"So talk to me you're you are from Turkey that you were telling me I'm from Turkey originally. How did you end up here? Well Right after college finishing undergraduate undergrad in Turkey in electronics engineering. Okay, I talked to my father You know father I said, you know, I just want to go to America United States. He said to me Okay, but why United States you want to learn English? Yes, I want to learn English, but there's England here, huh? Right here three hours away. Why do you want to go all the way to 12 hours with plane? I said, I love the American culture I left the American, you know American dream the the colleges their lifestyle and this was all in the this was in the 1996 okay when I graduated from my from college and I graduate college a little bit earlier I was nineteen nineteen and a half years. Wow. Yes, man. Thank you. I Started going to school like five and a half years old because they had that like a program there different programs at that time They allowed kids to to be the first graders. Yeah to accelerate. Yeah, I took advantage of that and Thank God I passed all the grades, you know, I never missed anything. So as a matter of fact, I'm a third year of college I told my dad this, you know, hey, I want to go to the United States, please, you know, would you will you support me? He's so what you told me Whatever you do son. I'm gonna support you. Mm -hmm. So right after college I started applying to college. I mean the you know, yeah colleges for MBA program Okay, because I said I want to do MBA. I want to do master's in business administration If you ask me why because it was the hit thing in Turkey at that time if you have your Engineering background. I mean undergrad and then you have the MBA all the companies all the corporate guys, you know They want you and especially from the United States, you know the MBA so I had two friends in Orlando Back then and I applied other states as well And one of the guys in Orlando called me, you know, he said look Nasir I know you're applying to other states. We have the house here. We have you know, the dorms everything Yeah, the dorms and everything and and we know people in the college will help you out and we love you come over We'll hang out, you know first I was hesitant I said, you know, I'm gonna go there instead of learning English right away And now we're gonna be hanging out Turkish people, you know, so I had that doubt Yeah, from my town, yes, we know their families my dad knows their dads and but my father told me look It's better to know someone there when you start off and then you don't like it you move somewhere else It's easy, you know easier. It breaks the ice. It breaks the ice So I said, okay, so they send me the application from it's called seminal community college. Okay, it's where the Seminoles India All speakers English all like, you know, and you didn't know any English at this point very very little you speak it Very well. Yeah, I practiced there so much, you know, they applied to college community college. I said, oh, it's a community college It's not a it's not a university and my friends told me look, you know, it's this little college close by to our house It doesn't matter if you call you you're just gonna learn English and here there's no Turkish people only there were some Latins like Puerto Ricans. Yeah, a lot of Puerto Ricans. You're in Orlando. Yeah, that's the Puerto Rican capital. Puerto Rican capital. Yes Back then it was like this 1996 1997. So I loved the idea. I said, okay, no problem So we I applied and they said, okay, no problem. You can start the English as a second language program. I started going there Yes, I was the only Turkish guy. So I had no option but to learn the language So I loved it. So I said, you know what? I'm just gonna stay here I'm not gonna move anywhere else and I started getting to know people Okay I had I met a lot of people there and we started hanging out even though our English all of our our English were a Little bit, you know, like it's off. Yeah, but still with hand gestures with moves and stuff like that You you manage you manage to engage So I finished English as a second language course, then I applied to UCF University of Santa, Florida Okay for the MBA program they accepted me, but they said I need to take a lot of prerequisite courses and I said, okay, and they gave me a list. It was like 12 courses I said, wow, it's too much and I gave you my transcripts guys, you know, I'm an I'm an engineer I mean, but they said hey, you didn't take financial accounting. You didn't take managerial accounting They saw me like economics macro economics micro economics all these courses, you know, you know, and they said You know, you have to take them, okay, so I don't want to say I lost another year year and a half No, you felt like it I felt like it at first but then I appreciate it because that taught me a lot because you're learning the fundamental of Economics financials actually the courses that I took financial and managerial accounting courses They teach you how to read your balance sheet of the company, which is great A lot of people are clueless to that exactly and I actually I'm doing my old balance sheets PNLs That's awesome. I'm looking at every month and I'm kind of you know Looking through it, even though my CPA looks at it almost every month But when he talks about something I already know or you already know So that's why I was like that time out to me like oh my god I'm gonna lose another one year and a half two years, but it ended up working out working out for me so I started MBA program right after I finished it and Study administration business administration, so you studied what you wanted to study when you were with your dad Yes telling them this is what I want to do exactly, okay One little detail I left off before before I got into UCF the first year when I was in seminar community college My roommate told me hey, let's apply for a green card lottery. Oh, I said, what is that? I'm like lottery also is we're gonna win money is like no it's it's called green card lottery I still didn't understand the concept and he told me look you're gonna apply a lot of people are applying and they Pick you and if you they pick you you can stay in this country and you get the residency Okay, I'm like you're kidding for me to get my student visa I have to go through so much so much and they're just gonna give me my green card and that's it over like, you know Yeah, that easy. It's like yes, that's easy. I'm like Let's apply. Let's apply and I'm thinking welcome to the United States. Welcome to American dream.

Maya Rudolph. I was forgetting her first name. Bridesmaids, dude. Oh my gosh. If you're ever in a bad mood, you rent bridesmaids. Just watch Bridesmaids. That's a little crass, a little crude, especially the bridal shop suite. Oh, it's happening. It's happening. It's happening. Look away. Look away. In the middle of the street with a digestive issue. Oh my goodness. Hey, listen, I've got digestive issues this morning after. I didn't know what my expectations were. They were not high. It's Ohio and you figure, well, maybe they're not up for baby killing, but they were. And I think that the weed vote, the legal pot vote brought out all the young stupid people and that's how you get your abortion advocacy in Ohio. Listen, let me just let you talk because as pro -lifers, we've got a lot of work to do. We have a lot of work to do and that's why tonight's debate is part of the process. We're in the spin room right now and I'm just getting ready for interesting dueling events. You've got Trump down the street in Hialeah. You have five candidates on this stage tonight and I hope that they bring this up. I hope they bring up the abortion problem that the Republican Party has and that's all anybody's talking about. What do you want them to say? Well, we have to say something differently because every single election has gone down in flames since Roe v. Wade was overturned. And we got a battle going on within the party and I want to give you a little preview tonight because I got a chance to visit with Hugh Hewitt last night. He gave me some tips about what to look for as he's been here in preparation. He's one of the moderators. Salem Media Group, our parent company, is the official radio partner along with NBC, Rumble, and the Republican Jewish Coalition for tonight's third GOP presidential debate and five candidates are going to be on that stage. One thing I know for sure, they're going to have a decidedly somber tone tonight. They're going to be serious. We know with Hamas and the war in Israel and, frankly, with the shellacking that the GOP took last night, particularly in Virginia, Republicans have a ton of work to do. And the abortion problem has to be dealt with. There's no way around it. You can stomp your feet and you can say, I'm a proud pro -life American and I'm not going to bend or you're going to never win another election again. Abortion is winning for the Democrats, Mark. Now, those of you who say I'm pro -life and I'm not going to give an inch, I respect it. I admire it. I wish I wish the world worked that way. I'm sickened to say this. America's in love with abortion in this country. Find somebody in your life to love you the way Democrats love abortion. And increasingly, non -ideological folks in the squishy, mushy middle, they just flip a coin and go, all of the things being equal. I want abortion. Right. That's where we have a lot of work to do. And brow beating those people isn't going to work anymore, Mark, sitting around calling them baby killers, et cetera, et cetera. No, it just isn't going to work. Well, no, but it is what the procedure is. But I don't ever want to antagonize people. And I know you're right. In fact, let me let you finish, because I just want to see if you're wanting our Republican field to simply be demonstrably less pro -life to say, you know what, maybe we do need to allow more abortions in the following way, because I don't – No, I think I really do believe it comes down to the messaging. I don't know that Republicans – first of all, millions and millions of dollars of outside money were poured into Ohio last night by radical abortionists who convinced women that you're losing a fundamental right if you vote no on this horrific, radical – I mean, abortion now in Ohio is legal literally to the moment of conception. And in fact, parents now – Moment of birth. Moment of birth, I mean. And incidentally, parents don't even have a say in a minor child's decision to abort a baby. Now, you've got to give an okay to get a tattoo in Ohio. Yeah, exactly. Get a Tylenol in your high school. That's right. But not to get an abortion. But we lost. We got thumped on this. We got thumped on this. And we've gotten thumped on it every single time, Mark. It's not a close call. Something isn't working and Democrats are going to embrace this going into 2024. Does that mean you become decidedly pro -life? Well, I think for starters, you change the messaging as best you can. But I'm afraid that the answer you're not going to want to hear is, yeah, probably so. In 10 seconds, I think you meant decidedly pro -choice. No. Decidedly – do we become decidedly less pro -life? Yeah, less pro -life. Yeah. Do we become decidedly less pro -life? And that's the horrific reality of – how many times is it going to have to happen, Mark? How many times are we going to say, well, we're losing another election. We've lost every single election on the abortion issue since Roe v. Wade was overturned. And Mark, with all due respect, I love you. It's not just Democrats. It's not just squishy Republicans. It's women. It's women voters who believe they are – that somehow this right that is enshrined in the Constitution – oh, and oh, by the way, it's not – is being taken from them. And it's not – we just – we're not going to win by wagging our fingers at the people who don't see the world. You and I aren't where the country is on this, Mark. We're not. We are where conservatives are. And so the question becomes – and by the way, everything you've said is true and plausible and supportable. So, as we look at a presidential election and some folks on a debate stage tonight in a country where now it is left to the states, what Ohio did last night is precisely the way America goes in post -Roe v. Wade America. That's what we said we wanted. And we knew full well that there would be states that did things that we liked and states that did things that we didn't. How about if the candidates we have – and it's kind of interesting. I don't know how pro -life Chris Christie is. I know DeSantis is. I think Nikki Haley is. I sure know Tim Scott is. I think Vivek is. So should they express their – maybe satisfaction is the wrong word – their acceptance of post -Roe v. Wade America, where states are going to do what they wish to do and Ohio can do what they wish to do, but that they are going to continue to be a voice and use their presidential bully pulpit to say that protecting life is a better way, while saying that the states can do what they want to do? Well, I'm not going to be president of Ohio. I'm not going to be president of Nevada. I'm not going to be – etc. Go ahead. But that's happening. That's happening. Let me tell you. Well, let me break it to you. Roe v. Wade being overturned meant that states get to decide what to do. States are deciding what to do and they're pro -abortion. Yes. They are. Every single state. There's not a state that's deciding in favor of the pro -life movement. You know, you can say, well, we're the good conservatives in this. Except, except, except heartbeat bills, heartbeat bills, heartbeat bills in Florida, in Texas, in other states. So – Well, but that's not legislation that conflicts with what is perceived to be a woman's right to choose an abortion being taken from her. You're so right. I mean, Glenn Youngkin has floated the 15 -week idea. And let's talk about Glenn Youngkin, incidentally, because there were high hopes for Virginia. And hey, Virginia, we got our butts kicked. I mean, they flipped the legislature. They didn't even – in fact, that wasn't even on the radar. They were hoping – we were hoping that Glenn Youngkin would lead a flip of the Senate over there. They lost it all. They lost the whole state legislature. Guess what? Glenn Youngkin is no longer going to be considered a candidate for president. I've got a buddy here – Well, he never was. Well, but keep an eye on him. He's not – Not this year. I mean, does he have a future? Of course he does. Look at him at 2028. But I have a guy here, Alfredo Ortiz, who's a dear friend, the CEO of Job Creators Network, and he had a theory. In fact, he's going to be with me tomorrow here in Miami. They're sponsoring our broadcast from the post -debate spin room. Alfredo said, if Virginia has a huge night last night, Glenn Youngkin will throw his hat in the ring as the 11th -hour savior of the Republican Party. Wouldn't matter. There's no room. That would be – It's too late. That would be – It's too late. It wouldn't matter. But anyway, he got shellacked. I mean, it was a bad night for him. It was a bad night for the GOP, and there's no way around it. Hey, Tate Reeves is still governor of Mississippi, yay. We kept one. We got that. We got that. We got some – and Joe Biden is still dropping like a rock in all the polls. And Trump is rocking and rolling and continues to lead in five swing states. So there's just data all over the place that are mixed as to what 2024 is going to look like. But you get an interesting view at five people who really want to catch Trump, and not a single one of them probably will. But it'll be fun to watch anyway. What do you think happens tonight? Yeah, it'll be kind of – What's the headline? What do you think? I'm going to keep an eye on Chris Christie because I'm just praying he starts screaming at his own audience and they start booing him. Exactly. And they start throwing orange peels and banana peels at him. I mean, that thing in Orlando, I played that clip. I'm sure you did, too. Sure. Oh, my. Have you ever seen a public – And what's the word again? I'm sorry. Your failure to embrace the truth is – Reprehensible. Thank you. I keep going deplorable, but that was Hillary, and we'd see how great that worked out for her. No, no. Reprehensible. Reprehensible. When you're talking to your own people – Yes. And calling them reprehensible – The people you're trying to get to vote for you, ideally. Not a good look. And I think – and interestingly, Hewitt and I last night, we had a great Salem party. And listen, we're very proud of this. I mean, say what you will about the meaninglessness. It's a big deal for us. Of course it is. For Salem to partner with NBC, and Hugh's going to be on that stage. Which means at least one conservative will be asking questions. Exactly. While Kristen Welker asks everybody about January 6th, at least Hugh will be there. And let me give you a scoop. Hugh is exhausted. Last night was the ninth rehearsal they had for this debate. I said nine? How do you rehearse? What do you do? You put staffers up at various lecterns and have ads just to kind of get through the drill? They put a couple hundred people in the audience. They test these guys because he – and he said Lester Holt and Kristen Welker have been just pros. He said Kristen's kind of the new kid on the block, but Lester's a veteran journalist. But they've got to be ready for everything. I mean, Hugh's ready for eruptions from the audience and how do you handle that and how do you interact. Anyway, they've had nine rehearsals for tonight's debate. And also, Hugh gave me a scoop. He said, watch DeSantis' performance. He has just hired fairly recently one of the best debate preparers in the business. I don't – I forgot the guy's name. I'll try to get it. I think it's Brad. I could not care less. Well, I know. But it's – Binders don't matter. Prep doesn't matter. DeSantis is DeSantis and he's wonderful. He's not Trump. DeSantis' worst problem is that Trump exists. I'll never forget the caller or the person who tweeted or something said that the only problem with DeSantis is he was not the best president of my lifetime. And Trump was. Trump exists. There's nothing the matter with DeSantis. There's nothing wrong with Nikki Haley except she's the queen of forever war. You heard Nikki Haley the other day saying the people who will abandon Ukraine are the people who will give up on Israel. Shut up, man. That's not smart. That's not a smart thing. But I can't wait. I know it may not matter at all. It's half the interest if Trump were there. Trump will be there down the road in Hialeah, you said, right? Heavily Cuban -American population there. By the time she got to NASA in 1980, she also had three science -related college degrees, including a doctorate. There's some things that he's noticed about direction sports are going in that he doesn't like, and we're gonna try to fix it. So that's the podcast, first, our friends from Pearl Jam. Here we go. All right, I'm gonna throw an NBA Power Poll at you. I'm not sure I'm gonna do this every Tuesday, but I definitely wanna do this some Tuesdays. I'm gonna go through all 30 teams as fast as possible. And I'm gonna throw things out that I feel like are important when necessary. Pot shots, important comments, things I've noticed, some fake trades, you've known me for a while. It's gonna be all the typical stuff. Going backwards from 30 to one, I'll give you the groups as we go. The first group is called the Dregs. That's Washington number 30. They are 30th in defense. And the only reason they're 30th in defense is because we only have 30 teams. I actually think there's some way they could have been 36th in defense. They're the only team in the entire league that I do not wanna watch on league pass for any reason at all. They're one and five, 15 .6 point differential against them. Shoot this team into the sun. I cannot believe House thought this team was gonna go over 24 wins. They might not go over 14 wins. They're awful. I never want them on my TV. Next group, probably the lottery. I say probably, but I'm gonna zip through these teams and then go back to somebody. 29 Utah, 28 Portland, 27 Detroit, 26 San Antonio, 25 Charlotte, who is way more fun than I expected they would be to watch, and 24 Chicago. It just feels like the lottery's in the future for all these teams. I wanna talk about San Antonio really quick. Three and four, kind of a sneaky, tough schedule. They played Phoenix twice, the Clippers, Dallas, that goofy Indiana team, Houston, and Toronto. They're minus 8 .6 point differential because they've gotten blown out a couple of times, and they're 29th on defense, which I was surprised by per 100 possessions. The thing that I wanted to point out here, because this one Benyama thing is super important. This is the best teenager that's come into the league, at least since LeBron. We can debate. LeBron, I think in year two, for two months at least, was a teenager when he was putting up 27, seven, and seven. When he started his 27, seven, seven cycle. Wembe might be the best teenager I've ever seen. They're starting Jeremy Sohan at point guard, and Pop's been transparent about this. No, no, we know we're gonna take some lumps. We're trying to figure this out. I went to the game when they played the Clippers, I talked about it in a previous pod, and it was just an absolute debacle, watching poor Sohan try to run the offense, bring the ball up. Now we're seeing teams starting to pressure them because he's not a point guard. He's a small forward. There's crazy stats now. Trey Jones, just by being on this team and not being Jeremy Sohan, is now one of the best advanced metrics point guards of all time. Right now, his per 100 on -off is plus 28 .3 because Sohan is minus 22 .7. That's how disparate the two things are. Which brings me to my point, this is too important. You have the best teenager maybe ever. You have one of the best league pass players already in the entire league in Wimby. I have no idea how long he's gonna stay healthy, knock on wood, hear me knock really loud. I just got my dog going. No, that was me, dumb ass. They need one more point guard. TJ McConnell is on Indiana, and they have Halliburton, who's averaging a 24 -12. He's awesome. They have Nembhard, who's great as a backup. McConnell's like, he's 13 minutes a game. He's clearly a trade piece for them. Just go get him. I'm not saying San Antonio has to make the playoffs, but they need to be entertaining, and Wimby needs to play with point guards. He clearly needs just to play off people, high screens, all that stuff. They need one more point guard. TJ McConnell is my choice. They have all their own firsts. They're not gonna trade those obviously, but they have some goofy picks. They have Charlotte's top 14 protected first. They have a pretty good Chicago first that I wouldn't give up. They have a first swap with Boston. There's ways to do this. I would just put that Charlotte pick next year on the table and just grab them because you guys hit the lottery. Literally, with Wimby -Dyama, literally hit the lottery. You hit the lottery and you hit the lottery. Get to do two point guards. We're not asking for much here. I wanna watch this guy. I wanna enjoy him play basketball. All right, next section is panic time. Number 23, Memphis. They're one and six. They finally got out to Schneider. And number 22, Sacramento, who lost twice to Houston in three days by 18 and 25. No Darren Fox for either game. Panic time in this respect. I know we're six games in the season, seven games in the season, but the West is one of those things where you're gonna look up and the car is left. The car has left the driveway and your family is gone. You're gonna be basically Kevin and home alone if you don't get your shit together. And I don't even wanna be two games under 500 in the West. That's how deep and good the West is. So when you're one and six, like all of a sudden two and 12, two and 13, Sacramento could all of a sudden be three and nine. I would just be nervous constantly. This is not like last year when the Lakers started out two and 10 and ended up making the playoffs. Nobody is doing that this year. The cutoff line is gonna be 46 wins. Memphis looks, they just can't score. And I think it's gonna be really, we talked about this verno last week. It's gonna be really hard for them to crawl back and be at least like 11 and 14, something like that by the time Ja comes back. The Sacramento thing, we predicted this when we did the over -under preview, like the conference is way better and they stayed basically the same. And now Fox is hurt. So it can take Fox going out for 10 games and all of a sudden you're not even in the playing game. I would just be nervous, so it's both of those teams. Again, it's early. Next group, friskier than we hoped. We have number 21, Brooklyn. Ben Simmons averaging almost 11 rebounds and seven assists a game. And yet you can't play him at crunch time, bizarre. Number 20, Orlando. Number 19, Houston. Number 18, Indiana. And number 17, Toronto. Just quickly on Houston, a delightful league pass team. I had no idea. It's like being at a buffet dinner and somebody brings like some, have you ever had a fried oyster? It's like, great, I'll try that. And then it's delicious. They play hard. I like watching them. And I did not expect a Shungun to be a potential all -star, but that's where we are. They're three and three. Again, they beat Sacramento twice, we'll see. But Orlando at number 20. Every time I do this, I'm gonna have a BS all -star of the week. I used to do this when I wrote my column back in the day. I used to call them the Bill Simmons all -stars, just people that I just liked for whatever reason. I love Jalen Suggs. I don't really know fully what he is. He tries harder than everybody on every other team. He really gives a shit. He feels additive in all these different ways. And yet at the same time, he'll absolutely like airball a three in one of the biggest moments of the game. But that guy cares. I watched a game where he got this hustle rebound. Can't remember who they, they lost at the buzzer. Get this hustle rebound and dribble back out and took a three and missed it and put his jersey over his head for like the next minute and a half. I actually think he might've been crying. He was so upset they lost. He is the most competitive random guy in the league. I love Jalen Suggs. Oh, as Saruti said, it's the Laker game. I love Jalen Suggs. I don't know what he is. He might just end up being like a seventh man on a championship team at some point. He's gonna have a moment on a good team. I don't know if Orlando's gonna be the team, but it's gonna happen for that dude. I also really like Anthony Black more than I thought, but we'll see. It's early for this team. Palo hasn't gotten going. Somehow they're four and three. We'll see when the schedule gets harder. Toronto at number 17, just the Lakers miss Schroeder. And I like what Schroeder's doing in Toronto. They're three and four, but they easily could be five and two. I've been watching them because I have their over under, I bet on. And I like where Toronto's at. I think they're better than they were last year. I think they're at least a playing team. Number 18, Indiana though. So their second in offensive rating and 25th in defense. In the 25th, I was actually surprised it wasn't worse. They can't guard anybody. They're shooting 43s a game. Their top six guys are all over 40 % three point shooting. They're kind of like the 80s Nuggets, but with threes. And they just play with a certain pace. And some days it's going to be bad. Like the Celtics put 155 points on them and it probably could have been 160 if they'd made some shots. Hal Burton's special. He's a 24 -12 this year. But the crazy thing about their offense is that Matherin's been terrible. And Matherin was a guy that they were like, this is going to be our guy. He's making a leap. We're going to trade Buddy Heald. We got to give the card keys to Matherin in that spot. And he's been bad. And their offense has still been pretty good. This is a team that anytime you see them, I don't know if you bet basketball, but if they're like plus 11, plus 12, it's like they could beat anybody any night. I'm just telling you. I'm not saying they're going to win a round in the playoffs, but just night to night, that's a team that they could just go 22 for 45 from three, make some shots. And Hal Burton, they actually should be five and two. Hal Burton blew the last possession against Charlotte the other night. But I've enjoyed watching them. I've watched an insane amount of basketball, by the way. All right, next group, the wildcards. I don't have a lot to say about these teams, but we'll go in order. Number 16, New Orleans, just seem jinxed. I'll come back to them in a second. Number 15, Cleveland. I want to see them with Garland and just, I want to watch them for a couple of weeks. I like the Struce edition, but we'll see. The Knicks, they're three and four. Nice win against the Clippers. The Randall thing continues to be nuts. Now he's taking out guys in the other team. Clippers 13, just traded for Harden. We talked about the Knicks and Clippers last week. Look, the Clippers, they played one game and they got killed by the Knicks. They're worse. I told you that last week. Still feel that way. Guess what they can't do now? Any transition stuff. The Knicks, 26 to six in fast break points last night. Rebounding. They got out, rebounded by 17 by the Knicks. Harden just brings so many things that you don't want in a starting five, but then he brings the great passing and the scoring and he can have the ball all the time. They don't need anyone to have the ball all the time because they have all these other guys who need the ball. I just don't like the trade. I continue to not like it and I don't understand it. I actually liked the team they had before they made the trade. So congrats again, Clippers. Number 12, Miami. 28th offensively. Kind of feels worse when you watch them. They haven't had their full team for a couple weeks. I'm not gonna judge them at all until December. I'm not gonna judge Dallas either. Dallas I have at number 11. They're six and one, fourth in offense. They've had a really easy schedule. So that's why, let's see what happens. Their one loss is to Denver. Let's see what happens when they play some tough teams all in a row and have one of those four games in six nights or three on the road. One of those situations. But they are in better shape than they were last year. And you look at the Grant Williams piece, which I'm not spiteful when I watch my old players. I'm rooting for Grant Williams. It's like seeing somebody you dated that you still have a good relationship with. It was nice to see him do well for them. Derek Lively seems like they have something. We talked about him last week, but he's at least like a rim runner in that kind of Nick Claxton world, but maybe a little more violent alley -oop or a little young Clint Cappelli. The Kyrie thing is the piece that I'm really interested in this. He finally had a good game last night, but for this season, 24 % shooting, 3 .8 free throws a game, which are always the two numbers to look at with Kyrie. What's he shooting threes? Is he getting in the line? And so far it's been neither, but he seems happy. When you watch them, they've been a surprisingly pleasant watch, and he seems like in a good spot. So I don't want to jinx it because as annoying as he's been over the years, and you know my stance on Kyrie, I just don't trust him. And I just feel like a seven -year track record of imploding kind of has to start to mean something after a while, but it is fun to watch him play basketball. And it does feel like he's got a specific spot on this team. They don't have to rely on him too much. It's very similar to where he was in 15 and 16 and 17 with the Cavs where he could kind of float in and out like a cat with LeBron. It's like, I'm feeling it. Oh, all right, let's give Kyrie the ball. The shooting going down though, it's a small sample size, but they also haven't been playing tough teams yet. And I'm just monitoring that because with guards, it can kind of sometimes go sideways pretty fast, and you don't realize it happened until after it happened. Just quickly going backwards to number 16, New Orleans, because they lost Ingram, they lost McCollum already. And they have this Hawkins who they drafted that everybody liked coming out of the draft, but the fact that he can play right away has actually kind of saved them a little bit. I just, I still feel like we need to do some sort of ceremony or something with them. Like we need the people from the Conjuring to just do something with New Orleans basketball. It just shouldn't be this bad every year. Your team shouldn't have two, three major injuries every year. You should have good luck at some point. And this goes back to the seventies. Remember, when they moved, when they became the New Orleans Jazz, their first major, major giant trade was for Gail Goodrich with the Lakers. They had to give up two first rounders, and he immediately blew out his Achilles. He played, I'm gonna say, less than a season. And one of the picks turned out to be Magic Johnson. So that's where we started with New Orleans, and it's been awful ever since. Nothing good has happened in this team other than they've won a couple of lotteries, but even the lotteries they won, the Davis, Anthony when they were in Charlotte before they got to New Orleans, they bring him to New Orleans and he wants to leave. And then they win the Zion thing, which seemed like the luckiest thing that ever happened to them. And meanwhile, we're still waiting for him to play two straight months. So Conjuring people, something. We need something to happen with that team. All right, the top 10. We're at a good pace right now. Where are we at? Yeah, feeling good. This is working. Young and hungry is the next thing. We got Oklahoma City at number 10 and Atlanta at number nine. If you remember, Atlanta was one of the, these are the two teams I was going nuts for before the season for their over -unders. I love the Atlanta over -under. I love the New Orleans over. And I like what I've seen from both. OK sees four and three, Atlanta's four and three. Atlanta's sixth in offense. And that's notable because Trae Young has sucked again shooting west. He's 28 % from three. Last year's 33 % from three. This might not be happening the next Steph Curry thing. Like what age does he have to hit where we have to go? All right, he's not the next Steph Curry. Because I think I hit that age last year at age, when I was age 53. I think I hit that for Trae. They killed Minnesota, which is notable. We'll talk about Minnesota in a second. But they really, I watched that game and they really, really, really handled them. I like this Atlanta team. And I think there's a path for them to be a three or a four seed if Trae can get going. And then OKC, trade for a big already. You're a guy short, like stop. You guys have a chance to be like a 50 win team. What are you doing? I want to see what's going on with Josh Getty in about two weeks. Whether it looks different than it has for the first couple of weeks here. I don't like, he's not going in the free throw line at all. 1 .3 a game. 26 % three point shooting, which we knew. He can't shoot threes. But there's also like the Chet piece of it. Seems like it's throwing them off. And I've watched games where they've taken them out at crunch time.

And if you haven't followed this, I mean, I guess DeSantis likes cowboy boots. So he wears cowboy boots all the time. And I've seen videos. Admittedly, he walks a little awkwardly. I'm trying to be generous here and I don't want to pile on, but I admit there's one video. Maybe it was AI. Maybe it was artificial intelligence that made it look like he's walking in a peculiar way. But it looks like he's having a hard time, like, walking in those boots. That, to me, is more significant than whether or not he's actually, whether he's got lifts. He's 5 '11", he said. I don't know. Is he short? Who cares? Who really cares if he's short or tall? I don't know why that's a factor. Here's Stephen Colbert last night having some fun. So, you know, all these guys, they have a look, right? Glenn Youngkin wears the vests, and I guess DeSantis wears the cowboy boots, although I've seen him with the vest as well. Here was Nikki Haley last night on Comedy Central. She was on The Daily Show, of all places, trying to expand her reach, I guess, to potential voters. Here she is making fun of Ron DeSantis and the cowboy boots. My last question, are you wearing higher heels than Ron DeSantis next week at the debate so you can look taller than him on the stage? I don't know. We'll have to figure that out. I can tell you, I've always talked about my high heels. I've never, you know, hid that from anybody. I've always said don't wear them if you can't run in them, so we'll see if he can run in them. Now, by the way, is that Charlamagne the God? What is Charlamagne the God doing on The Daily Show? A highlight from SBF Trial, Day 16: In Final Cross Examination, SBF Gets Caught Again by His Own Words

Welcome to the Unchained Recap for Day 16 of the SBF trial. Thanks for tuning in. The government wrapped up its cross -examination of former FTX CEO Sam Bankman -Fried on Tuesday with Assistant U .S. Attorney Danielle Sassoon shooting more rapid -fire strings of questions at SBF that underscored the incredulity of some of his claims, plus a mic -dropping set of final questions that seemed to indicate the defendant's knowledge of his guilt. In her cross -examination, Sassoon interrogated the defendant's relationship with Bahamian officials, his efforts to determine who would have spent the $8 billion of missing FTX customer funds, his concern — or lack thereof — about the fiat ad account, and his infamous Nov. 7 tweets telling customers' assets were fine, which he deleted the next day. The defense followed with a redirect examination aimed at recreating reasonable doubt that the 31 -year -old former FTX and Alameda research CEO did not defraud or conspire to defraud customers, investors, and lenders. It used the time to give Bankman -Fried space to further expound on his answers in the cross -examination Monday. The prosecution started its cross -examination by asking Bankman -Fried about whether he cultivated a close relationship with Bahamian officials. For instance, she asked whether SBF recalled proposing to the Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis that FTX pay off the country's national debt of roughly $11 .6 billion. SBF said, quote, I don't remember that. Sassoon also asked SBF about having a conversation with Davis' son about a job in NFTs and giving Davis and his wife, quote, floor -side seats at FTX Arena to see the Miami Heat. She brought up a screenshot of a Signal group chat named Project Chinchilla Chatter, where SBF had joked that former co -CEO of FTX Digital Markets Ryan Salem was a member of the Bahamas government. She also mentioned a private dinner and played a video from the Crypto Bahamas conference. Davis was in attendance at both, alongside guests like former US President Bill Clinton, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, singer Katy Perry, and actor Orlando Bloom. Then she pulled up an email from November 9, 2022, between the defendant and Bahamas Attorney General Ryan Pinder. By that point, FTX had halted withdrawals. And yet, in the email, Bankman Fried wrote to Pinder, quote, we have segregated funds for all Bahamian customers on FTX, and we would be more than happy to open up withdrawals for all Bahamian customers on FTX. Bankman Fried admitted that FTX was reopened temporarily solely for Bahamian customers. When Sassoon asked him about what she called Alameda spending the FTX customer fiat deposits from the North Dimension bank account owned by Alameda, Bankman Fried said he did not learn until September -October 2022 that FTX customer fiat deposits in the North Dimension account had been, quote, used. Under the quick questioning from Sassoon, SBF admitted that it was, quote, permissible for Alameda to borrow and use fiat deposits, and yet that he didn't tell his employees not to spend FTX customer deposits, didn't set up measures to segregate FTX customer funds from Alameda's funds, didn't tell Alameda employees to keep FTX customer money in the North Dimension bank account for the benefit of FTX customers, and yet made representations before Congress about the safeguarding of FTX customer assets. Bankman Fried claimed that in September -October 2022, he learned that $8 billion of customer money had been spent. When Sassoon asked him what information he learned about who had spent it, he said, quote, I don't remember knowing anything about particular employees. She rejoined her, so it's your testimony that while you were CEO of Alameda, by the way, I think she meant FTX, some unknown people spent $8 billion without your knowledge? Then she asked him, you didn't call in your deputies and employees and say who spent $8 billion? He said he asked Ellison how it happened. Sassoon asked whether he had fired anyone for spending $8 billion of FTX customer deposits. He responded, no. She responded, and so, just to be clear, it's your testimony that while you were Alameda CEO, your employees were spending millions and then billions of customer funds without you knowing it? SPF denied that it was his testimony. During the defense's redirect, Cohen asked Bankman Fried why he had denied to Sassoon that he had spent the $8 billion. SPF first stated how he didn't think, quote, there was a clear, simple pointer decision where a particular person or group decided to spend the money. Moreover, he, quote, wasn't particularly interested in trying to dole out blame for it. That wasn't my priority. It was generally something I deprioritized as later, and I tried to focus as much as I could on what stuff has happened, what's the best thing we can do going forward. Similar to the earlier line of questioning about whether or not Bankman Fried had tried to identify who had spent $8 billion of FTX customer money, Sassoon showed multiple times that SPF's actions don't quite match his story. For instance, he described simply overhearing about the fiat ad account from FTX co -founder Gary Wang and director of engineering Nishad Singh just after Ellison had feared that Alameda might have gone bankrupt. Earlier, he had testified that at this point, SPF learned that Alameda's liabilities to FTX were $10 billion, not $2 billion as he thought. In this section of the transcript, Danielle Sassoon says, and you didn't say, hey guys, what's this fiat ad account that had an $8 billion bug that almost made Alameda bankrupt? SPF replied, when I heard it, I didn't have all that context, but I did ask what the fiat ad account that was an account was referring to. Question, and you were told, weren't you, that it had to do with Alameda's liabilities to FTX for customer funds, right? Answer, not at that time. I was told they were busy and I should stop asking questions because it was distracting. Sassoon asked, so it's your testimony that your supervisees told you to stop asking questions? In the overflow room, people laughed. Sassoon aimed at Bankman -Fried's credibility, highlighting tweets that, from the government's point of view, demonstrated how the defendant misrepresented FTX's financial status to customers. She focused on several tweets SPF posted on November 7, which were deleted the day after, once it became known that FTX did not have the full amount of assets to process customer withdrawals. Bankman -Fried said that before FTX went bankrupt, but as customers were rapidly withdrawing from the exchange, he was writing tweets because, among other things, he wanted to reassure customers and have them leave their funds on the exchange instead of withdrawing. Referring to the statement in the November 7th tweet, quote, FTX has enough to cover all client holdings, Sassoon said, quote, your tweet doesn't say that Alameda has enough to cover all client holdings, does it? He agreed. She reminded him that in previous testimony, he said that when he wrote this tweet, he was referring to the fact that Alameda had more in assets than liabilities. He said he wouldn't put it that way, but then she asked, quote, on November 7th, FTX itself, if you disregarded Alameda's assets, did not have enough to cover all client holdings. He disagreed. Bankman -Fried admitted that even if he and Alameda had liquidated its assets, for example, by either selling their investments in Robinhood and recalling their money from Modulo, the amount was still less than needed to cover FTX's obligation to its customers. And Sassoon asked him if these assets were investments. He said yes. Then she said, quote, you tweeted, didn't you, that we don't invest client assets? He said, that is correct. For the final line of questioning for the cross -examination, Sassoon created a mic drop moment that indicates SPF knew who the four co -conspirators were even before all four were publicly known. Sassoon began by asking, quote, Mr. Bankman -Fried, you would agree that you, Caroline, Gary, and Nashan were the ones involved in the decisions to spend FTX customer money by Alameda, right? He said no. Then she asked if he had learned in December that Caroline and Gary had pleaded guilty. He said yes. When asked if he knew that they were both cooperating with the government, he said he wasn't sure, but, quote, I may have. Then she pointed out that in January, he would have learned that Singh had also pleaded guilty. He said January or February. She asked if, in December, when he'd heard about the guilty pleas of Caroline and Gary, he'd been surprised not to learn anything about Nashad. He agreed. She responded, because Nashad was the fourth person involved in your scheme to use FTX customer money, right? He said nope. She pulled up the same Google doc written on December 25, 2022, in which, in Monday's testimony, Sassoon had shown he'd been wondering if he could get the Robin Hood shares transferred to himself. However, this time, she focused on a different section of the document, labeled Nashad. Question, do you see it says Nashad? Answer, I do. Question, and A says, quote, lots of the complaints, et cetera, filed at this point make claims like the three co -conspirators in a way that doesn't really seem to leave much room for them adding on a fourth. They don't seem to be keeping a seat warm for him as a defendant. Do you see that? Answer, I do see that. Question, B, also there's no plea deal, no nothing, yet. Do you see that? Answer, I do see that. And quote, C, what does this mean? One, he got immunity. Two, they aren't bothering with him. Three, they'll just have a separate parallel set of complaints for him once they get past whatever the blocker is. Four, something else? You wrote that Mr. Bankman -Friede, correct? Answer, I think so. After the defense's redirect, the judge and both teams of lawyers had a charging conference to revise the jury's instructions. But I'm going to say it anyway. I think Nikki Haley is going to surpass Ron DeSantis. I think Governor Nikki Haley is the one to watch. She is surging. She's now ahead of DeSantis in New Hampshire. She's now tied for second with DeSantis in Iowa. I think Nikki Haley is carving out a lane that might just give her the path to second place. Now, I don't know that anybody is going to overtake President Trump. But then again, you never know what's going to happen with anything. You never know what's going to happen with anybody or anything. And Nikki Haley, The Daily Beast, Matt Lewis over The Daily Beast had an analysis. Here's why Nikki Haley is gaining in the polls and Ron DeSantis is not. She's now tied with DeSantis for second in Iowa according to a new Des Moines Register NBC News MediaCom Iowa poll. More importantly, the trend lines show DeSantis down three points and Haley up 10 points since August. What's more, Haley has already surpassed DeSantis in New Hampshire. She's now in second place in the first in the nation primary. She is emerging as the alternative to Donald Trump, at least in part because she's more likable than DeSantis. Now, that's according to The Daily Beast. I don't know, is she more likable than – frankly, the emerging narrative is that anybody is more likable than Ron DeSantis. I don't think of Ron DeSantis as likable or unlikable. He's kind of a policy guy. He's smart. He's effective. He's accomplished. He's really – he's good. There's nothing wrong with Ron DeSantis except he's not Donald Trump. But a lot of people are convinced that Ron DeSantis is still the alternative. I don't know. I don't know the answer to this. I don't know. But The Daily Beast's Matt Lewis writes that Nikki Haley has not made the mistake that Ron DeSantis made. He asserts that Ron DeSantis chose a lane that was already taken. Instead of assembling a coalition of Reagan conservatives who never liked Trump and former Trumpers who are ready to move on, Ron DeSantis chose to ignore or offend the former and focus on attracting current Trumpers who have no interest in quitting the Donald. She chose a lane that went after Trump pretty rigidly. She criticized Trump for adding $8 trillion to our debt. She called him the most disliked politician in America. And Matt Lewis' analysis is her strategy worked. As recently as this spring, Ron DeSantis looked like the best positioned Republican to take on Trump. Haley seemed as unlikely to catch fire as Mike Pence who, as we know, dropped out of the race this past weekend. Today, he writes, Haley is the one to watch while Ron DeSantis' star seems to be fading. Do you agree with that? Now, the team gave me a clip that went viral. Ron DeSantis went on a very popular podcast with a guy named Patrick Bet -David, this PBD podcast. And it's getting a lot of traction. It's a very popular podcast. I hear a lot of people say that they're engaging in this podcast that this guy does. And it's one of those teams, I don't know, it's called the PBD podcast. And the guy's name is Patrick Bet -David. And people took this clip and ran with it and said, this Patrick Bet -David has single -handedly ended Ron DeSantis' candidacy. Now, that's hyperbolic and that's exaggeration to be sure. But it is fair to, and I was wondering about this. I really debated this. Driving into work this morning, I thought, should I play this clip or not? I don't want to embarrass Ron DeSantis. I don't want to attack him. I'm not anti -DeSantis. I'm not anti -Republican. We desperately need to defeat the Democrats in 2024. I'm convinced the Democrat we're going to have to beat is Gavin Newsom. Incidentally, did you see Newsom over in China? What the heck's the California governor doing kissing up to Xi in China? Well, he wants to run for president. He thinks he's going to be the Democrat nominee. And I believe he very well could be. Now, I'm going to play this clip for you against my better judgment. Tracy's convincing me we should play it just so people can hear what people are talking about on social media. DeSantis is terribly embarrassed, I'm sure, by this. And he is very rigid in controlling his media interviews. Trust me, I've got some personal experience in that field. Here's Governor DeSantis on this very popular podcast that has already been viewed now millions and millions of times. DeSantis wears cowboy boots a lot. And his critics make fun of his penchant for cowboy boots. And they suggest that the reason he's wearing boots is that he's got lifts in them because he's short. So this guy, this Patrick Bet -David goes right at him on the issue of cowboy boots. Again, not a very comfortable place for Governor DeSantis to be. I thought I'd share it with you anyway. I know you were on, what do you call it? What was it? Bill Maher. And Bill Maher talked about the boots. I've seen you walk with these boots. Go ahead and play this clip. This on TikTok went viral. It doesn't have a million views. It doesn't have, you know, 10 million views. This thing's got 1 .2 million likes. And some people are wondering... They've not shown this to you. And I suppose the narrative that has emerged is that Governor DeSantis isn't particularly likable. And if you believe this Daily Beast analysis by Matt Davis, Nikki Haley is. She is more likable. Of course, we'll touch some of the hot topics and some of the leading headlines of today, but I'm going to go I'm going to go somewhere else today and and and we'll bob and weave throughout the throughout the program here. I think I want to start here. I want to make some emphatic comments, and I know a lot of people might not be comfortable with these comments, but by the end of the show, I hope and pray that you will be and you will understand just how important they are, because there's a war that is occurring not just against Israel and Hamas or, dare I say, Israel and Iran, a war, sadly, that the United States government, under the leadership of Joe Biden, has helped to cultivate. And I say that, sadly, but I believe it to be true with all of my heart. But there's a war that's taking place right here in the United States, and I believe that it's already begun. We're going to talk about several issues, and honestly, we'll go throughout the entire three hours. They're not necessarily going to be broken up, but we're going to talk about crime right here in the United States. We're going to talk about the border problem. We're going to talk about the problem that is Islamist, Islamicism or Islamism or Islamic Jihad. We're going to talk about all of these issues because I think they're very, very important. But first, let me say this. Let me start off with this. Many of you in the audience or many of you in the listening audience have been taught to believe that diversity is our strength when it comes to America. That is a damn lie. Diversity is not our strength. Diversity will be our downfall. Now, if you're talking about diversity as far as the brain is concerned, that would be one thing. But unfortunately, when it comes to DEI, that's not what we're experiencing today. DEI, diversity, equity, inclusion, CRT, all of that racist bullcrap, that is taking us down. That is identity politics. What that has caused us to do is to divide on issues that we shouldn't be divided against. Let me say this. Even if you are an anti -Semite, even if you are an anti -Semite, even if you're a bigot and you're a despicable person in that sense, in my opinion, we all should be able to agree that when it comes to, let's say, listen, I'm not going to hold any punches. So parents, for those of you parents that are listening in, I'm going to describe some of the things that we know took place in Israel at the hands of Hamas. And so I just want to brace you. And this might be a recurring theme throughout the show. So if you have little ears around, I want you to brace them. I am a Christian, so I will try to watch my mouth, but I'm going to shoot straight with you. I'm going to shoot straight with you. And I believe that you deserve nothing less than for me to shoot straight with you. But we used to believe at least that when it came to, let's say, rape, killing women and children, beheading people, that should be a line that I think we all can agree that we should not cross, right? I think we, at least in the United States of America, we used to believe that those things were evil, right? I mean, anti -Semitism is evil, but we understand that there's going to be bigots if you don't act on your beliefs when it comes to that. Okay, listen, it's a free country. I can't stand you, but it's a free country. But now we seem to have quote unquote Americans that are Hamas sympathizers, that are terrorist sympathizers, and they don't belong here. They don't belong here, in my opinion. They're anti -American. So I'm here to say diversity is not our strength. That's total BS. It's going to be our downfall. And the left is specifically and intentionally focusing on issues that will divide us. This is dangerous. Let me tell you some of the things that should happen. I'm going to talk about, man, I get so much, it's insane. But I'm going to talk about the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act, how stupid that was and how that's coming to bite us in the butt. Another thing that the Democrats embraced because they were losing the vote, that's part of the reason and why they finally embraced or they tried to leave their racism in the past and tried to project it onto Republicans. So we'll talk about that a little bit. I want to talk about the warfare that is immigration. A lot of people are thinking of war in conventional ways, and we should be, right? We should be on our guard. But I'm going to talk to you about the warfare by immigration, the warfare that is our immigration system, the warfare that is our open borders. Also, I'm going to talk to you about popping caps. We're going to talk about the Second Amendment. We're going to talk about the lies that the Vice President Kamala Harris was spewing last week when she was in, whatever, the press conference that she gave with the Australian Prime Minister. I got some numbers for you, and the numbers and the things that she were saying were just a complete and utter lie. That lady, I hate to say it because I don't want to be mean, but the truth of the matter is that lady is dumber than a box of rocks, and she has no business being Vice President of the United States. Now, Joe Biden is almost equally as dumb, but I don't even think he's as dumb as her, despite the fact that, in my opinion, the man has dementia. This is one of these left -wing people and Vice President Kamala Harris that has literally, I believe, been trained up in some of her thinking without really thinking about it, if you will. Let me tell you where we should start when it comes to immigration, and we'll get into this, and we'll get into the war by immigration. We'll get into this nonsense about the Australian buyback program and how it allegedly saved lives and reduced the numbers of gun ownership. All of this is a complete and utter lie. That's all the left do. They lie, they lie, they lie, they lie while they destroy the country. And if you hate America and if you're pro -Palestinian, which means pro -Hamas, I can't stand you behind, and I hope you leave the country. Move to Gaza. I hear there's an excellent fireworks show happening there right now that you could be a part of. All right, so merit -based immigration. I want to talk about that. Merit -based immigration. We need to move back to a merit -based immigration, and this is very important. This is crucial for our survival. Sadly, I don't think any American president has done it effectively in quite some time. We had a moratorium, and then with the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, we destroyed that, and we began to destroy America. Democrats began to destroy America. Here's where we should be. Here's what we should be doing. All right, so currently, as it stands right now, we allow 1 .1, approximately 1 illegal, .1 I'm sorry, legal immigrants into the country annually. All right, we're going to have to change that makeup due to what Joe Biden has done, the open borders, because I'm telling you, guys, there's a war of immigration that is taking place. And while we sit here and we watch for, we wait for the beheadings and we wait for the mass shootings and all of this kind of stuff, I'm telling you, we are already at war. And China is at the helm. A lot of these countries in the Middle East, exception being Israel, are useful idiots for China. They don't realize that yet, but they will someday. They will someday. Russia also, they will someday. They'll realize it that they're useful idiots for China. But currently we allow in, again, approximately 1 .1 legal immigrants into the United States. The makeup of that is going to have to change. We'll talk about that. And I'm sorry, I think there's going to have to be a moratorium on that. At the very least, I believe we're going to have to cut those numbers in half until we can control the immigration process that doesn't seem to exist right now. I mean, these open borders are absolutely scary to me. This is the biggest threat. This is the biggest threat hitting the United States of these things. I've talked about how the left is trying to depopulate America. Perhaps I'll reintroduce you to that to some extent, but our open borders is a war that is being waged on us. And sadly, we have a United States government under the leadership of a Joe Biden that is participating. And it's sad. So that's going to have to be cut down. I want either that number cut in half, or I want a total moratorium for seven to 10 years. We'll be talking about that after the break. I got some other recommendations that need to happen right away when it comes to the border, if we're going to start saving this country. Isn't it amazing how we've come full circle with the disaster that was the Afghanistan withdrawal, with the Taliban now running Afghanistan, $85 billion approximately in military equipment that we left behind that could be reverse engineered by China, were the Taliban to sell it to China, and let's assume that they did. I mean, it's phenomenal. It's amazing. We wouldn't be in the predicament that we are in were it not for Biden and the Democrats that voted for Joe Biden. And yes, I'm going to say that often. I'm going to say that loudly. If you're wondering what's happening around the world, if you're seeing what appears to be, I mean, the beginning steps, Lord willing, I hope that I'm wrong. I hope this does just end up being a move between Israel and Iran and their proxies in Hamas and Hezbollah. But let's not be naive. There's going to be a lot of leaders around the world that are looking at this decrepit dementia patient that are in the White House and they're saying, now is the time to make my move. And we have to wonder if those moves are not only going to reshift political allies and adversaries around the globe. It's insane. We simply don't know what's going to happen. But I can tell you what we need to do to start protecting our own border and to get ready for the fight. By the way, we'll be sharing as well, if I can get to ways that you need to prepare for a terrorist attack, because it's going to happen. And again, I think there's a war that is already being waged. I want to be clear, an unconventional war of sorts, where the ground troops are amassing their soldiers around us. And we have an administration in the White House that is fully complicit. Either they're stupid or they're complicit. Either way, we're very, very important. There's a piece, too, that I'm going to want to share by Ann Coulter. She wrote a fabulous piece last week. But I do want to get back to this immigration issue, because I believe it's important. Girl, are you a racist? Are you a bigot? No. No. I'm an American. I'm an American. Guys, we're not a nation of immigrants. This diversity, equity, inclusion, bullcrap. We're a nation of diversity. We're strengthened by diversity. That's all bullcrap that a lot of these college elites that have taught many of their students that have come through that don't have real world experience. That's just total bullcrap. All right. I'm sorry. Diversity does not make America stronger. Diversity makes America weaker. Diversity and thought and thinking, sure, where we can debate, go back and forth. That's not what the left is talking about. They love their people groups. They love the LGBTQ barbecue community. They love dividing men and women. You name it. They love dividing people because the left loves chaos. And what happens is, and sadly, we're starting to see this occur within the Republican Party, too. It's gotten so divisive within the Republican Party. I'm not even sure that we can win 2024. A lot of ignoramuses within the Republican Party. I'm so tempted to leave. You cannot believe it. But I'm not even convinced that we want to win 2024, to be frank with you. But said having that, we've gotten so divided, so divided that we're giving the elites exactly what they want. And so I'm like, can we at least unite here? We need to seal up these freaking borders. I'm sorry. I appreciate that there's a lot of people that want to come to America legally, but you're going to have to be punished because of the sins of the Biden administration letting people in illegally. So we've got 1 .1 approximately million people coming into this country. Every year, I want to ramp that back. I want that cut in half or I want a moratorium. And frankly, I would prefer a moratorium on illegal immigration, 7 or 10 years, whatever it takes us to make up this amount. And I want the people that have come in in the last couple of years deported. Full stop. Full stop. All right, for the Ilhan Omar's and all these people that think America is evil, why the hell would you want people to come to this country if it's so evil? Except that there's a plan. I want the visa overstays. They need to be deported. That's something that a lot of people don't consider. But even visa overstays, that's a way in which a lot of people come into this country. They stay in this country. We don't search for them in places like Australia, New Zealand. If you're there on a visa, a work visa of any sort, the day that your visa is up or perhaps the day before, they are knocking at your door, making sure that you're packing and ready to leave. We need to do the same thing. I really don't give a flip what your skills are at this point. I really don't. I really don't. Merit -based job -related reasons. When Trump was in office, this is one of the things that Trump said he wanted to do, unfortunately. And I got to find the quote. He literally said at the time, this is something we could work on after the 2020 election. Unfortunately, the left beat him to it. That is why when you have power, when you're in office, you better use it. You don't wait for jack crap. You use it. You use it. We can never make those mistakes again. The executive orders, great. We need legislation. And you use that power and you twist ankles, you twist knuckles, you twist elbows, you do whatever you got to do to use power. That is the difference between the right and the left. The right is willing to wait for elections, but the left, even when they lose elections, they seem to win because their agenda always moves forward. It's amazing to me. But at the time, Trump said, listen, this merit -based thing, when it comes to job -related reasons, let's grow that right now. 12 % of the people come into this country that's merit -based, job -related reasons. Let's jump that up to 57%. And I do appreciate that. We didn't get it done. We should have gotten it done. Family -based immigration currently makes up two -thirds of all immigration. That would need to decrease sadly, maybe to one -third. And again, I would prefer a moratorium, but at least we got to start somewhere. When it comes to asylum or diversity visas, they would have to be decreased by more than half. Right now, they stand at about 22 % of immigration. That's legal immigration, by the way. That needs to be cut down to 10%, again, with the caveat that I would prefer a full -out moratorium for the next seven to 10 years. It just has to stop. We've learned what diversity is. And unfortunately, what these elites have been telling our children that are going to these elite colleges and universities, and not even just the elites, I don't care if you go to community college nowadays, the stuff that they're teaching in these schools are just loony. I am Morgan. This is... Murph. Hey, everybody. What were you doing? Just before... I mean, we're recording this on a Sunday, because I was tied up all week, and I'll tell you about that in a second, but you were doing something pretty awesome. You sent me a video. Oh, yeah. We got to go to the Orlando Air Show, and the stars were the Air Force Thunderbirds. I haven't seen them since I was a kid. I've seen the Blue Angels several times, but I haven't seen them since I was a kid in Tennessee. But just going to the Air Show just makes you so frickin' proud of our military and what they can do. They had an F -35 there that just... Oh, my gosh. It was a lady pilot, and she had that thing. I mean, she could turn that thing on a dime. She's come through at symphersonic speeds. They didn't break the sound barrier, because they didn't want to hurt everybody's ears, but when she would come through, you know how you get that vapor coming off the jet? Yeah. We got some pictures of that coming through. Then they had the F -18 Super Hornet with those things, screams as well. They brought that thing through at less than 100 miles an hour, and it was kind of almost at a 45 -degree angle, like it was dancing in front of you, and that engine was just screaming, just growling at you. And then the Thunderbirds, twice, you get focused in on the four main diamond formation, and then one of them will sneak up behind you and just scream through at about a bazillion miles an hour and just make you crap your pants. The second time, you know, that's the first time everybody laughs, and then everybody's watching. Well, then all of a sudden, he sneaks in again and gets you a second time, and that one I even ducked when he came through. Tell you what, it makes you think twice. If you want to be a bad guy or girl out there or a terrorist, it's like death from above, man. Oh, my gosh. It just makes you so freaking proud of our military. It really does. I can see why they do that. Yeah. Well, I had an exciting weekend. I wasn't going quite as fast, though. Yeah? No, I did. It's called the Great Pumpkin Ride. I did 64 miles. They had a 24 -49 and a 64, so I did the 64 -mile ride. Where did you have to go for that? Down in Warrenton. So Fauquier County, beautiful. It was a perfect day. Temperatures started out at about 65, went up to 80. It's peak color. It was just beautiful riding through there. It was a fun time. It's been a while because of COVID and everything else. I was supposed to do some century rides, 100 -mile rides. This one's called a metric century. It's 64 miles. But you voluntarily rode 64 miles on a bike? Damn skippy, man. Can you sit down in a regular chair right now? What do you think I'm doing? I'm bouncing around. I'm fun. Hey, it's like anything else. It's like firearms. Anything else. If you just train, you train, you train. So this was fun, though. I just got my bike back. I had it all completely worked over, new gears, the whole work. So it's like this thing was brand new. It was great to go out there and ride. It was fun, though. There's lots of people out there. It's a good time. But what was funny is all these people that you start off, it's like one thing I've learned at my age, it's kind of like no need for speed, man, just steady state. Just keep going. All these young whippersnappers who go flying past you, I ended up passing a lot of them towards the end as they're just dragging ass because they were trying to impress everybody and I'm going steady state. I averaged about 17 miles an hour. It was 2 ,800 feet of climb going down and up. One of the hills, if you're into biking, was 8%. That was a bitch, I'm telling you. And to go through all that and come home with biker's ass. No, I tell you what, I got some good new bibs, you know what they call bibs and stuff. So it's all good anyway, but here we are pontificating about that when we need to get to our facility. But this was just a fun weekend. You had fun. It was.

A highlight from BlockFi CEO and Former Colleague Continue the Crush of SBF's Defense
"Welcome back to The Breakdown with me, NLW. It's a daily podcast on macro, Bitcoin and the big picture power shifts remaking our world. What's going on, guys? And for those of you who are coming into this fresh or who just need a little refresher on what happened last week, the two biggest witnesses in the first full week of the trial were ex FTX co -founder and CTO Gary Wong and Alameda Research CEO at the time of its failure, Caroline Ellison. Now both of these folks were damning to Sam's case in different ways. Gary was bad for Sam because his testimony kind of showed the mechanics of implementing their fraud. He discussed when at various points in the history of FTX, Alameda's very special and privileged relationship with FTX was built into the actual code base. He also showed that it started extremely early, going all the way back to 2019. Now Caroline's testimony was damning because it showed just how much control Sam had over Alameda even after nominally he had stepped down from the CEO role. Her testimony also made him look like just an utter asshole, but of course being an asshole isn't illegal. However, the knowledge and control of Alameda is a different story. So after Caroline finished, the next big witness was Zach Prince of BlockFi. There were a few highlights. Prince said that he believed that Alameda Research was solvent based on the balance sheets that he had seen. According to Prince's testimony, BlockFi began lending money to Alameda in late 2020 on what he recalled to be quote very robust loan agreements. The loans increased in size throughout 2021 after Prince held a conversation directly with Sam. By May 2022, Alameda had loaned over a billion dollars from BlockFi and those loans formed a substantial portion of their outstanding loan book of between five and ten billion dollars. Now the problems began after the collapse of the Terra Luna ecosystem. At that point, BlockFi called in Alameda's loans, which were of course in part due to losses that BlockFi had sustained from the collapse of Luna. Alameda repaid that money after which BlockFi made new loans to the firm worth $850 million. Those new loans were partially collateralized, but Prince said that the collateral was stored on FTX. BlockFi also traded customer funds worth around $350 million on FTX and so in total, Prince claimed that BlockFi lost quote a little over a billion dollars in the collapse of FTX. That loss was enough to force BlockFi into bankruptcy just a few weeks after FTX went down. And while Prince said that at some point BlockFi might have still needed to fold, that without the losses associated with FTX, it was far from a foregone conclusion. Importantly, part of Prince's testimony was used to explain how crypto lenders worked. He noted that BlockFi customers explicitly agreed to their assets to be lent out, drawing a distinction to how FTX dealt with customer assets without their approval. Once again, SPF's defense struggled on cross -examination. At one stage, they spent multiple questions walking through BlockFi's due diligence process surrounding a particular set of loan documents. They appeared to be trying to make the point that the loans evidenced a failure of risk management at BlockFi rather than fraud at Alameda. An exasperated Prince had to remind the defense counsel that the loan documents related to a loan which BlockFi's risk management division had refused to make. Now more than any other testimony that I've seen, it felt to me like when it came to Zach Prince, the reportage inside the room and what the vibe actually felt like, especially to those who were sitting in the jury box, was really different than just reading about it in the transcripts. David Z. Morris, formerly of Coindesk and now reporting on the trial for Protos, wrote, "...one thing about today was that it was clear they were actually f***ing up." Now he expanded on that in a longer thread from Protos, quote, At the end of its second week of flailing, the Sam Bankman -free defense team took another battering today in court. Under questioning from prosecutors, former BlockFi CEO Zach Prince testified that his company would have been unlikely to lend to Alameda Research if its balance sheets had accurately reflected its loans to FTX executives and illicit borrowing from FTX customers. Prince told the jury, I think we wouldn't have worked with them because that's something that's not appropriate. Cross -examining Prince for Bankman -free's defense, Mark Cohen spent about 40 minutes attempting to chip away at that claim by walking Prince through a credit evaluation document. The document showed how BlockFi's risk team evaluated Alameda's balance sheet, specifically examining the risk of using FTX as collateral, in response to Alameda's request for more lending in August of 2021. The defense tried to characterize Prince as having overridden his own risk team in evaluating the loans to Alameda. The real fault, Cohen seemed to imply, lay with anyone stupid enough to trust his client. But after nearly 40 minutes of examining the loan letter, Prince informed Cohen that in fact the loan had not been made, with Prince in fact following the cautious recommendation of his risk team. Later loans were made to Alameda, but against much higher collateral requirements. This appeared to be an attempt to circumvent an earlier ruling by Judge Kaplan that the defense could not argue that weak due diligence was to blame for the failure of investments or loans to FTX group companies. Cohen seemingly hoped to make a similar point about the use of FTTS collateral, but simply didn't have his facts straight. It would not be a stretch to describe the moment as humiliating for the defense. Maybe summing it up even more actually was another tweet from David Morris, where he Today's said, episode is brought to you by Kraken. Next up, on Monday, FTX head of engineering, Nishad Singh, was called by the prosecution to give evidence against his former co -conspirator, SPF. Nishad is, of course, the third of three major collaborators alongside Gary Wong and Caroline Ellison, who are giving testimony under the terms of a plea agreement. Nishad's early testimony dealt with the expenditure and investments made by FTX. He confirmed that Sam was closely involved in directing all big -ticket spending by the firm. Alongside the widely publicized venture investments into Anthropic AI and Genesis Digital Assets, Nishad detailed a $200 million investment into a venture firm known as K5. Nishad said that Sam had attended a dinner hosted by K5, which featured high -profile guests including Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris' husband, Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Kate Hudson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeff Bezos, Kendall Jenner, and Kris Jenner. This was, of course, a party around the Super Bowl. After that K5 dinner, Nishad claimed that Sam said, quote, He was very impressed with their level of connection to influential celebrities and entrepreneurs. He thought it would be useful for FTX to leverage those connections, end quote. Sam later presented Nishad and FTX CTO Gary Wong with a spreadsheet that detailed hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses and an additional billion dollars in venture funding that he wanted to pay to K5 and its owners. Now continuing along this line of questioning, after walking through a number of extravagant outlays, prosecutors asked Nishad about the infamous $30 million Bahamas penthouse where key FTX executives had all lived together. Nishad talked about the group apartment shopping together and noted that they had considered much less expensive residences. He said that after the group inspected the penthouse, quote, Nishad explained that there had been a quote substantial disagreement about if we should go with it, in part because it was really expensive, in part because it's just super ostentatious. Nishad expressed his discomfort to Sam, who said, quote, He would pay $100 million for the drama just to be done with and go away. Nishad took this as a quote, pretty clear sign that I should shut up and we should move forward with this. Now separately, Nishad explained that Alameda accepted customer deposits from the very beginning even before the retail FTX exchange had launched. The earliest project was an over -the -counter trading desk. That system was configured for customer deposits to go to Alameda, which Nishad believed were then forwarded to FTX. Regarding whether Alameda was allowed to use customer funds for its own purposes, Nishad said, I didn't have an affirmative understanding, but using it would break common sense expectations from customers. Nishad then discussed his understanding of the allow negative feature, which allowed Alameda to run a negative balance on FTX and implicitly use customer funds. Nishad explained that he had coded the first version of the feature at the direction of Sam and Gary Wong. He explained that because Alameda withdrew many assets that they didn't hold, those withdrawals were quote, Necessarily coming from other FTX customers. Repeating what we all know, Nishad said that this broke with customers' understanding of Alameda's status on the platform. He said, quote, I remember affirmative descriptions from Sam and others that Alameda didn't have special treatment, and this would constitute a form of special treatment. Nishad also discussed the movement of Alameda's loans to an account where interest wouldn't be charged. He said that Sam was aware of the large amount owed by Alameda to FTX, but said that, quote, In theory, those balances are in banks. It's not something that they're borrowing in sort of the traditional sense. They're custody -ing it, so they shouldn't be charged interest. Let's move as a liability out of a location where it's being charged interest. Another part of the testimony had to do with the infamous FTX liquidation engine. During the height of its popularity, the FTX liquidation engine was spoken about in glowing terms. It was said to be so well constructed that it allowed FTX to seamlessly offer margin loans across multiple assets, which was a feature that was not present on rival exchanges. He said that, quote, Even in instances in which a customer account ended up negative, and the insurance fund, which is a sort of bailout pool of cash, was empty, the expected option for resolving the negative balance would be a clawback, but there was nothing in the code that would do that. Instead, the account would remain negative, and Sam or Gary or others would sort of manually handle it however they saw fit. Essentially, Nishad gave evidence that this fabled liquidation engine didn't actually exist. Then the prosecution moved on to the final months at FTX. Nishad claims that he only found out about the massive hole in Alameda's balance sheet in September once he was asked to help repair it. He said that Sam asked the senior executives to contribute their personal holdings of serum tokens to the balance sheet to, quote, Make it appear that Alameda always had more collateral than it did. This manipulated balance sheet was intended to be given to the CFTC. Nishad said that he ultimately didn't contribute his own tokens because it, quote, Felt wrong to attempt to trick a federal regulator. Nishad also recalled a conversation with Sam on the balcony of the penthouse where Nishad asked what would be done about the hole in Alameda's balance sheet. He claimed that Sam said, quote, I'm not sure what there is to worry about. Net asset value is fantastic by almost any measure. It was super positive even if you don't include FTX and FTX U .S. equity. Nishad burst that bubble by noting that Caroline Ellison and Gary Wong had pointed out that Alameda had borrowed $13 billion and was unable to repay. Sam simply responded, right, that. We're a little short on deliverable. Sam added that the issue had been, quote, Taxing me some 5 to 10 percent of my productivity for this year. Nishad asked Sam, quote, What the hell the plan was? Sam responded with a variety of strategies, including selling off Alameda's illiquid assets, raising more money by selling FTX equity and holding on until FTX U .S. launched futures trading, which he believed would happen, quote, any day now. Nishad asked Sam if he considered cutting expenses, which Sam said he was working on. Nishad said he was, quote, blindsided and horrified. I felt really betrayed that five years of blood, sweat and tears from me and so many employees driving towards something that I thought was a beautiful force for good had turned out to be so evil. I knew that customers were betrayed. So many customers had to put their trust in us. And, you know, according to Sam's take, chances to rebuild this hole depended enormously on me continuing to try to make the company successful. And I knew that would require me betraying customers and employees. During September, while this was all coming out within Sam's inner circle, SBF planned a trip to the Middle East to attempt a long shot to rescue the company. Although the original plan was to put together a fundraising round for the company, Sam instead suggested doing a deal with Telegram. He said that they should buy $120 million worth of TUN tokens, which had been the subject of an SEC enforcement action in 2020, but which we're looking to relaunch. Alongside the investment, Sam had said that FTX engineers could build a payment network that utilized the token. Nishad said the plan, quote, made me extremely nervous. Getting even longer random illiquid tokens was not something I was excited about, especially when the cost would come from customers. Nishad also discussed political donations that had been made in his name. He said that FTX Digital Markets CEO Ryan Salem had access to his bank account for the purpose of making these donations. Nishad said that he was used to make donations, quote, for optics, advantageous that it was useful for my name to be associated with some donations, even if the end recipient understood they were really coming from someone else. Now, many people have pointed out that if the organizations or individual politicians accepting these donations knew they were coming from someone else, that would be extremely problematic for them. Finally, to close out the day, Nishad described work he had done to manipulate revenue data for FTX. He said that at the end of 2021, he had, quote, made transfers from one of Sam's companies to another to FTX to make it appear as though FTX had higher revenues. Prior to this, FTX had recorded around 950 million dollars in revenue for the year. Unsatisfied, Sam instructed Nishad to make these transactions to ensure that FTX hit a billion dollars in revenue for the year. The particular change was that Sam decided to charge his other company for staking serum tokens. Nishad said that he was instructed to backdate the transactions to make it appear that they had been charged throughout the year. Now, in addition to all these details, the other aspect of this testimony was sort of as a check on Sam's character. Sam had explained that he was friends with Sam's brother from high school and that Nishad had initially felt intimidated by Sam, who he viewed as a, quote, formidable and brilliant person. Nishad said, I had a lot of admiration and respect for him, but over time that eroded. Now, yesterday, Nishad faced cross -examination. And once again, it was not really that effective. A Slate article on Monday characterized the cross -examination so far like this. The cross -examinations have rarely, if ever, directly rebutted the government's severe allegations, which encompass wire fraud, money laundering and five conspiracy counts related to securities and commodities fraud, among others. More often, the attorneys repeat simple questions on matters the prosecution has already established before building their way up to potential conclusions that never seem to land. That characterization sort of held up here with Nishad. Matthew Russell Lee at Inner City Press on Twitter, who I can't recommend highly enough for the play -by -play coverage, characterized the cross -examination as meandering. Now, that said, Coindesk did write a piece yesterday called, for once, Bankman Fried's Lawyer Lands a Punch. The lead of that story is, Nishad Singh, a member of Sam Bankman Fried's inner circle, couldn't quite remember what he had told prosecutors about his conversation with the fallen cryptocurrency mogul and other FTX executives he said Tuesday in response to questioning from SPF's lawyers. The former Bankman Fried confidant's admission marked the first time since the trial began two weeks ago that the defense had seemingly managed to poke a hole in the case against their client, whose empire crumbled nearly a year ago. I think reflecting on what this testimony did for the prosecution, in many ways, it was similar to Caroline Ellison. In the same way, at one point, Caroline finally broke down and really gave the impression of a person who had been wracked by guilt with their knowledge of the things that they were doing. Nishad, too, sort of acted as a voice of consciousness in that he clearly had guilt around what he was doing, even if he continued to do it. You basically have this situation where everyone around SPF who knows about all these things that are going on is getting increasingly uncomfortable with the brazenness of them and yet is compelled or pressured by Sam to continue and just stop worrying about it. It really reinforces the idea that there was at the center of this story a central, dominant ringleader, which, of course, isn't really good for the defense. Now, the next big question is whether SPF himself is going to go on the stand in his own defense. There are hints that he might. In a Sunday night filing, Sam's defense team reiterated their request for better access to Adderall for their client. The defense claimed that Sam has been receiving a single dose before leaving jail on the mornings of court appearances. They claim this dose wears off by the time the trial begins each day, meaning that Sam has been unable to, quote, concentrate at the level he ordinarily would and that he would not be able to meaningfully participate in the presentation of the defense case. Their letter to the judge said that this lack of Adderall could play a critical role in determining, quote, the critical decision of whether Mr. Bankman -Fried will testify. Many commentators have taken the position that the defense has been floundering so far. They've struggled to discredit witnesses or present a coherent case during cross -examination. In fact, their performance has been so bad that some are beginning to wonder if the plan is to set up an appeal on procedural grounds. Alongside the practical issues with receiving adequate medication, in this letter, the defense have flagged one of the grounds for an eventual appeal. The idea that throughout the process, Sam has been denied his right to, quote, meaningfully participate in his defense. Investor Adam Cochrane certainly thinks that this is the gambit. He writes, PS, they don't actually give an F about his meds. They care about throwing out the trial. Vegan meals, lacking meds, weird medical hours. They'll probably try and claim some mental duress violating his right to compulsory process and self -defense. Does it work? Unlikely. But they want you to pity him. They want the jury to pity him. They want to throw every wrench they can into the gears of justice and grind it to a halt. Now, others were speculating about whether Sam could actually resist the lore of testifying in his own defense. Delphi Digital General Counsel Gabriel Shapiro wrote, imagine how epic it will be if SPF actually testifies. He could not even withstand cross -examination by Coffeezilla. Prosecutors will absolutely shred him on cross. Let's just hope he can be that stupid and narcissistic to give us one last show before he's put away for good. Of course, if Sam does make that last Hail Mary decision, you better believe we will be there to cover it. For now, that is going to do it for today's episode. A highlight from SBF Trial, Day 9: Nishad Singh Describes Former FTX CEO as a Bully and Big Spender

Thanks for tuning in to the Unchained Recap for Day 9 of the criminal trial for Sam Bigman -Fried. In devastating testimony for the defense, former FTX head of engineering Nishad Singh detailed instances of bullying behavior from ex -CEO Sam Bigman -Fried and numerous times when SPF used customer funds to fuel his spending spree. Singh described an organization that allegedly defrauded FTX customers by freely spending customer assets on ill -advised investments, sponsorships, and political action, all at Bankman -Fried's direction, and a leadership style that browbeat and belittled anyone who disagreed with him or expressed concerns. Singh's testimony echoed comments by the prosecution's other two star witnesses during the first two weeks, former Alameda CEO Caroline Ellison and former FTX chief technology officer Gary Wong. I was blindsided and horrified. I felt really betrayed. That five years of blood, sweat, and tears from me and so many employees driving towards something that I thought was a beautiful force for good had turned out to be so evil, Singh said. I knew that customers were betrayed. So many customers had to put their trust in us. Singh, who came across as earnest and is having a strong conscience, told jurors that SPF continued to spend excessively even after learning of an $8 billion hole in Alameda's balance sheet that mushroomed as the crypto market slumped following the collapse of the I deficit. learned of the hole and even after that, implicitly and explicitly, I greenlit transactions that I knew must have been digging the hole deeper and therefore coming from customer funds, Singh said. Singh, who was Bankman -Fried's younger brother's friend and had known SPF since high school, was initially intimidated by the defendant after joining Alameda in 2017. But he lost faith in SPF amid his dismissiveness and seeming dishonesty to where company's financial management. I had a lot of admiration and respect for him, Singh said. Over time, I think a lot of that eroded, and I grew distrustful. Singh described his increasing concern about Bankman -Fried's spending even as the company sank deeper into debt. I'd frequently go to Sam and express that I thought that the spend was too large or that it didn't make sense, in essence, a bad business decision. And I also would express that I felt kind of embarrassed and ashamed of how much it all reeked of excess and flashiness. It didn't align with what I thought we were building a company for. Some examples of the excess were that Alameda had invested $1 .5 billion into Bitcoin miner Genesis digital assets in early 2022, as well as $500 million into AI startup Anthropic and $200 million into incubation firm K5, founded by Michael Kives. The K5 deal accelerated after SPF attended a Super Bowl -related party in Los Angeles with several top A -list celebrities. Hillary Clinton, Doug Emhoff, Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Kate Hudson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeff Bezos, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, Kendall Jenner, Kris Jenner, and Corey Gamble. Singh said SPF described the event as, quote, the most impressive collection of people he had ever seen in one location, adding that the FTX co -founder told him that if asked, K5 could probably arrange an FTX dinner with Elon Musk, former President Barack Obama, Rihanna, and Mark Zuckerberg in a month. When Singh saw the term sheet with K5, which proposed hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses to Kives and his partner Brian Baum, as well as $1 billion for their VC firm, he was shocked. Quote, I was worried that partnering with K5 and giving them this much money would be really toxic to FTX and Alameda culture, that every day I was actively trying to espouse, I felt we all were, that politicking and social climbing was not going to be rewarded. And here we were rewarding people in exorbitant amounts, Singh said. He added that he asked SPF to use his own personal money for the deal so that it wouldn't affect the culture of FTX. Singh also detailed his shock at the $1 .1 billion FTX spent on sponsorships, such as the naming rights for the Miami Heat basketball arena and endorsements from top celebrities, including Steph Curry, Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen, and Larry David. He was also uncomfortable with the spending on real estate. For instance, before they moved into their luxury penthouse apartment, Bigman Fried and his future roommates argued over where to live. The group had initially chosen a more modest apartment, but SPF wanted to check out the penthouse. Quote, Sam really liked this one, Singh said. Sam's a fan of views, and there was substantial disagreement about if we should go with it, in part because it was really expensive, in part because it's super ostentatious. When discussing it with SPF, Singh said, quote, Sam said that he would pay $100 million for the drama to just be done with and go away, which I took as a pretty clear sign that I should shut up. In September 2022, Singh had a discussion with the defendant about the lack of collateral Alameda had to support its futures trading. Singh determined that Alameda was short $10 billion of what was needed to support its trading positions and relied on its $65 billion line of credit to make up for this multi -billion dollar deficit. Bigman Fried instructed Singh to transfer SPF's Ellison's and Wong's personal SRM tokens, which were locked, and therefore illiquid, into Alameda's main trading account. Singh said the transfer was meant to fool the CFTC, or US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, by making it seem as if Alameda had posted more collateral than it had. Singh did not execute the transfer, saying that it felt wrong. He said, quote, I was fine giving up my personal assets. I'd taken on debts and given up my assets for the company countless times. But I understood the purpose of this exercise was to be, you know, to fool a US regulator and to fool employees of the company. And I wasn't comfortable doing that. Singh, who was freaking out about the possibility that FTX would be unable to meet customer withdrawals, had an evening talk with the defendant in the fall of 2022 on the palatial balcony of their luxurious apartment, which featured a swimming pool and several lounge chairs. In this talk, Singh said he was worried about Alameda's NAV, which was his euphemism for the hole, and Bigman Fried responded, quote, I'm not sure what there is to worry about. NAV is fantastic by almost any measure. When Singh asked how much Alameda was short by, SPF said, quote, that is the wrong question to be asking, and then proceeded to talk about how much he could deliver within various timeframes. Around $5 billion in 24 hours, substantially more in several weeks. And after that, quote, again, substantially more. At some point, Singh said, Jesus fucking Christ. And Bigman Fried said that his shortcoming of several billion dollars had been taxing him about 5 to 10 percent of his productivity. While Singh responded, he thought it would hit him a lot harder. The prosecutor asked Singh why he didn't leave FTX. He said he considered leaving the company every day, but added, quote, how could I live with myself if my departure precipitated a fall that might have been unavoidable? Singh details how he tried to cut costs of the company and said that at first he was, quote, pleasantly surprised and felt he was able to cut a couple hundred million dollars in spend. But further conversations with SPF made him realize that what Singh felt was, quote, an obligation was, quote, not being taken seriously since SPF was unwilling to cut endorsement and sponsorship deals that meant another $1 billion was, quote, headed out the door. After SPF returned from his Middle East fundraising trip, Singh, who so rarely met with a former FTX CEO one -on -one, said that it was an annual occurrence, met with him privately again, this time in one of Sam's apartments. After beginning by stating he was not doing well and thinking of quitting, Singh asked SPF how it was going with NAV. SPF, who was standing in the kitchen with his back against the fridge, said he could raise anywhere from $0 to $5 billion. He told Singh the main plan was to make FTX a success and said to Singh, quote, that depends a huge part on you. You're one of the few people, Nishad, that can take that kind of work off my plate so I can focus on the rest of this. Singh admitted he had been afraid to ask SPF for the meeting and said that he felt the defendant was, quote, very mad and that the meeting was tense with, quote, long periods of silence. Then he listed some of what he called Sam's tells for when he's upset and how SPF showed them in this conversation. Quote, puffed out his chest, hands back. He was grinding his finger, closing his eyes, grinding his teeth or tongue in his mouth. And when he opened them to respond, he would sort of glare at me with some intensity. I ended up apologizing to him at the end for asking for the meeting because I could tell it was so unwelcome. Singh pleaded guilty to charges related to violating campaign finance laws, which involved letting donations be made at his name even though they were funded from Alameda or as a borrower from FTX. Some of these loans were used for Bank One Three's political donation campaign and to fund his brother's political action committee, guarding against pandemics. Additionally, he said he participated in falsifying and backdating FTX's 2021 revenue numbers for auditors. SPF wanted FTX's revenue, which stood at 950 million dollars for the year, to be one billion dollars because FTX's revenue would show up on a spreadsheet that would be presented to investors. SPF proposed creating fake revenue backdated throughout the year from charging for offering staking services of serum. When withdrawals began to accelerate on November 5th, Singh became, quote, concerned that this might spell doom and the end of our fraud. Since he knew customers who expected full access to their assets did not know that they were not backed. Although Singh seemed to have a strong sense of right and wrong, even he ended up doing things he wasn't proud of. Around this time, he sent SPF a signal message asking if he could, quote, make some fictitious transactions that it looks like I had paid off this amount that I owed. Singh explained that he meant backdated transactions, which was, quote, something I knew could be done because Sam had proposed it once to me in other contexts. Singh acknowledged this, quote, felt wrong and said he wasn't trying to excuse himself, but said, quote, I was in different levels of having a right mind throughout these days. On November 6th, he said a war room meeting gathered in one of Bankman -Fried's apartments. It was attended by Singh, SPF, Ellison, Wong, Romnick Aurora, and by phone, head of FTX Digital Markets, Ryan Salem, who all were workshopping a draft tweet thread by Bankman -Fried. Quote, there was a point when they were discussing whether or not to characterize FTX as solvent or well -capitalized. I felt very uncomfortable with both definitions, Singh said. I felt neither was true. Singh leaned over the couch to say something like, quote, I'm not comfortable with this. I'm recusing myself. He testified. They acknowledged in a kind of annoyed way and proceeded. Singh had wanted to halt withdrawals rather than make a statement about FTX's strength. He said, quote, I'd overheard in the conversation opinions that these tweets should be really strong, which I understood to be a euphemism for particularly misleading in such a way that will quell fears definitively. On November 8th, via signal chat, Singh and Bankman -Fried discussed the fact that lawyer Dan Friedberg was angry and that Salem might resign. Singh then wrote, quote, they may need to know that it wasn't a ton of people orchestrating it. In testimony, Singh explained, quote, I really wanted Sam to clarify what everyone's role in this fraud was. I wanted him to clarify that I wasn't orchestrating it and that I learned about it really late. I wanted Sam to clarify that he was orchestrating it. I was certainly guilty for participating in it since September, but don't feel I made the whole. And secondly, I wanted the state of my relationship with these people I loved and tried to do right by, to remain intact and for them to not hate me. It was during this part of his testimony that Singh revealed he had been, quote, suicidal for days shortly after his direct testimony ended, meaning that Tuesday morning he will face his cross -examination. Former FTX CEO Sam Bankman -Fried has traded his palatial Bahamas bunker for a bunk bed as he transitions from lux to lockup. Bankman -Fried is staying at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, one of the nation's most notorious correctional facilities. Conditions at the jailhouse where Bankman -Fried has resided for six weeks since losing his bail are a far cry from the former billionaire's old Caribbean stomping grounds. The internet is slow, the living quarters dirty and the cafeteria offering slim, his lawyers have argued. He is subsisting on bread and water, sometimes peanut butter, the defense told a federal judge last month. Former residents of the famous facility and their lawyers, however, have said there's much more to tell about the notorious lockup. They've likened conditions at the jailhouse to those faced by prisoners of war and Hannibal Lecter in the horror movie The Silence of the Lambs. But what's MDC really like on the inside? Here's what we know about the infamous detention center. MDC Brooklyn is a large prison complex encompassing two buildings and housing more than 1 ,600 male and female prisoners, many of whom still await trial. As a mixed security facility, the MDC houses inmates with a variety of criminal histories, including terrorism, organized crime and drug smuggling. A report from the Bureau of Prisons shows current inmates include Juan Orlando Hernandez, a former president of Honduras, who has pleaded not guilty to drug trafficking charges, and Guo Wengui, a Chinese businessman who has pleaded not guilty to fraud charges. Others who have previously served short stints at the jailhouse include Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell and pharma bro Martin Shkreli. Bankman -Fried likely has a rigid schedule at MDC. Inmates wake up at 6 a .m. and must make their beds, mop the floor and tend to their trash. An orientation handbook from the facility shows. From there, inmates like Bankman -Fried might go to work around the facility, serving as prep cooks in the jail's kitchen, providing janitorial services throughout the complex, or assisting at the facility's maintenance shop. At 11 a .m., they eat lunch. Dinner is served at 4 p .m. Meals are supposed to consist of a meat such as turkey, a starch like rice and a vegetable or fruit, but prisoners are actually served cold cuts, sandwich bread, moldy pound cakes and other unidentifiable foods from the kitchen, according to a petition on Change .org. If Bankman -Fried, a vegan, doesn't like what's offered at the cafeteria, he can use his $150 weekly commissary allowance to buy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, worth $3 .65 each. He can buy up to two of those per day, according to the complex's rules. In between meals and work, inmates are allowed breaks. However, there's no prison yard for recreational activities at MDC. Instead, Bankman -Fried will have to hang out with his fellow inmates in indoor community rooms, where they can play cards, talk and watch television. Bankman -Fried can also take showers during his downtime in one of five separate individual shower stalls, according to former inmates. However, lines to use the showers are often long. At the end of each day, Bankman -Fried may retire to a communal dorm with rows of bunk beds, according to former prisoners' accounts. However, it's also possible he has been put in protective custody and has his own cell. Either way, getting some shut eye may not be easy. Fluorescent lights keep the dorm and other rooms across the jailhouse semi -lit 24 hours a day. Inmates' writings show. In addition, inmates can often be heard shouting across cell blocks at all hours of the night, former prisoners have said. Uncomfortable heat and cold is another potential issue Bankman -Fried may encounter during his stay at MDC Bankman -Fried in Brooklyn. According to several local news reports, many parts of the MDC lack heating and air conditioning units are sparse throughout much of the facility. Want to follow along? I'm black, and that's just how we're going to start. We're going to start there. My are roots Pentecostal. Pentecostal is like a fraternity or something. They'd be like, that's my dog. It's not a frat, but I was going to use a headset today so I could dribble with my left hand, but I woke up feeling preachy, so I told them, give me a handheld, because we about to go up Elevation. I love Pastor Steven. He is a songwriter. He is an architect, and he is the greatest communicator in the world. To be on his platform is beyond a blessing, but something funny happened to me. I told myself that I would be validated as a good preacher when he invited me. Let me tell you how gracious God is. He refused to allow me to be invited as long as I believed that, because when heaven wants to affirm you, it doesn't use opportunity, it uses opposition. I know you're anointed not by the stages, but by the scars that you got. I need you to high -five your neighbor like you in Ballantyne and tell them, I know I'm anointed. The struggles that you overcome reveal your anointing. We know that the oil on David worked not from the throne he sat on, but by the giant that fell at his feet, and if open doors can make you, then closed doors can break you. Quit waiting on man to validate you. I'm afraid that in our churches, heaven believes in us, and I'm going to tell you something you never heard before, hell believes in you. This is why the devil and all his imps and wimps have been coming against you, because he know how much you carry. He doesn't bother you if you're not a threat, but if the devil has been trying to come against you and your family and your neighborhood, I need you to give God ten seconds of praise like you know no weapon formed against you. Shall prosper. Come on, praise him like you're an overcomer. Praise him like the battle's already over. I'm not praising him for a victory. I'm praising him from a place of victory. In Jesus' name. In Jesus' name. And so I have a very prophetic word for elevation. It's really for the Columbia campus. Because they up the street from me. They're all on the ground, but my wife is a dying piece on the front row. I love you. Mark 10, 46. Then they came to Jericho. I teach at Ford City that you can't just read the Bible. Oh, snap, you've got to read the Bible. It's the second read. Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with the large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus, which means son of Timaeus, was sitting on the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me. Many rebuked him. Don't you hate when you're sitting next to the loud one? You're like, okay, I get it. You grateful. I am too, but my God. They told him, be quiet, fam. Jesus. You ever brought your mama to church? I said, mama, I'm preaching at Elevation. Do not come. My mom be tearing the whole row up in the back. I said, be quiet, man. But he shouted all the more. I love that. Son of David, have mercy on me. I really want to preach this next verse, but I got something else to preach. But the next verse says, Jesus, stop. Whoo. There is a DB, if you're into audio. There is a frequency. There is a shout that is packed with enough desperation to get a busy Jesus, a focused Jesus to stop. Oh my God. Are there any praises in the room that know how to get him to stop by? Come on, the only reason I'm in church today is because he stopped by. The only reason I'm in my right mind is because he stopped. The only reason I didn't cut somebody this week is because he stopped by. He stopped by, he stopped by, he stopped by. When he stops, anything is possible. Who am I to deny what the Lord can do? Whatever's impossible for you is easy for him when he stops by. All right, let's keep reading. You ready to sit down. He stopped by and said, call him. I like that. So they called the blind man. Cheer up! On your feet, he's calling you. Now the way my imagination works, I wonder if these are the same people who just told him to hush. That's why you can't listen to people. One second they saying hush, next second they saying cheer up! Cuz, what do you want from me, dog? I mean, throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet, came to Jesus. Here's Jesus. Jesus is really funny. He said, hey, what do you want me to do for you? Blind man's like, ah, let me see. He said, Rabbi, I wanna see, man. I like this. Go, Jesus said. has Your faith healed you. Your shout has healed you. Your resilience has healed you. Somebody, it took your last 20 to get to church today. That's the thing that healed you. The fact that you believed in spite of what you were facing. And the Bible says, I like this word, immediately. I feel it coming, all of a sudden. Immediately. This ain't for everybody. This is just for 50 people and a two year old that can give them a praise and say, that thing about to happen quicker than you can even imagine, immediately. Immediately. He received his sight, followed Jesus along the road. How did I get here? Lord Jesus, I'm gonna pray a prayer. You ready? How did we get here? Amen. You can take your seats. All right, how did I get here? How did I get here? How did I get here? This past week, I went to North Myrtle Beach. That's where my dad is buried, where my mom is from. And we went there to visit my grandma. My grandma is 92 years old. Yeah, yeah. Her classmate was Harriet Tubman. My grandma is so old. She's seen many presidents. And I walk in and my grandma, she's like Isaac. Her sight is fell on her because she's up in age. And she's sitting there with her snuff. You're not from the country if you don't know what snuff is. No teeth, but snuff. I say, my grandma had 14 kids, y 'all. After 10, you don't even feel them no more. There's another child. They just, she got 14 over 40 grandkids. And I walk in and I'm like, grandma. And she's like, whoa, who's that? Get over here. And I go over to her and I say, grandma, it's me. And I can't talk, y 'all. I got speech impediment if you laugh. You laughed and that was not a joke. She's like, ah, I thought it was just me. And my speech marks me. So my grandma, she knew it. And she was like, try this. That's you. I spent some time with her. Something about when your sight is felling, your senses are heightened. And what's interesting about this text, I learned this from Pastor Furtick. You preach every line in the text. So the first thing I want to acknowledge in this text is that the blind man is in Jericho. The word Jericho means fragrance or to smell. Isn't it interesting that he's blind, but he can still smell the roses? So I want to tell you, don't allow your low place that calls you to miss the beauty of the season you're in. He's in Jericho. This is not a mountaintop message. Because most of the people who are asking, how did I get here, aren't on top. You feel like you're at the bottom. You're asking, how did this happen to me? How did I get here? My last great memory was a wedding photo and now I'm a widow. That was my mom at the age of 29 when my dad died on a Sunday morning. I was five years old. How did I get here? How did I get in the back of this police car? How did I get in divorce court? Come on, y 'all, don't look at me in that tone of voice. How did I get here? My life was heading in one direction and then one decision, one thing caused me to get into an uncertain, unfamiliar, and unexpected place. How did I get here? How did I get here? How did I get addicted? How did this happen to my child? How did I get here? And you may think, you may be sitting here thinking like, man, my situation's rough. Listen to me, your situation cannot compare to being blind in the first century.

I know, I can always risk peeing in the closet in the middle of the night because you thought it's a hotel room. I don't know where I am, I'm walking around stumbling, and boy do I have a hotel story. Oh, well, hey, well, sit tight because there's another reason I'm doing this. Hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on. Because obviously you are back in the Florida compound, correct? I'm in, no, I'm in Orlando. Okay, well, see, my point is made, but the road trip I wanted to take, because for like three days I wanted to get to this, and doggone it, I'm doing it up front. Just take two minutes. You heard about the Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm's all -electric road trip? They were just trying to get from North Carolina to Tennessee, and they had NPR embedded because it's just going to be so great. Oh, look at this. It's the all -EV road trip, well, instantly, and Trump has the best line, Trump has the best line. When you get an electric car, the first 15 minutes are great, and the next five years are abject terror that you're going to run out of places to charge, and that's exactly what happened to them. So with the caravan coming, and the secretary, her own self, had not yet rolled up in her about -to -die EV, they blocked off a charging station with a gas -powered car. The one that was actually, and there was a family that was about dead on power, and it's 100 degrees, and they got a kid in the back, and they called the cops because Secretary Granholm's entourage was blocking the EV station. I'm not an anti -electric car, you've had a Tesla in your life, haven't you? I have, and listen, first of all, Tesla, you'll have more fun driving a Tesla than any car you've ever driven in your life. And the idea of plugging in and, hey, lessening our reliance on fossil fuels, but again, what happens is when we get down to mandates, and when you get down to saying, you're going to do this or else, I've got a friend who travels around the country in a Tesla. And so that whole story about what she went through, I knew firsthand from a very good friend of mine, because he goes from city to city to city, and he takes his Tesla. And he sometimes drives 6, 8, 10 hours on a stretch. And it ain't easy. I mean, now, he pulls it off. You know, Tesla's got a pretty fascinating technology. You look on your screen, they tell you exactly where the charging station is, they show you how many people are at the charging station, they tell you how many slots are available, if they're all used, you know right away in real time. They know how many people are at a charging station 40 miles away. They do. They know how many people are at the charging station all over the country right now. And you can look on your Tesla screen, and you say, you push Charger, and it'll show you where the next station is or the charging station on your route. Now, here's where it gets dicey. Tesla has now opened it up to Ford and all these other auto manufacturers. So now there's all kinds of competition. Yeah, but now, if you're a Tesla owner, you're going to battle all the Ford companies. Hey, can I tell you a little bit about a travel quick story, because I know I've got to pick your brain. And then we've got to talk Mitt Romney, because I want to talk to you from Mitt Romney. I've never seen a bigger disconnect within the Republican Party in my life, in my life. But first, before we do that, so here I am again in another hotel last night, and I always joke about peeing in the closet because I don't know where I am, and I'm walking around. I mean, honest to goodness, it is a very strange feeling to wake up and you don't know where you are. And it's been, I've had about nine or 10 days from New York to Philly to Orlando. I finally get home tomorrow just in time to have my wisdom tooth removed. It's travel stories and medical stories. Oh, yeah. And I predict there'll be medical complications. There always are. I predict, so I'm having major surgery, light a candle for me, pray I need some Gregorian chance. I know, because you know how I am. As Denise would say, I'm not exactly the world's best patient. So I'm not really good when things go like, and so I don't know. And I don't remember when I've got to stop eating. The surgery is tomorrow at like one o 'clock, the night before, right? Like midnight? Oh, well, that's 12, yeah, midnight before midnight. They told me, but I can't remember what they told me. And I'm afraid now I'm going to mess that up and then I'm going to Joan Rivers on the operating table. You'll have a burger in your system somewhere and you'll flatline. And then I'll flatline because I had a cheeseburger past the deadline. So anyway, so all this is going on in my life and I'm trying to keep my head above water. I check into the hotel last night and I'm tired and the flight was late. I'm blah, blah, blah, blah. I get to Orlando. First of all, here's a quick story about Orlando Airport. Now, have you and Lisa and the kids made the pilgrimage that every American family has made to Disney? And you go fly into Orlando and you get into that beautiful airport and you got to get on the train to get from the terminal to the main part of the airport. Do you know that experience I'm talking about? Yes, we have. It's been a long time, but yes, we have. So Phil Boyce, our big boss, my boss flew into Orlando last night at midnight. He claims, and I've got Derek Klingle, my producer, researching this. He claims that all throughout the Orlando Airport are homeless encampments. Homeless people are sleeping all throughout the Orlando Airport. And I said, Phil, are you sure those aren't like travelers? Yeah, I was going to say, I've seen some people who've been stuck, especially with the way today's Pete Buttigieg Airlines are going, flights are a dicey proposition. Maybe that's just a wayward, ill -dressed traveler. I'm going to find out because Phil insisted. He said, nope, these people had like little blankets and tents and supplies and provisions. He goes, I think they're opening up the airport at night because he goes in and, you know, Phil goes in and out of the airport all the time. Sure. He said, I've never seen this before. He said, I think these are homeless people in the airport. Now we've seen blue cities around the country that are opening up police stations. Yeah, blue cities. Notify DeSantis immediately. No kidding. I want to look into this big time. And so that's part one of the travel story of Orlando. Part two, I need to ask you if I'm being Karen or not. I want to know what your reaction would be if you check into a hotel, 10, 11 o 'clock at night, you're tired, you're grumpy, you get into the room, you pay extra because it's supposed to be like a club level room at a big major chain. Air conditioner doesn't work properly. I go over to sit down and watch forensic files to try to decompress the couch. I wouldn't touch that couch. It was so filthy dirty bio biohazard. I took pictures of the couch. I took pictures of it and then I get in the shower this morning and they don't have any bars of soap, which makes me crazy. It's all these tubes, you know, the containers of liquid. Well, dude, okay, the worm has turned on that one. We now want, we apparently want, and I've noticed the same thing. We have gel in tubes, you know, you spooge that out in your hand because that way no previous person is touching the soap. The bar of soap is so 1953 because who touched that before you? I don't mean another guest. No, but they're wrapped up. They're wrapped. The bars of soap are normally wrapped. But once it's open, let's see, you've got a family of three. Family four, family five, whatever. You leave the bar on the tray or whatever, then somebody else has to go touch the bar you touch. I don't think I would care, but other people do. So the soap in the tube is sort of where we are. I'm a family of one and all I got to do is open. I want a, I want a sealed bar of soap that I can put on anyway, but how about when the tube of the body wash is empty, so you're standing there, oh yeah, it was empty. So that's my hotel experience. Where are you, listen, good chains can have a bad day, but I'm guessing, I mean, not four seasons, but you know, kind of a month, 226 bucks for the night. That's not a cheap hotel room.

Doug, thank you for having me here. I appreciate it. Well, we're going to be talking about some topics that we don't get to talk about often around here at TR. We've been talking a lot about cybersecurity and migration, digital migration, and so on. We're going to be talking about talent and some other sort of more human issues for a change. We're also going to be talking a little bit about IT by Design and IT by Design's big upcoming event in Orlando. So, Sunny, let's just step right into that. First of all, what is IT by Design? Yeah, Doug, thanks for that question. IT by Design is a master MSP. So we provide NOC services to MSPs in the channel, like in all English speaking countries. So we have a global service delivery capability where MSPs come to us when they want to scale with profitability, they want to grow with the profitability. The biggest barrier is tech talent. And we call it internally a tech factory. So IT by Design became a tech factory for tech talent factory for MSPs where we can build teams for them in terms of pods, or we can really the way they deliver NOC services. So they, they give the remote portion of the NOC service to us, which we cover 24 seven for them. So in a simple way, simple way to look at this is that whenever MSPs have talent struggles in terms of attracting talent, hiring, training, retaining, or the cost becomes a major barrier to their growth and profitability, they leverage IT by Design as their strategic partner to get tech talent from us, we can, we put together dedicated tech teams for them that become extension of their team. Or they just give us number of devices as any, I want my thousand servers, 500 firewalls, 200 servers to be managed remotely 24 seven. So we become their 24 seven help desk, we become their 24 seven NOC service. So that's it by design. And the event that you just was referring to is called build it. It's right here. So which is our community building initiative as part of the channel, giving back to the channel. So we put together this MSP conference once a once a year, this year is in Orlando, on September 18th, 19th, and 20th, where MSPs come to learn grow, do kind of a lot of M &A conversations to all future business models conversations. So that's happening in Orlando in September, where MSPs come to learn network, just like a typical in any other conference, but our conference have so much uniqueness in terms of the quality of the content, the thought leaders that we bring in Disney Institute in Disney Institute, Doug will be doing customer experience and leadership. So a lot of our conference focuses on talent, in terms of leadership development, in terms of talking about the technology managers services, new models, and a lot of emphasis on on leadership. So owners, C level executives, executives, where they want to learn business, they want to learn how to build a scale their business, how to grow organically, how to grow with their M &A strategy. So you are sitting here in a very humble studio, I hope you are feeling comfortable and good, whether it is cold outside, it is good, probably a good time to maybe do barbeque, a lot of people maybe do barbeque because it is Sunday today and you have been doing this for 15 years, isn't it enough of barbeque right now, you still going to continue? Yeah, we are just getting on a good roll right now, we are actually at the restaurant, we are in year 10 right now, but I had 5 years prior doing outside stuff. The question was, you know, if you still like it. I still like it, I love barbeque. That is good, let's just tell everybody what is the name of your restaurant, where you are located, so we can start with that and let's just roll. We are at the Black Eyed Pig Barbeque, it is 5307 Shirley Street in Naples, just off Pine Ridge Road between Airport or Naples Boulevard and Goodlett Road. It is hard to find, so you guys have to get on that road and it is a very short distance from Pine Ridge and you will see from a long way the pig eye, the design on the building. So it is barbeque with a big pig face. Yeah, it is a very inviting pig face. I wanted a big pig to put on top, but they won't let me do that. Oh really? Yeah. But you can smell it from a long distance. Yes. All right, you end up in Naples when? When did you come here? 2001, came down from the Orlando area. Oh really? So you lived in Orlando before? I did, I came to Orlando in 1986 with the Olive Garden. Oh really? So I didn't even know that. I know you for a long time, I didn't know you were in the Olive Garden. I was with the Ruby Tuesday prior for four years and came with the Olive Garden in 1986 to Orlando when they had four restaurants I think. So there is a long way, you are the expert in restaurants, you picked up a lot of practice there. Yeah, I've had a lot of practice closing restaurants and opening restaurants and lots of employees. So you know how to do it? Yes, absolutely. And you know there is a reason for probably keep it on the size you have it because it's very limited on seating, it's very limited with employees, so you can focus on the quality and there is probably, the end is, you've been voted, as many people say, the best barbecue in Naples, so what is the special on that? Well, we decided in the beginning, the building was a breakfast lunch restaurant when we bought it and I've never been open for dinner, so we started opening lunch and dinner and we got rid of everything that we don't do, we got rid of salads, so we're basically just barbecue. If you smoke it, we got, so we just sell what we do. We don't try to be everything to everybody, we do barbecue, that's it. That is very simple? Yes. And you do the hot sauces? Everything is yours? Homemade sauce. Recipes? Everything. Really? I just have to tell everybody who is listening right now, we don't talk ordinary barbecue one like you can buy in the Costco and you roll it out at your parking lot, load it in your SUV, this is serious business. Your barbecue is probably 10 times maybe more bigger, now you bought another little barbecue I would say, right? Specialty built for you, for your business? Yeah, we've got a competition smoker now that we're going to start with this spring, but we use it on a lot of caterings. But going back to the recipes, I've got a great friend of mine who I met here in my first business venture here in town, which is a little bar, he's from Oklahoma and his family has been in business since 1930 in the barbecue business. So a lot of my recipes came from him, so they're well tested, they've been there 85, the one on 88 years now. So, would you say this is like Saturn taste or what is this exactly? Well, Oklahoma, it's a dry rub, everything's dry rub and hickory smoke. Never baked, never boiled, it's just smoked. How many hours do you have to smoke like ribs? Ribs are around three and a half to four hours depending on the size. We do baby backs and St. Louis as well. St. Louis are the ones that came out of Oklahoma, we kind of threw the baby backs in for the East Coast kind of people. And what's the best seller? They sell about equal, we sell a couple of hundred racks of each a week, we have 35 seats, so we stay pretty busy. I think you did really well when bikers start showing up because they love the type of food and I think there's always a lot of bikes on your parking spaces. There's a lot of bikes, there's a lot of guys, golf outings, we always get the guys, we're a big guy hanging out for lunch and then they all bring their wives at dinner. Okay good, so you do what, I mean you do pick, you do chicken, you do sausages, just tell us a little bit. So everybody who's listening, their mouth is already watering right now. We do pulled pork is our specialty, we call ourselves home to pulled pork.

Lauren we did one a little bit earlier and largest got back from one. So we're gonna be talking about disney crew. And what ship were you on. I was on the dream. would you guys do. We were in the dream. Fantasy that So he can compare some notes and Swaps and stories and well reminisce. Oddly if you haven't on a disney cruise is a lot of questions so we wanted to kind of go over with the experiences. How it's different. Yeah we we should probably put it in a disclosure that it changes every five minutes. There's always something new. So always keep up with the with the travel agent with lauren or sharpie and they will keep you up to date on. What the new changes are. Because it's always something so yeah it's different from when we went versus when lauren went. Yes so that's how quickly it it cannot change. there's always a different thanks. Oh so And some of that's because of its The island is in the bahamas so bahamas has their own rules and regulations so as they changed then It changes who can go and how what has to be done and all that. So that's always up for review and changes so yeah. It's very moment just very very important to make sure that you know what's happening because it's no joke when you get to the port. If you missed something along the way they will deny you embarkation. And they will say. I'm very sorry you know. Go go to disneyworld. won't let you on. They don't make exceptions around. There's no exceptions to the rules. So until everything is done. Hopefully but that said i had an awesome trip and well let's beginning okay because things are different from the very beginning Lauren tell us your experience in the pre cruise. Before you even get on an airplane to go to orlando out of that so you get on the plane you have to do. The safe travels which is what they calls. It's not safe passage and the safe passage basically you have to upload your vaccination and Trying to find the website hairiness yes. It's not that bad. It's just a it's another on it too. I'm gonna end right now safe passage and it's Or d. c. L. d. c. l. Dot safe passage dot com. So they have their own site. The connects you reservation to the safe passage site and so it's all conveniently tied together which is good right and so basically you have to do your prescreen which clears you to arrive. And then when you get to the port you do your embarkation screen and then when you leave you do disembarkation screen and upon arrival like once you get your pre sale screening done which basically is uploading your vaccine information or pr test. If you your child under the age of twelve twelve and under i should say must be done within twenty four hours to three days prior to the sale date and if you're vaccinated you could actually applaud that i believe up to twelve days. Prior ray say that again reverts vaccinated. You can go into the safe passage and uploaded earlier than yes three days and then you get your qr code. You print your qr code. You have to print that you will be asked for that. Qr code five million times before you actually get on that ship. I'm not even remotely exaggerating that number. That's scary so make sure that you do your pre-sales screaming nature. You print your qr code. Make sure you just have it readily available because every checkpoint you hit you're gonna have to show it so So once you get all that done you get your qr code printed. Take it with you. Offer each passport And then when you get to the poor do not arrive early in port canaveral for your port time because they will turn you away Like they can't even get into the facility. You can't even get close to the port. it will make wall. You can pull up like we pulled up and dropped our bags and then they said circle for a few minutes and then come back and we'll take us can go into the line. Okay see it was different for us. They wouldn't they wouldn't let you near to even drop of luggage so things are changing this. Why you need to be on top of things and we were close to our time. We weren't that far off so that could be why most goodbye they did. Let us like drop our bags off and then they just circle around a little bit and then come back in a few minutes so we did that and then They send you into the parking garage if your parking if you're coming via Disney transfers getting dropped off. You're going to go into the tent for testing We did. We drove in and parked so we went through the parking garage. You pull in you park in a parking spot they scan your code and a nurse comes to the window and gives you however many people are in your car the tests and you do the test yourself you bag it you give it to them and then you go up the parking garage. You're planning for a specific weekend like a birthday weekend or something like that. But that's months away. Your you need your reservation for your birthday weekend but if you're at a lower tier can't do it one because it's a weekend to you have to reserve it further advance and you end up holding out a reservation from your availability so the magic. I got i got burned on that helping out ceska burski the writer of the unofficial guide a universal because the policy was changing while i was staying at dockside in it endless summer but but most of the time You can get a length of stay free stop cup at resort for eighteen or nineteen dollars for the entire time could do so but you cannot use sorry. I'm hijacking this. You cannot use your freestyle cup for the park and resort and you cannot use your resort when in the park to separate operations. Yes that makes sense some What's another good one now. The tip. I think we're just gonna go with this one. Universal has done a great job trying to just admit compete with disney with their nighttime operations. they've really upgraded their lagoon. Show their cinematic spectacular studios for the half. Every night was some fireworks now. In orlando is inside or like the orlando property. They have limited. Fireworks can do legally because of noise. Orders says but they've added that they've created this incredible Lagoon projection saying. That's really really good and best part of your potter person. There's something it's really hard to acquire it magic kingdom for adults the you can find everywhere. University orlando. it's called adult beverages and many people are smart enough to know that they can walk back to the hard rock hotel and not have a problem is they perhaps had two beverages. You know perhaps two or three. I'm i'm just saying i'm not making a judgment here. Don't take that the wrong way. I'm happy to make judgments in other settings but if you know you're gonna walk back to your hotel and you're not leaving the resort you've been is responsible as you can be but yet that would not be the same phenomenon. That's why use the magic kingdom analogy is if universal is i know we're digressing from the. It's like the horror the horror makeup show which is one of their original attractions. One of the standard lines from the script of the horror makeup show which is kind of a comedy show. If you're familiar with it. Is that they modified through the years. We're not disney. We don't have to be nice to the children. And then the in the current script the other actor will say. We have harry potter. Now don't say that anymore. Okay but universal decided a long time ago that they were going to target teenagers and adults. And if you're gonna target adults that does mean adult beverages and so you should factor that in because the dull beverages will cost you less than they do a disney property. And you'll probably drink more of them than you think you will. And they serve some pretty awesome. Drinks spoken spoken to someone. Who's a non drinker. I know when. I go with people. You just can't understand john. I'm like i know you just you just happily spent such such money on this bubba bit endless summer this gigantic thing for thirty dollars in. They say they have three because they have volcano bay. Which is the ara park on yet. Have to a really cool water park. Yes so they so so the hey come on. Not fall for that marketing. Yes so they have those so they have the the two and the waterpark. So it's definitely you can go more than a day and then we hadn't stayed on property it's now we have. It's been years but So we we started originally doing the day trip many many years ago but now we stand property so we wouldn't not. Yeah so we will. Every time we go we stand property. Emily advantage yes. So the advantage for me of staying on property is similar to disneyland in california. Where can get to everything by just walking. It's like that small property and they do have buses and boats and walking trails and things like that so there's a a multitude of ways to get around but like will. Last time we were there. We were stayed at the hard rock. And we were in the universal studios park in a matter of less than ten minutes through security and everything and on a ride in less than ten minutes. It was crazy. I don't think it was quite ten minutes but it was we went to. We went to the Yes the stunt show. Is universal family vacations. "We've done this a few times on our vacations which is vacationing at walt. Disney world. without going to the parks So i i know i enjoy it because we go so often. People always say like. Oh my gosh you know. Five days at disney. I'm just so tired because you know you get up early. Go to the park. Go to bed late and you kind of get burned out that way so this this is a good way to do disney just like any other resort so sharpie you wanna you wanna go with your first Tipper tidbit on vacationing disneyworld. Without going to the parks my first suggestion would be in the way you pack. I know that sounds crazy but always remember that. If you're if you're not going to the park you're you're gonna be dressing in mica resort in resort casual you. Can you can dress up a little bit more. If you're not going to the parks 'cause you know you need to be a little bit more comfortable but also you can take in some of the nicer restaurants and enjoy enjoy. The meal without being rushed so so think ahead to the type of things that you want to do while you're on vacation and pack more resort vacation instead of arcs vacation. That's my first gesture. This is definitely good advice. So you had to to expand on your point of taking this like a resort vacation. And that's how i kind of think of disney world. It's like a resort that you would go like a beach vacation where you go to resort Same thing that. Walt disney world. Where you go to a really nice resort but you just have the added benefit if you wanna go to a park for a little bit Or go to apcoa for dinner or something you could do that But just staying at your resort I i like the idea that where you can take it a more relaxed approach. Because i always feel like all right we gotta get dinner. We gotta get outta dinner. We gotta go see the fireworks over. We gotta be here So there's none of that you're just taking it

"Dan i do. I tend to love it or hate it. i love it. I've been on both green and orange. yeah can take. I can take both las. But i'm i don't like necessarily pushing it so i kind of stick with green unless my kids like esco orange so i wonder if this elevator is going to be anything like mission space. Eat when you get to your jiri table yes well. They can't meet too bad right right. They still want you to eat. So yeah and then probably don't have to clean up a whole lot. Ray right yeah so finally journey of water this is inspired by moana is planned planned. Walk through attraction and it lets guest interact with magical living water in a beautiful and inspiring setting so no dates for those but plenty of cyprus coming down the pipeline as right so over in the magic kingdom. The building of the tron light cycle run. It'd be hard to miss if you were going into the park. But it's looking like the pandemic will put off the debut of this exciting ride. That's an import from shanghai. Disney until two thousand twenty two jungle cruise and splash mountain are both slated to be retained the ladder using a princess and the frog theme so the resorts are also expecting a new member and this is probably the coolest thing coming to disneyworld. Is the star wars thing patel that star cruiser. A hotel a resort as it is an immersive experience where you're allowed to spend the night. Okay you're going to be transported above to the starship. Halcion were guests will become a citizen of the galaxy and everything will be part of a storyline. So it's three days and two nights of immersive where you're actually part of a storyline. And i think there is actually make you go into the galaxy's edge area as well so that seems extremely exciting. If you've seen pictures of it it looks amazing. Moving along there is the polynesian village resort. Which will reopen july of two thousand and twenty one with a new monorail station and with looks in the rooms that are influenced by mwana ahead. I will be there in september issues. I'm excited about the have to definitely have to get a report from from there. Yeah you know. I'll be doing some footage. "So let's move over to walt disney world. We know the twenty twenty. One is the fiftieth anniversary. Both magic kingdom and epcot in while we know that some of the festivities have been changed due dependent which has to ruin everything. I think it's fair to say that the public can expect plenty of disney magic. So let's start with the things that we know are still onboard. Twenty twenty one. I ball remedies rutta to adventure. The france pavilion will be receiving in ported favorite similar to the popular forty ride ratatouille the adventure that opened at walt disney studios parking paris guests will shrink to rent me size in scurry to safety within cousteau's legendary parisian restaurant so it was due to open summer twenty twenty but the opening was delayed of course and will they be october first twenty twenty one just in time for the anniversary now also expected to open in the expanded france. Pavilion is electric bill. He did a brand new clip belly which serves savory and sweet clips along with table service and quick service options. also it features a menu from celebrity chef Book us all right now. The reimagine main interest cod is actually currently in progress. This area includes new pathways greenspaces and a re-imagined fountain expect more redevelopment between spaceship earth and the world showcase a some things at no longer have opening dates but are still exciting. Include the guardians of the galaxy cosmic rewind. Yes this is going to be one of the world's longest enclosed coasters featuring a new ride system that rotates get this three hundred sixty degrees and a unique story set in the guardians universe. So if you are a guardian fan man announce it looks crazy. Yeah my family's in love this all right up. Next is the play pavilion. In the former wonders of life location is slated to be a first of its kind play area including an interactive city where guests can interact with disney characters. These things are humongous. it's interesting it's lasers and these huge pieces that are gonna shoot off fireworks. It's going to be awesome. yeah. And then there's the harry potter world for both of them. It can be not so crowded in the parks. And the until you step foot in the harry potter walls like wall to wall so we by the wind and so there's certain areas where you perform some deal with the wind and something happens. Well the problem is really crowded. Is you have a difficult time as just another line to wait in so you not having a ton of patients. We did one or two. And he's like okay. Let's just let's just go on. So i mean it's a great souvenir and it's it's something that you can bring back to the park and then if if you're a really big harry potter fan. That's really cool. Yeah because we saw people in the robes and the scarves and the whole get up. So yeah i mean it's a cool area. Yeah all right. Well let's move over to walt disneyworld. Twenty twenty one is the fiftieth anniversary of both the magic kingdom and epcot now while some of the festivities have been changed due to the pandemic which affects everything. And then steve. So my jimmy. Neutron opened in two thousand and three the simulator later ride replaced hanna-barbera that makes sense quickest ride turnaround in park. "What we're going to be doing is talking about the two thousand twenty one taste of epcot international flower and garden festival. Talk food from the flower and garden festival.
