"other media outlets" Discussed on KDWN 720AM
"A little hate is rising in America fires and the smoke and the burnings of buildings in the murders of innocent people constantly happening in front of our eyes and the people who are in charge. Are letting it happen. And on that note, Ellen we have Victor Davis Hanson. He is a military historian. He is the contemporary politics for National Review, The Washington Post Times and other media outlets. He's a brilliant guy. And he lays it out very simply because what he says is interesting. He says that the Maoist revolution that we're watching before us will collapse once we start indicting anarchists. The other thing, he says is doesn't have popular support. So listen to what he says. This is very good steaks. Do you think of the conflicts going on in our country right now? Well, they don't like our civilisation, whether it's because of personal angst or they have agendas, But they've they've redefined traditional Marxism, not his class struggle necessarily, but as identity politics, racial struggle. That's a various dangerous idea. Because Oprah can be a victim. Obama could be a victim right regardless of their privilege. And we're seeing that now and we didn't stop it. As you said. It was like an ember in 2018. Just two years ago, Tucker and we saw it with Maxine Waters, who get in their face at gas stations and follow them into department stores. We saw them when they kicked out Sara's Sanders from a restaurant. We saw it when they swarmed the house of Mitch McConnell and no one said anything because they say where they were saying to us. This isn't a political revolution. This is a cultural malice Revolution. Turn on the TV. You're going to see LeBron James. He's gonna lecture you If you want to get away from that. Here's a commercial Colin Kaepernick. You don't like that? Go to the restaurant. See what you find at the restaurant. Turn on the Oscars. That's what you're going to get on their plane. Look at the log of the attendant where everywhere 3 60 24 7, So you want to get rid of it. Then here are concessions, and they're using an election year Joe Biden to carry that He's sort of like a hot air balloon. And there the courage below it and they pumped him up and he's just going to drift over to the election day collapse, and then they've got their courage in the whole agenda where they want and we didn't deter it. We didn't stop it. We didn't say. No more because we were afraid of being counseled out were said Well, I'll lose my job. I won't. I won't get this contract, whatever it was, and so we sat silent and that's to them. They said. That's the same is that they approve us and that's where we are now and reminds you that line and dirty Harry when they said the inspector says that jury every why did that this awful person do this? And he said, because they like it. All it takes for evil to prevail in this world is for good men and women to do nothing. And he's exactly right. But I love how he put that. He says that that Biden is the hot air balloon and they're in the basket below it, guiding it around. And then when all the hot air goes out of the balloon and the thing lands and Biden is done, and he has a stroke, or whatever they whatever you know, they inject him with where he is now incapacitated. They, of course rise up and we deal with that. It's the Trojan. Biden. He's the tragic fighting horror Trojan balloon. Yes, well now in clip 17. It gets more interesting because Leo Terrell was a hardened leftist. At one point, he has turned the corner. It did. Tucker Carlson has had him on that, By the way, Victor Davis Hanson was on Tucker Carlson Carlson is the absolute He's the Edward R. Murrow of our time. I want to play Leo Terrell, though discussing why you cannot trust or deal with the anarchists, and he's being interviewed by Tucker Carlson. Those conversations with Woodward earlier this year, however, Trump called the Corona virus deadly stuff and acknowledged he was eager to play down the disease. At a White House briefing today, Trump denied he had lied to the American people and came up with a novel defense that goes something like this. If what I said was so bad, then why'd in Bob Woodward go public with it at the

SEC Investigates Kodak's Federal Loan, Stock Surge
"Last week, Kodak announced, it had secured a seven hundred, sixty five, million dollar loan from the Federal Government under the Defense Production Act to shift gears for making photo supplies to drug ingredients. Now, we've learned that the Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating the deal joining me now with more details is Wall Street Journal reporter Dave, Michaels? So Dave Codex shares surged after news about this loan broke, and that got the attention of the Securities and Exchange Commission. What can you tell us about what they're now looking into? Well, we understand that the SEC has opened up. An investigation they're looking at trading in the shares just before the loan announcement was officially made, and then also how the in the news about the loan was communicated to the wider market. Why is that potentially a problem that Kodak had shared news of this deal with some media outlets before making this public wouldn't be a violation of criminal law, but but it could be a violation of the regulations that apply to public companies, which they can be straightforward. They can also beat her technical, but suffice it to say that public companies have to have a lot of rigor around how they communicate. Information, that is information that is going to influence investors decisions about whether to buy a seller, hold on a shares and if the company released information. About the control loan before the initial announcement in released in a way that was. Haphazard or not well thought through and then that information. Leaked down in some form or fashion to the wide broader market people traded on it than that could be a problem for Kodak as a public company just in terms of their responsibilities in terms of how they're supposed to control the flow of material information. So what are some of the questions still surrounding this deal that our team is looking into right now including this question about the disclosure in the communication? Of the loan, we're still looking into the loan itself in Kodak is saying that. Alone details are not fully finalized and yet the announcement was made last week that it was going to be getting seven, hundred, sixty, five, million dollar loan. So announcing net to the broader market, ensure holders developed certain expectations about how that's going to change. Kodak's business. But the loan is in guaranteed is not finalized. Query whether whether it was appropriate to make make that announcement at the time. We're also looking into continue to look into some of the equity options grants that were made to executives directors in the day before the day, just before the official announcement was made. So Dave, what are the potential outcomes from an SEC investigation of this sort? What can we see come out of this and when? You know we understand this is Very early days of this, I mean after all the announcement was just made last week, so it could take. Months to learn anything from either the company or potentially in the SEC. If actually brought any sort of official claims against the company. So we won't. We won't know anytime soon, and also it's also not clear that this would result in in a in former allegations of wrongdoing SEC opens up investigations all the time they ask questions, they do the dig into something, they take testimony and they might decide you know, hey, this, this was a little weird wasn't perfect way went down, but there's not a clear regulatory violation. Yourself is just something that I think people who are interested in Kodak Interested in in this story would just have to stay tuned.

Have Family and friends who have gone through this are going through those who work with blended families. This is something that affects all of our lives in one way or another, and especially with the anxiety community. This just ramps up. You know every possible emotional button that you can have shame worthiness. Stability financial security you know holy cow so. I I don't even know where to start. I'm so excited. I don't even know where to start. How did you so you are? You've been through this world. Did you start as? Well let me let me back up. Where did you start near your career before you realize that this was a passion of yours? Oh, I never wanted to be a lawyer. So why decided I wanted to be a lobbyist I was going to go to the day and work in politics and I got into Grad school and that was my career path, and then I said you know what if I'm going to spend a couple more years in school, a muzzle. Get my lodge, agree, and then I can maybe do something else with it and I never looked back on. Now looking at looking in the past I think Washington would have chewed me up and spit me out I. would've never survive there. So I just I you know. When I started practicing, it was with a small firm, and they were really good at criminal defense in yet they did family law, and they didn't want to do it or didn't like to do it, so they kind of punt it all those cases to me and it was just something that I found I actually enjoyed, and I found that I could really help people or really advocate for the people who didn't have a voice to so and that was you know. I started that a couple months after I got married myself. intoned fast forward eighteen years in two divorces later. Here I am. I've lived in worked in space for a while now. I can't imagine. Marrying and then divorcing a divorce attorney that must have been terrified for him. You know what the you know what the funny thing is like. Despite doing this for work, I really hate conflict in my personal life, and it's something I'm working on, but that was so interesting. I would not like like I was like okay. Let's just do this. Let's just do this fast in. Move on what you want. The end let's focus on so from my first marriage I have a son, and the focus has been completely on him and co-parenting the second marriage barely counts because I was in an elegantly fast so. That didn't exist. The Britney Spears. Marriage were totally six hours in Las Vegas. Pretty Mum. It. What's interesting about that? And so I? You know I sort of I I love when we get a new gas especially with a topic that's outside of our air quotes, nor even though Kelly my co host and I have. I mean we tried to interview everyone with every walk of life every expertise, but what I really was interested in what I saw your name, pop I'm like? Oh! We haven't had this and we have so many parallels. The more eye steeped in all your stuff and girl I went through the to the bottom your instagram. Every podcast What I love the. Talk about enough newness you talk about shame you talk about that empowerment and reinventing new life and what I love about what you just said is. You Know Kelly and I work with folks that are in the anxious community. And we've been been through it ourselves. We wouldn't wish it on our worst enemies, and we both you know genuinely hate the experience that we went through. We're very thankful for what we went through. I I'm sure it's a whole that you have aspects of your life that you're thankful you. Did you went through the trials you went through? But it's we have to do it again. We might be in the same exact boot. Right yeah, and you know it's so interesting because exile. Hits I think anyone going through a divorce and you may have never experienced since I exiled, and if you're going through that, you're you know it's GonNa keep you up at night and I agree with you. Because everything that I had gone through made me. A better lawyer, a better advocate me more compassionate made me be able to talk to someone and say I. Know How hard it is to Co parent, but here's why you have to do it anyway, and it made me even the work I do today is all because of all the experiences that I had in the past why apps have absolutely no regret. Regret it really just helped me kind of find my purpose in mission and everything and I think that had i. not gone through that or made those mistakes I would have never been in that position to speak the way I. do about Shane about being true to who you are authentic in your life known shame such a big topic and it's one. It, you know, and it's the one that really honestly kicked started my path in my mission and kind of passion for all of this, because I never spoke about it I, did not talk about my own divorce, because I was so embarrassed in so ashamed of it,

Cancel Culture with Trevor Phillips
"Sudden attack on our ability to argue freely has actually been creeping up on us the quad a while, hasn't it? It's not new. I mean I think. It may suddenly come to. The attention of the public and the. Westminster. Crowd, but actually this is being an issue full probably now two decades, and it comes really from a very simple proposition, and that is this that we know that they're all. Ferry many difficult difficulties in society for some people for. Women, people minorities disabled people and saw. Some. People not me, but some people think that this is. Really down to. A lack of understanding of those groups on the part of man or white people. Those who are not disabled and that if you could somehow just change people's minds and attitudes than the problems to do with for example, underachievement school from some some ethnic minorities or The pay gap for women. I think which sort of disappear and I think that. For some folks who think that there's an easy route to the solution and that is. Summed up by the following. Proposition that if you can stop people saying things that are wrong, stop them thinking things that are wrong, so if you takeouts Kind of language that supposedly lead to people of Color, being denigrated and saw, and that will stop people thinking less well pickle of color, if you remove the language of sex difference than actually the bigotry or the the. Discrimination that is aimed at women will also dissipate now. This is all complete nonsense, but it is I think firmly believe amongst a lot of people, and so actually underneath the whole idea of the council culture platforming, and so on and so forth. Is Not just a sort of cavalier disregard or a source of simple bullying. It is part of a philosophy that says if we can stop people saying things, and we'll stop them thinking it, and we will get to a better world, and that of course is white so dangerous because it isn't bullen of just some so the passing fad. This is a very fundamental idea about how society should work. which, people don't going to be dispossessed all very easily, and so suddenly, despite Martin Luther. King taught us. We are as a society beginning to judge people by the color of their skin, not the content of their character, and from that comes council culture. While I think that we need to distinguish between. The your average person thinks. I don't think like that really I. Think most people in this country take the individual. They need as they are that that's a that's a separate thing from what you might call the decision makers who? Have a whole different set of imperatives, so they will be perhaps a bit obsessed by the proportions of male or female. Whitestone black whatever is. that. They have on their roster. It's A. It's a terrible thing for them to pay attention to that, but I think. Why don't you start to kind of be tyrannized by those kinds of categories and find yourself being constantly afraid of what people might say about you or about your organization? Then you start to lose sight of what really matters authorities in universities in some public services. A potential beginning to lose sight of what the point of diversity and equality is, it is not to have a SORTA perfect arithmetical representation of the nation at every table, and on every minute of every media outlet. It is to make sure that people are not excluded from opportunities for the wrong reasons for bad reasons.

We had in the context of messaging APP, Trans but few outside of China really understand how it works, and how it can pull off what for many companies and countries still far off? Vision of a world managed entirely through our smartphones. Many of which most interesting features such as access to city services are not even visible to users outside of China. So why should people outside of China even care about we chat? The first and most obvious reason is that points to where facebook and other messaging APPs could head. Second we chat indicates where the future of mobile commerce may lie. Third we chat shows us what it's like to be both a platform and a mobile portal what Yahoo could have been. Ultimately however we chat should matter to all of us because it shows what's possible when an entire country which currently has a smartphone penetration of sixty two percent. That's almost one third of its population leapfrogs. Era Directly to mobile. We felt was not a product started as a website, and then was adapted for Mobile to paraphrase a certain movie. It was born into it molded by. Most notable, however for anyone in the tech business, we average revenue per user or are Pu, which is estimated to be at least seven dollars us. That's seven. The arpaio of what's up the largest messaging platform in the world. So. How did we chat do it the first some background? WHAT IS WE CHOP? Known in Chinese as wishing which translates to micro letter, which had his first and foremost, messing up for sending texts, voice, and photos to friends and family. It was launched by Chinese Investment Holding Company. tencent one of the largest Internet companies in the world. As of earlier this year we chat have five hundred, forty, nine million monthly active users may use among over one billion registered users. Almost all of them in Asia to put that in context, that's only a one hundred, fifty, million Mau's fewer than facebook messenger, almost three acts the use of Japan's line and Tannock's Emma use of curious cow, which tends then is also an investor. Downloading. The APP is free and we has only just begun to experiment with advertising revenue. So where then does it's ARP magically liar? Especially when one remembers the difficulty of monitoring other universal utilitarian services like email, the short answer is that it offers a lot more functionality. Along with basic communication features we chat users in China can access services to hail a taxi order food delivery. Buy movie tickets play casual. Games check in for a flight. Some money to friends access fitness tracker data book Doctor Appointment Kept Banking Statements. Pay The water bill find Geo targeted coupons recognize music search for a book at the local library. Meet strangers around you follow celebrity news read magazine Articles, and even donate to charity all in a single integrated APP. And we chats case chat. not other content streams or search box is the Universal Ui. And while this post is not focused on design, it's worth noting that Chinese APPS. Ten combine as features as possible into one application something. We kind of course a supra. This is in stark contrast to Western APPs which leans towards APP constellation. Number One how we chat works the APP within an APP model changes everything we think we know about web versus mobile. philosophically while facebook and WHATSAPP measure growth by the number of daily and monthly active users on their networks, we cares much more about how relevant and central each artist and addressing the daily, even hourly needs of its users. Instead of focusing on building the largest social network in the world, we has focused on building a mobile lifestyle. Its goals to address every aspect of its users lies including the non-social ones. The way it achieves this goal is through one of the most uncertain aspects of we check the pioneering model of APPs with an APP. Millions not not just thousands of lightweight APPs live inside. We chat much like web pages live on the Internet. This makes which have more like a browser for mobile websites or arguably a mobile operating system complete with its own proprietary APP store. Not What we'd expect from a messaging APP! The light we some we chat are called official accounts. Approved by which had after a brief application process thorough well over ten million of these official accounts on the platform, ranging from celebrities, banks, media, outlets, fashion brands to hospitals, drugstores, car, manufacturers, Internet, startups, personal blogs and more. It's important to emphasize that these official accounts are nothing like verify accounts on US social networks. We're being official is mainly just a badge of authenticity or identity verification. On we chat official accounts are approved to access exclusive API's for payments location, direct messages, voice messages user, ID's and more now, not every official count uses these API's, but there are still millions of them, indeed, our APP like

"Fromnpr end wburandpetero'dowdandomnisomalians it's here and now the youngest ever detainee held at the us detention center quintanamobycuba is back in the news his name as omarqatar today he lives in canadathat's where he was born the cbc and other media outlets are reporting that the canadian government will pay qatar more than 10million and apologise to him for his miss treatment at guantanamodavidcochran is a senior reporter at the cbc'sparliamentarybureau he's in ottawadavid remind us who omarqatar is well omerqatar work was captured in afghanistana2002 after a battle with coalition forces he was just fifteen years old and his father was a strong alqaeda supporter and an alqaeda operative and he took his son off to be a jihadistyohiki used him as a messenger for alqaeda when he was in his is his early teenage years and then brought him to afghanistan and he was involved in a firefight in 2002 with with coalition forces and he's confessed to throwing a grenade that killed a usarmy medic named christopher spear and blinded another us soldier name lane morris in one eye and that's how he ended up in guantanamobay for his role in that battle having been brought there to afghanistan to fight for alqaeda by his father so at guantanamobay his lawyers entered a plea for him a plea of not guilty yes by the eventually moved on in and pleaded guilty over time to five warcrimes in including killing christopher spear and there's been some suggestion as it went on that this was coerced and he suggested that he he made this admission as his way out he saw a guilty plea in guantanamo is only way to be repatriated to serve his sentence in a canadian jail and he's now since the peel those convictions and that's working its way through the court process okay so how do we get to the point of the now where the canadian government decided to apologize to omanqatar who's now 30 years old and pay more than 10million yet we still don't have official confirmation from the government on the apology and the settlement we have it through leaks enter source were confirming that that would happen but the bottom line here is that the canadian government didn't have much of a choice i mean the supremecourtofcanada has ruled that canadian agency violated his rights a through their participation in interogations and.
