"Think so? Yeah, I'm mad magazine cover. It's the last two of tooth, but I think it's supposed to be. Did he see? Did you see that sitting on your desk? Is that why this is going on? I know you never know. With Professor Laura. You never know. Wonder woman is here. A k a. Kim Shafir. Phone angel. She does the hard job here. I have the easy job. I just talked. She has to pick up the phone. Say hello. Find out what you're talking about. All that stuff. It's days like today. I'm glad this is radio. Why? Because you look like you're going to a wedding or a funeral on I'm still in pandemic. Well, I was I was talking about this off the year. Most of the chat room wanted to know it's a Former sponsor bars. Taylor Stores sent me a nice suit. And so I thought it's the three piece suit. Do I look like Is it that serious Ortio? No, It's really nice. You You could be getting married in that. Couldn't be getting married to that. Yeah, I got married in a tuxedo. Okay, but you know, it's probably will don't do that anymore. We didn't have any guests it or where it was Just me. Lisa, the preacher. And, uh, But then we got the wedding package that included a bartender and a person passing right orders. Which is a little weird to YouTube. Yeah, Christian comes up. So would you Like an order of No thanks, Tilly said. Would you like another? No, thanks. Would you like an order? Eventually, we sent them home and the bartender too. But, yeah, we were cheat. We got a wedding package, but we didn't invite anybody because that we just thought, you know, just be the two of us romantic like show downgraded on the package. They didn't have just e think we did the e think it was called the allotment package, but it still had a cocktail waiter and bartender. That's pretty. It's very strange creature was great, though. Heaven I save his checks and he was so good. I love that Potter. He called himself Padre Potter Potter Potter. Yeah. Don't know if he was a potter or what? But he's a he said. Oh, here where you wear your wedding rings is two hearts in twined. And when you put on your ring, you think you've got the heart of your of your loved one on your ring finger there. That's what it is. I thought. Oh, that's nice. That's romantic. That would be $150 space. It was great. It was a good deal. Sounds good. Who should let's go to Lake Tahoe. Okay, Another destination. OK, Destination, Julian. Thank you, Julie. Thank you. Thank you, Kim. Hello, Julie. Leo Laporte, The tech guy. Hey, Good morning. Good morning. I am calling for my step. Mom. She's 84. She listens regularly. So she asked me if I give you a call. What's your name? Her name is Tony. Hi, Tony. Have changed their I'm not in the same room with her fine. Northern California. She's in Southern. You know what? You're a very good daughter in law. I must say thank you try. Yeah. What can we What can we do for Tony? She is running Windows seven on her computer really doesn't want to have to upgrade because she doesn't want to learn a new system. But she's concerned about security because she does all her banking, you know, on her computer, So is there something that you can recommend she do? How she should deal with it? Windows seven. Aziz, You know, we made a big deal about it. Ah, year ago now, gosh has been a year. January 2020 or 2019. When, uh, what year is this? 2020 get general trying trying when? When Microsoft said, it's it's that what they call its end of life. We're not going to send out fixes anymore. And of course, what That means is, if anything bad any security flaws discovered it won't be fixed. The bad guys will know about it, but you won't be. There's nothing a good to defend yourself. If you're going online with If you're not going online, I'll be fine. If you're going online, you're running a risk. Um okay. I'm gonna say a few things. I'm gonna answer your question up front because you deserve that. If she on Lee goes to her bank, and nowhere else might be okay. Just got to be really careful. Don't use it for email because that stuff coming in over the transom and you know if there's something in the email, and it could be just it could be attached. But it could also be Justin. Email. That's a Web page and has malicious content in it. It could also attacked her so no email. No surfing anywhere else. Just your bank. That's that's the answer. There's no the anti virus is still sort of run, but most of them are phased out. Even your browser now is no longer getting updated. It is kind of the end of the line for Windows seven. Okay, That's part one answering your question. Part two is Windows 10, which is the upgrade and is free by the way. Uh, looks exactly like Windows seven. You could probably sneak in in the middle of the night. Do it. And Tony wouldn't even know I swear to you. I swear to you, I you know, I said, I I understand, Tony. I love Windows seven. It was the best version of windows. It was great, but 10 looks so much like it. I don't think you're gonna see a big difference. So that's one way to keep up today and Microsoft, which Technically, charges for that upgrade about 100 bucks. They didn't ever turn off the feature that lets you just go on upgraded. So she could just for free going upgraded. Now that's a little complicated. She's probably not gonna want to go through all the steps, but you could do that. The thing I would really say and I'm from believer. I think windows for most people windows is designed for a company that has an I T Department. It's designed for Somebody who has support whose people come over and fix it. Keep it secure. Do all that stuff. It's a zoo. Really. A business operating system is widely used at home because that's what people use the work and they go. I'm gonna use it at home. But honestly, it's way over complicated. For the simple things Tony's probably doing unless Tony's designing rocket ships. Or maybe she's a photographer doing photo editing. Most of things she does Web based banking email that kind of thing. And for that, and inexpensive chromebook would be a great choice. It's automatically up to date. It doesn't get malware. She'll feel very comfortable with because it's basically the chrome browser and nothing else. So the user interface is very simple. It's a browser, but for most people Unless you have a compelling reason. Maybe she's a gamer. I don't know. Ah, compelling, using reason to use Windows. Would say, say, use an iPad or chromebook. They're much more secure, much simpler to use. And I'm not saying that to be ages. I'm saying that for everybody. It's really a much better way to go so she can. If she's really careful. Use Windows seven. Don't go anywhere. Don't use any email. Just go to your bank. But even then it's.

"By the way, the Padres have just Traded for Mike Levinger of the Indians. He was one of the two players who Zach Police Act. They went out on the town in Chicago, and they tested positive and then kind of fell out of favor with Terry Francona and the Cleveland Indians. So the Padres get a good picture. Think Levinger Padres. Aaron it This is 60 games Sprint. All you got to do is get in the postseason with 16 teams so Padres or making all the moves, you know, getting some bullpen help here. I hope that there are other teams in the league who aren't going. Yeah, but it's the Padres Potter's a good better watch him and once you get into the postseason We know surprise, surprise. Anything could have him. McLovin update the poll results and I'll get to a Kyle goon who's covering the Lakers and the other teams down there in the bubble, most likely second round upset 60% say the heat over the box and then the next closest one is if the Rockets get advanced that they would be the Lakers. Right. Kyle Goon joins US Southern California newsgroup covering the Lakers in an MBA writer. Kyle. Thanks for joining us is everything good with the Lakers now after polishing off the Blazers. That's that's a complicated question, Dan. I would say the tone of Saturday was a lot was ah, a lot happier and healthier than Pops. It was earlier in the week. Obviously Wednesday night, there was a thought that perhaps the Lakers would would be one of the foundational teams and actually sitting out the rest of the games of the season. But You know, on Saturday night clothes that the Blazers took him a couple extra days that they took care of business. Now they have a couple of days off families They're supposed to. Some families are supposed to arrive today, and that's a really big moment that a lot of players on a veteran team have been looking forward to. So I would say they're doing a lot better. But obviously there's been a lot of shaking up in the last week while I'm looking at the latest column from you and granted, you don't write the headline. But it says after trying week and a Lakers Siri's win LeBron James pulls back from the brink. Yeah, well, I mean, you you have to really understand that you know, LeBron tried to tell us the other day that he was not upset. I think that Iwas thinking that he was frustrated. On Wednesday night when he realized that you know, Milwaukee had staged a protest that they kind of thought was gonna be one game one forfeit. Ah, very sort of organic moment. Not really. Communicating with the rest of the league. But obviously, you know, there's a lot of tension among you know athletes for sure who are some of the most prominent and resourceful people of color in the whole country. And it struck a nerve. I think that The Bucks did not realize that it would. And then, once players were meeting later that night, when LeBron who definitely understands the power and ramifications of move like that. Got got to that meeting. He realized there was nothing that that Milwaukee was paired asked for to resume play, they just thought, Hey, we're goingto. We're going to go out for Game six and try to win our Siri's then. I think that was the frustration. I don't know how close he was to to actually walking out. I don't think he had his bags packed or anything, but I think there was a lot of thought given to the fact that You know if we are asking for something? What are we doing here? We have more concerns about the Lakers on the floor off the floor. Of me, I think off for sure Andan. Other thing, LeBron said that night and and partly in jest, but partly not is that he's given them thought, leaving the bubble everyday on DH. You know, it's such a weird situation here, Dan because You know, I understand what he means. I mean, there's just not another. There's just not a lot of outlets. There's not a lot of changing routine. You have isolation from the people you love. And I think There's something really profound about. Just the When something happens in the outside world like Jacob Blake shooting, and obviously a lot of players care just they're really makes the feeling of helplessness and frustration more pronounced. And I honestly think that the bubble has a lot to do with the buck's decision to forfeit that game. Got a long way to go, Though. The bucks doing the Lakers these air, you know, the two favorites here. Yeah. Yeah, And we've already done you know, 50 some days and we got 47 days ago. I'm I'm also here the entire way. So it's definitely it can feel like a long look up to the top of the mountain. I think s O. I think For some guys, I mean, obviously, George Hill said, Even before that, we shouldn't even come to this place. I'm being polite language for your listeners, but Guys were feeling it. Andi, I think that's um inextricable. From what actually happened That guys were feeling frustrated guys were feeling like, you know, we're putting these messengers out there. We have these messages on the back of our jerseys. We have the messages on the court and What is that? Really making a difference? Is it really being heard? Is there more we could do if we were outside and you know, I think that's something that you really feel here. As long as we've been here when you're in isolation. Watching the Clippers against the Mavs. I You know, everybody was in on Portland, upsetting the Lakers and I said, You know, Dallas has a better chance of upsetting the Clippers. And if the Clippers if If it had been reversed, and the Lakers played the Mavs. Then everybody would have said all the Mavs can upset the Lakers. Because everybody you get clicks. When you talk about the Lakers. Nobody was thinking. Hey, let me write about the Clippers, maybe getting upset. I thought that they were perilously close to being down three games to one, and I mean, eventually we see the real CO I Leonard stepping up. I just don't know if Who is going to be the guy you count on to step up with Kawai, because as great as he is one guy's not winning this title with that team, So Yeah, have you Like you look at the Clippers and the Lakers, who would be your favorite between those two playing for a championship. That is a really good question. And you know this entire playoffs has been. I mean, I think the mental edge is such an X factor because I think the thing happening with the Lakers in the Blazer Siri's is one thing that really did happen for them is Anthony Davis needed to believe. You know what, Like, I don't really have a matchup on this team, and I think that's going to be a constant battle for the Lakers in the same way. Obviously, Paul George between the two quote co stars is Is having a rougher time and has admitted to having a rough time and and I don't want to diminish from that because it is very relatable, to be honest when you when he said. Those things, it's very relatable as somebody who's been living here. About the same amount of time, but you felt things come I mean, I mean, not checking out because we remain busy, but just a desire to like, Just change something about your circumstances. Same room, same small area. You go around when I run I run in a circle around the Coronado Springs Resort. So I think there's a sort of The days can kind of blend together, and I mean you guys have said this, So it's just this X factor that you know it's really hard to anticipate. And I think Paul George struggle with that. I think one reason Kawai Has not..

"Remember? I just bet I just bet you win the game just to win the game. The money line. I just took the money line bet on them. And so when I came back from a motorcycle ride, I tuned in and they're already getting blown out. And I watch for a while, and that's exactly what I thought. Just the lack of energy. A lack of effort. Very disappointing. Yep. They're almost like they were in. They were running a practice or something. Not even good practice didn't show up. What happened in the heat did And how about the Rockies there their first game here at home to the only two bets I lost all weekend with Iraqis and Nuggets. You should have won the Rockies. You weren't going to win the Nuggets based on how they played. With Rocky's Yeah, the well. Wade Davis thinks so. Let's hope they have a closer still thinks roster day, and they come back and win the next two games against the Padres. Potter's really have a dynamic young lineup mean good hitting lineup of the Rockies. I mean, sort of Iraqis. Charlie Blackmon's off to a great start. Nolan really hasn't started hitting yet, but they mean that lineup is difficult. I'm so encouraged by just the kind of pitching That they have gotten early in this crazy season from the starters. I mean, I'm really encouraged with what's going on, so it's going to be fun to watch them. The we have CNN on We have three TVs in the studio. CNN is currently running a crawl. Actually, it's basically a story. Three Indiana schools deal with cases of covert 19 as their re opened, and then they listed the three schools once in high school once in middle school ones in grade school. Single Students just once and I don't mean they're not married. These air single student's so my suggestion to CNN just a suggestion from me. Is that if they're going to do that, For every school that opens in terms of single Cove in 19 cases. Good luck to you. Because you're gonna have those. I think it's fairly clear and it and it speaks to the point. I think in terms of because I'm asked all the time whether or not we're gonna have a high school football this fall. And chassis and the commissioner. Rounder run to blend for green. Has issued several statements that they're prepared to move forward. To have fall sports and now it basically comes down. I think to what the government with the what? In this case what Governor Pulis's office comes up with, but If if the intent is to start With sports. And the protocol for a student. A student testing positive. Is going to be shutting down the school or shutting down in this case. You know my interests would be in the football program, then. My suggestion is move everything to the spring. Because you have no chance yet zero chance. Of operating under those guidelines. If if that's How they're going to do business because quite clearly You're gonna have some students that test positive. It's impossible to think that that will not be the case. But instead of quarantining those individual students And trying to carry on If, in fact you're going toe. I mean, and the superintendent of Cherry Creek School, Scott Siegfried has said basically the same thing. If we have positive test, you know, the word he used was unilaterally. He can shut down sports and shut down the school. It makes to me no sense, no sense to think you're going to be able to get through the fall season, whether in school or in sports, or whatever. Um, with any degree of certainty. In fact, I think it is not only highly unlikely. I think it's virtually impossible. Not shut him down. What if he had a positive test in a class? Why wouldn't you just let that whole class? Go get a test, you know, like, And if you if you get a test, you can come back, right? Yeah. I mean, I can't. I can't answer that question. I'm I'm just going on What has been put out there? You'd have to, you know, then with contact tracing, which still seems to be The way that a lot of people think we should handle this. You'd have to trace where those students have been. So if you have one. In other words, if you have, let's say you have one football player. The test positive. You then would have too with contact trace, and I think that's the right term. Yeah, you you well, he's been around your entire football team has been around his class. He's been around his class where of those where those students been? So you you, khun mean? You sort of pieced together the trickle down effect. You could eliminate that without having to quarantine all those people by giving them a test. And now there's a lot of free tests around. You don't have to pay for it. But you have a lot so you can come back sooner, right? I mean, it just seems ridiculous to have Quarantine everybody. If you take a test, you can come back if you you know, if your test take long, you have to wait till you get your test back depending on which tests you take. Yeah. I mean, I think if they adopt that that policy that I think maybe you have a chance, But I've seen no indication that that's That they're interested in adopting that kind of policy. Anyway, I think I think that there will be a decision made this week with respect to what Governor Pulis. And his his folks think will be the right way to deal with the opening of school and the start of fall sports and then I think it's going to be up to the individual school district's superintendents. Of that school district to decide in terms of how they govern, But But the reality of it is this If you if you don't have Um, symmetry. With respect to all the school district's Right? I mean, you've got DPS and Aurora public schools have already decided they're going to be virtual learning. Ah, Aurora. I think for the first couple of weeks DPS I think through October yeah, through their whole first quarter, they said so. I mean to me, you need almost a governing body that says this is the way we're going to do this, but it has to include all of the school district's and I've seen no indication that they really want to do that. So you could have Let's say the Cherry Creek School district and there Superintendent makes the decision that Hey, if we get two or three positive test, I'm very likely to mandate virtual learning, and we will shut down everything else, including sports. Well, that might not be The same policy that they invoke in Aurora or DPS, or up in the Porter Valley School District or down in Douglas County, which you know doesn't It just doesn't make a lot of sense in terms of sports, because then you have people that are playing and people that can't play. So my thing is this I'm most interested in kids. Getting back to school safely as possible, because I really think that is Extremely important and them being given the opportunity, especially seniors to play in whatever their their sport is..
