Reformed Criminal Matthew Charles on Mental Illness in the Prison System

"The reality of having people incarcerated with mental illnesses and I'm not talking about the criminal psychotic mindset. But mental illnesses that keep them from functioning normally if you would. How often did you see that in the prison systems that you were part of? I will say in the princess, I would say probably, I want to say percent are greater than 50% of the time. Because a lot of people are there because mentally, they do have something going on internally. Now what that is, I can't put a thing around. I know, you know, just like whenever we go volunteer at the halfway, I have my high school. Go volunteer at the pantry and do things in the neighborhood. We encounter people that are at our homeless and they have a medical condition that causes them to be a paddock or homeless and they can't overcome that without the right help or treatment. But they have become that because I have spoke with a lot of them trying to find out, you know, how did this happen? And sometimes it could be the fact that, you know, their wife left them on their wife died, you know what I mean? Right. And they just couldn't have it. Sometimes it just made the fact that, you know, they explore. You know, with these drugs and the drugs doing what they normally do over tip them. You know what I mean? So therefore now addicted. So people become mentally ill for a variety of reasons. That's the reason that I say even though I will say anywhere from 50 to 60% of the people, you know, total number of people that were incarcerated with me, but now I need to go the opposite way. I would say 40 to 50% of the people I won't go into. Yes, I would say what are the 50% of the people I will say internally, I think they have something going on because you see a lot of people being quiet or speaking to those sales or these distributing behavior that you know is not right for normal people. And then you also have some of them that are the same way that you really can't distinguish whether they have that are not, but they just be in that way because they'd rather be a loner so that they don't be preyed on the people lead them alone or think that they could be a violent threat if they will

"The equipment isn't exactly right or there's something there's something amiss maybe an oversight with the horse's preparation. How often does something like that occur? That happens quite often, okay? And again, I'm glad you keep on the one word. It's an oversight. It's nothing something that's intentionally being done. It's just a simple human error. And mostly, that would be whether or not a horse bears blinkers, okay? It's just a matter of a confusion where they thought they had blinkers and they put legs on a horse. I didn't know this was not where and we just come off or which is no big deal or vice versa where they forgot the blinkers or they don't fit properly or they got damaged somehow. We have them in off there. I think that they can wear. It happens often enough. But like I said, it's usually just an oversight and honest error. It's very easily and instantly corrected, okay? When the water is due to leave the paddock to go out on a racetrack they have with us supposed to have. Visiting with longtime nairo paddock judge Peter Fitzgerald here on this edition of unsung heroes presented by claiborne, Peter has been on the job now for 40 years. Not all of them is the pad judge certainly. I guess it's been about what two decades is the paddock judge and before that we're doing some other duties. Walk me back through Peter. Where did this journey start for you? Where did it start? Well, the story I always tell is people always ask me was back in 1973. They had the source code secretariat was unsure everyone heard of. That's the worst that got me interested in this game. I watched him run the Triple Crown. I was working in a liquor store in Freeport Long Island. And I wanted to watch them on the bell much like I bought a little TV into the C store and watch them when the Belmont stakes and that got me hooked the next year I was working on the racetrack I was working in was security. Things in maturity I got a job doing that. And after a couple of years doing that, doctor Manny Gilman, who was the chief examining that Marion at the time, asked me if I wanted to join in his department to work in horse ID that did as a clerk and I moved my way learning that part of the business and eventually became the horse identifier. After that, I went into the race and office was doing other different things, kind of like what they call the utility official where you kind of went where you were needed. I would be working in the paddock with the paddock judge at the time or I'd be a placing judge up into place and stand or working in the jocks room with a clerk of scales, just rotating around learning different things. And finally, moving on to become the paddock judge. And then about 1995, I went to Delaware for 11 years where I was the church there. And in 2006, I came back to New York and resumed those studies here. It's hard to get away from the Big Apple, right? It just kind of brings you back in. Yeah, yeah, it's my home. I was glad to be able to come back. Yeah. Do you have a couple of funny stories that you like to tell about things that have happened over the years with horses or connections that come into the paddock, maybe some bizarre occurrences that have taken place? Okay, I continue one that comes to mind right now. It happened to Delaware where I was in when I was paddock judge. It was a horse. I won't mention any names that doesn't really matter. But there was a horse who was the most honorary son of a bitch. Tough getting settled. And when we put the riders up to go, I want to get the riders up cool to go. It was like the 7 horse. It was like a 7 horse field. I don't know the exact number, but it was the outside horse. It was the last one, it was a number 7 or number 8 or whatever it was. And he just flat over to his right arm and everything tag a horse just flat out refused. I mean, he pulled under with the pony, but that's going to this horse just will not buzz right around right off would not budge. And one of the outriders finally got him to go and I think this was got to do something about this for us. I'm going to have to put him on my list to get him properly schooled. And they're like, we get them out on the racetrack. He would not load into the gate, just again. Flat out refuse. All the time, he would not load. He dropped the rider and took off and then walked into the gate all by himself. And I said, I can't believe this, you know? That was maybe the starter's going to put him on the side of this. I was going great. We'll never see this again. Walk into the game. Put the rider up and off day one. He didn't run all that well. But I need to kind of upgrade. It was a funniest thing. I guess would be the funny story. Yeah, incredible. Yeah. The one that sticks in mind had the most, and I'll carry this one to my grave. It was a young rider woman rider at Belmont..

"But it just made for a good race, a good spectacle. You know, you could, from most places, you could see most of the corners, you know, so I suspect that had someone to do with it. And I just think it's certainly brands, especially brands before Graham hill was changed in the late 90s. It had an amazing flow to it. And I think that yeah and that added something to the festival. I'm not sure I'm going to have people from attleboro complaining about this. The brands is a better venue or was a better venue for the festival. But I do think that is a case. Would you agree? Would you agree Marcus? I'd say tighter in brands, brands, club circuit, as it was then called. It's just tailor made for formula Ford, isn't it? And the amphitheater setting of it means you can from wherever you are, you can probably see about 95% of the circuit. The laps are 49 50 seconds. Just. You would get during the heyday you would get the grandstands at the top of paddock absolutely packed. You'd go with the banks at paddock absolutely packed and all the racing. And this wouldn't have happened if it had been at snetterton, but for all the racing took place to the soundtrack of Brian Jones booming baritone voice on commentary. What a fantastic voice he had. What a fantastic man. Brian, who sadly died over the Christmas new year period last year was just a massive fan of formula Ford. And really, I think Gary that formula Ford festival Brian Jones in Kent again pretty much going the same sentence, don't they? That's right. And just on a historical note, there is a significance to 1976 because that was the year that the brand's indie circuit was slightly remodeled that the paddock, you know, between the Brabham strait and what is now cooperate, the pallet was extended. So the back of the indie circuit, so from Graham hill to 30s, was pushed back. So if you look at a map of the old in this circuit, it's a different shape. And at the same time, paddock was slightly remodeled to give a bit of a bit of runoff. So I guess, I guess that was probably part of the decision. And of course, Marcus mentioned the kentuckian, the bar restaurant call it what you will. Hub of brands hatch was actually opened in 1976. So perhaps I'm sure that actually played played a part in the decision to move it from SNP to brands. And if we were doing this podcast, a couple of years ago, we would have asked Brian that a question I'm sure if we were doing this if Brian was still alive,.

"Morning. Paul is sponsored by Chevrolet Racing and the Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear once again, here's Paul W. Smith. Well, that's good to hear in that opening as a reminder that we are so thankful to Jim Campbell and Chevy Racing. And we are so thankful to in fact, the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear because they're also making it possible for us to be here, which means that Bud Denker The chairman of this great race and the president of Penske Corporation, executive vice president of Team Penske made it possible he happens to be sitting right across from me right now. I first have to say, but because I know that racing is your thing, and you do it so well around the world. But you throw it Pretty dog gone. Good party two and last night's grand premier was fabulous. It was a amazing event last night so many people were there. 300 plus And what was Really evident to me was how much people enjoyed being out again. Um, hugs, handshakes being together, Um, the camaraderie and these are CEO level type people that were there with their their their spouses or their partners. And they were there to have an amazing evening and we had a great M. C. Which was Paul W. Smith. It was great to see Kim last night. I mean, we raise a lot of money for a very worthwhile charity, which was the most important thing we were. I know that the actual final figures art in because you You do what I do with my golf tournament. Thank you again for Penske being one of our sponsors. We give the net number because that's really the only way to know how much you've you've earned. And so you still have some bills to pay off and all of that, But it's hundreds of thousands of dollars raised. Now for the bill, I'll Conservancy and Michelle Hodges did not even have to jump into a fountain. So that was I thought that was my kind of personal goal was to try to keep her out of the mountain last night, and it worked that way. India in Mike Mantra who really works right here to keep this The the bones of this race going and all that sort of heavy lifting that goes on. But I I understand that you also had for the party last night special help from Eric Larsen, so he deserves some kudos. For being able to throw up attempt. Under the worst of circumstances and in the least amount of time ever for attempt that size. No doubt we were looking at a place for the goalpost kept changing here the last month, right in terms of the rules guidelines, but That would have to send me an email. Okay? We're not going to be here now. Now we're going to be over here. So I was waiting on the on the drive in last night. It was. I hope we're still there We were. It was a great has a great location. See all your team here again face to face and things we haven't done in so long, right? All right. And so those things are happening now. It's so good to see the media out. Here are safety workers are out here. The smiles That's what it's all about. Miss Smile USA. Kim to Giulio is down at the other end here and and we saw her. We were taking pictures by one of the race cars, Link was and and she just has that infectious smile. If he does, I wish I could smile that often and like that all the time smiles means so much it does. They are sometimes maybe underappreciated, but a smile. Can really make things happen in a in a variety of ways, and what we saw last night were full faces, and therefore, for the first time in a year and a half full smiles, no doubt and it struck me and how much I've missed smiles. I agree with you and here this weekend here ironically, Michigan it's been a tough state. Obviously restrictive wise, we're going to be the first Race weekend for Indy car and for the IMSA Racing series to have no mask. No social distancing. Eastern Australia Is Facing Worst Floods In Decades

"Less than two years. After bushfires blazed across australia the countries east coast is seeing its worst flooding in decades. Some areas accumulated over yard of rainfall since downpours started last thursday. Tens of thousands have been ordered to evacuate on sunday alone. Five hundred giga leaders of water. The same volume of water and sydney harbour spilled out of sydney's largest dam even as rain subsides. The floodwater will still post trouble for weeks to come joined now by laura chung who has been reporting on all of this for the sydney morning herald. Welcome thank you for having me. Thank you for being with us. So what are you hearing from people on the ground there. Can you talk about the scope of the damage that they've seen so far of course say unlike the bush fires. We don't actually have a clear image of how much has just been damaged or destroyed. We know it's significant part of the state but what we do know is there has been water. Everywhere we've heard and seen houses just picked up floating down rivers that used to be farms and paddocks we've heard of livestock just being completely washed away their videos and of cows and horses just trying to make it through these really heavy floodwaters and what used to be straits and headaches just now yet completely flooded with water right up to where the pow lines off so if you can imagine that it is very striking image. What about people who didn't weren't able to evacuate and are now stranded. I mean how are rescue operations going right now for a lot of people who live in these low lying plains. Floods aunt anything new to them. They've lived with them before they know how to prepare for them. But there are a lot of people who would just not quite ready for how quickly the water would come up So we've got thousands of volunteers from the state. Being a one-man-band in business

"It so if folks want to check out what you're working on. Its use slingshot dot com and your h one is your easiest swag campaign. ever quality branded swag accustomed. merchandise store for employees fans and worldwide fulfillment. And where you stand now. You're the only employee you're single founder. And you do. Have you told me many contractors. Who are doing design or development or fulfillment or just filling in gaps can't handle on a day-to-day basis as founder. Do you wanna give folks an idea of where the business stands whether you are willing to to share revenue just some type of size to give an idea of the stage you launched it. It is december of two thousand twenty and you launched january. So it's about a year old. But i'm guessing you had worked on it for quite a bit before. Then go on that at all. Basically twenty nineteen when i launch it actually. The january first is almost two years. Got yeah totally different model. That was working pretty well. We had about ten clients on that model was month the month. It was neat. Swag story giveaway points and you can kind of transfer those points in to like. Hey he did something. Great there was a kpi or a birthday or start date. I'm really fun. But we knew it was one of the things that wasn't a requirement at a company. They'll still trying to build that really fine. Product market fit for the necessity. And it's hard to do and kobe and march and so when that hit this year every single person quit except for one. We're still trying to build up that market and find out what that was. And since then i've met with a really smart people since then that helped me kind of guide my way to the troop paddock market. That we now have an awesome platform that had of now. We're gonna hit around two hundred thousand by the end of this year and revenue. I saw him the only employee. And i'm wearing billion hatchets. My wife knows and other than that. I am able to really export and pay premium. People don't actually physically. No but i paid for you know fulfillment and some warehouse and now i pay people for marketing and down the building new product releases but allowed me to really focus on sales client relationships etc. So we're doing really well. It's a totally different changements. Still in the same vein that we are giving away grape swag to people deserve it and that's the thing is is your background is in design and you x and if folks want to check you out dribble you've john howard is your username and you actually started an agency called black airplane which is at black airplane dot com that you exited about four or five years ago and he sold it to someone who could who could level it up but i mean the logos on the homepage of that are coca cola. Mcdonald's home depot the weather channel. So i mean those were. I'm assuming clients many clients that you closed right so are you. Are you the double threat of an amazing designer and also an enterprise sales person. That'd be a little braggadocious for me. But i appreciate i think really look at things more for user experience side. And that's what he has given me. An ability always wanted to start a business. I think that was my first love. I lost my job at an agency. That i worked at and kind of forced me into. Hey why not start an agency love business and you love doing design work. That was the kind of love story there. And because of that. I put all of my effort into making that happen. That was black airplane. I did not do any development. There was just a dying we ended up working with some really amazing clydes that you mentioned some of those cola being one of the most recognizable here in atlanta. And because of that. I kind of handed that off at one point that i really wanted to go build a product company especially working with products all the time and people who are doing products and keeps you energized. And i handed off people much more formidable to me to building an agency building that up and they're just doing a tremendous job now and they made it now the full gamut of design and development. So it's really grown. it's blown up. I think eighteen people now. And when i left it was two people and we had eight contractors so big change for you. That's that's cool to know when to hand something off and you know when to let it kind of take wings and give it to someone who perhaps can can take it to that next level if it's not something you want to do. I'm curious then. So you were running this agency. The description on the home pages were a digital product design and development firm in woodstock georgia and we're on a mission to make sure no digital experience gets left behind. You obviously have the chops weather. Your own design skills or through the network of contractors or employees that you worked with to build full on digital products web and mobile whatever. Why start something. A physical component basically a swag not a swag shop. It's it's a. You started a product that allows other brands to launch their own swag campaigns or swag shops versus just going building a suffer product. A sass or whatever because you obviously have the skill and the experience to do that. Yeah and i. I've done that before If i could show my rap sheet of how many things have failed might give you a long list done a lot that they they made minor successes here and there. But i've learned a lot along the way. I'm really fascinated with physical and kind of marrying digital world to a physical product. And i think i've really been obsessed with that for a long time and we'll be excited about it was at Black airplane we didn't slap and i don't know how the slagle it's now there but it's always been great. Slept our websites and name to we're about on people swag. We just gave them really great swag every single time. People would brag on that we had. I used to joke that people would wear the black airplane swag out to the park or on a date they would rip the sleeves off and there and cut grass with it. You know. it wasn't one of those types of shirts that you hated or hats or whatever really nice stuff and i saw. The people got really excited about that and there was a neat. And i'm really obsessed with your experience i wanted to build. This product platform had married that experience of getting something from an employee your colleague or boss and in receiving that in your hand and physically seeing that side of things as well so i got

I have a staff about thirty people and one of the things i do in. That job is a fair. Bit of public outreach. In the way of giving tours of the herbarium over the years to writing people local students to the general public houses. Our collection isn't like a museum in that it's open to the public. The this all behind the scenes so we let the public in occasionally but really just for a few days at a time and also then for people who might wanna help right about or support our herbarium. So it's through really through the the the tours that i'd given over the years that i began to really think about the herbarium and how to talk about it in a way that would interest people because on his face. It's a collection of dead plants and it doesn't sound very exciting however i've been really heartened that Especially in recent years. Maybe with a heightened understanding or appreciation of the environment of worry about climate change that. There's been a lot of people have been a lot more interested in this aspect of science. It's not the glamorous part it's where we store the research results you know that others have published upon and we have to store them forever. it's never ending. They absolutely have to be maintained. Forever and It's it's hard to do that. It's hard to keep the funding to keep the staff. It's hard to keep the collection up when you have so many but it's it's an absolutely crucial aspect of the scientific process. This is where the the the documentation of the plant. Biodiversity research is located in terms of my background. I sort of grew up in a herbarium. My father was actually a psychologist studied. Fungi and started their barium at san francisco state university and all my childhood weekends were spent either collecting mushrooms or it was the season than Often to get me out from under foot from my under my mother's feet my father had become to the herbarium on a sunday afternoon and help him do things. Like lou label. Simple jobs it. I got more complicated. And he gave me a little bit of money for it. So i was. I was happy to do it. And i did that for years. I enjoyed in good. I became a teenager and i was so interesting. And i i didn't I didn't want anything to do with our barium or my parents or anything but Somewhere my college years. I actually found my way back. I just seem to me that my father and his colleagues his students all just could hardly wait to get up and go to work and make new discoveries every day. They were so passionate about what they did. And i hadn't really come across any other community where people have that kind of passion and i wanted to be part of it so The focus of san francisco. State was on fungi. Although there were people working on lichens and other groups but one group nobody was working on. Were the liver words. The had paddock's thought they were too hard and apply they're not a terribly rich flora in california so they weren't always even very easy to find but they intrigued me so i began to kind of teach myself What could i made a lot of bad identification. But i graduate but i grew to really love these little organisms. They're they're tiny. They're beautiful all sorts of falls structures to their leaves and so forth. And you just feel like when you look at the the microscope you just kind of entering a miniature world Which is just full of beauty. And then i went on to grad school. I was able to convince someone to let me study with them. rather famous man rudolf schuster who wrote the mammoths treatment of the bryant of the hypocrisy north america. He was actually a horrible mentor. But that's okay. I still got my degree. And i was lucky enough to get a post doctoral position at the new york botanical garden. Right out of grad school. Once i was there i knew i never really wanted to leave. So that's that's kind of story mike.

Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed Until December

"Go, Breaking News Sarah Pump Twenty seventy seven has been delayed a little less than a month. They. tweeted this out just now. Hey everyone. Today, we've decided to release to release the cyberpunk seven by twenty one days the state December tenth. Most likely there are many emotions and question your heads. So first and foremost, please accept our humble apologies the biggest challenge for us right now, shipping of the game on current Gen Nexgen PC at the same time requires US prepare and test nine versions of it xbox one x compatibility series S X. ps four pro compatibility on ps five pc stadia working from home. Since Era Punk has twenty seventy seven has evolved towards almost being a next gen title somewhere along way, we need to make sure everything works well and every virgin run smoothly where we're aware it might be unrealistic. When someone says it twenty one days can make a difference sister massive and complex game, but they really do so have you might also be wanted what these words mean us say we achieve our goal Massar. Sometime ago paddock certification are going Goldman to gave his ready can be completed and has all the content in it. It doesn't mean we stop working on a raise. The quality are in raising the quality bar on the contrary. This is the time where many improvements are being made, which will then be distributed via day zero patch. This is the time period we under calculated. We feel that we have amazing game our hands and are willing to make every decision even the hardest ones for automatically. Leads to you getting a video game, you'll fall in love with some Adam Barsky and markets Wenski CD, project read. So yeah. Twenty one days. What do you think Fran bombed? This doesn't surprise me in the least and like I mean honestly I really don't think it's a big deal. I know a ton of people are growing as I say that like what like this is like how many delays like how it's like for some people? This is probably feeling unacceptable because they're so excited about the next Gen consoles it came right at a time. You can pick those up orgies period. You're kind of like we've been waiting for a really big game dropped for a while a lot of people right and so people were stoked but. This company is famous for being perfectionist you know, and that's what I hear when I read this, they're staring down the barrel of the new Gen consoles in particular, and probably which we always I feel like there's gay games, the optimizations, and this has been such labor of love and they're just like. Guys we have to smooth out some frame rate. We've gotta get these next Gen consoles closer to being more than just like a frame rate improvement versus because that's what you're dealing with to. Right. It's a PS four, xbox one version kinda slightly amped up and it sounds to me like they want to try a few more things. I think that's great. Especially, if you plan to play in those consoles, these twenty one days are going to make a huge difference view versus were going to talk about it later got a war as is going to work on PS five. Do you want cyberpunk like that where it's ps four game that works? A little better or do you want optimization? Yeah, I well, how do you feel? Personally I. It doesn't superman like we're we're both used to playing games or incomplete like that's just the reality of it so. I don't think this matter so much to me I am relieved that like Oh thank God that November like. Push because that is literally there's like. Five Games that we are we are going to talk about that we add. Is What he did. Selfish on that front there is I mean I'm going to be a half to I'm going to be playing destiny on November tenth. Somebody. Tim was asking me about cyberpunk and all that and I was like. Dude I'M GONNA. Check out but. What am I supposed to do? It would be like grinding for a rate so selfishly and like, yeah, let's go. Give me give me a month to catch up on a lot of stuff.

Jockey John Velazquez on his third Kentucky Derby win in his first competition with Authentic

"We have John Velazquez the hall of Fame Three Time Kentucky Derby winner on the phone now Johnny. Thanks for some time this morning the industry star of the week at the by Stuart Morris Congratulations. Thank you. Thank you for having me. Yeah. Three and ten years I think that's something that's getting overlooked here. animal kingdom always dreaming. authentic. Things did not go as planned when that gate opened on Saturday? Well I tell you. I was expecting that the we're GONNA break a little slow and I? Even said it. Before they raised a couple of his did I did you know? I get in like the position that we had just because being last one indicate normally once you get into gate. kind of like to get a sausage facets of canned really wants to live circuits. So horse is not. Hundred percent spending properly, and You Know Eight, hundred, ten, th there for jumping number good and even. He's not very quick from the gate. So with watching he's prior races and being the last one and go into the I I was back to not. On the other hand I knew he was going to be quick. you know to to get too close to the lead or BMW before we get, we get to the to the turn. So you know I didn't wear so much and I think even if you the way broke, I kinda wane gradually you know going into the lead before we get to the first time. Were you surprised that no one took advantage of the lackluster break and that you were able to clear by the time you've got that I I. Well I. If we look back at the race really there was only one. One speed horse in and teeth the law and I knew he was not wanna go to delete or you know that's not the way they they actually wanted them to you know and listened to Berkeley and and and prior to that you know the just like to suck somebody and so on. And other words Park elope is I thought he probably go to the lead and and I was willing to let him go if you wanted to do obviously when we pass it pass the wire for the first time in and see him and he wasn't going to delete it. So that was my turn you know to. Okay. Let me go ahead and do what Mars you want to do. You always talk to us here on the network about playing you leave the paddock with plans a to Z with a horse like authentic. There's really not much and you know you know he's GonNa break a little slow at least you did he's not going to break that sharp. You're going to be on the lead I'm sure after you watch the Haskell. You. Likely. Did you have some concerns about the mile and a quarter after watching the Haskell? We always have it. You know and and. Talking to by he, he's just like you know what I think I haven't much ready this time know for going on quarter. We always had a question whether he can't go out on any tips like, but you you you bob. You have to carry the source now he goes to putting the pressure. And he says that when you get to the stretch I, want you to to get you let handed ready for this. Okay. Make sure you get you get his attention and I mean to territory worked out. Perfect. You know talking about we planning with we were just rubies. Have dinner like three, nine, five bike and we keep talking about it. Then it's like you'll make sure you haven't left hand to you know get attention and if you look back from the house cold to the Derby, Mike, Never hit him though Mike he just GonNa kick. Showing the weapon and kind of top him this time you know I got the. Price Him and he responded right away i. that was the difference dry. They're actually afterwards Bob said to me if he makes had hidden his left handed in this house. You would never be on him on the Derby because I don't think he would have got off of them. You know what I mean, and that's why they thought. It was that he might not want to go the distance and. He's a little quirky so he kinda gets distracted very very, very easily and he looked he looked like he was GonNa win easy and and the has over. So it kind of you know the other horses going back to him so. If he had, he had a ham handed I think he would have gone on and You would have been in these stories. So I'm glad he did. Now Three Kentucky Derby wins that that is rarefied Air Bob said after the race when he wants six, it never gets old, you feel the same way. Absolutely. You know. They ask me that the obviously when month derby ends like if it gets old you into something else go and retire and something now absolutely that that feeling that you get. The satisfaction you get, it's incredible. There's just no worse due to this drive it you know and I mean if you get up to to be in this kind of thing, Menendez GonNa. Racist It's incredible. It's just no words to describe it. You know. Got To be. Blessed.

Fed's jerome Powell Says Congress Should Do More To Save Economy

"With all possible. Respect to Jay Powell. The Chairman of the Federal Reserve is saving a cratering. American economy is no easy thing right but with all respect the time ten weeks into this thing has come to say all right. Show me what you got and we say that because Miss Pal has in television interviews in congressional testimony made clear that he believes Congress while already having done a lot of risky work should do more but he has also said. Mr Powell has what us the Fed. Oh we're not gonNA run at it and munition in more proper actual fedspeak yesterday. Ms Powell told the Senate Banking Committee. The Fed is quote committed to using our full range of tools to support the economy in this challenging time and quote so those tools what might be. Here's marketplace's Mitchell Hartman. Think of the Fed like a plumber. It's job is to make sure money keeps flowing through the US financial system when the system gets clogged by say a pandemic. The Fed whips out its monetary policy wrenches and drain remorse to unclog the flow of money. Make it cheaper and less risky to borrow and land. That's what the Fed did in mid March when it cut interest rates to zero says Brad McMillan at Commonwealth financial and that was really key to preventing paddock. Because of what? It said that the central bank was not going to let a crisis happen since then. The feds kept money flowing by adjusting banking rules. Buying up Treasury and mortgage bonds and the list goes on says Mark Zandi at Moody's analytics so the Stock Bond Markets Credit markets. Broadly are functioning. Well they still have some more room to maneuver here if they need to. Zandi says the Fed could backstop the mortgage market as more homeowners delay monthly payments and could buy more and riskier corporate bonds to keep credit flowing and the Fed is about to get money out to small and mid sized businesses through its new main street lending facility but one thing the Fed can't do says Andy is pumped money directly into the economy. Good things going again. Now that the people lost lots of jobs people very nervous lot of uncertainty. And that's more difficult for the Fed. The Central Bank could try to help Americans more directly says MIT economist. Deborah Lucas. Let's call helicopter money. They could print money and they could distribute it to households but she says that would be risky and would require the Fed to manipulate the money supply and banking system in ways it never has before I'm Mitchell Hartman for
