"He doesn't That's the old him. Alright, buzzer. They ran all those people out of town, then that under a shirt. They don't do that. That's that's Ah, That's just his on armed guard, thinking that I shouldn't call them cheaters. I've sent you They had a good graphic on the broadcast about their batting averages, compared to what they were three years ago. I mean, you know these guys significantly down Springer is the only one who sort of kept his numbers in line. I believe that's who drove in the tying run as well. But Here. We will get to baseball, but I feel like we need to talk. Pat Mahomes, Chiefs 30 for 20. They beat the Ravens. We wrapped up yesterday's show. I think I said that. Lamar Jackson. Only one M v P because Pamela Homes got hurt. Excuse me, Patrick Mahomes. Don't call it fat Mama will get ahead. I don't want to offend them. Yeah, I think he's the best player in the league, and I think I said that I didn't consider it particularly close and not to pat myself on the back. But I think that game last night was a pretty good show case for what I'm talking about here. He's just I mean, look. He's really good, really, really, really, really, really, really bad homes is 385 Yards, four touchdowns. He rushed another one and Lamar Jackson get to get to him. Maybe his worst game as a professional. I'm sure he had some bad games as a rookie in there, But look, I don't even knock the Ravens that much because The Chiefs of the best team, All right, They're the best team in eyes that you're doing it and they're doing it on both sides of the ball, too. Fellas. Just Patrick Holmes is is is 75% of it, But that defense is playing really, really stout. Yeah, You know it is. It's not just my home's being the most talented player in the league, which I which I think he is. Yes, Tyreek Hill, Who's the fastest player in the NFL? And has Travis Kelsey, who is probably the best you know, past catching tight end out there on and Andy really walk ins, Merkley Hardman and all those guys Marcolini. I mean, that is speed all around him. Andy Reid is probably the best offensive architect in the history of the game and go into a home run with Clyde Edwards. Filaret looks like out of the backfield. Yeah, He's quick on his feet running the ball. And so, yeah, I think it is. I mean, we are on the verge of a maybe, like Michael Jordan type situation where I think Pamela Patrick Mahomes is just going to win the MVP every year that he stays healthy and I look, I know you two make arguments, something for Russell Wilson and other guys right now, But if you want to, you know who was the best player in football. It's Pat Mahomes, and I don't think it's close. I'll tell you. I even said it. Are we going to be disappointed with the lackluster performance? This was just you've always said is Lamar Jackson gonna get found out? I think last night was a showcase of Patrick Mahomes. Just doing Patrick Mahomes. Things making right backpedaling 10 yards and throwing it for 60 played a Tyree kill is unbelievable. How many guys put it like? Pen pointed like that in the we'd like it was nothing really threw one underhand that second shuttle pass audio Alabama side to watch if you like, five times because I was like what We just do there, honey, I think you just flexing their. Here's my hot take foryou. I went into that game thinking that if the Chiefs would lose one, it would be a close one. I think I called like it was only a three point game or something. But if the Ravens won, Okay right now, with that dominating of a performance I mean, I'd like to know there are some really others still great undefeated teams. But when do you start talking about barring having the Miss Games? Just when will this team lose this season? The with the Chiefs. I mean, there was there was overtime last night with the Chargers on They got a tough schedule to they have to play New England this week on and you know, it's the NFL crazy things will happen. I'm not saying that they're going to go, you know, 16 0 and or anything like that. But they're just all they're always going to be just said right there going to be the favorite in every game. It's not overtake just to be like they could run the table. What barring injuries and covert? Well, well, yeah, I mean, that's ah lot of variables in there, but here, let's let's talk for a minute. Gallimard Jackson, is this a Is this a problem? Is this that them for him getting found out? I think the difference between that game last night and a normal Lamar Jackson game. It's just a couple of deep passes. You know, they didn't hit any of them last night, and normally he, you know, coughed it up twice, right. But that is that's the problem with Lamar Jackson is when he's down two scores like when Russell Wilson is down two scores. I'm still afraid, Pama homes obviously watch the Super Bowl. If Lamar Jackson is down two scores. It's just like the playoff game with versus the Titans a year ago, right? Do you do you trust him to be able to come back in that situation? A time of lifetime Longhorn? Devon Duvernay doesn't run one back that scores even uglier. And and Lamar Jackson is the light has even shown on him even more, and that's it is. It appeared panic time when they got down in the SEC. Second half it was just It was panic time. And you're right about Devon Duvernay of Duvernay done. Run that back in my guy first one of the season. How crazy is that? In all of football that first. How crazy mean 3605 90. What do you think? By 1283605 90 We get to our top by bottom five. Lim. We return sportstalk just getting started..

"T. Y.. Hilton Marlin Mac Eric Hebron is just the red zone touchdown machine that he is adding Paris Hick near Paris Campbell to the drafts <hes> bringing in Devin funchess who have nothing else will be another big body to throw in the red zone. He was thrown to nobody's last year outside of T. Y.. Hilton so the Andrew Luck stock could be on the rise this year. Pat Mahomes numbers might come down just a little bit even with tyreek Hill in the fold <hes> so I I am kind of coming around. I agree with you there. In Tier One Andrew Lakhpat mahomes anything you want to add to that I love them. I love them both and has a lot to do with I had a little bit more more say in some of these tears than in previous ones and I think intellect deserves to be in the same tier just because what we saw from Pat Mahomes you know was a phenomenal season but not repeatable now pantyhose and still likely in the top three top four wide receiver as you mention even if you project PAT mahomes go down a solid ten touchdowns isn't me a top three wide receiver time I know he's I know he's good but I personal top appear quarterback who knows with his talent but he's likely going to be in the same range in terms of touchdowns if he just has a normal regression to wear Andrew Luck was Russia which is forty touchdowns ounce. Angela did throw a ton six hundred and thirty nine times last year. I don't know if you'll keep that up. They're still going to be a very you know. Pass heavy offense that might come down a little bit but more or less Angela was a piece. His Office of line is is just WanNa talk to you units in the entire league. He's got a running game his more weapons. I mean there's not too many offenses that you like more than the Indianapolis Colts at this point. No I agree and hey if you're if you're Pamela homes and aiding crazy happens with tyreek hill and you have Sammy Walk Ins. Who might you know get injured like he does every single year and your option is thrown to Damarcus Robinson or just throwing the ball to yourself alf he might be a top fifteen wide receiver relax relax all right here too and this is where we we got we got we got a curb or throwing in here to coming out guns blazing already uh-huh we have Aaron Rodgers Shawn Watson which should surprise nobody studs but a player that we add it to our tier two which I'm assuming we have him a lot higher than just about everybody else's Carson Wentz yeah so I think the first two quarterbacks are obviously you know rounding out the top consensus for Shawn Watson doing a lot with his legs? Aaron Rodgers definitely a lot of a bit more unknown <unk> but they keep adding weapons kind of around hymns in terms of some of these younger receivers now they're going into his second or third third season in the new head coach. You know can't do any worse than what Mike McCarthy was doing there. I take their defense of while some people are always believing that the the packers defensive going to play better. I just I can never get there just until I see it happen. There's still going to be a pass heavy offense and Carson Wentz. I mean top about the amount of weapons this guy is going to have. I don't think this is going to be a great fantasy situation for any position outside of Q._B.. But having Earth's I mean outside of maybe Earth's being consistent but they add in the Sean Jackson they add in J._J...

"And all that. But yeah, it's that is a that is the small market part of southern California there and he's buried as the number two team in that market. Meanwhile, I'm gonna go my number two. You said you almost went Janas I had to go Janas. I you know, I remember his rookie season. I I went to a game here in Charlotte and watch Milwaukee play the Hornets. And I did not know who he was. I vaguely remembered his name from the draft. I I was laughing with my buddy because you could hardly get the name on the jersey. I had no idea if the guy was announced. Correctly. But I knew this with that length in that athleticism. He was a star. He was going to be a star. And he is now he's twenty four. He's twenty four. Now thirteen years later will he be dominant at thirty-seven probably not, but he could be dominant at thirty four thirty five and with that body, and that athleticism and that length and an improved ability to shoot, I I would take on us. And I would go thirteen years. I would build a franchise around him everything he offers in the game. The likability the humility. I love this, dude. I would take he's my favorite player in the league right now. I would take Janas in a second to a thirteen year deal. He's my number two. Here the play last night where he basically just ran through someone from an one for Doug. He is. He's legit. Look, I was going to put them on here. But I wanted someone outside the box with Klay Thompson. Okay. My number one. I mean, so surprised we will agree. Yup. It's a pound Mahomes, obviously, I know him. Well, my brother plays to the chiefs. Look it's almost too early to talk about this with him because he's played one full season. But he the real deal in the pairing with Andy Reid and Pat Mahomes is part of this. Right. Pam homes with another coach. I know if we'll get the same Pamela homes, but he's left a lot of places on the field last year. If you look at his game, and I've said this throughout the lasts about six of the year after the bye week for the chiefs. They were not the same offense. And maybe it's cream hunt. I really don't think it was out. They got production from Williams where it running back. I just thought they want us, Chris they have they have a good way to go. Get this offense going to where they want one hundred percent efficiency. He's easily the guy that you give that contract to look probably not going to get full value out of that contract through thirteen years. I mean, he hit awkwardly next year things change. But as he has right now. He is the real deal. He's the next Tom Brady era Rogers, drew Brees. He's in that category of player thirteen years. Give it to him right now. Yeah, we agree there. So and by the way, this is this is Mike a our producer telling us, you're giving out thirty three thirteen year contracts. You got to find the guys to do it. Now. Would we for all these guys? I don't know. But if we have three and we're saying we have to give them out. You're gonna go Mahomes trout Klay Thompson, I'm gonna go Mahomes Janas and trout, you never know what you know, what never goes out of style..

"Imagine what that sounded like in the booth in Kansas City when they won the game, and Robert and Jonathan Kraft or hugging all over each other and the other son Danny craft who does a lot with the with the organization. Imagine what that was like, you know, what they were hearing all they were hearing was the cash register in their head. You know when used to watch cartoons, and they had the old push button cash. Register or the slot machine where you had to pull the lever in here. T to cheat. And it's just adding the money up like that's what I think happens in the mind of an NFL owner when their team goes to the Super Bowl because they know they're they they know they're just gonna kill it merchandise future ticket sales all that stuff. They just know the money is going to come rolling in. Well, everybody is got a lot of thoughts on not only the Super Bowl. What went down last weekend and the championship Brown? And of course, over time, which is now a controversy because New England one you can hit me up on Twitter. If can't get through on the phones at the real gresh GRE S h. Bekes in studio city. Saints fans are acting like the refs having been knuckleheads all season. Everyone knows your squad has to be up by least eight under two minutes or the zebras might blow like Tony Montana at a cocaine buffet. That's a good line at Don REEs sins in the NFL overtime should mirror. NCWA overtime. But they don't want to admit that the almighty has to cop to the underlying to changes to the overtime would be to start at the fifty and always have to go for two just seem so simple. But I'm sure Vegas has a hand in at all as well. Vegas. Does not have a hand in at all. In fact, now that I'm in a state where there is sports betting. There's no tie into the end of games in this stuff. I mean, people should just need to bail on that narrative. That's why Vegas and everyone can track the kind of betting action that goes on across the country. And if there's anything weird the pulling all off the board. And I'm not for putting pro teams on the fifty yard line. How that's a bigger change. Then a coin flip. And then a kickoff afterwards. We'll just put you at the fifty poll game that way. And again, they do it for college. Because it's a different set of circumstances for a hundred and thirty teams not thirty two proteins. And if there was a distinct advantage to winning the coin flip, then why isn't the record since two thousand twelve bigger for these teams that win the coin toss in overtime the overall record since two thousand twelve record for teams that win the coin toss in overtime fifty six fifty seven. Thank to Blake Mullen, actually sends in great conversation with that the real grass show the gresh show about overtime controversy in the NFL go listed on CBS sports radio well done. And I mean, the controversy is really only been created by. People who weren't happy with the outcome. I don't think Andy Reid said overtimes unfair. I think Pamela homes has said overtimes unfair. And we know NFL players will now speak their mind back to the phones..

"Oh, y'all give me the shore stuff. Oh, yeah. I don't want to y'all wanna take away everything deep while. I'm gonna go deep. I'm gonna show you. I can get the deep ball tons. Okay. Y'all wanna take a deep stuff? Okay. Bye. Guess what? We'll go five. We'll go down the field five and three yard at a time and get the fame result. If we were to go sixty are the one plane, I feel we feel that comfortable in what we do. Because normally team you like skip you wanted to drag this thing out the longer you go the more apt I can give sack. I get a tip ball. I can put about but the patriots such a great job of holding onto the football, and they don't beat themselves. So they'll go down the field. Tim plays twelve fifty plays. Plays the ball in the end zone where you need one or two plays. But they don't give you the big Trump plays is harder defensive teams guilt because they got to dynamic playmakers at the receiver position. They got tyreek hill, and they got traffic Kelsey, I call them and see what he the tide is who you take away. I don't know forget if you double those two guys that you really won't Sammy. Is going one on one with someone? I keep telling you Brady doesn't have tyreek. And he doesn't have a Kelsey. And he doesn't have a Sammy Watkins. So you've got three weapons that he doesn't have to have Viagra, and nobody nobody. And when Tom Brady was playing them. You didn't say the opposing quarterback didn't have grown or he didn't have a twenty nine year old Julian Ataman. But now I was lack when Brady had gronk, and he no longer really has. But did you make all I'm saying is that you didn't make that argument for the opposing quarter? Well, he added body in the past right where he doesn't have much of the receiving cores left in the play offs. I think you'd say this is probably the worst one when you again is there. Michael Thomas here New Orleans much after him. Right. But they have Ted Ginn junior. Brady would take Ted Ginn junior on Sunday night and be really happy with him play. He doesn't. The dome. Okay. So all the sudden how can Brady unless remember what is Kansas City. Do the best on defense. Thanks like they had the most Saxon league. Right. So they got Brady twice in that October fourteenth game and brillant stripped Brady on one one plane the third quarter and he lost a fumble. So they got a lot of heat on Tom Brady in patriots got no heat on Patrick Mahomes. So can they flip that script is hard to Russia? Gallic coach really rush guys like Pamela home because he got legs and he'll women you'll go down the field. He likes to get outside the coach coach take normally he likes to play straight down a man. Yeah. Let's keep everything in front of not nothing cheap. Nothing. And we'll see what happens then go sixteen yard drive in drive out and get the ball in the end zone. We'll live with that. But we just don't want to give it a big place. Now the tyreek skit skip. That's a very unique situation. Do just basically catch a fifteen yard pass. Down the field. He's feet hit the dirt and he pieces out to safety because there's too much separation between him and the db. Wow. So my takeaway is it's Tom Brady or nothing. It's just him alone. I don't know. So. How do you know how deep if played on Sunday? They did okay until the second half. When Philip rivers started doing what Mahomes did in the second. Happy started. Torching. Fill rivers through for to ten in the second. Guess what? The second half score was at Foxboro on Sunday. It was twenty one to six chargers. A route at halftime. And I know they just sat back and said we're not going to. Right. But they broke a bunch of times..

"Ryan all follow us on Twitter. I met Jeff Schwartz at the Ryan Hollins. I ride the chiefs. Finally, did it first playoff win at home in twenty five years old four Colt all-time in the playoffs. They won the game. They dominated from start to finish against the colts a colts team looked completely and utterly kinda shocked to be in the spotlight right yesterday. As far as the way, they played the chiefs came out with some early up twenty four seven halftime really toasted to finish this game out the culture of the late touchdown to make this kind of a respectable score. Look, I'm a cheese fan for those who don't know. My brother plays for the chiefs. I'm super excited for this outcome, and I guess all took was was Pamela, homes and. A paranormal investigator who went through the stadium Arrowhead and tried to to talk to spirits, and she realized by the way that. Bowl winning coach. Hey strand who's fired in nineteen seventy four was basically haunting. Haunting the stadium? Is she said he was ready to go. He was ready for the chiefs. Another win Mallard said who is the who is the the paranormal investigator. That'd be Vicky Mallard. And that's it's amazing. But she's fans will do anything to go ahead and win again. They finally have it the host of first AFC championship game. And I'll tell you a couple of quick thoughts about this game from my vantage point Andy Reid once again is the best coach designed the first fifteen plays the games the first fifteen plays. The game are typically normal down a distance. So they are when you kind of between the twentieth and the twenty s second and second down best NFL he came out and they went right after Indianapolis Indianapolis look slow out there on defense zone defense got eaten alive by Mahomes. It was expected the chiefs offense would do this. Well, defensively did not see that coming from the chiefs at home on defensive actually been fabulous. But statistically, they're not defensive. They don't really give it to the colts, by the way, number one of the National Football League. Converting third down. Thousand not convert third-down intil, I I don't wanna say even until the the the end of the first half like the to there. Two minutes to end the first half which zero point is vegetarian the field goal. Very impressive performance by the chiefs defense. Ryan is is you saw this game unfold. Were you surprised colts really no show on offense? No. I mean, listen a more. So surprised at Kansas City's defense played. So well, you know, they really wanna battle in the trenches, which obviously we all gave the advantage to was the colts. But I am more press with Andy Reid in the sense that I thought he played it safe was Mahomes. You know, he he relied on his stars. I liked that he handed the ball off the tyreek hill on a couple of jet sweeps. A guy were you know, instead of four Senate downfield. You just get the ball in his hands in Letcher stars come out and play in the playoffs. That's why you pay them. That's why they make the big bucks. That's why they got the big name. That's why you're there pro bowlers and you put the ball in their hands. And I thought that you know, in a sense. Correct me if I'm wrong, he kind of Dowd back the game plan from homes and just said let you know. Let's make the right play. If you gotta use your legs. Like you do. Well, probably the best in the NFL arguably that we've seen of just extending plays. He did that win needed. But I was just really nervous that he'd. The under pressure and be forcing balls now failed and especially in the snow. You know, they're able to ramp manufacturer some running game. But just really kind of kept the colts, you know, kind of off off ballots. This the locker ESPN radio Josh Schwartz in Ryan Hollins. No, you're you're exactly right. So the colts defense is is a high zone defense. They were the most zone coverage National Football League, they give up the most underneath Rosenhaus for football league. Almost like seventy percent of of of throws to underneath are completely against they want kind of bleed you out. They were since they're wonderful five stars since week six weeks six then only allow twenty possessions total in the red zone. Only twelve touchdowns number one of the NFL. Both had not played a defense removed host the chiefs offense from local chiefs. But they want to do that. Pamela homes took with the chiefs scheme. Which is smart. And we talked about Carson Wentz. Earlier forcing the ball not the same with with Pat Mahomes, something good job with with that. Just kind of. And the mobility Mahomes to me is is keeps getting more impressive. As the weeks go on he is a quarterback that does not run the football very much but him getting out of pocket. The threat of him running the football is so big whatever reason because he is mobile that it was celebrated for touchdown is teams collapse onto him. And he always finds the guy who's sitting in the middle of the zone. It's amazing. We all say across the field. And he shocking to me Riley every like Paul right to defend nearby. Can't even get picked. So the find a way to control that they to win this game on Sunday. Yeah. I mean, you're right. You're right. You would you would never encourage that from any other quarterbacks a disaster waiting to happen and a guy playing his first real snaps in the league, especially I know, you you you coach those guys to not do that. Get rid of the mall, and it's amazing. All right coming up next. We'll talk more kid to see chiefs with Nate Taylor. The chiefs writer for that. You're listening to locker room on ESPN radio and the ESPN app..

"He was third in the league in passer rating. He was third fourth trailing right behind the big names in MVP talk behind Pamela home behind drew Brees. But as the season went on some rough games against the bears. The lions the eagles. We began to go. Whoa. That year golf is not unlike the Jared Goff we saw during the Jeff Fisher days. That's the Jared Goff turns the ball over. That's the Jared Goff did have twelve hundred twelve turnovers in the month of December six interceptions. Six fumbles. That's the Jared Goff that we have to answer questions about in the questions are this. Can he a performer pressure is he be a system quarterback? Let me think about Jared goff's got money on the line. Jerry, Guscott branding on the line. Jerry Guscott momentum on the line. He can't be the quarterback. We solve the last month. He can't be somebody called system quarterback. He can't be somebody that Los Angeles begins to wonder, well, we do have the genes on the sidelines. Can't he do this with anybody, or at least somebody who doesn't cost one hundred million dollars a year? Jared Goff approaches his contract here. None on the pressures not on McVeigh. The pressure is on Jared Goff. Now tell you there is still criticism out there of Sean McVeigh. I mean, max Kellerman Louis Riddick got into this. There is some thought process out there the McVay hasn't adapted. He hasn't made the changes he stuck with what was going with him. And when it stopped. He didn't alter listen McVay seemed mid late in the season unable to adjust to the girly injury Whitworth was down for a couple of. But I believe McVeigh there's I'll say the word addresses interesting because. Let me just say this MAC, there's only so many things you can do when your offense a line is losing the line of scrimmage. You. Justice you're gonna make going to screen them all game long. You get a quick fast them all game up. Maybe you will you're doing is you're playing into their hand. Because again, they're still making you wanted to measure. Has Sean McVeigh adjusted? Well, not unlike dominated dominating teams throughout history. Shum vague does what works the play action works for the Los Angeles. Rams Todd Gurley works, Los Angeles Rams show. Mcvay is going to do what works works, and they should win or lose you dance with who brung you. That's what we said about the Seahawks and rightfully so when they lost to the Cowboys the Seahawks. Yeah, they ran it on I. Yeah. They ran it on second. Yeah. They said rust you something special on third. But that's what God him where they were. And you dance with who brung you you don't change at the last minute. This Rams will be who they've been. But which Jared Goff will he be? That's the question. We get to answer this weekend. And that puts pressure on the young quarterback in LA now, which way we go in this game. Who am I taking? I'm going to unveil that for you over the next four hours put your normal host in this slot. Your man, my man are man, Stephen a Smith. He did something that I think is at the highest level here. Top of the game stuff Stephen made a pick. And I need your help until me, exactly. Which way Stephen as going in Cowboys Rams, listen and see if we can figure it out. I give the Dallas Cowboys as seventy-five percent chance within this game. Seventy five percent of you. Can't you cannot do that you ready for this? They watch me. Now watch me now. The Dallas Cowboys to me shut witness game. But they will not. They show with. They needed more to the twenty five percent chance of lamb, right? Dan. Ryan. We went up saying that's exactly what says I'm confused. I mean match you got a point for once max, you gotta point Stephen A is confusing. Steve Knight does accuse max of on both sides of an issue imperceptibly. Incapable of being pinned down, Stephen..

"Philip on the cell phone. What's going on, man? You're on the fan. Yeah. Thanks for taking my call. Let me just say this real quick. Yeah. All this talk about the jets got their quarterback to the next ten years. I don't wanna hear all this talk about franchise quarterback. And this is this is a reason. Sure, what what what what is the definition of a franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford? Do you want anti? I mean Tony Romo. We can go down the list guy dot com. Were all Arkansas franchise quarterback with their teams. Don't win is a quarterback cooking win big gangs. I don't care if you wanna call them five. I mean when you take the top five quarterback to the week today. None of them were first round pick. Aaron Rodgers was a first round pick. Aaron Rodgers wasn't a personality. Jesse was drew Brees wasn't a first round pick my bone. Not a first round pick. Quarterback Mahomes back. Pamela homes was the first round pick. He was he was the Kansas City traded up to ten in the first round pick them in the first round. Here's the thing about Pat. I mean, as did I follow Pam homes enough to tell you that he was going to be a great player. No. I'll be that's fair. Okay. The chiefs. Oh, okay. But that's that's my point. Quarterbacks can be found there. His guy. That's. Quarterback, but they're not winners. And the thing about Mary, and I supported Iran manning most of his career giant fan. The only reason why I was upset last year about them a taking them out of the game. Because of who they absolutely correct. Okay. Playing. Well. We already know. The about the other quarterback. If they would've went to weather would have been less of a sting to the fan base. I think clearly. Exactly. That's the only thing I'm saying. No, I completely. But here's the thing. And you say, and you say that all it takes you want is your quarterback to play well in big games. Well, here's the thing. You have a quarterback now in Eli manning who plays well in big games. And you know, what I have no doubt that if now this year they made the playoffs he'd played well in the postseason. But here's the thing you need to get to the big game the play well in the big game. It's real nice to say he plays. Well in the big game. What's that doing for you when you're three and thirteen and five and twelve and five and eleven excuse me. What's that do for you? When.

"Oh, yeah. I mean, what was I supposed to contradict that? No, you're right. You're asking. I wanted the vindication. Okay. Sorry. Yes. Yes. Zack. You're absolutely right on that account. Thank you looking over to the AFC picture you've got the chiefs. And this is what's crazy? The AFC is. I mean, the NFC you can pretty much look at it and say, all right. This outs gonna go influx. But the AFC is all over the place. You got the chiefs currently projected to be the first sheet eleven and four, but if they lose this week against the raiders at home and the chargers win at Denver. They flip flop. The chargers have a chance to be the one seed and the chiefs who have been maybe the best team in the NFL all year long would end up being the four seat in excuse me, the five seed in a wildcard team. Can you believe that? Yeah. A little bit. I mean, we knew that the chiefs were killing you with offense. And the one thing about that is like you kind of need that defense to come along with it in some ways that defense is not very good for the chiefs, and it showed after a long season of having to play a lot of defense mind you because they're chucking it up there and getting getting like guideline tyreek hill up up the field. So yeah, the defense is starting to starting to show its flaws. But one thing I team that I've I liked a lot during the middle of the season is now getting a lot of love because of their position as the chargers. That's not a team that you fear going to. But it's it's a good team like their ground team. Certainly not a home field advantage, you fear. That's a team. And they've got some big wins here in the late. But of course, the season for the Cowboys. You don't have to worry about any of that. You just have to worry about a team that matches up. Well, and with that being said is there a team scares you legitimately scared. You NFC in the AFC, man. Yeah. I'd be scared about playing the chiefs I against having homes in that offense. I mean if there's one team that consistently their offense has come to play every single week. And maybe they haven't for a full sixty minutes, but they've had flashes of. Wow. That's that's the Kansas City potency of an offense. Even this past game against Seattle. I mean, Pamela homes was dealing, bro. You wanna talk about being scared of Russell Wilson. That's fair. That's a fair from one. Yeah. I can't I can't I can't have that roadway is doing things that I don't think are physically possible passes. No look passes. This is. Is the coolest thing that we've that we're getting outside of that not necessarily mean the patriots. Don't look like the patriots. We've come to see the last few years. They look very beatable. And before we go real quick. Like the thing about the patriots. That's been really interesting to me in this question. I've been meaning that I asked a lot of people was Bill Bill check. Right. Like are. We seeing the end of the patriots as we know it because of Robert Kraft, and like his kowtowing to the likes of Tom Brady, and I guess kind of rob gronkowski because Tom Brady it seemed like Bill bell. Check was ready to move on from him. And we've seen him look very human in the last few games, rob gronkowski. There was word that he was going to be traded believe to Detroit was that was that the case there was something in that in that vein. But there was word that he was gonna get traded. And he kind of stopped the trade by threatening to retire. If they traded him in does he stayed with the patriots? And now we see him in situations in which they have the the the Miami miracle and he's back there. Trying to try to look like look like he's the tin man from the wizard of Oz with creaking trying to turn up to a Kenyan Drake who's just burning him. Right. Like we see him look like broken. He's nine years in the league as an apex predator trained to catch football. Like that doesn't go all that. Well, so yeah, it seems like the patriots are kind of hitting that point where oh, yeah. Elbows moves like the things that we that we lauded Bill Belichick for moving on from players before they got bad before they hit that that peak point. And then you started losing value looks like they stopped doing then the patriots are coming down earth. Now, he I can't necessarily disagree with you. And they definitely look at that game a couple of weeks ago in Pittsburgh. I don't think it's one that the patriots would ever lose seventeen to tenure defense holds a pretty darn good. Pittsburgh offense to seventeen points and Tom Brady turn the ball over and made some plays that you just don't see him making. I think that you're you're right. And they've hit on so many of those players by going ahead and. They think oh, you know, the Willie mcginest over the years. They went ahead and pulled the trigger on and moved on from. And they still ended up playing a few years in the league. But they weren't that kind of elite player that they had been in years fashion. You could see ballot. Check saw the writing on the wall with Brady, but I can't necessarily knock Robert Kraft for sticking with the dude that's brought you five Super Bowls, and who still sells jerseys, by the way, and still sells jerseys. I mean, the guy is arguably the best quarterback of all time. And if you don't think that he's that he's without top two or three. So tough to kick that guy to the to the curb not afraid of them, though, not this year Zach we'll check Reggie add a tool filling in for the KFC masterpiece..

"Go presumably there shouldn't be many. If any baseball players in front of him, if he's the most dominant Kelly get the drift. They're one baseball player ranked ahead of him. That's the reigning ale. MVP Mookie Betts, he's a thirteen fourteen fourteen and nineteen. Your guy. Beardie James harden, beardie beardie. He's at nineteen basketball players that came in a head of him clearly at least one right? Lebron turns out to be just one. Lebron LeBron comes in at number thirteen. So from Pat Mahomes. That I don't eat team. I get that he's dominant. That's the that's the name of the list. Mhm? We'll take us back a couple of weeks, and we had the MVP discussion. Do you recall? How we had the MVP candidates ranked? Drew Brees was I? Uh-huh. Holmes was second and believe Goff was third or Gurley was third Goff. Probably it's so after this week's games golf's probably not gonna make the top three unless it was who through too many interceptions against the bears this week. He would be a high on that list. But it was breathing Mahomes there at the top so Mahomes in at eighteen and breeze in at fifteen these two teams who have the or quarterbacking the best two teams in the NFL. And this is a list of two thousand eighteen but that's where I have a problem. I think because Pamela homes I've been in one of his biggest fans he's what three fourths of the way through his first ever season James Harden's coming off an MVP and he's been doing it for several. So you're just tick that he's ahead of harden. No. But it's it's all subjective. And it's it's a we're first of all it's a weird list because it doesn't hardened take as number three. And he's essentially fought like what five rounds in two thousand eighteen I would have a huge problem with that. It's not just a James harden. Got two titles. Great. He's won two titles. This year. What is the moment? Biles during two thousand eighteen she won all those medals at worlds more than two medals. What our worlds apparently, I don't know anything about gymnastics, the like the most important yearly non Olympic championships and not only did she win them when she makes mistakes she still wins because she's doing things routines. That are so much more difficult than any other competitor. Okay. Forget that they can't compete with her turn my mic off on this. Because this is my next question. Again, remind us what you said at the beginning. This is two thousand eighteen the most Janis over Cormet. It gives them a little more power in this ranking? Right. It's it's it's subjective. And it's also relative to what he in Joe's what he pointed out that he won two championships. So I get that. But Lewis Hamilton and number twelve who's a professional race car driver. Listen, I don't care if you win every race. He was in. That's not more impressive to me than anything. Lebron james. James, Mookie Betts. Drew brees. Yeah. But he's justified. He's f one which means some justify turning left. Yeah. Also had a horse on a horse on there. There's a hornet's on their above James harden, and Pat, Mahomes and Mike trout, so if you weren't stuck here wasting your time with me and our listeners and you were at Toyota center, and you're in the locker room after tonight's game in which James harden helped the rockets get their twelfth one of the year. Would you have asked him how ticked off are you that justifies three spots ahead of us on the dominant? I would have asked that more. So to see if you even knew what justify is. Well, what do you mean in? What are you supposed to do if you're a horse? What's the best thing you can do run and not break your leg and get shot in the head Wednesday ground, that's dominance. Okay. Dominance or get paid like three million dollars have sex. That's after that's after you address is you thousand nineteen thus making it dominant. Well, undefeated had six races won all six won the triple crown. That's pretty dominant had the twenty eighteen portion of the two thousand eighteen twenty nineteen season not occurred for James harden, and the floundering rockets at the timing of this list. Maybe he gets a head of justify. But as much as he had the five months of MVP work in the month and a half playoff work. Nice. Also got the front side of the two thousand eighteen season. Dragging him down to nineteen. I'm gonna I'm gonna change in the Rockies. Get it done. I want to get a t shirt for you. That says James harden has no justify. James harden, frontside James harden, your good backside, but you're justify can it be the horse leaving a vapor trail behind it as the picture? You're no justify, and maybe if we were doing all this Senate, I g story and we're asking for comments. I would maybe we'd get to who would win in a race who plays better defense hardened or justify who has a better step back justify or harden. I didn't have a huge problem with the list because this is what they're made for. There's there's always something to pick apart about them when they're so subjective, and they encompass there's so much and then there's horses of people. Okay. That's my problem. Racecar driver. That's not an athlete. He has. Oh, okay. That's like the Seinfeld job where he's talking about the lose. Oh, he's a tremendous athlete. He pointed his toes you keep bringing guys off the street, and they'd be the exact same like, I don't wanna do this. Hey, hey, hey, and you're put him in the luge world record didn't want to do it. That's the same exact thing to me. I just it's weird. So if you were an Olympic Winter Olympic analyst, and they threw on lose coverage have you bad decision. And they describe all we got these competitors. The Serbians are about to go the American team getting ready to go, and they would leave us gap for you to speak, and you would say it will be interesting to see who can lay down best in point there who can sit on their amick. Definitely would call it. Who can who can lie on their ride the best who can who can do what I do every day on the couch who can lay down, and we'll see you comes out on top. It's all at generates little conversation. Usually the reason these lists are put together good for Simone Bosnia's at there on top actually would say that Katie Ludek whose fifth probably should have been second because she's doing in her competitions. What's moans been doing and hers? She's not just winning. She's blowing people away a finishing races. Where nobody else is even in the picture because they're so far behind her and setting world records Stewart do I know she's an NBA title. Okay. So how many did she win this year? The only one that was the okay? One of them. How many points did she score average in that series? Off top my head. I don't I'm per seven.

"And then he turns the magic switch. Yes. And then they they brought it within what one score. Yeah. That's how we. Fills up the meter. It's right is is by slice against. Yes. If you'll them up, and then he hopes out I think the bigger biggest surprise of those names is probably Big Ben going to Baltimore having a pretty good gain there. And and look like he was going to be out. He rushed for a touchdown which gave him three on the day. And here the Steelers are at the top of the division for for big band. It really was the rushing touchdown that put him over the that made it like oh that's a great fantasy game. I mean to forty wh what did he put up through the air to seventy and two. That's that's better than I was expect. Yes. But it was it was the rushing touchdown that saved him. Yeah. And then there's been some rumors about John Harbaugh's job. It's just so I don't know what there is to that Kareem hunt. Moving into running backs cream hunt is he's nasty. Mike just every time. He got the ball. Mike. I was sitting in the studio with it and might just go. There's Mr. nasty again, Mr.. He's nasty. He is Nasser. He's one of my favorite players to watch. Just hide your kids. You wanna know what he runs his angry as marshawn runs you wanna know, what's really cool about. The chiefs is genuinely Pamela homes is one of my favorite players to watch. If he's just bio, yes, what Kareem hunt is one of my favorite players to watch. Just you know by himself his runs. Travis kelsey. Yeah. One of my favorite players to watch just by himself. Andy Reid my favorite coats loss. So put. Yeah. Was that? It was it was. Moskva game Alvin Kamara. Who do you want recipes and hunt hunter Camaro? That's a great question. I you know, I think I'm going to go with hunt. Really mean, it's so close, I'll take you. You still have the both guys are unbelievable. Both guys are in super high scoring offenses. The only difference that I see is that one of them. Can't lose the work in a certain game script a certain game. Can't you know, Spencer? Where is not going to have a game where he just comes in and takes several of the goal line touchdowns and things like that. But I mean, I'm not trading one for the other. I don't like lateral trade, whoever you have your happy with. I remember this was such a fun. Great week of showing why stud running backs from portent for fantasy? There was a stretch where it was just one three plays in a row in NFL where it was a it was an Alvin Kamara touchdown, and then Melvin Gordon. Touchdown Todd Gurley touch. It was just like, oh, yeah. The the big guys. Did you always get touchdown? If I could trade hunt for chimera. I do heartbeat because you avoid a by. And you've got a better plan the saints I- pieces. Absolutely. The by week. If you're talking about the same caliber of player, both great don't lose them for a week. Yeah. And Tampa Carolina Pittsburgh. Berg for Kamera to finish the season seems a little better than Baltimore. The chargers for hunt. But I mean, look you're splitting hairs both a great. How about this have both? Oh, what a great idea. Why you win title Christian McCaffrey big game? He was actually my number one ranked running back on the week ended up with two goal line carries. Sometimes those go to to Cam, they didn't go to the full bag. Yeah. That's the funny thing about it. Is you had to other carries from the one that didn't go to McCaffrey? But he was dominant ham pulled out a decent day by the end. But it was so frustrating. You know, his Cam was super highly rated by just about everybody. When in that game. They're up like thirty two nothing in the blink of an eye and Cam Newton like everything was a long run. Right. And it's like come on James, why Cordeiro Patterson? Hey, hey Patterson now is fun. A lot of that production came when James white left the field with an injury and Patterson came in and ran like like a monster is hoping Kevin Coleman James Connor Duke. Johnson fluke Johnson. Is it a fluke for Duke? Here's what what we had talked about for Duke Johnson. It was the new OC. He keeps it hot..

"Well, we haven't heard that very much this year over DJ more. But I think both are very good place. I haven't both in my top twenty four. Whoa. Nellie top twenty four for DJ more. Yep. How about Greg Olsen is? He a top five title. Here's your all about. I'm all about the Panthers. This look at the book, and here's defense, man. It's the workers is not good. Most boys to the fantasy quarterback position. Second most of the fancy wide receiver most of the tide imposition still bad against running back somehow they found him way because they score, but very can't stop anybody. But that and that's what translates for fantasy owners yet to quarterback production. If you look at the chiefs defense, which we're about to talk about seven one chiefs take on the two five and one Browns. In Cleveland, eight and a half point underdogs Cleveland at home against the chiefs, fifty one and a half point over under. The chiefs defense has struggled to all the metrics against the chiefs defense outside of kind of being still lower lower third at wide receiver that's translated into infinite points for Pamela home. So. You know, if you have a great defense you quarterback ends up in a position where they're not playing four quarters the way that you want them to play for fantasy right? Yeah. I loved it. This game is in Cleveland because I think that the chiefs defense and the Browns offense will be better for fantasy being that, you know, it's it's a way from Arrowhead stadium. So I'm a big fan. I, you know, I've said this before it's a little bit narrative street, but so far we're two for two on the coaches being fired. And that first week bouncing back the team kind of rallying Tampa Bay's defense Matteo vers line coach being fired. Jason that's true. Now does double negative, Amy. I watched the double posit entire Greg Williams press conference. I did that to myself why? Well, we were either guy who could have signed immediately or head coaching up. Now in fairness where you're not even going to interview him just give them the Jain fairness. He did not. He did not say that those were. Special teams K. So we don't know that this very true. That's a fair point. I mean, the high school could have said, hey, Greg Williams. I'll let you be the head coach but gradually the ultimate Clark Kent, find somebody new find somebody in your life. That loves you the way that Greg Williams love love some growth. And will be happy for a long time. But I do think the Browns rally here there. I think they have a great offense of output. I'm actually excited for the Browns for the first time this season why their offense of players. I've been very aims writing down a date. I show live in infamy. So let's start with that side. Then I mean, if you you like Nick Chubb a lot you're gonna play Jarvis Landry. Yes. Do we forgive? David and joke for goosing. Yes. What you have to. You're gonna make a mistake. What if that was injury related? I mean, it could be, but he was he was still out there. He was still running routes. So I'm I'm letting it slide like a like the hunter Henry like Evan Ingram last year where he just had the random goose in the middle of the season. If you look at his last three games eighty two percent. Eighty three percent. Eighty two percent snap counts. This wasn't a. I mean, you you could say well he was hobbled while he was out there. He was on the field. I am one hundred percent. Find forgiving David and joke who playing him this week. Oh, definitely play him over a Vance McDonald..

"He's been in since two thousand fifteen. They made a lot of improvements on offense of line with back and John Ross coming back online. He any any is like the perfect case for quarterback who's entirely dependent on his context is back. I mean, he was decent two thousand fifteen because that offense of line kept them clean all season though. Yes, and they swapped out there center. They got rid of Bodine and they made improvements there, and he's good when he's surrounded by good players and plays a good line. That's just always been indie dome, but isn't that everybody. Quarterback put anybody in that position. And that's what I'd get. I mean, you could say the same about Mahomes although I wouldn't. I don't think I think he goes. He's transcended that a little bit, but he's in the best situation football, the best situation football. Guess why Pat Mahomes because he has the best combination of weapons, offensive line. And then a brilliant coach in Andy Reid don't get me wrong. He is talented. He, I think is one of those three or four quarterbacks transcends that like Aaron Rodgers. But you could not put a quarterback in a better situation except for the defense which is absolute trash. Well, golf seems to be in a pretty good situation. Absolutely him as well. I don't think his weapons are as good as Mahomes. The line is good though, and then McVay obviously makes the game so easy for him. That's the other thing when we talk about offense is coming back is a lot of it. And I mentioned the trickle of college. These are coordinators making the game easier quarterbacks. I don't watch Monday night. Football was horrible. Mitch trubisky's not been good at all, but Matt navy. He's been scheming guys wide open for him and you see that Pamela homes has not thrown into traffic, right? If you watch these games, he's phenomenal. And he throws lasers and he's got the arm guys are wide open for him, and that's because of the coaching cousins is in a pretty good situation. He's the best wide receiver do football. I'm trying to be really definitive. I digs it Almer mar. MR your own kind. Two part question for me. Okay, see how you would go under five hundred for the first time since two thousand eleven in. The second question for the guys is is you're gonna outdo the line coverage for Super Bowl this coming here. I don't like that because that means they're gonna. Put me in a more dangerous and terrifying situation. The Seahawks could very well go under five hundred. What you saw Monday was not really. It's not going to be that bad. The entire team was out Caja Ryan, Bobby Wagner. The two bigger, but this is not a good football team by any stretch, the evaluation miniature on at herders. They that hurt her. She's going tend to on her bicep those honest integrity. The windows closed though we told you that a couple of games ago and you weren't on his back then you were still still not honest. Then mid, you're on with meantime, go ahead Mench. Meena in terms of the Rams off season acquisitions, are you a member of the mile high club? What are you doing? Raymond on with Meena calms go ahead Raymond. Top of the morning to you. Three hundred twelve time caller for getting through my question is what will happen. I another Browns tie or Browns win. Take your answer out there and go go. I think the president went on Thursday. Oh, sorry, stupid, rookie quarterback on a short week. What do you make my rookie quarterback by the way you loved him. You loved him at it into the graph to what have you made of Sam darnold through two weeks. I still like him. I still like him. I just went back and watched some of the twenty two from the game because I missed it in real time, and I saw a lot to like their look. He's in a bed. We talked about situations that is a bad situation when your best weapons are Robbie interested Clinton. That's not good in that line is not great either. I do Jeremy Bates, but he has. I think the talent and decision making to be the quarterback in the NFL right there. The last I don't know thirty words or so, is the dorkiest you've ever heard me kind that is it..

"Qods cleaning gates, Frank guys, Zola Bob, Ryan, the NFL two weeks in can patent the homes possibly be this good can fit Patrick, possibly pull this off is the league. Second guessing ten minute overtimes. And everything else. Get signal, these gall that is. But it's also tied to put cut of exploiting role that's in place. Around the whole, she'll get away with it. Tony, really, we'll get to that in a bit Patrick Mahomes the greatest start to an NFL season ever ten touchdowns the first two games that sheets look immaculate on up. That's forty. One on the Steelers in Pittsburgh, meet a concert, got to go to you right out of the gate. Can they? And he possibly be. This could inaccurate was the right word because Pat Mahomes is football Jesus. I'll say it now, but we knew that was going to be great going into the season. They were fifth and total offense. Last year. They had all these weapons coming back at it. Sammy Watkins Andy Reid, the great offensive coach, but we didn't know pet Mahomes would be this good this weekend. He led the league and averaged at the target. We knew he had a great deep ball, but he also an eighty two percent completion percentage zero interceptions those statistics. Tony usually don't go together. He is phenomenal. However, this team is not going to roll to the Super Bowl because the defense is very mediocre at. Best Pamela homes is going to need to score all of those points to keep them in games. Clinton Yates, how about you? I love Mahomes told you guys last week that he was working quarterback that made the biggest impression on me in terms of him stepping into their role. If nothing else that she's conceited, they made the right gamble in terms of getting rid of Alex Smith, the number that stands out to me from a home, it's twenty six percent of his completions touchdown. That number is insane to me. It's not just the fact that he's got so many that he doesn't mess up. Forget the interceptions, his throws a complete. I love washing his team to the most wanted to watch the NFL right now you have similar concerns defensively about them. Clinton eight berries out would bury comes back and think they'll get better. But in general, yes, I do have concerns about the defense break. I Sola join us. You know, I think the numbers are going to be skewed just a little bit because we know now the NFL doesn't want anybody to play defense, but that being said this guy got some arm on him number one. And I also think coming into that team where with that head coach, Andy Reid and Clinton just mentioned Alex with getting a chance one year kind of learning the system and not being forced in there. I actually think one year showing some patients. With a young guy, he's twenty three is paying off. Okay. Well, you think all the offensive numbers because the league is mandating that little bit. We'll say, defense looks pretty good when they go up against the giants, you're in New York team, Bob Reid. How about you? You have to be impressed with the nature of the throats that we've been watching the ones you just saw folks hadn't seen him before this kid's threading needles with a bullet. Okay. Now you've consensus when he was in the class of two thousand seventeen among quarterbacks, is that whatever you thought about overall preparation and background, all that he had the best of all of them and maybe the skepticism a lot was about always from Texas Tech, and that league defense is bogus baba, blah, blah, blah. But a lot of people from the beginning said, he's got the best arm what we didn't know. He had the complete package apparently hasn't always doing what he did at Texas Tech in the NFL which is the biggest stunner of them. August verse somebody just threes. He has the record for best. I three games started and he's only got touchdowns in his last two games. Let's talk about the Steelers for a second. What's the major malfunction with Pittsburgh right now? Easy to pointed the on bell miss. But now Antonio Brown is out there defending himself on Twitter by saying trade me, let's find out how good I am or the Steelers unraveling Meena I think what you're seeing here is actually the same problem. We see with bell with the offensive line, which is everyone of the Steelers wants credit, right? It's in Tony Brown saying, hey,.

Giants way over seven wins also, there's not been a repeat winner. In, the, NFC east two thousand four I know it's amazing so it's a weird division, so the giants over seven games is really easy okay what about the LA. Rams ten wins Vegas has ten I'm going under here and. I'll tell you why so last year, if, you, look at the quarterback. They played they played five to seven maybe a average to. Above average if you count? Dacca's maybe, an above average you didn't play, that, way last year and they won three of those there were three and three they lost the. Playoff game. To the falcons obviously this year they, play at least eleven above. Average quarterbacks they play the believe. They play the NFC north Garoppolo twice Russell Wilson twice let's four plus I'm not counting really even Josh Rosen this quite yet or. Sam Bradford amok counting Pamela homes or Mr. Bisky they play week eighty nine or could be by that point above, average so, they put the north I believe and they play the AFC west I believe as well, so Philip rivers. Rivers case keenum and car. So they they're loaded on. Quarterback so I just think if, we look at at the. Unders obviously easy. Wants the dolphins are probably not gonna. Win many games but there's always a couple of times over here that take Step back I know the Rams upload all these guys they're roster. But I like I like, their total, under nine and seven they just, go under, ten okay. This one I, totally agree with the Jerry. Everybody in media loved the Jaguar..

New York Giants NFC AFC falcons Sterling Shepard Evan Ingraham Olivier Vernon Rams Oxy New York Georgia Philip rivers Jeff Schwartz Tom Brady Alex Ogle DC Arizona New England Barkley Sam Bradford

"To sort of retool so we know they had such a great year last year they go away from alex smith and i think what you're gonna get is yemenite be a gay more to worse than last year but i think it's important to remember that what they're doing a kansas city is what they need to do to take what they think is the big step forward and remember this pamela home sat last year so this is going to be essentially year one for him of being starting quarterback but remember contractually they're not paying him a lot of money so i think what kansas city goes through this year is a little bit of the transition and maybe if they're ten and six i think you take it and you're run however this move was clearly made for them to be able to compete with new england to be able to compete with tennessee who i think is a team on the rise to compete with jacksonville and they almost needed to take like a half a step back to in their eyes take five steps forward and that's not an indictment on alex smith is just a realization of where they think they can go with this young quarterback and the fact that they're not going to have to pay him a ton of money for the next couple of years allows them to fatten up the roster in the other ways in the short term to try to continue to rise the tide and hope the quarterback can be able to break through go back to one seattle was paying russell wilson no money and look at how they rebelled to allocate their monetary assets under the salary cap and then look at what's happened ever since russell wilson has become a twenty three million dollar man and some of the choices they've had to make so i think for you as a kansas city fan the next four years are where you really gotta make hay and try to win a super bowl because you don't have to pay your quarterback a lot of money jeremy is in oklahoma city and he's frustrated i want to hear why jeremy you're next on the gresh show on cbs sports radio what's up brother.
