Al Jazeera Reporter Killed During Israeli Raid in West Bank

"Turn to that. Because I've tried to figure out who shot whom and the Palestinians are not the Palestinian authority is not cooperating with the idea. What is your assessment of the situation, doctor Oren? So last night I was talking to an Israeli journalist and I said, just watch your authority is going to say that they found a 5.56 bullet in the journalists. Now the Israeli forces use 5.56 palisades usually use 7.62 at the colossal cost bullet, but they also do have American a fours and M 16s. And I also think that the Palestinians wouldn't cooperate with an Israeli offer for a joint investigation. And they rejected it, even though the Biden administration asked Allison is to do it. They quickly closed the case. I heard this morning that they've already buried the body. And the passwords are making a calculation. Yeah, maybe the Biden administration will get a little aggravated, but the international community is going to come down hard on Israel. I was looking at the international press coverage, NBC had an item on it where they did an interview and the Israeli. They only talked about the greeting Palestinians and the implication is that we are guilty before we're judged. And

Fourteen 'Smash and Grab' Suspects Released

"Good morning, everybody. We are back on Lebanon and will wit from krager you and if you're a California resident right now, I'm sure that you are recognizing the massive uptake and crime that is happening in our streets in our communities at our restaurants and in our very own backyards. It's extremely concerning, considering that the California policy makers are at this point incentivizing this, I want to share a story here that was put out by the Washington examiner. 14 suspects accused of smash and grab incidences have been released from custody partially through the zero bail policy passed by California's Supreme Court earlier this year. And if any of you are in San Francisco right now listening, you know that shoplifting has been decriminalized so long as it's under the figure of $950. So what we're seeing right now in the state of California is a bunch of hoodlums running around robbing people, sometimes at gunpoint, and stealing their things, knowing that they're going to get off for this and they're going to be just fine because of these zero bail policies. And because of these progressive legislators, and that's the problem a lot of times with progressive policies, they identify a problem, and the problem that they have identified now is, well, we have too many people sitting in prison, or we have too many people of color specifically sitting in prison, and they've identified the crimes that they're sitting in prison for and they go, well, how do we help this? And how do we help people of lower income? How about we institute zero bail policies or at the very least bail reform? And how about we decriminalize these crimes that are putting people in prison? And when we do that, surprise surprise, crime goes up, and it's not only happening in lower income communities as we speculated before. When the left was running with zero bail policies, bail reform, decriminalization of certain crimes and defunding the police, we said, you know who you're going to hurt, you're going to hurt low income communities. But now, it's seeping out of low income communities into middle income communities into higher income communities. We're seeing this in the Pacific palace palisades. We're seeing this in Beverly Hills. The crime is just exponentially growing in the state.

"He's hoping to catch more voters before the special election wraps up tomorrow. The conservative talk show host says the number of people who signed the recall petition shows that the state needs new leadership there. Two million people that signed that petition. A good A quarter of them to a third of them were the very people that voted for him. Just two years earlier. I'm talking about independents and Democrats. 63% of Hispanics voted for him two years earlier. Now the majority of Hispanics want him out. Elder is also campaigning in San Pedro and Costa Mesa today. Meanwhile, Governor Gavin Newsom is getting a major boost from the Oval Office. President Joe Biden is stumping alongside Newsom in Long Beach later this evening. An inside California Politics and Emerson College poll released today found the majority of California voters are saying no to recalling the governor. Legendary Lake Tahoe ski Resort is getting a new name. Squaw Valley is now called Palisades Tahoe. The operators of the resort changed the name after meeting with the leadership of Native American tribes who say the word squab is offensive to indigenous women case At least Darryl Saxman has this story. The West. You tribe, whose ancestral lands include the Lake Tahoe Basin, released a statement hailing the decision squads believed to have started out simply as a word for a young woman. But the West you people and other indigenous groups say that over time it came to be used as a derogatory and racist term against Native American women. It may not be the only wild area in California to be getting a new moniker. The state is considering changing the name of Patrick's Point State Park in Humboldt County. It's named for a homesteader who was accused of killing native Americans in the mid 19th century. The Yurok tribe has requested that it be called Sumida Park, which is the original name of the area. KCRW's Darryl Saxman reporting. The owners of the 70 year old Palisades Tahoe said they undertook an in depth discovery process and the name change reflects who we are as a ski resort and community. Royal treatment: Meghan Markle, Prince Harry detail racism, suicidal thoughts in Oprah tell-all

"Tonight. Buckingham palace bracing for the fallout after prince. Harry and duchess meghan. Markle broke their silence with a withering set of allegations against the palace including racist remarks by a member of the royal family in what may be the biggest threat to the modern monarchy. Here's abc's deborah roberts scathing accusation from one of their own megan shared with us. There was a conversation with you about archie skin tone. What was that conversation. But conversion harry and meghan lane accusations of racism at the feet of the monarchy telling winfrey that a senior member of the royal family wonder how dark skin would be in those months when i was pregnant all around the same time so we have in tandem. The conversation of he won't be given security. It's not going to be given title and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born. What and who. Who is having that conversation with you. What going to tell me who the conversation. I think that would be very damaging to them. The palace has yet to comment but the allegation detonated like a bomb. The news so explosive. Harry clarifying an important point with on. Cbs this morning. We certainly knew that meghan struggled with issues to do with race and racism during times of working member of the royal family particularly in sections of the press. What we didn't know until megan's interview was of course that shade experienced it within the royal family is something that will absolutely send shockwaves through the palace. Harry described at least by all accounts A monarchy that is Archaic out of touch bigoted possibly racist. Was that shocking to you. Absolutely not no no no the institution that is royal family has in the past number of years the found wanting it'd be found to be out of touch with its own people you only have to look at the backlash of the royal family. Had when princess. Diana passed away. The fact that it didn't occur to the institution that they need to come out and express sorrow express compassion with the rest of the people. Tells you exactly why it's case that did not surprise me. The big aji doesn't surprise me. The racism does not surprise me as for longtime royal watchers and the british public. Many are coming to the monarchy's defense a really see the point of insulting a ninety four year old woman and her family rest of her family and leaving unsavory was unsavory remarks about racism which. I really not backed up by factors. I can see if you're gonna make claims that big claims you really have to make it very clear what you're saying. We'll have a real family and speak jim. Just just be careful because they had country and we love them to bits and ain't got long left. I just leave him alone by the anyway. Some pushing back against the implication archie would not be a prince in part because of his race imaging. Lloyd webber has long followed the royal family shea at the moment doesn't qualify to be a prince only the grandchildren of monarchs get to be print so princess otherwise to any royals too. Many members of the royal family on she is the great grandchild of the queen so that full doesn't qualify for the title. Now the queen made an exception for george charlotte and louis because george one day will be king. Archie won't be if harry's wife had been white would the same thing apply that aren't you would not have been a prince absolutely so it had nothing to do with nothing to do with rice. Aren't you could become a prince. When grandfather prince charles becomes king. How is this playing out particularly among black britons today. We'll see the structural reasons of what it is. What i find particularly interesting. Is that people think that supporting the monarchy means. You can't hold them to account the queen is not beyond reproach the royal family's not beyond reproach it they do something wrong. We should call it out. Another bombshell megan saying her emotional distress was far deeper and more painful than anyone knew revealing. How while pregnant with archie. She was struggling with isolation and had suicidal thoughts. I just didn't. I just didn't want to be alive anymore. And that was very clear and real and frightening constant thought. She says she asked buckingham palace for help but was rebuffed. Megan telling oprah it all came to a head more than two years ago that day she inhering looked the picture of happiness at royal albert hall but behind their smiles up painful truth. We had to go to this event and i remember him saying. I don't think you can go. And i said i can't be left alone. I was also shocked by megan's revelation that she was happy suicide. The thought it just makes me feel that. What have they done to megan. Megan like like me as an independent woman. A career woman well educated women. What happened to lead her to that position. That made me sad. Mental health has long been an important cause. For harry and brother. William founding the initiative heads together to end the stigma around it for monica that talks openly about mental health and even run so important initiatives such as heads together which talks about the importance of it being ok to say it really goes against everything that the palisade that they stand for when someone like meghan being so alone and feeling those laws megan's time as a royal got off to a shaky start megan herself admitting she was unprepared for life in the royal family. She didn't know what it meant to be a working world that she went into it naively that she didn't know how to curtsy. And i was crossed with harry. Harry watched his brother spend eight years giving kate time. What was he doing. Why didn't he tell them. Why didn't he coughed a meghan. So you fault. Harry for allowing meghan be so naive hub -solutely. The couple has never made a secret of their bitter resentment of the british tabloids especially in what they see as a double standard of the coverage between and megan. The press was also very tough on. Kate middleton it was quite vicious toward her but it seemed to be different when it came to megan. What she went through is nothing compared to what making us through and you have to look at the comparisons they make constantly between and catherine that is just another example of how they're trying of how the press tried to drive a wedge throughout the jaw dropping interview prince harry and meghan praise the queen but harry could hardly conceal an apparent deep rift with his father. Prince charles i feel really let down. I will always love him. But there's a law of heart that's happened. He even offered his shocking detail that after leaving the uk last year. His father for a time didn't take his phone calls. Swati stopped taking your calls. Because i took matters and by that point i took matters into my own hands.

House to vote on $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill this week

"Trillion coronavirus Relief bill will go to a vote this week. Republicans in Congress say it is too much money. Here's Congressman James Comber from Kentucky. Congress already appropriated $150 billion in the cares act for state and local governments. And not all this money's been spent. So the Biden administration is looking outside of Washington, D. C to build their case. Here's NPR White House correspondent Tamara Keith. When Mesa Arizona Mayor John Giles looks out his window at City Hall, he can see the convention center. It's become a hub for those seeking help in the pandemic. And on alternating days it is people that are there too. Up there drunk and get £50 of food, putting their trump or its people. They're waiting in line to get the vaccine. So it's a pretty sobering view from the mayor's office. His city got $90 million in relief funds last spring spent it all and Giles says they easily could have filed receipts for double that. Sobering view from his office window explains why this Republican mayor is pushing hard for the $350 billion in funding for state and local governments in the bill. You know this is it's just too important to engage in silly partisan debates. Most cities and towns didn't get direct help, like Mesa did. They had to wait for it to trickle down through their states and counties. The deadline to spend it isn't until the end of this year, so some are trying to make it last as they manage strapped budgets. For months now, a bipartisan group of mayors has been pushing for more. In July. We called ourselves July or bust. That's Dayton, Ohio Mayor Nan Whaley, a Democrat. Her city's budget has been slammed by the pandemic so much so that she isn't sure they'll be able to train a new class of police officers or firefighters. This year. We're not like the federal government, we have to have a balanced budget. So if we don't get a federal money, no fire class Dayton is recruiting new firefighters and police officers but may not be able to bring them on board without more money. When it comes to the schools. It's a similar story. Congress has approved about $68 billion so far for K 12 schools. Well, not all of the funds have been spent. Education officials say the money is spoken for, and they need more. In Pennsylvania Palisades School District Superintendent Bridget O'Connell says they were able to reopen in the fall. And that meant hiring more teachers to reduce class sizes and to teach online So it is a staff intensive endeavor to educate kids during a pandemic Staff aren't paid up front, which is one reason why it may look like funds or unspent. And the bulk of the money Congress approved for schools last year is just now going out. Superintendent Sean Record from Pema, Arizona on Lee found out last week how much his district can expect to get. I have a list of all you know of things that we need in order to be able to You know, provide better social distancing more safety for teachers, more safety for students. They've been open nearly full time since the fall making do with the money. They have his message to critics who point to unspent funds and say schools don't need more. It isn't a light switch. The money doesn't get approved one day and spent the next And that's why President Biden and Democrats are pushing ahead with new funding and say they can't wait for Republicans in Congress to come around tomorrow. "And there's a great. There's also great hiking trails here too. Which is kinda cool to know. Got my neil young going on today. So how post them. Cool music by young there on my website and my blog and incorporate that into our great energy self care series and in keeping with that. I wanted to keep it real simple here as i do. My walk here in the palisades and appreciate nature and music and all the great creative Essences if you will in the world and there are many so we stay into the solution and by staying with the creativity as there is indeed a lot of destruct destructive people and destruction going on out there and it's all about every day one day at a time going back to the solution to the creative energy and discovering new things and in keeping with that Again here in palisades. I'm inclined to submit for the self care series. It's called the set aside if you wanna call it at prayer or blessing or the set-aside words and the set aside technique and whatever works for you But the essence of it is again to keep it. Real simple is to set aside. This is a great way to mt oneself. If you will of all that ego all that self will run riot and all the things we thought we knew or think we know and not to take away from that because what we know will always be there. I i liken it to how i had gone through a scenario in my life at one point where i had to downsize and let go of certain things such as my actual music collection and books and things like that in and but they never leave. You is where i'm going with. The ones that are stamped in our soul. Remain there and we can always get them again. And so i say that because it's it's akin to if you if you will a mansion a cup you're pouring this cup with water and you just keep pouring it in other words. You're feeling yourself and your mind that twelve pound mass i. My previous podcast was on the brain food and encouraging ourselves to again for south care. Feed our minds feed our brains and be careful a guard the gateway to the mind very important. Ooh i just heard an hour. We'll going ooh see the wisdom wisdom the wise and word to the wise and so two again. Keep it simple. That set aside. Technique is to set aside everything you think you know everything you thought you knew and there is. It's just kind of a cool thing to do to set that. Aside in other words rather than rushing in headlong as a know it all to be open as einstein. Science to this i will say stein said be open for the infant it. Not the finite but infinite possibilities in the world and the way that we get in touch with those infinite possibilities is to let go. That's one of the great paradox is one of the great just positions and so with that said take a deep breath breathe in ego go and again all the tools we incorporate With the self care series and even the very words forgiveness gratitude. They enable one's mind to be clear enough to see and to have that the mindset and to have the wherewithal to let go set things aside so that we can give ourselves this gift of setting this aside so that we can build ourselves up and be open for what life has to offer what the anthony quantum field is giving us what the energy great energy in the world. The great she is giving us and so we'll take a deep breath and doing my great walk just beautiful. It's nice to calm and quiet and listen in nature and to listen to the birds and to to the quiet if you will and there's that sense of again letting ingo envisioning oneself stepping aside getting one's aeko out of the way and one's bombastic You know gangbusting if you will coming on like gangbusters mindset and this is great again for the mental clarity and the physical and the emotional and the spiritual if you will to just let things go set them aside and you can just even say just momentarily and this is again the great thing to do for self care and then you know go to the place of the arch the creative endeavors and thereby worth finding that balance. My previous podcast was on the again feeding our minds as well as our bodies body mind soul and again our selves the gift of emptying our vessel enough to allow that is good and new and pure and even magical if you will in and there are infinite possibilities out there and to this will better able you also to Surround yourself with that protective shield and to guard your mind to guard your body to guard your very spirit away from naysayers negative ones negatively evil and then we go to the arts again and even if that is i was save maybe from within a little smile and keeping in mind to evil cannot stand a smile or laughter so there is a. It's not a silly thing. It's the silliness factor is important because we know how profound it all is. Even i think it's neat. She said to you know not by wrath so we get those emotions out of the way but by after do we slay and it's not the laughter that stems abusive at the expense of others patronizing snickering mocking The genuine language of the heart and soul. Thank goodness that cannot be faked the purity and like the laughter of children in fact. I'll put that on the page as well. The website and the blog. These there's a beautiful youtube Little video of kids laughing. And if you can try to find that if not i'll put that on the website to and something about that clears the channel two clears the mind clears the body the laughter and suddenly you're energized to your filled up and enthused and again so there's no brooding over the past or angst over the future because you're even more grounded in this present moment.

What's Your Miracle?

"Today's episode is a Doozy Greg and I cried to quite a bit, and some of that had to be edited out for time. We chatted for for a while, but this is one of my favorite episodes because we talk about neural. A miracle is defined as a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural scientific laws and is therefore considered to be a work of divine agency. A highly improbable or extraordinary event, development or accomplishment that brings very welcome consequences. Greg story is full of miracles, but that's not unique. You know I think. The miracles of recovery are widely talked about in our community. Don't stop before the miracle happens is a typical a ISM. Hey, that's because it's true. There are miracles in your sober future. To happen when you least expect them, and they're rarely, if ever explainable. Greg spent the last of his drinking and drug use career as across country drug dealer. In his twenty five years of Sobriety Yeah Twenty five years. He's accomplished some crazy successful feats, but most recently he has founded an runs startup recovery in southern California. He's attack speaker and he has a beautiful healthy family. That's a freaking miracle. Friends being able to turn your life from that into this is miraculous, and it's possible for you to even if a miracle just means making it one day without drinking. So go grab some Kleenex Hunker Down Let's talk to Greg Champion. Hi Greg. How are you I'm doing well. Trish good afternoon. Happy Happy Hour to you! Happy Happy Hour! My name is Greg Champion on my sobriety Dayton's eleven seven, nineteen, ninety-four. I can tell you that I was facing five years in prison so. This was a nice kid from a nice city with private school college degree, and my disease took me on the brink of facing five years in prison, so I would consider myself. A low bottom got an. We'll get into that here in just a minute real quick. If you would just tell us just about you right now, you know where you live. How old you are! What you do for a living married kids hobbies anything like that name's Greg Champion of fifty one years old. I live in Pacific Palisades California which is just a suburb of Los Angeles. My minor oreos right now so. Comfortable, well, let's get into your story and here in ten minutes or less. Tell us how long you drank cal long it was a problem and why you decided to stop you know. My story begins at four and a half years old. My father was killed in a drunk on your car crash. and I felt different. A mealy filled different because I was gonNA have a dad I. everybody else had two cars in a garage two incomes their DADS were there soccer coaches at our liberty coaches. And so from four and a half to two nine years old when my mom remarried I definitely feel different. And my alcoholism showed up before you even took a drink. A Trish, I I I, I did three things very very well. I got great grades I was a superb athlete. And I was also bowling and I use violence as my first way to medicate my. My mom remarried when I was nine. She married an old World War Two. Vet, a guy who was there on d day, the great thing about this man was that he taught me at a Thai Thai. Shave my face, open doors or women. Really old school ways I think lost in a generation or two, and I'm grateful to them and most mostly unbreathable that he was seventeen years a sobriety. And is exactly what my mother needed and in many ways exactly what I needed, misstep misstep. but what happened was for me was puberty. Right around twelve or thirteen right his cougars kicking and I was entering my freshman year of high school. I found a solution alcohol, marijuana and cocaine I also wanted to show off in front of the girls, and so between the peer pressure of school, looking at pretty girls, and the availability of drugs and alcohol I was well on my way to find my new solution to my inner pane. Did that for a few years might pattern. High School was that I would drink on Friday. Nights drove on Saturday mornings I would again drink on Saturday nights throat on Sunday mornings in the insanity of that going on for four years straight still not hitting square in the is. when all my friends were. Being talked to about school counselor colleges to go the Trish. They were going to cal and Stanford and Michigan Texas Nice Schools in my career counselors, talking about trade schools eventually ended up at a trade school. Arizona State University. and as many no, let's Party School and my alcoholism. Just blew up from there I began doing ecstasy lots of cocaine. In I got out into the real world. And light, actually the day I graduated I got my first you is. Six months later I got arrested for assault. In a bar. A few months later. I got arrested twice in twenty four hours in Mardi Gras. And here's the sicknesses disease stretches I was. There Bourbon Street my first night and went up to speak Irish combination. This is new rules what? What can I do and he says don't piston the streets and don't fight and streets. and. So Trish I'm GonNa have you guess what two things I got arrested for? Did you see while you were fighting with somebody or I'm not that multitalented. So the happened I and less than eighteen hours later, I was led out got back on the streets. got drunk and high again it could not find a bathroom, so I decided in the streets and got caught one more time and so. I have a nice arrest record there in the lovely speakeasy of Louisiana got to be the most eventful twenty four hours I've ever heard of by the way, but I don't WanNa. Take, I. Don't want to interrupt too much. Go ahead, but no, it's crazy. I was real resentful for a lot of years that hey you guys took away my Mardi Gras. You guys, you guys room. I buzz. You know for years. Even sober years in a one old-timer pulls me aside goes. Let me tell you how. How God works God put you in those paddy wagons to save your ass. Because what would happen if he would've stayed out there, you would have been stabbed. Shot would hooked up with some girl and probably got S. t you don't know what would happen, but both those times. He puts you in a paddy wagon because he did for you. What you do yourself and it hit me right between the eyes young. He was right. He's absolutely right. Then I went back to the San. Diego Start Working and I had some resentments. I was promised to a high paying job at a college. I. Was only making nineteen thousand dollars a year and I was working overnight, said the TV station. I don't know about you, Trish when I would get out of work at three o'clock am. There's certain people that are out at three am right. And those lower companions I found these he's lower companions were were girls. You can't bring home to mom and some drug dealers. and. They asked me if If I had any friends on the east coast I, did and we began shipping large amounts of marijuana out to the east coast. and I was part of that process. Eventually I got arrested. Ancient Trees: Living on the Edge

"I hadn't research so when I started to do a research program I thought I need to find a place in southern Ontario which is far away for Hudson Bay. I had to find that place that had harsh growing conditions so that I could carry on with Mike curiosity about how plants living environments is exclude most other plants and took up and eventually I found that the cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment run basically from northern New York state. All the way through a terrier over to Michigan had not only Lichens mosses and other plans but had these scruffy trees growing on edge of the cliffs. And that's why did you need to the ancient forests of scar. Of course. No one knew that they were ancient time. In fact in one thousand nine hundred eighty eight. When I started the transition for like two trees I phoned. It was indication with the Ministry of Natural Resources asking if they would be interested in sponsoring research all on the ecology of the clips of escarpment and they wrote back and said well they were happy and by wanted to waste my time studying slips because he knew they were there. I have reminded them of that almost decade by decade. Since because Would they were disparaging where those little tiny trees growing the cliffs saying to themselves? Well Hey don't count compared with normal burnt tall forests. A scruffy vegetation on the cliffs didn't count so they could equal sign. Nothing is there and ironically but twenty years later when I was trying to confirm some of the early discoveries planned to do a sabbatical trip to France and I wrote to professor while palliate and asked him if I could come in at the cliffs in France and he said it was almost it was almost He said it was happy to host new but of course all their clips are there and in fact After we did the very cursory survey of the cliffs that he had we found the oldest living plants in France amid came Figaro He became famous because he then started a big research program. Events of living trees that stirred to grow for the Romans had left France shoe and it it freaked him out and everybody else said that he was a retrospectively so happy to have been rob his credit he was happy to say that to their discredit. Ministry of Natural Resources in Ontario. Even though they rode the ancient tree hobby-horse for years they never went. Service it oh by the way. We're sorry there was something there after all. Jeez wouldn't interesting trajectory on something that like you just interested. People wrote off and I grew up in that region looking at the Niagara Escarpment. And you see these trees they are small and I'm lucky that I grew up in a time where this was starting to be realized. And when you finally see the ages on some of these things that me. My jaw hit the floor. It's it's incredible to think of something that old in such a tiny package. Because you know you see three is or something like that in someone's yard and they're huge there but they're you know a couple of decades most but what got you interested in this idea of harshness. I know you said it started with Lichens. But to think about plants in harsh landscapes I mean you see them in asphalt you see them in gravel roads. Plants can handle it. But what made you want to study that you know? I think we probably need to have a shrink as part of the because what I've learned forty years during this is your personality. This is probably infected you right now to your personality guide to research ways that you don't even realizing now maybe this may be historical revisionism. But I think when I was a kid growing up I was the tall skinny guy that was always beaten up from school. Felt like I was the underdog in I always loved the idea of supporting anything in fastened with anything that would win by getting out of the way of the means of the bullets and those were often things cryptic where the things differently so I always tried to do things that other people were doing because then I wouldn't have to bump into that bullies that I didn't play sports. 'cause I was always the last one picked. I mean so does psychological component to working on high stress organisms whether they're plants or animals. Interestingly I fought against those buildings for years after ten years of working I actually got a H- site visit from the natural sciences and Engineering Research Council. They said by the way. We don't like the fact that you're working on rocks come and if you want to. This was a big incentive to move into the trees because they said if you WanNa have continued funding from us you have to work on something more real something more important like trees or higher plants but not Rocks Cup while many Lichen colonies several thousand years old and they said no one cares boy so with that encouragement lappy. We had all these people working in Allergy and we said okay guys. They're the writings on the wall. They don't want us to work on Lichens. What else grows beside them? That might gain some respect and one of the Grad students at whether trees growing on the same rocks. I mean maybe maybe we could just switch from the trees a A year later that we discovered on some of those cliff as trees that the rings were incredibly tight. We we had no plans to studying trees. We were simply looking at the way. Human Disturbance Influence the structure of these base forests. So to what could that. We decided a good thing to calculate was productivity enough to calculate the productivity tree. You have to divide its mass by age. Okay using architectural models. We calculated massive all the trees in climbed area in that massive all the trees in inclined area and then took core samples to find out how old they were Kazan. That would give us an estimate of productivity lifetime. Cry Tippety when we did that. You've got these core samples from the cliff face trees and we couldn't see any rings at all So then sanded them up more carefully. And that's when we realized reason why we couldn't see the richness is that they were too small and at that stage we with either. These trees are putting a tree ring every time it rains it because we were like an experts. Had We know the yet you know much about the biology trees at the time so what? We have a bunch of samples and said the sent them. Ed Cook It. Lamont Doherty in your you know in Palisades. Yeah Yeah just. North of the city in Ed. Cook wrote back and said Yes. Those are ancient trees where to find and I said well I can see Toronto from where they grow the sitting right on the edge of the escarpment facing the biggest city in Ontario. And it looks like some of them have over seven hundred rings in them. Whoa and he said well you got a good one expert instill as dendrochronology in the world. And so he he and I started to collaborate with some other lab partners and we did quite a bit work after that on the dendrochronology the series of the Niger. Escarpment but it was all accident really amazing. We weren't initially curious about ancient trees at all just wanted to see if disturbance influence productivity turned up the did disturbs make it. The trees grow faster because it was competition but that became a side issue once we found For us in a place where no one expected to find one.

"I knew that the house that they live at Heidi was pregnant and Palisades was like owned or paid for by their care. There's definitely some like. Weirdness over there. But no one ever thought that there wasn't no yet. And this isn't crazy. It's just I really hate. When like your Mattie, your brother, you think the best way to do a podcast about him with like your matting rather last to show together. Like you had to move to London because it got so bad. Why did you do show get why would you to show again? And it seems like your only concern is getting too. Seed gunner you want you think you're ever going to see him again. Now that you're on a podcast talking about how much money your guns. Mom spent. Who cares? It's weird and syfy. Prod is weird because she has a podcast with Derek path. No, she's a podcast with wells at whatever. And also weird and we talked about this last week. And then I was thinking about more like this is stupid. She went on a date with Derek path. And then toped about it on her podcast. And they talk about like if they like each other or not and it did if they had a good time. And it was like just go on like fucking date like if you're single that's why that's like experimental like stupid, really weird. It was like she went on a date and then reported back to our podcast. But it was like non anonymous person now on e you have only been on one. That's so much weird pressure on the relationship for the next thing. It seems like they're she's really just queuing up this podcast to take over the world because she keeps doing crazy shit. I'm are talking about it in. I don't know one person over listener, Apopka and will inevitably talking about the hills. But even if this drama Israel. It wouldn't even be shown on the hills. And I read the actual family shit. Doesn't get shown on TV shows. No like, especially on the hills where it is scripted. I can't I still think it's like one of the worst ideas that NTV has ever had do. And I won't even watch it to talk about the best idea. MTV ever had was. Ooh. But what they had a lot book wild. I would say that. But someone died but not from the show Nova. Maybe like you never know if he didn't do the. That was just a great show. And it's really sad that that guy died for a million reasons. But also because it showed and go on the heart and soul the show, and he was like a really cute little little Cutie. They've had some really good shows. Jersey shore Z shore jersey shore now is like whatever. But hey day. There was nothing like an eight ball. How very often go back and watch it, and you'll never be able to recreate reality TV like that every people can try, but it was truly the greatest show truly, and I love are the ones still, oh and also next that was a fucking hilarious show. Just watching clips event. Someone put it in the toaster. And it's like, I believe that show ever existed. It was like the most fucked up show was so mean, yeah. Oh my God. That was a great show because it shows like next that we are where we are in ICU castle. Tone things that don't have any getting you know, what I'm okay migrate total did and final story teaser are spending twenty six hundred dollar year on food and clothes.
