It's going Thompson a near list thing to something to wrestle with Bruce pitcher and Bruce here in a good mood today, but he has a going, well, hey, hey, Conrad Thompson in spe-, Bruce Richard, got her bicycle Manam happy. I'm looking forward to Bruce. Well, this is what's great. Our last live show that we did in Nashville which was sold out Calhoun only has a few tickets left, so by guys get on over there and get them. But you came from your bachelor party last time this, and now I'm coming from honeymoon coming from your honeymoon. Yeah, it's this. This podcast has taken over my life. I don't know how to say that, but but I'm just saying that your new white, then it was your wife to be has got to be just like what the hell you're leave. You're leaving this to go to that to get to this to go there. And then you're here. Yep. And we're excited to be here because today we're covering judgment day, nineteen ninety eight. But before we knew what was your feedback last week on the Ricky? She episode June bug, man, the royalty of the Samoan family, and you know, we, we gotta talk a lot about the Samoans and what they truly mean to the wrestling industry and a lot of people. I think they didn't realize just how intricate and how far back that Samoan lineage goes and everybody related to everybody along the way and kind of office Sika sitting. Atop of that dynasty, if you will. Well, we learned way back them with the whole hitting motherfucker where the car, why did we do the show last week we did it for who. JIMBO know who what? Oh, what am I? What am I missing here? For the road runner. These are layups. This is going to be a long day. Here it is because like I'm yeah, I'm happy. I'm happy Bruce today. Good. Fuck you. Don't even remember last week. Let's talk about it. Judgment date. Nineteen ninety eight. But before we do let me tell you Bruce. Maybe you'd feel even a little better today. If you could move your total testosterone with ageless male max, I'm telling you you're going to get a greater increase in both muscle size and twice the reduction in body, fat percentage exercise alone, and an amazing sixty four percent increase in your nitric oxide which is handy in the gym and in the bedroom. Take your manhood to the max and try your first thirty day bottle free. Just pay shipping and handling. You're not getting ten days getting fifteen days. You had a full thirty day supply for free. All you gotta do is text the word slam. That's s. l. a. m. to seventy nine seventy nine seventy nine. That's slam s. l. AM to seventy nine seventy nine seventy. Nine right now, of course, message and data rates may apply October eighteenth rose. Horizon. Chicago, Illinois. It did a point eight, nine Bahrae back in nineteen ninety eight for an estimated four million bucks for a company. Gross. Lots of the guy's really liked the Rosemont horizon. I had the great pleasure of Singaper either myself. And the first thing I noticed is something that I don't quote Steve Austin, talk about a lot, the wooden ceiling and how that really effects the acoustics. Why? So many of the guys really liked the Rosemont. Is it just the the sound from the crowd? Well, it's supposed to see enthusiasm of the crowd and the way that the building is built. It feels like the audience is right on top of you. So when you're in the ring and you're in the middle of the horizon, man, it's it's will. Now it's what is AllState arena now, but you feel like everybody is not a bad seat in the house. Everybody's in the ring with you, and that's how you feel when you're there. So it's an energy and it's a. It's just feeling man in the is one of the best anywhere in the countryman yet your New York, Philly, and your Texas audiences. But man's Chicago is second to none. Well, no doubt about it. We had a lot of fun there for star cast and they had a ton of fun at judgment day. And this was the very first time judgment day was used as the name of a pay per view. It was picking names for pay per view shows back then, you know, it was a lot of it was coming from creative services and they would send out kind of like questionnaires to certain people in the audience in the audience in the office, whether it be Howard ankle people in town relations. But a lot of people in creative over TV saying, send us in names for pay per view things and names. So a lot of names would come in and different things would come in bins would kind of go through them and ultimately was Vince McMahon that would choose what the theme of that pay per view is going to be and what the name was gonna be. And hence, we got our first judgment day because he felt it was kind of with where they were going with Austin and the champion. Ship and Mr McMahon that fit the the name fit and it made a theme. Here's a little piece of trivia for you as we come into this pay per view. It's the first time that the WWF has had a pay per view without the world champion on and ten years. As a reminder would discover that breakdown pay per view which is available now in the archives. And at the end of the show, there's some confusion about who the champion is when both undertaker and Kane pen the venturing paean, Steve Austin at the exact same time. So the bell is vacant and we're gonna have a turnament for this thing at the next pay per view, which will be survivor series. But of course, we're getting head of ourselves a little bit business is still a booming. We do this all the time, but year-over-year month over month. We're still climbing. Average attendance is up eighty one percent from six thousand fans up to eleven thousand fans. Gates are a hundred and twenty one percent higher going from ninety nine. Thousand back in October of ninety seven to two hundred nineteen thousand here. That's a hundred in twenty one percent the at twenty one percent. Well, it is a massive increase. You go from ninety nine grand up to two hundred nineteen grand shows are selling out left and right. Even ratings or higher your average cable rating back in the day in October of ninety seven was a two point. Oh, we're up forty five percent here. One of the things I wanted to mention though, and we've talked a lot about this in our Vader episode is that Vader's having some real issues with the company. At this point, he's trying to finish up at the end of the month and he's ready to go somewhere else. But you guys won't let him go to WCW. This is probably a mutual parting of the ways because we've examined in long form in our archives that this was just a miss. It felt like we never got out of neutral and into drive with Vader there. Weight issues, there were injury issues. There were attitude issues, whatever it was. Was it just didn't work out. He remember there being a condition, hey, yeah, we'll let you go. You just can't go to WCW. Sure. I mean, we were in competition with WCW. They were our media competitors where we did most of our business in the United States. So bins didn't want him going there regardless. I don't think WCW was interested in him at that time. But at the same time we didn't want to leave that option open to them and or to baiter in also have to be careful a lot of times exactly what you wish for what you say. When you you say, hey events really want my release. I wanted to want to do that. I don't wanna go to WCW. I just wanna go back to Japan and in have that. Okay, then we'll give you a release based on the condition that you just said and will make it to where you can go to Japan if you want to go to Japan, but we will make it a provision. You can't go to WCW. That's kind of how it happened is last mass for you guys wound up being MSG on October twenty. Fifth, in a three way with mankind. Ken shamrock course Vader taps out Ken shamrock ankle lock there. Any bounces around a little bit between all Japan, pro wrestling and pro wrestling Noah from ninety eight to two as a couple of brief appearances for TNA and then made sporadic appearances in five and twelve. And then even again in sixteen for the WWE we've covered Vader as one of our, it probably is our first when you look back at our history of our show at mater episode and maybe that pill Memphis. Oh, those are really the first two were. We just went crazy details, right? Yeah, we did. And we talked about coffee in his good eye and coconut on top of his ear or something that so, yeah, it was one of our very first deep dives that we went in. If you haven't already check that upset out in the archives, but it. It is sort of a weird ending to Vader in America because he was such a top guy, just a handful years prior to this w w the WB Ephron doesn't go as planned and then he's just sort of off the scene. That's a little sad. I don't know. But it is sort of interesting because Meltzer would freestyle that maybe new Japan is going to be where he wants up. But new Japan has a working relationship with Bischoff WCW, of course that didn't happen round up doing something with all Japan and Noah. Was there ever any consideration or conversation once Vader left of, hey, went, we bring fighter back that anybody wanna try it again, not at that time? No, I think that it was a time that there was a lot of younger talent on the horizon. Just new faces. The baiter experiment just didn't work. So the water in the whole lot of people saying now bring Leon back at that time. It was, let's go with new. Let's go with some of this different talent that hasn't had the exposure yet while he's out and another big man is in Melford report. The Ray Traylor had signed and was going to debut as the big boss man. Once again, probably as a heel enforcer for Vince McMahon is coming back here just thirty six years old and said to be down to just two hundred ninety pounds. I say just because when he was here before he was wrestling between three forty, three ninety, how excited you guys to have Ray Traylor back? Well, just because I'm a big fan of his unlikely personally, I was happy shit to have boss man back plus with the idea of updating the gimmick and doing a just a nineteen nineties version of the big boss man gimmick and putting him in the riot gear, giving them a little bit of a different look, a little bit different edge. I was excited about and I've always been a big fan of his and happy to have him back because he could work. He was a working big man in everybody liked right. As luck would have it. We've got a full episode on Ray Traylor the big boss man in the archives as well. So check that out. I want to mention here that Jim cornet had become the host of Sunday night heat with Shane McMahon around this time. What led to that pairing? It is sort of timely that we're talking about this too because this weekend cornet is going to be back on commentary this time with Tony Shirvani for the end of uet seventy three union. Well, you know. I would say that that pairing of the NWEA and corny is just about right, and we'll leave it at that. But bents. What does that mean? I think that they're they're right for each other. I think that corny loves that that style wrestling loves the NWEA. And I think that corny probably would like to have the NWEA back in a prominent way. Think that pairing great. You know, we don't have to make so many pairs them. We don't ever talk about current wrestling here on the show, but Cody Rhodes as the end of world champion before it or against it. I think he's the best NWEA champion that they probably had since the end w was the NWEA. Well, that's a lot process, but I think I get what you mean you would prefer him over a attempts to warm or Steve Carino or a dance in or Chris Candido or any of those champion since it sorta, I dunno wasn't would okay. Yeah, yes, I would. All right. I would. You know what I mean? If I had a company right now make Cody the champion on my company. So you're big fan of Cody of Cody Rhodes too. So I, I look at him and I look at the what I see in Cody Rhodes is not just now, but the future. So we're talking about now talking about the future. I think that he's a hell of a talent and will do great for whoever they always working for. Did you say promo after the new Japan show and California few weeks ago where he talked about dust as kids and everybody calling themselves, these kids? No, I did not a sailing he'll walk in. So chat me up here. Jim cornet. Why is he the co host here on heat with Shane McMahon wanted it makes sense. And why was Vincent favor of this? I don't know that it really made sense. It was an attempt to utilize Jimmy and be able to put Jim in a position to do color commentary and do Jim does best. And that's kind of call wrestling until stories. The idea of putting Shane in there was youth mental on younger demographic. He wanted to younger. Person in that spot. It won't give Shane a try and was way to get Shane on camera, get him out in front of the people kinda let everybody know, hey, there's another McMahon because other than refereeing, Shane really hadn't done anything. And I don't think we ever called attention that was Shane McMahon when he was referee. So it was just way to get get him out there and get them in the mix own assorted. Get off the beaten path here for a minute because Anne Marie search us all in mid October that you guys manage to sell out in one particular week in the middle of October nineteen. Ninety eight. You ran five house shows four of those five in that particular week where one hundred percent sold out total utilization of the building. How show business is on fire. That is not the case. Now in two thousand eighteen with how show business. Now, of course, the WB stock has never been higher on. There's lots of people in line who pointed declining ratings, and so it's a dying. Product, but the the stock is at an all that silliness. But I do wanna mention that this is still a key Lon item for you guys in nineteen ninety eight. The house show business, the lava, that revenue was still a big part of the business. What is the key? What was the secret to booking strong house show card to getting the local promotion out there? How are you guys so successful in selling? How shows out then, and are there any lessons that were learned there that could be applied today or is it just a totally different business? Now, personal is totally different business. However, what was key at that time was promoting the same issues angles that were taking place on television in updating it as we went along, if things changed in the TV storyline, things change in the house show storyline in. We made at app patients, and we changed from week to week the local cards. So you were all you were watching television shit to get up, dated on what was going. Take place in your local event, and you felt that what happened in your local event was keyed. What was going to happen next week on TV if you will. Plus, again, man, it takes time and its reputation. All of all of our guys were showing up to work, which in comparison, our competitor WCW for how shows you didn't get the big stars. Right? You didn't get hulk HOGAN, Kevin, Nash, and Scott hall, and all those guys in the house shows in even if they were advertised, chances them showing up sometimes were slim to none with ours guy showed up. We have our top guys, advertise top guys showed up and they delivered in the ring. So when you would come back and in three and six month intervals, people knew they were going to get what was advertised. Do you remember having any of your talent with the WWF sorta reference? The fact that the WWE Gaza could lay out a house shows and try to use that as well. Hey, they don't have to do it over there. What's the big deal if I miss this one week or was it just two totally different mentality? And if so, how did you instill that mentality in the gas paid him? Was that simple? If you missed the show, you didn't get paid, and if you didn't come to show, we didn't have no shows. We didn't have guys for no reason not show up just because they didn't want to guys made the shows and they performed when they were there. Now, the difference is they can say, okay, we'll so-and-so's at WCW. They don't have to go to house shows and they're making axe when you compare what they were making to what our guys are making. At this time in the game, when business was up guys wanted to work, they were making more money. So they wanted to be on the house shoes. They wanted. To be book. They wanted to be out there and grab every opportunity that there was Dr more money. Did you guys have some sort of bonus for the top guys if there was a sellout. The guy paid on the houses. So I mean, the more people, the more money that that was their bonus. It was there was more money to go around and you're on top. You're gonna make more money wrestling fan. You like comics or go support the new rowdy. Roddy piper, kill the of injure on indigo. It's a new comic. Look, John varmint, Eric Hotson, and it's written by Dominic radio of mess. Check it out right now support our friend, Eric, and checkout kilted avenger dot com. What's the old school or at the time, the nineteen ninety eight methodology for figuring how show payments. Wow. At that time I wanna say probably do thirty three percent run everybody three that and bef- before you sort of set it up. I want to explain that for a long time in wrestling would hear stories about guys who would take a peek through the curtain and just sort of get a an idea for how many people were there. And then there was lots of speculation with old timers because they would say, Aw, tonight's payoff should be this because it's a full house and there's this many people there GAAS really took pride and being able to eyeball the crowd and guess how many people were there, what the gate was good to be and then sort of guests how the promoter was going to screw around. Tell us the thirty three percent methodology. Well, what you do is you take your your gross house, you subtract your taxes from that. That gives you your net from that net. You take thirty three percent of the net in that is then distributed to the talent in usually the top guys make more those bents would feel. Contributed more to selling those tickets who he fell, you know, people were paying to see, and then it would. Be trickled down everyone else. So it was for example, if you had a ultra, she's one hundred thousand dollar house, but our houses at this time were more obviously a lot more than that. But for a hundred thousand you've got thirty three thousand pay your talent with. I got you. So chat me up. You said, you know if Vince thought, blah, blah, blah, but Vince isn't doing the payoffs here who would have been do who would have been calculating how show payoffs here ninety eight that have been JR well, JR will have first pass at it, but vents proved all the payoffs, okay. Every single every house show every pay per view. Everything that he did Vince finalized and would make changes. I think that's made changes just to. Let JR no. You know what I mean? So give me an example. You don't have to name guys, but let's say JR had a God down for two thousand dollars. If I mean, how would that process look? He submits a report by Email or maybe even back then by regular memo inside the office and say, hey boss, here's our house show report from the weekend, and here's the payoffs we're going to do, and then he just goes through and then like in the margin somewhere rights, you know, scratches a line through a number and Reith another number hands it back to JR for payroll, first of all, back in nineteen ninety eight. I think we were still doing it with pay off sheets which just had a had the card had everybody's name on it and then you had a spot for their pay. He had the, he had the gross yet the net. And then you had the percentage, the talent percentage. Jarrell go through and write down what he thought they should make next to their name. Vince would go through and Mark Mark through it right down. Another amount thought someone made too much extra that write down what he thought Vinci's amount is then what would be entered into the computer and probably JR's assistant, I think is one that would enter all that into the accounting system and. Bada Bing, Bada, boom. And I notice that the guys would get of how much money they made is when it showed up in their mailbox, right? There's no sorta heads up other than that, it just there's a check in go cash. The sum bitch exactly. So that's when you figured out how much you made for that night. Couple of weeks later, how often would you say guys would complain not just to the other boys but to the office about a payoff? How business was good at this time. So there wasn't a whole lot of complaining, but most times of you wouldn't checks would go out somebody got it. They would usually call JR whoever and voice their displeasure of rarely did you ever get somebody that would call you and say, damn thank you for the great pay on the other day. Right, never got that. But if you know they thought they should've got one hundred dollars more for one night by God. You're to get that phone call. But we've also heard that there would be guys who would be particularly vocal about creative. Was there anybody who was just maybe earned a reputation as being a complainer? They were always boo, faced about their payoffs. Nothing was ever to their satisfy action. Shoe boy. I think if you go back in history, you know, Roddy could get upset Roddy around pay per view. Pay off times. You had your rotties in your halts that always felt that they deserve more right. Those were notorious. Randy savage used to Joe. You can enter few wars zeroes what he's going to be pissed off there. In. But as far as anybody else you'll Kevin Nash, but during the time that Kevin was on top businesses, horrible. So in, I'm not putting fingers at Kevin. I'm just saying that was a happenstance that that he was unhappy with his pay because it wasn't good because business wasn't good. So he would grumble and grump. But again, people during this time and business was good. Everybody pretty much we're happy in. It came from time where a lot of the guys on the roster had been there when business was bad. Right? So they're just, they're happy that the checks or so much better now? Yeah, it's like damn, man. I'm I'm able to buy a house now, so let's keep doing what we're doing. I'm not going to rock the boat. So in your opinion, you know, we'll talk about the current product much if you had sort of Tross something different to boost how show business. Now in twenty eight teen got any ideas. Make everything more unpredictable. I think that some of the program we right now and I also understand it because of what they're doing with sponsors in their long term, you know, their long-term overall, the big arc, the big story to get to wrestlemainia to get all of these international specials that they have committed to is you've got to keep it fairly general in your your booking, your big shows. There's not nearly as much character development today. In my opinion, as there was in the past, there's not nearly the attention to story as there had been in the past. There's a lot of. I wanna win this match. I want to win this title which is lot of old school booking which, frankly, I subscribe to for a long time, but I do think it's just better. I think it's more enjoyable for the viewer when you can't predict what the hell is going to happen and you, you keep your audience guessing so they have to tune in and they have to see what's going on. And if I go to my show locally, then by God, I'm gonna get something special. I don't know that there's that that promise anymore. Now it's icecapades right. And Disney on ice, I wanna go, I wanna go see the WW superstars, which is a great place to be too. I'm not, you know, really complaining about that because I don't just have to rely on the house show money anymore. Revenue everywhere. Let's talk a little bit about Steve Austin and his merch here in nineteen ninety eight milta- would report. It's been said that Austin sells more t shirts than any entertainer or sports figure in the world. Any shares a story that he went to a local amusement park and all the teenage boys were wearing Austin shirts, followed by Jordan jerseys. Steve Young Z's, Jerry Rice jerseys or local martial arts star Conly shirts. So this is a movement where all the sudden Steve Austin and WWF shirts are cooler to wear than some of the more standard and typical sports jerseys amongst that age group, teenagers and whatnot. If you had to ballpark it, how much money do you think Steve Austin may just on t shirts alone in nineteen ninety eight a lot. More than ten million. Yeah, yeah. I mean, everybody I've talked to sort of agrees that that was really the first year where it got nuts just on t shirts along it was crazy, and. Not just he shirts, but anything that you could slap an Austin? Three sixteen on right? It was called, I have so the that whole revolution, the whole Austin movement was. Print money, JR's board print money. I've been no kill goose. So it was good time, white Keller thought that this may have been a concern of it for Vince McMahon. He writes, there is some conjecture in the industry. Vincent man is going to have to spread the WB be titled around several different wrestlers to prevent Steve Austin from becoming powerful as whole Cogan was during the late eighties, and I know you're gonna laugh that off. But before you do, I do think the WWE has been very careful to market themselves and their shows as WWE. So it's less about the particular talent. And you know, you don't know what the main of interesting is. You just know it's wrestlemainia and people are going to see wrestlemainia. It's not necessarily we're going to see stone cold wrestlemainia anymore. Now it's just wrestlemainia. Is that fair to say. I would say that that's always been fair to say. And I think that events had his way invents is from nineteen eighty three till now. Vince is always been about marketing the WWF named the WWE name, whereas not wrestling the world, wrestling federation's world wrestling entertainment. It's WWE and for that to be the brand now to say, all of that some cold, Steve Austin, when he's hot man, you're gonna push everything that you possibly can around him with him. E- use that as much as you can to build that WWE brand. I don't think that vents was was looking at well, I'm not gonna. Let him get too big bull. Shit, Vince wants him is big as possibly can be, and then he's gonna make even bigger than that. So yeah, events is not. That's. That's just stupid business to think that if you've got someone taught, I don't wanna get too hot because I don't want to get too big for his britches. That's just not good business. I mean, you want you wanna make them big. You wanna make you wanna make them as big as you can to then make your brand even bigger, but still wanna be held hostage. You don't how ever you want to use their celebrity in star power to get as far as you possibly can. He's not going to be held hostage by anybody. When Steve took his ball, went home is like, okay, bye. Go on. We'll see you. In hurt, didn't like it. But at the same time he looked at it the the brand will always be bigger than the talent, but the same time you got a hot talent push him to the moon. Well, speaking of moons man on the moon was a hot movie at the time, and everybody was concerned about what opportunities there may be for Jim Carey to participate in WBF television. I think a lot of people assumed, hey, given, you know, the he is doing this full stick where he is becoming Andy Kaufman and not breaking character. Will he pop up on WBZ TV and Meltzer says, virtually no chance of that. Did you guys ever discuss it? We discuss it originally in as far as having any involvement in the movie, and once it wasn't really reciprocal. Okay, I'll do your your movie thing. We'll do this. We talked about it, but the the movie folks or. Aren't interested in having anything to do with us, and Jim Carey wasn't interested in it. So that's probably the main reason that there, if you notice didn't get a whole lot of play for the movie on the WWF network. That was sort of interesting to me. My research, I learned that Jim Carey was not a wrestling fan according to Jerry Lawler and Lawler says that both Kevin Don advancement ran wanted him to address Jim Carey situation on raw because it made such big news, but the producers of the movies didn't even want him to talk about it. So it was a an interesting fuck you've in or at least that's the way it reads to me. Well, yeah, it wasn't fuck you then because I believe that the movie would have done a lot better if we could have had some story line and they had done work with us not to promote the movie. It was a natural here. You got your color commentary duo. Your commentary duo, Jim Ross, and Jerry Lawler who are in the movie in a vital role in the movie. But yet you don't want to take them in the real life role. Now were millions of people watch them every week and promote your movie. Okay, fine. Fuck you. Next. Something else I saw my research here that I found was sort of fall and I'm just flipping through old. You know raw results here and by the way they're drawing huge money like east Lansing, Michigan draws ninety eight hundred fans for a near two hundred thousand dollar gate, but there's a show here where the head bangers challenged the Saint clown posse and they just destroy them and bring this up because I don't even know that you saw this the juicy where shaggy two of the insane clown posse tried to give Fred Durst the lead singer from limp biscuit a drop kick on stage and missed. You know what? Well, I missed that. It was a couple. He's a couple of weeks ago. I'm gonna say happened like the weekend of October. Sixth. I guess there was a concert and shaggy Tudo does a run in and is going to drop kick Fred Durst from behind where he doesn't see coming, but he falls short, totally MRs security card some off, and then they sang the non inau song as the security escort at him off. And I was like, this is fucking wrestling right here. Everything about this because lint biscuit had done some stuff with you guys. Insane clown posse of course, actually had matches with you guys, and then they did the God damned on an awesome. I'm like, where is Vincent man when you need him library? Yeah. A couple of weeks ago you have see, we talked about that last week, everything it, it's it's from wrestling deputy, w everybody wants to be in on the act. We should also mention that this is the October fifth edition of raw where McMahon is in the hospital, and he starts to freak out when the nurse says he has a big visitor these freaking because he thinks it's Austin, but it's actually mankind. And this is where has a woman dressed as a clown make a dog out of a balloon. It's where we, I, I'd like to correct you there. Okay, that that was just that was urkel clown. She was not a woman. Sorry, she she, she actually corrected us on this man. She's urkel. She wanted to be addressed as oracle. She was cloud, so don't be her woman to call her anything else by some some name that two people that created her have given her birth. She was oracle cloud. All right. Now. This is also where Steve regal drank orange juice as a segment on the show. He squeezed it himself. You know why? Because he's. He's amounts. Men squeeze her own Jews. Well, you know this really wish blue shoes sponsor because I've got a fucking awesome transition right now. I just have to talk this week hopefully. This is also the episode where Austin dressed up as the doctor beats up vents in the hospital room. Maybe the most famous skit of the year to me is when he hits him in the head with a fucking bedpan, shoot, mid pant. Tell me about this bedpan. Shy. How great is this? It was wonderful in a raise this huge, not on Vincent's head, which was probably the funniest part of it. But yeah, that was a Vincent GAM. Vince Russo creation that they went out and did. But so much of that was Mick Foley in his improv and in the whole Mr. Sacco that he announce no came up with. It's just a goof that they did did it on camera. I love it. And you know, now mitt can't go anywhere without fucking socks. So that's some good shit article. Clown and the balloon animals. But when Steve grab the bedpans, Steve, just grab shit that was near him and hit hit the bedpan and about killed him. How am ising is that by the way, but it's just all a fucking happy accident man. No one in a million years would have thought. And frankly, if we had been told, I probably to the man would have shit all over it. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. He he's gonna put a sock and he's gonna call Mr. SoKo you know, I, I would have shit on it. I was this is the stupidest shit ever seen in my life and it was in great old. Same time the next week on raw. We get an, I'm sure we're gonna talk about this sometime in opens with the outlaws defending the tag titles going to a no contest with ELO day. Two thousand and draws is out in the full LSD outfit with animal hawks. Come out, sit at ringside and he's going to say having problems with painkillers, and he's just trying to get back in shape. And at this point as an alternate on the team was cool with all this. He was cool all this. And you know what the crazy thing about during this time was is draws to me was the only one that looked like a road warrior. He at least add the haircut, and the weird ship, both the animal and hawk at grown their hair out and need one of the Mohawks anymore. But yeah, yeah. Hawk was fine with it. You guys ran a promo on this episode to where you show videos of gold us beating up both razor Ramon and Roddy piper. Why were those the perfect guys to show gold us beating up because they were too big names. He whip this shit out of some much so they had to go down south to another promotion. They couldn't take it anymore in the WWE because gulled us was Aaron, he'd whip their ass. This is also the episode where Mr. Sokha was used with the claw for the very first time in a match when he beats Mark injury. And then we see Austin show up driving a cement truck into the building. We know what's going to happen here, and I was really amazed when you and I visited the WB warehouse earlier this year that the core vet that Mr McMahon owned here on this off Tober twelve episode where they poured cement until the windows exploded. They still have the fucking car. Yeah. For the longest time, it sat out in the parking lot at the television studio. Just just out in the open. With all the cement and shit in it. And now they have it in the studio. I remember when we did that we shot it want to say, we shot in Long Island, New York, but I remember looking at it and they brought the cement truck in the to fill up the deal and all shit. And I'm thinking, well, the visual is you want all of that shit to kinda fill up and explode, but we couldn't put the top down on the. Corvette because then how do you get the cement in? So you gotta leave it open and. We're watching it as a while which is roll the windows up. Why would you have windows rolled up in a convertible. To keep the cement until the windows bop, but I really didn't. I didn't know what I was saying, frankly, at the time. And I thought when I got hit with that question, you know, you're right. I mean, that's kind of stupid, but. It made sense. I forget who the who actually did that stunt. But I said, yeah, if you roll the windows up, it'll it'll create that explosion that you want. And so then I was vindicated when it actually worked perfectly on TV. Some good shit. It is good. I guess what I wanted to point out here is these are back to back shows so like the week prior Mr. SoKo bedpan to the head a week later, McMahon's corvette filled with concrete. I don't think we're gonna be talking about rawal back toback hot angles that people still remember for decades. I mean, you guys are really hitting your striker able here and then the problem becomes, what do you do after that? Vinci's Vinci's answered that God damn will come up with something in. I was always of the cautious. You know, lot more cautious thing. Man, can't. We do this three weeks later in in build to it, and that was during that, you know, it was a lot of answers, some bro, bro. We gotta do more. Just kept thinking more is going to get to the point of enough. So I wanna was that this show on October twelfth. We talked about the fifth was an east Lansing. Michigan here were in Nassau, Coliseum, ten thousand six hundred thirty. Two fans pay two hundred and thirty eight grand and the ratings this week. Mark one down for all you guys get the win. You do a four point eight one compared to nitro four point seven the week. Prior to that, you guys were really neck and neck. You did a four point five four nine nitro did a four point five four six. So you just barely edging out, but this is the go home show for while we're here. Let's get to it judgment day. It's old out about a week in advance. There's eighteen thousand one hundred fifty three fans in the building sixteen thousand four hundred fifty. Eight of those paid an incredible three hundred fifty seven thousand at the gate. And then as if that wasn't enough, another hundred forty five thousand and merchandise. Lot Austin ship sold right there. My friend. Little bit man. That would end it was during the time to. Here's great thing about it. You'd sell out of Austin merchandise, which by the by the way became do not ever sell out of Martin. This one here about, oh my God, we sold out of all of merchandise. Why didn't you send more. That wasn't a good thing. People thought that was this great thing to sell out of merchandise in his boss. I remember sitting in a meeting one time going, I you guys are giving these reports like you're happy about it. Like, oh my God, we so loud of all this shit. All I wanna know who the fuck is determining how much to send in firearm. In send more because we should always be bringing something back. We haven't gotten everything we've got. You know that we need to get out of this audience and the they're, they're, they want it. They, they're, you're not gonna get him hotter than this moment. By some shit. Yeah, it's a missed opportunity, you know. So let's talk about the show before we do though Sunday night heat, we saw Steve Blackman pin Brancheau in two minutes and fifty eight seconds after a front kick as a reminder on the prior month. Bradshaw got a big win on pay per view. Over Vader a month. Later Blackman gets a win over him and under three minutes on heat, and you got sort of giving up on the Bradshaw experiment already. By this point, he just wasn't getting over the way you wanted. Well, a lot of the Bradshaw stuff, early stuff man was a lot of hit and miss a lot of starting stops. I think that when John tried to portray something that he wasn't, it didn't come off. Good. I don't think people bought it the the Blackjacks was will something that you know it was an old gimmick that we tried to recreate. It wasn't something that was good berry. John were good team, but Russo also didn't. He felt that anybody with Texas, Texas accent or southern accent was stupid right. Anybody that had come from New York didn't have a brain, and he wasn't in favor of pushing someone with Texas accent, like John life field. You know something Conrad. I m a three time. That's right. Three time black belt hall of Famer. And you know, the guy that taught me everything that I know about groti the one and only William Alexander gray, the head of the American society of karate. He's always had, well, let's just, let's just say, man's always kind of had wilt any balding hair, and I was trying to talk to him the other day if only he had done something about it, like, you know, way back win, then he would be in the predicament of basically practically ball right now in the thing about it is is when you start to notice your hair loss, man, I, it's, it's really too late and stalking too good friend of mine for need to list the man. And he was telling me thanks to science. Old MRs shouli funeral with four Hume's dot com. You see, it's one stop loss. That's right. Skin-care sexual wellness for man, they've got it all live in hymns. Going to connect you with real doctors. Think doctors with medical rates solutions to treat e. d. red tailed dysfunction. In case you didn't know what that he d stood for in their very will generic goo quivalent, Stu name, brand prescriptions. We're not talking snake oil up on pews, don't guess station killer supplements. No. Oh, this is the real deal. There ain't no weak and room. No awkward. Doctor visits in person to answer questions Hinch with a Ducker for 'confidential review. Then. Right there on your doorstep products are ship directly to your door, a home. You think it Vic work for a Willie Alexander because he's still has some hair and it's still might help in in in that regard who. Freak out for us that come is the only place to go if you order. Also on heat giant Silva, kurban and Golda who Russo loved, but Bradshaw. He's an idiot. They be Los Burri quiz in two minutes and thirty one seconds. Unbelievable here the insane clown posse's out with the oddities of course, chat me up. I mean, come on, I see pe- lows. Parikh was the oddities. Yeah, it was a dark time in some respect. During all of this. Yeah, you know again, what, what, what do you say? Man, we try some different things. Then it was a segment of the audience. Man. There was at Howard Stern audience that love the horse shit. That's what it was to me. It was horse shit. Godfather pants for Ruch in just under two minutes. And then before the next match Michael interviews, Paul bear. Less I'm out though aren't okay. Godfather pin fruit with a kick to the chest and black men heat Bradshaw with the kick to the jazz a helluva finish back in in that timeframe. These kicks the Jess. Well, guys are bad asses. I mean, I know I think about Steve Blackman and I think man educated feet as an announcer, my say, and then I think about godfather and I think we'll never mind. So before the next match, Michael Cole interviews pallbearer and asked him why there and bear says he's just there to hang out with the boys and eat some food. And throughout the show, the show Paul mayor piling junk-food onto his plate and the announcers are skeptical that he's only there for the food. This is a fucking room. Caterina in Chicago needs. Some of those per banned, t brothers, the hot dogs. Extre chilly. Shop them, you know, I'm. The only had some Italian beef. Fucking love that that knee. I did Scorpio pins Jeff, Jarrett I wish it was a kick to the chest, but it's a sunset flip. Let's just say, you know, I think he set it up with a kick to the chance though. I'm pretty damn sure there's been a tournament here. We should mention where triple h could no longer defend his intercontinental title. He's supposed to defend at least every thirty days or he'll be stripped he's out with an injury so they stripped him and they did a turnament. So triple h comes out and presents the intercontinental title. Ken shamrock Pat Patterson, Gerald, Brisco, and Sarge slaughter all there. And of course they've gone to talk about Rio de Janeiro. What do you remember about this built presentation here? Well, we had no choice. We couldn't have a match really couldn't do much other than what we did backstage at the pay per view, but it was just the big big to do and try to make is much as we could out of the situation without really being able to have any physicality or or do much of anything and make a big deal out of it. I was excited to say that the pay per view starts with two big stars house. No, and Martin mirrow are working to give us going here. They get a star in a half in their seven minute and thirteen second match else. No, here is fresh off of an e CW run where he had made have been pay per views earlier this year. The head gimmick is super over and Mario is marvelous. Marc Mero here and guess he's like the original Brock listener swords chat me up here. Would you think Alvis time hadn't seen in twenty years, I'm sure now snow and Marc Mero. Did you really just compare Marc Mero to modern day Brock Leser? No. Well, let's run through it. Now, in fairness, they both are wearing fight shorts. They both are married, disable. They both use the the same finisher. Are you smoking weed right now? No, I just saw Teke puff and now you're holding and coughing. I feel like all of a sudden we're in fucking keeping one hundred right now and you're doing bulbs over there what's going on. I don't have a ball while you there. You just had some sort of ape. It looks like is that something Dan Soder gave you? What are you doing? I am talking to you on the Skype me. She about judgment day in nineteen. Ninety eight with Mark Maryland house snow. Well, I just find curious that you went into full full blown pallbearer for a while and now you're you're puffing Chiba again, things lighten up on the end. You're holding it. This is. Teenage see, oh, my, it's tastes like jolly ensures. Yes. BRUCE'S shaking his head frantically at me. Where did you want now? Hang on. You show up in Nashville and you were you were happy as can be. Yeah, off of my bachelor party. This is well, I didn't get to your bachelor party. So I'm I'm backing it up now. Wait, didn't get to go means you just didn't come. You were invited I. I've already apologized for that eight times. Okay. Well, this is nine. Okay. Tell snow Mark marrow and Martin rose. Really the original Brock listener continue. Okay. Whatever, you know, watching this going back man. I it. The match was. Okay. No, it wasn't everything on this show. Fucking socked. No, Reno, not every almost everything on sucky shit filler on this shit. That's what I don't understand. It's like you look at how hot the businesses, another record, another record another, and I'm thinking, man, I can't wait to watch this look great. The business was and. It is lots of shit in a variety of shit. You know what? It was stuff. The lesson I took away from this as man. If your top act is hot, it don't really matter underneath. Well, that's true. The crazy thing about this was my take away from the match else. No, to me early on in his in his early thought. Alice knows when the best workers have ever saying. I think that Al at a hell of a future and was one of those guys that I thought really should have made it and coming in with head gimmick. And that was something off of e, c, w and and Sonal so forth. It run its course in EC w and bring it in here when Al was paying more attention to the gimmick. The match sucked in Maryland. You know you're working with Marc Mero sets a little tough to, okay, you're right. It kinda sucked. No totally. Did I? It's just lots of filler, you know, there's nothing really get excited about here. We go l. o. D. And d. away are up. Next, they're going to go five minutes and fifty five seconds. They meltzer's first sentence in the recap of the pay per view. Ellings arms were amazingly muscular for a guy who must be around forty six or forty. Seven. I wonder what he shopping for when he spends all that time on the web, hang on. Let me ask you a question. How old is Dave Meltzer now. So the man today, the Mets gets half a stall oldest day Meltzer now today, I mean, like nowadays, I don't know. He's probably older and forty. Six or forty. Seven? Yes. Would you say yes. So if you seen his arms lightly. Yeah, he's a great shape. Yeah. I mean, they're probably bigger than Paul Hillary's were. Then I don't know about that state Meltzer shot for on the web. I mean, maybe I don't know because if you're gonna cues someone from the way they look because it work out hard and they train. I'm, I'm not kidding anybody. Anything. I'm just saying, wow, that's interesting. Comment coming from somebody who's they cheese. Let me just figure Ella monsoon ferment, will you stop? No, so it's gonna if he's going to continue with this commentary, then I will answer his commentary pay didn't continue with it. He wrote at twenty years ago and now we're unfairly beating them up about it. There. He beat people up then without knowing what the hell he was talking about. So he doesn't know what anybody did or anything else. And by judging someone how they look, people can judge him with the exact same lens that he judges people. By the way. Elodie here have all their hair fucking awful. It does drugs like to dudes draws draws is out here and I'm with you. He looks like the most road warrior ask of the trio, which is a sad commentary on where the team is half a star man LSD nineteen ninety eight versus DO a count me out. I did not like it. What did you think. Brutal. It was. It was so brutal. You also have to look at, you know, you talk about hawk and the time with the gimmick and talking about his addictions and demons. If you will. Y'all got talked about his work because his his work was not good. At this time they they were really a shadow of their former selves. So will you think of l. o. d. you think of those guys that used to come out and just mall. Everybody in manhandle everyone. Those guys weren't the same guys that were here in nineteen ninety eight. And like I said, when draw draws at least looked like Hawkin animal of old. Now you're looking at two guys in the ring with their faces painted trying to keep up and it looked like they were the ones trying to keep up in the match it just it was. It was rough. It was clumsy. Yeah, this was kind of bad too. I'm kind of thinking about. I watch this thing at the end of the end of it. I made my notes and I go, okay, it wasn't as bad as I thought. But now you've got me talking about it shit. You're right next to plug for the superstar lawn. We've got DOK Hendrix. Sable house. No. And the head. Insert punchline here, serious business. I I never called the superstar hotline, but what the fuck was the content on this? What could this possibly be? Well, what it was was you had an interview are on one end and the talent on the other in the interviewer would ask them questions that reader coming in online. We did a lot with AOL that was back and forth on America Online, live chat back and forth booth. Also take questions from people in there were different variations of it. Sometimes they would have a lucky caller that was calling in and they would put them on live. So, hey, what do you want? What do you wanna ask head? And they would ask a question and then that conversation would be on the hotline, but it was a live commentary all the way through the pay per view. So for example, you can't get the pay per view in your area or you're too cheap to, but you wanna pay two dollars a minute to hear what the folks going on. You could do that and it will someplace you'd get updates and listen to backstage shit. It was just a reference people off as what it is. Jenner tamers another form of entertainment. You would recommend that people call and check it out. I would have then, yes. Just be ashamed yourself. We're going to call us in the dock index of your goddamn mannequin head for dollar ninety nine. We all joy is his dog intrigues it. We're going to Detroit tell this Saturday night at whatever the hill building is there Detroit because are so many, and we also go to Auburn and we all of these different places. I can't really remember stone cold. We'll be there live. That's right. Can you imagine if he because I'm sure nobody was really checking that thing from the office. Can you imagine if he just free bird it up one. Do you? Did you see that shit? He would, okay. We had the set built in the studio and everything, right? And it had a staircase like a false staircase. Whale food. One came down the staircase which actually kinda became a great rib on him because it would make him go up and down the staircase all day long graft laws, and he would come out. It's handsome duck yet rigs, and he would do the little shit on his face and everything with one finger and and move his chin back and forth. He was he was doing free bird Michael Hayes, no, nobody knew any different. No, just made on the hotline when nobody's listening this God and he's interviewing the head head to head what if I was to piss on new rotten. What if I was to take the tip of my dick head? And I'm just saying head, what if I took my dick hand and put it on your in this all over your free birds style, Dave do, hey, hey, I is that. Is that real life mouse right there. How is that mouth. Hi. Can you warm it up. Hi, hi. She traveled in the front seat with the head what that mouth do. So let's talk. Like when you're over there, sodas, wacky weed. This is all all right. Hi. Hi, hey, hi. Talked to be bitch book. You. Oh, no, no, bores foot me. It's fucking bitch. That is by the way, one of the funniest Michael Hayes 'isms ever. Let's we're going to haul show here for not careful. Just don't Michael Hayes. Let's save it for another day. Let's talk about Christian who has a fresh head hair here while Christian look super young and a ton of hair. I don't even remember this. He looks like he's trying out for skid row and he'd beats takemichi no coup and eight minutes and thirty four seconds to win the WWF light heavyweight title, and they get three stars here. What did you think is actually was good match? Fuck you. Anybody else doesn't think it was. This was good match. I was a little disappointed that dicta goes not out there with documentary goo, but while the Gucci was making the worst, you know, if you go back and look at some of the stuff that while Yamaguchi did back, then it would be everything that. Teach talent today not to do the the over exaggerated faces, the stereotypical everything. It was little crazy, but the match itself was pretty damn good. And I think this is Christians debut any wins the light heavyweight title in it. Why did the line heavyweight title not hit the way the cruiserweight title did for WCW because Vince while guys to work and he didn't want the car crash matches and Eric didn't watch that shit. He's a liar. If he tells she did, he wanted a car crash. She wanted to go out, didn't give a fuck who went over, didn't give a fuck what the did. Just keep moving. Don't ever stop that was just record. And that's what they did in the caught the imagination of a lot of people. It was different in that way. It was good. So, but we didn't do that. We wanna guys to slow down until the story with their matches and we didn't want that style. We wanted to be different from them a new thought, what you did was better. I thought, dude, I'll put this matchup against anything. They did fuck you. You're saying this is fuck you. You're saying this is better than like Eddie Guerrero and Rey, mysterious. I'm saying can hang. Yes, definitely. Okay. Let's keep going here. Goal dust. Valvoline, ass- and this is I don't know. The story line is what it is. It's a wife stealing story on, and these guys are going to get a star and a half Meltzer is not kind of gold us which we've covered in our goal to step aside. He would say, gold dust. Well, he's just us and Ronald basically living for years off rep is a good worker made when he feuded with Steve Austin in WCW six years ago, and he's been sporadic at best worker since what'd you think of this? This is not the best angle that we ever saw because you're seeing, Dustin do a bit of a religious gimmick sprang before matches walking around saying, he's coming back and you know, meanwhile Valvano is banging his wife. So chat me up. What did you think of the match. These guys didn't have good chemistry in the ring for whatever reason, both great workers and they just man didn't jail in the ring, and I can't tell you why. But one thing I did notice big-time gold dust entrance in listening through the night. This was the first like major big pop of the night was gold dust coming out here and he came out. He was a star. They were happy to see him, and it was it was a big, big damn deal. Then the fucking bell rang and it wasn't the greatest match. But I did disagree with with Meltzer on as far as gold dust and his work. I thought that his work was always good. And to this day, I think he's one of the best damn workers in the business. So I don't think that's fair. This match didn't jail. I don't think that bowel some guys. You just. It's all water. And in this instance, in this case, this gimmick, this whole angle just didn't think jelled. Can't argue that I didn't enjoy it. I thought it was more filler. I mean, they at least the do storyline and they tried to make it matter, but nobody cared. Yeah, and I didn't really care for the next night's either. I hate to be Saddam negative about this. I really liked both of these guys. I, I was a big deal Brown fan at the time, and I fucking hated ex pocket at the time, which is weird because now in real life, I like Shaun Walton a lot and I talked to him, I don't know once a week or every other week and listen to show every week, and you should too Xbox One, two, three sixty on the Jericho network. And Meltzer was really, really high on him as well. He says x. park may be the best worker in the WBF right now and Brown may be the most improved. It gives the three and a half stars before it ever reason. I was just sort of on it, but pock wins the intercontinental title here or at least that's what the the observer says. It's actually the European title title. But I like the European title as an actual. Belt. I'm not saying that it made sense to have it as a championship, but the actual design of the metal and leather thought was pretty cool. What did you think of the match twenty years later, they go fourteen minutes and thirty seven seconds. So they had plenty of talent Taylor story. Well, first of all, the European champion was big time over in Europea. Sure. Everybody knows that. Yes. So you ropy it was very important us and and we needed to have a champion for that. I thought that the match was solid. I thought it was good, but the thing about it was it wasn't. There wasn't enough story for for me to care about that, and and I think that's what you're really saying to on the match before this and this to that wasn't enough to really get you invested in it, a motion -ly to care. So I think it was just void of a motion, the match self man all the way through thought it was damned good, solid match, enjoyed watching it, but it's about where it ends. We've got the head bangers who are going to beat the new age outlaws by the Hugh and fourteen minutes and one second, they only get star and a half. I was a big fan of both of these tag teams, but this was not exactly a barn burner for whatever reason they didn't jail. What'd you think. Same comments about the gold bust and valvoline ass- these guys did not have chemistry in going back and watching the head bangers do the interview in the hallway. I say this man, but they just weren't ready for prime time the they weren't polished enough in and they didn't have that second nature. But this match this match sucked. It was not good in any way, shape or form guys shipping all over each other and just didn't make a lot of sense. What do you think the chemistry was all. Will. I think that when you look at it, you look the new age outlaws look at Jesse and Billy their workers are wrestlers. And then you look at. Glen and look at the head bangers and they were more of a gimmick were more brawlers. It just didn't. There was nothing about that worked for whatever reason you would've thought for young guys in their turn it up. The people would have been interested in it that they all could had a great match. It just didn't happen. Next up. We've got a Seguin in the back where we have mister SoKo, make an appearance with mankind. Pallbearer was in Kim room. He chat me up about this promo. Well, well, no. Well, actually, Mr. Soko's been a Nadi sock with his got what kind of underwear necklace shea, lingerie does. Mr.. SoKo have don't look at that. He's got the black lingerie under, and it was just classic. It was Mick Foley playing cactus, Jack playing Terry funk, telling a great story that meant nothing. However, when he got into the match, it meant everything in your in as much as I hated the finish of the next match. I loved the story and getting into the logic behind it. They kept the whole pallbearer store running through your. Queen. Oh two. Nutty Buddy's with peanut BUSTER par phase in a daily borrow. Really bars. But you know it was it was storytelling wellcoll Paul, do you want to see suckers underwear, curious. Kiss shamrock beats mankind to retain the air. Continental title. They go fourteen minutes and thirty six seconds. Melter was dig in this one. It gets three and a quarter stars. I don't even like the finish, but I'm a shamrock guy. I'm a mankind guy. I thought this was the best my it's on the show so far. It was it was a great match and it was a hell of a story at the time and the idea bide mankind, putting the mandible claw on himself and passing out so that he couldn't feel the pain of the ankle lock anymore. I just thought it was genius. However, the execution of it, watching it back all these years because I was a big fan of it that night. I remember hearing it and Mick pitch as like. Might just carried through and it told this six-storey Abed guide and then watching it now. Like, I don't know. I don't know what it was about it because the match was really, really great. And those testament, both guys, they told a great story through the match, but. The logic of of hearing it all these years later, the winner of the match due to mandible claw is like, do you ever hear that any other announcement? Right. Ken shamrock in and then shamrock gets pissed off. These just won the match. Well, fuck. Do you care how you wanna match? Right mother fucker. You fucking don't care. Each is win. The mother fucking manage. Get the fuck out of the ring. Goddamn MMA mother fucker Thuc. You. Are you ok? Well, other fucker a Hugh. So we've got Mark Henry out to read a terrible love poem to China. All stop at. That was great. It was awesome. And then he beats the rock in five minutes and two seconds. Meltzer would Ryan crowd died two minutes in didn't pick up until the people's elbow spot. It's got the biggest pop of the show. I think even with all of rocks, charisma, that when the add the total of rocks Rizla and Henry's lack of charisma, even ride up around zero, which pretty much describes much of this match half star. Fuck him. First of all, going back in again, talking about entrances in the lecture that crowd, rather when rock walked out, it was a double pop, which I always also always love watching. They popped on his music and it was a huge pop. And then there was that anticipation waiting for him to come through the curtain man, and you got that second huge pop. So that was again to me, it was. It was great to feel that energy. The match was what it was. It was. It was quick. It was short. It was painless. In it was way to to to move rock on and give Markelle nice, little win. Everybody's happy. And what's funny to me. A month from now, the rocks gonna win the world title and be your champion on pay per view. And here -absolutely marketers, bathe him. World's k, the world's strongest man marketing after he did a promo or a poem for China. Damn good to you. Gotta admit next up. Undertaker goes to a no contest with Cain seventeen minutes and forty one seconds. Steve Austin is the referee here. Not good, negative, half a star according to the observer after the match Steve Austin is stopping around trying to defined Vince McMahon and he's going everywhere. Backstage. He opens one door and Owen Hart's there. And of course they've been pretending that Owen Hart was not the blue Placer, but here we accidentally see, oh, and heart in that same track suit that he wore. But we've all seen thousand times. What'd you think. Well, that was at the end of the night, I thought, yeah, yeah, this is. That's the end of the night. Well, we didn't know we didn't talk about the match enough. It was what we talk about the match as much as you'd like. It's undertaker Kane with Steve Austin as the ref, and they don't want Austin do a lot of count. So they're not doing a lot of near falls. The crowd has Channing for Austin, who's the guy damn referee? Eventually they start chanting, boring pallbearers here and. Well. Would you think. Yeah, one that great. I mean, he just, you know, it was. It was again, it was a means to an end or dance to a means to to try and get further without having to crown a champion and to get Steve continue to have give Steve something to come back with. The whole. I didn't get the logic with undertaker in Cain where they're friendly. They're not friendly right. Working together, the working against each other. There have only been a few really good classic undertaker Kane matches for the most part. If you go back and watch those matches, they weren't up greatest matches in the world. Great story. But those matches were always the best matches in the world and this adding Steve. Is at third man, the spotlight's on Steve concerned that they're waiting for that stunner. Yep. And you know, they got it and people were confused with the finish, which was kinda, you know, the the start of confusing finishes on pay per views where we looked at tried to program or pay per view much like we used to program our house shows in the territory days, leave with heat, make them tune in TV to find out what's going on for the larger audience. In my opinion, just off that the finish in the match self was confusing. In needed a lot of explanation on the other side to me. Yeah, just wasn't great. It wasn't one of those, but there were a couple of good matches on this show and what a shady man event. Yeah, I didn't. It wasn't one of those really delivered for the hype, and because you're expect you're expecting one of one or the other to win and. You're not a never two million years. Vince can really fire Steve Austin, so you're going to fucking no contest again, I mean, this feels like to draw. You kissed your sister. Yeah. And people are paying money for this twice last month and this month. Of course, we're going to get a tremendous story. I just a month from now as Harare series, but damn, we had to buy three shows to get it. Yep. And yet, you know, you had to continue to tune in and it was a Bill. But again, that was just a different way, so. Okay. So then own hearts in the back. And I think that Lawler was fed the line. Was that the blue blazer instead? I think law said, oh my God, it's the blue blazer. Now. Now, one of those, and by the way your ass is in guerrilla on this show, directing traffic and yelling. Yes, that way d- d I think he went that way and then who's a second stooge he goes to, he goes to the hotline and Michael Hazel. I don't know stay. I seem the balls on that, but I got an ideal. If you're back that late aspirin. So the vacant title is still vacant. We're gonna have a world title tournament at saviour series the next night on raw by the way, another sell out over twelve thousand fans a two hundred and thirty five thousand dollar gate and raw opens up with all the wrestlers in the ring. McMahon is talking to them about firing Austin, and then they show Austin with the gun on the screen. Well, what you have, you have to go back and follow. Steve says, unifier me, then I'll just start hunting season early. Right? This little nugget little seed. They're so Steve caned Milly, walk walkway. Go hunting. Yes, he did. I mean, again, we're running through sort of shady, pay per views, but what conic moments that we're getting on Monday night raw here we're also getting a spot where mankind and sheriff Sokha with a badge on the sock are here to have a a slumber party with Vince McMahon and keep him company. The ministry of darkness is coming to fruition here. Take your says, the bear has come home to lead that ministry and JR is calling bear a rotund demon. This is an interesting show here because you've got. Head on the show. The rock is blowing it up. I mean, you got lots of things that are hot at the time, and then you've got tiger Ali sing out here with Babu roasting weenies and of all people the kill basa Queen from Howard Stern is there to simulate oral sex with the way knees and tiger Ali gives her five hundred bucks. What the fuck are you doing? Roussel's starring fan. So it was the whole kill basa thing was the stern gimmick that he had done on his show, bro. Everyone loves how would stun so that that was his his attempted to modern day got daddy, topical. And so we get the kill basa Queen. We also have Austin capture. Vince make him say, only like real loud, tie, put duct tape over his mouth and the show finishes with Austin, pushing Vince to the ring. Events is crying and Austin gives Vince a letter to read, and then he pulls a gun out and Vince is, is are crossing. And he pulls the trigger and outcomes of paper that says, bang, three, sixteen, Vince wets himself and then gets the stone or twice to end the show. Another conic moment on raw chat me up is shoot piss. Damn hell. Working may kid black one equal. Lot of training to piss like that on command fell. It's shoe pissed or work. In piss, it was a pissing ater that you get it. Pissing eaters are us is this the same wisdom later that may August pissing actor? Okay. Is this the same? Piss later that mandate used to get fired. I have no idea. Okay. Let's ask him. But it was a pissing later. I think it was pissing x. three seventeen. Did you personally pick it out? I did not. I did not. I had some input into the piss Nater three nineteen. Well, I mean, I, I assume he knew thing or two about us and stuff Seaney puffing Chiba the entire show over there that you probably knew where to get stunt painless. No, there was no Peniston Vall. It was just a hose. So, but we are, we saw godfather earlier. One of them helped Vance. You're saying one of the hose? Yes, Milwaukee hose, and they're kind of they. They're up there with the Omaha does and people in Milly while k.. No, what I'm talking about. Okay. So this is a cool moment here. See vents pisses pants. Is this pop the boys to save vents, peeing on camera? I mean, it feels like the guys are just loving this shit. You know there was a segment, loving it, but there was a segment going, what the fuck are we doing right? And you know, I was of that segment I was sitting there going, okay, we, you know, we don't do guns. Knives. We don't do this. We don't do that. But now we're gonna have a guy with a with a gun. Hold the owner of the company hostage. He's gonna piss his pants. Hey, it worked. And like I said, we're talking today, so I was wrong, but. It was. It was edgy man was different for that time by the way, it's a hit Rog. It's five point. One nitro gets a four point, three, six, and this feud with awesome. A man is so hot that on the twenty ninth MTV airs celebrity death match of Austin versus McMahon. Any memories of that? Yeah. Visit like, why the hell are we going to give them Austin McMahon, on MTV. He didn't know it was clinician death match God. Damn. Why would I get it a death match with him? Well, it's it's claim -ation in they Klay what. The people pitching it didn't explain what celebrity death match wasn't first. He thought it was them actually doing it. Yeah. I say, Aidid it didn't know they were just asking him to lend his voice and if they recalled use likenesses and trademarks other bullshit b. I was a little funny. I don't get it a this same week. Did a special on the life of Andre, the giant. Did you guys have any sort of input creatively or whatever, what that process as best? I remember they did come to us. I think we let them use some footage in gave a few comments but not a whole lot, and I don't remember the entire how all that came about. But I know that Vince cooperate a little bit because it was for Andre. Vince is also on the cover of the New York magazine. And in the story, McMahon would claim that the television character of Steve Austin is actually playing the real life role of Vince McMahon. Then ever come up in any of the creative that he sort of saw himself as the Austin character rather than the Mr McMahon character. I think in a way as far as defined thority maybe, but Vince always looked at Steve as really the common man and the every man who worked for someone else that wanted to tell that someone else go, fuck yourself. So he really looked at Steve is every man in a probably did look at it a little bit as goddamn. That's me. Fuck up thority and that's how he saw himself still himself that way. It was also written that the magazine is calling wrestling here, the hottest sport in America, the name of the story. Those is called beyond fake and Milford, right? The cover it self. As an interesting story. The magazine wanted a photo of Austin, with McMahon as its cover, which McMahon refused and offered a photo of himself with rocky mauve Lia claiming that my Avia will soon to be the biggest star, the company they refuse that because they believe the rock was arresting star, but not a mainstream star that Austin has now become such a huge celebrities that you see t-shirts. Everywhere you go. McMahon steadfastly refused to allow Austin's photo on the cover it without giving a reason and was implying that rock was being pushed as the new star in Austin was the declining star. Perhaps McMahon was willing to go so far as to pose with any wrestler in the company except Austin, MacOS while all the other angles can be shown on the new stanzas phony off. Versus Vince the money angle has to be protected. Although the photo posed with Austin suggested was supposed to be an antagonistic photo. What are you remember about if anything this debate about should he or shouldn't he be with Austin on the cover? Well, the reason for not having Steve on the cover was rock was the guy by the time that the magazine was coming out rock was going to be the guy. So Vince wanted without telling them that we're gonna do this angle with the rocket. He's going to be in the corporate, you know, whatever, and all this other stuff. He's going to be my guy without telling them that that's what he was trying to get to without having to tell them all of our creative plans and what have you. That's all there was behind it. It wasn't Tae. I don't wanna be with Steve or on protecting the business or anything like that. It was. They reporting that just so it would be timely and topical because people that would see that would also be watching television and you would see, oh my God rock invents and it would be kind of a coup for the New York magazine. It just that's the that's the story behind it. There is no story. Other than that, it's it's that plane and dry. They talk a lot in this article and I do want to touch on some of the things here because they're so much ground that's covered in this article. McMahon talks about the charges. You know, we've talked about the steroid Charlie, an archived episode, check it out, something wrestle dot com. But he says that he was convicted on one of the six charges, and he calls a conspiracy to defraud. The FDA says, it's still irks him to this day. Of course, he wasn't actually convicted of any charges. Any says that Brian pill men who, by the way, has just recently passed away, he says, was a steroid abuser. So he just wants to make sure that that's out there any talks about the Las Vegas property, the hotel acquisition, the Debbie Reynolds hotel that we've recently touched on here on the show, and he says, there's going to be stone cold bedding, chips, and undertaker tattoo parlor, a sable lingerie shop. Any sort of just runs through all of those different ideas for what this hotel could be or will be, of course it doesn't come to fruition. But he also shares a story about sneaking out with the legendary Dr Graham and bleaching his own hair blond as a teenager, all you know, against his father's wishes. Pretty candid promos stuff here that you don't really hear from Vince McMahon. At this time, there's an article like this get passed around locker room or the office. Well, to do is go by the damn new stand. So yeah, everybody was reading it and it was during a time where we were pulling the curtain back a little bit. You had to walk a fine line with Mr. McMahon character and Vince McMahon, the owner of the company. So it was get him out. There is much as you can as the character, but you also have to understand he's he's the owner and I think vents, you know, the the character is the owner. Character is Vince Mr McMahon is Vince McMahon. So it's those lines are definitely blurred, but times were changing. We were opened up and doing some things never done before, and I think peop-. Will you know, kind of looked at it thought, okay. Well, fee saying that everybody else can and NBA little more candid, but just times changing. Mega note here from Meltzer. He wrote in a note about mardi Bergman the husband of McMahon's attorney, Laura reveal who was accused in a major story in both the village voice and a New York Post of fixing the McMahon trowel by posing as a producer from current affair and offering her the main government witness Emily Feinberg money, but she refused. The reality was the Bergman was posing as a producer from sixty minutes and claim to find Berg that he could present her in a potential television movie deal and mall. Fon didn't compromise her integrity by taking money from TV show, which would certainly hurt her credibility in court Bergman posing as her agent did get enough knowledge as to what she did or didn't remember getting close to find Berg it later explained why brevetti in the courtroom had an almost ESP like knowledge, a fine bergh's knowledge and memory exploited those lapses with what at the time appeared to be. Marketable ingenious like precision, not that any of this would have changed the eventual outcome of the trial. This is like out of a movie here. You ever hear of any of this. As far as mardi fixing. The trial is absolutely preposterous. First of all, ended up it self Marty was married, Laura brevetti believe they're still married. And Marty was a producer for gotta think it was a current affair or something like that. But he, he was an investigative reporter as well and our producer and he did a lot of the investigations on the trial from the WWE side. So without a doubt, I know that he looked into everything. He's one that exposed the federal prosecutor for what he really was. And while you know, everybody say what you want to say, but the facts are the facts and wasn't convicted of anything. They're star witnesses had absolutely nothing to add to their case. It was all bunch of bullshit. And I, I have no. Idea what would any this pertains to as far as anything? I thought mardi was a hell of a guy and. There you go. I just wanted to bring it up because it was in the observer around the same time as this show judgment day nineteen ninety eight. How do you rank this pay per view? You know, there's. She really was. Scale of one to ten, I'm giving it a fucking for. I think this being very generous to know do come on. I'm giving six in three quarters. Thank you for that. Our pre sheet that I love that yet that in next week you're going to, you're going to really put in your mouth. Why she laying-off we'd cover. It's like a thing. He does every October. So, oh, I don't even. I don't even know shave, November it is it's like sober October or something, but I don't. I've learned don't even fuck with him. Like I don't text him DM. I just like his tweets and that's as interactive as we get. I'll catch you in November on. Sim is an abrupt calling him right now. That's not advisable. No, I'm calling him by the way we should plug that. He's going on tour with Conan O'Brien. Well, for the most part of it was positive. However, I do have to confess that about one o'clock in the morning. Last night. I got a text message that thank God. I didn't hear because my phone was still on silent from someone who informed me they're back. Logged on. The shows that Brian gha works is the one that came up with Trudel for the rock. So their their speed back. Got for you. The question was asked, didn't have the answer now got the answer was Brian boards who came up with strudel. Well, the world landed. No, that I suppose did. Here's what we need to know this week, all about Carlito and this is going to be fun for me. I know we have a lot of listeners who really enjoy the deep dives on the personalities as opposed to shows we've done a few shows in a row now. So now we get to shift gears and talk about maybe what could have been with Carlito Carlos Edwin Cologne junior was born February twenty first nineteen Seventy-nine, San Juan, Puerto Rico. And of course, a longtime fan may recognize the name right away. Carlos Cologne. His dad was a legendary pretty powerful name in the wrestling business, going all the way back to the sixties and even defeated RIC flair once within w world title in eighty three back in Puerto Rico. But the match never aired on TV. So it wasn't really recognized and Rick. Got the title BAC sort of one of those Rio de Janeiro phantom title wins. Anyway, things that happen. In Puerto Rico and Japan, a lot of times just didn't really happen. Yeah, this is before the internet could get away with that. The owner of the Puerto Rican promotion w w see the world wrestling council where he's been a twenty six time champion. Sounds a little familiar if you're a Memphis fan with mister. Jerry Lawler. Let's talk about Carlos. I don't know what we'll talk about him in long form here on the show probably doesn't make sense for us to do, but you had to have had some run ins with Carlos over the years. What was his reputation? What was your experience like with him? You know, Carlos Cologne was one of those guys that I throw up there with all the Anderson used to be of the throat there with all the Anderson that I'd never really worked with, and I got to me Carlos through Jerry Briscoe long after the fact, and it was. A trip to Puerto Rico for the I w c the promotion that Savia Vega and Victor Kenya's were promoting that I was going down there and and looking at talent and also come supervising the talent that we would send down. Then I laid on his on Carly Cologne or Carlito, and it was a called Jerry Briscoe hate your friends, Carlos Cologne, right? Yeah. He says, well, let's just kid doing and how do we get in touch and the ball started rolling. So it was. He was one of those guys. I never really worked with. I didn't know it and I didn't get an until we actually were interested in Carlito. Our hate to just go here right away, but how let's do you think Carlos 'as reputation within wrestling took a hit over the bruiser Brody deal. Oh, I think that the promotion it self to huge hit because it was just such a tragic tragic thing took place. And I think the guys as far as Carlos and Victor Viga obviously Jose that all those guys owners, they're in the promotion at self that people just didn't want. They didn't wanna make that trip. They didn't want to go to the island for that reason. I don't believe the Carlos had anything to do with it, but it just was a really tragic event that took place and marred. You know what was otherwise helluva place to go and work for awhile man on the beach and they, the money was decent, and it was good place to go parents. In case you're not gonna loop on the bridge Brody story. You should probably check it out. There's a tremendous documentary that vice LAN put together that will be released. I believe in the first quarter of next year, and you can also check out the high spots version. But the story is Bruce Brody was murdered in the shower and Carlos didn't do it, but maybe Carlos didn't do enough after the fact, or at least that was the criticism. But that's a story for another time. Let's talk about Carlito man. He starts training allegedly. He's like eleven years old just to get in better shape, but it's after college when he decides to really pursue a career in wrestling. What do you think of that? Is that common? Because I feel like you hear that more and more from Gaza that generation like Cody Rhodes is, you know, on record inside dusty book saying, he doesn't want to be a wrestler. He had seen the ups and downs of the wrestling business that establishment through and he decided he wanted to do something else. We'll fast forward of course. Now cody's all over and wrestling's a big part of his life for the last decade. Do you think that is a generational thing? Because it does feel like it's more Goss from that generation maybe generation before they wanted to be a wrestler earlier, is that because of the ups and downs, or what do you think has changed over time where guys don't say generation doesn't automatically say, oh, this is definitely what I wanted to. Think for a lot of the guys, they didn't have their tab for so long because they were traveling and they were all over the world wrestling so they didn't grow up with them right there. And maybe they just didn't didn't care for that. Style lifestyle, you know? So I think that it's it's different for everybody in whether or not you know, their dad really pushed him to do so for Carly. Harry was in Puerto Rico and Carlos didn't travel that much. Obviously go to Japan and he would go make different shots and go off and do other things. But his brand butter was right there in the island. Maybe it was just something that Carly didn't really want to be a part of for whatever reason. But yeah, I think that for a lot of the guys when they remember, here's what they remember, Ted Diaz remembers his dad being gone, right? And I think that with Qodian and those guys, they remember dream being gone. Remember their dad, not being there, maybe that's what fuels that AB. I don't wanna go have that lifestyle. Then once you get a taste of it. Stuff to shake. So chat me up a little bit here. I wanna talk about the pressure that a second generation guy like that must feel when he comes in the business. I mean, especially in Puerto Rico, and we've seen this, you know, different approaches, I should say, you see, like, for instance, David flair and then Charlotte flare. So there's two different approaches, but they're still very much embracing the legacy and participating in. And then there's the broad Christopher, Jerry Lawler routine. And the reason I bring that up is because I do feel like it's a similar situation where Jerry Lawler has been so stabbed in his own promotion, and then you know, for other folks, but he is the man in Memphis, probably much like Cologne was the man in Puerto Rico. Carlito's gone on record saying he felt a ton of pressure to sort of meet or beat the accomplishments of his father. How big of a deal is that? I mean, obviously changes everything, but does it help you? Does it hurt you? What's your take? Well, I think he got big shoes to fill nothing that those, here's the difference to Carlos was a promoter. He owned the company importer Rico. So he was just it's top star. He was the promote odor. He was the boss. He was the guy that ran everything you look for its Eric. It was the same situation, Dallas Fritz was also the promoters wells being the top draw. The big attraction there. So it's a little. It's a little different. But at the same time, those guys had even more pressure on them because people looked to Carlos and they looked at the Cologne family is being a part of their. So what is boys was like, man, that was that was everybody else's boys to with Fritz and the kids that they were everybody sums everybody considered Kevin and Kerry, and David, all those guys who just wanted their family because they grew up with them. So there's even more pressure is the son, not just a professional wrestler, but of promoter the motor son. Now, who is family grown up in front of everybody and now not only is there pressure from the promoter. There's pressure from the public and everywhere you go, people know who you are and are expecting big things from you. Well, people were expecting big things from Carlito, but demanded happen January two thousand. He became the youngest man to ever win the WWE title defeated. Reagan Zola's later that year he wrestled American legends like Mr.. Perfect. And the one man gang, did you ever have conversations about his early run with Carlito back when he was I saw cutting his teeth. I mean, he's wrestling almost like a who's who, you know, Sabbath and vampire, oh, and eighty. Guerrero and Conan, and Tommy dreamer. There's tons of opportunities here for him to really work with some big names, which is a luxury not often afforded to young guy right in the one batch that I saw when I was over, there was Carly and Mr.. Perfect. I happen to be happened to be in Puerto Rico for for another show. The w. c. show. I saw during the day and made phone call to Kurt heading that day because I knew the Kurt was in the country. It's time around the island us, and, hey, man. Once you come on by my hotel, let's have a drink tonight. So Kirk came by, I wanna say that he, I think he had David Sierra with him who's another good guy. Cuban assassin today l. Castro was name, but they came by and I asked her then tell me about this. Carly Cologne, and Kurt could say enough great things about him. So that's when that phone call. Was made Jerry Briscoe today. Carlos on the phone. That's make a deal. He just had, you know, he had a great look and unbelievable firemen and and just he was magic in the ring to me are second time out here and tell everybody about save with Bruce dot com. I dark match with you guys and may have, oh three and then reports to Lovie w Ohio valley wrestling end-july of o-3 where he's wrestling as Carly is I, my theories teaming with horseshoe and John Hannigan and loses toback Cappitelli, Johnny, Jeter, and tank Toland man look at that curry right there. What are you remember about his arrival in Lovie w and sorta what the what the rep was. What was the report back that you heard? I'm sure rip Rogers was there what can you tell us about his time in Lovie w? Well, this was also time that Vince wanted everyone to kind of go through the developmental system, no matter who they were where they were in their career. So he felt that Carly being young. He wanted to make sure the car didn't have any bad habits. They wanted to train them the WWE way. So Carly. Was I sent down to Lovie w plus was also was working all the time. It wasn't working steady diet in five, six days a week, so wanted to help him get some of that ring rust off and get him in a little bit better shape. I think that when Carly, I went down to obey w, I don't think Carly felt that's where he should have been. The Carlito was kinda thinking that you know he, he should come in and on right in right into the roster on the main show and and that was it. So. There were a little. They're different reports. I never saw. He never said it to me, but there were reports that you know, he thought that he was better than the developmental system. He didn't need to be there and you know, truthfully, I don't think he needed to be there either. I thought he was somebody that was ready to come up on the main roster when when we brought him in. Let's talk about rip Rogers for a minute. I'm trying to work it in here because I don't know when we'll talk about him. Again. He's a as you would say, a gimmick and a half and super fun follow on Twitter, but a lot of listeners only know him as wrestling personality from Twitter, what can you tell us about reprises the guy behind the guy, well, rip rip lived the gimmick, man. What you see is what you get with rip Rogers in. He was what they would call, I guess, journeyman wrestler, who traveled all over the world. You know, doing the same gimmick all he was a body guy always kept himself in for Mendes shape. But the thing about rip is he was steady, has fundamentals down and ripped was steady. Man. He could work with anybody and everybody enjoyed working with him. So when rip settled in outside of Kentucky somewhere, Indiana, he's from India. Danna. It was a good little gig that Danny Davis utilized rips talented, train people. And I think that that was really his forte was being able to take talent from a total novice and get him into the ring, get them somewhat bring ready, but you talk about characters. Characters rip Rogers is was, is a character, no doubt about it. Let's back to Carlito here. He forms a tag team with Johnny. We're talking about Johnny, whatever. And here I guess he's still Hannigan and after they lose to Damian Sandown and Simon dean, man, there's a lot of names here. The team is dissolved, so there is just a ton of names trolling through a high valley here while ago, like Carlito is in Ohio valley. When do you guys start working on what the. Creative is going to be to bring him in and then maybe what it's gonna look like it. We've talked about creative services here on the show before where people start doing sketches of outfits and things like that, and you start running through names win. Does that whole process for the look, the name, and then the actual story that will bring them in start to come to live with all their down in developmental. But that's a process. And that's something that it's a cumulation of things. It is the trainer sending back their reports on the talent of us being able to get down there and see him firsthand in a function of full. The roster is that there's some spots that are open up on the roster. We need talent. That's where we're looking and that's what we're going, I, but also the same time, you always have to have a plan for the influx of new talent. So if there was someone that. People in the developmental system going, hey, disguise, great man, he's got it. He's ready to come up. Then you go down and you pay more attention to them. You try to figure out some way to bring him in. If this time we had, we had a pretty full roster. And so we had the luxury of taking our time saying, okay, let's come up with right story when we know that a talent is ready to go, and we would oftentimes wait for the thumbs up from the folks in the developmental system. Yes, changes name while still down there. He starts to be Carlos Cologne junior. Ultimately, of course that's not what he's going to really make his name on WB TV with. Why are you guys sort of trying different things? Carly Carlos Cologne, junior and then ultimately Carlito any memories of how that process came together? Well, I'm sure on the Carlos Cologne junior, that was probably a corny call goes. Everybody knows Karl's colonial and make a junior the Vince hater juniors events hated that second generation junior tag on anybody felt it was a curse, but hang out now doesn't he also hate it because people called him junior and he hated, yeah, he's not junior, and that's the thing they always you get pissed off about, but he also feels that there's always going to be an immediate comparison when you do that and didn't feel it was fair to the younger talent. Save always wanted them to have their own name and plus also for us on create the nave so that we owned it, where did Carlos? I mean, where did Carly where to Carlito? Where did he fall on this? Does he have a preference? You said, you know, he thought our vents being, hey, pronounced pal thought that maybe calling someone junior wasn't really fair to them. What did Carlita think. I don't really remember. I remember when when Carly came in because that's and that's how I always refer to him as is as Carly because that's how I I saw them. That's what they called him, then Puerto Rico. And I think Carly just wanted to be Carly and it was it was Vincent band who came up with Carlito. Cool, man, you're Carlito and it sounded from Chabot wasn't just Shaab lead to child seems Chevy Tahoe. And to this day I call Chabot junior Chevy tow and Carly. That's how that that name evolved from car. Carly Carlos Carlita. And I think that Carlito light that I mean, he, he definitely seemed to like it when it was finally pitched him. But I think he was just kind of going through the motions and go through what he needed to do at this point. The career. On October fourteenth thousand three. He teams with Simon dean, dark match loss to Sean O'Hare, and Matt Morgan before velocity, and then come February before it's the first time he turns he'll this happens in OB w he joins a group with Shad and Jerome crony and Dimond Thomson, Mike Mondo, and the leader of this heel faction, Kenny bolan. What did you think was? Did you enjoy Carlito better as a heel or a baby face? Well, originally I always thought the Carlito list an excellent face man. He had that fiery that that Latin temper, and I thought he was much better baby face than than he was a, he'll later years you asked me today. I think he's much better he'll but then I was say, man, there's there's too much baby face here right now to just let go. I really felt that he had more legs as a baby face. And you say that worked out. He works a lot of dark matches and then some shots, you know, right before he inva- Las ity. Of course, these are happening before raw and smackdown, and that's, you know, through like may of that year, I would suppose. And then it starts to look like you guys are getting ready for it by June of, oh four, you start filing copyrights for the use of carlito's Cologne, which was the nickname his dad teas. Don't know. Always thought his dad was just Carlos. Anyway. While you still trying to figure out, you know, which way is the best way to sort of present him trying different things. And Lovie w in cornet is actually on record as saying that he thought Carlino was a very talented performer capable of doing great stuff, but he only did it when he was on and he was used to being treated as wrestling royalty, and he was in the role of the boss's son, and he goes on to explain the limited role saying I didn't feature Carlito because he thought he was more advanced than the rest of the guys and was cruising. But that wasn't what I wanted to see and Cologne is rebuff this by saying the could've done more with him in Lovie w. And the reason he didn't is because quote, Jim cornet doesn't like me. Remember any sort of back and forth with cornet and Carlito. Yeah, they're both right part of the issue was when Carly came in that we had promised his father Carlos. We would make Carly available for him for or time that if Carlos had a big show or Carlos had something going on in the island, and he wanted to use Carlito for that while our Lido was in developmental, we will let him go back to for Rico, make those shots for him to cornet that would disrupt sometimes got the bit West Virginia wherever the hell they are and no Carlito because he would be back at the island and there was that rap on on Carly. And again, I never really saw because he always seemed to buses asked where we were around was that you know, he felt he felt. Entitled than that, he didn't really want to be in the developmental territory in the just wanted to get up to the main roster and go. There's truth. Both of those statements pretty much. I don't know of cornet of them or not. Do you think that if cornet thought that maybe somebody was lazy, he would just not fuck with them? Yes, definitely. All right. Well, let's talk about one of the ideas. This is the rumor innuendo portion of the show here, I guess allegedly the plan when she guys modifies named Carlito was that he was going to be given the gimmick of. A metro sexual and the plan was for him to team with Rico Constantino. But of course, this idea is dropped. Win Rico gets legitimately injured in a match chat me up about a metro sexual man. I wish I could, but I can't recall any idea Carly ever being a metro sexual man from the from the beginning and maybe somebody did talk about that, but it certainly wasn't taken seriously standpoint every get my happy ass. That for Carly, we were always kinda looking at that that Caribbean cool type character and. So I never heard any metro sexual man on the fuck that is. Well, you're metro sexual. A little good looking guy. No. I mean. Alex plane later. Okay, let's keep it going here. He shows up as Carlito, Caribbean cool on a smackdown house show in September of two thousand four happens on the nineteenth and he gets a win over Scott to haughty chat me up about Carlito Caribbean cool in a we talked about Carlito but Caribbean cool. This has been McMahon all over it. Definitely. And yeah, the the other thing that which is a story. I don't think too many people know at all, but we hid. You know, we had this gimmick with Carly and we were planning on doing vignettes down to Miami. So I wanna say it was it was July or August, but there was a hurricane coming in at the same time. I was. To say, I was stressed would be an understatement at this time. I gone to the doctor. My blood pressure was stroke level, and the doctor wanted check me into the hospital right then walked out now on fine, and he suppression to take leave apps this and get away from all the stress in your life or you're gonna die. So taking his advice on, jumped on plane to Connecticut, and and I was up there for one of my weeks of being in the office, and they decided that they wanted to shoot vignettes right then in Miami. So the made reservation, they didn't ask me. They made reservations for me to go to Miami, and whether like on every channel even in in New York, they were talking about this massive hurricane that's coming and how they're shutting down their shutdown, the islands of shutdown, Miami, no service in or out that the people getting out of Miami, they've got twenty four hours all scrap. So Stephanie McMahon's assistant demands that I go to Miami. I'm not going to Miami hurricane shitty, Miami down as I may be able to get in, but I'll never get out. I'm not one of my having an how the hell are you gonna get Carter think though there he can't get there. He's he's hunker down where he is so stand the outside the studio because they were said they sent a car to take me to the airport. And when I got in the car, I suggest to take the airport and I went got on plane and called the Musset, hey, I'm going home and I just went home. My doctor, son mono saying Bruce needs leave of absence and needs break from this craziness. I thought I was going to die. I thought I was absolutely gonna die. So needless to say, the hurricane came in and kinda wiped out Miami and they ended up doing some of those vignettes. Vince actually did him in. I think they did them in the Carolinas somewhere. Someone that did a Miami, but that was that was the point righteous was about ready to crazy. Does that when Bush Richard lost to smile. Yeah, yeah, I did. I did Conrad lost my slow. And then like when I came back, did moon saw off the top rope and all of his better. You know, I feel like like two weeks later, Stephanie called and said, but did you die. Well, you know, shit happens. So we start to see these vignettes that you were too lazy to shoot and went home for Bouba faced about on TV him walking on the beach talking about how knowing the kids on the beach are just like the kids of WB fans. Then he kicks saying castle that a little girl had made in another one apple in the face of an old man who selling fruit. We'll talk about the apple Vigna in a minute. This all feels very razor Ramon is that sort of the the motivation, the inspiration, if you will, for these vignettes. I think they were very razor Ramon ask, and I think that they had that feel about 'em definitely when it was. It was just that Highland feel and it was something that. You know, people are going to draw comparisons to no matter what you did. Well, people are going to draw comparisons to the good old days for you. So the apple spitting is going to become a trademark of Carlito whose ideas that where does that come from all vents round that was Vance looking at it and siding, you know, when you we're looking for punctuation point, double Jay had is j. e. j. the lar e. double t. dub day gift here. In, we're looking for a that punctuation in. He was eating the apple stuff, and it was like, instead of, you know. The shouting thing, keep it down here, man, that's not cool man and do the spit right into the camera. So spending people's face spitting into the camera that was events call just was that one punctuation for Carlito at the end of all of his promos. I don't wanna talk about the debut here because this is a big, be a huge way today. Beauge October seventh on smackdown carlito's going to challenge the van United States champion John CENA to title mass later in the evening, and during the course of the contests Carlito is going to hit CENA with his own steel chain, hit the pin and win the United States title. Talk about a debut. You don't see guys debut like this very often. What exactly advance think was the upside. What did he think was possible with Carlito for him to debut in this way? Well, first of all, in my opinion, karleena was was total package. He could work. He could talk man and he could go. So we knew that we had something there wasn't like a guy. Outage felt mental that didn't know how to take a bump before he got there. Carly. Had been on topping, Puerto Rico, Carly had worked with a lot of top guys torn the house down. We knew that we knew Carly could hang. So it was a way to come in and make an impact right off the bat. Man come on in beat top guy, win championship, and have people talking about you right in the very beginning and just different way to debut somebody. And what did I be was, you know, this is a big deal when a guy makes it a b and wins the title. How does that go over with the boys in the locker room? I think that most people that knew Carly and most people that had seen him work again, it wasn't some new kid on the block. It was somebody who had pages of someone that was a, you know, a top guy from another territory from the islands that they respected, and they respect to his dad in Carly never was one of those guys that was a big shout Malaka room or anything like that. He was genuinely liked, so they'd people did respect it and they were happy for him. Let's talk a little bit about. The way you guys strap the rocket ship to him. He wins fourteen matches in a row, including title defenses against rob van dam eighty Guerrero right mysterious hardcore. Holly. This feels like, especially since we know how historians. Is this a good thing and Hans? I mean, obviously wouldn't see a guy come up so strong and get so many wins you gotta think, well, how in the world can that be bad? But when you have gotten a report from Jim cornet that maybe he felt like he was spoiled lazy and wrestling world to your whatever. But now at the same time, you put the belt on him and he's running through guys big names because those are a who's who hall of famers there that we just ran through. Is it too much too soon in hindsight, in your opinion? No, I don't think so. I think that again, you, you have to judge people in their environment and to Carly's defense being Lovie w. And what have you think that it was a stark change for him, and he had come from being a top guy and in his father's promotional working with a lot of the who's who of wrestling business, and then to be perceived as a beginner and a new guy in Lovie w I think that he took that kinda what, what am I doing here? And I think that corny took his attitude which is not a a never got that by from Carly that I'm better than you anything else like that. I got the the vibe from Carly. That is like, hey, what do you want me to do? And he's not wasn't really a self starter. But again. I never had a problem with the guy from standpoint of, hey, we need you to do this and he got it and he delivered. So I think it's perception and I think that it's environment and put him in a different environment, put him on the roster in a different environment Lau to flourish. That's we were hoping for and and I think that it was good for him in the beginning because gotta noticed. Doubt it is. I mean, how could it not? One of the the first storylines was a story hun. Wear Hayes zoos stabbed sina in a nightclub. First of all before we run through that, who tell everybody who has, hey, Suzy was and where he came from. Aaron Aguilera was, hey sues and he was a gentleman from California. He was an art Veld mental system. The idea was we're going to have, hey, Susan, Carlito, be a team and come in, and he Seuss would watch Carly's back and and what have you. And when we had to get rid of seeing for a little while and it was to do something outside of the outside of the wrestling ring and in real life. This was during a time when Vince wanted real life stories and outside outside the ring and God damn, you know, get out there needs to be a drama and as what he came up with, I just didn't think it was really good because it just, I don't know. I just felt it was little crass. He thought what was crass about the angles crafts. They didn't like the stabbing. No, I didn't like it not happening in the ring. If against. Thank if you wanna do drama. You want to do all that stuff, then you need see it. Okay. If he on is giving comparisons to soap operas and everything. So poppers, you see the guy, shoot, you say the guy's style museum get chloroform d- it was just talking about it with a guy that nobody knows who the hell he is and. Don't to me. It didn't work, didn't fit our environment. It's time. It's just funny to me that you're like, oh, it was crass. I can't really. We did it anyway. She stabbed him in the ring. No should stab them at all. But if you're gonna stay in the ring. Yeah. You can't. You can't do. You can't do it. There's no two meters payoff to that. Do you think listen. Wade, Keller's the person who I made the connection for me cause I remember at the time thinking, what the fuck are they do, and but not really putting it together. The technically carlito's dad is someone who is at least in the conversation for the bruiser Brody stabbing, does that not come up at all? I'm pretty sure probably did. I don't think anybody really thought of it because eight wasn't Carlito and but again, it's just eat. You don't do stabbing wrastling. Gay Stipe. Some book. Vice you poor storytelling, Dave, Dave. Wade, right? Carlito cool as well. Like behind the scenes and his handling himself professionally, even though he's a part of what could be construed as the tasteless angle with John CENA. It's not a big topic of conversation. The implication that he stabs at a nightclub is considered to be an inside a reference to his father's involvement in the death of bruiser Brody when Jose Gonzalez junior stab Brody to death in a locker room incident. It's unbelievable. One veteran wrestler told Wade, sadly, most of the young guys around here probably don't even know who bruiser Brody is or anything about his death. So maybe it doesn't ruffled feathers. But this stabbing storyline is something that has gone on to become wrestling lore because originally according to the rumor innuendo. Hey, Susan was not the first guy or the only guy you guys thought about having stab, John CENA, true or false new Jack's name was thrown around as the potential stabber false. All right, thanks man. Pre sheet. Your deposition work here. Yes, curve all this false. I mean, what? What else she say? No, we didn't talk about new Jack for this role at all. This is something that is just become urban legend from some somewhere somebody, but it there's just no truth to it. So. What do you say that again, the the Turk sheets and talented made up there on air in their own story. Is use ultimately gets cut April of, oh, five allegedly. Because management wasn't say, got, well. It's trying to decimate inside reference right there Conrad low class. That's that's bad. Won't you guys happy with his work? He was getting injured lot and he just couldn't keep up. And that was the gist of it. He was not ready for primetime think we rushed him coming in. And just wasn't ready for prime time. Kurla hold the US strap for forty two days before losing it back to CENA after suffering a separated shoulder. Chat me up here. When a guy gets a big push. Like this goes on a string of wins, wins belt is first night in, etc. Cetera, and then has an injury pop up like this is Vince lose confidence and think that guy is not reliable. That's not a question to be reliable or not. It's injuries happen and you have to wonder, sometimes this isn't a recurring thing with him. So the first time that we're encountering anything like this, nothing like that at all. You just won't see how quickly it's going to get back, and it's an unfortunate situation, but it's had a habit of every time the turn around stubbing his toe and being in a sling, that would be something different. This was just a bad poorly timed injury. What does it take for a guy to get the label injury prone? You know, we've heard through the years, different guys on the main roster today based sort of painted with that brush. And he just made reference to the fact that he's was injured a lot. Is there. Could you tell I know there's not a hard and fast number half. You've got three injuries and x. number I know that doesn't exist, but could you sort of tell when Vince was tipping the scale that way where he finally just deems in his head injury prone? Yeah, usually it's someone who has lot of nagging injuries and a lot of old injuries that we were never aware of that perhaps they did get him treated properly for they came in and it's always going to be a nagging injury until you go in, get your situation taken care of and can move forward. So there was that feeling of if somebody was constantly injured constantly had that nagging injury constantly out for six weeks here, eight weeks there that it's their injury from. Do you remember what the story would have been had he not been injured and would have been able to continue to defend the title? Well, I know that the the original idea was to go on with CENA and continue to work with seen, just seen over stronger as baby face. That was always the idea. Ultimately, he makes his pay per view debut sort of survivor series. Oh four. He is supposed to be representing team angle in an eight-man tag team against team Guerrero, but he doesn't actually participate in the event after being chased out of the building by John CENA. While Corey Lido is recovering from this injury, he's involved in a comical angle with the smackdown general manager teddy long early has today demeaning chores around the arena, like selling hot dogs, moving snow from the parking lot mopping, floors even has to do an Elvis impersonator gig. And as a result of these actions, he creates petition in support of long's firing. But of course it doesn't happen. I guess what guys aged like this, but he's got hot character that you guys are invested in gotta find something to keep him on TV right. Well, yeah, you wanna keep him involved in some kind of a story line. So the people have been the forefront of their mind and he was entertaining. I thought this was some good entertaining stuff that would see a different side of his character. Let people know that he could be funny and you keep them bright out there in front when it's time and he's healed is injury. He's ready to go and peep. You have missed a beat. Then they don't even know point, realize the guys injured after awhile. If I only comes back to entering action on March twenty six when he's been out for six months at this point, and he takes on his younger brother eighty during an event in Puerto Rico, and he arrives to the stadium by helicopter and gets a massive pop from the crowd viewed as later he's back on the road, working house shows forever to be working off the ring Ross against Mark Jindrag Scotty to haughty and Nunzio. And of course he has so much is with John CENA as well. Sina is successful in those Carlito finally makes his wrestlemania debut wrestlemainia twenty one a huge segment here the interrupts piper's pit segment between Roddy piper and Steve Austin, talk about vote of confidence to the all time greats and what wrestlemainia moment. This may have been, whose idea was it to have Carlito involved in that? How did those guys feel about it? What are your memories of the segment? You know. Don't remember who came up with it originally. I think it was Brian, but it was a way to take the big mouse of the past in the different generations really add piper. You had Austin and now get throw Carlito in there, and it was a great rub for Carlito without having to go out and work a match. And dare say that one segment did more for him in the eyes of the audience than anything else that we possibly could have done in going out and winning a Matt twenty minute match. One done as much for him going out being in the ring with piper and Austin, and doing what he did with them. We just say right now for a minute that this entire run feels very, very familiar to me if you had to compare the way, he's they beuing and he's out here with this big, push this fast. Does this remind you of anybody? We've talked about this year. Bras, we have a lot of people who are you referring to head? It's Muhammed Hassan. You know, we talked about Muhammed Hassan very early in his career being in the ring with hulk HOGAN wrestlemainia, holy shit, very early in your career. You're in the ring with Roddy piper. Install Steve Austin, wrestlemainia. You're getting push right away with weren't wins over eighty in Ray and you win the title your first night in. It's just interesting to me. Sometimes Vince just gravitates these characters and decides to push push push, but the longevity for whatever reason time really there, right? Yeah, I would agree with that. The only difference is and I'm not good sound of meaning to Mark. Mark did not have the towel, Hassan did not have the talent that Carly. Oh, no, listen, I mean one Gaza, multiple generation wrestler. I mean, yeah, I'm not comparing that. I just made the way Vince sort handles them. Yeah, it's good comparison. He grew up in the business. Of course, he's gotta realize this is a big deal to wind up taking a stunner and having piper three of ring wrestlemainia did you anybody have down or or run through this with Carlito me like dude, pinch yourself. This is some fantasy shit here you're doing well, Cardi got a grow up with the likes of piper and flair those guys coming over to the island working with his dad. So yes, that was a a huge moment for him. The one that guaranteed go unnoticed. It wasn't something that he was flipping about. I think that Carly was happy with that position being able to be in same ring as is Roddy Steve bubbly. He looked at it is that that big positive leads to match, believe it or not. There is a Roddy piper. Carlito mass happens in Puerto Rico on may. Twentieth piper wins the match horse. His next big story line is trying to recruit a new bodyguard. And big show is the apple of his eye. Pardon the pun, but big show wants nothing to do with it. So somehow during the middle of this feud, Carlito tricks, big show into eating a poisonous. Apple, that's real, Matt Morgan would become carlito's bodyguard. Let's get to judgment day two thousand five may twenty fourth big show gets a win over Carlito here in about three minutes. What can you tell us about this stupid ass poisonous, apple angle. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa, there major motion. Pitchers, poisonous, apples, man, haven't you when you were a kid, Halloween? Did your mom inspector apples, razor, blades, and shit and poison. Listen to you. It can happen. It could happen. So you're saying big shows, mom was there. This wouldn't have happened in big show's. Mom were there in big showed only heated. The lessons of I'm sure bid shows Mamma, taught him as a young big show when he was a little show that this never would have happened. This just goes to show you that kids need to check your apples for each Apple's about that, and I'll tell you this. Still working on the house shows against big show through June of, oh, five, but that's also win. The new draft happens. And when that happens, we see Carlito wind up moving over to rawal and in his debut match their, he beat Shelton Benjamin to win the intercontinental title, which is pretty awesome. I night on smackdown wins the US I line on raw wins the intercontinental Woz. The decision made here to debut in this way. Again in a title win. Why l. when got debuted on smackdown he wanted Todd to walk it when it comes Raleigh, win, title. That's how we get Carlitos. Again, they can impact the just having come on in and people think what have you got here without a different environment for him being on raw and let slide him right in there. Again. Take to the next week which is June twenty. Seventh, the intercontinental champion Carlito host the for first episode of carlito's Cabana, which I think is an interesting twist. Did you guys already know? This is June twenty-seventh? Did you already know at wrestlemania twenty one when you had him interrupt the piper's pit segment that you wanted him to have his own segment similar to piper's pit order this. I'll just happen after the fact. By that time we had a pretty good ideas. Different way to expose him is to do the the setpiece with without the okay, he can handle this and it would be a different way. He was the right size. He wasn't too big so that he wasn't going to dwarf the other guys. Plus he could get his heat on the microphone. So I think that before we even got wrestlemainia, we'd been talk talking about doing the segment with Carly. What's the creative process the clock where you guys come up with the name, carlito's Cabana. Well, how hard is that one to come up with God? Damn, what are we don't call it carlito's ban carlito's Cuban cigar rolling place. It rolls off the tone man. That's just the. That was a no brainer. That's probably the first and only suggestion made. I love it's a Cup down on he's Carlito and they both have three syllables out. Oh my God, it's the kid, vengeance Jin twenty six Carlito retains over Shelton Benjamin retains that intercontinental title on July. Fourth, let's fast forward to this one. Check this out whole Cogan and Shawn Michaels team up to be Carlito incurred I angle until any this Airlie similar to main Muhammad Assan hey, did you see rawal this past week? What did you think of Shawn Michaels being balled? I had not seen it yet. Did you know he was bald until I just said that I did not know. He was bald until you just like bald ball, bald, bald completely shaved, bald. This one of those right need to go and look it up right now Conrad. I mean, if you want to, I mean, it would be cool if you kept up those going on in wrestling. Well, I'm I'm here doing 'em. I'll w wrestling, isn't that enough? Okay. Curly. I'm good. Look the damn thing up now. That's great. We're really happy to hear that karleena worked all the house shows through August, mostly with Shelton Benjamin and shown Benjamin's guy who still around which is just it's fascinating. Look back all these years later, and some of these guys are still wrestling, you know, pretty interesting. But I mean, good. God shalt not that old either. Oh, no, I'm not. I'm not saying that he's old. I'm just saying, you know, it's weird to talk about time is a funny thing, and so car Lido to me feels like he hasn't been in WB in like twenty years, and I know that's not accurate Shelton. Benjamin is a guy who feels like he never left and he was gone for a long time, but he's back now and it's just weird to sort of follow these guys careers on, see how you know they're on the roster. They're off the roster. They're up down all around and you know, Carlito based on the way this push is is supposed to still be there in a big role and he's not. And that's why we're doing a show on him and and explaining. But it is just fascinating to me the way it all changes. It does, and I just saw Shawn Michaels, bald luck and I'm thinking, looks pretty good on him. Well, thanks for, here's the thing. Here's the thing. Okay. And Michael Hayes, I hope is taking notes on this. Just do it, Michael juicy j that shit off man and go for it because shot always had pulled back anyway. And he pretty much looked bald anyway. And this way he taught done look bad. No, it doesn't look bad and it is an improvement, but you know that Michael on doing that as a framer. I think he, I think he should do it for your wedding, but I'm a free bird free birds have long hair. No free Burs have a free skull free of hair. Now, if you could fit, that would be fun. Well, you're salesman you don't think you can get that sold for your wed care. What his hair looks like. Because it's going to be getting in the dip and all that stuff. The dip we have. Did I hope you have dip have dip, no debt. I mean, I can't imagine we have dip. I need to find out. I don't know that we have Dev. I, I hope it don't have dip. You liked it. What are we? What are you doing right now? Have you taken your medicine today? Maybe until you maybe you should check into that RIC flair is a guest on carlito's Cabana on August twenty seventh. And you know what's going to happen here. Carlito's spits the apple on flair of course, flare Bates them up and then on these September, fifth, raw flair coz confront Carlita during the Cabana, and they start to fight as soon as he hits the ring. At one point, Rick puts on the testicular claw chat me about the test to either claw. Well, he did. He didn't anyway. I mean, that was the Rick flirty player in the game man. And so it's testicular claw very much like the iron call ever to the testicular region of body in the crotch area. What's the thinking and putting flare with, oh, just playing off the history has with his dad. Yeah, first of all that, yes, because flared been over there, but it was also somebody that I think that they had good chemistry. They really, they liked each other. I know flare like Carly and vice versa. And that's just not the chemistry really work. There was somebody that I thought could make Carly shine. Well, it happens unforgiven so timber eighteenth, Oklahoma City Rick flair becomes the intercontinental champion for the first time. You're, you're an aficionado Conrad. Tell me. Do you know the finish of that match? Not our call. Tell me how many times RIC flair has gone to the top bro and come off with what he ledge Lii was intended to go up to that. I mean, it's a staple spot. I mean, shivani even jokes about it that. Well, you'd have to listen to that show to get the reference. We'll move on anyway. The we'll hear Rick actually hit the move and one the got, no title. Yeah. The only time is career not the only time in her only time ever. When was there another? Well, how about star Cade where beat Harley for the Bill? That's what he did it with. Buying in the last match against Shawn, hit there. We did win. I don't know why he never came off the top well, but he didn't hit it in win. I mean, it's just fun that you're looking for something to hang your hat on, but either way. Coming. They did. I'm arguing that and didn't get and didn't get Bobby slammed off didn't so there. The next night on raw, Rick again would be Carly to retain the intercontinental title. And then eventually they just pivot to something a little different. We see tables matches start to go down and like September twenty six Carlito and masters are going to be seen in Michaels in a tables match week after that flair and triple h beating Carlito and masters. And then after that match is winter plates. Turn on Rick, Rick. Continue to work with Carlito on the house shows through October. This is a pretty interesting pairing here. Carlito in RIC flair chap me up about who liked that idea. Who liked the idea of flair and Carlito now who liked the Pepco biz mall on Thursday morning. Well, that depends. They worked together. I mean, it just there was that there was a good chemistry was young and old. You know it was that it was that old lie and that maybe it was time for him to go out into the jungle and inch. Just go away in the young Cup coming up the figures he can kick his ass and take his place. So it was a very easy traditional story to tell. Plus I just thought they mesh really well together, had good matches in in people could relate. People could relate to the old timer, Rick, and they could relate to the young punk kid. One knocking off the pedestal. I can't believe that what an interesting time this year is when you've got. Him working with flair and earlier in the year, he's interrupting Austin and piper. And in later he's going to have a beat the clock match against Victoria. Yeah. It's a banner year. Let's just fascinating to me that we're working with Victoria. I guess I should mention he did work survivor series. He's on the raw team teaming with Shawn Michaels, big, show Kane, and Chris masters against the smackdown team Batista JBL Lashley Orden and mysterious curly though doesn't eliminate anyone in his eliminated himself by JBL. But man, I don't know why, but that tickles me that he was in a beat the clock by against Victoria. He did beat Victoria, so good for him. Let's get. Beat Victoria and the clock he did. He did. Let's get to the elimination chamber which goes down in Albany, New York, January two thousand six. And this is the first time that Carlito was involved in a pay per view world title match like this, and there's a big showing he eliminate Shawn, Michaels Kane, and Chris masters. He winds up losing to the champion John CENA. So even though you know it's been an interesting year to say the least quite a little big match debut here for Mr. Carlito. Yeah, it was it. And again, he was look, I think the Carly coming in. We looked at Carly as top guide coming in and and he was somebody that bring men put him on top by God. They're going to be as the top guy, and that is how we tried to book karleena. That was all the the angles we put him into. It wasn't someone from developmental that we need to find a place for see where they're comfortable, see where they fit. I think that you can plug Carlito into damn near any position on the Carney would've fit. I guess I should mention here to the dudes like twenty six years old when he's doing all this and this and that crazy. Like right now we're talking about Carlito as if he some damn all-timer. But right now he's thirty nine years old. And you could still go, oh, there's no doubt about it. I'm just saying, you know, we always use him as a frame of reference. J. styles is forty one. You know, we're talking about Carlita like this is the twilight of his career, and these are the good old days. He's younger than the champ that runs the camp. This is interesting to me time is a funny thing. Why the big showing here? What are the plans here? You know, you've got running through guys. He's eliminating Shawn, Michaels Kane, and Chris masters now like a footnote, but at the time was a big deal. He's one, you know, big wins with on both shows. He's got title wins on both shows. Where's Vince feeling like the upside is here at this point? Is he starting to think maybe Carlito could be the world champ he could be a wrestlemainia main of inner. I don't know that there was really ever any serious talked about Carly being the WWE champ. However, you know that intercontinental championship that US championship in that role was a good one for him, but Carly was one of those guys that you could always build up to get that top guy over to get that top baby face over. We still hadn't seen, which was always my contention. I believe that if we switch Carly, maybe face and let Carly have baby face run that I think that he might have had a shot at doing that is a heel. No, but I always say, man, you know, and Eddie Guerrero was always very comparison. But same time I'm it's, it's not the only one just build it. That Carly is a baby face given that run and with that fire, let him be that old school. Ricky Morton fiery baby face us on Puerto Rico, rigidly. I think that. There was no end is to the is what we done with him. But we, he l- he liked being a heel. Vince liked him sale. Coming off of this elimination, chamber pay per view is working house shows against Kane and Shawn Michaels as fast forward to the Royal rumble. He works with Mr Chris masters to go ahead and eliminate viscera, and then he dumps masters out ultimately Hayes, eliminated by Robin damn. But then after this he finds himself putting a tag team situation with Chris masters. I gotta ask various when we're running through this, it does feel like whenever he starts to get a little bit of momentum as a singles, you guys randomly seemingly out of nowhere, put him in a tag team situation. Well, somebody in the back, not high on his work or somebody not sold chat me up on why the stop and star singles runs here could tell you why they put it with masters was because they had high hopes for masters invents really like masters and thought that Carlito working with Carly. Joe night in and night out would help masters. So that was the reason for that pairing and thence would always it could be a curse if you're too good and you're really good at getting other talent over then that's what you're gonna do. You're going to be the guy that goes out there and has the great match gets everybody else odor Carlito will somebody that could make anybody look good. They had high hopes for Chris masters wanted to utilize that tool Carlito to teach him and teach him how to get over. I sort of trying to find an identity here between Royal rumble in wrestlemainia on February twenty seventh, he loses the money in the Bank qualifying match to RIC flair let's fast forward wrestlemainia the world tag team titles are online Kane and big show are going to defeat Carlito and Chris masters and after the mass they have a confrontation teasing break up. And then the next night on raw Carlito actually attacks masters. So I guess this is more of what you're talking about. Let's put them together and let them sort of iron sharpens iron. I suppose they start working the house shows after this and her leaders usually picking up the winds in the process. They do have a singles match at backlash on April. Thirtieth Carlito gets the win, and then he starts working against Lance cage. Shelton Benjamin and Chris masters throughout the house show loops, and the month of may and he's back on heat by the end of may getting a win over rob Conway. It starts to feel like he's Flanders here a little bit to me. You know a year prior, we're in a big featured spot one year later. Wrestlemainia we're in a world tag team title match, but then. It starts to fizzle a little bit. What's going on behind the scenes. Well, I don't know. There's necessarily anything going on behind the scenes. I just think that in front of the camera, people began to lose a little bit of interest, and I don't think that it all. It's all relative because if you're going to turn somebody, he'll end or baby face the person you're turning him heel. Baby face has an awful lot to do that question. So if you're turning on top guy, vice versa than is the top programme. Chris masters was nowhere near the position for people to care a whole lot that that they had broken up. They hadn't got to the point where people really cared about that tag team yet. So for Carly to turn baby face, it was. Done with a bigger star, think it would have been been a bigger deal, but it just was kind of a is Pat Patterson with Inya vengeance, June twenty. Fifth, there's an AUSSIE triple threat. Nitro would be here continental championship and Benjamin and Carlito to win the title. Let's get to Saturday nights event July fifteenth. We see Carlito teaming with Trish Stratus here to take on nitro and Melina, and then curly in Trish start an onscreen romance. It's really the first time you've had Carlito in this type of story line while was Trish the right person. While was this the right time because during this time is when it was revealed that like Carly, when Carly would get to town and tar Harley would get into downs, guys, go workout Harley would go shopping a lot of times with the females on the car, and he. He liked to go and hang out with girls thought, well, they all loved him. They all thought he was so nice because he even hang out with hang out with them and without man's got yet chemistry. I mean he just like if you ever met Carley. No. Okay. When you meet him, you realize that it's this really easy goal and smooth heat is Carlito cool, man, and it was you would watch the girls like bring him food go and like prepare plate foreign or something. Oh, you gotta try this catering and he just had this charm about him so thought, well, shit. Let's let's get that on air in the idea came up with Trish and let's try it. They had chemistry the, they worked well together. It was believable and dried on, tried on air. See if that can. Make them love even more. Finds himself getting a win of a rob Conway and a dark mass at summer slam, and then he's working a lot with with Trish and tags and things like that, including September fourth Ed leader and Randy Orton win over Carlito Trish and sina in carlito's starts brief feud with Randy Orton after Orden attempts to attack Trish backstage. And that leads to unforgiven on September seventeenth. Ordinate gets a win over Carlito and this onscreen romance with Trish is going to end of course because she retires at unforgiven and carlito's starts to flounder again, at least in my opinion, if odds himself working with Orton nitro Maga rob Conway, and he loses on TV on October second this time to Randy Orton, but he's a baby face through this whole process. Is it wrong to think that at least in the WWE Sada things. Carlita was a better. He'll to me, you disagree with that. No, I don't, but I also think that he could have been a better baby face if he were if he programmed in top top deal. I think that if. The roles were kind of reverse. And I don't mean baby face he'll roles, but if the idea with the Orden storyline had been to get Carly over that, that would have been the right shining 's started really get him over as baby face with the strong. He'll like Oregon. Fortunately with that issue, it was all about get Rancho, which I'm fine with that too. But it just he became a victim of circumstance law places and just time. Cyber Sunday is a big show on a vendor. Fifth intercontinental titles online, Jeff hardy is going to be defending it and the fan voting leads to Carlito being the opponent for Jeff hardy set the record straight. We've talked about these few times very briefly, the cyber Sunday cyber Monday, cyber Tuesday, all your different cyber pay per views. Chat me up was the voting legit. One hundred percent. So when the fans vote for Carlito, does that change the opinion of the office at all? Like do they see the way the ends vote and say, well, shit there behind this guy. Maybe we should do something with him? Yes. Well, it does and it at the same time, it's well. What else was I gonna do go, will we stacked it formed ago? You know one way, but there were a few times where those. Votes were eye openers. We scratched our head gone shit. That's interesting. This ladies man gimmick continues for Carlito. He's involved in another storyline relationship this time with Tori Wilson. Let's fast forward to the Royal rumble goes down January twenty eighth and San Antonio, Texas Carlito comes in at number twenty seven. He doesn't eliminate anyone, but he has eliminated himself by great collie and the next night on raw. He's teaming super crazy against Chris masters and Dykstra, and he's losing all the house show matches. He could handle Randy Orton through February. And then on the fifth v, we see Carlito and crime. Tom lose two masters in the world's greatest tag team. The later in the show, we see a promo that people still talk about to this day Carlito and Tori walking backstage in Walt pass RIC flair and flair cuts one of the best promos of the year in the hallway and there's probably a good story behind this promo because whenever you see a primer like this, that every. Nobody's talking about the behind the scenes. Sometimes it's just as h sting what we all enjoyed on camera. What are you remember about this promo that people are still talking about. Well, it was getting to be the general consensus of a lot of people that Carly was just floating and the car didn't care that he was gonna put his time in. He was going to go out and have his match, and then he just wanted to go onto the next town onto the next thing and really didn't did give shit. That was that was the true perception in general feeling about carbon and as much as people that knew him. But we talked to them and try to get him out of that funk. It was. There was a lot of truth to that, man. He he didn't give us yet. He was like, hey, man, you know, if you guys aren't gonna put me in there. Why should I work as hard as I do? And. It became a self-fulfilling prophecy so that the idea became he worked well with flair light-flare and Vinci's this Vinson's deal man. He was like, half flirt CUDA shoot from along. Telling him about, you know, you're lazy, you're not doing anything you're out here. You don't give shit. You should give shit if you if you truly don't give a shit get out and to light a fire unders ass and to get to get him to care into get him to care onscreen where people felt that all of the now he's got something because I think it was translated into the audience that. A man, you should. They should go through the motions. So I actually produced the pro and Rick didn't wanna do it. Rick felt that it was that it was demeaning to Carlito and he felt that I felt it was true. But he didn't want to be the one half say. Any thought that it was that it was too stiff. It was too inside and that it would put Rick in a bad place. I said, well, hopefully it will put Carlito an place that he'll wanna fight. I position and indoor. You know. He'll continue to have people be on the way that they've Ewing. Rick man got Rick fired up and Rick flair cut a promo on his life. And I think that Carly took heart. You really do think that. He understood and recognized this as a message this being sent. And he proceeded accordingly. I think for a while he did, yeah. Do I do. I think that he, he knew very clearly what the message was then stole them ahead of time. I told him ahead at a time. I don't think he knew how strong that was going to be from Rick, but he knew this was a message in and he knew this was his opportunity step up or step out. Well, the next week, these guys wound up wrestling each other. And then before you know what they're Rick wins the match by the way they start to form a tag team seemingly out of nowhere the following week, they get a win over Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch. And then in March, they wind up in a money in the Bank qualifying match against each other. I go no contest and the next week they had Randy Orton to the mix and Randy Orton wins. What's the real life relationship like with Rick and Carlito after this promo, everybody on good terms house that they were in Carlito new that Rick was asked to do that need. I think as far as Carlito new and INA, Sumed that all that was written verbatim for wreck when it was really a lot of that stuff was was from Rex heart and Rick. Have the idea the we had given him what to say going out and do it like RIC flair would do it, you know, view agree with this. Yeah, he goes, I do. I just don't want to be the guy to to to say to him and. They had? Yeah, they had a good relationship, Carly understood and they respected each other and it was it goes back to everything with red work, and I add for all those years known, Carly since he was a kid. So chat me up here. Wrestlemanias Twenty-three in Detroit. There's a dark match, Rick and Carlito or in the dark match on wrestlemainia the pick up a win over Chabot and Gregory Helms, but allegedly Carlino expresses his disatisfaction with WW management in an interview for not having plans to book him to appear at the pay per view, and then criticizes their methods for selecting performance to push and references backstage politics. Do you remember him sorta speaking up in the media about this? And is there any sort of backlash or murmurs behind the scenes about him choosing the do so. I remember him being disgruntled there. There's a good word. I remember Carly being unhappy because he wasn't being used think that every time that he would get a start, some thing would happen some, whether it was an injury, rather was a false start. Somebody else we, you know the direction with change what, whatever it was. Carly felt that he wasn't being used and he always had that lower of one go back to the island, go back to the island, be the top guy on the island worked for his father's promotion, and I have to worry about any of this shit. So people people knew that. And I think that they kind of. I wanna say, held it against him, but used it to fuck it. He'll just go back to the island. The truth matter was is that he had moved to Houston and you know he, he had committed. He really had committed to to doing this, but he just was unhappy and he was unhappy and how he was being used was unhappy being on the road as much as he was. And I guess speaking mine, I remember hearing rumblings about him doing a couple of interviews and things like that. But I, I don't remember specifics from it, but it was the overall feeling because he would talk to me and I talked to him because I, I like Carly. And he just was frustrated. Frustration is the best word. Well, these guys are going to keep working together Rick and Carlito this time tags, they're going to trade some wins with world greatest tag team on raw, and then eventually they wind up working against each other in the middle of a match against the world's greatest tag team on the April. Thirtieth raw. We see flare turn around into a left hand from Carlito, and these guys are back at it fast forward to may twentieth and Saint Louis at judgment day Rick would be Carlito there, and it is sort of interesting that Carlitos not getting a win either at the pay per view or the next night on raw against RIC flair this a message for management about him being vocal or. Chat me up here does feel a little weird that the the elder statesmen the quote unquote old man continues to beat the young, upstart. Vince felt that that was what the message was. You know what I'm saying? What what I mean by that is is that the all time was right in your head isn't in the game, and I'm gonna continue beat your ass. And I think that some people felt the Carly still wasn't was jumping out. In doing everything he could to be that to be that bigger stars. Okay. This'll be a great vehicle for flair and frankly is a, he'll never hurt you to lose. Never hurt. She loses baby face if you do it right. Thankfully, he gets a win on June fourth over Tory Wilson, I know because he had the experience against toria and be fought back. Oh my gosh. He's working with Sebok in Palumbo on a lot of the house shows. He's not victorious in those efforts. He's working another dark match on the paper view for vengeance on June twenty fourth, this time he loses to super crazy. He's on Friday night smackdown to Rick flair many even does a shot for Lovie w at the six flags super summer sizzler or idol Stevens beats him on the house. Show loop. Cody Rhodes young Cody Rhodes is getting the win. It's just interesting that you know, we see so much of the same pattern here. Let's talk about the WWE thirty. Fourth anniversary show to LA thirteenth. We made the reference earlier that these razor Ramon promos from way back in the day where eerily similar to the way carlito's vignettes where we'll have on July thirteenth. They have Carlito get a win over razor Ramon. On, which I think is kind of fun after that, though. Man, it's back to work in the loops, let Jim Doug and beat him the San man, bathe him. It's just. It's very, very similar. Dhillon. Thirtieth Carlito wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait, wait, and you leave out the biggest part where in a cane on a pole match Carlito beat San may. Is on gimmick man. Okay. I guess I should mention on July twenty. Second of the great American bash he finally gets a paper of you match, but he wins. He beat sad man on a Singapore cane on a pole match. Vince Russo was nowhere in sight. Why did you guys decide to start putting shit on bowls again, or elder, you suppose put a single poor king? Well, usually they're under the ring. I don't know why, but there's like thirty of the ring for no parents and. Say that those those candlesticks, these Singapore cane. Got you. Difference MAG candlesticks come from China, Singapore canes come from ongo. Singapore and Hong Kong thought those were different things. They are. Okay, so okay, I'm confused. Let's move on. July thirtieth Carlito would be t- WWE champion. John CENA after Orden would distract CENA and allow Carlito to hit him with the backstabber and get a clean pan, believe it or not. And he's even involved in a battle Royal to crown. The new GM of rawal. Ultimately, William regal gets the nod their, he's finds himself back and featured spot though inciting nights main event in August, thirteenth, John seen beats in there. And then after that, he's working with your Maga a lot on the house shows and that leads to a no de Humana against triple h and unforgiven two thousand seven. So while the does feel like it's stop and start for a bit of a seven, as we start to wind the year down, he starts to get into more featured spot. How did the tone and tenor of the way the the, the brass felt about Carlito change from, say, wrestlemainia time to here we are in September. Longtime that has do injuries, and just I want flavor of the month because that's not accurate, but it just was utilize what you have at the time who's healthy and what can we do at the time. And so much of it is it is also timing. So. The landscape dictates it, you know, guys are injured guys, nursing nursing stuff. We'll gotta pull people up from the bullpen and you've got to do something with guys that are healthy and ready to go. That time to me, I always looked Carly is one of those guys could plug in anywhere anytime. And it was found plug him in. So timber twenty four. There's a two on one handicap. Steel cage match on raw Carlito is going to be teeming with Mr McMahon to take on triple h considering that you know, this is the boss. What does I mean Carlito here in this match? Does feel a little bit like which one of these is not like the other? What advance think of working with Carlito here. It's like, Carlito I'm, this was a big fan of his going all the way back. He loved the gimmick. It was one of his gimmicks that he helped come up with a whole, you know, car leap, the cool mate. You're not cool in the spin, the Appleseed love beginning and he liked Carlito being second generation wrestler. So it was somebody overall that he really liked the enjoyed working with them. October twenty. Second, we would say d. h. Smith beat Carlito and this is Smith's first match on raw waas Carlito chosen to be the quote, unquote sacrificial lamb here to make sure that Harry had a damn good match. And we knew the car leader would be able to get him out there and get him through hell of a match on November nineteenth. There's a no Dehu Hugh match where horn swaddled would beat Carlita with the help of Finley. Yeah. Just just running through the results man making comment or just be quiet. To hell of match way killer would report Carlito has given notice to WVU which would explain why he job to electric on all this week here under rep WWE for being lazy and uncoached -able fair, not the rip stuck that he didn't show the type of fire that those in power looked forward, giving out opportunities for high level pushes, let the TNA rumors begin. What do you remember about him giving a notice and was him losing horns, Ouaga, punishment, forgiving notice how does that whole process of him? Does it call? Does he sit down at TV chime in. I believe you talked to believe you talk to John invents John Laura Niners high could which by the way he coot was Janis answered everything whenever we would say, hey, can we get the sewn? So here for this TV and do this, we could. Okay. But here Carlito was Carlito was beat up. He was tired and and felt one being used. So he wanted out. It talked to Johnny and he talked to bents and you know Vincent as I don't wanna happy people around me. Okay. We'll work something out. And colleague just wanted to go. Carly wanted to to take some time off on necessarily go back to the island's, just take some time off and there's always that lower of the independence that whenever somebody leaves fresh, I'm gotta making all this money on the independence. I think Cardi was tired. Vince talked him into staying, how does he pitch it? Daman pal. You've got your whole future here. Get yours. We can do a whole God damn angle with you. Swap will be great Ireland with it. Like you could walk in the old story is man. You can walk into to a meeting with this with every reason in the world. Have it rehearsed nine ways from Sunday, and you can walk out of the meeting in the exact same position you walked in, but feeling so good about yourself and like you really accomplished something big about three hours later, you'll be sitting there stupor going. I just did nothing and being the same position, but he'll make you feel good about it for while. Good job. Oh, God. We love year. Well, let's talk a little bit about, you know what winds up happening on December third horn. Swaddled beats Carlito Jonathan Coachman because swaddled reveals to Lillian are of he's called in some protection APA comedown clear house any and they lose the the tribute to the troops is December. Seventh, Jeff hardy gets a win there. The fifteen year anniversary show of raw as an intercontinental title match. Jeff hardy gets a win over Carlito there as well to finish up. Seven is working house shows against MVP MVP's winning all those because he's the US champion. And then we fast forward to January seventh, where we have a trading spaces match where Carlito had to dress hardcore Holly and hardcore Holly had address as Carlito and even come out to each other's intro. Music chat me up here hardcore Holly in Carlito wig. Yeah. Well, sometimes. You a lot of dope and come up with really bad. Is this what the, hey, this wasn't even during dope smoking period. This is just one of those bad ideas that you pinch. And then all of a sudden you're watching on Monday night and it's on the air. What if. I love it. Well, well, wait a minute. Now we're talking about diva evening, GAM match in, wouldn't it be great, a Pat book. I love it patent. Jerry tried Queen match home. That's how shit happens. It's just happens this way. Alabama, slam January twenty. Seventh, two thousand eight. The Royal rumble MSG karleena comes in number twenty. One doesn't eliminate anyone is eliminated himself by the returning John CENA and the next night on raw Carlito be Cody Rhodes in February. He is teaming with Santino Morella a lot, and they're challenging Cody hardcore Holly for the tag titles on a lot of how shows but they always lose. This is like two guys. You don't have anything really four. So let's just put them together and he's done that a lot. Sometimes it works out, you know, you look at the b. team on raw. Now once upon a time, those guys weren't doing much of anything individually, put them together and now they've, they've got a purpose that the thinking here and putting Santino with Carlito hopefully that you've got a personal tag team that people are least going to at least going to know on the card. And it's not like it's just too. Jones and hopefully out of it. You're gonna have something when it's time to break them up and time to move on with your separate ways. Hopefully the tag-team experiences going to give them a little more personality when it's time for them to be saying, learn new hope. March third is the money in the Bank qualifying match. Carlito would beat Cody Rhodes and that one. And that takes us to wrestlemainia twenty four where there is a money in the Bank ladder match with Chris Jericho. John Morrison, VP Mr. Kennedy, she'll Benjamin and of course see punk who wins the match on April fourteenth Carlito and Santino become the number one contenders for the tag titles by beating Brian Kendrick and Paul, London, I guess this is starting to click. I mean, they're moving up the ladder a little bit, but they are unsuccessful in their quest for the world title and the rose. The other day to to made during this time for like the tag teams and stuff. We had Kendrick and Paul London tactique champions and doing things with them with some of the best tag stuff that we had in a long time during this time. So. To me. I think that the the Carlito in Santino Morella tag is little bit underrated because during this time, some of that shit was the tag matches. Were the best of anything on the card. No hard argue. I can't argue that at all. They work again on a dark mass before the judgement day. Piper view roads and Holly retain. Of course, let's fast forward to the two thousand eight supplemental draft which happens on June twenty. Third Carlito goes to smackdown what the twenty six th pick. And also that same night, Finley and horns Fogle would be Carlito and Santino. That's real. After bouncing back to smackdown it does start to feel like he's unhappy. Meltzer would report Carlito was once again, unhappy with me and his lack of push, particularly after he and Maria lost a crime time on June ninth show. It seemed to lock that they were going to get the tag titles, but it never materialized. Even though they put some of the best entering chemistry of any team in the company out there when the decision was made to put the tag title on DVR in a mystery partner, he was upset although it goes back more than a year. It gave notice at the end of the year, but Vince talked him in the staying and sold him on the fact that he would get a bigger push on that push never happened. He got upset. Creative team has given him conflicting stories about his long-term future, and he was syncing that Brian Gorz wasn't looking at pushing him more with ratings falling Brian, apparently pressured to devote more time on the show to FaceTime with the money players. And France had apparently suggested Carlito try and make a move to get easy w where he'd be a headliner or smack noun because there's less depth and they have a huge Hispanic television audience that they try to market towards the positive of w would he would be champion level and with his mindset towards the business, he'd probably be happy as one of the main guys on the brand. The negative is with w still plan to move to Monday. The competition for spots on the house shows is going to be fierce on the smackdown side without the w guys touring with him. He wouldn't have to worry about limited shows. Chat me up here. Bruce fills like we're, we're winding down carlito's run here and there's lots of should he shouldn't he if you were Carlito, where would you have rather been on rawal where you feel like the Ryder? The head writer doesn't have time for you on smackdown where maybe there's a bigger opportunity to market to the Latino audience. Maybe I'll get a bigger push or when I rather be a big fish. In a smaller pond in w if you were Carlito, where would you wanna be wanna be smackdown. Why would wanted to be in smackdown because it was it was a taped show the top I'm and there was a lot more opportunity to do other things at think that his style with guys that they had on smackdown at the time that it fit their better as well. So from all of those. Those three choices buzz. Molly, three choices for me would have been smackdown. This is worth mentioning MRs directly from the observer. He went to South America over the weekend to promote the July tours. And one of the few who speaks fluent Spanish while in Chile he was asked about triple h being married to Stephanie, and he said that in his opinion, it was a smart move by triple h because now that's why he's the champion. And he has been in the past and the rest of the wrestlers don't have that benefit and have to deliver to get title while he gets at handed to him on a silver platter. He says it's harder being Latin. Any notes that triple h never comes to places like Chile Paraguay to do promotional work. He'll be back in the doghouse for sure, because even though a large percentage of the roster privately says this and probably most have strong feelings on it. It's one of those subjects. Almost everyone is smart enough to never talk about publicly chat me up here when he goes on this promotional tour and just shits. All over triple h and in in in roundabout way or maybe not. So around about the McMahon family. Does that get back to the office. Sure. And it was, you know, it was more than anything looked at is out of wants to cry for hell. But you know the, I don't. You know, I'm unhappy. I don't wanna be here. I want my release. I wanna go. And if I have to do this to get out of it and I'll do this to get out of it and that's how it was that he was unhappy and just spouting off to get his release and move on. Chat me up here because it does feel interesting that. He's got this Puerto Rican option that we've talked about a lot WBC. But at this time TNA is still kind of thing. It's not nearly competition for WWE, but they're still concern on both sides of this guy can't go there and this guy can't go here. Whatever. Is there a conversation about what if Carlito were to go to TNA or at this point? Does anybody gives shit? No, nobody gave me shit at that point that at all it was, you know, I it was during a time mccaddon gone there yet had he? No mic what? Mick win little bit later, but it wasn't ten, a really wasn't something that we were worried about. You guys let him work show here and WBZ against Reagan's. Last Ray gets the win here. Let's July nineteenth. Prior to that he was still working. How shows for you guys doing jobs to Jim Duggan and Finley, and when he comes back to to be after the WWE shot, he's working Ricky or TS big, show our truth and Shelton Benjamin. And he makes the news again on the observer on the eighteenth Curley does long-term with the companies. Once again, topic being talked about, he hasn't been on TV since the draft and he has a new look with goatee and dreads. I saw him on television news report from Los Angeles where he did the beat show at Venice beach on August ninth. And I thought they were talking to a fan because he looked so different. But it's also because he looked like a front row fan more than a wrestler change in look, isn't to his benefit at all. He's again talk to friends about a release and he can do what he wants and Puerto Rico and be the top single star working against Reagan Zola's. But the downside is business. There is now dead and it's Downer to go from working before thousands to a few hundred and the last time he was about to quit. He talked with AAA about being a full tomor where he could be the top heel and he'd do well in the US Indies as well as in w e, but we're not sure about his actual contract wind expires, which would bring the TNA question. He has. Supporters TNA since Dutchman Taylor's worked with him and TNA does have a goal of trying to expand their Hispanic audience. But if he goes to and I, he really needs to change his look when a guy who is unhappy like this changes his look so drastically. How does the office look at that again that you didn't really mean it when he said, if that way been this? Is this another quote, unquote, Crawford help? Well, we knew that he was changing his look and he asked changes look, and it wasn't that drastic, I guess, Strasse today with someone grow some facial hair, but it really wasn't that drastic of a look and departure appearance so, but at the same time and it just everybody had their eyes on Carly and no matter what he did. People looked at it as being rebellious and looked at it is one more thing for him to want to get out and really and truly probably was. So believe it or not. In spite of all this, you guys decide to put him with Primo tell everybody who premiss Primo is his brother and looked at, you know, maybe he would be happier if he was working with family on them coming in and making them Metag team and being able to to do more with them, and it's a way that is going to keep Carlos and another way introduced Primo get those kids Sparta, the mix. So there you go, premium comes in and now they're the colognes or as it reads, the colons. He's got his old lookback. He tried the corn rows at the house shows, but now the afros back and he's back on TV and believe it or not. They beat curt Hawkins, Zach writer for the world tag team titles on smackdown timber, twenty first, and they continue these matches through the month of October, and then start to work with Morrison and Miz for the house show title by Che's. At this point, the think that you've got karleena sorta satisfied or what's the take. He was a little bit happier. I think that you know he was happy working with his brother, but at the same time, I don't know that it was something that he really had his heart instill. I guess we should talk about the fact that you're gone not too long after this, but Carlito would stick around until may twenty. First two thousand ten Meltzer would write this of his release Carlito who is Carlos Cologne, junior thirty. Two years old was released on may twenty first. He had not failed a drug test, but our odds in Toronto on may seventeenth in no condition to perform. He was into nihil. There was any kind of issue, and he was ordered to go to rehab and still refused by the end of the week and therefore was fired. He'd asked for his release so many times over the past years, and he hadn't been happy for the most part. Whenever he would ask for his release, he was, he would be told they were going to do something with and it never materialized and got in the doghouse before the two thousand seven wrestlemainia when his scheduled match with RIC flair was taken off the show and he went to South America and was vocal more about flair being taken off the show that himself, but either way way up in the doghouse. The funny thing is he and his brother Primo we're about to get a push a heel tag team and one time the talks for them to be affiliated with Diaz e. But the last word before is being fired was they were going to do their own feud with the Hart dynasty, and that role was given to the use os and to me no debut on all this week, Carlos Cologne and doing damage control for the family and a newspaper in Puerto Rico said that his son was suspended for usage of painkillers, trying to make it clear. He was not fired for recreational drugs or performance. Enhancing drugs claimed his son started to use drugs to combat pain, but his problem worsened any needs help. Chat me up here. What did you think when he heard? And obviously you weren't there that Carlito is finally gone. Well, I think that it was that combination of finally, you know, when you find here or getting out of it. And when I heard that, I just thought that maybe that was his, I wanna say it was a cry for help, but that was his wave of getting out. Like I said, I wasn't there, so I don't know. I don't know anything about the incident Toronto. So I really can't comment on that because Cardi was always professional around the and everything and all my dealings with him for all those years. But it same time I, I can see happening man, and I think that he just had reached a point where he didn't wanna do it anymore, and I'm done and he check that box and was out in eat already checked out. That's my take. There was a line in the right up that Meltzer wrote when he was released that really stood out to me. He sign with WW in June two thousand three. And was there almost sixteen months? Even though he was an experienced big show headliner he didn't get over in Lovie w how much of that now at the time he thought it was because Jim cornet didn't like him and you sort of even a spouse that you know cornet wasn't high on him. How much of that was really just a precursor for what the main roster would be, because. He never really had a sustained push and Lovie w or in the WB there was lots of starts and stops. Was it was it Carlito was politics was a creative? Where would you hang your hat? I would say I would say it was a combination of Carlito and timing and just being able, you know, the right place right time him not getting over in in OB, w Sam pump didn't get over and over w the same argument could be made about him and he got over. I would say pretty damn good WWE. So I just think it was timing more than anything. Meltzer would also right, but the company largely gave up on him. It was a two way street. He got the rep for coasting, and he responded by coasting even more and wanting out the company tag on him. Was he the verbal ability to be a superstar in good enough skills to at least hang near the top, but was lazy and couldn't be motivated his two, two thousand seven feud with RIC flair started with flair cutting what was meant as a shoot promo ripping on him for having the talent, but not the hunger. It is an interesting story. Is there anybody else you can think of and WB history who has a story like Carlita where everybody says he checks all the boxes, but for whatever reason. He just doesn't want it or doesn't want it on our terms. That may be a better way of saying it because I don't think that anybody I don't think anybody thinks that Carleen, oh, wanted to waste time. Didn't wanna be a star on just don't think he wanted to do it the WWE's way that fair to say. That's probably the best way to put it because Carlito in Puerto Rico, and the guy that I saw early on in his career, this unbelievable worker with his unbelievable charisma that could do it all in my opinion could hang with absolutely anybody and be a top guy. So when he when he got there in just was like island time, maybe is the best way when you when you go, they -cation and you're in the Caribbean, and people say, okay, hey lunches in twelve o'clock in three thirty. They bring the food out, you're on island time, man, it's it's just different that may. That's one way to look at it Carlita definitely had all the tools you had the charisma he had yet to Carlito has it, but I think that he was happy. He was happy with what he had and. I guess he may be just didn't feel like he needed to do any anything else in all that much more. So that combined with time create about really being able to come up with a whole lot for him and feeling that when was time to play ball, he wasn't up to snuff just comes down to timing, maybe an overall attitude more than anything, but Carly would would have been one of those guys that I would have picked and would on my roster and Harvey without even thinking twice about it. Were you surprised when the WWE Royan ended or how it ended. I was surprised how it ended. I wasn't surprised that it ended because I knew the new when I left that Carlita was was miserable and wanted out, and he was he wasn't happy being on the road and he was just miserable. And he really wanted. You could see Carlito to me as one of those guys you could have given a year off, and I think he would come back recharged and been a different guy, but I don't know they that was even considered and and he just wanted Allie wanted away. He just wanted no constrictions on his life for his time. Do you think you'll be brought back for another run? I mean, he certainly young enough. He's got, Tom is an Amana of his won't to or WWE's won't too. I think it's more matter his want to really do. I think Carlito went back and say, hey, guys, you know, wanna come back. I wanna come back and do to your Ron that they would take it back in the find something to do for him. But I think that's carlito's choice right now really do because he's he is one of those unique talents that I believe. I believe there's money any with him. How would you rate is WWE career. I'd give it about seven. But it should have been. It should have been a nine hundred ten. If you could see, again, I kept going by keep going back to this one match with Kurt angle Kurt angle with Kurt headache that that was the one that I kept showing everybody you kept pointing to. But there were there were so many more to in Puerto Rico that motherfucker walk star top, like a star. He was larger than life. But when he got out, I don't know if it was him second guessing himself or him just not feeling comfortable, but it wasn't the same guy. That originally saw. Well, hopefully we're not doing seeing Carlito and hopefully this is not the end of his story and we hope that he goes on to do a lot more fun stuff that we can enjoy. I mean, he certainly still in the business and active in the business, but just not on WW TV but you can go ahead and bring it back right now. Episode 243 - Eleanor Kerrigan
Okay, inappropriate Earl, sound cloud and items today? I'm not gonna waste your time with any long winded. Bullshit. Introduction. We have royalty on the couch, it's not gene Simmons. Paul Stanley, it's not John Matuzek. It's not vents. The guy that did a movie, the eagle guy. Let's Malla. It's not Jerome Brown. It's not raunchy war ski. It's not do Staley. It's not blue iris. We have comedy store royalty and the house you've seen her on dice clay Showtime, show you've seen her killing it at the comedy store. You ordered drinks from her at the comedy store, fifteen or so years ago you've seen her in Vegas currently. She'll be in Vegas next week. I believe with Mike favor. Mun very controversial. Guests on inappropriate are all put your fat disgusting, greasy hands together. For the first lady of the comedy store? Well sack would might well Mitzi of course. Sean Polaski, Vicki Barbara lack. Whoa. I don't get some numbers. I, I'm trying to, you know, to flies just Lou out where they fly or they alive. Great. Eleanor Carrigan forget that for the I tunes people. Do you think the flies were dead? I just gotta ask because no, I think they were from the trip and on Thursdays crawl out like. I feel like if I went like that, they would just guess who else was it? We were talking about the Rams game. Yesterday, a lot of people went to the Rams game. It was very exciting game. But Ronnie was there my ex, how exciting could fold around in the bathroom. He was there. Now, do you guys still get along? Is nice guy. I mean, I, I get along my access because who does it really hurt if you if you hold a grudge or unless they really did something horrible. I mean, I do have one particular case where they're, you know, they're still some very, very hard feelings, but you know if somebody smashes the shit out of your heart or like, you know, fucks your sister or are we allowed to curse on this? Oh, yeah. This is the real deal. This is not. This is this is not just because I love it. I love it for those of you who aren't on my Instagram, live feed eleanor's students, severe calisthenics. I didn't know you were flexible. She just did the stairs and Santa Monica, wrestler, Earl, we're going to get into that. You know, I lose remember the night. Your fucking friend almost tore my ACL. Can you explain to the crowd you're in the crowd you had performed just performed. But Earl before that we were doing a day all came to see me in Long Beach at the laugh factory. So we've been out drinking and I think they even had rehearsal for. A wrestling event that was coming up. So they were why they were like, booboo, you know, they were all hyped up and then they're drinking and we went from Long Beach to all. No, I know what it was. They saw me open for dice so they were wasted. Where did you open for? Does on beach, wasn't the laugh factor? I'm sorry, it was another place and I can't think of the name of it, but we drove back together. Some of them came in my car. Some of them took an Uber, so then I went on late night at the store. You went on after me. Talking your shit wrestling shit. You never do that to a woman with a mullet. Why didn't know she was like a real dude. You can't look at her and say, I mean, her nickname is the real deal, Selena majors. I mean, I thought she was like a Rhody for like you write a heat. All right. That key. It's a tough call. I get it, but I'm, she's got a look arm. She had good arms. Oh, she's got a great body. Dick, you know, she's a little Tam. Farm, and I think Alabama. She had a chicken ranch, sold her chicken ranch. She looks like the type that would have a chicken. Well, she put you in a figure, four leg lock, which is RIC flair's. I mean, it's many people's finishing most primarily known for being reflected finisher and it's a move. Where on the surface your legs are. I mean you're the rest or how would you describe what the figure for it? I mean, it's a weird. Your legs are entered tangle just like all locked up in Roddy else's hold and it's a woman. So it's even better because we have like strange. So that's our strength right there. So she was holding you down and got you. And I remember you saying, hey, I have a bad ACL on one of your tortoise. She writes, I, which is she went right to it ACL it's like it's like a rubber band. So you know, if you stretch it enough, it will snap, and mine's already been snapped. So here is hockey or yeah, need any hip plane hockey where my knee literally went in like it went the other way it and it's napped. But the problem was the raiders new doctor who I went to all this is when they were in LA, went to one of their train. Oh, wow. Where he was in at this is when they were in LA and. Well, this guy sees this every day. I'll go to him and he misdiagnosed. He said, oh, yeah, man, you just just pulled a ligament, maybe a bone chip, you'll be all right, couple of weeks and then a couple of weeks. It was doing x.. Ray and everything. Yeah. No, MRI at the time. I see. I think it was so puffy that the x. Ray wasn't didn't show the full damage. So for the next ten years, I'd noisy out but didn't know it. Wow. Wow. So then about two short about two thousand five. I started getting these horrific pains on the side of my knee, and then two thousand seventeen got putting a figure four leg lock by, you know, Selena majors who based up with kick at, oh, she's killer. She's like the fabulous moolah. She worked out. Wendy, Rick. She if you really want to wrestle was all those guys flare all those. She went all over the world. You could tell that she could hold her. Totally. Yeah. And then she started working my knee. I told her not to work. Okay. You gotta fucking. And then I just remember you capping one point I was in so much pain. I was tapping my own knee thinking, oh, she's not gonna feel this 'cause he was mine knee. And then I think you came to the side of the stage, hey enough to pull her mullet back, say, hey, so she could hear me that gets clouded some, hey, Selena, you gotta get. Well, that's why I have respect for pro wrestlers even though it's I say, it's fake. It's not fake. I mean, it's scripted. It's scripted for sure, but it definitely goes off the rails, but those in that's why a lot of those guys kill themselves. Yeah, because the pain is, I mean, I didn't wrestle long enough to have nearly what Selena probably lives with or real wrestlers. I hate to not call myself a real wrestler. You are. I thank you. Thank you on pushy it, but I'm saying like they. They went everywhere. Selena, I'll never forget. We did the pay per view of it, which was sterile 'cause we didn't really have viewers. So we didn't know who is gonna pay for it. So it kinda shit the bed. But the production was so elaborate that it we were in the form in Inglewood and we had the big steel cage match, like everything was going on and Selena being coming from a school of all right, this is how you get viewers. So she gave herself a tiny cut Brayden. Yes. Has they say in the biz and I kept thinking the fuck is she doing? You know, and I go Selena, and then she goes, don't worry easy is going to be good to the peg is going to keep hitting it and it'll open up out there and she's drinking beer. And she goes, the beer helps to come out and I'm like, fuck like this is we're filming this. This is, you know, and then all of a sudden cut to it's so big 'cause Peggy hit it and opened it more and then accidentally. She hit it on the steel cage and it opened up shedding at twenty seven stitches. She was looking to gory film like, look like soon. They're going to cut her head off. Was that bad. I mean, I don't think no one watch the pay per view. We got cancelled immediately just Sino. Well, I mean, pay per views unless you're WWE. It's tough. You know, it's tough sell, who the hell did they think they were doing that? What now what got you into wrestling. Oh, it was an audition. It's truly exactly what goes on and glow where it was like she went thinking, it's just an audition and then I thought I don't. I just I grew up watching wrestling and I still didn't even get that. Oh, we're going to have to wrestle, right? Like I just talk shit. I'll do it. I do, and I went in with a baseball bat and I was like hitting things I was doing a, he'll because that's the ones I always loved growing up. So I was like, all right, don't just do this. And then I. Went into did it. My friend Cory was one of the. She wasn't a production shows PA. She was. She was working for the producer, like his assistant kind of thing. So I guess that would be a production assistant, but she she didn't work like on the set. She was just his personal assistant and then so she was there and it was at a hotel which you know it's a good audition in a hotel Ella. Yeah. And I went and I did it and it was great. The guy loved it. They laughed because I hit him nearly hit him with a baseball bat. So I was just being silly. I didn't think I get it. They gave it to me. I called my mom like mom don't get mad Kush. She's like, you're such a tomboy when he ever going to be a lady. You know, she used to tell me to wear makeup to work. So I get more tips at the comedy store who Mike, whatever lady, I'm just fucking working, but she was always trying to get me to be girly. So I called her. I go, mom, I'm gonna. Do this wrestling show. Don't get mad at me. She's like, oh my God. I'm so excited. I go, you are. She's like, yeah, they have great women characters on that show. Like, what are you talking about wrestling show. So I was mad because it was seventeen years ago on a cell phone eighteen years ago now. And I said, mama call you back when I get to house called her from a landline soon as I called her she, she was like, my sister, Karen answer. She goes yell. We're going to be on west wing. I what she told everybody sold the whole family. I was going to be talking west wing it. What was the name of the wrestling? Well, women of wrestling. So for years, we always said wrassling. So my mom knew what I was talking about. Now, this wasn't the one with that big white chick Queen Kong. No, June. I'm talking about shit. Glow. They had more character driven girls. They never train them. They re the real hot or real odd-looking or repeal look like they, it was such. They're doing a great job in the Netflix show because that's the same guy that started glow started. Well, his name's David Maclean. So he started in the eighties, but then they sold the rights years ago because they were trying to start up a new one and just had a lot of shit hanging over. So it sucks because all the success would glow on Netflix. They got nothing to do with it. Welcome to Hollywood guys. Oh, fuck and business. Nice guy to like the guy that I think I met him. Yeah, at the store he comes, he's so nice. And so he started while in ninety nine two thousand. And then I think we were on air two thousand two thousand. Yeah. We did two seasons, but it was great. They basically hired me to talk shit. I mean, I was still chain smoking. Selena, the one that put you in a figure, four leg lock was my trainer. She's the one her and Peggy Lee leather also known as thug who was my partner. They hired me because I was making them laugh and I'll shitting on everybody, but I had, no, I had no business. I had. I'm an athlete growing up, but I stopped doing it like I was twenty eight when I started wrestling. So which is old for the wrestling? Yeah, but somebody's girls I wrestled with are still wrestling like Eric porter, she's phenomenal. Her name's jungle girl. We're the same age suspicious. Unbelievable. Well, some, I'm like, you're gonna break a hip older than us. She's she's still doing it. She could be the should've. Streetfighter wrestling was hard wrestling was weird 'cause it was controlled the like I remember when I first fought Selena. She was like, I'm going to call the match on like what she's like, yeah, I'm just going to call it. So I was like, okay, and she's whispering in my ear in the form that people are screaming, easy, easy. I don't know what's happening there screaming for Selena. She goes to hit me with a chair. I was like, oh, fuck. Like I went to St.. I went to grab it and I broke my pinky. 'cause I wasn't paying attention if I would've just let her hit me properly, which people say it's fake. I would have been okay. I would have been sore, but I wanna have broken pinkie. I mean, I, I hate saying it's fake because it's it's, it's choreographed, but it's still like when you see like Rick flair and sting doing our match. I mean I- hairline fracture my collarbone from that shit. I hit my head on pyro and split my head open. Thank God. It didn't go off because I would've went on fire, but you know, on the like when you come out, they have all this. So we were wrestling on the ramp and it was caged heat who I loved working with 'cause they were fun and they, they knew what they were doing, you know. So we've got along great and we would mess with the crowd. So she threw me and I leaped back and I thought I was like, oh, this is good, and I was so high. And then I came down and bam, and I was like, oh shit. And then I just felt blood rushing and I was like, Tam it. 'cause you know, even the smallest cut in your head a lot. So I had to do more match. And the makeup lady was like, I can't get this blood out of your hair, Mike. Well, you gotta figure it out. So we just like mad at it down and then fixed my hair over it. And then I had to go out and do another match, but I was sweating so much head like dry blood, loosening up and going back down. So it looks ridiculous. Look like sweating blood when Owen Hart died when he fell, I haven't leave a really close. I remember that Ingram was in the crowd. Oh, she's is the Kemper arena in Kansas. That's right. We, he told that story on the podcast where you on it or somebody was on. I probably Kyle dunnigan. Okay. He told the story, but just to show you how cold wrestling might be even colder than stand up. Yeah. Own hearts. Best friend, Jeff Jarrett was in the next match, and they literally pushed him out and said, when not stopping the show get out. And I guess he told the story that whoever he was wrestling through him into the corner and he looked down and there's heart's blood like they didn't clean the blood. We don't have times clean it get out money. So the production when it set up at sat up, there's no. Okay. We'll start up. No. Why is to see these matches. At Birmingham. Highs is done by company x. p. w. and they had no money, and it was owned by a porn company said they were wild. I mean, they're ring announcer would come to the ring in Nazi outfit doing the goosestep all the valets for the wrestlers point stars as in the head, these wacky that a gay character by the name angel who you know when he would his finishing move, was he hit your whatever, and you end up on all fours. And instead of the rest in so the Rev hitting the mat for the one, two, three angel would pump you in the ass three times. Oh, amazing. And the crowd. And I mean, this was a very there to shut down the company because at the end they had a big pay per view and and on their website. They had a live Cam of a puppy and the owner was going to kill it right before the pay per view started just to get numbers. I mean, they were. But you know, but they truly did shit to get numbers. And that's what Selena was thinking that day. However, she didn't realize we lost our money, the investors were there, and they were like, hey, we thought this was like a kid show, he know for little girls to go up to. And then here's Selena, lay just covered in blood. Now my phone's about to die. So this is going to be the end of the Instagram live thing because I didn't do my makeup. I just I don't look to me do, but I look like half the people. You mentioned Paul Stanley, I know, I know. I mean maybe a little bit like ace back in the day ace without makeup, Twitter, Instagram for the Instagram freaks. Where can they find you? EJ EJ Kerrigan Eleanor carrying anything. It comes up, whatever you Eleanor Carrigan comes up, but it's usually j. Kerrigan become a fail of eleanor's. We're gonna talk for another hour about wrestling the comedy store. All that bullshit. Now, what brought you in the comedy store because you're from south Philly? Yes. And you came out here to make it move to move to Los Angeles trying to make it. Lived in a house. We talked about Richie the manager of the comedy, legendary Richie says, last name. I character at the comedy store, a great character epic. I mean, the kind of guy who cheats. During the comedy source softball league. Remember that quick pitching talking shit to the other teams. And I'm like, dude, I'm here to hang out with Eleanor and Tammy Jo. We were having fun which he was like doing pushups in between. I'm like, dude, I love him. He's an athlete. He's great, but I like I'm not playing in the softball league to relive my glory years. You know. It's fucking softball. I don't even know why we had gloves. Well, we were the only team that didn't have matching outfits. We literally look like the white shadow where, like you gotta yellow shirt on. I had a kiss shirt on Tian had a Georgia BULLDOGS jersey. That's right. Tammy. Jo just Tammy gel, legendary. Maybe one of the greatest athletic performances ever when she walked twenty one straight batters. And Ritchie was yelling at her. I thought he was gonna petered death with no one else wanted to pitch. Right? So because then they hit line drives, none of us have insurance. Why are we playing? You know what I mean? Like some of the other teams they came in like cleats and matching you forms, and we're like some all of them and look at that team. We Josh Martin and right field. Yeah, it was brutal, but you didn't play earlier like way years earlier. We had Don barris Don barris faking a limp, and so he didn't have to run around the bag. But he would like walk go to first base and then like he would. They would walk them. He get on first base, he'd go real slow, and then Susie got to the Bank. He trip and roll like three feet like to fuck dealing. And then he'd be like, I need a runner and I'm like, nobody was around you. But it was everything was goof video of a play. He'd lay right in the lane while running surpassing them like doing. Don, but Don like I could see him being a great athlete. 'cause he's built like Babe, Ruth. He totally is without the alcohol. I could see done like being like this doodoo. Just on the visual, you discuss? Probably not that great of an athlete. But if you see him stretch and stuff on stage, I. So I could see he was good. He was goof though. He didn't care. Yeah, that was richest problem care too much when we get the people that care. That's when it gets boring and your riches roommate. So what happened was moved to LA from Philadelphia. I had done a showcase in New York just trying to work how monologues and get him with figuring out with this acting thing is because when you start saying you're going to be an actress in Philadelphia, they're like, oh, you think you're better than us. You know, they don't give a shit. Yeah, they're not so. They're like, yeah, you, you know. You go ahead, try that you gotta give up everything for that. You know, know, you know, you think you're cool. You're moving to Hollywood, whatever. So it was like a pain in the ass. And I was thinking of going to New York because at the time I was doing New York student films. So a good friend of mine Janis en- Gani Janis. No couple years later I met you on that. But my friend Johnny was at NYU and he would bring me into the student films. So I was like, all right, this is good. And we were like, I was learning, but then New York was so expensive and LA was way cheaper. And then I met these guys outta showcase. They had a big house right up on queen's role behind the comedy store that they could. They had a big house of the comedy store right behind the comedy store that a bunch of people were paying to live in. So I thought, all right, you know. I'll have automatic friends, you know or something and Richie was one of those people that lived in the house. He was trying to be an actor as well how he wasn't cast and the either goodfellas anything he such a. He was. He was good too. He was fun. I did a lot of work with. We did a lot of scene because in the house she didn't just get to live in the house like you had to do. It was like workshop you had to do seen study. We had on cameras, stuff like every day you. You didn't just wake up and go like they kind of tried to help you get a just it and you paid for three months. So if you got a job, you stayed. You know, like I met my roommate that I live with for twelve years. Soon as the real rag tag group up the there's some. Some of them are assholes and name. Let's name name. I gotta be honest. I don't remember their names, but like Richie Jimmy, Chris mile roommate, shit. Cathy Lewis did this program before us. She's the blind broad. Doesn't she blind? I don't know. She just has so many diseases poor thing. She Scott heart disease. I think she now has breast cancer. Yeah, that's brutal. She's going through. I mean she but she's like Keith Richards to me, she'll never die. Yeah. She's just she's all life support, but like she'll live. She'll outlive us all she call her like a cockroach. I mean, Vargas is bring her shows. I mean, comedy shows they keep her life blood flowing. Both of them are paid regulars. That's pretty impressive. For when they were coming in? 'cause it was the way early nineties which was kind of the. You know, you had the comedy, boom of the eighties, kennison Ling. Ling than the nineties were is it was kind of mirror the eighties metal scene where you know the eighties were huge in the nineties came and. I think there's so many comedy clubs popping up. They kind of oversaturated. It's kinda like what's happening now. It'll pop podcasts. Yeah, I think the good ones will last. Absolutely. And you do the comedy store podcast with the great regained Grimm which is once a week? We do it once a week. Yeah. Do you do yours once a week or twice a week? I've had weeks where I've done four in a row like Monday through Thursday. I do whenever someone can come. Oh. Oh, I mean, I do think it's better to do one a week and just so you're fans though? Monday night at eight PM. The comedy store podcast is we got, it's, but it's also like Ricky stay at home, dad. So it's, I mean, my schedule's fairly wide open in the date like. So the two of us just don't get involved. You said. This is taking a while to make happen is you're busy. You know, you're toying with dies, trying doing your own thing as well. Well, that's the good thing. It's like he's the day job. I hate to say it like that. 'cause the shows are so good and so much fun, but it's he's the day job in that. You know, that's like my my, I know that happening right now and who knows? He might fire, you know, he, he always threatens to fire me. It's my favorite thing. And so never on the off weeks. I headlined so you know, it's great and he's helping me get more headlining gigs, which I love is a big Toby bear. Here's a big teddy bear. He's just a big, he's he's a good guy. He's very good to me and he believes in me, I mean, I know before he became famous a standup as the dude from crime story. I love max goal. Mun. I love that you know, crime story and he remember searching high and low. This was years ago, we were going out. Hi and low looking for those tapes because he doesn't have them. And then Finally, I could never find them, but now with all with their Amazon all the stuff, his ex wife because we became really good friends you dated after he was, did you date before his ex wife dated in between his second wife and his third wife Oga? What is the NBA player meant to is he gets married all the time to send. He's a hopeless romantic that just he's like a dog that doesn't learn. I'm like this going to be bad, but he was married way in the beginning of his career to real piece of shit. And then he got rid of her to shoot lie to him and said she was pregnant. This right? Is he started making money right in the beginning, probably doing crime store. No. Maybe not even doing crime story because he met his second wife who's with for seventeen years, and he has children with that. He's also still very close with. He met her in Chicago while filming crime story, and then. They broke up after they broke up. We went out that after we broke up, I was trying to hook them up with whoever would come by victimes and I just can't. That's who I am. No, if I break it off and I am not, I don't. It's not like a lot of atom ac- or nothing crazy happened. We just kinda grew apart like IT's on radio interviews. I say, I regained consciousness. That's why we broke up hates that. Those really get it. Doc, that jokes joke or I know, but yet so so then he started going out with his recently divorced wife, like maybe a year and a half, Valerie who I love. And then I was dating her own coll- Rony degrade the legend of run at legend of Ronnie. Everyone I told he goes, hey, I want to come to the story go, hey, man, you can go to the store anytime you're more missed than I am. When I Li like people ask me all the time. Run is great boys and all if they would've seen him at the game, the other day, he would have been with them all day. Now I see going to your bio. One of my favorite movies of all time is fast times original high. Oh, I know where you're going this and I was always obsessed with the guy who played Ron Taylor, the car stereo. No, the stereo sales, stereo sales, very good looking guy. He was also in the movie mischief. Which came out in eighty six the great DWI Brown. By the way he's brilliant. But here's my thing to Joan Barone. My sister went to the same school. Okay, and I'm not cracking on him, but in this almost goes into how I feel about comedy teachers like. You got value out of the class? Yes. Yeah, I, I was a big Meisner. I went to play house west with James, Franco in them for a while, like I was in the same class. Goldblum was my teacher over there, but how does go Brown look at you? And I don't know. I never met him. I'm a fan. I love that. So am I going to get to first base tonight? Jio Tofte cold in this dugout speeds. Somebody. Icon. She just she wanted it. She got at like. That class and hope to get his blessing that I'm gonna make it because DWI Brown told me. So I mean, like, how does he tell people? In fact, this going to sound awful, but his wife was the more prominent, the two, meaning her voice meant more like she, she definitely she gets more work. She has trained and tutored more stars. He she was his coach and then they fell in love because I think she played the if I'm not mistaken. She plays a lot of principal, sue principle in valley girl. She plays a lot of roles like that where she, she just did won't Melissa McCarthy that was great. That scene was hilarious. Happy time murders. No, that's that's later. But this is a couple years ago, like Melissa one of her shit. I can't remember what it was, but they were fighting and I can't remember the name of the movie because it was. Oh, great, right, right. She was real. It was great seeing. She was really funny in it, but if you Google her all her shit comes up, but she the thing was DWI was he was charming. He was funny. He was smart and he wouldn't let you get away with shit, you know. But the master class was taught by his wife and to get into that, you had to go through the others. I so no, I didn't. I didn't hope that he, I just hoped I could learn something out of it and I did it. He, you know, got me to be more me on stage just more present or not on stage, but in a scene or TV, you know, 'cause everybody wants. The camera's turned on turns into somebody else for some reason. I guess. I mean, I get self conscious. Everybody does. It's a normal thing, but that's why love to invoice overs. Oh, you would only God. Do you do a lot of voice overs you. I mean, I know the jellies, but do you do more than that the only white guy in all black cartoon. How do they have an episode where I'm at Takashima Tommy's whatever that day NATO, why? Well, but that's. But that's crazy. You think my not hatred towards Tommy, but my frustrations with Tommy led me to doing that character on roasts battle that eventually got me on TV that got me this voice over gig. I can't wait to see the next character because of how angry are of roast battle. What characters gonna come out that I keep it real. I love that you have to man. I don't think it pays in this business to be honest. Oh, absolutely. Not. And I remember like my first ex-fiancee a couple of my first ex-fiancee. He shattered my heart in a million pieces. I thought I thought we were going to have ten kids together. This was the guy. This is east coast talion from New York, not an inner city guy like, but from like mount Vernon. So not like a super wealthy guy, but like you know, fun normal down to earth and his uncle played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Ralph Branka. And yeah. So I thought, okay, here we go. I'm gonna have my athlete. That's because I played Pat of football my whole life. Nobody once they stopped me how to work the markers. I was like, this sucks. Hey, paying. A girl, but I was better at those kind of sports. I was a great quarterback. I have a great arm, so play baseball, but they kicked me out at a certain age. So I was like, you know what? I'm gonna have kids with this one. I'm gonna. Have a baseball player. Didn't do that. But my nephew plays for the Minnesota Twins. So we got one in there. We go who my little Jimmy, Jimmy Kerrigan. He plays, he's in their farm system. He's a AA advanced AA now, but he's played single AA, advanced AA and AAA, and he's hit blast every time like they love him. So he's wide. He's white. Yeah, dude, he, that's what he says. He's like analog this room and he spent around it's all Dominicans, which is great. You know, whatever, but Jimmy's holding his own. So I'm proud of him. I mean, but all I was gonna say my first extra. So this is what we were talking about, like he had. He was an agent. He had superstars. He had Martin Lawrence, Chris Tucker. I mean, I, Chris Tucker later. I got him Chris Tucker, long story, but Chris rock, like those were the guys. He mold it from the ground up and they blew up, you know, Adele givens and. Angela means by Felicia that one like she, they were all comics guy. Torry Joe Torry, Tommy Davidson, Joe Torre, the baseball now, Joe Torry guy. Tori's older brother. But he they were all his clients. And so I always ask him because he watched especially Martin and Chris rock become superstars and Tommy Davidson, to an extent Tommy kinda messed himself up. I said, do you have to sell your soul? And he's like, oh, yeah, yeah, and it hurts and it's and it's awful. Yeah, and that's why you see Martin Lawrence running on Ventura with a gun hand. That was me. That was me at one point. That's where you get the central office's. Why just you know. Chris rock would just back out things, but after a while it just, you know, you just wanted this appear, what's I can deal with rejection? I'm fine with that. But what they want you to be what they expect you to be once you sell out in a way in. So to speak, sell out. And you know you make that crossover into business and I've been to premiers with them up into, I watched Chris Tucker blow up. He was. He came to call me store and within three years, maybe two and a half, he became a superstar. And that was the weirdest thing I've ever seen and what they turned him into that quickly. It was all the sudden like powerful people all around him, like basically mapping out what he has to do, what he's gonna do and asked the question. This is the answer you give, and if this and it made him fucking crazy. It was too fast. It was too much. They started shooting heroin. I mean, it's. I mean, I've seen that with people. We've been in it so long that I think if we ever got the break, we just be like, look, I don't. I don't wait already hurts. I would be so appreciative after, do you think I wonder, I do wonder. I mean, I know you know, with rose spousal, it was thirteen years in. I was like, this is amazed floor. Yeah, you do whatever you want. I was so thankful to be on comedy central five nights and six days after literally thirteen years of not one single TV appearance. This is this is like a sexual feeling like the nays, but then you get like the behind the scenes like are behind the curtain. Oh, this, there's politics here and, oh, the politics grouse, and I always knew they existed, but like this is my first time like, oh, I'm on the wrong end of the stick here. Why is this person getting treated better than me? Yeah, when I helped build a show and oh, they have a manager, right? Oh, now I get it in that little click right now. I'm not so, but like on the jellies. It's awesome like because they're, they're just more probably appreciative. They're all just hardworking people that sold something. It's not about. Millo about agents and pushing and moving their client forward. I mean, it's like Tyler, the creator's, like I think it's you're right. It's his baby. It's a one man gang and like as long as Tyler's happy, everyone's happy. Yeah. So it's like Neetu and he takes care of everybody like no one's made to feel inadequate from the writer's assistant who's not getting paid to made to fill the mar- who's like the Wayne Gretzky voice over actors like he's a m- he's like mind blowing data. Everyone's major feel the same. And you could like feel it in the booth, or you know you're just like, this is fun. Yeah, and it's way more relaxed when it's like that. Like when dice dyestuff doing the Dyke Show on Showtime, like right in the beginning, like right when they they, I think they were about to sell it or something, and it sold it right. I wrote it. There's been a call wheels, but she's called cannoli dice, but I, no, no, yeah. He so bizarro. But what the guy, Scott Armstrong that was selling it. You know, they were still in talks and dice as a goof was like doing all this stuff online and making these crazy videos. And I mean, we were in the middle of, no, I think we're in Indiana. I'm trying to think of the Fort Myers or something. I'm trying to think of a cop car that kept going by and in middle nowhere making a video and they called us and they're like, take it down an Andrew like what? And he's like, we're trying to play a game here. We're trying to make something happened, take it down and he had like ten up and he was having so much fun, like making something on his own being goof being the silly guy he likes to be and they made any called like, can't do it buddy. The politics just no good. Like you were trying to get here and you're. Messing around and playing mid level shit dice getting. Oh. List thirty years in the business superstar screamed out on the road. All of us got yelled at after I, they called me and I didn't answer because I was in the middle of video and then they called wheels, and he was like disowned so's calling me. And then they called dice and they, they met us all stand around and yelled at us. Just crazy like, oh my God, you'd think this many years later he still be allowed so to speak to do. So. Now he don't have the die show. He don't give a shit. That's why he does what he does on Instagram and his podcast. Now, what's his podcast? I didn't know he had won over here at the dice cast and it's it's called him over here. Obviously, coho co-host or no, I'm on it a lot, but I'm not. I don't wanna be the co host because I have my own, but I do like get hit, but his is like a reality show. It's not like see how we're sitting here. Normally, talking his holy, the room. He's got video. He's fuck as he is he going. So it's just retarded. He's but he loves it, but it's him full control, having fun same with his Instagram. He puts up whatever he wants. Talk shit about who everyone's. He's done. He's over it. Which is what I love about this podcast in UN wreck. I think I don't wanna put words in your mouth now. Go fine. Somewhere in charge. Exactly. I know you guys to different degree after probably make sure the comedy store is cool with now. We have a disclaimer. We got trouble in the beginning with Sam Tripoli because he kept saying a certain persons name over and over again and talking about how they would do coke and she would give head. Really. What we were saying was she made the comedy store. Great. And she got mad about it. 'cause we were like people like this is what makes gives the comedy store the element of craziness that it needs. Does that make sense? Like I know it's greedy and it's thirty, but it's the, she was like a groupie Anna comic and whatever you give me a hint. Give me a hint as to who it is j.. Oh yeah. Yeah, I think a periodically I get. Messages from her asking for a ride cigarettes or cash, not me anymore because she hates me and I'm like, do I? I ended her and said nice things, but they weren't saying terrible things that makes that like I mean, I guess they were. They do Co. they do was blowing them if you're at the comet at the other girl who didn't mind at all, either she didn't get mad. Her name was Katie. Arcadia. Truncating are not my waitress a different one. You know him talking about our don't, but there's so many. This is why it's hard to explain the comedy store. The people know factory do your show you leave much improv very nice club. They don't have enough hallways, like we do comedy stores, ant farm of the and Star Wars. Like you've got every freak even today that you still have freaks up there. You know, you've got. You know fast Eddie up there who just say, may or may not deal in powdered refreshment. You've got, I love the mayor may not the Mike David who's not even quite sure that has been rich guy from the laugh factory who just parks his car outside the store jumps in and out of it to impress like whoever any brings like. Like dozens of candy bars and van. Van. Candy who's bringing candy, like lots of it, like dozens of butterfinger bar wanna butterfinger Mckee, fucking weirdo. Just a little bit. Yeah. I mean, some, you know, he strikes me some a lot of dot org websites. Internet catch, but I try also explain to people that the store is tame to what it used to be Okasha. Well, because Rick and I love to talk about the dead years. The dead years were knowing was watching knows watching in the lineups for Sebastian like, well, he was coming up. Yeah, coming up finding his way. I guess like I started in ninety three and there was still like dice coming in Bob sag once in a blue moon, you know, like there was still some heavy hitters come in through once in a while, but then we got like Chris Tucker Holtzman showed up joy Marham. Oh. You're a marble. Masih he would my favorite was when he would just stand on stage wedge himself. Like in Macur put two fingers between his legs, hold it, a solid minute, raise them slowly to his nose and go. My persisting. Six, like never breaking it like the poses stinks. And I'm like, what? The. I love. I'm joy, mar MOS. A blow up doll. It was amazing joys like that's like that's intimidating about this business. If someone like him to me a super fund and he just basically moved to Florida, but that's mental and meaning like he met someone, he fell in love. He had kids and mentally, you have to make the situation. Can I struggle with my kids or do I have become a person, this hobby? So it's like a choice you have to make, and he made that choice and the hobby slowly dwindled out because in the beginning when he first got married and they had, he was still doing commercials who still get work, he was still performing at the store. I remember his wife. She's love, yes, she they've been together forever is almost like learn and his wife. It's the same thing, whereas galore galore, hilarious. To me. He's like one of my absolute favorite comics. I could watch him. He's very, you. Galernter Holtzman ultimate ridiculous can't. But I also when I look at go, how's this guy? Not famous like no one is like all tried. Earl, we all try let me and tried to explain to me one is again, I took him to factory and like, you know, he's a little too hard core for them. They picked up. He didn't wanna play the game and play the game. He's the complete opposite of what Hollywood wants. Now when I talk about my first ex-fiancee there was two comics when I when we started going out and he was a booking agent for comics, I said, you have to come see these two comics. One was Chris Tucker. The other one was Brian Holtzman. So Chris Tucker was in talks to do Jackie Brown. I think with the Bruce Willis and I thought you meant the tall black comic at the store. Who's check is there a comic Nicole? Neum big lips expel is named Jackie Brown girl is her name, Jackie. Jack, hey Brown. I can't keep how Larry to ease anyway. So Jackie Brown was a movie in the nineties, and. Chris Tucker had a small part in it. Then he got fry. Then he was like, you know. You know, people from Friday's came looking, whatever. So Billy my ex, he jumped right in on it. He was like, okay, guys, great. Signed him. PA's, got him work and everywhere. Great. So that worked out then I say, you gotta come see Holtzman so it's like, all right. And these banking on, he came to see him. He saw him have a great normal host. Many said he goes, this guy's great. So he sets it up packed in the original rooms, nineteen ninety-five, jam-packed everybody from William marris's air because that's where Bill used to work. Billy Martin Lawrence, Martin Lawrence call Billy that night. Heywood he doing he was gonna comedy, storm showcase comic. Maybe I'll come down ochre we know how crazy Martin was going at that point. You know, he was doing the pills and whatever. So he comes down Kony store, the showcases all set up. I'm excited. I'm waiting tables. The manager, Nancy were all excited. This is all about Holzmann a big deal. And Brian goes on. He's two seconds in I joke dead all sudden accrue people walk in. It's Martin Lawrence and his entourage. They sit down and well, thanks for showing up. You know, he is. He starts yelling, you know, then they start heckling him, won't you say some funny motherfucker. You know, whatever you think this is easy. He is easy and immediately starts. To lose it an unravel. See. So unlike fuck and I'm panicked because I'm like, get back in the pocket, getting the stay in the pocket and. Martin starts doing more shit. You crazy look, the other. You look like whatever. You know, you think this is easy. You wanna come up here and he starts walking toward him Holtzman and then he gets off the stage and goes toward. He goes, you think I care if Billy marris's here to see me. I don't give a shit. I don't need this Hollywood bullshit. He loses his walks off the stage with the microphone to ward Martin's crew. I don't think he knew it was Martin as soon as he got like this, like an inch from are not an inch, maybe a couple inches from Martin Martin's bodyguards stood up and knocked him out. It was. I'm standing there with a traitor. You gotta be fucking kidding me. Wow. I've never heard that story before first. They thought it was a joke like up Brian's on the ground and Nancy, the manager comes in and it's like, what the hell are you doing yells at Martin? And he goes, knock you cut. She's like cut, and she goes after him and it just turned into me him. And then we had a clear out the whole thing. It was awful. So that was the first time I tried to help Holzmann. That's how it went. He was like, that guy's credible, but we can't, you know, and then we're being Bryner in the back and I'm helping them ISIS face, you know, and he goes, should I su- I knew it was Mark because of his is I saw his ears, you're sick, mother fucker. We took pictures and stuff, but he never sued. He wouldn't do that. But then flash to, let's say, six years later. My ex is out of the business. We broke up. He whatever. So I see Jennifer, Craig. I don't know if you know Jennifer, Craig, aka, Jenny, Craig, good, Jennifer, Craig, the not the weight loss person, but some people call her Jenny Craig. I should say like some people call her Jenny. And I said she was at the comedy store. She was the head of film and television at William Morris. She was the boss. She was Ovitz have been courting her like, this is the biggest big time right then. And I said to Jennifer, hey, you one of the comics a female comic walk by and she said hailing or, and I said, hi. And then I introduced Degen Jennifer, and they shook hands and she goes. Are you funny? And Jennifer looked at me and I was like. 'cause I, I don't endorse what I don't like it. You know, I'll just smile and be polite, or I'll say their new great personality. Exactly. Like if somebody's not what I know this woman's looking for or the person, whatever I don't push it, so I just kinda not it, and then somebody else walked up and it got distracting, thank God. Thank God like I didn't have to deal with it. So then Hultman walked by and I said, Holtman and at the time, Jennifer, Craig was with my friend, Stacy Mark, who was Billy's assistant at the time and is now like the vice president of the PA department at William ours. So I said, oh, this guy's funny, and she turned go. This is Brian Holtman, and Stacey was like, 'cause she was there when Martin knocked him out. So she's like to two and I go, he's hilarious, relax. And so I go, Jennifer, this guy is somebody you should know. And I think at the time, Damon wayans was putting Brian on his show, what was it? My wife and kids. Okay. Yeah. So I said he does, you know, Damon, wayans everybody US anybody, Brian hold and Jennifer credit goes. Look. Fellow Carrigan says, your funny, you're funny, here's my card and he handed to it and he looked at it me saw Jennifer, Craig and immediately thought Jenny Craig. And he went, I don't need to lose weight bitch, and he ripped up her card and threw it in her face almost ship my pants. The head of television. Sweet always play the game. So when you say Brian does play the game, it's he's not even close. I mean, he should be like to me, he's like kennison like, I'm sure when kennison was I doing the whole preacher yelling. I don't think he would ever do that to a tech that now I don't think he would ever do that to a. Are they filming. Oh my God, ladies and gentlemen show that to the fans. We are filming on Facebook live. I'm not going to say who a dumb man is, but people get programmed when they call a lot. But this is last name rhyme with Ray. Yeah, that'd be great on air, but you know, we're not getting Johnson palled. Yeah, yeah, Jabber. He would like it. Sometimes I do at the store. I'll take a, I'll take his call. Well, he would like it because I always talk to them about making the grade when he was the security guy. I very rated dice film, but this is back when he added the Judd Nelson movie. No way he was the like the nightclub bouncer in making the grade hall. Hold on, I think, might have to take a call or we're gonna we're, I can pause hold on before you before you do your thing eleanor's to take a phone call. So so I've never, but let me shut the Facebook live off before I don't want this. We're going to be back in three, two one. Okay. We are back. Sorry. Elinor had to actually take a serious phone call about something unfortunate that just happened. So. You know, that's only happened one other time when I had the great and legendary Rick Overton on. And came wreck is. That's another. Well, Rick is kind of a big deal. Like I love rank Overton Holzmann could be like a Rick Overton time and in the middle of the way more structure. But well, I think Rick plays the game a little bit better like he gets it. But in the middle of our podcast, you got a phone call that Garry shandling pass. And I was like, oh boy, hey wreck. So tell us about the show settlers drawn tomorrow night. So sorry about that, but sometimes guy's life gets in the way of maybe at your podcast earlier killing off all our friends. Tell you that this is a crazy thing to people who done inappropriate died. No, yeah. Rowdy Roddy Roddy piper. By the way, the number shot through the roof when he died, could be honest with you. Thank you was the best. He was great. All right. He was doing standup I, I'm not sure if he was doing stand up. He was on stage. But I was the last thing he tweeted he his last week before he passed with something along the lines of if you mess with me, you get my partner bigger or so all these news outlets thought we were like best friends, which we were good friends. So they were calling me to speak about his death. I'm like, I'm not really qualified to like like, you didn't know him. No. Different part of his life, and he trust it. You guys tell you guys stories and hung out and felt accepted. And I mean, that's like you don't get that at the laugh factory or improper rowdy. Roddy piper coming into do stand up or when David Arquette used to come in former w game yesterday or two days ago because I, he goes to a lot of Rams games, right? So I told him I was going on Thursday and he said he was going to get there late. But then I, I got so into the game, I wound up not seeing because I forget that like most people go to a game and they're like, oh, it's an event. We're going to say hi to people. I don't. I watched the game. I'm like weird like that. Like I actually sit studiously and watch the game while I'm the same way. Like when the Steelers play people like it's not an event, I'm not talking anybody. I'm watching look. I wanna talk, don't talk about stand up. Don't wanna talk. Stories, watch alone. Most of the time I do because I stay a lot of racial slurs. So watch shoe. I mean Hieaux when me barris and sandy dantonio go to the the house. At the end of the driveway of the comedy store that I mean, it's the most amazing house Pauley Pauley on per minute. I think he's still does own the one on the other side. This is the house where dean, the legendary dean Gelber. He lived in the guest house. Here, but it was it. You know, from the street, it doesn't look like that sprawling of a complex though the other on the other side, that place was great too, because mitts used to let the comics live in the cottage at the bottom. But Bobby Lee, didn't. He live about Bobby libra FREDDY Soto. I don't think Bobby lived there. Bobby lived in Polly's. This was Bobby lived in Polly's part. Paul when Mitty owned the other house, we had like Brett bowl house a huge pro. The nightclub promote. Yeah. So Brett was up there when Freddie was there all manager. Debbie lived there. Patty Ross live there. Like I don't remember Bob Ross, Pat t. Rowe spent on same size, different person, watch wacho. My mom, I only everybody knows that what we would meet bears and sandy would play Madden up at the top. It was like the castle. And let's just say, I'm glad those games when videotaped. Oh yeah, we and you know, you know, Bob. Oh, Shak. Right. All that. That's another guy. I mean, we could do a podcast on comics who should be huge. Oh, yeah. And what's I? You know, I don't know. Unforgivable. That's like, oh, he's not. Yeah, but I'll never be that funny and it's like how like like, we'll we'll text and he's like, dude. I was on Oprah on my key still uses credits on like the late show. No, but it's more of a goof, like bro. Big, you don't. You have new credits. You have rose. Battle is a newer ish credit, but I used bench warmers for so long as credit benchwarmer still isn't as old as Bob sag bringing. Bobble Shak on Oprah at late nineties bird like sterile, but he is. Ballboy thought, oh my God, we've had some private conversation, but we, his wife is a sweetheart, very clean cut like extremely clean-cut and me and FREDDY Soto. And sometimes this other guy, Jason hearts, we would leave horrendous. Messages just to make him nervous, and you know, like, say, ridiculously racial things about why people, Mexicans, black, whatever Asians, we're big on hick and on Asians for a while just to leave him on Bob's machine in hopes that his wife came home first and he would get in trouble for it like it was. It was truly all a goof like nothing other than to get him in trouble. And one time FREDDY went town on the machine. And like I mean, has a Mexican from El Paso. He came up with some slurs that I never heard and we from, I know we were crying laughing in the background, and then all the sudden the phone picks up and it's Bob and he's like, stewed. My in-laws are. Like echoing through the apartment and as inlaws are visiting his wife and his wife was like, that's his friends. Those are his friends, but that's the comedy store humor. Oh, she hates us. I mean, the comedy story. I always tell people, it's not for everybody. It's not even today. It's so. You know people only at the comedy store could've show gross battle happen, certainly, which is borderline bullying early on as bullying. Today's word bullying. Why think as an shows gave me everything so the in, you know, I had a meeting with comedy central this week, all is well. When the Viacom lady, I play the game a little bit with Geordie. I love George Geordie FOX on the podcast. I can tell about all the time he had a breakdown and kicked all the walls and put holes in them. I would love to have on the podcast guy who did the opposite like he went from being a comic to. Yeah, the gatekeeper. And how do you make those decisions? Like again, it comes down to kids and stuff like can I support myself as a comic as a struggling comic and a kid and kids, rather, I mean, that's like I think in two thousand six United was dating my girlfriend at the time, Shelly for six years, and she literally never missed a show in six years, open mics, and I'm talking. I was playing some pretty bad rooms. Wow. That's a good girl. Oh, I mean, she's amazing and we still talk, but like I, you know, there was a time when it was okay, I now I gotta try and get into the comedy store and I've got a, I'm starting from scratch essentially because everyone loves me, but I'm not in there and it was I had a choose between her and another. Oh no. I mean, I, I mean, so we broke up. But while I am king of the open my ex, but at the comedy store, I'm starting at the. The bottom again. So I was just like you have to pick one or the other gas. I don't think you can do both people ask all the time. How do I get in there? And I'm like, I've been here since nineteen ninety three not as a stand up twelve years as a waitress never doing stand up. Mid-sized assistant left for year and a half. After I got a gauge the dice then came back as a comic and now have been doing, come comedy over eleven years like, but even when I came back doing open mics, like I wouldn't just do the store, but to get into the storing to get that respect, took a long time, took me close to thirteen years and it didn't take me that long, but it took me to establish and get because there he knew it took three years three and a half, but it felt like thirteen years. Yeah, because she showcased me three times and what was I mean, that's the one regret I have is never been showcased by her just because it's Mitzi like she's the godmother exactly and especially me because I was her sister and she was pissed when it turn. When I told her I was doing a woman show. She was cool with it when I. I said, I'm doing stand up. She was like, oh, Honey, 'cause she hate it. Waitress turn comic. That's usually the, you know, I've seen a few or mentioned names. Oh no. I saw a lot doesn't, but I blocked their names because I don't ever wanna thinker. See that again. I can't block their name so I can't not say Matiz wrong. Does that make sense? What in your case? She what's true, but now I've had waitresses that came in as comics and aren't terrible, they, they were good. They weren't like watching the show and thought I could do that with people think I did. And that's not what happened. I never watched comedy star. Like, I never watched shows and there's acts I can do verbatim. I never watched the, oh, that's easy. Even the bad ones. I just thought, why would you do that to yourself? I think some people are so baked and delusion. They don't. Yeah, there's definitely that runs rampant. We're all delus- everywhere. Certainly, negotiable, we have a an, we're on the spectrum, but I think like you and I are delusion is based in reality. You're funny, there's not out of the realm for you to make whatever making is in this business. Right. I would say the same thing about me, but when you see like. Certain people who never do well, and they think they're going to be the next Jim Carrey. It's like like Richard krewe said Stallone. At the end of Rambo, in the warehouse, it's over Johnny. Come on home, nothing. It's over. Nothing makes me happy then how well, you know, movies, what got me. It got us through life, but I'm like, Rainman Saint my brother Chali ill, jolly billion myself. We're all around the same age. Will do you just be while you'll say align and they'll be like, what movie and very rarely do any of us gets dunked. I mean that it is sad, but recently it helped. I just in this concern like I'm bragging or whatever. You know me, I don't. Brag is really not. Brag, you wearing red white and Blue Sox def Leppard shirt on. I got Adidas waiter shorts on waker, Wigger waiter approve the, you're not gay in this neighborhood is that was happening. I mean, I think if there was a yelp review for my PP at the comedy store, it would get five stars. I would be the first to give it because like RIC flair said girls is one thing that ticket to space noun. It's another thing that ride it. Szeswith RIC flair whenever I'm bombing thirty for thirty. I was sad. 'cause you're like, I never want great. There was some great line. Oh my God. I mean, I think like I never wanted me people like him who. He's pretty shitty dad to be on like a horrible husband. Just got married a fifth time. Did you see the wedding pictures? Yeah, the recent, it's the creepiest thing I've ever seen. He's however, all the is and his wife is significantly younger and thinking of the, they did show some pictures on the Thursday. No, no, this was the TV is due to come on any second now. So we're gonna mute. The sound. Atanas timer. What do you got timed out are just it'll go onto MSNBC. I'm fascinated with the supreme court thing. Are you serious? Well, yeah. Just like it's the alternate. He said, she said, how you fight that? What do you do. I don't like politics, but I hate nonsense more well, I just love going back and forth between. I watch all three networks CNN and MSNBC or basically the same network the, hey, Trump just Rippin cabin. So and then FOX is like the complete opposite. So funny to go on like Don lemon tonight, and he's a cabin a maniac. He's a rapists, he says, and then you go to Hannity and Laura Ingraham. Like I thought he did really good at on the stand. Fingered me once and it was great. I didn't even know he was doing it for like ten minutes, but then I was like, okay, cool. Well, it goes into. I'm just saying it's like the other day. I said that we, we have touched good seats at the Rams game. I said to my little sister, I'm feeling up some of the players and she goes, don't do that. They're going to get mad at you thirty years later, and I go all I'll be dead by them, but it's true. But yeah, I was like crazy to look. Women are people not just women, men and women. We're shit happens to. I have men, friends and women friends that have both been raped, whatever came out. One, not immediate. The guy always takes the guys even longer. I know that sounds where but the girl came out. Pretty quick to them, and nobody believed nobody believed was the guy raped by another guy or another girl. I mean, I was raped by an older guy. I mean, you know, guy was raped by an older guy who was part in that fucking rang that Sandusky was running. It was a good linebacker. He wasn't a football player. They had even more crazy shit. They had the young football players, but then they also had these young kids that were like inner city kids that their parents were kind of like this Kip specifically. His dad got killed in the line of duty, and then his mother was just a single mom with five boys. And one of them was the number one kickboxer in the like they have anger issues beyond anger issues like there were mess. So they didn't have a lot of money because the mom would go to work and they kind of they were like, hey, won't give you money if you do this. So they were basically like fucking brainwashing. This kid to be a prostitute. A young fifteen year old prostitute or I mean, that's what they would do with the team, maybe ring boys, wrestling crazy like, oh, if you set up the rain, you can meet hulk, HOGAN hawk would rape them. Know these guys would fought my. A friend like do other stuff. And now his family doesn't believe them doesn't believe him, and they won't let them around the kids because they think he's a pedophile my what. What like with this cabin thing? It's a, he's saying, no, he didn't. She say she's one hundred percent positive was Hammett boy. The priest did somewhere Chit to him and he has no evidence. Everybody believes the little boy and I'm like pre shipping jail, right? I mean, I was made to nothing happened, but what does that mean? I would, you know, touch my name. No, I wish I was touched by someone on that show. It'd been good credit like one of the heads of cast in at FOX. Right? Right. You tell the story. Yes, yes, I had a million by the way I just but you know, it never really bothered me until this came. This is like, oh, yeah, I guess I was kinda fucked up what happened to me or the attempt of what this guy was trying to do. Now. There was a guy and he was a supposedly a big producer. I've looked them up a couple of times. Nothing really comes up like a couple little things, but maybe at the time he was. Hot, but he probably did this to other people and I was probably twenty three, twenty four, maybe and my friend, his this guy's best friend wanted to date my friend and he they picked us up at the comedy store after us, wait tables on night in a Rolls Royce. And my friend said, although if you let me drive, she grew up in California. She's like, watch this. I'm like, he's gonna let you drive a Rolls Royce bit. Of course he did. He let her, I don't even think she, I didn't have a license. She did maybe, but we drove up and down sunset. She topped gorgeous. I was like, oh my God, doing, you know, right out of south Philly. I'm in a Rolls Royce on sunset, strip, the fuck. So then he's like, I live right up here in the hills, so we go to his house, phenomenal Brady. I grew up in a row home. I'm completed. I'm like, wow, I'm looking around. So I said to my friend, are you okay? Because I don't wanna leave her with fucking stranger mistreat fired. I could take both of these guys. I want to go on in the house if I didn't think I could. So she goes, she goes Tokay and the guy was perfect. Gentleman, her guy. So the other guy goes, come on show you tour. I show you the house Israeli, right? I didn't know about the commerce through tours yet, so we go look around the house. He goes, this room, this room this. He's not even doing anything. I'm like looking at everything then of like on the balcony, and I could see the comedy store like way down the hill. You know, like, whoa, this is beautiful as we're in the master bedroom on the balcony, looking out on like, wow, this is awesome. I turn around like David, you gotta come. See this. I turn, I'm sure he saw it a million times, but I was so like excited. I was like, come see this, and he turned, I turned around and he was. Balls asked naked and I go. At first because he was older, like in sixties, you know? And I was like to, you got to put pants on. That's fucking girls, right? And he goes, oh, this makes you nervous. I put a pillow and he took. He found the little fuck and heart pillow and put it over his little gray nuts. Right? And I was like, what are you doing? And part of me to pull your pants on. That's ridiculous. Like I'll kill you and he, he just looked at me. He goes, oh, you one of those knobs and I will I put your fucking pants like now I got pissed. And at that point I'm looking around for like blunt objects to fuck and just kill this guy, maybe throw him over the balcony. And there was like this little statue that I was just ready to just pound his fucking dumb head in with, and he got up and he was like, oh, and he's putting his pants on. He's he will never work in this town. Again, I, I don't wanna work in fuck in town, five to look at your gray nuts, you know. And he's starts cursing me in some whatever. Isreaeli. And I go all fucking kill you, like I was. So I turned right back to who I grew up at, and then I went downstairs and I was, I saw my friend and I'm like, look, this guy's an asshole. And he's like, what did he do? Like his friend and I go, he's a pig. I'm getting outta here. Are you coming? And the guy drove the nice guy trove us back down to the comedy store. Was Jamie Masada? No. He likes Asian girls. He wouldn't come after me, but this guy must've been in like Caitlin Jenner. Oh, no. Have bad. Napa jokes for? Yeah, sixty five year old right. Usually sixty five. This guy was probably sixty five. Like that's gross to a twenty three year old twenty. Yeah. I think I was twenty three. I mean, I've had a twenty seven year age difference, but you know, yeah, legal, my brain and my anger Salmi hurling that motherfucker over the balcony like it was nothing because I knew of these other people that God forbid, if something happen, they. The two girls definitely report it immediately and nobody believes them. I mean, the evidence is hard to find like. This girl, the other night she was wasted. She was like, I was just raped because I think everybody's in this go, hey, man, we gotta go get a kit. Like was nervous at the comedy store. She was wasted. It was late, closing the doors, and it was right after the Emmys I think. And she was like, are you all right? 'cause she looked like she was walking from the parking lot. She goes, she called me an asshole, but she was talking about no one. And then because there was nobody behind her and they had already locked all the doors. So I don't know who she was talking to, and then she walked out and she goes, I was just raped. And I was like, hey, we gotta go get a kit. Like even if you're fucked up, we gotta prove this. We need the kit. You gotta get the whole thing with the supreme court themes thirty years ago, how is supposed to know and if this guy didn't do anything other than. I shouldn't say didn't do anything, but apparently he held her down correct while he's he didn't do anything. He's saying he didn't even basically, he doesn't know down where unlike, okay, I got figure out how to get all of this fucking thing. I mean, I don't, you know, I I don't like being too violent with girls and the only way I get off. I understand. But if you go too far and I don't give the okay, but you know, I mean, the last girl I was with a she was a little aggressive 'cause they're safe or it was fuck me, harder. You faggot. So when she said it that mean you had a fucker harder. I mean, no means, no, I got, you know, men's, I. Oh, keep going. Well, he because you we've seen like. I mean, you're at the store in the nineties. I was there in the dark ages, dark ages. You could walk into the main room and there'd be three different comics. Fuck in three different areas of the rue. Like. People think the stores wild now and it's fun, but it's not like it used to be in terms of the outlaw behavior. Rooms are locked. Now, one of the comics right when they started doing that, he had medical and he walked back and he didn't know, and he. He will. I guess he started to go on the tour and then he turned around and he went, oh, we're locking doors now. I mean, and he was with the really cute girl and was like. Yeah, they started doing that. I think it was the great Eric Anderson, the legendary managers like, okay, guys, this isn't you know, aboard, Delo anymore. We have to like. Per se. I mean, there were times going the main room with a lady friend and I'd sit down and I hear like Dave Taylor Earl, can you move down a bit? Oh sorry, my bad, my bad. I it's hard to explain it to now. I know there was one girl. I don't remember. I might mess up this story, but they've told it on the comedy store podcast. Quite a few times. I believe she Balu. Sam Tripoli are Shapir. Tony Hans clips and then was outside on the patio making out with some guy like from Australia or something. And he was like, Hollywood's amazing actor. It was like a reality show. I I know I'm friends with the girl, so I we won't. You don't have to say her name, but it was just like, but they were. There was a love with her. That's the best kisser ever. I'm like, yeah, how are seem and tastes, but it was always like Ari and and Sam and Tony were on the podcast. Oh, you let her kiss her like on the patio. Not the podcast on the patio. Like looking at her like, oh, good because I think it was all on the same night or the same boat. It was all within the same like hour and a half. Okay. I knew it was something crazy like that. The only reason they knew is because they saw it on the cameras. They had just started banking which makes it even tougher. We always had the cameras. We just couldn't afford to keep them on and record and shit. I mean now they're like, it's the movie. You're going to the comedy store. Managers offices like the Houston space center. Like there's thirty high def cameras running around the clock almost mean it's like, dude, you don't trust us. But in some cases it's good. Like, you know, because there's a lot of riffraff at the store now where you don't know who they are. People are coming in like Yelm comic like Bobby Lee told story on his podcast that this girl was walking down the hall and she's like move. And I was like. Were you standing in the middle of the hall? And he's like, no, I was just walking down the hall and she was like, I'm a comic here and he'd never heard of her like he'd never seen her heard of her and she goes, so you got to move. He was like, are you. She goes. He goes on comic here too, and she goes, oh, really? I just got off stage and he was like, I'm gonna show you something. And he went in the back and he got a glass and he walked back in the hallway and he threw it at the wall. And it goes, they'll do nothing to me. But if you did that you'd be thrown out. That's how much power I have here and I go, you're such a dick and he goes, I know. But she pissed me off. But at the same time I understand what he's saying like these people are like, excuse me. I were a comic here. I was just on stage in the belly room. Oh, I see that a lot lately calmed down. And then you get these comics from other cities. Like there was a comic about three years ago. Just kind of like twenty one pretty young dude needs from Philly, and. Nice enough dude, pass that the seller. I can't say it's not true, but like that will at the time I'm like, he seems a little young to be passed at the seller. And then he headline Philly. And I asked Pat Barker whose villi comic very funny. Saying rose battler because he's a comet, does both. He's one of the few who's good at both Joe dash to Joe's those people that know the other side of it too. They get it that it's different is definitely like, I mean, I think it's like like the slam dunk competition. If you look at who wins the slam dunk competition most years, it's not the best player on the time. It's just like, oh, he has good vertical leap. You can't dribble, but you know he can done and if there's a defender, right? It's a little harder. Like, you know, I've done some shows recently with Ross battle. Heavy com. Well, you got to rely on your jokes instead of going, hey, you're fat, you're a whore, but this guy from Philly was like telling he was headlining clubs, all over Philly. Philly apparently is somewhat small comedy, right? So. You know, you get so many people like that who it's like this comedy store, you're not gonna bullshit Eleanor or me or Holtzman or barris, or bullshit Holtzman because he doesn't hang out enough, but I'm saying like barris we're there all the time. Yeah, all work there all the time. I mean, I don't usually go unless have spots, but I usually get a decent amount of spots that I'm there quite often all hail king Adam. Thank oh my God. I say, thank you them a million times over I heart is like, I wish I could. I wish I was famous too, so I could get you a job. Yeah, I want him to succeed. I if he gets to move up because even though the comedy star is very corporate now, which is also uncomfortable to what is weird or it's never been more popular, but it's definitely more straitlaced. Right? Which I guess is good. I don't wanna say it's bad. I mean, it's making money. Any hand over fist, and I mean even late night when I go on you on later, it's crowds, whereas you know, to get a twelve thirty spot in the mid to thousands, early two, thousands. You're playing to renaissance in Yousef in the back like we had called on again on and I didn't realize he got passed in ninety nine and so she will give him spots Mitzi and he would come ninety nine two thousand and he would come from Santa Monica, and it would be like five people and he's like, I drove alway. Governess for was fifteen dollars at the time or maybe even less, I don't know. But it was just the weirdest like I can't do this. So he left and came back now. I mean, that's right. Like have to, you know what? I came in two thousand. I mean, literally, ever forget I walked into the back, oh, are stairwell Scotty? Barron was onstage talking about fucking Britney. Spears in the ass with drumstick I said, okay. At maybe bit. Maybe I should wait outside and then Gaylord Englander was the second person I met. And then I, I stayed because Dave Tyree got me a spy best. I paid him for jokes. I look. I just looked at them recently. These were all stolen Joe's. You're kidding. No, but that night I got to go up and Brody was the himse and he made some guy from the Hoya cry because he had bombed and brought. He was like, where are you from. Yeah, basically. Where are you from the Hoya drive? Just got a lot longer year. Got it. Got it. I was like this places and for me right now, I don't think I could hang here. It was scary. I mean, we, there was nights. I can remember Brody on stage. Oh man. It Brody onstage. There's six people in the audience. He's trying to get a goal Freddie sotos just hanging out late night and me. I was waiting tables and be sitting in the back. And I remember painter, James painter was working the door. So. I forget who is in the cover booth could have been anybody at that point Daghma now she never worked for us, but she worked Hilo. She. So we were sitting there fucking around and brody's. I'm ready sotos in the audience and I want him to be impressed with me and this isn't going well. I have scars on my face. It was right when he got burnt. He got some laser something and he got burnt. So. Freddie. I don't remember what I said. But all I know is the painter came up to me goes, you could very well be the meanest person I ever met my life like whereabout Freddie like it was roasting to FREDDY. Got him. Good. I remember Freddie's lines Freddie was he's like, I can't be an actor because I have burns on my face Freddie's like Brody that's not true. Edward, James almost. Rhody was passed and he's like, FREDDY, you can't relate. You have good scan, and he goes, no, I can't relate because when I drive home on my street, there's potholes and I hit those little saying like he had holes in his face like we were. I thought Brodie was going to kill themselves and I guess I chimed in on some. I just don't remember what they were. Well, that's why so people who like I was just the way. I mean, it was a free for all back. Then the people who rose battle is mean-spirited like you got no one roast bad would last in that era. Never because it was you were tested. And if you do, you think comedies I clicky now then when there wasn't fear, we'll go on and just fuck with my waitresses and say nasty ship, then I'd have to come in and school him. Yeah, when Danish donate owed host, potluck. That's my favorite. They'd rip into, you know, Hinchcliffe or you know, I mean, I used to watch Benji. Have you like comics who are going to bomb? You're gonna love this next act like totally bearing them. And then you know some young open mic. Bring me up this girl. She only fucks guys that we're fingerless gloves road, all like you, son of a bitch and then like they would get jealous. Tommy would semi to the Hoya lot. So they'll be like, oh, you could see her in Hoya every week because the town coordinator wants to fucker like just like, do Tommy's in the puck and don't. Right? They're like awful. If you want to fuck me, I just I need the money. I mean, it was just and Tommy being in charge was like added to the craziness of David Taylor used to you, see the white trash man took. You took your money as you walked in. He's down coordinator. Oh, my treads, David. It can't do that. The only thing saving your skin color. Got up, bring that up mean any would he would throw the curtains together so angrily because he used to keep the curtains open. Now he would close the Taylor would rip them the shrimp smoke some up pack with burger. Mitch Tomi up past looking guy. But I mean, just having him in charge is like adds to the insanity, like Tommy was the airi'q Anderson and Jodie and Adam all rolled up into one. He was the guy. What's weird is it's gotten back to when I started when I started town coordinator, it was hard to get to them now. I mean Adam's accessible, but not it's brutal still. He'll just like the guy that when I got there with Scott day Scott day was there for seven years at that point. Like he was, I think I worked with him for two years. So he was, you know, five years in and then I worked with him for his last two years. But you know, he went through the eighties like the end of the eighties with it in the beginning of nineties. So he. He was kind of coming off the dies granison it was, but he would have to do things like fucking band, kinison and band dice, and then they'd be like fucking Scott day. They take it out on him with sure. Hammett's Mitzi. But now it's like Adam doesn't have its Mitzi. Or thing, but he does have. Yeah, I can't help you like just do that. What's day would do to like, dude, I can't help you Adams honesty. Yeah, like straight up. You can or can't do you, don't? I my favorite line that Tommy is to say, well, you know, fit into what we're doing here. What are you doing here? Do you mean comedy? Because you got to change what you're saying. You don't think they're funny, that's fine, but don't say you don't fit into what we're doing here. Oh, is my car? Okay. Outside we're gonna. We're wrapping up. Okay. I'm excited. But we're good till seven really. But I mean, I can't imagine what Adam goes. So I mean, I know either I I have no pull. And even when I worked for Mitzi I really had no pool. She wouldn't listen to me if I say, do you have to see this comic? She loved me because I didn't want anything to do with that shit. So it was she didn't. She didn't have to worry about what I was going to ask for. You know what I mean? I never ask, got him know. But comics go to mid eighties, bring her her favorite cookies. Or something bring music to try to get her to fucking like them to start helping, you know, and they'd be like, can you put a word from him like, no, 'cause I don't have a word people used to think that I got not only did I get them more stage time, but I would also get them no stage time. I'm like, that's not real. I never did any anything like that to mitt to your up any of the comics? I won't do it. I mean, I just think that. I just think that people don't understand. There's not enough spots as. That's right. Like Adam could whoever takes job after him and. You can never have another showcase again. And Adam still going to be like, okay, I've got two hundred comics worthy of one hundred spots. They're all on TV. Pepperoni. Ah, I've had people come up to me and you know. So's on the lineup funnier than them like, no, no, you're not. And that person's getting a one o'clock spot. One AM spot. You're not beating out the one AM or so. And he goes, I went in, I know Ian Edwards and I think I should go on earlier. I'm like, dude, you're out of your fucking mind, and he's a sometime or comic. Oh, because back to delusion sometime are deserves a samurai right across throat. Well, if you look at the lineups tonight, I'm going on a twelve fifteen. What I like to go on eleven fifteen. But I look at the lineup, it's I don't know who it is time particularly, but it's probably in Edwards rogue, and she has Chris porter, THEO van who should I people out of town like it's the weekend, but it still killer like, wow, I should be going on at about twelve fifteen. Let us put you in between Sebastian, but mitt to do shit like that. Like with Sebastian, she would put like he wasn't that great when he he was terrible. Actually when he first shift showcase and then she put him, he would put him like prime spots and people get pissed like this guy sucks. Why is he getting out of Mike? This guy sucks like this is her thing. It's her cloud. She's she, but she knew what she was doing. She was developing them, putting him behind comics could barely follow, which I think is fairly open. Let alone barely follow. But that's in a way would Adams doing now with like the door guys. And girls certainly making them do the cold open, which admittedly, tough spot. 'cause you're going up when people are not getting their drinks, giving their drink orders. So no one's really listening to you, you know, but that's gonna make them better comic taking bullets bullets making some of the late night comics follow. Strong comics, you know, better comic when I follow you because you kill that. I mean, I'm being completely. Yeah, follow somebody. That's good. I follow you a lot, but when you like. Like it's going to be on my toes tonight. No, because you're killing. Saying it's still people that are murdering, not all the time, but most of the time he keeps it a steady flow all the way to the end. Oh, yeah. I mean, it's the perfect, but you know what I mean? Like. But you know what I mean? Like people like I deserve that spot. I'm like, dude, persons annihilating. When those people are tired and fucking, you know, looking at their phones almost Uber's going to cause. And you got to keep their attention and keep them there. And then the people who park next door at the Qatar allot poses a two. So they're like, okay, it's one thirty. Five, I'll give Eleanor or who Jomar. Jack night, you know. Yeah, Jessica Michelle. Okay. They got five minutes at she not killing the fucking back end and I blew my car too. So. Well, Eleanor, I've got so much here on my legs from your dog for my dog. This is your pubic hair. This couch. This jerk off to has seen more s than just Scott in the mid eighty. Some good FM. All right. It's a nice place. I mean, I only day comics which what? What's all I'm around. It's all around to. I haven't dated a comic in a long time. I mean, my last three girls series girlfriends has been comics, but you know, I, I'm not. I'm not around lawyers, doctors. Oh, you date lawyers. I'm vibe person, so I would date anyone if I clicked with them. You know, like if you look at my last three girlfriends day, all three or so visually different from each other, just clicked with them for different. What's his type advertise? Everyone thinks like huge Tets. Elliott. Yeah. I mean, I know Don always kids me about, hey, you see their comic in the back. If this chair had tits, he would fuck it. But, but I've dated girls who were slender and you know, just click with again it. So you know what's next. I have shot. Oh, great. It's possible. You're like a sister. I know you're hot to me, but it's just gross. Like it's too close. So. Don't you think though there's so many people that like people like you go on the road and you could be guys comics and don't, you know STAN share in a room and I'm like, Yep, it thoroughly not real. Give it your so highly regarded in the comedy world with comics like you're right, and I think I'm in the same boat. We're comics comics. Yeah, which is sometimes good. Sometimes back then is the industry we're not industry rise? Yeah, delay delays an industry comic Unired. As predator. Did you know that he told Santino you should grow his hair like still Leah. And this was the guy in charge, but he's also the guy Santino with his long red hair. It told me once you got to move around on one of my, I'm not saying I'm like, I, I'm like Steven, right? Like I'm stationary for the most part. The mice in the UAE. Likes. I hate him if I love him, but I hate them meaning I hate him like the kids say, I hate you because that's funny. I wanna go. I. We're gonna problem with them the fucking guy, and I don't hate on the people who didn't have a problem with them. Like, you know, he liked Willie on her. Great. Like, you know, easy. Just fucked with you. That's all I thought it was unnecessary. It is unnecessary. Like if you don't like my comedy or whatever. Just tell me. I'm just standing because my legs are getting. What like going back to what I like about Adam is. When he took over. I think everyone was telling you gotta pass her. He's the guys. He's here the longest. He's fucked over by. And Adam just came up to me and it was like, dude, I know everyone loves you. I'm going to showcase you, but if you don't do well, I can't pass you. I wouldn't have wanted to be passed because I had, you know. Honorary Passey. We have a lot of those. Right. Like you know, the comedy star counting. You know, certain. He showcase for Mitzi. He had a good set. Well, anyone's capable, having a good. And that's the thing that's the problem. She passed a lot of people, but then she stopped giving them spot. 'cause she realized what it was so well, I mean, I just wish Tommy would have been hated. There's just too many people up here. Just been a little honest where I think Adam is, and people get mad at him for being honest. But to combat, I've seen Adam essentially say long. These is what you do isn't for me. There's probably, but I would rather have had time say that, yeah, no, I get it. So where can now next week you're at the laugh actually in Vegas, actually Vegas and, oh, look at this mirror with the great Mike favor. Mun Mike favor men and there's one other comic we'll be telling pig story hollow. I don't know. There's somebody. I think so. But anyway, the first second, third headlining in Vegas. It's very exciting and I get to work with my favorite, which is amazing, but also October tenth and eleven at the Balasko theater while women of wrestling, I will be doing the announcing comedown guys season girls wrestle. They're phenomenal downtown Blasco theater. You can come get you tickets, you know you sit next right next to MRs Stallone jelly. Yep, it'll be really Jeanie Buss is part of it killer. Yeah, we got good Frank Stallone on the podcast friends of Frank you, I'm gonna get you Frank. I'm Frank b, but he's hilarious fascinated by him how you could be related to probably legit the biggest star of our time. This is Frank. He's got an Oscar, what for his accuracy than staying staying alive. That's his music. He's fucking brilliant. Just a mental case. That's crazy though that your brother's films have made literally over billions. I get it. Yeah, he's definitely. I mean, that's my brother. I mean, that's my pseudo husband Stallone fan. Okay. Sly. Nobody can talk shit about sly sometimes fight with Ricky Ingram 'cause he says, rocky stinks and beat him up one day and we'll see what happens. But I might get Frank to come on the podcast just to piss. No, you're probably podcast. Offer it because we only do comedy, regulars stuff. But I'm sure he'll do dice cast because him and dice are very good friends. And when I was dating dice, I'd be like, who singing and he's like, this is Frank Stallone. He has like thousands of this out there. His music is really good. He's back was like big song and dude it do. Listen. Get me wet, not on this couch. Listen this couch, I'm going to sell it when I move. It's going to go on EBay. And if you put a blue light to this couch, it's going to light up like the Vegas strip. Earl, you're not in my pussy. Oh, sorry. Where can people find you on Twitter and Instagram? J. Kerrigan or Eleanor Carrigan. I don't know what I grew up in a typewriter store, but I think it's EJ Kerrigan EJ Carrigan EJ. G. a. and eleanor's. Literally one of my favorite people on the planet. She's funny become fan. I mean, just real like he got to be a real life sucks. I mean, you don't have to be a phony Palmer. Do you like that? Thank Challe adopted. Your funk shows real deal. He's, you know, there's a new helix booth girl. No, keeping young girl. I like I just the white pink pussy boy. Looking at this girl just gone. Just keep your head down here and just Funkhouser how you saying fungal. I thought it was fun. Gel might be right. Just looks like something like that. Mr. shod at a couple of years ago, watch out. I think he died in the first Rambo, move it. Not that it's over. Inappropriate Errol soundcloud and I tunes but also into the comedy store podcast with Eleanor and Rick Ingram where they and it's kinda cool. They only interview paid regulars at the comedy store, which is we go out of the realm, comedy store associates, and where can people find that tens and all that? Yeah, it's all things comedy network. And it's, I tuned sound Clough all that shit. I don't know. Ain't it all the same. Who knows? I'm podcast in it comes up. I'm not on a network. I'm rogue, which is great. You're smart. Well, not really. I will say if I was on a network, I would go to all things. Great. They're nice people there. I mean, they are like they keep it real. Yeah, so inappropriate. All sounds loud nights follow Eleanor Carrigan we got Tom green coming on next week. FREDDY. Got fingered. And as von Johnson, the new, I think he's an LA guns and faster pussycat. He's not fucking around time. I second best friend, Tom green. Oh, so maybe one day bring it up.
