"From NPR News. I'm Janine Herbst, six months after Briana Taylor was fatally shot by police in her home in the city of Louisville, Kentucky, this week announced a $12 million settlement package with her family. But NPR's Amy held reports. Her mom says the fight for justice is far from over. The settlement includes reforms like giving police housing credits to live in the neighborhoods where they work. Rianna, Taylor's mother to make a Palmer tells NPR that will enable officers to get to know the community. Had we had those practices in play already, a lot of things could have been avoided. That happened with Mariana. The settlement also make search warrants harder to come by Briana Taylor was killed after police using a no knock warrant, entered her apartment and exchanged gunfire with her boyfriend. Palmer tells NPR that the civil agreement is just the start of an ongoing struggle continued by criminal charges. For months, protesters have been calling for the officers involved in Briana Taylor's death to be arrested. Jamie held NPR news. FBI Director Christopher Ray says there are many players behind recent protest related violence, telling lawmakers on Capitol Hill Thursday. The agency works for the American people. NPR's Ryan Lucas has more Rays appearance before the House Homeland Security Committee comes as some Trump Administration officials have tried to blame the violence on the left wing Antifa movement. Attorney General William Bar, for instance, has described Antifa as the ramrod of all the violence. The FBI director, however, told lawmakers that the people behind the violence are motivated by a wide variety of ideologies and agendas. The FBI does have investigations underway into individuals whose self described is antifa, he said. But right also noted that individuals who subscribed to right wing groups have been charged with protests related violence. Ryan Lucas. "Did you notice that late in that game when the Browns have the lead? It's Odell on one side. Jarvis Landry, the Otherside. O'Dell's Got blonde hair. Jarvis Landry has purple hair, Baker Mayfield sitting in the middle of them, and they're all joking around. Yep. They're all laughing and joking and having a good time. And That's only the type of thing that happens between those three guys. If they're winning and winning big. They made him happy. Yeah, Odell happy. I have a feeling if the Bangles had come back, and the Bangles really survived a lot of punches last night and kept that game interesting. The Bangles comeback on one. I don't know that we have a happy O'Dell that he wasn't on the field for 1st 2nd down in that goal line situation with the Browns were absolutely stonewalled where they just couldn't get enough of not understand the run was working around the goal line. We could be having a very different O'Dell with the yellow hair today, screaming about why he wasn't on the field. Also, I would probably have to take back all the nice things I said about Kevin's too fancy. Having not won after that goal line situation wasn't burrow great. Wasn't borrow just a joy to watch last night. And Diego bring up something. He's not flap a ball like an unflappable franchise quarterback When you were getting pounded like that, Bobby Hart might as well have not been on the field at right tackle. The Bengals might as well play with four offensive lineman because he had no time off the right side. You know, Geo Bernard I mean, basically, I feel like a dinosaur now not get anything going on the run game when he was in there because he's trying to help pass protect the offensive ones atrocious. But Joe Burrow just kind of calmly goes to the sideline his sacred point through. He's riding a bike. You never see the quarterback's ride the bike. He is just so cool and chill in the pressure and service throws are just absolute seeds. And also, I like the fact that there's not a ton of bravado after the big play to we just kind of calmly goes about his way. We had a lot of questions with Carson Palmer on Radio Roseanne Burrows should think twice, not even go to Cincinnati. Borough kind of feels like the right temperament. "So I think we're pretty familiar with WHO Clive Palmer is. Yeah. I would say so it's a pretty unmistakable seavy Queensland billionaire and mining magnates one time proprietor of a dinosaur theme park cold sores. He is currently trying to build a fully functioning replica of the titanic why not and who could forget three is as an MP. That's the abridged version and you don't have to read the fine print to know he treats legal action as a kind of religion. In fact, he wants listed litigation as a Hobby in magazine perform and like a lot of hobbyists. He has decided to explore a nation in this instance, starting legal battles with the state of Western Australia Muslims nine hundred in my political reporter for W. Today Yeah. That's that's the that's the job. What's What's so it's probably doing the same thing actually. Ridiculous distinction there. So here. Twenty four hours a day on running around after cloth Parma they've done. Right, and that's because Clive Palmer has about half a dozen active legal cases against the state of wwl right now, the biggest one could send the state broke and we will get to that shortly, but there is so much to untangle years. So maybe for the sake of clarity we should start at the state border. What's the dispute here? Right, now, and this is the sense of to treat this stuff because they all they're all around a couple of big issues. They might be a lot a lot of actions running around the country, but there's really two big. Themes or two big things is trying to achieve and the the state border is one of them. So W I. Five around the country. Now, I think we've got a hot water which makes it difficult for anybody to get into the state This means that unit an exemption and there's no more just crossing I've around driving across the floor and hey, you I in the end, the police to actually say Yep, you're allowed to come in one of those exemptions that you can get is for business playful but it's not like a foregone conclusion I look at your case I think are you really need to be site will say, yes of you come in my cloth towel. Had I a crack getting an exemption it was not back. Now this is Normal people say well Unites Pandemic and it will just Labor Day Clark took that whole things at the high court saying hi, this things. You count actually stopped me coming into the site. He's got a he's got. He's property but more importantly a good majority of his business is in w I'd I ions mines in the northwest so he's Not I should be allowed to coming you guys don't. And did he also wanted to do something with hydroxy chloroquine or or did I not? Just a bad drain that was true. So Hey. Hey Board. A COUPLA hundred, hundred million shots to the staff. When this became popular in the early stages of the pandemic Donald Trump was running around saying this might work. So. He got on board that he's got a he's got a class Thomas Action which brought alcohol of the staff and. Hygiene. So stroke it in w is so yeah he put that on the on his application coming in that kind of got lost in the whole mix per year you're quite right. So does that mean he just kind of has a warehouse now? Chloroquine sitting somewhere. Yeah. Wanted to know where exactly where he's. Okay. So he puts in an application to enter the state and gets knocked back yet armed himself with some QC's and Texas to the High Court. What do people make this challenge initially? Well look, the Hod border is very popular in W I. Say it as the principal, the Principal Line of defense against the ten damage we've got one hundred fifty is now is not community transmission. and. So I went pomme rock south and says I want to bring down this board. All Hell broke loose. It were very unhappy with him. premia mock McGowan spearheaded the campaign against him and really hey, became. Public enemy number one in fact, that's they're the exact words that. mcgown yes. In relation to comment of have A. Blue with Mr Palmer is the enemy of what's the strategy the enemy. The enemy of strike. And initially, the Commonwealth was on Clive Palmer's Saad right though saying hang on, he might have KC. Yeah. That's right. Sorry. attorney-general General Christian Porter himself West to straighten. Treasure. Attorney General in the West, destroying government for you went federal. Hey look in thought. Well, you know what we've got a responsibility here If you look at ninety two of the Constitution, it says pretty clearly intercourse between the site be absolutely free. The feds were on board they not on board anymore why is that? Is it just to do with the optics of being aligned with Clive Palmer or they had a you describe it as a public backlash. Of Journalistic You know water cliche. But that that's really what it was our company on talk back social media everywhere you looked and I think they very quickly worked out. All right. We're an audience and nothing here it's being described as a victory for people power the federal government pulling its support for Clive Palmer's border battle with w way but the legal fight is not over yet with right. So the feds might have involvement but that point that the Attorney General Kristen Puerto raised that you mentioned earlier that you know these hardboard border might actually be unconstitutional that point still stands so. Clive Palmer have a strong argument the. Arguments about the constitution in fairness a lot of the lawyers look inside. Hi, how does this site? Australians out have sort of some in the high court eventually when it gets the. But. That's certainly not the court of public opinion and hey, just really has been. Vilified. The. The West Australian this week depicted you Dr Evil as a kind towed the headline was passed. Up so you Mr Palmer Clive Palmer. There on the line from the gold. coast. So. It'll be months before the High Court hands down a decision on wwl hod border and a lot of people will be watching when it does because that decision could affect every other state and territory with border restrictions. If the court finds favour of Clive Palmer and in the meantime he has launched a separate case. He's suing the W. I premiere for Defamation Permeate China, and had a very public press conference where are they went pretty hot on cloth on plot he's acting in the interest of Western Australia or strategy he only cares about himself so he threatened and cajoled. Cold Manetti, the site might a lot of allegations gives were true every week in. Western Australia. I people commit suicide the. Domestic. Violence right is now gone up three hundred percent, but it was before the border closure. because they're real people to die and Halloween all right off to the federal court you guys. WanNa accountable that was. This a personal defamation re. Floating around Premier.

"Because in two thousand and twenty and moving forward the day and age and listen I'm not trying to diminish Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time. The day and age of playing like that is over. The only quarterbacks that will succeed in this league moving forward are going to be guys that can move around. You don't need to be Lamar Jackson. Be Gotta be like Joe Borough, you to be like you gotta be able to move. Behind the pocket and every once in a while, take off and make a play with your legs. And that's what he did a night thirty, seven, sixty, one, three, hundred, sixteen yards, three touchdowns. Week, two of his NFL rookie season. Thursday night on the road. Now I get there only ten thousand fans there or whatever. But Man I'm GONNA tip my hat to Joe Borough I can see and I mean I watched the Games but I understand why Lsu fans love the guy. If I'M A CINCINNATI BENGALS FAN win or lose the results of these games. Don't even matter the future does and I have the future quarterback I. You basically have your Modern Day version of Carson Palmer you have something special. You know you had you from Carson. Who was a stud to Dalton who was just a middle of the road guy but the team was so good back to a the this version of Carson a guy, but he can move. And you gotTa Star quarterback. And if they build it a ride around in the next couple of years Europe playoff team because that's how the NFL works. Now let's go to the other side. Baker Mayfield Sixteen to twenty, three for two hundred plus yards and two touchdowns. But he threw a terrible terrible pick. One things pretty clear with the Cleveland browns. They have a dominant one to tandem running back. Nick. Is a monster. Kareem. Hunt was a starting running back two years ago for arguably one of the best offenses we saw the last decade in. Kansas. So we've been cooped up in the house a lot not a getting out a lot Robert is there anything you kind of miss about the about the road trip or going on long drives? Experience it beginning to end while taking in the scenery also a great time for the children to learn about metal machine music. So. When Miles Gray and I drove the Mazda six thirty from Palm Desert San Diego, I really enjoyed the scenery along the way and I feel like the car itself helped a lot with that like the interior of the car is crafted with what they call an essential EST approach. So while it's got a lot of features like Wi fi, you vehicle status navigation displays etcetera it really doesn't feel crammed with distracting lights in visual. Decoy. And speaking of features, the thirty also has a really good factory soundsystem. They loaded the car up with some high definition sample tracks for us to try like we listen to. Mookie Betts makes history with another 3-home run game

"So mookie betts last. Night Raby. Three homers Ford does in a game for the sixth time in his career Johnny. Sammy Sosa the only other players do that and movie didn't in a thousand fewer games basically in Mayes and fifteen hundred fewer than So when you look our call you red sox fan but you grew up there for goodness sakes and you see mookie bats, the red sox traded away it off to a start like this and avenue another three homer game. What do you think? Well I. Think it happens on the same day that the red sox give up seventeen runs and look at a single late in the Celtics and Bruins I think both lost and the Patriots are going to start a season without Tom Brady I think this is I think this is a reminder of the come up in Boston sports fans are are about to have to deal with and the next few years now I mean look it's It's a tough pill to swallow for red SOx nation to know that. One of the transformational players of his generation in an era when Mike Trout is playing mu batches is going to be in the conversation. You know there's there's a Jack Nicklaus Arnold. Palmer. Gary Player. There's the Tiger Woods Phil. Mickelson for Awhile, David Duval conversation. I, mean my child's GonNa. Have you know mookie Betts in Clayton Kershaw and that's what this group is going to be about and to know that he was once part of your franchise and now he's not and a franchise paid him a lot of money and you believe your franchise and was capable of doing the same. For those that are moving in dying with the Red Sox I know it sucks. It really really does it's It's just a it's just a reminder and he's got to be that guy we all grew up with them that. Whatever he does he does to a level that few others can do it. So the three six times you know that's the same guy that has four. That's the same guy that bowls three hundred games. He does those things and and there'll be no surprise. You know when he wins more world series wins MVP's that's that guy he's the guy we all grew up with he's just doing it at the highest athletic level.

Who should replace Ellen?

"News is ongoing. Generous. Ongoing News that won't stop are one nemesis might be replaced by our other nemesis. On their talk show the Ellen show. Well, these are that this is them news, but I do feel like Ellen could be replaced with a WHO, if this all comes to fruition or like a WHO thinks so too person because I'm seeing a lot of people nominate various talk show e people although apparently the rumors are like James Corden is going to replace Ellen, but like he has a show so. That makes no sense to me on any. That's what blows my mind. Why he has eight hundred shows. He has just made another daily show like that doesn't make any sense to me at on. The also has carpool. Karaoke. And then he also has the cat sequel like he has plenty, oh. Yeah. Let's replace a supposedly nice person with another supposedly nice person like. Haven't. We learned anything from this thing. These people are Nice. They suck. I think always be wary of people who say their thing is being. I think the number, one person who should clearly replace Allen is Kiki Palmer. There's literally no. Better obvious. Getting a lot of a lot of traction and she showing up a lot of tweets because it's like she just had a talk show that got canceled for no reason on ABC. Well, it was like that one hour of Commerical Strahan. Michael? And Kiki Sarah? There was A. Third Sarah. Sarah. And Michael and Kiki It just give it to clean working it. Just everyone likes he. We Love Kiki. She's a great host. Who else do you think if if we're going if for skewing young? I think we to Kiki for skewing older, I think it should go to fucking the woman who should have gotten David Letterman, amy. Sedaris like give it to amy sedaris because people like her. She's silly. I don't know that, amy, the thing is I. Don't know that Amy Sarah's would want to do that I. Feel like. I don't need that. We're talking about this on the Patriot. If you WANNA. Go listen to that about how drew Barrymore also has daily, show a daytime show coming out, and I'm like who would want this job? Drew Barrymore wants this job since when like it's just to meal a a weird job that you wouldn't want that could turn you or probably. Turn you into a monster, right? Yes. but the to provide a context in case you've been under a rock people are like there. There have been the rumors for years and years and years, but specifically the past few months they've really you know the hit a critical mass and started being reported publicly like Ellen is an asshole to everyone. Ellen is an asshole. The people she works with Ellen makes people not talk to her ellen cruel. But now there are reports by like news and variety and insider that it wasn't just ellen being a to everyone and celebrities and not liking Ellen like being on Ellen show. It's that the executive producers were actually like being abusive like in sexually harassing the employees. So it's like a culture. Culture of toxicity. That is the sort of thing that I don't that Ellen is deciding up allegedly that she doesn't want to deal with anymore. So she's like this sucks like I just rather not do this anymore. Right. So but this rumor, this isn't this is in fact, this is rumor because people keep their keep going back and forth and saying some some sources say she's not leaving this show sums his sources as she's leaving the show. I. Can't imagine somebody as likely a annoyed with the whole situation who is known to be not a very nice person would want to continue to fake be nice and have to apologize and half to like kind of whatever because these rumors have been. Kind of like I for some reason I, keeping you Kevin Spacey Pre the abuse allegations like when everyone knew he was gay, but no one knew he was gay like it was weird thing where it was like if you knew, you knew if you didn't, you had no idea what be totally shocked it. Kind of feels like that type of Hollywood news where like everyone knew that Ellen was secretly mean except for Ellen fans who had no idea where living happily with ellen everyday of their life and like the show was wildly successful, right? very strange. A very strange thing. Do you think that this will happen because people are so bored in their craving, the Gospel, and then somebody just this is this is what I mean I, think it's I mean. It's a combination of a lot of things at one of is like the people finally speaking out about their employers. It's like finally like shutting down like the. The systemic issues and leg, not being corporate America and knowing that people will support them and believe them and believe them, and that like the media machine of Ellen isn't powerful enough to shut down. So many voices if enough come out and and we'll talk about it later in the episode, but it's like the it's similar to the. Vanessa. Morgan thing, it's it's shades of an ESA Morgan being like I'm going to speak up against the riverdale creators and the Riverdale producers because people are people are realizing that they can do that and they won't get like dumped on by the press or of their fans they will be seen as like heroes. But. It's also just like, I, Think Dakota Johnson had a tiny bit to do with it because Dakota Johnsons like Open crubaugh open open. Rudeness to Ellen SORTA. Gave People. I don't know permission to speak about rumors that she's an asshole more openly. They're like, it looks like that's what Dakota's referencing. So I didn't even know you liked me. Of course, I. Like you. You Knew I. Liked you. You've been on the show many times and don't I show like. But I did invite you and you didn't come. So this time you invited me, are you sure? How do you? I don't think. So ask everybody. Jonathan. Your producer. I was that, why didn't I go? I don't know that became a meme. You have people like Brad Garret and who else replied to him. Leah Tom's Tom's joins. She is mean she is. She. Yes. Now, I can't believe I just called the Thomson. So Deutsche US minor. That was obsessed the disease of this show right here. Yeah. Leah Thompson also respond to that and said Yep I mean, I just think that it's like no one was a true story note once you lose grip on the fear, you are the power you had over I mean, and it's funny because then you have scooter Braun coming out her being like Ellen is great. I. Love Allen is like so people still. Look at the people coming out and say L. Like scooters, hedging his bets at this, all go away and back to normal and Ellen will still be powerful and whatever, and then you have people speaking out i. just it's a fascinating reveal of a monolith almost kind of crumbling that you didn't think would ever. Be exposed like this. I didn't. It seems like Palmer is getting a lot of A lot of press over like a lot of tweets being could replace. Ellen is trending key Palmer got a lot. Tiffany haddish. Got A lot that woman who does the like trump impersonations? What's her name? Sarah? Cooper. She got a lot of people tweeting about her I mean, I think it's just bomber just someone who someone who actually. Got Some tweets booing reply Oh doodoo be from drag race also got A. Drag. Race. Got I. saw that. Yeah. But I think he palmer when you when you want someone who has like the resume as well like. You of don't WANNA, pick someone random like Sarah Cooper. As funny as she is on twitter, because like her her her skills as a as an interviewer, not proven whereas Kiki, Palmer is a link interviewer host. Yeah I mean I would say like the Ellen slots, big slot made we just move up the ladder. We get Kelly Clarkson in that slot. We get Drew Barrymore Kelly was and we get key. Palmer. Work. Curse, lot I know these are all people on different network. So it makes literally no sense but you. Better like we. We cannot confuse the audience. We must replace the Ellen show with someone named. Ellen. Ellen Ellen. Page's like don't look at me like another gay. Just like I will not I will. Zone POMPEO, she wouldn't do it. I. Don't I don't need Elon Pale. Ellen Page Ellen Popular, and Never Would Ellen Pompeo every interview Ellen Pao's ever done. It's been like I. Love Grey's Anatomy I. have nothing but free time like. She will never do that. You know who would do it. Who Ellen Barkin? Embark and all Ellen Barkin wants is a soapbox like did someone say soapbox?

Coronavirus Q&A: Running Outside and Petting Dogs

"Let's get to the questions. We got so many from our list. We picked a few and show them to you. So we're going to have you answer them right now and provide color commentary throughout you. Sure. All right first question? What's the deal with running? I've heard inflicting things. What's the likelihood of? It means bread of someone runs past me okay. So this question makes total sense to me because I think there were some scary kind of initial studies around this. Man where it says runners could spread it for twenty feet and they were these vectors but that was kind of mildly debunked. Yeah. It was kind of dismissed them and there are parts of it that made sense but it wasn't considered to be like actually a real world scenario that was tested and it's really hard test that so. When I think about running, of course, it depends on what space you're in, right. So outside in fresh air going to have a lower risk if you're somebody if you wearing a mask if that person's wearing a mask, all of those things kind of factor in and as best we can tell Sam as a you know a somewhat general rule. The majority of transmission happens in close indoor situations where you're spending a good bit of time together. That is why it is absolutely essential to be wearing a mask especially inside it doesn't mean that there's no risk if you're outside and there's only a brief encounter but it's reduced. Running and you pass somebody for a second. I'm not super worried about that situation now they cough and sneeze, and you just slam right into it. Say I'm that's a different scenario. Go Home, wash your face, wash your hands but the you know the experts that I'm talking to are not super worried about that situation art follow up question for you on this topic as a runner. I have heard mixed messaging about wearing a mask. When you run some folks say well, you're outside you're moving fast, just dodge even stay away from people others are like you have to have it on all the time when I've done both. But when I've tried to run with a mask on my entire five miles I ended up with the wet mask and it's like I'm waterboarding myself. Yeah absolutely I mean, of course, wearing a mask if you can is a good situation and if you're in a really really busy city and you can't get away from people if you're like constantly dodging people I actually do think it's probably a good idea. But if you're in an area where it's a little bit more open, I would say it's probably okay not to wear a mask when you're running A. Anytime, you have the choice between them a mask is going to be a safer bet but if you can get up really early before somebody's out there or go somewhere else in and it's you know like either I'm not gonNA run or I'm gonNA run without a mask. Then I think that's a decision you have to make. So you're saying we should be doing three am runs in cemeteries. Sam Stop. Phone. It in get up at three am and got it done. Get it done. Get it done. Yes. Next. Question from a listener about animals can I say hi to other people's Dogs Oh yeah, Samson is this question for Melissa is this question? This question is from Sanders. From. My Heart. And make sure they're OK. Okay. So I looked this up because I wasn't sure and the CDC has weirdly complicated guidance on this. So really some pets like dogs or cats have caught Kovic from humans, but the CDC says the risk of dogs than giving Cova to people is considered low like there's no evidence that you can get it from the for or the hair of other pets. But one of those owners that kisses your dog on the mound, I was just about to say. But this because the CDC still says, you should not interact with dogs outside their household. So I'm like man I guess the CDC is worried about people getting pet saliva in their mouths, but you shouldn't be mcing on somebody else's dog anyway Sam. If you see a dog and the dog is really really really cute. Oh my God you part of the Kids Sam Palmer's the kiss I cannot miss the kids you are. You're going to have to definitely miss the kiss for a while so but so but I will say, honestly, you know briefly a dog has come up to me and the dog park it's onerous faraway I pet it. I'll say I have pet but the. Official guidance lead those dogs alone. Sam. Understood understood.

"Couldn't play anymore at that point. Do you believe that back then. In that playoff game and that atmosphere was a concussion. You still felt like you could play. He might have gone back in the game back in two thousand one hundred percent everybody would now you can't they won't let you because somebody's watching top. There's a doctor. There's a head specialists on the field. There's so so much there's so many eyeballs on you and that frame by frame shot that you were just showing of his head hit like you can't you won't they won't let you go back and they're gonNA force you go in the locker room But especially back. In boomers day there was a couple of years. Yes yeah subway we're talking to the Great Carson Palmer. So you you're here for the Fedex air and ground player of the year you know on the The ground side of things. Derrick Henry had fifteen hundred and forty yards i. I can't say who I voted for all pro and everything else. I thought he should've been the all pro. Running back and Christian McCaffrey should have been a flex Guy Gerston McCaffrey. It's unbelievable because he is a threat out of the backfield. Do you know anything about Matt. Rule The new head coach of the Carolina Panthers adult like that and there. There's a reason I'm asking because I'm just wondering how they're gonNA use Christian. McCaffrey down there and who their quarterback is going to be. And do you think Cam Newton's GonNa end up staying there. I don't think Cam will be there. I I think too key. Let's get back to Chris McKay. Would he did this year if they had a coaching change they had obviously Rivera was fired. NORV Turner is no longer calling. Plays as you had. You went from Cam to a rookie quarterback to another rookie quarterback. Yeah Yeah I mean. We'll we'll yeah to have a thousand on the ground and a thousand. That's it's amazing. I I had a year with David. Johnson who almost got he had a thousand on the ground and he had like nine eighty on in the air. And we're going to get him that thousand yards week seventeen he gets his knee hurt in la against the against the rams like in the first quarter. And I saw how difficult it is to do that. And I guarantee you who wouldn't have gotten the twenty fifth why he wouldn't teen who who wouldn't have got what Dave Johnson wouldn't have gone a good especially if there was a bonus tied to it because the cardinals would never allow you to throw them with that. That was our game plan. Our game plan was to feed him the ball he he got hit on the knee. It was weird injury and he was out with like nine minutes left in the first quarter but what he did. This year was amazing. Easing with three different quarterbacks to different offense coordinator I think Matt rules the right guy for the job for Christians say yeah but he did at Baylor. He's a mismatch sky and that's that's a lot of what north does nor find ways to get guys get the ball guys hands against great mismatches. And that's what McCaffrey. McCaffrey was. Run routes on linebackers all year long. which it's no linebackers or safeties can cover him? Yeah you never in a situation like this because you had Marvin Lewis and then it was Hugh Jackson you knew and then Bruce Arians who you you knew but at a legitimate coach right but I'm trying to think he put yourself in the giants players perspective yesterday. Where a guy who's special teams coordinator wide receivers coach wasn't really interviewed by anybody else? Joe Judge Thirty eight years old guys younger than Eli. Manning is named the head coach. Like how do you you think you would react immediately. Go to Google and find out who the Elliot's yeah but I. I'm a little bit tentative to jump on that. I Love Special Teams Guys Getting Head Coaching Gigs Gigs. And the reason is they really understand. Game Management and Clock Management and so many of these offensive coordinators that are calling plays and then get elevated to the head coaching job or defensive coordinators even worse when they when they get that Gig. They've never had to call timeout. It's always been on the head coach and the quarterback but special teams coaches are so in tune with clock management and. Hey let's go for this on Fort Down or do we punt the ball and pin them back in their own. T- There's so many little things that that special teams coaches understand with clock doc. which as we know in this game right now? It's so important bill to manage the clock. You Watch you wash dollar check. Get Bella checked by Very by variable the other day and he just manages orange the clock perfectly which from defensive coordinator standpoint you don't see defense corners a great job but those special teams coaches. I really liked special. Teams Coaches Getting head coaching gigs. Because they really understand that aspect but I also think that you know Belichick was a special teams coach at one time and he appreciates that. John Harbaugh was a special teams coach at one time. He's he's become one of the better coaches and then you also watch the saints the Saints mismanaged the clock at the end of the first half end at the end of the game and they did it last year too. Yeah and everyone wants to talk about that. That P I called but they screwed up the clock so I I'm all for I'm all for special teams. Coach is getting that kind of GIG. They also are very raw and not that you need that in the NFL. But there's a great energy level that that special teams coach seemed to have and then when they get elevated the head coaching job. That's that's what they know their high energy they gotta get guys that are actually that don't really WanNa play special teams. They gotTA motivate them to go down and make a attack on kickoff guys that are making X.. Amount of dollars that think. They're not special teams players they can. They can find ways to motivate those guys so I I actually like the higher. The other thing too is that they have to worry about roster management like you know if somebody's injured on defense defense he may have to replace a gun or with a wide receiver completely so he has to know everything that's going on. He has to know what's going on in the training room. And as I think it's one of the reasons why bill check supported supported him as much as he did with the New York giants. So who knows. He's thirty eight years old right. I mean give them give them a lot of credit. He's been in the League for a long time. It's been a part of three super bowls in two National Championships Absolu. Bama I was a quarterback. That's a good thing. But but he's he's sat behind like you said he sat behind and seen Sabin. He seemed bellichik. So you're a fool if you don't learn anything from your past experiences. He's obviously not a full visa head coach of the giants. So he's got a ton he's just picked up little tidbits from both so those guys over the years and being a special teams guy like you're saying knowing the roster knowing how important it is when you got fifty three guys on the roster how important each fifty all those although spots are you gonNa have one of those in gay management of your own roster awake when guy goes down in game and let's say he's the wing on the field goal that's his. That's his yeah go figure out. WHO's the backup guy who you're gonNA put in there and this is a guy that's managing the roster as the game is unfolding Carson Palmer on boomer and Geo and the fantasy bs sports now we got three touchdown or more favorites in divisional playoff weekend? which I feel like we don't see a lot of that especially with the parody in the NFL these days? Do you feel feel like. Are you smelling an upset out there in Idaho when you watch each game upset. I think anybody can win. Any one of these games I I know. I don't know exactly exactly the lines in each game. All right things. BIKING's are touched down there Plus seven devices can go in there and win. I don't know about I don't I don't think Tennessee can go into Baltimore win but but the Texans can going to Kansas City and when the seahawks can go into to Lambeau and I mean this is going to be an awesome weekend. I can't wait. I think the Ravens probably run away. I think they Are they nine and a half or nine and a half. So it's Texans chief Denny Hill has been a really good story this year. Now he didn't throw over. You know seventy five yards last week against the Patriots and and you know the the Titans Defense shut out the Patriots in the second half but though Mark Jackson experiences a completely different set of circumstances and the titans have not seen Baltimore more normal Lamar Jackson in the last two years. Yeah they're in for rude awakening at home. In by side you played in. It's it's not easy to go into Baltimore and play. It's GonNa be a weird. There's always like a weird mist in the air. The ball's a little bit more wet than you expect. There's always an odd win that kind of circles throughout their you got the band. It's a college atmosphere. It's a really really really cool is the night game. It's just I I can see Baltimore running away with that. And Lamar absolutely going off. But also other Games Greg Games the the other AFC North teams. Did you have like a personal dislike for one more than the other steelers browns Ravens steelers. That's from from. It's not a rivalry for the steelers. But it's a rivalry for the bengals going against I mean they're the epitome of what every team and organization aspires to be consistent year in you lose rothlisburger and you're still almost in the playoffs. They draft well. They they don't go out and go crazy and free to say that they're they're the epitome You had a personal dislike for them to and respect right now though totally totally I dislike them. You know might Troy Pall Mall who I was. Obviously one of the greatest players. Play the game and played on that side of the ball. He's a roommate in college. So we that little rivalry. We had But I I mean the steelers. They're they're always in the playoffs. There always seems like they're always miss super. The amazing thing is is that this goes all the way back to when I played you know steeler week for the bengals thoroughly and I I remember watching the NFL draft. When I was playing? I'm like Dan. They took another linebacker. God How many more linebackers can they can defense on my consult. Can they just take a wide receiver just wants and they never take corners. They never spend money inquiries until they got Joe Haden but it's that front seven has been so dominant since Joe Greene's damage. Yeah just the culture. It's a culture that I always find a coach cower on the NFL. Today and I always talk about culture and all that other stuff and how you know there is something to be said about consistency agency and the fact that they stayed with Mike Tomlin and coach cower and Chuck Knoll for as long as they did. I if you'd like to think that other franchises will learn about that but other franchises this is pick bad coaches every once in a while. They don't Tomlin's a great coach cowers agree. They all coward pick great coaches. They don't raise so you play with Chad Chad Johnson. Or what's he going by now. What is he is back to back? Oh He's okay so when you see what Antonio. Oneal Brown's gone through an alley. Kind of wiggled his way out of Pittsburgh you think he's going to have a brand new start in Oakland and basically whereas welcome there then goes to England gets you know basically is GonNa cut from there..

"Is a really quick. It's off his fingers. The ball is spinning and spiraling cutting through the air and he transfers his his weight and gets some momentum into the ball and from different angles and Sommese he's accuracy. He's got a touch ball. He runs for whatever he he looks like. He looks like a rookie quarterback. He'll come into his own. Season Continues Go. We know you have to go quickly kicker that we're trying to get a try out before. Were you watching the controller. I can't quit this. No no no no. This is the last guy thought he could kick kick. It's it's very very difficult right here. Now just watches lasting before you go. Can this guy make it in the NFL. Now that is a seven at the has lime green kicking shoes and a cut off t shirts okay in my my book to. He has a mullet assign him. He has a mullet he did take the red-eye from Salt Lake to get to the jets rags facility and he's standing out out there that look like an nfl and he's got a hammer. Yes sixty three yards yeah and then look at that different though when you're kicking in front of one cameraman man compared to one hundred thousand people kicking in wider goalposts into Whitewater goalposts forty four yards wide Aaron Ground Carson Palmer air and ground vote today on. I'm sure that Sammy Watkins the candidates. I'm personally I would acted. I think ACTA played an entire your complete game. He was throwing the ball all over the place accurately. His touch ball has go balls. He threw some. You know those inside a forty yard. Go balls rank really you have to be perfect and then he aired some out giant. He played the giants but I thought Dak released showed He showed what he can do. SORTA really complete game and Marlin MAC DOC in my pick for the for the Fedex ground player of the year for X. Ground Player of the week at one hundred seventy four rushing yards looked really good between the tackles has got some speed about Lamar Jackson not a band. Lamar Jackson was like seven seven. There was nobody around him. There was no safety in the middle of the field all game long. They were just letting everybody. Miami was just letting people run. Go routes just seem routes down the middle of the field with no no free safety. Maybe they want to maybe they may oh. You think he's a picnic right now. If you guess yeah I would take them not right now. I WANNA see WanNa see a handful of these other. Guys play 'cause. "It's still early. Today's young in New York City crowds. I started looking over my shoulder. I start twitching little bit. We do too and we're here every day. So this is what happens when you play for the Bengals the rest of your life your twitching and looking over your shoulder solve a massive question. Did you watch Sam Darnold over the weekend. Okay so give me your assessment of what you saw and what you think of his performance. And where can we go from here. I think in the state of New York we have some exciting football years ahead of between those two Josh Josh Allen and Sam Darnold. I mean two quarterbacks that are coming into their own their learning they're getting better. They both don't have a ton of threats around the really having to put their offense is on their shoulders and maybe a Sam a little bit less because he's got lady on but you know no real clear cut dominant number one a bunch of kind of number twos user receiver so as they continue to build that offense around Sam you're going to see him grow and grow and grow and and with a guy like Adam Gates in the mind that atom has the schemes and the things that he can do in the easy completions that he can create for Sam. I think it's a great combination but really for the state of New York getting awash. These two guys play against each other a whole bunch launch over the next handful years. I always think I was talking to jail yesterday. I was saying you know there. There are moments in a quarterback's career that they're opportunities that present themselves where you could really set yourself up as the leader of the team and I know you had a bunch of these in Cincinnati was amazing to me. You didn't even start your rookie year in Cincinnati that that's like blows my mind when I think about what goes on in today's Today's world but you know Sam chance to do that on Sunday. He had a chance to lead his team back to try to get a win after they gave up sixteen point lead and was unable able to do it. So what do you think his mindset is now going into this game next Monday night against the browns the seasons young I mean Yeah Yeah. That was a great opportunity a great tone setter at at home season opener to rally the city behind you rally your team around you but it's not the end of the world. There's a lot of football left. It's only week one. You can get hung up on. You know you only get sixteen opportunities and that was division game and all he's still young quarterback. That's a young offense that does like. I said doesn't have a ton of threats. There's really on Salmon Sam Levy on and defenses know that they know that you know. There's not a bunch of guys that that have to back up. They can sit on routes. They can jump outs. They got to stop the run with lady on. They have have to play close the box so as the season unfolds. I think you're GONNA see the play action game really start to open up because when you don't have a clear cut dominant number one receiver you have to do things with play action in order to get him. You know get some of the receivers you have downfield over the top defenders. You lived in the diva wide receiver world. You had one of the most notorious previous ones on your team what he did. Chad Johnson Chatto True Cinco sort of really paled in comparison Cinco or judge Johnson but those guys those guys those guys meeting one guy three guys shadow Cinco Chad Johnson and Teo those was guys make a b. I mean he's in a whole new stratosphere eva and the baggage that comes with him is unlike any other. It's one thing after after another and I don't like the fit I don't like the you know adding that that kind of character to that kind of team. I don't think it's going to mesh well. I don't think it's going to jail. I think think ABC's can expect to have fourteen hundred yards and ninety seven receptions and twelve touchdowns and they. That's not how they're built. There aren't ninety seven targets for for AB in that system. You gotTA spread the ball. There's a lot of stuff underneath you know. He wants to be outside. He doesn't WanNa be in the slot and I think that's what they're gonNA. Do is use them all lacrosse routes and all the man the man creation routes that they get they run with Julia middlemen in the running with Gronk for all those years now. They're gonNA want a be inside running those routes. Ab wants to be outside. He wants to be one on one. He wants to run. Go routes and posts so I just don't like you know. I don't like the fit bit. I don't think it's going to mesh well. We're talking to Carson Palmer did Marvin Lewis. Chad Johnson just do his thing I mean what did he miss meetings that he was. He laid to practices practices around that kind of stuff. No Chad Chad showed up to work and that's the one thing that that a be used to do. Ab used to show up to work when he went what he he didn't the big money and didn't become one of the best wide receivers football things change what how where did a change frontiers perfect man that hit you. That's the line of demarcation. That's it I I think more so it's you know you you let them get away with this. You let them get away with that. Let them show up you know he doesn't make the team playing on their way to Cleveland you wonder Mike Tomlin basically pacified him and allowed him to do quotas just on Mike Tommy Mike Tomlin's bottles through but he's a coach the bosses or maybe the guy's guys going. Hey we're not paying him X. amount of dollars to be suspended. Get Him on the field. Make sure he's Davis Mindset. That's the reiter mindset say you know. I remember talking to rich Gannon about the whole raider situation out there. Now Davis like I don't really care what's going on. During the week I just want him on the field on Sunday no matter who it is and that was the whole thing about the raiders just win baby right so I'm assuming I can't imagine you know of all the teams the steelers with their history and their six super bowls in your hall of fame quarterback and you know the legacy of that franchise they would allow somebody just to run roughshod over him you know and it was so dramatic every are we there was so much drama going on between the bells hold out between all the Ab stuff for a couple of years that I was. I was thinking the same thing so I'm back on. This is the steelers I know this this isn't the Rooney family running this organization the way they've run it to all of a sudden two thousand sixteen seventeen eighteen hit and there was all that drama with Ab with lady on on and they clean they cleaned house. They got rid of it. Maybe you can put on anybody. It's always GonNa fall on Mike Tomlin as he's the head coach during during those years but they got. They got tired of it. They just got rid of it and now you don't have that explosive playmaking ability. You Got James Connor who's a good back but he's he's no lady on Bell. You got a bunch of receivers but no AB in Pittsburgh game breaking type later Schuster's finding out. You're the number one target that we gotta stop and this is where we're going to do it. You Know Jon Gruden Wall Right How do you think this whole thing played out in Oakland. They won last night which was great and I think you probably use it as motivation Vatian. Are you surprised about how it kind of unfolded in Oakland. Yeah I mean I think grooten during his Monday night days went in and was watching practice on Fridays and watching practice on Saturdays and fell in love with Ab and fell in love is he was standing on the sideline getting ready to commentate there Monday night game things out there watching Abe man. I'd I'd like to coach that guy. I'd like to give my hand that guy and create show him this and teaching. There's I think he saw that that was his call and I don't know if may I had his back on it from the get go but he had to had to accept it so. I think you know looking back. I think it was it was GRUDEN's call he wanted. AB THEIR MAC didn't Mac try to play the bad cop came out and said you're either all in your all out they went through all that and finally Mayo and got into a confrontation and whatever happened between those two maybe there was you know suppose a punch that was going to be thrown but I think I think it from me. From my perspective. It looks like Gruden wanted him there. That was his guy he wanted math to go and pay him and signed item and it didn't work out and what they did the right thing before the season got started. They got him out the door so they can start Art Carson Palmer. You talked about a punch being thrown. There was a punch that was thrown in your locker room at halftime between Ocho Cinco New Jackson explain what happened during the halftime that that class and that's the game that you got hurt in it was a it was a playoff game against the steelers. I didn't see the punch. Kimo von knocked you out me right but I was in the training room with my knee being ice and I heard commotion and there was a fight but I mean how many locker rooms were you. There's a fight between maybe not between a player player and a coach player. You've seen a lot of course oh yeah I saw. I saw two guys going at it that I thought they were going to kill each other. It was in training camp and it was out of uniform and it was in the dorms down at Wilmington College but so this this commotion that was going on what was he. He's screaming about it. Who knows who cares. I mean at the end of the day you're not. GonNa get knocked out by one chose punches right. GonNa hurt a little bit yeah but you know tempers flare. You know I think I think it was a close game. I don't remember I was like I said you got hurt. But it was close I your backup. Backup was great but yeah and and so when something like that happens and then you know. Oh that player whoever it is is back the next year and there's no repercussions from that that's kind of like what happened in Pittsburgh. Ab Gets Away with showing up late here missing this meeting and then not come into practice on Thursday and then plays on Sunday once you create that what's a snowball effect it continuously grows and grows and grows and now it's like he showed up to to who get two days of training camp and Oakland is ridiculous. I put them in a really bad spot. I can talk to you for hours and hours and hours because things keep popping into my head as I sit here and look at you but here's the one thing I do have to ask you you played for you Jackson out there no in Cincinnati as a wide receiver and I think office coordinator right. He's also the head head coach and he supposedly said he made the greatest trade in NFL history acquiring new from the bengals and that lasted a year it lasted a year and a half half a year and a half so them in college to USC so what so he knew very well and you guys so wouldn't Baker Mayfield basically went off on him the money he got fired from Cleveland issue back to Cincinnati we used surprised by any of that is just silly. I mean you know and then fell coaches changed changed teams. They go from one team from division division division. You know everything that comes out of Baker's mouth as a wildcard. He's just not maybe not after this last week what it happened at home in the home opener but I mean he just it's like he just couldn't wait to keep pushing his buttons and taking shots and taking shots and taking the shots but I got a little slice of humble pie this weekend thirty points Hangman Home Opener for sure Carson Palmer Fedex air and ground you can use the Hashtag air and ground go to NFL dot com slash Fedex each week they're going to donate four thousand dollars and support the USO get obviously.

Like, we put a lot of heads on television. And we know hair and Jesse Palmer has been at on this mount Rushmore for us of hair at ESPN for a long time. Now. So Jesse a thank you for joining us, and you can tune in this Sunday from twelve before for who's in on ESPN. He's also going to host a baking show on the food network Monday at nine pm because he's a dream boat. Also, just generally, thank you. Yeah. Just generally thank you for being dreaming. And and so if we had to make you choose and say three best heads of hair at ESPN, according to Jesse Palmer who we all ranked in there. Let's start with number three. Are you ready? Jessie, are you ready to do this with it? Yeah. Yeah. I'm still I'm still scrambling. After what I learned about male octopuses or occupy or whatever you call them. But yeah, I'm ready to do this list. All right. Let's do this. So are we doing the history of ESPN here? Mike are we just doing is what he had never Jesse Palmer? How would you? How would you prefer to do this dreamy legend of hair? Jesse palmer. I didn't we could go current it. That's cool. If you guys. Yep. That'd be fine whatever's cool with you is within you. You're doing top three here. You're gonna go three two one. I just want to see if yours matches up with mine. All right. Let's say you write your list, and then I'll come to you. And we'll have a battle off. So Jesse Palmer dream boat with us his third best head of hair at ESPN right now belongs to. "Fire your mouth. That's my favorite part. It doesn't burn your mouth. Hank is a huge baby. He can't have time made it hot sauce. Bigtime loves Franks, red hot. So check out, Frank's red, hot right now by it in every store everywhere because it is the best hot sauce in the War, I think is the most versatile hot sauce in the world. Yeah. So check it out. Frank's red hot. Quick note before we get Carson Palmer, PF t was late to this interview and up. So that's why he didn't speak for the first ten minutes. I was there. Yeah, he just wasn't there. Well, fun fact, I thought that the interview had been cancelled. It hadn't and I was nude in the to blame us and I received the back to back to back phone calls. Yes, that's. And that's universal code for somebody's dead. Yeah. And so even though there are many signs in the locker room saying, do not see phone calls here. I broke the rules because that's how much I care about you guys and then tried to blame tried to blame you and say, someone told him that it was canceled whom could've told you sides. MIR hang word on the street was cancelled. So yeah, I guess that's partially on me. Important part is treating PF do like a five year old and telling them what is scheduled part is I was at the gym. So here's Carson Palmer. PF t- enters around the ten to twelve minute Mark. Okay. We now welcome on a very special guest. He is former quarterback for the USC Trojans for the Cincinnati Bengals for the Oakland Raiders for a minute, which will bring up and the Zona cardinals. It's Carson Palmer. What's going on with how your brother on before, have you? Yes. Yeah, because he was like supposed to be some guru or something. Then you had a show and you realize he wasn't Josh Allen yet. Who else did he say Sam darnold, Josh, Allen. And so he came on, I think we ended up with him being a QB ninja because we didn't want to say he was a whisper guru yet. You have to be at least fifty two guru. Exactly. All right. So let's start there. Well, first of all, you're here with FedEx so people can fans can go FedEx, air and ground NFL program. You can go to NFL dot com slash FedEx, and you can join the conversation on Twitter using hashtag air and ground..
