"I don't want to get way too much too. But now the good trend. How did you get that part? How did I get that part? You know, they contacted my manager and offering me the role, and how long ago, did you shoot that we shot that in July tells about your experience with the five heartbeats the five heartbeats? Wow, the five heartbeats is amazing experience. Robert McKinley telling us the whole time he was sitting out trying to make, you know, a masterpiece something everything to stand the test of time something that was different. And you know, we believe them in. We would just, you know, trying to make a movie about five men five good-looking black men who you know, throughout the trials and tribulations. In life. You know, still stayed together. Something very rare y'all so play David Ruffin in the bio pic, the temptations tells about playing him well playing David Ruffin was, you know, interesting situation because after the five heartbeats Otis Williams, the original member of the temptations told me that they were going to make a movie out of his book and he wanted me to play him. And I was like great, you know, fantastic. And so when the movie came about they called me in for meeting and told me of you know, Otis's wishes for me to play him, and they just wanted to know before they moved further what role that I think that I should play. But I thought that I should play in the movie, and I said that you know, I 's always flattered that he always wanted me to play him. But I thought I would best serve the movie if I played the role of David Ruffin, and they were just like oh my God. We're so happy said there We were were like, like. oh, we didn't know we'd get to pay day roughly, you didn't wanna play David Ruffin. And so that's how that came about. And also you play Little Richard. Yes. I played rich penman. Little Richard any research for those particular iconic musical figures. Oh, yeah. Lots lots of research, you know, talking to people who knew them, and you know, luckily for me both projects were based on a book. So I had you know, I had the techs to you know, to always reference in all times, you know, and and it helped a lot of times because I they were things that weren't in the script that you know, I bought attention to the producers and stuff to you know, to add into the script because it was taught of what happened in that cinematic Lee would work and doing the research fund is interview I noticed that you say besides the dialogue. There's also the physical part of playing apart. And I was particularly I was really in my mind about the five heartbeats, and then when you play Little Richard. And then when you play the temptations, and I was particularly struck on the down log that you said, I think when you in. Any we're getting back together us time out. You know, your Fisher specs in when you said that a lot we out the voices two that leeann how important is it for the physical part of actor and the character. If no doubt log is actually propelling you in that particular sequence. It's very important equally important, you know, being able to act isn't just about saying lines. You know, it's about your facial expression your body language. It's a very important thing. I remember working with the great director Michael Mann in alley. And he told me one of the reasons why he wanted me to play this role so bad that plate is because he's so mean, this movie above the rim, and he was he loved the fact that that I did so much even when I had no dialogue, you could see in my eyes, and then my face, my facial expression. What I was feeling, and you know, it's very important. You know, lots of times, you know, in real life. You know, when you're. Talking to someone it's about how they look at you. How in their demeanor is just as important as what they're saying. You know, how many times you come up to the person that, you know, or even a family member or use your son or your daughter. They haven't said a word like. Like what's wrong song? Right, right. Why you this? Why are you that? Oh, really you feel like that. And he said nothing..

"If you're today, there was one time we were doing a show in Ohio, and it was half an hour before we left the hotel. So we all waited for Cindy birdsong to come and get in the car. And there was no Cindy, and that was weird. So we're all kind of crazy things. So of course, we had to do the show and later she called us and said, girls, I'm sorry. But I'm with the Supremes now. And I said, Ooh, I said, that's sweet. I was pissed. They wanted to replace Florence Ballard and Cindy birdsong very much like Florence Ballard since she left to go with the Supremes, but it was done the wrong way. I would've agreed to her going with the Supremes who were doing so much better than our grew, why not graduate. So I would have said, go ahead Cindy, but let us know I or Diana talk to me, I and let me know. Don't just snatch girl from me so that hurt for a long time when things happen to me that are not so pleasant. I don't let it bring me down. I take the high road and I forgive, but I never forget. But I do take the high road. You'll never see me disrespecting anyone no matter what they've done to me. And I found a way to forgive Cindy and the Supremes for that. They wanted to enhance their group. You didn't diminish mine. You know, you just took a great. Friend of mine away, but we're still friends today. Autumn line is it's okay. I love her madly. I've had a crazy life, but it ends up well. The temptations were Philadelphia playing at the show boat downtown. And after I saw the show, they knew Patti LaBelle was in the audience and they introduce themselves. And for some reason, Otis in, I became attracted to Otis Williams of the temptations. So I ended up seeing Otis and we ended up becoming engaged, and then he amused, beautiful ring. And he talked about what kind of life where we're gonna have and everything. And I'm saying, yeah, I said, I'm right track the to it temptation or to a man that I wanna be with. I think I was more in love with the temptations than Otis Williams, who was a very sweet man. They were big at that time, you know, and sometimes you get a little celebrity crazy. And I think I was in that category Chow that Maga Rinaldo sons went through my mind. Mess it. I don't think this is gonna work. And the reason I said it is because he wanted me to move the Detroit and stop saying and not use this. I don't think so. I sat. Really. I said, very nicely. The engagement is all I have to sing for the rest of my life, no matter what if they weren't paying me, I have to say that's how it is with me, no matter what I'm going to say. Yes. I still really care for him very much. He's a sweet man, but I'm glad I didn't marry booboo now that was a good move on my part. I knew that I was more than that. So believe in yourself and release yourself of things that you think you want release set mine and say, no, I want to do better. There's no other group like Lebel. They never will be Sarah Yash known Hendricks and Patti LaBelle, and we wore the most outrageous beautiful clothes. And the reason we were the close is to get your attention because three black ladies up. There's just a regular gowns s not gonna work. Most of the time it doesn't work. So that was all the gimmick. We did the most. We were Madonna and Gaga before they were and kiss. They saw our clothing and went to our designer. So we were kissed before they were kiss, you know, we were ahead of our time and let me tell you there's not been another Lebel out in life..
