What are they going on. Yeah well this is something. In fact alphabets grown delivery company wing launched an app and the us in cooperation with the faa called sky. The app was earlier launched in australia. Back in twenty nineteen in cooperation with a in the country open sky. Let's hobbyist and commercial operators alike. See where they can legally fly and then request approval to operate in areas that might be otherwise restricted. It expedites that process which otherwise can take days wing says. It's helping other operators out because quote compliance ultimately expand the uses and benefits of drones so in other words if people get used to draw drones. Behaving well caesar your for wing to get its drones in the air the rising air lifts all quad copter principle. You know it right. Probably doesn't hurt. Also that open sky is going to be collected a lot of data this way about where drones are being flown which can help wing and developing its own navigational systems which makes sense associate producer. Amos in alaska tried to download this and it told him it was not available in his region so this may be mainland. Us only at this point We'll see if it opens up later but it is an interesting idea and pretty useful for people who want to fly quad copter especially in urban areas where there are so many restrictions it right now. It takes some paperwork and a couple of days if you wanna lift that. So most people don't do it making it easier and and still maintaining safety I think is a is a great way to encourage more use of drones. Get people comfortable with drones. Nate do you do a lotta quad copter flying at all. Yeah we we use a lot of it for the filming at bloomberg and funnily enough. I was over at the olympic park. London olympic park..

"Staying. If we're getting ready to booker hotel so we're fortunate to have some wonderful hotels in park city. We have several five star hotels. we have steinbeck's and large saint regis the montage and the waldorf astoria and they're gorgeous properties. They have wonderful. Spas great decks with fire pits. And even if you're not staying at hotels it's actually fun to just go and visit there. Maybe maybe post skiing and you can join in for the smallest experience with the kids after a ski day or try one of their signature cocktails and just enjoy the apres ski. Seen up at saint regis one of my favorite drinks. They're each thing. Regis has their own version of bloody. Mary and the one at park city is called their seven. Four five to mary pickus. That's the allegation. There at seven thousand four hundred and fifty two feet and that has celery foam and lava. Salt it's really tasty so that's fun a fun drink to going. And also at the saint regis they do a sunset champagne sabre in the evenings. So that's a super fun experience to go and enjoy and they bring up a sabre and choke off the top of that champagne and tell you a little story about the history of champagne savoring and then you get to enjoy glosses champagne and just watch. The skiers come down at the end of the day of the ski slopes so the apres ski. Seen either these nice hotels or even at the even at the base of the resorts is superfan after day. The slopes it. Just sit back and grab a drink and enjoy that apres. Our sounds like so much fun now one thing. I don't wanna miss out on before we go into the final countdown is talking about a couple of food places. That are there local there in park city. What are couple of your favorites that we should make sure we go visit. Then we have a couple of great breakfast places. Brunch places in pollock city couple of my favorite saw five seats and harvest. And they both have. I kinda similar menu. Mazing breakfast bowls like sa bowls and smoothie bowls and then five seeds also has a great patna kota cheer pudding and then the smashed avocado. Impe toast is really yummy. And one of the things. I like to get is a breakfast board. So you can't decide which one you like you get to have a sampling of several of the most popular things on the menu. Which is good for those indecisive of people like myself. I may also do great coffees. And i tried their beat latte recently. Which was really tasty harvest. They do yes. Similar menu like eggs and avocado toast and their presentation at both of those two restaurants is just beautiful. They're a fun place to go and enjoy and they're both locals favorites then if you're feeling a bit fancier for brunch stein eriksen. Large is a wonderful place to go. They have one of the most extravagant brunches. I've ever enjoyed a sampling of everything. Your favorite different types of eggs and fish and they have omelette stations and waffle stations and pancakes stations. And just you need to go there with a really empty stomach and be ready to eat food. And that's a really funding to do and stein eriksen largest situated right india valley on the mountain. So if the weather's nice to sits out on their outside deck and just enjoy the enjoy the view. That's a great place to go in the in the summer you can sit there and watch mountain bikers and hikers Go and enjoy the mountain or once. You've eaten a big meal. You can go and do that yourself. And get out there and ben of some of your calories by utilizing the great trails that we have there in the summer too high combined and sounds wonderful. Yeah bring your stretchy pants and then bring your egging boots so that we can and then we have some wonderful restaurants on main street for dinners as well. One of my favorites is called river horse then known for fish dishes. They have a great local rainbow. Trout and macadamia crusted. Halliburton normally choose one of those too but also do steaks fillet and rib eye of you. More of a stake person pass doesn't salads but that's a very popula places river horse and another one is silver star cafe which was actually featured on the donna's drive in and dives and they have really good ruben sandwiches and great burgers there and they were also voted so for vegetarians food. Nick were selected their wild mushin. Stroganoff is one of the top eighteen vegetarian dishes in the united states a while they have quite the reputation. If you've got both of those tv shows coming into their is show. It's at that's also right at the base of a ski resort. And that's a fun place to sit outside on the deck. They have some heaters there and really comfy chairs and you can. You can watch in the winter. The ski is there's also on the other side of the restaurant is the gulf course. So if you if you fancy Seen simply put golf. Then you can sit and watch that too while you're enjoying your meal and then in the evenings they often have live music playing and they have a great wine lists and that's a really fun place. Overstock cafe t to allah sounds so awesome last question for you say we're up on the mountain. I'm a snowboarder. So i'd have to go to park city in. I don't get the chance to really go to deer valley so say were there at park city hitting the slopes for the day. Where would we go for lunch. on the slopes you have a favorite Restaurant or different place to eat. That's right there on the on the slopes. There's another viking yet. But i like to visit. It has a slightly smaller new option than some of the bigger restaurants. But it just it's a. It's a little more quaint. And they have chaz for you to sit right up there on the snow and watch the skiers go by and you can get if you fancy a hot drink you can get like a hot chocolate or a blue vine there. They also have cookies and snacks a little bit of a smaller menu. But it's just a. It's just fun being in that year environment does sound super cool right on lydia really appreciate you sharing all these awesome tips for park city. I can't wait to come visit. I guess the pass this year since. I don't know how to ski though. I can hit the slopes at park city now signed for the final countdown. If somebody only time for one meal when they visited park city worship watch the. I would recommend that. Visit the high west saloon which is actually only for over twenty one but we do have some wonderful babysitting services in park city so if you came in with a family and you wanted to have a night away from the kids with us park city sitters and several other services. So grab yourself a babysit the kids and head to five west. it's really great food and it's famous for local distilled vodka and whisky. It's the first legally licensed distillery utah. Since the end of the american prohibition and they have two locations large distillery and restaurant that's just on the outskirts of park city in a place could one ship and then they have a saloon in a historic building. Right there just off mainstream and they have really great cocktails great whiskey grape-vodka that they still themselves and Their burgers amazing they made a short ribs and bison with smoked cheddar. "Lydia. Welcome to the show highly. Thanks for having me so today. We're talking about park city. Utah and i love the snow board. And i know the park city has a wonderful reputation for for snow and and funding and the on the slopes so. It's so exciting to be able to have you on the show and and learn all about park city and the surrounding areas and and also interestingly enough that park city although it's known for snow it's becoming a year round destination right absolutely. Yeah it it used to be just a winter resort but now the summertimes are becoming increasingly popular for people to visit to and it's kind of been known as a year round playground for people to visit winter late spring. Some oral early fall fantastic's for the listeners. Maybe that they don't really know exactly where park city is. Can you tell about. Word is in relation to the state. Yes oh park. City is about twenty miles southeast of salt lake city. And we're a little mountain town when nestled at about seven thousand feet in the wasatch mountains. The town used to be a mining town back in the day and then became a sleepy town after that and it rebounded about the eighties and nineties and is now a really popular ski and snowboard destination and actually salt lake city hosted the winter olympics in two thousand and two. Many of the venues were here. Impact cities has olympic venue. Feel about it as well. Oh that's fantastic. Yeah i know whenever i snowboard. It's definitely a huge step down versus the olympics firm around the mountain but still a lot of fun and it's kinda cool to be able to go in the same runs that olympians did absolutely and there's a few of them dose around town still as well so it's fun to spot people out and about where olympians back in the day. That's so cool. So what's your connection to park city. So i came to park city at fifteen years ago in the winter of two thousand five. Two thousand six as a ski instructor at devali which is one of the two main ski resorts here in park city. And prior to that. I was a schoolteacher in london. And i just sponsored a change from skiing in the classroom so decided to come out here to ski on the slopes and devali just had the main requirements that you like children and you're able to ski backwards so i was able to check off both those two items and came out here to instruct and while i was here i was single and in my twenty s and ended up falling in love with a local guy on the mountains and also fell in love with the town. And i've been here ever since fifteen years now. What a wonderful story. So if you had to describe people or the the city and just wanted to tells you do that there's definitely a lot of adventure lovers here outdoor enthusiasts and a fair amount of athletes and olympians around too. It's fun going out and exploring and a town and doing activities and exercises and you get people who in the seventies or eighties with white hair. And they overtake you on their bikes. And then people say well. Don't worry about that too much because they were probably in olympia and back in the day and so you don't need to feel too bad about all amazing athletes. When i lived in california. I would go to go to the gym and some of the people that are easily ten twenty years older than me. They were running circles around me. And it's a little humiliating an humble but yeah you know. I mean it's awesome. You know gives you definitely the inspiration where i want to be at that level malley today but also a decade from now absolutely. Yeah it's great to see people of all ages hair from young children through to people in the eighties and nineties. Still on the ski slits. I think altair posted an article not too long ago about hundred zero. That would ski on the mountains at their resort. And it's just so fun to see people still having the active lifestyle and enjoying all the activities that we have to offer here for sure like hashtag goals. I can't even imagine being on the mountain one hundred but that'd be that'd be phenomenal lately. So we hinted earlier about it about the weather park city becoming a year on destination. But what's the weather like throughout the year and are there certain festivals or events that happen throughout the year. Where maybe if you're planning trip know what i really wanna go for that so i need to play my trip around that that event. Yeah pock city has really wonderful whether i give around so we used to be just a resort. Many the snow in the skiing. And that's definitely a big attraction for people to come here. During those winsome monster the resorts open normally about thanksgiving or the beginning of december and then opened through about mid april. But now we're really are becoming a year round destination so the summer is wonderful here. A lot of people are coming out now to do all the activities that we have here hiking biking road biking and mountain biking. We have a bunch of gophers results. Here as sailing on our local reservoir and the temperature is great here in the summer. Because we're up in the mountains it doesn't get too hot. We have that kind of cooler mountain. Air and the humidity is low. And it's just wonderful really conducive to being outside. We got a lot of blue sky. Sunny days here so summariser a great tons of come and also early fall when the leaves a changing the mountains covered in aspen trees here and early in the full they turn gorgeous like golden yellow commerce. And that's really pretty time of year to to visit as well so really. The only seasons are right at the end of the ski season when the snow is melting or just inbetween time at the end of fall before the snow arrives. Those shoulder seasons are not as popular but the rest of the year is grade. We also have several big events here sundance film festival a big draw for people to come and visit our tax and get to see all these new and exciting films. Robert redford started the sundance film festival and during that time our population that's normally about eight thousand people swells to over one hundred thousand people. It's a really popular fun. Busy time to come and visit park city the other events that we have in the summer we have the utah symphony and devali music concert. And that's in the end of june through late august each year. Superfund time to sit outside on the ski runs transformed into like mini amphitheatres to come watch live music. And then we also have an arts festival in august as well which is a great time and then a bunch of different sporting events. There are running races and mounting bike. Festivals. you can visit park city.

Britt Lyle II on design

"Your host Maris cherry and this week. I'm talking with Britt Lyle the second a Motion Graphics designer here in Atlanta, Georgia. Let's start the show. All right. So tell us who you are and what you do. My name is Britt Lyle. I am a motion graphic designer. I'm a graphics assistant at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Now, I've been asking everyone, you know kind of starting off for these interviews how they're sort of holding up right now, you know, we're recording this right now in late September. It's pretty easy. I think well known that we're going to be in the states for a while. Now, how have you been holding up during this pandemic? Oh, wow, there have been like there been good days and bad days. I've been holding up generally well, but like there have been, you know good days and bad days. Like I said I tend to deal with anxiety sometimes so that has been kind of a struggle wage. Kind of cope with along with like just regular anxiety Then the election and covid-19. Like one of the things I learned in grad school is like you have to take time to for yourself, especially in stressful situations. And this entire year has just been one big stressful situation off. So it's very very important to like make yourself as comfortable as possible. Especially someone who like regularly deals with anxiety and off. Yeah, so I just basically just tried to make sure that if I feel like in some type of anxiety attack coming that I make sure to remove myself from the situation and ground myself before coming back to reality so to speak gotcha. Now let's talk about your work at sports and entertainment and can you kind of briefly describe what a MB sports and entertainment is and just sort of what is a regular day like for you right now since you're working from home, so am be Sports entertainment. We are sort of like a company within a company job. We do work for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United. My job specifically is Graphics assistant. So basically that means I help out anyone else you need help with any other big project whether it's coming up with Gameday Graphics video editing color correction or any other regular or irregular occurrence. I might occur to you today. How did you get started there on a whim a lot of a lot of the jobs that I've gotten in particularly designed jobs of Applied on a whim. So I was laid off at my previous job, which I was very very sad about and I was just applying applying everywhere that I can and I saw the post for graphics assistant at a MB. And again, it was one of those things for me. It's like I can't in good conscience past this up and say Thursday. I tried everything that I could so I apply thinking that like I wouldn't hear anything and they turned out to be one of the few people that actually gave me like like three rounds of interviews and hired me within like a month. Nice. Yeah, so you mentioned, you know kind of working on these, you know, not random projects, but you kind of work on an ad-hoc basis as an assistance. So are there any sort wage projects that you like take the lead on or you always kind of working in that second kind of capacity mostly in a secondary capacity because there are people who have been there since the building open since as soon as construction ended they hired a design team and those and some of those people have left but there are still some people have been there since its Inception and they kind of know they build out the process. They're the ones who really like all the assignments all of the the dimensions birth. All the renders all of these little details. They're the ones who built it from the ground up and I'm essentially follow the process. I'll give my two cents every now and then if I feel like it'll help but for the most part they have pretty much have like a game plan laid out for how certain things are done and how certain things are processed. And so, you know, just so folks name Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta is fairly new. I think it was opened and what 2018-2017 2017-2017? Okay, and then prior to that it not in the same space, but pretty close to it was the Georgia Dome that's where I used to work actually years and years and years and years ago. I worked for the Georgia Dome the the Georgia World Congress Center and since Olympic Park, so I'm familiar with that whole kind of campus area and I know back then I mean Georgia Dome all that is owned by the state, but Mercedes-Benz is privately owned. Do you know if off? Any of the the Congress Center staff works there also since it's so close not intimately like I think some people transferred but I mean as far as I know most people have been there since MBS was a thing. I'm not sure if any other people from Georgia Congress moved on to other projects, but I do know that they got a lot of different people from a lot of different places to kind of help build this team up. Yeah. I was just always curious about that cuz I still know a good number of people over there so long what's the best thing you would say about the work that you do? All of the work that I do is like kind of unconventional and well, I guess not unconventional like sort of a dimension sizes that I do that I work with like no one else in the world really works with these type of Dimensions cuz inside the stadium there's this song Halo board, and it's like six feet high, I think it's got like Fifty four thousand LED lights on it and the the file sizes and the dimensions that we work with are just pretty unorthodox and pretty wild to kind of like work with and when I first got started, you know someone I got trained in art school or just doesn't in designing was as the standard 1920 x 1080 and then suddenly I have to deal with sizes that are like fifty thousand nine fifty thousand five thousand or ten thousand sizes and it's kind of weird but it's also kind of cool cuz like you you kind of makes my portfolio stand out a little bit off and yeah, I guess that would be the best thing is that like I do I do the type of design that are very different than anyone else does and it may be kind of hard to put on social. Which is why I tend to put it on my website, but at the same time like not a lot of people can say they have designed the stuff that I designed and

The Hazards of Making Movies About Real People

KCRW's Hollywood Breakdown

The Hazards of Making Movies About Real People

"The I'm Kim Masters and this is the Hollywood breakdown joining me as many of the Hollywood reporter and Matt has come up. Many times in Hollywood does what it loves to do which is to make make movies and particularly awards season movies based on real people that controversy follows and we're seeing more or less at the same moment to different controversies sees. One of them involves Clint Eastwood's new movie Richard Jewel. which according to the Hollywood reporter's awards reporter Scott Feinberg up ends the Academy Me Awards race? It's it's GonNa be very very popular. He thinks with hatemi members in numerous categories. I'm assuming that probably includes picture but in this movie Richard Jewel. Joel this is about the security guard who tried to warn about the Olympic Park bombing back in Nineteen ninety-six a real event. He is portrayed in this movie. Of course he. He was excused of having been involved with the bombing. He was completely innocent and his life was M- very damaged by this. But I'll tell you what life is being damaged now day day in this movie have character a woman reporter who Allegedly in the movie sleeps with a source with an FBI source to get a story about about this and this person this real life person whose name is used. Kathy scruggs is dead and cannot speak up. I mean this is an outrageous thing to accuse as a reporter of that is a firing offense as you know if you were to get wind of one of your people at the Hollywood reporter sleeping with the source to get stuff and I will tell you in my life there. There have been occasional offers. But that's not something that real reporters do and the editor of the Atlanta Journal Constitution where this person worked is objecting to this and I will just now. This is a Clint Eastwood movie. Clint Eastwood is clearly very conservative. Possibly part of the trump you know the reporters play reporters are fake news world and I honestly Kinda Hope. This becomes the controversy. Because I think it's outrageous. Well it's also part and parcel of the film this. This is an indictment according to the reviews that have come out of both the FBI and the media and how they handled this situation with Richard Jewel. And I don't I don't think anyone is saying that this was the finest moment for either of those institution absolutely not but it does cross the line there to suggest that a reporter did something like this and it's also a trope like you've seen this in other things with sally field. I'll never forget it. I was like well. Paul Newman hard to resist about. We don't do this right and even more recently. If you look at the character in house of cards played by Kate Mara her relationship with Kevin Spacey. Right if you look even Amy Schumer in trainwreck. I mean that was. She was sleeping with the subject of her story. So this is like a trope that comes back and and I am not what a female journalist but I see how deeply offensive this is And also not necessary like you. Don't need it's Lizzie. And let me just turn quickly to this apple premier. You know apple is trying to plunge into this world. It's been a bumpy ride. We've talked about. They have this movie. The banker they were going to have a premier they cancelled it. Why did they cancel it because the son of the subject and the stories about a black man who this is a real story again of who recruited a white man to front for his financial business sixty years ago before the Civil Rights Act? This is a real story. But they have been using this guy. Son is the sky named Bernard Garrett Junior to promote the movie and IT Turns Out Bernard Garrett has a couple of half sisters who say that this guy had sexually molested them for years ears and this has now blown up. It's a different kind of hazard. Apple acquired this film. But when you don't vet things carefully this hazard that can happen. Yeah that's an interesting question because apple bought this movie after it was already made and neither apple nor the filmmakers knew about this controversy until about a week peak before the premiere and obviously the allegations are very specifically time. But now they've got to figure out what to do with this movie. That has this. Explosive allegation dropped their wives. Yeah I mean I just saved. Proceed with caution when you're doing true real life stories and I think it's a cheap out to Take on someone who's dead and can't speak up. Thank you thank

"I. You know, you think about the impact of, of something like that. I'm gonna goes back to the Sandman lawsuits. You know, against the media, and when the media essentially did their hit job on that day and all those other students along was an man, were, you know, basically positioned as labeled as bigots. Racists. When you get into. That kind of law when you get into that kind of lawsuit you start adding up the damage. And you put a dollar to, and it becomes something massive, especially given the power of the media, and that case it'll be interesting to see where that goes, if the media settles, or if they fight this, or, we're okay, here's a question. I don't think we asked the question then but this media fight it because it's really about Trump. Do they fight it? I they're not gonna win that would be horrible to do that. Because the Baker. Yes, in the salmon case do they fight it. Because again, the truth is the truth. And it came out fairly quickly and they were corrected. But I well, if there, if there is behind closed doors, this mindset that we, we can't lose because if we lose, this is going to be a wound Trump. He would be the thing either you, you said, a lot of court with no amount, and nobody claims guilt. Right. But is that would San is that what he wants does? He does. He do the lawyers want it. Right. Does it to the lawyers wanted to family or do they want them to admit is the money not enough? Do they want them to admit either be found, you know, and that's, that's a question to be asked and a lot of people say, well, wait a minute. Will you know the because in DEA we'll up them the amount as long as we don't have to admit any wrongdoing. The newspaper we didn't do anything wrong. No wrongdoing. Paid the money out. Everybody knows it. But I know that I would want them either to admit it or lose in court. Yeah, you wanna correct? New one. That's me. That's right. The money. I and people say, well, you, if you had the money I don't have that kind of money that he's doing for. Two hundred fifty million the ads to lawsuits for two hundred fifty million billion. I, I know the one caller called one time and said you guys are billionaires. We are not. No, no not yet. About. Oh, believe me. I don't have anywhere. I don't think I don't know what two hundred and fifty million. Well, I haven't won a Powerball yet. Oh, yeah. Somebody one, one of the big prizes on the one of the lotteries now, one of the smaller three hundred billion. Yeah. That's right. Yeah. If that's not even worth buying a ticket for. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. What was it? Mega millions five thirty. Yeah. It's a half a billion. After taxes. No, I, I would I would want the would want the media to be held accountable. I would I, I would never. I don't think I can't see a thing unless it was a family member who might have been injured in some way and taking care of them was more important. And I might settle that, that I might settle if it was somebody else if it was just me never settle. I just wanna do it right in the point. If, if I'm gonna make the point, I'm gonna make the point yet. Well, and that's it. Because here's here's my question. I guess if it's an undisclosed amount certainly people would know that it's still significant amount. Right. Even if it doesn't get to a five hundred million combined and at that point you become famously wealthy, but you still have this stigma attached to you. And there is no correction of that, you know, no admission of guilt, no correction by the media to come out and say this, and then on the other side of that it's. Do you really believe they mean it? Or are they just being forced to do it by by the lawyers judge? I don't care and I don't need an apology. You know how sometimes you have to give an apology. I don't need an apology. I just need them because I don't expect I don't I don't think an apology. A again. I don't think they care about it. All I want is in the lawsuit where they admit they did wrong. It's all I want. I care less about the apology I win as soon as they say we did wrong. Right. We defamed you, then that's all I care about. I don't want, you know, when they had to apologize and take out a, you know a a. Page ad in the newspaper. And, you know, I, I don't need that. I just need. I need it set in public that you did wrong. You defame me. I know the apology isn't sincere. So why would I go for it all I want is you have to admit you were wrong, right? And ice punitive damage. Gimme gimme. Gimme ten million for punitive damage, right? Then again, you look at it and they can say his entire life has been destroyed. Well, and that would be the point forget about maybe would be less. I mean because turnings are the attorneys that represented Richard jewel. The Olympic park at one point suspect that they named the Olympic park bombing going back to Georgia years ago, but they had the media had labeled him as a suspect, and that's where they started changing the terminology. And the words they were using to persons of interest, right? And so I'm guessing Richard jewel, would I don't know if he did it changes name. I can't remember if he did. But you would almost have to, you know, you would almost have to do that. The difference there is that was Sandman his his photo his image was everywhere in change your name. There's not much you're going to do about your appearance. Okay. Washington Post two hundred fifty million CNN two hundred and seventy five million. Yeah. Yep. I mean but that kind of labeling I mean on that scale it was while it was an indirect labeling. It's, it's kind of worse because you're floating. It's almost like the mall reproach. You're floating that idea making people think you're implying. He's a bigot because those those kids were out there, supporting Trump, you're a bit because you made it look like that the native American man, and I forget his his name was being oppressed and down and shouted down by these students. You're plying that their actions. Were nefarious nature. And the fact of the matter is, is it wasn't the case at all. No. Not at all. In fact, those those that were to blame were the ones who were perceived as the victims because of the first edited video that right out that everybody jumped upon exactly. And so, I mean you have to look at situations, whether it's a small town, you know, in bakery, or as you know, especially a small, I mean, that's your that's your whole world. And it's very small world. I mean it if there is a any kind of, I don't know, rumor or talk about somebody, or an establishment, that's gonna shut family completely out dot down, that's going to cause, especially in a small town. Yes. Right. Yeah. I made it such a small circle that gets around by lunch, and then it's over. So. I wonder though and today's world how many how many judges how many juries find the same. It'll be interesting to see where the San man how long it will take to either settle it out of court. Right. Or how long this this takes because the CNN suit was in March. Yeah. Right. So one wonders what's going on behind the scenes, even the smaller much smaller lawsuits, take a long time. I can't imagine how long this might take it might be a few years before we see. But then, again, if they want to get this behind him CNN, Washington Post, whoever it is, then there could be a settlement that the family agrees to and they, they move on. Google built Email for politicians, but you have to trust Google from American public media. This is marketplace tech demystifying the digital economy. I'm Ali would. Email can be very vulnerable way to communicate especially if you're sending around valuable information because you're a politician or a journalist or an activist high profile Email users are targets for hackers trying to get them to click the wrong link and give up their passwords. Google actually offers a version of g mail with extra security, you need a physical USB key to log in and anyone can use it. But Google markets it to these high profile users Mark Risher is head of Google's account security team in creator of what's called the advanced protection program. What we realized was that while we do our utmost to protect everyone. There's some people that need really to turn it up to the max that whether they are activists or journalists or political figures the risk or the likelihood of an attack is particularly high. And so we built advanced protection. Yes. As the Fort Knox to give them Google strongest security offerings all in one place. I mean, I suppose that even. If you were let's say candidate who was enrolled in advanced protection. But you were emailing somebody who wasn't isn't the weakest link in any of your communication like the dumb person on the other end. I wouldn't say the dumb person because. Yeah. The the attackers are going after everyone, and they will look for wherever they can get through. And they have the advantage that they get to keep trying until they succeed. But you're right in your Prentice that communication is multi party. It's two way. And so if either side is compromised, and yes, there is vulnerability. Right. And I mean, I guess that raises the question should anybody. Use Email should sensitive information in this day and age be in Email at all it feels like a real question. But the challenge is we need to communicate to do our jobs. You know, if we were to go live in a cave and only pass handwritten notes back and forth. It would be unlikely. Someone would steal those handwritten notes, but we also would be going at such low bandwidth. We couldn't get our jobs done information sharing. And all of these communication tools are. Mendis-led valuable, for example, when we talk to political campaigns. They say, you know, think of a campaign as a startup that comes together just for a few months with just one objective. Every second counts they're going as fast as possible, and they need to be able to use the wide panoply of communication tools at their disposal. Mark pressure is head of Google account security team. So, but you know, people are still skeptical of Google, so we checked with an independent cybersecurity expert on whether even a higher security version of g mail is a good idea. Bruce Schneier said he personally doesn't use Google at all he said here in the US government can just subpoena your g mail and Google has to hand it over. But he said in countries with autocrat regimes that can't just ask Google for Email records, the program could be good protection from surveillance, Nigeria and Khazakstan Syria and east Neo Pia bunch of countries in the Arab states bunch of countries in Latin America, former Soviet republics all these cuts. Stories are using toviolence tools to spy on people for political purposes and people who are at risk of there. This is a great system. Schneider said even US citizens working in other countries with routine surveillance, should definitely secure their Email and now for some related links. Even though the FCC officially repealed net neutrality that wasn't enough for the Trump administration and the telecom industry, several broadband lobbying groups and AT and T had actually petitioned the supreme court to overturn 2016 ruling that up held net neutrality rules, that's constitutional and within the purview of the FCC telecoms and the administration wanted the supreme court to throw out that ruling altogether. So it could not be used as legal precedent down the road. But the high court said, no, although Justice, Brad Kavanagh and chief Justice John Roberts recused themselves. Both of them said they totally would have overruled the lower court if they had been there, though, another story you might have missed on a lighter note electric, scooter company bird launched its service in London sort of a law from eighteen thirty five has blocked the use of the scooters on Britain's streets, but the company can operate on private land with the. Owner's permission.
