"July they should just call it July fast. Honestly, but I guess. I guess we're not that port. Yeah, right. High Five Kathy Bates Have No. No, don't hang. Kathy all right. You know I talk about hot dogs a lot, but my I love is a child was ever humble. PATS messy because it was the only piece of bread that I couldn't be expected to take the filling out of before I, ate it when I was just a Zygote in my mother's room I I actually requested a I couldn't even eat the I literally had mouth, but I just knew I love pretzels before I, even had a pretzel anyway. Here and since I I've been around, too many of the regulars for too long so just to remind myself that I am famous. I'm just GONNA. Climb into this guideline just flowed over this fast for a little bit for years and okay. This down okay looking down. So then she loves the of course, and then she goes over to pig heads I mean. This shows just trying to trigger me at this point. Okay, it's like a big, a big grill full of pig heads and. I call refers to baby pick while also so well I. as called the so here's what it was, so i. she goes. Oh the guy's name call. Yeah, no, she goes, there will the thing. "Me that addiction is stronger than love until it isn't one of those nights. The strength of her addiction really shows itself it overpowers even her mother instinct and instinct. That has always gotten Laura home safe to her daughter. Even when Laura was blacked out so it's the morning after her brother's wedding and Laura wakes up groggy expecting to see her daughter beside her. But instead it's a stranger a guest from her brother's wedding. Laura is not in her hotel room. She's in his hotel real and her five-year-old daughter is alone in the hotel room. Laura should be waking up in and this is where the rock bottom moment comes right. This is where she gets it together now. Not Quite inside. I was like why does this? Where is this imaginary line that I seem to be crossing that other people? Don't cross that line. And why can I not? Why can I not prevent myself from crossing it like night after night so felt like that was my fault like just get your shit together So for another year she tries to find an alternative. Like maybe she drinks just a little bit or just on some days but nothing changes until everything changes We'll be right back We're back and Laura has spent the year after her brother's wedding trying to get sober. Pama children wrote that. Nothing goes away until it teaches us. What we need to now and Laura has learned a lot. Not everyone has a problem with drinking but everyone has a thing a thing they do. That isn't very good for them or is even bad for them. A thing they've struggled with and maybe are ashamed of Laura's thing was drinking and she did stop and after she stopped drinking she started to talk and write about her sobriety and she heard from a lot of people who were struggling with a lot of things in needed a place to feel heard one day she got an email from a woman and her sister was really struggling with drinking and she'd had a lot of consequences and the family have been trying to help for awhile and sister was just so upset and frustrated and angry and sad and she didn't know what to say to her sister. She was afraid of saying anything. Because which is very common you know. You don't want to scare them off you don't WanNa just like. What do I say and I wrote her this long letter back but this list of nine things was what I said at the end to like since this can be hard. I'm GONNA give you a list and I gave her this list. The list appears in the very beginning of Laura's book. We are the luckiest the surprising magic of a sober life. The first time I encountered the list was on instagram. Not Knowing any context around who Laura was or why she'd written it it still resonated with me. The list is nine items long and there's a list of things. Laura needed to hear herself as she quit her thing. And you're going to hear them all right now. Starting with number one number.

"Basically looking like you just through some broccoli on top. It was just unfortunately, all the bad makings of a not great dish. And I know we said coming into this that Adrian is going to have to really impress in Macau. And while she did find in the quick fire. I think this just shows that you know, maybe she did well enough to make it to top five. But it's clear that the other four I think thought through this challenge a bit more to edge her out. But like I said, it is it is a situation where it seemed like even though we heard the most negative feedback of the dish of the about the dishes, only when they were deciding who goes home, it seemed like the overall the judges still did like all the food that they ate so. Yeah. That's at least a good thing for the chefs for sure, yeah. I feel like actually from the I would say from the basketball challenge on safer a couple of elements from people's dishes. They've really loved these what everyone has put out in this season. We have not had a season fifteen esque, Tom. Giving everyone a pep talk about what they need to do in order to do better in the competition. It seems like these shifts have been impressing at least in the past few episodes, which is good. I think it shows the level of enjoyment. These judges are getting across. I do completely agree that we we should repeat that these judges really really loved all these dishes. It's just a matter of minor quibbles while Adrian did not necessarily produce a bad dish. It was the worst of a really good bunch. And so by default she had to go Haley. What did you think about Eric's take on togetherness, his coconut curry with the pork shoulder and the pork ears? It sounds great. And it I think it's just like one of the situation. Like you're saying before where it was good. But it just wasn't as good as the best ones. And you know, there wasn't enough space. There could have been more flavor to it. Just didn't come off as great as I think Eric wanted it to or you know, that Eric actually thought it did. 'antonio? I wonder if want to hear from you about this was also publicized on the promos. Eric speaks up at judges table where Pama makes his critique that with your tie chilly that you made your curry. I couldn't really or the coconut curry I couldn't really detect. What was in? Specifically they were talking about how the lead she had gotten lost. And Eric speaks up and says, you know, I respectfully disagree. I feel like when you make a curry specifying ingredients is an important all the matters is tasting good because everyone has a type of curry that they they're used to what did you make of Eric's decision? Just sort of push back on the judges with that the he handled it well Adrian pushes back a little bit too. I don't think the judges. I don't think it affected what they were deciding about the dishes. I think Eric push back the way he pushed back I understand what he was saying. We also heard the feedback that he used the richest of coconut which the with the richest meat, and so you're in a situation where maybe. Wasn't just that the lead. You didn't stand out enough? It was some of these other choices that were made in the composition of his dish. Which impacted all of that? It wasn't just at the curry was tasty. I I think he was in a little bit of a difficult spot, and it did sound like just in maybe gave him the feedback about the heat of the thing. But it wasn't like the heat. The lack of the heat of the thing was why the judges had issues with the dish. They basically said lack of clarity. It's muddy. And I understand that. He would want to step up for his dish and say, it's not money. But or the muddiness was intended or the muddiness doesn't affect why. Whether he made a good curry or not. But I think when you're in the final five here, the judges enjoyed everything I think these finer points are wa the difference between why you go home or not. So I do get important begun up for your dish. And to speak up for the choices that you made. It is it's a fascinating disagreement. Right. Because it's Eric..

Oh, Hank is the fulfill buyer and she thinks he's a Neanderthal. That's right. She also kind of likes it. She does she likes. Also like when he's like loses his temper, and she will like showed him into Yahoos as upper weird. She's got some. Like issues for sure. Yeah. And she's making good now. I can get you from Melissa. And he's like, oh can my girlfriend whistle job too. And she's like fuck. And the most comes on the phone and she's like, oh, hi. So she was like fine come to work dress dress to impress. She's like wear your hottest outfit where you're most expensive fans. Wear glitzy, and she's like. I'm gonna make her work in the stockroom. She's going to be so embarrassed. Yep. Which is so main at so mean, and then she's like prank three she is driving down the road. And she sees a chubby boy named for Bob who she says in her inner monologue. She's always liked. Yeah. Like, I always liked rob. Even though like he has asked me out a bunch, and I have made it perfectly clear that I am not about to date him because he is chubby. Yeah. I'm going to pull over and ask if he wants a job, and I'm gonna tell him to wear a suit because he'll be working in PR. But really he's going to be our mull Santa. Yep. So then the way that the prank comes out is that everybody shows up and it's like in the insulted. Yeah. And all it is she is set. "They can match a score for score. That's what I'd do. If it's Todd. Maybe this is crazy. But I mean, I'm who I am. I'm ella. Pama? Well, I got a morph to try. Beat oklahoma. Why? My thought is this like this is I mean, you could make an argument that Alabama's offense here in this game. I mean, I think Oklahoma is but it's not by much. This is to best offense is an all college football. You have a massive outlier. Right. You have one of the worst fits that college football you on the best offenses. Why would you not take advantage of that why because you wanna short and the game you want to go be army? You wanna limit possessions? Kyle Murray why when when you've got as far as defensive efficiency, the number three defense and college football adjusted defensive efficiency, it's number one. Like, we forget how good this Alabama defense is as good as Oklahoma's on offense. They have not faced anything in the stratosphere as what they're gonna see against Alabama. So to take the mindset and go in and say, we gotta play ball control. We've got limit calumnies ability to touch the football. I just wouldn't do it. If I've got horses like Alabama to me. I take the approach. This is who we are. We're gonna line up and play our game. And we believe our defense is going to get far more stops than the okay? Mahama defense. That's the way I would go into this. I almost feel like if you over analyze it. And you try to look at an army you take away. What's made you so dynamic all season? And it's exactly pain alluded to how they've thrown when traditionally you've always expected Alabama to run in those situations. I mean, I think there's so many questions with those two units matched up against each other knowing how good Alabama's you guys outlying there. They've been offensively in terms of quick ability and some of Oklahoma struggles on the defensive side of the ball. Obviously. The other matchup worth watching is kind of strength on strength Oklahoma offensively against Alabama's defense and paying ask you. I mean, we bet the game over in the SEC championship came out fortunate push at sixty three but can Oklahoma employ some of the same tactics that we saw Georgia using the title game showing balance and not only the passing game. But also their ability run the football knowing Oklahoma's offense of line probably better than Georgia's. And it's gonna need to do everything they can contain Quinton Williams Jonathan Williams in Isaiah bugs with talented, Alabama defensive line. I would think they're going to have some success here in even talking to mail Alabama people they believe Oklahoma's gonna have successor. I just don't think you're going to stop Oklahoma's offense consistently like Lincoln Riley is next level. He's gonna have a good game plan here. He's going to have a good script. Here. We saw a season ago against a much better SEC defense in Georgia in this exact game. So I I don't think there's any question of that Cuyler Murray is certainly extremely talented savings doing his usual gamesmanship, retain, right? Call Cuyler the best player in college football that gets defense motivated..

"It looks like it's. Coming to predictable, but you know, we both ran around long enough with this that you don't want to say, oh, it's Pama George, Ohio State Clemson, we don't know that it's see teams. Notre Dame has to be mentioned with this now at six zero and a schedule that looked really daunting before the season started. Now, not so much. They've rolled through halfway of, I guess, how open of a mind start there? How over the mind do you have that? We could see something really surprising in the four that play for national championship. It depends on what your definition of surprising is. If you told me at the beginning of the season, we'd be talking about Notre Dame right now off. I in surprised. So you know, I think if Notre Dame can get in, it adds a whole new. Dimension to it and and in terms of liking chaos, like people crying about the playoff, which I do, I love it being Notre Dame, getting a lot of fun as far as the other ones going, you know, here's thing, Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State have been the most consistent programs for the last ten years and. It's not their fault that they've been consistent as everybody else's falls for not keeping up with them. You know, we talk about Georgia, like it's a, you know, it's a soon that have to get it if Alabama Georgia and they play, they play at twelve zero in the SEC championship game. Remember twin the loser in the liberty bowl two years ago. So you know, let's Georgia beats Alabama in the SEC championship game. And I know the idea of Alabama losing given what we've seen is crazy, but how they haven't played anybody decent other than Texas same him yet. So we don't. We don't quite know how Alabama's but we have a pretty good idea that they're they're pretty special because we just haven't seen this kind of offense from say the team at the puck and I was looking through at the other day that they've never been ranked. Number one, eleven straight seasons. It's just I, we probably run out of ways to talk about what Bama has done. I had this theory this weekend that I thought of is it usually a coaching turnover ends a burning you and catching up to you. I wonder if in Alabama, it's different that it's the reverse that the coaching turnover is perfect because they don't have the same group. They're there isn't as much complacency, and because you're working for the guy, knowing if you're successful one or two years with Sabin, it's gonna lead to much bigger things that every assistant that goes in there, it's the best version of themselves and in a way you're getting, even though this just it's not supposed to happen sports, it's the greatest run in modern history, but the turnover is a positive for Alabama. I think it's a pretty good theory. Right? I, here's why first of all, Nick Sabin is going to make you uncomfortable for reason..

"Been next hour as well. Join Taza myself, we'll talk a little skins but run around the National Football League with Joe the former golden dome as well. He's going to be fired up about what Notre Dame is doing. Looking good ties. And they've got a clear path to get themselves to one of those two national semi final games. They really do. Now. We've talked a lot about the NFL. How about these comments? Tom Brady does a spot on W E up the Beantown each every week. Let's take a look at the patriots quarterback talking about today's day and age of the NFL. You know, I think it was a different time. You know, I think football is was different. Then, you know, I think now I think in some ways, it's pro football's more glorified college football. I think at some ways that maybe the transition it's more similar game than what it used to be. You know, when I first started. So it's much football. Now is is with removing some of the physical element. Of the game. It's just it's more of a game. And you know, you see a lot of kind of college plays. You know? More in the pro game now than than what I remember when I started. So you know, that's just how things that went over the last twenty years. I gotta I'm laughing because I, you know. I'm taking you know, you're old when you start saying things on the radio like well, the game has changed from when I started to you know, you're playing a long time. You're right. There's been that evolution and you've been part of it. And you're still quiet. I don't really agree with him. I mean who the hell minded Tom Brady college football. I watch locks all this. I watch a game. And I'm not saying it's completely one hundred percent the same, but they have taken variations of the college offense to it. Now. I space game. I do take the physicality out of the game. A lot of it right to protect players safety. They've made it difficult on defenses to to do their job. You can't touch your guy pass five yards. You can't hit a guy over the middle. The defensive holding Pama plumbers. They've made it a lot easier to throw the football. No argument any of those things and and that's all to Brady Saint too. You know, what I'm saying as if you're a football fan watching for me when I watch college game on Saturday. I watch that. I watch a bunch on Sunday pro games. It's a different game. The pro game to me when I watch it feels more structured there's less risque plays on offense. There's less of that's the fun of college football. You'll see a kid who was like a sophomore freshman quarterback. And just like roll out. Just Chuck it. Thanks, dude that let's just as more more risk taking more wild wild west type football. It is different. And usually teams use a different style offense. The baby makes up for some talented group. I think I don't think it's one in the same. I wouldn't say.

"In London. It's eh, Melton hair and deal with the monocle daily. You may defeat me in the final vote, but you will never get me to quit. The supreme court nominee. Brett cavern has been staunchly defending himself against accusations that he sexually assaulted Dr Christine, blazey food. When they were both teenagers at a party testimonies from both him and Doxa food were lengthy, detailed and points rambling. Lay all going on still with Brett covenant still delivering his testimony, but they will also very gripping. The reason for the hearing is whether Brett Cavanaugh is a worthy nominee as Justice of the supreme court, but it's arguably about much much more joining me now from Washington DC is Pamela Levy, whose reporter with mother Jones and a very warm, welcome to the program Pama. Let's consider first the testimony from Dr Ford. It's been described by some as a normal person talk to Ford totally normal person's thrust into an impossible situation. Action. Let's have a listen to what she actually had to say. I have been accused of acting out of partisan political motives. Those who say that do not know me. I am an independent person and I am not one's pawn. My motivation in coming forward was to be helpful and provide facts about hell. Mr. Cabanillas actions have damaged my life. There's no doubt Pama that she sounds terrified and she was in front of an incredibly intimidating group of people. Most of them white men. What was your reaction to her testimony today? I think that she performed incredibly well as you said. I mean, we're calling this woman Nate normal woman. She's clearly stay smart woman. She's a, she's a doctor, but she is an average person being put in the spotlight and she performed incredibly well. She seemed incredibly believable, and she also, you know, people have said, oh, she doesn't remember, you know, every single detail. But at the same time, it's on some level, the more candid witnessed that will own up to what they don't remember rather than fabricating it or guessing. So I think that she came off incredibly well on reports are after her testimony that it really did rattle some Republicans who did feel that she had performed very well and that she had stood up to scrutiny and and and so you know, cavenaugh that set a high bar for him when he went in. Second, how much did this actually dispel any thoughts that she addressed in that little exit? The that she was nothing, but a stooge. You know, I think that there have been people including some Republicans and including brick Cavanaugh who have sort of framed this as a democratic attack, but they were unable to prove any links between her and the Democrats in any way that would put her up as a stooge. For example, they said, oh, you know, why did you go to a democrat when you reported this? And she said, well, my my congresswoman is a democrat, that's that's who's in my district. And so they, you know, they were unable to find any. You know, reason they are questions probing this, you know about, you know, money about who recommended your lawyer about why you went to a democrat, but nothing really seemed to stick. We then move to cabinet still giving evidence. He's been going for a good couple of hours. Now it's an astonishing testimony insofar as this is a man who should be standing as the next judge in the supreme court who'll be shaping judicial parts of the United States for. Many, many years to come. But what we have had is an angry impassioned and almost invariably emotional man. Let's have a quick listen this, how he reacted to the accusations that he sexually assaulted Dr food with alongside a friend at a party when they were both. Teenagers are not questioning the doctor. Ford may have been sexually assaulted by some person in some place at some time, but I have never done this to her or to anyone that's not who I am. It is not who I was. I am innocent of this charge. "Of interactions with with just civilians when you talk about your service this is true of me i assume it's true a lot or most veterans you take the other person's thoughts and feelings into respect whether whether you're giving them the most details possible or whether you're being cagey about your experience you have like the an emotional burden of like either accepting their thanks and being uncomfortable with it or them saying i could never do that when really you're just a normal person who had the drive to get through basic training it's not it's not so difficult right now it's not doing it it's just your someone who wanted to do it so you did it and it's very once you have that drive it's it's it happens and so like when you erase that that emotional burden of trying to care about what the other person is thinking or feeling it becomes instantly like i was like i'm fine i'm cool and like twenty minutes into just the entertain the intake interview over the phone i was like i was like holding back to you ears and being like yeah i have a doctor named dr wheeler she's a neuropsychologist that i go see it san antonio shutout dr willis pama love you we i go see her and when i turn go in that room and she shuts the door i basically turned into the steph curry of crying i'm like the mvp of cry when i'm in that office i'm like i can't remember my side like when i was going allot like my memory was just so bad and it was shocking because i used to like i felt like i was a really intelligent person but learning new tasks like spanish learning math again learning anything that required things that i didn't have luckily i had like a grammatical structure and english was part of my brain that didn't get fucked up my beliefs speak is it messed up but short term memory remember people's names where i saw them all those things was a huge aspect of because my technical diagnose diagnose ptsd with cognitive dissidence so i have that going on and when i would go in there as a smart person in your brain you know you've been smart your entire life made good grades and you're like i cannot pass college algebra like.

"Incident that's all i'm saying have a as an assistant coach yahya by but my point is uh and again people cringe when i said but millionaires do not want to be all that and i think that that in of that change the culture right wrong the smart ones like tim duncan wallaby coach you hear that over and over again but spree well really set out a because he would at large remember how good a player he was lawsuit nelly drafted him at atta pama slim you know six five but the wingspan of like a six ten guy and he was just a defence of menace right out of the shoot i remember him like he was yesterday aimed uptempo could run all day guy was a hell of a town no question fourtime allstar by the way yeah and the again just to tell of the old stories here but i kind of fell in with them because i again my line was over and over again i didn't just obviously didn't say yeah carla's the mode deserved it or any of that but i did say millionaires do not want to be all that this is a different world were living in now because even twenty years ago the players made so much money so i had him on a couple of times in the vecchi drove down the tv station on his own and uh you know egypt larry i'm just telling you when you're 25 years old and all of a sudden people give you the money and the power you know he was a little bit crazy but not a bad guy aegis say why should i take any crap from somebody look i'm levin you know it's it's it's a well we weren't there and we will we weren't there we don't know how he was coached we don't know who crossed than we know the line was crossed in ottis spree well went on to you know some success not you know probably a little bit underwhelming compared to what we thought.
