I am going to go and i had a list the other day on the show of seventeen quarterbacks who could be hat or who could be on the move and out of all of those if i have to pick one. I'm going to go jimmy garoppolo. I believe san francisco's in a position. Right now where they have a really good thing going and they want to replace jimi g. since he's been injury prone i think you can get jimmy g. for cheaper than he's been whether he's caught you could sign up for cheaper free agent deal. He may want to go back to new england. Maybe bella jack doesn't want him but ryan pace eastern illinois guy also Fellow good-looking guy. Just like with trubisky could veer that way as well. So i'm going jimmy g. And as a close second maybe gruden gets rid of derek carr and the bears would trade for garrett car but those are my two if you force me to pick one. Mahomes to have surgery to fix turf toe

"Were talking about Patrick Mahomes undergoing surgery turf toe. And we started talking about this about three hours ago, and we were just going around the room going. Do we know exactly what a turf toe is? Because it gets it gets thrown around a lot and remember when dealing Sanders was with us at the Super Bowl when he took off his sock, and he showed us that toe That was turf toe that never healed whether he had surgery on it or nod Jack Lambert, the Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker, I think had turf toe and it stayed with him the rest of his career, so we thought You know what? Let's bring in somebody who knows what they're talking about. A former NFL offensive lineman won a Super Bowl with Washington a Harvard trained orthopedic doctor, mark addicts and good to have you back on here, Doc. So Do you want us to tell you what we think Turf toe is and then you could probably correct us on this. That'd be great. Let's see what you guys got. Let's see how good you are. All right. I'll start with you, Paulie. What do you think your toe is like a ligament sprain in the toe that hampers an athlete from pushing off like sprinting like running for two. You got a definition for church to one's toe was so severely sprained from the pounding on the torture that it does something. What kind of disconnects Tito from the other toes and needs to be surgically fix a snap back into place. All right, Seaton It is an injury that when, uh, say like wide receivers are going to get their second foot in and they drag it along the left their toes on the turf, and then it gets hurt like that. No, I did not. I did not even look at it that way. Yes, my club, So I thought it was a rug burn style injury from any time she goes on the worse when you're playing with your kids of rug burn, but I do believe it's out. Now ligament underneath your toe that connects to the foot. Okay, let's let's bring in. Doc and Doc. What exactly is Turf toe. Well, I think I think example one wins the ligament injury so it could be a ligament injury. Or it could be an injury to the planter plate, which is almost like a Cartlidge thing That's on the bottom of it, So it is the big toe joint. And it rarely. Is it an injury? There were quite a surgery. The bass majority of players don't require surgery in the NFL there have been about there was a study that was done that had about 30 guys with serfdom. Injuries that were pretty severe, and only about 10% ended up requiring some surgery. Deon Sanders did require surgery. Deon Sanders Strip toe injury did end his career. Essentially, he stuck around for a couple more years, but never really was the same. Antonio Gates had it had a pretty bad turf toe had surgery in 2000 and eight and played Many years was very productive after that injury in surgery, So generally speaking guys, too, Okay. I think John was as his foot with a test was an extreme case. Didn't Mahomes play the Super Bowl with a Tauron ligament? Certainly did. I mean, I In other words, when you have a tip toe injury there, three grades break one. Great, too Great three. It's the same for almost anything. Great one, just a few of the fibers or tourney. Great to a bunch more. Tauron. Great three. It's completely disrupted. So for someone to need surgery generally, there's got to be a little bone chip. It's in the joint or the toe has to be somewhat unstable, which would tell you that that ligament tear had to be pretty significant.

Can Tampa Bay Win A Second Straight Super Bowl

"Well in just his first season with the team brady has already brought a title to tampa buccaneers controlled. Much of last night's thirty one to nine super bowl win and brady is poised to keep winning saying after the game quote. We're coming back. You know that we do know it. And i personally love it shared. And how do you feel about is brady. Started his second dynasty in tampa skip out of his tour to detail. And if you made me say yes to say no. There's a reason why no team had repeated and sixteen years because it's hard to do and you see. Injuries are big part of this. So because we saw what happened to chiefs offensive line. They lose basically three starters and they're not the same team that they took to the super bowl the previous year. They're not even the same super bowl that would that finish the afc championship game. So injuries player key role in And plus a lot of things have to go well the injuries during the course of the season. I don't believe the pandemic. I think we're getting more and more vaccines arm and President biden was talking about last night. Say i expect the pike house for super bowl fifty six. Hopefully that's the case. Where is so fi here. Oh you're be out. I thought i'd be right over luma and plus get if you think about it. They got shack bags. A free agent. Labonte david i believe. They bite price themselves out of contracts tampa although they might be willing to take less money to come back to people. It's with jack man. Considering that he was an undrafted free agent and leave any money on the table of. Aren't they david that might be something dominant. So leonard fournette and tonio brown gronk. I believe a couple of those guys you can get back on the cheap but skipped the only have thirty guys on the contract for next year. The next is a that is forty two in the nfl their fifty three man roster only thirty the contract So who comes. Who goes is so hard to repeat because the turnover is so great now what we know right now for the most part. All the coaches are coming back. Tob old didn't get a job by relent. We didn't get a job and so for what we can see right. Now get the coaching staff. We'll be back in full. There was some speculation. That bruce arians if they won this one would would see the the head coaching to talk balls and maybe either being the background or walk into the sunset. I think this was such a headache experience for him at his age. He'd say i gotta take another shot. Hey could you remember. Meal did that and he later regretted he came. Back out of retirement ended up coaching kansas city. Yeah because he felt he made a decision out of emotion. That was the wrong decision. So maybe a fist back a couple of months but it's hard to repeat. There's a reason why there have only been in an full of teams now in the last thirty years. That's ever done it because it's so hard to cobb was dated. We did it and the patriots did it.

They took away the sidelines and they did a good job around into the football on making tackles. We? We weren't We weren't shooting early. If you miscues, guys weren't we weren't on the same page. Super Bowl LV: How Tom Bradys Bucs Upset The Chiefs

"Bill. It is eleven twenty nine pm eastern and we made it. We have arrived at our final late sunday night session of the nfl season. I think you're showing the appropriate level of enthusiasm. Just watch ill. Barnwell has been our. Nfl oracle through low. These many football weeks you can catch wisdom on the bill. Barnwell show podcast and his monday column on. Espn plus bill. I know i'm washed. I knew that coming in. But tonight i also discovered that i'm like had to close my eyes because the weekend halftime show is making me wash so on top of these horrific super bowl. We ended up getting an. I'm also just the opposite of tom brady. In every sort of genetic sense it turns out. There were so many songs i've heard in uber's or biggest when i was like. Oh that's who does that song. That sucks i. i'm. I'm okay with that songs now. I really learned a lot during the halftime show. Not sure i learned so much during the actual game l. If i mean it just in thinking about what are most notable takeaway or the the moment remember from the super bowl will be years from now it comes down to maybe mccall hardman lining up full yard offsides on a field goal. Try tony romo. Getting very excited about a streaker. In the fourth quarter of lot where he was trying to will the game to be competitive was a a complete and utter dominant victory by the buccaneers and was an upset but the thoroughness of the whole thing and the repetitive nature. What happened from series and series for possession possession. Really just sort of by the end of the game. Everyone knew what the story was because it was really office so it did feel a times bill like we were getting. Tom brady playing his hits. But before we pay our respects at the altar of brady and all of his non washington is. I want to ask how exactly kansas city. Patrick mahomes looked this helpless. Because that's what was shocking to me too twenty seventeen before mahomes was a starter in the league to find a game where the chiefs had been. Shut out of the end zone entirely before tonight. So how did the buccaneers. How defensive coordinator. Todd bowles stopped. One of the most unstoppable offenses. We ever seen it. Was you know sort of a game. Plan out of the nineteen sixties. Winning at the line of scrimmage and dominating upfront and you know. I don't want to exaggerate. Wanted to subscribe to recency bias. But i have to admit i'm not sure i've ever seen an offensive line. Get beaten badly over the course of an entire game as the chiefs were by the buccaneers on sunday. Night me last year in the super bowl we saw nick bosa and the forty niners really dominate the chiefs from most of the first three quarters were on pace to win that game but fourth quarter. Nick bosa got tired. And patrick mahomes turn things around very quickly. The chiefs launched forward scored a bunch of touchdowns and won the super bowl. And this time around. We were sort of waiting for that moment right and it never happens. The buccaneers pressure mahomes on virtually every single meaningful past play. This game often

Key Super Bowl Matchups: The Case for the Kansas City Chiefs & Tampa Bay Buccaneers Winning Sunday

"The Kansas City Chiefs versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The long road that led us here with many unique twists and turns is a story unto itself. Now, in about 3.5 hours, the game which promises history, the chief's looking to become the ninth team with back to back titles. The Bucks hoping to put 1/7 Super Bowl ring on Tom Brady's hand. I'm Scott Graham. Happy to be back with your four Super Bowl Sunday, and my co host is a man who won two Super Bowls back to back, including an M V P honor for Super Bowl 32. He's an NFL network in Westwood, one analyst, the Hall of Famer, and he's been with us each week on this program all season long. Well, Davis. Welcome aboard. Scott. Man, It is eyes exciting and getting ready for this big game. A man I'll tell you what. When you look at how this one is going to play out, everybody is focusing on the quarterback's rightfully so. But when you start looking at a couple of the individual matchups in this game, there is a lot that ends up coming into play. And one of the things that everybody's been focusing on all week is the fact that the chief's dinged up on the offensive line going with backups there against a really strong past Russian. It Defense for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That seems at least right now to be one that's playing at its peak. Is that the key matchup in your mind? Well, that is one of them. I mean, we look at the Bucks defense and we've seen what they looked like the last couple of weeks and listen. Todd Bowles, Their defensive coordinator, has really got them dialed in. They've gotten after, and Rogers drew Brees and, you know, I think this defense is going to be, you know, formidable when it comes to getting after Patrick Mahomes, but You know, he's such a great quarterback. He's such a guy that can get out of situations that you don't think he could get out off s. Oh, that's gonna be a challenge for this team as well. When you look at it, and from your perspective, especially, I mean a running back a hall of Fame running back and very rarely these days is anybody say, Well, the running game is going to be a really big part of this. It seems like that's becoming an antiquated idea. Can the running game for the chief's help in some way, take away some of the aggressiveness of the Tampa Bay defense? Yeah, I believe so, Scott, because you know all the focus of this game really is gonna be on the chief's weapons, right? You know, you got obviously Tyree Kill Travis Kelsey. Then you have the other guys out there to me, Cole Harmon. And then you have Clyde. That was the lair who last year was an El s. You had a phenomenal national championship game, and I think a game like this is going to bode well for him, because if you're tired of those, you can't double team everybody. Somebody's got to have one on ones. And if you're the bucks, you've got to put more people in coverage. So that's gonna leave a light box for Clyde Edwards. He layer not only running but the short passing game, and I think that Eric the enemy, and Anne Rie will find a way to make this young man have an impact in a game like this. On the other side. Everybody, of course, is focusing on Tom Brady. I mean, he got them here, and he is once again right in the middle of the possibility of winning a super books. 10th visited pressure absurd, absurd. When you look at this team, they've got a whole bunch of weapons as well. Is there one that you focus on the offensive side of the ball for Tampa Bay? That you think might have a bigger impact in this game than another? I do. I think it's actually Leonard for net and not necessarily in the running game. But little has been Really good and their passing game, And I think that kind of matchup between Leonard for Net and the linebacker Damian Will Wilson and Anthony Hitchens from the chief's, because when you start doing that thing where they played in week, 12 Barnett had a decent game, but Ronald Jones caught the ball in the flat and was able to have a long touchdown score from that ball that was thrown into the flat. So no one is talking about that. But I think that again, Hitchens and Wilson is gonna have to have a really good game and not again. It's not with him running with the football. He's been a threat as a receiver, which is something that his game is never had. So I think, you know, Of course. Tom Brady likes to get his backs involved in games like this member James White. He had a phenomenal Super Bowl. So I think later for now is gonna be a guy that's gonna have to have a huge impact. Last thing for this segment does the first meeting have any impact on what we're about to see in a few hours here or is that just research? Yeah, I think you could take some things. Most coaches look at the game and they kind of take The things that sort of worked, you know, everything goes. She kind of just you pick things of a game and say Okay, well, we have success against his team before. You know, we'll try to do it again this time, but maybe we're gonna disguise it a little differently, but run the same kind of plays. So, yeah, I think you there's things that each team can take from that meeting. But, you know, I think it's about who can make those adjustments and going into this game. I think ultimately it's going to be the team that comes out

I have zero energy and zero excitement about an all star game this year. I don't even understand why we're having all star game But this there agreement at the players association came about we were told that we were not having all star game so we had a nice little break. Five days from fifty two tampa for me to recalibrate for the second half of the season. Tips on buying a TV for the Super Bowl

"This is the best time of the year for me. Because it's almost time for the super bowl and my team the kansas city chiefs trying to go back to back and defeat. Tom brady and the tampa bay buccaneers to get their second straight super bowl title as washington. Football team fan. I am in misery right now because we haven't been to a super bowl since i don't know forever but anyway it's also a great time of year to shop for tv. Traditionally the days leading up to the super bowl come just behind black friday and holiday sales of the most tv purchases across the us. That's right it's. It's a good time to upgrade your tv or display and for some more insights. Were lucky enough to have our colleague ryan. Who is the managing editor for electronics. Reviewed. hey ryan thanks for being with us. Thought you might have some advice to share with shoppers. Who might be thinking about getting a new. Tv with the big game coming up this weekend. Hey guys So fun to be here. I am very upset because you're a cheese fan. And i'm a broncos fan and I am now looking down. The spiral of losses for maybe. I don't know the rest of our football lives. Because patrick mahomes is probably gonna pay for twenty years. But that's not what we're here to talk about. I suppose we should talk about it if we might even lose breath you daren't chiefs fans anyway. It is a great time to buy a tv. There are few great times in the year. But why this is such a great time to buy a tv is because there are really good deals as these new. Tv's are coming out. They are trying to get these quote unquote old. Tv's off of shelves or out of their internet stockpiles so they are wheeling and dealing. Somebody's tv's and another good thing about why now is a great time. Particularly after twenty twenty is a lot of the. Tv's in two thousand twenty some of those new features that people look for future-proof tv like two point one hdmi of variable refresh rates for gaming. So you're actually getting a lot of the complete package in a tv. That is you know has an older year date but that really doesn't matter. It's like buying a car at the end of the year. Or you know in january if you can get on the shelves. You're going to get a really good deal on it so one of the biggest questions. It always comes up when you're buying a tv is how big do you go. What advice do you give consumers who are trying to figure out the right size. Tv to buy all the advice. I usually give consumers is if you think it's probably a little too big then you are probably right on the money because i have never talked to somebody who bought you know a fifty five or sixty five inch tv And then we're really upset. About how big. The picture looks and especially now when you can't go to a movie theater. People are loving these bigger screens now. Of course there's an aesthetic. You know thing to balance here whether or not. It's just gonna look too darn big for your living room but other than that again. You're not gonna be upset by having a bigger brighter picture. That's a that's a good answer. That's what i always tell my friends and my wife. Also if you're going to buy a tv don't short out. Can i mean if you can afford. It gets to the point. How much should people spend. I've done a little research on this. And the average person spends under four hundred dollars on the tv. I would like to spend a little bit more when i buy my next one. What would you recommend people. The average person spend ryan. Well you know it really does depend on what you're looking for but again if you're looking for that big punch you don't have to spend a crazy amount of because there are so many new technologies and some really up and coming companies. A lot of people have probably heard about. Tcl's six series tv by now. If you're shopping at all it is sort of the quintessential roku tv that people love to get it. Packs a bunch of performance punch into a very nice price point however if you are looking to get something even bigger and you look into say around that lower price point around four hundred but you know maybe you can go a little bit higher you can get. Tcl's four series which is not quite as good performance wise but it is going to opera four k. It is going to offer hdr which is going to give you that brightness and a wider color gamut and it's going to pop a little bit more and you can get a seventy five inch model of that right now For instance on best buy for six hundred and thirty bucks. Six hundred thirty dollars i mean. Can you imagine we've been around a while. You imagine getting tv that size for like anything less than three grand even five years ago. I'm not. I'm not gonna do the math exactly but it's it's pretty wild. How low it's gotten. It really is incredible And you mentioned best buy. There's an unfortunately in the world. Tv buying we've lost a lot of local tv shops or audio video shops So a lot of people do their buying online. But as we're getting close to the game it seems like you may want to think about going local at this point right. Well you could. I you know i think that is a great point. It'd probably depends on how close you are to a prime shipper if you're going to do it from amazon but one thing to do and i did this recently with a different product purchase. Is you can shop on best buy and then order it to pick up in store. They'll usually do curbside avoids the pandemic issue they can. They will bring it right out to your car and slap it in the back and then you're good to go so i think that's if you're looking to stop right now right before the game. That's probably your best way to go ryan. Thanks again for being with us and for the listeners. Out there working. They find out more info on buying a tv for the super bowl. Yeah we've got Reviews on many of these. Tv's on review dot com. You can also check out our best of tv list and sliver other best of that have Show all the great deals and compare all these. Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes: Who will win Super Bowl LV?

"Well patrick mahomes is going for his second straight super bowl in already has plenty of game winning. Drive experience on the flip side. Is tom brady. Who's going for his seventh super bowl win ten trips and has the most experienced leading a team to victory in lake game. Super bowl drives so shannon. Who would you rather have on the final drive to win the game mahomes or brady skjei bile understand. Tom brady the understand what he's accomplished. I understand how great he's been for such a long time. But if you tell me right now. I'm going to take patrick mahomes. He's the best player in the game and he's been in these big moments before three double digit comeback last year. One in the super bowl had a nine point comeback fisher in which you won the game and in the postseason this year. Patrick mahomes had the ball fifteen times. He's punted once. He's turned it over none seven touchdowns four field goals midfield goal in to. Neil doubt. that's what he's done. This postseason so i understand brady historic and would like you. Say it's six touchdown. Six bolt with six game winning drives and a lot of those the super bowl but are some afc championship game there. Some some regular. Some playoff games and tom brady has been great but given where mahomes right now and what he's capable of doing. I feel very comfortable entrusting him. This is okay. So you're ready to take the keys. Get on the interstate and dry for yourself. So i'm gonna take patrick mahomes

"With our colleagues jason jiang's pompeii and mike sando. You did some digging into how and why the chiefs decided to pursue patrick mahomes. So let's go all the way back to two thousand seventeen six weeks before the nfl draft. There was a conference call with the chiefs brain. Trust can you tell us who was on that call and what was said. There's clark hot. The owner of the kansas city chiefs. There's former general manager. But is at the time john dorsey and then bread. Vh who was up and coming rising executive. She's front office. Along with andy reid and it was at this point where the plans basically set in motion. One of the boldest moves ever in their franchise history over sixty years which was go. Get a quarterback in the first round something that had not happened since nineteen ninety-three when the team drafted todd blackledge. So clark on basically gave the green light to india read brett reach and john dorsey to try to make the moves necessary to go get passion home. Base will have to remember at the time that she's had a pro bowl quarterback already on their roster. In alex smith who had just guided the chiefs to twelve wins in two thousand sixteen so or franchise. That was already stable to make a great league people within the building once they learned of what the plan truly was and how they were going to do it in a very secretive manner were sort of stunned somebody in the business department when they learned this week before the draft said holy. What because you know you're doing something that's going to have massive ramifications moving forward and if you are successful in your mission could change the course of nfl history. You wrote that. Mahomes appeared on the chiefs radar a few years earlier in two thousand fourteen when he was a freshman at texas tech. What is the story. There by twenty fourteen was really becoming someone that was going to have a true voice in the she's front office. And when he came aboard with injury to join the chiefs and twenty thirteen his main mission was to finding the next quarterback right. Andy reid when he got to. The city said hey. We need to find a franchise quarterback. I've got to find that next. Len dawson it. Find it and so it might be right here at might not. So i've got dig in. I need a little time to do that now. That player was not available in twenty. Thirty in can you really wasn't available in two thousand fourteen based on where the team is projected to finish but these was thinking ahead brett. Vh thinks easing sleeps football. Everybody loves the game. But i think if you find guys guys that love the process you're going to be more successful than not and i think that's kind of started with those guys and it's infectious and it kind of carries popped about in his fuel. His energy is red bull and gummy bears. The man will crush them. Both the guy usually has the most energy in the room read. Beach was always thinking ahead. He was trying to anticipate. you know. Maybe twenty sixteen seventeen or eighteen. Maybe we can make the move. We'll get a quarterback so he's going through every college team particularly in the southeast and south. Obviously that includes texas tech and in the middle of the two fourteen season. There's this young patrick. Mahomes the site of the former big league pitcher pat mahomes. And he's going through a little baptism of fire. Here's you do have to remind people in patrick through action against oklahoma state. He fumbled in any made. It worse do an interception. It knocked away picks it up flips it out deidra flexing by jacobs athletic advised play by a home. You can see right away that this kid was not afraid to go for what was necessary to what he thought. Let's success and little by little revie started to see that while this young man has the ability to pass the ball with. They've lost city in an accuracy in anticipation which is so hard and college. Four and fourteen from a homes. He's all the way back at the other. Forty five goes across. Midfield all said i believe the twenty teen bowl game against you kinda proved to bread. Vit that okay. I'm going to send highlights. I'm going to see more anecdotes about what i hear about trails. You know the lsu bowl game. I think was the first time you're watching him. And you're like kids incredible. Because i mean he's out there playing and was loaded with draft picks on both sides the football and and certainly tech was a little under match but this kissing handedly put the team on the back and and made that game competitive. I'm going to really bug andy. Reid i'm going to say hey. Did you hear about that play. And so by two thousand fifteen everybody in the building particularly in the front office new man brett vs loves patrick mahomes and he will basically move heaven in herve to try to convince everyone that he is the next rate quarterback even though he wasn't by this time considered a number one pick or even a guy who's going to go in the first round of the nfl draft. Well nate as you mentioned. From the moment he took the chiefs job. Andy reid talked about. Trying to find the chiefs next franchise quarterback. What did it take for. Reed to finally get on board with patrick. Mahomes being that guy. Do you have to remember that at texas tech. Patrick mahomes was the quarterback of team. And i wanna say this nicely. That had the worst defence in college. Football like the worst defense in in major college football at the time. Patrick mahomes understands. I need to score points almost on every drive to keep our team in the game so look he had some. Nfl life throws but there are consequences when you feel like you have to score. Every time that led to a lot of interceptions that led to a lot of forced passes and so angry knew he had the reps. And i can't tell you it's one play but there are a few of these passes where he'd be running right and looking right and then thrown back left but not all the way to that danger zone but in a position where you just go whoop i mean that's that's and then it was down to. Okay how does he look at the game mentally. Can you see what i see in is a cultural so the chiefs had patrick in early april of two thousand seventeen. This is less than a month before the draft and they had him for pre-draft. Visit and andy reid as told me by. Mitch halted the longtime radio voice of the chiefs. Any gave him every chance to sort of fail or to test them in terms of his mental accurate. At patrick mahomes is one of the smartest players in the league and he showed it that day. So andrew walks out of the room is towards the end of the day and breadth beats. Of course the eager anxious you know spinning two and a half years tried to convince injury that hey this is the guy injuries smells. It gives a thumbs up. Now it's full steam ahead. Let's make every call we can't see how do we want to maneuver and trade up to see how quickly we can go get home before another team does well. So in the two thousand seventeen draft. The chiefs initially had the number twenty seven pick. Was there ever a thought that maybe they could get. Patrick mahomes with that. Pick part of me based on our reporting this story lead me to believe that maybe he would have gotten to the twenties right. Maybe they wouldn't have had to jump so much to take patrick mahomes. But then there's another part and this is our great colleague. Mike sando who reports that make you miss the longtime general manager of the saints along. Sean payton their head coach was very clear in saying. Hey if patrick mahomes is available at eleven we will take him and so for the chiefs. They had to go through this.

Chiefs' barber tested positive for COVID-19

"To my sources at this particular time, it appears 20 of the Kansas City Chiefs almost went to get here cuts on Sunday from Barber, who had Cove it now they've taken precautions, and the truth of the matter is that everything is going to be fun. I saw Schefter tweeted that he's like that. It's he's like it's all okay. They were They were they were they? What was I gonna look it up? Because I looked at it, and it was like, Wait, wait, wait. This doesn't sound is safe as you're making it sound and, uh, did you get so you guys saw? That s so what's the tweet? Well, let's say it's easy to find if you didn't have 700 tweets a day. Yeah, there were over 20 Chiefs, players and staffers, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes schedule Sunday to get a haircut with the barber who tested positive for Cove. It Her sources. Of course. The chief's acted Wisely and aggressively and pulled the barber mid cut once his test results came in. Now, I would have to say If if they were that weighs an aggressive, they probably should have waited until his test results came back to even start the haircuts. You

"Here's one more. If you're getting ready to play a game, you were a corner who are you more worried about defending Lamar Jackson or Cuyler Murray. I may Lamar's obviously better. But as a corner, I'm worried about Colin? Murray, because his arm is outstanding and it's terrifying the he attacks the outside of the field. I'm looking at Lamar Jackson and then I'm looking at the linemen linebackers in a safety and I'm saying that's your problem. He throws the tight ends. He runs zone reads he's running around. That is your problem I'm going to be out here with Hollywood stand deep. Make sure we don't beat me but Lamar's not going to be attacking outside of feel the same way to tyler. Maria Lamar is obviously an MVP and terrifying but that ain't my proud. Inside y'all got to do tight ends. That's fair and I think it's fair to say that right now. But that Kid Colin Murray is on the come and they got him the best present. They could possibly get him in the form of De'andre Hopkins speaking of Presence Happy Birthday? Patrick Mahomes. He's twenty five years old today. So we decided to look back at where some of the all time great quarterbacks were on the day they turn twenty five start with Tom Brady. Tom Brady when he turned twenty five was coming off his first super bowl title he was the Super Bowl. MVP. Came in his first season as a starter. So that's where he was when he turned twenty five how about Peyton Manning Peyton manning when he turned twenty five was coming back to back seasons in pro bowl however, unlike chiefs quarterback Peyton had yet to win a playoff game, he didn't win his first until after he was twenty seven Dan Marino meanwhile head already won an MVP by his. Twenty fifth birthday he had more pro bowls and more first team all pros than mahomes. But of course, he hadn't won the Super Bowl and as you most likely no, he never wound up winning one Joe Montana meanwhile wasn't even close when he turned twenty five he was two and six as a starting quarterback it was in his age twenty, five season that experienced is huge breakthrough as mahomes. What can you say he's twenty five and he's already done more than most players will dream of he's been regular season MVP super. Mvp He's one just under eighty percent of his games including the playoffs and perhaps most importantly, he has a ten year contract extension worth basic basically half a billion dollars. So let us ask the question..

"Like a you know put his arm around both of them. Arms around both took a couple of photos. Have a great day guys thanks for coming over and and talking he just. Patrick Mahomes is not only agreed football player. Does crap. Right. Now he just does he just knows how to do all this stuff. But. This, last thing last point I really wanted to make about our trip to Kansas, city everybody is going to say. So. The chief so repeat right and. I talked about this a little bit in my. A LITTLE NBC two minute here's right thought of training camp. But. Everybody's gonNA wonder okay, do they still have that drive the still have that desire and there was a play in Thursday's practice. That I thought was just. So emblematic of a team. That really wants and. People who know tyronn Matthew Basically, he is an intense guy who turned his life around twenty one or twenty two, and he could have gone down the wrong path and Bennett statistic but. He changed his life and good for him. He's been incredibly valuable guided several teams and now to the Super Bowl champion chiefs he lined up in one on one. receiver versus DVD drill and demarcus Robinson in one of the Kansas City receivers ran out and did I'm guessing Nater tenured Curl And turned around and he got blasted by. Tyrant Matthew Not Tackled Tired Matthew just drove through him while to get to knock the ball away and when he did this, he basically then gave the signal of incomplete. And he was all fired up and everybody's out there yelling hollering and everything. It was kind of a cool moment like a game. It sounds like pigs it was a game and what I think is cool about that honestly is. I mean, think about it. It's August whatever twentieth and you know this moment in practice is not really gonNA matter when he faced the Houston Texans but deterrent matthew, it matters just go only play one way. So anyway that's those are a couple of things I. I wanted to I wanted to mention. do you think they'll be no super bowl hangover? They have a you know you never. You never can tell but but. I mean I. don't see elements of a hangover happening. I mean but. You just never know you never know little. Hurdles. You'RE GONNA face the season but I I think they're going to be Okay I. I'm not positive right now because I got to pick it like you know I don't know week or so but I don't really know I'm going to pick but I'm favorably inclined to. You know to pick the chief so we'll just see. but anyway so anything else well, like you were saying how you had to do interviews before practice. The day before you saw them play which we never do since their digital now is there anything that after watching Patrick or honey badger or read that you wish you could ask them if you could interview them today the you were able to from interviewing them before you got to actually watch them play I would ask them a homes. What is your level of comfort now with Clyde Edwards Hilar- because. You worked him into the ground in these two practices. And Remind your all of Kareem, hunt when. Yeah. Even though Alex Smith was the quarterback in Koreans breakout year Patrick Mahomes was there and you know in twenty seventeen and he he saw everything happen. But I'd probably ask him about Edwards Hilar-. and but as far as just. The readiness of this team. I think there's so much respect. On this team in this Organization for Andy Reid that they're not. Ever. Going to They're not. Ever going to sort of you know give it a half effort. You know yeah. So I you know I think they've got a good shot. Let's see what happens in the next couple of weeks. I'll make my pick and totally as always embarrass myself we're coming up on the airport we're GONNA have to dump out now. Anne been great to have on the trip. As usual thing we have in the we had some good times. We some fun. All End. Or. Not. Yeah. It was fun. It was really good. We we weren't really limited that much of the pandemic where we Practice was pretty similar. I did Miss Interactions with the guys after they came off the field. There's some really cool moments to watch. but now you know we we made it work I. Wish Normally Right now eight days inn we'd be like just getting in a rhythm. Have two weeks to go and it's over, which is sad. I wish you I. Wish we had a few more camps visit, but we made it work. You're you know you really love I've always loved this time of year and I think the only person who loved this time of year the way you did was Kaelin Keller, who was my kind of protege at the Huby in. rated. Yeah. When we called her the other day, you could tell she was she misted shoe. Yeah. Because I, two weeks ago I was feeling that too. I was like if I don't go on this trip, I, don't know what I'm going to do I need this. And I could tell she messed to. You know one of the things you have to have on this camp trip. Is I mean at the risk of soundings you gotta be okay with driving for eight hours in the car. And I kind of like that I think it is a cool thing to drive from Nashville to Kansas City and in the span of four hours or maybe three hours to drive over the Tennessee Mississippi and Missouri. Rivers. And you know. Did I know that was going to happen at the start of the day no I. Didn't really look at a map. But It's just it's fun I love the United States I love traveling in the United States and I just this is always sort of highlight for me and I'm one of the few people if he asked me if I'd prefer to drive or fly really might prefer to drive. Need so Carney's Hey, we'll anyway thank you Anne. Thank you since you were able to open. This segment as me. Now like you to close it as me. Oh wow shoot. "That Brady success is tied to the support system and Carson Palmer's less successful years were tied to less than successful support. Think about Russell Wilson. Pro Football focused ranked the Seattle offensive line. Twenty eighth The defense I'll give you the chart last several years. Seattle's defense was number one back in two thousand thirteen. It's now two second to fifth to eleventh to sixteenth last year, it was twenty-sixth. They. Don't draft particularly well, several IFFY, first and second round picks in the last four to five years. The difference between Mahomes and Russell. Wilson and they are the two best quarterbacks. One Guy is being supported philosophically with weapons with coaching in schemes. Every day. The other guy is saving a deteriorating franchise owner Paul Allen died. Seattle's looking for another one. General Manager. Rashad Penny first round. What are you doing? Coach. The defense doesn't work anymore I. Mean Pete Carroll's defense is getting gas last two years. That doesn't mean they're not competent, but the philosophy of Seattle defense coach run game. The philosophy and the philosophy of homes is let support this all time talent. The difference is Kennedy gets. They have an all time. Talent Seattle doesn't their offensive lines are bad, they they never they don't. They've never had an elite wide receiving corps. Their philosophy is anti quarterback. Win The game. They have a Jurassic. In I mean it's such an outdated offense. And Russell Wilson's been begging for the last two years. Can I have more input on the offense? Patrick Mahomes doesn't have to beg in fact Patrick. Mahomes is had impact on who the chiefs draft. They've asked him which receiver to you. Do you think works down Seattle? The Russell Wilson. You gotta be kidding me. He just begs for support I can see Russel looking at that and say listen I. Love where I'm at and I. got my Super Bowl, but man the philosophy, and can we have the two best quarterbacks in the League? The philosophy in Kansas City is total support. Build around him the philosophy Seattle sometimes feel like it antagonistic. They both have won super bowl. I? Didn't go bolt one another, but man I could see Russel Wilson looking at that and saying. Is I'm a little jealous of the philosophical. Weapon Coaching schematic support. mahomes gets in Kansas city joy with the news. On the news. This is the headline news. Made a big move bringing in Cam Newton doesn't mean he'll automatically get start week. One according to Tom Curren. Cam understands that there will be an open quarterback competition in New England's, but he's already starting to play. Both in team is confident. He will master. It's turn adds. It is inevitable that a healthy will start at some point this season. Yeah I mean. We talked a little bit about this yesterday. rob. Ninkovic said that he should start on the depth chart as the third string quarterback behind Brian. And Jerry. Ross. Tucker said he's he's GonNa have some trouble with the he may have some trouble with the system and Jerry is are in there, and all this things look I think that once we get in camp. This is going to be a conversation. That's going to be dead immediately because cameras a ten year. NFL quarterback and was a number one overall pick and. Former MVP and played in Super Bowl, and does that depth of experience alone would really only be would be a conversation between him and Brian. Hoyer here at. Having experience, we don't know what Jarret Stidham is right. Before this camping started, we were both very skeptical of what was being pitched to us like the neither one of US bought into it all right. They're not getting enough. They're not making any effort to get any of these other quarterbacks so clearly. They are rolling with your now. They brought him to end to be the starter. He's not. He's not going to sit behind yards unless it is a health issue. Well I also think this. The one thing I think's tougher CAM is. He's not GONNA! Get all the snaps. That was brady used to be so? Territorial Brady would. Brady would be offended if you didn't get all the snaps. The issue here is there's going to be a quarterback competition which would be fine if both had been an assistant for multiple years, no TA abridged. Camp I I. Am I'm going to be fascinating to see how long we have camp before potentially Cova guys back. You know so I. Think it's tougher for Kim I. Think this is really an uphill battle for him I think it's tough for anybody to what I said before with Joe, borough he's going to be bad this year job bad. Borough is a rookie though the Bengals, but he'll get every snap. He'll be back this year. I don't know that he'll be bad. He's just going to have some struggles. This year. He went to the worst team in the league. By far, they were terrible. That's why they had the number one overall pick. And haven't made that. Many dramatic changes other than Joe from last year to this year so and everything else that you just mentioned that we're dealing with with the pandemic, so yes, it's going to be up for him in any rookie quarterback. Rookie quarterback so going through camping, and all those other things only concern with cam is his health as far as the system and everything else goes might be a little rocky a couple of weeks. As long as there is a camp, there's going to be visible, obvious difference between Cam Newton. Endure it system because I didn't buy into before, and that's not going to change now. We'll talk more about this story chat today at three thirty eastern on caffeine free. Free. APP, go download and subscribe to the. Fox Sports Channel so speaking of all that Bruce Arians wants stepped away from football for our health for health concerns, but he's decided not to opt out and twenty twenty, but it'll be taking extra precautions this year in his realistic about players being exposed to the virus, he said we've got to be careful the players they're going to all get sick. That's for sure it's just a matter of how sick they gets. Number areas is a three time cancer survivor, so he said he is. He is nervous about it for himself. He's going to be you know probably the to mask guy and you know, be extra careful. As you know there are a lot of older coaches on a lot of these these staff, so they're going to take extra precautions, but I don't know that I would go as far say everyone is going to get sick. I think it's you know. We really have no idea what's going to happen tomorrow few months from now. I I watched Florida in Texas and I'm like I don't know. I have no answers. I got no answers. Nobody has any answers. and. It changes day to day week to week. What the answers are so two three months from now? Who knows what the landscape? The way yesterday? There's people on Fox News saying masks. Don't matter and I'm thinking. I think masks manner now. I'm being told they don't matter..

"Mr Bill Barnwell himself and Bill I wanted to have you on today. Because I thought no one, did a better job breaking down Patrick mahomes making half a billy, at least that was the headline, but when you started diving into this deal with him and the chiefs that was record-breaking. What ultimately does this? Deal. Look like and how's it going to change the league? Yeah I mean you know it's GonNa be a lot of money like that. Let's let's leave that part of. He's going to get rich one way or another. I think he's GonNa make. A million dollars over the next twelve years. Just don't think it's going to be totally under this deal. It's really kind of two separate six year contracts six year, one hundred eighty million dollar deal in that range, and then six years for the rest, which is about three hundred twenty million dollars, or so so I think because of the structure of the deal. Deal because of the way that the money is guaranteed I think it's likely, but after six years the two sides go back to the table and say hey, you know. He might be a bargain at that point, even though he's making fifty million dollars a year, so I think they're going to go back and restructure maybe a year or two. You know just. Just, Kinda make it a different sort of contract so I don't think he's going to be sitting here for twelve years on this contract, but he's GonNa make a ton of money whether it's five hundred, fifty, six, hundred was going to be making more than a half billion dollars over the next twelve years. If he stays healthy and I think I don't know. Know what you guys think boy I write about this contract. I started thinking okay well. Is there anybody else in the NFL? Who could justify this sort of contract? And my answer was? No, I don't think there's anybody else who could sit here and ask the sort of deal who I'd feel good about handing the same sort of contract which speaks to. How little it might change in some ways, but also just how uniquely Special Patrick Mahomes is now. What about Lamar Jackson? If Lamar Jackson has the season like Patrick Mahomes Patrick Mahomes had a great year. They ended up not winning the super. Bowl comes back. He wins it if Lamar. Jackson takes the Ravens. The Super Bowl in wins it. Could we not see Lamar cash in on a deal? I mean if you want to, you know. I think if that happens any wants it i. don't see how the Ravens would say no I couldn't fault them for giving him an contract. He's an incredible player. I think he's so smart with how he uses his body to keep himself healthy. He gets out of balance doesn't take necessary hits, but he's still running quarterback. He's still gonNA take. Its than you know, Patrick mahomes would or to Shawn Watson would or You know I any of the guys who really you know are not running as frequently. Ask Lamar does and I. think that's you know I think he's a great pocket passer I think he can be that guy. You know being effective guy if he's not running much, he does, but I think the offense. He's in calls for him to do that, so you know. Would I be uncomfortable with the Ravens giving Lamar Jackson the same amount of money on a yearly basis, not a lot. I think yes I totally fine, but. Would I want guarantee him money ten years now I'd be a little nervous and I think nothing against Lamar Jackson. It's just the nature of being a running quarterback in the. NFL is different than being back from homes. Who is a guy who occasionally runs? But it's really more of a you know a passer. Mentioned to Shawn Watson. Take this up further. How does mahomes his contract impact Dak Prescott and Watson moving forward? I don't think it does that much. Because those guys both lunch shorter contracts really want a three year extension Maybe a four year deal you know. Maybe we'll get a five year deal. It's hard to say they want. They don't want a ten year contract or a twelve year contract. So you look at the money. Patrick Mahomes is making over the first five years of this deal. It's about a hundred forty million dollars somewhere in the twenty eight million dollar a year range which. Dak Prescott is going to get more than that that. I got was already expecting against somewhere around thirty, four or thirty five million dollars a year so. You know I don't think it's really gonNA end up being comparable because you know, I don't think the cowboys will sit here and say hey, let's pay less money. Because Patrick Mahomes took less money front because he's getting so much guaranteed down the line and from dockside. He doesn't really have that desire to get the same sort of length contracts so You know I think if anything it's sort of help. Those teams because patch roles are taking a three year deal for a massive amount of money that would have been a much more direct comparable than the deal. He actually ended up getting sir. So how does this affect Chris Jones and what? He wants to accomplish in his deal. Yeah this actually a really good thing for the chiefs, because they did not change the cap situation at all by signing this extension for the next two years Patrick. mahomes has pretty much identical cap. That's what he would have had if they had not signed him to an extension and twenty twenty and twenty twenty one so now, if the Chiefs Twenty Gay Chris Jones deal done, they can do it they. They can't afford it on their cap over the next couple years. Depending on how they structure it if they wanNA resigned Travis Kelsey WHO's coming out for free agency. They can do that and get that without having to worry about impacting their cap so because they were willing to guarantee so much money down the line, they were able to get pretty friendly terms over the next three years really..

"Coach we appreciate you taking the time today. Thank you for joining us. Listen I appreciate you guys to listen. I hate talking that much, but. I think it's important I. Appreciate you guys, even listen. Thank you back here on Arrowhead prides from the podium you just heard from chiefs head coach Andy Reid. Now that we've gotten through, that will turn it over to quarterback Patrick. Mahomes with your platform. Just the saddest that you hold is one of the faces of the NFL right now. Just how have you worked through the challenge of standing the scope of all the different things that are happening right now in ways that people could help while figuring out for you specifically how you want to help in how you want to push forward in China may change. Yeah. I think I. Think the biggest thing that I. I've done is just lean on people that I respect that. I believed on it the right way and I I've been lucky enough to grow up with a lot of great role models around me, and just trying to find listen to them as a as they talked to me and then other people around the league. Right way, listen to the advice. They give me and then trying to make the best informed decision as far as What I do in the next day I. Take the move forward, because like you said I've been given this platform and I wanna make sure I can do whatever I can make. Make the world a better place in whichever way that is. Going to see him Nolan's, you're going. Hey Patrick thanks for the time did A. can you name names on the? Adams has fallen on your answer there to Bj. Can you like who who specifically did you talk to that? You respect in is something you plan on doing more of going forward. Yeah I, mean. everybody's a lot of I mean obviously. I talked to those guys in the video Michael. Thomas I've talked to my Godfather Letroy Hawkins Talk to my father and then I've talked to talk to coaches and and people that I respect coach. Read in religious got as much information as I possibly can in their several others of people I talk to. That I get advice from every single day and I try to do that as I make any decision and and do whatever it is that I end up doing. What them. You're doing while today of understanding it. There's a lot of voices and a lot of players involved in this in this player movement right now, but none of them are you and they're not another quite accomplished. Your Age which you've accomplished in your career. Are you aware of what kind of weight? Plans to to the calls here. Yeah, I'm definitely aware I'm aware of everything aware of my surroundings I'm aware of of coming off a super bowl championship, and being being the quarterback of a super bowl, winning team, but I I've always believed in an people and I've always believed in when people do things together and do things for the right reasons and have a good heart when they do things, get done in changes change happens, and so that's always I've grown up. I got I got kind of said in my statement, a locker rooms, seeing how people come together and strive to certain goal into to. Do things and I believe that if people had the right intentions have the right heart, Tommy, go the and really sex the world and it make it a better place. Go to Harold Koontz go at Harold. And got us. We got. Yup We got a good. Good yet all I met well. Hey, I want to ask you going further with this message that you sit. What kind of be your message to somebody? Young people look up to you now that you're in a position where you're looked at as a MVP a champion. What's your message? The young people that have to do it. Some of these things would racial inequality. Inequality and maybe their dealings with police something through your past at you may have gone through that was dealt with in a racially motivated away. What's your message to them that? Look the to say. Hey. I'm going to get through this and I'm going to try to make myself better. See How your green people together to come back can make better place. I would say to do the same thing that I that. I've done a montage. Life matters to talk to the people that have taught them. Their values have talked them the right way to do things and. Listen to them because they've had those experiences in I'm a twenty twenty four years old, so I I'm maturing learning things as I go. But I've learned a lot from people like my dad. Literally Hawkins and coach Read and learned that that there's ways to handle things in order to get your point across into end to respect people, and and do the right thing but you have to to learn in had your own experiences to do that, and so just taking as much information as you can make the best informed decision that you believe you can make Anna tried to whatever you can to make the world, a better place and every action that you take. Go to Bob. VESCO GO AHEAD BOB. Patrick, you've Kinda gone from the leader of a franchise winning Super Bowl to now basically the leader of the face of the national football league. How do you view your responsibilities now as the face in the leader of the entire lake? Yeah, I mean to me. It's always been about just being the best person and the best teammate, and and the best friend that I can be with whoever interact with That's what I was taught at a young age when my mom and then for my dad, and and from everybody around me is treat people the right way, and usually, and usually you get treated the same, and if it doesn't. Doesn't happen. Keep your head up high and head. Hell Hi just go out there and beat the best person you can be in every instance if that's on the on the That's a listening to one of your best friends. Talk about their feelings, or whatever it is just be the best best role model, the best person that you can be and all the other things will handle itself. It's GonNa Steve, Walsh and Steve. Steve Can you hear me Y'all? Can we ask you? Patrick. Guys in the League have said that they wish they had done. Things differently in supported Colin Kaepernick but they were scared to do so at the time just because of. Fans ownership just monsters, and so forth I locked up. For a second. Can you hear me? I can hear you again. Hey, a lot lotta guys in the League have said they. They wished they would have done things differently in supported Colin, Kaepernick, they were scared to do so at the time because of how that would be you by fans, ownership, potential sponsors, and so forth leading up to your statement that you may be a social media, and also the black lives matter it matters video Did you have a concern of any possible backlash that you know fans of said, and have you seen anything a both positive and negative? Yeah I mean I. Feel ever decision that you make. There's going to be positive. Negatives in that's that is the world that we live in today, but I believe in both of my statement in the video that I made that it that stuff needed to be said we needed to come together as as a group as players in show that we believe that black lives matter in that that we believe that this needs to be informed that we need to be the role models go out there and take that step and obviously It was great. The founder support that we've gotten from the chiefs for me. from country lead from Clark Mark Donovan. Talked to Roger Goodell and he and he is shown his support to us but it's. It's something where. I'm always going to be informed. Decision. Understand that there's GONNA. Be Good good and there's going to be bad but if I believe something and I truly believe it. I'M GONNA I'M GONNA, might country says let my personality show, and I'M GONNA to stand behind my words and I'm GonNa. "Efficient. Now remember <Speech_Male> when Jimmy Cheese not <Speech_Male> playing with the San Francisco <Speech_Male> Forty niners team. <Speech_Male> They are bad at football <Speech_Male> bad <Speech_Male> at football <Speech_Male> he got hurt. <Speech_Male> They want down <Speech_Male> number two. Pick this this <Speech_Male> year now. He's <Speech_Male> back in the lineup. <Speech_Male> All they do is win <Speech_Male> win win no <Speech_Male> matter what Jimmy <Speech_Male> G. is a guy <Speech_Male> that I absolutely <Speech_Male> trust. What the ball in his <Speech_Male> hand? Yeah you're dead to me <Speech_Male> but <Speech_Male> you know the challenge <Speech_Male> for this is what the chief <Speech_Male> of a little bit more <Speech_Male> than those tapes. <Speech_Male> That's a lot of zone. <Speech_Male> Defense chiefs <Speech_Male> will play on a ton <Speech_Male> of man coverage <Speech_Male> so then defenders <Speech_Male> is on on <Speech_Male> their people rather <Speech_Male> than just the run game <Speech_Male> in Berlin. <Speech_Male> Where have been really <Speech_Male> good this year playing <Speech_Male> man coverage <Speech_Male> the big deal? Is this <Speech_Male> if you're going to go <Speech_Male> towards that run <Speech_Male> you've gotta know what <Speech_Male> cow wants to get <Speech_Male> to out of that <Speech_Male> run if it's <Speech_Male> going to be the <Speech_Male> deep crosser or <Speech_Male> the breaker <Speech_Male> in the return <Speech_Male> you've got to get. The <Speech_Male> some of the formation <Speech_Male> tells says <Speech_Male> a defense <Speech_Male> the challenge for the chiefs <Speech_Male> is going to be this. Can <Speech_Male> you do <Speech_Male> to Jimmy. Garoppolo <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> did the Jared Goff <Speech_Male> that pets <Speech_Male> me. Jared Goff <Speech_Male> played drop back quarterback back. <Speech_Male> And that's not <Speech_Male> the strength of him or <Speech_Male> that offense and <Speech_Male> so can they get Jimmy <Speech_Male> G. to play dropback. <Speech_Male> Jimmy Jeez the best <Speech_Male> quarterback in the <Speech_Male> NFL right now say <Speech_Male> with me. Did <Speech_Male> Jimmy the best quarterback back <Speech_Male> in the NFL and the play <Speech_Male> action and a drop back <Speech_Male> game. He's not the same <Speech_Male> guy and that's <SpeakerChange> going to be the <Speech_Male> difficulty of the issue <Speech_Male> with that. Is You talked <Speech_Male> about getting the then. <Speech_Male> If you're a defensive <Speech_Male> player and you're sitting <Speech_Male> there and looking at this nice pretty pretty <Speech_Male> picture you can <Speech_Male> get it all. You know what he does. <Speech_Male> It throws <Speech_Male> motion in the shifts <Speech_Male> in there. And so <Speech_Male> you think you have the tell <Speech_Male> and then you notice the <Speech_Male> man in your cobbling <Speech_Male> and man and you're trying <Speech_Male> to figure all that stuff about <Speech_Male> cloud <Speech_Male> your mind. Then <Speech_Male> they hit you with his own play <Speech_Male> action next <SpeakerChange> thing you know <Speech_Male> you're spending <Speech_Male> is Jimmy. G. Doesn't <Speech_Music_Male> play the niners <Speech_Music_Male> stink <Speech_Music_Male> when he plays <Speech_Male> there. <SpeakerChange> That's <Speech_Male> all you have to do. You <Speech_Female> guys stink. <Speech_Female> So let's continue <Speech_Music_Female> on get up <Speech_Music_Male> this morning and we're <Speech_Music_Female> GonNa get back to everything <Speech_Music_Female> related to Patrick <Speech_Music_Female> Mahomes. If you'd think <Speech_Music_Female> the forty niners are <Speech_Music_Female> going to change the way they <Speech_Music_Female> defend because they're <Speech_Music_Female> facing the home think <Speech_Music_Female> again why that <Speech_Music_Female> decision <SpeakerChange> could be a <Speech_Music_Female> very bad one and <Laughter> speaking <Laughter> of bad decisions <Speech_Music_Female> just getting <Speech_Music_Female> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Female> We <Speech_Music_Female> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> are <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> those guys <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> as <Speech_Music_Male> those guys in <Speech_Music_Male> <Laughter> Iraq. <Speech_Music_Male>

"So so so. Let's let's do this rex. You are one of the great defensive coaches of all time and no one understands and cares about defense more than you. You coached against some of the all time. Greatest offenses dances during your time as defensive coach. How Do you if you're coaching this weekend? For San Francisco attack this Kansas City. I made first first off. There's no way I'm going to put Richard locking down the Cheetah that ain't GonNa Happen Man. He'll lose foot race one hundred percent of the time so anytime time that Richard Sherman is is if he's going to be in man coverage on he's going to have help on top promise you that but the one thing I would. Do you have to hit. These guys is at the line of scrimmage if you give free access you've got no chance so that's what I expect them to do. The the forty niners. So it's interesting. They're not a team name. That is game plan specific. They haven't been the entire season. They play more straight zone coverage than anybody in the national football league. So are they. We're GONNA change now that you've had two weeks of preparation either. I don't think they're going to and here's the thing I think if they try to do something they're not they're not accustomed. Listen to give up fifty points they may give up fifty running their deep pits. Buddy doing what you say in defense or to put somebody over top go man. You'RE GONNA have to go man at some point put somebody over top whoever's covering he'll understand that that'll be fine. That's a good way to play defense. If it wasn't affected they got me Cole. Apartment Intrepid Kelsey. Somebody if you play man defense someone will be in Man Coverage Amoco harmonised just as fast as sorry Kayleigh is so. That is a problem for anybody. The Travis County. He's GONNA kill any safer linebacker.

"Get excited when you're dealing gets pressure. Sure but I would get nervous if I'm a D. and you see Patrick mahomes outside the pocket you want him to run not throw that thank you. I think the biggest thing that we're all saying Patrick Mahomes is great. And I think we know that we've seen other great quarterbacks and the Kryptonite for all great quarterbacks is to be hitting the mouth with pressure. I don't care the greatest of all time Tom Brady. We've faced him when when Freenet math has gotten his face. He wasn't so great. So this match has Patrick Mahomes. Who is great but I still think? I know defenses old and an antiquated and our played and all those things but football steel at its core is about getting pressure on the quarterback. And that's not a scheme. I agree that's just defeating the man in front of you and making a quarterback internal clock speed but August. But here's the thing I think. It is a little bit different than the way we used to think that way. Ten fifteen twenty years ago is any reading coaches have so much caught up to that in the rules are different nowadays. You can't get your hands on those receivers as much as you wanted to. So the quick pass does minimize that passer a little bit and I think you know we've talked all week. About the forty niners Pashas as we should the best in the league but this is one of the if not the best offensive lines in the NFL when it comes to pass protection Andy. Reid has coached against really good. Pass rushes in the past. It's not like they're going to ask those five offensive linemen. Hey Hey you guys just hold up by yourself to the point. That report that rex made earlier. You need eleven good players on defense. It's the same sort of thought in places like deeper the play. If you get a sack back that's great. That's all fine and good but if they make a big play is worth six points. So that's the thing that makes me nervous about Patrick Mahomes specifically. I don't think I think we're underselling. Casey Defensive Front. They're gonNA get pressure also. They're great pass defense. They're gonNA pressure also Garoppolo. I'm more scared of what happens. Garoppolo under pressure. I am what happened to mahomes under pressure. I'll give you an example. The last last time faced an offense like this was the greatest show in Turkey. Yeah Isaac Bruce Torry Holt. Kurt Warner all those guys Marshall Faulk. Here's what we did we play. Cover two zone defense. We rushed him and we hear that. So I play the game. Dared Brooks broke torry Holt. Rea- okay Jesus. He didn't. He hit him. Hit guys. MOCO mcco Hardiman. Sammy Watkins. These guys they want to play basketball on grass. They don't WanNa play football at its core which is.

"Build a team that can rush the passer in the fourth quarter. That's what he was the first guy that would have nine ten defensive lineman. I'm an active for games. San Francisco is the only team with nine. ACT The defense alignment and by the way. Five of those guys are former first round picks so they had the depth to get after it when most teams that can't see place they can't stay with it and so that's why like the forty niners here. The also said to me that you have to have eleven good players on defense and you don't have to have eleven good ones on offense. So maybe they're not quite as explosive as Kansas. City is on opposites opposites but they did score more points in the regular season. Are we just going to ignore the fact that this team's a balanced football team I think in the end they win. We'll give credit to this degree. You're the first person I heard on. Our show starts singing the praises of the Fort and early this season week. Five you said to me. They're the best team in the NFL. And you've never backed off so you were on San in Francisco long before most people were on the right and I just see that those fax it. It's a complete team the ability to run the football with multiple bags and by the way they're passing thing is really underrated and then on defense. They've been absolutely terrific. Let me get in here. Who's going to win this game? And more importantly why I respect the hell. Out of William Walsh K. Okay I think I also respect your brain defensive guy you have to go at the defensive team but in twenty twenty here in Super Bowl fifty four the game skewed towards an offense a football game. I mean that's just the way it is the five of the last seven super bowl. Hit the over offense wins championships. This point and there's been no offense as of late that has been as efficient as the Kansas City chiefs..

"From Miami Beach this Tuesday evening Super Bowl Week Recording this late in the evening I've got three guests for you this this week get breadth each Kansas City chiefs general manager. He's the man who did the most other than Andy Reid. Obviously who made the draft draft pick. But he's the man who did the most to bring Patrick Mahomes to the Kansas City chiefs. And I'll explain why he'll explain. Why in this podcast? We'll also have Matt Maiocco. Covers the San Francisco. Forty niners for NBC. Sports Bay area and I added this after listening. The Kyle Shanahan speak on Monday night media. Night I. It's about what the New England Patriots and San Francisco. Forty niners did did when the transaction of Jimmy Garoppolo of the quarterback from New England going to San Francisco for a second round draft choice. We're GONNA delve into that a little bit with Mayo an curren because I just found it a very very interesting story when Kyle Shanahan started talking about at this on Monday night at Marlins Park where they're holding media night but before we get into it I'm GonNa make my super bowl pick. I'm picking the chiefs to win thirty eighty to twenty eight when Mike Florio told me this week that the line was one and a half. I said okay. Kansas City twenty nine and a half San Francisco Twenty eight I think it's going to be a fairly high scoring game. I think that this is easily one of the toughest super bowls That there has been to pick in recent years and maybe ever because I think either team could win this game by fourteen points or more. I just think that especially if Jimmy Garoppolo which none of us know if Jimmy Garoppolo can rebound and be a big factor in this game. I think that San inference iskoe easily could score in the high twenties or thirties against Kansas City. Just a few reasons for For My pick now I do expect the Jimmy Garoppolo whose only thrown fourteen passes in the last six quarters. While basically they've run the forty niners have run seventy seven percent of the time in the last six quarters and that I'm not saying I I don't think that Kyle Shanahan is GonNa lean on Garoppolo here. It's just that I don't know what to expect Jimmy Garoppolo in this game. I don't know that anyone one could know what to expect that Jimmy Garoppolo because he's been invisible for the last game and a half essentially. I don't blame the San Francisco Forty niners over the last six quarters. They rushed for six point two yards per carry and like I said my columnist week in football morning in America. If you you can rush for six point two yards per carry. Wouldn't you keep running it and I think where I land on this for. Everybody says Amana petrified about Garoppolo. I would be concerned about it but I will also remember this or I'll remind you this the team that had the toughest three game stretch in the NFL. This year was the San Francisco Forty niners when they had green bay at home and then at Baltimore and at New Orleans and I just thought that far and away this was going to be the toughest three-game stretch anybody had so Garoppolo quarterback the niners in those three games. He won two of them mm-hmm. He completed seventy two percent of his throws in those three games. Seven touchdowns one interception ten point one yards per tempt that is an excellent stat in an excellent Thing for Kyle Shanahan to come back to if if anybody he any point You know in his in his fan base or even in his locker room would question. Now Jimmy Garoppolo I think Kyle Shanahan has all the evidence he needs to say. This guy is going to throw the ball early and often on Sunday and we think he'll be fine so at the end end of the day. You probably say okay. Well then why didn't you pick the forty niners and I didn't pick the forty niners because I believe that Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in football all at throwing the ball when pressured and obviously he's GonNa face the defensive front with the best ability to pressure the quarterback of any team even football however since Patrick mahomes entered the National Football League incense is let's let's take it since the beginning of the two two thousand eighteen season Patrick Mahomes when he has to throw the ball in two point. Five seconds or less he has the best most passer rating in football. He's the most efficient quarterback in football. Why do I say two point? Five seconds or less that essentially is the line line of demarcation. It's not an official stat. But basically if you get to the quarterback in two point five seconds you're doing a great great job in the San Francisco Forty niners in these playoffs. Incredibly EV- averaged getting to the quarterback getting to pardon me kirk cousins and Aaron Rogers. They they've gotten to to to those quarterbacks very very efficiently and often and the average time to throw in the first two playoff games those guys two point five seconds so they've done a very good job and they'll do a good job against Patrick Mahomes. The question is will mahomes is be able to make the plays off his regular Throwing schedule off platform so to speak. Will he be able to make enough of those plays. I believe that he will. So I like the chiefs narrowly but please I beg. You do not take that to the bank. I am. Perhaps the worst predictor in all of the news media when it comes to trying to pick big games. So Oh let's get to our conversations this week we're going to start with Brett. Vh the Kansas City chiefs. General Manager who I think has has done an excellent job in short short time you know either atop personnel or being the GM. He replaced John. Dorsey after Dorsey was dismissed. A couple a couple of years ago so I think that Brett V. has very good institutional knowledge of where exactly Patrick Mahomes came from with.

"Look at the chiefs twenty eighteen draft class. I mean you look at the six players Derek. Nadi clearly the best player right now the best value all you in round three one. Ask another question about him. How much do you think he benefited from? Just being able to play by fire with Exhibitor Williams basically not being able to rotate and may eh been able just to dig in there. You think. That's a big part to do with it. I think that you ought to have something to do with it. I also think maybe just developing playing a little faster mentally within the steam engines game it coming from the Torri four into this vagner. Fortunately that asks him to play some the three types as well as some one tax so this is going to be a situation where Keith gotta be able to check and understand a lot of the things of but it seems like all of those guys within the past three weeks kind of gotten brother processing all of that faster developing it fast. You don't eat. Many explosive. Plays outside of those running back passes Soggy Green Bay and some of the screens against Minnesota. But up for an in the run game those guys yeah just seem to be cooking playing a little more together and just a lot more gas out and I think that has just come a time. Certainly help save your Williams wasn't able to play you get more snaps Craig. The defenses on the right track. Patrick Mahomes is on his way back. I think we all got to start thinking a little bit more about January again. I know that there was a stretch where we weren't. We were all stressing out. But what is your biggest concern with this defense In in January in January as currently really constructive. What's your biggest fear in the biggest situations down the stretch I think live coverage is probably the biggest real stressor to me these? No this week did a good job kind of flexing and working on the checks he had Anthony Hitchens chins calling audibles checking different coverages and free flowing guys around in the secondary. Make sure everybody's on the same page to that might get cleaned up a little bit more. The cornerbacks.

Dot Com and the three and chiefs have turned their attention to the Detroit lions are set to play noon Arrowhead time at Ford Field in Detroit great and this'll be a quick episode of from the podium because only Andy Reid and Patrick mahomes spoke from the podium on Wednesday so we'll start with the chiefs head coach. Here's Andy Reid read from the podium. The guys won't practice today or fish and tyreek. Damian Williams also be the practice before the challenge of playing Detroit. We know their football team. They're undefeated right now doing in a two and a half of my Matt Patricia these joint changed and their personnel players coaches playing hard aggressive football. Sorry guys are starting to get back in and make sure we study him and go go through a phase. We need to go through before we collect money that line for football. What about what what they're doing is really incredible. They play they've got a good scheme and then they play hard and tackle well. They've been living off turnovers on defense and now says of festively. They're scoring points so you gotTa make sure you stay on top of that. You've got you've got quarterback that has been around awhile and goes the game. They've got some guys that can also put the special teams who do took a job. Two turnovers are turnovers count but there's maybe a little difference between did go get it and then someone making a mistake making a living my actually take it away and things they're doing forcing them to tackle the ball and the ball ball comes out and and so yeah fumbles have been one thing about a couple of interceptions then there so that's all so far mentioned engined malnutrition obsolete kick from those though check and talking about big. That's your guy. How how long does it take for you to find who you are. You're always going to be influenced by came up with but what did you like reading reading to. Not You know Oh baby. I'm a smart elegant and so yeah I mean you. Develop your own thing. You put your name on it and you go you do it. As a player you doing as a coach in any profession where so normally starts aren't right way. You can't help but if you're copying somebody then the players re through that particular when player comes it was somewhere or else and then you've got problems so you've got to be yourself but he's done that. He's not nice job. He had a big responsibility with New England being coordinator for a number of years and he was so and I think he's kind of put his own mark movies. Those three released between Steve's Today. We sort of rotating was eight guys in these. I just how you feel it. The ideal yeah yeah you try to keep fresh throw fastballs in there. I think it's good to get some as young experience in there. Too pays off free down the down the road but I think are playing fast and aggressive. They seem to have a good grasp of the concepts mm skinny and we're trying to do so when the shop became available. You noted that he still showed a bear stocktake added for a few weeks different now than last yeah. He's got gray hair but he still has the vision in the shifty. He's never the fastest guy in the Orley fast enough but not that's not his game is gave him a great vision and an ability to move they still has he's got a burst. I catch pretty. We're not asking him to go. Every downed probably did that more in Philadelphia than what we're doing now so I I can't answer that part because he's he's in a rotation so But the vision and the feeder a the rookie receiver you've had with more through three games and go hardin Sean Jackson. UC makeup wise you know whether it's physical or mental that's kind of comparable to those took is our all legs little short torso long legs which is interesting unique and they don't. They don't now way at time. You put them on a scale. They're not going to be like one of our legs so it's but they could run and run fast and they both have a good feel for the game. Both of them are smart guys. Johnsboro smart kid wants typical Williams taking his opportunity yeah now so he played for us last year kind of the same type role and he's just kind of Mr consistent instant tough again. He's a smart kid so he knows everything protection wise. It's gone on patient runner. He goes he's GonNa. He's GonNa hit you. Bring a lot of hardaway behind him so he can shoulder down and get you a couple of extra hours there any the You seem to be pretty impressed today with coys ability to self right he played last week. He'd do anything above and beyond. was there something about what compared himself last week. I think it's just a willingness to spend time here. You know just stained and worked as well those injuries in the morning work at the better given it takes a lot of time and effort you got to kind of push through some things there that and he did he worked it and as a result he is able to play but I think it's a good example a certain injuries. You can't do that with this one that you can't and you're not going to hurt your career career. Your or your future to be able to walk is not just the time over the years is just one of those guys can push through some stuff. That's a tough position place. You'RE GONNA take a few hits now. He's quick enough and vision comes in handy so he knows is when you get down and then when to drop his shoulder and try and get extra yards but he's been pretty good with that you know from even when radio's young limit some of the unnecessary hit suggest to take on defense. Some of your stats are already better the last year but I'm from coach said the other day. He thanked the turnoff to come from coaches. Be What do you see. It tells you that this tanking get down. We're so oh close. I mean you see or were right there. We'll get our hands on the ball or were hesitant in some some areas to go. Get the ball and I mean there's small things and so I look at that and I go. Hey you give that a little time. You Trust those exchange and you've been league. I've seen it before so you know that's gotTa Company. That's earth Kerr things like warp speed out there so it's happening right now in real time and one of those things where you have to do it you gotta keep. I'm doing it and then it just becomes second nature so the improvement. The expectancy is mostly other things well no but that was so yeah. Turn turn so I'm saying that turnover is you'll see improvement in that area. If we have opportunities like the ones we've had or created opportunities like the ones we have so by putting yourself in the right position and but I think overall you're gonNA more. They planted planet. You better get who you mentioned making more coming from his days with the Patriots where some of the challenges I'm just for you as a play caller and also the game clinger knowing that you working when it gets guy who does like the scheme he's very good at it and and so you can say well they played man coverage here but they might come on Blake over to the next game so you don't know and so you make sure that you cover all the bases with you guys and he's got like I said the scheme that they've got is their base game is tremendous and then they can go different directions but I can tell by disciplined as guys are and I know that defense well enough what they're asking them to do you and and they're doing those things sound looks like the players trust and believe in color coded from a company standpoint. How big of a big frank ticket that I I mean it was good. It was good sack. I mean as much as he's doubled in keeps fighting through it. I think that's where I look at it. I mean I'm not into all the staff stuff at how many actually gets but being around the quarterback and then having him finally an opportunity to tackle. That's a good thing just a couple of good running backs up. This is another workload back. Have you worked lives. How critical tone early lower yours to carry. That's what you do. I mean the players want to do that. Way And the coaches want to do it that way so they work on it. I I just always give credit also to the team for a reason if they're good and tell you they're good the number one offense the number two defense is not like they're. GonNa win a lot of games and so good football team news emotional times fired up times baby chat and Chambas leaves teammates thing or something that he needs to get more more confident offer. Maybe a little bit more animated. He's he's been that way. I mean he's he's competitive and he's a leader Combat Punch and he's the one that's on the field and so he wants certain things out of the play as a player you got to get those those things done and so and that's were my trust in him and the other coaches trusted him comes in the these you make sure you demand the right things. Obviously you're in the game and he's very good with that. I mean that's one of his strengths so he's got that natural leadership ability and and he doesn't get job with. I think it weighs it. Well you do every every play. Just GonNa turn you but I think he's got a good show. For of course you can throw the ball tied into the first happened. must the second half run the ball. Pounds is their philosophical thing on every plane with the lead. Is there a certain waiting start trying to maybe get a little more conservative play calling situation. I probably tell you situation difference with that. In mind off feel so that's chiefs head coach. Andy Ndi read from the podium and you could tell he he's in a good mood. He's really excited that the chiefs for three and enrolling here but he's also focused on the Detroit Lions Matt Apper Tricia Really defensive-minded head coach from that Bill Belichick tree they really liked to run the football and he made some good comments about the defensive line rotation and how well that's been working out for the chiefs as far as defense. The defense is coming along. I found the compliments on the running backs interesting really highly complimentary of Shawn McCoy and Daryl Williams and what I found particularly interesting about it. This week is that read is going going above and beyond to commend Leshan McCoy for pushing through that ankle injury and that could just be a compliment for him but I wonder if there's more to it because Damian Williams has now been out for two weeks running. I'm talking to you right now. On Wednesday night he missed practice today. That's the fourth straight practice missed and read really said he was proud of McCoy. The thirty one on your old who sounded like did extra treatment to get back on the field. You wonder if there's an extra message that he's sending to perhaps another player on on the team the player at the same position it does make you wonder all right after the break. We're GONNA keep from the podium rolling with cheese quarterback. Patrick mahomes will be right back. Check out the American Ninja Warrior podcast for a behind the scenes. "Was getting a little bit of work in there and learn that part so that kind of player in this offense becomes you know ends up being a valuable if he can do both it's a valuable position couple more coach n._f._l. Films uh-huh carrying a film on sundays from including behind him and you know the family pretty. Well your thoughts on the project. Yeah well i. I got a taste of it at the owner media so so i'm believable i mean everybody was in tears. It was it was crazy stories. I mean you you gotta see it. It's just one of those. You've gotta see deals. It's it was phenomenal capture. I'm sure the whole audience and <hes> you know it was <hes> jagged did <hes> she did the <hes> <hes> narration or the the questions and answers airmont. We call that monitor monitor. She was the monitor so she did a great job with it and <hes> and then the ladies they just they were able to express express himself in the history. The history is phenomenal. Some of the stories are just unbelievable was the worst but <hes> we'll see on that yeah. We haven't even got there yet. Yeah i'm not that far along <hes> in this over kind of getting through through all this and then we'll see. How do you feel that your team just just in general terms where you are right now where you need to be yeah i i love the attitude and the work that they're putting in. I appreciate that <hes> we we shelve away this ago. We gotta keep working <hes> but there there were doing some good things and but we gotta keep built. You know you gotta keep. It's it's early yet and <hes> and you gotta keep your foot on. The foot on the gas. Got blank like everything out. I put everything aside here and go play and so that's what this this groups have been doing that. So far and i appreciate that part is that she's head coach. Andy reid from his press availability on tuesday. He welcomes jeff allen and the anthony thomas back to the team and you could hear it in his voice. He really doesn't think there's going to be too much of a transition for these these guys who know the offense to dive right back in and get up to speed in the twenty nineteen version including patrick mahomes mccoll hartman and some of the other different things that now exists exist. I found two points interesting in this press conference. Cam irving had been working as a starting left guard on tuesday. I thought it was interesting. That read said eh. He's just trying to mix him. With andrew. Wylie andrew wylie had been the starting left guard all training camp so this was a little bit odd but reid said he just wants to get the two players experience at both positions so the way. I look at it as this. If one of the tackles eric fisher or mitch schwartz goes down does it make more sense for the chiefs used to put andrew wylie at tackle and slide cam irving in than it does to just put cam irving and tackle is he better as a guard than a tackle. I tend tend to think that wiley is still a starter but the chiefs are just trying some things out and that makes sense to do at this time of the season. I also thought it was interesting and you heard my question to read about trauma smith that she's reworking shimon smith as a wide receiver now a member. He came as a cornerback transition to a running back. He was working as a wide receiver on on tuesday and it's just a chief trying to see what they have. In smith. I think with thomas now added to the roster smith making the team becomes more difficult because he served the chiefs chiefs as a backup returner where we've seen anthony thomas run as a backup returner before he was actually a starting returner on this team over the past few years so that certainly hurts the chances of tremont smith are we're gonna keep it moving here with the quarterback of your chiefs. Here's patrick mahomes from the podium. Media got a new face out there kind of during back danny..

"And so often their timing isn't quite as good or you know, they are used to being able to do things based on raw ability that. Quarterbacks who think or react quicker? Are able to do with a lesser arm. I mean, I think Patrick is a pretty quick thinker. You know, he hasn't even started sixteen games. He hasn't been exposed to expose to too much yet. And you know, he reads defenses phenomenally well for where he is in his career. But he still hasn't even played a year yet. How do you think though, as we what we see in? What we experience how do you think though in even with the lead eleven, you know, going back to high school, how can an arm like that sort of be kept under wraps like in this in this world where you know, when basketball and in football like there are publications out there Seth that. Like here are the top seventh graders. I mean, this is crazy like it seems that having someone be a hidden gem. Like that is with what we're talking about. Like that sort of skill set. It seems almost impossible it does. But you know, football just cannot it cannot get out of its own way with. Comes to evaluate in quarterbacks. I mean, it just can't and the NFL was still a developmental league. I mean Aaron Rodgers Tom Brady drew Brees. Those guys are not the same player that they were when they entered the league. And so, you know, it's the biggest mystery is like why did the bears? Think Trubisky was the superior prospect into Patrick Mahomes. Why John Elway who's sitting there watching Patrick Mahomes? Throw kind of like a younger version of Elway himself. Not realize what was there in pick him? An and try to make a move to get himself. It's one of those things that I just don't think will ever be explained. But I think like. You know at the end of the day. It's like we do what we can to try to break down quarterbacks. Like a technician would break down and engine. When in fact, the sort of human spirit is much bigger deal than we ever make it out to be your one admit, and we can't predict for it right to the point that it seems that if you are willing to run the circuit and put your brand out there in in today's day and age where everything's a brand every person's brand, it seems that the people who are willing to brand themselves. The most like, oh, I'll go on your show and your show, and I'll talk this, and I'll be real personable about it. It seems that actually in that period of time. Everyone's making decisions means more than what someone can actually physically do totally. And I mean again, but with Patrick it's weird because he could physically do so many things, and I think that maybe Pat people just saw him as nothing more than having this. Great arm and didn't want trust, Texas. Techs often production, but he landed in a perfect situation because you look at some of these players who, you know, Alex Smith comes to mind, but he had I think five coordinators in his first five years. You know, you need stability. You just you look at Baker Mayfield. He's already going to be year behind because next year hub whole new offense coordinator, he'll be learning. Whole new things a whole new language and Patrick went to a safe destination. Yet, you know, he got to sit a year, and he's working with one of the most innovative coaches the past twenty years who's not going anywhere that we're aware of. And you mention Matt Ryan how Matt Ryan's career seems to have been flow with the consistency of his coordinators. Yeah. Without a doubt. I mean, you look at what Kyle Shanahan is doing in San Francisco, and you look at what Kyle Shanahan didn't Matt Ryan with Matt Ryan what they were able to do together. It's just obvious that coaching matters. Yes. Well, like you say we'll see if this. He already has a Patrick Mahomes has some of his uniforms and his young career in canton. And we'll see if he can keep going and end up with a jacket of his own up there. All right, man. Seth thank you again. Thank you. "All right. We're back for our third and final segment of the show this time. I'm gonna tell you why Patrick Mahomes is the NFL's best young quarterback. We're gonna put two minutes on the clock. We're going to open up the rap air horn app, and we're going to go right now. So all hyperbole aside, we haven't seen another quarterback enter the NFL with the physical traits of Patrick Mahomes in recent memory, we've seen guys who can throw the ball. We've seen guys who understood the game. We haven't seen this level of the two of them put together. His upside is in just the best under twenty five quarterback in the league. Stuff like that is just a pit stop on the way to Pat Mahomes establishing themselves as one of the best quarterbacks. Overall in the National Football League, I feel. That's a feat I believe he'll accomplish within the next twenty eight months. Andy Reid and the chiefs were aggressive in their draft. They pursued within the homes a couple years ago and inland again and doing so they created one of the most ideal situations for quarterback to grow and evolve within the National Football League. First of all, getting to sit back and learn from Alex Smith last year was invaluable. We live in this era were quarterbacks are expected to come in and play immediately seems like regardless of where your pick third round picks are starting games as rookies in the NFL. It's crazy being thrust into the lineup too quickly and having their growth stunted as a result Mahomes received low pressure. And he had this masterclass in quarterback play from Alex Smith last year, a guy who is largely considered to be one of the smartest quarterbacks in the NFL. He got a chance to play in a game that wasn't so important. Last year he got his feet wet, and now he's being handed the keys to an explosive chiefs offense that is take. Tailored directly for his strengths. Greg's going to talk about a lot of quarterbacks. Some of whom are admittedly very, very talented, but none of whom who possessed the combination of football intelligence and pure physical tools that Mahomes has his arm. Strength is once in a generation and it's make up for the quarterback position isn't far behind. So I'm going to, I'm going to give you the fact that. Mahomes certainly certainly got the benefit of being able to sit out for an entire year and really learn. But then I'm going to say, this is one game. This is one game with against one team like the chargers that doesn't exactly scream defense at you, and I understand he has a ton of weapons. Tyreek hill is basically a video game when you watch him play. But I need a bigger sample size to say that he's the best QB under twenty five. And there's two guys who I really kind of focused in on. One has mall ish sample size, but the other has a much bigger one. The first one that I'm going to talk about is the Shawn Watson, the Texans quarterback coming off an injury didn't look great yesterday. But when you talk about the highlight reel that he put together in the games that he played before going down with that unfortunate injury, he was a fantasy owner's dream. He was a dynamic mobile quarterback who could hit deep balls and do anything that you had to do to get his team into the end zone. Now, obviously, coming off the tough thing to recover from, and it obviously gives him a little bit of a hindrance. But the Shawn Watson is only twenty two years old. He's come back from knee injuries before in his collegiate career high school, all that stuff. He's the guy that knows how to rehab it and knows that he what he has to do to get himself back to that elite level that we saw in those games and knows record wasn't great, but that's not all on him. A lot of that is on the Texans. The guy knows how to put up points. The second that I'm going to talk about is a guy in Jared Goff at twenty three years old. The number one overall pick from just a few years ago ended up leading the Los Angeles Rams to a division title as year a first round playoff exit. But let's be real first time in the postseason. It's a much different much different game in the playoffs. The pressures all there, but it's a really good entry into a situation for him where he's loaded around him..
