"Not protect you. I just love that I was just thinking as you were sharing your story about your father passing and you're stepping up into that moment you could've just as easily been the kind of person that continued to say. No but I'm I belong behind the scenes. I'm a quiet person. I'm not the person who gets out in front of people and do sermons and you missed the entire opportunity because of your vision of what we were instead of. What God's vision was for you? Every voice told me Joe. You're not qualified. You've not been to seminary you've not all these knots for poor get up on. Speaking on Sunday morning I would be so nervous. I would be practically nauseated during the week sometimes when it first started. But you know what I do what I tell people to do. I'd get in front of that. Mirren said you'll you are strong. You are well able you'll to do this so if you don't talk to your sale yourself we'll talk to you. I mean those thoughts will come naturally come but I think what you said it was right. I said that was a moment in destiny and the thing is I didn't know if I'd be good at this. You know I was. I thought you know what I can always do. I'm going to take this step of faith and tried and if it doesn't work out I'll go back to TV production because I was good at that but it but you know what you have to have that attitude. We'll see maybe it's not going to be final thing. But how am I gonNA know unless I try. And so you know. Faith is about taking taking some risks. Sometimes a lot of people give up their James Because of fear. You say we're closest to victory. I love this when we face the greatest opposition. Yeah we're closest when we faced the greatest opposition but that's so hard sometimes. It's so hard y'all know what I'm saying right. Yeah you have in your pushing the boulder up the hill. And you know what's Funny Oprah is sometimes God loves us so much that he sends us an obstacle now that may sound funny but what Made David King? It wasn't all the people. It was Goliath the enemy made him the king. So I'd say this the bigger you obstacles the bigger your future because God will send you. I say God will send you. God will allow difficulties. Because you know what? There's a big future in front of you. I love this system. Oranges turn and look. I know what you're thinking. I must got a big future. I just thought the bigger my future. The big amounts of out of all right Susan escaping in from Walworth New York. What's your question? Susan OPRAH HYPE TEEN. I have a great career Successful sales position. But it's not my passionate. It's not my dream. I really WANNA be in real estate and I need to be able to find the courage to move forward to leave the stability of that job into the world of the unknown. I'm not sure what lies ahead. I think Susan that you've got to be confident that God would not have given you that desire. He would have not giving you that dream unless he's already equipped you. You may feel fear but you have to do it. Afraid so you just have to take that step of faith and doesn't mean that everything's going to fall into place route right at the start. But you'll see God begin to open up the doors but I think the shame would be to come to the into your life and say what if I would have taken that step of faith? And that's what we none of us want to do to come to the end and have regrets so applaud you for not allowing yourself to be so comfortable to follow your passion because a lot of people won't do that but no. I believe you're one of the exceptions and May I say this is in. You're already more than halfway there. You just said to millions of people. I do not like my high paying job. I dream of being a realtor. But I'm afraid to do that. You just have stepped at you. Just did the big step. This was it. This is it now. Go be a realtor so I interviewed academy award winning actress Jennifer Hudson and her fiance. David Otunga turns out. David is a huge fan and a perfect example of somebody who was living someone else's dream Susan. He was living somebody elses dream. Like you're talking about now going. Ew Job at you really WanNa be a realtor so David is actually a harvard law graduate. Who gave up his career to pursue his dream of becoming a professional wrestler. David skyping in from Chicago. David your breath and I will say this. I think you just saw Susan a moment ago. Who wants to be a real third? Is Afraid of giving up high-powered job? I think what people were afraid of is what everybody is going to say because when I have to admit I was one of those people when I heard that you were you know. Harvard law which is very intimidating. And that you graduated law school all that and that you wanted to be a wrestler. I was among those people at first going for so I'm sure you heard a bunch of bunch of what's in your life did you not. Oh I heard it's fun. I mean people were like. Is this guy crazy here? He is working at law firm in Chicago over. This is the same firm that Obama worked at high everything. It's a dream job but it wasn't my dream. I always wanted to be an action star arrested so I knew that I could do it but it was just about taking that leap of faith and when it got to the point where I was like you know what if I just do this Donald. Carry me through so I went in and I made the biggest decision of my life. Everybody thought I was crazy but I gave up that dream job at the law firm and people wish I what did you. What did your parents say? You know what this is interesting. My mom was so proud of me. Arvid so proud of getting this job all of her friends but it was a conversation with her. They gave me the courage to do it. I told her you know what I wanted to do. She said David you know what I've always told you your special child. You can be whatever you want. You know you so focused but you just need to go in there and do it. Take that faith and easy to it. Wow so hearing that. You're that from my own. Mom was so out of his job. Telling me to go in and do it. I was like okay where you were you. Content at the at the lawyer job when you were at the Big Law Firm and you had the Harvard you still have the Harvard degree but were you content there or was there. Could you share with our audience? What that thing felt like that you needed to go that you needed to shirt okay. Sure it was. It was obviously high paying more money than I could spend a head. No worries super prestigious. Everybody wanted this job. But it didn't fulfill me you know like I felt like I can do more. I WANT TO AFFECT PEOPLE. I want to inspire people. I WANNA be a role model a motivator and so it's like I feel like I can do more and I would be better served guy used me better outside of here. Wow I hear you been taking notes. What's what's resonated with you tonight. I've already read all Joel's books and so it was just rigo it over some of this stuff but believe big and pray bold off you know. That's that's what my dreams were huge. I wanted to be an action. Movie Star arrested. It's pretty bold but you know what I mean the wwe my championship belts behind me. And I just wrote my first movie with Halle Berry. David thank you so much. Thank you thank you. Thanks skyping in say hi to Jennifer David Junior. Okay Pastor Joel. Final thoughts will not thought would be dream. Big Pray bold. What we talked about and also no get up each morning expecting God's favor a lot of people are not expecting good things in their life and what you expect you draw in. You know it's amazing how we get up expecting to hopefully make it through this year and just a lot of times. We're expecting bad brakes. But you don't want you gotta get up and say God. This is a gift you've given me. I'm expecting your favor because I'm your child and I'm expecting to meet the right people. The right opportunities the right doors and then doors to open and then in the meantime be patient the faithful where you are. God sees every day. Go to work. You get there on time again. You do the right thing when the wrong things happening when you do that. You are passing the test. You will one day closer to God getting you to where he wants you to be well. I can't say enough good things about the book I declare you say that our words have creative power which is really what we've been talking about here to understand that whenever we speak something either good or bad we give life to what we're saying and that too many people say negative things about themselves their families if futures and that the difference to be able to turn that around when you first start hearing yourself doing it yeah and to declare something different. It's so important. Yeah the words we speak are setting the tone for our life and so again I think you have to get up in the morning and speak those words of faith not just over you but speaking over your children like we heard some. While ago that somebody was told that they can't amount to much but what words people remember things that were said. Fifty years ago. They're setting the tone so I'd encourage speaking of your life and over your family. I'm Oprah Winfrey and you've been listening to Super Bowl. Conversations the PODCAST. "Now me dreaming big has never been about money or fame. I just happened to get it along the way. It's about the process of continually seeking to be better and my prayer. From the time I was a little girl was God. Use Me use me. Guide us me and it just so happens that God chose to use me in the world on a platform that caused me to have money and fame. I see that very clearly in my life. Yeah it's so important and what a great job you've done but that's that's the way. God is his dream our life big many times. We limit him. Because we think we'LL OPRAH I don't have the Education Ronald have the money I don't know the right people but what God never tells you to figure everything out. He says if you believe all things are possible and so I think that's a big part of it is just yes. Yeah taking the limits off him so I would have to say. We talked about this when I came to your house and interviewed you and Victoria that from a little girl I was looking at. What did I really believed? I believe I would sit on the on the second pew from the Front on the right every Sunday. That was my spot. I was baptized when I was eight years old and I really did believe when I look back at my life. I believed I was God's child and I believe that because I was God's child being born in Mississippi being born in the segregated South They Wanna. I really did believe that anything was possible for me. And that's what is carried me to the space and that's what we want to offer you all. You become what you believe and to believe that you are created by the power that's greater than yourself and that to live in that space means anything's possible and what you want in your life. What you really want is not your little piddly dreams for yourself. Because I had some piddly dreams. What you want to do is to be able to live in the space. That Beautiful Bible Burson Accident Says in God I move and breathe and have my being. You want to be able to live in that space of God's dream for you so the question I think is what is God's dream for you. We want to talk about. What is the difference between dreaming and wishing for something? I think most people spend their life. They wish for things they want things. I want a new car. I WANNA different than talking about. What is the big dream for yourself? I think the big dream for yourself is tied onto your purpose. It's bigger than just you. Meaning that your dream should be connected to helping other people as well. When it's when it's just like you said it just got a lot of money. I want to do this. But it's very different when you say I want to fulfill my purpose so I can be a blessing to others as well. Of course you're going to take care of your family. But it's it's about fulfilling your purpose which is believed. God's dream is always tops in some way to helping other people. Yes some way to making the world of whatever we have. We're here as a part of the human family to offer to ourselves and to the rest of the human family all right. So how would you save? I Love Kristen Miller said on facebook. "I got murder on my. Yeah No Mama. The Guy who actually killed his best friends and then wrote a song about it. Who's in jail for double murder? He got in there last night and he goes. Oh no how did you get a phone jail? He's want he's on. He's in Jason Jail on charges for murder. I don't know I'm assuming it was a family member or a manager or something that controls the instagram. Now who got in on the air? But that's how far it's gone every celebrity you can think of had popped in there at one point or another last night and he didn't even have time to talk to them because there were so many porn stars who wanted to get on like man. Where are we were and he was talking about like he would click on some of his favorite NBA players and shit. And you were just like they were fanning out like they were on the big like they were on the biggest show on the planet. I mean it's it's crazy to see you were just like what is happening to the culture that you're just like fuck man. I'm I'm dying to get on someone's instagram live. Crazy absolutely crazy. Yeah but every time I say we've reached peak twenty twenty. We haven't something else is going to pop up gay. I wish it was the UFC fight. But you know it's been now you wait for another month no wh- for the NFL draft is still going on and that's going to be virtual from People's houses and again the only thing that is GonNa Stop. That is the players walking up on stage and shaking the right commissioners hand and. I feel bad for those kids. You work your entire life for that moment and then sorry yeah. Sorry about it. Especially Joe Borough. That guy just keeps getting fucked. Didn't get started the highest state Juburi Champion quarterback from Lsu didn't get started. Ohio state had to transfer had to go through Shittier with lsu. Then one wins. Finally National Championship has the greatest year. A quarterback could possibly have is going to go first drafts. You know all you want to do is hold up that number one jersey. It is a you join a club of you and sixty other people in the history of the world and now we're going to do it from home this year. Yeah God dammit man but is that going to be on you. You probably have more eyeballs and Tori lanes instagram. Go on there there. You go sucks. It sucks and then now we were going under more restrictions here The Shit Dude. I know you know I know might have to pop on hosting maybe hosting does have the answers. Japes it's supposed to be. Yeah Yeah it's supposed to be what thought it was going to be done on the thirtieth it is okay. The wells twenty more days for us. Thanks yeah so. This is the lockdown for supposed to be. But I'll be honest with you. Why are you going with more restrictions? Now because April's supposed to be the peak I guess come on man come on. Man. I don't know I just listened to the church. I don't listen to I I just I just listen to Tony French. I listen anyone you know we know all we all know that's true. What else is disappointing? This week was the pink moon was going to be twenty minutes. Not even not even up Everyone's like I didn't really see it happened but I didn't really do we didn't we didn't get a PC at that. You know so you know it's weird. It's weird shapes. We need something to happen. Yeah somethin' yeah. Something's gotta since to rise up here right. Maybe it's Christ on Sunday cash. You know something's gotTa change here not going to. That's got to I know but it's not going to got to. That's the bummer of it. Right where like? Maybe we're maybe I'm just now coming to terms. It's been everyone else's like week three. I'm like hey dude. This sucks like the first day I so I bought shit tunnel liquor before like right before the lockdown happen and all this shit because we heard that there were possibly shutting on the liquor stores or having curfews which they are actually doing. Chicago just went under that curfew on the liquor stores. People are starting to get rowdy. Cher people are starting to lose their shit and we still got three more weeks of this. Chicago's probably got even longer to be honest with you. Yes and so you can expect things to get violence real quick all. I'm hearing sirens outside the back of this bitch. So it's like a weird. It's an eerie feeling right. Yeah like driving to the office today with that. Being closed the starbucks being closed which you guys. Have we ever seen a starbucks closed? Like have you ever been like shit you know so starbucks closed and then like driving through this neighborhood. Come into the office. Things felt very on edge in eerie. That like we're just in the beginning of some kind of revolt some kind of yeah craziness for people like are going to snap. Maybe I don't know look I can tell you this I tell you before we left the house it was like you know what I'm GonNa say. Fuck you it's like what? Yeah let's not talk like that and you're like Oh sorry sorry sorry. Sorry about the science like forget who you are sometimes and. I'm like bro Bro. Bro Yeah took off my Easter costume. Yeah Easter Bunny Costume. When I came into work and I said I love kidding. I right before we left the house. I said I think I'm going to drink hard liquor tonight and you should so up the hole in the front of that You spend the whole in the front hotmail. I gotTa let the. It's funny but like I think we should sell that up. Got To let the continental breakfast breathe if you will so siege and the eggs Wa and the Ranchero the mini croissants. Anyway what were we talking switching or hard liquor I go? This is the time like I'm starting to reach a where it's like. I'm going to grow up with some hard liquor tonight. You know really take the edge off here that today. I'm feeling a little bit on edge but all the shit it was the UFC thing that three over. By the way I really was I thought again and we talked about this a few days ago but I thought sports is a good pre precursor of like when sports comes back to normal my life. End Your Life Your life is not going to be good for a long time by the way. Wow thank you. They're not going to be able to film any real housewives of anywhere anytime soon. And it's like we're programming is going to be real week. I know sports was GONNA come back with shoved in your face. Twenty four hours a day your production on all that shit is a negative. Oh I now I talked to a couple of my brose from Los Angeles last night was like what's it looking like for you guys out there production-wise with all the shit news man because They don't think they're locked. Down is going to end until the end of June. Yeah they're saying for la which makes sense is what it looks like New York. It's one of those hot zones and you have a dip shit governor same as New York. So it's like yeah. You guys are probably lockdown until fucking October. Maybe around but for production wise The reason why that's a big deal is all of your meetings for an entertainment out of New York in La. Yeah so you can't even take those meetings and if you can't take the meetings can't read the scripts can't give notes can have writers. Those writers rooms twelve people apiece as you're over that capacity broand So I don't know if your shit is coming back for a while. Once sports comes back. Daddy's good right. I worry about you because you started reading aggressive murder books from Amazon where there is very violent. Pictures you in the past Didn't go down that route. You See. It's like see the gory stuff. There isn't any course of not. Just blow it all over the cover of the book. Yeah Yeah Yeah Okay just see know what you're reading about inside but no yeah. You're a little Ding. Dong the cover of the book and they have to. They have to get you in the sell it. Yeah I understand that But when our six year old was in bed. And you're reading that Just with the cover out and blood all over the country so I saw the before I went upstairs to write last night And blew kisses to the both of YOU GUYS. I saw him. You know Watching Pencil mate on Youtube for kids and you know just little pencil animations and his mom sitting in bed next to him with a book covered in blood. Just said your favorite serial killer. Yeah I was like what if he takes a peek at what mom's looking at and yeah no I get it. Yes the bloody gloves and shovels full blood and holes dug up and things like that. And I'm like yeah. I wonder what he thinks that there's no picks in there at all now. No one's a one looks like a coffee table book. Yeah but there's no pictures others now just descriptions just descriptions of every serial killer or someone that's killed more than one person. Okay ever. What is so? What is the the fascination with White Women in serial killers like in murders? Can you know that because you're not the only one? No no no no no it is. I feel like every real thing yes. Whites mom is is addicted to these. Ciro killer stories and I don't I don't know why it's a number of. It's a couple of different things for me. it's sort of fascinating to hear and read testimony in stories of people that are so far mentally from where you could ever be right so how someone for most people it's like there's little differences between us. Things are different. Whatever the most part you can kind of figure out why they would do what they're doing or like what's making them feel the way that they feel. But there's this other group of sociopath psychopath serial killer crazy people that their rationale and the things that make them do the things that they're doing are completely out of the realm of anything you could ever think about okay. So there's that fascination of like Holy Shit like there are people out there that can literally just kill someone else and feel good about it and like feel no remorse whatsoever and do weird ass shit with the bodies have no problem being around these like dead people taking off skin like dismembering like that insane to think about someone could do that right. And then there's also this other part of I think as white women or women not white women just women in general hopefully white women now. I mean. It's all different kinds of women but anyway I think we are no for so long. We're just like victim. The victim of all these like most of these are women as victims. Okay for the most part. There's some sexual shit that goes on. And then they give fucking killed right and I think.

How Metal Toxicity Affects Health And Aging

"You're going to one hundred eighty you're going to be full of metals metals inhibit metal Kendra function. They lower your testosterone because hair loss they caused grain and they cause cancer As was actually a whole bunch of other diseases you've got to lower your exposure to them and you have to get rid of them as you live. Hi I'm K- pro. At one of the producers of the doctors pharmacy podcast genetic variations. Make some people more prone to heavy metal toxicity. Some of us are very very good at detoxifying while others are not in this mini episode Dr Hyman shares his personal experience with mercury poisoning in conversation with founder and CEO of bulletproof. Three Sixty Dave asprey. Let's listen in there's compounds I read about called key leading agents that you can take with your food when I eat Sushi. You need the fat from. I'm fishing. I take cla which is a fracture. Also while Klerl will bind to the mercury in the Gutsy poop it out but clearly will not pull mercury out of your brain so so what you end up doing is over time you lower the incidence of metal entering your body and you slowly remove. What's in your body and I talk about how to do that in the book but if you don't know that metals matter and you're just sort can you roger how much metals you have in your system and yeah there's two ways in supreme that I write about the gold standard is you collect urine and see what your body's excreting with or without an agent that may cause you to release more and more common and cheaper way but less telling is a hair test and there's usefulness for both of those but you can go to functional medicine doctor and say I'd like to do have medals test and they're usually order a urine test for you and it's it's very common to find elevated mercury and lead in fact if you're over forty you're probably going to find it? Yeah so here. He let me share the practicing physician. Who won suffered suffered from mercury poisoning added to and to have straighted literally tens of thousands of people with mental poisoning and have done tens of thousands of tests? And I would say it's probably one of the most ignored and underappreciated causes of chronic disease. He's that doctors don't know how to think about well. Measure and personally for me. I lived in China. It got huge exposure to mercury. I don't have great jeans detoxifying. And it destroyed every system to my body yet destroyed my gut. I had diarrhea for for years and bloating and pain. It destroyed my might Aqa Andrea. I develop chronic fatigue syndrome and there was such an extreme version that my muscle enzymes were high my CBK's wok six six hundred. My liver was affected. My immune system was affected. I sort of rashes and sores all over I was completely cognitively impaired. I couldn't focus distinct concentrate remember I was you know in your your thoughts. This is like you know twenty five years ago and I was so bad and I literally had to become an expert in mercury and heavy metals detoxification. And I've written a lot about it but I think you know I would say that for many of my patients who suffer from weird a strange elements. It's ready things to look at and the only way to really know what your body burden is. You can look at your blood but that only ninety. Yeah I mean if you're eating a lot of Sushi you'll it's high but I'd ages stop. It'll go away. You can look at your urine but you're in also wasn't going to be high unless there's an current exposure so if the lead foundry or your you know eating tons of Sushi I might see a little bit of mercury the only way to really look at your body burden. It's a challenge test where you take a pill. It's a key later. And you clicks this year and for six hours hair tests also check for fish methylmercury which is where we mostly get our our mercury from that that also will go away if you haven't eaten fish for awhile and then there's another test that looks at the blood work that measures the inorganic mercury which comes from pollution in or from fillings. And that's called the quicksilver test and that that is surprisingly when people have a mouthful of fillings and you can see the difference between fish or or or or Ah Dental Mercury. I and the treatments are depending on the person you know can be very aggressive depending on what they need a guy. I've a patient. WHO's got this terrible herbal autoimmune disease and giving her intravenous support other people can do is oral support? There's medications but it's it's it's a whole process. It has to be done safely. I think your point is really well taken. I think it's an under served. An under appreciated component of medicine and a hopefully one day. We'll get on board with this just because it's just I mean it was interesting there was there was a An article near Time said I was quoted and it was based on the special forces. Oh yeah the says get lead right. Yeah so this guy. This guy came to see me. Whose job was he was a special forces guy who was a blast expert so they go blow up stuff you know blow up doors up up this and they had to train and practice and they had indoor practice training and and these guys were getting all sick and out you know the special forces? This guys aren't lingers. They're not Weiner's I don't feel good at work. Those aren't those guys either guys who stay in freezing ice water for an hour and swim right right right and do four thousand pushups and like you know. Don't sleep for three days. I mean these guys are not Weiner's humans and so the guy came in. I'm like okay. Well tell me you want your job like oh we blow stuff up we shoot like Oh okay and so I said let's check your heavy metals. And they were sky high. We put him there whole program. He was metabolically. Quiz system was working. He was overweight. PREDIABETES had cognitive functioning immune issues gut issues all got better and then he started sending special forces guys to us us. We start treating them and they just got better and one of them was written about in the New York Times how has his medical crew and everybody dismissed him and he completely turned around and the guy who is the lead expert at Mount Sinai who measures bone lead which is the most accurate way to measure leading the body. It's not an easy easy available commercial test but it's a very powerful research tool. He said these guys had really high levels of lead and he said on the follow up tests he saw the level's come way down and he says he's never seen that in his entire experience and this is a guy who was an expert in. How can you be an extra in lead in not know how to the body drives me nuts? It's not because it's not seen as a problem acute poisoning yes chronic poisoning. No and there's nothing you can do about it. It's just nonsense and there's in fact an FDA approved drug called the MSA yes Zayn for lead removal and actually removes mercury. So I think you know people listening if you have any stranger where two elements if you have anxiety. Depression Russian insomnia autoimmune disease gut issues fatigue. Cognitive issues it may well be heavy metals and And you need to find a good functional medicine doctor to help you diagnose that are you gonNa Functional Medicine Dot. Org Ifm Dot Org and you can find a practitioner. Who May know how to do this? I I'm GonNa go a little bit broader than go. If you are over fifty you and you have not gone through a course of action. You are not doing aging right. You have to do this if you are alive in the modern world and you wanna live to a highly functional old age and the reason I say this is that the safe. EPA limits for lead us to be twenty parts per million and they cut his forty goes forty two twenty ten to five five and now they're finding even down to one. They're seeing cognitive impairment and kids cognitive impairment and increased risk of cardiovascular disease and now the people who are the experts in letter saying quote there is no safe limit of lead in. If you are forty or fifty you cannot be alive and not have a lead burden in your body. You must remove it and it's not that hard especially if you're not really sick it's not gonna be a big deal and it's so strange because medicine just ignores this but in the journal circulation which which is one of the top cardiology journals. It was a paper number years ago that showed that if your level was over two which is quote within the normal which which by the way affects almost forty percent of the population. Has Your risk of stroke goes up eighty nine percent. The risk of a heart attack goes up one hundred and fifty percent. The risk of death goes up from a heart attack fifty five percent and this is more than smoking or cholesterol. Wake and it's like. Why doesn't your cardiologists talk to you about this? So what are the. What are the basic tips? If you're not getting a key. lated what are the basic tips for detoxifying detoxifying not just metals or you mean metals metals. Like how I mean. How or it all works for everything but how do you? One of my favorite compounds is glued Afyon and you can increase glucose levels by increasing vitamin C. BY TAKING NS Beatles osteen I- manufacturer glorify on pill. You can get intravenous glutathione which acid and you do you go to find out your clinics right. Yeah Yeah and we do it at upgrade labs in La for people to recover better. I'm Alpha LIPOIC. ACID is another thing selenium can help and and Zinc zinc can help the natural key later Cilantro but surprisingly. You WANNA take to launch only after you've removed most of the metal from your body because Asandra can actually move heavy metals into the brain because it's one of the things that can also penetrate the blood barrier so you go through and you say you know I'm just going to build some of these in on a regular because base and then you need fiber and P and sweat shocking. "Ready bar live in our very special guest. He's been called the voice of hope pastor for a new generation. Houston's own on Joe I love Pastor Joel you know a few months ago. I saw one one of his sermons called I am and I said now. That is a life class. I instantly sent him a text because we text the job because he was basically teaching one of my all time. Favorite life lessons in that. Is you become what you believe. But it was was so simple. He said whatever follows. I am is going to come looking for you. Who did you not get an? Did you not have uh-huh so for example. How in that just really changed? The way I look at my life I thought it was so powerful for example. How many of you are saying to yourself yourself right now? I'm okay or I'm so broke. I'm so fat. We all do it from time to time. But I'm telling you when I heard that sermon it is i. I catch myself when I'm saying those. Im so myself if that's what you've been putting out in the world and that's what's GonNa lead you to where you are right now. The Path to defeat so pastor. Joel says it's simple. Your Life is how you see it and that is what we're going to learn is to change though it. Yes we're going to. The we are get get started with the man who says thing. Just think about that for a moment. Just take that in. Imagine any thing is possible. If you have the faith to believe it you agree. Can you say that every Sunday in his televised sermons reach over ten million people worldwide pastor. Joel Stein is one of the most influential creatures of our time. His lakewood church has forty thousand members the largest and most diverse ministry in the United States. I believe today is a new day. Hearts parts are starting to beat again dreams coming back to life. Passion is being restored. Your greatest victories are still future. Please welcome pastor Joel. OL- old steam. It's it's so wonderful to be in your hometown. We love having you here was here. I was at your church. Yeah we love having you. Well this is. This is sort of a church. Yeah this is life class and as you know I love your. I am sermon so much that I texted you immediately and said wow. I just had a big a hobby because obviously I know and believe and trust and have they but the simplicity of whatever follows. Iam Cam is going to come looking for you. Just really was a was a big Aha. Yeah you know for so. Many people don't realize the way they go through rely is I think they've just been trained that way but like you were saying I am so tired and I am on luck and I never get any good breaks but when you speak that out. You're sitting tone your life always tell people if you want to know what you're going to be like five years from now listen to what you're saying about yourself right now. You can't go around. You can't go around. I'm saying all day that I'm not attractive and I'm never getting the good breaks and I'm a lousy mother. That's just going to draw in negative defeat and things that are going to keeps you from God's Plan I love that whatever follows I am is going to come looking for you because whatever follows it i. This just happened to me recently. Really I was so tired and all day saying I'm so I am so tired and what I realize I was getting more and more tired and then I thought about the sermon I said how can I turn this around and for me. I can't immediately go to. Im so energized. Because I wasn't so I was trying to think what back so I can't go. I'm so energized. I'm outline to myself as I'm not. But what can I use in between two. I started to say I am looking forward to my second win. I am looking forward to my second win and it came you know. I think that's that's true. You could say just what you said and I am refreshed and being restored and yes. You know things like that. You don't have to go to the extreme go to the extreme. How did you come to that? The what was what what what spark of God happened that made. Did you conclude that whatever follows. I am is GonNa come looking for you. I think. Sometimes we make things so complicated but it's the simple things that keep most people people back. I think naturally we not not everybody but if when you're lying in Bid Lotta Times you'll think about. Oh Man I don't feel like going to work and you can rehearse the the problems or you can rehearse what happened yesterday and it starts at the beginning of the day. So that's what I think is so important when you first get out of bed in the morning found something to be grateful for you. You know you may not feel perfectly well but you've got your family. You don't have your job but you got a great place to live. You got some friends so you start the day off. You set the tone right at the beginning of the day before you check the stock report before you check the weather before you you know if the open their smartphone once you start into that you're you're captivated by by whatever is going on in the outside world. Do you know what I do the first thing when I opened my eyes. I've trained myself to do. This is to say thank you. That's the first thing that's awesome. The meister Eckhart said years ago the thirteenth century missing that. If the only prayer you ever say in your whole life is thank you. That will be enough but I start with thank you. So what do you say to these people who tweeting right now. Who are saying? I am somebody Peggy Smith. I am lost the Peggy you should I am found change. We all have that recording play in in our mind and I think you know simple things. I am confident I'm secure. I am talented. I am creative. I am disciplined. I am focused. Simple thing you know Oprah Oprah I really believe some women have never said once I am beautiful. Because they're looking at all their flaws they're looking at. Hey Man I don't like her. I don't look like them but listen isn't listen ladies when you say I am beautiful. You know what you're doing you're inviting beauty to come in your inviting. You know what you're saying. I don't think I've never said I'm beautiful. I say okay. Let's say that ladies. I invited and Oprah. It's not it's not magic but those words go go out of our mouth and they come right back Dr own ears. They start to change our own self image and this is not magic but you go around saying all day. I'm blessed I'm beautiful beautiful. I'm talented I'm valuable I'm creative. I'm disciplined that's doing something on the inside of you. It's affecting your own self image so back to your. That's what you're hearing about yourself. We get that right. What you're hearing about yourself? So how does the words begin to enforce the action. Well I think when you hear yourself saying that it's going to give you the confidence rather than saying I'm overweight and all the other is just going to push you down. I mean when you hear your your own words in your own image gap's getting healthier every day unless I'm getting fat I'm fat..

Britain's Conservative Party Conference Gets Underway in Manchester

Britain's Conservative Party Conference Gets Underway in Manchester

"The Conservative Party conference is getting into full swing in Manchester in more normal times. Britain's parliament would be in recess so the party could lay out its plans the these are not normal times lawmakers are back at work while much of the ruling party has elsewhere the big policy pronouncements are spilling out concerning earning new hospitals and spending on roads but the theme of the conference is get brexit done just what Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been saying so doggedly and with new scandals that emerged over the weekend that might become unbelievably. Even harder was a very strange moods at the toy party conference in Manchester. Our political correspondent Dunkin Robinson is in Manchester soaking up the atmosphere on the one hand you go boys. Johnson define minister marching around being applauded by activists S. wherever he goes and on the other hand you've got Boris Johnson the prime minister on the front page of newspapers being accused of a whole host of misdemeanors and what are they well. There's two quite serious. Allegations being made against Mr Johnson I is with regards to a high profile journalist Charlotte Edwards who alleged that Miss Johnson groped her after dinner while he was editing a magazine called spectator in nineteen ninety nine so she alleges that Mr Johnson squeezed her thigh. I under the table and she also said that. The woman who sat on the other side of Mister Johnson also had the same experience. This Johnson denies all this but we're in a different situation now where were in one thousand nine hundred nine. This is a sort of post me to scandal and it's a serious problem for the Conservative Party because the number of cabinet ministers have already had to resign for similar allegations literally for impropriety with female journalists but you said scandals in the plural what else the other scandal is to do with a woman Jennifer Curry who is a businesswoman and model who if if you've opened a newspaper this weekend allegedly had an affair with Mr Johnson now. This isn't a professional problem for Mr Johnson in Illinois of itself but the problem mm-hmm is that hub business received a number of grants and went on trades trade missions with Miss Johnson while he was mayor of London again. Mr Johnson denies he did anything wrong with that. Those no interest declare the journalists is still digging amounts on this topic and it could run in one will these these are not the talking points that Mr Johnson would would would like to be bouncing around the Tory conference. What would you like to be talking about an absolutely no this was supposed to be Johnson's sort of Kuda theater. This was his moment where he burst osteen is as prime minister laid out his vision for Britain's future and his vision for Britain's future is is basically two sets. The first step is they're going to get brexit done. That's the phase oh he's they using and the second step it involves just spraying a public services with lots of cash ahead of any election and as for Brexit. How's that going for Mr Johnson. I mean there have been some embarrassing stories about how it's gone so far yes so far that the cunning plans hatched by. Downing Street haven't quite gone to plan so they had a scheme which involves suspending Alma for five weeks which was much longer than it has been suspended suspended for any point since the second will and that fell apart when the Supreme Court struck that down as the legal and the problem with that is that Bush Jonson technically used the powers of the Queen so in effect the Prime Minister the had accidentally forced the Queen's Bake the law which is the one thing you're not supposed to do when your prime minister you're supposed to the queen out of politics and boys. Johnson had dragged actor into politics in the most embarrassing way possible so that means that reportedly this weekend he did actually give an apology to the queen which is an obvious question balancing but in an embarrassing another level because you also supposed to reveal any conversations halfway queen when you're prime minister so it's a double whammy and in the course of all that mess mister. Mr Johnson managed to sack quite a few members of his party now. There's this party conference in Manchester while who plenty of parliament is at work back in London where those sacked. MP's now all of the place some have come to Manchester some her stay away and some have joined the parties and I think it's fair to say that those who who've come are hopeful that there will be some form of future for them within the Conservative Party and the others who joined to the parties while I I think they've given up on it and so what about the ones who have gone to Westminster. What what do you expect to happen in Parliament this week in Westminster. There's going to be a strange atmosphere because this problem was supposed is to be in recess which is sort of a step up from from being suspended. There were the bits and bobs going on but they're not going to be doing votes except after all the Shenanigans involving suspending parliament frankly the rest of don't trust the current government so they refuse to give them a recess which means that parliaments is still technically sitting which means gene parliament can still be passing laws and if you'll all your MP's in Manchester while in peace one of the politics a leaves you quite vulnerable legislatives shenanigans so this seems an increasingly extraordinary set of circumstances for for Mr Johnson personally politically. I mean he's beset at every turn. Do you think that he ends and and his supporters will be able to get past. All this mess. Eight does feel like everything is going wrong. But if you speak to people Mister Johnson's camp they're extremely bullish and they have some reason to be. They all well ahead of Labour in the polls and most polls they have about a ten point lead which if is born into coming election we'll turn into a big conservative majority and that way happiness lies for them but the main advantage is the fact that Boris Johnson is preferred as the Prime Minister A to Jeremy Corbyn the Labor Party leader of the opposition Jeremy Corbyn is remarkably unpopular with the general public so Mister Johnson's extremely lucky in his opponent but if your main advantage is the fact that people like Johnson's Alita having Johnson surrounded by these scandals. This is certainly going to be a big big problem but the main benefit that Johnson has is that here's this strange almost donald trump ish ability too wide scandal that would kill off other politicians. I mean Mister Johnson might survive. These scandals is his party might end up with a majority but what about longer term the party itself. It couldn't possibly be more fragmented. Get the toys split on Europe as they have been full the past quarter of a century there is this hope among conservatives that once Brexit is over with that they can just focus on other things but Bert Brexit is not one of those stories that will disappear this is GonNa hang over British politics for the next ahead also so if the toys are hopeful that and they can forget brexit done that is in an endpoint posts they might be sorely mistaken

"You. Brian. If there's something I like more than megachurches as mega pastors Joel Osteen is the king of them. He's a Houston televangelist and he's in hot water with the internet again because he opened his big fat smiley mouth during an interview with the Christian post. I think that's what irritates me the most about him. Is that the smile? Oh, I'll tell you what irritates me the most that he has fifty four million dollars in doesn't help poor people. That's that's probably not and to me. It's still mile. I this the rich the rich. Selfishness second now. That's right. What did you say that he didn't opened the doors? No, that's yes. I let me just refresh. Anybody who doesn't know who this guy is now if you haven't had the pleasure of being Houston, and Mike who is very familiar with this, man. Let me give you sit background. He is the pastor at Lakewood church mega church that is so fucking big. They had to buy the summit, which is where the Houston Rockets used to play then was called the Compaq center. And now is where liquid church does their sermons on whatever I guess, they do one two a day. Who knows it has an operating budget of ninety million dollars in one point two million dollars spent on actual outreach? What what is outreach me to to help disadvantaged? Yep. Yep. Now during hurricane Harvey as a sandwich saying Joel tweeted out the addresses of shelters, but told people not to bother to come to Lakewood because it was inaccessible. But then a couple people in Houston who I would like to have been friends with when I lived there drove down to the stadium and tweeted a bunch of pictures of the barely moist building. And then I guess Jesus was on Twitter that day because he told Joel that he'd better opened his doors. And then he did do that finally after he was shamed. On the internet. He did open its doors to people who are struggling. When Joel is not busy keeping people's wet galoshes out of his church. He's fretting about being in a room with a woman, who's not as wife, one of those the Mike Pence Mike Pence special now, I should say to they are in. I wanted to mention they do practice out of the summit and the only sleep I get at night, knowing all those people are in there is that I was fingered at a BC boy concerts that concert there. And that stink in that air that like disgusting. Within no high school. Nobody gets fingered as an adult and a concert. It's some shit. You do when you're I did it recently. There was a Rachmaninoff concert at the bull LA did at the Disney hall beautiful. You know, what's funny about that? Because of the accused six you could hear you the fingering all the way on the other side of the room. Yeah. That's why do you think it did it? I haven't put the time into a good fingering in a while Taku sticks practice on yourself. Oh, you figure yourself at the Rachmaninoff. Maybe. With popcorn and one hand. Opera glasses on my face. Is that where you got the getting off at Rachmaninoff shirt? Yes. So. This is known as the Billy Graham rule, aka also known as the Modesto manifesto is that where he was out of Billy Graham, oh, he must've been because I thought it was a funky way to say modesty. It must be might be right. It was made reface by Mike Pence and the rule states that the only way to stay for Christian men to stay Christian and avoid temptation is to never be alone in a room with another woman unless you're married to her this all came about when Billy hit the road. Brainwashing. People around the world about us off brand of Christianity. And he saw one after another Christian missionary man fall to the prey to the wiles of women from that day on he said, I did not travel meat or eat alone with a woman other than my wife. Right. So let's give the past just for a second the whole your dick thoughts are not the responsibility of women. Right. And also the idea that there's no way you could possibly control yourself or like the fact that like, oh, just because you wanna fuck me. I wanna fuck you asshole. Like that. It's not just oh you wanna fuck me. Then it happens not how fucking works. I'm not. I'm not a piece of meat. All that aside. It. Creates an insane..

"But it was an amazing experience being locked into the sacristy of this Osteen chapel. You literally have to go into the Sistine Chapel in the new take door off of it and very are with his incredible collection of objects that are still in use by church. So this is different from museum. This is the sacristy collection. Unfortunately, my time there was very brief and so I had to be very focused on what I was trying to achieve. And so my goal was to I view every object quickly assesses condition and whether or not it had to be treated before it would come to was I measured each object to make sure that we could potentially like pre build amount before it arrived. You know, when it arrived at the museum, we only had in a very short time to mount them in. So I knew that we could kind. Of pre load a lot of the work if I could get the right measurements. So I've you'd everything conditioned it briefly measured it. And then I also answered any questions that are curator's might have had regarding specific technique or material I was in and out very quickly. I wish I could have stayed but had work to do. And so after I returned to the lab, then our team created a plan for mounting, the objects that could be executed quickly safely and kind of in a modular way so that the objects really appear as if they're just floating on this poll and the mounts are completely integrated into the objects. They hopefully are invisible. And you know, I'm not going to give away all of our secrets. It is safe and it is beautiful, and it was a pretty simple system that we actually ended up using in. So there are those dome Matic's or some beautiful copes. They're also this room that is full of TR's on display. One of which in particular was a gift from Queen Isabel. The second of Spain to pass the ninth in eighteen fifty four and it was giving us a sign of respect and devotion. It's composed of Amir, nineteen, thousand precious citizens. The majority of which diamonds. And when I I thought I remarked that it was impressive that the Lapid paint on the back where stiff enough to hold themselves out to which you pointed out that actually they were not holding themselves out. There is a mount constructed, so meticulously the color matches lining. So precisely that it is indistinguishable? Yes, yes. Again, our work is only done well, if you don't notice what it is that we're doing right. Edible. Yeah, the laugh. It's are really heavily jewelled and embroidery. And we were worried about them dangling without support over the course of the exhibition because we didn't want them to tear at the connection points because of the cumulative effects of gravity. So for the Kiara and mitre mount specifically, we purchased fabric that matched the lining of the lap. It's so that we could disguise the mounts and then we worked with our colleagues are objects conservation department at remember, these are the same colleagues who helped us install the mannequins flat. They specialize in mounting, three d objects of all kinds on. They were responsible for mounting pretty much every object in that entire gallery, including all of the mazing rings jewelry, pectoral costs everything in. So in working with them, we were able to devise this mount that we felt safely stabilized on support. The lap IDs womb feely disappearing. And so why you see, hopefully when you go in is just the object, not our work up Lutely on it's stunning. It is an incredibly beautiful exemptions. Congratulations to you. All. Thank you. Yes, congrats Sarah to you and your team. The show is really incredible. And so is Sara April. She is such Iraq's are field. Do you know that she actually currently getting her PHD at Bard as well, studying theory and practice of fashion and design conservation. She also curated an exhibition of last year called the secret life of textiles and that materials, and she is quite literally brought a face to her profession in the way that just did not exist before and might just say that she herself is incredibly silage. Is that weird that I wanna be her when I. I think you already are just a different way. Yeah. And she's she's really wonderful also because she gives so much credit to each and every individual on her team and other people within the department. And you can see some of the work that Sarah and her team do in quite a few videos. We will provide links on our website which is dressed podcast dot.
