"Only made six career starts but one of them resulted in a victory in the kentucky derby and burst onto the racing. Cd twenty five years ago this month with a win in the louisiana derby. His name was grindstone. A foal from the first crop of nineteen ninety kentucky derby winner dreidel rhinestones was owned and bred by lexington kentucky. He returned to the races with a runner-up relation allowance company at santa anita in february of nineteen ninety-six to start his three-year-old campaign. Despite having made just three career starts grindstone went to new orleans on march seventeen for the great three louisiana derby at a mile and a sixteen despite having nothing more than a maiden special weight victory to his name. Rhinestone was dispatched the two to one second choice behind local favorites arbs magic and it was arbs. Maverick stood and rhinestones way in the final furlong. Tony bentley had. "Lot to him. It is a thing like in comedy, you know, Eddie help, Chris, Chris Martin like you just know, the lineage of stuff in his heart, because I don't think we know that when it comes to. Producing or directors and black film. You know, people always say, James, you might have said this to I felt like. Had a scholarship to help doubt. Chadwick bozeman writing somebody tweeted that he had a scholarship that did help out tablet bozeman, but it wasn't like he not the same. It's not the same thing where you go. Eddie helped out, so and so yes, because it's not like Denzel Washington was like, yeah. We gotta look out for Chadwick bozeman. It was just like I have the scholarship. And it benefited. Chadwick bozeman. Yeah. You know, it's a little different. It's a little less. It's, it's not like you know, it's not like Eddie happened to see somebody that he thought was good. And then he put them on Denzel was like there could be somebody out there who could benefit from this. Here's a scholarship. I'm sorry. I I just I get upset. No, no, no. It is a tough thing, because the thing is, is like I have this, like, there's this, the article somebody sent to me, which is funny, just like send it like like shoes wrong. But I mean literally, it says that, while studying at Howard University in the late nineties, bozeman and some of his peers applied to prestigious summer theatre program at the university of Oxford, the group of students got in, but they couldn't afford to go one of their acting teachers at Howard flea. Rashad. Pushed for us. She essentially got some celebrity friends to pay for us. It wasn't until after the program when he got a beneficiary letter and found out who funded the program. It was done wash. Washington, and he says Denzel paid for me. I'm sure he has no idea. I've been waiting to meet him, so I can tell them. I mean that's. No. That's great. That's awesome. Rashad came to so fluid Rashaad was the one who is like help these people, and then talk to Denzel, and then they'll did it. And that's great. You know. But I think what Lena wait the socking about is different. She's talking about funded. She's talking about financing indie films. She's talking about literally people like looking out for up and coming black directors actors, you know, looking for those tours and then support, and then literally supporting them giving them a shot. And she's is tricky, because I mean again, low key brab black Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. They all hit like you know what I'm saying? Like they are out here plan b dip company has funded at least two of the most important black films in the last ten to fifteen years. I mean so visa slaving moonlight like those are the two black films. Have won Academy Awards. You know what I mean? Right. And so, but people were talking about ten tell. Has probably helped, you know, with with certain things, especially movies. He's in, like Antoine Fisher. I think the great degree debate is there's and. And Will Smith has overbook overbook Overbrook Overbrook productions, which most of their slate are like whoa Smith, films, or Jaden movies, or, but he has had he did like the secret life of bees, which I didn't know that. Yeah, I'll do. That's what overbook did. It's not that they don't do that many year. They probably they only they only average about like two year. Thank or one or two year. I mean my thing I when we were talking about this off. Mike, I kept also bringing up Denzel Washington's involvement with August. Wilson's plays in like and for me, it's like you know, all of that has taken a really long time. Like he's been talking about it for a long time. And it's taken like, you know, nearly a decade for, for all of this stuff to be panning out the way that it has. And from a film standpoint, it's like he's only done the movie fences and then now they're doing that. Marange black bottom thing for net flicks. And so it's just taken a long time. But like it's like an yes, no, that's not indie film. And that's not producing a ton of indie films. But like, it's probably very hard to get backing for like a play to be made to, you You know..

So let's explain exactly what the situation was. Last year, she been about good as an infant, and when she came to she had already identified her birth mother, but she needed some assistance in figuring out Overbrook father was obviously she had a positive experience with the birth mother. I am assuming Jere experience and whereas interested in excited to try and identify her birth father side of the family as well drained expand family circle. And so why was she struggling with it? Obviously, she did pretty well and tracking down the birth. Mom. Does she use more conventional ways or was it when she got into DNA? She found herself a little overhead. I think so. Yeah. Because she had tested, a member of different places, and she saw Santa Morgan's and possible relationships and everything and there's just so much data the sips through so many possible relationships all of these people that she didn't know she didn't know how to pull all of it together to tell her what she was really. Looking at sure okay header birth mother. Given her any clues as to the birth. Father's identity. Did she gave her two names of very likely Burke father, pointing it actually gone out identified the Cendant of both of these individuals, and they had agreed to DNA testing. And the results came back as no match for both of them. Oh, so she was really stymied on overdone could be because her mom was offering. No, more information. Well, yeah. Those are those challenging times people don't want to look back. So what happened? Now, you had several different pools. She was fishing in as far as the DNA goes. And where did you get something to work with? Tested, my heritage ancestry couple.

So Nick would start going up where I was going up, but he was doing other people's jokes because he didn't know and I go, Nick, you can't do that. That's so and so's, oh, he goes, I saw last night on compu-. I thought it was funny and Ono you can't do that. He just didn't know. Yeah. So then he start honing his act and we wrote up together to Oakland, the bay area blackout competition and on their forget. Nick went up and that's where Disney reps was air to Nickelodeon was air and then Nick. That's how that's how the groundswell start happening was that they had real exempts back then. That was different. That was a different time in this business? Yes. When you got discovered and you got like a half a million deal dollar deal pulled out. Yeah. So that's how Nick that's how you know how he really got started and getting his name out there in the business was the Nickelodeon, the warm up, and that was the same year ninety. One ninety nine was the one festival I've done was Montreal in ninety nine and I don't remember getting chicken. Michael room, of course. Remember, chick, you know, kill you commit suicide a couple years ago. I got to be dead honest with you. If I was gonna make a project, I'd make a documentary on that guy because that I got my deal. I got my first deal when he got his deal, Montreal that year I got it. I wouldn't even wouldn't even at Montreal. I was I gotta deal through Overbrook who had miss who had to deal with Nick cannon at the time. Yeah, and I had a deal where that's only resign new ever knew. Nakano was was a, he had. Overbrook Overbrook. David Dr was like, we got this kid at cannon. He's like the next, we'll, we'll Smith. He's good looking. He's hilarious. And so but chicken got his deal ching fat deal off Montreal. And he could not do stand up. I was there. I saw how go down. It's crazy. Like I saw the Nick cannon should happen. Not happen, but I saw the exemption the way looked. Yeah, they give you a look and they act like you're not around. He just you're just quiet in the room. They be to the guy, and chicken was a mantra was, and I did. I didn't new faces embalmed the bombs rate was it was brutal limited, my much experience and we'll get into chicken in a second, but I didn't new faces and I was the first guy on the first show of the festival. So I go up. It's like six PM. It's daylight out. Renan's plays golf clubs, soda. I've been there for me and I looked in the audience. Was really old really white, and you know, I'm kind of an urban guy. Have you always been urban Nellie? It was. It was. I had to like always say, I'm not pandered out, but I'm playing to them because if I'm doing Showtime at the Apollo, I'm not talking about Garth Brooks. Yeah. And if I'm doing the West Virginia state fair, I'm not talking about little Wayne, so I am not pandering, but I'm making sure my material released that audience. Yeah, it's the same thing I do. I've read the audience now. It's different than when I first started, but yeah, when you're young, so so I go up and Dahmer. Air was hosted and Dom. Ding get a lot of laughs either, and I go, wow, they're not really laughing. Dominoes. I'm gonna Dom like almost a God like, okay. Yeah, I'm good. And then I went up there and I was with CA at the time in my age is was like, I literally told them almost which my act up. They're not going to get my jokes like this is an audience. They go into new. You do the five minutes you've been working on you trust us. We got TV exacts here. You just trying to get your point of view across. "Yeah, to to help them defray the cost or say to an investor lie. Like your, this is why this is going to work. This is why you're gonna make your money back. So there's you have to remember that there's a huge divide between the between what an audience is looking for and like who feels underrepresented and like, why wouldn't you put, you know a trans woman in a role to play a trans woman and people who are taking the risk who are getting the money from people who are taking the risk and who are justifying that risk? Are those people who are putting in money per chance old white Len just. I could be way off the still trying to figure out who. Yeah, yeah. Just like just all. Well, I think it's it's and that's the the dirty little secret of Hollywood. It's like if you can bankroll the dirty little secret, there's only one. There's only one and like the, I think the most important one is like, if you can Bank at you can make it right. So it's like if you can get somebody who has a bone to pick who like wants to make the thing about Asians or make the thing about women or make the thing about black women, then you make the movie. But these are very, very high risk endeavors. You have to be willing to like lose the money. You have to remember that to market a film. So even if you make a movie for under five million, it's like to market the peon a on that movie is like another twenty million. So that movie needs to make over like twenty five million, which is why you're seeing so many movies on Netflix, it's it's p. I try to remind myself. It's like people aren't meaning to be sexist and racist. They are following a business model out of fear and it leads to them looking sexist and racist, right? It's not that like mine going to be sexist and racist today. It's like, I'm, I'm afraid I'm looking at the business models that exist. Before me, it's not worth my job to take the risk or be the one to put myself on the front lines, and that's why I don't want to take these bets, but that's why it's so insidious, right? Because we nobody thinks that it's their fault and everybody. A lot of the people who are like, wow, we should be less. You know, we, the Royal we, that which always doesn't include the person talking about it. We should be less sexist and racist sexist and sexism and racism is bad, but they, it doesn't occur to them that they're people that are perpetuating it. And the reason it perpetuates is because it's so mundane, it's it's not something that people think of it is. There's a mundane one article that I did like there was, I think I sent it to both of you guys was the vulture article where they were talking about to all the boys. I loved before, no, spoilers. Yeah. No, no, no, no, no, I haven't watched it yet. No, I know spoiler but that was the Netflix movie that came out with an Asian American girl in the lead and like it got a little bit of heat on Twitter and social media, and people were saying, it's the first like good rom com that Netflix has released, and it's really striking to see an Asian American. Girl is a lead. It's based on a book property and the the author was saying that she really wanted to keep the integrity of the lead being Asian American and only one production company was willing to do that again, very high risk for the production companies, but I believe it was Overbrook entertainment, which is will Smith's company. So again, somebody with a tremendous amount of power, you know, it's like, I don't know if any of those people listen, but it's like you need front runners like those to say that, you know, we, we can make a viable change. We believe that heroes can look like something else. And hopefully when people continue voting with their money at the box office, there becomes more of a track record over time and that is going to help you make a case to continue moving in that direction..

"To them again not that way got what we want to programme arsala embassy had again that it would that's in overbrook with pandora and everything else and what people listen to music wise night exact one us programme what we want to hear when we want to hear it exactly and it's different with you know um certain opinions if you're going to go read an opinion and the new york times or listen to talk radio or whatever it is it's like i said about church while you're actually showing up to give preach to you actually showing up at an an and act case and you're showing up you know for that but when you show up in this programming and you're looking for i dunno an exciting programme or whatever it is and then all of a sudden that tone is there that someone or group is someone's doing the programming to you and i think people are pretty much done with that type of programming of it like me when i when i want to listen to my rage against the machine and i want to hear the marxists socialist agenda being promoted yeah too hard music right and i want to hear that that's where i i i just i wonder if this quickly here because whenever we get into talking about you know a tariff says we have been it gets it gets emotional and i thought this was really interesting because it was a national review but it was uh this was written by it was a co authored by um uh larry kudlow art laugher and and steve moore who really was uh president trump's uh economic campaign main economic campaign adviser for 2016 and and they did a piece in the national review on basically tariffs are taxes i thought it was interesting because you have all three of those that have supported donald trump in a variety of ways and i and i think people need to understand because whenever you know again you you we brought this up before we don't get his money much criticism as we did during the campaign from trump supporters so i think you know they understand where we're coming from but i think that they they bring up a great point that i just want to.

"A number one is also different from the other five a raise in this case it's not the same template news doesn't have the official philadelphia police department header up talk and that's because teheran's didn't actually have any kind of criminal record which means the police didn't have any photos of him on hand that they could be used for this lineup instead they went to terrence a school overbrook high school and got a student id photo along with the student ids of seven other boys their small photos and not very clear terence's number seven of all the photos maybe only two of them look like they're boys that could be seventeen or eighteen and one of those is terrence but the other six they look like photos of kids it seems like they have to be freshman some of them look fourteen years old barely enough being generous involve the photos cairns is obviously letter skin and the other boys in the photos which means his picture kind of stands out he is for sure the only boy in the lineup that could be seventeen or eighteen with lightskinned the way start ascribed it in original statement so yeah adds his photo that the police want her to choose and she does not a stink an absolutely sure at least that's what she said according to the handwritten notes the detectives than show star to more raise may have eight photos on them each each of the young black man roughly from eighteen maybe 25 years old i don't know which of these photos are the ones that were included on purpose the ones the cost picked out in hopes star would i do some one in which voters are just filler to pad out the rest of the lineup but apparently started than either because she doesn't identify anyone in them for both the raise when asked if she recognizes anyone she says no.

"He he will probably be streamed a timer to this season let me ask you one more follow at there does it affect isaiah crowe well to have kaiser behind center overbrook or kessler isaiah carell yeah i mean usually when you've got a running quarterback at opens things up a little bit more now kaiser has the ability to run but he isn't necessarily a you know a running quarterback that since yeah i mean so i i think it i think it helps grow well in that same vein it could actually hurt do johnson a little bit because kaiser is much more of a down the field type of past thrower not necessarily when he came in hebron he was he was keeping a short he was keeping it tight right by the line to scream yeah it would be great if we had more i think that's you know people are as what are we watch for in preseason here's what you want to watch for in preseason week three w with kaiser gets that start is he checking the ball down is he looking to run early is he looking downfield because his tendencies you know those natural tendency is i think those will give us clues into should we look at this the field stretcher more or the you know the the running back with a check down running back which which option obviously who the quarterback is is going to have a tremendous effect on the fancy output for the rest of the team all right out of tampa the expectation is that seems will operate as the passing down at down back i want people to remember charles simms was a.
