"Not going to perform. I think them keeping Brian hartson is only a bad PR move. It's a bad move for the game. They will not win more than 8 games and the SEC, you can't get away with that. So that's my thoughts. I want to hear your take on it. But I just don't think they're going to win with the codes like that. Your player not happy, they won't perform. Well, Parker, the only way that they're going to change the dynamic is if something happens from within and have they missed that opportunity already. I think we need to hear from we need to hear from auburn in something other than prepared statements. I mean, I would just Sinclair the air. Get everybody up there at the table and say, yeah, we tried to fire the guy, but we didn't. But we love him now. I mean, I just want to hear something out of harsh and I want to hear something out of the administration. And right now, crickets. Thank you for the call. Let's check out John in mobile Alabama. Hello, John. Hey, Paul, how are you? Thanks for taking my call. Thank you. Hi, I got a question. Seriously, as an Alabama alum. Watching this horse and thing closely. I don't know if there's any way this could have turned out better for us than the way it did. Auburn street biggest rivals or self explanatory, Georgian Alabama. Those are the two top programs in America right now. And the only way that was going to change is if auburn had a dynamic coach. And I think a lot of people, as you heard in that last call, were concerned about you freeze. If you freeze, has a petition. That's a multiple leaning word. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? No, I didn't want to see you freeze in there either. Been fired Friday and you freeze introduced this week. The dynamics of the SEC west would have started changing immediately. Because she freeze can recruit. He would have brought in a staff and unfortunately for auburn, they're no better off than they were the other day, other than the president of auburn. It doesn't have to leave office with a black cloud over his head. He's back to retirement. He doesn't care. What does he care? What happens? The new guy can worry about it. Well, it's funny. I always thought that once pat died that they figure out a way to step down, but I guess I was wrong. Well, I'll tell you what, though, John pat die played a big role in retirement, I always felt pat died talk some sense into these boosters because he did understand football and they leaned heavily on him. Now, do I think pat dye would have been a fan of Brian harsen? No, absolutely not. Yeah. Yeah. Pat died liked. Pat I liked he liked hardcore football coaches who talked the same language that he spoke who understood what it was like to get to have been through what he went through. He would have loved Kevin Steele. And that's why those guys like Kevin Steele. Brian is in Birmingham and you are next up. Hey Paul what's happening? Brian. How are you, man? Brian, we are doing great. Thank you. Well, listen, I moved to Birmingham and 2001. I started listening to you then over the years, characters have been coming gone. Man, listen, legend. I can't take this guy anymore. I can't take him anymore. Listen, you know, he's got his whole backstory about the NFL and an inmate love that black. And then, you know, and then he calls in one day and he's crying. And he's virtually in tears. And I mean, it's just all smoke and mirrors, man. This guy, he had his, he had his little talk show where he did like car repair stuff. Do you remember that? Sure. And so I mean, where is that now? Well, I don't understand why legend, I don't know. Why does she get such a high place in your roster of characters and callers? I do not get it. This guy. I mean, come on. East coast black hat. Okay. All right, thank you. Hey, Brian, seriously. Legend is an agent.

"I feel like we've done a good job with our kids. I think we need to be out here down in the southeast part of the state. You'll never have to convince Mark Rose of the need for football. He played for the legendary coach Pat Dye at Auburn. He's been a high school head coach for 23 years. He's currently at Russell County High. And he was the fifth fastest in Alabama TTO win 100 games, So it's notable when Rose says kids shouldn't be playing during a pandemic. Yeah, I mean, it's flat out child exploitation. Of course, kids want to play. But we are charged to protect them, and he can't Rose says because of a lack of testing. Kids get tested when they show symptoms. But in the state High School Athletic Association's Covad protocols there's not a testing policy, and that he says, is reckless and dangerous. We're breaking every rule that every doctor in the world says. We're not going face to face school. We're running players into each other all week and send them home untested. And then on Friday night, they want us to go out there and run them in 100 of our sideline and 100 on the other sideline. And All we know is that nobody out there have been tested. Rose says an asymptomatic outbreak on his team landed a 33 year old assistant coach in intensive care for nearly two weeks and sickened a player's mother. The risk of spread is greater, he says, in his rural county, where many of his players live in multi generational homes. I guess What Coach Rose would like to do is we have a state or some entity, paper, the testing for all the students and the coaches. Ron Ingram is Thea's assistant director of the Alabama High School Athletic Association. That would be admirable. If the funding was there. It's not in Alabama or most other states. Ingram says. Alabama acknowledges the risk of football and Corona virus. Believes it can be mitigated with safety protocols and he hands they still need to figure out whether football is the potential spreader. Mark Rose fears right now we don't have enough data to say that playing football upset really? That same teenager if he goes to the local McDonald's on a Friday night with his friends. That same risky still goes back home to the same parents into the same grand parents. If its data they're waiting for its coming, says Dr Michael Shingles. He's on a sports medicine committee advising high schools in Michigan, which yesterday reinstated high school football after earlier canceling it for the fall. We're gonna have ahh German in the United States right out because their states They're going to do this whole states. They're not going to find out probably in the next couple months from people getting sick and having major issues Mark rose in Alabama would rather not have high school football players and their families be in his words. GUINEA pigs, Rose says he doesn't speak for officials in this school district. But he does for many other coaches who fear losing their jobs if they speak out. Rose was bracing for a showdown when he made it clear he would not coach his team tonight in their season opening game to protest playing without testing. But this week the virus intervened. One of his players tested positive, possibly exposing as many as two dozen teammates practices or shut down. Tonight's game is off, and Rose says it's uncertain when his Russell County Warriors will play football again. Tom Goldman. NPR news This's NPR news. I'm Josh Barrow, host of left, right and Centre. "We, we have a giant hot doll like everybody shoots t shirts. And, and, and so, so let people just absorb. Doesn't have that right. Dan? All suits tastes. This as there's a lot of programs out there on the one is the show where they shoot t shirts out of a hat now. Right. So, you know in one is done, and the crowd starts screaming. Turn it up. Right. You probably shouldn't do you remember that? In the south, there's phrases that always precede an incident. Hold my beer. Watch, this are turn it up. And so a lot of them are followed by a news article that says Florida, man dot dot dot right? So in this case, the crowd wanted us to shoot the t shirts further so, so. They would have gone, we just had it done. I mean it's shit is wrapped just perfectly. So it comes out, well as the great, Pat dye said, former coach of Auburn hindsight is fifty fifty. Yeah. You can have that. Sounds say gas. That is fifty twenty. Forty percent. Sure. Hey, you get to shooter. So, so we did turn a check and guys. There was a problem with the hotdog shooter. We're going to make the rickandbubba door. Great again. It's going to watch what happens because this is going to be the number one hot dog shooter this, I'm going to stop right there. About five or part was you were tickled at your thought of Trump's. Because it's a t-shirt shirt shooter. It wasn't even trying to get that wrong. That was just a nobody driving the bus again. And I'm awake. To make a long story even longer even longer is that we did turn it up. And when I turn to fire to the upper deck of the theater turned it up. I fired right through the gift from Germany to the city of Hattiesburg in rained glass down on the audience nearly slicing and killing members in audience and for a minute, we thought the whole thing was coming down by the grace of God. It did not. And in this is why we always love promotional seats that are given to city officials that hate rickandbubba are the show is coming to town, most of the glass, by the grace of almighty God landed on the few seats that were not being used that promotional given to the theater. Now, one God did stand in line afterwards, which was shocking to get his shirt sign that was ripped down the back with a slight cut one of the knobs that fell from the ceiling did all the way down. Yes. Las assured all the way down nearly cutting him. This really explains. When I said that to the people for lasts for life. I said, I'm going to do the Rick and Bubba show tomorrow. They went oh, that's exactly. Have you ever been in a place where you're trying to make something bad better? Everybody seems to be onboard. But if you people and we thought we had it turned around, and there was a really really, there was just this little group, over there that still wore a frown and concern in those were the people that actually own the theater, they, they never thought it was funny as we did. But rake seriously who, who would think that just cloth the tonight in a T shirt would put a whole glass. I didn't think when you bundle it like a diamond and shoot. It had a few faces type on still. I don't know who's bringing you in, but we decided that year that we would be promoter, and we would be the people actually doing the show and let me tell you this catastrophic insurance you buy for the evening is worth every dime. Well, let me just say this, this is put on by lasts for life, which is cancer research, and all that kind of stuff, and it's just going to be a better show than what you guys. I have I don't have a t shirt. I've never wanted. Pretty good show, usually cypher. Okay, I'm fine with that. Better better. But I thought I wanted to tie your level of excellence in terms of programming. And I wanna beat you in safety. That'll be easy. Top of the first versus North Carolina. Yeah. Le-. Let me say this Frank. When you come out, I'm going to beg people Hagberg screened. Turn it up. Save it for the end up. Yeah. I think in the words of Charles Barkley optic, terrible idea. You guys have a lot of good ideas in the past. But this is one of the worst ideas of occur imam car. Never want to say turn it up to rickandbubba that's ver ver a bad idea. When two men that when you say turn it up in, in, in the up, do gotta. You understand this? There's some type of lizard brain or something like that. Maybe Elizabeth person brain to get the bubble. You look at what's going on. And these guys cannot control themselves, if just going to be what it is. And it's going to be a lot like what? A lotta over and fans I got never gotten to come to a game that, you know, they know oven through God, Brandon. And, and he does a great y'all been. He's a great man on top of it. Then, and we don't. And but. That was probably the reason I wanted to talk to you. I got several of racist. I one of them is what's that guy's name down in Florida? Might pike Bianchi. Yeah. You know, it's interesting, you, you're Georgia player in I've been watching SEC football along with it. He is old. I, I went to my first SEC football game between Georgia Alabama and nineteen forty nine in the school is fourteen to seven I. I make my sister look it up. And make sure I'll try on the school, but fourteen seven Alabama, one in San Francisco. And because I. You know, I never went to Jacksonville but I played in the game three times and, and followed the Joey Florida game forever and it's it's just another home game for far and they can talk. Now Jacksonville when I played down there, that was was just a big southern country town, mass a metropolitan area, and with a protein sitting now that you got to compete with, but his his my take on visit this. How many I'm in his face was Florida stadium home? Yeah. I would say pretty close to it. Yeah. And Georgia the same thing you absolutely. How many how many hold in in Jacksonville? I'm guessing we can look it up, probably sixty five thousand. Is that how that's usually what it, okay? That's that, that saves playing his home in home. Here's the other thing. What about the students? What about the students, you know, they, they allot to students take, it's because the big money donors. Get the tickets to the to the Georgia Florida game. When his played in Jacksonville when you play it at home every other year. All of them, but about ten thousand of them eight thousand seven thousand whatever the Byzantine brains. The rest of them are going to go to Georgia students, and Joe your season ticket holders, which is big, and they trying to draw people and keep people on season-ticket list. And, and they, you know that game every other year home, it will have a Mendes impact played coach at sixty sixty seven thousand and I want to ask you, because I mentioned the story earlier, and in, in the mid eighties, you took a daring stand about moving the iron bowl and a lot of people, including myself. We're, we're very critical, but it turned out to be one of the great greatest moves of your ten year as head football coach and athletic director. Well, paul. Look when I did it. Dumb. I knew it was going to help Alabama as much as it has over. Then he helped all different way. But it it made Alabama upgrade facilities in Carr's because they played over a big games in Birmingham and coach Bryant played them in Birmingham posed by five thousand students go. The perma ham sale another seven eight thousand seasons..

"Every every case is different saving has has attracted a lot of great talent and many have gone on to head coaching positions. Dabble has I mean dab dab behind at least one or two maybe more head coaches, but it's a different atmosphere, and you know, for all of the greatness of Nick Sabin. And I think that's been well established the truth is he can be challenging to work for. And you have to have a certain mindset, and you have to be willing to take what you get for the reward, which is playing for him usually winning chat championship and maybe getting a better opportunity. And I think right now, it's a very critical moment for him. And I don't know how it's going to turn out. But he's already lost a couple of systems one's gone to a head coaching position. Brent key left today to go back to his alma mater, which is a lateral move. And you can understand that Gaddis who was a big higher last year from Penn State has departed for a promotion, and they're still it's still to be determined. So he. He made come very close at the end of this episode to a almost a complete overhaul in a year, which which is dangerous when you talk about any continuity whatsoever in your on in and on your staff. I think so also just linked. As a model, you know which program because there are so many advantages day either program. We're splitting hairs these are the two programs in the country. But I think with Alabama the standard is so high. I mean, we are having a a conducting an autopsy on a program that was fourteen no at seven thirty Monday night going to the national championship game. By the way, all these comparisons. They're making that to coach swinging Cosi. But I don't really think there's any fair way to do that, you You know. know? I mean, it's I've been on a cloud by himself. But the difference is Daboh is is significantly younger and has tremendous upside. And I will tell you this. I covered the end Paul Bryant's tenure as one of my first big responsibilities as a reporter. And he was sick. He was sixty nine years old. But what also hurt him his last year or two was staff turnover. The rumors of his age working against him competing in-state against a younger aggressive coach who his blueprint that was Pat dye bring that up because Kirby smart in JIMBO Fisher, no the blueprint as well. Especially Kirby and it presented some issues for him. And he lost one or two very key players Embo Jackson, by the way, wasn't the one that everyone thought was going to hurt him. He lost another player who grew up in. Alabama fan. And when he committed to Auburn, those name was Ben Tamburello a lot of people saw that that was the line of demarcation turned out to vote Jackson beat him in his final Auburn game. And again, he died a month after he retired. So you can't use this as a sound comparison. But that's usually would get a good coach. And I'm not suggesting saving anywhere near the end. Although he's had a pretty bad week. I think the it was a great game for both coaches. But I think. The landscape is changing a little bit as far as. Atmosphere, you know, white, plus go Peres to send your kids to watch absolutely for assistance willing to stay because of the the con nudie the whole thing, you know. And I I don't know why I want to say that. But you know, I've been watching you show. Daboh and you watch that scene at the end of the game. And everyone's hugging everyone's family. And and.

"For dabble. You play the game September October November. I'm taking Alabama by two touchdowns, especially if to healthy that was the most dominant regular season in SEC history. That was not a Mirage. Okay. Now, what happened on that night in January out there in San Jose? I had to see it to believe it. I was right there. I still can't believe it. But you know, I can say kudos to Clemson. They were the better team that night, but don't take anything away from what anything away from Alabama. But when you have that great season. In goes awry in the final game, it's hard to remember just like just like Josiah lash Giorgos bowl and on the SEC. But who's talking about that just like Georgia this year? I mean that was an issue wasn't quite Georgia last year. No, they weren't same team. I would agree. There was more talent. There was those NFL running back, but you know, what Jake from evolved into a better quarterback this year than he was last year. I like the receiving core better this year than I did last year. I thought they were deeper, and I also thought that the secondary was the best secondary in the country. And I thought that's what they did against Alabama was special turns out all you had to do was have a guy like Trevor Lawrence thrown on third down and not trying run out the clock. When you get the lead that will put the pedal down in the third quarter. That was the difference in that game probably a lesson. That Kirby smart learned probably my good to talk to you. Thank you very much. Appreciate all my griffis. Joining us from Athens. We will get to your phone calls in a moment at eight five five two four to seven to eight five listening to Paul finebaum shield. Gashed back here on what's already been pretty entertaining show. Glad you're with us. Todd is up next. Go right ahead bow. But thank my call. Hi, little Fant let down though, the not coat of. Doing what he done who talking about Todd about Nick Sabin? Right. Oh, what a little baby powder with his arms folded, and we would go for full of down with put in the wild. And we picked up ever a first down we needed. We'll get out on the go. You don't put him in. And he just get away. Do hold on a second. Did you just? Did you just call Nick Sabin pissing? Well, he's your acted like one. He said milk and that ten million dollars salary year doing nothing. He's the one that's got complacent. I mean. I mean Todd hold on a second. My. Alabama was fourteen in ogling into that game complacent. Well, let me tell you this offsetting over one and star players, and they hailed us to lose ten. To ten weeks there. What was the final score? Do you? Remember, I don't remember. I was just so disappointed. But I was in Kansas that that and somebody else where were you know, we see tickets, but I expect more out of him. Just. He he ain't hungry anymore. I mean, the final final score the Senator getting was fifty two seventeen. How they're number two players. The final score was fifty two seventeen high. Also tell you story alabam outscored citadel forty two seven in the second half. Well, we shirt him. Look good into did. I mean, Nick Sabin. I mean, listen, I I would agree that saving was. Brutally out coached by Davos weenie. But that's no reason to call them piss ant in December. And probably bail derby out over there with that going. That you'll import down then he bailed Kirby right out that stupid favorite. Now. He'd made. But hey, I wanna tell you still about Darryl. If you got time how I got all the time you need, but fell listen, you know, I raise a few rope horses, but we buy from this man it will Bill Duffy's bird hunt with at that Well, barrel. barrel goes over by the horse fakes him home, and he won't drink water polish joke.
