"Going to set this up. I think this was kind of one of the more lackluster in a good way. Kind of one of the more peaceful, on eventful weeks in the world of golf that we've had for quite a while, very, very little news on the Liv golf front. We didn't have any majors. We didn't have Jordan Spieth when in any tournaments. What's the state of play right now in the world of golf? How are you feeling? Good about it. I feel like everything needs a little bit of an ebb and flow, right? If everything is great, then nothing is great, right? I remember, this is just maybe tortured analogy, but seeing the first Lord of the Rings in the theater, years ago, and after the sort of long departure from the Shire, it was just like action at like a level 8 for like two and a half hours. And eventually I was like, oh, wow. This is just a lot. And you kind of was any narrative storyteller knows, you need sort of rises and falls in emotional thing. So probably a good thing that we have kind of a week where you can either be into it or you can ignore it. And you know, I think we probably were into it just the right amount this week. Just to sort of in passing, enjoy it just enough. I think like one tweet about the entire tournament this week. So yeah, you know, I feel like we're mostly checked out. We had the proverbial eagles come pick us up off the mountain and just really, really brought us in for a nice little Sunday of golf watching. You took The Lord of the Rings metaphor just right out of my mouth. I mean, that's exactly where I was going as well. Patrick cantlay and Xander schauffele are your wire to wire winners at the Zürich classic of New Orleans. What's the takeaway from the week for you? What was your what was your feeling watching the tournament this week? I think my feeling is Xander and Patrick are kind of exactly what you would sort of put out there if you were like a critic of golf and you were like, oh, it's all like kind of just boring dudes with no personalities. And if you are like, I think follow it a little bit more closely. I think this is like a pretty smart, interesting guy, really actually pretty good interview when he's asked interesting questions. And Xander certainly pretty smart guy as well, but they don't project a lot of energy or charisma, certainly on the golf course. And so if you wanted to point to a reason why non golf people will have a hard time maybe getting into golf sometimes, I think those two dudes are probably a pretty good example of like, oh, just kind of some boring dudes who don't really exude much emotion on the course. I still can't figure out Xander in general, whether he is kind of someone who should be praised for kind of always being, you know, pretty good or whether that is somehow a flaw. I hate to get like hot tea, you know, like some where you sort of, oh, this guy's not a winner. But, you know, on some level it is not why we sort of have jobs and sports is because we were able to sort of discuss what inherent thing it is inside someone that allows them to kind of crush all others who are vying for the same thing. So I don't know if it does anything. Look, how long has it been since Xander won a tournament like 2018? 2019 cup of Lu, I believe. 2019. So good, I guess to see him get in the winter circle again. Feels a little bit flawed in the sense of maybe that's a great spot presenter to be. He's just always be good in team events. Need someone else to kind of lift him up over the hump. Sometimes I feel that way, but my own golf game was a much better in team pairings than I am in my individual. I did have a little bit of that feeling as well. Just, you know, the Zürich, we'll get into kind of the pros and cons of the Zürich and the team event in a minute, but looking at the leaderboard, I'm kind of, I was kind of drawn to these zander specifically. Up there just in like, oh, okay. I could talk about this. This guy has, you know, kind of no showed in events for quite a while, hasn't gotten over the hump. And, you know, now suddenly, does it with a partner, at least, you know, at least there's a little bit of hot takey substance to go along with that. And you know, looking through his wins, I mean, I think 5 wins now. 5 or 6 wins on the PGA Tour, a lot of them are, I won't say weird events, but the tour championships of 30 man events, the HSBC, in China's kind of a weird event, the capabilities and other 30 ish, 35% events, and now we have a team win, which juxtapose that with kind of, I think, really, I was trying to wrap my head back around like why is there the Xander hype, right? Because it doesn't seem like we've seen all that much over the last couple of years other than we have the Olympics, which is its own kind of weird wrinkle. We have, we just have all these things where you always kind of seems like he's in the picture without actually being the dude. I don't know the last time we've seen him really kick the goddamn door down and just be the dude. And I think reminding myself that he's played in 19 majors and he's top ten to 9 of them and I think that's where a lot of it comes from, right? It just had so much he has had so much promise and not that he hasn't delivered on this because 9 top tens and majors is big game hunter stuff. It's just, it's a really, really weird career. Made even weirder by a weird team win today. Yeah. I think one of the things that's kind of interesting for me is to think about this is that he doesn't have any like spectacular disasters, right? There's no thing where like he was going to win a major, maybe the masters that were against Vicki where he hit it in the pond on 16 is kind of the closest to this, but it's kind of just a lot of like weird, slow fades, where he's just kind of like you think, oh, at the start of the day, I remember when he and Spieth were tied at the start of the day at the feats of the Waste Management. And I remember texting you or something that day, oh my God, it looks like Xander is like the iron Byron compared to like a guy trying to write a game. There's no way that speed is going to, and they both kind of, you know, they both didn't win that day. Brooks, I think, ended up winning that day. But it was like Xander was just kind of like a boring, non factor. It was just kind of a bunch of pars, but he bogey here and there. Like, nothing ever particularly interesting. And it almost, I think we almost have more sympathy or expectations for guys who get really close and then just completely collapse in the moment. And I don't know, it just seems to me like that's a little bit of Xander. Like he never makes it. It never makes me feel anything deeply. And so that's probably why I feel indifferent towards some of his career prospects. Not like reef Fowler or someone like that who has made me feel like both highs of like, oh, the God, the players are so exciting in 2017 when he won or like, man, he really laid a huge egg at Aaron hills. There is no moment like that for Xander other than maybe the masters, but Hideki was probably going to wear that anyway..

"People will care about that far more than they care about Scottish golf that week. Yeah, I think it just precedes the Scottish open. So I think they work hand in hand. Yeah, like Monday, Tuesday of that week though. It's still that week. And then some of the other guys can go play the Scottish open and whatever. Tiger. I'm curious if Tiger is going to jet back to Florida and then go back. No, hang out and enjoy some fish and chips. Do you think Tiger is going to play golf in this in central Ireland? Through Tuesday and then take two 7 hour flights in the next four days. That's what he did in 2010. Yeah. As you know. These are differently. Yeah, you probably doesn't like flying as much now as you did then. But hopefully you can find it comfortable bed. Maybe they'll take his yacht over, Sean. He'll staying there. My final vibe check. Can you imagine privacy just crashing through the waves in the Atlantic? Yeah, I'm not sure how good it is for transatlantic travel. Final vibe check Sean, the U.S. presidents cup team, just some fun names on there right now. Scottie scheffler, San berns, Patrick cantlay, Morikawa, JT Spieth, so the top 6 are about as you would expect, but the next 6 is where it gets interesting. Taylor gooch, Tom hoagy, Jason Kokrak, max homa. Kevin kisner Torres. So if things stayed that way, we'd be missing names like Xander, DJ, Patrick Reed, Bryson, Brooks, Tony finau..

"You ask him to win one of these damn things. That's what you do. Yeah. I mean, if you want to, if you want to nitpick, Patrick cantlay as a tournament contender over the last year, I think you could get into some interesting scenarios where he won the memorial after rahm got had to withdraw with COVID. So that was one of his victories. He won the BMW and his showdown with Bryson that definitely required some help from Bryce and missing a few putts down the stretch, right? He won the tour championship, but if you only look at 72 holes scores, here's the T four. So if you want to be that guy with Patrick cantlay, then you can. I guess you can be. He had a brief session with media afterwards. He basically said that he had a similar shot to the one he hit on the 72nd hole in the playoff and basically just said the wind got it in a different way than he anticipated. That was that. This is not a podcast that supports wind takes. Can we make that clear? I mean, yes, on the one hand, I don't know what else you're supposed to say. But maybe he should say, yeah, I should have hit 8 iron. I don't know. I did the same thing in regulation, actually. Makes bogey makes birdie on 17 to tie for the lead, makes bogey on 18 to fall one shot outside the playoff. It's a big time what if weak for a lot of guys, Sean Harold varner, finished one shot outside the playoff after one of the weirder penalties that I've seen. I think it was on Friday when some dude in his yard was throwing Harold's ball around and saying it was out of bounds, but where he picked it up was inbound. Very confusing situation. Shane Lowry was in control in the driver's seat for he hit a really poor tee shot on the par three and then chipped in the water. So, I mean, obviously every week there's guys that are going to walk away thinking they should have won, but this week felt that way, you know, and then some. Any karma for Harold varner opening his mouth on Saturday, talking about speed swing. I don't think he meant it in any sort of malicious way, but you would have to think that Spieth would take a little bit of satisfaction in seeing HV three saying, yeah, you know, the fellas on the group text you're talking about speed swing, not too impressed with what we're seeing. Yeah. Keep my swing out your mouth. Yeah. HV three's playing some good golf though. He's playing well. I mean, we definitely saw some of the guys that have been playing well that have been showing Shane Lowry, you know, they had some nice weeks. It felt like it didn't feel like an off week tournament in terms of the guys that were on the leaderboard. There were.

"This one felt like more of a backdoor win, which we just don't see that often. Well, I think that's the nature of stealing. Stealing it. Is a backdoor victory. But I love when generational players do that because it is such a flex. It is such a, you know, from the era of Tiger Woods, winning with his B or C game. And let's be clear did not have his C game this week. He had like a D or a C putter. He was good everywhere else. But it's the first thing that is like that came up in his post round interview. It's the first thing he brought right to mind. You can tell he'd been thinking about it while he can't make a single putt while the most important putt that he made was the 7 inch putt in the playoff. I love when players do this because it is such a flex, it is like, hey Shane Lowry, I know you're playing your best golf of your life. You're probably playing as good a gulf as you have in a really long time, you know, port Russia included. And I'm still better than that. Me without a putter is still better than that. Hey Harold varner, I know you're still trying to win for the first time in the PGA Tour. I've done this 12 times before, and I'm doing it without a putter this week for number 13. I love flexes like this. That's what it feels like to me. I know Jordan doesn't treat it that way, but the rest of the people on the PGA Tour have to, at some level, be aware of what Spieth did today. That is telling everyone else in the field, hey, I played great this week. I also played great before the masters. So I'm here for the summer. He has, he has shown in the last couple of years that once he kind of sniffs contention, he's usually there at the end. He has not done much the last 6 tournaments he played. He doesn't have a top 25. But before that, he finished second at pebble beach last year, obviously at a win, he had four other podiums. But he has not really been in that in between mix, where he's sort of there hanging around, but not contending. It seems like, regardless of where his game is, there's something in him that likes seeing the other horses around him and when he sees you in the to the side of him, then he really turns on the jet. So it's just cool to watch. Sean are we concerned about Patrick cantlay? Well, you probably aren't concerned about him because he got another podium. You probably loved it. Definitely encouraging for the silver medalist I wouldn't confuse it with a first place finish though. Yeah, well, he definitely isn't winning tournaments right now. He is, he's probably equally dangerous as Jordan Spieth. Maybe more dangerous than Jordan Spieth. But the guy who won player of the year wins the FedExCup. Wins events, I think he won three times last year, big events. He doesn't have, he doesn't have, I guess, the putts that need to go in this year for some reason. It's very bizarre, you know? We talked about how Patrick cantlay lost to Scottie scheffler and I think it was a four hole playoff in Phoenix, you know, Super Bowl Sunday and changed Scotty shepherd's life forever. It was on the losing side of that. And we were like, oh wow, you know, can't lay showing he's the best player in the world by getting into the playoff in Phoenix..

"Code dz 20 for 20% off. Now let's talk about Jordan Spieth. Here's where you have to know how to drop your golf ball. Speeds up play when you have those route barriers. Fowler has dropped the ball twice. The shambo is going to get a free drop. Something bad has happened if we end up here. This is a drop zone. Sean, the jacket that we thought we might see speed slipping on this April was green. It was not tart and red. You thought. Well, I didn't really think that, but you know, I didn't even know that he was playing in the RBC heritage to tell you the truth before, you know, about last Wednesday. Credit to Jordan Spieth, because this is really masters hangover week. It might be masters hangover two weeks. There's a reason that they even moved the Pro Bowl from being the week after the Super Bowl. There's a reason they don't play a baseball game the week after the World Series. Inevitably, there's going to be a little bit of a let down after you go to Augusta national and then you have golf again the next week. But we had a pretty good field at the RBC heritage. We had an electric sundae. There were like a dozen names that were within a couple shots. Down to the wire. And we had two of the biggest names in the field. Maybe the two best golfers in the field. Well, that would be a stretch. Two of the best golfers in the field. Patrick cantlay and Jordan Spieth coming down to the wire. Seem to say it was arguably the most surprising win of his career based on how he played how he finished. It was a little bit strange. So I guess the first thing I'll ask you, Sean, is were you surprised by this victory? No one on this podcast is more surprised than me. I tell you that. Jordan Spieth is so confusing. It makes no sense. You just look like you said you were surprised that he was even playing this week..

"Wow. And schwartzel is in the final group, yeah? Yeah. He was first in that belief. That's right. Xal Torres, we haven't talked about him. He is plus 3500 more cow plus 2200 the pairing questions like rolling a grenade into the discussion. Nobody can figure it out. Our pairing's out. I don't know. Let's see if we can find them. Is this a zalatoris first not under par around? Correct. Even par 72. That's unreal, man. T times R, in fact, out. What do we got? Let's go from the to your specific question. I like the value of the plus 1200. Final group at two 50 p.m. eastern Scottie scheffler and Charles schwartzel. Group the second to last group is Sanjay and Shane Lowry. Third class is Hideki and Harold varner. We have DJ and Kevin Knox, cam Smith. Running it back from us. Oh, that's right. Cam Smith and Corey Connors. Oh, Morikawa and zalatoris. I will imagine. No guineas. Danny willett and walking niemann, JT and christiaan bezan hoot, Matt Fitzpatrick, JJ spahn, Webb Simpson, Patrick cantlay, pause. Can we get two apologies from Neil for that group? First of all, web simps and making the cut. Second of all, Kaley shooting 75 today. Yeah, tough, tough for both. I kind of felt like web just has been a non factor for the past 9 months. And he decided to show up this week. So I guess he's feeling better. I think Webb's an adult. I think he's a proper player. I don't have anything against weapons. I appreciate Webb's game. I agree with you. He's a dad. He's like, he gets his job done. He gets his chores down on the weekend. He cuts his grass, he takes the trash. Got a mortgage? Yes. He's up early. He's up early and he's in bed early. He hits shanks, though. He sleeps well. Grown men don't hit shake. He's saving 5. What is it? 5 29s or 5 28s or college education to be fair, Tiger went through some of those release patterns. Webb is max. 'cause he's every year. I think it's a 5 29. Okay, thank you. College education. He's got two of these. He's still on this. Okay. He's a grown ass man. But not like not a scary grown ass man. He's just like a solid dad. Of course, middle management. You're right. I shouldn't have doubted him. 'cause he's gonna get his job done. Kevin kisner and Tiger Woods, paired together. Robert McIntyre and Lee Westwood. Bubba Watson dazzler. Bubba and Sergio Hatton and rom that I hope that the mics are hot for that one. That is an Opus day. That's a dream. Conference right there. Rory and Sepp straka, Harry Higgs and Hudson swafford shout to the troops today, tough scene. Did you guys see that? I didn't. Hudson swafford four iron head just flew off after his shot on 13. And the ball went over the green. It was Kia. Unfortunately. It was a weapons malfunction. Siwo Kim and Jason Kokrak, Taylor gooch Daniel Berger. Tony finau, Cameron champ. Russell Henley Patrick Reed. Hey, just a quick shout out there searching right now, Randy. Just a quick shout out to some of the old Lee Westwood, bubba, Sergio. I didn't really even know that there still participating, but a pretty good week, you know. Just solid. Kudos to them. How about this shot from bubba? Oh my God. Not the best to be recreated on a podcast. I would recommend looking it up. Follow the second shot in 18. Oh my God. He's tweeted something about tua his ball was he had to hover the club because it was on a branch. It was a pitching wedge from one 83 out of the mulch up the hill, launched as high as he could, got up in the jet stream and hits like a foot. It's truly one of the best golf shots I've ever seen. Unreal. That was so fun to watch. Cody, is there anything we are missing out on at the moment? No, just to clean it up real quick, you are correct, Neil, it is a 5 two 9. I'm very thank you. Thank you. And Wes max and that shit out for 5 kids. You know he is. That is correct. And they're giving you a hard time. That's tax free. All of this at the players as well with Webb, thinking like, where the hell has he been? Because we wanted to bet on them. It was his first tournament in like months. Dad. Dads. Premiere wrong. Adults, grown people. No, it's kind of like the dad in the driveway. He's back in my ass down. Like, oh, you don't think I can, you don't think I can get buckets? But the next day he's next. Yeah, he's not feeling good. But he's gonna get it done. So shout out to web. I will own that. Unlike Randy, I'll own that bed. I own all my takes. I stand by him. He will not back down. He will not back down. Anything else. No, I mean do you guys want to talk about amateurs at all? It's a big tradition at the mass hill. One of them almost got me paid on a hole in one. That was fun. But otherwise, we have colo amateurs. I would say great Nakajima and Austin greaser, Nakajima is a number one amber in the world. And it looks like a future star, but greaser is, I mean, that's an impressive performance from him. I don't think he doesn't have the same quite the same pedigree as Nakajima. Got in because he won the amateur how did Greece get in? Runner up in the air. So I thought it was just the one winner. That's why everybody wants to win the semifinals. Got it. Okay. Loved your idea. I think solid. I think that was a Hollywood hoteling idea. To play off the low a.m. oh no, sorry, Ben said there should be no low end if they tie. Or if nobody makes the cut, Ben said this is bullshit. Or play it off. I wouldn't playoff is it better? Yeah, don't award two people..

"Three foot putts. Off the toe. But he doesn't infinity loop and almost like kind of open pushes him with the toe and he's been making them. I'm with you. That sounds sustainable. It's gonna be a incredible to watch as he gets into contention, but he makes so many medium range puts. It's not 20 foot honey hole. Go look at the putt on three, the birdie putt on number three, and then the putt that he made on number 12. He hits both of them off the dead toe of the putter. It's insane. But it looks almost intentional. I need somebody to explain that to him. I got a question. I got a question. Listening. Are the masters greens are Augustus green's really that difficult to put? I'm going to say yes. I think the answer is yes. But I think what you're getting at maybe is so difficult that maybe bad putters can win. Are they so difficult that it's difficult for everybody or are they so overhyped as difficult and they're not really that difficult? Here's what I'll say having never hit a putt on either of the people. They're very shaky masters winners. Bubba, Hideki. Sal Torres has played well. All those guys just hit it so good though. Mickelson, I think so hit or miss. I feel like there are two, I feel like there's still two putting a lot. But there are two putting from the right spots, right? Whereas if you're not hitting it good and you're spinning down slope, so you're missing on the wrong side or whatever you have a stressful day. Whereas those guys, if they're hitting the right spots because they're in better control of their irons, it seems like even though they're not making everything, they're still have their three footers are much less scary. I have a theory working theory. I have a theory that on perfect greens that are super quick, the guys who naturally put tentatively in defensively, it almost helps them. So guys that are like, I'm banging this in the hole every week. I don't know. That's totally, but there's something about these like, I'm like, are they really that hard to put? So here's what I'll say. Something Zack Blair said, I think, on this pod many years ago was when he got out on the PGA Tour, he was surprised how many from 8 feet in, how infrequently he had to start the ball outside the hole. Like the PGA Tour might put pins near the edges of greens, but it's rarely on a very sloped spot in the green. That is not the issue at the masters. The pins are often on weird. You'll see so many four footers. Yes, there was a lot of low camera shots where you can see how far outside the whole day had to go. So you have to get like if you are, if you have anything inside 8 feet that is not that dependent on speed, you can kind of decide what speed you want to make it at, how much break you want to play, et cetera. Some of these putts like the speeds put on four. It was like, dude, you can only hit this one speed and you got to hit the exact spot. You got to hit out here outside the hole and have the visualization to do it. And if you make any error here, you're toast, and that I think is what makes Augusta different. And you can get in a zone and if you're hitting your spots there, it looks pretty easy, but I think it's honestly a reflection too of like where you're leaving it on some of these greens to have the putts that are makeable. Yeah. All right. That's my theory on it, so. Okay. Who could say? If you look at data golf, it emphasizes the putting skill equal to every PGA Tour course. So it emphasizes driving distance a little bit. It really deemphasizes driving accuracy and it increases the emphasis on approach play. Compared to an average PGA Tour course. That's interesting. You know we skipped over just worth mentioning. Corey Connors. Yes. He was a guy that has played well here in the past. He's playing pretty decent coming in. Just want to acknowledge that. I've been converted to a believer. He seems like it's weird to say, does not seem like it matches his game, but it seems like kind of a hunter. Like a proper golfer. I mean, he seems to struggle. Seems to show up at majors, man. I don't know. It's great golf swing. Yeah. It's fun to watch. I hope he sticks around. Matt wolf, not good. Not good. Tried to putt out of a bunker today. That didn't go well. I might try that this week. Broke a club, that didn't go well. I will say, give a shout out to Shane bacon today, doing the commentary on the Tiger Woods is round on masters dot com. That was a thrill. I told him this, but it's like, I forget that's one of our friends doing commentary because he's so good at it. And that was a thrill. Are people going to be mad if we don't talk about Danny willett? I think so. We should talk about that. It's unbelievable. English people are in bed. It's 2 a.m.. That's true. That's true. We can just skip past. Okay. What do you want to say? No, nothing. He throwing it out there for the group. He was plus four. Very surprised. He's up there. Plus 4.1 instruction putting today. It's unsustainable. He was number one in the field on stroke skin putting. If he made this last I'd be a gladly eat my hat on that one, but I'm not concerned. And then the only other kind of like big, big name would be can like. Who did what you're supposed to do again? Kind of got it on the back. Around 70. That's exactly where you want to be. Yeah. I will say, you know, I feel like I can't lay defender and you're not as much of a can leg guy. I think I'm quite do it for me. Working in your case today, I kind of forgot about canton until you like on Facebook. I was like, oh, I forgot about Patrick cantlay. Yeah, we should probably watch him play. Just a bummer, 'cause I love when he gets asked and I think he's a very thoughtful smart guy, but doesn't do anything for me. Somebody we definitely left out Harry Higgs. How about that? Harry had a broken up and seeing, I mentioned this to you guys, but what a world looking up and being like, man, do you think Tiger Woods can chase down Harry Hayes at the masters? God, that's the world I want to live in. If you're Harry, would you be going out trying to shoot the best round tomorrow or are you trying to tie Tiger to get in his Saturday? What is that going to really good question? What is that going to do for your pip possibility? Harry's got to be Trinity forest, right? He's got to be licking his chops at the wind tomorrow, right? Bring it on. I know he doesn't have much course knowledge there. I know he doesn't have a ton of experience there and Augusta can eject you pretty hard, but listen, if it's going to eject everybody and then hopefully he hangs on. Cody, what do you got for us? Alex has been in the chapter. The last 30 minutes just begging for this moment to come. I feel like we need to get him on one of these live shows, but the man says the Harry's feeling it, so there you go. I mean, you want to talk about worried about? You know what I love seeing from Harry and Al can either confirm or disconfirm this?.

"Plus 1400, 20 nuggies there. Patrick cantlay outright winner. Plus 2500. 20 nuggies there. All right, I got to be there. I've been picking those guys. I was early last year on them. I can't miss the cut. He's got unfinished business. Both of all three of those guys have great track records here. Our last pick. 100 nuggets. Will there be two or more hole in ones at the masters this year? I say yes. Plus one 50. I can't believe that, that the odds for hole in ones for two or more are plus one 50. Those are horrible odds, but that's a fun bet. And I'm excited to watch. And I can't wait to see two or more hole in ones. There you have it. Wow. That would be two or more hole in ones on Sunday. On 16. I know. I think that's smart money right there. I feel like that would be plus one 50. Yeah. Randy all week. I have 5 plays. I have 5 plays. They're all 40 nuggies, and I'm so excited to share them with you. The first one is an outright winter play, Colin Morikawa. Going for his third major would be the third rung of the career Grand Slam. I think it establishes him as the best young player in golf right now. That's plus 2000. The other one, I'm on little Lowry bandwagon. I got him to win. Plus 5500. It just feels like the type of player that's going to win another major at some point. Obviously his first one was on a great golf course. So I think he could get it done at Augusta. Why not this year? Scottie scheffler, I got him to miss the cut plus 500. Wow. Wow. I'm fading Scottie, world number one. He's due to, you know, each year, one of the big guns has a real stinker of a week. I'm saying it's Scotty, and he's going home early. And then two top ten plays DJ plus one 7. I feel like that's almost free money. He's like, I don't see how he can not finish in the top ten this week. And then finally, Jordan Spieth, the top ten, a plus two ten, anytime you can get a four time champion just a top ten at better than two to one. So you got to take it. So those are the plays. Guys, breaking, breaking news, breaking news just coming into the TC news center. I'm scrapping this burns play. Nobody picks. Nobody picks speed to win. I'm picking him to win. No, you don't get to see the board. No, it's a matter of respect. Always something. It's always something. I'm the king. I can do whatever. The fact that nobody is. Muted. Are you in charge of the country? No, he's disbanded the parliament. He's taking absolute power. You can not see the board and change your opinion. And made his picks. Mine were locked. Mine, what do you mean, my word locked? I don't make my pixel live. You made an illegal pick last week, which we haven't even addressed yet. No, you entered your pants. If you guys want to avoid the illegal pick, that's fine. It's another $30 in my bank account. I would rather give you that. But we'll discuss the sanctions. If it would have hit, you would have been all over me about it not counting, but the fact that it didn't hit your letting it count. Well, you're taking speech to win. I feel like I'm taking a lot of throws money away if he wants to. That's up to him. No, 'cause that's gonna hit now because he knows. It makes our week so much more interesting if speed to win. At plus 20 it's not even good odds. Plus 2200. That's a heck of an edit for our editor here to figure all that out and put the graphics up, but I'll let you guys know what and I will just put it to DraftKings, boost it. Boost it. Do not boost anything for this guy. While we're talking to DraftKings, I want a top amateur market. I am begging for him to create a top amateur market. It might be a spirit of the game though. I know, mister Roberts and mister Jones would be rolling over in their grave, they knew we were betting on amateurs, Randy. Come on there. They're probably rolling on their graves for the dude perfect guys too. That might be fair. Also, I just want to give a shout out. I think he's, I like him this week. I just want to throw that out there. It's cool, man. Cool. Thank you everyone for tuning in. If you're watching this video again, head over to our podcast feed, check out our interview with John wood previewing the masters. We're going to be doing live shows. Of course, every night after each round of play Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This week can not get started soon enough. The cat's out in the golf course as we speak right now. Something's happening at all times at Augusta national. Wish we were there, but someday we will do one of these in person. But without any further delay, thank you everyone for tuning in and we will see you guys Thursday. Cheers. I kind of want to pick speed now. I'm not going to. So excited. "Winter plays, Morikawa to win plus 1600. I think that's gonna be a popular one with the boys. We've got hovland to win plus 2000. Tough finish. At bay hill, but he seems to be vibing and Patrick cantlay. I think treadstone kind of comes into TPC and starts executing people. That's plus 2000. And then we're going with a couple of home game picks, the models are buzzing. Camp Smith top ten plus three 30 and Billy Ho top ten plus four 50. Just ball strikers up and down those 5 picks, 20 nuggies each. I will not be watching nor do I care. But there you have it. See ya. Thank you, mister beluga, as mentioned at the top of the show we have an interview from the Callaway shoot with Sam Burns talking about this week's players. So I heard the phrase that there were a lot of unhappy millionaires last week. Do you know what I'm talking about when I asked that? I think so. I think so. What did you think of bay hill last week? You know, I think bay hill is a fantastic golf course, I think it's a great test. I just think in the last few years at times it's gotten a little, you know, it's hard because golf fans don't want to hear even the slightest critique, of course, set up. Even if it's legitimate. Here's my thing. I'm totally for making it hard. I think it should be hard. I think it should be difficult. But at the same time, I think it should be fair. But what does that mean? You know, where is that line? And how do we get to that point of, okay, this is not fair. This is kind of ridiculous. And I think that line was flirted with. I'm not necessarily saying that it was ridiculous. It was obviously really hard. I mean, anytime the score and average is 75, 76 on the weekend, it's difficult. But at the same time, I think the person who played the best one. It's probably still more fun to watch than a straight birdie fest, but I think there is something there's so much to that word fair, right? That's why I'm asking as many guys as I can. I'm trying to get this drill this message home as much as I can as to what the word fair means. So in your mind, what does that mean? I'll give you a great example. Number 6 last week, par 5 famous dwarf number 6. Straight down when pretty much every day on the tee shot. And it's almost impossible that it was almost impossible to hit that fairway. And through the fairway, you have 5 or 6 inch rough. And let's say two out of the four days I could only hit a gap wedge from that rough. Just to advance it 80 yards. So let's say they make that rough two and a half inches and you're standing there a 180 yards to the front edge of the green. It's a great hole then because you're trying to hit on the green at that point and you're going to see more balls in the water. You're going to see more balls catch flowers going the back bunker, the backer off. And it makes it a much better hole. But when all the guys are basically doing the same thing from that spot, it's just kind of like, well, I don't understand. What's the point? Exactly. At one point, the question became, can you hit a 330 yard drive in the air with enough backspin to hold a firm fairway to prevent it from going in the rough? You're almost hoping to heal cut it enough to where it would stay in the fairway, and then you could have a chance. So how does that differ from the test that we're going to see this upcoming week at the players? Yeah, I don't know. I don't know how the golf course is going to play this week. Obviously we're going to get some wind. But I don't see, I don't think you'll see the conditions get as firm just because of the forecast with rain and whatnot, but this is a place that you can't really fake it around here. You have to play solid golf, you have to hit really quality shots into the greens and what is fake it mean. I hear that a lot. Well, you know, it's one of those things where like last week, for instance, if you're not hitting really solid iron shots and number 13 last week, you're hitting a four and off the T and you have a wedge into that hole. If you missed the fairway, it's almost an auto layup, which you missed a bit with a foreign. So you should be penalized. But if you let's just say you catch it just a hair spinner, or you miss it just a little bit coming that you're probably going to hit in the water. And if you pull it left and Bill out in the left office, it's not great either. So that's kind of what I'm talking about when I say fake it. Like you have to hit two quality shots, even though it's a 360 yard hole. I would say like the phrase fake it also translates to just like there's consequence right for every shot, right? Good difference between a good shot and an average shot like is going to have solid chance that has an impact on your score. Do you dig in at all to stats and how that in a scenario like that might play an effect on your overall score? Yeah, a little bit like, for instance, like last week on the weekend. You know, there's a few holes out there that I knew, you know, this whole part for its play in four and a half. So if I'm standing in the middle of the fairway with a 8 R in my hand, I'm not necessarily thinking, oh, I need to make a birdie here. I need to hit it to ten feet. I'm thinking, let's hit it the 30 feet, give ourselves a look, two put it and move on. We just gained half a shot on the field. So what is the player's championship mean to you? I hate asking that question. It feels super cheesy, but it's gone through a lot of identity, ups and downs, I think, over the years. I've grown more appreciative of it, you know, over the years, but just straight up for you. What is the player's championship mean? Yeah, I think it's our championship. As you could say, but I think it's one of those events that you get done with your career and you look back and a win at that tournament means a lot. It feels like a major. Just atmosphere and how it plays on the weekend and when it gets firm and fast and it's one of those events that every guy looks forward to, everybody wants to win the player championship. And so I think it's funny that you say it's changed over the years, but yeah, I think it's becoming more and more.

"Who finished first is greater than the distance between speed to finish fourth and bubble finished tent. Like essentially, the standings get extremely, extremely tight. The difference between like Brooks Koepka had 8 and John ramit 9 is like, frankly, if John rom would have won a major, I think he's going to have more headlines to come out and he's going to have a higher Q score. He did win a major. Another major. You know, his Google searches are going to be higher. And he's going to suddenly probably earn 500,000 more dollars via the pip. So it gets super tight and when Colin Morikawa, if what he alleged is correct, finished 11th, I'm sure he is extremely close to bubba Watson. If Morikawa has a TikTok account, that might be that might literally be enough for him to get into the that might be enough. And so maybe there's a takeaway for some of those guys. A lot of it might be, hey, play better. Hey, come on. Well, sort of, but this is my biggest takeaway. All right, let's run through the top ten in the world right now. John rom, number one in the world, barely squeaked onto the top ten on the list. Number two, Colin Morikawa, number three, Victor hovland number four Patrick cantlay number 5 Scottie scheffler. All shut out. Rory McIlroy obviously on there. Number 7, Xander schauffele, not on there. Then you have JT DJ Cameron Smith and Hideki ten and 11. Not in the top ten of the pip. So it's not a direct correlation to recent good play. It's more of like a career achievement award for being a famous golfer. That's how it feels to me. Yeah, I don't think you're wrong, but there's definitely room for other people. To move up the rankings. What would you do? Would you change this was a question on tour confidential tonight? Would you burn it up? It's easy to say, yeah, let's get rid of this. This thing's dumb. But I get the reason it exists. A little bit. We need to get back into this. This exists as a way to funnel money to golfers who are good for the PGA Tour essentially,.

"Brooks is really damn damn good, but the guy that you need to look out for is my other client Scottie scheffler. Scottie was ranked outside the top 1400 in the world at that point. He was 14. 80. And he had shown that he can hang on like tough golf courses and long golf courses. When he contended for like a half minute at Aaron hills, oddly enough, the one that Brooks also won, so it's a good week for the agent Blake Smith, but yeah. It was like, okay, I believe you, I guess, you got to ride for your guy, Scottie scheffler. I'm sure he's going to be pretty good. But Scottie had stayed four years in college. This is a guy who got his degree and he's a Dallas kid. He's from Jersey, which is, you know, I think he gets a lot of credit for being able to play courses that are tough. Texan. As if he was a Texan, but he's actually from Jersey. So I don't know if that means anything, but he feels like he, gosh, if you're a top 5 player in the world, you have to become half of a favorite to win a major, right? We get dudes pinging into the top 5 left and right these days. I mean, think about the people that have visited that spot the last few months, you get Patrick cantlay was popping in there, Victor hovland is there to stay. It seems like calling Morikawa of course jumped to number two and almost to number one. Now Scottie scheffler is in there, Rory was back in there for a hot minute. The top 5 feels, it just feels like there's a ton of changeover. I'm just surprised looking at Scottie scheffler's stats that the weakest part of his game is is driver. This year, our FedExCup leader, Sean. As he was reminded right after winning. Number one in the FedExCup. Thanks mostly to everything else besides his tea game. Technically that dude could become the number one player in the world if he wins at Sagar ass. That's crazy. Yeah. Don't think it's going to happen. Crazy if it did. The number one player in the women's game. Can we talk about her? Yeah, just a couple more little fun nuggets, like the fact that tyrol Hatton shut 78 on Saturday and still finished T two. Pretty sick. I think there were two rounds in the 60s on Sunday. Juan blanched material hat and who shot 69 moved up from 12th to second. The other belonged to Lucas Herbert, who moved from 33rd to T 7, pretty meaningful for.

"Not Patrick can't lay. That was, I'd say that was the biggest surprise of the day is Patrick cantlay vanished. I mean, rips driver to about 50 yards on like, okay, he's gonna have a really good look at birdie here on ten. Maybe this is Patrick cantley's day. No, it felt like not least. He was 300 through 6. It's a pretty good tee shot at 7 at that point. He's at 17 under. All I need to do is just sort of play it into the house, make a couple birdies on par 5s, take care of business, but instead he plays two over the rest of the way. Two is credit. He scared a bunch of cups. I mean, he was just rolling it over edges, but he mostly just played fairly uninspired golf. A lot of contention for Patrick can't lay early in this PGA Tour season. Not a lot of winning. And look, man, the drops on is all about trends. Patterns recognizing what's happening before people take notice of it. Patrick Hanley is either going to break through and win a big tournament soon or this lack of winning, put a little chink in the armor. That's all I'm saying. I mean, that's tough seeing as this is his third tournament that he's played since the church championship. And that doesn't include the rider cup. He finished fourth at the tournament of champions 9th at the AmEx and now what was he forth again here? T four, a lot of not winning. Hey, you know what? A couple weeks ago, you asked me is John rom, not a closer. I wanna return that on you. A Patrick cantlay stand and say, is Patrick can't lay? Not a closer. I would not say that. I would say today was felt more like a glitch in the matrix than something we should expect going forward. I mean, how would Jordan Spieth since Jordan Spieth's last victory in 2020? I'm not going to get out here and call speed closer. Look at that from me. Here's why I think here's what I think Spieth gets a pass and all this stuff. Watching speed that still feels like a borderline miracle that he's just there in contention. He makes it look so difficult to be there that we're just we're just sort of impressed that he's in the mix. And so when he finishes second on a day like today, it's like, oh, man, I mean, wouldn't accomplish accustomed to him essentially playing along the edge of a cliff with his golf game. He was not good at Torrey pines. He's really good. Again, this week, he might not be that good. This coming week, I don't even know if he's playing in the Phoenix open. We've grown accustomed to him not necessarily closing things out smoothly. So you know what he is right now? This era of Jordan Spieth is he is electric on a PGA Tour Saturday. That's kind of like where the last year has put him. You know, he's just going to that's not good though. He's going to suddenly be like 8 under through 13 on Saturday and go from the middle of the pack to right in the mix. That's kind of his brand at the second, which is pretty impressive. Definitely good for the shield. But yeah, but I kept thinking today, you know, he does some esque things, and people talk for years and decades now about what sav did as a golfer..

"I'm feeling a little conflicted Dylan because last week, on this podcast, I said, you know, it's okay that will sell a Taurus lost because Luke list needed to get that victory. He needed to get his first win. Luke list was going to get his master's invite. Will zell tors is going to he's going to win and contend sometime later this year most likely. I think the same goes for speed, but I didn't feel the same way. I felt like, you know what? Screw Tom hoagie. I'm okay with Jordan Spieth winning. Am I a hypocrite? No, you're not a hypocrite because Jordan Spieth is not wills all Torres. When you're watching Jordan Spieth, try to win at pebble beach, you're watching something special. You get the feeling that you are, you're in the right place. You know, you're glad not to be watching the Pro Bowl, for example. If you're watching Tom hoagie win at pebble beach, maybe it's too late to say no offense to Tom hoagie. But it doesn't elevate the event in the same way. When we had Jordan Spieth and Patrick cantlay in what looked like it was potentially going to be a two man battle near the end of the front 9. When it looked like it was those two guys dueling for the win, this event started to feel big. I know the talent was not there. The field was pretty weak, but when it's those two guys on that golf course, it starts to feel like a big event. When it's a Tom hoagy coronation coming down the 18th hole when you've got both types of bow hosler stocks come on, bow hit the green from 200 and when you got boha than just juicing bunker shots past the pin and three putting for bogey. It came to a bit of a thud of a conclusion after just some heart racing action over the last really day and a half. Yeah, day and a half meaning, inclusive of speech Saturday in which everyone and their mother freaked out about the approach that he hit into I think the 8th hole, is that right? He had hit his the atoll, yes. Jack Nicholas called it the greatest approach shot in all of golf. Yeah. And there was Jordan Spieth. His favorite par four, I believe in the world. Maybe his favorite golf ball in the world..

"At the PGA tour victories for Tiger Woods from two thousand data moving on had four in two thousand and eight the most memorable one the U. S. open with the playoff up against Rocco mediate then in two thousand and nineteen had six victories Arnold Palmer invitational the memorial tournament A. T. and T. national the Buick open at the world golf championships at the Bridgestone invitational and the BMW championship that in two thousand and twelve three victories Arnold Palmer memorial tournament at A. T. and T. national then in two thousand and thirteen had five victories you start to think he's coming back then a lot more did transpire did not have another went until twenty eighteen and have a lot of injuries as well that in twenty eighteen how does get that tour championship victory where you saw the crowds that day and I was even watching the Scott van pelt version of it on ESPN this must've been three weeks ago four weeks ago maybe where you get the the roar of the crowd back in M. and just as those crowds at a golf event and how they were following tiger in that absence of five years to get that victory was really something and then in two thousand and nineteen we know we get the ultimate redemption story when he does when the masters in which was a great and I mean a great tournament not only because tiger wins and we all know home that's the Utes story line Tiger Woods winning but you see that field and that day and you look at the final leader board and what that event ended up being yes you remember it with tiger but the amount of movement that you did have in that final day and they move that toward emit up early that final Sunday because of the weather at Augusta to squeeze it in and I actually remember I was doing a weekend overnight Saturday into Sunday and I had to tape some interviews because for this weekend overnight shifts to take a lot of the interviews and I remember that I was taping an interview early in the morning and I slept in the office at three forty five Hudson street and I and I slept in that office and there was a TV in the office I go into the interviews and miss about like a a hole or two and then I watched the rest of the tournament at three forty five lots and street and that was such a powerful rise and return of Tiger Woods because even though tiger has won tournaments since the scandal he did not win a major and that's the standard of success for Tiger Woods is winning those majors and I always several people say aw come on Zac how do you say he's back well he's not back in telling one that major and then we did see him when that major that's you proclaim Tiger Woods to be back that that final field I'll give you the the top you know golfers that were in there you know and I'll go through this this less tiger finished one Xander sharply and Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka finished tied for second hi Dan for fifth Jason day website as soon Francesco Molinari and Tony fino then Jon Rahm Patrick Cantlay Rickie Fowler Bubba Watson Justin Thomas Justin Harding Matt coucher any importer that is that is some finish and then left the Adam Scott we're in the top now we're tied for eighteenth as well who that that is some finish really is some Venice and I think I said I mean our earlier it was Francesco Molinari excuse me who had the who had the lead and then on the back nine my name in corner I did have his his problems because with what he was doing you thought he was going to win the tournament especially with what happened on the the front nine if memory serves me right and then on the back nine that that's where he he he got into some trouble really one of the all time great tournaments it's up there in a in a top three masters of of all time and and some say it's number one you know it's it's tough to rank those things as Molinari led for fifty four holes at the masters
