Illinois Democrats Set to OK New Legislative Maps Over Criticism

"Illinois Democrats convening a special session to redraw legislative maps they drew back in May. Now they're incorporating US Census data provided in August. The hope is to head off legal challenges by Republicans Capital Bureau chief Mark Maxwell in Springfield. This latest move is the most glaring evidence yet. The Democrats muscled the first map through just to meet that deadline, and now they're muscling a second real map through if you will to cover their tracks and button up the parts of that first map that could have been shot down in the courts. Republicans argue it's after June 30th that constitutional deadline and by still drawing these maps, it means it should go to a bipartisan commission. Republicans filed federal lawsuits over the first maps.

"I like to see i like to see. Just the landscape gets a couple. You know what. I'm saying l. Shaken up in this one has like one area might be team death match while another area might be rush like all on one map so It's going to be pretty interesting. Have tornadoes and other leggings weather effects that you can take advantage of. This tons of specialists is ten so far in year. Four extra with the battled pass. So i'm ready like i'm ready to get the whole level. Lucien popping off with the buildings falling on people as camping class. Act can't wait shooting game like take it back to basics like the last two years on of you guys have all noticed but The last two years like it's like oh yeah are shooting game plus a little bit of fortnight to right. So it's just kind of like going back like knotts battlefield. So that's the coolest thing i in the trailer dope like. How do you keep the battle. Royale genre from getting tired right. I feel like battlefield showed us how to write. It's by. I mean if you're essentially creating a world where people exist in it then what's in the world weather is in the world right. There's lots of different objectives than the real. I feel like they're the only ones that were thinking about this genre in a bigger way a lot of respect for what they're doing i i just hope that it feels good playing it because it feels like there's a lot going on and i'm afraid of rashy but if they i'm sure they're smart. They've got it figured out into a battlefield forever so they they make a lot of changes to battlefield. Did that to begin with like originally i. I remember that's why someone like me went away from call of duty to battlefield because of the hyper realism. The fact that you know if you're shooting a machine gun you actually have the pulse the machine gun because that's that's how it works..

"Aaron meyer so when in doubt lead with questions and those were a handful of questions that you can have in your toolkit to whip out whenever you considering making decisions in complexity now the third principle is no the patterns managed the people and there's lots of maps that we can use to have a look at the territory of human behavior. There are so many you'll be familiar with some of these. Some of them are profiling. Tools like myers briggs like disc alexai. There's a whole heap of them and all of them are useful in their own particular way. None of them give the full complete truth of what it is to be human. And i think that's another really important thing to take into consideration is that you've you have a particular favorite tool and it's the only tool that you've been exposed to be careful that you start seeing everything is a nail because all you have is a hammer and i think leaders should be exposed to many different maps of human territory as possible so that they get a more nuanced view of what is going on for people so not every tool. Not every map is useful when looking at people dynamics hence why. Developing the ed memoir. So i'm giving people a whole bunch of different tools to have a look at at their particular challenges from different angles I even have one of the maps in my book People stuff called the four devils of people stuff and it's a map that i used to map out. What kinds of difficult issues are leaders. Contending with what are some possible drivers for that and what are some solutions to it. It's one map amongst many that. You could possibly use so my big tip for you. Here is if you're not an amplifier. Start creating your own. Ed memoir collect models and maps as you learn things as you listen to podcasts. Create your own digital one or printed version of that collect them all in places with little triggering questions. Like here's a tool to use. If i'm struggling with blah and there you go you can start accumulating your own ed memoir own collection of maps so that you can see the territory better own right so that's coming to the end of today's question some solutions or some advice anyway. Can we.

"Sort of going to the future and getting away from actual wars. It's been so much controversy recently about video games score find all that stuff so this allows them to get away from that and also allows them to be fucking weird if they want. Yeah yeah so. Let's get into some of the details again pulling from andrew webster at the verge. The next battlefield is coming. This fall in appears to be bringing plenty of mayhem and event today. Be revealed battlefields. Twenty forty to the latest entry in devices long-running shooter series for the xbox one series x ps four ps five through origin steam and the epic game store among other changes to the formula. The game will introduce new tornadoes that move around the map wing so players can fly around and weapons. That can be customized on the fly in battlefield. Our families farmers engineers and even soldiers miss the crisis. The united states and russia draw the world into an all out war. No pass specialists join both sides not fighting for a flag but for the future of the non patriot in this new world and quote twenty forty. Two new maps reflect bleak setup. They included map set in the arctic. Where players fight over oil version of doha besieged by saint saint storms. Like something from mad. Max drive seabed in india filled with the remains of stranded ships and a gleaming south korean metropolis where players have to seize control of a quantum powered. Disinformation hub and quote dynamic. Events appear to be a big focus. One map takes place amid a rocket preparing to launch into into space die. Says the maps have been built with next gen hardware in mind in the biggest change appears to be the sheer number of players in the main mode. All out warfare matches will feature one hundred twenty eight players if you're planning on the s five or xbox series x for older consoles that number will shrink down to a more standard sixty four outside of that mode twenty forty you will also have a squad base mode called hazard zone which stresses will not be a battery al as well as third yet to be announced multiplayer mode. The game won't feature traditional single player campaign when two thousand forty two does launch later this year. Ea says that will act as a live servers. Game with seasonal battle passes both free and paid. They'll push the narrative of the world forward as well as add new features battlefield. Twenty forty two launches on october twenty. Second and yeah tim. i'm with. I'm with everything you mentioned before. Right like the scope of it seems cool. I liked it. They're going for the future. I think that that gives them the opportunity to have a fresh story. That isn't necessarily rooted in the controversy of trying to tackle real life events that have happened in the politics around around all that stuff of course with future wars and stuff that is rooted quote unquote rooted in reality. There's still room to have that controversy controversy and there's still room to have political commentary and make statements and all that stuff but being in the future i think gives only. I think we're going to avoid a lot of that. I mean maybe they do mention that like with a with a seasonal thing the argument to try and loop in some narrative into law the world a battlefield. Stir that's gonna work swimmingly not a chance chance it. How when what world has lord stuff ever mattered in a multi player shooter. They haven't why they don't have them over. Watches a little bit different. Because it's focused okay. I don't know if i'd use apex example. There is a group of people that care a lot about the pastor. A you're right and that is true about any aspect of any video game ever that there is of people care a lot about that. I think that there's a lot sock about here. Obviously i think the big controversy going on right now is the campaign verse. No campaign all that and seventy dollars multiplayer. Only title i. There's a lot to dissect there and really breakdown i think at the end of the day the thing i enjoy most about these battlefield games back in the day was the giant grand scale multiplayer stuff battlefield nineteen forty two but modern times. I feel like i haven't connected with the battlefield game with the exception of the campaign in battlefield one but that was the flash pan. That's not what i expect for. Battlefield dow was awesome. The war stories stuff. I thought it was a really unique. Take on what a first person shooter campaign could be having the kind of more vignettes that were these smaller stories in a larger thing really really worked for me and showed off what that game did well but i think with where we're at now. It's like they're not doing that. I think that at the end of the day. That's a good decision. I always kind of root for games to really focus on what they're actually trying to do and accomplish that thing. It never made sense to me that there are always trying to add co op modes to play two games. All these like multiplayer. Like you could do this but nobody. That's not the point of this like you're just trying to add replay value. Add add value to this thing. I like a commitment to know the experience we're creating for you is worth x. Amount of money now and battlefield. Twenty forty two is seventy dollars for a multiplayer. Sweet gonna make sense in twenty twenty one when we have things like warzone dinner free. That's the bigger question for me. And that's where. I think a lot of people's predictions that this is coming to game pass. I think really really really start to come a little bit more true where it's like. I can't imagine this game succeeding on a major scale. If it is just a seventy dollar release that is multiplayer. Only especially with their focus on season passes and all of that stuff Yeah i. I've been very curious in terms of how they're gonna how they're gonna pull off this battlefield game this fall because i think over the past decade. We've seen first person shooter Multiplayer games evolve in change and the whole landscape of things to shift. The most popular shooter. Nowadays is four-night and that is a third person shooter battery out with a cartoon style that is family friendly. You know you have games like zone. That is also free ryan. You have premium duty. But those the the premium death match multiplayer games coming out in the fall are becoming way. More fewer and far between because things are changing battlefield. You know my question for it has been right. What are you gonna do. That's gonna make it a better one than the last one one. That's six round longer than the last one. Because if you remember the last one. I i knew quite a few people that played the previous battlefield games and enjoyed it fine but they also put up that that battery ombo that really came and went and you could tell that they're trying to throw they're trying to throw throw shit at a wall and see what stuck and see what didn't didn't stick and i think that that would need to lead to them for this one. You know adjusting based on the things. They learned from the last one and so the lessons that they seem to learn. So far is hey. Let's let's get rid of the single player and create focus. Let's find ways to make this a premium experience. Especially because they're going to charge seventy dollars if they're gonna do that. They have to find a way to make this thing stained out and make it make it a thing that people are going to show up for and to your point about game pass or year player finding ways to to get people in. I think that's going to be huge for them. Building a player base believes gentleman with this. Here we have somebody who has checked out battlefield. Twenty forty two parris lily from the games cast or from the x. cast pairs. How's it going. No i'm doing fantastic. Yeah i just wanted to chime in on this. I first and foremost please. Everyone check out. X. cast myself snow bike mic and khalid kind of broke down the entire preview for battlefield. Twenty forty two because we got to cede early but the thing that you were talking about what the campaign. I just innocently tweeted out. I thought this was the right decision to remove the campaign because it allows dyson. Ea to focus on what they do..

Wouldn't it be fun to just come up with a brand new word brand new thing. I did not make happy. I thought that. But even even so that right. But i i want a new word a new thing new word. Let's invent it. Let's us maybe think the the real dumb thing about this is that like they just be called. Metro likes because like castle. Vania was just doing what metro the kathy. Relevant castleblaney games were just doing. What metro was doing and and there are plenty of cash games that don't do that To where it's like the metro vania part of like the vania. Part of that is is kind of weird really. Their metro likes in a way. But really really. It's an action adventure. it's just flavor of action adventure and we come up with a sub genre of action flavor. They wanna need your details. The idea of pro. I mean what are we talking about here. We're talking about. Non linear progress based on item. Acquisitions right like that's the that is the thing of these games. You have to collect an item to open up a pathway that was previously sealed and you're backtracking to get their one map is actually crucial. One map. I don't think it's necessarily well what do you. What do you mean in that context. Because like i if you break original metro down it kind of had three mad at one map area okay Or or you know you kinda went into like what like brennan star. And all the other stuff i guess. Everything is accessible or inaccessible. Based on your ability not based on any sort of like story piece or like it is directly resulted to ha- your ability to get rat is yeah. They're like yeah. That's your items like your gated by abilities cycle to it of i light really springsteen's brain seasonings coming out of the years there. No but.

Hitman 3 Review Round-Up

"Hitman three reviews are and the embargo has lifted. As i let you know. I love you eco. Exo right now has our impressions of roger corner here from kinda funny is already beaten hitman and then it was me and bless you talking about our initial impressions in review so far but the metacritic as it stands which were not and of course is at eighty eight. This is as eight or nine. Am this morning Games beat gave five out of five. Jeffey grub grub rights hitman works because developer iowa interactive bills the games as predictable and rigid machines and as players. We control the key to this machine in asian. Forty-seven io's job is to make sure that when players insert forty seven into this massive cogs moving parts that other parts of the machine awaken in present new opportunities for creativity hitman three in particular works because this machine is more intricate and fund to explore than ever thanks to its incredible levels overnight over an idea dot com luke riley gave it a nine point zero and wrote rich will warning in highly reliable. Hit man three is a superb installment of i os idiosyncratic and much but much love style series. The fundamentals haven't changed since two thousand sixteen but it's collection of outstanding maps for a refined reliable in robust curtain. Closer to the current hitman trilogy. Six maps may sound slim but each one is huge and designed to be played several times over. And even that. It's very unlikely you'll ha- you'll have uncovered all of its creative. It surprising assassination opportunities. There really isn't a week one in the bunch. This barcode butcher has made a lot of appearances over the past twenty years but hitman three is definitely one of his best and then at dual shockers. It got an eight point zero chris. Cornelius rights still the modular nature of each games. Entries means that all three play extremely similarly. Here's of course talk about the them so if you played hitman one or two already you know exactly what you're getting with three there's nothing new or groundbreaking here just honestly though that's perfectly fine for those who like this style of game. As the high quality of level design carries forward. You might not get a wholly original concept or sequel hit ansari. What you will get is the same intricate set of levels. Apply to new areas and concept's whether it's trying to uncover covert operatives in berlin berlin rave or a weaving through the secret passages in dartmoor mansion This these locales and their implementation really are treat. I mean out of jail with game. Play as much as i could have but i certainly loved exploring these areas in plumbing their secrets mr gary widow. What is your history with the hitman. Franchising where are you with hitman. Three my my My history with The hitman series intermittent played the since the very very first hitman gained back in to die. It's a franchise that has has come and gone and has at various different reboots and it seems like re in recent years. It's really coming to. It's the most recent iterations hitman year when they were rolling them out as episodes that was really really popular with people really likes them. I've always tried to get into them. And i've heard something about them just never quite connected with me and i think that's just more to do with that's less to do with the game's not being good games and more to do with him just being somehow like just incompatible with my own tastes gators off you no matter how but i feel i feel like that but not like in a big way is a big disconnect some like. I know. there's a game here that i would really enjoy. If i could just get into it. So i feel like this with this new hitman. Three is the perfect opportunity for me to give it like one more. I'm really gonna try. I'm really going to try to get into. I'm excited about it. I think my wife my About her favorite. Pop the assassin's creed. Games sneaking around us astern people. That's literally all you do so might be it might be hookup as well. I'm very keen to try. I'm also very glad patrick. Click onto the question for me. Hold on because. I think that question might lead into diego's question he wrote into patriots dot com slash. Kind of funny games says hi guys. First time longtime reviews for main three are out and largely positive. My question is simple as someone who never played one of these. Is it worth starting with three or their changes to the mechanics so minimal that maybe i should start with cheaper option of hitman to grabs me from their. Thanks much love. This is a big question. Not just the hitman to the back levels legacy stuff but is hit. Hit me in three a great jumping off point if you've never played before right. This is what you were talking about with club. We and we and we see this every time a big new game series brings out a game right like like one of the most commonly asked questions i've heard in the last year is like where do you start with for example the yakuza games. Many of the right should you. Can you start with like a dragon. You wanna stop zero. Always different ways to get into it. And so i'd every game is different right and every every series is different understand. Why the questions coming from right especially. Since i saw recently that i owe think tweeted something about it. Meant three being the the concluding chapter in a hitman. Trilogy edgy when i when i hear that that makes me a bit nervous like you wouldn't for example to just jump into light. Return of the jet is the first hours from the emerson right. Still be a great movie but a lot of stuff wouldn't make sense and you'd be a bit lost because you know it's picking up story threads been percolating through the previous two films. You would be like who's this guy share. What's going on. And on. I wanna you don't wanna have that feeling but i feel like these days especially we've really games when like years between games. It's it kind of behooves game developers to make sure each new game can function both as the continuation of what's come before legacy players but can also be on boarding can be an entry point for people like you as a game developer or published. You really know helping self if you say oh yeah. This is really only accessible to people who have already played hitman. Because you never gonna grow your your fan vice that what you've got to You you've you've got to have each game be an accessory. An accessible new entry point. And i was very glad to see. Patrick clinic. Asked the same questions anything's into similar position to me intrigued to try. The new one has spent a of time with hitman before. Certainly no up unlike the balaji in the lower. What's happening with like agent. Forty seven's store. I couldn't tell you a single fucking thing about agent forty seven and now he's a ball dude with a barcode on his on the back now and that's nice people is the. Is there much mortar. No probably any of it. But i was very glad to see this morning that apparently a lot of people had replied to patrick and the consensus. Yet you can just jump into say hitman three and whatever problems with like not knowing what's going on so that's what i'm gonna do. I also do have. The hitman wanted to legacy editions. That came whatever deluxe super duper pack. The i got so. I might try those as well but i'm just going to jump into three because that's going to be the one that is most optimized for next gen and like you know it's gonna it's gonna it's gonna have the most valuable learnings from one and two right and i think it's you and me. Gary have a very similar hitman story. Where i remember getting that i hitman. Ips two and bringing it home in popping it. It'd be like oh. This isn't what i thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be more like a metal gear at the time and so i fell off and so every man. That's come but let's talk specifically about this trilogy hitman one and two i pop on. I usually play the first map in the first couple mission. Maybe i into a couple of maybe one more. And i'm like i get it. I see what this game's doing it's not for me like something about it doesn't click and i'm right there with you of like. I know that there is a game there that i could get into but i've struggled to do it and so hit me three. I m coming in very much. And i've played on part of the review on. Ps i love you so far. I'm three missions into the six maps or whatever so there you go it. Was this idea that i'm playing it. I like it. But i don't and i don't and it's the hold up for me is in the over the you know. There's the individual individual maps with your targets and their intricate plots. And what to do. They're right over over. That is layered this the end of the trilogy story. That's happening right. And i think even for me starting at never having beaten hitman one or two but starting those games they do a great job of like. Here's what's happened in the previous games here. Who's these other two players. You're with our this is what's going on. Go for it.

Faking a Factory: Creating and Operating a Realistic Honeypot

"I want to touch on the set up of the honeypot first. So as you were alluding to at your presentation, one of the reasons for behind pod is to understand the kind of attackers that would be interested in manufacturing facility to compromise it. So can you tell us how you set up the ICS components industrial control systems components like the hitch? The robotics workstation and try to make it as realistic as possible. So we went through we we already had four different PLC's we've used for other projects, and so we took those sees initially we were going to try and create the logic. I. But we found out is that it was actually a lot easier for us to go through and create the h. m. i.. So he went through a couple of of what our factory should be. and. We decided that we would go with a prototyping factory and the reason for that is that we could make changes on the fly would be a little bit easier instead of only making one type of part, they're pretty much always going to have the same setup. So we wanted something that was a little bit flexible so that if we went through and made changes, it wouldn't. Be, unusual. So we took our pile sees a connected them into an HMO for the. We just started dropping in some different components of what we thought would be at a prototyping facility, and that included a like a hopper or a container for our product. Basically, it was plastics, and then that would feed into a process heater that would heat up the material that would then go through an extruder and that would essentially similar to like a three D. printer or a an injection moulding print out the product, and then it would go off to a conveyor belt essentially and then get shipped out. So we had the appeal see we had different peels for different components. One of the components that one of the PC's was for the agitator in the tank as well as one of. The pumps. So the product would flow out of the tank using the agitator and then get pumped into the process that was essentially one of our PC's we had another one map for the process heater. Then another one map for the stronger and conveyor belts, and then a final one for the politics and the traffic I challenge I was just GonNa say listen I'm not too familiar with industrial countries. Can you explain what Piazzi is and what Tim is So An H. M. I is basically just a graphical interface. So when a switch on appeal see is turned on or off, usually control that through the Hmo I, just really interface, it can do other things but the primary function of the. Our human machine interface is a graphical user interface. Essentially, the L. sees a parable logic controller it can be set up in a number of ways, but typically you have logic on the device you have inputs and. Output S-. So one of the inputs might be a temperature sensor another, which could be the RPM from a motor. The outputs can be as simple as an honor offs function to turn on and off the process heater or the conveyor belt could also be something that you would use to increase or decrease the temperature of the process heater the PAC controls through. I O ports it has logic in there so that you can automatically perform functions. So if the temperature goes above five hundred degrees Fahrenheit than the PLC would automatically turn that down to four hundred fifty degrees Fahrenheit. For instance, you can set preconditions within the appeal see, and then you can also perform other demands that are remotely done through something like the. HMO. So you have fall components in your sat out, you have the agitator, the burner, the conveyor about and polite tyler, and you have a POC inter phasing with each of these components to allow the operator to adjust to operate at the components. So mostly for monitoring some some of it was for turning the process on and off, and so they it they. Had A bunch of different or a few different functions primarily turning it off and on and monitoring while the actual PLC's and we use some kind of pseudo logic in there to make it look realistic although they weren't actually connected to a real conveyor belt they weren't connected to a real prosecutor. So we simulated some of that data. So how long did it take for your team to come out with this design including the logic in the PRC's? Once. We had kind of settled on what our business was. We took about two weeks to get all of the the. All of the logic setup up that included setting up all the monitoring and all the other pieces as well, and you also have robotics on his well. Yes. So that was a simulated by one of the PLC's we didn't have a real robotic arm we did have a robotics work station. Bats some software on there, but it didn't control anything. So the way that you exposed visit a net is by the time I and also the PIC's as well. Correct. So initially, we had exposed the the robotics work station and all of the Piel sees and we did that using VNC on view only after a while we weren't really seeing anything so. We exposed with on VNC using read and write, and that's when we started getting more attacks and how is this setup different from your previous research where you were looking where research water system and the gas monitoring system I think initially on those that they had just kind of exposed certain ports in certain services online that were common I, think with the. Confident it was common to a gas station setup. This one was a lot more interactive. It required a bit more monitoring a day to day basis the other projects we were just able to collect logs whereas this one, we were actually monitoring what people were doing on our system by doing video recordings and stuff like

Breaking Down the Quarters and Semis for the KR Contenders Playoffs

"Let's dive into our predictions for I guess we'll do predictions and then matches them predictions and matches will go in order here. So first match. We both got right. Yep Yep whoop do. We knew that team B M was not up to the task against Wgn Phoenix, and that's what happened. W just think took the three one against them I. Actually yet the three one which is actually kind of surprising because. Outside of an absolute banger that will talk about a little bit later this was the only other one that didn't go three Oh. Team. VM being able to squeak out that one map made it interesting for all of seven minutes and then. wgn Phoenix was like Nah. We're We're. Shutting you down. Yep and that one map was Lee. Shang where we saw Sung Chan gets some key hacks onto as tax on the. Road at least twice I think. You kinda tried his best to. Negate as tech but as we talk about here in the next couple of matches. Stack is shown to be really solid like you had like I think one match that we watched last week or two weeks ago where I felt when it was from. But like there was some issues dying on Bussan but beyond that, especially in these playoffs matches really leveled up. So that team tried their best to try to counter him and they did on the first map but beyond that w kind of took off and really the only other thing that I noticed outside of that. They were playing real chaotic, not super super structured. Just looked discombobulated, and then you get over to a new business and protect literally holds onto his grab for like foil. Yes and it's like there was there was a bunch of times where he could have used it. Either defensively to save some of his teammates and extend the team fight or initiate with an potentially win team fight and Nope, he just sat on it and then when he did use it, he threw it to lake. Horizon Lunar Colony I think because it just went nowhere got nothing and then they just got absolutely destroyed. Yup Listen to Wayne Gretzky protect you miss one hundred percent of the grabs you don't take so. You just gotTa. Do It man you just got? To. It's also a Hawker reference or an office reference depending on what what realm of the world you're in. The other thing too is like every minute that you're not using a graph building. You're not building graph and like if you hold a grab for like three minutes, you could've used a grab that it was like okay and then had another grab by basically the same time So. Yeah it's it's tough and like if you don't have the opportunity to use a grab at all because they're diva is constantly all over you and you don't have the counterplay or they're playing way to spread, then you probably should go on something else. That's better. Pick anyways and use the grab throwaway goldfish swimming dvr, go switch Sigmar anything else. There there's been a lot of issues that we're seeing a lot of the losing teams. They're. They're just like kind of shooting themselves in the foot with like playing what they should be. On the other side man wgn. Phoenix Lake after watching this match. I got really high on this tangle. Especially, ABC Z. Bag has been. Okay. But Gables specially was. Studer Pitt where you saw pack jump up, get damage onto. The Echo over the ACA was even. On. Haven, yeah then. He drops down back behind the cover again, and then you saw gable see right behind him come up boost up finish off the damage and then go back and then Win So comes up to resum they both dive a again and kill him as well. They open it up with two free kills and literally just roll beyond that. So I think that like one of the things especially it's been the tank line coordination for this team. In another team, we'll talk about later. Like it really sets these teams up apart like with the DP s with the one diver as well with the tanks in the one dive deep. Yes as well like. If, you have three people hive minded together you you will find success in grin contenders. And then another name on wgn that you're going to hear. US Talk. A lot absolute tyrant about is ace. When ace is on? The Sambre. Do builds EMP's insanely quick. But then on a newbies, they push team B.. M. Back to the spawn. And then they're like, you know what we got like a minute and a half left we're just going to go sit in front of the spun. And s just sits behind him and mainly heck's the supports like one clip supports drops an EMP. Like gets half of the team just absolutely bullying the back line of Team B, m on a newness and. Team B. M. had no response to ACE's play when he was running the sombre. and. It's super unfortunate that like he's only played this one pick at least what I've seen so far Inoke s on the hog. So good is unmatched in cream contenders I think I, think he might. Only, backed by MAG. But we'll see about that. Hit like he just every time like he forces other people to not play against him because he will just out a out mechanics them out strategy them and like just knows how to play better gets incredible. Pickoffs especially on Havana you saw him on the hog and Gable soon, the sigma they full hold team b. m., there as well So, like this tank line. Alternating CPAC and iino cast depending on whether or not. They're gonNA play the Winston saw shrine oranges run the Road Hog quite often because I think this was still on the playoff patch or like the wwl. Finals Patch. It'll. It's as strong three players on that team like they. Really. Really benefited from there, strong line here and gables the again like we talked about his diva being incredible signals also incredible as well during the scrappy last minute fights where there was a chance that team b. m. was going to be able to. Squeak out the first point actually cap it. he just stayed alive sustained had some good old good rocks Just good play and I think got like a couple of kills here there's also. You're going to start seeing a couple of these names come up next week when we talk not only about Plants and stuff like that but also on recommended. Pickups for teams in the off season because. Couple of teams might be going full Korean here and. There's a lot of new blood that's rear and to get some Odell time in. So I'm excited to see that I actually can't wait to talk about that team that I think is going full Korean 'cause. It's GONNA be interesting to try to put together. A bunch of players out of Korean contenders to slot into that team or and see how close we can get to actually hitting the. the mark on how many people get pulled from creon contenders.

These CS:GO Coaches Just Got Banned For Cheating

"The go seen just got by gigantic cheating scandal and no I'm not talking about a bunch of nobody's getting caught hacking and the F. L. This happened at the highest level of competitive counter strike and three coaches were banned and on top of that, there's been a second investigation with up to potentially fifteen different cases of match-fixing happening at the semi pro level. It's been a rough month for couch. All right. So for a while now we've been streaming over a twitch dot TV slash the score, east sports with our talk show clouded, and if you love the stories that we cover here on donut mean well, you're GonNa love some of the conversations that we have over on twitch. We break down some of the biggest stories from East sports in streaming and we talk a little ship while we're at. So make sure you follow the channel and hit that notification button. So you know exactly when we go live and you can watch me get roasted for two hours straight the news. Of this cheating scandal broke day after esl one Cologne finished is published an investigation and they say quote we were made aware that by taking a combination of different steps of Bogin Cisco allows the coach of a team to become a spectator anywhere on the map unbeknownst to anyone else and so yeah, this coaching exploit as it's being called basically allows a coach to place themselves anywhere on the map and then swivel their camera from side to side and theoretically take any info that they gather from that and give it to their players. It's basically one giant broken cypher cam like in foward. Check this ship. Now, the bombshell at the heart of ESL's investigation is the fact that they've proved coaches from heroic MIB are and hardly talk use this exploit at multiple different ESL events leading up to esl one Cologne. Three teams competing at the highest level of counterstrike cheated in the investigation is said that the exploit violated quote section six point ten, five use of glitches and quote of esl's Rupel to be very clear is says that all of this happened prior to the start of esl one Cologne and that in fact, the exploit was actually patched out prior to the tournament started, and so these rulings are the result of a long investigation that just happened to be published at the same time that he also Cologne was finishing. The investigation also says at what tournament the coaches abused the exploit hardly coach Makino gun use the exploit at esl one road to Rio on six maps in three matches Perot's coach. Used the exploit at Dream Hack master spring in ten rounds on one map and Coach dead used the exploit at ESL one road to Rio in one round on one map on Thursday September fourth former NRP IP coach Pita admitted to abusing the coaching exploits during an EP L. Match Against Mel Sports back in two thousand eighteen and like I mentioned off the top these aren't just some punk teams cheating their way through F pl or some shit. This is the highest level of competitive counterstrike, its coaches and players competing amongst the best of the best and being found guilty of cheating in an online tournament with a prize pool of three hundred, fifty, thousand dollars on top of. That her minutes to win the European portion of one Cologne and they look fucking doing dominating some of the best teams in the world magic going from heroes to cheaters in the span of twenty four hours and the way we know about this exploit and the fact that coaches have been abusing it over the last few months is thanks to freelance East Sports, referees, me Kaos Lewinsky and Steve Dudin off they spent dozens of hours poring over thousands of different demos and meticulously documenting any time they thought the export was being used a big props goes out to those guys now unfortunately, coaches abusing this. Is, not limited to esl vets beyond the summit recently put out a statement that says basically that dead the coach for Mbr was found guilty of using this exploit and beyond the summit six in the most damaging part of the statement is where they said that dead explicitly knew how to fix the exploit and continue to abuse it anyway quote de demonstrated he knew how to fix the glitch while maintaining competitive integrity prior to see US summit six online by requesting technical timeout disconnecting and reconnecting which happened in the May first of match versus Mb. At, ESL. One Road to Rio and then from there, they go on to say that quote dead knowingly abused the coach spectator glitch to obtain an unfair competitive advantage and ours lower bracket round three match versus triumph at summit, six online on June. Twenty third and quote yeah. That whole give him the benefit of the doubt type thing goes out the window on this. Now, as you can imagine, the punishments handed down in the response online was both fast and fierce. Here's ESL's punishments. All three coaches rox hunting is banned from competing and coaching an ESL events for a year. Dead is banned for six months and hard legions. Makino gun is banned for wapping twenty four months or a full two years on top of that all three teams will retroactively be disqualified from the tournament in question while also forfeiting both their esl pro tour points and the prize money earned from those tournaments man you sell is not fucking around and. Beyond the summit band dead from the next to be Vance while also retroactively disqualifying maybe from beyond the summit six and they basically have to forfeit their prize money as well. Now, at the time of recording this, hardly June is the only team that's released a public statement on the matter and they basically said that they've dropped mechanica quote yesterday we received. A letter from ESL announcing the decision to ban or coach for two years. It was difficult for us to believe in Alexander's guilt but we had to conduct a personal investigation of this situation based on the results of internal discussions. We decided that the punishment from ESL was fair. We refuse to make any appeal and we are staying in the side of. The tournament organizers and and predictably lot of the responses from the scene on online. A whole bunch of you gotta be fucking kidding from pros to analysts to popular content creators. Of course, Brazilian fans everybody is thoroughly pissed off, and honestly people should be pissed off because while this exploit doesn't involve all hacks or a mocks or some other stereotypical idea of. It still seriously undermines the competitive integrity of CS go

Everyone is Cheating in Counter Strike

"Let's go over here to the scandal and drama going on here because it is not your typical cs topic a nude I feel like normally when we talk about Cs, it's happy thoughts. It's our feel-good place. We're talking tournaments we're talking big roster moves I thought this was behind us in the tier one scene. And it has been broken out like wildfire and it's definitely not the last of it where we are seeing coaches. Being banned left and right now with the scene. So to fill everyone in, the might not know there's a bug where there was a bug in the game that would allow a coach and correct me if I'm wrong here, newt, essentially the coach would sometimes like spawn in certain parts of the map and then could look around like three sixty see everything that's going on so that obviously the disadvantage or the advantage of this as you could see where the other team might be going and things like that. Correct. Basically. A Cypher Kim. Yeah right or South for ten. It's exactly like a cipher came from Valerie and yet it would spun you in a random spot. Sometimes, we saw happened in spawn so you can see what the opposing team was buying know which way they were splitting in how that would work. Sometimes, it was literally in the middle of the bombsite right and it just froze you overhead in gave you kind of full three, sixty view if you move your mouse around, you can see everything. Yeah and so it's been recently busted that a number of coaches have been taking advantage of this bug and now it's a hot topic. So let's just kind of. A go through this. So I guess the whole reason the started is zoo said peacemaker were the first to report the bug which has since been patched right. But then esl kind of started going back and like reviewing the tapes and films and things like that to see if anyone is taking advantage of this and now I will say this and I will give you credit specifically because you've said it multiple times on. The show if you don't think people have been and are still going to cheat in the online era of of e sports, you are ridiculously naive and I know a new you have said that in different words on the show before but now I I'm a believer I'm buying into your belief that of course, in one way or another, all these guys are going to find an edge whether that be cheating or not. Cheating is not only like aim hacking or wall hacking, right? Like that's speed hacking whatever the hacks that you see it's not just that that could easily pop up a twitch stream in have that on the monitor where they could be relayed information of economy. Right? You would know the economy, you will get a general idea of. You get a little bit more information than you obviously normally could. I'm. Not Saying it's. Everybody. Tries to find didn't edge. That's just the world of competitive sports whether it's traditional sport or needs for people try to find an edge in this seemed like one of the obvious ways it could be done now didn't help that counterstrike had a bug in the game that also allowed this to happen. Right. But at the end the day people knew it was their coach news, their players knew it was there and they allowed. It Tappan and they took advantage of it in man did we get a ton of evidence like on people take really I think we're just getting to the typically icebreaker I. think There is so much more floating down beneath that. We will get not even talking about tier two or tier three S. this was probably in occurrence in in most matches would be my guest but I think from even tier one we're really just. Starting to scope it out and find out what's happening. Stuff's even coming out today. Yeah. So some of the big ones here I think. From just a more recent standpoint, heroic the coach for heroic hundred. ENDED UP, getting busted for using it during the dream. Hack Masters Spring in ten rounds on one map. and. That's just what they've reported so far I can only imagine. He's done it then more reports on him now that also come out, it's happened more than as they're watching more film and again, these were just for esl sanctioned. Right so now you're having other organizations or other attorney or got. Going back and watching and reviewing their tapes right. So this is all just I mean it's just a giant web that's getting cast it out there now, people watching the film. So I just want to throw out this gentleman's name because he's really the one that kind of helped break everything by doing the legwork and that's meet you from ESL. Lewinsky might be pronouncing that right him in Steve doned went through fifteen hundred demos. It took them three weeks of basically each doing at twelve hours a day to go through all these demos to find stuff in I mean, look they. Not, only catching the ones that have just gotten band, but they're pushing more information out now for other demos at they're finding letting other event organizers know that, Hey, this was a bug. This is a timeframe has been going on in now we're seeing it from like what beyond the summit just came out and released their sanctions today. This is affecting road to Rio. Now because points situations have been messed up in. Teams have been eliminated that we'll talk about in a second but for heroic, it's a really big stain because they just came off of the win of Cologne people were looking at them and really a positive light right like that. Feel good time. Do you want to? Sets you WANNA know how fast life can come at you and edge if you go hundreds twitter account. His one, he has his two recent tweets. Heroic, second, best in the world two hundred has been suspected. He tweeted. Just like instantly he goes UA were second best in the world to I am now suspended like that's how fast life can hit you in this. In this world you've got a one year suspension right for for what he's done in. Again, there could be more coming down right like we haven't heard official rulings from valve yet on if they're going to take action on this or if they're just gonNa let the to's handle it. But yeah, the definitely be more I mean he he's getting a twelve month ban.

"Is the most to teach us in terms of how to deal with the corona virus hand virus scare is office yes he is the chair of the American conservative union the man who makes C. pack happen every single year by the way just happens to be married to mislead the flap as well he's a match welcome back to America first map great to be working against a bastion Hey would you said with all this is because you have really been through the ringer in the last couple of weeks well you know we went to see Pat my wife went to C. pack bodies were hanging around in the green room but you above all else have to deal with your own mini crisis when it came to the Chinese a corona virus can you share with our listeners want familia what happened to you and your colleagues at this year's fabulously pack well you're right the first thing to remember C. packs being which was America versus socialist the outbreak of the Chinese buyers here is an example of why communism and socialism so just god awful the world is looking to America now for solutions because we have some of the brightest minds because we have for the freest economies that rewards innovation we talked a lot about that at C. pack but of course that you know we will probably get early yeah all of our people be exposed to experience a the media reporting around this Chinese character on a virus we had one person come to the conference it was impacted the good news is I talked to him recently he got out of work at a hospital yeah I think that's one of the messages here's the **** the person facility to get as quick as I need the latest update from you because you have to deal with a classic case study of crisis management somebody who was at C. pack working for you as a volunteer or donor eye color member which had the coronavirus bought me but nobody contracted it from him and also you're saying he's he's left health cannot he's okay yeah he left the hospital and he is in good condition is on the mend and that's really good news because the thing up Boston office the **** is not just the fact that you can be exposed and can contract this virus is that we're not hearing enough about what happens when you get the virus if you're relatively healthy person it seems like it certainly in the C. pack example you get through it it's not pleasant having a deep blue or pneumonia is terrible and if you have a weakened as health you know situation it can be fatal but for most of us when we get the flu even when it's a virulent form you know we fight back take a couple weeks of our back on our feet and the good news is the person who had this issue with the pack is definitely on the bed that I think we just got to keep that in mind as we see these numbers come back again which is you know let's keep in perspective that they're going to be a lot of survivors of Chinese Kuroda yeah a lot of people who get it to have it some who may not even know they have it and come out the other side none the worse for wear talk to us about what happened to you and how you have to deal with this from the outside it looked masterful your communications policy the way you handled it I'm sure was a little bit more difficult on the inside and any lessons learned especially when it comes to how the media reacted to your story I think that the biggest the biggest problem it's really a cancer is the media's attempt to climb in blame president trump for everyone to make everything a deplorable fuller in what I think was done by too many in the media as they said I actually had editors of conservative publications one very prominent ones the basket that could be we know C. pack didn't have about breaking we have Deepak didn't do anything you're responsible but we're gonna give you a lot of bad coverage because wow you're so protein you're so pro trump that you deserve to have the good the bad and because he's the president this time you can get the bad if you're going to get to and I just said that this person I said you know that is propaganda that's not journalism then you're really really can't call yourself a conservative the better the character values when we have too many publications on the right that are still trying to prosecute the case against Donald Trump out tell you it's not just a a lot of fake news problem in what we call the bate street dues which is you know badly titled we have a problem with that still within our conservative brethren thank you Maddy but third powerful positions at some of these are conservative in air quotes journals and they felt that because Mick Mulvaney and others they thought made light of corona on the C. backstage they believe that even though the coverage is detected by the wildly exaggerated and in in really aligning our character you deserve it because we were trump every can you believe Sebastian no I I I I I look I'm a radio show host this is not a good position to be in I am speechless not only that somebody have bad intent to says that a conservative but actually have the goal to tell you is utterly shocking and it just reinforces for me that we have a long way to go Donald Trump is the outside there's still the swamp hates him on the left and right and there are a lot of people who call themselves conservatives who don't deserve to be allowed to to call themselves conservative that shocking we're talking to the chair of the American conservative union the man behind the biggest conservative jamboree in the world every year it's C. pack I am always on it to talk at it and it really is a recharging of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare: Completing All 3 Contracts in Warzone Battle Royale

"Will. You've been playing some new colleague. I have been called Kadoi Quad Kadoi wars zoning the new battle royale from the makers of call of duty modern warfare infinity ward. I thought it's called duty. Had a battle royale mode already so obviously. I don't know much about this. You are a longtime pudgy player. So yeah you want to explain how it works. Yes explain how it works. Give us give us the so. They did a battle royale last year. with Block ups for it was really hot for like two weeks and then people stopped being destroyed and then disappeared basically. I mean there's still people that play it on the rag but it had problems with like sound model and stuff like that. The folks at Trae Art. I think did a really good. Gd Talk last year explaining what they learned from the first rather the battle royale which is basically like in a first person game where you're being unto constantly it turns out sound is really important and they focused a lot on that like the sound bottle in modern warfare warzone is is much much better. It's still not you know I. It's it's still not perfect. None of these models Arkansas. You're doing math to fool people's brains into thinking they hear sounds up and down and behind them when they're wearing headphones and since cod is a console game it has to work with. Speaker and TV's as well as funds like there's not as good as your pc only But it's really neat so you drop in one hundred and fifty players solo mode now and they have a three player team mode a Hundred Years. You get chucked out of the plane you. The map is basically like It's kind of like a mash up of all of the call of duty or a lot of the multiplayer maps. So there's there's like a quarry section and there's a TV station section and there's a bone yard section and all these different like kind of You know Classic Cod death match. Maps are either expanded or kind of injected as kind of like showcase locations in the larger battle. Royale actual royale map is really big as it would have to be rich people but the really interesting thing that they've done is they've added a bunch of mechanics. They get you back in the game if your squad game and you get knocked out so or in a solar game for that matter so for example you get knocked somebody somebody kills you for your teammates can get you back up in in. Pudgy or I think four nights all does this. You're out busy. You Watch your friends play for the next twenty or thirty minutes in this thing called the Gulag where you're in a rock style. Prison shower there to players started on either ends. You have a shower is where you lost me. Look man you went to prison shower part. I don't talk right. It's like it's the show. It is literally looks like the shower. Prison the prison shower from the rock. So so you have to like to one man leaves. The Guy who leaves gets to bears back in on his friends if you suck. Yeah so this is rocket league. It's Thunderdome but it's essentially like you're you're a subcategory of death match happening coinciding with this large fifty. Were all the people who are waiting at rocket. Leak or rocket arena not rocket arena. He's very rocket well in that rocket. Arena way like the people who are waiting for their turn to fight are standing up around the edge of the shower looking down from the guards gallery throwing rocks at the people who are fighting so like and if like you and one of your teammates gets knocked they'll be up in the arena and they can tell you which way because it's basically like doted three lanes there's right mid and last so like if you have a guy in the arena in the gallery that telling you which way the opponents going you've a pretty big advantage you have like a grenade you have a flash bang or a smoke grenade or something like that but mostly you have like a pistol or a shotgun or or whatever and then you have to murder that person if you go back in and you get back and then your team can get in world currency Like you find cash when you kill people you like cash part of diluting process and you can buy them back in at a by station for like forty five hundred Docs. It's really neat. They did a bunch of stuff to simplify. There's no attachments. They have to pick up the guns. You can you. The guns are coated like a while so like you have gray green blue purple legend gold or orange legendary loot and all that means is like the low doubts on them. So like they'll have different grips of different muscles. They'll different scopes so you don't have to be worrying about like does this angled grip going this gun or do i. Is it better on this gun? What would I do with all this stuff? The things take literally hundreds of hours to learn a game like a g are are much more straightforward. It's been really fun. I've really been enjoying an added Solos yesterday. Haven't had a chance to check that out yet. But I'm going to do it and this is free to play free to play so if you already own God modern warfare. It'll show up as a menu item if you don't it's like an eighty or one hundred gig download. I assume because the map is enormous and Let's see if you are a fan of the duty years where they have a bunch of weird like voice packs and Snoop. Dogg boys packs and a bunch of like. We'd leave crosshairs for your guns. I'm sorry to tell you that that is not the case. This is not one of those years. So hopefully the we'd leave. Crosshairs will come back next year and calling me. It's not health. Pack base it's health region so you have health jen your armor. Which is the most important kind of stat? You have rather than having a helmet and a chesapeake like you do in most games Basically you just have these metal plates you jammed to invest in front of your shirt and those three of those gives you one hundred percent armor basically and you can carry extra armor around which is nice. If you're in the middle fights and stuff like that it's it's IT'S A. They did a really nice job with. It's a really neat. It's a really neat. About how do you have a sense that they're going to avoid the pitfalls of the other battle Royale Games in terms of like keeping maps updated? Ed like changing over You know some nursing and keeping the the weapons in line Do you have a sensor that I know it's early So it's it's difficult to say my assumption is they're gonNA do one. Map is like adding maps is a neat thing if you look at what it asks. Legends is done when they add a new map. The old one goes away for a while and then they bring the new one back with some changes. So they're kind of cycling back and forth Fortnight has been constantly evolving. Their map huggies keeps adding new maps. And that kind of fragments. The player base every time they do it which seems like a bad thing when the player base shrinking so My I I think it's too early for a lot of that stuff to say until they find out what the stable audiences you know the games a week and a half old at this point so it's unclear It's unclear if if people are GONNA stick with we won't know people are going to stick with it for a month probably gets But the other nice thing is it ties into the existing call of duty. Modern warfare battle pass so the mud. It is if you buy into the battle pass in one place then you can use it in both the normal. Dm Game and also the battle royale so it's not like it's not like there's a subscription the cosmetic stuff seems pretty reasonably priced there. Aren't there aren't loop boxes like they? They've done a pretty good job. I it seems like I think that would be pleasant to Blaine. Would make you feel skis for playing unfortunate. Call of duty unfortunate play mechanics.

Why the London Tube Map May Need a New Design

Why the London Tube Map May Need a New Design

"Max. Maybe I can start with you. You're a cube map obsessive. It's very famous map. Of course the many Londoners think is a thing thing of beauty. But you're not so sure about it. Can you explain why you see some problems with the London Tube Map. The main problem is that although the networks expanded founded massively since the nineteen thirty maps exactly the same size as it was when Henry Beck. I did a sketch so having absorbed more and more stations at the same size is and the other thing. Is that the map pretty well. Dates from the year. Two Thousand and it wasn't designed with Elise overground extensions in mind and they've just added the monroe thinking about. Is this the right way to do things. So there's been quite horrible geographical nasties on it now stations which have well out of place. which now they're showing walking's change on matchy disorientating so it's crushed? Up is all twisted up. And it's geographic wrong as well which is about as bad as you can get from out. They do try and tweak it and change it and every time they do. That seems to be another round of controversy people who don't like that thing being tinkered with coming from the nineteen thirties that Mr back may they still want to keep hold it. Why is it so difficult to change it because if you change your property they'd have to and make a bigger? She's a paper on that gives you also logistical problems. It's more expensive to print distributes and on racks and they're trying to save money with his anyway if you sort of feel the thickness of the paper compared with ten years ago. It's pretty floppy least we're talking about and we're going to be looking some very physical maps maps on paper maps. The here in London were used to sing posted up in stations. But a lot of the work that you've done is looking at maps in a kind social media agent at an age of technology. Are we wrong to be thinking about their representation always as pieces of papers physical maps that even this kind of data for tube map is a revolution that needs to happen so that we can see on phones in better ways is more designed for today's technology will there's two ways of looking at this right because in many ways kind of we're being away from using maps a tool like mice people in London. We'll probably have city map. Worldnet the phone and they can just put in where exactly that going and it will just tell you get on this line then gallon this London. Gallon this boss. Whatever is I've had to look at the map or undo the understanding astounding yourself in some ways that is easier? It's easier not to have to kind of follow things through but then touchy have understanding of kind of how it works walks especially if it because that's what I'm good until the cheap breaks down and your cheap station you've never heard over and you out and you have to try and figure out. Okay where actually our amway in relation to anything so there is a sense in which it's still as important to have. A map is easily understandable. You can understand how everything into relates and whether it's on paper oil scrolling around screen I think ultimately is always going to be useful to have that map and I think even most of the APPS do have like a backup mode. Where if you're off line they'll have downloaded map? If all else fails you'll be able to go Nikola and Laura. You're joining us from the United States. This is the London. Intrude map crop up for you as a topic of interest. Yes so I on a West Coast Bureau chief at city lab where we write about urban policy and politics texted. We just closed out Three months long essay series on the power of maps in personal lives to sort of shape personal snow histories and we had a lot of submissions about our readers and writers attachments to the transit maps in their cities. Kind of how the subway maps or bus route maps helped open up a new kind of understanding of the place that they lived in and I think it as one of the few remaining kind of common. I'm in touch points that we have in twenty first century urban life. Even if you know we're no longer using paper maps to necessarily navigate as much anymore. I do think that like these. He's common paper. Maps do become a shared understanding of the places we live and I think can really kind of lock people over when changes suggested or made and one really interesting fact about the Linden map is a story that came out of some research a couple of years ago and that was a pair of economists. Messed look at what happened when a branch between two London tube stations was shut down as a result of a strike in two thousand seventeen and they studied the paths that the passengers made when they were not navigating the tube underground and solely on the basis of the maps and they actually found that passengers. I discovered that there was a much shorter route in navigating between Paddington station. In Bond Street station when they were actually traveling on the street versus is traveling from Paddington Station to station underground and that was solely because of how distorted the map was in that particular spot. And so it's really interesting story. That highlights the stark differences between reality and the kind of shared truth. I think these transit maps create a woman in encourage people to walk more of an environments. That is a problem with it on the map. Isn't it because often people look at you map. And they think I need to get on the tube guy between Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus. It looks a long way and they didn't realize that today one hundred meters apart. The distorted map isn't very good. We have a new way. Finding finding system in Las Years in London tries to encourage people to see what the walking distance is our. Is that another argument. Potentially changing the London subway map that it just really doesn't match with the passenger needs in a way I mean it is a thing. Remember having an argument with people about fifteen years ago and all of us living in London this and people who he wanted to see me we were in town and they are going to come up. We need to get the tube from necessary. Cone gone. Took me pretty about as long to argue my case that we didn't we need to do that as we could've walking it. But the lack of geographic information can be a problem and I lived in places the on really represents excellent cheap. Mumps I lived somewhere where it was sort of very vaguely could of Finsbury Park but it wasn't really if that wasn't the nearest station but the nearest station nationwide train station. That wasn't on the tube map. So there are these places that sort of exist in London but sort of fall out of existence because they're not represented on the one map of London. Everyone's aware of an eye so my now that sort of I lived in Nepal which is on the cross rail lines. So it's a place that is coming into existence. Finally after years of being on some national rail line and no one cared about. It's going to be one day across you'll ever opens on the tube map and it's interesting. That does obviously have as well as the consequences. It out by transplanting structuring better. It probably just helped the exists on the map for things like property prices and kind of just awareness of as a place. You might want to go because these places are invisible. They're represented which is kind of interesting thing about the fact that it's a a map that's not a map because it doesn't actually necessarily have to represent present anything other than the sheep

"It would take to the show and said they hate divided spell because all you all suck at it that's what they said all you all suck at it that's kind of the point. there's pressure to come up with something on the spot because I I don't see the words before you do that so I I that's what I thought of the last one during the break mock markets yeah you're right yes which is overly emotional right right I would have said if you're like mark from Boston. it is the pop the coop markets sometimes it comes to your right away sometimes it takes a couple seconds. all that but it's the most pressure packed thing we do someone else sent me an aids it taxed at Bible two to three OO six five six five it said I have actual footage of you stuck on I seventy one traffic. and it was seen from the the the incredible hulk reason the back of the cabin there in the traffic jam it's like. bill Bixby Holker there the movie help I don't remember who played the various Hollis I watched it when I was a kid but I don't remember who played all the various different TV show Lou for regnal played the hall but bill Bixby was the regular guy. and so you may say it made him angry then I got green and swelled up yeah I this is the one with Lou for no one okay yeah I'm pretty sure that was a TV show that at the I was the one that I watched when I was he made friends but he knew he would crush them eventually sweet go walking down the highway with piano music playing did you do next week you'd want to another town he would save somebody and he would make some friends but realize he would crush them at some but with these big green hands ready to talk back on the highway and a whole lot. talk not happy sigh seventy one back up again move your wins well I'm pretty sure that the that did that what is it which exit was it again it was if you go if you get stuck in this there's an actual real live dumpster fire on wheels on I seventy one there's a stye trash truck that I guess overturned by the lagrange exit which is backing up southbound I. seventy one I mentioned exit twenty eight it's the new castle exit if it's not bad yeah that's only six miles from la Grange so I'm pretty sure as quick as I seventy one stacks up because we only have two lines and we're the only city the size that doesn't put a Berlin art interstate coming into town you're probably stuck farther back than that which means looking at the they're coming from Cincinnati or all the way back to four twenty one U. S. for twenty one no that that's coming so hope you're not stuck in that maybe they got out of the way I do we have a guest or no we do all we do okay I wasn't sure if he called in yet or not because I wanted also to talk about something that I came across as a but first there's an event going on coming up in I guess I'll be late October in Nashville Tennessee and it's called political on. and it's kind of like comicon for politics if you will the possibility that you and I super Dave may go to this and it's been announced and that's a co founder Simon city I will be is available here to cut tat chat with us a little bit about what's going on with this what what inspired you to put together a comic con for politics. good morning because we love politics and we love the. getting people together it's known parts of them we try to bring as many different people together to enjoy themselves it's a song the band it's as you said it's like common cancer weekly traits are conservative friends like whole clans and little friends like old friends. so okay we don't have to see any of them in spandex or capes do we. but we do encourage our audience to come then calls place we have a lot. god only go dressed as some people show up dressed as Sean Hannity Kurtz up that and that's funny well it's going to. if you dress the storm Hannity be careful because you're going to bump into Sean Hannity could be kind of. so all right I was gonna ask who all is going to be here and kind of what's the overall point. twenty three enjoy yourself we try not to have people we don't we don't have the we don't expect people to west thing come by our the end the political and we want people to have fun enjoy themselves see their heroes and led the loans so. thinking of that we've got everybody from James Carville and I'm cool to come every year by the way this year we also have assistant you on Hannity he's going to be doing something's gonna be during a discussion with James although we have al Franken coming to do his new one map shows that he's just putting together we have Sarah Huckabee Sanders we also have James because coming to give us a talk at the Jordan pick certainly go comedy with Randy rainbow and some other people got runs previous coming to do a a debate with Donna Brazile we go Charlie her home in the rain we thought and the castoreum and tall Kolin ski you know we've got a real mix of people and we put them all together and see what comes out here's what I like about what you're doing these are some of the most prominent. if you want to call them the punditry class okay these are the faces the Talking Heads we see on TV every day. what we don't see is them in a situation where they have to have conversations with the other side of the aisle rarely you know it's usually usually when they put somebody on they disagree with the becomes a shouting match that's not gonna be possible in this setting so I think what's interesting is we may in fact have an example of when people can sit down with opposing viewpoints and actually talk to each other and do it simply and and maybe that's more constructive. and I can do it for an hour without commercial breaks so you could really get in debt if you want since about that whatever whatever that discussing Sir it's not the panels we have lots of debates in two nights but we into pointed with comedy we have comedians on the panels were even bringing over Britain's Jon Stewart to try and explain goggle missed him out he's going to try and explain what's going on with brexit I don't think he's going to do very well US because no one really understands that but that's what we try to we try to get people to enjoy themselves and to discuss that we've had we have got a chair piling carrying but she didn't bring great thing with judge Colin off to which she did about finding ways to get a nose across the two great and the line was obviously out the door Jamaica and they will pull liberals and its way you get to to to meet your offsets yes that's interesting how long you been doing this. the topic here we've done in Los Angeles area this the first time we posted to the middle of the country way really excited about this I was that's why you chose Nashville. Nashville because of its location but also because they say you know liberal out to sea in a very conservative state with lots of grace this is old for around it so well we so to get people some folks want to if folks want to come to this how can they get tickets how can they get passes it's that or how does that work. thank you just simply go to political dot com that AOL alright she only C. O. N. dot com and click on the ticket link it's on the twenty sixth and twenty seventh October but the music city center in downtown Nashville I see my producer super day wasn't off Alyssa Milano is going to be there. she was with us last year I'm not sure coming back this year but we have all sorts of people coming awesome and in your dog in the background is your dog gonna be there because I I love dogs. for like three rooms away. it's also because I bring my dog to work sometimes too it's all good all right Simon city it's political on it and its political on dot com if you're a student checking it out in Nashville the date on this is October twenty eight that's the that weekend is that right so it's the twenty eighth twenty ninth and thirtieth twenty six and twenty seventh of October okay twenty six and twenty seventh okay gotcha all right Hey listen it's great to talk to you some hope we'll chat again. right thank you god all right looking forward to it thanks Simon city and its political that's kinda interesting are you here to see if they were to be here all those names you like that is kind of the the top level of the punditry and now they're gonna be in a situation where they're actually like like Sean Hannity you can't get through twenty five second without yelling at somebody if they're on the oppose side so with that would you say was gonna debate Donna Brazile I think that should be interesting I was kidding about Alyssa Milano thanks funny it's like an obscene tweet symposium with Alyssa Milano. well I I hopefully you now get to go to that we're we're thinking about doing it it's just a matter you know whether or not we can talk to some of the interesting people can also be healthy for people to go and see people that you think hate each other right Sir like people think the Supreme Court justices of the liberal wing in the conservative wing and they don't like each other that they love each other they work together they respect each other in a lot of these people in the media due to they picked their teams when they're on in the evening but they're probably kind of normal people except for the M. S. N. B. C. folks well that's part of why it's so. stunning that the media has done what it's done where it's gone all in for one side and it's really doing a major disservice to the United States I mean it's it's I I really think it is because it you you don't get you know a thing about art like for instance are top of the hour news the whole news cast was recession guns and Palance getting a divorce and it's like really I mean there's not other things that we can talk about in here like I I saw a poll this morning The Washington Post hit me up this morning and they were like trump's provable approval rating is down due to fears of a recession it was almost like a victory lap there well we can vent so many people that a recession is coming despite the fact that we're a full employment well you know what women I'm sorry full employment we've convinced so many people were so excited we finally got his visit is his approval numbers down yes there in the thirties because we did it we convinced you that there's a recession coming sometime next year you have finally wore me down because only thirty eight percent of people like trump according to you well I'm gonna vote for Elizabeth Warren now believe pull you got me all you wore me down speaking of Elizabeth Warren I've got some audio here hold on a second I did have some audio here where did it go to. this is gonna take me too long to come to a common.

Dot com slash b w daily the uh for i'm wondering i'm david brown and this is business wars daily happy friday everyone well. It's every manager's nightmare chimaera public mistake one so obvious factually inaccurate but there's just no hiding it. That's exactly what happened to the marketing department. At mountain dew the iconic connick soda brand owned by pepsico back in june. The brand launched a campaign called the do nited states intending to celebrate the uniqueness of all fifty states is it designed bottle specific to each state and promised prizes to soda drinkers who collected all fifty but it made one glaring geographical error over on one map. It mistakenly assigned ownership of the upper peninsula to wisconsin for the record. The upper peninsula belongs to michigan. That's the twenty six thousand thousand acres of land that separates lakes michigan and superior as fast company notes yeah. It's hardly a priority for most fortune five hundred companies but not surprisingly residents of the upper peninsula or the u._p. Is the call. The region were quite miffed. The guy who runs the u._p._s. twitter handle a man named bugsy sailor triple triple dog dared the brand to come out with a special upper peninsula branded mountain dew and to give a free case to every u._p. Resident well. We wouldn't be too surprised to find business schools using this case as an example of what to do when you're caught in a blender pepsico took bugsy sailor seriously asli that's right within a day mountain dew vice president of marketing nico- portwood got in touch with sailor assured him the brand would make a special upper peninsula salah bottle now. They needed suggestions for what to put on it. Portwood asked residents of the u._p. They're called uber's to tell pepsi co. What was special about the remote region then the brand designed new label and plastered on nine hundred six bottles of mountain dew gave the sodas away at the upper peninsula state fair where by the way they also gave the ninety thousand attendees chance to dunk mountain dew employees in a dunk tank talk about eating crow more seriously. The brand also redid digital t._v. commercials commercials giving the upper peninsula back to its rightful state on the map. What pepsico couldn't do was to sell the branded soda to come out with quickly one thing to navigate the tricky approval processes and regulations necessary to put it on store shelves well that would have taken too long portwood told fast company in the process mountain dew grew hundreds of thousands of new fans on social media mostly from the u._p. And got a boatload of publicity so what could have been an embarrassing flop turned into a refreshing win for a brand that unlike most sodas is still doing well rival coke as the country's most popular soda but surprisingly mountain dew is the fourth most popular soda in the country. That's according to the motley fool which says its success. Ass is largely regional mountain. Dew is particularly popular in appalachia. The south and the midwest and now in one tiny corner of michigan mountain dew is now number one problem wondering this is business business wars daily this week's episodes were written edited and produced by late apetit ran emma portland edits. How Do Spaghetti Plots Help Predict Storms?

"Today's episode is brought to you by the podcast food three sixty postmark murphy's celebrity chef and restaurant tour with help from his friends the restaurant industry takes a three sixty look at the world of food history science and culture tune into food three sixty with new episodes every friday listen and subscribe on apple podcasts i heart radio app or wherever you get your podcast welcome to brain stuff the production of i heart radio hey brain stuff lauren vogel bomb here as they lead the hurricane season began on june first twenty nineteen and runs through november thirtieth the national oceanic and atmospheric association predicted a range of between nine and fifteen storms will be big enough to merit names that is storms wins thirty nine miles per our about sixty three kilometers per hour or higher forty eight of these were predicted to become hurricanes into four of those were forecast becoming a major hurricanes in category three four or five that is with sustained winds of hundred eleven miles per hour or a hundred and seventy nine kilometers per hour or higher those categories are from the severe simpson hurricane windscale which explains the severity of damage the combi expected from each hurricane category based on the winds ability to collapse rubes walls trees in power infrastructure at different speeds the aid in forecasting efforts meteorologist utilize visualizations called spaghetti models also sometimes zona spaghetti plots to lay person spaghetti models looked like well a bunch of spaghetti strands thrown against the wall in reality though spaghetti pots are method of combining information from a variety of predictive models onto one map to come up with a picture of hurricanes potential track we spoke with daniel j leathers professor and director of meteorology in primatology program at the university of delaware he also serves of delaware state crime matala just an essay co director of the delaware environmental observing serving system he explained each model that's used predict hurricane pats end in many cases intensity have that path plotted on a map oh spaghetti pot does is take the results from all of these models and plot all of them on the same map understand why spaghetti pots are important you have to understand that there are a whole bunch of different modeling methods that are used track hurricanes and like presidential election polls were example they dumped all produce the same results the object of creating such a map according to leathers is just see the extent to which all the different models agree he said well when the pats are very similar to one another this means that all the models are agreeing to a large extent about the future path of the storm in contrast iffy individual parts are all over the place quote then that says there is great uncertainty in the models about where the storm will move in the future spaghetti pots are way of seeing all of the model result at one time not relying on just one model fair forecast they're very helpful in convened a certainty or uncertainty of a forecast the lines on the chart indicate the different paths protected by various models which have varying degrees of reliability leathers said the models including dynamical models using the physics of atmosphere statistical models and in some cases analog models to predict becoming movement of an individual storm these models come from meter a logical organizations from all across the globe places like the national weather service the british met office universities and so on some models are certainly thought to be better than others they are very different and how they make predictions and then what their best at so what if any useful information can lay people get from looking at spaghetti pots leathers explains the most useful information is be certainty of the forecast again if all the apps are very similar the forecast certainty is high if the pastor very different the certainty is low it there's a great spread in the forecast tracks then that shows at the models are not doing a great job as a sweet in figuring out where this particular storm is likely to move in the future some hurricane models can be run in a few seconds on ordinary computer while others may require hours of calculation by a supercomputer spaghetti models have changed subtly over the years as computing power has improved end researchers have tweak their models based on need great volumes of datta we humans have been able together thanks to computers leathers says they approached the bald as more and more hurricane models are run in real time in technology has allowed for putting these models together into a spaghetti plot in a timely manner he predicts the number bottled in their sophistication is likely to continue to grow in the years ahead of today's episode where is it by patrick j tiger and produced by tyler clang "People. Fucking hated already though, they're like the communities turned on it because it isn't. Every new match mediates every it is the way of communities. Always hate everything. That's the answer. If you put ten thousand people to get into. We love you, folks. So they do the snow map each of the maps has kind of a little bit different flavor. Right. Like, they're different paces. The first one is the one that a lot of people started playing on and you have to scrounge for loot for pretty good amount of time. Then you go fight in the mid game. That was the thing that I never played enough to kind of Intuit myself like you can obviously see artistically visually. What's different between maps? But like I never played enough to say like, okay here are the rhythms of the first map here. Like people said like, oh, the desert map has bigger wide open spaces sniping is more important there. Yeah. Like, I never got that level of nuance because I didn't sing enough time in. So the bigger map is a little bit slower. You probably won't have a vehicle because it's a lot more landmass. Even though it's still the same eight by eight and it is very much a sniper focus map, like you're you're going to be your encounters are one hundred meters. Plus for the most part, whereas on Aranjuez the first map like it's kind of all over there's some machine gun encounters in towns, there's big long range encounters across fields and hills. More more structures to hide in that. And they kind of gradually added stuff to that original map to kind of bring it up guys. They learn more what people are into they did the jungle maps and ach and that became just fucking counterstrike for twenty two minutes. This moment, that's the small map. And it's it's small it has way more loot because there's fewer areas, but it ends up being like third party central because you're fighting and as soon as you hear somebody shooting you just start running toward the bullets. And then you kill whoever wins that fight. And then somebody kills you. And then whoever's the last person to run up to the last night wins basically to get through thirty. It's getting third parties to third party. However, so then the snow map kind of was the was the best of both worlds. Right. It's like a little bit of slower pace. It's the circles are dynamic like they are in San oxo. They like the original game. The circle speed is fixed in the first two maps. So it's always like the second one runs the size. It's much smaller.

"The two states, New York is as divided as California. Geographically, the entire state is red except for the city's going across the state buffalo Rochester, Syracuse Albany. But even with those cities dean tire all of upstate would be is a red state would be red state if it's split except for New York City, obviously New York City screws it all up these state legislature. The state Senate used to be read. New York was a red state non presidential elections. But in local elections can't Newark wasn't red state until a couple months ago. And they're now blue for the first time, and they've gone all in with abortion laws and all the rest. So some Republicans are flirting with seating. And what that looks like which has zero percent chance of happening. But it is revealing of the great cultural divide that we talk about from time to time. So this is a letter in the new York Daily News several Republicans in Albany are offering dopey plans to split the big city and its environs which pay the bills. So this is what the city does the city pays the bills and provide the entertainment from the rural stretches. One Senator wants an economic impact study of a rupture easy. We get richer. You get poorer. So that is a New York City person talking about it. Saying fine. You guys leave and you'll be worse off. I believe just revealing their urban arrogance. So what upstate back and? Not going to quote, the whole thing here. But the short of it is. If we split..
