"Oh, Marin Cilic in his 15 double faults. Yeah, I mean, watching his matches, I have a very similar feeling to how I feel watching Maria Sakura's matches, which is I unclench on his behalf when he falls behind in the school. And that's what happened in this match. He was serving 5 6 in the deciding set. He's loved 30 down. Reels off. A load of incredible points, consecutively, he's one four down in the tiebreak. It looks like it's all got away from him. You know, public or any boosters such as steady Eddie. You just don't see you just don't see him throwing it away. From that point and he didn't. He can totally take over. He can get a sort of look in his eye that just says nothing is going to stop him. And he's got so many weapons and he hits the ball so cleanly that there's sort of nothing an opponent can do about it. And it's the epitome of fangs when he's in that mode. But then there's the other side where he's twitching as he's about to serve and he's decelerating on his serve and his feet are doing a little jiggle just before he's about to hit a forehand and he's shanking the ball and mis hitting it and generally he's a sort of nervous wreck and he doesn't look like he has fangs at all. And you get those two experiences within minutes of each other. You know, he can go from looking like a U.S. open champion to looking like someone who isn't even going to be able to make a serve within seconds. And it just makes for such a such an extraordinary experience to watch him completely enthralling, but a little bit stressful at the same time. A little bit stressful. I mean, I got the feeling you were about to walk out. He was so better of the undulations in the match. Just couldn't be doing with it at one stage. And yet that was within the best atmosphere of the week and one of the best atmospheres of the year wasn't it? That was classic Davis Cup. Home, team, on the back foot, fighting back, which is twice a break of serve up in a deciding set. And then I got the sense to realize that they could get to him as well. And they were trying to is that how it felt? Yes, I really think so. I think Chile just showed enough vulnerability and the entire stadium sort of seized upon it. And it was spine tingling in there at times because they came up with some extraordinary shots as well. It wasn't totally Marin Cilic sort of melting down. You know, there were some forehand passing shots in particular from Pablo carreno busta, which were extraordinary and the noise in the stadium cut right through you. They had chance, they just were cheering, they were standing on their feet, and then when something happened that they didn't like, they made a very European noise, which is to whistle. I still think that would be good crowds, good atmospheres, but it won't be like this again, where the home nation was playing and yeah, it was a hell of an experience to be in that stadium. He was one four down. It looked like he had, I mean, as you said, Corona buster, I think, on the run is one of the great counter punches. And he got himself to four one. It looks like chili, it's just fallen apart. The crowd of got to him. And then he won one point to get back to four two and he got that look in his eye that you referenced. That sort of I am not going away. Look, and I am coming back. And he did. I mean, from one four down to win that tiebreak, that is an extraordinary achievement. And then he came up with a running passing shot of his own Catherine that I think is one that will take with us from 2022 into 2023. Yeah, Corona buster had made a really great little volley, very, very close to the line, Marin Cilic is on the run. It wasn't a very familiar sight somehow, like I just don't think of Marin Cilic is the running passing shot guy. He's a very good mover for his height, very, very good. Very rarely look slow or lumbering. But I still just don't think of him as the running passing shot going. There he is, banana ring this forehand around Corinna bass and not quite around the net post, but that sort of a vibe. And it's just plopping inside the line. It was wonderful. And then on match point, 6 5, he plays just, I mean, it was totally reminiscent of 2014 U.S. open Marin Cilic. Those laser like ground strokes with such conviction of on them.

This one week has shot him up and I think we saw a bit of that in his reaction. I think the best week of your life coming at a time when you don't necessarily expect it. I think is going to be quite a powerful emotion and it was brilliant to see his reaction. He leaped in the air, he was so happy and it kind of reminded me of the scenes when he won the bronze medal and always remember him saying this bronze is like gold to me and you felt that and you felt that here as well and honestly it seemed like maybe for one week only or maybe he will take a lot of confidence from this, but he grew some fangs this week, you know, I often think of Pablo Cano busta as yes, he's a brilliant competitor and he makes it very, very tough for top players to beat him, but he can be a bit of a choker. You know, you can lose matches for match point up. He can very often fail to serve out sets or he's got a really bad record in Madrid in his home tournament. He doesn't always like that pressure. And yet this week, he was just ruthless and as you said earlier, kind of a bit of a killer. There have been 30 fatalities in the last 75 years caused by wild alligators, probably about 12 to 15 alligator attacks in this ranges from alligators biting people when they're swimming to people picking up alligators and getting bitten. So that's each year. And that's not a lot. I'm not exactly sure why we think that doing this is going to make anything safer. In fact, by putting people out there with guns hunting while you've got tourists on air boats is probably the most unsafe thing you can do. Hunting season is managed by the Florida fish and wildlife conservation commission. "They were really going toe to toe each other and I think who was going to win that first set was ultimately going to have that momentum that was just going to kind of carry them through to the title. So I do think that first set was really, really pivotal to the outcome. And for serendip, as you said, I think he played the big points well and he was just very, very threatening with his forehand in particular from the back of the court. I think this is a player who has come on. Has come on leaps and bounds. They both have. I think last year, this time they were both in challenge on the challenger circuit reaching challenger finals, so I think it's great to see players go on that transition and it shows that I think players can make a name for themselves on the ATP tour having plied their trades and come up through the ranks on the challenger circuit. So it's great to see I think two finalists from that perspective, but yeah, for Sarah dolo, really, really, really great and I think both those both players will have been playing with so much confidence given how their seasons have gone and the fact that they are also, I think, knocking on the door, both of them on the top, top 30 in the rankings, but yeah, so serendip was just that little bit much better on the day and I think you also made the most of the sebi Baez second serve as well in that second set. I think Baez, we all know his kind of comparisons to Diego Schwartzman. I feel like they're getting stronger and stronger by the day Kim, but I do think his serve is a little bit there for the taking to start off on the right foot on his return games. Definitely something to improve on. And I mean, another thing from this match, which I mean, we were talking about before we start recording. Was that match point? So very slight amount of controversy on the match point. I don't know if any of our listeners will have had the chance to see it, or if you haven't, maybe just kind of Google it now and have a look. He was right behind the right behind where it took place. And you're watching the replays of it, it should have been. It should have been point to Baez based on based on what I've been told in tennis kind of growing up, playing as a junior. I don't think it would have made a difference to the outcome of the match, but I would have thought the umpire, given it's his responsibility to watch the match that would have been able to kind of clock this happening. I get that it's a completely freak thing, and I've never seen anything like this happen before, but yeah, it was just all very bizarre. And I think Kim, it just tells you, never celebrate too early, because you never know what's going to happen. I mean, it would have been embarrassing if they had made them replay that point and then it had all gone pear shaped for certain only. Fortunately, it didn't. And it would have been funny if they had the ceremony and then some guy came out and said, well, actually, you've got to go back and replay that point. The serendipity that's quite a tough, unseated player in the second round. This is in the top part of the jaw, the Novak Djokovic, less side of the draw. They came through pretty decent opponents. Monfils came through. So they'll be relatively fresh you think for potentially having another classic match because they probably play one of the one of my favorite Grand Slam matches of recent years at the U.S. back in the U.S. open back in 2019, which I think went to a 5 time it went to a 5th sorry a final set tiebreak in the 5th set, very entertaining throughout. They're just remind Marin Cilic to an extent as well. It just reminding they've been reminding people and fans this tournament that they've still got this ability, this talent in them. And for me, one face has been almost a revelation, I think this started this start of the season, but yeah, coming up against coming up against bertini, that is going to be a very, very difficult, very difficult match. I mean, very difficult match to predict, I think. Yeah, we'll have to see how Monfils handles the big serve and the big the big four hand of a teeny and potentially get him moving because I think bertini is not the greatest mover on the tennis court. We know Monfils is an excellent shot maker. So might be a question of whether Monfils can play his shots to make sure that bertini is always on the run in the rally. I mean, surely this is not a straight set match. Surely it's got to be at least four sets. But having said that, she's just proving to be just invincible and she's playing like she is playing like the world number one. So I wouldn't be I wouldn't put it against her.
