about the whole murder of Stephen in the disappearance and puts two and two together and realizes that the guy he's working with is a guy that's wanted for the murder. So he got he got found out that way. He shot his mouth off posting and that's the wrong person. Not boasting. I mean, no, he invented a story that had nothing to do with murdering anybody. He invented a story that his wife died and all this. It was just ridiculous. But the guy put it together. And that was it. So the carbon locked him up. Yeah, and there were trials. Oh yeah, I. Can't believe

"Then he disappeared following a fishing trip off the California coast. And at the time he disappeared, Olivia was in Australia. She was at her own retreat. The gay a retreat in spa. And so she was never a suspect in his disappearance because she was provably halfway around the world. But what was interesting is the upshot of this, a coast guard investigation based on available evidence suggested that he was lost at sea. And a friend said, well, he was sad about the breakup with living in a job, but he wasn't despondent. Well, okay, end of story, nobody cares. But in 2010, a private investigator was hired by network television program to find him. And so his report on the air was that McDermott was alive in Mexico and he faked his death for a life insurance payout. Now the only problem is he did not provide any proof and the television show didn't provide any truth. Just the statement that or confident that he faked his death. But no one knows, that's the story of that. No, then she got married in 2008 to John easterling, who she was married to until her death. And so that was the story. So you're talking about Patrick McDermott. But didn't he appear out of nowhere alive and well? No. Where you're getting that from was the television show that the reporter claimed he had seen him. I think so I'm in Mexico alive and well. But there was never any evidence that that was true. So he did disappear. Yes, and there are some people who think that he successfully fake the life insurance and he's living happily in Mexico, but no one knows that. But if you've got a big insurance payout, somehow there would be traceable to him to received it, right? No, no, he wouldn't receive it. His heirs would have received it and whoever. See, remember, if you have life insurance, you have to die for it to be collected and they do not pay insurance to dead people. Correct. Right, so the air is what get it, of course. Of course. So let's say you made a deal with somebody to say, hey, I'll fake my death. You collect the insurance and then, you know, you get it to me in whatever you want in pesos or sea turtles or anything. But there's no reason to know that's the case. At the time in 2010, everybody was talking about it. And that's why you're saying he showed up. Well, no, he didn't. This journalist claimed journalists. I use the word loosely. Claimed that he saw him, but there was never any proof. So nobody was ever found and no he didn't show up with a smile on his face. No. I get away with something. Right, exactly. I believe there were pictures, but they were the kind of pictures where it was not a slam dunk. By a long, long shot. You know, it wasn't conclusive evidence of anything. So for all you and I know he did disappear and there's no proof of his actual death or he's still alive and exactly. It's something maybe. Right. But regardless of that, Olivia Newton-John was never implicated because she was absolutely in Australia. This guy's name is McDermott. And he was here to her boyfriend so she used for a lot of years. I think like 9 years. And he was born in Seoul in South Korea and he was younger than her. I believe his father was American and his mother, Korean, I don't know. He was given up for adoption, so he was an adopted by an American family. So he actually wound up, I think, being raised, raised here. And he was married to somebody for a while, and they had a son. So then he had filed for bankruptcy and see, this is the interesting thing because that's where my eyebrows go up a little because there have been people who in order to avoid child support have faked their own death. And in this case, he received a court order to pay overdue child support, and next thing you know, he's disappeared. So that's why I think some people started to say, well, it probably was disappearance silver child support. Most of the people who do that, by the way, ultimately do get caught. But regardless, he and Olivia had been on and off for about 9 years. And he went out on a charter boat in San Pedro, which is a port north of Long Beach in Los Angeles. And he was on a fishing boat, not alone. It was one of those charters. So the boat was freedom, and it was supposed to be an overnight fishing trip, and he'd been a frequent client of this. And he booked the trip solo, but there were 22 other passengers, and there was crew. And there was no headcount on the boat when the passengers disembarked. So some of his personal belongings, including his car keys, his passport, his wallet, were found on the boat, and his car was found parked near the Marina where he left. But theoretically, if you want to play detective here, it's possible that he got on the boat around the time the other passengers were planted all his stuff there, then got off the boat, and somebody else picked him up in a way he goes. Well, who knows? Apparently, nobody noticed for about a week when he failed to show up at a family event. And so he was reported missing two weeks later, he disappeared allegedly on June 30th and his 2005. He was reported missing on July 11th and there was no real attention to this. The coast guard investigative service case was closed. A year later, September 15th, 2006, saying no evidence of criminal action, suicide accident or hoax. And then there was a safety investigation into the conduct of the boat, and that was closed, saying nothing, nothing here. And both investigations included, he was likely lost at sea, but they have absolutely no information on that. So it was America's most wanted that featured the case in Dateline NBC and the theory was, again, he disappeared to avoid the debts because he had filed a bankruptcy and the $8000 the oldest ex-wife for the child support. And there was a website for a while, find

"Yes that is give my baby a standing ovation. That was one of the records of Scotty requested and I was more than happy to play it and that was 1973 on cadet. Yes, it didn't chart. Well, most of the Dell stuff didn't, and most of it should have, and that's a shame. So yeah, I've got the tabloids for sure, but what was taking my attention away during the news that led me not to have Scotty's request ready is a vacuum cleaner company. All right, now I know these things shouldn't bother me, but I needed to get another one because of one of our locations needed one. And so John said, we'll just get the same one you've got. I said, all right. So I go online and I see not only can I get the same one. I've got, but it's on sale. Well, that's good. And I have it at three other locations and it works. Great. And I notice, oh, well, if you, if you agree to have your new product registered, they will give you your choice of a free toolkit. All right, well, you know, outboard tools are always nice for a vacuum cleaner. And so they had two choices of three tools each. And neither of them sounded that great, but I picked one of them and it turns out they're both out of stock. So I couldn't complete my purchase with my free toolkit, which as far as I'm concerned was a contract in that they said they would give me a toolkit in return for my action of allowing them to register my vacuum cleaner. All right, I know this is not really a big deal, but nonetheless. So I write to customer service, customer disservice, as I like to call it, to explain the problem. And they write back and say, sorry, we're out of the toolkits. You can have a pet tool. I don't want to pet tool. So I answer. And explain that, no, I didn't want to pet, who didn't need a pet tool. That wasn't even in any of the any of the two kits. So I explained what was there, and they wrote back and said, you can not have three toolkits. I don't want three toolkits. I want one toolkit, the three tools. And so it's gone from bad to worse. And I'm like a dog with a bone now. You know, at first I didn't really care about these damn tools. I don't know if I'd ever use them. But now it's like, it's the principle of the thing. So I realize I am not only wasting my own time, but worse yet, I am clearly conversing with people who, for which English is a tertiary language at best, and yeah, especially when they write saying you can only have one toolkit. That's all I want is one toolkit. Yeah. Equate toolkit with tool. And they have a very limited supply. And like I say, I'll never use these damn things, but I will, I will continue to fight. If you have if you have input for me, I'll take it. But I did want to say, what foreign country are you writing from? But I figured I won't get testy. And so it goes. But I guess this is very good news, because if I have time to do this, and clearly I didn't because I didn't have Scottie's request ready. But if I have time to do this, then things must be going swimmingly everywhere else. Not really, but it's been a wonderful distraction. We've got Mike and Mount Pleasant. How's it going, Mike? Okay, there was a strange scandal a few years ago surrounding Olivia Newton-John, a friend of hers, Asian guy, disappeared, and the police question her about it. Let me know if he's kidnapped, killed from the ocean, whatever. She didn't seem the least bit concerned, which the police found very puzzling. And the year or two later the same guy appears out of nowhere and I never got the details on it. Do you know anything about that? Well, you've got somewhat of a story, but you don't have it have it right. So yeah, here was the deal with her, her relationship history has been troubled in a lot of ways. But I'm trying to trying to parse this, not making it a husband and all that kind of stuff. But it was a relationship. It was on and off relationships. And so we should back up and say her, she was originally engaged to Bruce Welch. In fact, he's the one who wrote please mister please. And they broke up in 1972. He attempted suicide and okay, fine. So then while in 1973, while she was on the French Riviera, she met Lee Kramer, who became her new boyfriend and her manager, and they lived on and off until about 1979, and she broke up with him. Okay, he returned to England and married somebody else. Then she did get married. She married Matt let Nazi in December 1984. And in fact, they met while she was filming xanadu. They divorced 11 years later in 1995, and it was it was pretty amicable. And then she met a cameraman. Patrick McDermott. And this was a year after she and latangi divorced. And they dated on and off for 9 years, and

But she posted a picture of Linda Ronstadt, many riperton Helen Reddy and Olivia Newton-John, and said AJ, you have these stories about these four girls and I'm like, well, outside of Linda Ronstadt being a hot chick and the 70s and a lot of rock and rollers were after her when she hit the scene. I'm like, not really. I said, well, then I go, wait a minute. Olivia Newton-John has had a hell of a time the last 15 years or so. And I said, it'd be fun to talk about the kind of crazy shit that has happened in her life. And I mean crazy. I think it was like in 2005. Summer of 2005, Olivia and John still looking amazing. The Crazy Tale of Olivia Newton John's Missing Boyfriend
"I think it was like in 2005. Summer of 2005, Olivia and John still looking amazing. Is dating a guy named Patrick McDermott and maybe this maybe you forgot this story, but it's really intriguing. She's dating this guy's a cameraman. And he never gets off the boat. Olivia and John panics tells everybody about it, a search begins on the boat they find his passport. I think his keys, they found some personal items of his, but he's nowhere to be found. The coast guard looks into it and they go, look, he probably fell overboard and he's lost at sea. They searched a little bit, but you know, it was nighttime. It's like, you're not gonna find the guy. And he's pronounced missing. And it was a shattering thing and Olivia Newton-John. You can't imagine a guy wanting to get away from her. Maybe she's a crazy bitch. I don't know, but after years of mourning, the guy who was married to this other woman first, she reaches out to a living Newton John, and they become friends. This whole ordeal has gotten them close because that woman lost somebody, too. And now her and Olivia and John are very tight. And this woman apparently think she's running a memoir.
