Kelly saying he wanted to do that. All season to establish things there and we saw diverse units Using their running back throughout the game. But you know you have to reset expectations a bit. This was last year last place team. And the texans show that they're not the worst thing in the afc south and in the league so it isn't energize game for team that's trying to establish you know. So there's something to be said about trying to establish and competitiveness and they You taking that first. Step here. We'll we'll see how that continues against the cleveland browns. Sometimes they get a little carried away. So i like been down for the ball and i realize i'm still talking and i'm not even near the microphone. So that's what happened. When i just went out there. What a show. It's been a lot of stuff. Has happened milwaukee. Up three to milwaukee's physical. They're out there mentally stronger right now. The the sons are tired. They're not playing. Phoenix suns basketball. Now it's not over. The sons can get back into it if they play. Phoenix suns basketball. But why should we expect them to change. Since we haven't seen that for three games now we've seen in spurts we've seen it stretches. We've seen it through quarters. We haven't seen it through a full game and that's the issue. Are we gonna see something different. Are we gonna see them. Be able to change. And i don't know. I don't know that's the problem here. So what we're looking at now is can you know they end up getting this right. Can they end up changing in writing. The course you're like monty. Williams is a great coach. Right so monty williams is going to do what he can do. Best to get this team going. And he's gonna put them in good positions. I really do believe that. I like monty williams a lot. But i worry about chris paul. It just feels like something is off with chris. Paul and i can't put my finger on it. I'm not sure why. I'm not sure why we're seeing this with chris. He's he didn't even break tin there. There's been issues going on with this team. i think the biggest issue is their fatigue. They're tired and for the first time. All postseason we're seeing that really wear on it. We're seeing that really start to hurt them. Do they have enough in the tank for one game. One game to ship them back to phoenix. That's all they gotta do. Because the home crowd in game seven. We'll get the juices going. I don't know if they can win a home game game in game seven but if they have a much better chance of winning and game seven if they can win tuesday night in milwaukee if they can win tuesday night milwaukee. They're right back in this day because it's a winner-take-all and it's on their home court. But do they have enough to actually win that game. Six in milwaukee with those fans are going to be going outrageous that deer park. Did they have outside. Where all those fan. I mean it is going to be nuts nuts. This is a team. But they can't slow down what milwaukee's doing offensively and that is the biggest issue there that is by far the biggest issue. Can they changed that around in time. They ended up winning the game. So now they're the team with the quote unquote mental understanding of how to close out a close game. Not saying phoenix doesn't know how to do that but they haven't done in the finals yet. Only milwaukee has so now milwaukee reverts back to that moment in their brain. It's crunch time. Again and devon booker hit a big three chris. Paul trove down the baseline. So all the sudden milwaukee's momentum is dissipating right. and you're saying okay hey. Phoenix actually still has a legitimate shot to pull away here and win a game that they absolutely don't deserve. They don't deserve to win this game but they might steal it. It's one twenty to one. Nineteen game Milwaukee has the lead. There's under twenty seconds to go in the game. And here we go deja vu. All over again devon booker right-wing isolation basketball in. They're not looking to spread it around. They're not looking to driving kick. Booker goes from rights from the right side. All the way to the left side of the lane three guys are in his vicinity to collapse on him and then holiday comes from behind. Booker gives up his dribble. They're probably more set now in their only gonna be in big places and they're only going to be where you know people have that kind of money or nations have that kind of money and yes along the way. You're going to get people who have money who want to make political statements with that's hardly knew by the way berlin nineteen thirty six. Hello so it's not like that's a new thing to the olympic games but when when the dust settles and you have competitions and you have somebody from burundi reporting against somebody from from northern california. It's still a great concept. I don't think you throw this baby out with the bath water. Just because it's gotten political or it's gotten everything is tv everything. Otherwise it's still about the competition particularly this summer games which are so vast and so what i'd be more concerned about how surfing is now a sport and everything else that you know. They got a hold of every year and those kind of things that bother me about the olympics nasa limited to big cities. I i just don't think you throw you throw this tradition away. Because you don't like that it's got everything's political. The nba is political. Come on you know with the statements that it makes a an statements on the port. It's a political sport and doesn't keep people from watching it. I just don't think it's worthy. Cancel jewish interested in this olympics. All i'm going to say. Is i understand all of everything you've said okay. The athlete is still going to be competing against each other. Okay day with all of the concerns about covert the games. Oh yes as we've heard the games will go on but there's no way i've been listening to all of us for the last week or so. Why aren't you is engaged by the competition this time. Happening in a fan lewis olympics and it just makes you wonder why they couldn't have just waited another year and then just gone on the two year four year cycle. You know that the the way that it works but no. Nbc has to make. It's money tokyo us to make money. And what has to make its yawning. Llc everybody but what. What are we looking at here. Potential chaos and madness and disaster and catastrophe. Other than that. what would you think. Yeah national. I always mitch and bob i. We've all been to the olympics. We've all we never go to the olympics without seeing something great sometimes not in the main arena. Sometimes all that stuff okay. We've all written these stories and love these stories. I some of my fondest memories of of forty four years working directly for the globe where the eleven olympics and i wasn't privileged was to be in that arena that night i wasn't covering olympics then but there have been plenty of other things. I saw that that i'm very happy to. We've been there and but to still experience being around. It doesn't have to frustrate me guys. It doesn't have to be this way. They let the i think of some of the early ones. I went to buy celona louis hammer which was like a fairytale for three weeks was unbelievable. Experience a wonderful experience. Imagine holding an olympics in the village at twenty thousand people now course or a lake placid now of course not because they've allowed it to become something they've allowed it to happen in my opinion and and you know and it's runaway train kind of thing until the point where nobody wants to have it out. Take the opposing view. Partly because i believe in partly. Because i think it needs to be stated the concept of bringing the world together in a single place fourth let competition is not an idea whose time has come and gone. There's nothing the matter with that idea. It has been polluted and diluted to my way of thinking a little bit by all the professionals who were basically you calamar. Our goes from from winning the british open to playing in the olympics. You know you you just see the nba players. Finish up their thing and now. They're playing in the olympics. That you know. I guess i'm old fashioned that way in and there's part of me that says you know these guys don't need to be there. The nhl doesn't need to be there all but still when they're run correctly when and the competition is legit and everybody shows up and nobody's boycotting there's still a wonderful concept with fantastic history. That goes way way back. I don't see any reason to abolish them. Other than we all wanna be so woke about everything that anything that was old. It has to ask to be wrong now. I don't have a problem with them at all. But i do have a problem with them. I do have a problem with them this year. I think that walk. And why do you think they're an idea because it's not about that anymore. Okay it's about. It is for the athletes. I get that but that the hulk. The poll olympic brand is tragically. It's not about the ethics. It's about countries making political statements in this piece. If you are going to suffer in life make sure it's for a good reason if it's not for a good reason see if you can find a way to make it better. My guess is that you have more resources available than you think. My children have not had a great relationship with sleep over the years. My fifth child's crib is currently in the master bedroom closet. Because well with five kids. They don't all get their own rooms. The crib is on a bit of carpet in the corner. But there's no furniture because well it's a closet and so when the baby would be up in the middle of the night over the past year. I'd go feed him or hold him. Sit on the floor now. Being a forty something mother i am not as sprightly as i was as a twenty something mother and sitting on the floor in the dark in the cold in the middle of the night has been unpleasant and i was feeling pretty bad for myself. It was only after months of this. That i had thought i could get a chair. Yes a chair. I could put a chair in the closet. So i could sit on the chair to feed the baby or hold him now. I am a fairly frugal person. So i didn't actually go out and buy a rocking chair but i did move an extra chair. We had up to the closet. I still don't like waking up in the middle of the night but at least it's less physically painful. We can all ponder what was going on in my head that i didn't think about an obvious way to ease my misery. I blame sleep deprivation but if you think about it you may have blind spots to so it goes. Sometimes we have to think about things for a while but the more pernicious problem as i have learned over years of studying how people spend their time is not the misery itself. It is that sometimes we become attached to our narratives of misery. They become part of our identity. You know how this goes. I'm so hard working that. Of course i don't have time for hobbies or i don't have hobbies. That's what happens when you have kids. And i'm such a dedicated parent or i can't start a business. I have a mortgage. I'm a serious person. Or i shouldn't expect to like my job. That's why they call it work or i have to spend all my time cooking and cleaning so of course. I don't have any time for fun. That's just what's expected of me sometimes. People's conversations turned into a competition over whose life is more miserable. Whose spouse did something more thoughtless whose kids are more ungrateful. Who's boss is more domineering. But here's the thing. No one wins in the misery olympics. The real prize is not taking part if something is making you miserable instead of wallowing in the misery or clinging to the misery as part of your identity. Figure out what you can do to make it less terrible often. Small steps can make a difference if you hate your boss. You don't have to quit your job. Maybe you could volunteer for a project that has you working in a different department and with a different supervisor. Two days per week if your spouse is not pulling his or her share of the loot on something well ask for help. With something specific the person might refuse in which case you can then act on that realization but there is a pretty good chance that the person you married isn't actively trying to make your life miserable. It is hard to see things outside our immediate daily routines. So don't suffer. Ask for what you want now. There are sometimes reasons. We voluntarily take on suffering. I know that many people listening to this podcast have lived through the misery of early pregnancy. Many times it's worth it for the wonderful new people we bring into this world. We can all be grateful for people who do dangerous but necessary jobs who put themselves in harm's way for others. I am thankful that emergency responders will go out in the cold in the middle of the night in order to help people. But if i'm up in the cold in the middle of the night well there's no benefit in me sitting on the ground versus be having a chair. There is no point in suffering. He did some big things he came back. He made some big moves. He won an idol late there. The final immunity. Excuse me and then. He gave that immunity up to take on rick in the fire challenge. That was huge. The also convinced lauren to give him an immunity so he made some late big moves. I don't want to say like he did nothing but still. Gd trae i mean. That's we talked about it at the time. Like it's that's a tough one. The guy was on edge of extinction for two thirds of the game. He was voted out early and still manage to win it out or you could argue though voted out early because he was a threat and then you you left out the part where he injured being on extinction for all that time. That's part of the game. That was part of the game that season so for sure. I'm fine with every win of survivor is an incredible win. I don't care how you got. It's it's pretty amazing and you can do it many different ways but still just weird that he played a third of the game but i get it. He's still playing even on edge of extinction. It doesn't feel right. It feels like probst move the goalposts of the the rule the parameters of the game change that season so it just didn't it didn't feel right it didn't feel right for share so i i'm fine with that astra's but taking on rick like giving up his guaranteed spot in the final. Because because i just don't wanna doubt yet it's toughness about the bucks played at smart and they obviously showed up further superstar now going back to atlanta. I'm sure they're all going to show up. But i agree. I think he probably sits now going to game seven. I definitely expect a good game. No matter who's on the floor. Because i think one good thing about the twenty twenty one playoffs is that this as we said would have been a game where the road team just rolled over and died especially without their superstar especially knowing that they've got home court to go back to but i don't think it's happening like basically at all i feel like there's a lot less blow to you know since the first round. There's there's far fewer bloats than than in years past now people in the street team no given it to me after my first little spiel there. I said this was a game that would down to the wire absolutely did not go down to the wire but went down to the fourth quarter. I forty eight minutes though they did. Yeah well i mean. But i don't know if he's up to the number one perimeter guy role trae young has been in the series so far the three point shooting helps and it gives trae on a little bit more space out there at the very least i imagine. We'll see trae give. James harden performance. You know where he can handle the ball. He can pass the ball. I can take open threes. Maybe he's not quite as explosive off the dribble dribble. But i don't know. I think even without honest the bucks could probably come into atlanta and get this win of trae. Young isn't playing because as we saw in game for you know and game five really when you count out a team. That's missing its star. That kind of gives the team. That's missing it star an advantage. Sometimes right where. You're just sleep on them a little bit and i don't think that will be the case for the bucks in game six with the chance to go to the finals right. We saw the sun's really. Crazy is reggie miller did on the broadcast. They showed people in the stands for the box holding up. Crazy is bobby portis signs. Apparently the guy thinks about opponents slapping his mother in the face. they're a game to get fired up for the game for bobby have been really really playing. Well he's a little bit of a brook lopez facsimile where he can kind of stretch the corporate. It can also score inside and you know he's just bringing athleticism and intensity that the hawks haven't necessarily been able to match his minutes because congo is out there ballin. I think he's playing really really well. He brings the energy. But bobby portis is pretty skilled offensively as well and he's been a little bit of a difference in this series in the bucks wins. Yeah i think. I heard him after. One of the games earlier in this series said the guys on his team call him. Bp obviously as initials but also the gas chain because he brings the gas he bring that energy legally. I was like oh wow that.

"The game it was one of our main priorities just to be aggressive out of the gate be the aggressor and be more aggressive than they were seriously. The bucks did that sick. Twenty eight points in the paint in first quarter for milwaukee. They were up thirty thirty to ten. They scored on their first thirteen possessions. And yeah the hawks were able to stay. They kept competing. And i thought that was very impressive to not. Just tuck it in and say okay. We're done for the game tonight but the game was really over after the first quarter you can tell the bucks play in a little bit harder a little bit locked in like saying they were switching everything but not always they just played a really smart defensive game and they basically just made it so that the hawks don't have a ton of gaps to exploit defensively because without trae young. You're relying on bogdan bogdonovich. Who's been playing better but still isn't at one hundred percent. You're relying on kevin herder who has had some nice gains in the playoffs. Still not a number one guy. And you're relying on lou williams who was awesome in game four but in game five just kind of came back to earth because lou williams ain't trae young and you know the bucks kinda saw what was going to be happening for atlanta. They were probably caught off guard in game. Four with all the movement but they made it a lot harder for for atlanta to attack one on one against milwaukee last night and then they just crushed him inside. You know en- game for the hawks contributions from everybody one through nine. That's exactly what milwaukee did in game five. Yeah the bucks. Were up twenty points in less than nine minutes did you. Were you a my buddy grisham about this game last night did you. Did you feel like this one was over. The hawks cut it to like. I wanna say sixty six points. Maybe at one point. That's right. yeah. I think that's sort of the closest. It felt like there in the second half. It was always like a nine to eleven point. Lead the bucks. Get it a little bit. Bigger hawks hit a couple of threes. Whatever but yeah. It was wasn't over in the first. Let's say ten minutes of this game. Be honest with me. Did you think milwaukee's winning this one to me. It sort of did feel that way to be honest and criticised booth halls or a couple of times in the playoffs for his team's not really seemingly being ready for a game. And i think that wasn't the case last night i think he clearly understood. This was technically not a mass win but in reality i think it was because i sort of needed to really show that the without janas. There's still a better team. I think than the hawks with trae. Young and i think you saw that last night because as you mentioned there all the stars for the box contributed stepped up played well on both ends of the floor and just it was a kind of boring but impressive victory that they never really gave the hawks life. You know bogdanovich hit a couple of threes there and they did make those runs but it never felt that. The hawks had quite enough offense to overcome the box as long as the box kept putting pressure on them on the other end of the floor. And i think that's what it was. Milwaukee just understood like we don't need anyone to go out and go for forty five or anything like this just. Everyone contributed kate mixing up. That offense exploited brooke inside. Because he's just a monster of a human being and they didn't really have anyone who could physically stop him so bruton holzer. I think was like this is this is this is basically could be the series tonight histories on this dot on this know percentages a nail heavily on milwaukee so even if trae comes back you know i mean the bucks is still a good team. But that's what i think. It was a bad for me. It was milwaukee was like from the start from the tip. Get these game into place where we're leading. We're not having to play catch up and we're not giving those hawks any life because they do fight to the end. There's there's no question. They keep on fighting. Nate mcmillan has really installed that into his team. Where it's like. Just keep battling and trae young has been great but obviously when he's not there someone else would have had to step up and it just felt that you know in games where gallinari has good contribution offensively. That's that's great when you have trey gone for thirty five forty points but when he sort of again a bit a bit of a heavier focal point on the offense. It's like i think the bucks can live with this as long as you let up at the other end. And i didn't really do that. So if you'll milwaukee you know this is not a game that you're going to look back at. What an impressive before. What a great win. It was just a business like victory by a team that has put itself into the position. Now where it can close out. The series has got two chances to do at one at home. The hawks are still fighting. What i also don't necessarily think that they just come to atlanta and in the series. But certainly milwaukee after what they saw atlanta getting game for they had that big emotional victory where their star wasn't there and everyone else contributed. Well the box had that now. And if they go to milwaukee who knows if johnson trae is going to play or not but milwaukee can feel like same sort of thing if we attacked them from the start using advantages. We have on the offensive end. Then we can maybe closed series out because this is this is milwaukee series to lose from here and they really shouldn't do that there in the box seat and they should be able to close it out so good a good sort of uneventful just like get. Get the job done milwaukee and they did that. Atlanta's hope here is that what tasks another forty eight hours of rest and treatment and recovery. Whatever is going to have trae young ready to go. I if i am a betting man. I think he laces them up and tries on saturday. Night game six. But what would the bucks do now tacit.
