Zack Wheeler, Philadelphia Phillies Stay Hot With 3-0 Shutout Of Nationals
"At number, Twelve Philadelphia Phillies I have them there now seventeen and fifteen on the year. They are two games over five hundred for the first time in a long time. That's exactly true. But it sure feels like it as affiliates fan but they're starting rotation the last two nights going against the The Washington nationals facing Patrick Corbin and Max Scherzer will zack wheeler dealer Aaron Nola when sixteen scoreless innings or fifteen scoreless innings. I think it is. It is just a man. It is fun to watch those two guys at the top the bottom end of the rotation trying to figure things out that Geffen was good arrietta bad Spencer Howard starting to put it together but they made multiple editions in the bullpen. Their entire bullpen has overturned from the worst bullpen in. Baseball, they added four guys via the trade and then you get two guys won via call once coming back from the COVID nineteen list who hasn't played all year. So they're going to have six new guys available in that bullpen, and then a couple of holdovers from last year, and you're going to see upwards of eight guys who weren't getting the baseball for this team in the bullpen in the month of August who now will be in September and they could potentially make a run because if you get those top two again in that rotation, best five, you're getting three starts from wheeler and Nola Yeah I mean I'm I'm looking forward to that I certainly am
Big East Cancels Non-Conference Games For Fall Sports
"Will be different in Georgetown and non existent Howard this year, the Big East, announcing that fall sports will only play conference games in 2020 and the MEAC has cancelled all fall sports Baseball. The Nationals Post one of the better starting rotations in the majors, and the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Last night when Stephen Strasbourg pitched the interest Squad game, Max Scherzer, Patrick Corbin and Anibal Sanchez got together in a socially distant wayto watch. Manager Davey Martinez. Those guys, they're all pretty close, you know, starting pitchers, so every time Strasbourg Max throws our orbit, essentially, those guys are going to sit up there and watch each other pitch. They like it. They washed. They learn and they teach. You know if they see something one guy's doing that they can help they talk. They talk amongst each other. And try to make themselves better.

"Starter. Jared sad if you give me a chance. Maybe you'll love me doubtful but give them a doubtful for sure below below fifty fifty but even the athletics gave Chavez a sixty six million dollar contract again. That was over six years but that will help the sea and the thing about that six years. Sixty six million dollars like come on. You're just putting it out in the universe That's not a final thoughts. Thoughts final thoughts. I think This weekend I'm going to try and do some coding to get Blake's now up in here you go. Yeah my final. It's really good to see the younger players or this generation. Allah Blake Snell and some other guys. Start to be a little more vocal about what's going on in the state of the game and the things that come up in the game and it is a little disappointing to see some of the players that came before me. I mean that really don't know back up the brethren backup the fraternity That's that's frankly that's shit and it and it sucks and I. I hate to think that my opinion would change of these guys. But it's just It's it's left a shitty taste in my mouth. Justin there's some snicker doodle cookies. That are think I'm a name on it. Okay all right have yourself a little fucking little Thursday. Why don't you how do you how do a little? How do you do? Save one for Wilbur and Orville. Soon K how?.

"Know if you want me to try something else. He said No. I got it on the first couple of. Let's go again. It's like one of my first films. I'm thinking I don't know what I'm doing right or wrong here but is going with the flow of you went with the flow. I saw it recently playing around late at night on cable cable right. Oh my God I look like I'm twelve years old. Yeah I mean I. You've been in some amazing films. William you have been in some amazing movies he's How did you prepare? You just mentioned Black Hawk down before. How did you prepare for that film? But that was that was Jerry Bruckheimer films. So Oh you know Jerry Bruckheimer You GotTa think that the US military loves Jerry Bruckheimer making films like top gun armageddon and so did he gets he gets dod approval. I'm sure the Department of Defense. And so what they did wa on Blackhawk Tom. The the twenty four like twenty two a year old. The played rangers. They went to Fort Benning Georgia. Which is where the ranger school is and they got to go to classrooms and they showed him all this stuff me Eric Bana Nikolai Waldo? From game of Thrones Kim. Coates wasn't with us. We went to Fort Bragg in North Carolina Fayetteville and it was like I. I like it too like fantasy baseball camps. Were you going. You play with like the pros and you get that experience we we got there. I don't know if I could say I am saying this. They took us out on the field and they said this is a grenade launcher And there's some the trees over here so go ahead launch it and and then we had a day that we would like debt cord where they put it on doors now. These guys were with us. These guys are special service guys just. They were training us for the film but they were really giving us the full experience and it was amazing mazing and you know what came out of that was not only such a respect for these guys and and you know part of the reason that they really jumped in. There is because a lot of guys that were lost in Samaya came out of there out of out of the out of Fort Bragg and Special Forces School and all of those guys during that week kept looking at us and saying get it right and by the time we left there. What all the love and support they gave us? You know it was in our hearts and minds that we wanted to get it right William Fichtner here on the rich Eisen show Joe. What about perfect storm did you spend a considerable amount of time in New England for that one or on a boat or on a ship? Or what have you. We spent a little bit of time on.

"With purchase at therapy on DOT COM name. A movie this man's probably been in it to be very honest with you quiz. Show he contact Armageddon Perfect Storm Black Hawk down crash the longest yard remake just to name a few he's on mom currently on CBS. He is also the director and Co writer and one of the stars the film Colebrook in theaters on demand and digital. That's Today William Fichtner here on the rich Eisen show good to see you sir. Go to see it to. Let's get we'll get your moving and we'll get your movies shirt but let's get to your buffalo bills. Just talk about it. Because you are a diehard bills fan from where you from originally whereas a born on Long Island Mitchel Field Air Air Force facebook. At two months old. My mother said to my father. We are moving back to my hometown of Buffalo. Okay so it's it's all buffalo. It's all buffalo. I learn. Learn how to drive in the parking lot of the stadium when they were building. Come on now. That's where they were the driving instructor for all the kids. Take your driver's Ed right to the parking lot. That's when they were building the stadium latium. We were watching the two sides. Go Up and that's where I learned how to drive. So it's it's it's kind of like in a way maybe learning. I'm driving obstacle course because I mentioned it. Somebody tried a body slam through a table developed over time. Not Not while you were learning how you have enough beef on wicks in bats and you're on tables. What can I tell you? Have you done the parking lots. Yes I have okay. I went to I still tell the story Early nineties just when the bills were actually pretty good because they were they I went to a playoff game. I think it was the jets. I know it was freezing freezing outside and I remember where I parked in two parking lot to get in. I passed to pigs on Spitz. And we're talking January where it's like sub zero two right just in the way that I want. It's incredibly festive. I mean that is one way to describe the buffalo bills parking lot seen before a game We we've been there on occasion for the NFL network over the last fifteen sixteen years end of the fan base is beyond over the moon about their team and this year in particular. It just feels like Josh Allens the right guy. Do you feel that way or have you gone there yet. I absolutely feel that weight and in with that said You know there's still a learning curve you know I. I feel like the bills of yet this year to have four unbelievable quarters but they're winning games having two two and a half bright but I'm looking forward to that game when it's four quarters and a lot of it you know is is a learning curve and you know I mean look at Josh's stats ads. I think he's the best you know. Completion percentage I think in the NFL in the fourth quarter but we got to the fourth quarter and be in the game and he Saturday few come from behind already this year in the fourth quarter. So I I am a believer but the thing that I'm waiting for this to my son this morning just this morning. You know what I really want. I want that three hundred fifty yard game for Josh. 'cause it hasn't come yet and when it happens I think I think it will just like free him right. He he did did finally break that stretch right. That where they're non three hundred yard games. He did have one where Kelly was in the building and Jim loves them to do you know like he feels like he's he's he I don't I don't want to. I'll just go. There doesn't seem like there's a trend Edwards here situation right like you're not having a false belief that this kid actually is the real deal. Well what if if he's not doing it in the air and he sees an opening. I mean that's the one thing that nobody talked about Josh when he was coming there if he takes off nobody you're right and the truth about it is when he takes off. I remember a couple of plays last year and I'm sure the coaching staff. Every time he takes off for like. Oh don't please don't run Rut. I've seen linebackers go after him. And they don't catch him He you know he kim motor and he's a big guy. But this year you'll notice that he'll slide while at least William Fichtner here on on the rich Eisen show at least You Know Brady. Eighty wasn't in the league at when you worked with Affleck on Armageddon Right. I mean because known but he was he talking about New England at the time or your buffalo guy or people in new. The England talk about New England a lot. I true story. Nineteen Ninety eight and I'm working on this film might've been two thousand two thousand on his phone call. What's the worst that could happen when I was shooting in Boston with Danny Devito and all the all the teamsters guys around Iran it and and great guys and we talk every day sports and they just couldn't stop talking about the Yankees? This is before Boston went on a sweet. Little run in the two thousand s couldn't stop talking about sports. Radio can't stop talking about the Yankees one day. I looked at all these guys and I said I hate to tell you this but what they're not really talking about you guys. They're not it's really it's really a youth thing I you know twenty honey you seven right whatever. It was at the time but Boston's Boston's great sports size. Bottom line bottom line. You know there's been and they've been spiking the football the ball and more than just all sports you know. He's a Boston guy over there. I'm not looking over did you. Did you marry. Did I hear you married into a Boston sports. You could say eh into that. I did I married in Worcester and it's all patriots so so on the weekends you know there's there's too too nice. TV's in the House and was nicer than the other. So I look at my seventeen year old son on Mike L.. Let's have a democratic vote. It's Kimmy you're going downstairs. It was just voted for that. Because you want dinner tonight. I'm going upstairs William Fichtner here on the rich Eisen show. Well you know That's summating that. You're you're diehard Buffalo. So who's your guy growing up. Who's your fan growing? Who is your player? Wise was your guy. I Love Steve Tasker. Esker I just I just you know I mean I loved everything about that team and Bruce Smith and and when I was really younger you know what I mean. That was back in Jack Kemp days. You're when Dera Air Lamonica was the backup at at the Rock Briley and I remember going to Games there with my dad. And and but you know is it developed a lecture Ferguson. Listen Joe Cribs over the years nice but tad there was something about tasker that you know arguably maybe the smallest guy on the field and every time I know special teams half half those kickoffs. He'd get the tackle. He was amazing. He just fly through people over people I just thought wow I just WanNa do things in life. Like Steve Tasker scare plays football. You know a lot of people have mentioned that if if they do finally put just a pure special teams player not a kicker but the guy who we just towels or returns that he'd be a hall of Famer Steve Tasker no doubt about it no doubt about it. He was unbelievable. Okay I love it So let's talk about All your film Colebrook before we go down a little bit memory lane with your filmography you wrote it. You Co wrote it and you direct it. Tell people what it's about essentially and why. Oh you decided to make this film. The whole thing really began for Kobuk in two thousand and one I spent five months in Rabat Morocco. Working on Black Hawk down and I met it to him all time. Best Friends on that film. It's not like you don't meet great people along the way but this particular film in Morocco. Together Eric Bana. Kim Coates the three of us buddies for life Came back to La Coats lives. You know half an hour T- ten minutes from where I live and I went to another good friend of mine came in divorce and I said you know what I got an idea for a story. But it's something I want to write to do with Kim as well really all began there and then started putting this this story together about two two guys. In a small town I set it in Cortlandt New York south of Syracuse. Your two ordinary guys that have this extraordinary very experience and alternately are faced with this decision of how far do you go to help a stranger. I wanted I wanted to story with the head meaning to it and And and a journey of two guys in you know how do you find your best self and out of that came. You know. It didn't start off this way but something that was. I had a lot of historical significance of of how the story developed. But you know it really developed just in in the process and all of a sudden five or six years after working on it we looked at each other and said I think we got a story that we could show some people try to raise some money and thirteen years ago. So I've been looking for this day today. No kidding yeah today would be the day that it would see the light of day because the truth about it is which you know just to make Geico film even if it works for an income. There's no guarantee you're ever going to get to a movie screen Some mighty grateful. Well congratulations on that. I mean we've a how long it takes for something to get made to put it all together exactly and I'm GonNa as you said earlier. I worked on the show. Mom Yep so. We do the live shows on Friday tonight. I told my wife it's playing here in L. A. at the Lumley playhouse Pasadena. I said you're going to go with all our friends. 'cause I'm getting on a red eye and I don't take is is and I'm going to buffalo this weekend. I'm going to introduce that film. Kim Coates is already there. I told him I said I'm going to buffalo goes. Oh you're going to have a great time. I said no no no. It's so are you so you're going to day before me so you can go talk to people. I'm GonNa meet him tomorrow. He's picking me up at the airport and we're going to introduce the film all weekend back in your hometown hometown right back where it all began. Fortunately the bills are in Cleveland. This weekend people are GonNa come and see the movie. That's why I'm going to go and see the movie Sunday afternoon after. No you should check it out. Colebrook again theaters on demand and digital today. It's been a long time coming. For William fichtner okay. Let's get into some of these films. wh- I could just feel when you're in heat on in that film and Deniro tells you that it isn't a dead man in the end of the line. Yeah Do you even just hearing that or or knowing that. ditz Deniro delivering that line. Actually have a a sense of fear. William does inactive enact. Well you know what I remember. I remember that when we did that part of the seniors. I was in New York. And they said we're going to call you about three o'clock in the morning and and the phone will ring. Stay off the phone us it. Don't worry about it's three o'clock in the morning. The phone is GonNa ring. It's Deniro and we're going to record the scene So of course I'd get it and Deniro's dead on the other end that is lying and I'm and I'm sitting there thinking it's one of my first movies amy. It's then you're it's telling me I'm going to die. I'm fine with that. I think I said to him on a phone in between takes. How you doing Mr Rome? Yeah good okay. All right and Michael Man. How many times did he make it? I don't know if you've if you're mentioning that because of some other thing you heard yes but I remember it was first day of photography So you get a seven. Am Call. You figure you'RE GONNA go till seven eight o'clock at night and they go the the next day. I air photography. Three o'clock in the morning come on day one. I'm standing there. I walked over to Michael Man Semester. Man He will call me Michael Awesome. Michael is there anything else you wanted to try. And he said no why I said 'cause 'cause we're on take twenty six and I D- know if you want me to try something else. He said No. I got it on the first couple of. Let's go again. It's like one of my first films. I'm thinking I don't know what I'm doing right or wrong here but is going with the flow of you went with the flow. I saw it recently playing around late at night.

E. R. over then not shed their change it the only chance Washington had a beating Houston was to make quick work of the Astros and they had it on the table and they have absolutely choked give them a long time like run over because no matter what they have to win at least one game in Houston I now that means they're going to have to take three of the potential for games and usually just as your if not all four depending on if they do even hysterical second time and that's the other part to do this they're gonna have to either beat both Gerrit Cole and Justin Berliner again which one of the odd the team to beat those guys twice in one series or go to a game seven in Houston at the Jack break you seems to run locked everything figured it out without one of their aces on the hill this series will be over in six of Max Scherzer doesn't basically throw shot out on Sunday night and it might be over in six anyway because this game could go ten ten innings one nothing if Gary Cole was absolutely on his game I remember he could get out there within that bad to we play plenty of the National League but this is a disaster for the

A look at all 16 possible World Series matchups
"Allow with us right now is is EMMA LB Major League baseball analyst insider extraordinaire the great one himself the one and only Kirk Chin who will be in attendance for tonight's Oakland a's Tampa Bay rays one game divisional playoff game. What's going on man? How are you how's everything I'm great Stephen? Even a I'm at a playoff game. It's a winner. Take all situation on October the second this is pretty good stuff. You really really liked this one game stuff don't you. You really liked him. Well what I think it does Stephen Obviously it brings a game seven half. Let's fear to the beginning of October that that game last night was a really good game but it was even better because the poor brewers had to go home after losing and granted. It's really unfair that one of these teams tonight both worked on ninety five or more games going to have to go home after one but it does bring increased integrity to the regular killer season. It makes those hundred sixty two games so important so you don't have to play in this game but the fact that the loser goes home home makes it. It has a level even high. I gotTA admit him. I'm very shocked by that position that you take because you are one of the most fair minded people I've ever known on and to go to a hundred and sixty two game season and it to come down told one game. It's it almost seems grew. It really does well. It is cruel stephen a but this is a cool sport and I was not in favor of this but here is the option if we were gonNA play a best best of three. Let's say and you are the New York Yankees. Let's say you want your division and you get to host the next round and we have ties leading into the wild card situation and then you play best of three it's possible the Yankees can win a hundred and ten game name say in a season and then take eight days off before they play a playoff game. That isn't fair you need to you need to really welcome the teams teams that won their division and put them in the best possible spot but if you make them wait a week before they get to play. I don't think that's fair. Wow Turkey right here with steven a radio. ESPN news fair enough. That game was something special last night at least the last couple of innings of soda to to to to Gino's keynote hit it to right field identify Grisham to commit that era. I gotTa tell you it was great to see how electric atmosphere was. How much did baseball Paul need particularly when we have just heard reports come down to how attendance drop but so like a six year low or something like that right well baseball can use all the health can get right now? It's still for me at least the greatest game and yet things are starting to slip a little bit and big game like that starting out like that in a city. That's like the biggest game the nationals of one well biggest game. A team in Washington is one baseball nineteen thirty three for goodness sake. That's what made it so good. That's why that celebration was so good and I'll crom tonight. Stephen Ain't no matter what happens this is gonna be a great night for baseball 'cause weighty. Did you see the Oakland Coliseum tonight with fifty thousand people in your they don't have the most fans in the world but the fans they have our rate and they are loud and it should be a tremendous atmosphere so this is a great jump start to the postseason in baseball last night in Washington and no matter what happens tonight tonight tonight in Oakland who you have when you look at tonight's game just evaluate this this match up to me between the as and Tampa Bay talk to me about you know who's looking good in mismatch in what well I like both teams. I'm GONNA pick I like it matters. I'M GONNA pick the as because they're at home. I'M GONNA pick the as Ashok MNAYA WHO's four no with a one twenty-one year as it's coming off the list has been great. Their bullpen is pretty darn good and they can just ask Mash Stephen a more than any team in the history of the Oakland A.'s in the franchise so they can really pounded but they're going up against Charlie Morton who was one of the best pitchers in the game this year. I saw his last start against your Yankees Steven A. and he he threw six scoreless. Let's see was completely dominant and if you throws like that he's GonNa win tonight. That's how good he was so this is a toss up game. I'll just take the as 'cause they gotta pick. Somebody and I'll take 'cause they're at home. You brought up my Yankee so let's get right to it because you know that's what I really really care about. Tim Kirk Okay. I'm very concerned earn. I am not concerned about the Minnesota twins even donate three hundred and seven home runs this year. I just think they're allergic to prosperity whenever their face against the New York Yankees the Houston Houston Astros are an entirely different matter with Verlaine with Cole Whitt Cranky. I don't see anybody beating. These guys. Talk to me about my yankees prospects. The this postseason Tim Kirk well first off. Do not look pass the twins. Even though I'm with you I believe will win. This series do not look past the team that can swing it like that. Team can second I think the Astros are the best team not just in the American league but in both leagues and I'm not sure how any team to navigate through those friends for you guys in the rotation especially coal and Burland at the top and I'm also going to tell you it's even a there or is hope that the Yankees can win the world series that make you really happy a bunch of things have to happen of course after mash like they always do the bullpen has to be great great like it always has been but Luis Severino comes back and give them five dominant innings. Can we've seen him do and if James Paxton this good he's one ten starts in a row. If Tanaka can give them one really good start or a few really good starts I think they are good enough to win the world series with the team that they have now but I still have them as the third best team in baseball go in behind the Astros and the dodge transitioned to the Los Los Angeles dodgers. They've got to face these Washington nationals in the LDS. How do you see that matchup handicap that for me well? I liked the dodgers in that matchup with the understanding understanding that if Max Scherzer can return to being the great Max Scherzer which he has not been since he came off the injured list is not he wasn't that guy last night. He wasn't that Guy September. If he returns to the best he's ever been with him. In Strasbourg Patrick Corbin they can give the dodgers a really really hard time with with that starting rotation and that lineup is very potent these days. I just think the dodgers are more complete team. They hit the ball out of the Ballpark ballpark with anybody. Three stars in the rotation are really good. My key question with 'em is is their back end to the bullpen as good as it needs to be Kenley Kenley Jansen get the people out. He needs to get out if he can't. They're not going to win the world series. How wants faiths the dodgers fans having jetson? I know I don't have much. I like the guy personally early but I I I don't. I don't trust him. I don't trust them a big spots. I think he can be hit. Talk to me about him. For a second yeah his is down his cuddled. It doesn't have the same movement to better tad in the past and that gives fans of pause. They do have some other health back there there but I really thought they'd go get more help at the trade deadline and they didn't so they're gonNA hope starting pitching and power is going to carry them and they're hoping pinged Kenley Jansen his best but I seen him much much better than he's been this year. What should we make about the fact that you've got high payrolls dodgers Yankees you know old? I don't know the order in which is the highest payroll. You would know that at this particular juncture but I must ask you Tampa Bay is in the postseason obviously lowest payroll in major league baseball well. I do believe I know that I mean how do you explain the fact that teams like the as in the Tampa Bay rays notoriously alot payrolls manage to get this fall and sometimes further dentist with the highest payrolls talked about that for a quick second as a protest. Why baseball is so great even a is that Lebron doesn't touch it on every possession? Kevin Durant doesn't touch it on every possession it is so much more of a eighteen game in its own way because you could lose a superstar and still be really good you have to draft and develop properly like the as and the rays done you have to play the game in a better manner because you can't afford to make a mistake because you know either in free agency or trade because it could set that you back with a raise did they. They got Austin Meadows and tyler glass now in a deal for Chris Archer Saint the whole team now they've ninety games two years in a row they they are really good but they're really 'cause they play the game even a defense base running better than most teams do instead of just sitting back saying well. We're GONNA hit a three run at home this morning so we don't have to do all the other things so. Let's get all of this out of the way right. Now Tim Cook while you're here with me. Yankees twins you. Have you have one in that series. I've got the Yankees over the twin yes with the warning. I say it again. Don't underestimate a team that hit over three hundred homers with the as as you picked as over the race tonight which means there as will go up against Houston obviously you pick in Houston to win that series assuming it comes down to that and the LDS correct yeah yeah but no cakewalk they're not against the as but I have the astros advancing against the how formidable on the Atlanta braves not mean I mean I mean at least in these parts. We talked enough about them. How good is this Atlanta braves team well? If Ronald Kunia junior and Freddy Freeman are completely healthy and they they want to finish the season they are the biggest threat to the dodgers in the National League for me. They're lying is absolutely relentless and with some of the pitching moves they made young and Old Dallas Cycle and the upgrades in their bullpen. I like that team. I don't like it as much as I like the dodgers but they can beat the dodgers with the team. They have right now so the nationals brightest moment was last night because you don't see them beating the dodgers correct I don't because they're going to start on the road. They've already use sure they're they've already Strasbourg people. They can get them back in time. I just don't think they held it too. I was worried shows a look tied at the floor four. Oh five in his last night I mean fifteen and won his last pitch and fit then it was I think it was at seventy seven pitches and he looked absolutely gassed. What does that about yeah? He's he's he's been hurt for portions of the year and he's had a little trouble getting that rhythm back in September and now in October and he is so max effort for on every single pitch when everything isn't working properly even he can get in trouble because almost nobody's better than him.
Nationals ride wild eighth to beat Brewers, move on to face Dodgers
"Three the Washington nationals are coming to a life of the division series after an eighth inning rally lifted them to a four three come back when over the brewers in tonight's National League wild card game in DC game one of the and early Thursday evening start of five thirty seven PM a Dodger Stadium left hander Patrick Corbin will get the start for the dance against a Dodger pitcher yet to be announced in fact manager Dave Roberts has not revealed the starting pitchers for any of the series first three games but he's feeling good about the team's prospects this is nothing new to us the expectations from everyone hasn't changed from ourselves I mean I think that we expect more from ourselves in any and so individually and collectively so that mindset of we've already been there done that and I just continue to go out there and executed play good baseball that nothing change I think that certainly helps you know how we prepare the Dodgers are in the process of formulating their twenty five an active roster for the division series Roberts says Justin Turner and reliever Joe Kelly will be good to go as they recover from injury rookie sluggers Kevin locks and Matt Beattie will also make the

"Exactly what his role is spot in the lineup and the light because I do feel like his upside is pretty pretty decent this year. So the line of construction the Phillies lineup construction is another one where I I don't know what the orders going to be. And I might be a little bit more interested in a couple of players like Andrew mccutchen who they picked up based on where they're slotting him in the lineup. These aren't big swings. But they could mean around. Maybe I get a little bit more optimistic about a player like that. Let's see scrolling through some of my others. The coaches clearly going to bad third in the line of writing between Bryce Harper. Manny machado. So he's going to put up monster numbers. And that's my boy pass prime you joke. I'm I wouldn't be shocked. I I would not be shocked, and if it did happen. That's great for him. You know, by the way, people stop whining about all this. I mean, Twitter's cesspool anyway, but what's up whining about what taking so long, you know, in real life. We take a long time. Sometimes look for jobs to find jobs if Harper signs in the first week of March, so be it. It doesn't have to be in January. I understand it's holding things up for other people like AJ Pollock. But that's not his concern about getting the most money or as agent is about getting the most money, Hugh magin if we go to like, the NFL and AL labor drafts in Arizona and Harper Machado on sign you could mean like actually bidding on a player in the AL only not knowing if that player is going to play in the American League. Yeah. That's see that's gonna have a profound impact on the only leagues. And what you rule set is for that. I mean, you can buy those players and labor. But then you lose them outright, you have to immediately cut them at they signed on the other league, and they would fetch pretty hefty bids. I don't think we're going to be waiting until March to see them sign. I could see them signing right around the point that the camps open though. I. There've been a obviously a lot of players have signed. Let's go like brief one word answers here, Paul Goldschmidt. You haven't been number twenty with the cardinals that ballpark related is that Goldschmidt related lineup. Like, it seems like he last year was a top ten pick. Now, he's not what changed. Performance especially against fastballs was down a little bit last year and the trade change nothing for me. Patrick Corbin with the nationals. Now, you haven't as a top twenty starting pitcher. I agree with that like more or less out of Arizona. More issue. The ballpark change wasn't as big as you think. But I do like more getting out of there. You have Andrew mccutchen you number thirty two author. Obviously, we still don't know about what else the Phillies will look like. But it's one home runs at least an eight consecutive seasons. Not really stealing basis anymore that probably won't change the Phillies. There's a risk here. There is and for me the risk is he's slots in is a six hitter, which is not really maximizing his full potential. I love this guy in the points leagues. The on base percentage leagues. That's that's my pro. Mccutchen stance. Edwin Encarnacion he might end up somewhere else as well. He's already moved on seven straight seasons with thirty plus home runs. No other players and actress streak longer than five that's Nelson Cruz does Edmund in Kronos, you'll make it eight straight is he a top fifty player. I will say no I want to get out here before the downward curve. Okay. You Brian dosier at number one seven overall seems like a pretty good bounceback opportunity for dosier who didn't get like forty homers two seasons ago. He'll hurt your batting average. But then this could be a top hundred player. You don't see that? He could if he had a full rebound. But I do think that the career curve is kind of adhering to what it should for him. I mentioned the Damion Easley career comp. I mean players of this style, historically, donate. Great at second base. That's my worry with dosier. He could be a very good value where I have them..
Tanner Roark Traded to Reds from Nationals for Tanner Rainey
"Tanner, Roark traded by the nationals to the Cincinnati Reds for Tanner, rainy. So a couple of tanners in a deal full house there it's both but Tanner Roark ends up in Cincinnati and that had some solid seasons for Washington over the years. But of course, they just added Patrick Corbin to that

"And center, I got Stanton it's athletic as hell, but is forced the judges and right Gardiner left. And then as he continually was asked about it. He finally said no Harper, no time at all. When you're looking for so. Stuff is. The last game. I mean, all you got to listen to what he says, he's crumbs. Breadcrumbs around for you, all you have breadcrumbs about an infielder solution is Manny Machado an option. We've talked many Representative Danny Lozano. And then he went on to say he is talked to him many times. I'm sorry multiple times. At least twice I believe crumbs bread crumbs there the other one that was quite interesting was they had Patrick Corbin listed as the top free agent. Pitcher would not they never made him an offer made that very clear, they never made Corbin and never made him an awesome. Why because they knew that he had a six year offer with the the nationals. He essentially said it wasn't. I don't want to say this throw away. But they weren't going to go to the numbers that the thought he was going to get worse. Essentially, saying here's six years with anybody. So that's why it really it's it's interesting kind of I guess it's a pitcher. You don't wanna go six years with with Machado at his age, which goes, I guess you'd go seven absolutely here was a report is is twenty six seconds. But you'll get the points. I left in the question. He is stunned that the Yankees would be out on the top free agent pitcher stated from the.
Bryce Harper sweepstakes could heat up at winter meetings
"Remember the days, right? It's out of Thursday morning. Friday morning is the rule five draft and that ends the proceedings there at the winter meetings. But when you get it. The winter as he got everybody in one place Arab Vegas, and they're going to be all packed into one hotel. And you know, every you have front offices up in a sweet, and they meet every day, basically live up there. You got the reporters walking the hallways. Really unique kind of set up something like MLB network will have their whole studio set up in the middle. Guess wouldn't be in the middle of the game floor there. But in one of the wings of the casinos. So it'll be. Rumer central and that job is everybody talks every little thing becomes a big rumor in typically, we talked about Jayson stark a little bit earlier tonight. You don't always have a whole lot of action at the winter meetings, especially early on and sometimes it will build up. But a lot of big moves already here as Paul Goldschmidt is traded for by the cardinals the Mets with their big move. In fact, they every single one of the teams in the NFL as except the Marlins is already had a big strike so far this off season. But where I am curious now is what happens with Manny Machado and Bryce Harper. The Yankees did not get Patrick Corbin. We have all this money to spend. I gotta take the Yankees are going to end up with one of those two and the Phillies you'd figure it'd be the landing spot for the other the national spend a lot of money on Corbin out. They get puts them out on Bryce Harper. But we just haven't seen them tied to. That many teams every fan base. I guess want Machado one Harper, but the actual teams and the rumor mill really has it started on them yet. And it's been the rest of the free agent market. It's been you know, kinda pick that to to this point Soviets Tennessee starting up on Sunday as to what the Mets still need to accomplish. Even after the deal this week had a chance to catch up. "Only at a price. They're comfortable with this is not the New York Yankees CNBC, by the way. Now, this is this is baseball. This is baseball. Now, the Yankees are just part of this revolution note ever since analytics have come along. And they've shown you the true value of put that in quotes. But the true value of a player GM's are no longer judged by just how big a deep the pocket book is that how how much they have in the vault there judge now by the best deal and not getting hose and not getting taken to the cleaners by every agent out there. Well, Maggie, and you've talked about a lot of the advantages of the Yankees was how big their analytics department was and how they have a seamless relationship between the manager. The the the general manager in the department. But what happens is everybody has those same analytics. So when everybody has that same analytics, it kind of levels to Plainfield, so no matter what you're still going to have to overpay right because they're gonna put the same value. So if every team is having a values up to the free agent. The is going to go with whoever is willing to to step over what the analytics say. So the Yankees are going to still have to overpay. We don't want the Yankees to sit up and start being like the Mets or how the Mets were last year waiting for the market to fall back because as you're waiting for the market to fall back. Everybody knows what the Yankees are looking for right? They're looking for starting pitching. And maybe some help in the bullpen. So now what's going to happen? If everybody else is willing to spin because they have the money. We know the Phillies have the money think Washington was a surprise. You know, the day will come up at pony up that type of money, but also they may be in the market for potentially Harper as well. So what happens if we already know what you need in team said, okay? We're going to we're going to handicap the Yankees by overpaying to make sure that they don't get what they need. Hang on a second a few things over one. Analytics also apparently said that the Mets were eighty Eighty-three win team before they did anything. But the last time I checked in one seventy seven that's number one. Well that was their number two. Not all of them are created absolutely true. You know, the Yankees for the longest time have enjoyed this narrative among their fans and justifiably so because it's one hundred percent true. The time of being in the business of winning. But it's starting to feel like the Yankees are just more in business. And that's fine. I get that every owner is in business, and every owner would love to find a way to spend the least to win the most. And that's that's fine. The Yankees are printing money, they are one of the most valuable sports franchises in the world's top three or four. At least now winning was always priority. Number one losing out on Corbin is not what I'm talking about here. Okay. One hundred and forty million dollars to six years for Patrick Corbin, kooky talk cookie. No need for that. But the fans love the idea that no matter who it is. The biggest fish on the free agent market is always going to be linked to the Yankees. And right now, we are having a lot of trouble connecting that link between the Manny Machado, Bryce Harper in the Yankees. There is no reason that Bryce Harper should not be a New York Yankee. I don't care what the analytic say. There is no reason whatsoever. And I mean, we're talking about Patrick Corbin taking hometown discount. What the Yankees. One of their biggest advantages with their fans has always been and even in the new stadium down below the highest price tickets sometimes we're empty because the corporations for the ones that could afford them. But the ones up above their full. Oh, and the stadium was packed every game last people respect how much the Yankees go out and do everything that can that was always the narrative they are taking the money they make and they are putting it back into the team. It's starting to feel a Colo shape. But it's starting to feel like business is gaining more traction on winning well with the they told you there was a Hal Steinbrenner said wasn't this last year? It shouldn't take more than two hundred million dollars to build a winner. Okay. But they're they're they're not there right now. Well, how much the detained that won the championship spent more than a million lot, exactly? And this past year. I even bought into that. We don't have to spend breeze chair. Fifty percent tax is is nuts. Here. Okay with them being decision. No, I'm okay now. Operating the way that they did when they still went out and got in. But we're keeping it under one ninety this year. So we can go nuts next year. Right. Did. You gotta go nuts. Let's see. Well, we it's still. But when I read things like this, I totally comfortable with Machado with art price. Wait a minute. What? Wait. What was the last? We are sick and tired of every other team. Either trying to you know, run up the price on tried to run up the price trying to use them to gain leverage. Whatever maybe they're sick and tired of that what I'm not used to seeing. I'm used to seeing the Yankees as the ones out front. I mean, they don't have to tell us everything they wanna do. But they're usually the ones who are being the chase as opposed to being the chasers. We've also seen that they have sometimes real hairpin reactions like I dunno last year when Shohei Ohtani decided he wanted to be on the west coast then Giancarlo Stanton presented itself. Okay. You made a move. Now, we make a move in the past when the Red Sox have won the World Series. Okay. You won the World Series. Now, you're going to get our rebuttal. They've already made one big move. Now, granted it was a trade. But they did bring in James Paxton Dow is a big move. But they just haven't spent the money on free agency yet. And I still think there's plenty of time. And I do believe that Bryce Harper is a very good chance of ending up at a Yankee uniform trust Cashman's. Track record right because last year when they missed out on tiny. They stunned us with the trae for stand. So I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. But I think what New York fans and New York teams have to start realizing is used to be all about real estate real estate real estate. Everybody wanted to come play for New York. Now people have other options because the world is so small you'll make money anywhere. Exactly. You don't have to be here in deal with the criticism of shows like ours. You know, and and being on the back pages, and some people just aren't built to deal with that type of stuff. So now, you have to realize that now it is no hometown discount. They almost one more to come play for New York because they know they're going to have to deal with scrutiny. If anything goes goes wrong. You know, we saw in last year we saw that in in with the with the with the. With the giants. And we see that. We're starting to see that in other sports as well. The fact that you say that you play in New York doesn't have the same sign that it used to have. Yeah. But you're not going to be able to convince me that playing for the New York Yankees doesn't mean anything. I mean, it does mean something to Bryce operate. Patrick corbin. Also, we're not talking about the difference between five and far be it for me to say five or ten million isn't a lot. But what forty million dollars? He'd be dumb and just it would be idiotic for him to turn down that kind of money short life changing. But it used to be that. Okay. If you win in New York, you're going to make that money back in million and endorsements meal is New York so you can make that money in endorsement how much how much is Dell making more than than what Julio Jones made his new contracts delegate billion bucks on. But he's never been what I'm saying is comparing apples to apples. So I'm talking about Dell Beckham his fame and how much he makes the fail compared to Julio Jones who has been better for longer here and has been in the playoffs in the postseason and perform we're Odell has only been in one postseason game in loss. The other issue is this the difference between what the Yankees spent last year, and what the Red Sox spent and now that. They kept underneath the threshold in the grand scheme is peanuts. Sixty million dollars in a Yankee scheme in the Yankee businesses without a doubt. I totally understand. But I think that teams now want to spend smarter rather than just spending the most that's I think I think that nowadays a general manager gets crucified and and Brian Cashman got plenty of criticism for Jacoby ellsbury. We can't stop talking about. That's all fine. Here's my problem. The team that spent the most just one branding Yankees have won a damn thing in ten years, and Brian and any other Representative of the Yankees over the last twenty five years has always said the exact same thing every year is a disappointment that we don't win the World Series. Well, you also Randy LeVine, the president say yesterday, we feel like we're just as good as the Red Sox. You can say you're not because they won they beat your ass and you lost and the. The Red Sox have won four in newborn one since two thousand two thousand one and how much how much thousand two thousand. And if you win the World Series how much do you make that sixty million back tripled? Right. If they wanted to know two thousand was the last time they one thousand nine right now, I'm saying since two thousand and since the Yankees won. Yeah, they want. Once the Red Sox have won four time. All right, so two. So the Red Sox spent sixty million dollars more how much you think they get it from Silla knows t shirts and all that. So they're making that sixty million back. So if you win. Think of an either making this is the year. Right. This is the year is probably the last year that the Yankees have an opportunity to win a championship before they had the star. You're paying somebody's markers. Right. They're going to have the bitchy play judge. They're gonna pay Sanchez in years. For that. Eventually going to have to start up. They're gonna have to pay Didi. He's going to be the first guy is going to get the free agency. They have to figure out what they're gonna do with them. I need to get a couple of these cheap wins because not going to be so cheap to win win when they have their dress all these contracts, there should be absolutely no reason that Bryce Harper is not a New York Yankee or should be no reason, why people who don't think that this is why I thought it was insane. That anyone thought that Brett Gardner would be blocking another outfielder from. That's crazy. You wanna know baby talk about the he's not spending. Maybe don't bring the Taco Bell for lunch fair or it's a carbon port. I mean, the dollar get some prime rib. Have you been down to the legend seats? They're basically throwing crab legs. Just right in your face. Look if they were trying to win me taco bells the right decision. Somebody else. Maybe that's his preference. I don't know. Chiro? Just a simple check taco guy won thirteen. Figure out how many World Series the chase. South talking about eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six one thirteen. Does it feel like the Yankees are just a little more concerned about the business end and the winning end these days? Eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six live from the town fair tire studios..

Good. I'm disappointed. Been the biggest contract they'd given out in team history. And it looks like Corbin guy. A valid Darvish dot six years about one twenty five. Yeah. How's that working out? But it team sign you Darvish that how most steals working. Yeah. But that's that's the player. I would have never signed. He lived in the World Series of busted and broken down that year Corbin, actually, I. If if there isn't any or the or the nationals gonna get well, he's he's a good strikeout pitcher. He's a left-handed star which is important, right? I mean is one of these things where it's like, all right? We're probably glad we didn't. We didn't end up getting by the end of the contract, maybe. But also puts the nationals in position next year to be right there. Yeah. But the nationals that talent they've had GIO Gonzalez match. Shergar who else did they had down there? They still haven't won a playoff series. They haven't. Well. Maybe Bryce doesn't come back. Maybe this is the first sign that he's not coming back. Exactly. Which is another good reason. But since Randy in the category talking about him. Patrick Corcoran had another good year. And he's kind of quiet don't hear much about him. But if. Where you are. It's exactly because I hear so much about Patrick Corbin. Just because like where I'm based. I guess yeah. You're you're in you're in the central. I mean, you're right there and he plays in Arizona. Patrick corporate only made seven point five million this year in my view. The best pitcher on the market. I think I think he is the best pitcher in the mar. Well, actually, how about this. I think he's the most proven pitcher on the market. Yes. I think the best pitcher in the market is Nathan ability because of what he showed this post-season and what he showed when he's finally healthy. But he hasn't done it his whole career corbin's room. Really good. He's thirty on the dot. He only made seven point five million next year. You're going to put a one front of that right away. He's gonna make at least seventeen and a half million next year. New York Yankee. Yep. And I think that's and I think if they don't go the kaikal route, which they shouldn't if on the Yankees, I don't I don't do any with kaikal. I go call Patrick Corbin and say here's four years eighty million dollars compared to New York City. Yeah. Because I think he's worth it. And he'd be oh God. What do you mean? Like is that somebody that deal would look at it and think you know, what God. Yeah. One hundred percent, but he just doesn't have the the cap space right now. Yes. That's what I was about say. Like if you had the space. That's that's the THEO guy through in through. Oh, that's him Darvish she's paying Lester. He's playing paying in Tana. It's just a whole mess. It hayward. I mean, these people so corbin's twenty nine but he's turning thirty for free agency. So it'll be thirty and market value for him his five years at twenty million a year. So we're pretty close. I don't know if he's gonna get that fifth year that's kind of dangerous because we thirty five at the end of that. But. Yeah. Four or five years for twenty million. Absolutely. I mean that's similar to. I mean, tell me these pitchers if he's better than Arrietta, probably not but area. He's yeah. He's close Zimmerman Darvish Portillo leak better than all. I think he's better than all of them. Besides maybe area. And they're all around the same age when they signed they all sign for the same money. Patrick orphans gonna make twenty million dollars a year. I think he ends up in New York City. I think that that's the hands down favor. Yeah. I think it has to be and I can't think of another team. I can I can think. Let's see actually, Los Angeles Dodgers. Yup. Yeah. Just because and actually I think the white socks just because they have so much money. And when you get somebody whose it's their first real contract. Right. Yup. Money makes all the difference. Yep. So I don't think he goes the White Sox because I don't think if I'm Patrick Corbin. If not one of the top pitching arms on the market, another guy who could end up in New York. The Ke's look for a little boost to their starting rotation. Jason what are your thoughts on Patrick Corbin? Oh. I we talk about where he's gonna go really have a tough time. Not seeing him in a New York Yankee uniform either getting them out of Zona will be nice getting out of the NFL west would be nice bringing him into the if he comes the alias. It's it's not a friendly environment in a number of places, but I really liked the step forward. He took last year, especially with the strikeout rate and his the way he approached his approach to pitching. It was just fantastic. What you look at the the growth from the west that even a lot of people if you just wanna use the straight FIPS he actually underperformed he could have been even better than that last year. So I'm excited to see where he's going to be. And if he gets paid like an ace AMIS, certainly put up the numbers of one last year, even if it was a quiet one, I just worry about the coming out of the going to a least is is a bit tough because four fistulas parks are extremely friendly run environments that even pitch. Ching Ed Yankee Stadium meeting lefty with the valley in left center. That's that's helpful. But it's still it's still a friendly run environment. I would for his first fantasy value. I would like to see him. Elsewhere, maybe goes to the Yankees, obviously that should help his wins. Now, the Rangers may come up. But let's see where else he can go. I'm excited to see what he's capable of with another team. Just a little less excited if he ends up being with the Yankees. Yeah. In would you be excited for a Patrick Corbin in a Yankee uniform in what are your thoughts on him? Yeah. Yes. Sure. He'd be great..

For a long time and that's all it takes a two stage now we. Have some teams I'm saying teams as far as being plural in front office says. Easier when, there's only one team but still get off a, good run you're right back in it it, back, in the wildcard or the division? Threw the ball well you know that's a strike that we know and be nice to see him run it out as far as the, rest of the season thrown a ball like that Last year we've talked about it he was our best pitcher Down the. Stretch September, in those starts in. The early go this year He he got off a. Little bit on the mechanics but looks. Like he's. Straighten him out now he's commanded a ball a lot better all right so, here we go In the city the giants head to. Head with the first, place D-Backs it. Starts tonight. On the radio.
