"Right get the ball out quickly and on time us more play action and if you look there is areas where clifford was elite. Last year he was very good with action adjusted. Completion percentage of seventy five percent ten and a half yards an attempt no picks one thirty passer rating when he knew where to go with the ball and got it out quickly in those intermediaries. Clifford was was damned. Good the running back room is loaded. The key is the offensive line. Getting better there wasn't a lot of push up front last season barely inside the dot fifty in line yards. And i think that number's really inflated when you look at the best runs coming from clifford creating that extra man advantage in the box so those numbers. I would kind of throw out a little bit in terms of line yards. Clifford had sixty designed runs lead. Psu rushing once you remove sack yardage in protection as he was outside the top one hundred and passing down sack raid a lot so when defenses can their ears back and get to the quarterback in these known passing situations they did the interior of the offensive line. Still unsettled had to bring in a harvard. Transfer at this point. They haven't named starting center. Let's see what happens here in fall camp but it's one of the most important position on the football field and then i mentioned john dawson very good receiver but who else is going to merge you know you have these two four star kids from twenty twenty in parker washington and k. l. s. brenton strange came on at tight end last season. When friar move got injured he showed to be pretty damn good when he was targeted quarterbacks at a one forty five passer rating so hopefully he becomes a nice security blanket for clifford there but there isn't really a sure thing passed johnson now. The other interesting barnier. Todd when i look at the schedule. Psu is gonna face five defenses. Were projecting to finish top twenty inefficiency. So it is a brutal schedule. From that standpoint for penn. State's offense. I mean the other thing too pain when you talk about penn state and their offensive line concerns their week one opponent. Probably not the team. You wanna face. When you're unsettled in the trenches. Going to camp randall in environment. And let's not ignore the fact that most of these kids last year played in venues. That were had a handful of fans. If that you're now going into hostile territory you talk about not being able to name a center to have that continuity things in my opinion for penn state and we'll get to their defense in a second could snowball quickly because not only. Do you play physical opponent week. One in wisconsin. You get two teams. That i think are going to be much better than people anticipate coming into your building in subsequent weeks ball state not going to be as physical in the trenches but hey there goodbye mac standards then you get the rare. Scc opponent coming on the road up. North i mean if things don't start well for penn state maybe the nittany lions are stared down the barrel of an owen three start in an absolute worst case scenario. That would be the worst case in our. Yes and that opening game i think is one that i'm going to watch pretty closely and i'll probably watch it multiple times because i think there's a lot of question marks about what wisconsin can be. Can penn state bounce back. I think we're going to find out a lot about those two teams in that week. One game and defensively when we look at penn state. Last year they allowed a school worst. Nearly twenty eight points per game. They gave up more than thirty plus in five games. Clearly that middle linebacking group was never settled. Mike parsons opting out defensive line. Even this year. In my estimation pain still a major concern is. There's not a lot of continuity there. They weren't able to generate pressure. What do we think we're going to see from the nittany lion. Stop unit the opposite of its offense penn. State's defense doesn't really face a gauntlet of schedule. And that's that's the positive our projectionist psu facing one offense in the top thirty this season and that teams ohio state in the replacing. Its its first round quarterback. You mentioned the big question. It is upfront. A little bit. Penn state loses a first round. Pick jason la shocking. Tony was also drafted antonio shell and transferred to florida. They were the three best. Defensive line in penn state had lesser. You get the temple. Transfer be akita is his name. I believe looks like he's the real deal. He may be softens. The blow of of oa in tony leaving. They added a duke transfer. Derek tanja leo. He's a depth guy he supposed to replace shelton. Let's say you basically have young guys that we haven't seen they're going to be required to contribute. And if penn state's going to improve defensively. It's going to be on those guys. Because i think there were some really dicey situations last year. At least defensively. That need improving. It wasn't just like sean. Clifford being a disaster Issues defense thirty or more points. In each of their first five games it would have been much worse. Had they not stopped so many four thousand temps when i deep dive into some of the important metrics. Psu is not their normal self down to down forty percent success rate a lot You know as hyped as the is on early downs. Psu torch through the seventy second defense pass efficiency and early downs. There wasn't a lot of negative plays being created pens seventieth in havoc fifty. Nine th and stuff right. That's why he only create nine takeaways. I know a lot of people look and say like and you kind of hinted at this at the top that us defense improved down the stretch only allowed seventeen points a game. The final four weeks is what i'm here but you mentioned that list of teams rutgers sparty illinois michigan average offense efficiency rank of those four teams last year's eighty fifth. Two of those teams michigan illinois started freshman quarterbacks in those games the season's lost his dot is over. There were transitioning next year right. So i mean. I've seen projections from others taught that have. Ps defense flirting with potentially being a top five unit. This season feels extremely aggressive Even with this offset schedule. I think a lot of people have bought in some of the penn state height by know what the team that we talked about off the air that felt like there are some real aggressive projections. Not just with their defense but their overall ceiling for this season. Hey maybe sean clifford me wrong. There's definitely been quarterbacks that things have clicked. I just hate the idea of now bringing in a new offensive scheme much like you mentioned at the top talking about you brought into no see that came with a good resume and kirk saroka out of minnesota. You can't after one season and you didn't have spring practice. You were interrupted with covert protocols in a variety of other things. I don't know maybe For me it's the glass half full at absolute best. But i'm not quite sure this bounceback season happy valley that a lot of people anticipate team lead. I don't think they're gonna have losing records so from that. Yes but i don't think they're reaching penn state levels or i guess we should probably say the perception of what penn state levels are known. And i'm not saying this is a team that's going to struggle to go six and six and make the music city bowl by any stretch of the imagination. But i think when you look at penn state and its pedigree people expect them to be a ten win. And if you're doing anything less than that somehow it's a disappointment. So we'll see if they can achieve some of those lofty goals team who clearly exceeded expectations. A season ago was the indiana hoosiers and a hat tip to tom..

"But was quite good about. Eighty can play steam as well so i've also played hotshot racing on it for example. But yes i am. I am working on a boot to commodore basic grow up menus and things like that nice but one of the fun things was actually modifying heat sinks and fans. I was wondering about profile case. I if you consider the commodore sixty four breath protocols in martin's by morton standards is so. I've been removing fans and putting different aftermarket fans on on mismatch components to make to make it run cool and quiet an i got there and i'm very happy with this thing so next step is to try and upgrade it with even more ridiculous components using it with an external. Gpu as well as the the chassis. So small econ accommodate a full power supplies which using a Psu so only one hundred watts. So can i use like what's on the motherboard. Yes they're going. Different necessarily when revolting charles selves as kids when we making women making technology purchasing decisions. Here we say right. So what did you buy. I something called a yoto player. Which is an audio player for. Kids designed to be used by kids. So what is little cube which connects to your wi fi and has a couple of speakers. Ran A source or whatever the fuck that game is rising trend source rising or whatever I know Jurassic Right now. The RISING WAIT PHOENIX RISING RIGHT Is that what's called, Phoenix. Transfers. Regimes Close Phoenix rising. Trying to get that to be a series obviously, right they would love to break off. With another series and I also wonder about US watchdogs you look at watchdogs I think legions a perfect idea a little bit in the future post Brexit. Both groups are evil really in a weird way. You're both sort of using people. As you know, your tools I think that's probably met as an end to mean, what else do we have for watchdogs? Feels like dare at the end for a couple of their series like I don't know let's see what chat saying because I haven't looked at it. What's funny. Just one thing with watchdogs it's really timely that you know the because it's coming out at a team. If you look back when there was announced yet brexit was a around and that was divisive for sure. But the level of divisiveness you see now with all the stress elements in the world. Really takes it up to the next level and I think that connects well with Legion is doing there. So I think it might. Get quite a bit of traction because of that. Anybody in chat I'd like to know what you guys think about all this kind of stuff I m seeing some people saying that the consumer. So do you think another franchise will take over like Prince of Persia that's a really good point Prince of Persia I. Think we can. All assume is going to be the thing, right? It's one of the attempts Prince of Persia. For them to replace it. They'll definitely want to replace assassin's creed. They're not going to want to go away from it just walk away. We don't need money. You know they're gonNA THEY'RE GONNA they're gonNA figure out a way at some point. Yeah, I wish they would stop putting them out every year. What They're not every year. I don't might still feel that way. It might feel that way that way. AC attempting to futuristic game after cyberpunk seems on brand. Will they you? I mean. I don't know I. Don't consider cyberpunk and watchdogs at all overlapping. One is like slightly augmented now on the other is. Dressing up cyborgs and you know. Getting replacement hip. Alternate. History. I right. Yeah. To me they just know there's no overlap other than time right? Do you have the time to play them except watchdogs is given free with the Shit cards from Nvidia the thirty s if you can. Trash eighties dude onto. Another thirty, if you fucking paid me all the money. Thirty eight, he's have so many problems. I'm staying away. Even my founders day had had a fucking like that card. I'm waiting until like that. You know they they get the second or third. Iteration on those the cooler, the crashes or what kind of. Every well, everything everybody's reporting. Look how many people been reporting it. It's like every single day awake there's fifty five youtube videos where somebody's like well now, we've got this issue and one of the big ones that thirty eighty sucker shit on a power whenever anything like turns on her boots. So it goes way beyond what a normal. So you look at your ps you and you're like, Oh, I've got what I need. No, you don't or those spikes because spikes like a fuck bitch it spikes three times more than any other card that's out there. It's it's ridiculous how much just crashes People's ps us all it's like you know what they see. These guys can't get their shit. Straight. It's like I'll wait until they get some of that leveled out. So they figure out what they're going to do and and go with it. Then good card when it comes to speed but even that's got issues. So it's like I'm going to wait and I'm not going to replace everything in my damn pc for it I've got I've got thirty eighty in one. And I was doing a thirty eight in the other and I returned it. Just not even not even gonNA mess. Currently at two setting where I think just might forty four this series. Right. Right. Because you got to two thousand eighteen is well right. Yeah we ain't going to be your is percent improvement in the best case. So whatever yeah. Yeah. This is the first like Ozzy saying you gotta you definitely got a fucking throw it like the thirty eight I think price. Wise. It's not bad and all that stuff but I think you gotta throw the old fucking like. PSU and have an extra two or three hundred watts above that because not only that you've got that that might suck power out but you never know if you'll buy another USB item you know so. I mean. Yeah from what? Eric saying you may need a one thousand. Well, you you don't need. Well, you don't need a one, thousand, four one, but you certainly can't run a a a Shitty PSU that you've been running your. You know fucking last June card on an expected to all work out. That would probably be Amazon right Jesus. Just make sure you get a place where you can return your shit. twit matters, right What else do we got? Never by the first wave of anything. True Yeah. Yeah. That can definitely be true right I'll stick with my twenty seventy super for now. I don't know if I'm going to wait for the forty series just because I know how many years at maybe but. I certainly will wait until a good third party comes out with a great cooler. No new thoughts on quick resume. Any thoughts from you guys on Quick Resume Ida. Quick resume such a non issue to me that I don't have any. Yeah. Nothing new there. No. No issues I have a nine seventy. So I really need the thirty eight. Nine seventy that's old card. It's a nice upgrade like I. It's a great value. Or overall, right? Yeah. The thirty eighty like it's a good value product assuming you don't run into the myriad of issues that. ASUS reveals DUAL RTX 2070 MINI graphics card at CES 2020
"Cs Twenty twenty-eight announced the G force RTC Twenty-seven mini which is someone someone who loves little tiny cases little tiny high-powered. GPU's or having more of them is always a plus Anything particularly standing out about this one one for you not really. I mean it's it's targeting that new not concepts the knock nine appro and extreme and that's kind kind of power marketed. All of their imagery for this show it like right there. In or next to the NOOK. So it's but the nice thing about it is it has those really compact unpacked dimensions that we expect from those smaller cards to fit in little enclosures. And it's we. I don't think we're talking too much about the duck nine here but that it's funny to me to see case concept actually a computer concept that has so much in common with existing products we've seen in the enthusiasts space. This looks a lot like the Dan cases enclosure at least with the way it's laid out internally where you have a small form factor power supply and and then you sort of sandwich the GPU and the motherboard up against each other to make it as small as physically possible and what Intel is of course doing with this new platform is. They're making a sort of a system on a card which which exit on one side and then your dual slot jeep coupons on the other side with the PSU down below. So I expect to see more cards like this targeting that this ACIS card is you know it's an interesting attempt at this and I think that what's great about it is for enthusiasts. It's a really nice looking compact dual fan card. So even if you don't WanNa get into that new Intel nook ecosystem. You can also get yourself a very nice looking compact GPA for other enthusiast style cases. And I'm sure we'll see versions like cases that that will be inspired by this new nook for diy like maniacs diy

"A a look at their keys or these keys in one of the cherry keyboards, which was a peculiar experience because they were keys we associate with very stylish and expensive keyboards that ran a very inexpensive looking but still fairly expensive. Keyboard from cherry, the Christopher CoCo is up for for PC per how did he feel about the low profile keys? People seem to either love them or kind of weirded out by them. He okay, he came from experience with the cherry M L keys, and he was not a fan to say, the least and he absolutely loved these in comparison. So he is issue with this key. Award. If he had one was actually the spacing of the keys, which it's kind of hard to see in the photos, but he said he was very specific about he's like, no these are twice as close together as I'm used to and he measured and he's like, yeah. It's like fifty percent, less of a gap between these keys. So we kept on when he first started using it like his first few hours with it. He was like accidentally striking other keys, but he had justed. He didn't have a problem with us into the low profile, and it's just one of those things like it's it's a very different kind of style. If used to what we would think of as a like, a modern mechanical keyboard, which are a little bit higher the keys higher the keys usually have sort of a concave like layout on the actual board. These are totally flat there flat with the surface of of the aluminum beneath the actual top layer. And this is sort of a wedge shape kind of like an apple keyboard. He actually made a couple of comparisons to apple, you know, they're they're they're wireless. Keyboards sort. Famously have a slight wedge shaped to them like a aluminum on top plastic on the bottom. That's what this is and just with deeper keys, but they're still flat sort of chiklis style. But thicker, very very slightly concave at the top. So if if you're if you like apple style keyboards, this is like a almost like a bigger mechanical version of that more than it is related directly to any currently available mechanical keyboards that you may have tried. But then you're getting that mechanical switching so he was a fan of the feel and he was actually impressed with the keyboard overall. But it's it's like so many things we talk about like you have to try it because this is like a a set design there. There are no flip out feet to change the angle it is what it is. If you have a problem with the key spacing or something, and you can't get adjusted to it. This might not be the keyboard for you. But it's it's kind of the. I in a new line of cooler master products that we've seen we have some more stuff on the way, and they have like a whole line of keyboards this year. But this was interesting to say the lease in sounds like, obviously, the the key switches themselves kind of stole the show like he he just couldn't stop raving about these new low profile, Cheri switches. So. To know. It is. I don't know. It's always occurs me. How personal keyboards can be for people. Yeah. I mean, it's how you're directly interfacing with your computer, the most, especially if you rights, you know, I for editing things you're using the mouse just as much very often. But the pay I mean, depending on what you're doing. I do a lot of light room. But I feel like I'm using the mouse and keyboard equally, but. You know, he loved it for game. He said it was great for gaming he but for typing, you will notice it's a little bit kind of smaller feeling. Always amazed by custom key caps. That are set up for gaming that make a laptop or a desktop or keyboard desktop keyboard almost impossible to use for normal. You know, typing. It don't like that. Lightning fast actuation. What's the problem? These are actual physical key covers that were deciding. Yeah. Yeah. You know, not slip off of of the the AWS keys, but they made it almost impossible reach like the cute who in the amongst other things that was always a real peculiar experience for me. The. You guys league Arbat still cranking out power supply reviews for you guys. Was the corsair. This is the SF X is that the little tiny power spy that they announced this thing. "So this is not cheap. But it really comes down to like how much how valuable is your time. And if the workload makes sense than this starts to look really attractive. I know that Steve over gamers next his conclusion kind of ended with if you can find the budget for it. He wants one of these for their work because of what it would do to speed up their rendering times, and that sort of thing. So it's just a big. You know, extreme high-performance monstrosity of a workstation processor. And I just I find this kind of stuff fascinating where some people might be like turned off by the TDP. I'm just like, wow. Two hundred fifty five watts from a CPU. That's like that's like a GP. You. Madsen the coolers. I know the cooler is really impressive. I did a news post for this last night. But I was looking at ace tech website. And that is a thick radiator. I don't think I've ever seen a bigger one outside of like, you know, vehicle, but although you know, you could probably we've gone down that road before in the past. I'm sure, you know, car radiator I used a car radiator attached to liquid. It was very stable. And if you if you you buy one with integrated electric fan, you run the electric fan of five volts off the power supply it runs slowly enough that it doesn't drive everybody in the room with you insane. Which was the big takeaway from that build. But you know, if you put several gallons of liquid at the time, I don't remember the exact wattage of the processor in question. But it was like around the core. I seven nine twenty era so hundred fifty watts is not out of the question. But the, you know turns out if you have a lot of water it's much easier to keep your CPU cool. That's that's the big thing to like forget about, you know, there's a lot of like the the fans size the size of the radiator really a lot of these closed loop all in one solutions, and I've tested quite a few of them over the last few years. That's really the thing. Like you. You don't have very much liquid a very small loop. And some of these are even smaller than others, like the the smaller foreign factor solutions that just don't have any cable link. There's the have a smaller radiator, even especially like a one twenty or even to forty. At some point you reach this the temperature to the liquid at self it can no longer be effectively cooled going through the radiator. And then you're trouble. So this this clearly has the capacity to cool. I mean, the cooler itself can handle five hundred watts. So there there's some headroom there for some over clocking if you fancy overclock in your three thousand dollar workstation processor, by the way, the three thousand dollars price tag is if you buy a thousand units. So who knows what it would be offering the public. I would assume probably a little north of several dollars. Just a few dollars more. Was that a movie? The.

"But I'm I'm with you. Dude was going to say she'd always a great segue because I could have said Buteau, it's not small. Here's of massive new king of the hill. Zeon workstation processor three. It's not spouse. It's cellar it with. Yeah. The price tag is small. It's physically a large chip. I I don't think it's quite quite as big as a thread ripper, I have not had one in my hands yet. But I I had been looking at the day one reviews posted yesterday at outlets like Gabor's next system. Steve over there published a review and going through the charts here and looking at performance with this thing, just so you know, this is a twenty eight core. So fifty six thread. Processor would the TDP to give you an idea of what kind of performance they're pushing out of this thing. It's two hundred and fifty five watts. And it it can turbo up to four point three gigahertz, and this is an unlocked processor too. So just imagine what kind of cooling solution. Well, there's actually a custom cooling solution that developed with ace attack that's available, but the performance of this thing, and I'm thinking, okay. Twenty eight watts or twenty eight cores excuse me. Well, we already have like a thirty two core thread ripper, so how can this compare? Well, we're looking at things that are, you know, more single thread optimized, and especially adobe creative suites like if you look at adobe like premiere pro CC twenty nineteen he has a benchmark year. And it's very impressive performance. We're talking about double the performance like half the rendering time compared to that threader per the twenty nine ninety w axe. So even with that price, tag even with. The, you know, just kind of ridiculous specs and everything else that goes along with this. And I'm sure the total cost Photoshop of this is not going to be low because this is only being offered currently to system integrators..

"Whether it's been out of glass or not, I know apple, you know, the well known for using their glass track that displays that are as large as their largest phone, but I I'm currently using a laptop it's an Acer. And it's it's fine. I mean, it gets decent battery. Life is just kind of one of your typical sort of thin in light also has the next one fifty graphics. But. Even though the keyboard is fine. The keyboard actually has a decent typing field construction is. Okay. Those mostly plastic. I just the track pad drives me nuts because there's like resistance to figure movement, and it's not completely accurate. And especially when I punished myself trying to edit a photo or doing any kind of cropping or anything on that image with track pad, and I'm completely missing the Mark and having to undo and start over again. So the worst thing on some of these track beds that I've used as trying to select tax. You know, how you can do like do a press the drag like select the land attacks and missing the Mark. And I'm selecting the wrong word, and I'm going to or three letters into the next word. And I just I want to throw the thing out the window. But you know, if you're at a table, I just plug in a mouse. Why is it? I know that laptop is low margin. And I know that they're looking for ways to make money. But I mean, I think this point I would take like reduced color gamut display or some kind of display mitigation to have a better track pad because I don't care is a I say, I think in a lot of cases there is a lot of display mitigation because some of especially the less expensive, laptops. There are some real dogs in terms of of color, fidelity on the screens. I mean, some really painful stuff, but the, you know, I think in some cases, it's an afterthought or they it's it's just someplace where they can cut money. I I just want to make sure my issue with the my issue with the mate book thirteen track pad one it felt a little cheap. You know, which is not a big deal. I've also been using a lot of flagship, laptops, while you may be bias. To a more luxurious feel my biggest thing was in day to day. Use UC was fine. But with gaming, you had to be really particular about hammering, you know, very very far out to the left or right side of the track pads which game on. So maybe the the the issue is me not using a mouse for gaming trying to use a track pad. It did feel cheap. But I'm it was accurate. I didn't have trouble editing. I didn't have trouble, you know, dealing with with, you know, basic functionality on the track pad, but it was not the most luxurious feeling track pad. It's is it felt a little, you know, when you press on something, and you're like, well, that's certainly a thing. This is not the jury thinking is this like a leather covered track pad. Maybe that's maybe that could be a thing. Forget glass. Just go to like Carinthian leather fine grim inland from yoga. Now. You know, it's it's it's interesting. You know, I think for most people something like the basic mate book pro that has the doesn't have the three bites you monitor the better choice. I like it's also tough because something I didn't do experiment with with running sorta Tena. It's. How'd you grasp the AmEx? One fifty you know is barely GP by concerns, discreet GP by current standards. But it's one of the only parts you could fit and something this small and actually have the thing function and not lighter lap on fire. So I, you know, I it was cool to be able to play, you know, rocket league on something that's small that f-, you know, fit in my backpack without causing spinal damage, so I'll just leave it at that..

"Oh, there's that track pad again, if you're watching the video ability to expand storage, it'd be nice speakers are mounted underneath they've got some bad most running they had some very big feet on which face the notebook look much fatter than it actually is. But I also think it helps the audio dispersion and cooling. Well, if it's on a desk. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. On a pillow on your laugh expects. Audio performance when it's down firing like that. No. I know I'll be honest with you without firing speakers period. Don't expect great audio performance. There was definitely audio. It was not milking. Gang. As your sound. Sometimes those alter books have very I had a ThinkPad yoga the first generation not very good audio. I mean, the kind of like went out the back and bounce off the bottom of the. Yeah. But it was I would say somewhere south of one watt perhaps half lot. It was not allowed. It was like a pair during up a pair of headphones. Yeah. That's always awkward when the the the sound is teeny tiny and facing away from you and trying to get through the laptop. They is interesting. The closest competitor to this is really the primary competitor. This would be the razor blades. Stealth the version with screechy pee on that one. Same MS? One fifty is sixteen hundred dollars again, just under three pounds. I think the stealth is a half inch wider than the mate book. But it only has ten eighty p screen which means you're getting about ten percent higher performance on games. It also has upgradeable storage at a significantly like twenty five percent larger battery, and of course, the fantastic courts pink option, which I'm really actually kind of in love with, you know, just how people well people used to like freak out because I. Had a pink. You know, lifeproof iphone cover. So, you know, I'm imagining me rolling into the coffee shop with my fantastic pink gaming laptop and watching people just bug out. But you know, it was it's an interesting product. And it's interesting to read of the other reviews on it because people either super fast about it or superman about it. I'm kind of excited, you know. And again, you know, you're looking at like medium settings on on, you know, I if you're a video game, right? You're you're looking at sort of medium settings medium light settings with rocket league fortnight's going to be playable. But you're going to have to turn the settings down the medium. Absolutely. You know, you're not playing either of those games with with the until six twenty graphics or the, you know, the the onboard graphics on whiskey. Laker not going to do three gaming period. And this one's interesting 'cause that Twenty-one by sixty fourteen forty screen packs. Fifty percent more pixels than ten eighty p screen. So. So that's a lot of work for an new one fifty. That's roughly the equivalent of GT x ten thirty which is not you may remember, particularly powerful GP you, but, you know, eighty kind of demanding three d video games, something it's beyond fortnight, something that's beyond rocket leaks. Something it's super graphics heady. You're probably going to be turning the settings down the low. But then again, you're option is probably to get like a big fat five pound gaming laptop or to not do your video gaming when you travel. So it's it's something to think about, you know, I I I I want more memory options. I want the drive to be expandable. I oh. And I forgot one thing of the other one other thing that drove me nuts. Two USB ports and a headphone Jack or two USB ports and a headphone Jack. No thunderbolt three which doesn't really bother me. But the left USB USB Jack does power and data transfer the right USB see Jack does display link and data transfer which means..

"House fairly. It's like to me the the big through the big three things with any notebook. And I know performance matters. But how does the display look talks about that? What about the track pad and keyboard, a really liked the keyboard, not as good as little Novo? But then again, almost nothing is certainly competitive with a lot of the stuff we've seen from Dell and HP fairly solid like good key travel. Good feel track pad was my favorite. It's a little odd. Because it's it's a slightly different color of the rest of the lab. Up top it felt a little cheap. It felt a little plastic. I'm also a little nervous about kind of, you know, once you get past like, well, no and Dell and HP I've I've I've had some truly mixed results with track pad survival. But the keyboard felt excellent. The track felt good as you can see, you know, with non taxing games. You could definitely get your three gaming on. Biggest challenge should be wasn't the keyboard. Again. I wasn't a big fan of the track. Pad was usable. It wasn't great. And it seemed to be seem to have to shove really really far out to the right or left to to get the left or right. Click out of the track pad battery life was kind of atrocious. Now, a lot of ultra portables a lot of smaller, laptops. You know, you're not getting a twenty five hour battery life out of the twelve hours a battery life. It's rated for like nine point six hours of you know, just doing straight. We're playing that flakes kind of experience. I would put that. Between seven and eight hours. If you were getting aggressive doing a lot of computing or playing video games, it's going to drop quickly, you games, some pretty tax on the whole operation. I feel like they could have gone a little bit bigger. Forty one hour battery inside of their the stealth is going to give you like twenty five percent more battery life because it's got a much bigger battery. You know, the. Yeah. For me the battery life was a bit of a challenge long track pad. The other thing is is you're they they don't have a lot of options on this is basically two models. There's the core I five version chorus of inversion with screen graphics. They both come with end, the hard drives. But they're five hundred twelve gigabyte view me hard drives and their soldered to the motherboard. So who having? Emory soldered to the board extremely common in all tra- books because there's so little Z inside of those having the the drive soldered to the motherboard means you are done, and that you know, that kind of you know, I would have liked to have seen sixteen gigabyte options. I would have liked to have seen one terabyte or larger options. I I know obviously because I work with a lot of video I'm a little more or like to carry around by entire music library. I'm a little more sensitive to having a a large capacity drive. You know? And there's a reason why I have so many sandisk ultra-fit drives in my life because hey, look kids. It's two hundred fifty six gigabytes right there or well in this case, one hundred twenty eight the other ones to fifty six, but you know, that's there's not upgrade ability on this. They kept a really simple with the skews, there's too, but you know, the that that I was a little of like, okay, Kika bites is great. I'm glad they're not operated because my my least favorite thing would laptops right now is. Seeing like, oh, we have a seven hundred dollar model. Well, it's got four gigabytes of ram which makes it really crappy to use on a day to day basis. So, you know, I think for the vast majority of people buy laptops, eight gigabytes is more than enough. But again view old you expand storage..

"And you know in case you're wondering if you're not familiar with it back as does a report fairly regularly on the kind of the state of the drives and their collection. They use more towards the consumer side on drives many cases, rather than the enterprise class stuff. They have a hundred four thousand seven hundred seventy eight drives in their data. Center. You know, this is not their most extensive study the the red star notes, quote, the firm listed just four brands, and it's a state with models ranging from older ones with three terabytes capacity to Newark, twelve terabyte drives and some fourteen terabyte drives from to Sheba, and it's really crazy. Right. Thirty one thousand one hundred forty six twelve terabytes Seagate discs another thirteen hundred while twelve hundred and seventy eight twelve terabytes h g s. That's well Sarabhai HDFC, Dr one failure out of almost thirteen hundred drives. Yeah. In seventy one thousand Dr days. Very very low. There was a tasha the five terabyte Toshiba. Let's see sixteen thousand three hundred thirty five drive days. Forty-five drives very small sample size but zero failures so far. Yeah. I mean, it's pretty crazy. When you start looking at this the four terabyte s Seagate S T four hundred d m zero zero zero now that failure. You know, they were all the way up there at two point one three percent annual lives failure rate in five hundred eighty one drives fail, but that's five hundred eighty one out of twenty three thousand two hundred thirty six that's nine million nine hundred sixty one one hundred fifty four Dr days, they just they have massive amounts of data on drives that just always kind of fascinates people. Look at. And. Good to see. Yeah. I've ever seen this report where there was a drive that had just zero failures. It is a very small twelve terabyte at just one failure. That's crazy. Yeah. That's. That's amazing. Yeah. I could stare here. Go on and read specs for a long time. But technically what you have to talk on the podcast the Ideo heads up if you're gonna curious a how the higher capacity drives doing. I think the answer would be quite well, thank you very much. It's I got to pick up we shot a couple of SOS before Shannon went to New Zealand for a Lennox conference. Which is where she is right now. And the while we made book thirteen arrived literally as she was leaving. So we wanted to get that in close to the release date. And so the while we may put pro- has a pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty excited reviews last year pretty poor pretty stoked about it. You know, this one is a similar kind of performance laptop going to the experts thirteen Apple's macbook air, and also I would definitely poke it up against razors blade, stealth. And you know, this is I want to say a two point eight two pounds of sub three pound laptop with. Discreet, AmEx one fifty graphics. And I want to note that it's the twenty five watt TDP version of that Amax one fifty enough the ten watt version of the ten watt being notorious for having miserable performance, you know, the corres- seven eighty five sixty five you along with that AmEx? One fifty I was kind of fascinated by this. They also do a core. I five version at skips. The discreet, NVIDIA graphics and saves you a little bit of money three by two surface book styles. So twenty one sixty fourteen forty which gives it a considerably higher pixel count, then the razor blades, stealth, which will be important a minute. I gotta say I actually do really like I mean, I prefer to have a big wide thirty eight inch ultra desktop monitor. Like, I have on my desk, it is incredibly impractical at a laptop especially thirteen point three it's laptop, but I will say three by two, you know, I'm always questioned for wider laptops, on my desktop. But that three by two perspective is actually incredibly useful. If you are. Always if you want to read more before scrolling, if you wanna see larger block a tax tax whether emailing or docks if you are looking to have more rose rather than columns exposed on your spreadsheet, it's incredibly useful..

"A really good time to buy used card but other than that, they're doing pretty good, financially and. The big thing. They had revenue was up. But last year, they had, you know, revenue five and a quarter billion dollars, and they lost thirty three million dollars this year revenue was up six and a half, and they made for thirty seven million dollars. So it's a huge turnaround from year to year to go from negative to three hundred plus million dollars profit. So it's been a good year. Very very good year for them. And we haven't even seen the radio on seven yet. Bob swan this actually just popped up a few hours ago. Bob swan Roberts wanna say Mr. swan is probably what I should say is been named the permanency yo over at Intel. He's been the interim CEO for the last I guess seven months, he was the CFO over it until since two thousand sixteen he's now when elected to the company's board of directors, so. I thought it was interesting that the stock kind of slid, and I don't know if that is because they wanted, you know, some kind of super awesome tech genius. You know, engineering kind of person. But this is a is a financial guy. He's been writing the ship. He's been kind of, you know, holding steady after Brian Chrysantus left suddenly for what has been called a consensual relationship with an employee which was in gross violation of Intel's. I guess internal rules not that I know them, particularly well, but you know, apparently, apparently Mr. swan is decided that he really, you know, he really loves Intel. He's always love doing the financial stuff, but he he really loves Intel and this makes him Intel's seventh CEO in the fifty years the company's been running so. Yeah. I don't think it. It's never that exciting. When the person who's been sort of running things takes over fulltime, perhaps started slotted on this news. Like what were they expecting the the rumors about Lisa's sue from AMD coming over? I guess maybe some people took that seriously. I think she's happy where she is. But yeah, I think the last time people got excited about an interim CEO or losing the interim title was someone named Steve Jobs. And if you years people are like. Uh-huh. Kinda knew that was coming though. Just a little bit. We should probably take a moment, which probably take a moment to thank one of our sponsors before that do what are you kind of a recap a summary of the radio on seven. Rumors has started bubbling up on on Twitter this week. Sure. And this is that same..

"Ten point nine billion dollars. You know, MAC wearables, home accessories, grew like nine and thirty nine percent of one hand on the MAC and wearables, I think thirty three percent at home and accessories. Ipad revenue grew seventeen percent. So I guess there are making something in the neighborhood of nineteen point seven billion dollars after iphone sales went down fifteen percent. So they're doing they're doing. Okay. They're doing okay. Maybe sales. Go ahead. Go ahead. Say maybe iphone sales are not as high as they have been. But they've got a lot of other products. They've got obviously ipad they've got the apple watch. They have apple music, which probably fits into that services category. So. Nothing to worry about their and they have just a little bit of money in the Bank to a switch like well over two hundred billion dollars in the Bank. But yeah. That's still a cash cash. Yeah. Well, that was also I mean, everybody everybody thought that Nintendo was going to be in trouble before the switch came out. And there was a lot of articles or like they've got enough money to cover their current costs for forty six years. So presumably. They would be able to hold on not holding on. So Foxconn was going to build this ten billion dollar plant in Wisconsin. Thirteen thousand workers huge manufacturing facility and things have changed. Reuters did a big article on this. It's more like a thousand workers, maybe by twenty twenty not thirteen thousand it's going to be research and design engineering manufacturing. There's not a lot of discussion on the four billion dollars in tax breaks that were promised by the state of Wisconsin. And and you know, I let me point this out. I find you know, stadiums holding cities hostage to keep the teams in town kind of abysmal. So, you know, I I love the fact that the Wisconsin budget products budget project, he was constant budget project. Did the math it said it would take twenty five years to recoup that four billion dollars in tax breaks. Now is with the thirteen thousand jobs and the full manufacturing facilities meetings. Coming though, we know the Foxconn missed out on nine point five million dollars in tax breaks in two thousand eighteen because. The only hired one hundred seventy eight people rather than targeted two hundred sixty now whether that's because of all the changes in what they're planning on doing in Wisconsin. Or if that's because, you know, everybody knew it was going to be the coldest winter ever in history in Wisconsin or just cold us as hell, and if you're suffering through that right now, please stay warm friend of mine who's not join they're going to twenty-seven in in Minnesota. But you know, it's it's interesting to see, you know, how these plans change, you know, it's also because Vauxhall is also talking about building iphones in India. Which would also amongst other things I think help them get around trade tariffs. And also the running out of seems to be the running out of labor pool in China. Which is just a mind boggling thing to consider. Meanwhile, Intel's getting a billion dollars from Israel. They're expanding to plant. They're they're gonna add another thousand employees. There's already thirteen thousand employees at their existing plant in Israel quotes last month. Intel said it had begun plans for site expansion projects in Ireland Israel and that its US plant in Oregon starting in twenty. Nineteen. So they're also looking to kind of diversify things in and of course, as we've come to expect make lots of noises about you know, automated cars and other twenty first twenty second century technologies. But it's also interesting that that, you know, Invidia owned up to the fact that TPS sales last year may have been influenced. You know, we talked about this earlier, but. A little bit a smidge by the bitcoin craze crypto currency because they flat out like, no, no, no, no, no, no. As are all natural sales. A lot of people running premier and a lot of gamers this year, but they adjusted their expectations AMD head cut their Q on outlook quote a bit lower graphic processor demands, so inventory and the end of the blockchain boom or the issues, and there's a lot of inventory. They built a lot of cards for as long as everybody was buying every car, they could manufacturer. And I think they were still building as many cards as they could when people stopped buying the cards, and then started throwing the cards up on EBay and Craigslist. So if you if you're brave enough to buy used card, it's kidding me..

The the there's been we don't get deep into the business here, except that it's important to pay attention to in businesses are having good times or bad times because that can cause for example, you know, Intel as I think rapidly changing its pricing and working lot more on desktop processors because AMD came out of nowhere in dropped in incredibly competitive product. And all of a sudden named started carrying about power users. Again, we've heard a lot of noise about s- flagship sells our flagship phone sales being down that apple was was way down in terms of of their sales bring that up because talking about the first quarter results, and their earnings per share is like four dollars and eighteen cents which is the highest it's ever been and kind of the big takeaway, the the thing that kinda stuck with me was, you know, hey, you know, sales are down on iphones fifteen percent year over year, but quote total. "You guys didn't article talking about check reports system build upgrades, and I just want to say, it's a great time to be a PC gamer the long ten eighty p monitors remain the standard. And they just it's Wetering standard. Yeah. And the the Ikano box gamer, I think was the one that that Jeremy called out there. They're six hundred dollar build which is powered by a horizon, five twenty six hundred. And it's it's got eight gigabytes of DDR four thirty two hundred memory, which is coming down. So always nice to see ram prices come back down to earth. And you know, you have an Rx five seventy discrete graphics solution in. There you go a little bit higher with the graphics. If you've got the budget for it. Go get like five eighty with more memory. But you know, this even has and the wonderful thing to me about this is that we are in the aero where any Connell box gaming system can have an SST and not just got just like a sixty four one twenty eight thrown in there for the OS, boo. We're talking about a five hundred gigabyte SSD as under seventy dollars. So right. Yeah. And the, you know, the at six hundred twenty four dollars, you know, you're talking about again eight gigabytes of ram which is more than enough for most games rising five twenty six hunt, which is really sweet part for the money. And then in our x five seventy one hundred forty nine dollars, and it's gonna you know, I'm really curious to see what Invidia drops at that that end of the price the price range. You know, I feel I feel you know, feels like, you know, it may be, you know, a twenty fifty it may be a ten sixty six it may be a sixteen hundred whatever crazy numbering scheme is the flavor of the week in the ruber mill. But this is just a fantastic time to be building a system and say, I'm with you the economy box just building that with the onboard graphics and just waiting for that next round of GPS to hit from Invidia and AMD, you know, if you're Jasper it for new gaming machine that is a fantastic. Way to roll. I'm excited. You know? And that's even before the rise in three thousand part show up at the high end. I was I was thinking about that. Because you know, I was I was talking to a friend a couple of weeks ago. And and you know, they were kind of like, well, you know, that single core performance on Intel. And I'm like, yeah. But I bring I'm thinking about rendering at a machine at the office using handbrake versus rendering at home because they have so many more cores on the the rising eighteen hundred ax. You know, it decreases the render time by almost wanna say, I'm rendering one hundred fifty percent faster. And these were similarly priced parts, you know, about your part year and a half part. So it's I understand Intel king of single core performance. There's some of the new processor are amazing with the rise van. They're all over PC, purse leader, poor thoroughly protec- report. It's really impressive. When you start realizing somebody that, you know, two years ago, we were like, yeah. Yeah. They make processors for consoles. And laptops that nobody wants to buy and it's it's.
