Is Trump Losing the Midwest?
"Welcome to the be I'm Ari Melber and we are tracking some new sides. Trump campaign is worried about losing the Midwest and thus the entire race to Joe Biden trump spending precious time and resources on defense and state carried by wapping ten points. Last Cycle Iowa Biden is closing that gap and putting the state in a dead heat I was one of the thirty nine states Kobe is surging appointed his greeting donald trump's visit many voters their view this campaign homestretch through the prism of covert. And the criticisms not just coming from Joe Biden or the Resistance Iowa leaders, public health experts, independent writers all noting the trump is coming back now for votes after turning his back on the crisis there take the influential Des Moines Register stating that after jeopardizing our live from far. Trump decides to visit Iowa in person. Or take a look at this. You can't pull up trump's I will rally tonight without seeing this massive billboard pointing the way to yes. A super spreader of. Trump is plowing forward on breaking CDC guidelines lying about the risk of Colbert and the timing of vaccine and repeating two thousand sixteen claims in that state and in other key battleground states that from what we're seeing on the ground and our reporting may not play as well. Right now Democrats, say many measurable signs show that some voters are now onto the con- take a local paper in the state of Pennsylvania noting that trump is just recycling is two thousand, sixteen jobs message, which may work less during the current recession while the president blows up these stimulus talks this week. And his key groups like suburban women turn on Donald Trump that's according to internal polling newly obtained by politico or senior citizen's wavering on trump group that he needs for a winning coalition in several of these states, and since we were last on air just last night, roughly three more million ballots are in leading to nearly fifteen million total ballots cast, which again is vital because it may lock in votes at a time when Donald Trump appears down. So. If you follow all this stuff, you could see the facts trump's record are hurting him. But with the second debate canceled this week, not everyone's falling all the details which is important to keep in mind and that's true. We checked even in some key states that the candidates are visiting even for people who do read the paper. Take Florida which so many politicos obsessed over even when the candidates are on the ground I wanNA show, you hear a fairly typical big city paper, the Orlando Sentinel, the twenty, twenty race it's not the very top story or line. It's not top two on the right. You have to squint there and find it. We put it in red for you below the full in the very lower right hand corner, and that's with the nominee Joe Biden on the ground. Elections are one on preference and turnout. Popularity or preference really helps. But turnout commander more. That's how unpopular person like Donald trump managed to eke out a win in the electoral college in the first place even though remember he never pulled very high. He never pulled past fifty percent and he finished with few voters supporting him in our weird. Constitutional System. By right now, thanks from that evidence. We showed you in what we've been showing you throughout the week that they are up. So they're laser on taking that preference and trying to get the turnout with these growing leads states that trump won in two thousand sixteen big leads in some places above the margin of error and the question is, can the Democrats actually turn all those people out? I want to bring in someone who knows all about this polling Guru Cornell Belcher who worked on both Obama campaigns and wanting to taller the national political director for supermajority, which focuses ongoing political opportunities for women good evening to both of you. Cornell when you see the numbers up. What is the vital part for campaigns in October as voting's begun interning turning preference in turn out into victory? I think are a couple of things are really important. The numbers that are structurally different from twice I wanted to make that plex a lot of people still nervous about twenty sixteen. Structurally this is different than twice a couple of ways. One is different than to sixteen. In that in all these polls are driven showing by actually has a majority. And that is critical I. don't care if you're five, six, seven points. If you're below majority crazy things can happen. But in most of these bound states and certainly the national polling, he's now at a majority in Washington Post polling which I which I pay attention to hear because they they have the third party candidate in there as well. He's still at a majority you remember. Hillary was always ahead in the forced to way choice coastal majority but with the third party candidates who. Turned up the instrumental she was never had a majority of that. She got in nationally law with what what we saw with third-party Cornell just to pause on that point you raise because this matters you're pointing out that sometimes the question the voters get on the phone is different than what they're going to see. If they turn out, they get presented with two and it can change the actual science of what we're getting when they're gonNA go in the ballot box and see three or more explain to us exactly what's different now or what you think that there's more optimism for Biden compared to that. There was a protest right and we understood that that that that the third party candidates were repealing. A inaudible segment of the electorate who who, who was my time voted for for Bronco Rock Obama and nowhere is that more crystal clear than the State Wisconsin, what you saw those young people third party forty we also understand that the Russians have had a big play in and try and direct some of those specials and African American voters toward party candidate candidate candidates here. But even with their and candidates right now structurally, Biden has a majority of which is which is good and it's a stable majority. Are This is unusual in that you can't go back in the last two or three decades seeing where a Democrat has held a double digit lead nationally embattled most these battleground states for not one month that two months, three months. But basically, since June so structurally, this is very different and within the numbers is very different because when you look at right now you know among College White Women, the Horse Races Twenty seven, sixty, nine ad from the Washington. Post poll so know. So, you're talking about structurally this lead in and his support is very different than what we saw. Hillary Clinton Sixteen in two thousand sixteen quite frankly I'm gonna Bama and teen got but this is structurally even different than what we saw for Brock Obama. In Twenty, eight, twenty, twelve in two. Thousand eight I'M GONNA bring. You Anita? But. You're saying it diplomatically are you saying you think the number support a bigger margin for buying than what Obama One? Is Is blasphemed don't Tell Brak. Obama but I. Joe By going to beat it by. Wow don't you know it doesn't work when you say don't tell someone, but you're on live TV. That's really you are I mean again, I just want to underscore this. Again, we're following the the numbers and I've tried to show viewers we're GONNA continue report for you. Particularly, the votes cast the voter registration were at fifteen million votes. The election has begun, which is different than a hypothetical poll six months ago so we have an Obama pollster. Saying tonight, he is seeing the elements of the larger victory for Biden and Obama that you own that. Not Me that's really interesting coming from you cornell. Elliott. said it you're not telling you. There's no things what they're. Not. GonNa, let you forget this. I don't see it. But what I do see is absolutely the margins nationally the margins in these battleground states are undeniable but also an organizer. So first and foremost I'm always going to default to this is a turnout game. It is all about the people get showing up. I am absolutely looking at that almost fifteen million votes cast number and have optimism optimism about what we can expect to see as we get closer to the election cycle and I'm also a woman optimistic about women boating and turning out their friends and their. Families to make sure that binding gets over the finish line because what what is interesting here is Bala failures that you mentioned about trump and your opening are like boater boater spill that and voters are living that every single day. So on top of all them enthusiasm for a Biden Harris, they're taking their lived experience in an ongoing pen to make that didn't have to be this way in an economic recession that again didn't have to be this way but are here but we're all here because of trump and his administration's ineptitude.

"Margaret and Chad provided a nice life for their three boys. They lived in an expansive home. And had all the trappings of affluence cars. Video Games and horses yes. Margaret was a horse person as everyone knows the garage loves loves horse people centers. She adopted in rehabilitated. A retired racehorse named lady and even after lady died she still went to the stables. Abel's Daily to work with other horses. Margaret worked as a client operations manager at a healthcare company Chatham Motto was a Clinical Aw Pharmacists who worked for CVS and who also had a second job. He was a self professed computer guru. One of his CO worker said. The Chad was very proud of his sons. But there are rumors in this case in some references to it by two people close to the case did Chad data motto. The father was a quite difficult man and most compeer people are a side. Note Jason. The oldest of the three boys was not what Chad's biological son. He adopted him when he married Margaret. This was way back when Jason was just three years old. It doesn't seem that Jason was as close to his brothers as they were to each other. According to Jason. They were known as the football family because they went to every Florida. GATORS home game together. But Jason no longer lived at home and he had moved on with his own life. So the true brother's on the half brothers. Brothers grant. And cody they. They seem to be inseparable. Cody is just one year older than grant and they did everything together. They were on the weightlifting team together at Timber Creek high school and planned on buying matching. BMW's and living in the family home well after their parents retired to their other house which was located in Tennessee. One of their favourite activities involved shooting air soft rifles and real guns as well. and You I can see on grant Amato's facebook profile picture and he is trying to look like a militant bad ass with a big rifle cody grant were on a competitive air. Soft team called remedy. The brothers even went on to enroll in nursing school together. This after grant graduated from the University of Central Florida even early on as seems that cody was somewhat of a caretaker for grant he we had it. Altogether while grant was more scattered in June of two thousand eighteen. Grant was caught stealing medication from his is job at advent health which is located in Orlando Florida. Do we know what kind of medication he stole. I'm going to get into that right now. The hospital staff noticed eight empty vials of propofol and two rooms. Where grant was working he had taken vials they? They were worth together. Combined amount of two thousand sixty seven dollars. These were taken from a storage machine that required a thumbprint to access us. The machine he was captured on surveillance video which was reviewed by the hospital. After the propofol was discovered missing he was seen zien accessing the machine and putting the vials in his pocket. This amounted to grand theft. Hospital officials confronted grant. Who told them them? According to the police report that quote he hit administered the drugs to patients who were not being adequately relaxed by doctor ordered medicine in other words he thought patients needed more drugs than what they were being given so he wasn't stealing drugs for himself to us but to use is on patients. That's his statement. That's his story and he's sticking to it. We don't know for certain administrators believed that this was not the first the incident of this kind. He probably had stolen these items before while being questioned a couple of days after he was caught stealing grant apparently said he was suicidal so the police were called. This was on June. twenty-first grant was arrested but they determined that there was not grounds to hold him under Florida's Baker Act which allows an involuntary hold of people deemed to be dangerous to themselves us and for reasons that have never been disclosed. The grand theft charges for stealing propofol were eventually dropped but needless to say grant was out of job. He was fired and as a consequence of this event he was expelled from anesthesiology school as well and his dad who was funding legal representation for his son. Well he was out of a lot of money. This was money that was set up for grants lawyers. Yeah but let's break this down a little bit because a lot of times if if there is a conflict at work work even if it is stealing they normally won't prosecute as long as they get the material back we got the material back. We didn't lose any money and we're going to then sever ever our ties with this individual by fire them. Yeah I mean He. He's he's fired one hundred percent. I don't know what their reasons were for dropping the charges. If you want me to speculate my guess is they probably didn't want his defense of Oh. I was giving them to your patients right to be in the newspapers whether that's what what he was doing with them or not. We just don't know yeah. Stay away from the bad publicity. So grant is unemployed and living with his parents so what did did grant do all day now that he was unemployed of course he did. What any hard working able bodied twenty something American male would do and and of course? I'm being sarcastic. He spent his days gaming and watching porn. This on a site called Cam. Girls Grant soon soon met a Webcam model named Sylvia from Bulgaria. We all can you spell it website for me. Grant began what he felt what was an intimate relationship with this woman. The virtual kind grant lead Sylvia to believe that he was a successful ambitious. Young Professional Personal Gamer. who had his own apartment and drove a BMW? According to the Orlando Sentinel Grant spent about four hours every night. online watching Sylvia dance and model euphemisms for one on one virtual pornographic activity. And of course this cost money in fact the woman's attentions to grant seemed to depend on how much money he paid. Her grant admitted that her shows cost ninety. That's nine zero tokens per minute to view. which he purchased five thousand tokens at a time? For six hundred dollars he he and Sylvia would video chat as well. Grant seemed to think that the woman was his girlfriend eventually. He began sending her clothes using sex toys which Sylvia would model for him often in pornographic videos. How grant paying for all of this? Well we'll we'll get into that in a minute I hang on. Let me get out my porno calculator. Real quick yeah. So that's five thousand. Four hundred tokens an hour and times that by four hours a day or night. That's twenty one thousand. Six hundred tokens a night on my circulating. Say That's a lot of porno. That's two thousand two thousand five hundred ninety two dollars a day or night. However you WANNA swing that Hammer? It would be cheaper to be addicted to meth but remember kids. Don't do math then. In December of two thousand eighteen. I apologized captain Bob when I was reviewing this information and putting together all the math. I don't know why but it popped in my head out of all the things things you could be addicted to. This is a very expensive addiction. L. I guess we'll know why our our show won't continue The Colonel Got Addicted to Meth. Don't do math then. In December of two thousand eighteen cody grant and their friend Jericho. They went on on a trip to Japan. Cody was very nice. He paid at ten thousand dollars for this trip. So cody is paying for the both of them for him and grant but when the boys returned home this is around December fifteenth grant found that his father was very disgruntled. That grant still had. It not landed a job by this point. It's not clear exactly win. The Amato's found out that their son was involved in a virtual relationship with a Webcam girl. Some news reports state that Margaret noticed male showing up for grant from Bulgaria. Yeah and then was horrified lied that her son had given their home address to a t to somebody in the porn business. Let's say right we. We can only imagine what that conversation was like unfortunately for grant though it seems that his parents also discovered something else at some point toward toward the end of two thousand eighteen chat amato discovered that some money was missing and actually this was a lot of money. Grant was stealing stealing money from his own family. Grant told his parents that he spent this money to promote himself on twitch. I'm captain sure or you could inform us. What twitches all because I'm such a loser that I have all this time to do well? I don't know exactly what it is so I thought maybe you might law blah. I don't know much about. I've never been on it. I think people can be very profitable on it. There's many millionaires from an end. I guess what it is is is that you. You're a Gamer. And then people can watch you game al Qaeda they could pay for a subscription so so there are there are people are doing very well. It's it's but it's kind of a the video game world to me. I haven't been into it since Super Super Mario Brothers so I don't really know much about it but it's it's huge. I mean you can So when he saying I'm promoted myself or I'm this could turn into a profession not as a profession but if if it takes off he could become like a multimillionaire like basically like becoming a youtube star or something right I was is gonna save for Dummies like me. The simplest form. It's kind of a social media. Instagram meets Youtube kind of thing. Yeah Four Gaming Guy Merrily yeah so the truth be told though that's not where the money went. He actually blew it all on his very expensive hobby. Or what I would call obsession with Sylvia. Yeah but even if it went to promote himself on this platform it's a it's a big risk because to to become a youtube star or become twitch star. It's very difficult so now thus begins the family meltdown. Okay on December nineteenth two thousand eighteen. The models called nine one one. This was to report grant was missing. He walked out of the House after an argument with Chad and his mother was concerned because he seemed very depressed at this time and she says possibly suicidal in fact Margaret told the the sheriff's office. She told the deputies that she got a text from grant saying he was quote really tired of everything and quote and was quote just just going to handle it his own way. That's as much of the text that I have. But regardless believing that he had been unsuccessful looking looking for work and had shown some instability in connection with the propofol incident right. And he's at school now. He's spending his days. He's like you said playing video games and watching pornography and if the family just knows that he's just up in his room playing video games all day maybe not knowing too much about the pornography but when somebody says I'm tired of it all and that's all they're doing I think that's a bad sign. Well you know she has. His mother has other tax and other information other conversations that were had right that we're not privy to so calling. The police seems like a very smart motherly. Move here in this this spot and December of two thousand eighteen. Cody confided in his girlfriend. Sloan that he was concerned concerned about his brother. He was concerned that grant was going to kill. Everyone is what he said when grant left the home that day. He took refuge at the home of his aunt. This is Donna. Amato with whom. He was very close. She later said that he was looking lost and depressed at her house. Grant slept during the day and stayed up all night. She and her husband hid all of their guns and while grant was with them having been worn by the Amato's that he was possibly suicidal while grant was staying with her Donnas Bank account was hacked and strange charges started showing up. At least that's what she thought. She came to find out that the nephew you she had taken in stole her credit card information and she wasn't the only one according to the Orlando Sentinel pictures of credit it. Cards belonging to grant Amato's grandmother uncle and one of his cousins were found on his computer upset and betrayed Donna on a called her husband's brother grandfather. Chad D'Amato totally out of character. Chad broke down on the phone. He told Donna the he had been forced to remortgage mortgage the family's home to cover one hundred and fifty thousand dollars worth of debt racked up by grant. Donna says quote. He told me on the phone. Yeah I'm going to have to work a few more years than I thought I'd have to but it's okay I'll do it for grant it. I don't want him to go to jail.

How Young Is Too Young to Face Arrest?
"Criminals come in in all shapes and sizes though it may strain definition that we can count a six-year-old throwing a temper tantrum in an elementary school among them yet welcome to America in late. September two thousand nineteen a Florida cop arrested to grade schoolers slapped a pair of handcuffs on at least one of them and sent them off to be booked fingerprinted and have their mugshots taken taken both children again six year olds who misbehaved at school were charged with misdemeanor battery a bad day for Harried police officer well yeah maybe a bad day for schools and the juvenile justice system absolutely we spoke with Marsha Levick the chief legal officer for the Juvenile Law all center which bills itself as the country's first nonprofit public interest law firm for children she said does it get more ridiculous. It's absurd. It's it's a ridiculous abusive law enforcement power authority but it's also really unnecessary but all too common abdication on the part of schools and school districts teachers just defer their management of school misconduct to police the pure legality of charging a juvenile as young as six with crime varies across the United States to be clear a juvenile in forty five states plus the district of Columbia is anyone younger than seventeen in Georgia Michigan Missouri Texas and Wisconsin. It's anyone anyone younger than sixteen juvenile offender normally doesn't move through the criminal courts but through the juvenile justice system which has guided according to the office of Juvenile Justice some delinquency prevention quote by the concept of rehabilitation through individualized justice for more serious offenses though juveniles may be tried in criminal court wear if found guilty the court focuses on punishment not rehab of fifty one jurisdictions. That's the fifty states plus the District of Columbia thirty. The three have no lower level limit on holding a young person criminally accountable that excess that includes Florida in effect that means that an overzealous cop legally Wrigley can arrest even an unruly two year old of those eighteen other jurisdictions most put the lower level that a kid can be charged with a crime at ten years years old in those locations six-year-old like the two in Florida simply could not be arrested or charged with a crime levick said obviously it begs eggs the question how can that be. How can we possibly have created juvenile court system that allows for the possibility that six and seven year olds can be arrested. I think they never envisioned and six or seven year old would be hauled into court. I think that's a fair assumption. That's not who designed the system for so what happened in Florida a police Lisa Officer with Orlando's reserve unit arrested the two six year olds on separate misdemeanor battery charges on September nineteenth of two thousand nineteen one was a girl who lashed out in a Tantrum Trim that was brought on by a sleep disorder. The girl's family told The New York Times on Monday September twenty third the Orlando Police Department fired the officer who made the arrests for not following in protocol that required he'd get approval from his supervisor to arrest any minor younger than age twelve. No charges were filed against the two children. Cops in schools rules of course are not new. Florida is one of many states that has bumped up. Its police presence in schools over the years. The Florida legislature mandated it after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman when Douglas high school in Parkland claimed seventeen lives in February of two thousand eighteen the buildup of police in schools understandable in some ways. It's been more in twenty years since two students killed thirteen people and injured twenty one others at Columbine High School in Littleton Colorado since columbine up until April of this year America it has been through two hundred and thirty eight other school shootings according to a year long investigation by the Washington Post this increased show of force though does come with problems plums for one as the Orlando Sentinel points out citing report by the Education Week Resource Center black students are arrested at school at disproportionately high hi rate at least one of the children arrested in Orlando was black and as the recent news out of Orlando Shows Police School kids even elementary school kids just sometimes sometimes don't mix levick said we know where this is coming from. This fear of what happens when a child acts out in school. There's going to be some catastrophic consequence I am I need from Columbine for twenty years. We've been overreacting. I'm not aiming to trivialize schools being so quick. Call Law enforcement there obviously many situations nations in which that's appropriate but this is one that defies common sense most would agree that slapping cuffs on first graders probably is crossing the line zero-tolerance. Your tolerance certainly has its costs eleven said initially the thought was that there would be some rationality some reasonableness injected into the school environment would curb those extreme and absurd responses but it may be that trusting in waiting for commonsense to kick in isn't going to work it may be that it does require a legislative response. It's some movements across the nation aim to raise the minimum age that a child can be charged with a crime to twelve years old in some of those thirty three jurisdictions actions where no minimum ages set their calls to set something until then though school police officers may have to lean on something much less complicated than legislative action should when faced with a prepubescent troublemaker a deep breath. Maybe a countdown from ten and a little common sense.

"Say are Orlando Sentinel, endorsement for president and twenty twenty not Donald Trump. Which causes me to ask the first question. Who has them who cares? Apparently the Orlando Sentinel, Jose left wing newspaper, and they want to influence the outcome of the election already. Does anybody think the vast majority of newspapers in this country will support Donald Trump or anybody else? Course anybody else. Donald Trump is on our Landau to announce the kickoff of his reelection campaign. They write it just a handful of people on the ratatouille aboard. That's all we're here to announce endorsement for president twenty twenty or at least who were not endorsing Donald Trump. Gee. We were expecting you to endorse him the Orlando Sentinel, and you really ought to change your name. What is the word sentinel have to do with you guys? Some readers will wonder how we could possibly limit a candidate so far before an election before knowing the identity of his opponent, because there's no point pretending we would ever recommend that readers vote for Trump. Why don't you just keep your mouth shut and do whatever you want? And try not to influence your readers. Because the media today can't. After two and a half years we've seen enough. Enough of the chaos, the division, the schoolyard insults. The SAFA grand is that corruption, especially the life. I think the same speech writer who writes for Bernie Sanders. Right. Ted a Taurus for the Landau sentinel. So many lives from white lies to walkers told out of ignorance, laziness, recklessness expediency opportunity, Trump's capacity for lying at the surprise here, though, the frequency is. It's the tolerance. So many Americans have for it now, the newspaper will put you down. There was a time when even a single iphone college degree a bogus work history would Duma politicians career. You know, it's amazing, the writing like this about Trump when, in fact, it's Joe Biden, who is the serial liar and the plagiarised a complete fraud. Isn't it? Not so for Trump who claimed 2017 that he lost the popular vote because millions of people voted illegally. They say they didn't in two thousand eighteen you said North Korea was no longer a nuclear threat. It is twenty nineteen. He said, windmills caused cancer. They don't just last week. He claimed the media fabricated, unfavorable results from his campaign internal polling. It didn't. Trump also said that, if you wanted to keep your doctor, you would. Oh, that was Obama. Trump also said that you would see your deductibles go down. Oh, that was Obama. Trump also said that you would see your, your policies go down by two thousand five hundred dollars. Oh, I believe that was Obama. Obama. According to a Washington Post database, the president has tallied more than ten thousand lives since he took office, not only is that a lights an impossibility. So here you have the Orlando Sentinel, editorial page lying to their readers. Trump successful assault on truth is the great casualty of this presidency. Followed closely by his war on decency was wore on decency. I'm sure this newspaper was very upset with Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson and their indecency in the Oval Office. Orlando Sentinel endorses "not Donald Trump" before reelection launch
"So the Orlando Sentinel says. Our or Landau sentinel, endorsement for presidents twenty nuts Donald Trump. That's the headline Donald Trump is in Orlando to announce the kickoff of his reelection campaign. We're here to announce our endorsement for presidents twenty or at least who we're not endorsing Donald Trump. Some readers will wonder how we could possibly eliminate a candidate so far before an election. And before knowing the identity of his opponent. Because there's no point pretending we would ever recommend that readers vote for Trump. Well, listen Orlando Sentinel. Let me remind you. Your readers already know. Where your editorial policy is your Landau central sentinel as an editorial vehicle is left of center. So this is not a great shock. And frankly, it's not really huge news. But I thought it was thought it was interesting enough. They go onto right after two and a half years we've seen enough. Okay. Quote enough of the chaos, the division, the schoolyard, insults, the self-aggrandizement the corruption and especially the lies. Wow. So, you know, it's funny as I'm reading the Orlando Sentinel editorial, where the say they will not endorse Donald Trump for reelection because quote, they have seen enough of the chaos, the division schoolyard insults. The self-aggrandizement the corruption and especially the lies, I thought for a second. They were talking about Barack Obama. Because the Obama administration with the help of Joe Biden divided this country in a way that we haven't seen in an awfully long time. You wanna talk about chaos. There was continual chaos within the Obama administration. There was division in this nation like we have never seen in recent history. President Obama staking out a point of of territory, here railing against police officers as an example. Continually work into undermine the one reliable ally. We have in the Middle East. Schoolyard insults. My god. Obama and Biden working tenuously insulting people. Bitter, people were just clinging to their guns in God. Remember that?

I mean, he's he's having fun with it, which is unusual because the the last couple of Georgia coaches have really not had the last couple of Florida coaches, I've really not had much with anything. No, they, you know, must champ was 'traite serious than mcelwain. I mean, it's really wasn't engaging at all. So yeah, I mean and fans in like that about not going at all. So he he didn't make many, you know, friends away he is treated fans in the media in general and at the gator gatherings and all that Dan springs, energy and enthusiasm and some a little bit, you know, swagger for short. He's not even era. Then I mean, he's got a lot of the Spurrier, you know, trash talk to him. He, you know, the the spring game attendance saying I don't know how much he was really behind that. Because we did talk them off in the side. And he acted kind of like didn't even really know what was going on there that was a little bizarre. But I don't know what he's behind his fourteen thousand day thing either. But the fact is it's happening on his watch. And I'm sure he's having fun with it. He he really believes in what he can do. And that's you know, that's powerful. And we have that kind of confidence in your ability. And clearly he's. Excellent play caller. And that goes without saying when we saw last year and he can develop quarterbacks, and that's something to Gators him heading ages here since he was here. Really? Yeah. You're you're with us from the Orlando Sentinel talking about the Gators in and listen, he he told me when I saw two weeks ago Edgar that he he was completely in the dark about the numbers and all the little shots. But but I heard stuff and you've heard stuff he's and I think he'll be on the circuit soon talk and plenty of trash because he knows it plays. Well, and it does play well in intil doesn't and you know, where I'm going here at some point. You do have to be Georgia and the last two years have been less than spectacular. I realized he was only there for one of them. And it wasn't a blowout. It was a close game until a certain point. But as someone who understands the gator roster where are they right now in comparison to Georgia, which is a top four team. Well, yeah. Oh, yes. Yes. Look at their cruising. Paul. I mean, the last two years Georgia signed twelve five star recruits, according to twenty four seven sports the Gators don't even have one on the entire roster, which is unbelievable to thank the Gators. Have find like not twelve they haven't found four five stars urban Meyer left. They're still seven total under must chance, and I think it was five and then two hundred mcelwain. So and Mullen and get one last year last two years. So that's just the disparity on that five stars. And all that it doesn't always matter. Player development is a big part of it. And Dan is shown clearly can do that with what he did at Mississippi State, and they had three first round picks and only one of those guys vilely touted Semons the other two weren't what and Abram. But anyway, the point is I mean, Dan knows how to get the most out of his players at least it looked like it lasts fees..

This is marketplace tech demystifying the digital economy. I'm Molly would. People who try to build a career as creators on YouTube may put all their creativity and time an identity into the platform while on the other end of the screen an algorithm can take away their ability to make money by what's called demonetizing videos or just giving the videos a lower priority in its recommendation engine one year ago today, a YouTube creator shot three people at that company. San Bruno headquarters before killing herself a police investigation concluded that when YouTube demonetized her channel it took away. Quote, a critical part of who she was Catherine low is a visiting researcher at the informatics department at university of California Irvine. She said the relationship can feel very one sided it can be difficult to gauge how urgent this feels in part because people kind of just accept the conditions of their engagement with a platform, and you often see outraged manifest when there's a big event that happens say, there's a takedown of a video or. Suddenly somebody's seeing very few views relative to what they had before. And what's also difficult to see is are people using their interaction with the algorithm as a scapegoat. Or is it because you know, they they were kind of wrong by the algorithm. And, you know, people people do notice at one point or another that he'd yeah, they don't have a lot of control over the system. And I think it does become increasingly urgent the more that creators across platforms talk to each other. Is there a sense that it could impact business like we'll would creators leave? Is there an argument that would say you have to create a sense of agency with your creator? So they don't stop uploading to YouTube. I think YouTube is not overly worried at this point about creators leaving. And I think this is a problem when you have effective monopolies over certain types of content, but you do see Facebook. And and also streaming is getting bigger as a form of media creation that there. Our competitors on the scene innocence. So that might happen. But for uploading video YouTube has such a significant monopoly that it's it's hard to see how threatened they could be is there like a big lesson. Would you say is there an overarching take away from the last year and kind of how we've seen this relationship? Evolve. I think that creators the same way you see with gig economy workers, I think a lot of them are starting to think about unions. Tell me more about that. Are you seeing that happen is that that that a structured movement in the YouTube space? I think it is really difficult to collect people in a sense because you to does have a very wide range of creators, you you have people who have five thousand subscribers and you have people who five hundred thousand and five million, and they all have very different interests. But I've seen various groups come together some of them working with governmental bodies. And we'll see Catherine low is a visiting researcher at the informatics department at the university of California Irvine, we asked YouTube for comment, the company said that on the one year anniversary of last year shooting it's focused on the wellbeing of its employees. And now for some related links a little more on this ongoing tension between YouTube the algorithm and its creators one complaint from creators is that the outcome seems to reward and promote sensational or risque content, which can then backfire and get a channel band. We did some reporting last week about how platforms often recommend increasingly extreme content and activists say it can actually radicalize people online. So YouTube is also trying to contend with how to minimize that extreme content, and fact advertisers have boycotted the service over their ads showing up on hateful, racist or sexist videos. In fact, these are the issues that spurred YouTube to make major changes last year to how creators could monetize their videos, basically made the bar a lot higher in July of two thousand eighteen accompany sued YouTube, parent, Google, saying the algorithm changes had made it lose ninety percent of its revenue, but a judge throughout the case agreeing with Google that post. On YouTube is both free and optional and that YouTube has no obligation to place ads on videos. There's a good story on all this in the Orlando Sentinel this week it's a profile of creators who live this, quote, unstable life at the control of YouTube and about how the pursuit of fame online can lead to a tricky balance and promises broken for all involved. I'm Ali would. And that's marketplace tech. This is a PM. "Matt Michelle from the Orlando Sentinel sentinel college football writer, find him on Twitter at OSU, Michelle. Matt thanks for joining us tonight. No problems extra have me on. All right. Matt first off UCF looking to cap off this season. They're taking on a tough LSU team. If they do it do they fix the do they fix the press box at the stadium and like put like back to back national champs. How does this work? You know, I don't think that Danny white will actually, you know, the UCF here. Declares of national champs last year. I'm not sure if they'll do that again this year, I think I was kind of a special type of thing. I think you could get to the point where you start declare national champions every year. I think there's a little bit of the luster. I think he will do something special. You mentioned that a couple of times, obviously, if they went I think he feels like, you know, another undefeated season just kind of validates what they've been able to do as a program, and I think it also kind of validates his push for, you know, try to make a change to the college football playoff. So I definitely believe if they had he's going to do something special. And I think he's gonna probably find a way that maybe it might tweak a little bit at the at the college football playoff selection committee. How strongly have they talked about changing conferences at UCF? You know, I I think right now, they're at this point, you least publicly they're they're happening up being in the American conference. I think obviously it's a big twelve situation had happened a couple of years ago where they were talking about expansion if they hit the next bit. I think they would have loved to go there. They would love to get into a power five schools and kind of prove their their case. I mean, obviously, there's a lot of benefits from it. You know, just financially alone groups for them, probably, you know, nearly a triple quadruple what they're making right now currently in the American, but right now, that's not the case. So they're kind of Bill they're doing what they have to do into the parameters that they have. And I think they've been able to do that. Really? Well, I think if they continue to stretch maybe take it into next year as well. I think that makes them look more attractive in case someone you don't use the landscape does change, and there is going to be sort of expansion. Whether it's the big twelve or somewhere else because obviously you're getting great players. You're able to finish off the seasons. If you beat LSU you beat an SEC team for crying out loud. I could certainly give punchers chance even without the quarterback. So if you do all that it starts to make me think. Okay. And I brought this. I actually have brought this up with Reshad Perryman. Can you believe this? I said could you believe that this could be could this be like a Miami in the eighties situation where you really build from the ground up starts a ground swell in that state that has such great athletic talent in those kids know out of play the game. Do you think you could do something like this? He's smart. He was excited about the possibility. But he doesn't see the landscape like you do do they have the resources for that. Would they have the resources for that? Is that possible? Yeah. You know? I think they've they've done a really good job. One of the things that that Danny white is a really good job of is. It's really fundraising in fact, last three or four years. Each year, they'd had a record setting fundraising campaign, and that return has kind of paid off in the fact that they're upgrading facilities. They're currently in the process of building a new football facility. They're upgrading stadiums recovery. Cove a lazy river, they call it here. Attractive to two young recruits. You know, the the past coaching staff Scott frost, did a really good job recruiting, you know, Orlando in the state of Florida Josh hype on his staff did a good job of that doing it as well, if they can continue to recruit the state of four get the kids that maybe would have, you know, kind of decide at the last minute decided to go to Florida state. I think there's a possibility they can find a way to continue this stretch there on I think the challenge is going to be they're going to have to start scheduling tougher opponents. They're gonna have to start scheduling more power five schools, and I'm just not sure power five schools. Now, looking at what you have been able to do it the last couple of years are willing to take that chance. They realized it could actually backfire schedule you Matt Michelle joining us. Let's stay in the state of Florida. Did you hear about Mark richt, and then many DS? Yeah. Unbelievable. When you think about it? I mean, obviously, you know, Rick leaving around asking retirement, you know, within a couple of hours. Oh, maybe you already accepted a job at temple now changes his mind and decided to stay at Miami and become the head coach. It's a bizarre story. And it really kind of shows you kind of all the all the goodwill that Miami hit goes up over the last year. So now, you think kind of goes out the window even with being hired. I think it's just going to be tough for them kind of justify no all the turnover going on at that school. And I feel sorry for temple which basically had a head coach went out and recruited. You know, start building a staff or create some kids. Now, they've got to turn around and sign. Member joining us on the show. Okay. What did you think Notre Dame last night and that Clemson game? And then we'll obviously get to the other one. But go ahead on that one. I think the concern I had for Notre Dame going into that game. Was you know, they could become one dimensional. They became one dimensional. There was no shot at them clubs. And that's what happened, you know club since frontline was too dominant. They're able to get pressure on books shut down the wedding game. And once they jumped out to a big lead. I just felt like Notre Dame really could verify the grab the ground and their footing. They really were able to take advantage of that. So it's disappointing for day. I'm sure obviously the last time they were in a big situation with two thousand twelve when they took out Alabama, and they got blown out in that game as well. So I think it's a it's definitely something Ryan Kelly's got to think about as they move forward. Because you know, they just got to the playoffs for the first time. They wanted to make way to continue doing that. Member show with us on the show. I keep getting all these history lessons about Notre Dame. And basically sucking up the room in the postseason whether it be in big bowl games, or whether it be in the college football playoff now. And all these folks keep saying, well, they got to join a conference, and I'm going I don't think anybody's gonna learn a lesson if they're twelve next year the I think they'll still be in next year. And if they expend eighteen year after that will then hell they'll they'll be allowed to have one loss, and they'll still get in. I don't think any of this map. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't think any of this really transfers over because I'm still here in Ohio, and I can't make an argument against Ohio State next year because well, they lost thirty one to Clemson a few years ago. Yeah. You know? I I don't think Notre Dame's gonna put I don't think it no matter what happened this weekend. Or I don't think that's going to push Notre Dame into a conference. I mean, listen they've they've been stood steadfast. The fact they don't want to be the conference that you'll good job scheduling power five. Opponents the schedules usually one of the toughest in the country. You look at what they've been able to do. I mean. Yes, it's disappointing to lose to Clemson. But again, if they go twelve and I'm like, you said there's no way they're not gonna make the top four again. So I think this was a learning lesson for for Brian Kelly. And and and the team I think they're going gonna continue to go out and recruit as hard as they can. I think if they continue to do that they'll be right there. But I mean, again, you know, I know every couple of years that, you know, they talk about joining a conference, but I just don't think that's going to happen at least not in the foreseeable future. Maybe sometime after the playoffs deal is done. Maybe. But I I I don't ever. Are. You supposed to do that Kim Clemson hang with Obama stuff next week? I think they can if they if they play like they did against Notre Dame. If they use their the frontline if they put pressure onto the lowest if they can kind of shut down the running game like they did with Notre Dame. You know, offensively of Trevor king find the holes that that calamari wasn't able to take advantage of. I think they might be able to again, I think when you look at how bama's played this year, though, they played so well that played at such an elite level authencity. They look great to talk of a lowest said he wasn't even a hundred percent. That's one hundred percent. I I mean, it's baffling to me how well he played. And and they just look good at every spot especially the skill position. So I think this looks to me like it's another shot for Alabama to get Matt Michelle joining us on the show at LSU Michelle on Twitter, you get a little bit bored by these matchups or do you still like him? No, I still like him. I know people have talked about that the last couple of days, you know, that, you know, this is is they're getting tired of seeing the Alabama. I mean, listen these top teams right now, I think everything is in college football, especially it's cyclical, and I think of actually you're seeing these other programs slowly work their way into that same sort of status here, you look at what Oklahoma's doing I think they're just around the corner there you look at what Georgia's doing you look at what Notre Dame. Did you look at some of these other programs? Michigan Ohio state. They're just right there. I think at this moment right now, Alabama and some of the best football the last three or four years that could change eventually schools are spending more buddy, they're out recruiting better players. I think we could see you ever teams internet again if they choose to expand the playoffs and things that get definitely opened the door with it more for some change, especially in the national championship game. Do you pick Alabama to win the national championship this year? Yeah. I do. I think they're they're playing some of the best football right now. I think clemson's got, you know, strong that's probably much better, obviously than what you saw out of Oklahoma. But I think that you know, this is Nick Sabin. And this is the guy finds a way to win games. And you know, obviously, Alabama place not nearly as perfect of a game gets Oklahoma. And you know, and I think save is going to try to fix those kind of problems going into the next game. I give them a better shot at winning this game. I think right now we're seeing as close to a dynasty as you can when it comes to a sport like college football. So if they win that's seven national championships overall for Nick Sabin. He's sixty seven years old. Would he think would you think about stepping up to the NFL if say Aaron Rodgers or Baker Mayfield or Sam darnold was your quarterback? You know, I think you'd have to be an elite job. I mean, maybe, you know, and again, it would have to be depend on whether or not he got a lot of you know, console a lot of power there. You know, maybe. You can you know, hire and fire. You know, who you bring in and sign players. He kinda get that a little bit with Miami. It didn't work out nearly as well. I think if there was a challenge and he wants to do that. I think you might wanna do you make that move? But right now, I mean, I kind of like, why would you, you know, Alabama. I mean, you've set everything up so nicely right now, you could probably win the next two or three national titles. If you really wanted to it's just whether or not he feels like this. This challenge has gotten old and he wants to kind of try his hand at something new. Let me throw another one in there with my bias to see if I could swing you hear a little bit. Would seven national championships and one championship? But with the Browns would that put him past Bill Belichick. You know man in this lifetime. Yeah. I think you could I mean based on what he's going to. I mean think about this. Do you know NFL coaches, you know, you you.

I turn you on in about ten minutes later on my I just like give the dog enough time to go steal your. Yeah. And yeah, I I need Caesar to come over here and tell Frankie to quit eating my food when I'm on the air. In on cabinet. I think they're now they won't admit it. But I don't think he's going to go crazy lighter expecting on rulings. If you look at always rulings he's made through the years. I don't see him going off to charts and just going way overboard, and and you know. Losing his mind and retribution to the Democrats when something comes up in front of the court that oh. I don't know. I I think this is how I think you could see a little bit of a change in him mostly because a lot of the lower courts, they're interpreting if the ruling was correct because you know, you go up and up and up the chain in the supreme court ruling, if it's constitutional thou he's going to be looking at it completely different light. So for me with a cabinet. I think he could take a lot of these different cases in he will be a different ruling in the supreme court as opposed to a district court. Well it. Yeah. Because if days made their own rules and laws, and it doesn't adhere to the constitution. That's what the man's based on the home his entire life. So what I'm saying is he's gonna take personal retribution out. He's gonna go by what the constitution says. And and then one more thing, I know you probably use that poor little red light green light when you mama wonderful around their poor little guy has a stain his room donating. No, I'll tell you. That keeps them there's a specific purpose. We'll take any rest we can get with that. Come on. I have the ten. Yeah. Now that little red light green light thing. I'm telling you. It is awesome. Super awesome. Let's see what else we got here. I'm of this. Here's a story from the Orlando Sentinel. Mark Rubin is his name apparently was picking out a spot to propose to his future. Wife in front of the Cinderella castle in the magic kingdom over in Disney. When a lousy. Ernie underhanded, Disney employees insisted he moved because he was proposing in the middle of the parade route. And he got all upset so he's suing Disney. This is so stupid. So Ruben apparently said his most important moment in his entire life thwarted because they insisted he move out of the way of this parade route happened back in two thousand fifteen the lawsuit seeks fifteen thousand dollars in damages. Disney cast member had a different account of what happened because he's playing himself to be this victim of the employees. Just doing the worst thing possible making him in making it so he can't propose the twenty four year old told the thirties that when she asked Rubin to move three feet back out of the parade route Ruben screamed interfacing grabbed her Ruben is a visitor from New York. Okay. You know, the the whole New York type of mentality. Pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and was fined one hundred dollars plus court costs. He's fifty seven years old didn't comment on this. He said he was falsely accused of battery Ruben is suing for negligence, arguing that Disney falsely accused him of grabbing the employees shirt in allegedly among other things that Disney did not release a copy of the surveillance photo as proof that did not touch the employee. He's also suing for false arrest or imprisonment. Got a surprise this..

Of course we start crying and they say here that he was indicted last week on federal murder-for-hire charges and say, woman named Carol Baskin of big cat rescue. I'm looking at this on the Orlando Sentinel. Carol Baskin of big cat. Rescue says, she's clashed in the past with Joseph Maldonado passage who goes by the name of, I'm sorry, I had his name wrong, not exotic Joe, but Joe exotic. And. Right? Get it right, man. I'm sorry. Excuse me. Mr. exotic I didn't mean to Janine role, but they said here that he's been threatening me for many years as what baskins said. That's what she told to the oak law Hohmann after Maldonado passages arrest last week, prosecutors allege that Maldonado passage tried to hire two separate people to kill an unnamed woman who fortunately will not harm one of the unidentified people. He sought to hire connected him with an undercover FBI agent who met with Maldonado passage in December twenty seventeen. The indictment was unsealed Friday and Modena passage remains jailed in Florida. Of course he didn't reply to an Email so you can come in in court records, don't list in attorney for him. Now. You know, look, I'm not. I'm not pure. I heard the name Joe exotic before I started reading the article us not just probably guy solid. Some porn flicks at some point in my life. I didn't, but it. But I say it. It just sounds like I know this guy was some reason, but why would I know anybody named Joe exotic. I was saving myself. No person called John magnum. Exotic, that is true. I do know a mill porn star, gay male porn star named John magnum. So maybe that was thinking of that at the time to, but baby. I don't know if you remember you showed this to me. At one time before Joe exotic was making murder plots and trying to secretly kill people. All right. He was actually running for president baby. Do you remember this crime jail, Yana can convey this not going out to any kind of a presidential candidate or any politician in the purpose of this video today? He should let you know who I am. First thing is I am not cutting my. I'm not changing the way I dress piece to wear a suit. I am gay. I've had two boyfriends most of my life currently got legally married, thank God h foundling legal in America. I've had some KiKi six. I have tried drugs through the younger years of my life. I shit. I have a judgment against me from some bitch down there in Florida, but I can tell you pay the fine with the US, Jay, and that is nothing, but a civil fund, ladies and gentlemen, and just. Not mean that I was a king's. You're convicted of any kind of animal cruelty. No, y'all lesson, but let me ask you something many political campaigns. Have you ever seen with live lions in them? On the background who who is running for president that got a lion as a as a vice-president running mate. Dude is the very definition of keeping it real. Keep it real. On and nobody says on is this guy. He's like, I'm gay. I have boyfriends. Good everything. Put it all out there. He put in walk the walk with a pimp. Yeah, yeah. I mean, this is this is bad ass right here, man. I, you know, I mean, laugh if you will, but as you said, I mean, besides the the murder thing actually sounds really cool..

"Orlando sentinel who represents the ink and paper as going forward in going after that young demographic how hard is it these days to find something that you know that that is going to go after yeah it's not only that it's finding that demographic that's interested but also any topic that is going to continue to grow and as an ad or a trend that's going to fade so yeah newspapers you think of an older crowd but it's very much digital at the sentinel and most major us country so we were digital i in in what i did in my coverage posting things online shooting mobile video getting things up immediately and then they would take whatever that was ever they needed for the paper and put it in put it in the paper so that that's what we're doing there so i just think that the community orlando is really diverse in in that demographic in general and it really latched onto orlando city and we felt that we helped cover that and it's continued to grow from there and we really wanted to show that in other markets if you have writers there who are with the team no the team who see and feel and participate in the community they can provide a coverage that not only a soccer audience but a general audience would would like read about as well and that's what we really want to do because we feel that a lot of coverage nationally lacks that intimacy feel sometimes game recaps are in by people who aren't there at the games things like that so the first year you know it's limited coverage we have freelancers in every market but we're continuing to continue to evolve and grow that as years go on no you guys are doing fantastic work and again we're talking to at least fidel guy all right now again the editor and co founder appro soccer usa dot com militia just give us a little bit of your background you obviously decided to dive into the the crazy world of broadcast journalism and journalism and covering sports it's it's obviously a different world you will know but what was the what made you decide to go after that this avenue yes so i mean i was athlete growing up in general not really a soccer player funny enough like i did when i was a kid but played all through high school multiple sports went to school originally.

"Orlando sentinel florida state quarterback andre francois spent the last two months under surveillance by the tallahassee police department because someone convinced them he was selling weed oh boy because what everybody's gonna go back to the team it's winston thing and everybody's going to go back to all its jameis winston two point oh listen to this so after the tipster went to the tallahassee police department with their theory back in february there was a two month investigation by the tpp that they went through francois's garbage and they went through some stuff to see if he was selling we well apparently after they felt like they got enough of enough evidence to get a subpoena and go break in and searches apartment they found seventeen grams just over half an ounce and for those that don't know in states where lee weed is legal it's it's pretty normal for somebody to carry a full ounce per person that's the you know so it was less than that so they've got a little back back explaining to do i think the tipster set him up apparently the tallahassee police department was by some tipster somebody guaranteed it was a gator fan i was probably hurricane fan trying to get the andrea francois kicked off the team belt head coach willie taggart says he's still on the team but you know what it's not surprising that he's using smoking we because he's got that tendon tear could remember that he suffered the play in the alabama game took him down so hopefully he's recovering back in and i don't want to give to dictate or anything because you wanna stay off the weed i am with stephen smith on this stay off the we'd do not get addicted but apparently for people that are a massive pain it's an acceptable l a lot of people that get on that you know say it helps so i i'm not going to get into the we debate in my side of it you know what if it's very very small control amounts and it helps it you're okay but the sentinel article says after the cops figured out they had wasted their time they went.
