"Welcome back to another episode of five minutes in Church history on this episode we will be in the twentieth century visiting with James Montgomery Boyce. Doctor Boyce was born on July seven, nine, thousand, nine, hundred, thirty, eight. He lived in a bedroom community of Pittsburgh. was quite a high school athlete. His Dad was a doctor and position voice for a fine education as a high school student voice was sent to the Stony Brook School and New York. He was mentored by Frank E. "We're covering the things that we haven't gotten to really mean to get to man that feeling that you know that that feeling that it needs scratched of wanting to get around to stuff. You know my desk and I really thought for sure since I'm not traveling that I would. I would get it taken care of. And I started I was down like a couple of inches of paper bilge that builds up on my desk. I was down a couple inches. Yes, I'm going to see the surface of this desk before before. This virus releases us from its grip, and now it's super building back up again. Yeah Yeah. Yeah, it's frustrating. I! Do want to point out. Somebody has gotten something done. which is that Tony Anita? Hull took the initiative and went and ask our listeners before we recorded this show what they haven't gotten to or have been meaning to get to in their lives. And so with that in mind, I wanNA, bring Tony Anita Hill up to the Mike Tony on double duty this week. We have another thing for you later. What's on, but this one? You don't have to wear a pep blows for what's on the hot sheet. What our listeners saying? They haven't done to okay so Stephanie. Lundgren wrote I moved right before the stay at home order and I thought for sure I'd be completely unpacked and organized by now. I've been working from home, so it's not at all free time, but still. I See Oh Yeah. Oh that's the worst feeling as a person who struggles with OCD not being unpacked. I, have to tell you Stephanie. I think I was in one house for twelve years before I unpacked the last box. There's always a one box. That just has stuff that you probably never should have brought with you from the last place. Just. Couldn't you just couldn't think it and say goodbye, and so you still have it? And just sits around in a box for Twelve Years Until the cats pee in that box. That's usually that's usually what motivates we. We have a similar problem in this household and in some ways. It's worse because we bought this house. I'm going to say eight or nine years ago. and. We were living in an apartment before then and literally three weeks before we were supposed to leave the apartment and moved into. This house a pipe behind. Washing machine in our apartment burst, the whole place flooded dip fire department had to come and because of the water remediation. Process we weren't able to pack up our old apartment to move here. That had to be done by professionals. Wow! I didn't know there was such a thing. And some of those boxes were some. are still in our garage. Things wet, so you have boxes of wet belongings in your. Oh, you got to get those out you can. Boxes of wet belonging like a growth of mold. Bax Airs what you got. No, no, it's not the belongings. Themselves weren't wet. I want to point out that the flooding apartment wasn't like knee deep or anything, but it was A. Damaged the floor and stuff like that. No, that was a big flood I. Remember that I. Remember finding you and Jeannie. In the middle of the apartment in a tiny ship. And the Terni should talk to. Our tour! Wow So. There were professional packers. What does that have to do with the fact that you didn't open the boxes and take the stuff out I mean? Did it matter who put it in the box? Did you guys say to each other? It's not touched that professional packers put it in. No movers, the movers were allowed into put everything into boxes. My point is that because we didn't have time to pack up our own apartment all the crap that we were going to get rid of ended up being transferred to our new house. And you just haven't got around to. Condie, what was what was it? Marie CONDIE ING it. I didn't Murray Condo. It yet Maury Condo. What is it Tony is it? It's Murray Condo.

Roger Bennett (Men In Blazers) on the Return of the Premier League

"We Win Stadium you will be at home. I can promise you will feel you support. Stay safe. We are still with you and. You'll never walk alone. That was liberal F. C manager Jergen KLOPP in a message released yesterday. That will bring a tear, not just the eyes of his supporters. The dare I say anyone who cares about the most popular sports league in the world. That's right folks. After a three-month hiatus. The English Premier League is back today. Roger Bennett from men in blazers fills us in on these frantic few remaining weeks. So grab a pint and US as sub optimal tour of English soccer. I'm sorry, English football. I mean it comes. It's Wednesday. June seventeenth. This is ESPN daily. Presented by marathon. Roger! Kim's. Are you relieved? Your any skin daily and not my NFL pod, talking about your beloved quarterback Mitch Trubisky You Know God Love Mitch. trubisky is an incredible pressure to be knowing that your whole life is just destined to pan out to become the answer to a trivia question in about ten years, who was taken ahead of Deshaun Watson Patrick Mahomes. Roger Bennett is suffering bears fan. He's also the CO host of men in Blazers on the NBC. Sports Network and the men in Blazers podcast by just braced for him to end up with the green. Bay Packers, leading them on a fourth quarter drive two feet, my beloved Chicago Bears, and I can't wait for that movement. They'll probably deserve it. And we're not talking about bears football today. The wait is over the English premier league. The most Popular Sports League in the world is back after a one hundred day hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic Roger I'm sure you've been getting your fix from Bundesliga but I have to imagine the return of English. Soccer is hitting a little different for you. One hundred days feels like one hundred years to be candid. I've been staring at squirrels running up trees in the park, and feeling the adrenaline burst of a run through midfield, watching raindrops charge down my window and feeling just an incredible wing-play into play of missed from the primarily, but yes, it's back today with its global ratings I mean in Britain for much of Europe for much of the rest of the world outside of the United States, it's kind of a seismic as the NFL and the NBA rolled into with the Pantheon of heroes and villains to moments of glorious ecstasy, searing dispath fuse with dodgy haircuts snack tattoos. One hundred days off. When are going to have ninety two games scattered almost daily over the next couple of weeks. It's coming back because we love it because we miss it. It's coming back for. Hard news commercial reasons ultimately to an economic decision. It's going to come back and ghost game situation where it's fabulous. It's going to be different. The lack of an audience will have an impact on the football. We watched, but most importantly it is going to be good enough. It's GonNa. Be Great enough to connect us to a ruling global conversation and that's ultimately I think. Think we will miss about sports as our calling them. Ghost Games I hadn't heard that got left the Germans. They have a name for everything. Lay. They Call Them Guy Bela. And that is what they will be. Sam Darnold knows a thing or two about those back to English premier league, so we hit positive with most of the season done with exception of Liverpool they're. They're still to be decided. The top half of the table. Seven teams vying for five spots determine who will qualify for Champions League and Europa League which for those who don't know are the midseason European tournaments to be held next year. Roger Liverpool have clinched Champions League. Spot Manchester City has of course been banned from Champions League for Breaking Financial Fair play rules so that. That spot remains open despite city being second in the League. Right now. Arsenal wolves Chelsea Menu Lester Tottenham Sheffield all in the mix. What are you expecting to see from the top of the table? When the race for Champions League qualification, which is a bit like football's march madness, it's big tournament in which the best teams in the world. You're rail, Madrid, your boss Alana's. Para Sanjay Man's by Munich's compete all. Big English teams won't be in that for brand reasons for competitive reasons for commercial reasons and is. And completely wide open at the bottom of the table. All say English football has some Incorr- ellegation, which is if you watch game of thrones? It's a bit like the moon door. Teams get flung through that in baseball, the worst teams every year like the Orioles in the mall in which is flung out of the major leagues, the mooted, and in that place. We had the Tulsa drillers around rook. Rook Express and that is, it's a searing. It is a haunting. It is a savage palm of the global football tradition, and you have six teams at the bottom who are fighting to avoid what can be economically devastating their revenue roughly hauls flung out. The Premier League is savage for the fan base. One Minute. You are watching your team. Take to the glamorous fields, Manchester United and Arsenal the next. Round Brentford Luton Barnsley barring a miracle the Jewish using Norwich canaries will disappear, but there's five teams Aston. Villa Bouma th what furred and West Ham amongst them, two of which will go with them for the big story line. Meena is Liverpool Football Club. American owned little football. Club owned by the Boston Red SOx owners, F S J and their yearning. They're dreaming of a return to greatness that was once titletown by when I was a kid growing up in Liverpool. Just six points away from lending the title that they have dreamed of then. That is the great storyline of the season. On that note. This Sunday. The team that you root for I'm sorry. I'm getting a producer this side you support. Everton, we'll be squaring off against Liverpool. They are twenty five points clear off the other teams in the League, and there's possibility they can clinch the title at Goodison Park Against Your beloved Everton on Sunday

These are all barrier-breaking women Kerr changing the political landscape this year and beyond. ME, insight thought and Jennifer APPs Addison Jennifer at Edison is the president and CO executive, director of the Center for Popular Democracy, which works with affiliates partner organizations across the country to build a more inclusive equitable society and political institutions that worked for everyone. Jen. How are you doing today, i. Doing as well as anybody can be expected I'm surrounded by family I have been able to be in close contact with you know parents in loved ones, and of course I know protected with the benefits of a good union workplace so I, you know all things considered I. I'm feeling very blessed. We love to hear that in before we start the interview we were chatting in. We're talking about being on the road so much doing this work. What inspired you to get involved in community? Organizing I? Mean I think my mother was just born this way you know I grew up a black woman in the state and city that has been named the worst place in America to be Black Milwaukee, Wisconsin and I know most people don't think of black folks when they think of Wisconsin, they think of like beer cheese in the packers, but you know there have been generations of deeply entrenched. Racial segregation in in problems that have. Led to this dichotomy of Wisconsin, being one of the best places in America if you are a white child in the worst, if you are black and so I think I recognized that from an early age felt really passionate about it in a high school student I became really politicized around the around school funding around the idea that you know. Schools in the suburbs were getting twice as much per pupil. Than you know the school that I was going to in the city of Milwaukee. You know the reality is. Is that every single thing that we hold to be sort of like a part of the American dream was. Fought for and won by people organizing their communities in taking collective action in so You know I feel very blessed to be able to spend my life. Really working with folks to help as many people as possible in this country, find their voice empower. That is that is very powerful. What you just said. and. You mentioned being from Milwaukee. Were in the middle of the virus, and we're seeing it as a city where the majority of the black population there is infected with the virus in that has also just spur conversations to about how so many people still had to go to work, and how are essential workers a lot of them? Grocery workers aren't getting a fair wage in Eve. Let so many different campaigns including fight for fifteen. So how are you connecting at the moment all the work that you've been doing with fight for fifteen for people to have a fifteen dollar an hour wage in what you're seeing with essential workers who are putting their. In their lives on the line right now to make sure that we are able to get the benefits that we need and say stay in our homes. I mean first of all. What we saw just as pass Tuesday in Wisconsin was a travesty, a failure of democracy There's no way around it. You have a city. The largest city in the state. Multiple, times, the population of any other city. That is used to having over one hundred fifty polling places that on Tuesday, in the midst of a crisis in which we are not supposed to gather in large crowds, crowds over ten had five polling locations open for a critical election had A. Tens of thousands of people who had requested absentee ballots who had not received them as of Election Day, and the you know the impact on on my community on my people is is not an accident, right? It is the product a decade's worth of policy passed by elected officials who are incredibly hostile towards the city of Milwaukee on the city's behalf towards sort of neo liberal You know business oriented. Democrats who have allowed the city's most vulnerable populations to suffer in struggle and become the scapegoats of the, and so you know I'm really grateful for groups like black leader, organizing communities in the Laki and leaders igniting transformation who are organizing You know black folks. Brown folks in in the city to really demand the future they deserve in at the end of the day. All of these campaigns, the fight for fifteen, the fight for paid sick days. Many people don't know that. In Milwaukee we passed a referendum with more than two thirds of the voter support to require any business in the city of Milwaukee to provide paid sick leave earned sick leave to their workers, and that a law that was passed by voters was overturned by preemption at the state level. At the at the request of the crack mayor when we talk about the now eighty seven percent of the people who have died of Covid nineteen in Wisconsin are black. We have to understand that this is a consequence of lack of. Political Power and UVA intentional suppression of in particular Black Communities in the state of Wisconsin, and so it's important that we're having this conversation in the context of she, the people of you know a movement of a women of color who are demanding more than just to see at the table, but who are demanding real power. That, we can use to transform the lives of our people. That's what women of Color braying and I. Think you know it's if we look at what's happening in Wisconsin through the Lens of women of Color, we begin to understand the multiple layers enrich raises on in sexism and capitalism are creating. This you know are exploding the impact of this crisis in places like Milwaukee, Detroit and New York. City another's

How a Top NLP Startup is Growing, with Caitlyn Brooksby, Executive Director of PR/Communications at Canary Speech

"Is the executive director of PR and communications at Canary Speech Walking Caitlin. Thanks for being here for having so Canary. Speech was named one of the most promising. Nlp STARTUPS TWO THOUSAND. Nineteen and the company describes itself as being at the intersection of healthcare and technology. Can you tell us a little bit more about what Canary Speech does? And why it is seen as one of the most promising and I'LL BE STARTUPS. Not a great question. You know what I think about. That really takes me back to origin story right. How do we start so five years ago? Our founders Jess Adams in Henry Call. They had been friends for over nearly three decades. Honestly and you know they had lived their careers and they got together and what they wanted to do was set auguste standard in a speech and language industry. They were poised to do it right both. Jeff and Henry. They have a clear the experience in Ashley had the excitement to do it and it really well doctors one question and why light you mentioned because normally talk about speech language industry it really can get techy if you don't really deep which is exciting that fun but what we started with nearest started with was this is how is was humans understand the raw motion in the words that someone speaks. You know when you're talking to your sister or your best friends and you ask how their duty say no good but not you know. There's something different right it's off. And how can we do that as humans? And how you use and what we've done is use machine guided machine learning and to really understand identify conditions. So that really is us so now. Today were six. Hatton's later boss. Us An international. And we've just taken this to a whole new level of redefining speaking language in the healthcare industry and so we talk about healthcare in No the intersection there. That that's really what we're setting out to utilize each language in the healthcare industry and bringing it just that step further so about you know. That's exciting because it does take voice to another level like you said you're not only hearing the words but your understanding you know they should behind what's being said and especially in the healthcare space. That's really important. How are you able to do that? I mean if you can talk about that a little bit. Is there a lot of testing research? They're able to kind us to understand the emotions. Someone's voice yes so really I like to Don frears and so what we've done is we've identified two thousand four hundred fifty eight biomarkers in speech. Okay what is a biomarker? What we're talking about here is like tonal. Quality these aspects of speech but mo up. It's what our body creates. And so we're gonNA find these biomarkers and then we developed bottles that are Z. Specific so they're not person's right cake a rich history of somebody's entire healthcare data and compare it but really what we're duty is a disease that he used mass in really scaled and just be utilized healthcare industry and then he used these models as our speech data so we started out here siege. Five years ago we really were focused on farm street. We were in FDA. Hire me cynical. Trials to this is very controlled environment right and we did this. Because we wanted to be able to cruise our technology and energy to get s right wide able to really tune in for router market or the playstation of it and so we really spent a solid three years of just focusing on these controlled. Studies REALLY AMAZING COPIES. Who wanted to get their to market or just simply to help with a civic disease and so that was really exciting to be a part of that and then we really moved into studies where we from the one hundred group right that were testing to really like in the thousand. Just last month we were able to reach a project that had heard ten thousand over dissipate and that was just exciting me. Mary siege his coming to blow background. Like how is this talk about area of science but what we realized early on was that we need full sets to go into a steadier going for project so what we do is hatcher tissue speech on a person's smart device so we use iphones IPADS android. We use these devices to captures fees. We also talk about the intersection of healthcare technology. What's really exciting is. We decided again early. On though he needed to create that bridge. What we were doing in the healthcare street was connected to what we were going to rate so reduce we include the gold standard Or are the panels which used to go to your doctor if you're dealing with stress I e Rd typically piece of paper that you're asked to allow the pen and paper and rate yourself on Howard layer urge years weeks ago and that's what your position uses to solve. You treats the symptoms that you're dealing with when you work with your physician that you say you could just read their seconds of across cheer South Kearns for the doctors I and made from that based on her stress near Zion Unions. And now we're there which brothels really exciting as a company you've made strides that that's a society scalable. That's Donbass it and resilient school that your physician to news you can use these tests. Don't have to be administrated within the hospital space or in the administrative is like family real and that's a place where is comfortable and you think about what's gone on over the last three or by months with coded ninety it really brings tall houses centerstage in funny. I was seven or eight years ago. I was on one of the committees to bring telehealth mount healthcare in your mouth. Nearly ten years ago I started my career there and is now. I'm embarrassed to say but I used to work for the very first time three months ago. I got a cold sore. I mean I knew it wasn't over ninety but I knew I needed some kind of policy packer. Someone is able to use tell homey bonus. I think that's really going to become the nor so. Yeah that's simple bit of our coaching kind of how I see it. How we see ED signing into healthcare. I agree. I mean we've definitely been using. How much more than we have over time and like I said I love that you all are kind of focusing on this emotional piece. You had mentioned earlier that your company also has multiple patents. Can you share with us? What they are. And why was it important for the company to have patents and do you think that something other voice technology companies should be doing for sure so that we pride ourselves? Moore is coming non-negotiable or Henry Projects. They knew that they wanted language. And in order to do that we had to prove that our technology was novel. And it's really exciting. Because just two weeks ago he had are six patents in the EU and so total right so acid time is for the EU. We were awarded one hundred of our planes which is now is not Donald Law. We were in a meeting with one of our clients. Actually find that I met last lie. Voice show guys and they astor pat they. So what do you think about these pens and looked around set rock-solid on that was exciting? I was excited be in for CEO. So I'll break down. Three strategic areas are Hatton's first one is that selection of the twenty four hundred biomarkers show and that had is called is slipping speech germs for building models for detecting medical conditions. So that patent is discharge behind. It is how we go about these biomarkers and using them within our guy and then the second is the. Pat Huddle is medical assessment based on voice. So there's really strategies around this particular the versus we use these selected biographers to identify. Disease are hunger stations. Each right. We're not to read this verbatim Hans. That's awkward not natural right. We're saying hey is our technology on conversational speech. Something that you and I are right now. And then. The third kind of strategy area is use of this artificial speech on vices in zone patented utilize the techniques together on smart devices. And what would that be your watch or your phone right? In an dots really were strategies are

"Welcome back to pass gun earnings alert on take to Josh. Lipton's got all the details. Hey Josh so Melissa you dig into this report. Listed on the segments digital online was a beat. Physical retail was a beat Q. One the forecast given for bookings ahead of expectations handily. For the year though bookings that are calling for between two point. Five five and two point six five billion. That was a bit light there. Also we're looking for two point. Seven billion some interesting commentary here from the company saying that fiscal twenty twenty one will be say a light year for new releases though they do say they expect to deliver strong results. It was interesting on. The call does trousdale Nick. I'm talking about some of his Marquee Franchises Grand theft auto five sales. He said surpassed expectations. The big question for investors is when grand theft auto? Six is coming Oppenheimer's Andrew. Erc tells me he's still banging. That's twenty twenty two event the trailer. Though he thinks likely hits the next twelve months that would be significant. He says he thinks that game at three or four dollars. Eps Now on the coal. That stock was hiring. Executives began to give some color on their long-term pipeline executive saying they have ninety three titles planned for release over the next five years. They say forty. Seven from existing. Franchises FORTY-SIX ARE NEW STAR. This big reversal in the stock. I was just messaging back and forth. Michael Packer of Wedbush. He says it was that. A color on the pipeline. That was really the problem. He says. Investors simply wanted more specifics more visibility and color not just numbers and he thinks people were disappointed by that specifically said people really wanted to know that. Gta grand theft auto was definitively coming in two thousand twenty. Two impact says they did not provide that Melissa back to you

Meat processing workers fear health risks despite increased pay

"Well a fourth USDA food inspector has died of the corona virus that comes as the meat packing plants they inspected become hot spots for outbreaks at least ten thousand meatpacking workers across the country have been infected likely far more and at least thirty have died Kim Cordova as president of the U. F. C. W. local seven union which represents workers in Colorado and Wyoming including meat Packers she joins us now welcome thank you for having me well let's start with the workers that you represent several thousand workers for the food processing giant J. B. S. what has happened to them since this pandemic began how many have gotten sick so we have had seven deaths in the Greenlee put facility so I believe we have the largest death toll for the entire country total for our plant we have three hundred sixteen positive cases but we have not had testing for all of the workers so they did not until this week even offer testing for a symptomatic workers is so the plant was closed back in April after the third death at the plant so they are back in operating again but yes we've had several deaths since the plan was re opened and what are the conditions like at this point in the plan is the facility save how close together or the workers were kind of protection do they have so while the plant was closed the company did make some improvements to the plant like in the lunch rooms break rooms they put plexi glass dividers that on the fabrication side of the floor they did put metal dividers that they have markings on the floor to identify six foot of social distancing their staggering breaks also they do not have the highest level of personal protective equipment like respirators but without daily testing and they opened up that plant without testing all of the workers we've seen the numbers start to move up again you know the plant was about a hundred and twenty somewhere around there positive cases those were workers that were had symptoms that were tested at yesterday's numbers that we have three hundred and sixteen and they just started offering voluntary testing but out of sight that's not on the plant you know on the plant site you have to drop five to a community college and get tested and they also have the testing during work hours so they are going to have to do something about that personal protective equipment and areas in the plant where you just can't social distance well what do workers tell you are they glad to be going back into work or they're afraid you know a lot of workers are scared they need to be able to pay their rent and provide you know a living for their families a lot of workers are still grieving the death of their co workers and as well as their family members that died so we still have workers that are on ventilators you know we know of one family that soon have to make it to the you know the most horrible decision to take their family member there JB it's a J. B. as she's a JBS worker off the ventilator or you know she will be on the ventilator for the rest of her life in a coma so it's it's a really bad situation for the workers Kim let me ask you this question because there are a lot of listeners probably hearing you talk about this and wondering whether they ought to just stop buying meat for the moment because they don't want to contribute to the situation what would you say to Americans who are hearing this and they're worried about being part of the problem there is a way that you can run this plant and keep the food supply chain going it we need to run it safely so when the president of the United States states invoked his executive order you know he failed to provide any type of safety mechanisms or invoke you know strong safety laws enforceable laws that would be number one so you can run the food supply chain if we had safety controls in place so there needs to be some real change in those industries and you can continue to continue the flow of the food chain but we need to have it say for the work force let me finally ask you you represent another group of workers the Kroger's grocery store workers in Kroger's has announced that it is ending here pay for workers this weekend that was an additional two dollars an hour that it was giving to workers during this crisis what what are your workers saying about that well they're really upset because we're not out of the woods yet you know with the states opening up these workers are going to be put but you know they're still at risk they have to often work you know address customers face to face whether helping and assisting them and for the company to take the bonus away with the workers don't understand that because the companies have profited the most Kroger has they've had record sales but they're taking the pain away from the front line workers and so we're hoping that croaker reef you know rethink their decision and provide that additional two dollars for these workers that have really risked everything there's that their health and safety as well as their family members that is Kim Cordova who is president of UFCW local seven union in Colorado and Wyoming she represents meatpacking employees grocery store workers and more thank you so much for joining us thank you Jeremy have a wonderful have a

Pretty much family do many friends on there. Just might just my family kids things like that. And then Over time I recognize calling some folks And checking in on a more regular basis. I'M GONNA ask you to. My favorite list was a big deal to get on my favorite. This it's like being on my friends list on facebook. It's not too many over there. I keep kind of lean got picky about that stuff. Big Your friends have to support me and I have to support them. Anything in between is really not worth dealing with so called my friend. He lives in Connecticut to travel the world. We talk occasionally. He's a he's a coachie coach. Kinda guy always on the road always traveling always studying now. He's getting sparked by talking to him. We we often will save the problems. We'll solve the problems of the world and save the world in one one phone call. It's pretty easy so I called up actually to see if we could solve the problems of the world over the course of this phone call. I thought why not you know it's going to a slower than I would like so maybe I can actually put her mind to it and say we can do so. I called him up and he picked up the phone. I asked why said Wolf. Hey what are you doing to save the world? Yeah somewhat joking. But his answer really didn't surprise me. He said well literally. I only watch twenty minutes of TV a day. That's at twenty minutes of news a day. I can stay in touch. They'd give kind of goes he rift on me said because I find that if I watch any more than that I lose my productivity. It's impossible to watch that news and a have any any sense of what you really want to do. I'm with him on that by the way and he says I write. I get my work. Done helped my kids with school in general doing pretty much everything to stay grounded. Keyword there grounded. You're looking at picked up the phone. I knew I was at that point. He's busy I'm part of that day. Right he said how how about you what are you doing. Well told him that he was looking at decided to call them in the first place. Because I'm kind of in the same spot I don't initiate anything. That's GonNa bring drama into my life particularly with my drama. My life is drama right now. All of our lives drama right now and I'm pretty much the same except playing with dogs and kids. Alpacas will I refuse to let this crazy carousel of life? That most folks writing right now to become my right of choice not going to happen. You talk for a while. Actually talked for two hours covered every conceivable topic. You could imagine now. I don't think we actually saved the world. I'm really not sure yet. Haven't seen the result. May it may happen. It may happen because you want you start thinking and talking and it gets out kind of into the ether in the universe before you know it's out there and then people start hearing what you've been thinking and they talk taking action which you will you know how all that works right just a cool conversation putting some thoughts and thoughts very powerful things and they get out to the most powerful thing in the world or your thoughts and when you put them out there my goodness you start acting differently and people people start reacting to you differently. Don't they it Kinda feel something? You don't really know exactly what's going on but then something's going on so they. Kinda WANNA hang out a little bit or maybe an idea POPs in their head in the middle of the night in a dream. They don't even know why who knew. It was because I decided to interrupt my friends day and call him and see how he was doing and just chat about how to how solve all the problems of the world now will admit back in the day about twenty five years ago. I used to do it over a bunch of beer. I'd go into a city and meet a friend so it's got to have some beer and save the world that never worked back then. This one may have a little bit more power so I don't think we did but but I think we are. Certainly working on on. Saving ourselves are we. I reaching out by having that conversation. Are You doing that? Or you're reaching out to people around your those conversations it's crazy how this crazy agenda-driven world that we're in right now it's crazy how we are isolated in a way that is blocking us again at the same time we're able to reach out and plug into the simple joys of life. Are you doing that right now? Are you finding a way to plug into the things that just makes sense to you? Are you working with those kids? Are you baking cookies? Are you working in the yard? I've been to home depot recently. I'll tell you what there's a lot of y'all work in the yard because you can't check out at home depot y'all by all the flowers all those wheelbarrows and everything are all out there. And they're all gone now so. I'm assuming you do kind of the simple stuff in life. The more you pay attention to that the more you will will keep your sanity and keep your optimism. Keep your spirit.

"Taking care prioritizing Dak Prescott it's an insult to Dak Prescott and what's annoying me about all of these pundits everybody that talks about this stuff on a I understand everybody's football knowledge. I UNDERSTAND IMPLICATIONS. I understand you know long term versus short term before year deal instead of a five year deal and Dak Prescott going back and forth because he wants to be a free agent after the fourth year. That way he can position himself to get a boatload of money down the line and Jerry Jones might be fighting all of that. All I get all of that. My issue is very simple. If this were Tony Romo same numbers. Same Reckitt same situation. You would have signed him by now. That's my problem and I'm not GonNa let that go because nobody wants to bring that up. That is the issue to me. The issue to me is that Tony Romo would have been signed. Dak Prescott came into the National Football League as a fourth round pick. Tony Romo was hurt. That Prescott played lights out during a preseason started off the season was flat out ball and people were contemplating Tony Romo coming back and everybody and their grandmother knew that this was Dak Prescott team even guys that were used to play and win super bowl championships for the Dallas cowboys. New Tony Romo's Day was up in Dallas because Adak Prescott. Everyone was willing to concede that but one man and that was Jerry Jones who would not budge who kept going in front of the media week after week. Giving it to Tony Romo could be back. We're excited we haven't given up. You know this is his team etc. Such you hesitate it until the Lebed. Our fifty nine th minute to give back Prescott. The keys to the to the franchise. And now that he's earned it leading..

"Let's get started as we always do with the headlines that you need to know and it starts with some. Nearly growing number of premier league players do not WanNa play football during the pandemic corona virus contest as we continue to go so looks like it's not going to be any resumption anytime soon from the Premier League reminder that even when lease WanNa come back into it to play. You're still have to agree to it so as the project restart scheme had hoped to get play going again. It now looks like players not so anxious to make that happen next up on your headlines we have a signing for the Dallas cowboys. But not the guy everybody's keeping. They've reached a deal with veteran. Cornerback Daryl Worley. So early last year played for my beloved raiders at this point joins a crowded corner room. And we'll see what it means moving forward but remember after the draft. The Cowboys Lost Byron Jones of the Miami Dolphins. Of course they say they have some flexible position. Were they can put guys at corner and Safety Big Room. We'll see moves forward. And lastly the NC Double A. May have taken a massive step forward as they've they've come out with a plan from their top governing body that supports a proposal to allow college athletes to sign endorsement contracts and receive payment for other work provided that the schools they attend are not involved in any of the payments. So this is the group that the incident of a put together to try and figure out ways to allow name and likeness to be profited on for these athletes and find a work around. That doesn't mean the schools are actually paying them. So what they're proposing is allowing third party. Endorsements unchartered territory for the NC. Double Able see what it means moving forward. They've also been clear that this is just the beginning of the plan and that Their hopes is that he finalized plan will be reached by the end of the year. That can be voted on no later than January. We're going to get some updates on that from somebody that's in the thick of it and just a little bit as we'll get some concept around what this looks like for the college football world. It's I take your take on. Espn RADIO THE ESPN APP. Espn news. I'm Jason Fitz presented by Progressive Insurance. We're going to let you get your take in as go today. We've got a lot to get into a lot of different stories. I don't WanNA opinion down on any one thing so we're going to let you chime in on everything across the board as we continue to analyze some I take. I take today started with Aaron Rodgers. "Blowhards in Detroit David Blau in the lions next week to clinch a by and they could even move up to the one seed chance forty niners lose. I would say don't just assume that's happening. The chances feel good so so. Let's talk about this game a little bit because the packers certainly did not blow the doors off the Vikings Aaron Rodgers and company. They you know. They struggled for large portions of this game on offense against a good vikings demon in a very difficult place to play. But I think the story of this game really will be what a massive egg. The Vikings Kings laid an Wessel. Start with you I know you and I have had our disagreements with Kirk cousins and the Vikings were blamed should be assessed when the vikings go wrong and this does not make me the winner that argument you're right and everything he said it was all right. Dan is declared the winner. Now that is that is not true because a lot of people people didn't show up in this game it's certainly not kirk cousins either seven first downs for Minnesota and four quarters the fewest home game by this organization since Nineteen seventy-one Avenue. One Keith. Hands US was a junior at Clarkston high school at that time senior clocks down high. The man's grandfather. Wes speak to it. Come on Kirk cousins. Put the team on your back when they need you. Well like I said on Thursday you and I see more IDA. I'd on this than than it seems like. I don't care what his record is on Monday night football that is immaterial it like somehow nine Monday night games are better than than Sunday games. I might have been true in one thousand nine hundred three three. I don't think that's been true lately. Thirdly we've seen this before he didn't come up. When the redskins needed a late season victory he didn't come up big when the Vikings of two thousand eighteen needed a late season victory and he didn't come up big tonight and like you said the blame can be assessed to a running game? That didn't exist. An offensive line that got worked over by the packers Akers front seven a defense that got some turnovers but also allowed one hundred and fifty yards to Aaron Jones. A coach who punted down thirteen with three and a half minute or four minutes left in the game. There's a lot of blame to go around but I you cannot escape. The Kurt cousins led an offense that had seven first downs. And like you said since one thousand nine hundred seventy. One was the last time that happened in Vikings home game. This is one of the most disappointing performances. Any team is head all year. I mean it's it's the worst offensive performance. You can't write how embarrassing this is. The only team to have fewer first downs in a game. This season also on Monday night football. Here's a little trivia. Come on and guess it I'd say Chicago. There's got to be able to guess at jets fans in the room. It was the Patriots. That's the only guy of removed that frontal lobotomy. Like the the Kennedy Kit third-string accountant playing quarterback the jets that. I'm not sure that the difference the difference is this is for the NFC north title. And you you come in the packers defense and Mike Patton and especially as it area. Spit everyone on. That defense deserves all the credit in the world for totally dominating but to score ten points because you had a three and out inside the ten yard line and because Kirk cousins made one nice pass it was a twenty six yard drive. Where he had the throw for the touchdown? That's how you got your ten points you had thirteen drives. None of them. went over thirty one yards. You can't put any blame on the defense. The defense played great. They gave him the ball three extra times including giving them to scoring chances than the only allowed twenty three points. That's that's an a minus from your defense has been around For a long time and I kept getting put in bad positions. This was the most embarrassing offensive performance. Anything let me go through. Let me go through it here. This is the vikings possessions After recovering a fumble. Right off the bat. By the packers four plays five yards six plays eighteen yards three plays negative two yards three replays. Twenty six yards three plays five yards four plays six yards three plays five yards three place seven yards six plays thirty thirty one yard. That's up section. Five days twenty yards three plays negative for yards seven plays twelve yards and finally four plays negative five yards. I mean mark this outrageous and that's why I think we were even saying to each other At the midway point that the Green Bay's three turnovers early that you see these in game. The Minnesota did nothing with that. They were unable to do anything with that. And you felt that Green Bay would find a way to come back and my favorite moment. The moment of the night was when packers packers coach Matt Leflore was described by heath hands as a little kid with a beard and yet somehow somehow the coach and Aaron Rodgers have gotten this this far and I have no questions. I have no problem with the Vikings being pushed down to where they belong at the sixth seed because they're an inferior team to green bay but also to every single other team in the NFC race. Because I don't trust them on the road I don't trust them at home. They are flawed. Guys like Adam the'll and not healthy they without Delvin Cook. I think that's Hugh I think we talked about. Whether without Dalvin Cook they'll be fine. I simply don't agree because you need well. I didn't think it would make a big difference and has it wouldn't have made that big of not tonight. But when they when when we've looked at their offense and believed in their abilities little things like tonight attempting to trick play having to go into the trick. Play bag because they simply couldn't get basic plays done and you've kirk cousins rolling out and dropping overthrown pass and he threw off Audra. Well no doubt for of course Dick puts that on them. They have I intended. The all I'd say is that you can. You can Kinda tell. Sometimes it's in a game early that a team's going to get into a flow and they just never found that way into this game at home. I think it's very concerning for them. I see them as a one and done seem in the playoffs. It was hard to see this game coming though. I mean they were a top aide offense in efficiency according to football outsiders coming into this. They've been top ten in offense and defense in points like I dot. They actually passed protected. Pretty well coming into this night and especially in the fourth quarter. I think that Area Smith. He's not GonNa Win Defensive Player of the year but he would be in my top five and and putting them in my top five all year and this was one of the best games any defensive players at all year three and a half sacks five tackles for loss. Well you've been saying that you like him for a defensive player that your candidate because he makes a play or a big play every week he sort of the NFC's version of TJ. What this year and you saw tonight five? QB Hits five tackles for loss three point five five sacks. That's just a that's A. That's one of the Best Defensive Games we've seen. It's weird. Because their defense. The packers started the season playing so well. That was what Aaron Rodgers Roger said coming off the field and we. We've got a defense you've got it even. And then they went away for two months but here they are in December and the packers offense isn't consistent and they weren't tonight but they still have Aaron Jones and they still have. They still have Aaron Rodgers like they have enough offense when the defense is playing. They've allowed about twelve and a half points per game over the last month breath. This was the first really good offense. They've shut down. The Vikings are among the best big-play offense in the NFL. Before this game do you see them as maybe like like the AFC's version of the chiefs. Considering they have Rogers Aaron Jones Davante Adams and then defense has been improving for the past month. I so I think I'm with mark because mark. You're getting agitated watching this game. You don't like either these teams you. Don't view either team. Don't back off your no absolutely a super bowl threat now and I don't necessarily disagree with you because it does feel like the packers. Despite the twelve and three record they feel like a step step below. which I don't think about the chiefs? I think the chiefs are a team that can absolutely make major noise all the way to Miami potentially if things break the right way. I think both things can be true though I think they are a step below the saints and the forty niners and that if they get the one seed in there you know they're gonna get the two seed. Can Mike Patton and win a home game. But that's Greg answer because they did that happen on our planet but like in terms of were really. Where does our belief all the Green Bay tonight was a couple of bad place from losing this game also because their offense was defunct for for two plus quarters they they still move the ball through dominated the game and they had three hundred and eighty three yards? There was a couple nice defensive. Plays where you knocked the ball out of Aaron Jones's Davante Adams his hand ultimately. They did what they needed to do. They came in there and they embarrassed their dominate. The first half where they have three turnovers and are doing nothing on offense and putting up field goals. But I hear you that like. There's no question that they are the better team some of this situation but I struggle with them as a second seed when I have the saints in the niners out there in that field. It'd be number one. I mean Seattle beat Francisco next week is not take that crazy and wes you know we we did go at it a little bit on cousins but this kills him. I mean this is. I totally agree whether whether what you're the point you're making that people get too hung up on where he stands when the team fails whatever. The viewpoint is this whatever people thought and the majority of people who view him a guy that comes up small when it matters and when the when the spotlight's on average less than four yards at ten an attempt and if you also factor in going into this game if you do believe cousins is a guy that does come up small when you saw the Dabbagh Cook was out and then you saw that. Madison Madison was out. It was very clear that point that cousins was going to need to do what Carson Wentz is done quite frankly in Philadelphia these last few weeks which is put the team on his back and and I guess I mean there's just so much evidence and I know your arguments never been like. Well he can do it. He just hasn't done it yet. That the evidence is there that that's he's he's just never going to be that guy and maybe that all changes Next month but this just continues to hammer home that legacy that in primetime against good teams He will come up small has he is one of the people who did. Come up small for the Vikings tonight. Absolutely well your argument has been that. He's a statistical monster who comes up small and I've got no problem with that. My my defense of him has been about shoehorning that argument into the conversation. He is is not a quarterback Jameis Winston where he leaves his fingerprints all over every game. Some Games he's not needed to be the story and it still ends up being the story. So that's where I I think offensive and I think that's where you guys are closer to agreement is. He can't lift the team by himself he can. I think that's and I think the coaching in staff is part of it. Kevin's defence kids like whatever their plan was. It clearly didn't work Mike. Patton had had dialed up and Kenny Clarke and especially as it area Smith. You know..

It was that kind of night for the chicago bears the green bay packers hackers and a dominating defense of showing take out the defending division champions tend to three at soldier field in the n._f._l. It was about mike petten and the packers defense ten to the three season opening win just like the the big game last year in week. One the packers break the bears hearts and that's how it all starts dan hands of the around the n._f._l. Podcast joined in the backyard of what is it. What do we call on. West rose were here in the backyard with of course greg rosenthal's my left mark cecil next to me and wes and <hes> lakisha here tara deaker and it's a beautiful night in southern california. We sat outside chirping. Crickets are chirpin ambient sound. That's all of mitch trubisky fans hands. Yes exactly exactly so. Let's get into talking about this game <hes> because listen i don't think we were expecting a shootout greg but no one expected game at this level and we could dissect <hes> how poorly the bears played but give it up for the packers defense which balled out right here lots of people had great. Night's goudie was one of brian to the packers. General manager brings in preston smith who gets three q._b. Hits in this <unk> game including the game finish zig area smith. I think hadn't even bigger impact the brings adrian aimo senate who has the key interception <hes> his draft half picks darnold savage and i think the two safeties they have savage in amos are gonna let mike pet and do a lot of crazy stuff back there. He loves having five six defensive backs. They're not going to dominate like this every week but you could just see aaron rodgers after the game. How happy is that. He's going to have a difference making defense and i think they can be a top seven the eight ten defense all season. I don't think there's a fluke. I mean i i think part of it is the offense you play tonight in chicago. That seems like a work in progress and you know a lot of those players did not operate great in the preseason and airy measured compared to what you were saying during well. No i mean i i would say this. I leave your credit because i think mike patton you. You got some with these games back. When he was cleveland coach in the one good season they had and when he was the jets coach when he started his court kind of feel himself in the second quarter with this defense they got aggressive and they took chances and they were able to against the bears offense it in the second half. I'll never forget this drive where it's one points i and forty then it's second and forty than its third and forty and i you know for all the people who want to tug mitch trubisky into this conversation a franchise quarterback. I've not seen someone with that. Label look has lost consistently on third down as he did tonight. There seemed to be no plan for this offense or he could not pull them out of the trouble. They got into and it's going to be a long week for him. I know logically not to overreact two week. One especially after the quarterback didn't play in the preseason but there is a there's a feeling of collaboration just throwing mitch trubisky by the way so this is the big breaking news the midway through the.

"Packers insiders docks on the FOX in Waterford. Let's welcome in rich, Raymond Green Bay press cassette. He writes about the business of the Packers. I rich. Thank you so much for being with us. Hey, how you doing? Manso goodrich. We're glad that you're here. I wanted to start by asking you about coach McCarthy an event held earlier this week where he kind of played Santa for some kids. What was the demeanor of the coach the coach of anything of note to say? Well, I'm not sure that that was not a story that I wrote I it was one that I picked up from Kim remind our who is one of our reporters, and to be honest. I'm not sure that was this year thing that might have been of previous year. But it was. One of the radio stations up here at asked him to do it. And and their whole point was, you know, he always up for doing those kinds of things and always especially when it has something to do with helping the kids out. Hey, let me shift gears writing about Paul McCartney concert Lambeau Field. This has become a big deal for the Packers. And this one was red hot. It was sold out. All right. Well, they announced the sell out today, but pretty much all the tickets were gone by Tuesday. I think and people are looking forward to that. We had Billy Joel here two years ago, and in that one went over and this one is even bigger. Did this sell out faster than those other ones? Are there any way to measure how popular this concert? Ben. The Packers said this is the fastest non-football sell out. They've ever had it lambofield. Holy cow. Rich rhyming Green Bay press gazette is with us on WTMJ. I wanted to ask you if you have any update or any knowledge about the Packers hosting the draft. They've indicated rich that they want to do that any update on when that might happen or where we're at in the process or how that whole thing works. Well, it would be in twenty twenty two or after partly because are primarily because we are building a new exposition center here, which they expect to have done some time in twenty twenty one and the Packers think they need that space to help host the draft for a lot of the different things that go on during the draft. And they are reasonably optimistic that the NFL will give them a serious chance to do that. You know, I think the NFL understand it's going to be a smaller draft than it would be in some other places because we are a smaller town, but we have plenty to offer. It's not the Las Vegas strip. Exactly. But if you want to highlight NFL history world, what's a better place in Green Bay? Yeah. Rich. We also hear about the teams playing in London from year to year the five teams that we were going to host games either in London or Mexico City revealed see two of those teams on the Packers scheduled for next year. But it seems like the buzz for the Packers playing in London. Get squashed rather quickly because teams just don't want to give up their own home games. That is that's been the story so far and of those two teams the Packers actually host the raiders. So they're they're not an option either. So really just for before next year comes down to the chargers, and you know. The chargers have not made it official yet that they won't. At the Packers to go to London. But since I get from inside Lambeau is that they're not expecting it. Schwartz writer rich, Raymond with us on WTMJ. Russell Beckmann is the Packers fan who also on season tickets to the bears game this week. He has been battling to be able to wear his Packers gear on the sideline. This sunday. There's an update on that story too. Isn't there rich? Good job. You're going right down my list here. Yeah. Russell Beckmann sued. The bears because they wouldn't let him wear Packers gear as part of a bears season ticket holders reward program, which he is a bare season ticket holder as well as the Packers season ticket holder this this week he or last week they filed asking for a temporary restraining order to allow him to do that this Sunday while the rest of the case is still pending and the judge did not offer did not issue the restraining order. So the bears can still keep him out. Of that program. If he wants to make him changes jersey if he wants to wear Packers stuff, but the lawsuit remains alive and he intends at this point to continue to pursue it Freeman Green Bay press gazette. I end always enjoy your work rich. Thank you so much for being with us. Thank you have a great weekend. All right. You too right after the news the radio holiday show WTMJ's show. It's going to be playing coming up here. A special look behind the scenes that's coming up. Right after the news. I it's news about your money. Tony Drake with the WTMJ, Drake and associates market update. Stocks fell today after weaker-than-expected data in China and Europe fueled concerns of a global economic slowdown China reported industrial output and retail sales growth numbers for November that missed expectations. This is the latest sign shown by China that it's a Konami may be slowing down. The data also underscored the rising risks to China's economy. To me as Beijing works to resolve an ongoing trade war with the United States industrial production in China grew by five point four percent in November on a year over year basis. That's the slowest pace in nearly three years retail sales. Meanwhile, grew at their slowest rate since two thousand three European shares also fell after the release of weaker-than-expected forecast. "Former? Packers going to be joining us as well. Great debut. Enjoy we are on a Wednesday tomorrow. The titans play by the way against the Jags which looks boring, but I think the titans are gonna now win three straight. Go nine and six and face the colts and Andrew luck at the end of the year for a playoff spot. So watch the titans play tomorrow against the boring. Jags coming up, Greg Jennings. Alexi Lalas later in bass for last there's something that hasn't happened in the NFL in a decade. But I think that's about to change but more shakeup within the Packers coaching ranks. So let me get to it. So yesterday, I spent a significant amount of time on the show saying the problem with the Packers organization is they have no owner, and because they have no owner, no other team in pro sports has this. They have no owner. So the star legendary quarterback Brett farve or Aaron Rodgers become too powerful. Nobody can hold them accountable. I mean, it would Tom Brady there's a billionaire above him. Drew brees. There's a billionaire above him ally. Manning, there's a billionaire above him. Carson Wentz is a billionaire above him. Aaron Rodgers he's the richest guy in the state. He's a richest guy in the town. He's the most powerful guy. I think it's a problem. Nobody holds them accountable. So here's a prime example. Yesterday. Winston moss. He's an outside linebacker coach for the Packers. Not even the linebacker coach. We'll just give you the Outside Linebackers now a real powerful guy. Right. Former player he put out a tweet, which is completely inoffensive. I mean, it's nobody would be offended by this. So you went to Twitter, and he put out a tweet and the tweets has ponder this. What championship teams have great leadership period. It's not the offensive guru trend. It's not the same trend. Find somebody that's gonna hold number twelve and everybody in the building to a Lombardi standard. That's always said, that's it. And they fired him two hours later. They ran him out of the building. You gotta be kidding me. People are walking on eggshells..

"The news. Heard on the news. This is the heard line news. Well, someone who won't be fighting Harbaugh for that. Packers job is Bruce Arians. Because since the Packers side the part ways. Thanks mccarthy. There's been a lot of names mentions. Yeah. Potential candidates for their next head coach one of them being Bruce Arians and areas recently act asked about his interest in the gay just take a listen. Would you have any interest in the Packers job? No, not at all. Why would that be? If I ever returned coaching. They're willing to be in Cleveland. Okay. That's interesting. You know, the the love affair for Cleveland because you know, the Packers are really good situation with Rogers. I have no desire to coach Green Bay. That's kind of interesting. Well, I will tell you this. There are jobs that sound vague and sound great. But are not that great. Was there ends isn't in a position where he has to get a coaching job. So this is this is it's really up to him at this point. And he was around office coordinator from two thousand one and two thousand three. Yeah. So this is not a job. He wants how many people say NFL areas with Aaron Rodgers though, I couldn't either. I don't think that's a good, man. I don't know Bruce Arians would be great with Baker Mayfield. I don't be honest with you. I don't know you'll school, and he's a little I mean, BRUCE'S fun. But he says he's a lot of work. I mean, he's going to get right after you. Yeah. I mean, he's he's a good coach. I just I just don't think that those personalities that makes them especially Baker. So the Steelers have lost some of them are men them recently after dropping the last two games and things become a little bit more challenging now. Because James CONNER is now out for this week's game against the raiders. Mike Tomlin said yesterday, they'll be doing a running back by committee approach. And here's his explanation for that. Intentions as we sit here. But we have a preparation week in front of us. And sometimes visit Labor's reveal to you through that work. We got a great deal of confidence in Ridley we've got a great deal of confidence in Jalen particularly of late with Jalen. He's a guy who's been on the rise in recent weeks. "He might not be directly sitting in there on the interview. But you best believe if a head coach is on that radar when they go to dinner air is going to be at dinner, and he's going to be talking and they're gonna figure out. Hey, does this work is to chemistry here with these guys? Can they get along? I think you have to do that. If you don't you do yourself a disservice. Here's my question. The Packers don't have an owner. Yeah. Okay. So remember when Brady and Bella check had their rift Angelou who settled it Bob Kraft. Yes, sir. Okay. Uh-huh. When Jason Garrett and Dez Bryant and Dak had an issue who settled it Jerry Jones Packers have no owner note. So if you have this. Here's a weird thing farve and Rogers are the only two quarterback. Ax in my lifetime who've never had a boss. Let's be honest. It's a quarterback league. Not a coach Lee coaches important. But if you have air Brett farve, and there's a problem you getting rid of the coach not Brett farve Aaron Rodgers no owner in Green Bay is that it sounds weird to me. But it's like I think it's an issue who's ultimately Aaron 'cause Tom Brady can when all the rings in the world. But even he knows Bob Kraft could have him on the street tomorrow. I almost wonder is Green Bay almost they hand the franchise to farve. They've handed the franchise to Aaron do they have too much power. I don't know what they have too much power. But it is a unique situation, and is a situation that you can't you can't deny or hide it because you're right in every other situation is always one of the person who ultimately has the final say, so who's richer always in a quarterback, the coach isn't the GM the owner and runny means a lot to guys it does in. "He'll he'll probably start off our number two with us. So we're looking forward to talking to him. But the first order business to get into. Mike mccarthy. He is now the former head coach for the Green Bay Packers. After losing to the Arizona Cardinals the two and nine Arizona Cardinals yesterday afternoon at lambofield damn there in the snow Mike McCarthy his Green Bay Packers being four seven and one on the season their hopes of making the playoffs. Pretty much gone was fired as the head coach for the Green Bay Packers. Now, they are those of you out there that might have a problem with it. He's a Super Bowl champion courtesy of victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in two thousand and ten his record overall one twenty five and seventy seven and thirteen years. A sixty one point eight winning percentage. He's only the second coach in the Super Bowl era to have captured the Super Bowl championship yet. Not be allowed to finish a particular season. He is coaching. I think it was a coach McCaffrey of the colts back in one thousand nine seventy two was the only individual that wasn't allowed to finish the season coaching. And that was only because ownership wanted him to bench Johnny United's after one and four star. And he refused to do. So. So that's something that resonates. We can't ignore that. But in the end, I want to say this. I'm not surprised nor do I have a problem with the dismissal of Mike McCarthy. Now more student football minds can discuss this better than me. One would argue, but I will tell you this Mike McCarthy despite his winning record they've been very very predictable pretty much since two thousand fifteen two thousand sixteen season. He's been far from innovative offensively. Primarily throughout his thirteen year tenure in Green Bay. He's been he's been play. Caller. We noted Amer Rogers was not feeling him. And the reality is is that you do get to a point where you recognize the fact that you've lost the team your voice is no longer resonating..

"To try and get the touchdown and save yourself position. Where only feel by and looked it got it here too. They atoms and they can't complete it. I mean, how would this? Jane that game. I guess we'll never know. But oh my goodness. Just missed it by just off the finger till there. They would. Try the onsite kick. They wouldn't get it. Vikings looking run out the clock. And they do that first down is all step on says goodbye to the Packers Packers probably say goodbye to the playoffs. Gray and the beard than I did few years ago. So on. Football mortality catches up to everybody. And you never wanna lose a season, especially when you feel felt great starting the season out about our prospects. But we're gonna battle the next next five weeks and put ourselves in position to to be in the conversation. Hopefully, it'll be enough. And like, I've always said you just got to get in. So we gotta win these five. See what happens? And it seems awfully unlikely. But it's not impossible. It's reporting out the twenty third time at the Super Bowl era of the Packers have a losing record through eleven games. The only one time rebounded to make the playoffs from that. But it was just two years ago. When Aaron Rodgers reeled off six straight wins to end the season that was a team that went all the way to the conference championship game losing to Atlanta. So it's a pretty simple question. The answer might not be all that simple. What is Green Bay missing? Why are they with this all time? Great quarterback. Why are they they're missing like healthy Randall Cobb? I don't know where he's disappeared to injured all the time and in a no show so to me, but you need more weapons than that. They bring in Jimmy Graham, they think they have the answer there. He's half the guy used to be to me..

"Toss to Jones running. What a start for the Packers. Now. Third down in. Baldwin touchdown blitz. Coming off the past. Dixon, perfectly laid out there by Russell Wilson. Twenty seven twenty four Seahawks over the Packers. I'm Greg Rosenthal alongside my fellow scientists Chris Wessely we're going to send it over to Dan hand this and Mark sesame and preview all the week eleven games in just a bit. But first we gotta talk about what felt to me like the first game of the end of the season. Like this was the first game where it it's a little cold there. It's two teams on the ropes. It's a really great back and forth matchup of tween too. Great quarterbacks. It was the first game of the season that felt late to me and the Packers ended up coming up really small at late in this game. Yeah. It was also a loser goes home game. And sure mathematically, the Packers aren't out of it. And you know, you can if you're a Packers fan, you can talk yourself into the run the table. I for the first time, I'm out. I agree with you McCarthy's got to go. The game management was horrendous. From the neglecting to challenge Tyler lock. It's thirty five thirty four yard completion. That ended up with the game winning touchdown to Ed Dickson. A couple of plays later to punting with four minutes left and just one time out remaining which meant Seattle could just pick up two first downs and end the game to the disconnect with his quarterback and situational football. Aaron rodgers. I have never in all my time watching football begged a quarterback to take a check down until this game. And Rogers just refused to take a check down and that situational football. I don't know how much of that is on his cock Scher Imperatore impr- improvise. I don't I can't say we're federalizing his playing style or or McCarthy's stale offense where the receivers just aren't open. I don't know. But Aaron Aaron Jones was open for check downs. He was at a couple of the late drives. It was a tough second-half for Aaron Rodgers. He said I'm the final throw. He threw into the dirt wide open receiver on third. Into that the ball kind of stuck to his hand on that play. And you would love to see McCarthy gopher. And that's why I do think McCarthy is going to get replaced the soothing. They don't make the playoffs is it's not just that they blow the time outs or you don't call the challenges. And you know, you're county on these isolation routes in these young receivers to get open on their own. It's that you don't have a feel of your own team. You don't have a feel of the game. That's in front of you the two previous drives at the Seahawks. Had they went up and down the field in through the Packers. Like, they weren't even there. They were down four starters. Total going into the game. The Packers defense lost Mike Daniels in this game. They lost Brienne laid lost another reserve safety in the game. They Kenny Clark was in and out at the end of the game. And so that's why okay we need to yards. Let's trust Aaron Rodgers. And I've made this point before on the podcast. But if you don't get the two yards, your defense that you think could get a three and out can still get a three and out and try to force them to to kick a longer field goal. So. That killed me. But it also killed me as someone who is wanting the Packers to make a run here to see their offense only score three points on five possessions in the second half. And in some of that was on Rogers. I gotta admit this is a game where he made two of the best throws you'll see all season in a few other great plays. But also like you mentioned was taken too many Saks holding onto the ball too long in a certain that's right house rooting for because I locked them up with not a good sign for any team. These days. A certain segment of Packers Twitter, and their fan base has been saying this all year that has been an issue and that we've been overrating Rogers, and maybe we have..

"If he plays we'll over the next six to seven weeks, and they move off Dominic and sue because they already have Aaron Donald but to pick for guy that's been an underachiever even Jacksonville. Gooden? Get sacks. I'd say it's a little bit of a trick. All right. Ha Clinton Dix in the Packers to the Redskins. A Redskins already have one of the great safeties in the NFL. Now, they have to Pro Bowl level safeties. He has never missed a game in his career. So right now, he's a rock solid player. He's a good, dude. He's a veteran. He makes plays. He's going to be expensive. And it is a position that's getting marginalized but in that. Vision with Carson went now, you got golden Tate now in the division Amari Cooper in the division. Odell Beckham in the division. Gotta you gotta have a guy like Paul Clinton Dixon, the back end. So that to me is a treat. Good pickup by the Redskins. All right. He just set it Amari Cooper raiders to the Cowboys. I don't understand the hand wringing. I think it to treat. He's twenty four years old. I'm seeing everybody compare all these wide receivers. I got a good, dude. Good, dude. Who's going into his prime for the next five years? He's only twenty four years old in two thousand fifteen and twenty sixteen when the raiders didn't have as much dysfunction as they have. Now it was a thousand yard season again there twenty ninth in pass offense. They were going to draft the wide receiver. He's also a guy that learns a playbook quickly. So the Cowboys have a slot receiver a running back a quarterback, a left tackle and all their defensive personnel. Amari Cooper is a tree. All right. Carlos Hyde Browns to the Jag like him. But I think it's a little bit of a trick. They've already got Leonard fournette and TJ Elden. I think this is a weird situation where you got to backs. You you went and got a third. I think he's much more valuable to me in Cleveland than Jacksonville. He's only averaging three point three yards. A carry this year. I think is best days are behind him. And I saw his first game. He had six carries and. Eleven yards. So I I didn't I like him a lot of players. I like, but I don't like him in all situation. I wouldn't have given up much Carlos Hyde. Okay. And finally, this wasn't a trade and also has nothing to do with the NFL. But you want us to bring it up. So we're going to do it trigger treat Carmelo Anthony free agent signing by the rockets this season that was a rotten apple that is a trick. Poison apple. There are an analytically driven team. He's a bad analytic player last year. They play defense finally and had great chemistry. He's never gonna chemistry guy. He's never played defense. Carlaw Carmelo Anthony to the rockets and I had lunch with their all morning. I don't really get it. I mean, I guess you're trying to keep up with the warriors, but mellow doesn't shoot threes. He is a reluctant defender any kind of at this point in his career picks the nineteen wants to play and kicked the night. He doesn't and I think that doesn't play well in locker rooms, and I thought the strength of the team last year was defense and locker rooms there one in five this year. And that's why they're engineering right now at trade for Jimmy Butler..

"Look at the Rams had their hands full on Sunday with the Packers. They prove anything to with the fact that this was an easy win. But they they ended up winning. Well, I thought the Packers look very good. I thought a lot of positive things they can take from it time of possession. They got dominated on. But you can see if they could have gotten more rush attempts. You could see they were rushing the ball with Aaron Jones. They finally gave him you can start to see kind of some of the promise that they need to build give them some balance. I would say moving forward. There are some things at the Packers can take there are more victories. And I liked the way they played after Rams are the best team that we have in the NFL. The Packers have to like the way they fared against them. And because of the the Rams, and they're in Los Angeles is a lot of stuff going on Los Angeles this weekend with the Packers basically have home field advantage in LA now to me that was very very strange. So as you move forward right now the Packers aren't in the playoffs. But if they were to go to your stadium the Packers travel, so well like that's what I take from it. Like we go on the road if they had to come back to LA. I don't think the Rams would want wanna see the Packers again. Listen, the Packers can beat anybody. It's why I thought it was so ridiculous. They were nine and a half point underdogs. But this isn't LeBron missing those two free throws against the Spurs. And it's like all right. We can take a lot of good things from it. You can overcome this loss. You only got sixteen games next week at New England two weeks later, they're at Minnesota the week after that they're at Seattle the Packers. They already had a tire early in the year Minnesota that should have been a win like the there's only so many. -tunities sixteen game season. I do believe there. Billy to run the football. And having a couple of young receivers emerge. Those things will have tremendous carryover for the Packers. If they can do Kate that style, right? They're going to be a playoff team right now outside the playoff janitor. Your point on the Rams the Rams yesterday. Their quarterback was not one of their most important players. Like girly was amazing. Aaron Donald had another two sacks their coats in this made adjustments in the second half. If you have a quarterback playing at a fringe MVP level, and he doesn't have to be the star of the show for you ever. He did them big throw. So he did make big throws when they had to move the ball. I think they were eighteen of eighteen on third down eighteen eighteen on third down. So for me that right there that was some of the best football. He played on third down. LA Rams remained undefeated at eight and oh coming up could the Saint speed sleeping giant in the NFC? That's next. This week on Thursday night football the area rivals square off Derek Carr and the raiders take on the forty Niners. It all starts at seven thirty eastern on FOX NFL network, and streaming on prime video must be nice to be Jon Gruden man. Like typically coach would get going into this game. We say man of crew don't win this game. He could be on the hot seat near one. On the hot seat and ten years back here..
