"pacer" Discussed on The NBA Show
"Hey, this is an emergency podcast and this should be because of a massive trade between the pacers and the kings, the fold details are this. The bonta sabonis is going to Sacramento with Jeremy lamb Justin holiday in a 2027 second round pick for tyrese Halliburton, buddy healed and Tristan Thompson. This is a big deal for both of these franchises considering how long the bonus has been involved in trade talks, considering how long, but he healed his wanted out of Sacramento. And to talk about it, I brought on sear it so he and then Logan Murdock from the ringer to talk about it and we recorded this live on green room, so before it got on and after her and Logan got off, I had to question from the chat, brought people on stage. We had a Q&A, talked about a whole bunch of stuff. And I want a 100% be doing more green rooms, either Tuesday night, Wednesday, Thursday morning, who knows. I'm gonna be doing more of them before the NBA trade in line at 3 p.m. eastern on Thursday. So stay tuned to my Twitter feed for that or download the Spotify green room map and that will notify you any time I go live. And some of those will be posted on the mismatch or the ringer NBA show feed. But you know, not all of them will be. So stay tuned for those, and otherwise, enjoy this conversation. I imagine this has been very much discussed, but I'm very stuck on the Thai Halliburton of it all. What has you stuck? How do you trade him? How do you trade him? This deal, I don't know, I'm excited to go through the nuances of it, I guess, but right now in the face of it, I'm looking at it and I'm like, wow, the king's traded Thai Halliburton buddy healed so they could maybe try to make a run for the 7 seed, you know? So one of the things that I asked nakai is I'm like, I don't necessarily believe this, but playing devil's advocate with myself and everybody here listening. With the kings there, we view tyrese Halliburton as 21 years old and the second year of his entire NBA career is just the beginning. And he's already so good. Fox is out last month and he's averaging 21 points and 12 assists, and he looks great. And it's just this fun player who brings life to the floor and energy. He's just a joy to watch. But right now, sabonis is better. Sabonis is the best player in the deal undeniably. Undeniably he's the best player in the deal today is a two time all star. If you're the kings, I wonder if privately they think, yeah, Halliburton is a really nice young player, but he's not going to be a top 25 guys. He's not going to be an annual all star candidate. Why not? They feel that way. Why not is my question, but is there any logic to that if Sacramento does feel that way at all? Is there any logic to that? If they feel he's going to cap out as like a nice player, a winning player, but not an all star player, and that they might say, what's everybody talking about? We got the best player in the deal. I mean, they could definitely think that, right? You know who it's the kings, right? Definitely think that. But the way that I look at it, and I kind of look at everything's player this way, or every young king's player this way is that ty Halliburton looks this good on the kings, you know? Rookies aren't really even supposed to look that good on teams that are that dysfunctional honestly. A lot of the times, you know, we know how important player development and all those things are. So I think this is a win for him, right? I feel like this is a win for Rick Carlisle. He'll get to coach ty Halliburton, who's also, by the way, just seems on all accounts. Somebody who has the right habits as well, who came into this team with ray habits and was perpetually from what I've seen so far. Early in his career, his consistently made incremental improvements improved on last year's numbers. And he's a really great playmaker. He's really intuitive player. He presents things to you that I just don't think you can get from your average young prospect. You know, just the potential that he has because of the way that he reads the game. He's already ten times smarter than a lot of it, veteran NBA players. So I don't know. I don't think that there's really way too early to put a cap on who he can be. And on the other end of it, I agree, right? I agree. But it's just like trading. They traded, I guess, the future for the present, but it just, it just doesn't really make that much sense. Yeah, I mean, I think you nailed it when you said Halliburton's made these incremental improvements as a player. And the big knock on him coming into the NBA out of Iowa state as well. He has all these great intangible qualities, but can he create his own shot off the dribble? And he's become a guy where I remember that game against the sixers about a week or so ago. And he hits these two crazy sidestep dribble jumper three pointers with a defender right over him and the fourth quarter. And he does that consistently. He's got the floater for mid range. He looks so smooth, pulling up, just a traditional pull up from two. Like I said, you get the floater. He just can't, at this moment, he's not a guy who really penetrates into the paint and draws files or really even finishes at a high level around the basket. But his handle is so much tighter. He uses hesitations. He can pull up from anywhere from different angles, different areas of the court. He just, I think Halliburton, in my own personal evaluation, he went from a guy that you feel a high level of confidence that will at least be a good role player or a very good player who impacts winning in a starting lineup. He went from that to at least for me, I felt like a guy that could potentially be one of your two or three best players. The best player on your team? No, I don't think so. I don't think the bonus is or can be that either. But Halliburton can be one of your best guys. And that's why it's just my overall thought here is just to just sabonis is good, but nikaya said it earlier. If you're a trading tyrese Halliburton, it feels like you get to be getting back a top ten to 15 guy. Like you're trading up to that level with a team that's rebuilding. And they want to blow it up and Halliburton's the young player they want back. And Indiana isn't necessarily in that situation. They're more in a retooling phase. They're changing assets. They're not rebuilding here. So I don't know, man. I just don't feel good about it. I don't feel good. I think you nailed it there about how it was, you know, sometimes you do trade the present for the future, right? It was just what they got back. And that's no disrespect to sabonis. He is like you said, he's the best player in this deal, and he's also for Fox. Gonna be a really fun pick and roll partner too. Like there's an encore thing about this. That's actually, it feels a little bit irrelevant right now, honestly. But it could also be pretty fun. We can we can get that later, but I think you nailed it just, you gotta get more back..

"It would be like putting hamburgers in front of the hamburglar or something like that. Yeah, I will say this. I would be okay with any move as long as they're not making a desperation THT trade sure. Oh, here's one more super chat came in. Vogel makes changes when things are running fine, but will not make changes when things are not running fine. What's the logic there? I understand the frustration with some of the changes that he makes. And remember what we said, anytime that it makes sense for the Lakers to do something they won't do it. We do need to finish with a master lock, though. We didn't get to that yet. And I know we're running along. But if you were to master lock any for anything from this game, what is it? Me texting you that I was going to come on the show. Oh, that's a good one. The chat has a point that they think it's you. I'm not going to be on the show Monday, so if they win, which they probably will, you know, we'll keep that right. We'll keep the wave going. I won't hop on until they lose without me on the show. Okay. Let's see. If I were to masterlock anything from this game, it would be sticking too long with the rotations that weren't working. I think they need to be a little bit quicker to change. Yeah. So all right. Appreciate everybody for joining us. Rough night, Frank Vogel will endure. He will coach against his old club, the Orlando Magic next game. We'll see if the Lakers can pick up a win. They better pick up a win in that one. They certainly need it. Until next time, everybody stay safe. They see you..

"We really need to get after it. Yeah, if you tell me that that's if you could tell the front office that if they can guarantee to the front office, if we fire Frank world rule, the Lakers will pick up X amount of wins. They probably would do it. Sure. But there's no guarantee you told me, hey, the Lakers are going to play a lot better. They're going to go on this 25 and 5 run of wins and it's after they fire frame globally and I say, then yeah, they should absolutely fire him, but there's just no guarantee that that's going to do anything. And you know there's the other side of the coin where the Lakers could perceivably be worse. Yeah. Because this upcoming schedule is very brutal. So this was the giving game tonight. Exactly. That's why that's why I was so disappointed at the top of this show because I said, this is the game they needed to win. Every game is must win for the Lakers at this point, but this is absolutely wood. I'll tell you this, Trevor, it wouldn't surprise me that if the Lakers pick up some Wednesday probably shouldn't get on this road trip. But it would just make defeats like tonight worse because instead of building all this positive momentum, it's like broken up into chunks or pieces. John, all of us said, Trevor and Matt, what's truly next after this game, the fan base has given up the franchises and turmoil that we just sink the boat. No. I don't have a pick. They don't have their pick. No, no, that's what you really like. They're not in a situation. Like there's teams right now. They could. That could sell off pieces and tank for a pick. And there's people who have seen that have been suggesting the Lakers do that. They don't have the draft pick. There's no reason for them to blow it up right now unless you've got unless you're getting a bunch of young talent that's going to fit perfect and all this, but that's not the case. So there's no just blow it up and walk away as frustrated as people are. People just want to see just burn this whole thing down and we can forget about it in fast forward to next season. That's not going to happen. No, you don't train for Russ broken, and you don't waste a year, LeBron's prime. We're not prime, but a good year of LeBron two. Blow it all up. So it's not going to happen. I think if you were looking at this in a vacuum, you probably might consider it. If they had a draft pick, but they don't. So there's really no point to throwing away the season. The Lakers are still in the plan tournament, guys right now. They're technically still in the playoffs as of right now. As of right now. Somebody said, how bad is it to be a Lakers fan right now? Step back, they won a championship 15 months ago. It's not that bad. Right? That's pretty good. Trevor, we're so much more immune to this turmoil and chaos and drama is like the norm for being a Lakers fan. And so I have been through 5 or 6 seasons of intentionally losing for high draft picks..

"It was I went shock you a jog. I've got I've got the bills and the bucks with the bills getting the win. I had bills, packers with packers. Yeah. Interesting. All right. Somebody said, are you a doctor's fan? Yes. Yes. Go daughters. Let's check out our sister site. Dodge blue. They do some great work, even have a great YouTube channel. They do. Joel embiid for Russ and AD 70 sixers are not trading Joel embiid. Especially after not to be honest. Should we see more zone defense three two or two three? Against teams that can shoot. That's where you run into problems with it. So I don't think that's something that you can do, zone is very good situation. I need to junk up a game. But pacers did that tonight to the Lakers. Yeah, I was just the guy to say that. If we're going to actually talk about the game for a little bit, I thought that sorry. Yeah, there are moments and I think the second and third quarter where they busted out his own. And I was like, oh, here we go. Here is the two or three possessions where the Lakers don't know what to do until they finally realize, oh, let's flash LeBron to the middle so that he can collapse the defense and then he can kick out the shooters properly. Yeah. But sorry, to the questions point, though, zone is good to break up the monotony of whatever coverages you're using. But then eventually teams will figure that out pretty quick. Especially at three, so you don't really see three two too often in the NBA. That's more of a college high school thing. But yeah, two three zone same thing. It'll muck up a possession and close off driving lanes, teams will settle for shots. That's what you hope for. And then eventually they'll adjust. And so that's why teams don't run into exclusively for long stretches. Lords of the sky said with AD due to be back, what would be the best game to ease him back into after Orlando, the four games after that are going to be tough. To me, it's whenever he's physically out. Whenever he's ready, I'm not worried about, oh, we need to find the right match up. Just when he's available. He needs rest. Yeah, he does. He's missed. And he needs time and press a lot of time too. He just got cleared for contact. He's going to need some time in practice. I'm anticipating it being more towards the end of the road trip than the beginning. I would too. Vector nova said at least THT was good tonight and hit his threes, played good defense, had 7 assists, also hit numerous mid range shots. I don't understand why the poll for Westbrook when THT was hot, I mean, guys have to rest at some point, but Vogel also pulled Westbrook down the stretch. So if you had just written out the rest of the game with Th1 and had been upset, somebody said, what's the Lakers record when the big three plays? They're like 7. But like a bunch of those games were with the Andre Jordan stone the.

"Like, are you sure? Because how does the Detroit front office view THT? You know what I mean? So that's something to always keep in perspective as well as just that how you value a player can be just drastically different from how someone else views them too. Good point. Good point. By the way, I do have for my next man up. I would have THT. That's my next question. I would have taken from this game. I know we're not talking awards as much tonight because other things are happening. But I think he would have been my next man up guy here. And then the annual or the daily LeBron James award goes to LeBron James. Will, nicer, said, how do you guys view the shooting versus defense tradeoff for this team? On a positive, at least we have better three point shooting than last season. At what cost? Yeah. The Lakers, the Lakers went all in for three point shooting after they couldn't shoot at all. Remember the playoffs last year, the Phoenix Suns? The suns were just going, here you go, open shots, go ahead and take them and the Lakers couldn't make anything. KCP ten feet in the page. No, it Kuzma shot like 19% from three KCP 21%. It was awful. It was awful. And so the Lakers not surprisingly said, oh, we need three point shooting. They, on purpose, sacrifice defense, not like they tried to sacrifice defense, but that was the tradeoff. But prioritize. And paleka said this, we've got a really good defensive head coach, and we think that he can turn this into something. So they just fell back on, well, Frank Vogel, here's a bunch of guys who aren't great defenders, but they can shoot. We've got a great defensive head coach. He's going to make it work. And we said at the time, that's a big ask of Frank Vogel. And that was going to be a big thing for the season. Could Vogel being a good defensive mind turned bad defenders into good defenders? Do you remember when I said this to you? I think I said this online or offline I can't remember. But I said if Frank Vogel is able to keep this roster at a top ten to 15 level defense for the rest of season, Anthony Davis would be defensive player of the year. Remember that? Because he would have to clean up a lot. And I want to bring this point up too. And I know it's not Lakers related, but it's the same situation or issue that the Utah Jazz have. Rudy Gobert covers up a lot he fixes a lot. Yeah, like go through that Utah Jazz roster and you tell me who is a lockdown three and D guy or who's capable as a perimeter defender. And I will guarante will not find that many. But you have a centerpiece, defensive centerpiece, like Rudy Gobert, and things are fine. The Lakers are missing Anthony Davis right now, and this is why I push back every single time people tell me they should trade AD because I guarantee you the Lakers will not be this poor defensive safety. That's the next super Chad says trade Russ and AD. For yeah. But here's another one. Question with some optimism. Are we overreacting since AD has literally been out for a month or second best player?.

"You know, if I was a player, if I was on the Lakers roster, right now, right? I would be so frustrated because this entire season just feels like two or three, one step forward, two or three steps back. Every single game. If the Utah Jazz win can not propel you to start some sort of run, I don't know what will. Do you know what I mean? Am I crazy for thinking that? Yeah, so does a coaching change? Spark them to suddenly get better? I don't know. If the Utah Jazz didn't do it, like because here's my thing. It's still going to be the same coaching staff, even if you take vocal out. Yeah. At the helm probably. Unless you hand you something. Yeah, or unless the Lakers are going to pull a Timberwolves and just suddenly hire someone from another team without a real interview process, right? When they had hand picked Chris French unless the Lakers are doing something like that, which to there have been literally zero reports suggesting that that's going to happen if the Lakers fire Vogel, it's the same coaching staff. It's the same voices in the locker room in the media sessions or in the practice film room stuff. Like, you know what I mean? It's the same people. So getting rid of Vogel, I mean, you're just kind of getting rid of the fall guy here. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, you're still going to have the same, well, to a degree, right? You can have, if you have a different final decision maker, they're going to change some things. Some things are going to change just because they have to. If you have, let's say fizzle takes over. He's not going to keep doing the exact same things that Frank vocal does. Because that's not going to lead to him staying. He's got to do different stuff. And then when they work, he can say, see, look, I did this. That's why I should stick around. And this worked in this way this way this way. So things are going to change, but you are right that it is still going to be a lot of the same guys. You're not changing over an entire coaching staff right now. You're not. Unless Kurt rambis and rob pelinka want to go take over the coaching duties themselves. That's the only way that's gonna happen. I don't know what the record is at the top of my head, but I just know for a fact Kurt rambis has one of the worst coaching records in NBA history is bad. Yeah. Oh, here's a Matt Peralta question. Can we? And let me save some of these other super chats. They're coming and says, can we only have Matt on the show when we win? We only see him when it's a loss. Thank you for giving us therapy after everyone. So Matt is that the problem is that we schedule you to be on the show and that the game. In fact, where the Lakers winning when you texted me to remind me that you were on the show tonight? They were winning..

"If this really is dame, Lillard, maybe you can, you know, push coming your way over here. Your way out towards LA. But in any event, what do you think about that in terms of the lineups and all of that? I mean, I think that the lineup that we're seeing right now is about maximizing the bench unit and getting a lot out of them. And so that's why we're not seeing like ariza with the second unit. Obviously it's not, it didn't work tonight. But it did last game against the Utah Jazz. So I understand why vocals stuck with it. Yeah, I mean, I think Vogel's a creature of habit, so he tries to keep things as normal or same as possible because there just hasn't been any consistency. This season, but I think with that being said, I thought I thought vocal was doing a pretty decent job in the first half because I don't know if you notice this, but he was mirroring Dwight's minutes with sabonis. Yep. So I was like, oh, that's smart. That makes sense. He's really the only pacer's real big guy right now because miles Turner is out. So why not make sure Dwight's fresh and that his minutes match whatever his bonus is on the floor. That being said, I didn't think ariza was the answer. I definitely didn't think mellow. I thought mela played way too long in the fourth. Yes. He just did. There was obviously you look at the box where you look 6 to 12. That's pretty good, 50% shooting, right? Zero 5 for three though, not great, especially when the Lakers are relying on him to hit those shots. So I get it. Mellow absolutely deserves some play in time in the fourth, I thought, because, you know, that's just the normal rotation or substitution pattern. But if you're getting consistently killed in the same actions, opening order between sabonis and the vert two man game, then you need to change something up. Melo had a couple of open threes in the fourth, where if he hit those, we're talking about him. We're talking about this differently. And he missed them. And so that's the way games can swing. People say it's a make or miss league or make or miss game. It's kind of true in that sense when you're Carmelo Anthony. It's a decent amount of your value is tied to your three point shooting. He hits those shots. We're probably talking about a very different game here. But in anybody, he didn't make them. And so now it's looking like that decision to stick with him was not the right one. Dre Johnson said, do you guys think it's a veiled type center is missed? Yes. Yeah. I mean, in terms of just a more mobile bag in Java, it's not athletic. Yeah, yes. It's not like you're switching JaVale one through 5 or anything like that..

"They needed more big wings that could do things, like rebound, like defend on the perimeter, do that sort of stuff. He was hoping Trevor ariza could do it. Stanley Johnson I think could do it at a higher level right now than ariza can, but then that begs the question when you go and you look at the game, ariza is playing 15 minutes, Stanley Johnson's playing 16 minutes, the gap between those two should be larger, which we should see a lot more Stanley Johnson admits than Trevor a recent minutes right now. I think that and I've been saying this all season, so I hate to keep repeating myself. But I think a lot of the Lakers issues are personnel based. And for the umpteenth time now, Trevor, and I've talked about this a lot, is that there is just not a lot of lateral or quickness along lateral foot speed or quickness along the perimeter for this Lakers team right now. There just isn't. And I don't want to sit here and bash Trevor ariza all night because that's still my guy. But at this point in his career, he is a step slower than most guys that he is trying to guard. And so that compromises your defense, stresses it out. You've got people scrambling and rotating all over the place. And before you know it, someone else has an open shot on the other team. I don't think it's a surprise that when Vogel goes to THT monk Reeves, Stanley Johnson and a 5th guy that the Lakers defense suddenly looks more competent is because there's not as many leaks. Guys aren't getting beat as easily. You've got guys that are able to recover a lot quicker. You're contesting shots a lot better. And then it's fueling your transition attack, which is where the Lakers are at their best. And that's another thing too. You know, a lot of these Lakers offense is based on early or semi transition opportunities. And they're just not getting a lot of those because they don't get as many stops. And that was what we said coming into the season. We looked at this roster put together. We said, this team can be really good in transition if they can get enough stops to get into transition. That was going to be the big question mark. And that was going to be kind of a tipping point and so far they haven't been able to, and that didn't allow them to transition opportunities. The pacers were scoring so much in the fourth that the Lakers weren't able to really get their offense running off of missed shots and turnovers..

"Sabotage has the ability to step out to the three point line, so that can sometimes challenge Dwight Howard, but I thought probably it was doing just fine. I thought I was doing just fine in there. And so to not go to him. And when you're down, I get the knee jerk reaction. We need points, mellows probably our best or one of our best three point shooters. Let's get him on the floor, but he was O 5 from three, and he was getting crushed offensively. He made a few decent hustle plays. I mean, it wasn't all bad from Carmelo Anthony. There were some good place for him, but I felt like defensively that the pacers were really going at him. And abusing him, especially when you've got a big ish guard like Harris levert, had no problem getting downhill and getting in one on one situations with Carmelo and then just finishing over him. And so if that's the scenario, you probably aren't going to play Carmelo Anthony for that stretch. So we'll see what winds up what winds up happening over the Frank Vogel. But I think the decision making in this game in terms of who played who didn't was certainly suspect and that was something that contributed to this loss. Yeah, no. I mean, there's no other way to put it. This is a game the Lakers should have won. Oh yeah. Like point blank, not because I think the paces are bad or whatever. I mean, I think they are bad, but the Lakers are clearly better than this. And they were for the first half. And third quarter woes. And then a complete collapse in the fourth quarter. There are ways to avoid that. I don't know Trevor. This one is just one that's pretty deflating, especially after coming off your best win of the season. Well, the way they started this game too, because the big question mark was, is this energy going to sustain itself? Are they going to continue to play and they did to start the game? They did. They played with that energy..

"And that's probably if I was looking at what needs to be fixed. That's pretty low on my list of things that need to be fixed is that the coaching situation, but that's the easiest one to do. So that's what you're going to try first. Yeah, it's unfortunate. This is across almost all sports. I feel like that head coach is always the first thing to get blamed once a team starts underperforming. And I think it's probably, I don't know, I want to say more fair, but I think this group needs a little larger this time around because the Lakers were a championship team and then every season since, they've just gotten worse and worse. And so while the 2020 team was a roster perfectly constructed for Vogel, even 2021, I thought was more than fine for him to coach. This year's roster is not optimal by any stretch. And to the super chats point, you know, you can't blame that on a vocal. But you can assign blame as far as how teams look, how compared they look in game management, who's coming in, substitution patterns, starting lineups, et cetera. That's all coaching decisions. And that's where my biggest gripe with vocal is, right? It took him what 20 almost 25 games to figure out Deandre Jordan shouldn't be playing. And then he still hasn't landed on who should start or who should play more minutes for games, right? I don't know. I think that it's unfair to blame everything on Frank, obviously, but I do think that he hasn't helped himself at all. It's not been a good season for him either, especially when you and I do need to get into some of his postgame comments that some people are talking about here. But Frank Vogel look, he's I think he's a good coach. I think that he is. Now, he's a good defensive coach. And so it takes a specific team for him to really shine for you to really see his stuff. I think that in terms of the in game decisions that he made tonight, there were some that were questionable. There were some that are interesting. And in fact, because we're going to spend plenty of time talking about Frank Vogel, I need to hit you with this..

"It's a rough one. The Lakers fall to the Indiana Pacers, the lowly pacers that a drop ten of their last 11 games one 11 to one O four before they head out onto the road trip. Sometime we see those games as trap games, but still against the Indiana Pacers, the Lakers should not be losing that game Karis levert goes Berserk in the fourth quarter couldn't miss a shot it felt like he ends up with 30 points on the night and 8 boards at the Lakers get the laws leaving a lot of questions about what's going to happen now with head coach Frank Vogel, where we go moving forward here. Joining me is Matt, the optimist Peralta optimism prime. We might need it tonight. How are you doing? Obviously not great. Losing to a team like the pacers at this point of the season really hurts. And all the goodwill that had been built up after the Utah Jazz wood is now gone, Trevor. Yeah, that's for sure. That's the way you erase this, right? The Lakers, they already burned all of their bad losses and then some in the first half of the season. So their margin for error, it's gone. It doesn't exist. So you can't lose a game like this. You can't come out here and get this result. And I felt like the Lakers came out with the energy they needed to have in the first quarter. Things look good. And as we got into the second towards the end of the second quarter, that energy waned. And then it was kind of downhill from there, especially into the third quarter. You just didn't quite feel like they had that intensity. It felt like they thought they had the game in the bag until suddenly they didn't anymore and they just couldn't quite get it back. Yeah, I don't know what happened, but it just felt like they took their foot off the gas pedal. They stopped trying nearly as hard. They came out with the first quarter really well. I thought, oh, hey, look, this is carrying over from the last game. I think, you know, all things can consider if they had up that pace up throughout all four quarters. This is probably a blow out the other way. For the Lakers. But lo and behold, Indiana fights back. They punch back a little bit. They start to get going, they see shots going down. Malcolm Brogdon in the third quarter, I thought really sparked them and then carries the root. And the fourth quarter, not having to deal with foul trouble anymore decided to make up all the points that he was supposed to score in the first three quarters in the fourth. And Lakers had no answer for it. And the lineups in the fourth quarter were very suboptimal to say the least..

"I still have a version of it all the way. Turner's not great, man. I don't like Turner at all. Do you even know I forgot and I was looking at he was out for a spell that he checked in late for defensive purposes like he's not his office. That's exactly what I said at that time. His offensive game never developed. I mean, he's leading the league, though, right? Yeah, he's a great defender. He just has no role in that. But the idea of being a stretch guy and being able to shoot threes consistently just never fully materialized. And he does have a shooter. Yeah. He's just not that guy. He likes to shoot. He's just not a shooter. He's a shot choker. Let's be honest. Yeah. That's who he is. So he steps out back there. And again, it's a respectable amount. 35% from three this year. It's not terrible. He's just not outstanding at anything offensively. And he's kind of got like clutchy rob hands sometimes too, you know? So he'd be good at another situation. I think I had him in Charlotte as a dream. The Knicks have certainly been showing interest in him as report showed today. And this team that I think would like to take a buyer on him, but nobody's knocking down Indiana indoors and take them. So then a tricky spot where, yeah, they'd rather probably start the rebuild by trading Turner and keeping sabonis. But I don't think they get off a turn. I mean, they've been trying to trade him for years. It seems like no one really wants them. So at that point, do they open their ears a little bit to making some bonus available? And going forward, that might be something that they have to consider there. And I don't know how many teams have Bond down their doors for the bone at either, honestly. There's a few Golden State could walk down that road. They're certainly got the most offer. I can think of a few others there. But I do think Boston would be kind of the front of the line in terms of the teams that he makes sense with. So again, keep an open mind for that and just how they can end up getting to a deal there within the bookmark this episode, Bobby, bookmark this episode. The pacers. The Patreon in a position where.

"And then you've gone, because they're trying to do a soft rebuild. Smart the guy who helps them and rather than a tanking team who doesn't want smart at all. That's great. You can't get some bonus, not for you. You can give up Jalen. You can't get the bonus no way. Why not? Because the pacers aren't stupid. Because Robert Williams isn't sabonis. Because the other teams aren't stupid. They're not playing. Whatever I play, that's the rest of the way. John, you had a debate with me earlier in this show that rob was by far the better player tonight and all this stuff. It was okay, so okay, okay, okay. So obviously, has the skill. And he's on the rise. Doesn't matter. There won an all star for an all star. They're not trading you for. You've said that rob has all star capabilities. And possible defensive player of the year capabilities. I mean, we can do this, Jimmy, but the reality is they're not trading for rob. Because the whole point of our conversation was, if we're even talking about rob on sabonis level, then rob's arrived. He's not on sabonis level. That's how he's not. That's why he didn't even think that. Smart. Not going to happen. It's not a one for one trade, obviously. No, it's a bunch of picks, but he could be the young guys. It's none of that. It's none of that. You could give them you could tell them, you could tell what's in a training ground for the bonus. There's no point. The point is, stop talking about some bonus unless you're going to offer Brown. That's the point. If you tell the pacers if you start the conversation with the pacers by saying, we want some bonus. You can have anybody but Jalen. What did you pick up? They just hang up. They're like, we want nothing else you have. Right now. You can offer them all of it. They want none of it. Right now. But yep the pecs, you got guys that explain better by the end of the year. You focus on some development here. Maybe you have some guys that look bad to them. But again, Bobby, this is what you're about. This is what this is what I think you're ignoring. You have the best player in the deal right now unless it's jaylen Brown. If you're Indiana. And if you've got the best player in a deal, why are you going to get rid of him when you're not going to get a comparable player of significance in return?.
"pacer" Discussed on The Garden Report | Boston Celtics Post Game Show from TD Garden
"No, they're not gonna kill right away, but when the losers start really stacking, nothing's like, well wait a minute. What happened to our pieces here? Yeah, but here's the thing. You got to remember that those two guys, when you look at where they first joined forces, every damn year since then, they have one fewer games. They have gone. They haven't been able to get nearly as deep as it applies. So they know at some point, just kind of sense. There has to be a reset. There has to be a scorched the earth, let's figure out how to get back to where we were four or 5 years ago. And that's going to require you to get rid of some folks. They totally get that. The last thing that I'm worried about is then thinking that I got to go somewhere else to go win. They know they can win here. They just don't have the pizzas around it. And listen, you've got to get rid of stuff. This year was their first start. I think that's the thing. And they're getting a tough lesson. They're getting that, they're going through the growing pain, which is good. You want that, but at the same time, you want to also keep the roster relatively competitive. You know, you don't want to start. You can do bartons. You can actually. Removing schroder from this situation doesn't hinder their winning ability. They're competitive mobility at all. It really doesn't. He didn't play it. Bobby is when you say that he's in the way of purchase development. That's a whole different conversation like that..

"I've never met all my email. Well, Brown too, but I was just going to say real quick. You know, this is your email. You've seen what's happened in the past two weeks been blowing these leads and poor execution down the stretch. You can't forget what happened in the year, obviously. And I thought Schroeder being the veteran that he is made, one of the worst mistakes in that crucial turnover. So I think this is sort of a bit of both. Most down the stress, depending on how he's playing, maybe he goes with him, but more times than not, if he's ice cold and he's not feeling and he seems honestly with all the rest of the guys, it's important for email to recognize that and say, nah, man, you're going to take a seat. Let's do it. I went away from short of there. But him doing things like calling off other guys when clearly the supposed to be certain motions there is just for what Boston China accomplished. That's just unacceptable. And they got to stop with that. I did just brutal. Yeah, I mean, he does it, you know, you see it from time to time. Tatum will do it as well, you know? Sure, it doesn't have the bomb much. So even if he does it a couple of times, it's like a big part of it. I think it's probably pretty annoying and I think some of the I think the players probably get annoyed a little bit too. It's like run what you're supposed to run when you're out there. I'm sure that's not a thing that ingratiates him with his teammates. To your point with Jalen Bobby, I do want to point out like I know you're saying like, you gotta like what you've seen. Like, I mean, we're talking about the last two games of 6 and 11 assists. But before that, it was one one four three zero with three turnovers three turnover 7 turnover 6 turnovers three turnover 6 turnovers. It was bad. Right before these last two games he went through a stretch of like 5, 5 turnovers to zero assists or one assist per game for a long time. He was actually really lose. So yes, obviously this is pointing in the right direction. And it's again, it's like playing within yourself, not forcing the issue. But he's looked like definitely more in control of these last couple games. There's been less wild Jalen. Again, the zero turnover versus what jumps to me, you know, above 15 rebounds tonight. It was like, okay, great, 'cause he had the ball in his hands and he did make some plays. And he was trying to be aggressive at times. And for him, not to turn it over, that's a big deal. Huge deal. There it is. I said something nice about Jay Leno. Biggest, we're all stunned right now. We don't even know how to react to that. We're just like, wait a minute. What the hell just happened? We're already like, John, come on, really? I mean, look, we were killing him. So he's still over his career a one to one turnover to assist guy. So it is a week. It's a very it's a weakness. The weakness of this game. Yeah, absolutely. So that's what you're trying to do. You know, and then to take on Tatum's side, we're being critical tonight, but he's been good. This was just a real dog shit game for him, you know? It's just it's consistency. It's a 20 and 21 team..

"What I thought was really interesting today. And it's hard to it's hard to go crazy negative on him because obviously without Jayson Tatum, you don't win this game, but also Jayson Tatum was terrible in this game. But he hits one big shot late and got you a bucket and overtime. So he came up in the clutch, but I mean, this was a terrible Tatum game coming on the heels of the, you know, Kendrick Perkins criticism where he got really sad and took to Twitter. And since that's not nice, and then he goes out and he plays one of his worst, most disinterested games of the year. Up until the very end where it's nice to have adjacent Tatum on your team because you're looking at the pacers. Who the effort they give the ball to and crunch time to score. Having a person like Jason Tatum is a luxury and it's a great thing. Right. It's obviously great thing to have because sometimes you just need to give it to somebody and say, get the F out of the way, but man did he have a rough night. Yeah. Normalized playing more consistently. How about that for a tweet? Worrying about what people think. Yeah. Seriously though. Seriously though. Yeah, you want to get all bent out of shape about what people getting paid to criticize or to not criticize to comment critique, whatever words you want to use. That's what they're getting paid to do, that's their job. Let them do their thing. You do your thing. Your thing is to play basketball and win games and score and play all four quarters, not just show up in the last 1.8 seconds of the game. And then honestly, great that he did. And it was a great shot and he did it. Last week, you know, and they still lost the game because of that unbelievable buzzer beater there. If I already forget who hit that shot, but yeah, he's hitting games. His name's RJ been shot. He's in charge of late. And he closed it out tonight, but again, it's like jaylen brown's turn does his thing for that portion of the game and then you know Jayson Tatum's in and does his thing for his portion again. I thought Jeannie Brown had a great game. Again, I thought he was the best player on the Celtics. And I think he's kind of been pretty pretty much that way for the last couple of weeks. I've been happy with jaylen brown's production for the most part. Now, obviously there are times in between, but I think brown's been the guy and I thought rob had a song..

"pacer" Discussed on Lakers Nation Podcast
"Already. Hello everybody. Welcome into the Lakers Nation, YouTube channel. Today we're going to do a little mock trade, negotiation here. We know like this time a year there are a ton of trade negotiations that are flying and so we're going to do is we're going to mock-up what a trade negotiation would look like today between the Lakers and the Indiana Pacers. And we've got people representing both sides of that representing. The Lakers is going to be run government right here from lakersnation.com and Kate, Smith's going to be representing the Pacers coming in from realgm. Yahoo celticsblog all over the place off track, but especially the NBA front-office show which you guys should definitely go and subscribe to over on the the YouTube channel. Make sure you guys do, subscribe right there. Turn on notifications, we birth. Down the entire league. So make sure you check out NBA front-office YouTube channel. All right. Robin you want to kick this off for us? Yeah. So you know all the reports were hearing is that the Lakers are going after that difference-making playmaker. So I would be remiss if I did not start these negotiations by going after one of the better difference-making Playmakers in the league and that's Malcolm Brogdon. A Malcolm Brogdon is a very good player looking at all of this Statistics, all his numbers, he's really great. He makes twenty one point seven million next year which is not a hefty price tag for someone of his caliber. So let's let's see. Let's kick the negotiation off here. Let's see, I probably want to get well for sure. Kyle kuzma is involved in that deal. Kyle kuzma makes about thirteen million, so that's great there. And then we'll throw in. I don't know if I want to use this card so soon will throw in the first round. Pick this year, the 22nd overall pick and then we will throw in Montrezl Harrell on a who opted-in took his deal. We're assuming that. Yeah, no interest in Harold. Doesn't have a place on on our team. It's not that he's not a good player just doesn't fit with Turner Inn sabonis. That doesn't make sense for us. Off Cruise. Interesting gives us another stretch element to the front court. So that makes some sense. We would absolutely have to have the the pick this year. Of course. On, let's see for Brogden, we would want. So kuzma has to be there for salary matching purposes. So you've got to get to a little bit more money there to send out. Let's see. Let's do Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Kuzma and think it'll work or it's gets in the ballpark and off you take on. Jeremy Lamb, but we want your pick this year and.
