What Are Yields Doing?
"Start with another hire move for the market stocks rallying into the close adding to yesterday's gains recouping all of monday's losses and this week's wild swings got our traders flagging some eye-popping moves or traders have come up with the three most ridiculous charts in the markets. We kick it off with the ten year yale falling as low as one point one three percent yesterday morning before rebounding all the way back up to one point three percent guy. This was on your radar and we've been together a long time. I think you realized pretty quickly. I'm not the brightest bulb and the knife dry. You know what i'm saying. But one thing i do know is the biggest economy in the history of the world. Ten year yields the most should be the most liquid security out there. It should not go in my opinion from one. Forty one down one and a quarter back to one forty down to one thirteen up to one thirty all in the course of basically twelve trading days. It doesn't make a lot of sense. Bond volatility is extraordinarily. Where's executive equity. Volatility is not. Something's wrong here. That chart to me speaks to potentially some disruptions going forward in the equity market bond volatility lead equity volatility back in february of twenty twenty. I think one of the verge of that again. Melissa

Part 61 vs. Part 141
"What's walling. Bobby how are you. i'm good. I have been looking forward to this show and the reason they haven't done it sooner as the amount of research time i think i put into it This is all about part sixty one flight training versus part one forty one flight training. Something that i talk about on a regular basis. I've actually learned a lot in my research so might change some of my talk tracks you as a dp gift. Check rides to students that have participated in both parts. Sixty one one forty-one training and today we hope to cover all things that come up in our questions in dialogue about this stuff to help students. I guess make the right decision based on some real content that we're gonna share today so when i i i mean man when i first started flying. I don't even think he went told me anything about sixty one hundred forty one but a lot of times students come in here. They're probably child of airline pilot and they have heard about parts sixty one apart. One forty one and a half some questions. If you could rewind back before before you all the knowledge of now what would your earlier thoughts beyond just the fifty thousand foot view of part sixty one forty one one forty one well first of all when we think of their regulations there are certain sections of the regulations that we become very familiar with his pilots and In general part sixty one has to do with certification of pilots So if you wanna know gee how many hours do i need to have to become a commercial pilot whore or how much Night cross country time. Do i need to have to become a private pilot. In general you'd look under part sixty one. The has to do with certification however part one forty one is the area the regulations that governs approved flight schools so When when you wanna get a pilot certificate or rating you're gonna be fall under one of these sets of regulations either parts sixty one or part one forty one i would say probably the vast majority of flight schools out there on the real world are Are part sixty one. I i don't have any idea of how many parts sixty one schools we have versus part one forty one schools but i would say the majority is part sixty one part one forty one. is f. a. approved flight schools and and to become a part one. Forty one school. You need to have a special authorization from the a. and be designated as such. There's a lot a lot more oversight if you will from the faa under a part one forty one school. There's a lot more structure under apart. One forty one school. in fact you know they'll actually come in and inspect your facilities and they'll say okay you've got x. Number of briefing rooms x number of classrooms okay. you're gotta simulator. They will allow look at all your airplanes and and you know they do more than just look all you and and certainly they will look at your record keeping system whether it's electron or or paper record keeping system so You know the the first question is which do i do. Part one forty one or part sixty one th. They're both right. Neither one of them is wrong. One of them may be better suited for you than the other. But they're certainly both right. I all my training coming up Back in the day was under part. Sixty one in fact Well there was. There was one one forty one school at the airport. That is fine but all mine was done on part sixty one. I will say from an examiner standpoint. the check ride that the applicant is gonna get is exactly the same. I'm not gonna Give a different check ride to a one forty one student versus apart sixty one students going to be exactly the same There is a little bit You know when. I when i go in and and get some free approvals and and go through the eye akra process. I do have to enter the the name of the flight school. If it's a part part one forty one um and i have to have their their designation authorization number Versus part sixty one. You don't have to do that. There's no place to put down the flight school and apart sixty one application In an apart- sixty one application. I'm going to be looking at the log book and Extensively in going through all the flight times and so forth where part one forty one really. What i'm looking for is a graduation certificate that says that the applicant graduated from the approved chorus. That they're they're taking a check ride for.

The Most Important Chart for the Markets
"We start off tonight with the most important charter in the market. Because of course we would according to one of our traders check out the yield curve spread between ten and two year treasuries at its highest level since february twenty eighteen. So our rates off to the racist. Could this rate shock crush this record rally karen. You flag this yeah. I don't know it will crush this record rally. We don't want rates to skyrocket to quickly. I mean this is a big move but still you know. The absolute is seventy eight basis points but it is sort of telling us that the expectation is that the economy. Oh heat up and we've seen that. The resources traded that tim talks about. We've seen in energy. We're seeing it in the banks Even though they don't really aren't giant to ten spread they do trade that way. So it's indicative of the expectation of a heating economy. Maybe also more stimulus. So that's sort of how position but i also have a big inflation bet on because i do think there is a chance that inflation gets away from the fed and i don't know what they would do in the shorter to medium term the timeframe though tim i mean it's got to be a goldilocks right. Just enough inflation. Not too much inflation. It's gotta be just right. Yeah i mean it definitely not too hot not too cold and you have a case where normalized rates coming out of this and whatever that means also but where we were coming into kobe remember. We're somewhere between one. Forty one seventy five and the ten year so pointed out what the trades that have been beneficiaries or have had the extra boost that comes from this and the resources trade. I mean look coppers three fifty. We haven't been three fifty since march of two thousand and thirteen and some of the trades that look like it's back to the future in the resource look at steel companies. And i'm not just talking about us. Steel look at mattel which arguably the biggest deal company in the world or posco. These you know mt. pk ex. Those are names. you can track over here freeport. We talk about all the time. So i think you have a case where the assessment of all of this to me is more about normalizing. It's not that we're in great shape. And in fact i think we're in a tough place for markets and even some of these trades when we've normalized but we aren't near normalization at this point then later on fiscal even if that's disappointing number Infrastructure to me is is going to continue to rally in these trades member again. you don't buy commodities when you're when they're cheap you buy them when they're running and when they're expensive and i think there's a lot left to do here.
Laura Jackson Of Towpath shares Her Roast Chicken Recipe
"Name is Laura. Jackson I'M The, head chef and CO owner of Towpath, which is on the regent's canal in East London. And I'd like to share one of my favorite recipes with today, which is race chicken. Obviously. A very, very simple recipe but I think one that is quite hard to pull off properly and. Rest of chickens in my life. So I think by now I think got the recipe down to T. it's a great one to cook at home because it is so simple and it's a crowd pleaser suits quick to prepare, and the reason I chose this recipe is because while one is totally delicious but. For me my sort of philosophy and the way I love to cook is not anything and the great thing about roast chicken is once you've served the chicken, you can then make a stock with the caucus. which you to make lots of different stews and soups and broths, and then there's also tends to be quite a lot of meet the you miss from carving, which can then be used for another thing. So essentially, you can get three or four dishes from one thing which makes me very, very happy. So all you need to do is get roast chicken. Of Asli, I would say, definitely. To get chicken that has had a good life. So free range organic or from a farm where you know that the having a nice time and I used to always roast chickens with butter but then maybe seven or eight years ago I had to give up Daria had some health issues. So I switched to using olive oil and actually feel that it is much better than using butter because the crispiness of the skin, you can take it to another level because. The burning properties of olive oil much lower than butter. So definitely go for olive oil. For Chicken you definitely want one big juicy lemon, and then head of garlic. If you've got some Tarragon, obey leaves to stuff up. It's bumpy can do that as well but that's not huge thing. So really super super simple. What you want to do I get your oven I would say almost as hot as possible. Obviously if you've got very strong oven, I would do it at about kind of t twenty to thirty, and then I would cut the garlic in half and. Stick. It up. It's bomb with some bay leaves. Tarragon if you have. Cut The lemon half squeeze it all the juice out like you can possibly get out and squeeze all over the chicken and again, then put the lemon up. It's bum. It just cooks more evenly if you've got lots of things stuffed up inside it. Then I put lots of pepper and some Odin Sea salt, and then a really really generous gluck of olive oil. Than, just get your hands in just rub it all over. And then pop it in the oven breasts side up an idea between twenty five to thirty five minutes at a super super high heat. Basically, this is the stage where you want the skin to go. Really really crispy. So, anywhere between that time, and then once the skin is super crispy, you want to turn the heat down really really low. So I turn it down to about one forty, one fifty. And then Cook it for another twenty five to thirty five minutes. So total, you want to cook the chicken for an hour. So if it's super high for twenty five, then you delay for thirty five. Vice Versa and then you basically take out I. don't based or touch it during its cooking and let it rest for a good twenty minutes to half an hour and then it's good to go.

How to get a Helicopter License
"Let's talk about what it takes to get a helicopter certificate because I'm sure that's probably the first thing in people's minds. What are the FAA requirements for getting a helicopter private? Well. You're GONNA, find the requirements under part sixty, one, one, zero nine, which is where you're gonNA find the airplane requirements as well, and essentially it's a very closely mirrored to what the airplane requirements are you going to a total of forty hours under a part sixty one school Twenty hours of that is required to be dual ten hours of it is required to be a solo on your own, and then the other ten hours are generally made up of preparatory work or some of the students weaknesses in what they need to prep for the the ride and I, think everybody knows that forty hours is the minimum. Certainly airplanes people end up with more than that. What's kind of? The typical range of ours that people end up when they get their private in what drives, that WH- take some people longer than others. So all the requirements for helicopters were really based off of the airplane requirements. If you look anywhere in the far aim, you're gonNA see a lot of mention about the airplanes and it's not until you get down to the bottom of the regulations where it says except for helicopters. Helicopters can do this or this doesn't apply to helicopters special be far for an example, doesn't apply to helicopters as far as not being able to get it at any time you can request it at any time but yes, a typically people get their license about fifty hours seems to be difficult I. Don't I'm hearing more and more than in the airplane world fixed-wing world that taken people closer to the fifty hour mark in I. Don't know what that what that's caused by. Like you said and like the regulation say the forty hours is really minimum. I have had one of my students get. It is little as four three hours. But for the most part, the average is around fifty hours or so in helicopters I can say they're quite a bit different than airplanes. There's a lot more moving parts in just getting the actual hand. Eye Coordination Down to fly the helicopter is probably typically what takes a little bit more time. Now on top of that, you know it has to do with people schedule. Everybody's busy whether you have a job or a family or your own school or whatever. It might be. You know the more consistent you are in your training, the bathroom it's GonNa go typically. Nowadays, it other than when you and I flew. It's pretty nice because we have the Internet and we have. Why a few programs on that, you can take ground school online whether it be three o'clock in the afternoon or three o'clock in the morning whatever works for you, and then you and I. Can. Sit Down with our students and do information clarification making sure that people understand what they're learning. What about folks like me? Who have a airplane certificate and actually have one helicopter lesson on my belt Bell let's forget about that. What are the our the requirements different for someone who's already a pilot? Yeah. So right there the requirements are thirty hours flight time twenty hours of dual and ten hours of Solo. For the most part. All My ad on students are still taking somewhere in the forty hour range to fifty hour range, just depending on their schedule but the the minimum requirements drop by ten hours. Now, if you go to a part one, forty, one school that typical forty hours initially drops down to thirty five hours. That being said it still minimum the way I run my flight school as far as the education the syllabus recording I run at very much like a part one, forty, one school. So from a learning skill standpoint airplane pilots at any kind of a disadvantage because we need to unlearn things that we thought we knew. Well. I can tell you go on the opposite way for sure since I did that getting my helicopter first and then my but yeah. So there are two things that really pop out my head. One of the things is you know airspeed is our lifeline in an airplane in a helicopter that's not the case rotor RPM. Line the one of the. GonNa Notice with new pilots or on pilots. I should say when they're coming in for approach, they don't like getting slow whereas one. You know what you do when you coming on approach whether we're practicing shallower, not steep approaches whatever they may be we end in a hover. And airplane pilots don't like when you touch the ground. You're still going down the runway though is just getting them to understand that it's okay to lose airspeed because it's rotor RPM that we're concerned with the other thing is in a stall or an engine failure. One of the first things they tell you to push forward to regain airspeed don't do that in a helicopter, particularly a two bladed rotor system helicopter because that'll put you into A. Low gravity situation, and if you're in a low gravity alone g situation, you can actually aerodynamically take take the fuselage of the aircraft and the rotor system that is no longer supporting the fuselage and you can actually snap that off similarly to over controlling an airplane in saying Arab addict situation or windy situation breaking the wings off other want things that you need a particularly watch. The other thing is we don't lead with the rudders interns. We don't have rudders we have pedals, but they're anti Torque pedals in that strictly to keep the ball centered if you will or to keep the nose pointed into the wind, the more power you pull. The more anti left pedal that you need an opposite that of meeting right pedal when you're taking off in an airplane.
Control The Plane and Don't Hit Anything
"We really have to concentrate on aircraft control and trying to avoid any collisions with terrain vehicles, etc. One of the things that we do aviators and we learn when we're aviators is we start with. Navigate and communicate mantra, and that's A way that we can pray our ties things, but there's times when we need more than just that, we have to internalize in not just talking about it and one of the things that we're finding now in this whole pandemic and it happens when people stop flying and we're seeing that throughout general aviation is that we see more accidents incidents in even people that are dropping out because they're afraid of. There's ways that we can actually hopefully maybe promote the vision industry and promote you to start getting back into flying and also do it safely, and that's the most important thing. So, let's talk a little bit about this and you know Eric that whole I wanna ask you real quickly because you kind of in that that collegiate environment. Navigate Communicate Mantra as far as what has happened here because you're you have so many students go through. Have you seen this these challenges of people having issues coming back from flying or not flying for? Awhile. Assure absolutely. So when everything sorta hit the skids in March mid March late March. WE SHUT flight training down effective April I was a cruel April fool's Day joke but it was real And we didn't resume flight training until the fifteenth of June so. We had two and a half months go by where students worked flying and when everybody came back. It it was an interesting thing. So instead of just picking up at the last lesson where everybody left. We thought it was important. To, basically re standardize everybody. So the flight instructors went back through standardisation training which. Requires whatever, year. Under part one, forty one, we re standardized everybody anyway, and then we brought all this bag standardized them and it's amazing I mean you know that it's true. But when you see it happen on that kind of scale the the amount that those physical skills degrade over a short period of time is is extreme. But. More important than that, and maybe the things we take for granted are those soft skills like collision avoidance like clearing turns before you start maneuvers right? And as the airspace particularly here in central, Florida started to get flooded with more and more aircraft if people were coming back. We started seeing a lot of students reporting. Hey, like We were in the middle of the clearing, someone other aircraft, and just off the just off the wing and change your altitude change your position. Just. Doesn't happen. Anyway it's just to your point Carl I think when when we have a hiatus like that when we come back, we're so focused on the physical flying skills. I hope I still remember the stick and rudder stuff, which is important. Sure. But those soft skills like looking outside the airplane at a staring at the flight instruments that we know those things but we. That stuff degrades to. When we're looking outside the airplane trying to avoid those are like you said, some of the sauce skills, clearing turns, etc.. One one thing that I think that degrades quickly is our ability to make decisions. But I think part of that can be attributed somewhat I'd like to kind of think outside the box here because our our degradation of are flying skills are currency our proficiency because I think what happens is whether we think we are proficient or not. We actually those skills start diminishing and we have to put more brain energy Omar Energy towards that physical flying, which means that we take away from like those soft skills you you talked about and that's where we talk about currency and proficiency I know that now especially at some of the airlines this whole. Extension of the Ninety Day rule has been talked about. Quite a bit and been reduced because of that because. Again going back to we we see that those physical skills come back quickly but during that period of bringing those physical skills back, we do grade some of those other soft skills like you talked about. So are you current or you proficient I think that's kind of where we're going with. That is the difference between currency and proficiency and currency is more of an FAA turn and it means that your legal in my mind truly true proficiency is like what you're talking about Eric.

Flight Training, Flying & Aviation Career Questions: Renting During Coronavirus and PPL
"My last month and he part sixty one school need some help deciding whether I should go for one. Forty one or stay so for those of you. That don't know what this question is. Is referring to part sixty one in part one forty one or two different parts of the law that say how you conduct flight training part sixty one is basically any fight? School can do that. It's it's non-regulatory a lot of and and just about anyone can set it up. Whereas part one forty one is very structured very regulated and more more supported by I guess even financial institutions universities things of that nature. That are just little more airline driven. I think is where the part one four schools are. So here's the thing I think regardless of where you're going to go and what you're GonNa do the best thing to look at is how you're getting along with your flight school and your instructor if you really enjoyed your part sixty one experience and you feel like you did well then why not stay right there you know it really depends more on the quality of instruction you're getting rather than anything else so think that through before you go and try it out but I definitely wouldn't hold you back from going to the one forty one school if you felt like that was best for you often. Those one forty one schools again better financing and options to push through. So that's just kind of what you're looking at all right. Do you think it is a good idea to rent a plane right now? I'm worried about renting a plane. That is contaminated. You know honestly guys like I have a family and and I love the fly and a big part of me just wants to go out there and fly right I. I've said no to my friends this last week that you know no I i. I can't go flying right now. I'm going to lock down and just stay out of this for awhile. That is the smart thing to do right now. We we all really need to be diligent. Help each other out to get through. This and I know it's weird. I told my family and my friends so many times that it feels like we're living in a movie and this doesn't feel real but you need to come to that reality that we have to help each other out right now so flying. Normally I think so Just wait it out okay. If we waited out we'll get back to flying quicker and things will get better faster. I'm going to try to keep bringing you content so you can get through this time but Find ways to improve yourself at home during this process. Read some good books Watch some good educational videos. Maybe it's been awhile since you've been inside a ground. School could even start ground school again. I can help you out with that. Whatever it is you know. Make this a time to improve outside the airplane while helping your fellow humans. Stop this thing blocked this thing and and help us get over this hump because this is something that we all have to together. It's not just going to be partial
