"What Pascal Siakam can do shocked the hell out of me can he do that by himself now being the sole center of attention I know he S. Kyle Lowry you have been fleet these guys can hit some big shots but what I was coming off the bench all the is the rest of the roster ready for prime time with the raptors I think eventually they would they would run out of ammunition well they have a short rotation not that's that's the tricky part I wouldn't be surprised to be honest just because a continuity it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Toronto raptors win the Eastern Conference finals at all but do they have enough of those bodies outside of the top five we're gonna start let's talk to Dan and Milwaukee was probably gonna yell at me then you on CBS sports radio the J. R. sport pre show what do you think and Jack come on man you got to give us a lot man I can't believe you're golden lebron first of all I got the clippers in the box M. O. R. to clean it up and there's no doubt about it and we show that last year we got we got shut down by the right I want to play that game but that's the only thing that's going to say it will broaden the series if they get that far no no no no why wouldn't then we're not talking about lebron well you said the worst I mean did the rest to lose four consecutive games so the so the the the raptors last year the rest do that and I get a call I was Dan yeah but you sure you settle abroad you're saying that we weren't even in the limelight I'll tell you this where was the prime minister in warm winters the Lakers they wanted in there then you making stuff up who said anything about a line like that that's not even a word that came out of my mouth you did your set up before the break last time reset limelight no no limelight yeah mom I don't like yeah limelight spotlight nobody said anything about them the boy that listen the bucs were at the top of the Eastern Conference there's no denying that but there's a big difference between regular season and postseason there is a difference when you look at the experience level of the Milwaukee Bucks when you want to go ahead and even look at the Toronto raptors let alone go ahead and look at one of the teams in the west it doesn't matter what LA team you want to look at so I appreciate your appreciation of your hometown Milwaukee Bucks I can see how you can love them how you can like on and you can think about their potential I can look at their potential and say yes they can win a title but that's looking at them in a silo that's not looking at the teams that they would have to be in its current level all whole lot would have to go right for the Bucks to win that's not to say that they can't but a whole lot would have to go right I don't necessarily see it happening John from Sacramento your CBS sports radio the J. R. sport brief show J. R. how year you'll include night my friend I'm good what's on your minds on well I really want to talk about Sacramento Kings and kind of what I want to talk about is the quickness of the young teams are going to do and elderly teams that might make a been sitting on the ice box for a little while and I think you're in fox's the faxes hand you're gonna want me it's keen politically and people may very well be extremely surprised about the Sacramento Kings team it just wants to run maybe some of the kids want to learn we want to learn fast I don't know anybody else who takes about that J. R. it's about when you think about that I think Houston might be another team they want to do all the three years and run fast but I think that might be the best thing that may happen John I I hate to tell you Kelly nobody's thinking about the Sacramento Kings I'm sorry I'm not did did they they're too young I mean at the same time I mean they don't even know what they got they got a buddy Hield they don't even start buddy Hield they don't know if they want Bogdanovich sure he'll just but they have no idea what they're doing sure school actually buried her room will use a strategy ramp near the fence is posting I was very large and modern it mobile batteries even gonna start playing him but if he does he we shall see yes it's going to be a fun tournament is what I'm thinking they are all right well I I hope it's fun for you John I appreciate your call not from sac town if they go ahead and when I need you to call me back okay call me if they get in the house call me we are back in that's how we roll you know the greatest and just what we sell to Europe where okay Michael J. R. no doubt about it thank you John from Sacramento I mean you can be a fan you can also be a realist I'm more of a realist just try to call it like I see in the Sacramento Kings doing what's all men not spoke about the Sacramento Kings in comparison the depth I don't remember why somebody talked about the depth that the Milwaukee Bucks sad and and I I don't know if I brought up the kings were they brought up the kings.

"Issue find out three forty five years the return of Steph curry was much anticipated by a sell out crowd at the chase center in curry gave the fans their money's worth the twenty seven minutes and fourteen seconds of playing time starting in the back court curry finished with twenty three point seven assists he hit three long distance three point shots shot only six of sixteen but help keep the warriors in the game as they put on a good show lost to the defending champion Toronto raptors one twenty one to one thirteen Norman Powell leading Toronto with thirty seven points and the raptors with some key defensive pressure down the stretch their superstar Pascal Siakam with seventeen and Kyle Lowry with twenty six but afterwards we had a chance to talk to curry and asked him if he was anxious coming into this game were nervous at all I was more anxious than anything just because Sunday on those plans get my mind ready for that they're going to Santa Cruz and kind of just watching the clock waiting for tonight to show us more aces as anything just to get back out there I got right to it the thing I did in the first three minutes ago church in Atlanta my hand got back up so that was a good feeling you know I have a confidence is being able to take the hit this is definitely weird everything seemed to be going pretty fast as you can see the light you know that game intensity and speed yeah but the warriors are happy to have Steph curry back and even though they lost this game it's gonna be a lot more fun down the stretch over the last nineteen games again the final Steph curry does score twenty three but the raptors beat the warriors here at the chase center one twenty one to one thirteen personally go and KCBS save.

"Have to be the most inventive team in the league. They have to be because they saw. It wasn't good enough and in the middle of the season they just said I Russell B our center and he's been super efficient and they've been good as well. Yep Thirty nine twenty one six straight how about? They invented a way for them to win themselves. The title though there it is okay so getting back to what you were doing in the last segment where you were making Theocracy win a title this year to prove himself to you got to win one. Okay I understand but this is what just happened. Okay I want you to understand that you who doesn't care about being consistent at all and I understand that you want to do this with just titles but if winning is indeed the measurement that your going to use to measure these people Siaka is presently having a season that Kyrie Irving has never had as a number one like this is the we have only seen kyrie irving do nothing lose and foul up the Celtics as a number one so using your measurement of winning is the only thing matter. Siachen is presently having a season. Kyrie Irving has never had kyrie irving is a career loser. When he's a number one right well he was a number one on some really bad cavalier team. He was Oh talent around. Was the number one on a good Boston team. So good boy any nuked and they went to the Eastern Conference Finals. Without Kyrie Irving. So that's fair Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum and those guys with guys that took them to that. Isa Guard pilots. A fair point this holy fair windhorst says okay. Windhorst is answering the question. I'm asking him how much better is Kyrie? Irving is a player then Siachen and his response is that it is a simple question with a complicated answer. Siachen plays at both ends and can defend multiple positions. He's much more valuable than Kyrie in that way. He's also low maintenance in the locker room not an offensive superstar. Kyri as a spectacular offensive talent. Who can win you games? But his fragile and also poor on Defense. Neither one is the number one most teams would love to have either. So it's not as much of a difference as it would appear to not be as much of a difference as you think it's reputation it's winning a championship if you ask Lebron Right now. It's just a purely hypothetical world. Just hey you could have. Crm OR KYRI. Irving one hundred percent healthy for the playoff run. Who Do you think he choose? Probably Kyri right. We're also looking at it right now. Or Kyrie's stock on the heels of the boss and stuff and him being hurt yet again and no one. Generally liking his attitude is stock is pretty much kinda like at an all time. Whoa whereas you look back when he was number two winning a championship Siachen for as good as he was. I'd say lowery was probably number two in that NBA finals series despite not really ever being a good playoff player before that. So who's a better number two on the championship team easily? Kyrie Irving because he was the number two and he made the biggest shot or one of the biggest shots in NBA history again. Put this on the poll. More annoying phrase having said that or I will say this because Jeff Van Gundy loves I will say this instead of just saying it and we just heard you said that so. I don't need you to tell me that You're you have said it. I think it's listen. Thanks Mike biggest verbal CROTCH is. Listen I will say this because I don't WanNa hear you say that basically. I want to hear what you have to say. I don't Care Okay. Very good so you don't. WanNa talk to anybody is you're you don't want anyone to say anything. I want. Anybody talking came very very good. Weird Industry Joe's. You're actually a very active listener as someone who doesn't want anyone talking to you. There is no one who's listening more to the things happening on this show than you are. That's true I wanted to ask you guys this question because I don't know whether I know what I'm married to okay. I'm aware I stopped getting disappointed by students. I've lowered my expectations to a place where I just don't expect much from him. I've noticed that I mean okay. And so Crashing so there are opportunities that Stu gods has in his life as their every eighteen months. There are opportunities. That's authorized has in his life and usually requires an investment. Stu Gods wanted to talk about this on Friday. We had we went to the heat. Game had a great time with the Jimmy V. Winners who paid way too much money to hang out with us. But STU gods nuked my ability before the game to take these people to Pat Riley and Micky arison because of what? I'm about to tell you and it's okay. We did it at halftime. But STU GODS NUKED IT. I tried to make plans was to God's I'm like happy hour five o'clock on Friday and then we'll go to the heat game so I'm happy hour. Five o'clock Friday six o'clock comes around and like I'm on the golf course. Be there shortly. You did say closer to five thirty at one point. I did but you came closer to seven thirty. You arrive arrived in the area now. One of the things do God's his lived here so long that he doesn't know he's still doesn't know the difference between Miami Beach and downtown like he was lost. He thought I thought he was. He thought he was staying near well. This is what he said. I don't know what it is and. Espn was nice enough to put me up in a hotel because we were doing the Jimmy V. Night. Okay and I'm telling you I had no idea until I actually started driving to the hotel that the hotel was a downtown brickell right near the arena and no I couldn't get there from from the links to that hotel and then back to Dan for a nice little dinner before the heat game. I couldn't get there and back in time to time it out correctly because I have no idea how to navigate around the city. I don't okay. You've lived around here a long time. But how what level of Mad am? I allowed to be that a meeting that stugatz requested to discuss his life. He stood me up for two and a half hours and nuked our ability before the game to introduce the winners to these These important people. It should be nine on a ten scale considering. Gps on his. Were you waiting at the place for him? I mean I was there with my wife so it was fine but yes he. The only reason we were there was to to have this conversation with two. God I would say Ted of ten but I mean this is amazing. What's happened with Dan? Seventeen years in shrugged. Valerie asked me. She's like aren't you mad? I'm like it's it's the reason I chose not chosen Tequila because this is interesting because I was wondering Valerie had said that to you if he asked. Aren't you mad? I was wondering if she's asking. Where is it? It's weird to make a meeting with somebody and then you don't show up for two and a half hours? That's not normal. Human behavior is if it was a meeting at. Why was your wife? There was an important business meeting because I don't trust the Guy Achillo important catch..

"Welcomed the banking reimagined capital one. What's in your Wallet Approval Required Capital One? Na member Dan it's time for straight talk. It is brought to you by straight talk wireless. Well here is my straight talk and it is a threat to the monopoly. That will came. Thinks he has on the truth but this is my true in the last segment. I forgot about Kyrie. Irving being Lebron James's teammate. And then I started forming the argument on behalf of Siachen because I had forgotten. It is something that we in the media the biggest of the gas bags do all the time we call it the COWHERD. I I I call it the Stephen a Smith the first take actually will be the wilpon too. It's really be patient zero with Chris. Carter Kevin Johnson and his top mind then just doubling down. Remember that defending into the death. It was great it was okay so I did forget. And then I started formulating the argument on behalf of SIAKA CC. So he doesn't Catch Abo- He wore number Bo when he played so I put out a call to a meal. Hassen and Brian Windhorst to see who they would say Be who they would say is better between Siaka and Kyrie Irving So come on here with US Amino Hassle. The first one to join US explain to me. What is the answer to the question? Who is the better player? Or WHO's who's going to have the better career. I don't even know what how Danby Right. How can I be right? It's a little career obviously from the skill level sampling. He's one of the best ever in terms of the things that he can do with the basketball on the court. There are many players in the game that rival his especially inconsiderate. He's not really excessively athletic. Were really big. He's just a fairly normal side they will to compete here and be great at it and he's got a track record of doing it for a while. Multiple All Star game multiple also obviously champion with with Cleveland. In Two thousand sixteen having said that as gal even with a shorter resume His growth in three years is pretty much unprecedented. I don't think we've ever seen a player improve like that as quickly And he's got the size. Obviously Anthony the far better defensive player asking me. Who's had the career victory without about? Drafting right now rather have on my team. I think I'd go pascal him. Because he's more well-founded also I know he doesn't. I don't have to deal with any of the shenanigans that you have to do. I actually when I was asking you. Who's GonNa have the better career which gets hard to answer given Kyrie's body yeah? The injury Obviously factors inside. That makes it a lot tougher And obviously he plays Kevin Durant so that makes life a little easier for him as opposed to see them. Who is the best player on his team? But I guess you could say like this. When Cari was the best player on his team. How good that team look? Good this well. That's that's thank you. I appreciate you always being available to us for your expertise. Here's how I do. Kyri has one title as at two dreadful as one. Crm has won titles two slash three. Because Kyle Larry was there so Siaka needs to win one as brine and then your your measurement is always. Yes your paint you thank you. He says if anyone was throwing flowers on the state was. And that's all I care about because you were just hitting the note you always hit. Which is I just can't rings. All I do is different counting of rings I mean what else is it accounts So I mean thank you for being with us. I appreciate it but Windhorst is busy right now. He said it's a simple question with a complicated answer. Oh but he can't. He can't come to the phone right now because he's busy so If we can't get windhorst were never going to get names. We're still going after. Nance Mike does not believe that Jim. Nance knows who we are. You might know. You might be <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> saying what everybody <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> knows that the bucks <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> are the best team <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> in the league. They <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> are properly rated <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> and yet <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> I still <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> don't think we're giving them <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> their due. <Speech_Female> Our Chris Herring <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> has a piece at five <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> thirty eight where he points <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> out that Milwaukee's allowing <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> just <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> one hundred two points <Speech_Music_Female> per one hundred <Speech_Music_Female> possessions <Speech_Female> which not only <Speech_Female> makes them the best defense <Speech_Female> in the NBA <Speech_Female> by a long shot. <Speech_Female> That's more than eight points <Speech_Female> lower than the league <Speech_Female> average <Speech_Female> but also makes them the <Speech_Female> best defense in <Speech_Female> more than ten <Speech_Music_Female> years <Speech_Female> and the eighth best <Speech_Female> in NBA history. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> What's even more fascinating. <Speech_Female> Is <Speech_Female> that as Chris writes in <Speech_Female> his story. <Speech_Female> They're doing it in an unconventional <Speech_Music_Female> fashion. <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> You could <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> say they're bucking the <Speech_Music_Female> trend. They <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> are playing fast. <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> They're allowing <Speech_Female> teams to take a ton of <Speech_Female> three pointers <Speech_Female> and they're giving up more drives <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> to the RIM per one <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> hundred possessions than any <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> other team. <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> Which <Speech_Music_Female> would seem to be bad <Speech_Music_Female> per the current <Speech_Music_Female> conventional wisdom <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> except <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> they're <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> often allowing <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> bad shooters <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> to take those threes <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> and they're holding <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> teams to just under <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> sixty percent inside <Speech_Female> of three feet which <Speech_Female> is the lowest mark <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> in the NBA. <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> So <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> basically <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> they've outsmarted <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> smart basketball. <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> Now <Speech_Female> it's an open <Speech_Female> question as to whether <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> this will work in <Speech_Female> the playoffs. "Tim It's one thing to be the best player on a very good team. It's quite another to do what quite Leonard Has. Now done twice right which is be that guy on a team that wins the NBA finals. Do you pass. Has that in? It remains to be seen. I mean look I think saying anybody has it in them to be one of the five or ten best players in the world is probably a stretch right but pascal out proven time and again that anybody who's doubted his ability to take a leap beyond what they expect as wrong right so at this point. I think it's just a matter of waiting and seeing what he can do but I think you saw this week when the raptors hosted the box on Tuesday and they saw Yanna synthetic coop all the guy who Leonard Untold Within Eastern Conference finals and bested. You saw the areas where pass cow and the raptors need to grow if they want to be a team that has a chance to get back to the finals this year and potentially defend their title in that game. The box who are team that don't let people get to the Rim and they force you into shots you don't want to take and basically force you down the perimeter just bomb away because they're so big and long and athletic they don't like you get anywhere. Pascal basically didn't make a shot inside the three point line until garbage time at the end of the game to help defender. Any blocks out swarm checked the box. Really were able to take him out of the things that make him successful getting out in transition attacking the rim being able to kind of get to his spots in half court all the stuff that he has spent a lot of time working on and he's gotten a lot better at and it's allowed him to take the leap cities made for him to be a player that can go toe to toe with a guy like Jaanus like collided last year. He asked to be able to do those things against the very best teams in the very biggest moments and look. This was a Tuesday in February. It doesn't mean that the raptors season is over but the flaws that people were worried about with them and with 'em in terms of being that elite level team in that elite level player. They were exposed a little bit on Tuesday and those are the questions that both he and the Raptors are. GonNa have to answer whether it's this year and the years to come that are going to determine whether Pascal can actually be that top five top ten type player and whether the raptors could truly be the Champion Guitar. They were last year. Pascal undeniably I think replaced a lot of Leonard's production but then that sort of leads us to well what about his production right? I mean you're kind of creating new holes potential gaps in this team. Do they have the manpower to fill out the rest of the starting roster? Well that's the other thing that's curious about this team now. Toronto would would push back in any criticism of the way their season's gone or or the the amount of firepower they have and say listen. We haven't had our top eight guys healthy for one game this season so let us wait until we have our guys. We look like and I think the question about this team going into the playoffs is are they going to be able to score enough to compete with teams like Milwaukee and Boston and Miami and Philly in a seven game playoff series and again against the bucks? You saw that where. Toronto's defense really did a great job slowing down. Milwaukee's offense bull mixed up with SIAKA. Toronto's loaded up to keep them out of the is it from the side and the ground reacts but when they get to the other end of the court wants Toronto stop making threes. All of a sudden their offense just fell apart and they weren't able to really do anything in the half court in terms of attacking Milwaukee's defending baskets Davis Tips. The same teams misses it from three-point territory and he ended up on his backside in three ball. Rebound dugout if you go back and watch the playoffs. Last year. We saw Kawhi Leonard Time and again. Just get to a spot in the mid range and score or get to the RIM and score whenever Toronto needed baskets. He was the guy who stepped up and made those place if you had to pick one of those other raptors to sort of be the x factor in a playoffs. Who WOULD IT BE? I think it's probably oh Dan. Obi If you own and OBI walked into a locker room walk onto a court you go back. I is a basketball player like he. He's just built like a brick wall and you see him do stuff on court occasionally where you're just like man. This guy has a potential to be a really special player. Even in that game on Tuesday he went toe toe with the honest honest which off five fourteen from the feel. It's not like they're putting up a ton of numbers. He ended up with nineteen points. Nineteen rebounds and eight assists because he's probably the best player on the planet and he can have huge numbers even if he's not shooting the ball but a big reason why he was not able to have the kind of normal production you had offensively was because Oh Jan. Nobody was leaning up against him and really giving him a lot of trouble. If the raptors are going to really take that step. I think that the most realistic outcome is at. Og becomes that player behind Pascal. That Pascal was behind Kawai last year. And if that can happen if you're Toronto you'd have to feel really good about your chances to be an elite level team for really the next few years so the bucks are obviously the big dog in the conference but to get to the point where they're playing the bucks. They're going to have to go through the Boston Miami Philadelphia. How do the raptors matchup with that second level of teams in the East Toronto? Certainly right in the mix with those teams Meena and I think if you ask them they feel confident about not only that but beating Milwaukee in a playoff series but the series that I want to see happen personally is Toronto to play Boston in the second round of the Eastern Conference. Plows right now. That's slated to happen. They're basically neck and neck fight for the two seed if the seeds hold after the first round those teams that play in the second round and I think that would have a chance from a basketball perspective to be one of the best series the entire playoffs because both of those teams have a lot of range. You wing players. They can play big they can play small. That can do a lot of different things they have a lot of high Q. Guys and it would just be fascinating basketball match up to see how that would play out and frankly and might just come down to which of these two teams has home court last year. We saw Toronto only get out of the second round basically because they had game seven against Philli and they were able to hang on for dear life in that final game and have Kawhi Leonard. Hit the shot that bounced around the Rim seven thousand times four fell and allow them to advance. I think they have a chance to get back to the conference finals. I do think they can beat any of these teams but it might be the games that happened over the next six weeks that determine whether they are Boston gets that to cede that ends up being the real determining factor that decides which of those teams ends up advancing to probably play Milwaukee in the Eastern Conference finals in. May Tim regardless of how this season plays out for Toronto if they make it back to the finals. It's undeniably a success right given expectations. Do you think there's anything the rest of the League can take from not just this team but this organization because they seem to have found a formula for long term success even despite facing adversity injuries losing stars. They're still in the mix. Yeah I think there's two really big things that the raptors have shown me and I think should show anybody who's paying attention around the league. The first is the importance of player development. You look around the league. There are a lot of teams end up with a lot of young players. That just don't really pan out and being able to find the right guys and plug them into your system and see them get better. There's just no more important skill in that. And you you go down the line with Toronto. They signed an undrafted rookie and terrence Davis. He's now playing significant rotation minutes. Oj and always gotten better every year. We've obviously talked a lot about Pasqua. Fred Van Lee is a guy went for being undrafted to a guy who helped him win the title. Last year norm Powell was a second round pick that is developed into a core piece for them. They've gone and found guys in unconventional ways over and over and over again and I think that there's so many teams around the league that ended up with one lottery. Pick after another. That never win. You can have all the young talent and all the shots at good young players in the world if you can't develop them into good NBA players. You're never gonNA have a chance to win. And that goes into the second part. Which is the infrastructure part? The thing that is really impressive about Toronto. When you're around them is just how put together. This organization is from the top down from side Jerry President Baseball Operations Bobbi webster the GM to Nick Nurse the head coach the raptors just have their stuff together. And it's kind of like being around the spurs when the Spurs were kind of at the peak of their powers. Tim Duncan and monitoring Tony Parker. It didn't really matter who the spurs played right on a given night. You knew the Spurs. We're GONNA come out and give you an effort every night and no matter who was sitting or who is available. Disperse they're gonNA play like the Spurs and most of the time they're going to win and this Toronto team all they've done is come back and overcome all these injuries and develop their young players and continue to win and once again put themselves in a position to make a deep run in the blouse so to me. They've really established themselves as one of the model organizations in the League and put themselves in a position where kind of regardless of what this happens this season. They have young talent going forward. They have cap space. They have designs on trying to chase star players. Twenty twenty one whether it's Janas or other guys and as long as this infrastructure is in place the raptors should feel confident that they're going to be a factor in the east for a long time..

"One thing. I find so interesting about Pascal. Tim Is like Joel Embiid. And who's also from Cameroon? He has been playing basketball for very long having spent time around him and watching him develop as a player. Do you think that factors that all into how quickly he's advanced? No question about it and thing when you talk to people about Pascal they all take the same thing. Which is this guy came to basketball so late? He didn't have to learn relearn any bad habits. You didn't have to get taught to do anything in a way to re correct stuff that he learned when he was eight nine ten years old and did for a decade right and I think that that really to me is the big reason why Pascal is. Be Able to take these dramatic leaps forward. It's almost like neo in the matrix or like the plug them into the machine. And all of a sudden he's just kind of Bratislava downloading. Everything could possibly get his hands on and for Pascal. That's the way his games developer. He just comes back every summer. And he's added some peace to his game and taken yet another leap forward and progress again just far beyond anything. Toronto in its wildest dreams could hope for when they taught him in the draft. What would you say was the moment this season where Siachen really established himself as you know not just the most improved player but an actual MVP candidate and it was really in that stretch in basically the month of November? We Kyle. Lowry was hurt. The Pascal kept his team afloat and rolling at the top of the east where people said. Wow like Pascal is doing stuff that he's not supposed to be able to be doing pascal and and he's playing at a level that he is not supposed to be able to be playing Scott while Don and because of that the raptors a really good. Come backing in fading. Yeah you can't stop them. Hey man my. Vp was able to consistently come out and produce at a level that some of the best players in the League or playing at averaging twenty five plus points five plus five plus rebounds every single night making three pointers making place out of the pick and roll setting up other guys playing defense a high level still the fact that he could put all that stuff together for a consistent period of time. I think really said to the League. Wow this guy has taken yet another leap and because of that. Toronto has a chance to be a lot better team than we thought coming up. Why Toronto's playoff success may lie in the hands of a player named Pascal.

"I'm not a big whiteside guy. I feel like a lot of the Times. He he puts up numbers. But does it actually affect winning I think that's kind of the story at least for me on whiteside and you know. They're taking a gamble on it. They're hoping that Dame kinda bring him back up and you know the time when they made those moves they thought they were gonNA. They're creating waiting time for Collins and you know unfortunately now he's out with shoulder surgery at he's GonNa he's GonNa be out for a few weeks and that's really damaging and you're right Hark list at Amino or are really solid pieces. That really helped them last year. Not just being switchable but able to play small and able to go to the four position. Now they brought in guys like base more at hood who are good wing players. But they can't really drop to the four there they don't have that size and that's really where they're getting killed right now. And that's that's that's GonNa be the the issue going forward so I know it's a little bit weird that I'm saying the foreign eighteen a bit of a mirage but I just think we've seen this from the blazes before where we see the star slow and then get going And work their way into the playoffs. So I think you know it I trust dame to build up on that every time it just had a phenomenal start to the season young kids twenty years old coming off the bench. I think that kind of allows them to look at a few to get a little more Glory days to trade talks able to kind of explore a little more. What's out there? Because they have a guy like sides who can either be a huge trade peace but would would you. I don't think they'll trade but he's somebody that's going to get interest or allow them to move somebody else that allow him to slide into that role so they're in a good spot to add stuff to the team down the road so I am not ready to give up just yet. No I'm not either in fact I'M GONNA I'm glass half full on the blazers or even maybe a little bit more than than half full Simmons ever decides who you mentioned has been. I don't know if he's been every good as as the hype that they've been putting out because the blazers put out an awful lot of optimistic about this kid before the season but he is he's really talented. He's another dynamic piece for them. Granted a little bit redundant because he's back court guy but yes asked to your point. Maybe they move him maybe move. Cj and Simon's becomes dame's new running mate. I Trust Terry Stotts. I Trust Damon. Cj as the core of this team. And and I trust the long-term overall culture of this team to withstand whatever else goes on including withstanding whiteside one interesting theory on whiteside. I heard from somebody somebody not just that. He's a stopgap until nurk gets healthy but also that he's a big salary number and he's an expiring so you get them now because if you WanNa make a move later let's say Simon says the Guy Enzymes the guy that you want to use as a big trade piece for some team that really needs a great dynamic young guard but you can't match salary because because he's on a rookie deal well white sides. Big Contract number allows you to now. Make that deal so I think that's something definitely keep an eye on that you know. The trailblazers are too smart about culture and chemistry to just throw whiteside into the mix in with all of the the the risk associated there unless there was a a bigger thought thought in mind and not just the stopgap to get back but as I say maybe he's the The the key to making a big deal before the deadline so it makes sense. You know I completely agree. I think that makes a lot of sense you know. And it's one of those situations where it's like. Look if we're going to give him. It's almost try it. We're going to give him a run here for a couple of months. Let's see how it goes worst-case scenario we'll we'll trade it for some assets and again like you said that big contract contract you can attach a guy like science to bring back a big peace possibly depending what the what's out there on the trademark it so you know it's it's worth doing it and it's worth exploring four and so I actually think it's very possible that something that's doable. I need another guy who deserves credit. This deal I mean he's always managed to find the pieces to build around this team. You know he pulled Merkich out from Denver and you know they. They went on a big run when they got him. You know he's always Kinda found the few pieces here and there during the season. That's he's always able to add to this team to help them with that runs. So you know on top of that with coach. Stotts who I think's very underrated. I think he's really one of the top coaches the I think they got kind of a good core. They're just on the same page of the front office and coaches I and you can you know it'll it'll be interesting to see what happens. But as they get closer to the trade deadline. Let me ask you for one. We'll move to the Carmelo piece of this a second. But let me ask you one thing about whiteside just to circle back a phrase phrase you use and we hear it around the league a lot and I want to hear your definition for when we say guy puts up numbers but he doesn't contribute to winning and sometimes it doesn't jive the fans. Look we'll wait. Hold on if a guy's going putting up like twenty five and ten or whatever like how three blocks how is that not contributing to winning. How how is that? Sometimes the numbers can deceive. So you've got a net positive. Yeah it's it's a little bit tougher fast order seeing it. I get it to like you. See these numbers and you're like well. He's scored twenty points. That seems to the help towards winning You know a lot of the Times. It's just sort of these are points they come and meaningless situations. Were you know. It's already a blow out or you know he's he's not doing what his role you know a lot of times. He'll chase blocks and when he goes to chase a block he's leaving open his man who ends up getting either a pass or getting the offensive. It's a rebound if if whiteside doesn't get the block and that turns into two points for a Lotta Times where he's getting these what he's getting on the offensive and he's also giving up a lot on the defensive end so a Lotta Times he's never sorta just even out and it just doesn't at the end of the day just doesn't really contribute to win it he doesn't you know the big thing too. And but this is what really shocked me about the number. You whiteside of the first places you know. He doesn't make contact on screens. When he sets a screed he often slips or he just never really hits his guy? Hi and that's huge for dame. Cj Who are huge picket role guys. And that's where they miss America because America's great screen center. He really puts his body audie on the defender when these guys are coming off threes and that opens up opportunities for Damon. Cj and that's something that whiteside just hasn't been able to do and this goes back even his Miami days you now. I used to just make the joke with my friends. The next time whiteside you know. Connect with the defender. You know on a on a screen. That's going to be the first time he's done it. This game that I feel feel like we see this on a regular basis with them. And that's kind of the big problem for for the Portland Trailblazers heavy pick and roll team. That is a great explanation. So thank you thank you for that five real life heroes. Five all star Athletes Watch brand new episodes of be real every Monday starting in November eighteen only reporter. That's the end of the morning dragon. "Let's start by talking a little more about Siachen. And I'm gonna show you just some more of what his magic was last night because it was the most improved player in the league this season. He was the best player on the court and his first ever NBA finals game. And he showed you the whole repertoire this, third quarter actually here. He's spending any scoring given the raptors a ten point lead three for three in that quarter. He really dominated the third, which is usually Golden State's time. He personally was five for five in the third. He was a lot of raptors fan say this last night. And I've seen it the whole year when he doesn't settle for just shooting threes, and he attacks rim, that's when he's at his best, and I look, Draymond got into it with champion poppy. I thought I would never say this. I need to see more fight from drape mind, I need to see a little bit more take this personally again. There was some place that could have gone either way. But I think I need drain on to be a lot more aggressive dot com, fourteen of seven. Eighteen thirty two points in the wind is big on basketball and every night, go out there. I have a bigger purpose and playing for something bigger than news basketball. And, and I think that's what makes it special that every night on out there on the matter resort the motto how many points scored in I'm playing for something bigger than myself. I've heard a lot of people or him say some things this year, and they keep saying, are you surprised and he keeps saying no this is what I have always envisioned for myself. So I think that's a powerful statement. He makes his well he, he believes in himself and he went to work at it. You know, he's he's become a guy. So, you know, you're going to. He put a lot of work in good. They're I respect that. But like I said, I gotta take him out of this series, and that's on me.

I don't remember. Why was? I don't know. But it was what was when was that. That was certainly before he got coach of the year. That was not that that was may maybe. Oh, no. I don't remember what I was doing. I remember it was shocking. I don't remember what I was going. You are shocked even with the way the season ended. Yeah. With the way, we see the end I didn't think like was gonna make. I mean, I knew it was gonna change. But I didn't know I just wasn't sure may eleventh may eleven. You as you say that, you know, there will be some change. Yeah. I was going to be some change. But I didn't know like what like I didn't. I didn't expect. And maybe I mean, the coaching change. You know, he's always the first thing we look at when when does change in the team changed the coach he's a coach and everything, but I just didn't because you know, I'm just knowing like knowing what he's done here and the things like the way they develop I mean, obviously with tomorrow, and Kyle and the work that they've been doing, and I just didn't I was in see that like did you reach out to him. Or did the same thing with the Mari like, wait, wait, I didn't reach out. That's what I'm saying. Like for me. It was all always like, especially if I don't know exactly what our relationship is. Like like, I don't like to be like, right? Yeah. Like, unless it's like, my brother or something like, you know, what I'm saying? Like, I know how to approach him the other landmark playoff. I sorry to make you go through these painful memories. I thought it was my man, but these this this is Toronto playoff history. The LeBron shot in game three in Cleveland. Right. Tough. You were you were running with him the floor. And then you went you stuck with Kevin love. I. I mean that shot. So I don't know what you remember about. Remember? Remember that was the one where it all. But for me, I remember that I play out Addy noise Accu was it. I wanted to double team him like right away kind of went. But it was I I didn't want to this double team like just me w him. Like if I didn't have got guy. I didn't get the order to double team doesn't want to go out of my way and do it. And then then you're saying something happened in my mind. I mean, Kevin love a shot. And it was like, okay. So I'm trying to go. But then I'm coming back. And then once he's up the floor. I mean, it's not as it's harder to retain because you know, you can just he's such a great passer. But then actually learned that that shot he actually practiced shot. Yeah. Yeah. So which is like. Now, the locker room after that after that is that is that it. Tough tough day. That's all I can say subjects three of the. Last one. And then I'll let you go. You've played the Sixers Jimmy Butler played the Celtics had a couple of games. Interesting games against the Celtics, the bucks you played. I think twice already but one game. Choline janas. Both. Is there an Indiana's right there to Indiana, the five of you are are right there is there is there a team you kinda watch more than the others. Is there a team? You're more curious about than the others is like a potential playoff matchup. I'm not saying better worse who do you hear the most? But is there one of those teams you're like, I kinda wanna see how that develops think? All like, you say all the things you name like. The level. Is there that know they have you know, stars and things like that. I mean, obviously Celtics, and I mean, we walk his plain incredible and Yanni's has been on another level. So like all those Hanes to be honest with you. And I kind of watched them all of them. I mean, obviously, watch probably watch a little bit more. 'cause I watch Joel. And the, you know, just say his development, and he is a basement, I E mail even a jump a significant jump I think from last year and this year, there's a credible. And I was my fellow countrymen. But I think I mean, I played with James harden, Chris Pau, and and you know, all the same team. I think once I was Kevin during too, but. For me. I mean Rico is always make the teams and he makes he makes the teams. Oh, I mean, maybe between them they probably like, oh, okay. We wanted us and this happened, but so hardened Paul candy. I mean Vicks. victims. Audible, Paul George. I the list goes on a lot of players who's the most annoying guy to guard in the NBA for you, who's Lee. Yeah. Who's the guy? You see you're like, oh, this is going to be this is gonna be a long. Yeah. Knowing night. I mean, it was like it was always like kind of like LeBron too. But like, I think for me the hardest. Toughest, katie. Just because like I mean, LeBron is strong. Like, you know, what I'm saying? Like, he can always get his way to the right? But you know, like, but if he doesn't make shots like it's a little easier gone him. You know, like I want to say easy. But like you can like do you can do much to bother him. Yeah. But like character, and is just I don't know like as length you can shoot over you. He's I mean these skilled like you can you can put up how much Stephen is with can pull up from thirty. So as I definitely tough. It's a tough how much was he talking when he put up fifty fifty one. What did you put up your against you guys whenever you whenever he almost single ended talking? It wasn't talking. I didn't hear him talk. I didn't hear I didn't hear I didn't hear him him. talk. They say you talk from the bench. I've been especially when so say, we're Nikolai has a mismatch in the post scales on what do you say that was that was my favorite thing was for 'cause Damara was like my favorite by far. 'cause I mean, it was always on the bench. And and and every time he had a miss my baby playing like they're like he's going to he's going to favorite thing to do. That was my favorite thing to do. I think I mean, it's kind of like now I'm on the floor. We call I kinda high but lash hours of the bench and do more. I it was it was a fun as being guarded by a baby literally literally. And but it's kind of like was like every time. I tell you about him no matter how much trash Utah from the bench. You are not talking to a bunch of Jamaal Magloire. Does he? Jamaa is he's probably the best. Like, he's a funny guy ever say like, I don't know. Maybe after Rico the funniest dude I've been around because he he doesn't stop. No, it's constant. It's like it. "And always on my vision in are always. 'cause I know usually usually what I'm more. I'm playing I don't count my defendant. Interesting. Yeah. Like, I don't I don't count my defendant. Because I I know most of the time I'm like be fun of him. Like, I'm kind of item. I'm a bit him like most of the time. So like, I'm thinking about what the other people are going to do and. Most of the time they don't help. 'cause you know, when we have like know really good shooters on the floor is like I have the lane. So I can do I can I haven't I can do whatever. But then when they help like I'm always looking at that. And I'm thinking somebody's open. So we're we're in this weird period. Where Kyle has missed a bunch of games in a row your offenses. You're not you're personally, but the team's offense is something a little bit. Eventually that will change come back. We need. Yeah. Turns out Kyle. Although you've want I think you're five and three. That Orlando what the hell happened in Orlando. Too much time in Florida probably like people had families there much time. Maybe maybe Florida Florida's nice weather and all that I'm going to. Yeah. Is is. I mean. Yeah. It was one of those games. I mean, you get like at least like maybe like three or five games a year. So it was one of them. But when Kyle comes back and you'll have the ball little bit less. You'll still have it a lot. But we've got another high usage ballroom guy there. So you know, and you've talked about this. You know in the playoffs. People are going to people are going to help way off the people are going to let you if you're behind the three point line guys are going to be in the pain. That's gonna people are waiting. I think there's a lot of people in the league where like PASCAL great season. Really good player. I want to see what happens him in the playoffs because they're going to treat him like a non shooter shooting thirty three percent from three. Now, you're letting them fly. Like, are you are you are you ready for that? Or you know, it's coming. I'm ready for that. I'm more than ready for that. Because to me, I think even now like it's not like people don't give me spades. Like. The things like for me. Like, I'm kind of like learning how to use that you know, like and watching the guy like I mean, obviously Janas is like a frequent nature just like in terms of like, you know, his length and things is able to do. But like the way he he uses the space that people give him like, you know, like a runway. Yeah. Like people don't guard him like that. But like he's still gets it around. I think that's incredible. And it's something that I've been watching and trying to learn from and just like how to navigate through that. But then at the same time like, you know, like. I'm confident as the shooter like a work on my game. And I know I can make shots like, and that's my mindset and from the corner, obviously, you know, always I'm always going to let it fly and just picking my spies home from the wing and things like that. But I was when I got space is even better than me. And I always get him. I may. I made plays for shooting. Eventually worked very hard on your shoes. It's been well publicized. You've some. I I want it fried chicken play it for everybody. That's pretty that's pretty good. I want I wanted like he saying karaoke once on I wanted something good. You know, or I don't I don't think he's saying. I mean, the laugh is an all time NBA, the laugh is awesome. It's amazing. Like, I watched that. Sometimes just when I'm chilling. When Serge makes fun of him. Will he just ignore it? Or will he engage in the mile at least will have it. I don't know. I don't know picture him. Like, I think that would be a gamble making fun of grab. I think they have like that will lure relationship going on. You know, I think they call like they think he Sarah can afford searches. Then I thought the ice cooking show is kind of it is all that. I was on that it was it was interesting cook. But it's pretty five at the Mandela. Then when he did the cricket when you made the cricket smoothies. I wasn't going to do that for who is actually good. Cricket is like that's not. That's not really in bars out of that is not bad. What do you remember from the locker room after game one of the Cleveland series last year where you guys miss all the tip ins at the buzzer. What is the locker room like after like, I got punch like that to someone say something about what what do you remember from that post game? I don't think anyone said anything. I mean, it was just like we just felt like you know, that's the game. Like, you know like that's the game. We should have one and. And obviously, you feel like I could have changed everything, and you know, the momentum and all that. But you know, it was just tough for us to like swallow their like, you know, like that..

He did for me like sending me the same school like just because as a kid I was alive. I was the last shot, right? Like, I'm the, you know, my mom gave me to do everything. My brothers do everything for me. I couldn't make my own bed. I couldn't wash the dishes. I couldn't do anything. I was just sitting there and everybody just does everything. And I'm just playing around like I'm running around. It doesn't sound bad doesn't sound bad at all. But for a grownup limi- now thinking about it going to seminary school helped me just because I was on my own like I had to do everything on my own any prepare me for going to college on my own my brother who's going around and now being NBA. I mean, I was my brother here, but just just like leave it on my own and knowing what to do so doubt. But I don't think I will do that just because I kind of want my my kid I. Like just to do whatever he wants to do. And like I mean, I'm I'm a support him and guide him. But, but then, you know, I don't wanna like force anything winter. So so lucrative Mahmoud day.
