Is the Word 'Conservative' Applicable Today? Dr. Steve Turley Explains
"Conservative, at least I think I am. I hate labels, I grew up under Maggie Thatcher. I guess I'm a paleo con or an old school conservative. But here's the problem, Steve. So theoretically conservatives want to conserve. They want to conserve that which has been demonstrated over millennia to work. Traditional values, the family, man is a man, woman is a woman and so forth. Conserve that which we know works. But in the last 80 years, they've destroyed that. So there is nothing to conserve. I mean, unless you go out to the rural, the heartland, there's nothing to conserve of any value where there is political power. So here's my question to you. Is the word conservative applicable today, if not what do we need to call it? And then secondly, how much harder is the job of those like you and me and those who believe in our nations in the westphalian system and national sovereignty and traditional values to be successful if we're basically recreating, we have to revivify that which the left is dismantled dismantled in the last 80 years since, you know, Antonio gramsci. Yeah, wow. Yeah. How many more questions? Many, many, but let's start with these ones. Oh, that's brilliant. No, I think you're right. I mean, conservatism is going through sort of a redefinition right now with the neocons getting pushed out. Finally, mercifully. And thanks to your team coming in in 2016, 2017. Yeah, to be right. To be and I love how you say things that work for a thousand years because that's the way I think we have to think. That's why I use the term Christendom in the book. I didn't just want to the original title was something on the coming Christian majority. And I got pushed back on that by some colleagues saying no, no, no. I mean, we got to go deeper. This isn't just pat Robertson two. Kind of thing. This is pat Robertson is dependent on generations generations and generation form. So definitely conservatism today, I think, is much more of the, you know, Russell Kirk and Edmund Burke sort of traditionalist. It's one who believes. Are we trad cons? Yeah, there you go. That's right. We are, we are. Medieval cons, something like that, right?

"Really historic changes in the debt of some of the poorest countries in the world. What about that? We've still got a long way to go, don't we? David, Bono is an unlikely, but very close friend. I will confess it. I'd never heard of him before we had our meeting. And Sheryl Sandberg had to force me to take the meeting because I thought secretaries of the treasury should only meet with people who had a first name and a last name. But he was mesmerizing both in his charisma and his knowledge. And he drove that debt relief program forward. We had an unlikely coalition, pat Robertson, senator Jesse, helms, and we were able to do something that I think was hugely important for the African continent at that time. Sad to say, right now, the world needs comprehensive debt relief for the poorest countries and what the world is getting is grudging, incremental, partial, limited, small efforts. And we've got to find a way to do better. And I hope that I was going to get the band together again. I'm certainly willing to do my part to help this time it's going to be different because a lot of that debt is owed to China and finding a way even when things are vexed with China to involve them in helping these countries move forward based on an understanding of how they see the issue is going to be necessary and profoundly important for a large number of human lives. And finally, Larry, give us a moment if you would on what we normally do on this program, which is talk about what happens this week and specifically on the question of the likelihood of a recession. We saw developments in the marketplace. Oil price coming down, bond yields coming down. Stocks coming down. Most people think that has to do with real anticipation of a significant recession. Where are you on that? I've been, I've been saying soft landing very unlikely for a while, and I think it's looking even more unlikely right now. I noticed that the consensus as reflected by the FT university Chicago survey of a group of 50 economists is now moving closer to where I've been. They're saying that we're going to have a recession and that the unemployment rate will peak at 5 and a half percent. That's up from where they were, way ahead of where the fed is. I've been saying 6%. So I think there's a growing coming together that we probably are going to make more progress on inflation than many people expected, but it's because the fed is going to do what's necessary, but there's likely to be some adverse aspect of that. But David, next week, I hope we can talk about what's happening globally because we tend to focus here just on the American picture, but the two other major polls of the economy, China, and Europe are both going to have a huge impact on how this all plays out globally. Let's do exactly that next week. Thank you so much to Larry summers. Our very special contributor here on Wall Street week

"Pat Robertson and Khomeini like coordinating. In any way. So how did it happen? No, it's great. I don't know. It's a pushback against something else that was happening, but I don't know. I find that stuff fascinating how societies move as a whole. All right, how about a break? Yes. I think we're doing good so far. Oh man, you jinxed us. And we'll talk a little bit more about

"I used a brief Asian study of the Bible. It's pretty fascinating, but people go, Sam, do you think you could do it again? Do you think you could ever be able to preach again? Do you think there's anything left inside you that has any good to it? That could shine a light into somebody's lost way. Do you think if you have to if you're so what's riding on the line and you have to testify and you had to make a business if it was a final answer? Why would you do? Well. On a rush. Well, I don't know, I guess maybe. See how much energy it takes? Fine. These guys don't do that anymore. Now they're smooth, you know? Now they have amusement parks and satellites. Lord told me to get a satellite. This guy didn't own a horse, but he wants them to have a saddle head. I had to walk at night because he didn't have a pair of shoes and these bikers like. I don't know. Pat Robertson, the lord told me to run for president. Yeah, I bet he did. Well, the lord must want to make you look like a complete ass on the political arena. He's gonna have a fun night. He's gonna be driving home election night going here with us for him. Yeah, great. Thanks for making me look like a fucking ass. Where's the nearest bar? I'm gonna beat somebody's dance get on there. I'm ready to live. Oh, is he gonna be best? God's, I'm never gonna. I got bored. I got more as I go. Run for president. Watch it. Watch him do it. He probably has a lot of fun. Hey, Internet. Tonight, tonight, I'm gonna wake you up about three in the morning and having him take his tire pressure. Watch this. Batman is reward. Yeah, I want you to go out and check your tire pressure. Get out of bed. Yeah. I guess the lord likes to have a good laugh once in a while. Listen, dot FM. I used to live in New York and I love living there 'cause you can walk around everywhere and you know when I walk around sometimes people recognize me from things they've seen me in TV or whatever and they'd say you know stuff and a lot of times I wouldn't hear what they said because I'd have headphones on so I kind of just go cool man, glad you like the show and I just keep walking and this one guy said something to me one time and I went cool man, glad you like the show and then right when I walked past him I realized, oh man, that guy didn't say anything about the show. He went, hey man, your flies down and I'm like, cool man, glad you like the show. Glad you liked me and my dick pop out of my bags. Come back next week, you see one of my balls. Like, it's crazy that we get we get guilted about this. Women want to come. Of course we want to come. What girls are having sex? Like, oh no, I'm just honored to be witnessing your process, right? Just so cool to be a part of, you know, I don't want to feel the one good thing we're allowed as humans. No. Just you, please anywhere. Make your girls come, guys. It's just explaining correctly. It's just, I remember as a very young girl, too young. It was broken down for me. It was like, be careful, Amy. Men only want one thing. They are all going to try and fuck you. Okay. "So when the word Nazi is used in Russian propaganda, the idea is to label someone who is against the Russian people and wants to harass and hurt Russian people. I'm from I'm from Estonia, and we are often labeled as Nazis in Russian propaganda too. Interesting. I think that makes total sense. And we had multiple people right in to make that point. So I think that's very interesting. Yeah, I did not have the Russian perspective on that. Interesting. Very interesting. Nazis are just bad guys who do bad things to Russians. Right. All right. And then also James wrote into us to say, I'm 57, and remember pat Robertson's obsession with the end times in Soviet American conflict from the 80s. Oh. He had several books about it and how it was going to start our Armageddon and bring upon the end times. It's no surprise that he's screaming his pants at this at this conflict because he sees it as the fulfillment of his end times obsession. Oh my God. So what if it's 30 years later? Right. In line with his logic, Putin has to invade Israel because that's what's going to bring about the end of the world and God will return to earth. Wow. That makes total sense. Like, yeah, he literally predicted all that shit back in the Cold War era and none of it came true. And at this point, the man's used to his prophecies not coming true. Yeah, but it's probably where his longevity comes from, right? Like he's holding on. It's like, I have to be right about this. Yeah, exactly. It hasn't happened yet. Yep. So the first burn. It's gotta happen at some point, right? Oh my goodness. Well, we have some folks to thank, and I'm gonna start us off Cynthia, who wrote into us and said that her birthday in spring are just around the corner, so it must be time to give one more, give her one time donation to her favorite ex Mormons. They're <Speech_Male> allowing them. <Speech_Male> Yeah. <Speech_Male> And the other thing is, <Speech_Male> you know, <Speech_Male> one of the audio <Speech_Male> clips that I <Speech_Male> elected <SpeakerChange> not to <Silence> play today <Speech_Male> because <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> we had fucking <Speech_Male> pat Robertson <Speech_Male> was <Speech_Male> a clip of <Speech_Male> a round <Speech_Male> table of people. <Speech_Male> They were on a Zoom <Speech_Male> meeting. I don't know <Speech_Male> who they were. <Speech_Male> I listened <Speech_Male> to it and then went <Speech_Male> away. So I can't <Speech_Male> tell you who they were. <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> But they were <Speech_Male> <Silence> clearly very right <Silence> wing. <Speech_Male> People, <Speech_Male> and they <Speech_Male> were like, they <Silence> were talking about <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Putin and the invasion <Silence> and everything. <Speech_Male> <Silence> And one of <SpeakerChange> them said, <Speech_Male> listen, <Speech_Male> here's <Silence> it's very simple. <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> If Nancy Pelosi <Silence> is for it, <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> <Speech_Male> obviously, <Speech_Male> we just choose <Speech_Music_Male> the opposite. <Speech_Male> Oh my God. <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> And <Speech_Male> everyone on the panel was <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> like, yep, <Silence> exactly. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Silence> And that's where we're <Speech_Male> at. <Speech_Male> That is what <Speech_Male> is happening here <Speech_Male> in these United States. <Speech_Male> They said it out loud. <Speech_Male> They're not even embarrassed <Speech_Male> by it. <Speech_Male> That's unbelievable. <Speech_Male> She needs <Speech_Male> to convert <Speech_Male> to some evangelical <Silence> <SpeakerChange> sect. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> ASAP. <Speech_Male> Right? <Speech_Male> She needs to <Speech_Male> start showing up at Greg <Speech_Male> locks. <Speech_Male> Ten. than a dozen children killed since the beginning of Russia's invasion at least These are the latest numbers 352 civilians including 14 children That was probably that was yesterday Two days ago They're saying more than 4500 Russian troops have been killed but I don't know if that's according to Ukraine or UN has been able to get but even UN has said I don't know that they're going to have accurate numbers around for a while Belarus who yesterday I said could me Okay The Putin backed president of Belarus has warned that World War three could be about to begin as he reportedly prepares his troops to assist with Russia's mass scale invasion of Ukraine He warned the crisis in Ukraine could spark a global conflict He said Russia is being pushed toward a third World War Oh I'm sorry Russia is They are not We should be very reserved and steer clear of it because nuclear war is the end of everything Yeah No kidding I mean this is the thing Jody just you understand the instincts of our parents and grandparents in World War II To stop the bully Right I mean you're like of course this is why he's threatening nukes so that we all none of us do anything Right So we just watched this 40 mile line of tanks roll into Kyiv And it really is the moral dilemma of our time I think And I just don't I just I hope I pray everything for the Ukrainian people but it's above my pay grade as to pockets One of my personal favorites meal team 6 because they are all a little hefty Thank you for getting there They should be getting their caravans of trucks complaining about freedom about having to wear a freaking mask And go over there and drive some ammunition and food and water to the grandmothers that are fighting an actual dictator Did you see that by the way did you see the woman that they've gotten some abandoned Russian tanks She's teaching people how to fix them and drive them Long-term mix was a tank instructor Yeah she was In Israel She was It is real She was a tank instructor And a model Yeah well Well there you go you do As you do in Israel I realize what a niche I was in It's a difficult to find that again Deep driving models That's tough That's a very very long time ago She was a runway model in Europe and then a ticket A runway model not a runaway She had a fancy executive job She was very smart She was Anyway I think I met her with the exact same time you did Yeah And you had a very different reaction We thought she had a crush on Carlos Yes Yes Okay Turned out not to be the case Okay Jodi where was I I know I don't know I'm not a tank I don't know It'll just women Sunflower woman just tank girl as they're calling her Ukraine But I think he did not count on the spirit of the Ukrainian people This is what they're saying that even if they I mean logic would say they're going to take over at some point but how do you keep a puppet government in the people do not want No They've already overthrown Putin puppets twice I believe And so yeah again don't know what the endgame is Oh pat Robertson knows what the endgame is You want to wait till we get back for that Yeah yeah thank God pat Robertson came out of retirement That's a tease But the endgame is we've read the ball Stick around for a pat Robertson spoiler alert We may not be back from this commercial break Okay After the hour this portion of the show brought you by the last company I realized I guess the interests are the self interest argument is like, I'm not sure what it would be like to become collecting too much wealth. You become disconnected from your society or something. I don't know, I'm not sure. Why it would be bad? Because I mean, you can't spend it, right? Really? That's true. Yeah, that's a good. You get stuck in this in this system of acquisition, right? Yeah, that's true. Yeah, yeah. And then you have to finance going to space and stuff like that. Exactly. Right. Marx called the capitalist rational misers. Okay, race. It's not that they're just hoarding gold in the basement. It's that they're they spend their goal to get more gold. Right. Right. Yeah, that makes sense. All right. I do know that, yes. She's like that, but a volunteer. We didn't trick her anything. She just does this for fun. She's also a crypt keeper who's very badly disguised as a pink troll doll. Well, last week, she announced the rules about aborted fetuses in heaven. In case you were wondering, if a mom gets to heaven, the mom can pick the age for their aborted fetus who's also in heaven. Really? I'm really sympathetic to the aborted babies, just like, okay, first year bird of me and now I'm two for all eternity because you like my cheeky cheeks? You're the worst Diane, the worst. Can I tell you that? So I'm gonna start with a few other important details about fetal tissue that we know about thanks to cat Kerr. For example, a miscarried fetus ends up going back inside the mother's uterus. Does it? She said, literal words, God will put it back. And with about 23 million known miscarriages in the world every year, that means God is putting them back about 44 times every minute that we know about. It actually takes up a bunch of God's time just this way. I can't be the only one picture and this is like a Lucy and Ethel at the chocolate factory type situation. Absolutely, yeah. Just mumbling to himself. I knew I should have made him do it like seahorses. Forever. By the way, we also learned from cat Kerr that right after Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court, all the aborted fetuses in heaven sang and celebrated. Also, she stole our idea for an adorable Broadway musical. I.

Yes you read at least as much about jim baker. He's read the bible. Whatever miracle cure. He's hawking this week. Are you ready to tell us. His tail owned. I've got buckets of great information for all right. So i w- why. Jim baker okay so we live in a world now which is daily defined by huxterism from our politicians to social media from lifestyle gurus to religious nuts at every possible turn. We are confronted by powerful forces seeking to deprive us of our money our agency and our critical faculties while the tools these frauds us become vastly more powerful than ever before many of the names and faces that have been fleecing. Unfortunately i used to think that he was just a rather pathetic. Kook selling freeze dried buckets of armageddon slop too credulous rapture loons but his story is so much more than that. Jim baker is not right that more. Jim baker is the very epitome of the bullshit artists and his scams are bigger and much more vile than you may imagine. Yeah and i just want to say at the outset before we begin. It's worth noting that like. It's all well and good to talk about. Some poor rubes got tricked into buying snake oil when everybody died of their teeth in fourteen. Four to but someone is ordering jim baker products right now on the internet. They have to scroll past the news results. About what a fraud. He is to buy this shit dot wrong. It all born in forty to rally baker and ferny illin- irwin james. Orson baker began life not far from here. Actually in muskegon michigan. I couldn't find much information about his parents or his childhood but he went off to bible college in minnesota at a place called north central university. Well sitting in old book full of bronze age myths about a vengeful blood. God jim matt and fell for the lovely and not at all cartoon con made up. Tammy faye lavallee your later in nineteen sixty one that means the valley that does mean valley. Yes thank you for the translation a year later in nine hundred sixty one that you married and symbol to kind of evangelist fraud. Voltron the pair dropped out of discount. Bible college to go on the road as and this is a quote from wikipedia itinerant evangelists. Well because let's face it. A degree from north central bible. University is exactly as valuable as not a degree from north south Decision those early days. They had to threaten people with helen. Take their money door to door. It took out by nineteen six the dual working for pat robertson. A very credible man. Who at seventy three once. Put out a video claiming that he could lay press. Two thousand pounds yes. This has nothing to do jim baker. I only include this detail. Because it is so wonderfully stupidly absurd that everybody needs to know this i to give you a sense of how much that did not happen. Because it didn't have the florida state university leg press record the same year for its football players with six hundred and sixty five pound a regular commercial leg press machine like at a gym. You can't even put two thousand because you can you not a pound. You can add. But somehow a geriatric pat robertson was pumping iron with jesus and he could also probably totally throw a football over those critics. He's lie. Why would you say that. That's a small car. Said he could powerlift his seventy legs to be fair. Moving car with your legs was way. More common when pat robertson was drawn up back in bedrock. Oh i'm sorry thom but before you move on no heath and i will literally explode if we don't get to do a quick lightning round on the that makes sense head in the studio. I installed that while you were sleeping. See so pat robertson go cold scotland a dark land overrun by said gay. Also told of you were the towels in ken. Have okay thank you tom. Thank you sorry needed. I know you had to get out of your system. I get melty. He's melody it looks like he's basis. And i only saw these say peanuts come. It may have been less creepy. If it works. I would say i can only find. It was sort of nestled in videos of other things. I i need you to imagine a puppet show on a low budget tv channel. And then just need you to know in the very bottom of your heart underestimating. How bad and creepy and weird. This puppet show don't care what you can imagine right since christian. Entertainment is the very lowest possible bar to slither over. This show was an inexplicable success. And jim was given his own primetime. Show the seven hundred club. The seven hundred club quickly became the flagship of cbn. For reasons jim and tammy left. Cbs and joined trinity broadcasting network this to not much of a match made in heaven. Eight months later the baker's left tbn when a rift between. Jim and station owner. Paul crouched that's interesting. I had no idea that wasn't the original hosted seven hundred club. I was thought the name of it was like a hat tip to pats age. "Magin if you will the following scenario we live in a time period where electricity does not exist communication as we know it is years away there is no email no telephone no fax nothing like that people sometimes show up our community and on a certain day a man comes to our village and spends the night the next day he goes to the place where people typically gather and as we are gathered there he asks for our attention he says i'm a preacher. I am an evangelist. And i want to know if anyone in this assembly has heard jesus of nazareth. Well none of us raise our hands because we have not heard of the cries and the preacher then begins to tell a story he says there is only one god the god of heaven and earth and i don't know if you've heard about him but he is the only true god him he requires that people obey since all our disobedient to his will and his law at times all are guilty of something called sin and unless people are forgiven of their sins. They're going when they die to enter into a place which is not pleasant. They're going to face punishment a while back. There was someone who came from god. His name was jesus and he paid the price for sin. He died on the cross and the city of jerusalem. He was raised from the dead. He's now in heaven with god. The father and he offers redemption he offers salvation to each one. Who will obey him. And i'm here to tell you about the lord. Someone in our crowd is very skeptical and says the preachers full of nonsense. He's delusional man. Like the fella who came along about a month ago and he's probably just like that fellow trying to make a quick buck off of us. It's probably not going to be too long. Are skeptic says before he asks for some money as people in this group we would then be put into a position of making a choice. Will we believe our friend neighbor. Who's the skeptic who has now charged the preacher with being a huckster or would we believe the preacher who has come to town to tell us this new thing wellbeing for my two people. We would probably say to the preacher. What proof do you have the evangelist see. Someone in our group cannot walk. he's never been able to walk. He limps if he doesn't have his came. Things are almost impossible as far as getting along. His legs are very crippled. So the preacher turns to the sick man and says circle are you. What's your condition had been ill for very long. Are you a citizen in this town to the people here in this assembly. No you and this point maybe the town skeptics picks up again. He says i'll look. He's stalling for time. We've seen that done before. The preacher walks over to the lay man and says in the name of jesus of nazareth the one that i've been speaking about bohol instantly. The lay man is healed and the former sick person demonstrates the healing to the crowd. We see the miracle. I suppose that we would say to that. Preacher tell us more we're impressed. We've never seen anything like that. We want to hear more about jesus of nazareth. When you look at the book of acts what i just told you as a pretty good snapshot of what occurs throughout that book. What the preachers did work. And it worked very very well but even though it worked very well. There were still some obstacles for those first century christians to overcome. Suppose that the preacher in our story had come to our coun and for the first time in our lives. We had heard a jesus of nazareth but that fellow was only this day. Only able to stay for three or four days. Maybe he was able to be with us for an entire week. And let's further say that he baptized two hundred of us after a few days are made the after week for whatever reason maybe he gets sick. Maybe he feels compelled to move on so he leaves after seven days of instruction. We certainly would not be mature christians. We would not be ready to be on her own. And since the new testament had not yet been written we would have no guy to follow. What would we do. How would we be able to live as christians with maybe only a few days or a week's worth of material. Today we have sixty six books from the old testament and the new and it's still the case that people get off track even with god's word even with some of the best study helps that have ever been given to mankind. If this happens in in the present time sixty six bobble books. What would people in the first century have done. Having had only a few days of religious instruction and no new testament scriptures sense says that they had to have help and god knew that they had to have help any gave them help. As we look at the new testament. We find references to spiritual gifts in fact as we look at the first carinthian letter. We find a description of nine different gifts. That's not something that we spend attention on Very often. But i do want to tonight deal with the bulk of my time From the perspective of spiritual guest to talk about what these gifts were. That's information that we need to know about. Maybe putting some marginal notes in your bible will be helpful in the fourth verse. First corinthians twelve. Paul said that there were diversities of gifts. That is god's spiritual gifts were different types. They were Of different varieties but they all came from the same source the holy spirit. Paul begins to list the gifts. And i did not go outside. I corinthians twelve but you can find some other passages which gone talks about some of the things that were given to first century people but here is shall we say A main list of what the spirit offering this as far as special helps for paul centered. to one is given through the spirit of wisdom and he said to another is given the word of knowledge according to the same spirit to another faith in the same spirit and doing other gifts of healings in the one spirit and then in verse ten and do another workings of miracles and to another prophecy and who another discerning spirits and to another divers kinds of tongues and whenever the interpretation of tongues in this list. The first two gifts are listed as the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge. It seems the gift of wisdom was related to doctrinal troop after someone came and preached people especially if they were not familiar with christ in christianity. They needed to know what to believe. God did not allow his people to make up their own doctrine. It was not well. This would be a convenient. Believe where we'd like to hold this particular view. God gave them the information that we now have revealed in the word of god for those who did not have the complete bible The word of wisdom is just like us turn into a particular passage and it was an ability that came through the holy spirit and his gifts. It was an authoritative authoritative source to help answer biblical questions and that. Same kind of thing still exists today. We have facts. We have pieces of information in the new testament. And that's what we need. So we know how to live the christian life so we know how to behave when it comes to morality and we know how to function as far as doctrine. If the bible were only look a fax it would be not only all the kind of hard to follow A preacher he is only giving out facts and he's probably not going to get very far as as far as trying to help. Nurture people in their growth of christianity. Facts are not enough somehow. Facts must be applied to everyday living and this seems to be where the second gift came in. That is the word of knowledge they have the word of wisdom that is what needs to be done and now here is how to put it into practice. I've heard perhaps as you have pat robertson from the seven hundred club claim that he is receiving a word of knowledge and his allegation is and. I'm not sure exactly how he thinks it works but against god is somehow feeding him information about a sick person. I'm getting a word of knowledge here and he begins to describe a medical problem. Well that's hardly a medical I'm sorry that's hardly a miracle from the holy spirit. We can do the same thing. I can just as easily say tonight. Someone somewhere has a heart condition right now. And i received no help from the holy spirit at all but that is an allegation which just because of the sheer probability of it is going to be true to every time robertson also claims that someone is being healed at that particular time and that is specifically related to his knowledge. Now that's off subject for tonight. Maybe we will be able to deal with that at some point but suffice it to say that he's made up his own definition for this particular gift and that's not what to give describes. It was information related to how the word of god could be applied to specific situations as we look at these christians. We find that. Sometimes they received a third and this is described as the gift of faith is i think about a lot of mama. Classes that have been taught over the years. A lot of times people have turned this gift and they've been confused they have said well. How do you explain. This is not faith requirement of all does not the model say he was eleven verse six that without faith we cannot please god if.

"Of the climate is going to get more and more extreme. And that's what we're living with and that's what's going to continue because it's how do you get a seesaw. That's going crazy to come. Come back to normal. Takes a lot of time and effort so remember last year during like massive lockdown like early on in summer and then when they would say like some of the changes they were seeing the climate because of the way that society stopped for a minute. That's so interesting. And then you know here we are back in it and it felt like it took this you know global pandemic for people to stop and we saw effects in our climate and it almost makes me think. Is it possible to see that without that. You know what i mean like it. Now that we're on this point of no return. Is it possible to change things without this massive shutdown. I know there's things that you can change with oil and gas all the things. But yeah what. I worry about his balance The the world has a way of balancing itself out and usually if the world does it. It does it without warning and it does unmercifully. So i'm like yo. If if if mother earth has to say you know what is too hot guys. I got to do something to cool off. You know that's gonna leave us at a huge disadvantage you know. And that's just how the world works. So is i was on my mom. My mom used to say. Fix yourself before fix you was. She said that that means that we go. We we're in we're in In a bad place in. And i feel like that's kind of where we're at with earth well and you know it's become such a unnecessarily partisan issue where you know. I i think the worst thing to happen in the climate change. Pr thing was it happened to be. You know al gore was one of the early. Yeah i kinda got labeled b. Because obviously he was a politician. You know it was automatically so say with political party but it wasn't always like this. I mean there's a there's a clip from years ago of al gore when he was a senator. This is long before do as you know the vice president under bill clinton you know he was involved in these Basically taking core samples from glacier so understand the atmospheric conditions of different sort of ages of history. And you know you can watch this clip. Because he's on the seven hundred club with pat robertson talking and this is you know twenty years ago before the at that point. This issue is just an interesting science. Issue that humanity should be aware of but it became more descent and when things become partisan weird lines drawn in the sand when they have nothing to do with partisanship or really ideology or policy. This was something that was appropriated. In sort of this culture war unnecessarily in it's really damaged the way that people objectively think about it and you know partisanship has a tendency to poison things but then also there this injection of just like awful theology at one point to where it's like i can't. I'm not going to be arrogant enough to believe that humanity can change something so that god designed like atmosphere. It's like that is preposterous. That goes against one of the early principles of scripture which is we are stewards of creation. And we absolutely have the power to destroy it. God endowed with it. When he said we you know we we have. We're we're stewart's like i can go in and kill all the grass in my art and it's not me saying i'm area enough to be bigger than god. No he put his said. You guys are in charging. We're you know if we're actively destroyed it. You know we have to come to some sort of you know realization that this this transcends partisanship this. This is a potential humanitarian catastrophe. That we you know. There's no harm in reaching across the aisle or reaching across the theological spectrum. It's all come together and try to find a solution for here. You know what just happened. We not only in the segment have solved. Racism we've solved medical debt with jesse's advocation. We just solve climate change and create a path.

He joined the panicky chorus last week and he called critical race theory quote a monstrous evil. Okay do you think has a things. Christians are mad about. But i don't understand at all mad libs at the ready because this smelt like a mad limps very so. That's almost everything he does. Yeah i think. That's just the format of his show. You just described so just in case anyone missed it. Here's a tiny bit more detail on critical race theory. It's an academic framework. That very correctly includes our long history of systemic racism as an important piece of context for examining our political institutions and our entire socioeconomic structure. One might say it's a growing competitor in the marketplace of ideas. But the fucking bad guys called time out on that whole thing up their their argument for this particular moments they call timeout and as part of their campaign to stifle free speech with big government. That's what they're doing now as part of that campaign twitchy conservative white. America is turning critical race theory into this insane caricature of all their deepest fears like there were huffing with scarecrow. And here's what pat robertson thinks critical race theory is and you know what we're going to need to take this pieces. It's yakking rough. And he starts by saying quote critical race theory says that people of color have been oppressed by the white.

But I'm always concerned when I hear people describe what might be their own personal opinion to what God wants. I mean, Yeah, I heard him say this. I said well from your mouth to God's ear, I guess because that's actually what I think happened. In this particular case. It's uh, I want to get not making fun of Pat Robertson. I've met the man once years ago, back when he was running for president in 88. Seem like a decent enough guy. But I always get concerned. When I hear people say that God told him that this is what's going to happen. And then when it doesn't it doesn't happen. You have to ask yourself this question. Who were they really talking to? Where they talking to themselves? Where they wishfully thinking and applying God's name to it. Have a feeling one day God's going to say we'll hear all the things people said that I was for and against and said and didn't say, I don't know. I've never said any of it. Well, and I guess the good part of that is maybe we won't have to deal with the civil unrest like we've never seen before. Is Mr Robertson said would happen. Maybe that won't happen. Laundry. There's been so much more of it to do lately, and there's never.
