"And frankly, there's a lot of dudes that are good coordinators. Really good coordinators. What struggle when the whole lighter when the lights are fully on them. I look at Pat Shurmur out in out in Denver, right toxin that caused by her last night from the athletic in Denver. And I think Pat Shurmur is a really good play caller. Just a terrible head coach. And there's a huge difference in being The guy that can focus solely on Colin plays focus solely on the offense dedicate his time to working more with the quarterbacks being fully in line with your line coaches. And then once you get the head coaching responsibility, you get that head coaching paycheck. Now you're meeting with the media 3 to 4 times a week. That stress in your name gets thrown around a lot, Maura and whether or not the outside noise we want to admit gets to any of these dudes in these positions. It does right. They're all human. We will put the pants on the exact same way. Think Adam gazes a decent offensive coordinator. Now I don't know if he gets an offensive coordinator job right away. Hello, Andrew. I was kind of surprised Pat Shurmur got one right away. Man. Look at Jason Garrett. He had an offensive coordinator job in what? Three days? In New York after getting canned by the by the Dallas Cowboys last year. I mean, that was immediate. Jason Garrett won't even call in place. When he was in Dallas. He was just clapping. Coach clap. He was always fired up. They're dudes that are set to be coordinators. And there's guys that are cut out to be really good head coaches, and then there's some that kind of config until you make it. Like Sean McVeigh. I see Sean McVeigh and I think that dude was born to be a head football coach. He's an incredibly engaging personality. You listen to him talk and he has a presence. He has a mantra. Sure you could be a little bit, you know, corny, sometimes the voice a little bit high. But you can get in. You feel he walks in. One of the smartest dudes in the room, if not the smartest, do it in the room. Commands a presence. And also B and B a helping hand and At least listen when mistakes are made. Like you hear him, And you knew that he was gonna be a good head football coach. Mike Tomlin from Day one in Pittsburgh could tell that guy was going to be a really good head coach. What Then there's a guy like Vic Fangio out in Denver. Amazing coordinator. One of the best defensive minds in the last 30 years. Every place that he's gone. And then the D. C. Our defense has been top 10 in the league looking when he was in Chicago back in San Francisco when they were going to a Super Bowl of talent Cabinet that was a defensive football team. It was led by Vic. Now he's in Denver. The talent might not be there fully. But There's a totally different attitude you have to have when you're the head guy. Adam case, most likely gets himself another job in another chance, calling place. I think he's fully cooked as a head coach. But even Sam Donald says, Man, it's not gazes fall. This is the reason why I haven't thrown 60%. Yet in my career. Why haven't had even a 20 touchdown season? That stuff comes down to me. And I like that when you hear Sam Donaldson stuff and and talk and be open about his struggles as well because, while Adam gazes also looking for another opportunity Think Sam Donald Kind of knows the writing's on the wall and that his time in New York most likely up, but Sam Donald going in all the year four. Put the onus on himself to get better and knows that his struggles are not on his head coach. First of all, I take full responsibility for the way I played. You know, I just haven't played well enough. Yeah, like I'd continue to say every single week. We have great people in this organization. And so with that being said, you know, everyone's gonna take blame for certain parts of Um, you know, that's not winning games and so But again for me personally, I just I got to play better and put the team in the right positions. Toe. I'll be able to win games and make it close to the end. So Donald going into your four next year. Most likely has a new home unless somehow The Jets decided to hold both of those guys on the roster, and Donald and Lawrence makes it would make no sense to me. I think you could still probably get a first for Donald. Depending upon Andrew. What do you think? You think that that could be? Ah, move that somebody makes ah, back half of the first round or 2021 2022 1st rounder for Donald cause he's still gotta have value with two more years on that rookie contract. I really don't know, because at this point, he's look so bad. When he's played this last season. If you were talking Sam Donald last year, I completely agree with you. I think that if someone was to give up a first round pick form, they consider themselves getting lucky, You know, especially if it's a late first round pick, but now I'm not seeing more than like 1/40 in the second. So like 10th pick in the second round, sort of thing that I'd be willing to give up for what I've seen from Donald this year. I mean, there's just been regression. On just about every single skill point that you would have wanted to see progress on this year, and I understand the circumstances around him are as bad as they could be for any quarterback in the league. But that would be really concerning to me because what you want from your franchise quarterback is someone who's gonna lift the level of the people around him. And I haven't been able to see him do that this year. I know. Like I said, I know the circumstances are bad, but man, it's just been a really rough sledding for him. Yeah, it has, And it's not gotten better. Point back to when Gates got the job beginning of last year before last year, Donald was a hot name. A lot of people wanted to work with him. I don't know if he was as hot those Justin Herbert might be here. In 2021. The Chargers are going to have a decision at the head coaching spot. I want to get into that one a little bit next because We talked to Namur Shell about 35 minutes ago from the college game. Tom Herman out in Texas. Me. Jim Harbaugh, Michigan. Those guys could be on the move. Really like Anthony Linda's a coach. I don't think he survives out in Los Angeles. And the Chargers..

"They least you'd have to acknowledge that I mean, gosh, you snap a 10 game losing streak. And he plays well on the road at Arrowhead, even if it's in, you know, the time of covert when there's not a lot of fans in the stands and believe it or not, the responses so far on this pole are actually pretty positive. 35% say. Yes, if he does win that game, he should be the unquestioned starter. But I added a couple in there, whether you know you could vote for is his starter in 21 either way or needs competition in 21. In the second place on here is he's the starter either way, and that is in a dead even heat with Yes. So people of are starting to kind of come around with. Maybe he needs another season. What do you think? Yeah, I think when you see the way that this season is played out, I mean, particularly after watching the Saints game and one just how difficult it is to Just jump in and replace. I mean, I think for me for sure, just as a fan watching. I think it gives you an appreciation of what you do that a quarterback When you see someone who's not in that position on Kendall Hinton said that I think even you know you guys the show last week. There's a reason those guys get paid the big bucks right? And then it's the hardest position and almost in all the pro sports. I think the play and so you know, maybe it does give you a little bit of appreciation for what locks done, but also he missed another week. And so that's one more. In a week that he's out of his rhythm, and you're not getting to evaluate him. And so by the time this season's done, he probably won't have full 16 games under his belt, So I think you do You want to see a whole another season with a full off season and Cortland setting back in the fold, and Pat Shurmur now has worked with him. We'll have an honest even to work with him and actually figure out what he likes to do, and be able to actually install it, What he's good at and all of that. And so those are the things that you didn't get to see. And so I am surprised to hear that from the pole, but I do agree with it. Yeah, I'm a little surprised, too. I always kind of go into these things with a certain expectation, And I definitely love being surprised as well. Jeffrey, Keep up the great work at my Lai reporting. Of course you're covered two Broncos podcast is a must listen to for Broncos fans appreciate the time man. Actually appreciate it. Thank you guys. All right. Geoffrey s react. Jeffrey History on Twitter. Yeah, I want I want to talk about the results with you on the other side, too, because I expected And maybe this is just people like wanting to believe. Maybe they're projecting a certain amount of boy. If he beats the chief's on, we're no longer the doormat. That is just to live in that for a moment it is there's the holiday season. I think he's had a signature moment. Yet, right? I think, if you Texans is the closest I could look at the Texas game, and that zah start, but I don't think he's had a signature moment where he just cemented it, and it was his job. And I think he needs one. I think he needs one down the stretch..

"I got my money and then you know, he's sort of trained. Um I love the way that you just totally missed the fact that I have set this out. I got the goat Roper reference in there. I talked about cross crossing a bridge. Have you gotten to the troll underneath it yet? Inside. Jokes are funny, so good. I want to be a part of one son said. No, this is from Chris. No, It's no. It's Joe Rolls forever. It's just who he is now. Like Jerry on Parks and rec. Yes, Yes, exactly. Chris said that Yeah, I don't get that reference. You have much parks and rec. I told you I have Ryan What is wrong with Jap e? Don't Tonight Show's canceled folks were ended in early. I don't I don't think this is actually but I can't do this. I don't think we're actually on the air right now. I just sort of feel like you get to show you have you never seen parks and rec. I mean, like watched Half of an episode. I think Mm. It's better to watch the office right now, anyway. I mean, you know, Steve Carell does voice crew. So it was. It was funny. I mean, I was entertaining, like the first season of parts of Rex suck. I just felt like I feel like I was missing all the job right data which thing sucked, and I felt like he was trying really just trying too hard to be the office to be completely affair. I thought I was trying to Uganda and then it got its own legs when they got rid of Grandad. What's it kind of made the Ron Swanson character the centerpiece with these funny so Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I said, I like all the cast every time I'm tuning in. I'm just like I'm not laughing. I don't know why I'm not laughing. I should be laughing. I think gonna watch something else. And then I start starts. I was shocked like we already not to get too far afoot here. But like you haven't seen community either. I've seen. I've seen actually more episodes of community that I've seen of parks and rec bothers me. Communities good, though. Good that he's gone. I know he still producing the show. He's telling break of us left little. He's walked right up. We gotta break it up, all right. What? We're here. Not saying I'm for this from Chris. But is there an upgraded O c out there? Listen, I mean, maybe, but busts up the cut, then? Yeah, you're resetting again. And then you know you don't want to be in a situation like we were this year where people are logging for rich Cantarella. Remember when we're on the air last year, and I know we'll get to the risking your old stuff. I know there's some stuff there. But remember last year how people wanted to run that dude out of town like nobody's holding through. Locked back. Yeah, you know, I mean, now there's this love affair. With what we had with risking a rela. The grass is not always greener, just like Vic Fangio said the other day about well, parks even though wasn't appropriate Use of that, because well, parks wasn't after the contract. Hey, Always e. The grass is not always greener Things might be worse without Pat Shurmur never really know. Yeah, it could always get worse. Right here. Mike McCoy is available. Don't you dare! Don't you dare put that evil on me. Let's run it back one more time. One more. Yeah, No, he's not gonna play. He just shook his head because that's not gonna happen. All right. So, yes, A risk Bagarella out in Philly is impressed enough that he's gonna get some more opportunities. Doug Peterson's on the hot seat out there they gotta relinquish. Basically, the everybody knows At this point, the Frank Reich was the reason they want a Super Bowl. And so they're trying to figure things out. I think they're gonna start giving. But rich King gorilla has been the two minute play color and you'll notice how the offenses picked up in the two minute drill it Philly. And so now they're going to. They're going to give him more. If he resurrects Carson wins or even better if he makes Jalen hurts the starter and makes him good. I have quit at that point had been so owned that I'll have to give up sports talk and go like like I'll join Giovanni Kamasi. And be a shepherd. Wow. Look at you like that Zero body, Kamasi. Thank I'm pulling. I got all the references. I know this from Tory. Damn it, Ryan, You have to watch it in order. I appreciate that. But of all the people will be lecturing me on pop call about watching party capture. Yeah, I'm sorry, Tori. This is just not gonna be allowed. I appreciate the effort there. And certainly I need to be better. But you hadn't watched Shawshank Redemption chips in Tombstone Up until a few weeks ago. I mean, there is ah list of movies that she was seeing for the very first time just this last week that that were considered classics by everybody. In every industry. Just see me Drop dynamite, The fish tank last night. I did not the head coaching records of the last the Super Bowl coaches from last five years in their first two years compared to Vic Fangio. Oh, I didn't see that. Yeah..

"The decision from the Denver Broncos T O go remotely throughout the rest of The season. Of course, except for when they're You know, out on the field. Louisa practicing. I play that because just the difficulty of navigating this 2020 season is one of the reasons why Toni Pauline. Friend of the program Rights for Pro Football network is reporting today that big Fangio is not on any sort of hot seat. Benjamin Albright, who also writes for that website. You said as much. Broncos aren't looking to make a change. In coach is at the end of the year and Pauline saying that The difficulty of the season has actually worked to the benefit of Vic Fangio in terms of his job security because there's a level of patients built in with everything that Has to be done in order to pull off a successful season. But further than that, I think that big Fangio up intel and I put what happened last week on Drew lock. Aye, Dios. I and I suppose separating a quarterback from the rest of the bunch would have been ah. Shrewd Move with some level of four side By the way, they're doing that now. Blake Bortles will not travel. With the Broncos out to Kansas City. Just in case. But ultimately to me, That's Andrew Luck. I think that Vic Fangio when these circumstances have popped up when guys have complained about having games moved when they've, you know, had gone in the situation. They were just in with having no quarterbacks. I think that Vic Fangio finds the right Tone to strike where it's About accountability. It's about caring about the players, but being firm when necessary, you know, insert your own grandfather joke here, but I mean, that's What he's been, and that was what he was brought in to do. Is be exactly what he is. With the Broncos, of which he would have one more. Or has one more? Yeah, they wish that there were more wins on the board. I think everything else you've asked Vic Fangio to do he's done. And when you look at what's wrong with this with this team, you know Vic Fangio's barely in the top five. When it comes to people that I think you're wrong with the Denver Broncos. Joe Ellis. John Elway drew up Pat Shurmur all ahead of him. In my opinion. And We do know that there is going to have to be some Fairly significant change or changes with this Broncos team, But I don't look at Victor Changes direction first. Looking bad Schumer's direction. But I also say, you know, How much better is drew out going to be with a different offensive coordinator next year? Three offensive coordinators in three years. Doesn't Scream. Success. So I think if you're looking for A move of some significance to be made. Gotta be bringing in somebody to at least compete, if not just outright take Drew ox job. I know we had a nice period of peace without quarterback controversies. Why We're gonna be right back in there. Because that's that's this move of significance that the Broncos I think Would actually be wise to make. I don't know that any if you want to fire Pat Shurmur and as you're bringing a new quarterback fine, but the idea that changing Offensive corn ears again is going to be too drew locks benefit. I don't see it. So Shurmur and Lago We're just lock goes. And I say goes, he's probably still gonna be on the roster, but you get what I'm saying. Exchange is not the problem. I think he's actually helped the Broncos more than he's hurt them. In his two seasons. As head coach. I hear story number two. I'm a starter in this league. I think I proved that year and you have been one of the most consistent players in the whole MBA. Um Even like I said, looking back to last season, you seeing what I was able to do? Um, I think it's clear cut him in this league..

"Pat Shurmur. With a different quarterback or drew lock with the different offensive coordinator. What combination is preferable. To me, you'll be the former And however, that's gonna That change is going to come about whether it's through the draft. Or whether it's trying to acquire somebody, which we know quarterback. Good quarterbacks are very hard to find out on the market. The Broncos tried that for a couple years with case Keenum and with Joe Flacco, and it did not work either time. We think there's some guys available. We've talked about it A Matthew Stafford, potentially a Carson Wentz, a Matt Ryan, you may like one better than the other two. But those guys might all be available after this this year. So there are some options out on the market and then the the Denver Broncos when you look at the back part of their schedule. Have a good chance of climbing the draft order. And then all of a son. You're in play for One of these quarterbacks. So for looking at where the change needs to happen. The change needs to happen at the very tiptop of the organization. That's where the change needs to happen. That's way out of anybody's control. But that would cure a lot of the oils. If I had to put The majority of the blame on one human being within the Broncos organization, probably John Elway. Because while the ownership situation has been dysfunctional If whoever was in charge Just Made a change. In the president of football Operations Department. I think that some of the Dysfunction regarding the ownership situation would be Tempered a little bit. Because that's at the end of the day. That's what we want, right more than anything else as a Broncos fan you want And owner. In place so that owner can fire John Elway. More than any other reason why you would want ownership situation be figured out. When Owners chips situation might not be solved. Tell the summer of next year, and if even that And We know John Elway is a made man in this state in that city and in that organization So all we can do is call on John Elway to make The right decisions..

Browns Make It Official

"We will start with the official news out of Cleveland Scavenge to ban skis hired by the browns. They announce officially on Monday. He's thirty seven. Spent fourteen seasons as an assistant in Minnesota but has never been a head coach at any level level his entire. NFL coaching career. As I mentioned has been with one organization the Minnesota Vikings Stansky took over play calling duties on offense late in the two thousand eighteen season. Minnesota ran the ball. Forty seven percent of the time with Danske asked the play caller. That's the second highest rate in that span trailing only the Baltimore Ravens was introduced at a press conference just a little while ago. I the foremost success starts with people and I know we'll talk a lot about culture but it is absolutely about the people and everybody knows the Harry Truman quote. It's amazing what you can accomplish when no one cares who gets. That's the credit and that's what I believe. We have in our building. We have great people. I know we're going to add to it will hire G. G. M. here in the next week can or two and we're going to add to this culture that that we're building here and we have the right people and again. I can't stress enough. How excited I am the be? Just a part of did you know to use a basketball terms to my dad can understand this. I want to be the point guard for this organization. I want to bring the ball up then I wanNA share the basketball and let so what else get an easy bucket though smiling over there. WE'RE NOT GONNA I'M NOT GONNA speak anything into existence right now I can. I promise you that we're GONNA work. I've already spoken to a few of our players already. And that's what I'm about I'm about working and I'm about putting a foundation together the other. We will be methodical about it. We will not skip. Step two two and three to get to four. We're GONNA start in the foundation and then we're going to reinforce foundation Shen said we can build upon it and when I'm talking about this I'm talking about schemes and technique will be diligent about working with our players so that they can develop into the the best versions of themselves and ultimately we're building a foundation for what we hope is a championship. Effort will have a culture of accountability. We'll have structures is in place the players will understand our rules. And what we're about and we're going to demanding and we're going to hold each player accountable. Because ultimately I know this about players they they May Not come out and ask you for that. But that's what they want. Well perhaps the tenth. TIME IS THE CHARM IN CLEVELAND. Stansky is the tenth full time head coach Wjr. The browns have hired since returning to the League in one thousand nine hundred ninety nine that is the most in the league over that span of the previous nine. None have posted a winning record. Heard and not a single one has lasted more than four seasons continuity and consistency has been a real issue in Cleveland. Victor certainly something they'd like to you see changes to fanciest step in the right direction. In your opinion will I believe he is and I think that consistency where it is important. And right because you put up that list of all the coaches and the coaches that they've they've pretty much funneled through throughout the years can you provide that level of stability that they've been seeking for almost a year in and year out. Can you provide that for their now. The thing I do like about Stansky a fan ski is that he has experience with creating plays for two star receivers and I think that's something that's going to have to translate over to the Cleveland. Browns obviously with Odell Beckham junior junior and Jarvis Landry and having that experience I'm sure enticed of that for an office inside bring him in and understanding that they got to get the best out of these players in the best out of all their play makers obviously nick included In the backfield now is he going to be a leader of men and he is he going to be able to handle. The Eagles and the different personalities is that are in that locker room. Desk the biggest question that still remains to be seen. It's defense gas interviewed with the browns. Before in fact it's believed that he was the first source of politics but Desta several seasons ago and and it didn't work out. Matt you spent time with him as part of that Minnesota Vikings Organization. What can you tell us right? He he was a young quarterback coach at the time. And so when I got there was actually a little bit older than he was which is an interesting dynamic but at the same time. He's been all around that building. You know he's an administrative assistant and when he started there then. He was a quarterback coach. He's I've been with the running backs he's been with the wide receivers so he's been in all the different elements of the offensive side of the ball. He's seen the ups and downs. He's seen how free agency can impact so he's got a great feel feel. He's a great leader. He's got a presence about himself in the other thing that I think that the Cleveland browns are probably drawn to is the simple fact that this is a very quarterback friendly offensive structure that he's presented presented in for a guy like Baker Mayfield that had had his struggles last year. And maybe some confidence issues. Maybe not though. Let's see the press conference the same time. It's a quarterback friendly. There's a lot of play action. There's a lot of movement of the pockets. A Lotta easy throws to be made screen. And then there's like you said that balance forty seven percent percent of the time the run the ball. There's great balance in that offensive structure in for a young quarterback and going into his third year after some struggles. I think this is a great fit for that organization Asian and going back to when they actually made this higher People in Cleveland were telling me that it was actually his run game because we see what he was able to do with Dowling Cook and how he was able to make become a good player to really a great one and he's a central part of that offense that we now see in Minnesota and that was a big part of it but in terms of now Cleveland going forward looking for GM the way it was explained to me is they really want these to head coach and gm to work as one. This is why they moved on. From John Dorsey Percy and Freddie Kitchens. They didn't feel like this was working together. So they're looking for someone who has the same vision and the analytics department obviously is of of crucial part of Cleveland. And what they're looking for a head coach and I think that's why Stefanski became that lead candidate because he's accepting of it. He wants to be part of that and You know I think I saw some reports out there about how Cleveland is demanding that their head coach presents the game plan to ownership and really the way it was explained to me. It's not so much that they want to see the game plan. They just want everyone to be in sync to go over to make sure they're all on the same page headed into the game. Well you can't blame him and and that is something that clearly was not the case. I think you make a great point. It's poor in that somebody come in and be able to work and mold Baker Mayfield but also be able to be the CEO and run this whole organization and have everybody else be accountable. I think Freddie Kitchens might have had one of those two things that went by the wayside outside the quarterback with the hiring in Cleveland. What it does mean? Is that every chair on the head. Coaching carousel is now accounted for. The browns were the fifth and final team to hire a new head coach in the off season. Three of the hires tires Stefanski as we just discussed Joe Judge with the giants and Matt Raw and Carolina our first time. NFL head coaches the other two quite the contrary contrary Mike McCarthy in Dallas Ron Rivera in Washington they will get a second chance or in some cases third or fourth various established. NFL head coaches of of all the five. Who Intrigues you? The most in their new spot intrigues me is Matt Rule. I WanNa see what really transpires here right. He seven years sixty million dollar contract. That's a big commitment big commitment. I mean we might need to think about going into coach. That's it has everything else that they're also saying that they're making a commitment to Cam Newton with the type of style and the offensive structured. That they've set up McCaffrey's there I mean they've got the pieces of the puzzle there now. It's interesting to see how that that offensive structure from college translates to the NFL. which is I mean? There's been guys like chip Kelly in the past right John Harbaugh's price guy. That's been the most successful but that was more of a pro style offense with the most the most recent Kingsbury in Arizona so cliff Kingsbury. Excuse me it's been a mixed bag. There's no question. Let me ask you this just circling back to something you said by hiring Matt rule it you believe this means a commitment to Cam Newton. Can you explain why why I just think that The Baylor and watching their offense of structure and the RPO that takes place that's run pass options and all the different things that they're well versed in and that the Baylor offense has been historically historically very successful with in terms of that offense of structure I just think that that Fits Cam Newton's game very well and so I believe that that's a statement saying look. We wanted to bring somebody in here that you're going to be comfortable in this type of offense of structure and go out and be able to put yourself in a position to have success extent to intrigue you for me. Is Joe Judge my beloved giants. I think well I just think because going into it. Once I saw the Vacancy Happen at the head coaching position I was all right. The giants are GonNa come in here and get either like a Ron Rivera type or even McCarthy and get a guy that will come in and commanding presence. Once he walks into the building and I think with the hiring of Joe Judge just left me like okay I. It felt like the same cycle almost felt like coach mcadoo a couple years ago when you give a guy a shot and bring him in if he can transcend The coaching position or the year. After that when you bring in Pat Shurmur and you try to bring take a chance on another guy. Felt like we're taking another chance on another guy but granted. I must say I loved after the press conference I loved his mannerisms I love. He literally embodied what the New York Giants Football Organization is all about when he stepped up there on that podium Liam so I say that with a grain of salt because I love the press conference and I think he's going to bring something different than the other two coaches did in the past. But I still left me scratching my head in terms of who was out there here in the type of guys that could've came in that building and commanded a present these guys by the way Matt Rule and Gioja Geno. It's not about winning the press coverage but they did rule who was must see TV. I was just watching. He's missing time with the giants. Who so I knew all about? He's got does I think you know obviously recruiting such a big part of being a head coach in college. You don't mean to recruit You know when you're in the NFL. Which is why? Broncos Finalizing Deal to Make Pat Shurmur New Offensive Coordinator

"Well we just talk to my class are brokers insider who told us that the deal is done with that tactic Schirmer to be the new see for the Denver Broncos official press release from the team hopefully coming sometime before the end of the week big al with Schirmer being the new offense of coordinator what do you see as the pros and cons for this this young this young offense with the very young rookie quarterback is gonna be going into your to what I'm looking for are the things that that you can give a team and that's easy to roles and I always talk about this because I believe that that's the key to winning football games in this league how can you create an easy throw a one on one getting the guy wide open like we saw Devine to Adam's last night plan for the Packers you know the Packers go with the heavy formation they run a play that look like it's going to be a post but it then it turns into a corner is a seven right and then you look up and you say all my goodness the guy has a football it's one on one coverage he makes one guy miss and any out runs the coverage that's it easy to roll okay it's not fit the ball in the window it's not a drop back play act soon getting a guide you know own a seventeen yard dig route it's none of those things it's making the girls that the good players make to wide open guys but you have to design those plays for those guys to be wide open and the quarterback shouldn't be surprised when a wide open and when they're not wide open take the ball and run it that's what the good teams in the NFL do that's how you win football games in this business by getting your quarterback easy throws that you can feel good about and we didn't do that especially not against the Kansas City Chiefs are we rich gang real and I hate to see guys getting fired trust me it's it's not it's it's you know nobody wants to see that I wish there was a way that he could have stayed on and work with the quarterbacks something of that nature but maybe it's maybe it's too muddy if he's in Rome but you know it just we just have to have a change in and once again the greatest throws in the NFL aren't necessarily the ones that are forty M. fifty yards down the field like we saw this weekend but we also saw we also saw Patrick my homes we were out to the running back I think it was Williams out of the backfield on what looked like to be a six star pass it ended up being a seventeen yard touchdown the design of the play against the covers that was played was perfect and the guy had a free run to the end zone I mean those are the plays that you expect out of a great offensive coordinator and that's certainly what I'm looking forward Pat Shurmur who spent a lot of time with Andy Reid and Philadelphia I take it I think he was there for at least ten seasons with Andy Reid going from offense of line coach tidy and coats two quarterbacks coach so he understands the offense it's complete and of course in that Minnesota offense that's what we have to go last because that's where he was calling plays exclusively you look at that team and what they were able to do and the way that they brought on Adam Thielen out of no where to become a star well you know that he understands what kind of receipt what the receivers need to look like and not how they need to run there are so many different ways that we can look at this as be an improvement to be an improvement to what we had last year in part of it believe it or not Joe Joe is evaluating players for the upcoming draft that's a big big part of it because trust me there is a common formula to run in this offense and really make it work Stefon Diggs is the guy that blows the doors off of the defense is for the Minnesota Vikings before we and you look at back at Pat Shurmur when he was with Andy Reid it was the son Jackson now what is a in to read as he has he'll explosive wires see what to add to re kill who blows the doors off so I'm almost guaranteed you I'm almost guaranteeing you were going to find a guy that can blow the doors off of the defense in round one or two of this year's NFL draft that's how you make that all things work do you have a guy that can a workhorse guy who can catch the balls and make it happen that's called sudden but we need one of those guys that is scary says that blows the doors off the defense the evaluation process of what that guy looks like I trust Pat Shurmur more than I do John Elway to

Giants go all-in with GM Dave Gettleman, who 'won't be an issue'

"The giants opted to part ways yesterday with head coach Pat Shurmur after two seasons and a nine twenty three record team though announced the GM Dave Gettleman will return for twenty twenty and also spearhead the search for new head coach here as gettleman earlier New York today before we go any further. I just wanted to be clear. Pat Shurmur as fine. A man as I've ever worked with there are many reasons whether New York football giants who've been the current state and I take my share of cup building. John said yesterday I have had Mrs however given where we started in December seventeen. We've made progress in many areas on an off the field. We're encouraged by and see as a sound foundation for the team to come. Look there have been Mrs. There've been some some hits. There would be those that argue. They have quarterback running the pieces in place rob making it. I would think desirable situation for a lot of head coaching candidates. Yeah I mean if you look at what they have there. You have a franchise quarterback who's very young so if you're offensive minded coach maybe you you'd take that as a positive. Look I have a very one of the top running running backs in the NFL right now. Very Explosive Young Guy. That's going to be on the team for a while. And you look at your quarterback I think the the hard part would be the GM staying so maybe he would have more influence on personnel decisions so that could be an issue but as far as just players their offense they have the keys. That are there for winning. But defensively they're going to have to rebuild on defense. I'm sorry Dan. The point was made yesterday that while they announce it ghetto ones returning and could be in a tough spot if there are potential candidates out there and talked about this that want more of a say you know. There's a new age here. Where head coaches make a lot of the decisions and now they're kind of backed into a corner feel like that's the case around the League Eh? You know whenever you're talking about the coaching hiring process. And you know let's say we're discussing the giants situation in your talking with other perhaps candidates or other head coaches from other teams teams about what's going on. They'll always say did he get hope. Is he getting full. Control getting power. It's always the first question people ask. Because that's what they want because we've seen what happens when a head coach. She doesn't feel like he's the one that can make the decisions and it becomes frustrating and it usually doesn't work out. I feel like the team that allow their coach to say and work in tandem with the GM GM those are the ones that usually are successful or the giants head. Coaching search has begun. They've made inquiries around the league will continue to watch

I during that time so the questions can be a Whittal hard to hear. But the context of their answers, usually gives you a good idea of what questions were asked Schumer's podium starts a couple minutes into it because the stream started without audio. So there's not really much. We could do their Ed is in Indianapolis. He's going to have an episode of Valentine's views assuredly going over the commentary and analysis of what was said during their time at the podium and also afterward us, so that's going to be on the feed soon. But for right now, this is just going to be the raw audio of the pressures. We're going to start with Shurmur and Dan get into Gettleman. So hope you guys enjoy this. Go ahead. From on the number sex. What did you look more any value out of? Yup. Well, I think they gotta have the the traits. You're looking for to play the position, and you know times have changed. You know, there's quarterbacks coming all shapes and sizes, and then you obviously have to watch them play. They need to be productive. They need to make good decisions. They throw the ball accurately. Throw the ball on time. They got a lead their team to victories, and they gotta do all the things necessary to play the position. And so that's what we look at. And we evaluate all the quarterbacks every year, regardless of whether it's perceived. We might be looking for one. The Vanderbilt quarterback. Well, I'm extremely proud of him. You know, he's made great decisions. You know? He did an excellent job in high school giving himself the opportunity to go to a place like Vanderbilt graduate in three and a half years helped him win games. And I just. Nah..

Completions move the ball and try to score points. The only thing I can keep do is keep keep doing his keep working keep grinding try to bring this team together. It's a new scheme a lot of new players. It's just a matter of everybody just making those improvements in quote, that's typical Eli manning. And I mean, that's a good way. Don't blame anybody else. I have to be better as a quarterback Eli. You're right. Your offense coordinator slash head. Coach Pat Shurmur has to be better as they play caller, no matter how much you've made think you still have left is still dependent on a scheme. They can't scheme the right to make you better. Keep you improving. You're going to be losing this job a lot sooner than anybody could have anticipated. When this season got started. "They have the tickets, but I gotta start. Eagles kill them. But the story of the game is is really Odal Beckham, but I also wanna talk about Pat Shurmur the, let's start with Odell Beckham I tweeted this out and of course I love my millennials, but the responses were pretty typical. What I kind of expected in my mentions that when I was in Philadelphia coach read suspended the Sean Jackson for a game last year. Andy also suspended Marcus Peters. Now the NFL is a, you know, a big business and they are not in the business of suspending their own players. It's been proven, especially over the last six, seven, eight years. They want no part of that Ray rice hit his wife, the ravens didn't care. We. We've seen Jerry sign, you know, Greg hardy of beating his girlfriend. We've seen all kinds of crazy stuff you can do. You just endless amounts of stupid criminal. Activity in the team will not suspend you. Andy Reid is proven like he sent Terrell Owens home. He's. Suspended Sean Jackson, he's spending Marcus Peters on his own. Now again, those guys didn't commit criminal activities, but he has no problem taking discipline into his own hands, and I would call Andy pretty liberal coach in terms of when it comes to letting players be themselves and letting them be them, and I'm watching Odal Beckham junior tonight thinking now listen, is he the problem they're winning or losing? Now? Is he an exceptional player? One hundred percent? Is he a major pain in the ass? I really don't know if there's a bigger one right now in the NFL. He kinda reminds me of Terrell Owens without all the production tonight when he freaks out and he leaves before halftime. And I know Pat Shurmur claim that he needed an IV. I don't really believe him, and then he freaks out after saquon Barkley gets the touchdown. Listen, ally manning is their main problem. They're not winning or losing necessarily because of Odell Beckham. Junior but big picture now that you've paid Odio Beckham junior, here's one rule of life, and I think we can all relate to this whether you make a hundred grand, whether you make a million dollars whether you make one hundred million dollars Odell got ninety five and I think what sixty five year and teed you typically don't change with more money if anything, it just really puts a magnifying glass on who you actually are. You don't become a better person or easier to deal with the more money you get. You know, if you're a normal person without money, you probably stay the same with money. If you're a crazy person without money, you're probably going to be crazy with money. Odell was a head case without money. I mean, without big money, he was a first round pick. He's become crazier with money. But again, I have he is talented enough that I would deal with, but you gotta nip it in the bud soon enough. And next year you're probably going to have a rookie quarterback. You have to attempt. You've already gone all in with your money. So there is somewhat of a sunk cost. You're in the Odell Beckham junior business, at least for the next three years. Well, next year, with a rookie quarterback, you have the star rookie running back. It's going to be a second year player. You need to get attempt to get some what a hold of this. And again, I, it was probably a bad example to bring up those guys. The league suspended because they were criminal scumbags like Dijon, Jackson, Marcus Peters. Just somewhat like Odell just head case on the field. Never really been in trouble, but just needed to be disciplined. I mean, this is football. Discipline comes with the territory in the sport, and I was thinking, I tweeted this tonight just Pat Shurmur one. Does he have the balls to does he have the power? I don't know either. I don't think he has the balls and I'm definitely not sure if he has the power to do it, but Odell Beckham junior just needs to be suspended for a week just for the big picture health of the franchise. You have to attempt to help him change now. It's probably too late because the moment you cut him a check, you establish the, you don't really care because he had already acted like this. And again, this team is going nowhere fast, and I'm not even saying he is the reason they're losing..

"Have us ask some really serious questions about Eli manning. Right. Like, I think lost in the heart of all this because Odell Beckham junior came out was asked that question himself was asked if manning was the problem with this giants offense. He's not gonna. Cool. Shallow and trying to take it to the house. But I want to I want to go over the top. Fine print. I'm sick of having to take your five yard slants to the house. Let me go deep like the Andrei Hopkins who leads the NFL and catches over twenty plus yards. Let me have some of that. And so I think Lawson all this is. Yeah, this is going to be an issue. You can already. Hear Pat Shurmur frustration Veneto that being said UI Manning's what's at the heart of this. Right. This offense doesn't go because the offensive line is still a work in progress. But be your quarterback not what he wants was. And with all these new weapons the growing pains may be too much as this team looks to try and figure out what its future looks like that was my second question. Do you? How many times you need to use the word Veneto today? So Pat Shurmur in his frustration with E or excuse me with Odell Beckham junior's comments and having to address them publicly got up in front of the media and tried to just take control of this right away. And I can understand because as interesting as I find Odell honest assessment of this football team as a head coach they new head coach in the number one media market in the country. Probably not. If you're looking to deal with this, and I'm going to answer all the drama questions right now. And I'm going to go back to what I said. All right. I addressed it with Odell I addressed it with our team publicly declared that I didn't agree with his comments. And I asked anybody that was interested if they wanted clarification Goto Dell because he's a big, man. Now, I'm not going to give the public account of flesh on this. That would make me small not strong. And these are the kind of things in my opinion, when you have the locker room that we have that will help galvanize you because the locker room took care of it. And that's all I'm saying on it. Veneto done. Let's talk football not drama. Niko Niko Niko punctuate it with Fini. Joe it undermines the rest of your message. Hopefully, Pat Shurmur will learn that valuable lesson. We'll see the locker room you want your leadership to come from within. No, no Beckham junior trying to justify this as leadership. They said if this is the reason we came together the way we did in this game. I do it one hundred times over all that stuff undermined when your head coach punctuates his comments like this Veneto Mason Crosby missed five field goals yesterday. What does the equivalent bad day?.

"Getting a quote from Pat Shurmur after that game, probably going to be a little tougher to come by because man, it just you felt bad for ally manning, and we've got another Eli manning me Mata last night him getting picked up off the ground with the most shocked and disturbed face. You've seen, it's like he saw a ghost, but that ghost was the entire Cowboys defense charging at him yet again on another play Cowboys defense that last night we saw and rod Maranello is not a guy who's known for heating up the quarterback, bringing a ton of bullets pressure. He's very much a do your job, do it. One hundred miles an hour, going towards the ball, fundamentally sound very disciplined defense. But in the last couple of games, we've seen the Cowboys sort of resort to that. Now, a lot of the focus got made, DeMarcus, Lawrence going up against. Eric flowers on the edge, Eric flowers, you sort of been the poster for the giants lack of success on offense and up front, but that permeated last night. And now as a giants team, you lose even more depth. Up the middle as last night, their starting center goes down with an injury, and anytime you see the air, the air cast, come out generally a bad sign for what the future holds there for a group where I someone asked me yesterday is the scheme is the quality of players. And I said, well, when you've tried to change out the quality of players upgrade that you also do that at the expense of any continuity that you had net group. So now you've got a group that's not very skilled, especially on the right side and all newly minted trying to work together in ways that just make it difficult in this CBA or in any time period in NFL football. And the net result is in manning that looks like he's running for his life and saquon Barkley who, honestly yesterday impressed me more than any other effort we'd seen thus far from saquon. We can talk about a couple of the big runs that he broke during the preseason in week one, the skill set that we know he has. But what he had overcome yesterday just to have anything remotely resembling success. S. on a given play, showed me he was worth whatever investment you've put into him and then some, whether on the positive games for the giants. I have no idea because this still comes down to you. I manning who points out that this offense of this team still allow long way to go when you've got new players and you got new new scheme, new coaches, sometimes it can take a little a little time, especially the first game on the road, and it can take a little bit to get your rhythm and get things going. So everybody can ask him figure out from the coaches what what we can do do better do differently to put us in a better position. I last here on ESPN radio saquon Barkley twenty eight.

"So I hope he does that at some point if he doesn't know where it came from, but mid, no red, no red isn't that their alternate jersey. So they lost in those and Mira said no more good. I like it. Good. Go back to just get back to the balloon white. All wanna. See for me the the white with the blue and red on the sleeves with the full giants on the helmet. Yes, that's like my favorite. I agree. That's one of mine to all the thing. Is this something that is not talked about with pack? I love that term. I do to the one thing that I find hunt funny and I can't not think about this. The Browns is pulled a picture of Pat Shurmur. Okay. Okay. And then when that's up there, open up a new tab and pull up a picture of rich Gannon and tell me they're not brothers from another mother because I look at them sometimes like that's the same guy. All right. So there's rich. Yup. And there's Pat. There's real as much as I thought, no, they're just old white guys. Okay. You know, white people look to say. All right. So let's do some funny quotes. This one is Michael Bennett on Carson Wentz. I like we have this on there that can just look now he gets to distracted mug about on Carson Wentz talking about him being healthy and being injured. He probably went to Germany or Switzerland or some shit because he looked good out there. They got that shit in Germany. How you think Tom Cruise looks like that you think he's doing regular stuff. He's fifty five and he looks like that he's jumping off buildings slowing down Bruce Willis, he's still getting it why the accusing is doing. I know starting quarterback performance, enhancing drugs. H. e. think so. I think everybody in Hollywood that does those kind of movies is yes, they're all Mark. Wahlberg body does transformations every year. Have you ever seen it? It's like he's a dad and then seven weeks later, he's a bodybuilder. Then it goes back to a dad, and then you're like, holy shit. He's jacked again, and he gets really just, I mean, so I just like that Carson Wentz is being grouped into the same group as Tom Cruise and Bruce Willis Germany and got that old white guys. I love Michael. Bennett's takes a man. He is saints, head, coach, Sean Payton. Our return game is kinda like the bachelor right now. We have about twelve contestants all with roses. We don't know who are returners going to be, and if she doesn't like any of them will bring in more like it apparently watches about sir. Do you don't know? No, I don't watch any shows even though you could have been the bachelor the bachelor. That's right. And I saw made stale. That's the one show I've got into. I like success. I like succession to. I have to. I have missed some shows. And they're okay. I saw last night. I've seen a few imagined that succession is like what it's like to be in the SIMS family exactly feel has this, you're trying to overthrow fill and then find some way to screw and take his money. Sounds good. And this is my last quote, and this is not funny. This is more of we knew it Gebreel peppers quote, my mindset is, I don't know that version of myself last year I can hardly watch tape of myself. So this year I don't care what I've gotta do. I'm proving to everybody, especially myself what I've got to offer. It was a shock to him. It was not a shock to you, but it was definitely a shock to him into a lot of people. I'm rooting for him and I hope he does. I know we'll because he was the most over hype guy, the two thousand seventeen draft. And I know a lot of people were, you know, call me a hater whatever else I always give my true football. I mean, this is a kid from jersey. I watched the play high school football. I wanted to say nothing but good things about him. Yeah, but yes, his problem and he's still going to have to prove to me is what position is he? Where does he play college? Football is not the NFL at Michigan. He got to play games against certain teams where there wasn't another NFL. Fire on the offense, aside of the ball. So it's a different level of competition take away from Michigan, and this is something that I always appreciate is you noticed they were hiding him..
