"Just say goes against the current trend of fuel efficiency and the switch to electric vehicles. WTO car guy, Mike parris, joined Dimitri for a review of this new truck. If you've ever watched it, like ESPN late at night you see these trophy trucks at the Baja 1000 and that's pretty much what this looks like. It's got big fenders, 35 inch tires, and oh yeah, 702 horsepower from a supercharged V8 engine. And how did that handle for you? Well, you know what? It's insane. Something this big should not be that fast. And it's loud and it's brash and it's in your face, and it's definitely definitely not gonna win a green car of the year award, but yeah, it's definitely a lot of fun to drive. But it does cost a lot of money to gas. I did about ten miles per gallon for the week I had it. And then not to mention, not just what you're paying to fill the gas tank. What do you pay for the vehicle itself? Starts around 85, $86,000. You add some options, quickly at a 101 $102,000. And you can go higher too. So it's definitely not a cheap ride to buy or to run. Setting aside the appearance and the power, how did it work for you as a pickup truck to haul things? Well, it does want to pickup truck should. You can tell lots of stuff in the bed. It'll tow a lot. And the ride is surprisingly luxury car nice. It has a trick suspension, these electric shocks, and you know what? It really turns a big tough gruff pickup truck into a luxury car that takes up the entire lane wherever you drive. And so when you were behind the wheel, maybe you occasionally forgot it was a truck. That's how quality the interior is. Yet, again, tears very nice, a lot more luxury. It does cost about $10,000 to make it this luxurious, she gets a nice leather. You get the heated and ventilated seats both front and rear. And there's lots of space. It's a pickup truck, a four door pickup truck has lots of space. So you can definitely spread out and definitely leathers everywhere on this vehicle. What did you like the most? Well, you know what? This is a truck for insane people like me would buy this thing. It's just plumb awesome. It looks cool. It dries fun. Those are definitely pluses on it. On the minuses. I feel economy is atrocious. Ten miles per gallon. It's hard to park in tight spots and if you can find one good luck because this Emmy supercharged engine is going to be going away soon. So it's not going to be too many more of these 700 horsepower vehicles running around the streets. So far, it's not super slow, but it does look like it is beginning to get a little crowded, a few more vehicles hitting the roadway here this early Sunday morning. So far, the delays again minimal, but the far right hand side of the roadway is still blocked as you make your way towards the anacostia river bridge. Once you get past the bridge, though, you're completely up to speed continuing into Maryland, westbound side doesn't seem to be affected either. Southeast southwest freeway, that's three 95 and 6 95. Both completely up to speed not seeing any delays, no crash is no incident so far. Third street tunnel looks good. Any issues that we had in the tunnel itself has cleared. So far, New York avenue, other than the crash out near the anacostia river bridge, is running nicely as well. I want to take a look down in Virginia because we're just seeing this come across our screen. It looks like they're talking about it on the scanners now. If you're headed on the northbound side of I 95, they are looking for an accident scene right by the exit for lorton road looking for it in camera now, 66, so far looking pretty good, not seeing any delays. As you make your way from an asset all the way to the beltway. Looks like I have found that crash on I 95. It looks like it's actually northbound on 95. On the ramp in the ramp to route one, if you often take route one route one from I 95 northbound, you know that there's almost an access road of sorts that takes you onto route one, and that's where that crash is. So if you're at a northbound 95 and you're planning on taking route one, watch out over on the far right shoulder as well as on the left shoulder, they do have crash activity stay towards the center and do slow down a little bit as you make your way past these vehicles. "It's three 40. Now the WTO car review of a new Cadillac SUV called the XT four. Car guy, Mike parris, telling Dimitri sodas. Yeah, we looked at the big Cadillac Escalade, not too long ago. And this is the smallest SUV they make. The XT four seats about 5 and you know what for a tiny subcompact crossover. It's a lot of space in there. You can put adults up front and in the back and they'll have plenty of leg room, both places. And the hatchback to plenty of room for luggage or whatever your hauling around. It's about the average size for the class. There are some with larger cargo spaces in this class for about the same money, but then the passenger space is really hard to beat in this little Cadillac. How's your mileage? You get about 26 miles per gallon from the two liter turbo engine. It does okay power wiser, some others in the market that's better, but it does okay and if you do a lot of highway driving, you'll definitely see about 30, 31 miles per gallon if you're easy on the gas. What do you think about its appearance? Do you think it blends in a little too much with other cars or once you see that medicine grill do you realize, yes, this is a Cadillac. You can like really had to do something to kind of get their name out there and the looks really will get you into the door because they're very sporty and almost new age are looking compared to some of the slightly conservative style crossovers in this market. I'm seeing that you can maybe get out the door for closer to $40,000 than 50,000, although I'm not sure how many toys you get on that lower end. And you know what? I think that's where the Cadillac will shine. Those who are easy on the options list can definitely drive out for $45,000 or so. And get a nice vehicle, the one I had was about 55,012 $1000 of options. And it really didn't make sense for all that money for what you get for the money. So I think basically if you're easy on the options list, this is a fine vehicle. If not, look around that the others in the market that might give you just as much for maybe a little bit less. Let's finish up here with the pros and cons. What's the best thing about it? What is something that they need to work on? So for the size, the space inside is very tremendous. It's a big check mark if you want a small crossover that's easy to drive in this city, but you don't want to very big vehicle that's hard to park. This is your vehicle. And when the minus is yeah, the interior's nice, the seats are great. But a lot of the trimmings around it seem a little bit low dollar for a Cadillac. You definitely want to weigh the pros and cons on what you're looking for and then

Car guy Mike parris says it has sports car like acceleration and some tricks up its sleeve. Those include a front trunk or frunk and the ability to double as a power source. Yeah, so the frunk you hit a button and it pops open and you have a lot of dry storage where the engine used to be. So you can store things in there and of course the cabin is very, very large. They can store things in there. So lots of dry storage, something you don't really have in a pickup truck all the time. And yeah, you can power your work site. You can power your home if you're out of power. Some knocks on the lightning include diminished range when towing and hauling also, there's a lot of demand right now, so it's not easy to get your hands on one. "The WTO car review, although that engine starting up is not really needed this week, we are reviewing the new Ford F one 50 lightning, a large pickup truck that is all electric. WTO P car guy, Mike parris talks with us here about the pros and cons. He says, the vehicle is the future. So the lightning is definitely your Ford F one 50 minus an engine. It has a couple of electric motors that provide all wheel drive and lots of power if you get the dual motor version about 470 or so horsepower. Diesel like torque over 700 pounds feet of torque, so this thing will get the work done until about 10,000 pounds, which isn't as much as the regular F one 50, but it's pretty darn good. It has the nifty thing inside where the gear lever will fold down, you can pull open a table and you can type on your computer or fill out a proposal or whatever you need to do. So it's very user friendly vehicle still. You just don't have to stop for gas. You plug it in when you need to charge it up. We were just doing a story in the newsroom that Montgomery county is trying to get up to like 600 charging stations. Just one example of our area trying to build that infrastructure. Did you struggle to find a place to charge up? It can definitely be a struggle. This area is getting better than other areas if you go outside the state, it can be darn tough to charge your vehicle, and that's one of the considerations you'll need when you're looking at this vehicle because if you're telling with this vehicle, you have to charge it more often, so you really need to know where the charging stations are and then when you get there, you hope it works. Does it work and does it charge up quickly? There are some vehicles that charge up faster than this, so or some vehicles might be able to give you an up to 80% charge in 15, 20, 30 minutes. You might be setting for 45 minutes or so to get the same charge because it only charges at about a 150 kW instead of some that do up to 350 kW. Can we forget about plugging it into the garage overnight in an old fashioned outlet? Well, you can plug it in there. You're just not going to get much bang for your buck there. You'll get a couple miles here and there, maybe ten miles out of it. The best thing is to have is to have a professionally installed 240 application, where you can charge the vehicle overnight and by the time you get ready to go in the morning, you're pretty much fully charged again. So definitely you need at least the level two charger to make this worthwhile or you're going to be paying more when you go to charge at one of those faster stations. No, pickup trucks will cost a lot of money in general. This didn't seem to be more expensive though than another F one 50. Am I right? Well, you're paying about the same price for an upper level Ford F one 50. With a lower level. So if you want the extended battery range, that's like $10,000 option. So yeah, it definitely you're going to get a Ford F one 50, but it just won't have all the fun toys you might pay for the same price for a gas version of the vehicle. And roughly we're talking between like 50 grand and 70,000. Yeah, you're starting about $55,000 when you want the dual motors with the extended range batteries. You're quickly an extra $10,000 there and more options. And I've been getting some emails from people who read the article so far. They said, well, you can't really get the lower versions right now so much. They want you to buy one of the higher trim level versions that cost more money. So I'm not really sure about that, so you'll have to talk to your own dealer to find out about that. That's

"Shopping for a subcompact SUV, you have lots of options. In fact, you don't even have to buy an SUV. There are hatchbacks that offer the same utility and more sportiness. WTO car guy, Mike parris, recently drove the Toyota Corolla hatch and talked about it with John Aaron. So the Toyota Corolla XSE is kind of the top of the line, they're sporty looking version of the Toyota Corolla. So this has all the convenience and knife driving capabilities of a Toyota Corolla, but with more space with the hatchback design. Yeah, so with that hatchback, is it a legitimate alternative to an SUV? Well, yes, for one of these mini SUVs or we're starting to see around. It's about the same size, but you don't have to go quite as high up in there. It's easier to get in and out of, unless you're talking about the back doors, but other than that, it's very convenient, and it handles a lot better than a taller riding SUV crossover sport youth that we might see on today's market. What's the deal with the back doors? So they don't open very wide. So if you're a larger person, if you're on the basketball team, you're gonna have a hard time getting those legs through the door and out of the door when you get out. So just be careful and watch your noggin too. Yeah, I sat in one at the auto show. I told you about this I put the front seat back where I wanted it, and there was like no leg room in the back for any passengers there, unfortunately. That's kind of the rub on the compact or subcompact vehicles that it's great up front, but once you get into the back seat, it's a little bit tight. All right, so if you've decided that this is the right car for you or could be the right car for you, what else should you consider in this segment? Mazda, the Mazda three is a little bit more upscale, but yeah, costs a little bit more money. And even a Subaru, where are you gonna get all wheel drive from the Impreza? So some people may not know this, but there is a version of the corolla coming out that's like a hot rod corolla as if that was a sentence you would ever put together, and you're gonna get to drive this soon. Tell us about it. Yeah, so if you want a fire breathing hot hatch for the family, how about 300 horsepower for a little car that the one we drive here is about a 160 horsepower. So it's gonna be a lot more fun. It's gonna handle better and it's gonna cost you a lot more too. Yeah, if you can find one. Good luck. "News. Lower taxes for some veterans and free healthcare for National Guard members. Those are a couple of proposals from former U.S. Army captain and now new Maryland governor Wes Moore. He's asking state lawmakers to exempt all retired veterans and their survivors from state taxes on the first $25,000 worth of military retirement income this year in the years after it jumps to $40,000. This is going to represent the largest shift that we have seen in the way that the state of Maryland taxes its military benefits in this state's history. To be able to ensure that members of our National Guard and their families are seen and protected more says he'd like to give free medical and dental care to members of the Maryland National Guard and to their families. And even the driver has a virtual copic now, pretty much if they're disposable. So the screen pretty much goes from the left hand door all the way to the passenger's door. So it's just a lot of screen. And there's even night vision. So if you're driving at night in the city, it'll see the heat signatures of people and kind of warn you, it'll put you in yellow if you're getting close, red, and start to even stop the car if you're getting too close.
