I was trying to think of something it started with. Ti couldn't messed that one up. Bajic what's been going on since Besigye last. I guess I would say that. We had a really fun interesting conversation with the dedicated neutral. Centrist Tom Merritt on the phillies club as to what is happening in the US and It was really interesting. I encourage you to go check it out along with everything else. We've been talking about on that show. It's the Phillies Club. You can access it through French. Spin DOT COM and If you want to spell it in your podcast habits spy L. E. A. S. search for that did you find it. Yeah I thought. The episode had some good points and bad points. Let's leave it at that and we'll let you make pretend to be neutral about it. It was a great show all seriousness. It was really fun. I had a great conversation with Patrick about just sort of the differences in perceptions on what's going on here in the United States and its response to Cova nineteen and thank you for having me on battery goes. It was really fun to do her. Hey folks we've been taking this time at the end of the show lately. Not just to plug our own patriotic but to kind of expose us to other creators out there. That are doing some great stuff. Liked the Davinci tree that we mentioned yesterday. If you like music there are so many great musicians out there and you can support and get a pipeline of awesome tunes delivered direct to you. You can't go see him in the bars in the arenas anymore but they can play for you on the Internet. One of the awesome.

"All the things that they're it has in the clubs in terms of like one of the insisted on the on the micro usb standard. That work did an awful lot and they the right time talking about in general like for example their their right to be forgotten rules the the legislation perfect technique nick regulation in the US no worse or better than regulation in the United States. Exactly kids back when you disagree with strongly really Impact the people who oh held Google to account who people Microsoft Account. It wasn't the. US government you know it was it was only the EU stepping anal really would not valid without got the EU. Google wouldn't have been held account for skewing the search. It at the US regulation. It's choke Google hasn't been held to account. They're still will doing well. They're still arguing over there doing before. And when when I go to Europe using the Internet is kind of a nightmare every granted I owed anybody enjoy these pop ups on every freaking websites. We'll use cookies. Is that okay. That is if you add up all the waste of all of let's clicking that nonsensical pop up. It must be millions of man hours by the way this is one of the great things about express. VPN I can be. I can be in Paris and tell them I'm in Boston and pop everybody. Everybody says well. We got to support the but I but I could. At least I can read the Boston newspaper success in the US. You can't read in Europe. That's I'm trying to do research desk. Whose fault is that? I think that's I feel like the papers in the leads. Are Y'all yeah. He has no incentive to obey European law trying to serve the local community. But anyway it's it's it's a blunt I don't trust the the EU. I don't trust the US. I don't trust Silicon Valley because they're too self interested in selfish. I trust anybody to to to get these. These is charging a porch right. And so you know I think. I think what's probably going to happen to us. You can do their thing. Apple's going to support support it and we'll all move on and it's not going to be a big deal so you know the problem with this is that I understand what you're saying and I think a lot of people share that sentiment that that you can't trust politicians to do the right thing and everyone who is an expert in their field is going to find issues with any law that concerns their a field. The problem is if you go that route then you just sit down and cry and don't write any law about anything anywhere ever and that cannot make us for regulation. The United States giving us much better auto safety right without seatbelt regulations and I mean EXAC- The millions of lives and there. Are you know by the way these are the good. I support the Tim. Tam's brought to us by our Australian friends. Thank you very much. These are great so good Patrick. You always defend regulation when you're on we we always I agree with you. On with some libertarian. American government is as bad as it's it's you can't always have perfect regulations. Probably you're going to have a lot of issues with them and I certainly do as well but the alternative is just worse so oh I agree. You can't have the perfect situation so you have to support the least bad Maybe GDP are is imperfect maybe the The the charger. UNBC law is in perfect. Maybe another one is imperfect the cookie or the right to be forgotten but if you hate all of them and tell the government government don't legislate anything then you end up in another extreme which I think is the US where there are a lot of serious issues which you were. You know. We're talking about all the time on these shows no insisit you've gotta have regulation and enforced with our tool fines which the people are going to be scared of. I mean with the whole facebook saga which has still functioning in the course by the way five billion funds for facebook. They were laughing you know they do satisfied. Three billion that custom less than three months Prophet and the sharp price rocketed were found out. They were GONNA get away without extra collation. This is the kind of thing that doesn't work. And we're all GONNA get shafted by it. Let me take a little break and we will have more with our guests. Patrick Asia Asia from French spin and low tech PRINCE SPIN DOT com. I said F. R. before what would I get it Frenchman far. Would that be the French officials. Yeah Yeah and then at Dot Com you get the English okay so there you go there. You have a good way to learn by the way good way to learn French. Listen to listen to French. Spin Dot F. R.. Yes On they will take. I am usually the right wing Not that defense. It's all all relative isn't it. Isn't there a strike going on in France right now There's always a strike on this one. That one is these the strike. Yeah what strikes his The government is trying to reform The retirement system. And it's not going over. Oh well to strike has been going on. It's not a general strike but a lot of the transportation is on strike And it's been going on for five or six weeks now It's it's getting a little bit less strong so it seems like it might subside. But it's the longest one we've had and we've had a lot. Yeah my mother's done in France. The moment she was worried that she was going to be able to make it down. But perhaps you can correct me on this. She was saying that French train drivers under current rules can retire on ninety percent salary. Fifty eight is that correct. Yes that sounds very low away to yeah I. I'm not sure exactly was on this. I think it's pretty low indeed something like that and it's it it comes from When they had to actually shovel coal in the In the furnace on the train this show. I should get a I would like ninety percent salary at At my age well anyway enjoy. Yeah I guess you don't get to finish the Finns ever strike. No Oh there was a a strike Three four maybe a month month ago In the postal service. But it's very rare. It's the first one I've I've heard about since I've been living here for two or three years so it's rare but today's happy anymore. Yellow Jacket Protests that over jackets went on strike. They kind of merged with this movement which is inaugural our show today brought to you by fresh books books. If you are a freelancer it's up to you to get your pension together to get your act together to get your books together. And that's why they've ran the fresh books. It's actually been now fifteen years. Since I started using fresh books I had to send out invoices. I hated it. It was painful turns out as much as people hate paying bills at the end of every month. The people who send you the bills at least if you're a freelancer hate sending the bills. Just as much. Fresh book saved my Bacon. They made it easy for me to make make beautiful professional looking invoices but then something magical happened in the process of making the invoices pudding Expense report in the Invoice by taking pictures of receipts. I actually was doing. Don't tell anybody accounting. I was actually that was in the accounts. Receivable the accounts received I was doing expenses the beauty part of fresh books with that. Just doing the things you would normally do. Suddenly you can go on the front page of your fresh books account and see whether you made money this month this week this year..

"Coming into the game. He ain't got no chance they know everything about you. You got the secondary coach. You got the defensive coordinator you got. You got the head coach. GOTCHA everybody's boy. But it's like you got three young side. And his three on this top five coaches on San Francisco and you only do ingredients just all you. So I'm looking Amerada in Green Bay San Francisco going nowhere. How complete of a squad? They look okay. They go anywhere. I think the rams will be back. I think the cowboys might have something to say. The Philadelphia Eagles GonNa be there. I think Chicago's go be that I think thinking figure out to get rid of trubisky. I'm just looking at the window. A yesterday was the first time Max Marcus that I looked at Aaron Rodgers and and I said despite his greatness even great in the first half I said despite his greatness this is the SOFA I know why you would feel that way but I disagree. I respect what you're saying. I think look Aaron Rodgers. Your Fight Fan Roy Jones junior in his prime. He wasn't the greatest ever because of the accomplishments. But with your naked is the best I've ever seen right. That's Allen Rogers but when you are that gift did you don't need technique to the extent that mere mortals do so when Roy Jones and Bernard Art Hopkins fought when they were young Jones. Beat them easy when they fought when they were old hopkins one correct because Hopkins had to rely on technique. Because it wasn't gifted like Roy aged better Tom. Tom Brady and drew brees. Relying on technique have aged better than Aaron Rodgers who relied on athletic ability that they could never even dream of having to do things honestly if they could never dream of doing on a football field and then when that starts to go. He doesn't have the same technique to fall back on so the clock is ticking differently. I agree free windows not closed because still how many interceptions did he have. Zere in a badger was at four interceptions. And right that's true so in the regular season really one last one. But I'm talking regular season. Two Thousand Six hundred twenty six four ratio with a brand new head coach so I see reason to believe that some some more like dissipation of his talent can be offset by now in the second year playing with the guy. You're more comfortable with. That's one to Kansas City. Know why they're in the super bowl this year will number one because a pre snap penalty didn't give the other team the ball back like it did last. It should have been in the super bowl last year probably would have won but number for two. They were not satisfied with where they were last year. And they revamped the defense and they were and they were much better against the run they were a team. You could run over last year this year. It's different. So what does this tell you about. Green Bay what was Green Bay's weakness and I said it since the Philadelphia Game especially especially on the road. Like where's your run defense and they got ran on now. Kansas City just showed you. You can fix that in the season. That is a fixable problem then. The question is still believe. Aaron Rodgers has enough left to win a super bowl even as his kind of dive off the clippers is more precipitous than Tom. Tom Brady drew brees. The answer is yes he still has a ways to go before you look at. This guy can't even win a good team so the the window is closing. It is not closed. Its first I take your take on. ESPN radio the ESPN APP. SIRIUSXM channel eighty. And that's straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless everything for less only Walmart's funny. One quarterback has a bunch of weapons and Patrick Asia homes. The other in Aaron Rodgers doesn't seem to have nearly as many but it doesn't change the way we're having the conversation. I'm not sure about that now. You've heard the first take and again we want your take triple eight say. ESPN eight eight eight. Seven two nine three seven seven six one of the questions. We're asking you throughout the course of the day. The hottest debate from I take today. Is Patrick Mahomes. The best we've ever seen. They've got a lot of tweets coming in on that at Jason Fitz. Hashtag I take. We'll get some more of those in a second but first Albert and Florida wants to call in on Air Rogers Albert. Thanks for the call. Man What are your thoughts on Aaron Rodgers. The first of all congratulations on the show. Jason next time I'll answer the first question. Patrick Mahomes is soon to be the best quarterback ever and yes though Window has closed on Rogers. I think it closed honestly about like three years ago. He just I I feel like at the end of his career. He's GonNa come out more of a compiler compiler than anything else. Well I call. That's what would some would argue. He did this year. I'm still going to go back to a lightly. Touched upon point from from the first take debate though. Let's look at mettler success because remember the titans offense this year took a big step forward. What was the difference in the toughen chest part of it Marcus? Mariota was no longer the quarterback doc Ryan Tannehill was but the other part was different offensive. Coordinator I'm just saying I've we've seen explosive results from Matt Leflore the offensive coordinator. I questioned the higher to begin with. I still wonder at the end. How well it's going to play out for all of it for Green Bay now again triple eight say? ESPN eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven. Six is Patrick. Mahomes the best ever some of you guys is your tweeting and a really. I'm surprised I haven't seen this moment. More from posting in toasting great twitter name who tweets. Don't you have to win something to be labeled the goat I mean. I am surprised that we're seeing somebody in his first super bowl being labeled to go and also though I'm torn on that because Dan Marino didn't win the Super Bowl and he's obviously one of the goats Ed in Wisconsin. Patrick Mahomes the greatest of all time next calling the show which thought it was going on and I you know maybe a cat that she's bad you call yourself just because of the respect of your show I I know you're right or fan basketball. Say and I've been a Kansas City chiefs fan bill Kenny. He's working towards greatness. I think he's a very good quarterback package deal. Had We throw great out there so often now he keeps going directly it. I would think it would be in the conversation. You know what I'm saying but right now I think he's a very very good quarterback learning and he's in a perfect system would've perfect cokes. Imperfect weapons around him. I think that is a great call. Thanks for Colin. Yes I mean I think at some point we gotta start giving a little love to Andy Reid to because it's simple. It's not as simple as just get a bunch of guys open and let them catch the football andy. Reid is doing a great job of scheming. Guys Open this. Offense is great from homes and frankly as he alluded to and everybody knows. I'm a lifelong raiders fan. I want him to be the best of all time because then I feel better about losing to him all the time. Speaking speaking of my beloved raiders. Tom Brady made headlines. This weekend for one picture of the question is where should brady play next season. You'll hear the guy's thoughts on it next. It's first year take on ESPN radio. I'm Jason Fitz I think your take on. ESPN radio the ESPN APP. siriusxm channel eighty also on. ESPN news presented by Progressive Insurance. I'm Jason Jason Fitz. That's one of the ways you can get in on the conversation right now. Tweet me chasing fit. You can also use the Hashtag. I state we'll keep reading those tweets as they come through I love you guys and I wanNA say first first and foremost we're incredibly thankful for how many of you guys are already tweeting US already calling us. "Sarah Oh chance the hacker. Our friend chance says in regards to focus. That was our story yesterday. that Google had rolled out to help us all focus. Better chances to me. This feels a lot like one of those things I think I really need but once I get it I'll never actually become useful on my pixel. I currently use google wind down mode. I love the blue light filter But then I also have a gray scale mode that I set up to turn on at my bedtime. Every night at bedtime it flips on I get annoyed and then I turn it off. This has gone on for over a year. It's been on since I bought my pixel three last year still shutting it off every night. I'm looking forward to setting that my focus mode so I can start shutting it off each each day as well. He also sent us a picture of Lulu the cats wrapped in a blanket. Thank you chance it might just be me that appreciates these cat photos. Everybody but they are still appreciated And then John Regarding our conversation from a couple of days ago said I'm hunting for a browser plug in that. When when I go to a website I specify will throw me a message that I specify for example? Just give me a reminder that this link is from the onion a reminder that this is politico so I should check the author that type of thing. I don't need it to be curated by anybody else. But I don't trust me after a few drinks or a long day at work to double check every resource one hundred percent of the time. Of course he's responding to our discussion of how to know whether you can trust source and the fact that we all said every once in a while every one of us has been at least momentarily commentary fooled by a satirical article possibly from the onion so John is like give me a give me an extension that I can say remind me anytime. I'm looking got a link from one of the following sources. I think that's pretty clever. Tis The season holiday parties. Let's get this extension going but yeah I think I have that especially. "Oh my God there's no studio feline in Lovely Illuminated Paris I'm Patrick Asia and I'm Roger our awhile there's just sort of came to light with the IOS thirteen mention of it and I think it was taken out of context so on the one hand I have my opinions about the you know the they're pretty open keep going don't attention to what he wanted companies still remain including one payment processor the Netherlands pay you those twenty one members Netherlands Payment Company and microlending nonprofit Kiva former pay pal senior director of payments and Engineering Bertrand Perez is a Libra Association member and was officially named C. O. and interim managing director you're of the Association Belieber Association also claimed that fifteen hundred organizations have expressed interest in joining and one hundred eighty of those meet criteria for membership but Patrick if you don't have visa mastercard and paypal on board I I'm not saying Libra Association can't navigate the regulatory issues and can't launch but you need those companies back on board if you WANNA make this thing viable if you WanNa make them viable as a having a bridge with the real world it could still be viable for Internet payments for lack of a better term and I'm pretty sure for facebook is GonNa keep soldiering on but yes those are I mean it's incredible that all of those laughed at the same time and it Japs off an entire part of Lieber is used case use cases they might come back but certainly this is expressing a lot of cold feet nece at the idea of libra when a few months ago there was a seemingly more enthusiasm and this takes me from thinking Lieber Association is very well designed system with the right support and it should work if it's allowed to to thinking maybe they peg libra to the dollar because that would make it more acceptable to regulatory systems but that takes away a lot of the viability of the Model if they can get regulatory approval of this it is of course possible visa MasterCard paypal stripe etc join backup later which case this could could restarted but having the regulatory resistance they have and now not having the bank type places the payment processors on board it looks unlikely to me I wouldn't go that far but it certainly more of an up hill challenge and the I mean yeah we'll see we'll see well folks if you want to get all the tech headlines about five minutes each day subscribe to daily Tech Headlines Dot Com let's get into those Google announcements their announcement was very interesting very laid back a lot of talk about concepts burr to Thurston did some video snippets used quite effect and then they just kind of sprinkle in details it wasn't the typical like here's our product here's what it looks like here's the specs here's the price and release date it was very getting talked a lot about ambien computing and being helpful For instance at the very beginning of the the keynote they kind of throughout the Google stadium launches November Nineteenth the pixel be the first phone to support it and yeah you can get the founders edition For hundred thirty dollars in preorder or on launch November nineteenth I this is such a low key way to announce the launch of a major product. It confirms again to me that this is a Beta and and they don't want everyone rushing in and this is you know when you launch service like this you want everyone to be talking about the doing it like that is not gonna be conducive to a lot of breasts they also had a couple of hardware announcements that are coming down the line for Instance Pixel Buds the wireless ear Buds Hands Free Access long-range Bluetooth they wouldn't give us an actual range but it sounds like it's typical range of other Bluetooth three rooms a football field come with a hook that stabilize them in the ear and keep them almost flush so they don't hang out a lot of especially the air pods volume dynamics adjust to ambient noise beam forming Mike's help pick up your voice better claimed five hours listening time on a charge twenty four hours with charging case not come until spring twenty twenty for one hundred seventy nine bucks the Pixel book go laptop however is available soon has a magnesium case.

"But what a Google do they said or what what did you do and then Google do and they bought YouTube. They said we can monetize that their ads. So it will be. Worth it for us to provide this for free. Maybe that's what they're gonna do here and just say like good, developers may pay for access otherwise it'll be like a YouTube for playing games where we'll have some advertisements run and monetize it that way. I think it would be more difficult for games. They're usually a more expensive game costs fifty to sixty dollars full price game. So that's I think it would be a little bit more difficult, although you play a game a lot longer than you watch video so possibly that being said to get back to the idea that game developers are going to have to port their games to the service. The reason you're hesitant usually to port your game on the service, and that chicken and egg issue is that you have a restricted user base when a new platform launches if you are developing a game on switch then you need to know the install base of switch users because if it's only a couple of million, maybe it's not worth it in this case. The destruction of the friction for users means that you don't even really need to count the user base of Estadio. It's just everyone who has a PC, and who might be interested, of course, in the service of or a TV okra chrome cast or etcetera etcetera. So I think the dynamic there is a little bit different than what we're used to. And it's gonna take some time to adjust our way of looking at this thinking about this because it changes, the the paradigm in sense. Well, we there's lots to think about that thoughts. Keep occurring to me just as we talk, including the idea of like, well, what if there's a premium service to give you early access to games, but there's a free service when you're logged into Google that gives you some access because you want that friction looseness, and it can gather data for it. So I don't know where do we get? We gotta keep to keep thinking Patrick until they finally tell us either Google or maybe later, I don't know. Well, thanks, everybody. Who participates in our sub read it? And if you see anything about stadia or anything that Google is doing throw it in the sub read it voted up or down. We might talk about it on a future show submit stories and vote on them at daily techniques, show dot ready dot com. Also on Facebook, Facebook dot com slash groups slash daily tech news show. Thanks to everybody. Who participates in our show, in your way, whatever way Jews and also thanks to Patrick Asia for being with us today. Patrick, we missed you. What have you? Thank you. I think well, you know, working doing shows as always including a show called pixels. "Hello everyone and welcome back to gts labs games this is the part of labs where we get a few councils together on the desk and the gaming pc maybe and we check out what's cool in the gaming world and gaming industry we're going to be talking about a few game recommendations for this team sales towards the end of the episode but before that we're going to tell you what we take away from e three a few weeks after its come and gone talk about the playstation cross play scandal that shaking the industry and what are bettle passes and why everyone wants them and i'm patrick asia we're joined as always by scott johnson how's it going scott alot happy to be here going while i feel like all gaming news now is something connected to battle royale games some kind of another like it's all connected somehow doesn't matter how weird your your news is you can trace it back with three or four dots to something to do with fortnight or battle royale general and sony is not immune that's you know i recorded the french version of my gaming show on they've just earlier today and literally the title of the episode is fortnight is everywhere it's every piece of news we we discussed was connected to fortnight it's quite incredible how big the game has gotten actually game that when it was announced back in twenty eleven it was kind of just a minecraft thing at least it seemed like it at the time and it was like well you'll you'll build stuff during the day and then defend yourself at night and nobody got excited about it and then for years and years and years languished as this thing is like that's still being made they work in on that what is that he'll along comes pup g and these guys pivot and then the entire world changes razi to me the fournight is become it went from this complete obscurity weird epic pet project to the most the biggest video game currently happening it's possible even rich you know pub g is not what we were kind of we've lost the focus on pub g player knowns battleground because fortnight copying it has surpassed it in mind chair but pub g corp announced that they have sold fifty million copies of their game fifty million in what year and a half this is insane and the other thing is they had four hundred million players total so probably three hundred fifty million on mobile which is nothing to scoff at either so the entire population of the united states of america that they're everyone's for night or or both but right now pay all we do before we do each three what it was a few weeks ago it's as i said it's coming gone what are the one or two things that you take away from e three now that we've had time to sleep on it and sit on it a little bit funny you should ask because i've been thinking about this so my miss this is my broad takeaway games i'm most interested in the short term like in the next year and a half maybe two years sony platform i'm most interested in longhaul xbox raining is that the more i reflected on that conference the more i'm convinced that they they're doing they're they're doing the early work on a long on a long haul that they have purchased a number of studios to make them i party because they now understand that exclusives are what is going to be selling consoles and they hinted at the fact that they're working on the next generation of consoles they didn't hate it they said but we've got leaks that's kind of wonder what kind of form that will take maybe it's going to be multiple devices what kind of devices there's a lot of interesting stuff there yeah feels like feels like i drove past some construction went what's going on over there and then i on it because it can be something cool one day so you watch it every day and you can keep your eye on it i feel like they're hungry for that that's what the ing pushed to subservience space in a generation does to you sony's been they're they're back to being cocky number one for various reasons we'll talk about that in bet but they that makes the other guys very hungry and willing to to do interesting things and so the cycle begins anew.

"Yeah i mean this is the this is the thing that happens when you do is show for four years i this the show is not new it's hard for me to wrap my head around that's that but you know we've been doing this show for a while and people's lives change schedules change conditions change in the show kind of as as years gone cements itself into that kind of routine that everyone builds around so it's because even more difficult to kind of alter things on on that like changing schedules like that because so many people have an expectation now that the show comes out when it does and streams live when it does in the guests that we do have and the contributors that we do have already have that time blocked out in their day to accommodate the show yeah i mean look at patrick asia you're seeing less of patrick these days not because he's unwilling to do the show because he has baby you know and eventually willing to do the show yeah baby is unwilling to do a lot of apparently no but like and he's so about it we get it you know life happens right so that frees us up to to bring some cool guests onto the show that we wouldn't maybe have enough room in the schedule for and patrick's baby will eventually as roger knows all too well we'll be able to get up and walk around on its own.
