Oh, hex, angelic acid. You know what, Steve? Your brain is 60% that I wait. And of that 25% 25% needs to be d h A. You know what? I use an analogy in my practice. People understand calcium and bone health right if you don't have calcium in your diet You don't supplement with calcium. Your bones are going to get brittle and weak. That's what happens to bones. Bones need calcium for their normal strength and structure. Now it was the brain. It's the same D h A. For normal structure. We use this for one brain north, communicate with another to build out the brain. The serotonin, the dopamine, all the feel good neurotransmitters. So must must have. It must get it back in there so important And with this cruel Omega 50. Plus, we've increased the level of D h A because we put the concentrated omega threes in Internet. With curly maker 50. If you were a touch on the study and tell us how this works, right, right. That was a great study. In fact, that's the reason I started taking cruel oil about 56 years ago. But after 30 days, they were 38% more comfortable. The researchers didn't stop there. They looked at flexibility of the joints. They looked at phone. One of the joints all improved that I call this the crew oil advantage. So if you're out there and you're taking fish oil Well, fish oil is great. I mean, fish oil is in here. It's so important, but you're not going to get the same joint advantages just aren't quill. However, I have not burped it even once because I like it better than regular fish oil. The capsule sizes smaller and it's easy to swallow. This is big the capsules. Size being smaller, and I'm really glad you pick that one out because safety Suzanne picks out a very important point there. I don't think we really harped on this enough because people have trouble swallowing those huge horse pills. You know those usual mega three pills. These are tiny. So this is why this is such a breakthrough. These capsules are so small and easy to swallow. Anybody can easily swallow them. But at the same time we've increased the dosage of krill by 67%. However, I have not burped it even once because I like it better than regular fish oil. The capsule side Smaller and it's easy to swallow. This is big the capsule size being smaller, and I'm really glad you picked that one out because safety Suzanne picks out a very important point there. I don't think we really harped on this enough because people have trouble swallowing those huge horse pills. You know those usual mega three pills. These are tiny. So this is why this is such a breakthrough. These capsules are so small and easy to swallow, anybody can easily swallowed them. But at the same time we've increased the dosage of krill by 67%. We boosted the antioxidant power the vitamin D is in there. We supercharge the whole thing with the high Omega Three highly concentrated fish oil So important for the heart. So yes, Safety Suzanne. She really nailed it there. I want to read a couple myself. This one in front of me blessed she's in the 55 to 64 age bracket. Fort Worth, Texas, five out of five stars, she writes. How To Get Your Health Back On Track with Dr. Elizabeth Boham
"Today we're gonna talk about malnutrition which you might think is a problem for the developing world but it turns out that almost every american is malnourished. One way or the other. And we're gonna talk about why we're talking about how to diagnose it and what to do about it. And why is such a big factor in so many underlying health conditions and often missed by traditional medicine. We're gonna take a functional medicine perspective on this today. In our special episode of doctors pharmacy called housecall and again. I welcome back dr liz with boheme my colleague and friend on the medical director kilter wellness center starting physician in ardiden md. I physiology cheese. Incredible a team member in our team and faculty of the institute Medicine and does so much to banfield of nutrition science and functional medicine around the world. So welcome back. Liz thank you mark. It's great to be with you okay. So we think of malnutrition. We went to medical school. We learned all about it right. We learn about kwashiorkor and marasmus and zero valmy and ricketts barre barre pellagra and all these frigging diseases. That we don't really see in the west that are really increasingly rare because of improved access to food nutrition. And so we kinda have pretty much. Got that as our understanding of malnutrition and we were told. Basically food provides all the nutrients you need. You don't need vitamins and supplements makes expensive urine and we should just not follow on that track and study after study comes out showing how this interventional trial with omega three or four later this that doesn't work And and so the consumers wondering what's going on because it's clear that are is depleted and that people are eating a lot of crap and that thought a poor nutrition going on but but is there really a pandemic of malnutrition which can show up in someone who's thin or someone who was extremely overweight so Talk about what the state of our nutrition. Malnutrition is in america today and why we should all be concerned about being malnourished and what that means for our rural health you know so win were malnourished means. Were not getting the proper nutrients that we need for our body to function properly. And there's so many that's like our vitamins minerals fighter nutrients even our protein are healthy fats. And you're absolutely right. We see of under nutrition. Malnutrition in people who are underweight but also in people who are overweight and that's called obesity malnutrition and unfortunately it's more and more prevalent not just in the united states but worldwide

"It seems that the participants taking Omega threes had some pretty incredible benefits here. When you talk about memory, that is something that kind of slips as we get older. Tell us more about this. Would you write? This was a great study because what they did. He was very interesting. This had a bit journal Neurology. And what they did is they checked the omega three level in the red blood cells of women. 1000 women, older women, So this is a big study 1000 women. But then again eight years later, and the women were on average 78 years old At this point, they did M R. I scans of the women's brains and what they found. Steve. This is so amazing. They found that the brain volume for the women that had Maura Omega threes in their red blood cells, the women that had more omega threes in their red blood cells. They had higher brain volume. They were actually maintaining Maura of the youthful size of the brain. Their brains were bigger. You could see it plainly in the Emory measurements. That's really cool, but not only that there's a very important part of the brain notice the hippocampus very important part of the brain that facilitates learning, facilitates memory and It was greater brain volume in the hippocampus for people that had more omega threes in their red blood cells. That's how you can really measure how much I'm making three. Someone's taking in. So if you take omega threes, you will raise your Omega Three index. We know this. It's a fact you take Omega threes. You raise that. So you want to have more omega threes in your bloodstream? Very important that I would infuses and all the cell membranes into the joints into the brain, etcetera..

"And anchovies on the cover, I was thinking I could call it for little things or or I could find what was common to them on what turns out to be coming to mall. Is omega three fatty acids. Everyone in the United States, I think at this point is heard of the Omega three supplements. Many millions of Americans take them on a regular basis. So it's really you know, through self interest. I think that we become interested in the rest of the world and the rest of the ocean. So I decided to use this sort of amber colored pill as the lens through which I would show people the very bottom rungs of the way the ocean works. Do you take Omega three supplements? I do not. I eat quite a bit of fish. I mean, I did for one year during the research for this book. I did eat fish pretty much every single meal for a year and I actually went to this company called Omega Quant and had my finger pricked and they sent me a test. I pricked my finger. And I tested the Omega three levels in my blood after I had eaten fish for a year. And I'm also tested all the different metrics that our associate ID with omega threes, cholesterol, triglycerides and stuff like that, But no. Generally I'm not a pill taker. I'm gonna supplement taker. I wanted to try and do the work kind of in a way outside of the realm of supplements and They certainly talked to many supplement manufacturers who talked to a lot of people who took them on a regular basis. I went deep into the way supplements are marketed to people. I went to the good to the summit of the Global Organization for EPA and DHS, Omega threes at the Ritz Carlton in the Canary Islands. I really They did everything but take supplements if you want. If you see what I'm saying, so I'm curious. What did that little finger prick reveal? After a year of eating fish? Well, it revealed that I have After that I had blood of a sort of Japanese person. Or maybe a Mediterranean person. A pre introduction of industrial food. So I had ah, levels. 10.5% of my blood lipids were omega three fatty acids. And that, according to Omega Quant, anyway, is the desirable well into the desirable range. Many Americans they're making three levels are below 5% and one of the problems with this book, and we're what difficulties of this book was trying to understand what is a real study and what isn't a real study. So everything or of not everything. A lot of things associated with Omega threes tends to focus on what are called association studies. So in other words, we seem to see these high omega three levels in certain people, and those people seem to have lower levels of cardiovascular disease. So there's an association is a correlation, but there's not a causation and what I always liked uses. The example is that you know, the worst example of an association study would be say. Somebody who says I live in a White house. The president lives in the White House. Therefore, I am the president so, but it is. It doesn't work that way. Omega three levels in your blood or high. You have load rate of cardiovascular disease. Did the Omega threes caused that? Or was it some other thing that was generally associated with your lifestyle that also included Omega threes. That's really the question that lays at the bottom of a lot of the debates about weather, Omega threes in supplement form, work or not, So let's start at the beginning of the book and of where these things come from. The Predator prey split. Yeah, People often think that Omega threes are made by fish. But in fact, Omega threes are made largely by Clinton by fighter plankton, photosynthetic plankton. And they're part of what are called Tyler quit membranes that are sort of the frame around a photovoltaic cell in a photosynthetic piece of algae. So that's what they were used for primarily the way other life forms get Omega threes into their body is primarily by eating things that have omega threes in their body. So you have Little fish that will eat plankton. And they will bio accumulate that omega threes in their blood lipids. And then that, in turn, gets passed on to the larger fish that eat them and then eventually we get them by eating the fish. There's a little bit more subtlety in the book, like The book goes very deep into early paleo history, And there's kind of an interesting split, where in early plankton one half of the tree goes in the direction of photosynthesis, and you know things that grow there to create their own energy from the sun. But the other direction goes in direction of predatory plankton. And what's interesting to see is that where is the Omega Three in the photosynthetic plankton is used really, pretty much as part of photosynthesis. In the more predatory plankton. It immediately gets incorporated into sensory things into sensing light, for example, and in fact, there are some early forms of plankton that have this very early form of an eye that will help them perceive movement in front of them. And turns out that early I is high in omega three fatty acids, so it's there and photosynthesis, but it's also there in perception. So to me that makes this kind of magical mix that we nonfiction writers are always looking for. So one of the things that's fascinating about this whole story. Well, some people might say there's two stories. There's the human Health and development story, and there's the ecological Web story. But of course, really, It's both one story. So this whole idea of way back way. Way way back. The idea that the plankton was actually clearing the atmosphere of carbon allowing oxygen to flourish. Yep. And so now we're sort of at the back end of that, right? Yeah. I mean, I had this sort of funny realization that you know, early Earth we know had very high levels of Seo too. Win photosynthetic vital plankton started processing that and turning in a tow oxygen. They actually cooled the planet and they actually made the planet less hospitable to them because they evolved in this very warm carbon rich environment. And so other plankton had to evolve to kind of enter that knish. What's interesting now, as we burn billions and billions and billions of tons of carbon and put it back into the atmosphere that we're actually recreating the ancient atmosphere that those original plankton destroyed, So in other words, You know, you could say that. Oh, humans were destroying the earth that we grew up in. Or you could say weirdly, that were part of some giant plank tonic cycle, And as we release all this carbon that plankton stored, we're going to create a boom in those plaintiffs. So You know? Depends how you want to look at the world. You wanna look at it through the end of the telescope? That's plankton. Are you looking through the end of the telescope? That's humans. So now we get to the part of where we find something that we think is going to be good for us. Mm hmm. And we decide we're going to go after it and use it. You say that No one is ever truly cared about the sea. It's been treated as a mine from which wealth is taken and never returned. That's true. E mean, we're at the dawn of two possible moments, one good when terrible. The terrible moment is when we sort of head forever in the direction of destroying and plundering the ocean. The good direction is that we are starting to see the error of our ways and that we are starting to understand what it means to do sustainable fisheries management..

Are There Benefits to Adding Omega-3s to Your Supplement Stack?
"Think in a metabolical healthy scenario. You can consume high amount of a mega threes. even those fragile ones. Let's say fish oil and not be at risk of a high amount approximation but if you're inflamed tons of or excess. Uva you'd be b radiation or other forms of inflammation radiation and. It's it's it's hot oil or hasn't been treated properly or you're in a state of excess stress or high blood sugar. I think can do more harm than good to have like an omega three as part of your supplement stack interesting kind of depends on the scenario. Yeah but also. That's where. I mean demonizing omega threes and particularly fish. Oil is where i think sometimes. There's a disconnect between looking at like like spec speculating mechanistically and what we see from like outcome. Data randomized controlled trials. That will use omega three supplements as an intervention to for for whatever it may be whether it's to reduce triglycerides. We know that there's now a pharmaceutical available. It's basically petrified hypertrophied. Epa right which is which is gone. It's an epa based oil that they've done. These large randomized clinical trials. In and from from what i understand the actually didn't do a similar trial on. Dha and epa which theoretically would induce even greater benefits you know from like a neural standpoints or cell membrane standpoint than just the epa based mega threes. So but you're right. Max like you can say that. Theoretically consuming fish oil because it's fragile would lead to peroxidase in your bloodstream. Yet when you look at the large human clinical trials. we're seeing like lower triglycerides better disease outcomes variety of factors that show that that's for some reason not occurring or it's it's you know. The best studies on a mega threes have been done showing the best health benefits. Come from the long chain. Epa dha a. definitely has benefits your body's gotta convert it and it uses delta six desaturate enzyme. Now i've heard that That process is very energy. depend and It's like very. I've heard some are like one to five percent gets converted the liver so like for everybody one. You know one part of la take in only one to five percent of that is going to be able to convert into epa. Dha your thoughts on that. Yeah the the research over the years has has different. People have measure it in different ways and gotten widely different results. So there's something not right because it should be consistent I think it's agreed. That women convert better than men. Okay that makes a lotta sense. Why because when a woman is pregnant she needs to feed one brain now and she needs to build another rice well. Her ability to convert alpha linoleic acid into epa and dha or especially dj. Were the brain as breaks. Omega three is very important men never get pregnant. Hardly ever get pregnant. "Well. Hey guys welcome. Back to the podcast. Today we're gonna talk about anxiety free with food. And we have the author of this great new book liana werner gray. She's a good friend of mine. She's written the earth diet cancer-free with food and now her new release anxiety free with fooding zaidi's such a big issue. There's so many people that are dealing with at especially with everything that's been going on in the world today and definitely a key link between gut health in the foods that were eating and how our brain is handling stress how reactive we are The way that we are processing the things are in our world and sewing. Zayed's is not something that is You know it's not a. It's not an end destination there. There's a lot of hope for a lot of things we can do for it and really starts with our nutrition lifestyle choices that were making so liana. Welcome to the podcast. Thank you so much. Thanks for having me on wolf for sure and again. This is such an important topic. And you know you're a young woman and so anxiety. Obviously all all all genders all demographics steel with anxiety but especially women and would love to hear your story. Yeah so anxiety. Apparently this year the stats have gone up to one in. Three people are really struggling with anxiety versus one in five last year in two thousand and nineteen. Now it's already into two one now. Yes so it's anxieties to skyrocketed and it does affect everyone end a small amount of anxiety to as a stress response is considered healthy. So if something happens to us and we naturally feel that stress. It's the mind in the body's way of saying okay need to have a resolution for this but anxiety that is happening for hours or days days. That is a severe anxiety that we need to be suffering worth of struggling with end. What i discovered was that there are actually some really simple and quick effective ways to clear out anxiety and he'll it especially with focusing on nutrition. Sir i was experiencing heightened amount of anxiety and i was curious as to where it was coming from because i have a lot of faith believe in god and goddess like dart have anxiety costs. All your kids on me. And i was constantly doing that so i was like. I don't think it's coming from from a spiritual reason. And i thought i don't think it's coming from a mental or emotional reason either and i thought this might be purely chemical and it could be a chemistry balanced my brain and so i went and got a blood tests. Done and sure enough isn't in one of the main things that if we're deficient in that we will have anxiety. According to science so short enough. I was deficient in her mega. Three fatty acids and my started taking fish oil supplements Wild fish and then eating more cheese hemp seeds and a matter of days. I could feel the difference. My brain felt more if that's visual. Nfl less scotteri. My nervous system felt more common for chris. I didn't feel more tired. I felt more alert and energize and it was incredible feeling and i thought wow if this is if it's as simple as this and a lotta people are also chemically imbalanced with their physical buddy than i wanna share this answer. I really went down the rabbit hall set of researching putting this book together and found out a lot of other nutritional reasons for the causes of anxiety and then do a lotta research. What foods can help clear out. And then what food. You're actually proven genetic that actually causes anxiety as soon as we put them into a mouse. Yeah it's a really good. Really good intro to this topic. And so we know that fish oil. Epa ya the long chain omega threes really play important role in the brain and also play important role in our inflammatory process. And so you know where people have been told when they have mood disorders that these things are chemical imbalances but the chemical imbalance is really downstream. It's you know it's not. The root cause cause oftentimes has to do with nutrient deficiencies and chronic inflammation. In the brain. We have inflammation in the brain. Were going to be more. Reactive are neurons can be closer to thresholds. they're going to be Firing off from stimuli. That probably probably shouldn't be firing off from right. Which makes them more reactive. And you know makes you have a lot more. Cha challenges just trying to control your emotions and so glad that you're able to figure that out and make a threes are really critical at this. So let's talk about the relationship between the gut and what's happening in the gut and what's happening in the brain. Yeah we'll i know you're a gun expert and i love the work that you do on this and serve all of the studies on anxiety pointed to the gut brain connection and how connected they are and that we have certain gut microbiome fascinating studies. That i found was that people with anxiety have a difference dot microbiome than people who dart have severe anxiety. That was fascinating to me. So then that tells us that we can change our gut microbiome and that will therefore change the anxiety that we experience and then we can also work on the the brain pot a bit and the part of it will reduce that. That's also going to change our gut microbiome so they work hand in hand with each other and so in my book. It's full of recipes and foods that really helped cultivate are very a very healthy gut. Microbiome and healthy gut environment and helped clear out d talks. I'm a huge advocate for detoxing especially people are just new to getting into this then. A detox is totally critical to clean out. That you know the dirty water so to speak dirty water we can fill it out with the clean water so doing a detox to clear out the gut and then start rebuilding it with all the good stuff and that helps out brain sorry much. Their source are connected that gut brain connection.

"David Snow having eggs for breakfast this morning, you might want to analyze the yolks. Never, ever thought of this. You know, I always do this. But here's a study from the Journal of Food Science. Regarding eggs, the color of your yoke. Well, your egg's yolk is a window to the quality of your eggs, Nutrition and, you know, makes sense right? Because if it's deep orange, that means the hand is getting lots of karate noise. That's what makes it orange. The pigment, the Vitamin A precursor. It's what makes carrots yellow on this first found in the plants that the hands eat as well as some of the bugs. If it's mustard yellow, That means the your egg is high in omega threes. And that's probably the result of the hand eating more chia seeds or flax seeds are the high omega three diet that the farmers air feeding them Now, if it's pale yellow, which is common in store, bought eggs or commercially raised eggs. That means it's those air battery or caged hands. And, um, they're not as nutritious that those eggs aren't same with light yellow yolks. That means that the hands were fed a diet high in corn and wheat. And that's not so good for The fatty acid profile of the eggs irrespective of the cholesterol. So do our yoke analysis and make sure and also the thicker the shell of your egg healthier. The chicken is from the chicken that laid that egg is probably gonna be healthier because more calcium and minerals in the diet, right? And I always whenever I cracked my eggs, which I did in the this morning, you know, it's a nice thick. It's harder to crack. You buy store body aches and you just captured on the counter and whoa! It's already broken. But you want thick shells and deep colored yolks. OK, so much for eggs since this is the breakfast, part of the For those of you eating breakfast or brunch. This morning. "One, I found out that inhibits the viruses ability to infect cells to inhibit the replication of already ineffective cells and three Sean it reduces infected cells resistance to treatment. With antiviral medications, So in other words, No. These anti viral medications that were taking for these viruses are actually boosted by people that are taking Claire sitting, so you know. I just wanted to bring this up because it just shows you that You mentioned the beginning of the show. You mentioned point you know, putting poison in your body and knowing and stuff like that. You're actually right. So When we have high blood pressure when we have other issues, we take medications and medications work very, very well. Andre do do their jobs, but with those medications You have collateral damage? That's the poison part that you were talking about. I assume yeah. And so like, for example, I take if I take Advil for pain out of the works great. I mean everybody out there who has pain. They take Advil relieve whatever your choice and say it is, it works great for the pain. But unfortunately there's a cost and that cost is swelling of the lower extremities, high blood pressure damage to your kidneys, bleeding ulcers and even death. You know those air that's collateral damage from those medications. What was great about these supplements. They give you collateral benefits. So you're taking resveratrol rewind because you're interested in its any inflammatory of facts. It's anti aging effects. But guess what? You're going to get collateral benefits, and you might. I'm not saying you know, this is a definite thing. I mean, obviously, they have studies that they think they're doing. There's actually a study from Canada. Canadians actually went to China. During the during the beginnings of the epidemic. The pandemic, and they're they're doing a study with acquires a pin on I haven't seen the results yet. But again, there are studies that show it helps with the flu. It helps with other viruses. You have to assume that it's got to be some positive effects with grown a virus. But my point is there. Is there a troll rewind. You're not going to get collateral damage. You actually get collateral benefits and This happens a lot with With the products, for example, you know you're taking an omega three we every week. Sean. We talk about Omega threes every single week there. We talked about it with, um with our hearts with our brain health. But you know if, if you recall there was there was a scientist Elizabeth Blackburn, who did studies that looked at kilometers Member Killem years. Sean, are those shoe laces the tips of the shoe laces, and that's the telomeres are kind of like the ends of our didna and at the at the ends of the DNA's. There's there's kilometers and they're like the caps to the Sedation to the shoe lace, and as we age, there's telomeres unwind. And we get damaged to Edna. And that's the theory behind what what Aging is and Elizabeth Blackburn studies showed that taking omega threes Actually protects those kilometers and Ford Omega threes can also have anti aging effects. S so again, just one of the many collateral benefits. Of taking an old man. That's just amazing. Omega that amazing find so thank your wife force because We? We've know we've been talking about it now for the last 1 10 months or so, as we've been battling this pandemic about health probiotic would be beneficial of vitamin D three is a must. Zink is you mentioned? Eyes and helping to build and maintain your immune system. And now we find it a resveratrol rewind has this queer sittin in it that is also helpful on battling and fending off viral infections. And if you are, if you do catch the virus on in some cases it can help stop it from replicating and Actually help antivirals treated so that that's an incredible fine. Thank you, Doctor for that we've heard from Sonny Sonny says. I've used rescue resveratrol rewind for many years, and one of the benefits I found is it helped my arthritis. Especially in my shoulders before taking resveratrol. I couldn't get a dental exam without making them upright the chair during exam a few times because of the shoulder pain Now that's not an issue. The doctor. In addition to what we've already discussed, how can his virtual rewind help pain or inflammation? Again, as I mentioned earlier was very troll, um, is very good, natural, anti inflammatory. And if you look at a lot of these pain Remedies that use you know that she she advertised on TV. One of their ingredients is resveratrol. Now I I looked at some of these and look at the ingredients and a lot of them aren't even the transfers very troll, which is the more You know, active form? Um, so you know, I think that again, you know, this goes to the your point of, you know, what are you taking? Is it you know, knowing what's behind the label? You know, just because it says resveratrol doesn't necessarily mean you're getting the appropriate resveratrol. On. Do you know we use that example with all the different types of fish oils. They're out there by something. It's official on it and might not even contain three essential fatty acids that we talked about. Same thing was with the resveratrol s so I can only really speak upon this product That was very trial. Rewind on. There. It is a very good anti inflammatory. It's also very good for our hearts. There was research that shows The rich spiritual man actually keep our hearts healthy by limiting the effects of cardiac fibrosis, which is a hardening of the heart tissue. There was also a study from the American Heart Association. That suggested the properties and red wine can help lower cholesterol and reduce the threat of at the rose Sclerosis, because, remember Sean what's one of the risk factors for for after a sclerosis? Or the hardening of our arteries is chronic inflammation on, according to the the American Heart Association, the Pali Pali, phenolic compounds and red wine. Appear to have anti clotting and anti from biotic actions s O You know, there has been, you know, as I said, a lot of research regarding resveratrol. When it comes to our hearts. When it comes to inflammation, there's actually been studies with diabetic patients. There was a child, Sean and enrolled 66. Type Two diabetic men and women and participants were supplemented with 1 G of resveratrol or placebo daily for 45 days. And at the end of the study, subjects who received resveratrol had experienced a lower systolic blood pressure. Lower fasting blood glucose, a lower hemoglobin, a one C insulin and insulin resistance and demonstrated an increase. In HD. Oh cholesterol, while glucose, the decline by an average of almost 35 mg per desole, and among those who received resveratrol Subjects to receive placebo experience, an average increase. Of 9.89 a swell as a rise in a new lbl so In other words, you know, it really helps. And I think A lot of the reason for that. Is because of its powerful anti inflammatory effects. Norma and place will has written in. She's his doctor, Can I just have a glass of French red wine a day and get the same benefits? Um, you know again, it's a great question, and by all means that you should enjoy a glass of wine, but to get this amount of resveratrol You would not be able to drive with the amount of wine he would have to drink it, Z..

"It's unlike anything else around. It appears you've done some things to really take fish oil well to a whole new level. I know how excited purity is about product. What is the Omega Three Super pill? And why is it such a breakthrough? Pack Purity products is one of the leading vitamin companies in America today. Certainly our line of fish oils literally sold millions and millions of bottles. Hundreds of thousands of Americans take our fish oils every day. Fish oil does so many incredible things for our health. One of the things basically the only major thing that fish oil does not do, at least has not yet been clinically shown to do is to lower cholesterol. And so tens of millions of people are concerned about their cholesterol. We just were bombarded by customers who said, You've got to do something to help us out with our cholesterol. So instead of selling them to different products, we kind of did the simple thing and said, You know what? Let's take these plant sterols that have been developed recently. A new brand of plants. They're all that we get from you. Europe with great clinical data to lower cholesterol by up to 15% of the little list. Four weeks we took that ingredient and we combined it with our pharmaceutical great fish. Oil added something called Coenzyme. Q. 10, another critical heart nutrients, and we've got a triple action formula here like no other. We call it the Omega three super pills. Jason, Let's break it down. Let's go through these different items. One of the time Omega threes all over the news. Big headlines, major research articles. Why are fish oil? So dog on hot these days? Well, 15,000 published studies on the role of omega threes and human nutrition, and it grows by the day just about Every single dimension of our health is now shown to be positively impacted by omega threes, basically everything but as I said, cholesterol, but it will manage. Tryg Lyssarides will support blood pressure. It will help keep your vein flexible and functioning well, it'll keep the blood flowing. It's great to maintain a healthy heart rhythm. Fish oil is now being shown to have an incredible role in cognitive functioning. We're talking about memory mood, brain aging infant development cell. The cell communication focused fish oils will enhance or increase performance in the brain actually been shown to increase gray matter, and it goes to work and only minutes when taken as a supplement. New study showing immediate benefit. But he's showing long term cognitive benefits. They're looking official oil and just about every area of health, joint health, weight management, prostate health skin health. The list goes on and on nine out of 10 of you out there right now are clinically deficient in f A Z F A's air called essential fatty acids and the two most essential fatty acids are the two that are found in fish oil. D H A and e P A purity is fish oil products have Three times more concentration of these two key fatty acids than standard fish oils. These air called pharmaceutical grade fish oils, meaning they're manufactured in one of only a handful of pharmaceutically licensed facilities Right out of Norway. They make the best fish oil in the world. 90% concentrations completely pure, no mercury issues. No fish taste, no fish shoulders. Nothing like that. Just the incredible concentrated D H A and EPA. And if you were deficient in those two key fatty acids, there's a long list of symptoms that you could suffer from fatigue. Poor memory poor immunity. Certainly poor skin health dry skin. Obviously, your cardiovascular health might be impaired very clear correlations now between mood problems and low blood levels of EPA and D H a circulatory concerns. All of these things or associate it with low omega three blood levels. Most of us don't need enough fish. Fish is really the only great source of these two compounds. Visual supplementation has now become the biggest category in the vitamin business because of all the benefits all the clinically proven benefits of the EPA, and th A purity is really taken a leading role because we feel we have the best product and now the best product combinations that deliver even better benefits for people. We're talking with Jason Cam, president of product development of Purity products about an exciting new product available exclusively through purity products called the Omega Three Super Pill. We've got a special offer today. A free bottle offer. Stay tuned. We're gonna be given out that phone number Jason. Let's get to Ingredient number two because this Omega three Super Pill does something that no other fish oil product can do. It actually lowers cholesterol. Talk about these plant sterols explain how this works and why it's so important, right? Well, I don't know anyone who isn't concerned about their cholesterol. If you have high cholesterol. Obviously you want to lower it if you have normal or healthy cholesterol. Obviously, you wanna maintain it well in the world of dietary supplements, there is one Compound, one ingredient that stands head and shoulders above anything else. They're called plants. They're all they have over 140 human clinical studies shown to significantly lower LDL cholesterol. And again, LDL is the bad cholesterol HDL, the good cholesterol and the studies of pretty dramatic. They show that in his little as a few weeks, four weeks you can see anywhere from 5 to 15% reduction. In your LDL level safely and naturally, absolutely no side effects very effective. They've known about plants. They're all since the 19 fifties, and they work via a very different mechanism than Staten drugs. So I won't tell people to stop taking statin drugs. We're not trying to position this is an alternative to Statens Statens works by preventing the production of cholesterol in the liver. Land sterols blocks the absorption of cholesterol in the intestines, plant sterols or similar structurally to the cholesterol molecules, and they basically confused little cells in your intestine called my feels into thinking that the plants they're all are actually the cholesterol particles so that my steals pick up the plant sterols instead of the cholesterol particles and the cholesterol particles instead, just get passed through your intestines. The point is, if you're on statins You can take plants. They're off as an addendum therapy to help control your cholesterol Studies actually have been done to show that they can amplify the benefits. And, of course, this particular product you get, obviously first off the full, clinically tested amount of the plants their roles to deliver the benefits as shown in the studies. That's something that's very important because a lot of products out there that you'll see that have plant sterols on the label. May only deliver a tiny fraction of what any study has ever shown. Any benefit for purity delivers the full amount that you need to get these benefits. Now, Jason let's talk about the third ingredient in the formula Coke, you 10, which is also becoming one of the more popular nutritional ingredients all over the world. Tell us about Coke, you 10 and why it's valuable for our health. What is it? What does it do? Well, Cokie Tennis found that everything will cell in your body. "Can you tell us some of the things that you did to optimize your son's health or development since he was born I'm a new mom and I would love to know how you approach diet supplements routines. ETC thank you. And there are also some tag along questions here. That have to do with what the common deficiencies are in in toddlers. So I think Andrew Ask that question. So I'm going to talk about that right now I would say One of the main main things that I have done is Omega Three Dha high. Dha Supplementation. Both during breastfeeding during pregnancy, we'll starting in during pregnancy but pregnancy breastfeeding and then. Getting, preformed Dha, to my son. and. The Way I do that is I take one of my High Dha capsules and I cut it open and I put it in his oatmeal with lots of butter and he just. So, whereas during fetal growth, calories can help promote. You know growth they're not sufficient for brain development. brain development appropriate development requires a sufficient intake of protein zinc, iron, choline, full iodine, and the omega three fatty acids. As, well as vitamins ad B six and B twelve, and if you failure to provide those key nutrients during that critical period can actually result in long-term brain deficits. so the common. Toddler nutritional deficiencies. Omega three. So consumption of. EPA from foods contributes you know so. Mostly those are found in marine sources. it's a very small amount. You know children children are only getting about forty milligrams of the preformed Dha and EPA. And two, thousand, fifteen. There was a really big study about that. You know showed eating fish. Actually even fish. The fish that has particularly for high mega three and low in mercury. Still even protected against toxic effects of Mercury in a developing fetus, which is the most sensitive sensitive to mercury. And there was another study that was published. Huge huge Meta study looked at looked at not only. Prospective Studies. which are associated associated can't really establish causation, but they also looked at randomized controlled trials in children. So the studies looked at pregnant women and also young children and that that were either given fish or eating having a high intake of fish. Or not and it was found not the the mothers and children even randomized control trials that were given fish. I had improved intelligence scores like significantly improved even up to like nine points. And these children also had higher levels of Mercury as well. But they had higher levels of Dha which superseded whatever you know. Minor effects the mercury hat again, we talked about earlier conversation there a fish that are high mega three and lower number mercury at you can be you know things like Salmon While Alaskan salmon or like I mentioned the the farmed Atlantic at least that's the only one I know of that's farmed. Salmon. Sardines. Herring. Mackerel of this fish that are fatty also behind Omega, three and those ones are lower in mercury smaller Fisher mercury. So I try to give him I try to get my son to eat salmon in some form or another, and he'll eat little little amounts of it. And like I said, I also supplemented with fish oil. I was also taking. Drum, breastfeeding. I was I was taking three grams a day of of Dha and that you know is is was being delivered him in breast milk I'll get to that in just a minute though. Iron is another another one particularly infants between six six and eleven months they they have a low about ten percent of those infants have low intake of iron. of course, irons high in in in meets You know fish is another one that you can find iron in. I was actually giving my son when he was doing solid foods like when I when he was when I introduce solid foods at around six months. I would blend up some salmon cooked salmon blended up with either Cooked Cherries blueberries, and I would blended altogether. So it kind of gave the Sam sweet taste and really liked that. When he was young.

The Nutrition Diva's Quick and Dirty Tips for Eating Well and Feeling Fabulous
What's the Best Non-Dairy Milk Alternative?
"You can buy non dairy alternative beverages made from Soya Rice, almond, oat, coconut peas, hemp flax is there any particular reason that you might choose one over the others and for that matter are any of these more nutritious than cow's milk? Will. It really does depend on what you're looking for. If you don't eat meat for example, then you might want to choose one that somewhat higher in protein. If you're watching your weight on the other hand, you might prefer one that's lower in calories. So I compared a dozen different types and brands of non dairy milk to see how they stacked up nutritionally. Now, in each case I chose the plane unsweetened version or as close to that, I could get include both original and light or reduced fat varieties when possible. And so here's a rundown of the most popular milk alternatives and what I see is the nutritional pros and cons of each. All of the non dairy milk, of course, are going to be Vegan and lactose free. But then there are some real differences. Soy and PEA milk are the highest in protein. They provide somewhere between eight and eleven grams of protein per cup, which is comparable to cow's milk. Legumes such as soybeans and yellow peas are also relatively complete source of protein although not quite as complete as dairy. Soy Protein in particular has some beneficial effects on cholesterol levels and might help keep your bones strong. But as I talked about way hacking episode number twenty, one on the pros and cons of soy. There are a few reasons that you don't want to Overdo it with soy and I suggest keeping it to no more than three servings a day. So if you eat a lot of other soya based foods, then you might want to choose a different kind of milk for that reason. Hen Flax and Walnut milks are all relative newcomers to the alternative scene and all of these are an excellent source of Omega three fats. This is a nutrient that's often lacking in the western Diet. If your diet does not include a lot of fish, for example, this could be a way to fill that gap a single serving of one of these can provide an entire day's recommended intake of Omega three fat. That's about four times as much as you'd get from soy milk and six times as much as you'd get from cow's milk none of these options however are very high in protein. Now if you're counting calories, almond milk tends to be quite a bit lower in calories and sugar than most of the other non dairy milks. It's also fairly low in protein and don't expect the same benefits that you'd get from eating almonds virtually all of the fiber and the heart healthy mono unsaturated fats that make almond. So healthy have been removed although almond milk has for a long time in one of the most popular non dairy. Several other nut milks have entered the market more recently including those made from hazelnuts cashews, and as I mentioned earlier, Walnuts. If you're looking for one to make it home, I have found that cashew milk is the easiest and best tasting. Do It yourself non dairy milk option and in the show notes for today I have linked to the recipe that I created to make cashew milk. Now, I should point out that not milks nut milks including those made from almonds, walnuts and cashews use more water to create than other non dairy options, and this is because nuts are very water intensive crops nonetheless, Almond and other nut milks use less water to produce then cow's milk. But if water usage is important to you, Sawyer oat milk are the least water-intensive to produce. Now. Rice milk is the one that you're least likely to be allergic to. However, it is also pretty much the lowest in protein and it tends to be higher in sugar and calories. Although races not as water-intensive to grow as nuts, it's not far behind in terms of water use. OAT Milk is another newer entry into the non dairy field people tend to really like it's creamy texture especially in coffee it's also a more sustainable option than not or rice based milks another plus is that it does contain a small amount of fiber. Now, we're only talking one or two grams per serving but oat fiber has some unique benefits in terms of lowering blood cholesterol and blood sugar levels with just two to four grams of protein per serving oat milk is lower in protein than either cow's milk. Or Soy milk, but higher than most rice and almond milk varieties, and finally milk may also be a great option for those with nut allergies for whom not milks are obviously off the menu and this brings us to coconut milk. Now, with all the buzz around coconut oil and coconut water lately, it was probably inevitable that a coconut based milk alternative would appear on the already overcrowded shelves in that non dairy I'll. But as with all the other coconut based products, the health benefits of coconut milk are modest. Plane unsweetened coconut milk is very low in calories and carbohydrates. It's only got about half as many calories as skim milk. However, coconut milk contains no protein and it's often described as being watery kinda tasteless. Now. Here's just a quick. Although. Both are referred to as coconut milk. The coconut based beverage that you'll find next the almond milk is not to be confused with the coconut milk that you'll find the canned food or international foods I'll canned coconut milk is made from blending coconut meat and water into a rich creamy liquid that's quite high in fat and calories. This is the ingredient that you'll see called for in curry recipes, desserts, and other kinds. Asian cuisine.

Should You Switch to Fish Oil with PRMs?
"Fish oil is rich in the omega three fatty acids, EPA and Dha and most American adults don't get the recommended amount of these nutrients from their diet and officials supplement is one way to help fill that gap. Fish Oil is also used in higher therapeutic doses to treat and prevent. Variety of health conditions including heart disease, auto, immune disorders, arthritis, and even depression. There are a few different mechanisms of action here. Omega threes are anti thrown Belichick that means that they reduce the tendency of blood to form clots and they're also potent anti inflammatories. To how do they do all of this? Well, Omega threes are enzymatic converted in your body into various biologically active molecules and those then orchestrate the body's inflammatory and immune responses at the cellular level. There are a lot of different types of these active compounds including Prostaglandins I, cost annoyed and leukotrienes. Pro Resolving mediators or PRM's our newly recognized category of these active compounds. The three main types of these are protections, resolve ines and medicines, and the fact that three PRM's start with p. r. and M. is actually quite handy. Now, in some medical papers, you'll see these compounds referred to as s PM's which stands for specialized pro resolving mediators, but that's not nearly as handy under Monica device. So I'M GONNA STICK WITH PRM's. Like their name implies crow resolving. Act to actively resolve or turn off the body's inflammatory responses and I want you to remember inflammation is not necessarily a bad thing. It is part of the body's immune response and in the right place at the right time, it serves a very important and valuable function. Chronic or excessive inflammation on the other hand can start to create problems and that's where the PR come in their job is to switch off that inflammatory activity once the immediate threat has been dealt with, which allows the inflammation to resolve and healing to begin. Some research suggests that in diseases that are characterized by chronic or inappropriate inflammation, there might be some sort of disruption in the body's production of these. PRM's and other research shows that supplementation with omega three fatty acids like those fish oil can increase the amount and the activity of PRM's in the body. But if our body makes PRM's when we take Omega three, why would we need to take them as a supplement? Why indeed?

Algae Oil for Cooking?
"McCaffrey. So D-, what's the topic for this week? The topic for this week is. Culinary algae oil what is it and is it a good oil to cook with? Wow that's a new one. Now G oil. Yeah. I actually. This was somewhat new to me as well. I heard about it from a client as I often hear about new things. end. So piqued my interest because of course, I know about algae oil supplements for like a basically a plant source of the omega three fatty acids that we typically find in fish oil. And these are very important types of fatty acids for our brain and our overall health, and so I was thinking, okay. I know about that type of algae oil. But how do you? How could you have an algae oil that you could cook with because you would never want to cook with algae oil that has these very fragile Omega three fats in it because they would just burn up and turn around. Yeah. So I had to really kind of look around and and see what this algae culinary is all about. So there's a company called thrive and that's the name of the brand of the oil. It's called thrive algae culinary oil. And it's owned by a company in in the Netherlands. And so it they don't get their algae from the ocean like like the companies that make algae oil supplements do that type of algae is like marine phytoplankton type of algae, very high in Omega three fatty acids. This algae oil actually comes from an algae that grows on the bark of a chestnut tree in Germany one that's where they originally got their algae from. Now, they make it in these big. like. Steel that's very similar to making your. Yes and in fact, I believe I read somewhere that the company actually is housed in an old PABST blue ribbon factory, and they actually used the same fermenting bats. so they take this algae from a chestnut tree in Germany that's the original source of it. But now what they do is they can grow it now in there that and so they have sort of like a sustainable replenishable supply of this algae. So and they ferment it in the VATS and so during the fermentation process. What happens is they kind of feed a little bit of sugar in to get that fermentation started, and then the fermentation process turns the carbohydrate portion of this. Into oils and so then once they have their final fermented product that is rich in oils that press the oil out of the algae. And this oil is different from. Well, it's different from any other kind of algae. And and it is somewhat bioengineered which which I read is that they do they do add certain things together to make it so that it has a high percentage of mono unsaturated fats in which is the type of fat that's an olive oil and avocado oil. Only this algae oil has a much higher percentage of monounsaturated fats than any other plant oil. It's got like ninety percent of it is monounsaturated versus olive oil which has about seventy six percent monounsaturated so. Is this for would you treat it like olive oil when you cook or you treat it like something that can take a little higher heat? Well, the this one claims that it's great for high heat cooking because it has a smoking point of four, hundred, eighty, five degrees, which is really high and you know olive oils doesn't go that high come and so you know. So basically they have they've they've done this they said they've they've crossed bread. And otherwise. Genetically. Modified. Aspects of this algae to give it a high monounsaturated fat content. And then they you know. So they end up with an oil that has this high amount of monounsaturated. Therefore, it has a high amount of and has a high smoke point and one of the reasons. That you know they they talked about this smoke point in an oil comes from something called free fatty acids within the oil, which most of the fats in our diet, and especially even in our oils are in the form of what we call it triglycerides, which is basically three fatty acids attached to a glycerine molecule, and that's called a triglycerides and that's how most of our fouts exist in our foods a free fatty acid. Attached to a glacier all it's just kind of floating around in there and when you have free fatty acids in your oil as you're cooking it, those fatty acids start evaporating before the other oil components as it heats up and then that's what creates like these little soot particles and then eventually smoke. So

The Basics of Bulking
"Many meals when you're trying to bulk. How many meals are you eating day? Are you limited are you? Is it unlimited? What's the situation there so whether on bulkier cutting it's really going to be the same as far as spacing out. My meals really doesn't matter. The only thing that's going to be different is really the microbes which is going to be covered as protein cards fats. So really with bulkiness. Cutting every two to three hours. I'm having something Obviously you know if you're a little bit on the smaller side you know one forty one fifty one six zero or whatever you're not gonNa have to cram as much food in like me that starts off round to forty to fifty right so sometimes. I'll have to do every two hours just to get in a little bit extra calories but mainly just want to be in a surplus. Okay reason why you're eating every few hours to keep your metabolism constantly going that way you can get as many meals in as possible throughout the day but you're not going to convert a lot of it to Because your body what will happen is if you have way too many cars. Let's say oh I'm all you need two or three times a day. I'm just GONNA pile on to three hundred carbs every single meal. Your body is not gonna be able to obviously metabolize all right. So the downfall without is this going to convert to fat since you're not gonNA use that Short-term energy from the carbohydrates space. It out is probably GONNA be your best bet booking or cutting interesting okay. So it's not really about like just so when you're bulking you're not trying to gain fat. You're trying not really a free and not a free for all. It's not just do whatever a lot of people. Typically if there's any younger viewers socially teenagers Burgers all the time beats scream old matters is calorie counters obviously during a bulking phase. Since you are going to be out of surplus there is that ratio that you will gain fat but you can minimize how much you're actually going to gain during that process right and that probably helps me turns to the cutting phase so then have to route so right no. I don't care if I can gain ten pounds instead of thirty. But it's quality It's GonNa make cutting a heck of a lot easier right right and a less sacrificing our of stairs. I got you know lead a couple of times a day like right. It's much more maintainable. So what are you eating during those bulking bells? What would be your ideal ideal day full of meals? I'm a little bit more bland. Okay mocking or cutting spore. Because you like to keep it pretty even kills the whole process just so used to it after doing it for you know sixteen years so I just find this. I really settle with my body so for me. I typically do. Most meals will be some L. E. ME like ninety nine percent. Turkey or some kind of chicken breasts grill it. Boil it bake. It doesn't really matter. It's not gonNA change the chemical of the Me Too much but that sells really well for me. I can digest very fast. Okay same thing with Rice Rice. Oats stuff like that. My body handles where you're well. I can metabolize fast so I try to make it so okay so this my body is going to get really bloated. WanNa miss my next meal. So why would I wanna put that on every single meal? If I'm going to be one or two behind right okay. So I've best thing is find the things that agree with your body value can eat every two to three hours and it's not going to upset your stomach and interesting so do you usually take any supplements when you're trying to because you just finished the bulking vase rate and you are now onto the terming cutting portion. So we'll get into that later. But did you take any supplements while you're trying to bulk? Kind honestly in. Balkan are cutting just overall wellness so multivitamins fficials usually with Omega threes mostly CLA's which is just amino acid alays which is another amino acid. Those are going to basically help with your metabolism. Okay so it's going to speed up a little bit Every once in a while. If I'm a little behind on protein I will throw in a protein shake. I okay but most time. I'm just getting everything from food. How do you know if you're behind on your protein? How are you tracking that? So so let's say let's go with just an average individual and journalists say one sixty law times like members. I my buddy. My buddy really likes protein case. I usually try and get one point. Two to one point five grams of protein per body pound a lot of books and they've gone to school or anything like that magazines. They're going to use more cagey. So point. Eight per cagey so really. It's more of Bro Science. I guess you have to go by your body so I know that my body likes protein. So let's say I'm one sixty multiply that by one point two. Let's say if I'm going to get all of that from my food. Then I don't need protein shakes much right right. Okay protein shakes handy if you're not getting an adequate amount of protein from foods or let's say you have kids or anything happens. Emergency happens on a Russian gotta go. Are you gonNA work out and then go to work off? I ended up talking to that guy way too long. Like usual right. Yeah sure down a protein shake thou way. You know you're fueling muscles at least before you can get your next meal. Is there a risk of you? Overdo the protein. If you're like going way beyond that like you're doing the protein shakes and you're getting from your meals so that one is obviously always gonna be up for debate. No matter what you see you're GonNa say you're GonNa say yes and you know I have a couple of clients doctors of them. Whenever I go in for my checkups super healthy all right If you're having too much protein and you're dehydrated that's what's really going to tax your insights. your liver and kidneys are going to have a hard time processing the protein. So it's working for the energy hydrated. Okay so it's wearing on it so more wear and tear okay now if you are hydrated even though you're getting a lot of protein in you're going to be fine unless you have some kind of weird medical history that runs in your family. Then I would just advise SCO. Gator normal checkups right like brunch. Everyone should right and then go from

Mediterranean Diet Grabs the Top Spot for Best Healthy Lifestyle Plan
"There is a topic that you WanNa talk talk about this week. Yeah absolutely. We're talking about the Mediterranean Diet today. Okay because it's ranked number one by the US News News Best diets what the. US News does. is they evaluate thirty five different diets and they get input from a panel of experts. Experts including doctors nutritionists Dietitians and people who specialize in diabetes heart health human behavior and weight loss and they They basically look at criteria to rank the diets based on whether they meet the USDA my plate guidelines for calories portions vitamins and minerals as well as whether they help or hinder weight loss and also they have to be relatively easy to follow so so the Mediterranean Diet as ranked number one this year for twenty twenty but it also ranked number one last year and it has been in the either the a number one or number two position in previous years as well so The Mediterranean Diet to me is. It's it's almost kind of like like a no nonsense. Overall healthy approach to eating and living in. And what's really interesting is when we talk about the Mediterranean Diet. Hi and unfortunately the word Diet is in the name but I kind of wish. It wasn't because it's really a it's a lifestyle. It's a lifestyle and in fact when you read about doubted you see that. It doesn't just only incorporate the food aspects but it also talks about The lifestyle of having you you know being active in your life and also about Community sharing meals with family and that type of thing so the whole idea of family dinners is even even a part of the whole philosophy of a Mediterranean diet lifestyle so And it's been around a while the one one really interesting being History on the Mediterranean Diet was that you know it's been research since the nineteen fifties early findings emerged out of something called the seven countries study which began in nineteen fifty seven and it was. It was directed by a A researcher named Ansel keys from the University of Minnesota and he brought together researchers from all over the world to collectively steady the medical questions of the time concerning specifically cardiovascular diseases among people who were living in countries with a variety of different traditional eating patterns in lifestyles. And what what came out of this. You know there were. He looked at twenty two different countries. But what he presented in his research was seven of them and They found that the healthiest people were living in Crete which is one of the islands in the Mediterranean region so by the Mediterranean reflects the food and social social customs of people that live in countries that have a coastline along the Mediterranean Sea. So this is going to include places like Italy Greece Spain Inter in Turkey so so when we think of Mediterranean. That's you know the countries that were thinking of and then also the food and customs that come from that region agent and this goes back centuries so recent research shows like what are the types of foods that they eat and not only that they they look look at if someone is living in the United States and they're following these same dietary principles and lifestyle principles that they can get similar results as what have been seen in the studies of people who have been following this way of life for for generations. So What are you know? Everyone probably wants to know. So what's included and and we eat. And what do they do. The question is what do they eat in. What are they? Don't eat right. Well that's a really good. That's really good okay. So what's really kind of fascinating is there really is no one exact Mediterranean diet because the guidelines reflect different foods from all these different countries. But what what we have done is we've sort of Honed it down And and looked at it so Aside from the fact that processed foods are not included did In the Mediterranean Diet. This is a very almost like pure processed free Iva Diet in fact you know if we wanted to make a comparison between the process free lifestyle described in my book. The science of skinny and the Mediterranean Diet is very similar You know there might just be different difference in portions and that type of thing So aside from that What's really kind of cool about it is? It's kind of unrestrictive and simple. The calories are not a concern. The foundation is built upon anti inflammatory plant based meals with a focus on deeply colored the fruits and vegetables especially the green leafy types such as Chard Kale and spinach and the non starchy type. Vegetables like artichokes folks cauliflower eggplant tomatoes And then a lots of different herbs and spices like Basil Bay leaves Fennel Garlic Parsley Lee Rosemary. And sage and lots of beans beans tend to be A A focus in the Mediterranean Diet and less red meat in in fact in in the most of the Mediterranean traditional societies Red Meat or pork was only eaten. Minimally like maybe yeah well well not only even just like a side but also like only maybe once a month or on a special occasion like a birthday or a wedding or something so it was not a regular learn every day food and so then that still is tantamount part of the Mediterranean Diet. And why it's been used a lot of heart health studies. So it's you know because people who have cardiovascular disease and need to improve their diet Eliminating the saturated fat from Red Meat's is one one of the the keys to that so Is consuming more fish. Is that a an aspect of the Mediterranean diet or no yes in fact fish is one of the main animal foods. Okay in the Mediterranean diet it does include some dairy But in much smaller amounts than what like our USDA guidelines would recommend which USDA guidelines. Tell us to eat three dairy servings a day in the Mediterranean Diet it's very minimal And in those countries and look look in the traditional diet it was mainly from either goat's milk or sheep's milk and they would make that into cheese so they didn't sit there Erin. Drink glasses of milk right so In the US it you know. The Mediterranean diet is recommending low fat dairy which I would probably not recommend that I would recommend whole fat dairy but in the minimal quantities that We they see in the Mediterranean Diet. Do you mentioned that in the science of skinny I do okay. Yeah I say whole milk is is preferred but you don't need to consume a lot of it and it's actually kind of optional. Really no one needs to eat dairy And I think we see that in the Mediterranean diet that it's it's very minimally focused and so you could even leave it out One thing I like about the Mediterranean Diet also is that it's the percentages of the what we call the macronutrients as the fats carbohydrates and the protein we see a higher air percentage of good fat. And of course olive oil is the main source of good fat olive. Oil Fish and nuts are where most of the fat in the Diet comes from and these are all unsettled basically monounsaturated and also some polyunsaturated from fish like the Omega threes Are are where most of the fat comes from. And it's about forty percent of the caloric intake per day is coming from fats which is higher than in what the USDA guidelines recommend but yet we see really good health with people following this on the flip side. Though you have the other part of it is that we have you know all all. The carbohydrates are complex. Meaning it's from beans or from starchy type vegetables or from whole grains so we. I don't see any processed grains in the Mediterranean Diet so the complex carbohydrate percentages are are lower than what we would see in the USDA guidelines and then the protein is quite moderate anywhere between Fifteen to twenty percent of calories coming from protein so most Mediterranean meals. Actually look. Vegetarian is that they're very plant. Centered yes so you would see you know. Mostly vegetables on the plate Probably some some beans or grains and then very minimal amounts of fish or You know if if red meat is consumed. It's like it's like I say it's minimal and it's not often in the in the month so Now a couple of other things they also include red wine oh And that is for the polyphenols that are in the skins of the grapes. And when they're fermented into wine it increases the concentration nation of those polyphenols and so that tends to also be quite heart healthy and lots of 'em antioxidants. The polyphenols are antioxidants. so however it's not unlimited The recommendation is. It's one five ounce glass of red wine for women per day and two I five ounce glasses for men per day and that's the recommendation but of course one thing I always tell people is if you're not already a consumer of wine you you don't have to add this into follow the Mediterranean Diet. It's it's it's there but it's optional. You mean the the wine right the wind like you know you you know some people say oh. I don't drink red wine or I don't drink at all right so I can't do that and that's fine. You don't have to do that. That's the other thing about. It is very adaptable. You could make gluten free you. Can you know you can adjust for different food sensitivities that or food preferences. This is that a person would want to do so. I'm not surprised that it's ranked number

The Difference Between Brown and White Eggs
"What's the real difference between Brown and white eggs okay? I know they are a different color. They're Brown and white. But if you typically pay more for Brown eggs because you think they're healthier than white eggs than what you're about to hear might right save you some money because even though Brown is healthier when it comes to things like rice bread that's not the case when it comes to eggs. The color difference comes not from healthiness but from genetics. Different breeds of chicken lay different colored eggs white leghorn chickens. Lay You guessed it. White eggs eggs Rhode Island red chickens which have darker plumage lay brown eggs. The exact color of the eggs can be affected by a hens environment diet i-it stress level and age but that only accounts for a minor variation V8's nutritional value on the other hand is affected by two things Diet and environment study showed that hens that Rome in the sunshine produce eggs with three to four times. The vitamin D of hens kept indoors enhance. That are fed diets with more nutrients have more of that nutrient in their eggs. White and brown eggs generally taste the same to although the chickens dietary differences princes. Ken Affects Taste. fattier diets produce more flavorful eggs while Omega three can make a tastes fishy but the most important factor in eggs taste is how freshness brown eggs are heavier though and they have stronger shells than white eggs that might explain why brown eggs feel like they're healthier but the most notable double difference between white and Brown eggs is their price. Brown eggs are more expensive and the correlation between Healthier Foods and higher prices is not true in the case his of brown eggs the real reason for that half year price tag goes back to that core difference. I mentioned earlier. Chicken breeds the breeds that produce brown eggs have historically Glee ben larger and that means required more food to feed but today production costs are about even so consumers who prefer brown eggs are paying more for what's essentially the same product. The moral of the story is that if you want to save some money with out sacrificing nutritional value than stick with white eggs.
