"Against it This gun Bill is a perfect example right It's 14 Republicans who just sold this out in the Senate side Yes And that's a red line there I mean that's the one issue over the last 30 years really that the mainstream Republican Party So if you look at if you look at since Eisenhower gave his momentous exit speech his going away speech The Republican Party's nominees have been Richard Nixon two bushes John McCain Mitt Romney and then there is then there's Reagan and Trump two of these things are not like the other And so this is the reality of the fact that you're aligned with this party has hated its base for decades It has as I saw I tweet out today that the difference between the new populist right and the mainstream right is that we don't favor corporations over God and our traditions And the mainstream right has always done that It was always about it was always up to Chevron doctrine more than overturning roe It was always about the two state solution more than let's move the embassy to Jerusalem And it's always been that way which has changed is when the corporations got woke in and they no longer even pretended to fly the flag and even wink at our belief system That mainstream right now they got exposed Now they couldn't triangulate off of that anymore And so I think a lot of people are pardon the pun getting woke politically just not necessarily in the way the other side had

Friends Creator Marta Kaufman Is Ashamed There Were No Blacks

"About that. You see this story about the co creator of the TV sitcom Friends, she's planning to donate $4 million to an African and African American studies project because she's so embarrassed by the guilt she feels, but the white homogeneity of the characters on that sitcom and that coming of age series is didn't have enough black characters in it. This is so gross. Marta Kauffman was one of the creators of Friends. And she told people that she intends for a plan gift to fund the Mara F kauf in 1978 professorship in African and African American studies at her Alma mater, brandeis university, which is a liberal arts college in Massachusetts. She said it was initially difficult and frustrating to see Friends criticize for its lack of diverse characters in a show that ran for ten years and after premiered 94, as you know, that show earned tens and tens and tens of millions of dollars in syndication and streaming for its creators and cast Aniston Cox could draw Leblanc Perry and schwimmer. "He retired the last two years. In my mind, they had more prepared guys to coach that position in those spots. So you can say overall the coaching staff. Because when he first retired, Dante scarnecchia, they had googs in the building, right? I can't say I'm gonna call him boobs, right? Who's in the building? It didn't work out long term with goose, but he was a really, he's a good offensive line. Are you still coaching offensive line in the league now? He's one of the better ones. Then you had the coal pop of it, Carmen bracelet, brain trust, post scarnecchia, that was basically, and they still run Dante scarnecchia system now. But they were just fresh off of learning under Dante's Carnegie. Now, who's coaching offensive line, mat Patricia? Is it Billy Yates? Billy Yates, I guess, is probably the, it's kind of like Troy Brown versus Joe judge, right? Let's hope it's Billy. Right. Okay. So if it's Billy Yates, I feel a little bit better about it. Again, they're still going to run scar system. They're still going to consult Dante scarnecchia. But I don't think that there is as automatic of a feeling that you can take Mike on Wendy in the 6th round and turn him into a diamond, right? I don't know if there's that on a Mac. Now, the positive I keep having with tackle is, I don't know if Trevor penning is there. Like, I don't mean there at 21. I mean, developmental wise in terms of his technique and all that kind of stuff. He needs coaching. Like he needs coaching. And he needs to get good coaching and to get at the most out of him. He's got to control his aggression. He's got to limit the penalties. He's got to work on some things technique wise in his assets. He's not a home run thing. You also look at Bernard Raven's only made 18 starts in his entire life at offensive line. So he needs seasoning. He needs coaching. So do any of those guys, to me, I don't know if handing those guys off to Bill Yates and Matt Patricia is really going to be the best thing in the world for those players. So that gives me a ton of pause with those two tackles. And they're going to go offensive line as much as I hate it. The best thing for their coaching staff is probably to take a guy like Zion Johnson who they don't have to touch. You just put in that left guard. You don't have to touch them. And it's over. And it worries me at 21. Do they have the coaching staff in the infrastructure to coach penning up? I'll give you one.

"This draft at areas of need for the Patriots and actually check a lot of patriots boxes. Like Jahan Dodson outline receiver, a BK on the edge, rasheed walker at tackle Brandon Smith at linebacker. Juwan brisker, thank you at safety. Those guys all played like patriots. They all have patriot states. They all look like patriots. And if they had Alabama on their Jersey instead of Penn State, we would all be talking about John Dodson like we're talking about John metchie. Like it's really that simple. And I think that a lot of those guys, you know, even like a guy like Jessie Luke later on in the draft is somebody that I think plays a lot like a patriot. So I'm very interested to see how they approach Penn State. Brandon Smith at linebacker, extremely athletic, 6 foot three, 250 pounds. Like in terms of checking their size thresholds and bringing some athleticism to the second level. He checks every single box for them. But he's a Penn State guy. So we'll see what happens. And then I'll give you one more set of numbers here because we're running along we'll wrap this up, but the schools they draft the most from. So since 2000, it's actually not Alabama. Alabama is tied for a second. Since 2000, they've drafted 9 players from Florida. Most of those are pre 2012. Right. So that's a little skewed than Alabama and Michigan 8 Georgia Arkansas 7. If we want to just do the last decade, Alabama 7 Arkansas, Michigan 5, Rutgers four, and then there's a bunch of schools with three. So to me, like a lot of the draft is looking at trends. We talked a lot about this on the show. They like to make more than 8 ticks. They've only taken three linemen in the top 100 in the last ten years. This is and look, the trends are true until they break them, right? Right. I was sitting here pat on the table that we're monitoring Stevenson was going to red shirt because that's what history told us entirely. And then it didn't happen. But a lot of the draft is simply looking at trends. And that's kind of why I wanted to talk about this. I know I kind of shoved it into the end of the small draft show,.

"Can see that. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that a guy like Jermaine Johnson falls. But we can pull it up. One of these edge guys is going to fall. There's just so much walker Hutchinson, you know, thibodeau. We had to get to 8. Some people think he's a potential first overall pick. I would put an excuse me, I would put Jordan Davis in that group. 'cause I think he's that exposed of an athlete. Devonte Wyatt and all these guys, George karloff, it's like somebody's gonna fall. For us, it was Johnson. Yeah. But somebody's gonna fall. Carlos is filled too. In terms of the Patriots at 21, I know a lot of people want a corner. I hear you. I think dadson hill or Tyler Gordon could come into the conversation if they were able to trade out of that pick. If we had them trade out of 21 because Jermaine Johnson wasn't there, right? And it was the rest of the guys that were there. Then I think they go end up going DB with that pick. But they're a DB in the second round type of team. That's just what they do, right? Outside of Devin McCourty, that's what they do. From everything that you hear about the Patriots and I get that this time of year, I treat everything with the Patriots as a giant grain of salt. There's no real solid information coming out of there. But getting somebody close to the ball, getting someone in the trenches or closer to the line of scrimmage, I think is what their ultimately thinking, whether it's offensive line or defensive line. We end up going defensive line with a guy like Jermaine Johnson, or edge defender, whatever you want to call it. So I think that they would ultimately leaning towards trenches here at this pic. I think it's going to be trading out. I think the trade out of the pick, move into the back end of the first round or the early second round and get their daxton hill or get their kylo Gordon or get somebody like.

"All right. Excuse me, sorry. I can go, I don't think it's Wyatt. I don't think they'll take Wyatt. They could take an offensive lineman too. Their offensive line didn't get kind of banged up late last year. Yeah, but they're going to take an offensive lineman and maybe it's like Zion Johnson. I think they take an offensive lineman. I don't think it will be Raymond. I think they have to take a guy that's going to play plug and play, right? Is this center right now? I can't remember off the top of my head. They could take lender bombing. He's probably the best pure player. Carla this though is a little bit rashawn Gary like. We just said they have to take an offensive player to keep Rogers happy. Yeah, I don't know if you think a center keeps her Rogers happy. I don't know. He might. So the centers on the Ross right now are Jason Hansen, Michael Bennet and Josh Myers. Yeah, I think Myers starring for them last year if I remember correctly. So yeah, they took him in the second round last year, yeah. So probably not a center. So I think it's either I think it might be Christian Watson. I honestly do. All right. We're getting really weird now, but I love it. It's not like that weirdo, right? Because you're giving him to teams that have histories of taking these types of players and developing them. Like he's either going to Kansas City or Green Bay in the first round, I think. Yeah. So Christian Watson. This one here is Wyatt. They need a run stopper. Yeah, I could see them taking Wyatt. Yep, the way this broken at least. I know there's a lot of buzz out there that why it's not going around one, but we'll see. Saints are back on the board they already took a tackle. I still like Carl Loftus for them. Yeah, they get a steal here in Karl off this. Yeah, I don't mind it out of it. Cam Jordan also getting up there. So yeah, that could be looking to move on there. The bills, the corner, I could see them liking booth better than elam. Yeah, definitely. I think that the way that they run mostly zone based, I would say Andrew booth junior mostly his own base corner. They love to take chances or their draft profile is very athletic, very explosive players, Alan and Oliver, that type, yeah. So I'm sold on them like Andrew birthday, the only other option here I know, bill's Twitter is talking a lot about running backs. And a guy like priest hall. You know what? No, 'cause we gotta take some of these guys. First round. I agree with you. Booth. Booth. This one finally is a guard. Actually, it might be winter bomb. Yeah, I think they can get linder bomb here. They would be ecstatic. He might be the best lineman in the draft period. He's a center, so he falls. But just in terms of tape and everything that you look at, he might be the best offensive lineman in the entire draft and they're getting here right now..

The Steelers don't fire coaches though. That's their whole thing. They don't. I don't know if they fire him, but he might. Mutually. It's candy pick. Pittsburgh kid plays stays in Pittsburgh, makes a lot of sense. Yeah. All right, can he pick it? All right, here we are. This is exactly how I see this playing out. Like exactly. Yeah. Yeah, none of the fun name left. None of the fun names are left. What do you do if your Bill Belichick, there is a team here? We've only got one team calling. It's a Buccaneers. I still would take the trade down, right? Like I'd still do it, just to get the pick because none of these guys here are 21 make much sense. I don't know where you're going to go with this. I'm the biggest Andrew booth junior fan there is. I just don't love it. Here at this point in the draft would be some of the things that scheme fit just, I don't know, I don't think when I say I don't love it, I mean, I don't think they will do it, right? I don't think Andrew's look is their guy. Clemson, 15 games of tape, injuries. I just don't think he's their guy. At this point, probably the guys I would think that they were a target would be one of three guys. Dax hill obviously from Michigan, Kyler Gordon from Utah. And maybe quay walker from Georgia at this point. Well, so somebody did point out, we actually didn't take them. Jermaine Johnson's still here. That's interesting how he made it here without taking him, right? Yeah. I guess the eagles try to think, where do we miss? I think maybe the eagles instead of Devin Lloyd could have potentially taken Jermaine Johnson. But it's amazing how, let's say we 18 the eagles day Jermaine Johnson at Devin Lloyd, that's how easy it is for one of these guys to fall, right? Like that's how easy it is to highlight your main jobs in the fall. I think he's a great fit. No, we should take him with the Chargers at 7. That's what it was. Yeah, they traded it out, right? Yeah. So maybe the Chargers still get them. The Chargers at what 23. We know the packers are probably going to go receiver here. What the Patriots probably take him at this point though? I would think the Patriots would take him if we're going to just go off of this is what happened and we have to take the best player for the Patriots here. Jermaine Johnson, I think probably the best run defender in the entire draft is from a fundamental standpoint. Since the edge sees it very well, really, really good run defender in every sense of the word. He doesn't have the cornering ability or like the turn the edge type of pass rush that people covet in the top ten. So I could see him falling into the teens for that reason, right? I don't think he's as fluid as loose as bursty and bendy of an edge rusher as what teams would prefer higher on in the draft. I never would imagine a situation where Jermaine Johnson ends up here. I think maybe we botched a pick here or two to get him here. But based off the way this is gone, we have to take Jermaine Johnson. I would say or trade out. I saw the trade out as a possibility here and they could view it that way too. So it would be a first, a third picture third. They might rather do that..

"Yeah, why it's stock for some reason has been sliding a little bit, a lot of reports out there that he might fall out of the first round. I'm not exactly sure what that's all about. It's got other than to deal with what the chat was talking about earlier. It was Adam Anderson, not the von de Wyatt. I don't know what's going on with devonte Wyatt stock. This is a tough spot for the Chargers because nobody really fell to them here, right? They didn't get anybody that they might want, I could see mcduffie being a pick here. That type of system. I mean, I think they would prefer defensive linemen if they could. I think that would be ideal, an interior defensive lineman, but Davis is gone. So it's got to be either Wyatt here or mcduffie if they're going to make the pick, I think. Well, so the cardinals are calling. And they could definitely use a corner. Yeah. I'm trying to see, yeah, okay, so I have a lot of sense from a scheme perspective. I think Trent mcduffie Buddha baker, like those kinds of players are kind of the Cardinals jam at corner, right? I mean, that's sort of what they do. So I could see them try to come up here for a guy like mcduffie, if they don't think he's gonna make it much further. So I want a three in a future three gets it done. Yeah. Give up 5 spots, 6. Yeah, I mean, if the cardinals, I think the biggest problem for the cardinals is you're just trying to make Kyler Murray happy. I don't know if a corner necessarily makes Kyler Murray happy, but whatever. Where can they add on offense to make them happy? The only other thing they could have gotten there is waiting at 23 and taken Linda bomb, right? That's incredible. But I hear you. All right, eagles here at 18. This is Devin Lloyd. Yeah. They've no line backers. They have like no NFL linebackers on their roster. Yeah. I'm with you. So we already picked penny with the saints. I am going to pitch a trade here. Oh, I actually really like this. I really like it. Everyone wants to move up. He's desperate to move up. Jerry always wants up. The saints know that they might need a quarterback next year. They're going to try to get some of those future assets. Right. So they're actually going to, let me look at the real.

"So the thing is like, yeah, Sam caused me as they're starting tackle. They took him the second round last year and he was good last year, but there's some speculation that he'd be better at a guard. Yes. So if you take cross, you can move Cosby inside, or they just go Stanley, or at this point stingley's fallen too far and they take them. Yeah, it might be that. I don't know. I think that Houston would love to come away with sting Lee at 13. So I don't know if Washington if it's worth it to Washington to move back to spots and Minnesota, they just took dari style last year. They're not going to take a tackle here. So I could see them trying to pull off a trade here at this pick, maybe move back a couple spots, still get their guy. That sort of thing. I think Nick is would love to have Derek stingley and Evan Neal as his package in the first round here. The only problem is Washington doesn't have a third. So they have to like seriously overpay to do this. You'd be that. Well, why is Washington giving up another pick to move down? No washed is moving. Oh, you're right, you're right, you're right. Yes. So it would be Houston needs to give up the third. So it would be that. It would be that. Yeah. For Derek stingley, I think it's worth it. I think it's worth it. All right. All right, this thing's being weird. All right, there is Derek stingley. This I think is Kyle Hamilton. Minnesota. Yeah. Very similar to Harrison Smith who's probably on his way out. Yeah, Harrison Smith, good cop there. Yeah. A lot of people can say another Notre-Dame. Kyle Hamilton, at least a top 5 player in this draft, if not better, right? Just in terms of pure talent. But you have the issues with safeties and all that kind of stuff. And he didn't run as fast as you would want him to run to be a real impact safety. I think Minnesota would love to come away with Kyle Hamilton here. He's not a corner. He's still makes their secondary better as a whole. And I still think that it hurts and Smith and Kyle Hamilton couldn't play together until Harrison Smith calls a career. So.

"Here. I don't know if I love the scheme fit for a mod gardener in lovey smith's defense though. There are covered two scheme predominantly. They run everything out of that foundation of cover two. I think you're putting them on Gardner and covered two. You're kind of wasting some of his talent. His length, his ability to play the deep part of the field, gets kind of wasted playing down, right, playing the flat or playing that cover two hole. So I look at this and I say that they would ideally and we'll see if this goes this way for them in our mock draft. Would like to get Evan Neal and Derek stingley. With their top two picks, and I don't think it's that crazy to think that they could do that. So I think they'd take Neil here and then try to cross their fingers that Derek stingley makes it to them at 13. Well, I think I'm still not convinced that every team is the Garner singly thing. But that one of the corners make it to 13. Well, so I want to explain because if you're in agreement with Devin Neal at three to Houston, we can just make that pick and then we can. Okay, so now we're at this is a corner. To me, this is the and I say this as a patriots reporter and patriots fans might not like to hear this, but the best matchup or best combination of scheme fit and talent. Is Ahmad Gardner to the New York Jets at four. A perfect player, a perfect corner for Robert Salas scheme, right? They're gonna run that Seattle three. It's three. It's four. It's a lot of the same things that they did in Seattle and in San Francisco and the best player comp I've heard and what I see when I watch them on Gardner is Richard Sherman, which is the ideal corner to have in that kind of system. I think that they would be doing jumping jacks in the draft room in New York and east Rutherford, New Jersey..

"Plus 49 and 44 minutes. So without green, that new death lineup can absolutely give them some spread until you bring draymond back and really kill it. Like they've got multiple centers to play with those for you got amazing speed and Wiggins and pool, then you got the shooters and stuff in clay and then of course with draymond is a facilitator defender. They've got they've got 6 different guys, so two different groups that I think really can finish games very, very well. Draymond's and foul trouble or whatever kaban can fill that gap. So I've had Phoenix and walking all year, I used to have Milwaukee breeding the champions at some point this year, maybe three months ago. I said, yeah, I think so when it. But I do agree the biggest challenge if they're healthy is because we know what goes they can get. We saw it earlier this season for a long time. Forget about previous years. I think this is a perfect way for the warriors to get healthy and get some momentum in and around too. And the winner of this year's least interesting series award. Are there Milwaukee Bucks, the defending champs against the Chicago Bulls who were having a great season and then injuries just took it apart and those injuries have spanned from Lonzo Ball to Alex Caruso to pat Williams who just came back to Zach lavine dealing with some knee stuff toward the end of the season. They are now have a negative point differential for the season. The bucks are the bucks. We know who the bucks are. They barely have to travel for this series. They can take the train if they want, they can hop in an Uber, I don't know, they can just they can bike there if they really want to get adventurous. They got no answer for honest. I don't even know who they're going to try to use on him. I don't know that it matters. The bucks have drew holiday and Chris Middleton to put on Levine and Derozan and Giannis can do whatever the hell he wants. I don't really care. Is there any can you sell me sell me on this one? I mean, I'm going to watch it. Can you sell me out? Can you sell me on the bulls having any kind of chance here? No, definitely not. I'll say two things. One is this is why they drafted pet Williams from my son joined the team after pat had already left, but I pay attention to those guys. This is why, I mean, not to say when deserving anyway, but you better draft a gigantic monster forward like him when you've got Giannis 90 minutes away from you. And not even maybe in his prime fully. Like this guy still can get better and has this year. But he's not ready. I mean, even if he's not he's hopefully all year, he's not ready to stop Giannis. Giannis tries to he always tries to dunk on teams. I've never seen him try to dunk more than what he does against the bulls. He knows no one can mess with him. He just tries to duck everything and the only thing I'm interested in and this is nothing to do with who's going to win the game because it won't matter. But we know the bucks don't care if you shoot your threes. And they really don't care booth which is the reason. He shoots more the reason against them than 18 in the east. I want to see if he'll shoot ten and a half. He gets 5 a game, which is 5.5. Dude, just do ten and a half and let's see what they do. I'd like to see coach Donald in a long time friend of mine. Just say screw it. Derozan got a bunch of points against them, but they were blowout games. It didn't even matter. The only chance we have is to make them do something different and maybe they'll put Yanis on him to guard the three if he's hitting them. Maybe they'll get Lopez out there. He doesn't want to go out there. Let's just get 23s a game from our center's position and see if we can't muck things up a little bit, but I don't think that's likely to happen. That's about it. So I was searching for flights for August when you were talking about why this series is interesting. Whatever you said, I assume it involved Betty the bull and his popcorn orgies that he has in the crowd. I didn't catch any of it. No, I did catch some of it. I do think that's the only interesting angle here is this is the all threes defense, like Milwaukee's above the break threes. Unless you're a great shooter, have at it against a team that I think was last in 3.8. It doesn't even want above the break three. I guess that's kind of interesting. You mentioned vucevic, he just, you know, look, I'm wrong about a lot of things. We all are going to be wrong about a lot of things. I admit when I'm wrong and all the time, but I just remember when that voodoo trade happened, there was a rush of Orlando angst like that's all we got for Nikola vucevic, our franchise player and a rush of like here come the balls, great move by AK and the new front office, they're charging and obviously that move became a building block to other moves. But I remember feeling like not on an island but in the definite minority of I kind of like this trade for Orlando. I think Wendell Carter junior is pretty good. They got two lightly protected first round picks. One of them turned into Franz Wagner. They still have another one coming. A year later, vujovic shot 31% on threes. Now 54% on Tuesday's pretty good. 17 a game, 11 rebounds, still never gets to the foul line, defensively he's still man..

"He lovingly describes certain actions and the nuances and the angles and with Boston, he's right. I was watching Tatum and brown tape this morning. Yes, of course they're going to pick on Seth curry. He said, no, that's coming. He probably feels it like an ant with a magnifying glass. He knows it's coming. And it's going to come and it's going to be relentless, but it's also going to be textured. It's not just throwing the ball to jaylen Brown get out of the way. That's what that's how Brooklyn plays offense. It's going to be multiple screens and get game into screens and pin down seals against him. They're going to attack him from different levels at different levels at different times with different people. And I think Brooklyn defending that. And again, not just Seth curry, of course, but all of it with Tatum and brown cable of scoring 30 plus and any of those games. And on the other end, basically run a pick and roll, or refuse the screen, let Katie shoot a 26 footer over someone, that is mentally taxing too because they're not computer take plays off defensively. Katie likes to roam, Boston will punish him for that for sure. And yeah, Marcus smart, we know what he can do. I wonder, to me the most intriguing thing about guarding the nets would be, do you we call jump switching? Do you switch up into Durant and make him drive all the time? You would never do that against almost anyone else not name Steph Curry and no ever 7 footer would you do that in since Dirk. And Durant is good enough to go buy you, but that takes an energy too. And just keep making him attack. Don't let he wants to shoot over you. Get the shooting against air. He's back at home in the gym just shooting. So I like the idea of playing them sometimes. You just can't foul. That's the one scary thing, but jumping into his space is sometimes your foul. Try not to foul, make him keep driving, especially going left. If he pulls up, just can test or try to block it, make it tough on him that way. I think I watched his body language Zach when he does LeBron sometimes and when he sees a teammate do some silly or when a teammate says something stupid and press conference afterwards and Katie's got to say, all right guys, can we please not kick them and already get them fired up by saying they're not the same rub Williams. I looked he looked frustrated and sometimes he gets it on the court. We're like, hey, do I have to do this too? The truth is he can be Superman every game, but over time that takes a toll on defensive special and that's where I think the nets will lose a series. They just will guard good enough consistently enough. Yeah, and when Durant does have the ball, they're going to mix it up. Sometimes they won't switch they'll play traditional pick and roll defense. Sometimes they'll throw a hard trap at them. And when they do overload the floor toward those guys, I mean, Durant and Irving are maybe the two best guys in the whole world at playing in tight spaces and figuring it out. It's just very hard work. The Celtics are also an elite elite transition defense team in part because they're so big and switchable. They don't have to worry about who's supposed to guard who. Oh my God, I'm supposed to guard that guy. And the nets are a great fast breaking team and I think the Celtics can take some of that away. Just curious. If Simmons comes back, I'm just not sure that changes my outlook enough because I don't know, I wouldn't start him if I were Steve Nash. I would bring him off the bench. I don't know how many minutes he's going to give me. But I'm just curious, I'm assuming that four fifths of the net's best lineup currently without Joe Harris are Kyrie Irving, Seth curry, Kevin Durant, and Ben Simmons. And I'm asking you, coach, who's the 5th guy in that lineup because your choices are between small guards and great shooting small guards, some shakier shooters, maybe Kessler Edwards in between. Who do you pick in that 5th spot or a center? You could put a center like a Drummond in that spot. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Maybe they would go center just because you need more rim protection. I think that I'm not talking to your question, but I think the Ben Simmons thing is, I think he's going to probably end up being a net negative. He is going to be able to guard Tatum or brown better than what you'd probably expect because that's the easiest proposition when you first come back when you're Ben Simmons. You're that kind of on ball defender. Where I think you'll have is trouble is all fall. Again, the Celtics don't play like the nets. The Celtics run stuff and I would think already the Celtics have a list. I'm a sheet of paper with all their actions to put Simmons in off ball away from the ball. Making me quick decisions rapidly. They've not done as a team all season with him. Target him, don't talk to him on the ball. Talking to him off the ball and then eat off that. And then where are you playing offensively? He's never played with these guys before. This is a hard damn game and it's the postseason and the Celtics without Robert Williams are still very good with them. They're monstrous. For Ben Simmons, I wrote this at come out later today. It's like not driving for a couple years and then pulling in a Manila or Rome and expecting to get around. Like you and I can figure it out, we drive every day. But if you don't, you're going to be a little bit gun shy in a sense. And I think Ben Simmons against this team with all those weapons is not going to be good off the ball defensively. And offensively, forget about it. Why would we think he's going to be great offensively? I don't know if he plays. I think to me they've talked there's so much smoke. I don't see any fire. I think they're probably better off that he doesn't play a month ago, play him, and he'd be fine, but I don't think you want to come in this series having not played at all expect to be good. Interesting. I think the answer to my own question is Bruce Brown. The other thing I'm looking at is nets became a sneaky good offensive rebounding team. And in Boston switches a lot, they risk having their small guys on Andre Drummond trying to box them out, but no team is better at getting that second switch behind the play and kicking Marcus smart out if they need to kick Marcus smart out or Peyton Pritchard out and putting a bigger guy onto Drummond. Now I'm going Celtics in 6. They close it out in Barclays in game 6 and they get their revenge on Kyrie. My fourth ranked one, which might have been higher, if not for the news that Luka Dončić is going to miss game one and him missing game one with the cap strain gives me the heebie jeebies as you get a missed game too. Is he going to miss game three? Is he going to be the same guy? Is the four 5 series in the west between the rising Dallas Mavericks and the reeling Utah Jazz who went 23 and 24 in their last 47 games. That's not very good. They still have the third best point differential in the NBA despite that and the number one offense and they appear to be the healthier team. Look, it sounds like a cop out, but my prediction is going to be was going to be Dallas in some amount of long amount of games with Luca without Luca. I'm leaning toward Utah. Let's just sort of for the sake of ease assume that he misses the first two games of the series. The game's one or two and then he comes back and he's like actual Luca. Like if he's hobbled Luca obviously that changes things, but it's just more fun to talk about this series as if these teams are at full strength for most of it. This looks like an all offense series..

"He'll kick to his shooters on the side and then there'll be two on the ball up high in a four on three that kind of starts doing like Memphis knows how to do that and I think that Dylan Brooks thing is a big deal because the wolves hid D'angelo Russell on Zaire Williams or John kanchar or whoever the third guy was in all the games Dylan Brooks missed. There's no safe hiding place for him anymore in Dylan Brooks is obviously a good defender, a good score. I think that's a big deal. So I just, I get why Minnesota is kind of a sexy pick. I just don't see it. I'm going grizz. Yeah, so one thing that remember I said at the beginning of this, where Minnesota excels, so does Memphis. So look at it this way. Memphis does turn them all over more when John Moran's in the game. When he's not the game, they just don't turn the ball over. They're one of the best teams in the league. And I think ty Jones is top few in the sense of rubber ratio. He's become one of the best, if not the best, most reliable backup point guard in the league. And so if you're a Minnesota bench, bench edge, bench edge big time for members. Huge huge if you bring a soda if morant's in, yeah, we can travel a little more, but we got to deal with John morant when the rants out, well, we don't get any fast breaks, which we really thrive on that. So I think that's a huge advantage for Memphis. And I've been saying for weeks now, I am not one of these guys who doesn't think depth matters in the postseason. I've been watching it for 45 to 46 years now. Guys, tweak an ankle her to knee, get a Charlie horse and again, you know, bumped in their thigh. They get in foul trouble like stuff happens in the postseason. No team is better prepared for that than Memphis and don't forget if their best player has to miss a quarter or a half or even most of the game are all of the game. No team is more confident they can handle that than the Memphis Grizzlies. They've been doing this for a while and I've not missed a beat. So I think add all those things up, pat bev's amazing. I'm thankful that you said what you said because I used to think you shouldn't celebrate so you win the last game. And then I grew up and realized most teams don't care. It's one thing if you're playing 12 hours later. They didn't play in 12 hours later. Their professional basketball players, they won't even think about one thing about what just happened. That will be ready. I celebrated I celebrate, I celebrate when I beat my wife at ping Pong, okay? So they can celebrate the.

"And if you don't think Abu is potentially happening, well, maybe you know more than me because I think there's potential there. If he is laying some eggs and then let's see if he's not thinking about his legacy then. That'll be what's interesting to me. If things don't go great in games one or two at some point. It actually raises an interesting dilemma where so they've been amazing with the two of them on the floor. Yeah. They've been horrible with one of them on the floor. Horrible. And now just against Toronto with just embiid, bad with just hard and bad. It raises an interesting dilemma like all the smart basketball people for years and years at the stagger them stagger stagger. I wonder if you should just play them together for like 36 minutes a game and just pray to God I can survive the other 12 with like a random maxi three and a random Tobias Harris three and freaking cork Myers and his beard hit a couple threes and then we just like limp to 6 minutes because Hardin and Deandre Jordan it's been a disaster. Doc is not gonna trust Paul Reed. You can say let's go niang at center and just shoot the hell out of it. You're gonna bleed points. I don't think I'm being extreme. They're not gonna play them every second together, but I do wonder if he's gonna air on like let's maximize their minutes together and just close our eyes and try to gut through the minutes that they sit. Let me ask a simpler question you mentioned in beads defense and him guarding siakam. He's gonna guard different players in this series. Let's just zoom way out. Who do you think Toronto starts in this series? What is their starting 5? Your options are your 5 best players, which is van vliet Barnes and anomie Trent siakam at center. Then you can bring trend off the bench and option B and start precious to chua at center. Or they've tried Kim birch, et cetera, which gives Joel a very easy place to guard. If you're Nick nurse, which option do you go with and which option do you think he goes with? I probably start small right away and again with the idea is it's a marathon and get into Joel making cover as make him always be accountable for space, meaning he's got to make a decision on my health. He is their rent protector. And so now every members stress is not just physical stress. It's also mental and emotional stress. You have to get Joel thinking about his coverages. What am I supposed to do? Make him a focus energy mental energy on the defensive side. Knowing you could you're going to play Kim and your precious and you're going to play Chris. You're going to play all of them at some point. You can mix up when you do it depending on who else in the game for Philly. But I like the idea if you're Toronto of making Joel at compete on both ends every second. He's on the court, hoping he gets tired and fourth quarters, and then in every series, every game going forward, a little bit earlier, a little bit earlier a little bit earlier. That's why it's also important that Toronto always stay connected, Zach, quick timeouts, every 8 or run timeout. 6 one run timeout if you need to because if you let them get ahead a little bit and he gets rest there, that just that impacts future games too. Oh, and cork, I'm glad you mentioned him. He's a sneaky X Factor because he's been shooting badly. He's a good shooter. It just hasn't gone great from this year, and I think they need him. He's an energetic guy, competitive guy. If you let Scotty Barnes is happy not to guard you. Let's face it. He wants to play center field. And so if you have a guy that isn't shooting well, Scotty is mucking things up. He's incredible. His feel is amazing and he's long and strong. And active and energetic if cork mods is stroking it and Scotty has no one else to kind of hide off of that takes away from Toronto's defense. I half expect Scottie Barnes and some of these games he's roving so much like, you know what, I'm hungry. That guy in the second row has some popcorn. Let me just see if I can sneak out there and Nick nurse won't even notice because this is just what I do. I would, I think I might start a chew up and give myself size speed, switchability on harden and sneakily, he shot 36 or 37% on threes this season, got more and more confident. He took one three as a rookie. Zero for one. And now he's like taking threes off the dribble, and that forces him bead to guard him and maybe he's gonna be in the corner and I've got to run around a little bit more. I think embiid will guard Scottie Barnes a lot in some lineups where Barnes is the worst shooter on the floor, including the one siakam at center. I'm really interested in that and I'm most interested in just the turnover battle because Toronto is a great ball protection team and they force a ton of turnovers. Philly takes care of the ball really well in offense. Philly's got to dominate free throws, dominate free throws because Toronto is an aggressive reaching team and obviously Philly gets the line all the time. And just the way they guard hearted and embiid two man game, I think they've telegraphed it in previous games. They are just not going to let hard and hit embiid with pocket passes. They're going to do everything to prevent that. And in fact, if you watch the most recent game, they had like a three or four minute stretch in the third quarter, I think, were they just let hard and go into the lane. Like the guy, the guy guarding embiid, who was Ken burch, just like hugged embiid and hardened his expecting help there. And they're like, oh no, you just go, like, we'll help off everybody else. We're just not leaving and be it was very jarring and unusual and of Nick nursing thing to do. I don't know who I'm picking in this series, but here's my gut pick right off the bat. I think I'm gonna go Philly in 7..

"one round" Discussed on The Lowe Post

"Now, the low post. Welcome to the low post podcast. It's Friday morning. The play in his ending tonight with two really exciting games and the NPA playoffs begin on Saturday tomorrow with four games and it is time for what used to be our 8 by 8 annual tradition where coach David Thorpe of true hoop and I give 8 minute previews of a playoff series. Now because of the play and really the only downside of the plan, I don't think Adam silver took into account the impact of the play in on the 8 by 8 gimmick, which now has to be a 6 by 6 gimmick and maybe nod to a couple other series, but we're gonna go rapid fire every playoff series all the angles, all the X's and O's, coach star, how are you? Are you ready to go? Are you ready for the playoffs? I'm as ready as I can ever be after preparing for this and a few other things that I have to do. There's a lot to cover, a lot of scholarship to gain, and then as you said before we started, you can throw some of it out once the game starts, but a lot of it we won't, like we know what we're getting and a lot of these series. We just don't know what the consequences will be because these are some great match ups. Yeah. It's going to be fun to talk about. Big picture, we got the bucks who didn't quite tank into the third seed. They kind of just moon walk to their kind of fell gently onto the pillow of the third seed, forcing the Celtics to effectively choose on the last day of the season between two 7 likely Brooklyn four 5 a date with the raptors in Toronto and all that going to Canada entails. We got the sons who loom as the overall favorite. I think to win the championship after a 64 win season, we got a whole lot of other stuff, but coach, as usual, I ranked the 6th series from most interesting to least interesting. I am a dictator, my rankings are based only on my own entertainment value. Nobody else is no other factors. Can you guess which series I'm guessing top your most entertaining list and my most entertaining list in our starting point for this 6 by 6 podcast? Yeah. There was never a doubt it's Philly Toronto. And maybe it would have been filling anybody because to me the story of James Harden Joel embiid the sixers is maybe the most dramatic of anything. But the fact that it's Toronto and in Canada, their best defender won't be playing siakam is playing out of his mind. What's going to happen with Doc Rivers? What's going to happen with Hardin and envied? How good are the raptors without with a rookie playing point center forward shooting guard, small forward? I can't wait for it to start. I think everyone feels the same way. This is the one. This is the one. And everyone is saying everyone in their mother, not just everyone. Everyone in their mother and their uncle is saying that this is a nightmare matchup for the heavyweight star laden Philadelphia 76ers who indeed lost two games to the raptors once they acquired James Harden, James Harden had 30 points combined in those two games and I think 9 of 24 shooting or something very bad. They kept him off the foul line and we know conceptually why this is a nightmare matchup for Philly, right? Hardin has not looked like harden in quite a while now for any number of consistent games and the raptors are gonna throw all of these freaking 6 8 long fast dudes at him and he couldn't get by those guys one on one when they played. They're going to play the hardened embiid pick and roll in very interesting ways. I think they're gonna just shut off and beat in that action. They're not gonna let harden hit him with pocket passes. They're gonna say you're gonna beat us with a drive or your shooters are gonna beat us with threes. We're not letting you slip those pocket passes to embiid, which are layups for him. And of course, they're going to double and triple and quadruple and throw the whole kitchen sink and refrigerator at embiid in the post and force him to give up the ball and they're a great defensive team in their own rate. We can talk about rebounding and turnovers and how Toronto dominates the possession game night after night. But let me zoom out, coach. Yeah. Well, first of all, let's start. Do you agree with all of that that this is on paper for all those reasons and more that you can elaborate on a bad matchup for the sixers? Well, I would even go a little further. It's not a great matchup for anyone. Toronto's just the way they play the second half of the season. To your point about the long defenders, here's the things Zack, when they don't give you the long defender, they give you one of the best under 6 three defenders in the world and Fred van vliet. So it's not like you can take a play off now that you know van vliet on you and feel like, okay, we can score no matter what. Nick nurse is truly innovative and empowered. I think that's a really important point. There are coaches who I believe would do more if they felt like, well if it doesn't work out, I'm not going to get fired. Well, Nick nurse is not worried about where his next paycheck coming from. I don't know where we'll be Toronto. Everyone wants them all the time. He's good enough to go in any job that's open and someone have to use a draft pick or two to get them. So he is empowered. I was going to say, I would love to be, I would love to be messiah Yuri and get the call from the Lakers. Hey, we want Nick nurse is coach. All right, so how many unprotected picks do you have? Well, that's not enough. How about AD? How about could we get AD from you? Like, okay. So imagine being Nick nurse, there's nothing you can't try and not that the 6 year old have good players, of course they do, and they've got some shooters, but you can really try to be innovative to bother Joel embiid. You can try different things. You can adjust on the flight of no worries about what did the press going to say..

"The shooting is just, it can go downhill very fast. Yes, but I think I have to imagine spot will have them stayed home a little bit more in that scenario. That would be a fun one. So your number one was nets bucks. Yes. And we all saw the preview. Yeah, no explanation needed. No explanation needed. We saw it last year. We got classic basketball. It was a lot of fun. So my number one, and I was surprised, I thought that this would also be your number one, but it's nets sixers. And if Simmons were healthy, I would have said that, but I'm less interested in it without Simmons. So we got a little bit of a, you know, there's this possibility he's been ruled out the regular season. Do you really think he's gonna come back for game one of the playoffs if it's net sixers? No way. Ruled out regular season ruled out play in not technically not ruled out for the playoffs yet. I'm intrigued by obviously Simmons coming back in that whole the drama would just be ten out of ten. It would melt your face..

"So i don't know Yeah definitely had a bunch of key. Injuries right So you and they didn't have to ask. I think for a bit a bit of the season to Now who corral thirty one in the washington series. So i don't know i th. I think that they're pretty evenly matched goaltending sister matter of which system's going to prevail. You know yeah yeah. It's it's defense or offense right so i don't have faith though. I have faith in the island. Let's go while you know. I'm rooting for them. Of course we're gonna have a full. I don't know. I sent you that tweet or instagram. Rather that the islanders are saying they're going to have a focus on vaccinated section. So i don't know if that means they're going to only have you know vaccinate people in their if it's going to be more than nine thousand people now so we might have a pack occur out for when the bruins faceoff on long island so that has to have some type of impact on the game especially how they were during the games. It was absolutely insane. Nothing was phonier that went on when they were chanting. Jari and pierre mcguire is like they're chanting crosby and i'm like yeah. I know that was pissing. Me also like how much of an idiot guinea be to miss. The play by play guy was like actually appear or he goes they. Could i know what did you say he goes. I hear a mix of crosby and jari. So i guess he was trying to make sound less like pierre mcguire maybe a little bit of knowing sometimes but like that was like come on man. What are you well you know. He had a stroke off. Crosby one more time. Let's go crosby one more time. Fucking annoying asks loser. Sorry he sounds like everybody in toronto about matthew. So i thank god. That's over and pittsburgh in the last three seasons. They've only had three wins in the playoffs. There goaltending sucked ass. Flurry left me. Yeah well. I don't wanna hear crosby socks. All week from today we'll have one and then the following thursday and then the next thursday after that the third thursday for now. That's the jason. Let's to me is the draft will have one That morning as interview region macau weightlessness Visit every thursday till the draft. Though little more yes she had a little confusing. But we also have to call people when we're taping this comparative to win it drops and everything. So that's fine. Just check your paper. Every thursday check naggus nation. Vegas nation dot real quickly. You love to brown's Twitter more than maybe even trent brown and i when the podcast drops Our esteemed producer. Lee mir hopefully can somewhat linked to this week. I'm going to try to explain it and then you're going to try to help me. It's trent brown which appears to be. And i think larry's right he he might be on a cruise ship. He's he's it appears to be that he's walking into a closet but the key in this old twitter's in the closet there appears to be a person's leg hanging down and the tweet from trump. Rana's whatever suits you now that you're to classic. Maybe there's a suit in their visa putting on a superior dinner on the ship. That's where he's at. But this laid solid. Am i out of control. Say maybe this like little rex ryan with the feet a faddish what what are what are we see. You're trying to figure this out too so business. I thought i also thought boat. I didn't think cruise ship more More of the and i. Maybe i mean it looks like we could be getting fooled by the hat. Like proud is definitely wearing a hat would wear on a boat. Yes it's one of those gilligan gilligan's island sloppy white hats. Sure iraq those in watching. You'll be tackled aware of the show. Okay all right was that a gilligan. Wear that hat or that kind of a hat on. Marianne was kind of the a date in high school for years ago. She little sleeping got ginger. Forget about it not that. There's anything wrong with that cheek game with the movie. Starlets the ot area for sure okay. I'll keep marianne nike man. Yeah the professor. At mr mrs was. Who's her name is also dare hell. And then you had the skip skip skip. Yes the big from but okay so back to the. It's a gig in hat. Seems to be walking into this. 'cause it but we'll whose latest that didn't going back then didn't they. Often have visitors on the island had inhabitants like people. Who've it's almost like a a loss where you get in the island and you forget there's been people there for years and you don't really know how they got there that was killed. Do people disappear shots. Like they'd have a scene and then like some Islander walkout from behind like a book or something like carrying a spear and then they talk them and gilligan with top doom and everything and they'll get a few word the harlem globetrotters there once they might have been. I always stuck up. I didn't get there's no way that. What would a shipwreck did not killed everybody. Those very small boat that shipwrecked on the island that. I didn't think i do think the harlem globetrotters did appear that. A lot of people showed up in the island and then yet gilligan and the guy's never left when when the visitors left should lift with them. I don't really understand that part but yes so going back to this. This the tweet lasers so. I don't know but i also i think it's a boat but about one hundred percent sure. I'm not convinced of that. It could be like just a weird house. I just i think it is a boat. I think we're on the right track there by other question. Bigger question is the. There's a stairway i feel like. Yeah i know. I know you're going with this to the appetite are really thought. You'd go down the stretch lion avenue with the other foot fetish but it appears that this might just be as simple as he's gonna walk up in someone's walking down and they thought it right at the right at the exact time. I don't want to make it that way. Because as far too simple and at that point the okay to normal tweet whatever suits us also in on what i don't either but i i'm i'm wondering like i feel like the foot that's hanging. Yeah is not on the stairway like i feel like it's hanging over the stairway so either the person is walking down. This isn't like hanging are they. Well that'd make sweet all the more important while the more interesting if hanging up there but what if it's a ghost ghost towns like a ghost internships ships. I'd like. I'd be like i get on of your mind. I mean the biggest ship shipping been on the pirates of caribbean at disneyland. I don't want ships. i feel like you're like a yacht guy growing up now. Now no i was in the water. Life is not a yak. The kidney got sick at the way. Watch eater okay. We'll probably world gonna take a lunch. I'd always in the water. My whole life At the beach on the ship does something that i can't do it. I i dropped fishing poles in waters. I get sick on whale-watching put me in bolton. It's not good so i would not have been something like this is this whole thing is weird. But he's different than who's the person taking the photo like. That's nothing zappers. And if they got the person walking down the stairs it was a perfect shot like they hit the button right where that foot like. You said it's extended an air so you're not really sure it was just a perfect snap. The pitcher or really. Let's just take another level of someone actually hanging. There's a lot to unpack. That's the case with every trip around tweet at least photo with this one. So there's like a little bit more to analyze the just weird words that don't make any sense have no kind of connection to each other. I'm glad there's a photo to look at but the phones clear anything up. It's just as vague as every other trump around tweet one of the responses manhica feet question mark and another sponsor. Some kid in a life in a life jacket as if to say. Tell trenton the response in the tweet put put on right. Jackie trent or else going the water. I mean dive off the coast. Or something i mean you know you. Put the boat off the coast. Go swimming or something. I don't know no. I would go. I would go in a boat. I would never like when i see people out on boats in the ocean or the c. You wherever they are in. They're jumping in the water from their boat. Yeah i would never do that. Take to nine and a late. you wouldn't go for no god. No no no. I got to be closer to shore. What if what if the boat to float away. We can't get back in the boat off. There's an engine to push down liquor taken up on an airplane on the fine tune. Our yes those afforded that you just you. Just sit the.
