"Slash blue eye. Said much love, you actually give me something to look forward to every day and I'm all in favor of Patrick Beverly as a backup for Kyrie. It allows Reeves to start. Well, thank you. First of all, very, very much for the kind words. Favorite Patrick Beverly is back up for Kyra. He'd be great. That'd be fantastic. That'd be a great fit. As the backup for Kyrie Irving. So if you get a Kyrie deal done, let's say THT is not in the Cairo deal. I think it becomes more attractive to move THT Ford Patrick Beverly. And I'm not saying the jazz will do that, but I'm saying, if both sides are in agreement on that, it's an easier yes, I think if you're the Lakers, if Kyrie is on the team, then if Russell Westbrook's on the team, because if you have bras, that means you probably didn't move Kendrick nunn, right? So you've already got a couple of guards there. Plus you got LeBron's going to handle the ball, but if it's Kyrie and Kendrick nunn got put into a deal, Patrick Beverly makes a lot of sense because you need somebody who can defend and shoot threes. That's all you're looking to put around star players, right? These guys who can defend and shoot threes, ideally, bigger wings that can do that and I still don't think the Lakers have enough of that. But if you've got Kyrie Patrick Beverly makes a lot of sense as your backup point guard, I would like that a lot. Mark, pull up Corleone, said, oh man, finally got a live stream, I was that dude saying, with Damien Jones, since they didn't pick up his two way contract, I'm glad he's back. Well, glad you were able to make it onto a live stream. And yes, I am also glad that he is back. The Lakers, from what I understand, the Lakers were frustrated. See, they made the move to get Andre Drummond. They had Damien Jones, he was pretty good. They didn't sign him long-term because they made the move to get Andre drummer, at least for the remainder of that season. They made the move to get Andre Drummond. They promised Drummond he was going to start and all of that. And obviously we know the way that played out. But they had hoped and I think part of the reason why they weren't interested in bringing drumming back is because they planned to go back to Damien Jones. They didn't think the kings were going to pick up his option. But then they did, and they surprised the Lakers, and that's why the Lakers wound up signing Deandre Jordan. The plan last off season was not Deandre Jordan. It was Damien Jones. So what they did this off season is essentially right that wrong. By finally bringing Damien Jones back into the fold. I think last year they recognized their mistake letting him go and they regretted it and they tried to undo it, but the kings picked up the option on Damian Jones. Now they finally, over a year later, get to fix that mistake and bring them back in.

"LeBron is really the de facto point guard. A lot of the time. That's a lot. That's a lot of ball handlers that you've brought in to where you question whether or not the need is actually there. So the Lakers interests and Patrick Beverly makes me wonder, is there something else that they've got lined up for one or more of the current ball handlers on the roster? Maybe it is just a straight swap with THT and then he's out and Patrick Beverly comes in, but even then that's three point guards. Do you have on your roster plus LeBron? Maybe there is something where none goes out and kairi's coming in and Russell is going out. Interesting. Skill set wise, it's a fit, but in terms of need at this moment, the way the roster currently is, you don't really need that position. So we'll be interesting to see how the Lakers ultimately approach that. Of course, you can also question how much do they really trust Kendrick nunn to be there and to be involved for the whole season? We didn't see him at all last season, save for the preseason didn't play a single regular season game. But on paper, he could be a fit for the Lakers if he is back to 100% healthy. Some people are commenting saying, if Patrick Beverly gets bought out, I'm in. I think that if you're the jazz, you're going to get anything for him, you can before you buy him out. If you're looking to reload, you're looking to rebuild, you're going to take a second round pick. And somebody's going to offer that. Somebody's going to offer a second round pick. Somebody might even offer a first. It's protected. That could happen. So if you're the jazz, the last thing you're going to do is buy them out. You're not going to just jump straight to a bio because I think somebody would give something for Patrick Beverly. I think it would have to be a trade. Said, we got to pull the Kyrie trade before the nets make a trade of Simmons and stuff for spider and convince KD and Kyrie to stay. Now that's the other part of this when we're talking about the nets. We're talking about the Lakers. Each side waiting to see who blinks. The nets are also hoping that maybe they can tell Kevin Durant, look, there's no trade out there right now that we like. In fact, the nets have put out this strong push. We saw it in the New York Post last night. This strong push to convince everybody that they're just going to say, you know what? We don't like your trades. We're bringing everybody back. We don't care. Kevin Durant requested a trade. Don't care. Four years under contract, we're running it back. Let's go. That's what the nets are putting out there. Right now. They're using it as a threat. And look, it's a pretty good one, right? Because if you look at this nets roster with KD with Kyrie, you can say this could be a contender in the Eastern Conference. Without a doubt, they're good.

"Is this kiss kind can actually be a winning player like an all mba caliber player on a winning team. Or is it really just when it's what it's like. Sixteen people watching him in minnesota in february and i was wondering if you really wanted to supercharge that franchise and set it on a new direction. You kinda give up the the most prized possession. It would be such a tough call to make. And there's there's the basketball part of that which is what are you giving up. Or what are you getting back for towns. That's good and young enough that it's aligning with edwards. That's gonna to fit whatever the new vision of your team is and then there's the human part of it too. Which is you know. Like towns is undergone incredible personal tragedy in recent years probably more directly affected by kovic than any player in the nba or at least as much as any player in the nba. The franchises tr- tried to support him through all that. Obviously you know there's just a different element to that and saying you know over the last couple of years and everything you've gone through now we're gonna flip you somewhere else now if towns wants that if you want it out. It's a different conversation. I meant it more in like kind of like. What if what if they came together. And we're like let's do. Let's do each other a favor here like this is gonna take another two seasons for us to get good at which i don't carl carl's got like what two years left three years left on that extension. He's got a bit left. Which is i mean that would be. If you're minnesota. I think the reason to just keep kind of trying to plug away and figure something out He has towns at so many fans in the league in terms of other teams other people who think really highly of him. There certainly the questions that you raise like. Is this guy really a winning player. Is he really somebody who can fit in. This context context. What kind of defender can he be. What does he. What does he really look like on a championship level team. Those are all really valid questions. But trading towns feels like a way to get stuck in that middle ground elliott. Words might be that kind of score where he gets you so far but only so far towns whatever you may think of him is a transformational type of player now if you can actually follow through and transform the way that his talent promises is a different question. But he's the kind of player who if i were running that team fight any kind of input on that team that you hold onto him as long as you possibly can and try to make it work because he feels like exactly the kind of guy who if you trade him if you signed somewhere in free agency is going to go on to do some pretty great things somewhere else. Yeah you're i mean you make really good points. I i think i was sort of for a second is just like i wonder if the lillard lillard putting himself into the trade market whether it was surreptitiously. You're because because he actually meant for that to happen and have those trade requests. Come out or have that. Like soft demand cabal. It just made me think a little bit about towns. Because i was like would you wouldn't downs. Be like a almost if you could put together a pack for towns with simmons. I wouldn't that be maybe a more modern player to get in than lillard like lillard. Embiid is obviously early. Seductive idea role for all these different things but like stretching the floor with a four like. That is pretty incredible. Now i don't know what it would take to pry loose from minnesota. I would imagine like a lot of picks to minnesota would be like. Yeah please like why. Don't you send us your your sort of superstar with flaws and we'll send you our superstar with flaws. But i was waiting for one of these teams to do something really really out of the box. Well here's the thing with the wolves and towns if you're if you're sitting there with him you have this experience with him. You know kind of where his game is. You've drafted anthony edwards. Who's pretty good. And it ultimately has not really meant anything for your franchise yet. You haven't gotten anywhere word that you traded for diangelo. Russel hasn't really moved the needle at all in terms of where that franchise wants to be. Now you're making these kinds of moves like okay. Well let's get some veteran helping. Get the pat beverly's of the world in the door. We'll see how much that really changes for them. I'm kind of thinking you know he'll. He'll fill a role he'll be it'd be a nice ad for them Fill some of what ricky rubio was giving or could have given them if that had panned out a different way in his latest. Stay with minnesota. But he's not. He's not changing that team. He's not elevating them as we've been talking about into a surefire playoff team or anything like that and so if you've made all of these categories of moves for talent at different levels and it hasn't done anything for yet you do have to start asking those kinds of questions like what do what do we have to do to the team here. Yeah exactly art man. Well look we talked about karl. Anthony towns the golden state warriors. The boston celtics with jalen and jason and we talked about all these different teams. Because that's who. The patrick beverley trades touch. So it's always interesting like i. I don't remember a week like this. Where a guy got traded twice. But it's fascinating when these like fourteen million dollar deals. I think like we were talking before the pod started about like this being the most tradeable contract is this weird the guys who were fourteen either expiring or maybe one year left and they have a lot of lots of offer a team in the right situation but are also incredibly tradable and we saw the half of this week with pat beverley. Yeah just useful enough that a team like the wolves would want him and just limited enough that he only makes so much that his salary is just totally movable on the nba trade market rod. Thank you so much for joining me this week. Of course it was nice to scrap for content with today. I'll feel like we did him proud. Joke your dog bit. We'll talk to you..

"Let's talk a little about minnesota before we go so minnesota is. I think everybody looks at them. And they're like you're actually not even as good as memphis shit clearly clearly not as good as yeah right but are behaving like they're the bulls like they're like that they are like they're like making moves to like ready themselves for the playoffs. I look at the west. I just can't see it not can't see them getting in there. Unless finch with an off season an aunt edwards with off season and you know the continue maturation of of towns or whatever like unless. There's something there that i don't see pat beverley being like we're going to beverly as the the edge that we needed to get i i i just don't see it with them well. They're behaving like a team. That has had one winning season in sixteen years. Yes you know that. That's and that's the trade off you know if you go the memphis route and you're kinda reshuffling and rebuilding and trying to get to a certain level of competence and then be patient that can sustain you for longer. you know. some people will get antsy. Fans will want you to make trays or fire. Whoever trade this guy or whatever that's fine but it's just more palatable to be at that level than to be where the wolves have been which is in some cases dysfunctional in some cases. Just bad This this to in lately injured. I think has been one of their big problems. They just need to get their guys on the florida. Even see how good they are so they have a long way to go. Yeah i you know. The it's worth noting. That gomez and culver both left with a really bad taste in their mouth about the franchise. So culver i think just was never getting really inconsistent minutes. Although i don't necessarily think is play warranted and hernan gomez. I hadn't even heard about this. Like super weird like he wanted to play in the olympics. The wolves were like. You're not it far enough into your medical rehab your shoulder to do it. He thought that they had like kind of an agreement to let him play and he was in the opening ceremony. And then they were like you're not supposed to play. And he tried going over rose's head to There's a really good article about disney athletic. But like basically tried to go straight to. Glenn taylor glenn taylor was like i'm not overruling roses and he was just like i want out outta here. I feel like that's the kind of thing that happens when you have like a y'all lot of young players a lot of money on the line around and they're not necessarily getting the direction that they need early in their career. I have no doubt that finch vinci like a really good coach and they They did show some really cool flashes in the second half the season once that leveled out. But not the kind that where you're like. Man saver for the for the timber wolves in the plane game. Even we haven't given him anything to play for yet if you're watching hernan gomez. If you're looking at my i wanna play for the national team or i'm gonna come back and play a role for the wolves the national team's gonna away that as it does even you know even if the wolves were good. There are a lot of guys especially coming from europe. Who that's that's their. Pride is playing for their national team. And when you lower the bar on the other side to say okay you're gonna come back and maybe if you try really hard to play really well. You're going to be in the play in tournament. Those aren't exactly equivalent x. In terms of your exercising the cost of those things i can totally understand why hernan gomez who you know aside from cornering the adam sandler market and i'm looking forward to enroll in that. This is kind of where he is at this point in his career trying to figure out who is an nba player. Trying to where he fits into all this. Maybe he can fit into a more with memphis. The new with minnesota. But i think you're right that the wolves for a team that's in their position that's been you know a lowly team pretty bad team. They just haven't figured out a way to even make sense of the young talent they have yet. That's that's not a great place to sit And some of that. Some of that comes down to injury. Some of it comes down to redundancy your bad luck or a lot of things have broken against them but they they just have so much sort out before they can become a good team. Pat beverley feels like he might help in some ways but maybe he's kind of skipping a step before they get the real issue sorted out. I want to end this podcast in galaxy mode. If that's okay please. If you're gershon roses and you haven't been good in. You've missed the playoffs for all these years. You've been kind of an nba punchline for awhile is what if you just like go out there and try and get the best deal possible for towns like i saw that they were thinking that there was some stuff around. Patrick beverley is a perfect addition for this proposed. Ben simmons trade. And i guess there has been some talk about like a three way deal. I mean there's nothing that minnesota has like dangelo. Russell and patrick. Beverley is not gonna be. Ben simmons trade package. I think that the sixers rather just go. Try again with simmons. If that came to that but was kind of looking around like edwards. And if you think anthony edwards is is that guy like what what could you get right now for towns. Because he's so. I think he's almost like the nba forgotten. Men like he's just been wiling away on not unlike kevin love putting up great stats a bad team in minnesota for years now and you start to wonder whether or not the page turns a.

"I was thinking of when you're talking is charlotte who you are artists. Similar situation in so much like they've got this guy lamelo in lamelo who could be generational good or it could be somewhat of a thrill to watch but isn't necessarily going to get you to the promised land and then they they made some really nice pixelbook nights cool like i think that they have a lot of really good young players it whether or not they can resist bringing on the more expensive veterans. Like which i think has been sometimes their achilles heel is like it they overestimate where they are and think bringing seventeen zeller brothers to is gonna take them over the top mountain and then indiana's also in a similar situation. I think where. I like different players on their team. But i don't think that that combination of guys is is going to get them much more than sixty one in charlotte to i mean just this morning. Reportedly got an extension with terrorism for years. Max ninety seven million dollars which goes exactly what you're saying which is teams in this position whether they feel like they have to or they just misjudge or whatever it is they need to pay sometimes to keep these guys even if it's just because we can't afford to lose terry rozier because we don't have means to replace him as the charlotte hornets but the pacers are definitely in that camp. They're kind of on the other side of it almost where they've had to start paying their guys. They really had to pay big. Bring malcolm malcolm brogdon in the door and now you're looking at this saying where do we go from here. How do we turn this into something. That's sustainable and maybe maybe carlisle makes something more of that than they've had. We'll have to wait and see on that but they seem like a team that's poised to make some kind of trade at some point just to make sense of their rossier trying to trade miles Turner for like two years and therein lies the problem. You know it's like you you might hold onto as many guys as you can. And all these young guys that you like and kinda like. But they don't quite fit together and then you get stuck in these positions Or your you're like the bulls who ops into this position where you're paying to get so many guys in the door and they are kind of nightmare scenario. Is this like we don't make the playoffs. But we're not really good enough to improve You know you could see that happening. If everything breaks the wrong way you could also see them. Being a pretty good at least regular season team may be a decent playoff team off to see and i think the uncharitable view of the celtics would probably put them in this category interesting. They're kind of between these first. Two classes you know the the optimistic view of the celtics is there like the clippers. They're young they're flexible. They had this elite talent and jason. Tatum jalen brown. You know if we're gonna look at them a little more pessimistically you would say. They have their guys. They're locked into a certain amount of money. I don't know how they're going to crack the top. Four or five east without a dramatic move even if they make a dramatic move. What is the ballast for doing that. Like who is. Who is the player. Who's going to get you brad beal. That's not going to get your team in the process. Yeah i mean that that next free agency class coming up is is not something that i would. I is not something to write home about the next the next one. And this bill trade this mystical deal trade this the right word but the lifelong friendship between tatum and bill. That's supposed to bring bring build a boston. Look at i. I'm speaking from a perspective of somebody who's just like one of these days. Neil shaves just going to be like sure. Here's damian lillard for this. I think that you put your eggs in these baskets and and you wake up one day. And you're the knicks i mean. Wake up one day and realize it's been seven years of of hoping for a star player to come to your team. And i don't know i agree with you. There is like a glass half empty version of the celtics. That's like these is can't score. Dennis schreuder is your starting point guard on a contract year making much less money than he thought he was. Gonna make and yeah. I don't know. I think that's that's an interesting place to put boston. This episode is brought to you by disney plus disney plus hulu. Espn plus stream all your favorites with the disney bundle. "Somebody who's probably more in that zone where i could the new orleans going for. Kyle our in chris. Paul to me was not ridiculous. Like for as much as it may. D david griffin may have been diluted about it. I don't think that's crazy to go. Play with brandon ingram zion williamson like that. That seems like you go there. And if you're kyle our team up with those guys like that's a that's definitely a least a mid tier playoff team immediately. Maybe not a phoenix team. But it's it's pretty good whereas with memphis. I don't know what you can be. If you're the veteran next to john rant and jaren jackson junior does that sound right it does. I mean i think what they're banking on. Eventually when they do have their opportunity to trade for a guy to sign a gun free agency whatever that looks like given their situation at that time. They're looking for kind of like the sensible veteran who likes our culture in sauce in the play offs and things jobs really good but not like the star. Who's gonna complete our team. And so that's why they're they have to swing with some of these picks they have to go for higher upside guys but the good news is they've just been really good at drafting so far and so they can get even mid to late. I if they can get any kind of draft equity if they thought culver was a guy who is worth looking at to me that says there probably is something that's worth looking at so now they have really cool young players. They have some really good very inexpensive young players. Like the baynes and the brooks's Then they've got good contract. Make weights like stephen adams. And i do wonder whether i'm sure. These gems are aware of this. But part of what's happened with the phenomenon of star players. Maybe dictating where they wanna go play before their contracts are up and saying like Not only do i want trade but here are the places i would accept the trade to is that. That's not gonna be memphis in all likelihood unless unless jaw does turn into a a little lillard level good player who is single handedly able to get you to a five or four seat and when lillard is out of his mind like can get the blazers to conference finals when things break right for them but even then who's been angling to go to portland right exactly exactly like it's like the carmelo's it's picking up a covington. It's nurkic because denver you know. It's like they're not getting like a stud. They got norm powell but they gave up. Gary trent and i think that that's exactly right. So if you're memphis you have all these assets you're going to have to start paying these guys like jira actually really think that like any of these pieces become become the formula to get a star or you really hoping that lake. Maybe we can get wiggins something like that like. Maybe we can get like a guy. Just outside that all-star range well i think the formula would be if we get enough of these good young players together and by the time somebody becomes available. All these young players happen to be twenty three twenty four twenty five still in that kind of young core range. Maybe can package enough of them together that it starts look attractive to some team. Yeah and you know. That's not an unreasonable thing to want to ask him to plan for along with the fact that we just don't know how good jaren jackson junior is gonna be yet. He's probably the highest upside piece. Here where gye. I think we have a pretty good idea of what his game is gonna look like of where his strengths and weaknesses are jackson's been so injured. He's been kind of underwhelming on defense since he's come into the nba but he has so much potential given his size as mobility. If you want to relieve your yeah that's like the golden ticket right. I yeah my curiosity is just. I think about this a lot with oklahoma where it's just like okay. So now you have like twenty-five frigging first round pick and shea and i loved that rumor about them trying to go to detroit and say like take shea and a couple of first rounders because we want that bad you know whether that was true or not i. I don't know if like any any player is gonna say yeah cool. I'll do that. i'll go. I'll go play with these. I'll go play for these guys in your oklahoma's seems to be doing these deals Whether it's for the horford's of the cameras and knowing that established our players are not gonna wanna stay very long and. I think that they've actually turned themselves. You know i'm in memphis is the better example of like you'd like to see a team have a young core but also like remained remain very competitive while they're taking on the stephen adams's of the world whereas oklahoma is like yeah. We're just going to be this like incredibly weird collection of like suicide squad. International prospects with shay and then we're gonna tank at the end of the year so that we can get back in the lottery and and not not a deflate the value of our own assets psych. Kill which one. I think is better. I mean i know either way. I don't think either way like you're going to get started. Go to one of those teams. The memphis model shows. Just how difficult this stuff can be where they hit on jaw. They at least somewhat hit on jaren jackson junior and they still might end up kind of stuck in the middle where they're having trouble really climbing into into the top levels of the western conference at some point. That's where you really do get in trouble especially if you're one of these smaller market teams in memphis is one of the smallest markets in the nba. I think what what they have going that other small markets don't and oklahoma city also has is going in their favor is that patients is the thing that they're looking at their team and saying we're willing to take this at a different speed than some of these other franchises might whereas other teams are trading for veterans. Who aren't on their timetable are making moves. They don't quite line up with where you know where and how they're young players are going to be good. They're betting that jock can be that kind of talent and they can make up the difference in the draft and make up the difference with some of these moves on the edges. I think that's an understandable thing for them to do given where they are given how good they already are they just. They need a little bit of help from one of these guys and we'll have to see if whether it's you know whether it's jackson or whoever you know kinda hits in a much bigger way yeah i mean i'm fascinated by some some of the other smaller market teams..

"Russel because they saw him being part of their core and then basically traded him as soon as they could for the next reasonable deal. They could get so. I would take everything. They say about their young prospects with a grain of salt. I'm sure they like those guys. I'm sure they envision a certain future with them but if the right player becomes available there are going to jump at that opportunity. And they're the team that i'm watching this group for sure because you know for a franchise with this high of expectation that just two teenagers in the draft. Are they really patient enough to stick it out if things start going sideways if they get into january or february without clay. They're kind of bordering on the bubble kind of area for the western conference. Are draymond steph. Really going to be cool saying let's ride this out. Let's see how we are healthy going into the playoffs and not try to get more veteran helping there. That's that's a big ask for those guys. Yeah the two things. I thought were no worthy this week. Were obviously commingle popped a bit at summer league and i was thinking about. Never underestimate like the hubris of a billionaire who who had a lot to do with the draft pick you know like perhaps you're right like like lake of is out there selling his wares and we love commingle. We think coming as mazing but he was not shy about being like i was involved in the commingle pick like i had dinner with commingle before redrafted. Him and i could see him being like no. This dude is the future of the franchise. So unless i'm getting somebody who i know will put us right back in that k. d. zone like i'm i may not. He may be lows to move off of them because for him. It's like his guy. You know what. I mean like a lot of these dudes before our our our the previous administrations draft picks. Even though they wound up delivering the title to to the warriors. So it's it's an interesting situation. And then the other sort of wrinkle with the warriors thing. And i don't know how much weight i put on this. But obviously a lot of people talking about this Katie draymond podcast. Up chips this week and i wouldn't like overreact. I'm sure a lot of the stuff that they've sat on that podcast stuff. That was that steve. Kerr bob myers joe glaze over the warriors. Folks were aware of. But i was kind of like yeah. They like the warriors front office and coaching coaches fucked up. The katie relationship fucked up are like spat that there was like that was that didn't necessarily send katie out the door but that it was a sign of things to come and that was like one of the first times i think i've heard draymond specifically kind of roll his eyes publicly at the team. Did you get that impression as well. Oh yeah but. I don't think that's the first time. Especially with steve. Kerr i think he tends to roll his eyes quite a lot. But i mean those conversations were definitely interesting i think they both put a perspective on it. They hadn't before it also felt like two guys like trying to shy away from blame in that entire situation saying oh no we argued but it was their fault for punishing him a wrong way or yeah i mean if if all that matters is as they said getting back together in the room the two of them and hashing it out. Then why didn't they hash it out right right. I mean maybe steve kerr was like what do you want me to do about this. You guys had a fight like it was interesting that they invoked scottie. Pippen in that conversation and was like steve. Kerr played with scottie pippen. I'm sure he's aware of what it was like to play with jordan. Scottie visited various points. Anyway like i thought that that was a i remain like so up and down the warriors because these fluctuations happen where you kind of go into it and you talk yourself into like splash. Brothers or back it would all is back. Wiegand is more comfortable. wiseman year to these rookies. Look great they fill out the roster in a really smart way and then you could just like step two feet to the left and be like. Oh this team. Isn't that good. This seems a lot. Like what happens if steph. Six weeks for some reason like they're they're it's a nightmare. I mean they're going to be smarter team for sharp. They're going to be a better three point shooting team. They're just more capable in terms of you know as we were time on the fringes. They've reloaded in a really smart way. But that only gets you so far. If you don't have dynamic shot chretien with steph if it becomes to easy to load up on steph or as you're saying you know god forbid what happens. If he gets hurt at some point this season you'd figure things out on the fly under pressure against some of the best teams in the western conference. I think we're asking a lot of this team very quickly especially when we don't know when claes coming back which i'm kind of expecting as you mentioned twenty twenty two going into you know late winter early spring is maybe when we see him if not back on the floor at least back on starting to get back on the floor in a way. That actually looks like klay thompson again. Yeah i agree with you. So let's go to the second team. Patrick beverley was with this week. The memphis grizzlies. Who i gotta admit. I don't really chat a lot about. Because i believe that verno on the nba other nba feet. But i have to say that they find themselves in this incredibly weird place where they are kind of this way station for other teams bad contracts and like in a in a perpetual rebuild but also clearly one of the smarter teams out there and at least one of the best developmental programs in the nba. Like hands down like you can't argue with that. I don't really know like you said you alluded to this in the beginning of the podcast. Like why are they getting into this. Patrick is is it because they thought they they had this covert deal lined up. Is it because culver as number six. Pick at that kind of taking a flyer on a guy who was obviously very disenchanted A v very unhappy. Im- minnesota is just like a no brainer into their model of of how they want to build the team. I mean i guess if they didn't already have it lined up. They had a strong suspicion. That could get something like this. Which is we're going to trade him to a team that that wants to get better. That's trying to improve the season and they're going to send us. You know their draft guy who didn't quite work out who rates willie really well by our models and we think could be an nba player. That's probably the range they were gunning for. Especially when you're talking about you know the the precursor to this was the trade. They made with new orleans in the first place where they were trying to move up in the draft in the unicef Stephen adams. Eric bledsoe mess So he get zaire williams out of that and then they're trying to flip these pieces and said okay. What other kind of upside moves. Can we make care. Because that's been kind of what their timeline looks like. What they're you know the way that they're operating as as a team that you know isn't quite secure in what they have yet and rightly so they feel good about the core guys that they have. They feel good about their ability to draft. But they need guys who are gonna push them into that next level. Yeah and i don't know who that is because they're about to pay presumably thereabouts pay jackson they. They've got to get that deal. That extension done either before the end of this off season or they have to wait 'til next season jaaz due for an extension. I think at at the end of this coming season right so he can. He can get his extension then and then so you pay jaren jackson junior. Who's still getting back to to to to where thought he could be after his injury and john. Marin who's amazing but is maybe not in in the zone where you're like guys are going to drop everything to complete with him. Whereas like personally i i would save..

"I. I think that like if he's going to probably going to discover another under leafier it's gonna probably be in l. a. Because in a weird way wise out this season so he'll probably get a couple more opportunities to suit his offensive game than he would in a in another situation right. Yeah i mean there are the level. So the eric bledsoe experience where there's obvious spacing concerns that you mentioned and then there's you know if he's in the desert he somewhat in the desert of his own making because i'm using new orleans like stop defending hard. He stopped buying and he stopped. Being focused is when he's locked in he's a really good defensive player if you have that and he's doing stuff in transition and he has opportunities to drive because other guys can space like they're still the outline of a good player there but he's he has to be bought into what's going on. I think he's going to be a little more bought into this kind of role than what we saw with the pelicans. So for you this trade. And it's like there. Is it possible that you can see this trade as a mild upgrade for the clippers but at the same time also a a little bit of a white flag-waving on their part because clearly is not gonna play. At least for i would guess the regular season and and possibly even deep into the postseason. If you actually just say it's a twelve month injury whenever he actually when from when he suffered it and the utah series and from whenever he got his surgery and when you know now he's resigned his deal but the clippers know that they have qui- under some amount of control now. So is this kind of like if if it's not like a white flag is it like like an eggshell. Flag is like a bone white flag of toby. We can get into the maybe the second round. If we're really lucky. Or maybe we. I've seen some people think like the clippers are are in danger of being a play in game team but do. Do you think that this is a way for them to get some money off their captors to reduce their their luxury tax by thirty million dollars and to kind of just like settle everything down as they go into the season. I mean it definitely an acknowledgement of something of of some of that and at the same time like i mean. It's basically like an eric. Bledsoe gap year is essentially. Kind of what they're going for here and you can see the. I mean when you have a team that's built basically to play without a traditional point guard and you lose one of the primary kind of unconventional ball handlers. You have in coli. There's just a huge void that needs to be filled there and it's like you could give all that responsibility to rajon. Rondo if you really wanted to wouldn't be my pick clearly it there picky either and they like blood so better for that kind of opportunity and so that's kind of what makes sense is okay. You have bledsoe to fill this clear. Need the you have in your team that suddenly emerged from allies injury. And at the same time you create a trade exception that you could use. You couldn't use depending on how your seasons going like. Maybe eight million dollars. Gets you a decent role player. That can help kind of complete your team in the middle not complete but fill out your team in the middle of the season. That's something that could be helpful to them. So we'll see how all these things kinda balance out in the end but in terms of the guys they're sending out and what they're getting back. I just don't see a lot of opportunity. lost here. So the clippers go from being contender last year. We're i think a lot of folks were like if they're healthy. They're going to be incredibly hard to be. I think at their best in the playoffs. I was pretty. I was pretty blown away by what they were capable of like. Even though you never knew what team was gonna show up on any given night. I think once they rounded once they turn a corner that dallas series like at their best. I was i was pretty thrilled with what i saw from them. And then they're going into the season with many of the same players but probably lowered expectations. Maybe not internally. But i think around the league are there any other teams out. There that you think are like in that pretender contender lane like we are. We are sort of disposed to think of them as contenders but in reality they're probably a year away from being a year away. Or maybe they're in the brad beal sweepstakes or maybe they're trying to do some cap work or they've got an injury Are there other teams out there that you think fit into that mold. I mean the nuggets are probably the clearest analog for that right just with jemele murray out you know in the meantime they have to kind of spin their wheels in the same way and just do the best they can so they opted to kind of keep their team mostly together bring jeff green on. What's basically a one year deal. It's a two year deal with a player option for jeff green's who who knows how long ultimately be there but he'll help them in the meantime and they're going to do the best they can. They have the reigning. Mvp nicola yokich. They have a lot of good pieces but as on the playoffs. There's a pretty articulated ceiling in terms of what that group can do without murray. Unless you know. Mike boorda junior pops off. Unless you know one of the other guys on the team really over you know surpasses all reasonable expectations for what they could be. Your some opportunity comes up in the middle of the year to trade for whoever Mary aaron gordon clicks in a different way than he did last season so they they feel like the clearest analog to meet at the clippers but honestly there's there's a lot of teams in this bracket because right now we see a lot of teams kinda going for it. There's less incentive to tank the group right at the plant bubble is pretty thick. But right above that i mean there's six seven teams in each conference trying to talk themselves into the idea that that they're playing for the whole thing. Yeah you know we were talking. I when when you and me and syrah talked a couple of weeks ago we i. I made a under informed by. i think. Useful comparison to the buyer-seller market in baseball and how teams will get to that trey deadline and just sorta say like three games under five hundred and out of the pennant race. All right then like everybody is up for grabs. A are we overperforming. maybe our own expectations. Okay then maybe we'll go get a useful bullpen arm and like another bat like latina bat and the same thing i think might be the case for teams like the clippers. Although i think the clippers are going to have a tougher time making noise this season but boston Even golden state to some extent which i think depending on whether or not you're taking lake bet is word like are in this sort of track development of we've got these three young kids moody weisman commingle but on the other hand we've got the three wise men of of draymond steph and clay claes. I i don't really know if we have like a return date for clay but based on timing might not even be shoot thousand twenty one right like he could theoretically be coming back after christmas because of whenever he injured that reinjured the knee right like he he might not be fully back for a while so the the warriors are maybe some team. That's like yeah. We think we're on our best night among the best teams in the league but we may not have everything lined up right now and we wanna maintain our flexibility. They're tough team to read. Because i one hundred percent. Believe that. Joe lak- wants the warriors to be good forever and once all these young guys they're paying out and wants to build this dynastic superpower but this is also the same franchise swore up down and sideways that.

"Rob mahoney. What's going on chris. What's going on. Not it's it's the dog days of the nba. They said it could be done. They said you can't make nba content in the middle of august and challenge accepted. Because while you. And i are probably having some pretty like low key weeks. You're catching up on peak tv. I'm a. I'm i'm just doing my thing out here. I'm trying to make a really perfect chicken thigh on the grill. Patrick beverley played for three. Nba teams this week. I mean he didn't play. But so sunday he was a clipper by the end of the day he was traded to the memphis grizzlies. Which if there was ever a team that he should go to that. Embodied patrick beverley qualities as a player and as a person that grit and grind identity that the the grizzlies admittedly left behind somewhat was definitely that and he seemed to embrace that and then on tuesday he was treated again. This time to minnesota. So when he was traded to memphis it was for eric bledsoe he was traded alongside on rondo. And daniela toro. And then he was traded to minnesota for jarrett culver and watch over and go gomez which makes three teams in one week for patrick beverley so he is now a timber wolves and this got me thinking that in some ways. What happened to patrick. Beverley is like a perfect vessel to discuss a bunch of different financial competitive realities in the league. So i wanted to talk to rob about that. This week robe-like. This patrick beverley explained the world like this does the move guy making about fourteen million dollars. And last year of deal of thirty-three-year-old point guard who in a lot of ways his qualities are are are intangible things brings to a team like feist and competitive nature and you know a assumption that he's a great defender. Although i wonder if certain defend defensive analytics suggest otherwise and also like the way in which this contract has now ping pong around the league and and it's meant different things when he's on a different team for twenty four hours what what are. What do you think about this. Patrick beverley movement. That we saw this week would speaks to you. Know the differences in positions that these three teams are in certainly in terms of their competitive timetable. What their needs are what. They're looking for pat. Beverley is interesting because he's one of these players whose theoretically useful to almost anyone. Any team could use a guard. Who's going to get into the ball. Who can hit some threes. Who again as you mentioned can be feisty can be competitive. That's a guy that's useful to a lot of different teams. But he's not so useful that you don't trade him when you wanna shake things up and so that i mean that's what we're seeing. What the clippers in particular and then as we go down this chain you know. I think there are questions as to why the grizzlies participated in that trade in the first place and they became a little clearer. Once they made the second trade with the wolves to get jerry culver in the door take a take a look at him But beverly is the vessel. He's the medium for all of this stuff for understanding all three of these teams understanding a lot of of where the league is for these kind of mid salaried players right now. Yeah like it to to just take take the human factor before we get into the the trade marketing and and the salary ramifications. I will say that at each step in the process. Pat bev is expressed enthusiasm for when reggie jackson recited the clippers. He tweeted yes sir gang back and when he was delta memphis he tweeted grit and grind. Let's go all caps like he seemed psyched for that. And when he finally wound up minnesota he tweeted. Obviously maybe having learned to measure is expectations. Extremely excited let's go all all nor normal capitalization so obviously. I'm sure he's happy to be on a team that wants in minnesota and he's got a relationship with gerson roses like the the over minnesota but this is a guy who like i said in his in his. He's thirty three's in the final year of a three year contract and which will earn fourteen point three million dollars and i want to start by talking about what this means for each team involved because i think given the behavior of each of these teams you can learn a lot about a cluster of teams. That are sort of doing similar things and have done similar things over the offseason. We tend to go into these these Free agency off seasons the trade. The trade off season thinking. Everybody's going for it right. Everybody is is in the market trying to figure out if they have the pieces together. Ben simmons to get bradley beal to get a damian lillard. Do they have the cap space to sign a kyle. Lowry can they do it. And then once all that dust settles. There's a lot of just kind of like i. Would you call expectation setting. Would you call it book cleaning. There's a lot of just like dirty work. That happens at this time of year. So that teams kind of go into to the season. With all their is dot their t's cross-strait yep and you don't want to be caught in a position where you're not able to pivot if you need to. You know if you're in this space you wanna be good enough to give yourself a shot to go into the season to see what what's what with your roster to see if maybe you can over chief a little bit relative to those expectations but if you know things really start to go sideways you wanna have movable contracts you wanna have players who are going to be attractive on the market all those kinds of things. That really feels like what the clippers are doing here. Not only you know. Saving themselves the money in kind of flipping contractor contract. And i think there's there's a basketball value in trading you know pat beverley and rajon rondo for eric bledsoe like there's a reasoning their leasing ostensible reasoning It's not like the reason they're doing this deal per se you know. There's no overwhelming need to make this trade beyond. Let's try something a little different. Let's shake things up on the edges of what we've got going on while kawais out. I think that's kind of been the hallmark of this. Most recent era of clippers team building is the churn around the edges right so when they went from that last sort of irritation of won't sort that the documentation that had no expectations and wound up being like a superfund team. And you and you develop this value for guys like mantras heroin or whatever and then that sliding into the last year and the first hi lou year. I now think that they obviously are just like a lot of our money is tied up and coli and paul george and we are just going to constantly be like moving through players on the outside of those two to to create something. We think is sustainable and viable and dilu- is actually the perfect coach for that kind of philosophy because he's so adaptable because he kind of maximizes everything that he's got around him right. Definitely lose a great fit for exactly that kind of philosophy. And i mean it it helps in terms of. You're gonna go in that direction. None of these guys that they have on the edges have been essential who they are and beverly part of the biggest impact that beverly has on. A game is probably in energy alone just in terms of getting into guys heads getting into the game. I think the clippers are past the point where the rallying behind that with him specifically those days are gone as you mentioned. There was a point where he was this important figure in the organization is towed them for further identity. He's he's not that anymore. Now they have other needs they. You know that that magic has has lost its luster a little bit and they just need a little more juice on the ball. They need somebody who can dribble a little more. If you have a slightly different skill set and so then it makes sense. You know even when you do. Have a coach tyler. Who's going to swap in all these interchangeable parts. Let's give him some different parts to work with and see if the results look any different. Yeah so he gets back bledsoe. Who's obviously a more useful offensive player than rondo. And beverly. obviously he's also been a little bit in the desert like he. He has become kind of like a pin yada for like spacing maniacs in the nba where it's just like you can't have bledsoe on a team. Where like other guys need space and other guys need the ball and that i wonder whether or not he he is kind of reached the end of his rope in the nba..

"It's not crazy right. Yeah we gotta just the way we think about this stuff and you know the roggio thing makes me think because i you know over the course of the last couple of days we've got a lot of feedback and so i do wanna send a shout out to minnesota fans that when we train the train down right before we were about to record and we talked about the jarrett culver and watch and a gomez for and we didn't really cover it from the minnesota side well in large part because we were talking about young prospects in the nba and kover and the fact that he was the number six pick that they traded up to draft jarrett kover and then by virtue of the circumstances his loss of confidence poor play. Whatever you wanna call it you know. They they spent free agent money. I'm a league beasley. They drafted anthony edwards number. One overall. he's eventually you know not productive and at the end of a bench guy. That was very highly thought of not that long ago right and my opinion is was on the surface. That patrick beverley. I know what he brings to a team. I know that he is. He's fourteen million dollar backup point card and you hope that. He has a profound effect on that team. I have my. I wonder because i saw that. What happened with jimmy butler and make no mistake. They are cut from the same cloth and so can he extract. You know a level of fight an attitude or whatever or or is he going to become disenchanted with townsend russell and and anthony edwards and those guys we will see. Hopefully he can have a profound effect on that team. That being said somebody like jerry has played less than one hundred. Nba games and we just had this discussion about terry rozier now. Maybe you're never going to end up being any good possible right. Sometimes that happens with guys but how many times have we talked on this very show about. If we would adjudged a guy through and i was stunned there is not one minnesota fan. That did not absolutely love that trade and could not be even media for it was time for covert ago. No doubt great deal by gerson rosas and.

"Tell me that's guy that i saw that i was like whoa. He's better than where he got drafted and i didn't get to see him enough. I feel badly about it. I'm going to have to go back and try to find some clips in and watch some of it. But i just didn't see much of atlanta for one reason or another. Maybe it's what time their games were. Whatever it may be. I wasn't seeking it out. But i had multiple people. Tell me that they were really impressed with that guy and you know he opted out of the season you know he kinda got dog doubt Even his own team you know for for opting out of the season when he did But he's a talent nonetheless. We knew that coming into college. Of what do you make of that. And the idea that maybe very well. The hawks got one again in the draft. Because i i tell you like i. I wasn't expecting to hear that name but he came up in two different conversations. I have on this mondays ringer. Nba show that would j column man. We talk a bit about the hawks. And like the main point that i made on that show with jalen. Johnson is that the amount of front court versatility that they're going to have now because jalen johnson provides a new element on that team. You got your capellas of the world. You got a rim running presence ilab threat. You have a john collins who's alive threat and shooter now you bring in a you get alcon. Woo versatile defender who can also do some stuff on offense jaylen. Johnson now brings more of a primary ball handler in the front court for you. Someone who maybe you play some small with him at the four no congo at the five. You're switching all screens and doing a bunch of stuff on the defensive end and then on offense jalen johnson. Has you know always been one of those guys who handles the ball. Like passing is his best talent right now at the state of his career but i thought he looked like a more complete player with atlanta during summer league. Then we were able to see at duke. We're able to see in highschool because we just barely saw them play against them. He left high school early. Do curly and there's always been character concerns with him maturity issues with him but ultimately man the the fact is that put all that aside put all that aside and the production on the court. This dude looks like a versatile defender. He looks like a guy who can handle the ball be utilized and creative ways. I think about thinking about the stuff with trae young trae young. He's gonna run a pick and roll. Trayvon's get trapped a lot in the pick and roll it. Jalen johnson is your screener. He can be an at four you. He can make the right decision or score himself. He could be a guy that you run offense through at the elbow areas like bam style. You know offense in the half court you can do that for you. Could bring the ball the court sometimes help alleviate the pressure off trae young to me. You know he looks like one of the steal of the draft able to learn some tricks of the trade from gallon ari. You'll be playing behind. you know. Short gets gallon ours got the ball in his hands. A lot and i thought the hawks have a lot of depth dude. They have a lot of depth on their authored. A lot of vets slaughter young guys. They have the deepest rousers maybe in the entire league..

"Com. Kevin o'connor aka kevin obama climbing kevin o. Concert kevin o. camera kevin. Oh candy glen. Kevin kevin killian kevin okra saw a. Let's go on friday. What we finally have a little break in the action it's felt like tremendous whirlwind over the course of the past couple of months because we add the playoffs and with the nba finals. Then we move straight into draft preparation and the draft and then we went straight to summer league but with the conclusion of summer league and while free agency is a completely over. Most of the big stuff is done a little break here And kind of starting to look at next season. And i know we will. Today as fans are going to be listening to this on friday at two o'clock central time. Three o'clock eastern this afternoon. I believe the nba schedule is gonna come out in full. So people are going to be able to plan their falls and winters. But let's start with just kind of a wrap up of summer league which when we last spoke the championship game was gonna to take place. You told me peyton pritchard was going to be flying back to play in the game. I bet he wished he hadn't force he ran debut on mitchell. A reason for kings fan to feel good right like summer league. Titles sometimes aren't indicative of anything but sometimes they're indicative that you do have some very good young talent to be excited about and there is at least one that they drafted in the top tan. That i mean if i'm kings fan. I'm absolutely over the moon. After what i saw out of mitchell in the summer league. Yeah man. I mean with dr mitchell. We saw multiple times throughout the entire. Suddenly chris just the way. He contained pete and richard that clip that went viral on the finals. Night earlier in the tournament had multiple possessions. Where he just was sticking to guys like glue mirroring their every motion. This is this is who he's gonna be in the nba doesn't matter these only six foot doesn't matter that he's undersized a guard the fact is is that this guy can just get in your face on the offensive end of the floor. He can contain. You can bother you. He can blow up your plays and there might be some matchups for him against the bigger guard were. Maybe he's overmatched. But for most nights. I mean this guy looks like a terror right and i think for the kings. We talked about keta earlier in that we earlier in the week. Entering that game he didn't score at all but still makes his impact defensively we. He still has shown throughout summer league what he can do. But ultimately i mean louis king of course was. I believe their leading scorer that night. Not a big name prospect by any means. Robert ordered got some minutes to by david mental overall for kings fans has to be the number one takeaway here the number one thing the feel good about that. There's a potential lockdown defender in the back court to complement tari saleh. Burn and darren fox. They could have a three hundred monster in the back court..
Minnesota Timberwolves Acquire Patrick Beverley From Memphis Grizzlies
"Clippers. Patrick beverley got traded to the minnesota timberwolves column clippers. S to the gatorade from the clippers to the grizzlies now the grizzlies to the wolves. Four one show. Earning gomez and jericho ver. I didn't think he was going to be on the christie's long and is waiting to see where rondos gonna play because you don't run run on. He didn't even get a hotel. He didn't even look memphis on google yet. He ain't going here okay. i don't care. I'll fake retirement. There's no chance
Detroit Pistons Sign Luka Garza
"Luke garza could actually become a real. Nba player that guy that one collegiate player of the year and yet nobody wanted and is drafted in the nba draft What ended up with twenty and fourteen or something. Last night he was. He was outstanding Again he has dow signed a two way deal. So luger's who does nobody been. It's he'll end up getting four The pistons but luca garza signed a two two way deal. He of course had a historic collegiate career at iowa. But he was you know by all accounts slow-footed big played near around the basket and so was of no use to people in the nba. And yet he made threes. He put up to huge double doubles and in their finale. Last night ends it with twenty one point and fifteen rebounds and got himself a two way contract so the luka garza dream is still alive after getting selected fifty second in the nba draft. He was good and he's fun. You know he's a real throwback but I i love the idea of becoming you know. Just the there's i went back and looked kevin. There's never been a guy like you by where this has happened work. I becomes the naismith player of the year in college basketball. Nobody wants him now. Not all of them have panned out. I e like the tyler hands boroughs but tolerance was like a lottery pick. I think frank mason might be the lowest and he was like at the beginning of the second round nobody. There's not even close to being selected. Fiftieth or fifty. Second whatever you've picked.

"Nobody is all that interested in making sure that he develops so that makes them look good because sometimes the is responsible for you sometimes. The players are sometimes the coaches responsible for you. Sometimes somebody in the front office sometimes. It's the owner. But they're gonna make sure that they exhaust every opportunity for you to reach your potential and and they'll stick with you through bad times in order for that to happen. You know once upon a time. I thought the grizzlies should've given up on my calmly. I'm honest about that couple years in but everybody here their coach. He's the one that stumped for him so he was gonna dam. Sure that mike conley whatever was going to become. He was going to reach that potential because he believed in him. But when once the people that believed in you are gone. Your your chances of succeeding. Low and i mean ultimately will see wha- jared culver i mean there's a lot of question marks of him he's had some injuries His shot has not developed in the way that you would have hoped for that sometimes when you watch the wolves his confidence he had none of it. At times he would make a mistake on the floor and the dip his head or get frustrated. I it just seems to me that you know whether it's the mental side or like i said the production on the court with the lack of the jump shot. He wasn't working in minnesota. And it may not in memphis. You know taylor. Jenkins is a very good coach. Very great motivator. Hopefully this is the right personality. Mix for culver but even if he gets confidence he still needs to become competent shooter and for memphis. That's going have to be the thing for him right now at the stage of his curry still only twenty two years old. Still super young look. He's he's upside. Play your trading. Patrick beverley who didn't even suit up for you and you got beverly with bledsoe. You're essentially trading bledsoe for jericho over and deal and like the grizzlies now. How many how many guys may have under contract right now like seventeen or eighteen. So this is the ads. Like there's still more moves to happen whether these are cuts or whether there's more trades the grizzlies still have more moves to make to iron out there. Also but i'll tell you what chris. I mean whether the team whether the grizzlies are better or worse in terms of record. That doesn't that doesn't matter this coming season. It doesn't matter. If they're better in terms of record i'd say this team took a step forward in terms of fit around jama rant and building this thing out because you mentioned earlier with stephen adams he's your big bruiser and now you get a full season of jaren jackson junior who can not have to worry about rebounding. He can do his thing on the perimeter splash on threes. Coming off street doing all things you see guards and wings do and on defense. He's at his best as that mobile versatile. Piece on the perimeter. Right now at this stage. So i think for him. It's for the best for jobs for the best. And ultimately the development of those guys and desmond beam you know coming off the bench or starting you know getting these young guys. Continue getting better. That's what the roster is all about and you know with this fit. Why not add jarrett culver into this mix and see what happens well and they must have known that this was coming or possibility. Yeah well say that right. Yes set this up in advance. Because.
Clippers Trade Patrick Beverley, Rajon Rondo for Eric Bledsoe
"The clippers have reportedly acquired veteran guard. Eric bledsoe from the grizzlies. They will send patrick. Beverley rajon rondo and daniel otaru to memphis and the deal. This'll be bledsoe's second stint with the clippers. He was drafted by the team in two thousand ten and spent his first three seasons in la. This is mostly a money move. It saves clippers thirty million in luxury tax and it creates eight point three million traded player exemption that they will have a year to us so it gives them some flexibility moneywise bledsoe's going into his twelfth. Nba season the average twelve point. Two points three point four rebounds and three point eight assists per game last season with the pelicans. He was traded to the grizzlies before the draft in july. So think this is a good move overall. Money wise for the for the clippers. And you also get a good player and eric so people were kind of freaking out like us too much eric. What's it like. This is cleared up a lot of money with this. Also the way patrick. Beverley season ended with a clipper. That's something the way. Push chris. Paul the clippers organization his had a history of being not the classiest they now feel like a classy organization and that was a kind of a really bottom move. That was not it kind of felt like that was the end of the

"That idiom the other way. My home. Yeah, I believe it when I see it, Yeah. When I see it. I'll believe it. Or that. Yep, he just didn't wait to drop the word idiom in there, right? You just couldn't wait. I know you mind works. I know how your mind works. Not just the science guy. That farmer John Wall like to tweet from MSN sports yesterday. Do you catch that? I did that constructed a trade that would send him along with a 2023 1st round pick to the Clippers. Okay, so he he liked the tweet. Marcus Morris, Patrick, Beverley, Rondo and Kennard. Alright old players, you know, different ages. All veterans there cannot obviously the youngest there. Beverly Defense bars could give you some scoring. Raju Rondo is what he is. What would it trade for John Wall do for the Clippers? Well, I'm sorry to interrupt. I would. I would like this. Actually, might. I am I I hear you and Patrick Beverley, who's still good. He's got that hustle. He'll always be that dog, but he's just he's not as effective as it used to be. Clearly. Rajon Rondo, I mean, what is he 36 now? Yeah, it's got to be up there. He's up there, Kinard, and he's a good player. But He needs. He's a bench role player. He would be a little bit better, too. I thought he would like to. I thought he would start evolving a little bit. It didn't happen, but I think if John Wall was on this team of Kawai, Leonard and Paul, George they all of a sudden have a three headed back court. Which is which isn't great, necessarily, but it makes it tough to defend like you've got to have some elite wings to defend this team. If those three guys are on the court, especially if you get a big Who is who is somewhat stretch or it can be a protector as well at the rim on the defensive side. I think this would be great for the Clippers. Maybe it might be the The I don't know the necessary push to get them over the edge. Maybe they need to be a three star team. Not just the student to star team. You're probably right. It would make them a lot more sudden. I mean, you know Rondo is Zeke is up there with anybody maybe never played the game, so I'm not here to knock Rondo. He's a champion. I did think in or, you know, can or reminds me a little bit of Mike Dunleavy, also from Duke. I thought that Dunleavy was going to be and I think he was taking third. Don't leave. I thought Don't leave. It is going to be a not a great pro but a better pro than he was. And I thought Condor was going to be a better pro as well. Little disappointed with his growth. I'm with you. I thought he'd be better. Marcus Morris is good but expendable. Beverly, You nailed it. The scouting report, not the same guy. Ha! You know, I mean, if you have John Wall, Paul, George and quiet and you can fill out with a shooter or two that could be a championship team really could be alright. Major League Baseball game takes place The All Star Game tonight in Colorado. It's been one sided affair lately. People forget the American League. All right, 19 3 and one. This has always been his historically cyclical, but I mean, that's for Deco's 19 3 and one since 97. Including seven straight victories. So how do we feel about the Major league Baseball? All Star game is a fair barometer in deciding which league is stronger, absolutely draw no conclusion from that at all. Now, there was a time. I mean, I'll forget about the 19 3 and one record, but you go back to the seventies. You want to tell me you have Johnny Bench is you catch your you have Steve Garvey is your first baseman. Yes, Pete Rose if you want to put it in the outfield words second. You have Joe Morgan. Uh, you, can you Gary Carter, if you want to put him behind the dish and have whatever there's a million iterations to each decade. That can that can be fluid. I can't definitively say the American League is that much better. I would not say that. I think it's a bit quirky. Um, I just kind of talk it up as a quirky occurrence. Yeah, I agree, especially when you go look at what actually matters and that's winning the World Series, and that would be the National League winning seven of the last 11. That's true. It is not several..

"And i are going to break down the off season for the atlanta hawks and the los angeles clippers after both teams fell short in the conference finals. And you'll see the most notable item starting off with the clippers heading into the summers the free agency of kawhi leonard hoop sides number one. All roll ranked free agent in issues class and the clippers. They had a really unbelievable off-season especially compared to the meltdown. They had in twenty twenty think that they learned a lot this year. Especially under tight lou. I think they're definitely Figured out a lot of things and it should feel good about heading into next season. And especially if you're quiet. If if he had any doubts about whether this is was the right move if he should remain there for the future. I think a lot of those doubts really cool down so as we know. He is eligible to be free agent. He's got that player option. I wrote about the clippers last week as soon as they got eliminated at talked about him and several other things and was leonard. I he's got his player option. And if others. I don't think he's gonna leave. But i'll just touch on that really quick about what that could be if he were to walk dallas in yorker the only playoff teams. That could get to max cap space for him. So i don't know if those are injured Places that are particularly of interest to him maybe doused because they have lucado no but those are really the only two recent playoff things that could get to. Max cavs face. There is miami but They don't deny it to get the max cap space. They're route to getting. I would have to beat through trade so it would have to be kind of a situation where qui- tells the clippers. Hey you know what. I don't wanna be here. I'm gonna believe but maybe you want. I'm willing to go to miami. Free trade me there. He he can say this about with some other teams. Then miami would have to opt in dragic guatemala and then send picks and hero and whatever they can to make it work that would be basically the situation so i touched on that a little more were leonard if you really want to do an opt in trade. I think he has more options. That way but i don't think that's going to happen. My guess is that he will end up staying with the clippers. And i think the bigger question is what kind of con- contractual pathway.
Clippers' Patrick Beverley Suspended One Game for Shoving Suns' Chris Paul
"Also suspending Clippers guard Patrick Beverley for the first game of next season. That for shoving Chris Paul in the back during Western finals game number six, A few nights ago, Beverly ejected from a game where Phoenix went on to win and advance the finals. They will face the survivor. Of Milwaukee and Atlanta.

"Happened in our great state the bad day. Bad time. Bad week that year. Yes, indeed. It was bad and everybody around the country, you know, watching. I remember going up there probably Month or two after everything that happened, and I didn't recognize is going to visit a friend up in the mountains there and didn't realize it until you get to a certain area like Oh, my goodness, and it was just kind of this. The sinking feeling. Being the governor at that time and having to talk to those families and having to get briefed about that. That's the heart. You know, we you know, we remember you, obviously from you know everything from the tarmac to to all the other stuff that went down in your present and your and your presidency you I mean, come on, you wish but in your in your you've been governor, but Those kind of things right? There is what being a governor is all about that people don't see having those conversations quietly with the families of people who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Yes, and listening trying to comfort them. You know, I'm praying with them it just and, uh, it was it was terrible and I would like to say that your president Obama called me twice. He was very concerned he was on and he did what every good presidents to do and those kinds of circumstances But he did not come to the funeral. But Vice President Biden He came, you know, Um There's a lot of dignitaries. They're going across the country. I mean, people really stepped up and showed their respect for them and for their families and and and and continuing to. Today you mentioned Yarnell that most people right away. They think of those. Elite fire fighters, hot shots that were killed trying to protect Arizona and coming upon this holiday July 4th. We all have to remember how serious the OneWorld work One move forward can set a wildfire up. Former Arizona governor. Jan Brewer is joining us. Today is the eighth anniversary of when, um members of the 20 Man crew they were called the Granite Mountain hotshots there on the front lines of the Yarnell Hill fire. It was ignited by lightning two days earlier, and the fire spread quickly and The hot shots were overrun by the intense flames, and they were trapped when they deployed their fire shelters and 19 died. Governor Do you remember having a conversation with Brandon McDonough, who who survived? I did. I did. It was not at length. I think he's probably when I had the opportunity to speak with him. It was right there. And you are now right after the fire at a press conference, and now he was there and, uh, I think, you know, I think he was in a state of shock. I think that it was like, unbelievable to him that this terrible thing happened. And I felt that he felt that he took the burden on himself. That why did they all die? He'll make it. He made it out, You know, but they sent him out. They went he was a scout is going to go look, but that jump. I mean, I'm sure. Uh, Place a heavy part in his life and will forever and those people were so tight. I mean, they lived and breathed and slept together. You know, I mean, they were Band of Brothers preserve, talking to former governor of Arizona as we talk about what took place eight years ago in the hot shots being killed in you are now in the fire. That was So horrific. Let's talk about something else. Game five. The other night was also awful. Game six is tonight and, uh, are you nervous Governor? To be honest, you nervous? Are you wearing your son's gear tonight are we can expect to be throwing stuff against the wall if they don't do well, and are you going to exercise governorship? If there is a game seven and get yourself in that building. Yeah, well, I'm I'm looking for the big wind. I think that we need to go re l A And when you know when that game on their turf and make them realize that we can take out a any time we beat the Lakers over there, and now we need to go in there and beat the Clippers and the Clippers were shooting like crazy. And then that crazy maniac Beverly, I mean, come on, dancing around like a nutcase, You know, take the three better be doing his dance tonight. I mean better at getting it on, you know, well in and diving with him. Hey, Governor. If this goes to game seven, you've got to get into that locker room and give these guys a pep talk. That's all I gotta say. I want to put my janitorial clothes on and go in there, You know, Like the people seeking to hospitals they put scrubs on right, right? Yeah, that on go on in there. Yeah. Now we're going to bring it home tonight, guys. That's a really good about it tonight. Former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer Every Wednesday. Governor of a great Fourth of July. We'll talk to Next week. You too. Bye. Bye bye, Governor. You know, we've had a lot of people on over the weeks to talk about the sons No. One trash talks better. Then Governor Brewer. She was after LeBron. But you didn't have a whole lot of time in the Denver series to rip anybody there. But Patrick Beverley just got better electric. Well, Patrick Beverley broke, uh, Booker's knows. And a dirty play against Chris Paul. Last game where Chris Paul fell on his tail bone, and then he danced around him mocking him. And well, he he had a different thing. He said. You know what? I wasn't mocking him, but I was telling them you're a world class flopper. Get off, please. They've got a little history. Potentially, of course, of course. But of all people that we put on talking about the sun's. She's the best. They, uh She crushed Patrick Beverley. Okay, you know, look, she's coming on. Who else would they say? It was a yesterday talking about? Uh, it was Jamie, right? Jamie West. Jimmy West is like, so how do we take him out? How do we take her? And we can do like she's getting ready to hire people to go like, you know, bust up his knee or something like, Whoa, But you gotta think about this to Beverly and Paul. Have you know they put they played together? So they've I'm sure you know. But you were right, man. Nobody came to the aid of them. Nope. Nobody came to the aid of Chris Paul when that happened, and that showed me that the sons were not ready for that. Game five. Better be ready tonight. All right, coming up next. I don't know. Why Don't we talk about this? Just throw it out there. So who wants to buy a gay or bisexual couch? Here's Becky Lynn. Katya are.
Jackson's jumper gives Clippers 100-98 win over Pistons
"Reggie Jackson sank a jumper with two point three seconds left against his former team giving the clippers their seventh straight victory one hundred ninety eight over the pistons they will be using our product when Russell's Russell measured them yeah but we'll move on to some strong words the clippers rallied from an eleven point deficit in the fourth quarter despite playing without Kawhi Leonard Paul George Serge Ibaka Patrick Beverley and Marcus Morris Jackson finished with twenty nine points and expressed in Lucan art had seventeen with ten rebounds the clippers trail by five in the final minute but Terrence Mann made it ninety eight ninety five with a dunk and Jackson connected from three point range to tie it with nineteen seconds left I'm Dave very
Clippers hit 19 3s, beat Bucks 129-105
"The clippers had a real good showing against the milwaukee bucks clip raining down threes resembling that squad. That got out to the hot start. They had a quick giant as the west number one seat earlier this year. They've won six in a row but no one is going to believe them until the playoffs but they do have all the parts. Even though a lot of them are sitting out. Paul george out of this game. Patrick beverley out of this game. Rajon rondo to this game. They're starting backward in this jackson. And luke kennard had a combined eleven threes. What happens when beverly comes back. Does he go into the starting lineup. Does canard come out more of a ball. Who has been impressing. Good problems for tyler. No problems for the clippers serge ibaka. His fashion stays on point as it did with the toronto raptors. Yes he does fashion. He does art as surge. Said with that bucket. Had in that fancy scarf slash mask

Power Rankings: Can the Clippers stay atop the West?
"Espn's nba power rankings. Talking about how great everything was going in. La or how much noise l. Making right now in the sports universe but the lakers no longer number one in the rankings. So maybe la's fallen down a little. Except the clippers have assumed the number one spot kawhi leonard and company. The nba's best record the clippers. Have a six game. Swing with leonard and paul george entering quarantine due to health and safety protocols and patrick beverley. He's out they had a seven game. Winning streak snapped in atlanta. The co and paul george back after missing just two games due to contact. Tracing the clippers are a deep team. There were deep team last year. But i think bach gives them a premium over mantras harrell because he can spread the floor. He can shoot the three and he can rim defend. He can defend the paint at certainly blocked shots. At least he's very good defender. As is harold box more versatile moreover more versatile player you can play a lot of big next to a bacha because he can do some things that some modern pigs can't but serge ibaka is not the reason that they're you know this good. They've played together another season. Tyler is doing a very good job. Don't forget and this goes for what i said about the nets last segment to we're in a covert year. Still where there's not practice like. They're normally is and people are socially distanced so first year teams that come together like the nets last year like brooklyn. This year are at a disadvantage but brooklyn's now going on their second year with sorry. The clippers are largely with the same cast. And yet you know. Lou will mantras harrell reggie jackson nick tomb. Which was a big pickup nick. A tumor he got a max deal or something close to it. Because he was the status all star. I mentioned this last week but at that time. Are you sure that you knew who was going to be better between kawhi leonard klay thompson and nick platoon. But he was in that category people when he got his deal. Weren't even like oh. That's too much for nick petunia. Like oh he's really good player. Lost interest on a noncompetitive team. He looks interested again. Remember he got a max deal wasn't no one. Did him any favors. He earned it so. That's a big pickup for them. Interested nick we can play making do some things but none of this really matters to me for the clippers and i understand power. Rankings are based on regular season performance. Guys until paul. George shows up as like this if paul george showed up his normal self. The clippers are still at a disadvantage against the lakers because kawai and libron or both superstars as is a de. Paul george is the next thing to a superstar. Paul george is not a five star player. He's a four and a half star player. So even if paul george it shows up as his normal self. Ain't going to be enough for the clippers in the playoffs. He has to be just to see but instead of that or even stay the same. He gets in the playoffs. So i don't believe in this clippers team in the play. I don't care what they do. In the regular season. Until i see paul george show up when it matters in the playoffs. A believer
Young's 38 points lead Hawks past depleted Clippers, 108-99
"Trae young dropped in thirty eight point two Kevin Hurter scored all thirteen of his in the final quarter to guide the hawks past the clippers one await ninety nine the fourth quarter I think you know a lot of ways it felt more in rhythm was taking better shots shots just catch and shoot the reason and got back to you know really I think the strongest part of my game D. Andriy hunter had twenty two points for Atlanta while Clint capella collected thirteen points and nineteen rebounds young furnished fourteen points in the third quarter to help the hawks and the clippers seven game winning streak the clippers were without starters Kawhi Leonard and Paul George due to health and safety protocols guard Patrick Beverley missed the game with right knee soreness Reggie Jackson led the clippers with twenty points eight assists and seven rebounds I'm Dave very
The Los Angeles Clippers Have Fired Doc Rivers
"Another myth another legend was fired Bob and I don't you were shocked as I was I, didn't see this coming where Doc rivers we had on the podcast you and I are both huge fans of doc as a human being as a coach. I don't. I. Don't know where I stand right now. Obviously, he is blown some big leads the latest being one in the bubble. Denver and with a team that let's face it. Steve. Balmer paid doc rivers big money to win a championship not not be eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in the in the western conference semifinals so Valid or not valid to let doc rivers go. I knew that we all knew that losing another three to one was not a good thing to have on on anyone's resume to do it twice in. Three years. And the do it with this owner as you said, who invested the overpaid for the team I think even by modern standards that teams are worthy he he got a little giddy with his two billion dollar plus purchase of the clippers the Lakers we could see but not the clippers. So okay, he's invested in this and I worried about it a little bit but I didn't think it would happen. I thought it was a possibility of Steve Bomber angry. But, I, thought it was an of course couching it. It's mutual ha you know coming out of the usual walk away from that money it's the modern. Thing to do that say it's mutual nationally I felt badly because I am very proprietary to a doctor and I have communicate with him already. But. It's understandable that an owner. Successful businessman. Odyssey's bomber is a highly successful with that investment. I I don't know what I don't know Jeff is the level of his own personal basketball acumen. I don't know how much he thinks. He knows he knows more doesn't knows more than that part I don't know you know. Here's what I'll tell you about. Here's what I'll tell you I. Don't think this was all Steve. Balmer. My guess is Jerry West who they pay a ton of money as a consultant. Okay. As a consultant. Yeah. Good point is Jerry West played a significant. In this move and now the question will be. What what's next in the big thing with doc and you and I know this we've been around enough. Great human being great communicator. But the biggest words that you would hear from players about doc dating back to the Celtics was a little bit of a Country Club, right? It's it's easy doctors a practice much. Older players veterans love, them. Again it's where you want to go to and the latter part of your. Extend Your career. and You wonder if that played a huge part here because certainly the clippers didn't look like there were in tiptop condition in the bubble weather. It was Knox fault whether it's back that mantras Harrow had a death in the family and didn't come into the bubble too late whether it's a fact that Lou Williams left the bubble and came back the Patrick Beverley. There were there were a lot of issues. But ultimately. It. Probably does follow on doc in a sense that you had the pieces you had the pieces. You shouldn't be watching if you're the clippers, you can't be watching the Los Angeles Lakers right now compete for
Los Angeles Clippers Complete Historic Collapse As Nuggets Take Stunning Game 7
"Well. This night is going to be remembered for a long time and there's a whole bunch of different reasons why people are gonNA remember it. The laker fans have their reasons. the clippers fans have their reasons. The nuggets fans have their reasons I think I just clip. Yeah they're there It's it's rough right now. I mean I I I think any team that had duplex have experienced. What just there? That is a devastating blow, but I think I just watched. McMahon I'll see if you agree. was. An Absolute Total grade a choke. Oh, not just. All much in the three one aspect I mean that jokes who actually in the three one aspect especially in the blowing double figure leads in the last three games while choke in that even setting that aside, I'm just talking about the actual performance of night. Oh, what it only took him seven minutes in the fourth quarter to get a bucket. Yeah. Okay. We're of P. turnovers than frequent hold on hold your fire is just for a second dinner decided the backboard hold your fire for a sector. That would i. I think what I saw was that was a historic choke job and combined with a spectacular game seven performance by the nuggets or. Spectacular Three game comeback by the neck and look. Let's give the nuggets credit to straight series down three one comeback when Bo series Yokich. There's no. Yeah. But with Yokich is at minimum a second tier superstar right behind the parental VP candidates well. He was a I hear superstar in this game. For sure. He totally eviscerated Kawai Leonard in this game and really in the back half of the series but in this game. especially. Yeah I mean he he was great in this game I mean. Just. Look at the box score Paul millsap only had six points but. his buckets were huge. He played on the better six point three rebound performances. I've ever seen Jamal Murray. We've gotta get in this guy's on the Kahane's factor starting five this year forty points in a game seven. So yes. Absolutely, give the nuggets credit and we've got time to talk nice about the nuggets. But what we need to do right now is pile on the most arrogant bunch of guys. The most Arab arrogant franchises never sniffed a frigging conference finals and hey, props to the Portland Trailblazers back court for completely unloading their troll game. Warden CJ mccollum absolutely deserved to just fire away because you got Paul George and Patrick Beverley acting like they're on some frigging dynasty. They've never sniffed the conference files. Why are they act like there's some you know I mean come on now. So yes, I. I'll be honest I thoroughly enjoyed the collapse and the troll jobs that came along with it.
Some NBA players sit out the season
"Okay, Let's talk about the MBA there beginning this week in Orlando in Florida, which is a co vivid nightmare at this point. Some players air sitting it out, or they just saying I'm not going to play because I'm afraid of getting covered. Yes, Some players were sitting out because of family members that are at risk. Some players were just sitting out because they're not going to do it. You got key members of Seems like the Clippers, you know mantra. Is Harold sitting out Patrick Beverley sitting it out. You know, these are key elements of members of a lot of teams are saying, Hey, I need to Protect my family and protect myself and that's responsible. But then you've got other members of the Clippers like Lou Williams, who actually went back to Atlanta for a funeral. And then was photographed at a strip club with a rapper. He posed the rap, proposed it to his instagram, and then he quickly deleted it. And then he came out and said, Hey, that was an old picture of me and Lou Williams. I love him so much. I want to do it. But in the picture Lou Williams was wearing an N B a sanctioned mask. You know the way people were Matt five years ago that the MBA sanctioned know that he got busted in this thing. So now the Williamses basically quarantined for 10 days. He can't play in the first couple of games back. He just can't play in the 1st 2 games, one of them against the Lakers. So it affects the team and what the N B A is saying, you know, they had a squeaky clean record. They just recently tested everyone and had zero positive tests inside the bubble, But some players have to leave the bubble stars Ion Williamson, who's the big stars Big rookie star from the New Orleans Pelicans. He had to leave for a family emergency. A health emergency if you and they ask for permission to leave, if you ask for permission to leave than you have Ah, four day quarantine when you come back into the bubble and you get tested, But if you leave and you violate the rules, it's a 10 day quarantine and this is going to affect games. As we move forward as we're trying to set up, you know the best possible scenario where the teams are playing at full strength. This is going to affect

"The start of free agency and all my goodness it never stops Steve this Sager jumping in here with some this figure what's going on we mentioned the nets trading guard d'angelo Russell sign and trade to Golden State to make room Adrian washing around ski ESPN saying the warriors are trading on Greenwood dollar to the Memphis Grizzlies they're sending a protected first rounder twenty twenty four twenty twenty five twenty twenty six unprotected all as part of the deal to make room so Andrea go dollar guy who's been making twelve to fourteen million a year for many years remember he was a score in Philadelphia not with Golden State on that roster but a guy who is a first rounder out of Arizona fifteen years ago has been traded or we'll be traded more accurately to the Memphis Grizzlies let me add something to that Ramona Shelburne said that he could dial a former rob Palenque clients so wouldn't be surprised to see the Lakers somehow get involved so I would be surprised about that either can the Lakers involved as well well ya Dreger dollars getting a bag Scott drug now well I just I mean you're probably going to need someone to take quite a bit of a pay cut because I mean if you especially if you get a call why not if you don't get kawaii you can go I get a few pieces but I mean unfortunately for unfortunately for the Lakers the clippers in the rafters they've gone all in right now on kawaii Lynyrd and whichever Weiss and fortunately it's gonna be a fortune for two of them because Arnie's what army what's left what's left at the markets cousins your Patrick Beverley still out there the lady whether they're not out there not talked about but a greeting to the Max deal as the bay area report to stay with writing state so there's not much there's not much meat on a whole bowl impossible you been told me about all this great talent is in the NBA and that this hall of Famers all over the place surely there's some talent you can sign are you really trying to bring that tape take up after what we've just watched in the last four and a half hours in college I've got to do something I'm here my gosh twenty yes forty percent of the league Ajit instead reaction yes I this is a damn good point if you ask me you want to die on the you're dying on that hill is the unfortunate five died a thousand deaths are ready today what difference does it make what more I I did have to laugh though UCLA Dodger Frank tag this in a note from the and we'll keep who covers the what clippers any tweeted earlier just well earlier a couple minutes ago the warriors don't even have a single finals MVP on their team anymore Lehman well done
LeBron James and the Winning Basketball Play
"Let me defend Kevin. So Steve Kerr came out and said I want him shooting thirty times a game. And I think Steve Kerr smart, but I think Steve Kerr's wrong here. Here's why I always defended LeBron James on this. Lebron always made the winning basketball play LeBron's not Michael Jordan, LeBron's not Koby. He's not he's more. Magic johnson. The Bronco criticized. Michael you almost always took the final shot first of all he didn't he let coach Steve Kerr impacts and take a lot of shots. Michael Jordan, did don't tell me Michael took the right shot, but LeBron came into the world post MJ in the middle of Kobe's career in the bronze like guy wide open on double team at night. And I always supported the let me support. Kevin Durant here. They were up by thirty doing it Kevin's way don't blame Kevin for the loss. No team in the history of the NBA is had what Kevin has Kevin Thomson Steph curry the three shooters on the planet are arguably Steph curry Klay Thompson, Kevin James harden and Tokai Reardon in there. So I disagree with this idea that you have to just generalize. Hey, my star player shooting thirty the warriors are different. They have arguably the two best shooting guard. It's the best back and history curry Klay Thompson is better than. Jerry West Gail Goodrich, which I grew up with is the best backcourt shooting in the history of the NBA. So it's a completely different paradigms and Kevin Durant. Saint Louis I can shoot you forty three percent over Patrick Beverley and get the hard to. But isn't this sport? Now about the easy three not the hard to and Durant's the best hard to shooter in the world. But Kevin's got it, right? Is I can do that. And I can hit that. But I got I got wide open world class shooters. I think there's been a way to play basketball and everybody knows now the worst shot in the league. Now, even though Durant best at it is a hard to and Durant. The best hard to shooter in the world. But the better shots, the easy three in Durant. San. I'm going to distribute to these world class shooters. If clay was on this team or Steph wasn't I would say shoop thirty. But I always defended LeBron this I'm gonna I'm gonna defend Durant on this. They're both the same guy. They're saying I'm going to make the right basketball play. And I will always we got too many guys mislead that don't do the right basketball play. They take bad shots when you can get a starlike. Lebron Durant goat. Now. I'm gonna do the right basketball. I love that. I'll defend that for the rest of my life. That's the way. I love the
Does Kobe Bryant have more influence over the Lakers than Magic Johnson?
"Kobe Bryant has just as much if not more say so in the Lakers organization that Magic Johnson who's been with the mega donors as and I don't think anybody's nine that. Because we know that Pelinka would even be if it were not for Kobe, but I'm still not going to put an Koby like he's running organization. I'm sorry genius. Has the power wants you exercise it, but I'm, but I'm taking it to another step as brothers as a black, man and brotherhood. If you have a relationship with a guy. That she was mentor by magic with the Lakers before you. And then now you put another guy on rob Pelinka, yo Asian so you had a personal relationship with both of those guys. So if there was something going on between the two you supposed to step in and say, hey, man, this is our play for this team. He played for this team. He's the president. We all can work together. But because that didn't happen. You have to put the facts Kobe Bryant saying he's playing a major partners by just not saying nothing. Okay. All right. What's your point about K D because I'm running out of time? And I definitely want to hear that. Well, K the you know, I've been on record saying you're playing basketball. Well, guess what the depressions on you have to three you have to close the deal you chose to leave. Okay. See to go to Golden State the same. Lebron leaving Cleveland go to Miami anything less than three Pete. It's a failure. And Golden State magic couldn't complete three P and eighty nine. They couldn't do it the dream. Couldn't do it Bronco. Do we win Kobe? We saw Michael Jordan doing. Twice. And my point is this if Kevin Durant is the best player basketball if he wanted tell everybody that he's number one and number two you have to solidify three Pete and win and go to go anywhere. That's your position his position go to stake three P go to steak win if Kevin Durant continues to look this way his Patrick Beverley, and then he advances and the PJ took of the world and cats like that get all up in them like they're capable of doing. All right. Looks that way against them. Even if Golden State does win it's an incredible blemish. Kevin durant? Wait, you can't leave me with this one. That's an injustice on the bronze aim for last two seasons. My checking and Kevin Durant. If that happened. Well, you could say that wait a minute way. You could say that. But the point is even if you didn't check him the reality of the situation is LeBron James's years not accepting the toughest defensive assignment from. Opening tip off like the Kawara limits or like Kevin Durant was willing to do against him. So as much as you might maligned LeBron for that. And remember, I'm not talking about LeBron really because debt. I don't wanna talk about him because he's he's awesome. The reality is that we had a look at it that give you the last 'cause I gotta go and thirty seconds. He were sixty point game in this playoff. Okay. Appreciate the call.
