Light at the End of the Tunnelfor Air Travel?

"While they have been quite a lot of new developments over the past fortnight in terms of international travel some bad but also some good in summary getting back to australia over the next couple of months unfortunately looks like it could be hotter than ever but this finally light at the end of the tunnel with talk now of opening up. Australia's international borders at least for some states by the end of this year. There's been a lot to take in so joining me now. To dissect it all is travel agent and regular guest on this podcast. Allan lamb from netwave. Trevor woke mellon so back in july listeners. Might remember the sterling government javier. The number of passengers allowed to arrive each week into each of the different states and so the arrival caps before july would there were three thousand spots a week into sydney melbourne and brisbane with age taking in one thousand people and perth and adelaide were taking in five hundred thirty passengers. H week bought from july when the government half those caps that reduced And the so. The number of passengers allowed to come in on commercial. Flights into sydney was leave. One thousand five hundred a week. Melbourne brisbane dropped down to five hundred passengers. Awake and perth adelaide. Down to only two hundred sixty five eighty per week. The impact of that was already quite devastating but that was only supposed to be until the end of august. Sadly last week the australian government extended those halved arrived caps until now the end of october and that in fact they didn't even have the courtesy of announcing this publicly. What they did is they just informed the airlines and the airlines have now had to stop dumping twenty seven thousand. People in total of flights. Were booked on over the next two months ellen. What does this mean overall in terms of flights to australia. Unfortunately we've seen a lot of flights get canceled. Four raza timber and in some cases. The of started cancelling fraud type as well as even that reduction kept now in places where the toyota That means that a little flat to being played cancelled and the can't cancelled innocence operating That means is. I know your passengers being carried and the cap is now low at two hundred sixty five seeing some of these carry about ten passengers and often the majority of these business plus fortunately with adelaide is not as many airlines flying in. So because it's mainly qatar airways flying they tend to be taking a hard number sir about thirty forty passes per week into add

Stolen password leads to loan company hack

"Citywide home loans. Which lends money in. The united states is now notifying people that it was. The victim of ransomware and data theft attack in november information on a number of employees and customers was copied according to letters filed with several states and attacker got hold of employees log in credentials for the company's virtual private network. It isn't explained how that happened. One possibility is vpn. Software was hacked in the past twelve months. The software of corporate vp ends of at least two manufacturers have been cracked to expose user names and passwords. These are being sold on criminal websites. There have been many warnings so. It administrators recently to install the latest vpn security updates and have users changed passwords in order to fight this other possibilities. Are the loan company. Employees password was guessed or they were tricked into revealing it no matter the method experts say the proper use of multi factor. Authentication is a good way to add extra protection to log ins now. The next to items take a bit of explaining so please be patient organisations. Worry that personal data of customers and employees can be violated in two ways through a hacked by outsiders or abuse by an insider but who is an insider an employee for sure but it also includes employees of partner contractor or supplier firms with data access and as an article this week on the new site data breaches dot net points out. It can also include the subcontractors of contractors the author gave the following example. An american health insurance provider fought risk management software and services from firm. Alcohol company to this firm subcontracted some work to affirm call company three one of company threes employees with access to the insurers data had aside business training people how to do data coating. This person was using the insurance company's data for training material with those people without permission so unapproved people. We're seeing patient data. That's the data breach so far just under one thousand people have been notified. Their personal and medical data may have been involved. This incident raises a number of questions. Why didn't the insurance provider anonymous is. The data sent to company too so the risk of compromise was if that wasn't possible. Why didn't company to anonymous the data. That was by company three. What other security measures could have been used to prevent company three employees from seeing real data and did the health insurer realize all the risk it was taking opening. Its data to several companies as the author notes organizations can force employees of contractors and subcontractors to sign business associated agreements the cover the proper data handling and privacy however compliance with those agreements has to be regularly policed. Finally crooks have been manipulating the results of search engines like google for years to spread malware. The idea is to get a high result of a search to be an infected website. A security company sophos said this week it recently found a gang using one of those techniques. Not only for spreading viruses but also ransomware. It works like this. You ask the search engine to find the answer to a specific question that the crooks think people are likely to want answered high up on the list of returns our links to what looks like legitimate companies. Click on a link and you go to a forum with a message that offers a file downloading with the answer to the question. Download that file and you get like similar. Search engine scams crook start by secretly placing code on the websites of unsuspecting companies. So their site will call them up high enough. Search that fools people because they'll trust legitimate-looking web address in one example. The report says the question was do. I need a party wall agreement to sell my house. The first on the list of search engine responses was the website of canadian medical practice underneath. That address was linked to do. I need a party wall agreement to sell my house.

Why the worsening pandemic overseas is a risk to Australia

"Say Norman it's really heartening to see in Ustralia that at local outbreaks are really coming down to really really levels but the case numbers each day are still high and that's partly because of returned travelers. So people who've coming back to Australia from other countries, many of which have caught lodge outbreaks of coronavirus happening there. We know that last time the big outbreak in Victoria happened from an escape from hotel quarantaine and the New South Wales Health Minister. Bread has it has indicated that he's worried about the potential for something like that to happen again what? Is that scenario and Health New South Wales also worried about the resource implications. I mean, we said before that a few weeks ago I got information from the raw prince Alfred that. Nursing shifts a week were be used at that point for Hotel Corentin, and that's before we upped the ante trying to get thirty thousand streams back before Christmas and as you say, coming from high prevalence countries. So the risk has gone up as the second wave in Europe has gone up. So the risk to us of returning Australians has gone up as well in proportion, and so we're going to see more people coming back who are positive and we want expanded facility. So. It's fantastic that we've got this facility, the heartstrings facility in the Northern Territory which apparently can be expanded, but it can take about one thousand people a foreigner right now that's not going to get you there in terms of Christmas, and getting all these people back and it requires medical resources so that people who are arriving back who might be sick, and in fact, there are people arriving back through sickness. One reason why they WANNA come back to get medical care and distributor. And that was the other implication for all prince offered is that some people were coming out of hotel quarantine to come into hospital For Surgery and other things nothing to do with covid nineteen because they were just seek and they needed help and they're entitled to it. So the question is, how do you scale and what do you do in the government? A report has a report on this and you can take a risk approach, which is that you say, well, if you coming back from Britain or Italy or France, then that's high risk and go into high risk facilities, but if you coming from China. Or Singapore assuming you're not in transit in Singapore that you've been in Singapore for a while obviously New Zealand and other countries than we maybe have a light touch you can quarantine at home we can do ankle bracelets you allow the authorities to track go track you on your phone those sorts of things that we can do but they're all got risk attached to them and we just going have to be really careful because we're all rejoicing Victoria opening up and through the Fall of nobody just the pressure of positive cases coming back we could be at significant risk of some cluster outbreaks. So we got the Howard Springs facility in the Northern Territory, which is great and elsewhere in it's mostly been done in hotels which really useful for quarantine but not purpose built for it. Do we need to be thinking more about the along the lines of the quarantine stations that we used to have a century ago? Well, yes, not can't imagine that the. Government's not thinking about that. So we have these quarantine stations the to I know best of the ones one of the Mornington peninsula in Victoria and the one on south, head, New South Wales, and they were designed for exactly this purpose in the nineteenth century and early twentieth century ships coming back from overseas, which might have had smallpox on them or infections that they didn't fully understand people went to the quarantine station and stayed there for a while until it was sorted out. They could be re purposed. They're not very big really in terms of numbers of people that you could take them. There are army camps. There are other things that you could do, but it's where you might be geographically isolated. It's hard for people to get away from them, but you look after humanely in reasonable comfort while you're quarantining in addition to using home corentin when it's much safer to do. So I think that you can look on this as a national project we want Australians to come home and we're gonna find ways of doing it.

Biden and Trump spar in final election debate.

"Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, renewed his attacks on Donald Trump's handling of the corona virus pandemic at last night's final debate seeking to bolster his lead in opinion polls with just twelve days to go until the November third election the televised encounter from Nashville. Opinion polls show most Americans disapprove of the president's response to the virus. Several US states including the election swing state of Ohio reported record day increases. The pandemic is accelerating though trump trails former vice president biden significantly in national polls the contest is much tighter in some battleground states where the election will likely be decided. If I know the Germans well, they would probably be unbelievable prepared for that, too. Meanwhile! How much do we give Dortmund apart? And then there was nothing state for this game. Or how much do we say come on? You know it's still a match. You still got pride that yeah off nine. Come in and do what they did. It's embarrassing the goalkeeper Burke you said after the game that maybe we attitude of course relaxed winning mentality that they. At by him, that was embarrassing. Rich, the strike of health finance scoring four goals in that game. What a day for them! Hoffman I'm coming into European League on Directorship position in a group stays there, but embarrassing of Dolt within we talked about that game before before the game started, and this was the start of a new season, top got the confirmation that it would be the coach next year by by Director Sore yesterday, but still this is so embarrassing that he was stocked with. With we kind of bad thing going into a new season to the Phantom, they've had a quite okay season. They ought second best in Germany after the team that everybody knows as the best team in the world. Still they have a problem winning the big points on the two last home games is said to against losing to nil against mines, and then no fort mill against a health and I'm on. Thank God for that. We're not allowed eight one thousand people in that stadium. That's the be. The parliament of the streets going on in their. Care by Munich, best team in the world, maybe a conversation for another day. I by Munich right now. I'd say Liverpool it pretty good. Liverpool. TASTIC game and agree with you, but little is not in the Champions League so data answer can't be answered properly anyway, but but you're right livable look very well in the in the last game very early winning Wynonna premacy, but by an at the moment doing brilliantly on your show holiday crashed out Chelsea so I think that was a Bundesliga primarily competition, wasn't it?

"Five plus ten forty out of every one thousand people will die down four percent death rate for true faith transaction fatality rate what that suggests is that we should be transient populations we should be deciding public policy by finding the most honorable and protecting them and also we should be recognizing that the risk is not equivalently spread across the population and we figure out public policy if there is an additional marginal risk populations that are more vulnerable but it also means that we can increase the actual economic output of the United States by leaps and bounds we get back to a place where we don't have tens of millions of people unemployed and hundreds of thousands of businesses shutting down and people were lining up at food banks it's in the thousands if we can do that and there's a marginal risk increase because we've already created a lockdown strategies for the nursing homes which is where huge disproportionate number these tests are taking place and what the hell are you talking about shutting down beaches and then we move beyond the point of sanity here we just have I mean this this didn't have to become a political debate there's nothing political about this in effect it really is a political jerit pas in Colorado feels the same way that I do about this he'll just lie to you about it presumably I don't you know who else feels the same way I do about risks and rewards in calculating all the stuff every single policymaker who has ever lived in the history of humanity and they're all doing exactly the same sorts of calculations the only question is what are they're not the inputs not the date inputs the only question is what are the what are the formulas that they are using that spit out their solutions and many of them just like you don't have a formula they're basically just going by their god and say okay well I'm gonna get political blowback if I and the lockdown and so I'm just gonna continue walking down because at least that way can't be blamed for anything bad that's happening on a political level locking down it's a lot easier than restarting because the costs are obvious when you restart and the benefits are obvious but also diffuse it's easier for me to run a headline and you'll start to see these next couple weeks right two weeks from now somebody in charge will dive called the nineteen and I'll say the day after the lockdown tended this person went to the barber capital dot com they need to keep then the whole story I won't look at what the competing interests are all you'll get the anecdotal case it'll be look bad it was ten o'clock in the first place now as soon as the Democrats starts doing is almost arms doing in New York in early the bravery of Andrew Cuomo take it making the hard choices guys making the hard choices this is absurd all this is is frankly quite ridiculous coming up we'll get into twenty twenty the terror read story the allegations against him and finally breaking into the mainstream Gary Hersh here for her she specially meets in Plano for.

"Expensive insurance as well. Instances of auto thefts of accidents per one thousand people off filters in. Oh, yeah. That makes sense. I guess there's actuary sitting there. With their computers going. Okay. We're going to charge in Idaho. And this is what you're gonna pay in New York City. Right. Let's go to Los Angeles and talked about, thanks for calling. Thank you for taking my call. Two thousand thirteen Chrysler three hundred looking to replace looking for lords. Core, that's easy to get into and out of over seventy five, and it's that's quiet inside. Let's bailable whether that another Chrysler. Well, I do like that. Three hundred is that car, easy for you to get in and out of? Yes. Yeah, I figured are you working inside a particular budget. Well, up until Little Aden, sorta didn't want to spend more than thirty five or forty thousand dollars at the spend another ten thousand they can afford to do that. Well, I think you probably going to if you get out and start looking around you probably gonna end up back up with another three hundred. They haven't changed much since you got yours transmissions, now nine speed which is worked out, great that car with six older Pentastar, which has been a fantastic. Engine, I got thirty five miles to the gallon on the highway with the last one that I had which amazed to me, the other one, the reason I ask about price was, I was gonna suggest, maybe looking at a Genesis. GED which is just a great car. I think I think you're going to be pushing that fifty thousand dollar Mark though. So that's more like a sixty thousand dollar court right, exactly. In fact, I reviewed one last year. You can find it at car pro USA dot com. Bob,.

"I want to read a story in the LA times about the forager POSCO Bodnar so far reaching for wild food can be a little dangerous. You have to watch out for poisonous plants. You have to watch out for bears and snakes the Pasco was out in the woods one day. And he swears he saw. Zombie like like running around looking for brains kind of zombie and Pasquale charges in Los Angeles. So he looked again and sure enough there was a cameraman following zombie. And so everything was alright. But these days plus gal is impacting about the dead, but the rebirth. He seeing in native wild plants after the wildfires in that area. He sat on the chat about what it means to be a forager with our friend, Russ Parsons. Tell us a little bit about the foraging. You do. And then how you got into it. So I got into it. A premature grew up that way in Belgium. I grew up in a tiny little town, maybe like one thousand people from in town. And my grandma used to semi sometime into the forest the second, you get me some metals are one that's always I'm not. So that's what got me into. Forging. I never had this conception of being disconnected from nature from Dutt perspective. There is always food everywhere. Really what I really do is actually studied. The flavor over landscape or over the environment. So I can do that through California. Vermont something I go back to Belgium. Mark passion is really to. Discover what is the taste of location. Can you give us some examples like here in southern California? What are some of the things that you collect altogether? Is so many different things, you know, for example, mustard with mustard everywhere nominee does anything with mustard here in Los Angeles. People don't think about it as something edible. They all the ball. So a good one, for example will be the black mustard, which is really super invasive to you can make the most incredible Dijon mustard, but you can also grow for other plans like here in my hand. I I'd like a mountain vinegar, and basically vinegar that I make myself I make my own cider with Manzoni's Averis, and then I chose to vinegar and the nine chooses responding fine mushroom or defined wild berries. And if you smell it completely. Smothered mounting people. Absolutely go crazy on that one. So it's one way to look at the environment and can research a flavor. And being able to create continents out of it. What are some of the other ways that you preserve and the gentleman capture these flavors less time? I counted sixteen different method of food preservation, you can make wine I make. So does I'm making fusion, I can turn all the time making vinegar. I can make source condiments last week was making some mushroom ketchup. I can do an 0 of product really where do you collect these things? Do you have favorite hunting grounds for them? What you're looking forward dictate the environment that you're looking for it probably have two thousand acres of private property. So I do all my for you park property. And if it's not native don't care going to pick up dandelions, nobody wants to underline and by the way, ninety percent of the thing that I collect actually non-native because the native stuff is usually very strong. So I look at fourteen cotroversial a little bit. But I look at rushing as one way to our environment in the same time, and are you or are you in coastal plains are you hills? I'm not going up the place. You know, if I wanna make my Mountainview Negga, my friend called Gloria has a whole property, and she has what sixty acres opinion pine and white fir and so I just over them. Collect whatever I need. Centralists? I have some friends who have also property. Hazardous forest. All those hillside properties on everybody knows this winter was just horrible as far as wildfires were you affected by that. Yup. Humor show surfing. So what are you used to do here in Los Angeles forest? I owned that property I used to have my wife would garden. So I had a beer garden that created with native plant how despise Cowden decorate their native plant. It's so, you know in the same camera took a look at it. I'm going like, okay. How can I use that to be more creative? Can you? Tell us the first time you went back after the fires. What did you see this nothing? I mean, there was nothing. I've never seen something like that before. It's just completely black the some of the bigger tree us steel there. The oak tree our K survived the fire. But there was nothing left. I've never seen something like that. And the was. They can. Smoke everywhere. Yeah. You're scary. A little bit. Yeah. But interesting parties are really and I'm not a button, I know. But from my perspective, I'm really seeing the nitty Frank coming back and not the native country. She's interesting. So the environment is covering itself to some degree and. I see much more native plant growing right now than than ever before as fast as interesting, you you have contact Megawati she's showing up while the essence. Brush giant nettles? So this is all like native plants that are really taking off and enough grass. So the heels had actually turning green right now. It's interesting. The all these people used to do that on purpose? Process of regeneration. So I'm still learning is a fantastic learning process to she has ROY has it was I'm looking at it more from an educational experience and see what I can learn from it. Oh, thank you Pascall. It's wonderful. Well, thank you so much of pressure to be here..
