"Well it might have been a flip side and it might not have charted, but it was a very interesting record for the group. It's sunny's all time favorite. He wrote it for Amy as future wife that he ended up marrying and the mother of his 5 children and the interesting thing about that was other people liked it as well and one of them was a guy named Otis Redding and in fact he liked it enough that immediately he booked the manhattans to join him on his college store and tours in southern states in 1965 and love smitty and in fact he wanted to manage he was talking to them right before that plane crash in December of 67 about actually managing them. He thought they were just terrific every year 65, 66 at the beginning of 67. He would put them and the bar kays on the tours. He just thought they were great. And it was the record that did it for him was that valid, which of course later they would be known for known for their ballots, but at that time it was a departure. Follow your heart which we played was the release after that, which was another one that sunny wrote for Amy. And in some ways, smitty was thinking about Billy Stewart when he did that. And you know, but now we're getting into a period on Manhattan and we're still 1965 and we're getting into 66, but now the hits are not coming. These things are not charting all the way around and you got some interesting records as far as as far as that goes and enough that now carnival, Joe at carnival is saying, we need an album. And so in fact, they took 8 songs and put together an album. And it was, it was just terrific. After that, Christmas time, 1966, alone on New Year's Eve. And the loves are doing backing on that. It didn't even charge a Christmas song, which is a sad thing. But it was smitty's favorite of all the songs. And his girlfriend at the time of his death said he had a kind of rough life in relationships. So he kind of related to that. Yeah, I'll say that smitty had a rough life in relationships. What occurred after I want to miss death said he had a kind of rough life in relationships. So he got a related to that. Yeah, I'll say that smitty had a rough life in relationships. What occurred after I want to be got on the charts and now they're touring and stuff like that is he had gotten a divorce and his ex-wife sued them for a ton of alimony thinking that there was money there. And of course, at this point, there's no money there. And in fact, when smithy died in 1970, there was still no money it wasn't until the mid 70s when they were on Columbia that it really broke. But what happened next, of course, was a decision because now we've gotten into 68, which is nothing's going on as far as that goes. And I bet you probably 66 that blue co wrote one of the last things. And we'll pick it up there. The almost to Atlantic story, as we talk about the marble, not either. The manhattans, that's right the man. I don't know why I was in marble as I guess I'm looking at something else at the same time

"On the coastlines and in those flood prone areas. And that's the crux of it. It is not too late to avoid runaway climate change, and the next hundred years or so will be increasingly dangerous for a lot of people. Rebecca hirscher, NPR news. You're listening to all things considered from NPR news. It's four 44. This is 90.1 W ABE. I'm Emile Moffitt. Friday marks what would have been the 81st birthday for music legend and Georgia native Otis Redding. A host of activities are scheduled starting tonight in his hometown of Macon. Reading star was rising in the music scene in the 1960s before his life was cut short at the age of 26. Joining us now is VP and executive director of the Otis Redding foundation and reading's daughter Carla Redding Andrews. Thanks for being here. Oh, I'm excited to be with you. Thank you for having me. So it is ready while he was still with us, devoted a lot of his attention to music education and community building. Can you tell us a little bit more about that? Oh yeah, and I think it started initially with a group of his fellow stacks artists label mates where they were starting to see a decline in school participation, dropouts, things of that nature. And so they started this campaign called stay in school to really motivate young people. All people to stay in school and focus on the importance of an education. And I think that was important to my dad because he didn't get the opportunity to finish high school. And but yet he's still made it, but he knew having that education was very important. So, you know, even after doing the campaign with his label mates, he started to really focus on scholarships for continuing education for students in the community, as well as planned his first summer camp at our ranch in 1966 with 300 elementary aged kids to come out and meet local celebrities and radio personalities industry professionals and to talk to them about the importance of an education and what the entertainment business looks like. And so talk a little bit about the foundation and how it kind of carries on your father's legacy. It carries on his legacy because that is what his philanthropic importance was to him. And of course, we talk about the music, but really dad was a person who was just so intentional in making sure that kids have the access and the opportunity to music and the arts. And so, you know, with the foundation, that's what we offer. Is there a story or two about your father that you could share with us that really exemplifies who he was? You know, he would always talk about coming back home and giving back to his community. And I think that's who he was. You know, the music and the catalog and the songs happened to be there, which in my opinion, I think, was kind of a chronological profile of his relationship with mom in a lot of ways. The songs that he wrote, but the really, I think, you know, he was really a giving person and really cared about his community and all of its citizens very deeply. There's a groundbreaking scheduled for this weekend in Macon for the Otis Redding center for the arts. What do you hope this building will bring for the foundation and for the making community? Well, I hope that it will give us the opportunity to bring more kids into our fold. And be able to provide them with the access to music and arts, whether it's through digital, whether it's through film, photography, graphic design, of course, music, engineering, branding, marketing,

"In their game against the chargers if it wasn't for a couple of plane that lamar made their game against baltimore. I mean for some of those situations i mean. We could be looking again easily at kansas city. Being five of one and everybody will be sitting there saying why is everybody. Panicking were five and one they still have something to clean up and they're still the elite teams in the afc and then the national football league. Imagine what's going to be happening. How much more potent are going to be. Once these very correctable mistakes are going to be corrected this the narrative. This would be the thought thinking process if kansas city was five one four and two from majority of football fans in kansas city fans but It's not the case but mahomes again the thrown a lot of interceptions. We've been speaking about it interceptions. We've been concentrating on his interceptions and yes he has thrown more interceptions than Than you has in the past couple of years yes. Some of those passes that heathrow has been intercepted has been laughable in like what in the hell you're doing but he's still third in the league with over eighteen hundred yards passing and he threw four season high three hundred ninety seven yard last week and travis kelsey leads all tight ends with thirty eight catches is tied for the league with four hundred. Sixty eight receiving yards. Tyreek hill is still tyreek. Hill caught nine passes for seventy six years. Td last week and it's tied for the lead with the demonte. Adults were forty-six catches so i mean from a glass half full standpoint. You sitting up there saying well. What's the problem here. Yeah they're three and three. But as i mentioned before as you mentioned before wendell it's a long season and when these things get corrected all of a sudden now three of three is going to be looking like eleven and four in a couple of weeks. So what's going to the big deal down the road. What's going to be a big deal. Will the deal is that the defense is still going to be a problem. If you're talking about the glass being half empty of your kids to the football professional football team either or know you're looking at it. From a negative standpoint glass have emptied. The defense is still a problem when you think about kansas city giving up one hundred and thirty three yards rushing. Oh by way. Let just mention that. They're going to be playing tennessee with the best running back in football. Like wear you down. Because he's going to be toting. The rock twenty five thirty times it if necessary. So the chiefs are twenty-seventh in the league. As far as rushing concerned their defense is giving up almost thirty points. A game only miami. The giants atlanta in washington or worse so on one hand disable. The offense is going to be fine that the other correctable things that that could be That can be in taking care of and on the other hand you say well. That's great but are they really going to have to win every single game. Forty two thirty eight. Is that even possible even with the greatness of patrick mahomes and maybe some of the decisions that patrick mahomes is making there. He's coppins because he knows that the estimate those types of throws yet to make those types of decisions he has to make those type of passes because goodness gracious. I have to go ahead and do something. I have to go ahead and be dynamic. I have to go ahead and score touchdowns. Because if i don't i'm giving the ball back to a team on the defensive side for my team we're giving up dog thirty points a game. So sometimes the pressure might manifest itself in the patrick homes. Making those types of decisions baby is a situation where the defense is having the kansas city. Football team on offense mic some of the decisions causing some of the fumbles. Because they're trying to do too much knowing that goodness gracious. If we don't score a bunch of points we might not be able to go ahead and win the football game because we can't kill her defense to hold a team to fourteen seventeen points twenty one points. We're gonna have to go out and score at least over thirty so baby. This'll be allowed. You know signed for positively. If you're kansas city at the fact that hey it gets washington last lille. Lau washington is the football team. They allow them to score thirteen points. Okay well that's great but let's take a look at some of the skill players for the washington football team Near not going to be facing that caliber if you're going to be looking to win championships if you're going to be looking to win division titles if you're going to be looking to win conference championship if you're going to be looking to be competing in the You're going to be looking to be competing for championship and super bowls and such. You're not going to be facing. Taylor halicki tyler. I and the key and tonio gibson in bend. The buffer of mindless washington has and the lack of Receivers were lack of playmakers. Logan thomas as another guy tied and he didn't play where you know a situation where a great that the chief source jimmy that Kansas city allowed only thirteen point. But again whole different story. When you're going to be playing a much better. Offense starting off with the tennessee titans with derrick henry. Aj brown julio jones ryan tannehill It's going to be a much more difficult game to wear. You know what let's see. What happens when they play a more diverse in a much. Better offense than they did last week against washington speaking of kansas city. Wendell's world in sports. I'm your host wonder wallace so glad that you could be with us talking about some of the games. That's going to be happening in the nfl week. Seven who at a falcons at the miami dolphins miami playing the week after losing the jacksonville in london. The dolphins have lost five games in a row and every laws that the dolphins have stephen ross gets a little bit more nervous a little bit more ansi gets a little bit more angered a little bit more perturb and he goes to his fellows he goes to the people who worked for him and say what the hell what did the holy hell is going on. And when can you get up to shawn watson. when can obtain the services of deshaun watson ryan flora's the other day was up there speaking about. I really don't get into rumor. To what is a quarterback. Were happy with quarterback or quarterback situation. I leave it at that. I've said multiple times. That's great there. Bryant coach. i'm glad that you think that to a ton of by lower is your quarterback is no quebec situation. I'm glad that you know you gave him the public endorsement at the the the post conference on friday. But you're not writing the checks and if the owner goes to chris careers. Get me to a tongue of low against what me bill belichick you ain't you ain't gonna them cats You're going to be getting shawn watson. you're going to be working with the charlotte watson. So moving forward again we spoke about. The dolphins are nauseam in terms of. When do we start turning the season around to instead of trying to make the playoffs to start rebuilding for next season. Who's going to be here. Who's not going to be there and go ahead and make the move. Forward the shawn watson with the understanding that watson within the legal trouble that he's facing and hadn't even faced punishment from the nfl's yet probably is not gonna play football this year regardless if he stays with houston if you go to philadelphia if he goes to Miami or anywhere else. But i mean in this situation. You don't want any nfl with ellen elite quarterback and the shawn watson ever. He gets his legal trouble though the way something tells me that yeah he has a money in the pipe price lawyer the go ahead if need be biased way out of these pay his way out of the trouble that he's in but eventually he'll get back on the field and play and if he can get back on the field play because he's taking a year off where he's not playing this year not because of injury but because of situations off the field rich acquire require his attention so for him to come back next season whether he's playing with the dolphins or not. If he's going to be able to play this is not going to be him coming back from an injury. This is going to be something where you know what he took a year off from getting hit and the wear and tear that goes on his body. So if you're the dolphins long-term getting the show and for the twenty twenty two season that might be the way to go because as a were looking right now. Let's season is at a total loss. The new york jets wanted five at the new england patriots. Two and four. Wilson's that wilson the quarterback for the jets trying to snap the patriots. Eleven game winning streak against them in that series. The jets have beaten the patriots since week. Sixteen of the two thousand fifteen season. That wasn't even pathmark. Sanchez met the third week of the season. Speaking about the jets and the patriots. New england won easily twenty. Five six and bill. Belichick did the zach wilson which he does to all rookie quarterback's when he played bill belichick. The first time made him look foolish. Confused and Not very good. Nineteen thirty three two hundred and ten yards seeming. I'm sorry Yeah yeah he one thousand nine hundred thirty. Three hundred ten yards and four interceptions. That's what does that wilson was doing. So let me see how did the got it off. Yeah still looking. At the fact that new england's coming off tough laws against dallas and overtime some decisions questionable decisions made by bill belichick. What are you going to question bill belichick. When he's bill belichick so two and four. well see if the jets can rebound against the new england patriots. One thing they have to do they had to get a little bit better. As far as the first quarter is concerned. Come out and start playing. They'd been now score thirty two nothing in the first quarter the first five games the past five games. They've twenty seventy nine yards total yards in the first quarter through those games. They scored thirteen points. While the opponents of scores five. And i've been out gained one thousand thirty one to four hundred twenty in the first half so used to be incumbent upon the new york jets to come out and do some things so yeah that would be that would be a good idea when those world and sports. I'm your host wonder wallace so glad that you could be with us. Carolina panthers at the new york giants. We take a look at some of the early games the slate in week. Seven of the national football league this coming sunday carolina has lost three games in a row. The giants are coming off to other wars. Losses of the season is time for the discussion. Hey you know what. Jon gruden already left. He was the first coach to be gone. From an organization speculation scuttle button talk know urban meyer. Who's going to be that guy who's gonna be the next guy then other. We should start mentioning the possibility possibility that it could be joe judge of the giants now what he said about the current win loss situation he said the let me see. What's the quote. yes he said. I've the head coach. That's my responsibility point blank. Every player on the field every position group the execution in all comes down to me. The fish stinks when the fish stinks from the head down. I've been taught that by great guys that i worked for and played for. There's no excuses no exceptions. You demanded of your coaches to make sure that your players are playing the right wayne. You demanded of the players to know what you do what to do when they have to go out there and do it but it starts with me and ends with me well could be ending with you very very soon aka. Want the season's over the last two games have been embarrassing for the giants. Lost dallas lost to the los angeles rams by combined fifty points not being competitive especially in the second half either game so you know saquon barkley still trying to get back into shape. Daniel jones still trying to figure out the fees. The franchise quarterback to be moving forward. What are the weapons. What are the situations concerning with that. In the defense has regressed said mentioned before one of the lower tier teams in terms of points given up so that defense which carry them through part of the season last year for about fifteen minutes where they were considered possible playoff contenders because of the vision that they were in not because of the record that they had well. That defense has regressed. That office had not improved in any way shape and form and when you see those type of situations than a you take local say. This is not going to be a successful season and be joe. Judges been at the helm of the team. Long enough to have some type of improvement or more improvement than what the new york giants organization or. Football team is showing. So we're going to have to possibly make some moves if things don't turn around wendell's world and sports. I'm your host wonder wallace so glad that you could be with us taking a look at some other games of cincinnati a baltimore great gauge game for the bengals six weeks into the season at the five straight. Losing seasons and zach wilson. Another guy that came into the season total about it might be a situation where you know what he could be losing his job. Well joe borough and jomar chasing those have turned things around greatly Chance to move into a tie for first place atop the afc north that they can win that the the vision leading baltimore ravens. Who are on a hot streak of themselves. Winning five games in a row baltimore had beaten cincinnati repeatedly with the same old flipping cincinnati bengals. Ravens won twenty seven to three and thirty eight to three and their two most recent matchups between the teams baltimore rut for a franchise record four hundred and four yards and one of those games and look you know. I don't know exactly where we're going to be at cincinnati. I don't know exactly as far as going into the season. I don't know what we can make the team from cincinnati. I really don't but i know one thing. This will be a great gauge game in terms of where they stand win or lose because if you take a look at some of the winds are you take a look at cincinnati four victories. This season the only one that kind of stands out is the game at pittsburgh where they want twenty four to seven. Maybe the season opener where they won in minnesota twenty seven to twenty four. But at the time you know you speaking about the pittsburgh team moving the week two or week three whenever they play pittsburgh that was struggling really struggling on offense now since they game. Pittsburgh has gotten better but at the time the replaying pittsburgh was shall we say regressing solely kind of in how they were playing football. So just speaking about cincinnati's four wins being minnesota at pittsburgh jacksonville and then at detroit. Then of those gains shout out that this is a team that we should they seriously have playoff contenders just yet the game now gang seven week seven against the baltimore ravens is going to be a situation where again win or lose. We can kind of go ahead and see but can a football team. We're gonna be talking about. Shall we really start talking about. Cincinnati being A playoff contender win or lose depends more on how they play so baltimore is going to be going for six victory in a row. I mean what's really the difference. Is you take a look at the organizations this season with the ravens. And the bengals when you take a look at some of the victories of baltimore's have and set it on my podcast last week. There's only a couple of plays in the band officiating. Call away from baltimore possibly not being five and one but baby being two hundred four or three and three so as a game of inches very much a game of inches. So in the nfl. We've got some really good games. Late games are gonna be philadelphia. Two and four at the las vegas raiders. Foreign to good win for the raiders. After all of that bullshit happened with jon gruden detroit own six at the rams five and one that should be a homecoming game for the los angeles rams the houston texas wanna five at the arizona cardinals six. No another should be homecoming game for the arizona cardinals. Chicago going to be going to tampa bay chicago. Three and three tampa bay. Five and one tampa bay is going to be without antonio brown but the weapons that the buccaneers half the way they've been playing the way the offense of line has been keeping. Tom brady rather clean while chicago. Defense has gotten better justin fields. I don't think is in a position yet where he can go toe to toe against the defense and everything that entails in terms of trying to put points on the board against them. So i think tampa bay is gonna come away with that win if a dozen chicago with justin feels. Hey high then. Indianapolis two and four at san francisco coming off a bye week. Two and three jimmy garoppolo as going to be the starting quarterback for the forty niners. Good game this past weekend by the indianapolis colts carson wentz. Looks like he's starting to get a little bit more comfortable with the teammates and frank right and the system such so I wouldn't be shocked. I wouldn't be surprised in fact. I'm predicting i should say. I'm going to go out and say that the indianapolis colts should beat the san francisco. Forty niners and on the road this weekend. Which means san francisco will probably win this game. Thirty eight to nothing monday night. Football game new orleans at seattle two quarterbacks that are struggling to teams with inconsistency at quarterback seattle not because it has anything to do with russell wilson but because russell wilson has a broken middle finger he won't be playing gina. Smith came in played relatively well Monday night or sunday night. What sunday night. yes sunday. Night against pittsburgh that lead to fumble though cost them the opportunity to win the game but he's been serviceable and james. Winston still remains inconsistent. So we don't know exactly what he's going to be doing as far as you know from possession to possession. Maybe the running game with album chimera can help out and maybe that improved defense for new orleans can go ahead to step up and not put jamie's in situations where he's going to have to be throwing the ball all over the yard so yeah mm-hmm the nfl slate of games looks interesting. No powerhouses no game of the centuries while you know. Stop what you're doing a watch but a solid slate of games for week. Seven in the nfl..

"Of days later. Then go to miami and play a team that embarrassed that the The walkie embarrassed in the playoffs. Kind of gave a couple of players on that miami heat team. A couple of look in the mirror and reality sets in oman. Goodness gracious kind of hit. Have the face too harsh truth that i'm not as good as i thought. I was. See tyler hero and after rededicate myself to being a pro to being all those type of things the hell. The tyler hero went through after the bubble experience and then all the expectations that were supposed to be thrust upon him going into His next season in he greatly disappointed. There was even talk about men you know back in the day james harden when he was. What's you can't believe that You know there was a situation where miami turned down the opportunity to acquire james harden unbelievable because they wanted to keep tyler he wrote. This was during the season. Last season were hero was underperforming greatly and at the beginning when harden was being shopped around and was like well you know. Heroes heroes untouchable. I wouldn't trade. James harden for hero heroes younger. And he's got more upside and did you see how we played in the playoffs in the bubble in hardened thirty two and the other no way than the other and by the end of the season it was like damn what a screw of the miami may not getting a james harden for tyler hero. Go there was talk about you. Know not one hundred percent guarantee but there was discussion about. Should we go ahead and start thinking about trading this kid so as all of that got to humor will let me tell you something. When you're dealing with the miami heat organization pat riley eric's poultry expulsion such and they don't sugarcoat admit they don't bullshit will try to make sure that your feelings they don't give a fuck about your feelings. Okay they tell you the way it is. So i'm quite sure. The end of the season discussion with the miami heat when it came to tyler hero when he had to meet with riley in spoelstra in those guys plus sure wasn't too pleasant quite sure. It wasn't too cheerful. A quite sure there were some words. used by riley spoelstra that Really maybe struck a court with tyler. Hero this sale shit. You know maybe. I need to go ahead and rededicate myself as to the being a Try to be I don't know like the nets. Generations mail kim kardashian or paris hilton or some shit like instead of trying to figure out how i'm going to build my brand. Maybe i'm not as far along in terms of being a superstar as i thought it was running around trying to bang i g models do all those types of things and go out and south beach the fucking man. Maybe i need to well. You know bunker del. Go back to the dungeon and You know develop my game developed by craft in grow up a little bit because the nba is a man's league. And if you're not going to act like a man unless you've got other worldly talents than you ain't going to be last too long. And i think tyler zero after last season were that so we came out in the first game. He was looking great in preseason so we came out and the season opener and put it on the walkie and put it on them quite hard so one of them one of them situations man milwaukee already you know had their statement game opening game against brooklyn you know should the bed against the miami janas had fifteen points grayson allen had fourteen points. Chris middleton had ten points. Fourteen shooting from the field but milwaukee plate without jrue holiday. As i mentioned before set out because of that Right heel injury brook. Lopez didn't play because of a back. Bobby portis left with a hamstring injury. Now i'm thinking of these really meant something that brook lopez into rule holiday played speaking about game two on the road bucks already. Made the statement bucks. Already got their jill. You know moving on with that. So two games into the season but miami look good miami. Look good by me. Like i said. Play with revenge in their hearts plate with revenge in terms of the passion and the intensity that they showed against the milwaukee bucks the other night in milwaukee was like screw it man. We already beat you guys in the playoffs. So you know. We'll get luck to you guys. Miami's much much-improved miami much improved with the addition of calorie the They're much improved. So we'll see what happens. Moving forward with that wendell's world in sports. I'm your host wonderwall so glad that you could be with us. Second game of the tuesday night game. The golden state warriors started their season with tim. Goodwin's opening night on tuesday. As i mentioned before the lost angeles lakers. I'll be getting to the lakers second. Y'all calm down. One twenty one one fourteen scored on sixty eight fifty three in the second half. Allow thirty eight points in the fourth quarter. Speaking about the lakers in that frame vogel defense and despite playing like trash aka shooting like trash five. Twenty one to three from three point. Range steph curry a steph curry after the game. You heard him on the the interview right. He said he plane crash. Like i mentioned before. He said he should've said i shot trash. But man shot like trash is still had a triple double. Mister got himself a triple double twenty points. Ten rebounds tennessee's in thirty six minutes. Yeah shooting wise. And i know basically. That's the main thing we're going to be judging steph curry on in terms of how well he played is how well that he shot. But just if presence on the court especially offensively makes a huge positive impact for golden state in the game. Because you have to always always always always be cognizant of steph curry. What he what he's doing in that. That extends to about thirty five feet away from the basket so i don't give a damn if he misses his fifteen sixteen eighteen. Twenty twenty five shots. I don't care if he missed his first. Twenty five shots in twenty. Four of them were were airballs and the other one was the brick. It doesn't matter you still have to give him the same amount of respect. You still have to exert the same amount of attention and energy on that guy as if he hasn't missed a shot because he can go over twenty one and then catch fire and go sick for six four four from three point range including a dagger 35-footer with the shot clock running daily gave golden state victory. So you never want to ignite the flame. Which is steph curry shooting. So yeah he might have played like trash in terms of His shooting percentages concern. But he did other things that may they mentioned before just having him on the floor makes it Mixed golden state a much much better team regardless of how we shooting and he redeemed himself on thursday last night against the clippers in their home opener. Speaking about the golden state warriors. Their hope or opener against the clippers scored forty five points. Forty five points. Forty five points on sixteen to twenty five shooting. Eight of thirteen from the three point line ten rebounds in thirty eight minutes. Go ahead three pointer with fifty six seconds remaining and then follow that up with a thirty four. Let's middle man the only real blemish for curry so has been turnovers. The first two games. And i don't pay too much attention to Bad shooting night that mccurry can have a shooting. Neither either to doesn't matter eventually he man. It's going to happen where he's going to explode almost like to use the Like to use the situation as far as curry shooting in terms of like. If you're living in los angeles right you. You know that los angeles southern california get get earthquakes earthquakes right now. You might not know when it's coming. You might not be able to project when his coming but you know eventually an earthquake is going to be coming if you live in louisiana during the summertime. You know that a hurricane's going to be coming we don't know is going to be hurricane katrina ish. We don't know how devastating is going to be. But you know whether it'd be june july august you know that a hurricane is gonna be coming steph curry. That's the same damn thing you know if steph curry goes five or twenty one or eight for twenty three and goes for eleven or three for fourteen from three point range you know the performance that he had against the clippers on thirty nine. It's coming a forty five point eight for thirteen from the three point line. Sixteen to twenty five shooting to dagger threes at the end of the game. You know that's coming now. You don't know if it's going to be happening game three or game. Six or game. Eight or nine or ten. We don't know how many is going to happen. He could have game like that a couple of games in a row. You don't know but you know that should come in. So what steph curry and the shooting. you know. that's something that you don't have to worry about mentioned for the only thing maybe for just picking hairs here the only thing that might be something where you might have to say Interesting is the turnovers. But you know steph such a creative player as death tapes to so many chances that you expect to have three or four turnovers a game especially with his ball handling responsibility to the way that he cuts the way that he moves the way that these grooves the sickness that he has instinctiveness that he has with gray mom green. Sometimes there's a work all the time but you're the style of play that they have curry is going to be having turnovers. But if he can minimize those. As i mentioned before it averaging five maybe maybe maybe this too much but it you know three and a half turnovers per game. I mean for staff that would be really really good so golden state willing the teams love. People are talking about golden state this golden state dad is like man and then they bring up the fact that you know klay thompson is gonna come back matt. How good do we know klay thompson is going to be when he gets back. People are speaking about. Yeah klay thompson is going to be back by christmas. Okay that's fine. That's wonderful but you you do realize that the klay thompson that you're getting back is not the klay thompson that we're used to right now. I don't know how long it's gonna take klay thompson be the klay thompson that we all remember. I don't know if klay thompson it's ever going to get back to the klay thompson that he was when everybody. You know things have played thompson. That his at the height of his prowess working with staff and draymond in kadian. Those guys were. I don't know if that guy is ever going to come back now. I know the man could shoot. That's a that's a given. And i know that you know as far as being a creator is concerned an off the ball. Dribbler a type of player. That's not his game and the lastingly go when you speaking about the game of basketball issue shot when you're a shooter just like when you know just like george foreman george. Foreman is like what what is he. Now seventy something years old is he could probably get right now still be one of the hardest hittin heavyweights going on right now in. The man stuff is semi something years old. You never lose your power in boxing. You never lose your ability to shoot the basketball. If you're a shooter in that game so clay is always going to be able to shoot. The only question is going to be. How much more can contribute play. If you remember was also very two way player. He was a shooter. He was a defender because of the injuries that he's had. These missed the amount of time that detailed. how much is that. Going to be mitigated. How much of that is going to be damaged from those injuries from the time off. Is he ever going to get close to what he. what before. As far as being a defenders concern v if he is it. What does that mean. I think when people are prognosticating. What the golden state warriors are going to be all a beverly mentioned what we're getting klay thompson back for me is like we'll get yearly klay thompson back as a shooter and that's something that you need and if clay can come back by christmas that we give him another four monthly around himself in the basketball shape. Nba basketball shaving shot together and get back to the continuity that he had with raymond what he had with steph curry and those type of things but i think when people are speaking about the warriors are going to going to surprise in terms of maybe being top five top sixteen in the western conference because klay thompson is coming back. I think putting way too much pressure on too much unrealistic expectations on klay thompson. Just still speaking about golden state warriors team. Who i mean outside of steph wellstone score who else could shoot the ball. Draymond can't andrew wiggins can't he's not consistent in doing that maybe jordan pool but you know jordan pool hasn't given enough you know we. We haven't seen enough of jordan pool in terms of doing it on a consistent basis especially in crunch time for us to believe that he can be that super bowl. Second score with clay or cmih with steph to get them to being willing to true contenders for the western conference. But i will say this meant golden state the way they played. You gotta love way. They play then though people whine and complain the school folks. People in my generation are always speaking about there are too many goddamn three pointers. In the game was either a dunk fucking contest or three point shooting contest. This is the basketball this bullshit while that might be the case man but you know golden state is gonna shoot a lot of threes. First of all you have steph curry. Why would you not want him. To shoot as many threes is possible with this range in with his accuracy. I don't know why you would actually go ahead and bone that point but even though they'll be shooting a lot of threes and even though sometimes on those three on tuesday and those two on ones in those four on threes and those unmanned situations they'll drive nuts. When you see three guys running to three point line. I understand old school. It'll drive you nuts but man goals as the fun team to watch very entertaining. Team to watch extremely entertaining. I'm looking forward to watching golden state play. I'm interested in watching charlotte plane. I'm interested in watching denver play. I'm interested in watching I just love the new york. Knicks new york next big game feel for your next at madison square garden. Great it's great. Theater is Reno and tom table those team is going to give you a hundred and ten percent every single night. I mean they might. Not you know they're they're they're not on the upper echelon and turned the eastern conference teams are concerned but with tom thibodeau eight. He's gonna play. The starters hold on a minute whether it be game one whether it be gained twenty five whether a game be forty six sixty three seventy two the matter. What the score is no matter. What the circumstances are tom. Thibodeau team with his new york. Knick team the makeup that they have they are going to give you everything that they've got so when a team like milwaukee or a team like brooklyn or a team like the lakers or team by utah. Where a team that comes into. Msg and plays maybe february during the dog days of the season. They know that they had to get themselves ready to play the next because that garden crowd is going to give them the juice to go out there and play a game with a lot more passionate intensity and energy than say a tuesday night game during the same time period in sacramento or indiana orlando is such an with timoteo playing against tom timber though team that new york knicks team. You don't play hard. The general luther game by twenty so regardless of how good you are regardless of what. Your team's expectations are so that's another team that i'm gonna be interested in watching nice to see new york basketball professional basketball back in new york city so the nba season has started. All of these good things going on. I wanna save. The los angeles lakers talked till next. segment losing one. Twenty one fourteen. I don't know are people gonna lose their mind like a fan of losing. Your mind already will be interesting to see how they do against phoenix tonight but Losing the first game of the season. I'll get into that when we come back in. What else do i wanna talk about. Oh yeah we gotta go ahead and talk about the mess the nonsense. Which is the philadelphia. Seventy sixers and ben simmons. And i don't know what the hell's with the stuff man but We'll go ahead and we'll take a look at that and to break that down a little bit and talk a little about take a little look a little bit about zayn williamson such all of those good things but Yeah so the one roll the sports. That's exactly what we're going to be talking about so make sure when you go ahead and you talk about windows. Roll the sports. Make sure when you go ahead and you listen to this podcast. I was living in a small apartment On the west side of detroit and piano by the window watching the cars go by and We came up with that infamous. Line the sock it to me line was a cliche of the day. Actually we didn't just come up with it. It was really really was cliche. Some of the girls were saying that to the fellows like to me this way or sock it to me in that way a nothing sexual and it's not sexual. It was non-sexual.

Geez man but brom the lakers star posted in later deleted the tweet on wednesday about the fatal police shooting up michaela bryant sixteen year old black girl in columbus ohio and up series of tweets. James explain why you deleted the post. Its first tweet said that anger does not anger. Does anger does any of us. Good what does he say angered not do any of us. Any good including myself gathering all the facts and education does though by anger still. Is there for what happened that little girl my sympathy for her family and justice prevail. Why did you take that down or why. Why why you took a. I took the post down for the second tweet him. So damned tired of seeing black people killed by police Took the tweet damn because is being used create more hate. James is hometown of akron. Ohio is about one hundred. Twenty five miles northeast from columbus. Which is the state capital man. I saw that video abroad thing. Download the zapruder film. Mammon term the watching that thing look you know. I don't think this was a situation. Where again i think this was more compared than it was. Derek chauvin in terms of what happened care kim potter. What the woman who accidentally shot a dante right when she thought she was pulling out the tasers a gun so i don't think this is a situation where we can claim racism. I don't think this was a situation where this guy who shot. This guy was looking for or shot. Woman shot this girl was looking for a black person a murderer or something like that. I'm not going there. But i am outraged. I am disappointed and multitude of people on that one. Because i was taking a look at the film i was taking a look at the instance of what happened and from what i saw was the fact that when the police officer responded he immediately as soon as he got out of his car he immediately put his his hand on his holster. Okay so right there. He's looking for shit to happen because what is from the film was there. Were two females outside or two girls outside. What are the girls was talking shit. Lawrence is a really good player. I don't know if he's a generational. Talent people are saying and then another. Afc co said. If he was selecting between joe burrow and trevor lawrence joe burrow with the number one pick of the cincinnati bengals last season the number one pick in the nfl draft. This afc kill said he. Would it be obvious that he would pick borough over lowest one hundred one hundred hundred times out of one hundred. He says if you don't take him out of if you don't take him if you don't take him in your jacksonville and it turns out that he was a perennial pro bowler. You'll never live it down. But i but they have to take him. I think the intangibles are there. He can throw the ball but he does not have unique rare playmaking ability. If i'm comparing last year to this year joe burrow is picked over travel one hundred times out of one hundred one. Afc quarterback coach said. He would take while us that wilson over trevor lawrence saying if i was picking the one who man that i'd be hard for me not to take him over trevor. He's not he's got real playmaking ability. He's shorted in lawrence. I get it. Police got ball all about him. He makes plays unique place. I don't know what that means though is like okay. No-one said that he's going to be a bust. No-one said that. I don't know about this guy. Man you know. I mean this guy might not have. This might not have that. I'm saying that he might be a guy where we're looking at jameis winston type. We're looking at a marcus. Mariota type where you know by his fifth or sixth year. He might be on another team because he just didn't live up to expectations. No one is saying that everyone is saying that. Well you know he might not be the generational all-time great that many people are predicting him to be all. Or i find. That doesn't mean that he's going to be a postal. I mean i. I think that he should be drafted number. "Dennis schroder the one who likes to throw out the racial epithets at kyrie irving. That's the guy you're going to be counting on kyle. Kuzma for the los angeles lakers to win again. Especially the way. Paul george i keep coming back to the los angeles clippers and i keep coming back focusing on paul george who had been playing quietly all nba basketball. Not for a couple of days. Not for a couple of weeks. Not just against the bad teams for the entire flipping season. Maybe the embarrassment a what happened to him in the bubble this past offseason this past playoff season and the way he got clowned by fellow. Nba players. Maybe that lit a fire under paul. George w like fuck all. Y'all gonna come back come back with a vengeance it. I'm going to Show you what the real pierce not. Paul paul george is all about. Maybe that was the situation. But he's been playing great basketball so he can bring that into. The playoffs has been resting quiets nursing injuries. Get him ready for the play offs. I don't know what the situation what. Patrick beverley is concerned. We do know that. Ron regime rondo always turns up his game. Tenfold wants the playoff hits especially as you go deeper into the playoffs. So there a possibility that the clippers biggest weakness on their squad point guard had been taken care of okay. He wasn't kyle lowry okay. He isn't ricky rubio. But still you take a look at how valuable in the contributions that region rondo. May for the lakers. Last year can duplicate that. Come close to that with the los angeles clippers. Paul george continues to play type of basketball. He's been playing in the regular season. Brings it over to the playoffs choir. Leonard does quite limit things. I'm taking a look at the. Los angeles lakers something or you're going to be able to beat their. If lebron james is sixty eight percent in anthony davis and seventy four point three eight seven six five four.

"If New york had a decent mayor and something could be done to where we could be at a point where you could put some folks in madison square garden for a playoff game because that would be absolutely fantastic. First time to seven years you know to be that atmosphere but you know it's it's great. It's wonderful for the lincoln is also a major market in a season where the nba ratings are down and everything like that. Have new york back and play at least at the playoff team. Think also but long term. What are we going to be talking about every year. The nba sweat dream is having the new york. Knicks play the los angeles lakers in the nba championship. Wouldn't it be. Shouldn't it be the two biggest markets in the nba. I'm sorry this ain't football football. You can get away with green bay. Packers playing the pittsburgh steelers or you can get away with jacksonville. Jaguars playing the. I don't know man playing the arizona cardinals or some shit like that. Basically while i'm saying is with the super bowl you got that built in. That's going to be close to seventy five. Eighty ninety million doesn't matter doesn't matter the indianapolis colts could be playing the. I don't know who gives the fox of the nfl. In seventy five eighty million people are still gonna watch and then you have spring practice and the ratings for the spring practice of the jacksonville. Jaguars is going to probably blow away. Game seven of the nba championship between the lebron. James lead school this that and the other and the janas the coupon milwaukee bucks blah blah blah. It don't matter. Lebron james ain't gonna say the nba from juggernaut known as the nfl. There's no pro athlete. There's no pro sports. There's no sports team. That's going to save the their lead from. What is the juggernaut of sports leaks in this country. Which is the. nfl doesn't matter. You can have game. Seven of the world series between the los angeles dodgers and the new york yankees garrett cole going up against Clayton kershaw and if the cincinnati bengals decided to hold a walk through and cbs is gonna televise that nationally. That's that's going to destroy ratings. Wise interest wise game seven of and say that but basically you know what i'm getting at right that basically football supersedes everything but the nba. If you have a finals worse going to be the sacramento kings versus the indianapolis pacers. No one's gonna watch nobody except for the hardcore basketball fist. Nobody's gonna watch if you don't have lebron james if you don't have steph curry if you don't have kevin durant if you don't have james harden if you don't have janas don't have luca if you don't have those types of superstars plane in the nba. Finals nobody is going to watch except family friends. And die hearts. You need stars and you need big markets in your finals..

"Windows world is sports. I'm your host one wallis. Glad that you'll be with us. Nba playoffs are starting soon. We've got some interesting. i wanna matchups. I remember my last podcast. I was speaking about the I was speaking about the new york. Knicks about for the league is good. It's great. it's awesome one nine nine zero something like that. I think is grit good rate. Awesome that the knicks making the playoffs. Fantastic wonderful but from a nick organizational standpoint is like okay we lose the first round and we look back and say you know what maybe this season okay. Small mike you know Small picture good big picture. We missed out on kate telling him. We missed out on evan mobely. We missed out on jonathan mingo. We missed out on jalen shrugs and we missed out on jalen green so this season might be nice but is this going to be consistent or is this just because of the woolly wacky season. Seventy two games very short off season not to me. Folks if any in the stands. What's what can we deduce from the season. If you're the new york knicks. Can julius randle repeat the year that he's having right now. I mean the players. How long is it going to be before. Tom timoteo. where's out. The organization is going to be two years. Is it going to be five. Years isn't going to be halfway through next year when the knicks aren't living up to expectations because let's say let's just say for instance to make the playoffs. We'll go on the assumption that the next going to be making the playoffs. All right all right all right all right all right all right. So they're going to be making the playoffs. They beat the hawks or they beat. Whoever they're going to be playing in the first round they make it to the semifinals. Hell let's say they take the seventy sixers to six hard-fought games right next season. Knick fans come on now y'all not expectations and are gonna be moving up another level. Julius wrangles is only gonna get better. Reggie bullock been unbelievable emmanuel quickly. It's only gonna get better. Derrick rose is going to be that solid guy. You know we've got some pieces here to where we should be better. So it's like the expectations for the next four. The twenty twenty four twenty twenty one twenty two season are really going to be off the charts. Start off and scuttle buddy or there's stumbling and stumbling and bumbling might sometimes i do with my podcast out the gate i mean. What's the tom. Typical feel atmosphere gonna be like that around this team next season if that happened so the whole lot deals going on here to where i'm just going to say i don't know man i mean again. I think it's great for the nba.

Tom timoteo julius randle jonathan mingo Derrick rose knicks Knicks new york knicks next year two years Reggie bullock evan mobely Knick hawks first round five emmanuel six hard-fought games jalen Seventy two games new york

You only bring out the popcorn with the san francisco forty niners. What's going to be happening. Because depending upon the selection by the san francisco forty nine. that's domino effect. I believe is going to begin. When you're speaking about franchises. Like the atlanta falcons or the detroit lions. The denver broncos dallas cowboys the new york giants. An Interview with Peter Gabriel

"That. One of the first obstacles Peter Gabriel had to overcome on his way to start him was the disapproval of that fancy boarding school where he and his classmates formed Genesis. So guys. The sheet. Though benny. He talked about the band's somewhat subversive beginnings during his interview with Mary Jordan for the academy of chievements in two thousand eighteen there was a lot of discussion about whether we should continue with music in those other school. Now would be very proud of Genesis history. They want very supportive they sort of total rated a rogue group. And remember, my grandmother was told not to carry on playing and mixing with this reputable types. And so this was something that for us was really important because it was not quite Tom Brown's schooldays, but it was a formal English cool with discipline. Not a lot of compassion and the tighter the discipline the moon human nature wants to. Rebel against it. So music was alway in those film, Lindsay Anderson cold if which sort of catch it, I think the emotion of the experience stand up dresses Dresses you. you. Something indecent about you. Try to the way you slide about you think we'd unnoticed with your hands in your pockets the way you just sit looking at everyone you have become a danger to the morale of the whole house. You can take that cheap. It'll grin feel knife. The movie if is an icon of British counterculture, and it actually came out the very year. Genesis put out there.
