"I was having to pay credit credit cards to pay the debt to and i just didn't make i didn't have the inside to make that adjustment to spend less money and pay the taxes down and got to point whereas i really need take care of this and that's around the same time that i found your podcasts. And so a lot of things you were talking about was resonating with me from that like that. Feeling the debt overwhelming and where. I felt like i really needed to. I needed to address this league. That i have my own super all buckled down and then i hate to say good fortune because anytime a pandemic happens. That's not good fortune but from the sense of of my ability to just sit and focus on line poker only and not having to do anything house limit spending because we couldn't leave the house and then develop these rituals it all kind of combined into the perfect storm of knee being able to to eliminate that that in just gone to the place where i don't have that on my shoulder anymore and that like happening throughout this stretch is really kind of helped me go to the next level of grinding. Because i've played for a living for almost sixteen years now and for the vast majority of that time i was not the type of person who had like this huge bankroll or you know i was always like a bad month or two eight from bruin essentially an from an from going into major debt and so i always like that's the reason i had to grind so hard because like again planning online is a huge advantage that right now if i if i had to play during that shows i i did play live for three years in the time between black friday new jersey starting and i was fortunate that things went really well during that time but you know my story could completely different at i not had online poker for sure But just getting this place now feels really good Obviously i i. I worked really hard for it. I also got really fortunate to be industry plant but having that The weight of the debt and mike kind of all those things off. My back is definitely a really good feeling yet. I was gonna ask you how good that feels to be at I can't even imagine. I bet it's pretty a your shoulders. Feel a little lighter. You're gonna feel buddy. yeah. I hope so so. This is an interesting thing you have been demolishing poker for sixteen years and you just got out of debt. What last year. Well honestly it's been. It's it's officially happening in two weeks. I have i have no. I have one zero percent interest. So it's getting paid off in two weeks and during that time i also i am kind of like in in the middle..

"That generate revenues by making investments. Our view is that has very broad implications across the entire economy. And it's part of the reason why we think the fed is going to do everything in their power to not let rates new esco negative. They've realized that it doesn't do anything. In terms of helping economic perspective and the second derivative facts the adverse effects outweigh any sort of positive impact. That might have from say generating investment type of these like they've done historically where they or greats. How much is the curve. Play into kind of what you guys are doing as far as looking at opportunities on what's going on there that's a good point. Today's low rate environment. One of the ways that you can add value as an institutional investor even as a retail investor is looking at. What is the shape of the yield curve book like where a two year bond yield roads to ten-year-old to third year and right now the steepness of that curve. It's pretty steep so a two year. Muny yields may be ten basis points or point one zero percent. Five union may yield somewhere around. I have it from me. But let's say thirty basis points thirty five and a ten year might yield you know somewhere around ninety basis points so not quite one percent but in an unchanged rate environment. There are two sources of return for you as an investor won his income generating. The second is what's called price return and in a bind. If you're yo- goes down the price goes up. Lotte guys and i carried that over when i took command of special operations command africa on twenty four april and i got with them unbelievable. Twenty six months at data. What i thought were indiscipline issues with alcohol and drugs was self-medication Guys trying to figure out how they're going to be able to alleviate their pain deal with their and still be able to do their mission to the best of their ability right and and s- in sauk africa report even the deploying troops that came over. We put them to and it was huge Navy seals marine special operators. Sf air force. Guys we got testimonies from wives marriages were saved. We decentralized the the program. Like i remember. I was in new. Where which we're up in arlit which is in the middle of nowhere. It's not the end of the world but you can see it from there and And i did my skype. You know Meeting with my therapist right. I mean i still see a therapist right. It's just something that. I decided to continue. But i'm very high functioning person and that was my point. These guys are still high functioning in there even more high functioning if we give them the treatment they need. It's just a mental injury. Fifty two people we we diagnosed with a p. t. s. four hundred seventy one with With traumatic brain injury. Four hundred seventy one. And there's only one guy and you won't believe how many people would pain management issues. I i mean and sleep issues. The definition of a sweet know sweet problem we are and and so we got him the machines or the mouth thing whatever. They wanted And it was unbelievable. You know if you if you get less than five hours asleep your brain operates like it's got point one zero percent alcohol in it out legal limit of Driving under the influence so for. I don't know twenty five years or so. I was shit faced at work out without taking a drop alcohol. You know and and think about your decision making and stuff like that and so the new york times came into the unit said hey We're going to do an article on africa. And then she started talking to people. I said that's not the story. The story is how we're dealing with post traumatic stress. Tbi and getting resilience and readiness back in the store. You should ask him about that so she asked me about an. I told her and that became the story. I wasn't a popular story but the chain of command not popular story at all. And i was told to stop talking about it. The more you talk about it the more problems we have said while. I don't agree with that. I think the more we talk about it the more we understand it and at least problems we have We get guys in therapy and we can do it without degrading. The mission i didn't i had ninety six ninety six missions and special operations command in eight hundred forty six associated tasks and i had zero zero detriment in mission And guys got better. I mean drug and alcohol abuse you know. Incidents went way down. I went to zero in misbehavior in the In the workplace zero right they sent a team from. Dod to investigate. We were doing right. And i said hey. It's just a matter of taking care of mental physical injuries and spiritual You know so calm. Had a great program that they brought in with that integrated Families and we had that and we'd located in our headquarters and that was something that i had nothing to do with because The rules are that nothing gets reported chain of command. And i'm okay with that right. I don't need to know right. Guys there with their families working out problems. It was really unbelievable After twenty six months of you know of this and yeah You know that would for me. It was a whole process of leadership and learning and understanding And then being able to say you're strong not weak if you ask for help right and i had three suicides to my unit i know. Forget sergeant first class in kenya. Six month rotation to kenya combat operations with the kenyan special ops rangers against l. against al-shabaab and isis somalia scrape work packed up. All his gear cleaned his quarters that he was staying in. Put a note day before was redeploy when out to the range sat in a chair an shot himself in the head. It was more painful him for him to go home at that point in time in his life and his decision making process then So he took his life. I tell you what man. I took a knee on that one. You know what i mean. I mean big me.

"In front of them right. oh dear. Bergen fellow democrats pummel her right. Now finally did do credit where credit is due. Jamaal bowman was a strongest on this but then also came in rally and those two singlehandedly. Our corporate agenda corporate agenda started talking about corporate democrats and all of a sudden look at this for presses covering it because that's how public pressure works. Yeah i mean you took the words right out of my mouth including all of the impressions tone to believe that. Because he's in a conservative state. He has to be like this but as you said. His constituents want things like changes to the filibuster raising the minimum wage. They support the for the people at and he is so out of staff with the wants. The needs of his constituents. It's so obvious that he is not interested in actually governing or supporting their actual needs. He's interested in cashing corporate jets. So obvious it's very simple and i. It gets frustrating. The amount of power the grip that this one person has over our democracy this person who is very clearly not interested in governing in any meaningful way exactly then especially that he's wielding influence over something like the for the people act which a very similar bill he co sponsored just two years ago. It's desperately needed considering the bills. That have been passing on the damage for tonight talk today about how many have already passed and hundreds more are pending the issue. Is that i what i love about. This story is that. It combines both forms of the assault. On american democracy you have The renewed efforts to suppress the vote as much as possible in set up. You know preceding of election later and that sort of thing and then you also have joe manchin. Who is being influenced the old school way like hypothetically west virginia you might have been able to vote to get a senator. But she don't get a senator who cares about your vote. You got a senator who cares about his donations and all totally legal. They don't need to change any laws To get that sort of influence over democracy they just pay check and get anytime they want. Yeah so one more thing top. Three donors politics that we can see what the make it is. Not the dark money guys are number. Three is drug companies number. One is the national national association of realtors and if you're wondering why all the shady housing stories it's because the national association of realtors are buying our politicians in mass little on the banks but number two is the chamber of commerce. They gave eighty million dollars last year. Two things one. That's actually tip of the iceberg. Do give a lot more in dark money as so the what you're seeing publicly in what they give. The joe mansion is basically an appetizer. Okay good boy. And we're and the reason they publicly even though they could funnel they can and do funnel much more money in dark money to them secretly and we were not even allowed to see because joe manchin won't allow anti corruption measures so that we can see them right and in fact that's in the like that's why he hates it and that's why i told you from day one zero percent chance that guys like joe manchin. Vote for that by the way. It's not just him. There's at least ten other corporate democrats according to washington post that that are hiding behind mentioned. Go go go daughters donors. That's in the for the people. I didn't disclose their dark money. Donors and that's the last thing they want. Because then you see the whole iceberg of how deeply deeply corrupt joe manchin and other corrupt corporate democrats are let alone the entirety of all of the republican senators. But but even the eighty million. That's the tip of the iceberg. You think the giant multinational corporations are giving eighty million dollars to american politicians for what charity. They like their style. Like it really anybody. Does anybody think they a little bit of cancer and a little bit to heart disease and then and then they gave some to politicians. Oh they have no interest in how their voting and the politicians who took all those millions of dollars they were totally ineffective. Because they're saints. If you think that you're in luck you can get a job with any mainstream media outlet apply. Now they'll be like great. You're one of seven people in the country who schmucks enough who think that our politicians are not corrupt. Come on it's not enough on. You will hire all of you so major media where there's a piece by salon right at least they're progressive right. And and it's good to have other progresses writing about the sesame sesame you slim figure that corporate donations. You still haven't figured it out every reporter. Every editor in the country should be fired if they don't understand corporate donations at a bare bare bare minimum. Have a lot to do with how the joe matches of the world vote and how they act. If they deny that part of the game they're not at all interested in challenging power. They're interested in the status quo because guess what. Hey they're also multi billion dollar corporations jiang. that was just the appetizer. If you like mansion. I got another one for you. Your transition to this Let's say hypothetically Democrats the media were able to push. Joe manchin sort of the out in front most new hardcore defender of the filibuster point To switching his position that would not necessarily be mission accomplished because there are others and not just in west virginia in much more liberal states. That affect just agree with them. They haven't received as much attention but they're about to Let's see we've got senator dianne feinstein. Who broke with her colleagues who've been recently saying that they would choose democracy to script by scrapping. the filibuster for publicans tried to block the for the people act. There is sweeping election reform. Bill she says if democracy were in jeopardy. I would want to protect it but i don't see it being in jeopardy right now. She says we should just wait and see what happens with. Hr one and when asked if there were any filibuster. Reform measure shoot support literally. Come up with anything you want. She would say. I'd have to take a look right now. Nothing comes to my mind. There's a reason for that. She look feinstein was a classic corrupt corporate democrat for decades the corporate media covered for her over and over and over again as recently as last run in two thousand eighteen she still had. Outrageous position was against the war on drugs. Just democrat ran against her heart. She now works here. And alison obviously wanted to legalize drugs. Like the entire state of california and enforced by scientists finely switcher position in twenty eighteen. All along she's been off drugs. Gave marijuana is a gateway drug. We should make sure that the drug companies make as much money as possible with artists. I mean i. I mean it's very dangerous. It's very dangerous and she was for the death penalty. She deeply deeply conservative right joe. Sandra recently came out very powerful and influential progressive in california. Saying i made a mistake. I should've went against feinstein in two thousand eighteen. I should have done it. This is what we cannot let this stand still. She's a little bit of a different situation. Because at this point she's an obvious. No one disputes. This is in mental decline. Like she cannot remember. What another senator. Schumer what our staff told her yesterday. So that's why when they ask her. Hey is there anything you would do for electoral from everything's great isn't it. You know one thousand nine hundred. Wouldn't i'm a republican and pretending to be a democrat and no one ever challenges me on it. That's the game..

"Cause let's stick with the facts here fox news when the banks crashed the world economy in two thousand and eight who they support for the banks. They pretend to be populist. And what are they said. They said we wrote on the show. Oh my god. These poor bankers you solved pay their bonuses. How else could we help them. Have them a help. These companies get back to solvency. What do you mean we helped him get back super giving them billions of dollars trillions overall when you add them all up and they said we need their expertise no we don't do the guys in christ in the first place but fox news said no. You must pay the bankers. They're giant bonuses. Even if they're complaining utter failures that art laffer to laugh at at the poor and the minorities that everyone else go. They're not worth anything. They're not even worth fifteen dollars by the who agrees with them. Joe mansion and eight democrats. That voted with every single republican. the senate. they all voted. No on fifteen dollars minimum wage. Joe biden had his two best friends in the senate. The two dollars senators vote no on minimum wage. Fifteen dollars minimum wage. So you might get mad and you should get mad at art laffer at fox news but understanding a lot of corporate democrats and and this is important the entirety the entirety of the republican party every single one of them are corrupt crooks who hate poor people middle class people who only serve the rich and he s was corporate democrats. I don't care what any kiss. Acids establishment says are same exact people as then they vote no on your higher wages and they all know but press. Don't criticize us when republicans do with your bad guys when democrats they do it on principle principle. What no when you see laugh. We're talk like that. That's the same exact thing. joe manchin. Christmas cinema chris coons is so many other democrats think well. Let's talk about the real bums in the us economy. And that's the Corporate ceos who don't pay their fair share in taxes and now we have some details about the extent to which they're doing that so journalists over at propublica obtained fifteen years worth of tax documents on the wealthiest tax dodgers here in the united states. We're talking about the warren buffett's and the jeff bezos of the world and when you compare what their income really is and how small the percentage of taxes they pay you get a sense of just how rig this economic system is in their favor now before i get to these specific details. I want to note that. I say that. The economic system is rigged to their favor because they get to skirt taxes. Legally the system is set up this way. So they're not breaking any laws but for the first time we really have a clear look detailed look based on tax filings What the extent of their tax evasion really looks like so as propublica reports the capture To capture the financial reality of the richest americans propublica undertook an analysis. That has never been done before. We compared how much in taxes the twenty five richest americans paid each year to how much forbes estimated their wealth grew in that saw same time period. So you're looking at the growth of wealth and the portion of that wealth that was taxed and as you can imagine it was a very tiny portion according to forbes. Those twenty five people saw their worth. Roy is a collective four hundred one billion dollars from two thousand fourteen to twenty eighteen. They paid a total of thirteen point. Six billion dollars in federal income taxes in those five years the irs data shows. Now that sounds like a lot right. That's a staggering. Some but as they report it amounts to a true tax rate of only three point four percent. So take a look at what you paid in federal income taxes last year i guarantee you. It was more than three point. Four percent and right. Now we're talking about the wealthiest people in the country. We're talking about billionaires who have not paid their fair share So i'm just gonna show one quick graph and i'll open it up to jank so this is a fun graph that propublica put together. And so it shows you how much the wealth has grown between twenty fourteen and twenty eighteen for each and so for warren buffet. For instance you see that. His wealth during that time period had grown by a whopping twenty four point three billion dollars and when it comes to his taxes he only paid zero point one zero percent toward taxes. Again i guarantee you if you look at your own tax filings. For last year. You paid significantly more. You look at jeff bezos. His wealth grew by ninety nine billion dollars between two thousand fourteen in two thousand eighteen and he paid less than one percent in federal taxes. On those earnings. Let alone the fact. This corporation amazon oftentimes also paid zero percent. So don't get it confused. The company pays nothing then. Basis pays nothing. That's literally one of the richest companies in the history of the world. And he is the single richest man in the history of the world and yet they're paying he's making less than one percent and you're getting your ass handed to you on taxes in fact i'm gonna give you more details on that in a second so a comparison. Look i want you to understand. The context of this is always right now. We're having us debate. Debate that democrats are going to lose anyway shoot. We increase the top income bracket from thirty seven percent to thirty nine point six percent. The reason why the nas debate and the reason why biden is proposing it in the first place when he told donors that nothing would fundamentally change is because even if it went to thirty nine point six percent. Nothing would fundamentally change because they're not paying. You're not paying any of those taxes so it doesn't matter if this another two and a half percent yet the republicans.
