She and other drivers I spoke with say they've been working six days a week for the past few months to cover for drivers out sick with Cove. You know if you're a bus driver, you know you probably usually zoning out by your first hour anyway. Now you're working six days a week, 10 hours a day. And all you're doing is picking up. "And then what is the experience around cases an outbreak? When we open even small number of people to be on campus way don't realistically anticipate that we will be moving here to or to be opening 12 schools that during At least until after the election after you know, early November, like when we just look at the timing of everything, it seems more realistic approach to this be to think that we're gonna be where we are now. Wait, get after until the weirdo with the election. That's three elections. That's right. It makes no sense so Khun could have picked the date the elections could I interpreted as They're holding off until the election because sending the kids back into school would be a plus sign for Trump would put everybody in a good mood. They'll feel that the whole night there is over and that Gives goodwill to trump and more votes. Is that what they're doing is they're they're manipulating the school date based on whatever. I mean, It's not gonna have any affecting California's on She picked the election. So I'm going to set Halloween, which is a few days before she could have said any. What do they expect to change between now? In November. What? What is this? Because originally it was on Ly Hospital metrics right? It was only about running out of hospital beds and ventilators. That fear never materialized were long past any danger at the hospitals Get overloaded. Why're they clinging to this? So After I listened to the audio and just for disclosure sake, there is a little bit more to it, but she talks about. She starts talking about flu season in the upcoming flu season and then and then that's all the audio I received. So after I listened to it in order to try to establish I guess, you know, sort of a baseline if you will. I went ahead emailed the health department directly to say, and the question was simple. Winded. Dr Fehr, Dr Ferrer say the school's plan to reopen that was the question I sent And I got a response back. That was basically this word salad I'm seriously is one big long paragraph of the word sounds not even worth reading because all it really said Wass. Were reassessing all the time. And as soon as we you know, do the in person learning with the high risk in the high need students based. The special needs. Yeah, will reassess for everyone else. That was their official answer as to when the schools were going to reopen. So they're not even committing to an election day possibility, right? So the Health Department official statement does not jive with the health director, and that's all I was trying to establish. Now, if they had said something like, Well, we're targeting early November. Then you know, then the story would have been. Schools are opening early November because in everyone's on the same track What caught my attention on this was that she said election not just once, but she says it twice Now it could very well be a benchmark, A simple benchmark. But then I'm looking back at the math and the timings. If you look at what Orange County's getting ready to Dio and I heard Corbin Carson's story about stay, which verifies that Orange County School district are reevaluating in three weeks. It looks like three weeks is going to be the time that things are going to start to move for Orange County. That puts us what toward the end of the month of this of September. When you start looking at the timing of the the breweries, the tasting rooms, the card rooms, entertainment rooms, the restaurant's Everything else is being reevaluated. Lake County in three weeks. Everything in L. A county right now is being a vory evaluated in three weeks, and we're already through the first week. And you're feeling who you wanted to see what would happen after Labor Day you're dealing with with a demographic that eyes it's still one death in the entire state of people under that, uh, under 18. Assed. Far as I know. Yeah, this what's what's baffling to me Well, but see, I know there is concern on the part of the unions and the teachers unions because kids or spreaders And teachers tend to be older. So the you know there was an older segment of it, and they cannot set up a shield for the teacher to teach. But this is the this's what I was getting at. So they've got protocols in place to do it with ease. Handfuls of students that are special needs high risk high needs or whatever the case is, and There said. They said they're going to see how that goes. So basically everything's like we'll see how it goes. We'll see how it happens. But what I was trying to wrap my head around was why she specifically said election and that's still another month and still two months away. Almost two months away. I don't And so then I figured out that makes no sense so that they mean it makes their long overdue to reopen the schools and I was going to get in on the call today. Terrible. This is terrible, especially if you're eating another story today about the limited Internet connective ity that a lot of students have. They're basically been shut down from learning for six months already, and then it's going to be eight months. Well, I try to get in today to ask the call or ask her on the call. But, you know, of course. Now I'm number 27. Yeah, they don't. They don't want any intelligent, penetrating questions. So, but that's ah! It's something to think about because in and here's the other thing, too, and I'll really quickly I'll just review if on this very show, we've been going over it since day one. The thing that you have to keep in mind, too, is what Ferrer has done in her comments is she's made over the course of this pandemic and in her agenda has come through many times..

"I'm Mo Kelly in for Tim, and I'm quite sure you've heard the story because it's a nationwide story. How Orange County has said cinema back to school. Don't worry about it. You know what? No social distancing no mask, and I say no way. But it's now a national story is gone beyond the borders of California and care fire zone. Corbin Carson has been covering the story, Corbin, What should I make of the decision by the Orange County School district? And what should I make of the response from what you've seen? Well, from what we've seen, especially recently is that us US seven. U. S congressman from the OSI delegation have sent a letter demanding answers from the board of Education. They're asking how did this happen? What is the science behind your decision, too? To suggest schools, Khun Go back in the fall without any master about any social deuce, distancing without any reduced class size is this decision And on that, you know, this is an all Democrat delegation there. Seven. There's you know, Congressman Harley Rhoda, You have Linda Sanchez, Katie Porter, Alan Lowenthal, Mr Sparrow's Lou Correa and Mike 11. All the Democrats and the On the other hand of that spectrum, you have The board, which is for registered Republicans and one Democrat. And ironically, the vote to open schools next month without those Kobe concerns was for the one with the one dissenting vote being the Democrat. And what this letter is asking for is what What is what is again. What do you expect? How do you expect to pull this off? What is the science behind the panel? There was a panel that came forward about a month ago that came to the T to this board, and they said that the Mass were no good. I said that kids wouldn't wear them around tagged or tether ball. It's unrealistic to think that kids will be kept apart and the The Board of Education adopted those recommendations on Monday. And and as I just said the letter comes from the congressional Democrats in the county, asking them to justify you know the safety behind this. What happens if schools start having Kobe cases and that sort of thing? I am perplexed How something which I would term is a health crisis is now a bitterly partisan political crisis. If you will. Is there any way or is there any way that cooler heads may prevail and some sort of decision be made in the best interest of the health? Of the students and teachers and administrators. I would start by saying and framing this entire argument with the idea that the Board of Education does not make policy for the 27 districts in Orange County, so the ultimate decision on how district will be returned. To school this fall will be made individually by each district. And so far, we've already seen Santa Anna come in and say that they're they're switching to a distance learning come the fall. I'm sure others will come in with with some sort of hybrid. Irvine is thinking about a hybrid a solution And so I'm sure we'll see some different things come out, but somehow this took off. As you said nationally, you know, and what's really interesting is hearing the different sides of view on this. I spoke with Congressman Harley Ruda, which is today just a little bit ago, and it's a it's good to hear the perspective of what he has to say. He says that again. He's he's saying it really makes no sense for these for the board to suggest this be recommended for the school district's without a plan in place. Take a listen. Unfortunately, it shouldn't be a political decision. We are talking about Children in their parents and the staff and teachers, their lives in their health are at stake. And to go completely against CDC guidelines and suggest that kids should go back to school without wearing mask and social distance is incredulous. And you know the hypocrisy here that this boar would meet via teleconferencing because they know the health consequences of getting together is inappropriate. To suggest that school kids staff and teachers should disregard those same safety measures they are taking is absurd route has a point. If you're going to meet via teleconference E. You are acknowledging the essential nature of the pandemic and the danger of it. It's kind of hard to get around that. Correct. But on the other hand of that spectrum I have I have I have. I have listened in on a couple of these meetings from the board of Education, including the original one where the panel was there, and that in and of itself under there was a very I wouldn't say I would say it's one sided. There was about 1000 people listening in. They were complaining. They couldn't get in to say that they were pro mask and probe. You know, taking some Cem Cem distancing considerations before kids go back in the school, but they didn't get heard That entire panel was made up of people that were against it. But what they were saying was In a lot of the parents were saying is that kids need to be back in school for over two major reasons. Generally speaking one being that it's for their social growth. They can't learn at home. It's unrealistic. Parents can monitor kids in the same way that they're in school and then be ableto learn and and grow in an educative for Matt. On the other hand, you have all these kids and parents who are part of the workforce. And if kids don't go back to school that's going to affect an already struggling workforce. And so what I did was I talked again. A bit ago to one of the board members. Dr Ken Williams. He has hey, has defended this issue. They have talked about how science may or may not be good for four kids or isn't consistent for kids wearing masks. Because of those reasons they're going to take it off. They're gonna play. They're not going to stay together. And then they also pushed them or important side of it saying, Hey, These kids need to go back to school. At some point. Take a listen. You'll find out there to go forward with putting kids back in school. I think kids are being hurt by not being in school. It's important to get the academic supposed get the social and environmental stimulation. They get The psychological stimulation and support tools are central to everything we do in our society and our community. The politics is actually coming from the unions. They could look at that locked under unified school district..
